I lowkey want one of those "live laugh love" type house signs that says "come freely, go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring" for the entryway of my house someday. I think it'd be hilarious, but it's also lowkey a nice greeting in its own way, if perhaps mildly ominous... What a nice way to set a welcoming vibe! ;)

Hello, could you maybe do one shots of Xiao and whoever else you like saying “who hurt you”? I love the work you put out so far, and I’m really curious to see what you right. 😁
A price to be paid
Characters Included: Xiao, Wanderer/Scaramouche, Kazuha, Tighnari
Summary: When they notice you being hurt, no matter if physically or emotionally, they will stop at nothing, to make you smile again..
Content: established relationship; gender neutral reader; swearing; Scara is being refered to as Kunikuzushi/Kuni; talk about violence; physical and emotional wounds; not proof read yet
Word count: 2.1k words
Well... I said I wouldn't be taking any requests for the time being, and I still stand by that, I am NOT taking requests as of now. Maybe in the future, if work stuff calms down a little. But, with that being said, I read that comment and instantly had some ideas in my head, so I decided to write it anyway.
Since you didn't specify any other characters except for Xiao, I just went with some of my faves, who just so happen to be most of the anemo boys😂
I tried to keep it short and simple this time around, it worked more or less. And as always, I hope you enjoy reading!
Tumblr media
Xiao
One of the most protective boys in my opinion
I mean, it's basically 90% of his personality (I say this in a loving way)
Sure, he is devoted to Liyue and Rex Lapis, but you? That's a whole nother story
Would go to the end of the world and back for you of you wanted him to
Absolutely nothing he wouldn't do
So, when someone dares to harm you, in whatever way, his inital instinct would be to seek out that person to... "talk" to them
Don't worry, he won't kill them. He swore to never kill another human (but that doesn't mean he can't hurt or scare them)
You'll have to talk Xiao out of going after them (depending on what they did to you)
Please try to understand him though, he just wants to make sure that you are fine, he couldn't handle to loose another loved one
Very awkward and unsure in how to give you comfort. He never really had to deal with these kinds of emotions
Will ask you what you need from him and he will do that for you
It was like second nature for Xiao to keep a watchful eye on you at all times. Not in a stalker-type of way. He knew when to keep his distance and he had other things to do as well. But he still watched out for you, to make sure that you were safe.
You were one of the only good things in his life, after all. What good would he be if he couldn't even protect you, the one most dear in his heart, though he still had his troubles showing and expressing that fact from time to time.
But his worry and devotion to you became all the more clear to you when one day, he returned to Wangshuu Inn, finding you there on the balcony while you cried your heart out.
Xiao's inital shock quickly faded as he ran over to you, carefully picked you up from the floor and brought you over to a room that Verr Goldet has granted him a while ago but he rarely used for himself.
You continued to cry into his shoulder, dampening his shirt, but he didn't care. Right now, you were his number one priority.
Unsure of what to do, he opted to slowly putting his hand on your head. He silently let you cry it all out until you finally calmed down a little bit.
Once you did, he slowly pushed you away just a little bit, gently putting his hands on your cheeks as he looked at you with a stern expression.
"Who did that to you? Who hurt you?"
But you just shook your head in response. "That's not important right now. I just... Can you stay with me? Please..?"
So he did. He stayed close by your side, the entire night and in the morning, he was still there right by you. Although he did want to set out and find whoever was responsible for making you feel that way, you always came first.
And, just to give you a little bit of extra comfort, he held you just a little bit closer than he usually would, just so you would feel safe and cared for.
Tumblr media
Scaramouche/Wanderer
That person better start running
He would NOT go easy on them
If he sees you hurt in whatever way, shape or form, he will make the person responsible for this, pay
Although he left his life as Scaramouche, the Sixth of the Fatui Harbingers, behind him, didn't mean that he was a total good guy all of a sudden
No, there were still some traces of that life in him, and sometimes, with a good reason of course, it felt good to act on those thoughts and feelings every once in a while
However, he will make sure that you are taken care of first before he sets out to seek revenge in your name
The Wanderer was in the comfort of your shared home, awaiting your return from the last of your commissions. He was looking forward to a relaxed evening with you in his arms and no one to disrupt.
However, as the door to your home swung open more violently than it usually did, he already had a strange gut feeling that something was off.
Nonetheless, he still went to check it out, only to be frozen in place when he saw you standing in the doorway, one hand holding onto your stomach, while blood seeped through your clothing.
"K-kuni..", you managed to whisper, before your knees gave out. He quickly rushed to your side, catching you before you could crash to the floor. Aftee that, he scooped you up and ran like the devil himself was after him. He needed to get you help.
But first...
"Y/N, I need to know... who hurt you?"
You looked up at him, seeing the always focused and serious expression on his face. But if you listened closely, you could hear the faintest tremble in his voice. Like he was scared of losing you (which he was, he just never would admit to it out loud).
You were able to mumble the name of your attacker before you couldn't hold on anymore and fell into unconsciousness. But that was enough for him.
As soon as he dropped you of at the Bimarsthan and made sure the doctors and nurses there were caring for you, the mask quickly fell of his face, as his gaze turned darker and more sinister than it has in a while.
He left Sumeru City within the hour to track down the person responsible. Preparations weren't necessary for him. For the worst that he could do to that person, he was able to do with his bare hands..
..
It took the Wanderer two days to find your attacker, but he managed it. Archons, how pathetic they sounded when they begged him for their life.
He did spare them (he swore to never go back to his old ways after all) but that didn't mean that he couldn't fuck them up a little bit. And he did. They may have wished they were dead by the end of it, but the Wanderer would not grant them that wish.
..
After returning to Sumeru City, he immediatly went to the Bimarsthan, to check on your condition.
The doctors informed him that you were doing good, but you were still weak and sleeping most of the time.
He stayed by your bedside the entire time you were there, drifting in and out if sleep. He never let you out of his sight, watching over you and making sure you woulh heal well.
Often times, when you were fast asleep, he would press light kisses on the back of your hand, mostly to reassure himself that you were fine and not going to leave him behind anytime soon.
Tumblr media
Kazuha
Kazuha is a compassionate guy and it shows in the way he cares for you
He always puts your comfort before his own, no matter the circumstances
Didn't like how crowded the place got? Don't worry, he will get you out of there in no time
Bored? He will always have a poem or a soft tune ready for you to listens to
You have an activity you want to do with him? Best believe he is more than excited to follow your lead and share another beautiful moment with you
Kazuha knows how to handle his words and actions. He is a controlled guy, it's very hard to get him upset or something of the sort
You are, and will always be, his number one priority. Nothing could be more important to him, than you
When Kazuha found you in the room that you two had rented for the time you were Staying in Liyue Harbor, he could already hear your quiet sniffling.
He knew youbwere trying to keep yourself silent, so he wouldn't notice and worry too much about you.
But you must have forgotten that he was your boyfriend for a reason. It was quite literally his job to worry and care for you. So for you to try and hide how you felt, he felt a little insulted himself.
But alas, it wasn't about him right now.
He slowly opened the bedroom door, only a few lights iluminating your figure sitting on the bed. You heard the door opening and instantly froze, frantically trying to wipe your tears, but they only kept coming.
And before you knew it, your wrists were held in the hands of your lover, who sat down next to you, quielty looking at you.
"My dear.. What happened to you? Who hurt you?", he asked, his voice sounding as gentle and calm as always.
"No one important", you muttered. "Just some random guy.. he was making some comments and.. some of them really hurt.."
As you explained the situation to Kazuha, tears started to form again as you recalled the interaction. You didn't want to cry over some stupid shit like that, but your body seemed to think different about it.
"Shhh, it's alright, my love.", Kazuha said as he pulled you closer to him, placing your head onto his neck, while he slowly played with your hair.
"You are safe here. Let it all out, it's going to be okay. I'm here for you." He continued to whisper sweet little things into your ear as you cried until you felt better about it.
Kazuha kept stroking your hair and your back, soothing you while also silently reassuring you of his presence and that he wasn't gonna leave you alone, ever.
Tumblr media
Tighnari
I feel like in Tighnari's case, if you are his partner or even his mate, his more primal instincts would want to take over
If he sees you hurt in any way, he would have to hold himself back to not just attack the first person he sees
Tries to stay calm and rational but is extremely worried about you
Once he's sure that it's nothing life threatening, he's more calm and able to listen to what has happened
Will treat you like you're made of glass for the next few days
It can be annoying, but please bear with him. He just wants to make sure that you will be fine
Depending on what happened, he might go on a little bit of a rant on how to be more careful and avoid such a situation the next time
Will cuddle uo to you and hold you tightly every chance he gets after this incident
"Master Tighnari, we need your help in the infirmary. Someone got hurt while out on patrol in the forest."
The forest watcher couldn't help but sigh as he was dragged away from his own work. Didn't they know how to take care of injured people? He did teach most of them, so why did they need him? Maybe he should hold another course, so that they can learn and do this stuff themselves.
But once he entered the hut, he realised why they went to get him.
There you were, sitting on the bed, an open wound on your left arm. Collei was by your side, trying to clean it, while the pain of it was obvious on your face.
The other forest rangers left the hut as soon as Tighnari entered, but he didn't care for them. He quickly rushed to your side and fell to his knees on the ground, his ears slightly dropped downwards.
"My flower.. what happened to you? Who did that?", he asked, almost impatient to hear your answer.
"Relax, Nari. It's not that big of a deal. I got surprised by a grouo of fungi, but they have been dealt with.", you told him.
Hearing that, his tense state relaxed a bit, bjt his worry was still very much present in the way he looked at you.
"Collei, I'll be taking over from here. Thanks for your work. Could you go to my cottage and grab me the stuff from my desk?"
"Of course, Master!", the young forest ranger said as she hurriedly walked out, leaving you two alone. As he said, Tighnari took over in cleaning the rest of the wound and bandaging it up nicely.
While doing so, he often glanced up to you and you reassured him every time that you were alright, except for the pain in your arm.
He may be quiet now, but you better expect some form of lecture or rant at the end of the day about the hidden dangers in fungi or something of the sort...

