Alright, I have a plant theory! I vaguely remember reading a theory that went something like: Plants were discovered, buried within the Earth's crust; humans then experimented on them Jurassic Park style to bring them back to life, and in the process they genetically modified them for their needs. (If you have a source for this theory this plz let me know!) Let's not forget the canon cloning either.
I couldn't help but notice after watching Akira, how eerily similar the technology integrated with Tetsuo and the plant patterns were.
Tumblr media
Could plants be part synthetic too? How were they brought back?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be fair, it could be a stylistic choice of the time. Fullmetal Alchemist uses similar patterns to depict alchemy. From an artistic perspective, this is an easy way visually to communicate that something has been manipulated non-organically, like a circuit board or a grid, a short hand for something man-made.
Tumblr media
Not to say natural geometry doesn't occur in like in the structure of crystals or rocks, but it's hard to not see the technology (hard angels) vs organic (soft curves) design elements.
Stampede goes even further to integrate both the organic and technological.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't tell me that it doesn't look like a circuit board AND plant lines!!!

I'm left wondering what they were like before humans changed them. Were they more like the independents, reverting back to the way they were? Or were the independents an adaptive response to extreme circumstances? What did they truly look like?
It hurts to think how plants were manipulated to generate matter and power and that their suffering was so great they changed, either knowingly or spontaneously, their own bodies to produce offspring to bridge the gap between them and humans as a cry for help.
Anyway, I'm not okay about plants. : )

Babe, based on what kind of shows and movies I already like, what kind of anime would you recommend for me? I wanna start watching anime and I have no idea where to start
Despite the fact that it's gonna 2 years since our mutualship I can't really think of an anime to watch based on what you like (that's on me I suck at vibe checking tbh) but I can give you a place to start. For example, the hit anime Death Note

ngl, I want a kyuranger rep to be in kingohger or maybe even a toqger rep lol! maybe this will motivate to watch kyoryuger for real this time (the one sentai that I said I would watch when i got into sentai was magiranger and i have yet to watch it lol, got distracted by other sentai and rider lol)
it'd have to be lucky for kyuuranger, toqger is probably my next sentai and while i know the twist i don't actually know THAT much about it
honestly it's not like kyoryuger is THAT good, however it WAS my first sentai because i wanted to learn what the OTHER kiryuu was like after watching grand blue, so it has a special place in my heart, bad or not (although i will forever be mad about the shoehorned romance)

I have a request for joker (could you use akira for the name please).
Something like his s/o is also in the phantom thieves and when they are in safe rooms she likes to do small braids in his hair, also while chilling out at leblanc maybe :3
Might be a silly request but I thought it was cute, have a great day!
persona 5: playing with his hair (akira kurusu/ren amamiya)
notes: akira kurusu for protag, fluff, fem!reader, reader is a phantom thief, this might be sliiightly inaccurate since i haven't touched p5 in a while and idc to check myself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you were grinding through mementos one day with the rest of the phantom thieves, and things were going pretty well! shadows were being slain, treasure was being looted, and you were overall having a fun time riding around in morgana's van form.
you were grateful, though, for makoto's recent membership of the team. she was better at driving the van than akira was (bless his heart), which meant she took the wheel while akira sat in the passenger's seat, telling her where to go.
you sat behind him in the second row of seats, often leaning your head on the seat in front of you, sometimes babbling to get akira's attention. he'd always reach back to ruffle your hair or playfully offset your mask.
but your attention always drifted to his hair - his soft and undoubtedly fluffy head of black feathery hair. you'd been together for a while, so physical interactions weren't uncommon, but you've never really asked him if you could play with his hair.
you really, really wanted to play with his hair. holy shit, you wanted nothing more than to do that. but now wasn't the right time, being in mementos and all. you'd have to strategise for another time.
thankfully, that time came when after leaving mementos, akira invited you back to leblanc to destress and chill out. he'd make some coffee, you two would chat and cuddle, probably watch some tv.
you accepted, obviously, and taking his hand in yours, led you through the subway system to yongen-jaya and to leblanc. after pouring the two of you a damn good cup of coffee, you two went upstairs to his room in the attic.
after watching a few episodes of that cheesy action show you two like to riff on (and getting the neo featherman r theme song stuck in your head), you two migrated to his bed. akira sat down and extended his arms, inviting you in for a spooning sesh, but you waved your hands in denial.
after a puzzled and slightly pouty look from your boyfriend, you clarified what you meant: "i wanna be big spoon. i kinda... wanna play with your hair? is that cool?"
akira's eyes lit up and he adjusted his glasses that slipped down his face. a slightly goofy grin played across his lips and he shuffled on the bed, allowing you to slot yourself behind him.
"yeah, sure! go right ahead."
you quickly got to work, running your hands through his hair (which was still surprisingly soft and felt like heaven's clouds within your fingertips). you twirled some strands around your digits here and there and massaged his scalp.
akira leaned his head back into your touch, smiling all the while. you could've sworn you heard him purring (maybe that was your imagination, or maybe he was spending too much time with morgana).
you pressed a kiss to the side of his temple and kept playing with his hair long into the night...
Tumblr media
a/n: cat-coded joker ftw!!! also i love writing akira being more, like, a dork? i love his canon characterisation in the anime and it's not something i see often. you'll be seeing more silly goofy joker from me if y'all request it lmao

"what made you go shuake canon the most" i actually watched the anime before playing the game because i needed to Consume The Plot and I couldn't play the game fast enough when I was sick sometime last year. It was actually the scene in the TV studio where Akechi notices Akira and it just zooms in on his mouth and he smiles like "huh interesting". Not the best introduction to thinking it was canon but hey. It's just incredibly funny to me that Akechi sees a beautiful guy in the audience and is like "I must talk to him now now now now now now let me think what will make me sound smart, ah *Hegel*" right away when he really should be desensitised to it considering he's a literal celebrity and he's surrounded by beautiful people on the daily
Also the fact that the anime puts more emphasis on Akechi (before Royal released) really helped I think. Now the brainrot has taken me and I can't escape
That's a good one~ There's this one scene in the anime, before Akechi and Ren meet at the studio, where Akechi sees Ren on the subway... and he like stares and gasps and to this day I'm not sURE WHAT THAT WAS like as far as we know they haven't met each other until that point... so unless Akechi has seen him in the Metaverse off screen I can only explain it as Goro Akechi's Gay Awakening (tm)

[TL] Backdoor - an Original Scenario written by Akira
Tumblr media
Backdoor is a short original story written by Akira-sensei to accompany the release of the Crossroad animated series. I recommend watching it before reading this, especially if you haven't read the original Crossroads.
Please enjoy my translation below!
Backdoor
I break in from the backdoor. I feel like a super cool outlaw from one of those movies. Avoid the countless traps, blindly shoot the enemies like bang bang bang! Feast your eyes, idiots of the world!
I am the great Oogami Koga…!
"..."
By the back door is a guy with blond hair who’s sorting the trash out, probably works here part time. Since I came in and started acting like a weird middle schooler, he looks at me, surprised.
“Hey, you–” Part-time-kun (tentative name) puts his hand out with a totally bored expression. “One thousand yen. It’s the entrance fee.”
“Oh, yeah. Sorry.”
“Next time come in from the proper entrance, ‘kay?” Part-time-kun (tentative name) doesn’t lecture me any further and exchanges my 1000 yen bill for a sleek plastic card. If I show this at the bar, I can get a drink and stuff. I thank him. “Enjoy your night~♪”
Part-time-kun (tentative name) is side-eyeing me, and at this point in time I’m so embarrassed all I want to do is go home but I pull myself together and head inside.
I’m in a cheap underground livehouse in the downtown area, near Yumenosaki Private Academy, the school I’m going to attend.
My sanctuary is here.
My god is here.
***
The livehouse I've been hanging around in lately is built a little weird. The entrance to the stairs is in a back alley. At the bottom of the stairs, there’s two corridors, one leading left, the other right. There’s a lot of soundproof doors, standing one after another. The majority of these small rooms are booths, meant to be hired out by amateur bands to practise in. If you look through the window of one, it’s normally empty since nobody really uses them.
Well, these days people don’t practise by actually picking up an instrument, playin’ until their fingers hurt. I’ve been doin’ that too lately, sittin’ at home ‘n staring blankly at my computer screen. I dunno.
At the end of the empty corridor, there’s the employees only room, the kitchen, and the back entrance which I found by accident when I was trespassing.
I’ve been short on cash lately because I’ve been buyin’ like, introductory books to playin’ the guitar ‘n stuff so I’ve been sneakin’ in that way ‘cos then I don’t hafta pay the entrance fee. No-one’s ever around anyway.
“I won’t be able to come in that way next time,” I complain as I walk down the corridor in low spirits, stopping when I find the soundproof room I’m looking for.
The biggest, most extravagant door is in the middle of the corridor. At the back, at the heart of this place— is the livehouse, or I guess you could call it a music hall.
“♪~♪~♪”
I open the weighted door and my entire body is blasted by music.
This is it. This electrifying feeling.
At the back of this relatively wide space is a really nice stage, and that’s where bands that have signed up to perform do so. The entrance fee also covers one drink, but you can order more food and drink and enjoy the show at the same time. It’s your average livehouse. I dunno though. I’m underaged, so I stick to a non-alcoholic tomato juice whilst enjoying the show.
Since this place is close to Yumenosaki, a lot of the customers are scruffy-looking students. I never thought young me would come to a place like this. I’m just in ordinary clothes. This place pays attention to its customer base, so there's not a drop of alcohol or a single cloud of cigarette smoke to be seen. Only super cool music is playing. It’s echoing.
“~...♪”
My God is in the middle of the stage, singing enthusiastically. The lyrics are in English, and I understand almost none of them. The lyrics are probably about wishing for world peace, or religious sacrilege; something complicated but meaningful. When I asked what he was singing about later, he said something like “I’m so happy because my cute little brother has recovered from his cold!”
Is he stupid? Or am I the stupid one for being so entranced by him?
But. I didn’t know that sort of thing back then, so I was genuinely moved by him.
