Happy birthday, X-Files! I discovered to my horror after 15 years of marriage that my husband had never seen you. I am fixing that now and we're partway into the sixth season. I'm impressed at how modern the storytelling is; clunker episodes occasionally, sure, but no dead time on the screen. Every bit of story counts.

What is emotional about rewatches is that you can see everything at once. You see their beginning in the basement office and know everything that is to come, even if they don't yet grasp the impact of that first handshake. Mulder and Scully surf a tidal wave of stories, both canon and not, rising and falling and being reborn from the sea of collective imagination over and over again.

Mulder and Scully live on the way that any of us lives on, in the stories told about us. So, as we give thanks today to CC and the boys of 1013, to David and Gillian and the rest of the cast and crew for bringing these marvelous characters to life, let's also say happy birthday XF fandom. XF is 30 today, but we keep the flame burning, and in our stories, Mulder and Scully are eternal.

(TW mental health issues and my personal life)

Me too. I haven’t posted in a while due to some unexpected downward turns in my mental health. I stopped taking my meds and was eventually placed under a 1013 hold due to concerns for my own safety. I am now back on my meds and participating in a partial hospitalization program (the same one I was in a few months ago lol). I am still grieving the loss of my pet crawdad Ricky, as well as some other losses and changes that I was not expecting nor was I prepared for. All of that said, though, I miss talking about sturgeon with everyone. It really makes me happy to know that there’s a whole community of people out there that read my infodumps and share in my joy. Sorry to answer your ask with a rant about my personal life. And don’t worry about me — just like the sturgeon, swimming on since the Jurassic period, I will be sticking around.

Spencer Reid had always been a brilliant and dedicated member of BAU. Known for his intellect and marvellous profiling skills, he was highly respected by his colleagues and feared by the criminals he helped put behind bars. But there was one aspect of his life that he kept hidden from everyone… his sexuality.

For years, Spencer had struggled with his internalised homophobia,he was unable to accept the fact that he was attracted to men. Growing up in a conservative household, he had been told that being gay was wrong and something to be ashamed of. So when he started developing feelings for his new teammate, Luke Alvez, he was overcome with confusion and self-hatred.

Spencer tried to push his feelings aside, burying them deep within himself. But the more he tried to deny them, the stronger they became. He found himself constantly thinking about Luke, his handsome features and charming personality. He couldn't deny the attraction he felt towards him, but he also couldn't accept it.

As a defence mechanism, Spencer became snarky and abrasive towards Luke, hoping to push him away. He would make snide remarks and swear, something that was completely out of character for him. The whole team noticed the change in Spencer's behaviour, and they were all worried.

Rossi was the least concerned, boiling it down to Spencer finally growing a backbone after prison and most of the team thought the same, but Penelope, was particularly concerned. She had always been close to Spencer, and she could see that something was eating away at him. She decided to take matters into her own hands and called Derek, who had left to start a family.

Derek rushed back to the BAU, concerned for his friend. He was shocked to see the usually calm and collected Spencer acting so out of character. He watched as Spencer snapped at Luke, who seemed taken aback by the sudden change in his teammate's behaviour.

'What's going on,pretty ricky?' Derek asked,Spencer turned around hearing this nickname from derek.

Spencer was taken aback by Derek's sudden appearance. He had always looked up to Derek and valued his opinion.

'Nothing, I'm fine,' Spencer replied, his tone defensive and bitchy.

Derek knew there was more to it, but he didn't want to push Spencer. He decided to talk to Luke instead, hoping to get some answers. Luke was surprised when Derek pulled him aside, but he was more than happy to talk to him.

'I'm worried about you Spencer,' Derek said, getting straight to the point. ‘Why you left 8 months ago or something?’ The unspecified date gave Derek even more to worry about due to Spencer normally begging accurately ‘just 8 months?’

‘Yes just 8 months…3 days 14 hours ago oh fine i missed you alright’ spencer mumbled as he looked down at his file as derek grins 'there's the soft guy i knew’

Luke was taken aback by Spencer’s words. He had noticed the change in Spencer's behaviour towards him, but he had no idea why. He had always thought they had a good working relationship, and he couldn't understand why Spencer was suddenly being so bitchy to him.