I found this interview from when Shaun Evans was promoting S3 of Endeavour in 2016 and thought it was one of the more interesting ones as he gets asked some different questions. I particularly liked seeing him talk a bit about his peers and how he views his career.
Tumblr media
Shaun Evans talks Endeavour series three, Hollywood and whether he'd star in Doctor Who
As Morse returns, the star of the hit ITV drama reveals what's next for his career By David Brown - Radio Times
Falsely accused Endeavour Morse was last seen languishing in a prison cell after being framed for murder. But fans of the hit ITV drama needn't despair - Shaun Evans is back on the case for a third series beginning this evening. Here, the actor talks about life as the Oxford detective, why Morse has endured for four decades and what the future holds...
So what has brought you back to Endeavour for a third series? I didn't feel like we should have left it where we did last time. It would have been odd. As a viewer, I would have been dissatisfied to have left it there because you'd have only been telling half the story. Luckily enough, we had the opportunity to come back to do some more and I think the stories are really good - particularly the final one. It goes along at a lick. It's a bank heist but it's also a love story. And it's heartbreaking. I think it's great and it ends in a really satisfying way.
The character of Morse has now been around for 40 years - why has he endured? A good story well told will stand the test of time. And if you throw in an unusual character - someone who is in a world but not of that world - then that's intriguing.
The original series of Inspector Morse did episodes in Australia and Italy - would you like to do an overseas Endeavour? Well, they keep telling me that the character is going to Spain. But I can take myself to Malaga. I'm joking, but I'm being honest too. There is a Spanish idea, but I'd want it to be right. I don't want this job to be a jolly or something that we take for granted and phone in. There are so many variables to that kind of thing: would the locations be as good? Or the actors? Granted, it would be a laugh to go away with Roger Allam, but would it serve the show?
Does Endeavour Morse become more like you as the series goes on? I think that’s a danger, definitely. The more comfortable and confident you get with something, the easier it could be to be less diligent about creating a character. But then you’d be taking shortcuts that you might not have done three years ago. So I try not to be complacent about it. I want to be even more diligent than I was when I started. But I admit that it's a tricky one.
Having a two-hour slot for a drama seems like a privilege these days - do you worry that viewers' attention spans could be too short to cope? I don’t worry about it at all. I feel like the work we’ve done so far has been very good. Some have been better than others - as would be the case. But I feel pleased with it. Now if audiences change and they feel that the episodes are too long, boring or complicated, then we’ll just stop. That’s OK. But I've seen some crime dramas that try to tell the story in an hour and, for me, it just doesn't work. You’re tyring to set up a killer, set up a world, solve it in an interesting or dynamic way and put in some character stuff as well. It’s nigh on impossible to do in an hour. I don’t think you can do it in a satisfying way. That’s my impression as an audience member.
Fans would be up in arms if you decided to stop Endeavour! No. I don't think that'd happen. It's just work. And they'd just fill it with something else. There'll be another brilliant show.
I think you'd make an ideal Doctor Who - would you like to play that role one day? I’ve never seen it! I think Matt Smith is a brilliant actor. And David Tennant also. But it just wasn’t my thing growing up and I feel like I’ve missed it now. I was in Moscow a few months ago and someone asked me about Doctor Who. And she thought I'd make a good Master. So if you’re offering me a part, then I’ll play the Master.
What about playing James Bond? Well, everyone wants to play James Bond, right? He always gets the girl at the end. And in the middle. And at the beginning, come to think of it. But I think that Daniel Craig would be a tough act to follow. He brings something really interesting to it.
Do you ever look at contemporaries like Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne and think, 'I'd like top billing in a Hollywood movie'? I know both those lads and I like them. But I never really think of my career like that. Of course, you want people to see your work, but I'm not interested in being the next so-and-so. It doesn't attract me. Mainly because it's short lived. It's better to keep working and do interesting stuff.
So being a big Hollywood star isn't all it's cracked up to be? I don't know. I suppose if you had enough clout to guarantee finance for a story you wanted to tell, then that would be a good thing. From a business point of view. But I don't spend my time being envious. There are so many variables in all that bollocks! When you desire fame or fortune - which are ephemeral things - you're building your house on sand, aren't you?
Do you have a dream project that you'd like to do? I'd love to do something about poets or photographers who have done interesting things and left an impression on their portion of the world. Someone like the American photographer Walker Evans. Or the French poet Arthur Rimbaud.
So what's next for you? I'm purposefully having some time off. I've been busy and I'd like a bit of time to read some books and just study. I want to educate myself on writers, photography, filmmaking and poetry. I'm very lucky that I've now got enough money to have a bit of time to myself and study. I'm very lucky to be in that position.

I'm continuing on to the next LotR audio commentary. This one is with the design team, and there's a lot more people talking in this one! Including:
Grant Major (production designer), Ngila Dickson (costume designer), Richard Taylor (Weta Workshop creative supervisor), Alan Lee (conceptual designer), John Howe (conceptual designer), Dan Hennah (supervising art director/set decorator), Chris Hennah (art department manager), and Tania Rodger (Weta Workshop manager)
So here are some highlights of things that are new to me (after avidly watching all the BTS documentaries multiple times over the years) from FotR:
The guy who made the One Ring originally didn't want to do it because he didn't like fantasy, but then his sons badgered him until he agreed to do it - kind of a similar story to Viggo Mortensen, I think. He ended up contracting cancer and dying during the production of the first movie.
Alan Lee storyboarded a potential sequence for showing how Bilbo got the Ring. They would show Gollum grabbing a fish, taking off the Ring while he ate, and then it would roll away until Bilbo found it.
Some of Ngila Dickson's phrases and diction are pinging really loudly in my sense of deja vu - like, I remember hearing those exact phrases before. But I even went and watched the costume design portion of the Appendices, and none of it was a repeat. Have I actually heard this commentary before and then forgot all about it? @_@
The guy (the primary guy? I can't imagine it was only one person) they put writing on all the scrolls and things worked in a bank and had a hobby doing calligraphy. They hired him to do just a few things at first, putting writing on some props, but then it got to the point where he actually had to quit his job at the bank and start working full-time for LotR, and then continued to do stuff for merchandise for New Line. I do wonder what he did once the movies were all made and over with....
I always forget how they had to have two scales of everything. Not just stuff like Gandalf's staff or the sets, but they had to have two scales of all the props like cups and books and things. They even had to have two different sizes of horses, depending on the scene!
Lawrence Makoare, who played Lurtz, would have to start getting into makeup at 10 p.m. the night before he had a scene, so that he would be ready at 8 a.m. the next day @_@
Most of the horses used in the movies were Andalusian horses imported from Australia.
When they would film outside in nature, like in the forest where they shot on-location scenes for Rivendell, they would have to remove the native plants that were there, keep them in a greenhouse, plant whatever plants and other things they needed for the movie, then take them out again and put the original plants back. This would actually leave the area better than the way they found it, because they would remove weeds and things like that.
John Howe commented on how difficult it is to do hair in something like this that's meant to be kind of "historical," even though it's fantasy. Hairstyle is one of the things that is quickly outdated, so if you do it wrong, it can be jarring to watch the movie in later decades. He said, "I wonder how it will look 20 years from now." It's twenty years later, John. It looks every bit as good as it did in 2001 :')
Okay, I feel like this had to have been in the BTS documentary, but I don't remember it. For the moment where Bilbo goes Gollum-esque for a second when Frodo puts the Ring away, they morphed between his face and a puppet they made of Ian Holm looking deranged. Ian Holm was thrilled with the puppet and had several photos taken of himself with it, and then when it was time for him to leave New Zealand, they made a bronze version of the puppet and gave it to him as a memento! XD
For the shots of the Fellowship bursting out of the snow after the avalanche, they went to the Mt. Hart ski field, which was closed because of a blizzard. They were allowed to go out on the ski field, make snow caves, and film the actors bursting out into the open. The Hobbits wore Ugg boots over their hobbit feet in the snow when their feet wouldn't be in the shot XD Apparently, Richard Taylor actually asked Peter Jackson if there could be a scene of the Hobbits wrapping their feet in bandages or something, just so the actors could protect their feet a bit more in harsh terrain like that, but PJ said no, because the Hobbits' feet would be tough enough to be able to withstand all of that. Poor guys! x.x
Huh. I always assumed that they made the effect of ithildin by putting little glowing lights on the doors of Moria, or else maybe added it in post. But actually, they put some kind of reflective material on the design, and then shone a light from behind the camera, so it would reflect on the design and make it look like it was glowing! I feel like, if this movie were made today, they would totally have just done it with CG, but this makes it so much more realistic. Also, they had to paint the doors, but obviously couldn't paint over the reflective material, so they put plasticine over the design, then painted it, then took the doors to the site. They were still taking the plasticine off the doors when the whole crew and the actors turned up and started rehearsing the scene! So apparently, if you look hard enough, you can actually see a few small parts of the design on the door that are missing, because they accidentally left some of the plasticine on!
Okay, we all know about the crazy amount of attention to detail in these movies, but this story just takes the cake. In the room with Balin's tomb, there's all this Khuzdul writing on the walls. Someone wrote out all the text and had their in-house translator translate it into Dwarvish runes that they then carved into the walls. During one of the days they were shooting the cave troll battle, they had invited a Tolkien language scholar to visit the set, and he stormed out in an outrage, saying that someone had written something like "Joe was here" on the walls, which was disrespectful to Tolkien's legacy, etc. etc. Horrified to hear this, the art department got their translator to go over the set with a fine-tooth comb, trying to find the "graffiti" this guy had seen, because they'd already filmed a lot of shots of this scene, and they knew that there would be fans who would freeze-frame the scene and translate what's written on the walls. But they couldn't find it anywhere! So eventually they cornered the Tolkien scholar and asked him where he'd seen it, and it turned out that it was just some guy on the crew who'd told him that. Apparently, the Tolkien scholar was so uptight and serious about everything, this guy was just poking fun at him, and it snowballed from there. So they ended up wasting a lot of time looking for a mistake that wasn't even there, because that's how dedicated everyone was to getting every detail of this movie right.
The Moria orcs were originally designed to have pale, almost translucent skin (inspired by an axolotl! O.O), but when they saw footage of it on the first day, they realized the contrast with all the darkness in Moria was too much, and it made the orcs look like they were glowing, so they had to make them darker.
The eyes of the Moria orcs were enlarged after the fact, so when they made the prosthetics, they had to make the eyeholes extra big so the eyes would look like they fit after they were enlarged.
Originally, there was an idea that the Balrog would burst out from a wall somewhere while they're trying to jump across the gap in the stairs, and just generally make that scene even more tense and exciting, but then they realized that to do so would basically eat up half their budget, so they decided to do it the way it is in the final version XD
The boats' design was based on a leaf of a lemon tree. If you drop a lemon leaf in the water, it will look like a tiny version of the Elven boats! 8D
Ohhhh, so the scene where the Fellowship gets attacked by Orcs along the way down the Anduin was going to be a sequence at Sarn Gebir, where there are dangerous rapids, so the Fellowship has to land on the shore and carry their boats past. But then Orcs attack, there's a whole action scene, and they have to hurry back onto the water and navigate the rapids. But they never shot it, because right after they'd built the set and got all ready, they were hit with a lot of rain and flooding, and the water level in the lake where they were filming rose five meters and completely washed away the set. So that whole sequence got permanently canceled.
While working on Amon Hen, Alan Lee fell off the stone seat (kind of like Frodo!) and broke his wrist. Thankfully, it was his left wrist, so he could keep drawing.
The Uruk-Hai's hair was horsehair that they had to import because they needed it in such large quantities. In the location where they shot the battle at Amon Hen, the ground was covered with prickly bracken of some kind, so every time an Uruk fell on the ground and then got up for the next take, they would have to carefully pluck all the bits of bracken out of their hair @_@
The fletching on the Uruk arrows is supposed to be, not feathers, but Warg hair O.O
Okay, I knew they made a silicone dummy of Boromir for when his body goes over the falls, but they only had four days to make it?! :O
In the final scene, where Frodo and Sam are looking out over Mordor, what Sean and Elijah were actually looking at was a ski resort with cabins and a ski lift. "The one place in all Middle-Earth we don't want to see," indeed! XD