Illuminated by the dim stage lighting, his pale corpse-like skin stood out in the shadows— him.
Crimson eyes like hellfire.
Black hair that melts into the darkness.
From between his seductive lips that are sexier than any girls’, comes a masculine, deep voice.
He looked simultaneously like an angel that could rescue the world and a devil that could destroy it too. Whether angel or devil, his singing voice was powerful enough to completely change the very fabric of this world.
“~...♪”
The name of the person I respect the most in this world is Sakuma Rei.
My God.
***
I was born and raised in an unremarkable environment.
We’re middle class. My dad’s an office worker and he earns a pretty decent wage, and my mum’s a housewife, which is rare nowadays.
They bought a nice detached house in a nice place. Both of my parents like kids and like taking care of others, so I grew up pretty pampered. I’m aware that since I was spoiled, I grew up to be a selfish, cocky brat. I was given whatever I wanted. I didn’t know what I really wanted though since it would be handed to me before I could even think about it. When I got to an age where I didn’t need to be looked after, my parents got a dog to satisfy their overflowing need to help others (?). His name’s Leon. He’s the best dog ever.
I fussed over him too, but not in the way my parents did. Everyday, they’d treat him like he was a baby, doting on him, probably the same way they treated me. It made me sulk a bit.
I could tell that my parents’ interest had shifted from me to Leon. Leon isn’t bad. He was bought to be loved. He’s a pedigree, he was born for this, to be doted on. He’s a really good boy and whenever I felt sad he’d snuggle up close to me and put his face next to mine. So I wouldn’t be lonely. So I knew I wasn’t alone.
But I felt that the amount of love I had received up until this point was steadily decreasing, and it made me anxious.
—Alas! Miserable, spoiled Oogami Koga-kun!
But I wasn’t shameless enough of a person to say “pay attention to me instead of the dog!” Leon deserved to be loved as much as I did— I wandered around town, searching for someone other than my parents who could love me.
I was starved, yearning. I looked like a stray dog scavenging around for something to fill me up. My parents aren’t bad. Neither is Leon. I’m probably not bad either.
I’ve already finished compulsory education. I had reached the age where I could fend for myself. So I should have. I’m sure other people are doing that. We leave the watchful eye of our parents, tackle teenagehood, and find out who we are. Find what we want to do with our lives. After countless trial and error, I found what I was looking for— Sakuma Rei. His music satisfied what my soul had been craving.
***
The performance ends, and Sakuma Rei disappears behind the stage.
I’ve never been on stage before, so I don’t know what it looks like back there. There’s probably a passageway that leads to a green room or something. The livehouse is weirdly dark and it’s hard to see much of anything, so it really looks like Sakuma Rei vanished like a ghost.
The person who fills the gap in my heart, vanishes.
So I grow anxious again and begin blindly searching for him everywhere. I make my way through the livehouse, pushing through the swathes of people who came here to see Sakuma Rei.
—Sakuma Rei, Sakuma Rei, Sakuma Rei.
My soul wants him.
Of course, I’m not part of his family. We’re not even acquaintances, let alone friends. He’s probably never even heard of me. But I didn’t mind either way. I found him, met him, fell in love with him, and had my yearning quenched. That alone made me thankful. Sakuma Rei, without a doubt, saved me. That’s all I wanted. I was just a sheep, one of hundreds who came here. To me, he was the night sky, something I thought I could never reach. I didn’t mind just watching from afar. That’s how I really feel. If I never got to see him closeup, I’d be fine with that.
And yet.
“What you’re drinking looks good.”
Suddenly, the tomato juice I’d ordered, which I didn’t end up liking because it was weirdly sweet, is taken from my hand by someone next to me.
—The hell, bastard? That’s mine. When I go to look up at whoever grabbed my drink with a belligerent expression, I realise it’s Sakuma Rei.
“If you’re not drinking it, I’ll have it. Singing’s got me workin' up a sweat.”
Naturally, my body stiffens.
That’s Sakuma Rei.
If I reach out my hand, I could touch him.
I’m so surprised by what I originally thought was something that could never happen, I have nothing clever to say and instead, like an idiot, I freeze with my mouth ajar.
“What’s up? Oh, you’re at that age where you think indirect kisses are embarrassing, right…?” Sakuma Rei says with a somewhat apologetic expression. Then he says something absurd.
“Oopsies, sorry~Don’t worry, I take full responsibility for stealing your first time. Mhm.”
That was the first conversation we had, and it’s not exactly something I can brag about to anyone.
Ever since then, ever since that moment, I’ve been at the mercy of this arrogant person.
***
I step through the backdoor.
The unmotivated-looking blond employee is slacking off on his phone again today– he’s a playboy called Hakaze and is actually the manager of this place. He’s also supposedly one of my senpai from Yumenosaki. He glances up from his phone at me with a gross expression.
“Look look. I just got another girl's number. I’m typing out my first message now.”
“Shut up, I don’t know you. Don’t talk to me, playboy.”
About two years have passed since I had my first conversation with Sakuma Rei, Sakuma Rei-senpai, a conversation I’d rather not remember.
I’ve got a bit taller and a bit stronger.
I practised intensely so my guitar and singing skills have somewhat improved.
Whilst I was growing, Yumenosaki had gone to the dogs.
Yumenosaki Private Academy’s an idol school steeped in a rich history and tradition. But inside, it was rotting.
I wanted to be like Sakuma-senpai, so I followed him without thinking and took Yumenosaki’s entrance exam like an idiot. I was blinded. I didn’t know anything. Every Yumenosaki student is shit. Naturally, I noticed that since I frequented the livehouse in order to see Sakuma-senpai.
A rotted miniature garden where those with dead eyes spend their sad youth reeking of corpses. Sakuma-senpai was weirdly energetic despite the backdrop of death, so I got it wrong. No. I think I was just an immature, stupid brat, so I didn’t notice.
Sakuma-senpai had those same dead eyes.
In the mountain of dead bodies, he was clinging onto life. He was the only one who didn’t want to die, he was the only one praying for something to happen.
No-one could save him.
A bespectacled monk boy from a temple came along and evoked anger in him, trying to make him into a human— into something more than human. The stupid, lost dog just wagged his tail and followed the hand that fed him.
We didn’t realise that the person that was always grinning like a fool, and living what appeared to be a happy life, was actually suffering more than anyone. He desperately needed help. You can see why we didn’t notice; he looked like he was having fun.
When he stood on stage with me and Shitty Glasses as Deadmanz, he lived each day like it was his last. He looked genuinely happy—he looked like he was alive. But that was only a short-lived dream. Once he steps off stage, the spell breaks, and he turns back into a corpse.
A revolution takes place at the rotted Yumenosaki.
Sakuma-senpai was seen as a cause of evil and exterminated by those who claimed to be on the side of justice. The evil monsters had been defeated, and everyone lived happily ever after. It’s creepy when a corpse moves. Yeah, nothing will change if you don’t exterminate all the gross monsters, right?
—Fuck you, you bastards!
***
“Wan-chan, will you be singing today too?” The bored-looking playboy asks, on his phone as usual. Guess he doesn’t really want to talk to me. “You should stop because you’re dampening the mood. People think you're one of Sakuma-san’s henchmen, so people think you’re evil too and will persecute you like he was.”
“I don’t care. I… I’m.” I growl, the shallow first person pronoun Sakuma-senpai sometimes used slips from my mouth [1]. I cling onto what I’ve got left of him. “I just wanna sing with all my energy. I don’t care what the rest of you do.”
“But you’re creating problems for the livehouse. A customer pokes fun at you or Sakuma-san, you get angry, and you start a fight—I really don’t want things like that happening.”
“I won't create any problems, I’ll be on my best behaviour.”
“Will you really? But you’re like the rest of the customers— You always look like you’re going to start arguing with other Yumenosaki students. You come in from the back entrance like, everytime, to avoid any trouble, right?”
“I still pay the entrance fee.”
“Why do you go out of your way to perform here even though you’ve got to jump over so many dangerous obstacles to get here? It’s super bothersome.” Playboy's grumbling as usual. He pulls out a key and throws it to me. “Here. I’ll give you a key to a room so you can change clothes and get ready. If you swear to not cause any more trouble, you can become our new breadwinner, Wan-chan. I actually want to cheer you on,” the playboy said and laughed insincerely.
I hate his demeanour, so I snap back.
“Don’t call me ‘Wan-chan’.”
“Sakuma-san calls you ‘Wanko’. I call you ‘Wan’ as in, ‘number one’. Honest, honest to god.” [2] Playboy’s face goes serious for a split second and he waved his hands around like he was trying to hide his embarrassment. “You can be my number one breadwinner, like Sakuma-san.”
“Don’t hafta tell me twice.”
Just like Sakuma-senpai, I’ll become the best guy in the world. My voice alone will excite the crowd. A flirtatious glance will have women swooning. With a single look, even the strongest of men will bow down to me. In an instant, their souls are gripped, I captivate everyone. I’ll become like Sakuma Rei too. But the journey is a long one. “Let’s go. I’m singin’ tonight.”
I reach my booth, key in hand, and change into my costume. I take out my guitar, who’s as important to me as my parents and Leon are. Once I’m ready, I head to the stage. To tackle this head on.
“Shake, you fools! Imma show you what real music is!”
I sing. My guitar does too.
Just like Sakuma-senpai did.
Right now I’m blindly copying him, but I pray that one day, I’ll be able to be just like him.
I hope this song reaches him, wherever he is.
***
Once, I was starving, yearning. But when I found Sakuma Rei and his music, my soul was satisfied.
—Now it’s my turn.
“Rock ‘n’ roll…!”
Come on, idiots of the world. I’ll open your eyes with my music. I’ll become your God.
~~~~
Translation notes:
[1] in the line above this one Koga says ‘俺...俺様は’ or ‘ore…ore sama wa’. Oresama being the first person pronoun rei sometimes used, and its very egotistical.
[2] number one is pronounced as, in this case, ‘nanbaa wan’
Kyoya: I haven't gotten an F since I failed recess in second grade. I was a painfully boring child.
Kaoru: You're still boring now.
Kaoru: I hope Hikaru is okay, he can get pretty insecure when he's alone.