Derek smiles ‘right tell me what’s going on here why are you being snarky to luke?’ spencer averted his eyes down to the file ‘i am not being fucking snarky derek’

‘Then what was that you've never once said the f-bomb in the years i've known you’ Derek sat and Luke walked off wondering if his presence is making it harder for Spencer to open up to derek.

‘I'll ask again spence…what's going on with you tell me what's going on in that big brain of yours’ derek spoke softly inadvertently pulling spencers walls down ‘i…i’ spencer’s voice went quiet and quivering  ‘i..i…i like him derek i..erm…i like like’ spencer's eyes were rimmed red the tears he was hiding flooding his face.

Derek's usual smug smile drops ‘is this your way of saying you're gay??’ spencer nods and gasps quietly as derek wraps him in a tight suffocating hug and speaks quietly ‘don’t cry spencer i love you and i accept you’ derek stands there holding spencer as luke comes back quietly and stands there next to jj and emily ‘what the hell happened’ luke said quietly.

Emily leans a little closer ‘spencer is gay he's just admitted it to der- wait’ she  turns to jj and gives her the look and jj speaks quietly ‘luke…i think spencer likes you but..he's in denial about it’

Lukes face burns red as he gives a tight-lipped smile his own battle starting in his mind. Does he stay silent about his bisexuality? He's not felt close enough to the team to tell them it's always been personal to him… 

‘Cool…i guess’ is all that fell from luke’s lips and he already wanted to kick himself  cool is that all i could think of stupid luke you could have said something else! 

Emily laughs quietly ‘cool? Just cool? No “omg i never knew he liked me i need to let him down gently”  your odd guy luke’ 

Luke groaned in thought he loved spencer but he didn't want to make work weird ‘emily please stop it there's alot about me you dont know’ jj smiles and pokes his side ‘ooo what's got into you are you annoyed luke’

Luke just sighed as he watched spencer leave with derek to get a coffee and calm down the sound of spencer’s sniffles broke luke's heart but he kept his feelings silent and unshowing

What feels like hours past realistically it was an hour and a half but spencer comes back his tears gone his signature tight lipped smile as he sits back at his desk as luke walks over and sits on the edge of his desk ‘hey spencer…i was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?’ luke smiles shyly  as spencer just keeps his snarky attitude ‘im not gay luke now fuck off’ lukes heart sinks into his ‘but you-…nevermind you keep deining it’

I had a lot of fun with the fandom calendar from @welcometololaland this year. It's been a crazy month with a surprise overseas trip, so I wasn't nearly able to hit every day.

The WWE draft was a big thing for everybody, whether it was a positive change or a negative one. Y/n had been happy with her call up onto the main roster. In her mind, despite not being overly present in any championship scenes, Y/n was doing good. She made the people who needed to look strong do so without detriment to herself. The intense matches had been running her a little ragged, but Triple H had promised her that it'd be paying off soon. Y/n knew better than to think that she'd be taking the championship off of Bianca or Rhea because as much as Triple H and Shawn Michaels liked her, she wasn't a marketable star like they were. And so, Y/n figured out a little earlier than the announcement that she'd be going back down to NXT.

It should have been a joyous occasion, but Y/n was terrified. There were so many people down there that she hadn't been around in forever. Some of them stayed in touch because they were friends, but one person in particular seemed to want nothing to do with Y/n anymore. Cora Jade had turned her back on Y/n weeks before she had done the same to Roxanne. In the process of betraying both of them, Cora had expertly pit them against each other. Y/n had gone after Mandy's championship while Cora and Roxanne went after the tag team championships together. It was easy enough to put the idea that Y/n thought she was better than them in Roxanne's head, especially given who she had been before she started helping them.

All of that got worse after Y/n and Cora slept together. Y/n had, admittedly, run out in a panic. Cora had been hurt, but not for too long. Y/n blamed herself for Cora going dark on them and breaking up their entire group. Roxanne had later come and apologized to Y/n after Y/n's call up, but it was obvious that Roxanne didn't know the whole truth. Cora started talking to Bron, and Y/n put her focus into her storylines and feuds on the main roster, even if they weren't main event material. They had stopped being friends, and Y/n doubted that either of them would ever get back to that place again. It made her sad, but she had gotten too close to the sun with Cora.