Killers React to a Drunk Survivor- The Trickster (Ji-Woon Hak)
How were you supposed to know that the Entity planned on snatching you for a trial soon as you hit the bottle? All you wanted was to take the edge off. Granted, it seemed to work as everything was much more of a blur now. You stumbled through Ormond with nary a shiver, the booze keeping you nice and warm inside. Who said this wasn't a perk in itself?
Soon, the telltale lullaby of a killer sent your heart racing. But your inhibitions were out the window, and you gravitated towards the familiar melody.
Oh, the look on The Trickster's face when a darling little survivor ran not away from his blades, but right into his chest.
"Ji-SWOON cutie! Haven't seen you in foreverrrr! I missed youuuu!"
He didn't know whether to be annoyed, flabbergasted, or flattered. Actually, yeah, go with all three. All he could do for a moment was stare dumbly at you, mouth slightly agape, as you nuzzled against him without shame, arms securely wrapped around his torso.
Clearing his throat, he glanced around to ensure no one was watching. "Someone was too eager for an encore, hm? I'm touched, honey." He hesitated before awkwardly patting your head while trying to push you away. No such luck. The contact only made you push your head against his hand like a cat, practically begging for more. Did you have to giggle so sweetly like that?
It was obvious you were out of sorts. One glance at your extra rosy cheeks confirmed that you had to be drunk. Had you been drinking in the trial grounds? There was technically a bar here, but he couldn't imagine it was stocked. Now that he thought of it, he didn't remember anything like this happening before. Survivors were supposed to be coherent and have basic self-preservation instincts at the very least.
The Trickster clicked his tongue and sighed. He lifted you onto his shoulder with no resistance, earning a delighted squeal. "Yaaaay! Hook me, daddy!"
You were going to be the death of him. "You're not mentally fit for a trial right now." He ignored your protests as he carried you upstairs to one of the bedrooms in the lodge. Setting you down onto a cot, he turned briskly to leave you. "Go find the Hatch once I've finished the others."
His shoulders tensed when he heard you sniffle. Against his better judgment, he turned to see your eyes watering.
"D-do ya not like me?" you blubbered. "I thought you liked my screams 'n stuff…"
Entity help him. "Would you rather I took advantage of you instead?" he muttered.
You really looked like you were considering it for a second before you shook your head. "No, it's just…I'm so lonely…"
The Trickster ran a hand through his hair and exhaled through his nose. "Look. If you set a trap for a rabbit, but the rabbit is watching eagerly, ready to jump into it, it's not a hunt. No chase or challenge or satisfaction." Sure, Evan might be appeased and Danny might die laughing. Not the point. "So rest up and come back when you're ready to be a good little bunny, all right? Then I'll happily spend some quality time hunting you down."
That made your cheeks positively glow. You cupped them in a way that should not have been adorable at all and nodded your head. "O-okay Ji-Swoon! I promise I'll be good!"
You laid down and he was pleasantly surprised at your obedience. He couldn't help but smirk. Stalking closer, The Trickster leaned in to peck your forehead. "There's my good bunny. Now don't make me come looking for you again."
In that moment, you could've died happy.
Once you escaped and the foggy memories came crashing back, you actually wanted to die. Maybe you'd get sent to the Void if you were lucky.
Of course, you were offered no such reprieve. It was a while until you had another trial with The Trickster, and you prayed he'd forgotten.
Of course he hadn't.
He pinned you to the wall after leaving you for last, a smug grin on his face. "How's my good little bunny? Feeling better than last time, I hope?"
You grunt and tried to free yourself, about to retort, but his hand brushed your head ever so slightly. For just a moment, you relaxed and leaned into him, your body remembering when he...
"...I'll give you a good chase then you can Mori me. Permanently, if that's possible."
Your bodies were so close that his chuckle rumbled against your chest. You cursed yourself for the involuntary chill that ran down your spine. "Aw, but why? I thought we could spend some quality time together, since you're so lonely."
Your cheeks blossomed indignant red. "Asshole, I was drunk! Don't use that against me!"
"They say that alcohol unmasks the true desires of the heart. You certainly had a lot to say that day, honey."
He leaned in closer, breath fanning your face. "Quite honestly, I found it adorable. Besides…you're not the only one that's lonely, and wanting."
He used your shock to nuzzle closer to you, one hand snaking around your waist while the other petted your hair. Your muscles went slack at his touch.
"I believe I deserve some thanks after treating you with such dignity and patience. I'd like to hear how you feel for me while you're sober."
You didn't try to get away as his lips closed in. "And," he whispered, "I want to feel it too."
A fog enveloped your brain once more, similar to when you'd been drunk, except now his lips were the culprit. You gasped for air when he finally pulled away, gaze lidded.
He was smirking, as always, but something else hid behind his gaze. Something softer. "See? I have the same effect on you, but better. You don't need to get wasted when the perfect remedy is right here."
You rolled your eyes at his cheesiness, but smiled. "Even if that were true, I can't exactly drag you back to the campfire with me whenever I want."
He pouted. "How do you know? You've never tried." Your incredulous stare made him laugh again. You couldn't help but chuckle as well. "I'm just saying, I want my bunny to stay healthy. So they can give me many, many rewarding hunts."
Before you could reply, he rested his head against your chest so he could hear your heartbeat. "But perhaps, just this once, I'll take that missed opportunity and keep you company."
Your touch-starved body melted into him, and your eyes fluttered shut. "...I'd like that."

Hi, if you're okay with it I'd like to request Jungkook somehow finding out about the part he played in the pudding incident (maybe overhearing them talking about it again or her mentioning it to Yoongis hybrid so she's more careful around him)...so he can finally punch him 🙃 sorry, but I just think he needs to get set straight to realize he can't keep doing stuff like that and just get away with it.
I really enjoy your writing btw, thank you for sharing your works!<3
The tension is high in the apartment, Jungkook breathing heavily as he's held back by Yoongi, who's clearly struggling to keep the youngest of the group in his hold. While yes, Jungkook is and will stay the maknae, he's grown up at this point, physically superior to a lot of the members at this point- Yoongi included. He's already landed a hit on his bandleader's face; its clear that the only reason he doesn't continue being you and Yoongi's hybrid a little further away, hugging each other for comfort at the sight of everyone being so on edge.
"I deserve that." Namjon nods, holding his jaw. He's lucky his bandmate couldn't really land a full on hit on his face, as Yoongi had been quick enough to react in time.
"Of course you fucking do!" Jungkook yells out. "You almost killed her! And as for his-" Jungkook looks at Yoongi next to him before his heated gaze returns to his leader. "-You almost got her taken by authorities! What if she had run on the streets, got hit by a car, huh?! Would that have made you happy?!" He barks.
"Absolutely not. I.. didn't know she'd react like that." Namjoon offers defeatedly. "The same with yours. I wasn't.. aware that there was such a high amount in there, if I did I wouldn't have done it." He tries to explain himself, looking over at the two hybrids a little further away. "I'm sorry. I hope you know that." He offers.
"You don't even have the right to look at her-" Jungkook starts again, but Yoongi chimes in now.
"Alright, let's calm down here." He says calmly. "What I'm failing to understand here, is just why?" Yoongi wonders, looking at his bandleader, who turns to the side again, watching both hybrids become more calm now. "You're not a bad person, Namjoon. Why do this then?" He asks, letting go of Jungkook now so he can go and comfort his own hybrid.
"In this industry.. it's best if you, you know, surround yourself with people who won't be taken away from you. Who won't leave you, you know." He simply explains, as both hybrids slowly begin to explore his home after he nods in approval once they look at him as if to ask. "It'll just.. I just wanted you to realize that you're playing with fire. Like water in your hands- it will drip out between your fingers at some point, no matter how hard you try." He says, walking to sit down on his couch.
It doesn't take long for both Idols to follow him, their hybrids close behind, sitting close to them. Everyone doesn't understand, still. It feels like there's more to it than the bandleader lets on. It's only when Yoongi's hybrid finds a worn-down tiger plushy on the edge of the couch, that Yoongi seems to understand-
simply from the hurt that flashes in his friend's eyes as he gently takes it away from her, to place it somewhere out of reach for both hybrids.
"You've had one yourself." Yoongi says, and Namjoon sighs. "What happened?"
"Management happened." His leader defeatedly explains. "I trusted them like.. Jungkook did. Told them about her. Explained how I'm taking care of her, how I'm planning to solve issues like tours, and so on." He shrugs. "But back then, they weren't so lenient. It backfired, simple as that." He says.
"Backfired how?" Jungkook asks now, realizing why his friend might've been so hostile especially towards him. He's got something he never had been granted- the freedom to bring his partner to work with him, to have them protected just as well as they are themselves.
"Told me they'd help with the tour stuff. That she'd be given into a carecenter for the duration, and the company would cover the costs even." He recalls the events. "It sounded great. Not perfect, obviously- but it was a solution I could work with. So I explained to her the night before we had to leave for tour, that she'd stay at the center just for a few weeks until the tour would be over."
"But they never gave her back." Yoongi finishes, and Namjoon nods, clenching his jaw.
"I came back home, and she wasn't there. I talked to management about when I'd be able to pick her up- and they just told me 'never.', that she's staying there, forever." He explains further, both hybrids clearly distressed at the story he's telling. "And when I tried myself to get her back somehow, I couldn't find her. Nothing. Not under her name, nor her ID. She's gone, because I trusted management to handle it." He says. "I don't want you to go through that. I don't.. I wanted to protect you. All of you." He says, now looking at the hybrids as well.
"You could've simply talked to us." Jungkook mumbles, pulling his hybrid onto his lap. "We could've just spoken about this like now."
"Would you have believed me?" Namjoon questions. "You would've simply thought 'oh, that will never happen to me!', and then move on." He chuckles dryly, Yoongi sighing.
"Oh man, this is one big mess." He shakes his head. "Now what do we do?" He asks, and Jungkook puts out his hand.
"I accept your apology." He offers, and Namjoon nods, shaking his friend's hand. "It's.. not okay, but I can understand it, in a way." He says.
"Same here, by the way." Yoongi nods.
"I'll try and help you protect them." Namjoon says, sternly so. "I don't want you to go through this, and I understood that I went at it from the wrong direction. I'm really sorry." He says, and everyone nods at that, Yoongis hybrid even doing so much as to reach out and hug him- Jungkook's soon to follow.
It does bring the bandleader to tears a little bit- but it also shows how truthful he meant his words.
And on the sidelines, both Jungkook and Yoongi already think of how to maybe help him.