Hikaru at the other end of the school: Kaoru? KAORU?!
Mori: When Shania Twain says "let's go girls" I feel like I could kick a door off its hinges.
Tamaki: I wasn't sure what to get Antoinette for her birthday so I bought her the same Apple watch as me so we match.
Mrs. Ootori: Fuyumi, don't get pregnant. Getting pregnant with Kyoya was the worst mistake of my life.
Kyoya: I'm right here.
Mrs. Ootori: Oh right, I forgot. Apparently I tried to kick him away, like giraffes do at the zoo.
Kyoya: ... I'm doing so well emotionally.
Tamaki: Where do babies come from?
Yuzuru: Tamaki, I'm sure we've talked about this.
Tamaki: Yeah, but I'm blanking. Two guys, right?
Kaoru: Sorry, we have to leave early, Ageha's school called, she tried to play God at the science fair again.
Tamaki: I'll pay for your lunch, Haruhi!
Haruhi: Oh, okay.
Lunchlady: That'll be 100,000 yen.
Tamaki: ...What the fuck?
Mori: I love my friends. They never demand I speak. I can go nonverbal and listen to them like they're a podcast.
Kyoya: My smartwatch just congratulated me on my run and said I burned 300 calories... I was sat down eating a cheeseburger.
Tamaki: Hikaru, Kaoru, FBI agents don't hold hands!
Hikaru: These ones do!
Kaoru: Yeah, and they sleep in the same bed!
Honey: While we were in Boston I got this 10% off coupon, it saved me $90 at a bakery!
Mori: He saved $90 on a $900 purchase, and he's still happy about it.
Kyoya: Right, I'm leaving for my doctor's appointment. Please behave while I'm gone.
Kaoru: Still trying to find your soul?
Kyoya: Oh please, they gave up on that when I was less than a year old.
Hikaru: The oneesan from the train poster I fell in love with got pregnant, so I've been crying about that for a few nights now.
Kaoru: Next time, tell a therapist that instead of me.
Renge: Hey, what did you guys get for number twelve?
Kaoru: I got eighteen.
Haruhi: I got nine point five.
Hikaru: I got Abraham Lincoln... for some reason.
Hikaru: Can we ride our new scooters outside?
Kyoya: Do whatever, I'm not your mother.
Hikaru: Okay! Weee!
Kyoya: Not in the street!
Midwife: Halloween, what a day to go into labour, eh? I'll get a nurse to wipe the face paint off.
Reiko: No, I want to look like this. I put it on after I went into labour.
Akira: Hey, I just rolled over in bed and Hikaru is here with me. Is Kaoru with you?
Renge: Let me check... yes.
Akira: Great, I'll be there in ten to make the swap.
Kyoya: I'm getting blackmailed at school...
Fuyumi: What?!
Yuuichi: Nobody blackmails our baby brother but us!
Akito: Yeah, messing with Kyoya is a privilege, not a right!
The man at the counter had told you it was alright to head up the stairs at the back of the café, but he didn't mention that there would be a group of people waiting for you when you got to the top of them.
The sudden silence had stopped you in your tracks. You weren't prepared for so many extra eyes to be on you, suddenly feeling like you had walked in on something much more intimate than you could probably imagine.
You had been in Shibuya for only an hour and you had already overstepped somehow.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, nobody else showing any intention of breaking the silence.
"Surprise..?"
All eyes were suddenly off you as they shifted to the person you came all this way to see in the first place. He was still staring at you, clearly still in shock at your sudden arrival in his room.
The cat sitting on the table meowed rather loudly, snapping your friend out of his stupor.
You couldn't hide your smile at the sound of your name slipping past his lips.
"Hi, Ren."
None of the other people in the room spoke a word as he rose from his seat, stepping away from it to approach you slowly.
"What are you doing in Shibuya?"
You only smiled wider.
"It's summer break! I thought I'd surprise you by coming in to visit you. I was thinking you might be feeling a bit homesick, so I wanted to check on you." You explained, watching him finally stop moving when he was standing right in front of you.
It had only been a few months, but you could have sworn he had grown taller since the last time you saw him.
The look on his face could only be explained as one of wonder, though you didn't know if that was a good thing or not.
It made you nervous, so you continued on.
"Besides, you haven't missed a single one of my birthdays, and I didn't think you'd want to start now." You said quietly.
You saw recognition cross his face, but it was gone just as quickly as it came.
You peeked around his frame to eye the group of teenagers watching the two of you. "But it seems like I'm interrupting something important, so I can just go back downstairs until you're finished here." You said, looking back up at him. "Unless you'd like to introduce me to everyone?"
His head whipped around to look at them for only a brief moment before he was looking at you again, suddenly grabbing your shoulders and turning you completely around to face the stairs.
"They're nobody."
"Huh?" You blinked, squeaking when he suddenly started pushing you towards the stairs. "Nobody? But--"
"That's right."
"They're in your room--"
"Lost tourists."
"Wh-- For real?!" You heard one of the boys shout from behind you. "Who's gonna believe--"
"Ren, stop pushing, I'm going to trip down the stairs!" You griped as he kept pushing you forward, doing your best not to slip as you grabbed hold of the railing. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to show you around." He reached for his bag that was on the table by the stairs, quickly leading you downstairs.
You frowned. Why was he being so pushy about getting you away from his friends? Did he not want to see you as much as you wanted to see him? You had been inseparable since before either of you could walk. Why was he suddenly so eager to rush you away like this?
Were you... embarrassing him somehow?
"We're going to be out until closing."
You blinked, not realizing he had moved you halfway across the café floor by now.
"Just don't cause any trouble." The man from before replied, offering you a short wave before you were suddenly out the door, the bustling of the people walking down the street hitting your ears.
You frowned again as you watched him sling his bag over his shoulder. "Are you mad at me?" You asked him.
He shook his head, motioning in the direction he wanted you two to walk, and despite your sunken mood, you walked beside him. "No, of course not. Why would you think that?"
That couldn't be a serious question, could it?
"What was all that back there?" You crossed your arms, ignoring the yowling of the cat that had followed you both out of the café. "You had guests, Ren, I'm not stupid. Why didn't you want me to meet them?"
This was never something that had been an issue before.
He seemed less than concerned as you two continued your walk to, you assumed, the station. "It's not that I don't want you to meet them." He said.
"Then why were you in such a hurry to get me out of there?"
He looked at you as if the answer should have been obvious.
"Because you're here."
You shook your head, confused. "So?"
He reached over, draping his arm over your shoulder to pull you in close to his side as you both continued walking, his breath on your ear.
"So nothing else in the world matters."
Akira Toriyama has passed away, I truly can't believe he's gone. Thought I'd let you know, if you haven't heard already.
It was incredibly shocking and heartbreaking to read the announcement this morning. He was only 68!
Toriyama-sensei has had an indelible influence on anime and western media. For a lot of kids (like myself) who grew up watching Toonami, DBZ was the first time any of us experienced serialized storytelling. There was nothing on TV at the time quite like the sprawling Frieza saga, where the story was told over multiple episodes, and watching Goku go super saiyan for the first time is as close to a religious experience as I've ever gotten.
Until DB(Z), I'd never seen such complete villain redemption arcs (first Piccolo, then the Prince of All Saiyans™ himself) where I could pinpoint the moment they were plunked onto the path of becoming a good guy and quite clearly follow their journey. And in a world full of creative world building, Toriyama is still king.
For those of you who've been following me for a while, it won't come as a surprise when I say Akira Toriyama and his creations have left a lasting impression on me. I've written a lot for DBZ over the course of my tenure as a fic writer, and the flame of my love for those characters will probably never go out.
I'm so, so sad to hear about Toriyama's passing, but I know his legacy will live on forever. If I've learned anything from DBZ, it's that the ones we love who leave us are never really gone.
[ENG] Revue Starlight -The LIVE- #4 Climax Pamphlet Interview
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy 6th anniversary to Revue Starlight! I managed to finish translating this interview just in time. Among other fun things, the cast of #4 left a message to each of their characters, and it's very sweet :') Translation under the cut.
Q.1
What do you think the highlight of this play is?
Mimori Suzuko: The brilliance of youth. The anxiety and anticipation of facing the future with graduation just around the corner! This world is huge, so do your best! Don't give up, Stage Girls! Without realizing it, you'll end up wanting to encourage them like that... for sure!
Kadoyama Yoko: After all, it's the Revue. It'll light a fire in the hearts of everyone who has watched and supported the plays up until now, without a doubt!
Ozaki Yuka: The theme is "Climax", so each of the Stage Girls must choose their own futures and part ways with their friends, and personally, I can relate to a lot of the feelings they're going through. Plus, there are interactions between members of the three schools of Seisho, Siegfeld, and Seiran that we haven't seen yet, so it'd be great if you paid attention to that.
Tomita Maho: It's "Climax", so there are a lot of moments that make you feel nostalgic. Please look forward to it! (laughs)
Iwata Haruki: Everyone's different paths! The different thoughts everyone's having with graduation just up ahead... and the Revue this time sure is a sight to see!!
Ikuta Teru: For Futaba, the highlight is that I'm using the most physical strength so far this time...! We're renewing the standard of what makes you feel like "there's no way Starlight can surpass this", and it's really difficult, but I'm able to feel the growth Futaba and I are experiencing together each time we practice, so every day is really fulfilling. I'll charge through with a fighting spirit!!!
Koizumi Moeka: Just like the title, it's loaded with a feeling of "Climax"! In #4, what will the Stage Girls fight against, and how will they overcome it? And there's maybe a Revue that will hit hard for the people who know about the plays so far...?
Q.2
Please tell us about your favorite song or line from the Starlight stage plays so far, as well as any related memories!
Koyama Momoyo: "Gunjou [Ultramarine]" from #2 is super super cool! It's so beautiful!!! Oh... Karen didn't sing in it, but... I watched over everyone from the back during every performance! I remember just itching to join in.
Koizumi Moeka: Through the words I said to Hisame-chan in #2, "It'll be colorful as always", I learned about Nana-chan's middle school days, and it gave me an opportunity to think once more about how Nana felt when she went to Seisho. She loves everyone in Seisho, but she also loves Hisame-chan, who she met in middle school.