"Oh great, here comes the great bringer of justice," Cora said sarcastically. Y/n refrained from rolling her eyes or saying anything by biting down on her lip. Cora was still staring at Y/n despite Y/n's attempts at ignoring her. Cora knew how to break through that wall Y/n had built up around herself, she had always known how to break down Y/n's walls. "Come on baby, don't be like that."

"Cora, we aren't friends. You made damn sure of that whenever you and Roxanne put me through the announce table. Leave me alone and we can stay out of each other's way."

"We weren't friends long before that. Maybe I didn't even want to be your friend in the first place. You aren't the only one who got hurt after what we-," Y/n cut Cora off by placing her hand over Cora's mouth.

"I said that I was sorry. It was a mistake to sleep with you, I should have been more responsible," Y/n said. Cora's face fell as she ripped herself away from Y/n's grip.

"You're an asshole," Cora said as she stormed off. Y/n stood there wondering if Cora was right. She had to have a point. Cora wasn't easily upset like that, and Y/n had done it without even trying. Y/n were distracted for the rest of the show, including whenever she went out to the ring. That made it easier for her to get jumped. Cora wasn't the only person who Y/n had been on the rocks with at her time of departure from NXT. Jacy had stomped Y/n practically into the ground in the middle of her promo laughing like a madwoman as she rolled and writhed in pain.

Cora saving Y/n had not seemed like a possibility in the woman's mind. Jacy had run off though, staring at the two of them in the ring together like she was proud of what she did. Jacy blew Y/n a kiss as she disappeared around a corner to go backstage. Cora didn't miss that little thing and backed away from Y/n in disgust. Y/n pulled herself up into a sitting position, which was when Cora took that as her opportunity to leave.

"Cora, I am sorry. Nothing really happened between Jacy and I, we were just friends," Y/n said as she chased after Cora.

"We used to be friends too Y/n, best friends actually."

"I don't know what happened," Y/n muttered sadly.

"Let's face it, we stopped being just friends the night we slept together," Cora shot back. "We slept together, and you just ran away. Hell, you left NXT completely and never looked back."

"You put me through a table!" Y/n tried to argue. Cora chuckled at the memory of that match, which had honestly been one of the most fun in her entire career. There hadn't been much opportunity for the two of you to wrestle together, much less with Roxanne there as a third. "I've still got the scar on the back of my neck from the stupid tablet cable."

"I'm sorry for that. I didn't want us to just be friends, and I guess that if I couldn't have you the way I wanted you, then I'd make sure that you didn't want me either," Cora admitted.

"I wanted you Cora, but I thought it was more important that we were okay first. This is fucked," Y/n sighed. Cora leaned in and took your hand in hers.

"It doesn't have to be."

Ya boy cried a lot today FUCKIN time to watch silly things

So I stayed for the entire stream. I’ve cried. So Much in the last few hours. And I am. Drained. I don’t have big words to say in a good way but. Rooster Teeth and its related productions have been in my life since a friend intruded them to me in 1013. I started with the Minecraft let’s plays and fell in love during extra life 2013. I turned to them during my lowest. I could open any video and feel better after a good laugh or just an hour of a podcast to distract me from whatever was happening in my life. I’m 26 now and am trying for independence that I have not had for many reasons. And I just. Am so grateful to every person who’s been there, the people who stayed until the final hour to the people who left. To the people who hated it after they left. Each and every person who has touched any production there. I can’t put into words. How happy. I’ve been because of the people who worked there. And I’m so fucking sad right now. But that’s okay. Because if they can last 21 years with a hope and a pipedram and bad equipment then I can do anything too. I just have to try. And I think that’s what I’ll take away from today. The things that I watched and loved and turned to for 11 years of my life all existed because people Tried. And I’ve cried for many hours and would like to watch something fun and silly. But I’m never going to forget anything about RT or the people who worked there and the things we as a community and audience learned. The happy and the sad the good and the bad the fails and the success. My life would be a million percent different had I never taken a chance on those videos and those big dummies who became individuals who inspired me and gave me comfort just by being themselves. To see change. To know that I can change too. To know that I can start at any time. To know I won’t be stuck.

I will miss them. Forever I think. And that’s okay too.