(spoiler-free discussion of HI3rd Part 2)
So I finally got to catch up w/ the previous chapter (moon shenanigans w/ Helia & Coralie) and dove right into HI3rd Part 2's release- and I've gotta say, I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit so far!
*Quick disclaimer, I'm playing with CN voices, and the voice acting of a character can really influence a person's perception of them, so keep that in mind
So far each of the main cast we've met so far has been fairly likeable. I was unsure what Sena was gonna be like but so far she fits in quite well. She's got the same bubbly personality as Ely and March, but she has neither the pushy-ness that Ely has nor the snark March has. So she's definitely reminiscent of both of them but still feels like her own person, and since we literally just met her there's gonna be plenty of time for her character to develop.
Also really enjoyed the interactions with Helia and Coralie, it's clear that they're not super besties like Kiana & Mei but they're certainly close as comrades and I'd like to see how their dynamic develops! I'm looking forward to new battlesuits for them someday and I really hope Mihoyo follows through on that idea. I'd love to see how their adventures in the Sea of Data shape their world-view as they're challenged by things that Schicksal's Valk training never could've prepared them for.
and Dreamseeker was quite nice, too! They're not a silent protag, though of course the quasi-self-insert thing does make it a bit more awkward than usual. But overall their presence doesn't really affect the story in a negative way so that's no concern at all, and they contribute to the team a fair bit in terms of both knowledge/wisdom as well as how they interact with other characters and move the conversation forward. They're not super bubbly nor are they cold, they're just ordinary in a charming way, if that makes sense?
and then Songque... ooooohhh lord she was a LOT more than I bargained for in so many ways. in a good way, I think? >.> either way, not gonna say much about her because I don't even know how to begin describing her. I just wasn't expecting her to be so... lively. Like, crazy energetic, in a very controlled-chaos sorta way.
Also in terms of worldbuilding/lore I think it's been handled quite well. It doesn't rely on obscure knowledge from Part 1, i.e. not technobabble-heavy, but if you're familiar with stuff like the workings of the Sea of Quanta then it's easy to see how things are working behind the scenes.
It's a super fascinating concept for a setting and I really like the juxtaposition of past/present as well as how the story seems to fully embrace the chaotic nature of the Sea of Quanta, giving us really strange and unusual sights and writing characters who are born into this strange reality and take it for granted.
Oh. and the new music. pretty good so far! it's nothing at the level of Genshin but that's a really high bar to pass anyways. For HI3rd's standards it's solid work and enjoyable enough to listen to while playing the story & fighting. I have a lot of other thoughts about HI3rd's music as a whole but that's a whoooole other story lol
so yeah. Part 2 released, and HI3rd didn't suddenly combust into flames and explode. So far so good, hard to say how it'll change going forward but there's not much of a point in worrying about that yet. My only regeret is I had to skip 2/3rds of the Fu Hua arc for this because of issues w/ my schedule and how busy I've been, but I think it was the right call cause I'm really looking forward to the new Part 2 story, both main story & side content!

Your writing brings joy to my shriveled brain. How do you think it would go if Steven from Moonnight had a female roommate who desperately tried to ignore the weird shit. Acting like nothing was out of the ordinary bc the apartment is in the perfect spot and the rent is really reasonable. Steven and Mark grow increasingly alarmed and intrigued respectively at their cute but definitely deranged roomate ignoring all the bat shit crazy with an iron force of will. The more they pay attention the more they realize they like having her around.
A/N: My shriveled heart enjoys writing for y’all 😫🤚🏼 also this my first moonknight request I’m so excited It’s not even funny. This took me actual ages to post bec I kept rewriting it, Marc and Steven are wonderful and I'm sorry if their ooc and for how long it took me to post, hope you enjoy! NOT EDITED
TW'S: Yandere
The first thing you noticed about Steven Grant was his inexplicable ability to keep to himself. Like really to himself. The small space you two occupied never felt crowded despite sharing everything but a bed. His room was sort of the living room, and at the very beginning you two set the rule that you’d each keep to your own, a fair rule considering you got the bedroom, the cheap rent and non-creepy roommate was worth all the odd stuff you noticed. Like how he taped up the front door at night. You chalked it up to paranoia. The ring of sand he diligently poured around his bed? Your aunt had a sleepwalking problem, could happen to anyone. The kinky ankle chain he kept on the post by his bed? What he got up to when you were out of the apartment was his business, and you minded your own well, as long as you weren’t in danger, he could be as weird as he wanted.
Steven was worried initially. His mind ran ragged with scenario after scenario of you finding out about Marc, the two of them had only just begun to peacefully coexist. Marc had no problems with you as long as you had your rent and didn’t ask too many questions, plus you sometimes wore these little shorts to bed and he'd never complain about the view.
There were just some things you can't hide, like the fact that the apartment felt haunted whenever Steven was home, the cold chills and way he was constantly looking up in some random corner were a little harder to ignore, you told yourself you'd say something if you got possessed, other than that it was blissfully ignored.
Marc had never officially met you but he had been watching. He was a naturally alert person so it wasn't concerning- what worried him was just how often you wiggled your way into his thoughts as of late. He was far too grown for something like a crush, far to burdened with his destiny for something like romance, that's absolutely not why he took over to watch you for a while, nothing malicious, just observe you how steven gets to, you two only ever crossed paths in the morning and as you were heading to bed. You didn't bat a eye, offering him a sleepy wave and a yawn as you made your coffee.
He found himself smiling at the silent, practiced way you worked around the kitchen, something about the scene was domestic, "Wan' some?" You asked rather cutely, a yawn breaking through at the end, warmth pooled in his chest at the simple action and before he could stop himself he was nodding.
Your pretty (e/c) eyes widened for a moment before that friendly grin came back. "You never take me up on that- I was startin' to think British people couldn't drink coffee." The graceful ease in which you moved had his eyes soaking up every inch of you, your little joke had pulled him out of whatever weird trance he'd fallen under. "Cream and sugar?" He shook his head no, and when your fingers brushed his as you handed off the warm mug, it felt like he'd been electrified.
"You're usually at the museum by now- sorry that sounded creepy I meant- it's nice seeing you that's all." Your very apparent flustered state pulled a smirk to his lips. You were too cute. But the question did yank him out of the sweet bubble he'd found himself in once you started talking.
You thought he was Steven- of course, why wouldn't you? He knew this and yet, that familiar pang of disappointment lingered, so hard in fact he'd fallen into himself and let Steven have the wheel once more. The Brit was proper confused when he came to with a steaming mug of coffee in his hands.
He nearly dropped it when he finally noticed you standing before him, your bedhead made you look like some sort of sleepy Angel, he quickly took a sip of the liquid, failed to hide his grimace and thanked you for it before rushing out with the guise of being late to work. Truthfully his shift didn't start for an hour and a half, he just liked giving you your space.
He found out rather early the longer he spent in your presence the more likely he was to make a fool of himself. You were charming and witty and god you looked like someone who should be waited on hand and foot- not that that's something he's thought in detail about or anything don't be silly-
"I think I should introduce myself." He heard Marks voice ring out while he reorganized the plushies by the register. "Absolutely not." He said almost offended at the mere suggestion, his pulse began to skyrocket, "Are you mad? She just started being comfortable-" he laughed humorlessly, "That be a fine way to send her running for the bloody hills." He set the last plush down with more force than necessary, the idea of you not being in his life anymore shot a spike of panic through him.
"You're not giving her enough credit, somethin' about that one- this feels like the right move buddy." Steven glanced at Mark's reflection in one of the display cases. He pointedly moved to the other side of the store, his face twisting into a pout. "She's noticed all the weird shit we do- she's still there." He heard him try to reason, catching his grin in the glass. "You can't hide from me, I know you're just as interested in our sweet roommate as I am."