Tomita Maho: I think it'd be "3・7・5・1・0", which we sang every time. When I hear it, it makes me feel like, "Stage Starlight is starting!"
Ozaki Yuka: "Grand Symphony", the curtain call song for Siegfeld's first stage play. During each performance, when all of our eyes met, everyone's expressions were brilliant, and I can't forget that moment. With the strong message of the lyric "I've made my decision to live on stage", it's a song that gives me a lot of encouragement.
Nomoto Hotaru: "I'll become the star of everyone's lives!", Yukishiro Akira's line from Delight. It makes me think "she's such an idiot~", but I can't hate her, and I can't help but think that it'll actually come true. I think it's a line that really represents Akira, and I've always loved it.
Itou Ayasa: The song "Position Zero e! [To Position Zero!]" from #1 is catchy, and the acting-like choreography was fun, so it left a deep impression on me. The lyric "I want to aim even higher" was so memorable that I thought the title was "I want to aim higher". (laughs)
Shiina Hekiru: The line "No matter which path you choose to advance on, the curtains of your lives will remain open". Once they enter this industry, these kids in the same class will make different decisions for their lives and go their separate ways. It's up to each person which path they choose, and there's a sight they can only see after they've made that decision.
Q.3
Episodes about your graduation ceremony/memories of graduation
Koyama Momoyo: Just like how Karen looked up to Starlight, I also had a play that I'd admired since I was a child, and the final audition for that play overlapped with my high school graduation ceremony...! I chose the audition, and in the end, I successfully passed. I was set to appear in the play of my dreams! I remember thinking, "You really don't know when your life is going to change, huh..."
Sato Hinata: On the day of my elementary school graduation, I didn't have any stick-on body warmers at home, so I attended with a non-sticky warmer on my stomach, and right before I received my diploma, it fell, and it was so embarrassing. I'll never forget it. I'll also never forget accepting the diploma while gripping the warmer in my right hand.
Haruki Iwata: I happened to be working on my Bachelor's thesis during the #1 revival, and during rehearsals I had everyone from the cast and staff fill out the questionnaire for my thesis...! I graduated thanks to everyone's help!! (laughs)
Mimori Suzuko: On the day of my high school graduation, there was snow piled on the ground, which is rare for March in Tokyo, and before I got to school, I fell on my butt and my skirt was soaked through...! I borrowed a spare skirt from the nurse's office and participated in the ceremony. It was a girls school, but I was popular with my juniors (laughs) so after the graduation ceremony, all of the buttons on my blazer were gone. Even the buttons on my sleeves♪
[T/N: It's a middle/high school graduation tradition for girls to ask guys they like for the second button on their blazer (more here), but if you're as (understandably) popular as Mimorin that extends to the rest of the buttons too.]
Ito Ayasa: I did a homestay abroad for two weeks in March just before graduation, and having stuffed myself full with all the food there before coming back, the photos from my graduation ended up being something incredible (laughs).
Aiba Aina: I remember staying up until midnight putting on flashy false nails, and then waking up at 5 AM to do my hair and makeup by myself as best as I could, but then it was ruined pretty quickly when I cried.
Q.4
A message to the members of your school
Maho Tomita: Every time we spend time together for a play, I realize how truly happy I am spending time creating plays together with all of you! Thank you so much for coming into my life♡
Ikuta Teru: I L O V E Y O U !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S HANG OUT TOGETHER AS NINE AGAIN, OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aiba Aina: I really can't thank you enough for coming into my life and becoming my friends. Thank you so much. When I couldn't do various things, without caring about anything like age or background, everyone gave advice to everyone, and including the ensemble cast, I just love Seisho's vibes. Let's keep sticking together from now on and forever! J'aime beaucoup tout le monde! [I love all of you so much!]
Nomoto Hotaru: To the Edel juniors. Yuka-chan and I are both doing our best as Edels. Let's stand on stage together as five again.
Kadoyama Yoko: I love you. Let's keep standing on stage together.
Shiina Hekiru: Keep on struggling. And, do not regret the path you have chosen.
Q.5
A message to the character you play
Koyama Momoyo: To Karen. The view I see from the stage with you is always colorful and radiant. I'll work hard to not lose to your brilliance, Karen! From here on as well, let's continue leaping into a yet unseen, beautiful future together! From Momoyo.
Mimori Suzuko: You went off to London without telling Karen again, I see...! The way you always decide where to go based on however you're feeling—I don't have that kind of proactiveness, and it sure is incredible. And the teacher did say that actresses are always selfish, so I think it's a good thing.
Maho Tomita: Let's go eat some yummy baumkuchen next time!!!
Sato Hinata: To Junna-chan. I can still vividly remember the moment we met. Your personality was so similar to mine, and I was a kid who thought it would be easier to give up when I was losing to someone. Since then, over the years, I was able to see many of your expressions, and before I realized it, I had gained courage from you. In order to make a decision, you need to take a big step forward, and in order to take that big step, you need an even larger amount of courage. But, Junna-chan, you taught me that taking that step can allow you to feel how big the world is. Thank you so much!! And let's keep doing our best from here on out! I hope you will continue shining brilliantly on stage with wonderful friends.
Haruki Iwata: I think you're feeling unsure about a lot of things on your new path, but you're a Stage Girl who's many times stronger than you think you are! May you continue shining on stage with strength, lovingly, and beautifully.
Koizumi Moeka: A lot of time has passed since we first met, Nana. I wonder if I've grown a bit since I met you? Up until now and from now on as well, my star is Daiba Nana, you and only you. I'll work even harder in hopes of being able to stand next to you proudly one day. Please watch over me, always.
Aiba Aina: Thank you for always pushing me forward. It's thanks to you, Claudine, that I could meet treasured friends and staff members, and overcome various obstacles! I'm really, truly happy to be able to play you, Claudine. You're "the best woman in the world" in my heart! I'll continue to work hard while looking up to you! Merci♡
Ikuta Teru: Futaba, I truly think you're amazing for deciding to go to Seisho with just a single word from Kaoruko, and then graduating from there and aiming for a new stage with your own will. I'm always learning from your hardworking and single-minded attitude. I'll do my best with all my strength so I won't lose to you! Thanks for always showing me a wonderful view!
Ito Ayasa: With how strong you are at your core, I'm sure you'll be fine no matter where you go from here on, Kaoruko. I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful dancing in the future as well! Almost as much as Futaba-han is, I'm your number one fan too♡
Nomoto Hotaru: You're wild and free, and just live honestly on the stage, and you're so annoying, but I love you!!
Ozaki Yuka: Michiru, having walked with you thus far, I have so much respect for you and your charming personality that's hard to guess from your appearance. Please allow me to continue portraying your thoughts about acting and feelings about Akira, as dearly as I can. I'll keep working hard and aiming for greater heights in sword fighting, dancing, and acting so you won't be ashamed of me, so even when you're in Germany, let's do our best together♪ I'm worried that people will see you as a kid in Germany, Michiru~(laughs)
Kadoyama Yoko: There are so many people in this world who love you. Be confident and push forward towards your dreams. I will always be on your side.
Shiina Hekiru: You're lucky to have such wonderful students. The things you can pass down to them because you're you—please wrap them up nicely with deep love and strictness.
the next night, akira didn't show up.
and she didn't show up for the rest of the week.
yet, anton constantly checked the time on the clock, perking his head up whenever someone the bell rang and he remained staying at the store past midnight in hopes that she would show up again.
he was confused, concerned, and worried as to why she suddenly just disappeared. he recalled what she mentioned a few days ago about how her parents found out she was sneaking out and thought that maybe they found out that she was sneaking out past midnight. he was utterly worried that she was in trouble.
anton dreaded coming to work over the past few days, just because the person he looked forward to seeing wasn't there. what worth was it to get ready for work, to tidy himself up in the morning only for her not to be there?
his close friend, sohee noticed that he wasn't acting like his usual self and took it upon himself to try and comfort his friend.
"what's wrong anton?" sohee asked, dragging a chair to sit beside his friend.
anton let out a sigh and rested his head in between his crossed arms, "nothing's wrong sohee,"
sohee rolled his eyes, "come on now anton i know you. something's clearly wrong. i can tell that you've been feeling out of it."
"what would you do if someone you liked suddenly just disappeared?" blurted anton, taking sohee by surprise.
"suddenly disappeared?" repeated sohee, "well i would be confused and hurt. and worried of course. i'd try to find out what happened. search every part of town for her if i could,"
anton brought his head up from his arms, "search every part of town for her? why haven't i thought of that?"
anton immediately stood up on his feet at sohee's response and hurriedly took off his work apron, grabbing his messenger bag and slinging it over his head.
"woah there where do you think you're going?" sohee followed suit, placing an arm on his hip as he watched anton fold his work apron.
"i'm going to town to search for her," sohee's jaw fell open, astounded that anton actually took his words to heart, "wow she must be really something,"
anton nodded sheepishly, "please tell the owner that something important came up,"
sohee gave him a thumbs up, "good luck anton!"
⭑・゚゚・:༅。.。༅:゚::✼✿ ✿✼:゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
anton let out a sigh, realizing that this was already the second time that he passed by the same bench again. he had walked around the town, discreetly checking the neighborhood, parks, stores, and restaurants in hopes that he would bump into akira.
"where could she be?" anton asked himself, his eyes observing the area around him.
as he walked past the fountain which was located in the center of the town, his ears perked up at a conversation shared between a group of teenage girls.
"did you hear? they're holding a ball this friday in honor of the princess!" squealed one of them with short hair.
"i read that she was to be engaged to prince wonbin. isn't he the dreamiest? i heard that they were childhood friends as well. it's such a love story. i wish i was a princess," cooed the other with long blonde hair.
"oh i'd love to be princess akira. she's living the dream,"
anton froze in his spot.
