Anyways I loved this episode with The Williams family and Ryders. Honestly anytime we focus on any relationship outside of Owen and his femme du jour I like the episode. When I get to see Grace and Judd in love I love the episode. The McClain sisters together for the the 2 minutes were special. Charlie is getting so big and now I want to this dynamic more.

Listen guys I don’t want to sounds crazy making this parallel but I’m definitely clowning so u don’t have to point it out, I’m aware.

TK having to make a will SCREAMS the Eddie will reveal at the end of season 4. Eddie is shot and it’s revealed that Christopher, who we know means EVERYTHING to him, goes to Buck. Already that a big deal, like wow. Because this isn’t regular god-parent stuff, Eddie could very feasibly die, he’s a firefighter who has had more than enough near death experiences(nde) to make Buck becoming Chris’ legal guardian a real possibility.

Now let’s compare TK, the 126 “NDE MVP” as the team called him. It’s brought up that he should really, really have a will because of all the near death he’s dealt with. He proposes to Carlos by telling him “EVERYTHING will just go to my husband”.

That’s a crazy parallel right? These two men who’s lives have been filled with death and near death who’s wills give what’s important to their partners. Romantic, Platonic, or whatever, I just find the parallel there extremely interesting.

This Grace and parents storyline is yikes. It’s soo annoying how they love to add a death or injury plot to make characters forgive faster. You know people can actually communicate and work through their feeling right? And a wife can forgive her cheating husband but the child can STILL be disappointed in their father. Like the whole thing of Grace crying and acting like she was being unreasonable is a little side eye to me. That plot could’ve been soo much better if they actually had her father work to win her trust and respect again. But they were too busy trying to write in her RL sisters into the plot.

And we know plenty of older women that fall into the caregiver trap with their cheating ass partner. They get real faithful when they need someone to take care of them. That side chick sure as hell isn’t sticking around for it.

But anywho, I didn’t like that plot one bit lol

Original Fox 9-1-1 is more balanced than Lonestar 9-1-1. Do you agree?

Lonestar has a lot of potential, but one of the major flaws is that it relegates most of the characters to the background and turns the ensemble show into "The Adventures of Cap and The Tarlos Romance". This was a major criticism up to this point, and I am surprised to see the showrunners continuing down this path.

Owen is always saving the day is some far-fetched movie type adventure (human smuggling/dirty cop drama in the middle of a massive storm in the mountains, romantic interest involved in anthrax scare at government building, serial psycho arson, undercover FBI informant with dangerous biker gang adventure, etc…).

TK is the perpetual damsel in distress (he’s on his 3rd coma). Why does his romance take up so much screen time when Judd and Grace had such a beautiful and pure origin story, but are now relegated to being a boring passionless couple. Why on earth is Judd and Grace’s chemistry not being fleshed out? Very disappointing. I had high hopes for more storylines involving those two. Now, they are established as a geriatric couple even though they are young and sexy.

The original 9-1-1 shows everybody’s home life. Everybody has layers to their character. Hen has exciting work situations/challenges, relationship issues, adoption storyline and medical school/personal development storyline. Buck has relationship and sperm donor storyline. Chim has post-partem/relationship, baby, new apt storyline. Athena has interesting work cases, in addition to full home/romance life and interesting dramatic case from childhood. Eddie has romance storylines and is caring for a child with complex needs.

Furthermore, Bobby cares about his team and takes his role as mentor seriously despite his own challenges (in addition to reasonable side storylines e.g. his sponsor’s death).

Have I missed Nancy’s origin story? Where does she live (I believe when they showed M & N together in bed that was Cap’s house…I could be wrong)? Other than her romance with Mateo, has she had a storyline? Where does Marjan live? We saw Paul’s place briefly during his depression episode. He had a brief origin story with his mom and sister, but not much else. The game night situations just seem to be another excuse to pile on the Tarlos romance PDA.

Mateo was allowed to shine a couple of times, but otherwise no continued fleshing out of his character. Marjan had the roller derby and romance storylines, but Lonestar tends to pause character development into brief segments while the original 9-1-1 fleshes out the stories so that the characters feel more developed. Lonestar tend to “park” characters so that if they aren’t currently involved an active storyline, they don’t get to say anything interesting - just filler generic statements in the background.

We’re in season 4. I guess, that’s just the kind of show that this is. The showrunners are clearly not open to feedback.