LIAU MY BELOVED
ask game question
Jimmy x Martyn
:D
Tumblr media
romeo asking for mirror birds in MY ask box?!!?!??!?!?! (i know u pref mirror birds but solidwood is too funny im so sorry)
ah yeah. these losers.
see, a lot of my thoughts surrounding these two would kind of spoil my own AU that i never make stuff for so im usually somewhat hesitant to talk about them but basically., (toxic!fh mention)
post-evo divorced property police is so real. ive always imagined it as a childhood friends situation, with martyn being a bit older than jimmy.
they probably caught feelings for eachother fairly late and already well into teenhood but neither of them were really sure what it was (this is maybe going a little bit into sexuality hc territory but ive always imagined jimmy as whatever the male equivalent of a useless lesbian is and martyns biphobic towards himself lmao).
i touched on this briefly in that one fic i wrote but i've always headcanoned martyn as being somewhat parentified and thus ties his worthiness to be loved into his ability to perform acts of service for someone rather than just.. existing and letting himself be loved.
so as jimmy became more independent, martyn becomes a bit more insecure about their friendship. this becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy as he distances himself from jimmy, feeling like jimmy wouldn't love him if he didn't Need him, and jimmy in return feels confused and hurt as he helplessly watches someone he knew all his life drift away.
that + jimmy has this not-so-subtle crush on scott that martyn's always suspected. he's a jealous bitch.
The storm formed after a final sip, my fingertips frozen solid, I pretend that again I can see, you past the rails, ready to meet And I wonder is it too much to ask, to once more, hold you warm in my hands? To accept I can’t forget, and embrace what still fails to fade?
Milk Tea (Oktavia's translyrics) (because I wasn't kidding when I said these two were cheesy yuri to me lmao)
we had a clown to clown communication moment i think cus I also love the idea of them splitting up and meeting in Third Life years and years later (altho i like to imagine it as more of a voluntary separation).
some stuff copy+pasted from that cursed shipping doc i mentioned awhile back: ((scott + jimmy became a thing while martyn was gone pre-3L))
Now reuniting in 3L as fully grown adults after years apart, all those suppressed emotions come bubbling back up to the surface. An adult Martyn is much less unsure about what he's feeling and Jimmy still has those fantasies of what could have been playing on loop in his head. Of course, Jimmy is still attached to Scott and can't abandon his Bethrothed. He loves and knows what's best for him, he would sooner die than forsake his loyalty. But it does hurt when he hits him. Martyn still cares for Jimmy deeply, whether he wants to or not. He takes the time to keep an eye out for him, even though they had no real reason to interact anymore. He becomes one of the only people to realise what Scott was like with him, how devoid of love it all was. He throws out a line, offers to help him run away. Jimmy refuses. Betrayal. A second time. For the same man. Who cares about Jimmy anyway? (he always did take me for granted)
(a little note here before anyone sets me on fire - time works a bit differently in my writing and the players don't have exact ages but jimmy and martyn's age gap is probably not as dramatic as their cc counterparts)
(it's still there but neither of them even recognise their feelings as remotely romantic until they reunite as adults, as kids it's all just them being silly and having grade school drama with each other)
So uh yeah lots of mutual pining and suppressed feelings and puppy love turned angst👍 tis all i shall say cus i wanna make art of the rest lol
Just a second to lessen the ache, or minute to kiss it away I’d give all I have for the chance to go back to youth and you

do you have any recommendations for dick and jason (together or separate, both is fine) comics for someone who’s just starting to read them? i have some knowledge of the characters and batfam and i’ve read several batman comics, but i never really got into the robins-after-they-were-robins comis so i’d like to start with dick and jason…thank you so much :)
okay, this was meant to be a sort of joint answer to this & another ask that was someone interested in getting into comics for the first time asking for recs, but then i accidentally deleted it :'') so just. pretend all the references in here to being a first time comic reader make sense in response to this question (and sorry to whoever sent that other ask!!!)
i'm probably not the best person to ask if you're looking for more up to date stuff, since i lost interest in the bats when i got to the new 52, and it's been… a while since i actually read either of their comics. so i'm just all around not the one to be answering a bat-ask with any sort of authority, but! jason & dick were two of the first characters i read when i was first getting into comics, too, so i can say with some level of confidence that they're a pretty good place to start, and i think i can maybe provide a bit of perspective that way by steering you toward the things i found easy & away from the things that were difficult as a newer reader?
so basically, this is going to be an extremely biased rec list where the most important thing is essentially just whether or not i had a good time reading it when i was like 17 that i'm writing while hopped up on cold medicine. so i don't know. it might (??) be a little helpful for brand new people, but hardcore fans might wanna just... keep scrolling & not click to see the details on this one lol
for jason, there are, sadly (?), way fewer comics to have to sort through
i can't tell if you only wanted post-robin comics or not, but just in case, jason's robin run was from Batman #408 - 429. if you're just starting out, this might be a bit… boring in the middle. the most (arguably only) important issues are #408 - 411, #416 for our first post-crisis jason & dick interaction, and #424 - 429. the Batman: The Cult miniseries is also set during his robin era, and is probably one of my all-time favorite comics, so that's definitely worth a look, too
post-resurrection, the first thing jason technically appears in is Batman: Hush (Batman #608-619). i don't know if this will be seen as a horrendous take because i've never really been able to get a read on what the general consensus on this arc is, but i think it's… fine? kinda boring. as someone who was just getting into comics for the first time when i read it, it just lost me. too much going on, too many characters i didn't know or care about yet. granted, i'm kinda dumb with zero attention span, so you may well have a very different experience... but i just think it's worth mentioning. jason's only there from #617 - 618, so if it ends up being the same sort of trial for you that it was for my impatient ass, you can just skip it and come back later when you're more familiar with batman comics as a whole (like i did)
and with that: THE BIG ONE
Batman: Under the Hood runs from Batman #635 - 641, then a pause for unrelated issues of bruce running around gotham (strongly recommend skipping these), then picks back up with Batman #645 - 650 and Batman Annual #25. Batman Villains: Secret Files and Origins (2005) also happened somewhere in here. it was published right after Batman #640, i think. it doesn't actually matter because jason doesn't even show up, but he DOES have a little character page. i just think it's Neat, and i never see it getting mentioned anywhere else. so here you go. a mention
also while this arc was going on, geoff johns went rogue and dropped Teen Titans (2003) #29 to kickstart jason's character assassination before they'd even finished establishing his character to begin with. this issue is one of those things where discussion of it usually ends with the internet equivalent of someone throwing a chair, flipping a table, or trying to burn a house down, so… all i can really say is i, personally, hate everything about it and as far as i'm concerned, it's non-canon. never happened. i don't know who that man is, but the things he does in this issue are, for whatever reason, pretty important to the history of jason todd as a character, so it's still a necessary read
now, from here, i'm gonna need you to BUCKLE UP because you are about to be exposed to some weapons grade comic book nonsense. Brothers in Blood (Nightwing #118 - 124) was the first we really saw of jason after his comeback arc ended. it's where he and dick interact for the first time after his death, and it is absolutely cuckoo bananas insane. if you've never heard anything about this storyline before, i am BEGGING you to not look anything about it up before you read it. go into this blind. it's so much more than just a story. it's an experience. this is unironically one of my favorite arcs of all time. going into this with zero prior knowledge as someone brand new to comics as a medium & still very unfamiliar with all their eccentricities is still to this day one of my FAVORITE comic book reading experiences ever. some truly groundbreaking stuff here
the next time (as far as i'm aware) that we get dick & jason interacting, it's very briefly in Outsiders (2003) #44 - 46
the only other jason book i really remember enjoying was another of the classics, the Red Hood: Lost Days miniseries that explores the time between his resurrection and reappearance. this one is a favorite, too, but for the right reasons this time lol
as for dick, there's… a lot
i'm gonna try to whittle it down to just the all-time faves, but if you're up for tackling whole series, pretty much all of The New Teen Titans (and all its variations/retitles) are at the top of the list. it's a lot of issues, yes, but it's very self-contained and imo a very easy read, which is important when you're new
i can never quite put my finger on what, exactly, it is, but there's something about some comics that just makes them hard to read--bad composition or pacing issues or something. especially as a newer reader, i had a hard time understanding wtf was happening in a lot of books, but New Teen Titans is one of those books that just flows. your eye naturally knows exactly which panel to find next, characters are distinct & easy to tell apart even in crowded scenes, and you're never confused about who's saying what. the number of issues can be intimidating, but it's a really, really good place to start for new readers, including and especially if you're interested in nightwing. here's a full reading order, if you're interested in giving it a go!
it's almost impossible for me to cherrypick a few "most important" issues for dick because there's an important character moment nearly every other issue, but if i absolutely had to pick just a couple: The Judas Contract, (along with being arguably the most iconic arc) is where he stops being robin & takes on the identity of nightwing for the first time. it starts way back with deathstroke's introduction in The New Teen Titans (1980) #2, but doesn't really kick off proper until The New Teen Titans (1980) #39, and then just after this, the book was renamed to Tales of the Teen Titans, the arc continued in Tales of the Teen Titans #42 - 44, and then wrapped up in Tales of the Teen Titans Annual #3
later, on the dick & jason front, in The New Titans #55, we get a bit of jason action with dick finding out about his death in this issue & going to confront bruce about it (it does not go well), and then Batman: Year 3 (Batman #436 - 439) is an arc that is both a sort of re-exploration of dick's origin and about dick & bruce dealing with the aftermath of jason's death
Titans (1999) is always high on the list for me, but it's hard to really think of any specific issues for dick specifically, so here's just a general rec. maybe something to come back to a little later, since there are a lot of characters involved, and you're sort of expected to be at least a little familiar with them beforehand
i'm doing some truly extreme time skipping here, and i'm sure more devout dick fans will (validly) have Thoughts about this (i'm gonna link some better rec lists from more competent people, dw), but outside of The New Titans, i have no strong feelings about, like, anything that dick grayson did throughout the entirety of the 90s. sorry! my recommendation is to skip straight to the mid-2000s. Outsiders (2003) is one of my all-time faves in general and definitely one of my favorite takes on dick
Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day is the thing that kicks off the Outsiders era, then Titans/Outsiders Secret Files (2003), and then starts Outsiders (2003). the first ~25 or so issues are full of the highest quality dick content
and, horrifying quite a few people, i'm sure, i am going to recommend jumping directly to devin grayson's run in Nightwing (1996). and then, insult to injury, i am ONLY going to recommend devin grayson's run
i'm sure a few people just closed the tab in a fit of rage, but just to preemptively defend myself here, this isn't necessarily a glowing endorsement of her take on dick (though i do like her run just fine & think she gets way more flack than she deserves, which is something i'm absolutely not interested in arguing about lol). it's just that i remember trying to read Nightwing (1996) as a newer reader, and i remember giving up on it multiple times because it just wasn't fun until someone finally recommended that i start with grayson. this is obviously a very subjective thing, but i think a big part of what made those early issues so difficult was just how much was going on around them
earlier issues crossover and tie-in and reference all these events that were happening elsewhere in the universe and just generally expect the reader to be able to roll with the punches a lot more, which is fantastic & exactly what you want when you've been reading comics for a while, but for someone still trying to get a feel for all of this, it just made things kinda frustrating and confusing and could be a pretty big turnoff. grayson's run is much more self-contained and easy to follow without needing that much prior knowledge (without going too far & ending up feeling detached & unrelated to the world around it). big disclaimer/warning that the portrayal of romani people here is… Not Good. to put it mildly
it starts with Nightwing (1996) #71 and runs with no crossovers all the way until War Games begins with Nightwing (1996) #96. i cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone read War Games, so… maybe (maybe.) just skim the tie-in issues and come back later if/when you're more invested in batman comics. otherwise, it might turn you off altogether, and that's… barely an exaggeration. it's pretty much exactly what happened to me when i stared my getting-into-comics-books journey with Nightwing (1996) very early on and made the mistake of actually trying to read it when i reached it. it may not be as bad in retrospect, but i'm biased and i hate it and i don't care. fuck War Games
Nightwing (1996) #101 - 106 are Nightwing: Year One, which retells dick's early days as nightwing & includes a revamped first meeting with jason. mixed opinions on this one all around, from what i understand, but here it is. after this, grayson's run ends right before Brothers in Blood starts in #118, and i can't really say much for the title past that point, as it was incredibly obvious nothing would ever top that masterpiece, and i decided to stop there
and i cannot, in good conscience, recommend anything past this point to a new reader. or anyone, really, but especially not a new reader. from this point on, things are messy, especially for jason. the only thing i really enjoy about post-Final Crisis batfam is damian's existence, and even that comes with its own set of asterisks because everything about this era was… something. it's not all bad, but i remember naively wandering into morrison's Batman & Robin as someone still new to all this, and all it did was make me question whether or not i should just call it quits & give up on comics as a medium right then and there lol
don't let that scare you away from those comics altogether, just don't be frustrated if you do give them a go & find yourself not understanding wtf is going on. no one knows wtf is going on half the time, especially where morrison is concerned. it's fine
and with that, i have talked WAY too much, so to close, let me offer you a few way more extensive recs from a few way more qualified people:
here's a general batfam reading guide
some dick recs: one, two, three
and jason recs: one, two, three
this post is sort of a big, rambling mess, but... hope it manages to help somehow! and for anyone else who manages to actually make it this far, feel free to add on if you think of anything else that might be helpful