"princess...akira?"
he repeated it over and over again. princess akira. princess akira. princess akira. princess akira. princess. akira. suddenly he felt like his knees were growing weak and that he was seconds away from falling onto the ground. he was hit with a realization that made him physically dizzy.
everything made sense now.
she always wore a hood, to hide herself from the public in case someone recognized her. she had a specific curfew because she was sneaking out. her parents didn't want her to go out. she wore a different dress nearly every single day, and her hair was always neatly tied. she always had a pristine, royal aura that was indescribable.
everything made sense.
the reason why she stopped appearing was most likely that her parents found out that she was sneaking out again or that there was something else going on that anton didn't know about.
anton rushed over to the group of teenage girls, "she's to be engaged to prince wonbin?"
the girls looked at each other, startled by his sudden appearance.
"have you read the paper? apparently, she's to be married to prince wonbin. their parents have been friends for ages and they were planning on expanding their kingdom," explained the blonde girl while her friends furiously nodded in agreement.
"here look," the short-haired girl shoved the newspaper into anton's hand.
right there on the front cover of the page was a photo of her and the said prince. she had a delicate smile on her face which mirrored the one the prince had as well, their arms linked. he had a gorgeous face and it was evident that god really took their time making his face. as much as anton wanted to deny it, they looked perfect for each other. anton felt his heart sink into the pit of his stomach. a wave of uneasiness clouded over him and his mind was in disarray. there was a gnawing anguish that terrorized him, misery written all over his face. he felt the tears well up in his eyes and he forcefully tore his gaze away from the paper.
anton handed the paper into the girl's hand and walked away before he started to pick up the pace and started sprinting, eyes blurring with tears. he needed to go home.
anton fell onto his bed, an arm over his eyes as he tried to swallow the information. he couldn't believe it. he didn't want to believe it. the photo of them together was haunting his mind, making his insides clench together.
she was to be married to a prince. and anton was far from a prince. he didn't live in a castle, he didn't have a kingdom, he was just a normal teenager working at a bar, serving customers and selling instruments. he didn't stand a chance against wonbin who was a prince. he was just a nobody. a normal person. and akira was a princess. someone who was at a much higher status than him. he didn't even deserve to be in her presence.
the whole time that they hung out together he could only ask himself, why did she hide the fact that she was a princess? why couldn't she ever tell him? was all the secret smiles, the fluttering heart moments they shared for nothing?
anton's body wracked with the force of his sobs, his chest was hurting from trying to breathe. he was heartbroken. he was hurt.
⭑・゚゚・:༅。.。༅:゚::✼✿ ✿✼:゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
it was the night of the ball and anton was curled up in his bed, listening to the sounds of the wind blowing, the loud music that was playing in the bar a few miles away from him, and the sound of his quiet sniffles.
"anton? are you in here?" sohee asked from the opposite side of the door, "come on anton you can't stay in your room forever. i've run out of excuses to give to the owner!"
"go away sohee," mumbled anton, just loud enough for sohee to hear.
"i'm not going to go away until you tell me what happened,"
anton removed the blanket from his legs and trudged his way to open the door to his room. sohee nearly tumbled down to the ground as he was leaning against the door.
"well you look like you've been going through it," sohee cleared his throat, noticing how disheveled his hair looked and his tear-stained cheeks.
"it's over sohee. can you believe it? im in love with the princess," anton whispered sitting on his bed there was an evident tone of sadness in his voice.
sohee's gaze on him softened as he took a seat beside him, "so she was the girl huh? who would've thought that a princess would've been visiting our store,"
"she's to be throned to someone else. a prince," anton whimpered, "how am i supposed to compete with a prince? he's probably proposing to her right now,"
"maybe she's not in love with him. just because he's a prince doesn't mean that she's infatuated with him. for all i know maybe she's in love with you too. haven't you thought about that?" started sohee, patting anton's back, "it doesn't matter if she's a princess, you love her for who she is right? and if you never let her know how you feel, you'll live with that regret."
anton wiped his nose with the sleeves of his shirt, "i think that might've been the wisest thing you've ever said to me,"
sohee threw his head back laughing, his eyes forming crescents, "i feel flattered. thank you. now come on, you have to tell her how you feel before it's too late."
"but how? how the hell am i supposed to get into the castle?"
sohee grinned deviously, "oh anton, leave that to me,"
⭑・゚゚・:༅。.。༅:゚::✼✿ ✿✼:゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
anton fell onto the luscious fresh grass with a thump. he got back up on his feet, dusting off the grass off his pants and wiping his hands on his shirt.
sohee knew of a secret passageway to the castle garden that he accidentally came across a few months ago. and luckily for the two of them, there were no guards in their paths or people. however, anton did have to crawl through a passageway that nearly crushed his body as well as climb over a wall.
anton cautiously walked around the garden. there were rows and rows of flowers such as roses, lavenders, and daisies as well as wall bushes that made the garden feel like a maze. anton found himself at a secluded part of the garden where there was a small fountain in a shape of a heart, as well as a figure sat on the edge of it, head in their hands.
anton took a sharp inhale of air, his heart hammering against his chest.
"akira...?"
the said princess stood up in a rush, eyes widening as she watched anton walk closer to her. for the first time, her brown hair wasn't tied and instead, it was let down in waves with a dainty tiara sitting on top of her head. she wore an off-shoulder pale rose-colored dress with layers of ruffles going down to her ankles. a crystal necklace wrapped around her neck, glimmering under the moonlight. her eyes were teary, indicating that she had been crying previously but despite that, she looked more beautiful than ever. there were no words in the dictionary that could describe how beautiful she was.
anton felt underdressed considering that he was only wearing formal pants as well as a fitted blouse. in this moment he felt like he wasn't suited to be in the presence of a princess.
"anton? what are you doing here? h-how did you get in here?" she asked frantically, taking in the sight of the person in front of her.
anton didn't answer her question but instead sat at the edge of the fountain, "why did you just disappear without saying anything?"
the two were embraced in silence as akira sat beside him, fiddling with her fingers.
"ever since that night, a lot of things happened. i- i wanted to tell you about who i was. i really did but i couldn't find the right time to do so. i was afraid that you'd see me differently or treat me differently. i would've hated for you to change the way you acted just because i'm a princess. i didn't want you to see me as royalty," akira started, her voice quiet and honest, "the store was my only getaway from this place. this castle. i've been cooped up here nearly every day of my life and it felt so suffocating. that was until i sneaked out one day and stumbled upon you and the store. it was like a breath of fresh air to finally be somewhere where i was treated like a normal person. where i could be myself and not have to worry about my duties, my parents, and everything else. i really did want to tell you anton,"
she took a deep breath before she continued, "but my parents found out that i wasn't in my room during the afternoons and i was watched over by the maids. so i could only sneak out during the night when everyone was asleep. that night that i was supposed to see you, they found the tunnel i used to sneak out. it was barred and there were people taking guard so i had no way to see you. it was frustrating and i didn't know what to do. and on top of that, i had to prepare for the ball today. i really did want to see you anton. i'm glad i got to see you again,"
anton felt his heart slightly at ease that she didn't get into deep trouble by sneaking out. but there was something else that bothered him.
"what about prince wonbin? i heard that you were to be throned to him," he stammered, biting his lip.
"prince wonbin? oh no i only see him as my friend and nothing more. though it is true that i was supposed to be married to him, we both agreed that it wasn't something we wanted. i don't see him as a lover," anton felt the heavy-hearted feeling leave his chest and he could finally breathe again. he felt so relieved.
at this point, anton wasn't really sure what she was talking about anymore. something about how wonbin and her were childhood friends and their parents being friends. but his focus was on her facial expression, how she was furrowing her brows and grimacing at the thought of dating him, how her plump lips were moving, the sparkle in her eyes, and how the moonlight made her look so angelic. he felt bad for not paying close attention to what she was saying.
when akari was done rambling, she noticed the soft tender look in anton's eyes, as well as the smile that was displayed on his face. he looked adorable. she swore that she had never felt butterflies in her stomach until now.
anton slowly closed the distance between them so that their shoulders touched. his pinky reaching out for hers.
"can i kiss you?" breathed anton, his voice quiet and shy. but he couldn't help himself. to be with her was all he wanted right now. his heart was pounding so loud he could only hear his heart ringing in his ears.
anton caressed her face, as she leaned into him, closing the distance between the two as their lips collided with each other. once they separated, anton's face flushed, looking away. he felt like his heart could burst at any minute.
building the courage to look back at her again, his heart raced even faster as she laughed at him, her cheeks as rosy as the roses in the garden.
hearing the sound of the ensemble finally playing, akira stood up, offering her hand to the boy, "would you like a dance with me?"
anton rolled his eyes jokingly, grinning as he accepted her hand.
"just so you know, i've never danced before," confessed anton, placing a hand around her waist and the other on her shoulder while both of her hands rested on his broad shoulders.
"well i'm glad to be your first then," smiled akira as they swayed to the music, basking under the moonlight.
"you're everything i've ever dreamed of, princess," gushed anton.
"don't call me that," snorted akira. she leaned her head against his chest, hearing the fast pacing of his heartbeat.
"is it okay? for a person like me to be in love with you. i mean. i'm just a normal person," spoke anton, a hint of sadness in his voice, "i work at a bar and you...you're a princess,"
"i'm just a person like everyone else. and i want you to see me as me," akari stopped swaying to the music and lifted her head to face anton. she brushed away a long strand of hair that covered his face, "and besides, i love you as you are my prince,"
anton felt like he could've died happy right there and then. if it was even possible, he was blushing even harder.
"and i love you as you are,"
tilting his head down, anton closed the space between them again, his soft lips meeting hers as he brought her closer by the waist.
under the moonlight, they professed their love for each other and shared a happy ending.
My current top 15 Anime and why
Because why the fuck not. I'm doing top 15 so that I have some variety behind it. Otherwise I would just be gushing non stop XD
Apparently numbers go big now - AND THEY GO SMALLER IF YOU TRY TO TYPE IN THE SAME LINE AS THEM???
comparison:
15
15 -
DA HECK????
(Edit: I was going to colour all the numbers because I wanted a rainbow. WHY THE FUCK FOR THEY CHANGE TO SMALL WHEN YOU COLOUR THEM??????)
Guess the titles of the anime get a small heading. Anyways. Onto the actual list!
15
Technoroid OVERMIND
Ayo. Starting out with a really random one. So if anyone were to look at my Anilist then they might be a bit confused. I decided I'd keep movies out of here as well as anything I haven't specifically finished. Also takt op. Destiny needs a re evaluation.
Anyways. This premise is so sick and I feel like they managed it really well. The characters were all really fun and the music was fantastic which is honestly the most important thing about Idol shows. I really like idol shows but often struggle with the stupid drama in them that just leads to seasons upon seasons that didn't need to happen or wouldn't actually happen.
In this they're just androids. The fantasy twist works so well for the genre and I honestly don't know why it isn't done more often. This way they can bullshit the drama and it actually makes sense.
Honestly my favourite character was Kite. He was great and his voice always gave me shivers. Especially his piece in the closing. Damn.
I don't want to go into full reviews with this, rather just gushing about things I like and stuff. I really don't think this got the recognition it deserves - probably because of it's deviation from the norm - but it would be cool to get some sort of sequel.
(Edit: There's a manga releasing apparently. Imma check that out.)
14
UniteUp!
Continuing on with the trend of idol animes apparently. UniteUp! was so good. As I mentioned in my Reviews while I watch of the show, it felt so grounded and real that other idol shows just don't seem to capture. These were all real people with real problems dealing with real life.
I also like how we had such a large cast of characters but it never really felt overwhelming as they focused on group dynamics and specific individuals rather than trying to cram every single person into their own arcs.
Once again the music was fantastic and by god was this show pretty gay. Honestly I don't know what the sentiments of others are, but the Anela duo definitely weren't straight and neither were Akira and Daiki. That bath scene says it all.
Anyways. If you want a fun time with a really solid idol anime, please check it out. I saw earlier that we're getting a season two soon. I am so looking forward to it.
13
Trigun Stampede
Damn! I don't even know what to really say about this one. The visuals are absolutely stunning - there is no doubt about that. The score and the characters are excellent. And how dare they leave us on that cliff hanger.
I have absolutely no history with this story and still need to watch and read the originally but I am really looking forward to seeing how the story adapts between the three.
You can ask my partner. I've already said we're watching everything trigun related as soon as we are done with our current show.
I'm really looking forward to season two. And especially seeing how this all pans out. Apparently there will be tears according to the fandom. Concern.
12
Re-main
Damn this show came out of nowhere for me. I watched it quite awhile ago and have been meaning to rewatch it again.
The premise is definitely a sports anime but honestly so different. All because of one thing. The fact that he is an amnesiac is such a fascinating concept to work with - especially with how he was before (trying not to spoil - can't remember when this comes up in the anime)
And then the ending?? Damn. They seriously set up that cliff hanger and I really hope this show gets a sequel.
I really can't say too much about it without giving away some spoilers but damn does it change up the formula and do it so fucking well.
11
Given
Given is great. Such a pure but heartbreaking portrayal of love on one side with such conflicting but also nurturing views on the other. Having the different realtionships throughout this is really well done how they all bounce off of each other. Especially when they entertwine it with the music.
As it is said. That is how they communicate - through the music.
I'm busy catching up with the manga and really hope the anime continues with it.
Also the fucking is just fucking gorgeous. It has no write to hit you that hard.
Also - something else that shouldn't be allowed to hit you that hard. Damn Mafuyu has had a difficult past. We love how he learns to heal and grow with Uenoyama at his side.
Anyways, moving on.
10
Bakuten!!
Okay. Who said a sports anime could be this pretty.
I love the art style and the music throughout all of this. I love the portayal and the evolution of these character - seriously all their arcs are great. The interactions of the team is so tangible and real.
I watch a lot of sports anime and I often struggle with some of the drama used within the sports - it feels like the only thing that ever fuels the story is the matches. Whereas in Bakuten - the character seriously fuel the story. You can understand their motivations much more than just - I want to play this sport and be the best!
I also feel like they really captured everything really well in the movie. The whole concept of wanting to sore is great and really well executed.
I also love the interactions they have with the other team. It's not just a once off competition or practice match that they face each other. We actually get tangible characters for the whole team and see how much they two teams are similar to one another. It's a very healthy rivalry that isn't normally this expanded on in sports anime.
9
Sasaki and Miyano
Yesssssss. These two are just absolutely amazing. Their whole story arc and relationship is just tooth rottingly sweet. They bounce off of each other so well.
And I love the fact of how slow the actual story is. They meet at the start of Miyanos first year (from what I know - I still need to read the novels) and sasaki's second and they only end up confessing just before graduation happens. It really plays out well and is so healthy.
There is no problematic elements like in so many BL stories which is such a breath of fresh air. And the fact that sasaki is very specific about making sure to maintain boundaries to ensure that miyano is comfortable is also excellent.
On a slightly different note - I still need to see the Hirano and Kagiura movie. Been dying to watch it. I've been keeping up to date with both manga and both of these stories are amazing. I love the dichotomy of the two stories and how they are coming to their own realisations of their feelings in honestly very different ways.
I also recently watched the dub of the anime due to some videos on tiktok. Fucking hell it is absolutely hilarious. Kellen Goff as Sasaki has no reason for being that good. Seriously. Damn.
8
Link Click
On a completely different note. Damn this one makes you questions your own morals and reality as you know it.
I really don't want to get into this one much as I do believe watching it blind is the best way to go.
The art style is fantastic and that opening hits like a truck it is so good. The characters just click (pun not intended) and you just understand their motivations and don't know which side to side with most of the time. It brings about such high moral dilemmas that will seriously mess with your brain sometimes and there is one episode that will likely make you cry.
Anyways. Season 2 has just started airing and I am so ready for it.
7
Buddy Daddies
Why did a show about two queer platonic dudes who adopt a child while beings assassins hit so damn hard.
The show jumps between episodes with backstory and episodes with them just being good dads and it is balanced so well. This anime won't end up getting a sequel most likely with how it ended but damn I wouldn't say no to one.
Rei is my favourite character and I relate to him far too much. His interactions with the world are so fascinating and his whole arc with Miri is honestly some of the best media I've seen.
I absolutely loved watching this show weekly and it always brightened up my day when I realised a new episode would be up.
If you would like further thoughts on this one then check the Reviews while I watch on it for more chaos.
6
No Game No Life
So. This was the first ever anime that I ever watched. It was a random recomendation from a friend. Look at where we are today.
This show is honestly just so fun. The characters are silly and the whole plot is just absolute chaos. I really enjoy the games aspect and how it was all incorporated into the world.
I can't even really say much about it. It is just a guilty pleasure of mine and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Also. Please can it just get a second season already.
5
Assassination Classroom
So. Unlike everything else on the list - this one I only finished really recently. My partner and I were watching it together. And to put it out there straight away. I cried. That ending was far too emotional.
I really enjoyed the humour throughout the whole thing as well as the constant underlying dread of the whole situation.
They also really played out Koro-senseis backstory really well. The teasing to it was excellent. I must say though that one of the twists seriously came out of left field. Like damn.
I've just recently bought the boxset and am reading through the manga. Once again. It's absolutely amazing.
Also the openings of them all jumping are absolutely fucking hilarious and you can't tell me otherwise.
If you want to know what officially sold me on the show was just in the first episode. (Note we watched in dub)
Tumblr media
Don't ask me why but I found this to be the most hilarious thing ever. The absurdity and the line delivery was magnificent. I annoy my partner by quoting it atleast once a day.
4
Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan
Speaking of comedies. This show has no right to be this good. The absudist dead pan comedy in the middle of whats meant to be a TV show is such a random premise but just works so well.
Due to the nature of the show, the characters are extremely relateable. I especially love Kumatani and Kikaku.
If your on the same side of anime tiktok that I am then you have definitely seen/heard snippets of the dub.
I think this was the first anime that I originally watched in sub and then tried it in dub and actually enjoyed it. (I often find that whatever I originally watched it in is the only one I can watch it in - it's very difficult for me to change it)
The voice acting on both sides just works perfectly for the show. And that final episode and how they did it was the best thing ever.
Please just give it a try.
3
Angel Beats
Okay. Time for a hard hitter. This comedy like assassintaion classroom is fucking excellent but will make you cry, like damn.
In complete and utter contrast to No game no life, this was the second anime I had ever watched. I had found a video that gave some suggestions and thought I would give this one a try. When I say it destoryed me, I mean it literally. I constantly think about the end of this and I absolutely love revisiting it.
The twist and turns along the way are fascinating and I love how each one alters the characters and the narrative. Each of the characters feel unique - even the lesser developed side characters - with fascinating and complex backstories.
The whole thing just makes you question your own place in life.
2
Moriarty the Patriot
Another one I just randomly tried because I saw a video on tiktok. The first episode immediately pulled me in. I thought it was just going to be some simple detective story (At the time I didn't know much about Sherlock Holmes and who Moriaty was so I didn't have any of that to guide me into this story.) But nope.
I keep saying this but in this one I really mean it. The characters are built so well. The dichotomy between William and Sherlock - as the fandom would probably agree - is just amazing. How they bounce off of each other - i don't even know how to really descirbe it.
Honestly just go watch it.
And if you enjoyed the anime - please go check out the manga too. If the anime was done well - then the manga is done to lamost perfection.
This show was what got me into reading and then eventually buying manga. I now have every single one that is out.
1
Yuri!!! on ICE
Did I make the title gay? Yes.
Okayyyyy. This is just going to be me going on about how much I love this show. Bare with me.
So I was in an anime watching slump just before I picked up this show. I had been seeing some videos popping up talking about it and decided to give it a try (this was in 2020)
I immediately fell in love with this show. Literally everything about it. I ended up rewatching it three times over the course of a week. It got to a point where I was so upset that there wasn't more content for it that I just cried for half a day. (Ask my partner - it was chaos)
This show is the reason I now read fanfiction - all because I found a way to technically have more content for it.
This show holds such an important place in my heart that I sincerely cannot express it properly.
If you've never watched it - go give it a try. It would mean a lot - and hopefully one day we might get a season two.
----
Thanks for reading, if you managed to get to this point. I find it interesting how my explanations managed to slowly get shorter throughout the list as I just started becoming more emotional than factual.