Is it possible to have a conversation about Trans Lifeline that isn't extremely uncomfortable?
This is, for quite a few reasons, one of those subjects it's really hard to even bring up, but you know, sometimes these things need talking about. I'm not planning to go too dark here but you know, content warning all the same.
So... Trans Lifeline is a charity organization which, on paper, primarily runs a crisis hotline explicitly for trans people, with a volunteer staff of other trans people, and on the side, dolling out small amounts of cash to people trying to get legal name and gender changes straightened out. And that's a great thing for people to set out to do. Also just getting this out there, many years ago now I did avail myself of both those services. Didn't actually end up needing the $50 or so for the name change formalizing (I'm poor enough that the probate court just waived the fee turned out), and I don't suppose I can complain about the hotline service, because while on the one hand, I'm pretty sure I was talking to someone very much out of their depth, but you know, someone answered, talked, and hey I'm still here right?
Really, that's the sort of thing that's just inherently selfless and important enough you'd have to be some kind of utterly horrible person to ever go and criticize, right? Which... kinda makes me horrible right now. See, as mentioned, they helped me out some years ago, but there's kind of an emphasis on the years ago part of that. I've had plenty of cause over the years to pass info on them to people, both the number and the grant program, and again not to get too dark but I've had reason to personally call myself here and there, lack of any sort of support network and all, and this is partially just anecdotal, but I don't know that I've actually ever heard of anyone getting in touch with anyone there in like... the past 5 years? Maybe 6?
I have been told they just will not do the grant thing for people in Canada despite advertising themselves as serving both Canada and the U.S. Which is a shame because my understanding is it's a much more painful process there (it's absurdly easy in the U.S. generally speaking, quit psyching yourselves out, go to probate court, ask for a form, then after there's another at the post office). And for quite some time now, anyone attempting to call that I've heard of hasn't reached a live person, and hasn't even been put on hold. You get a recording. The recording says everyone is busy, and their hours are from 8 AM to 2 PM Pacific time, and then the call disconnects. Which still seems to be the case when you do call in that range... and also those hours don't match what's listed on their site. And the numbers they advertise on their front page don't seen to have risen since people first really became aware of them and they started getting flooded.
Tumblr media
And like... I'm really not trying to stir anything up here, or say they suck or something. The work they do is super important and takes a horrible emotional toll on the people doing it. I know. I've spent dozens if not hundreds of nights talking trans people down from rather immediate self-destructive thoughts, both people I knew and people I didn't. This was my whole thing a decade ago. I also have experience being on the ground floor of a charity organization that flamed out in a hurry, and which never made any sort of statement indicating it'd completely shut down, nor took down the page (to be clear- I never saw a dime of that money, and did what I personally could to explain that). My point is, I get it, stuff is hard to keep going, and hard to admit you aren't keeping going.
I'm also not putting forward the idea that TLL has secretly shut down here, but they do seem to have... severely retracted? Again, when they first got started, they were dealing with call volumes and volunteer counts where you'd maybe spend an hour on hold before getting through to someone, but you could call at the sort of times where someone is going to feel the need to call such a hotline. Now you've got this theoretical short window like, around lunchtime/early afternoon. And they close entirely on weekends apparently. And shut down for the whole back half of December, as I just look at these recent announcements on their blog. And like... I can understand being stretched thin, I'm sympathetic, but I'm also looking at this from the perspective of the people in crisis, you know?
I would argue that a crisis hotline not existing to be called at all would be preferable to reaching a point where you're calling one, and having a prerecorded message tell you they can't help and hanging up. That is THE worst thing you can hear in that position. Crisis hotlines are already something people generally only turn to as a last result when there is absolutely nobody else they can flag down to talk to in an emotionally charged moment. You're not going in expecting any sort of magical fix to your problems, just someone, even if it's an overworked stranger, who will listen and respond.
So... why am I getting into all this? Well, besides it being the 10 year anniversary of like... all my major trauma and accordingly just being in this morbid sorta headspace, I see people recommending that people call TLL all the time. People throw the number out when discussing self-destructive thoughts broadly, when they see someone directly in a crisis situation rather than try and talk them through things personally, and it's kinda like... THE organization people look to when they feel upset about the plight of trans people and want to do some charity fundraising.
It's already just bleak as hell that when people feel bad for trans people and want to throw money around, they aren't helping people get away from abusive parents, or cover medical costs, or help people replace all their clothes, or inviting people whose social circles just shrank to nothing or next to out to see movies or get dinner or anything like that, just pay people to talk to them when all of the above gets to be too much to deal with and they give up on life. But the hard reality here is, people do that, pat themselves on the back, and then when people do just collapse enough to need to make such calls, nobody picks up.
I don't really know what the fix for this is. Like I don't wanna say people need to just stop supporting TLL, because in theory they are still helping SOME people? And like, hey, I think it's an all trans staff, so you're helping at least a handful of us get by if nothing else... but it's like hearing about a bunch of people dying of thirst and the best fix anyone has is dumping buckets of water into an extremely leaky barrel and encouraging people to try and get there before it all drains out, you know? There's really a whole slew of related problems here, and I don't really see any of them getting fixed until we just kinda collectively admit that the way things stand right now, we've got an emergency plan that's just straight up not working, and brainstorm from there.

Oh.
Honey.
Honey, no.