I hope you enjoyed it and maybe grabbed a recommendation or two. If you'd like to know more or hear me ramble on more about anything in particular then please let me know.
Rather Than Wishing Upon A Star In Vain // Mithra SSR Card Story
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 1
(City of Stella)
As I wandered around the stalls throughout the festival, I felt a familiar figure approach me.
Akira: "Hi, Mithra!"
Mithra: "Good evening, Master Sage."
Akira: "Since we're both here, shall we browse around together?"
Mithra: "Sure, why not. I haven't got much to do anyways..."
Mitile: "Heave-ho!"
(Smack)
Mitile: "Aww, missed again... This is difficult..."
Hearing a certain someone's voice, we turned our heads towards one of the stands. There, we saw Mitile trying his utmost to score at one of the festival's games.
Akira: "Hey, Mitile, what's up?"
Mitile: "Oh! Hello, Master Sage! And Mister Mithra... I've been trying to throw this ball for so long, but I can't seem to do it right."
Mitile: "Apparently, if you manage to hit any of the prizes hung on the platform, you get to take it home with you. But..."
Akira: "Alright then, let me give it a try! Which one do you want?"
Mitile: "That bag on the right! It's got lots and lots of star-shaped konpeito in it!"
Mithra: "I can just get it for you, you know."
Mitile: "Y-You can...?"
Mithra: "All I have to do is throw the ball at it, right?"
Mitile: "P-Pretty much, yeah. Here, you aim it like thisー"
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
Akira: "Whoa, the ball's floating!"
Mitile: "M-Mister Mithra, you can't do that! It's against the rules..."
Stall Owner: "Oh, Lord! A-A wizard! Y-Yer a... wizard...!"
Upon witnessing Mithra use magic, the stall's owner abruptly yelled out in distress.
Mithra: "Well, yes, I am. I am Mithra of the North."
Stall Owner: "Mithra o' the North... I reckon I've heard that name before... They say yer a heinous tyrant, the devil incarnate himself...!"
Mithra: "Heh, you know me quite well it seems."
Akira: "(I should step in, shouldn't I...) H-He's also a Sage's Wizard, among other... things."
Akira: "Mithra's not one to resort to violence without rhyme or reason. As the Sage, I can personally vouch for that."
Stall Owner: "Aha... So yer the Sage? Well, not that I'd know even if ye were lyin' to me, but yer quite the character, millin' about with them wizards."
Stall Owner: "Ah, whatever. I suppose wizards from other countries don' really have a reason to be conning us folk. Go on, play all ya like."
Stall Owner: "That goes for ya too, lil' mister."
Mitile: "T-Thank you, sir!"
Though still slighty wary, the owner took the ball from the cage and offered it to us.
Mithra: "Good. Now, let's see..."
Mithra: "<Arthiー>"
Mitile: "Umー! Just a moment... please."
CHAPTER 2
Mithra: "What is it this time? Don't you want that sack anymore?"
Mithra: "I'm going to get it for you in a bit, so just stay put, will you?"
Mitile: "I... Appreciate that, but this still feels like cheating, and I don't like that..."
Mitile: "So, I'm going to get it myself! Without magic!"
Mithra: "Goodness gracious... Nevermind."
Mithra undid the spell he had cast upon the ball. It fell and rolled on the ground, a stone's throw away from the target.
Mithra: "This is what I get for trying to be nice. How utterly vexing."
Mithra: "Oh well, not like I cared about this in the first place."
Mitile: "...Thank you, Mister Mithra. Now, watch closely. I'm going to hit it on the first tryー!"
(Some time later…)
Mitile: "Heave-ho!!"
Akira: "Mitile! You got it!"
Mitile: "Hooray!"
After many strenuous attempts, the ball finally hit the target. Having successfully acquired his prize, a satisfied smile graced Mitile's face.
Mitile: "Look, Master Sage! I got it! I really got it!"
Akira: "That's amazing, Mitile!"
Mitile: "Eheheh! I should also thank you, Mister Mithra! See, I was able to get it with my own two hands!"
Mithra: "I still don't get it. It would've been so much quicker if you had simply used magic."
Mitile: "That's true, but putting effort into making your wishes come true feels much more rewarding..."
Akira: "You wished for something, Mitile?"
Mitile: "Mhm. I heard that if you get a bunch of star-shaped things at this festival, your will get your wishes granted."
Mitile: "That's why I really wanted this bag full of konpeito. ...Here you are."
Akira: "Aw, Mitile... Are you sure you want me to have this?"
Mithra: "I'm beginning to think you didn't really want this if you're willing to share it."
Mitile: "You two stayed by my side and encouraged me to continue, so... It's only right that I give you some as thanks."
Mitile: "I'm going to look for more stars, then! See you!"
(Distancing footsteps)
And with that, Mitile skittered away merrily, the bag of konpeito tightly clutched to his chest.
Akira: "Sounds kind of romantic, doesn’t it? Collecting star-shaped things to get your wishes granted, I mean."
Mithra: "Do you actually believe that? Surely there are other, more practical ways to get what you want."
Mithra: "You have Mithra of the North standing right before you. Anything you want, I can make it come true."
Akira: "...You will do that? For me?"
Mithra: "Of course. There's nothing I can't do. Come on, ask for something. Say, anyone you want me to do away with?"
Akira: "No, I don't have anyone like that... Um, I'm a little thirsty, so if you could get me something to drink..."
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
Mithra: "Interesting. It appears Nero's making some concoction out of pressed fruits. I'll go and get it for you."
Akira: "J-Just like that?! A-Ask him first, perhaps...?"
Mithra: "He won't mind. Anything else?"
Akira: "Well... I've been walking around for a while, and I'm a little tired, so it'd be nice if I could sit down for a minute."
Mithra: "As you wish. <Arthim>"
CHAPTER 3
Akira: "Is this... A chair from the manor's dining hall?"
Mithra: "It is. Since you're used to sitting on it, I thought it'd be the best choice."
Akira: ("That's true, but... I wonder if anyone's been sitting on it until now...")
Mithra: "Come on, take a seat. What would you like next?"
Akira: "That will be all. Thank you, Mithra."
Mithra: "Really? You're satisfied with this little?"
Rather malcontent, Mithra's dark-green eyes wander off to the stall we were at earlier.
Mithra: "Since you said you wanted to collect those start things, I assume there's still something you want?"
Akira: "Well, yea, it sounded interesting, so it made me want to try it for myself."
Akira: "But, rather than collecting them to have my wish granted, I'd like to collect them for the fun of it..."
Akira: "Mitile looked so happy when he got that bag of konpeito. I mean, how can he not. They're so sparkly and pretty, just like little stars."
Mithra: "...I see. You should've said so sooner."
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
(Woosh)
(Somewhere up in the sky)
Before I knew it, Mithra had seated us atop his broom. Glancing upwards, we saw the night sky, adorned with millions of stars, in all its stellar glory.
Akira: "...Wow...!"
Mithra: "You wanted the stars, right? Is this good enough?"
Prompted by Mithra's words, I reached out my hand towards the sky. Beyond my fingertips, the stars shone like polished jewels.
Amidst a sky so dreadfully dark you could get lost in it, never to return, the stars bestowed a gentle, soothing glow from afar.
Akira: "...It's so, so beautiful... I feel like if I just keep reaching out like this, I could actually grab one..."
Akira: "If I had this many stars, my wishes would all come true in the matter of seconds... Thank you for bringing me here, Mithra."
Mithra: "No need to. This is the least I can do."
A perfunctory answer typical for Mithra. And yet, his voice was laced with the faintest bit of mirth.
Mithra: "Now you know that should you ever want anything, you can come and find me."
Mithra: "I will grant you whatever it is you may want, and much better than some petty star."
Akira: "...Mm, I will. Next time I think of something, I'll definitely ask you first."
Mithra: "...If you insist."
Mithra turned around. In his eyes, I could see the reflection of the stars.
Captivated by those little luminaries said to grant one's wishes, I didn't dare blink, for I wanted to remember this view forever.
Mithra's Wish // Card Training Episode
(Manor Lounge)
Akira: "Thank you for going along with my caprices last time, Mithra."
Mithra: "You didn't ask for who-knows-what, so there's nothing to thank me for."
Akira: "Still, it made me very happy. And now, it's my turn to do something for you."
Mithra: "You mean to tell me you can grant a wish of mine?"
Mithra: "What if I asked you to make me the strongest in the world? Or to bring me the greatest legendary beast there is, so I can eat it and fill my stomach for centuries to come?"
Akira: "U-Um, perhaps something a human like me can do... For example, I could cook you your favourite meal!"
Mithra: "Hm. Let's go to my room then."
Akira: "You want me to... cook in your room? I mean, why not, I need to fetch a few ingredients firstー..."
Mithra: "We can do that later. The things you can do for me can be counted on one hand."
Mithra: "If you want to do something for me that badly, put me to sleep, please."
Homescreen Voiceline
Mithra: "No matter how long or hard you wish upon a star, there's no proof that what you want will come true. Stop wasting your time and come here. I trust you haven't forgotten you have a duty at night. If you like the stars so much, I'll simply give you some of my sugar."
Akira dreams of Akechi
Author: c-o-t-o
Characters: Akira Kurusu x Goro Akechi
CW: none, sfw
Misc: ~1.4k words
About: Akira dreamt that Akechi cooked for him and tells Akechi about it. In the hopes that acting it out will stop Akira from dreaming about him constantly, Akechi pays a visit to LeBlanc to prepare a home cooked meal.
*Do not remove info or credit from posts when reblogging or sharing!*
‘I had a dream where Akechi made a home-cooked meal for me…’ Akira recalled to himself upon waking up. He grabs his phone that's half stuck under a sleeping Mona to tell Akechi about it.
“Another dream about me?" Akechi responds. “At least it's better than the dream you had of us at the beach with your bathing suit shorts washing away…"
Akira chuckled. He didn't know why he was always dreaming of Akechi, but lately he found himself enjoying those dreams more and more. As he and Akechi became closer friends, those dreams started to feel somewhat warm and fuzzy to him. Akira found himself feeling flustered around Akechi now, sometimes getting nervous for no real reason.