Alright. Spoilers for 'Sun has a Plan to KILL ECLIPSE in VRCHAT'.
This is gonna be a fun one.
Trigger Warnings Below for: Cursing.
They really gotta set up, like, a teleporter or something so they can get to GF's faster. I know they don't have magic but, like, get a car? Something? Marathoning over here to the point that an animatronic is losing it's breath is, like, just do something so your not dying every time you have a magic question that's gonna take less than ten minutes to answer.
I know GF wants his privacy and also he's being hunted by every government in the universe or something, but also, like, come on man. Are you really hiding all that well at this point? You get visitors at least three or four times a month, you know? You have kids who wanna come see you.
Oh! I ALSO thought GF wouldn't be affected by the wish. He'll probs figure out real quick what's going on.
That or he's fucking with Sun.
Oh yeah there he goes, literally not even a second later.
I never thought the fucking 'bippity boppity' could be threatening. I'd be nervous too.
"My boy! How ya doin?" Awwwwwwww.
*serious conversation about the power of the Newton Star* *Golden Freddy jamming out on the stairs* Sometimes you just gotta boogie down, I guess.
"You'll need to find another primordial source" Like this one I conveniently have in my backyard!
Sun does not care for magic lore. RIP Sun
didn't they say at one point that there was only one Star per universe? And, that's, like the reason you can't use it in another universe because it's tethered to the universe it belongs too or something?
Newton Star out here with the most confusing backstory of any character on any of the FNAF reactsverse shows.
Maybe it's more of a 'the folks in other universes who have acquired a Star have used it's power so that no one could oppose them.' Lord Eclipse, Lord Lunar, Lord Monty are all the most powerful people in their respective universes, I'm sure they would have just eradicated any other stars/ returned them to their source form so they couldn't be utilized.
Maybe it's different objects. There's just ONE Newton Star. There's Just ONE Star of the North. There is only one object that can do a thing, one star that can grant wishes.
bit cnfoosed.
"You are *dolphin noises* me!" LOLOLOL
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm wasn't a faaaaaaaan of the Stan Lee thing mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Look, okay. The magic shit is always so out of pocket, because, like they just keep adding onto the rules and stuff of magic in the FNAFreactsverse. It's probably one of, if not THE most complicated system in the whole thing because it's built by just slapping more stuff onto this ball of what magic is and how it can be done and stuff. So every episode where they talk about magic or they meet w Golden Freddy is a treasure because I can't take ANY of it seriously.
They just make shit up and it's so fun.
LIKE, DRAGON BALLS NOW EXIST IN THE FNAFREACTSVERSE THEY JSUT MAKE SHIT UP IT'S GREAT
GOLDEN FREDDY IS LAUGHING LOLOLOL
aaand then they ruined it by bringing up the submarine god dammit.
two for two on jokes that were maaybe not so great
Ayyyyyyeeee do you know who ELSE would have the knowledge to make the star via residual memories and stuff because they were in the same body? Someone who has outright been stated to have absorbed all of the magical knowledge Moon had? HMMM?
Golden Freddy is so fun too. He's like. He's timeless. He's been around for a long ass time. He's been divorced, multiple times I think. He's a dad. He has several kids, all of whom are magically inclined. He's lived through the events of the shows more than once and knows what's going to happen. He's from a different universe. He lives in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in a spooky house where it's always raining. He's surprisingly nice. He's the most powerful entity across several universes. He's nearly omnipotent. He charmed his house to jumpscare people randomly because he thinks it's hilarious. He laughed at Moon getting punched in the face. There's a Dragon Ball under his bed.
Sun did the thing! Where you accidentally use a different name casue you've got too many siblings/family members to keep track of and then have to correct yourself. My family does that all the time!!!
Killcode's off enjoying life to it's fullest. I hope getting dragged back into all this shit doesn't end in tragedy for him. We only want good things for Killcode in this house.
It only has to be a good enough reason for Eclipse. Eclipse's reasoning doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It just has to make sense to him for it to be the thing that drives him.
Sun bobbling his head while he's sarcastically asking GF "Hey! Freddy! Can you zap me home?" was great lol.
Sun this man is a GOD. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER THOUGHT TO ASK?
DID YOU NOT THINK HE COULD?
HE SHARED A PIECE OF HIS SOUL WITH YOU DUDE TELEPORTATION IS A BABY SPELL TO HIM
WHAT WAS THE THOUGHT PROCESS HERE Im laughing lol
What fucking voodoo doll?
What?
Is this going to become a legit plot point in the future? I fucking hope it does that sounds real funny.
Poor Sun he's so fucking stressed. He even looks stressed in the thumbnail. Of course the second Moon's gone he's out trying to solve the problem.
That was less stressful than I thought it was gonna be. This was a fun episode. Lore heavy, moving the plot forward, but like not heavy heavy you know? It's a nice reprieve.
I CANNOT take the serious moments w GF seriously at all. I can't do it. "How do you know this?" "Maybe it's because I lived through it once already." "You're not from here are you?" "i'm from many. I'm an amalgamation. I've seen a LOT." My DUDE. You are a FREDDY FAZBEAR. This cryptic shit DOES NOT WORK.

I don't know the exact deets but I do like how we basically have opposite views of Earth existing in the Borderlands universe.
You seem to view it as "the old world", where ancient relics of it can be found across the Borderlands.
I view the Six Galaxies as a Star Wars-esque setting where it takes place in a time and space far away from our own.
Granted my view might change when I get my hands on the lore book but alas.
To be honest my headcanon that Borderlands is set in the future kinda came out of nowhere aha. The way I reasoned it was mostly because of The Autism but let me try to explain !
1) A lot of what is established in the Borderlands lore is that the eridians were the only ones on the planet for the longest time, creating the vaults and all that cool shit, which is understandable seeing as the hostile enviroment in Pandora would make it pretty difficult for anything not already native there to thrive, yet they've all seem to have been wiped out. The vaults persist, there are guardians and stuff locked inside, but not even a shred of info for what happened to the eridians themselves, even if their influence over the system still lingers.
2) Humans are not only the main species in the planet, but the only sentient ones. That, and the fact they're just regular people who die A LOT because of the circumstances of the planet, tells me that the human race didn't just come to be on the planet– they were brought there somehow, and have had just barely enough time to be properly adapted (I mean, there's like 3 moons on this planet, the gravity must be INSANE. That without mentioning the notable lack of actual water). Aside from that though... They're normal guys. They're stronger and have slightly weird proportions (but my money goes on that its just the art style), but those are undoubtedly human beings, whom also have very normal if genre appropriate clothing, language, culture— And most of all, guns. They're so popular in fact that the Companies' main products are guns. You could argue that they're just banking on Pandorans being more violent, but what about the other planets ? For eden-6, there's even lore about how their guns are made and valued ! There's cultural shifts for how guns are manufactured in different planets !! If these people just naturally came to be on these planets, they would not need that much fire power... unless they didn't, and they were already preparing themselves in case of a threat !
2.5) That, and the fact there's so many references to Earth stuff in this universe [The names of the planets and magic being after greek myths, the company cultures, how some characters' names almost sound misspelled due a mistranslation, the references to just regular ass animals but Fucked Up, etc]
3) Ergo, there was a mass colonization of Pandora by humans, which subsequently lead them to get to all the other planets but also wiped out the Eridians in the process. The old world's history was slowly forgotten due to a lack of records ("I mean really, who's going to forget about the human empire? Don't even bother backing up those files!"), and its tech was either swallowed by the planet's ever changing surface (Like Pandora or Nekratafayo, both planets which are incredibly unpredictable and have fucked up structures in them), improved upon so much that there was no NEED to keep using them (Like Promethea), or just rejected overall once the population was established (Like Eden-6, which I headcanon to have the old timey aesthetic BECAUSE people wanted to reject those news technologies). All of these planets used to have aliens in them like the eridians, and the system was all interconnected with the building of the vaults, but when humans arrived they all just gradually either died off or went into hiding in planetoids and moons.
But thats just a theory... a GAY theory
Anyway yeah my headcanons are basically surrounding that haha. Hopefully this is coherent ! I LIKE the idea of Pandora and the other planets being more like star wars, but I'm Also Insane about the idea of using interstellar stuff as a grander space adventure typa thing <3

i've been sort of on-and-off poking at scott and pearl in double life for months and months now, and it keeps itching at me that i... can't totally make them work. like, there IS a pretty clear narrative right there: pearl goes off with martyn to the nether, scott is irritated / hurt by her not being around while he's taking all this inexplicable damage, there are attempts both at reconciliation and at further alienation, and all of those attempts fail. they die. such is the death game.
and this is fine? but i think... i haven't seen last life, and despite my best efforts to take double life as Its Own Thing Separate From Everything Else, it feels like there is Something Missing. grian says in his first last life episode something to the effect of "this is all new, what happened last season doesn't count or matter anymore, each of these seasons is standalone" and it just isn't. like, i appreciate the effort, really, but it so is not!
let's talk about martyn? the thing i am particularly thinking about: i watched double life first, limited life next, and then most recently third life. there was a good number of months before i saw third life where i was sitting with the limited life finale going, "??????" about it. it all... kind of almost made sense in exactly the same way that scott + pearl kind of almost made sense. it felt like trying to grab handfuls of sand. there's stuff on the screen martyn is responding to that i get and tracks, but there's also a bunch of stuff that's never on screen in that season that nevertheless is really important to making sense of him and his actions. ren's absence was deeply important! knowing that martyn was Like That in third life was deeply important! martyn was! actively bewildering to me! until i watched third life!
granted, martyn specifically is also kind of dead-set on making the seasons connect, but there are smaller examples. desertduo in double life doesn't work without desertduo in third life. bigb and ren's falling out immediately becomes a richer thing when you know about Blue Sword Boys and Renchanting. i don't think i would have been nearly as compelled by pearl and bigb in limited life if i didn't know about pearl's isolation and bigb's Whatever The Fuck That Couples' Counselling Bit Was in double life, and i'm sure that alliance will become more compelling when i watch last life!!
and so i am arriving at the realization that i have stumbled into a reading of scott + pearl that has this. bizarre gaping hole in the middle of their relationship that i don't know anything about. i am constantly writing and thinking around this gap, and it resists being filled in because The Thing That Happened Is Right There. there is a thing that happened and they know about it but i don't. it is for sure A Flavour of relationship, to have The Thing We Cannot Talk About pulling things into its gravitational well at all times, but it's super interesting to me that it only exists because [i watched the series weird, the series and its medium is Like That enough that i could watch it weird and have it feel like a fine and valid choice that opened up interesting considerations other people didn't get to have, the push and pull between creator and audience where 'makes sense on its own' and 'calls back to previous significant events' need to be balanced For The Content]? that's just. really neat to me.
other people have said this with both fewer and more interesting words, but it's SUCH one of my favourite things about this medium and in particular about the traffic series that even though everyone has kind of have the same touchpoints (i knew about the beheading and the cactus ring WELL before actually watching third life! we all know how limited life ended! "that time the ranchers' house got burned down" and "that time there was a warden on the surface" are phrases that have meaning!) there is also Participation In The Creation Of Story in the sense that who you watch and in what order creates a different story for you than it does for someone else who watches different people in a different order!
i think. i have thought / talked a lot about how audience in mcyt spaces are Really Significantly Part Of The Storytelling before, but it's been about, like, stream chat interactions, or theories on social media being seen by the creators and made true, or the awareness on the creators' end of Having An Audience They Must Tell Stories For. but it's fun to me that it's this, also?
the traffic series is... a closed box, in the sense that you know when you watch it that (1) there were three hours worth of recording that happened for that session, during which time Things Occurred, and (2) that whatever you see uploaded on youtube is in fact The Whole Thing This Particular Creator Deemed Worth Sharing. there's nothing outside those three hours. if all you care about is one person's pov, there's nothing outside those uploaded videos you need to worry about.
but there IS a box and there ARE other things in it, and you can put together such fascinating pictures of What's Going On but you're never going to have the entirety of it, the Everything In The Box, only Many Things In The Box Held At A Certain Angle. and that's a story! one of many! and you can just do that! you did that by watching it the way you did! isn't that so fucking cool?

real important question here: who do you think that is the best husband material from the game? and pls rate them from best to worst-
rating the boys as husbands
a great way to wrap up my married life series! i kinda dived more into the cons of marriage in this, stuff i didn't get into in the original posts. i'd love to hear what y'all think about this, how you'd rate them, etc. that being said, these are all my opinion, based on my own perception and standards as to what qualities a life partner should have
married life hcs: part 1 | part 2 | part 3
genre: other, angst if you squint
cw: first draft and unedited rambling
Lucia
❧ he's a great husband; not much changes in your relationship so it's all still very fun and youthful and full of spark
❧ he pulls his weight around the house and makes sure to support you always
❧ since he's the breadwinner, you aren't required to work in order to keep y'all afloat, so if you aspire to be a house spouse, this one is for you!
❧ he has his moments where he doesn't take things as seriously as he should, he likes to brush things off and look on the bright side as often as he can. however, he knows very well when to stop and take things seriously, which saves you from a lot of intense arguments
❧ also, because of his work, he gets incredibly busy and there are times where you see very little of him and it can get stressful, especially once the two of you get so used to seeing each other all day, every day. the stress of being the new king also piles up on him, and every now and then he really struggles with managing it, and he can end up snapping at you or shutting you out for a bit
❧ overall rating: 9/10
Levy
❧ y'all have a very quiet marriage and life together- which absolutely isn't a bad thing! it'a all just very lowkey, but the love is always there
❧ and the life and home you two share is so full of domesticity and comfort, it truly is a safe space for the both of you
❧ you both have to work to support yourselves, which paired with the fact that he's not extremely helpful in terms of housework is,, not the best thing ever. don't get me wrong, he tries his hardest, but growing up having most things done for him is a deeply rooted habit of his
❧ you also have to keep in mind his attitude; levy is a very stubborn man, and he's been known to go behind loved ones' backs to get his way. communication and patience are musts in your marriage with him
❧ when arguments do happen, expect the silent treatment and cold shoulder, but by the end of the night, he will always come back to you and neither of you will go to sleep before talking things out
❧ he might take you for granted every now and then, but his love, appreciation, and admiration for you is eternal and will keep him tethered to you forever
❧ overall rating: 7/10
Mefy
❧ you love him, and he loves you. that's something that you have to remind yourself of a lot.
❧ right off the bat you have the secrecy about what he does for work; you have essentially no idea about his life outside of your shared home, and you often find yourself wondering, "who is my husband when i'm not around?"
❧ similar to levy, he doesn't do much around the house, and he doesn't seem to be too apologetic about it. this especially sucks considering that you have a job too. you can't stay home to take care of things, so you have to squeeze in time after work to meal prep and clean the house
❧ a lot of the time, you just feel like your marriage was more of a mutual agreement than a statement of your romance and devotion
❧ if you can set aside his secrecy, deceptiveness, and meanness, he's very sweet and considerate of you and your relationship. he sets aside his own opinions, and pays attention to the things you care about, keeping them in mind to bring up at a later date
❧ he leaves you wondering a lot of things, which can cast shadows of doubt in your mind, but you know he's faithful and will always return to you. that trust and confidence is one of the biggest things keeping your marriage afloat
❧ overall rating: 4/10
Oswald
❧ trying my best to set aside my own biases for this one-
❧ it's very hard to find a man more devoted to you than oswald. he takes his vows very seriously, and dedicates the rest of his life to act as your servant not literally of course but ya know. anything he can do to make sure you live a safe, comfortable, and secure life, he's doing
❧ he really tries his hardest to help around the house with cooking and cleaning, but his strength really lies in the latter. it's very endearing tho, seeing him try his best and looking to you with a sparkle in his eyes, eager to please
❧ but then you have to keep in mind his other job; assuming that he continues working for lucia and kaim, and until there is a complete cure for his condition, he will likely continue to be sent on missions. how long he's gone for, you never know, and the only solace you get is his promise to return home to you
❧ and then you have the effects of his condition. he tries to keep you at a distance from him when he goes on a rampage, but things can happen. he's hurt you once before, and it would absolutely eat him up if that ever happened again. there are risks, but in the end, it's an illness and support from the one he loves most is what keeps him together
❧ overall rating: 9/10
Kaim
❧ he's dedicated his life to servitude; to him, marriage is just an extension of that
❧ he wouldn't just marry you for the heck of it tho, he really loves you and is thoroughly devoted to you, and it shows with how gentle he treats you, and how he pampers you in his own special way
❧ you know that being married to him ensures that you'll be well taken care of and secure in your way of life
❧ but it's hard for him to keep home and work separate, and it can sometimes seem as if he's more your boss or overseer than your husband. he takes charge of a lot of things at home, has specific expectations, and instructs you on things to do a lot
❧ it's rare for him to just relax and be with you, as his life is basically his work. the infrequent, sacred time you have to yourselves is often right before bed, unwinding together and relishing in each other's closeness, which appears to be all he needs
❧ overall rating: 6/10
Mikael
❧ this man has a lot of complexity to him, and a lot of it is due to internal conflict. he has such string desires, but because of his upbringing, way of life, and status, he's learned to stifle those desires down into performative indifference
❧ he relies on you to help him with that, and he's learned to be comfortably vulnerable with you, which really strengthens your marriage
❧ he sticks his nose up at a lot of domestic housekeeping tasks, resulting in you either doing it yourself, or forcing him to help out while he pitches a fit lol
❧ he's a big homebody, which shows he's comfortable in the house you built together and gives you slight peace of mind in that you always know where he's at, but if you ever want to go out somewhere, it can take a while to get him to agree
❧ in order for this marriage to last and be successful, you have to be willing to help him, to help each other, grow and adapt and heal. there's a lot of therapy-esque reflection and conversation between the two of you, most often late at night
❧ overall rating: 5.5/10
Ricardo
❧ he's surprisingly great to live with: he's tidy, does his part in housework, knows how to cook
❧ the fun and youthful excitement of y'all's dating stage relationship lasts very well into your marriage; he refuses to go quietly into your aging together, and really values having memories and fun experiences together
❧ his frugality can get a tad bit annoying, especially because it's conditional. he's great at budgeting and paying bills and dues, but every now and then he'll make an impulsive financial decision
❧ which ties into his reckless behavior. having you and your marriage in his life definitely calmed him down, but old habits die hard. at his core, he still has those heartless, borderline psychotic impulses
❧ and let's not forget his dark ending. he is capable of that, and whether you're aware of it or not, the risk for that becoming a reality is still there. you've helped him change and become a better person, helped him mellow and settle down, but how much can nurture reverse nature?

❧ he tries his best, but doesn't fully grasp this whole marriage concept
❧ the beginning of your union together consists primarily of you teaching him how to live with someone else. every now and then, it makes you worry about if you're treating him like a child
❧ don't get me wrong, he learns and understands eventually, and he becomes a good person to share a life with, but for a good while in the beginning, your union gets tested
❧ he's a prime example of you need to live with your partner for a while before you get married
❧ honestly, you don't feel as though your relationship with him changed much after marriage; if anything, you just feel more responsibilities piled up as you have to essentially train the poor man to be a husband
❧ and it's not his fault, remember that, he's lost everything at one point, memories included, and every day is a learning experience. as long as he has you by his side, he's confident that he'll become everything that you deserve

❧ life with him is full of adventure and bright, warm feelings. with it, though, is a feeling that you're walking along a tightrope, suspended high above the surface of the earth, but as long as you have your focus on one another, you'll always remain balanced
❧ it's not like y'all are struggling to get by either, early on in your marriage just has the classic vibe of newlyweds working hard to save up and build a beautiful life, sticking by one another through thick and thin
❧ his,, collection of belongings can be a reason for a bit of stress, especially if it all just continues to pile up. he won't clean or organize his belongings regularly unless you ask him to, and he never really sees a problem with it
❧ the two of you are always up to something, there's hardly ever a boring day in your shared life. on the other side of that coin, though, is his desire to always be going somewhere, wandering about and almost getting himself into trouble with his nosiness
❧ this one's hard to explain, but all he's ever wanted was you. he's waited countless lifetimes to have you, and he'd do it all again. yet, there's just something about him that tells me there's an unfulfilled desire within him, something that he'll continue to search for and will leave him perpetually, partially unsatisfied with his life
❧ overall rating: 8.5/10

Firstly, the intro is insane. I can't even. This episode, overall, made me he cackle throughout. This whole riff at the beginning with John and Mae Hailes is very funny. Was this always supposed to be Scam??? Or it just worked out that way?
These Scary apology moments are hilarious.
Anthony is trying so hard to keep the dads with them. He knows we need that catharsis. But the teens don't want them around, understandably. I'm glad they worked it out to keep the dads around and the teens still in character. We need the character bits!
Boss Kicks. Hoo boy. This whole bit is hilarious.
Then all the phones get broken. Everyone is insane this episode. Now the dads have to stay since they can't communicate.
I just love Dood. So much. They're so adorable. (Even though he immediately killed 2 guards to solve a problem. We'll just ignore that for now.)
I feel Taylor's excitement about finally having skills and spells that are useful. It feels good when the DND stuff actually works out. But that excitement leads to full Freddie insanity by the end of this episode.
I guess the whole bush riff goes with the cum nuggets from last episode.
Scary and Hermie fun times! We haven't gotten enough of Hermie lately. This is one of those moments when failing is hilarious and not just sad.
All the locker stuff is great. A beautiful Will and Freddie moment. Love this. Of course the locker combo is tied to the school. And thank you to the artist who's been drawing the images of Normal's Teeny the Teen calendar. All great character work here.
All this portal stuff is also crazy. This seems so overpowered. Like the amplifier. That also feels overpowered. Seems too easy to just hop realms. (Why do all the other portals go to Hell? Anthony - you setting up something with the FBI invading hell? As they have wanted to do all season? And kinda did earlier... But that didn't really go anywhere. Shmegan just likes to show up randomly, I guess).
Grant and Linc's convo. 😭 Give me more character interactions. We need it. That's where the catharsis is gonna be.
Taking notes on this episode just makes me realize how many weird riffs there are. So many things to comment on. Normal wants to help these guards so much. So many distractions.
And then we get to the Taylor and Freddie show at the end. Another hilarious and insane Freddie plan. We know we're in for an adventure when Freddie starts saying "here's what it is" over and over again. His whole plan is inciting revolution? That's his plan to get them all in the school? Anthony is so kind to roll with this in any way. Thanks for that Les Mis reference, Anthony. Much appreciated.
Love that Nicky is just the errands runner at this point.
Love that Dood can sense the spirit in the Teeny costume. 🥰
What an ending. They are totally surrounded in this school. But I guess the dads can just make portals. That does suck some of the tension away. Overpowered, I'm telling ya. But that was a fun, insane listen. Great episode with funny riffs. Excited for the next one.