Akira got up and ready to help Sojiro downstairs in the cafe for his morning regulars. Sojiro was teaching Akira how to roast his own coffee beans, about the different kinds of roasts and brewing methods, and he kind of loved it. He was able to make drinks for the regulars now, some say even better than Sojiro himself.
Around noon when it quieted down, Akira was startled by the bell suddenly ringing from the front door opening. A customer around this time?
To his surprise, it was Akechi. More specifically, Akechi holding a shopping bag with a look of annoyance on his face.
“I'm here to…” Akechi’s face contorts as if he doesn't want to say the words. "I'm here to make you a home cooked meal. Maybe this will stop you from having all those goddamn dreams about me.”
Akira stands behind the counter in his apron blushing, trying to figure out if he's excited about the idea of Akechi cooking for him, or if he's nervous because they're alone. They've spent so much time together before, but it was usually in a public place with others around. It's been a while since the two of them have been alone by themselves. Especially since Akira started having these dreams and feelings.
Akechi takes his jacket off, rolling up his sleeves, and putting a spare apron on as he rounds the counter. He starts tying his apron at his back when he looks at Akira whose cheeks are still red. Akechi huffs through his nose, still looking annoyed.
“Don't get excited about this, I'm only doing it so that your freaky dreams about me stop. Maybe if I can act out one of your dreams it'll satisfy your subconscious." Akechi combs his fingers through his hair. “And then you can stop texting me EVERY MORNING about them."
Akira awkwardly smiles as Akechi brings the groceries into the kitchen. He didn't realize he was bothering Akechi with all his texts about his dreams, but at the very least it lead to them hanging out again.
“Usually curry is everyone's go-to for a simple meal, but I won't attempt that here. Even I know I'd be a fool for trying to make curry in Sojiro’s place.” Akechi takes the ingredients out one by one, looking at some almost questioningly, before placing them on the counter.
Akira starts looking through the ingredients when Akechi lightly slaps his hand away.
“No. I have to be the one to cook it all, or this might not work.” Akechi's eyebrows narrow as pinches the bridge of his nose. " Why don't you… go sit down or something.”
Akechi flicks his phone screen with his thumb to scroll through the recipe he found online for some stew. He figured it would be hard to mess up something where all he had to do was boil chunks of beef and vegetables together and add some sauces and seasonings.
“Simple enough," Akechi mutters to himself. As he starts chopping the vegetables he looks up to see Akira watching him from the counter, chin resting on his folded hands. “Why are you so quiet? You haven't said a word since I came here." Akechi said with an air of annoyance.
“Sorry," Akira mutters softly. "First I dreamt you were cooking for me, and now you're actually here... I'm just excited."
Akechi's face becomes flush, so he lets his hair fall over his face to cover up the red that has spread across his cheeks. He breathes out quickly through his nose as if to laugh.
Akira studies Akechi carefully, noticing that he's following a video as he chops everything and adds ingredients to the pot.
‘How much did he prepare for this? He even found a video to make sure he did it right,’ Akira thinks to himself.
While Akechi finishes cooking, Akira brews coffee for them with beans he had just roasted a few days ago. He had been letting them rest for a few days and was excited to finally try them.
Finally, Akchi walks two bowls over to the bar counter and places the bowls by each of their coffee cups. He looks at Akira questioningly at the sight of the drinks.
“I roasted and brewed this coffee myself, I hope you like it." He grabs the coffee cup and holds it up to his mouth as a way to use his hands to hide his blush. The flavor was deep and chocolatey and came out even better than he expected.
As Akechi sat down next to him, his leg and arm brushed against Akira’s, causing him to momentarily choke at the feeling. Why was he getting so flustered? Although… now he notices a faint smell of cologne coming from Akechi. Did he always have some on? Was it only today? Before his thoughts could wander more, Akechi grumbles and holds a spoon of stew out to Akira.
“C’mon already. Eat. Before it gets cold…” Akechi says with a look of annoyance on his face. It quickly turns to one of embarrassment as Akira takes the bite from the spoon being offered to him. Akechi opens his mouth to retort, but closes it, blushing. Looking away with his eyes, he asks Akira how it tastes.
“It's really good, I can't believe it." Akira’s eyes widen in surprise as he eats the stew. He honestly expected Akechi to mess it up somehow.
“Why are you so surprised? It doesn't take a genius to follow a recipe…” Akichi retorts. He stops himself though, and sighs. Still looking away, he slightly mumbles, “Thank you. I'm glad you like it."
Without thinking about it, Akechi uses the same spoon he just fed Akira with and uses it to feed himself. Akira stares at him completely blushed at the same moment Akechi freezes with the spoon in his mouth, suddenly realizing the same thing. Him eating from the same spoon is like sharing an indirect kiss. He slowly pulls the spoon out of his mouth and chews his food, eyes spaced out on nothing in particular ahead of him.
“Not. A. Word." Akechi threatens.
Neither of them realized that Mona had wandered downstairs. All he knew was that the two of them were eating and suddenly heard Akechi threatening Akira. Out of spite, Mona jumped up on the counter and swiped Akechi's bowl off the table. Akira heard Mona snickering to himself before running off somewhere.
“Aaghhh! Your cat! He-" Akechi stands up abruptly and tries to wipe the stew off his clothes. “My stew! My clothes…” he said aggravated.
"I'm so sorry! Let me get you a change of clothes so I can wash yours.” Akira pleads. After a few minutes, Akechi returns wearing Akira’s spare gym clothes. " I'm sorry about him,” Akira says, referring to Mona. "And I'm sorry we didn't really get to eat your stew.”
Akechi sits at the countertop that Akira cleaned while he changed. He takes the warm coffee in his hands and, after sipping it, grimaces.
“Damn it," he quietly mutters to himself. “How is this so good…” he continues drinking Akira's coffee with a mixture of satisfaction and annoyance. In the end, he wasn't really able to give Akira a home cooked meal, not completely. And Akira brewed this incredible coffee, somewhat outdoing anything Akechi could have made.
Akechi tries to rack his brain for ideas on how to live out one of Akira's dreams so that maybe they'll finally stop. He really believes acting one of them out might satisfy Akira enough. He rests the coffee cup on the counter, still holding it to warm his hands. Akechi looks down into the coffee, once again letting his hair fall over his face to hide the immense blush covering it when he asks Akira his question shyly.
“Should we… try going to the beach next time…?”
Hello~~!!! ヾ(´⌣`)ノ Hope this is allowed but can I request HCs for Akira Kurusu x Reader, where reader is based on Yor from spy x family?? Shy, timid, a bit clumsy and a terrible cook in her usual life — but in the metaverse, reader is more efficient and is, i guess, 'bloodthirsty' when taking care of shadows (╭ರ_•́) ?? Oh and also, just a tiny bonus: but reader getting flustered when she gets caught during the heat of the moment, insecure or embarrassed up to you tbh (you can choose whether or not to include this in the writing, all up to you bab) ANYWAYS take however long you want to write this and no need to rush!! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ and stay SLAYINGGGG
Akira Kurusu with an S/O who is like Yor from Spy x Family
Note: I haven't seen Spy x Family, so I apologize that this isn't what you wanted. I looked at the Spy x Family Wiki and watch some compilations to get more of an idea of what she is like a little bit more. It might not be good. You stay slaying too!
You were pretty shy when you first met Kurusu.
And straightforward
"Why are you staring at me?"
Then a few different events later, you two start to hang out.
Kurusu notices that you are a little bit clumsy at times.
He notices that you're an awful cook. He can simply smell a few feet away.
He offers you that he can teach you to learn how to cook. You gladly accepted.
It went terrible.
The food taste awful despite Kurusu's guidance.
You kept on apologizing to Kurusu of all your cooking failures. He keeps resurging you that you will be a good cook with practice.
Though one time, you put...something into the curry. Kurusu doesn't know what it is, but it made the curry purple and have a smell that could kill.
He asks you what you put into the curry, and you showed a posted from someone named Amagi Yukiko. He looked more into the account made by Amagi Yukiko. Needless to say, that blog is banned in the kitchen.
Akira also notices that you look...a little more interested into the blades in the kitchen. He keeps that in his mind.
When the two of you started dating, he notices that you can't handle affection like a kiss. Your shyness basically presents itself loudly. He understands if it's too much for you and can wait when you are ready.
You feel like you're not being a good lover due to Akira declining your hang-out invitations.
He always let you know that you are the best lover ever.
One day, you got curious about what he does. That was the day Akira learned another part of you.
You got transported into the Metaverse. Surprise and shock fills your mind as you look at Akira and his buddies. They were the Phantom Thieves.
A girl with big goggles points you out, making the rest of the gang looking at you with shock.
You asked on what they were doing.
A guy with a skull mask responded, "W-We're just cosplayers!"
"Wow. Pretty cool cosplays. Are the big guys cosplayers too?" You pointed at what you didn't know was, shadows.
The Phantom Thieves get into formation. Akira, who his friends called him "Joker", tells you to get back. He tells you that they are doing a "quick play"
Wanting to see this play, you went back and watch. You saw these things called "Personas" being summoned. You just thought to yourself, "Cool holograms."
Then you notice the blood. The blood isn't fake. You know that. The group is failing. They are being defeated in this "play."
Akira yelled out for you to run, you did the exact opposite. You approach this "man." Who looks like demons.
You felt anger going through your veins. The demon charge at you. Akira yelled. Before the demon strike, you took out your knife and stab its head. You kicked it out of the way as you start to attack the other shadows. The Thieves watch in amazement as you savagely fight the shadows. You dodged quickly from the shadows attacks. In one of the fire attacks, you barely miss, as the heat of the flames softly touched your skin. You stab, beat, kick, punched, whatever you did in order to protect Akira.
After all the shadows perish, you turn to look at the Phantom Thieves. Your serious look turned into shock as you are trying to find an excuse.
"I-I also do p-plays! Y-Yeah! S-Sorry..." You cover your face in embarrassment
The blonde guy turns to Joker, "Dude, we need them in our team."
Thus, you were given the code name "Thorn"
