Some Vox human life headcanons that have been developing in my head over the past few weeks

He was born Vaughn Oxright in the late 1910’s/early 1920’s to a well-off, show-biz couple from Philadelphia

Was a child star from the ages of about 5 to 9, mostly doing live dance acts at mid-sized theaters across the US. That phase of his life was ended by a leg injury that never healed properly (neither he nor his parents wanted to slow down long enough for it to fully heal and he kept dancing on it until long-term damage was done), and his family had no choice but to settle back down in Philly.

First realized he was interested in men at age 11 when he became super attached to an older boy in his church’s youth group. He became very clingy and started sending the boy dozens of increasingly intense totally-not-love letters, which made the boy uncomfortable and got Vox switched out of the group. The fact that this was obviously a crush went unsaid, but not unnoticed by those involved. The rejection was devastating for Vox, and he swung hard into homophobia and petty displays of masculinity afterward.

He stayed out of show-biz during his teen years, but still participated in dozens of events and competitions— any opportunity to perform and receive praise.

Was drafted into WWII as a young man. Never saw combat on account of his old leg injury, but was instead assigned to work as an electrical engineer, building radar tech and other telecommunications materials. It was outside of his intended field of study, but he took to it quickly and became very close with the other men on his team. It was the last time in his life he could remember feeling truly happy.

Realized he was really, embarrassingly into BDSM (or at least the 40’s/50’s equivalent) via pulp novels, plus how excited he was made by the head of his team being cold/condescending towards him when he first joined. Took this secret to the grave, but always kept a stash of retro-style erotica wherever he was living.

After the war, he decided to get back into show business. Started dating and quickly married a girl from a wealthy, well-connected family. Things started off okay, but only took a few years to devolve into simmering animosity. He was self-absorbed and inattentive, she started using pills to cope. Neither of them had any interest in getting a divorce though, given the times and the damage it would do to both their reputations. They had two kids who were basically raised solely by their nanny. Their parents both loved them in their own ways, but were too wrapped up in themselves to pay them very much mind.

Vox quickly got involved in the television industry, using his good looks and charm to rapidly climb the ranks and land a job as a presenter. He was a pain to work with for anyone he deemed beneath him, but he was a great networker and could schmooze with the “important people” like nobody’s business.

Despite running in some pretty elite circles, his TV career never quite reached the heights he wanted it to. He was, objectively, quite successful, making good money and being the face of his own show, but he wanted to aim higher. He managed to finagle his way into a film role, hoping it would kick-start a new phase in his career, but despite being a great performer, Vox just wasn’t an actor. The film bombed. He didn’t take it well.

When he walked into the studio one day in the mid-50’s, ready to shoot another show, he had no idea it was to be his last day on Earth. He was just supposed to introduce a musical performance alongside his co-anchor, that was it. But for whatever reason, the crew decided that this time, they wanted them to do it using standing microphones. However, due to a mistake by one of the tech guys, Vox’s microphone was not properly grounded. When they started counting down and Vox put his hands on the mic, several hundred volts of electricity went coursing through his body. His heart stopped almost instantly. He didn’t have time to even register what had happened to him, just the sound of screams and the faint smell of burning flesh.

I had this idea when I was having lunch so I rushed to write it down.

What if Genshin Impact characters are self-aware and when you play with them, they sense your aura, but one day you let your friend play with your Genshin Impact account and this is the cause of concern for your characters.

Fandom: Genshin Impact!

Type: Hcs!

Warnings: A little yandere.

Character: Childe/Albedo/Venti/Aether/Zhongli x Reader!

Note: English is not my native language, so sorry for any spelling errors.

Under the maple tree, Aether took a quick nap to be ready for a new adventure with you, and when he woke up you opened the game.

Since your journey began with him, he will surely be the first to notice the difference in your aura.

He will be overwhelmed with negative thoughts about something bad that happened to you.(Try to comfort this cute puppy)

He tries as much as possible not to panic and don't call you all over Teyvat Continent so as not to be called him crazy.

Even if he's not on your team, he'll still think of you and call on the Archons to stay safe.

Your friend complains about the difficulty of playing with him, his inflexibility and the anxious facial features of the traveler.

As soon as your friend finishes playing and you take over, the smile will return to the face of Aether, and he will say sentences in which he praises you and expresses how long he is happy to have you back.

"I can't lose you again..."

Venti was playing his guitar tune under a huge tree, enjoying the cool shadows and the cool breeze.

He has memorized your entry times so while you are offline he spends his time composing new songs to sing to you while you are traveling.

It's time to be online so He ready to welcome you.

He was surprised when he was met by an unknown aura and a voice he had never heard before, calling out his esteemed name.

While your friend is enjoying playing with Venti which he couldn't get due to a 50/50 loss, notice Venti throwing sarcastic words at him.

Your friend was surprised by the matter and called you to inquire if this was included in the list of phrases in the game.

As you approach the computer, your aura reaches Venti and he hears your words. Only then does he understand the matter and make sure he apologizes to your friend.

"If someone tries to take you from me, the wind will tell me at once."

Child in short will be angry.

Ginger's head is accustomed to feeling your comforting aura around it while traveling, fighting, or just wandering around Teyvat.

When you let your friend play with your account,The eleventh harbinger didn't satisfy him because the force that was flowing through his body was no longer there.

At first he thought that something bad happened to you, so he kept thinking of a plan to eliminate this stranger.

Of course there will be sarcasm and mockery from Ginger's head about how poor your friend is at play and Child's wish to bring you back.

Your friend took Child to fight in the dungeon so you sat next to him watching him and shouting his name to win.

He was fighting valiantly in the hands of your friend and his damage to enemies is not as usual, but hearing your voice made the damage rise dramatically and achieve high numbers.

"I will kill everyone, no matter their position, for you..."

During a sip of tea, Morax notices a significant change in the aura around Liyue.

Standing from the chair, facing the mountains, watching the sky as if looking at you from behind a computer screen.

Once your friend starts playing with him, Zhongli will not be willing to betray the bond between the two of you and serve someone other than you (I don't know which link, imagine what you want).

He will do two things: either make the game get stuck too much or reduce the durability of his shield so your friend loses the fight.

For a patient and wise man like Zhongli, he certainly wouldn't make judgments without first knowing the scenes.

He will try in any way to communicate with you to make sure that you are okay, not to belittle you, but to reassure himself.

All the time, Morax will be grouchy and give your friend menacing looks.

Even if he is replaced by a second character, he is the one who has the power since he is one of the former Archons.

He tries in any way to disturb your friend to feel your great aura again.

“I will give you the stars and the moon if you ask.”

It's Albedo's habit to stay in his lab and do his research or walk around a bit and paint a painting of Hilichurl in a cold Dragon Spin.

Since you got this smart boy you've made him roam all over Teyvat just because you wanted to explore with him.

He didn't mind at all that you made him walk, climb, and fight monsters in the way to satisfy your curiosity (he had a leg pain after you left him, even if he wasn't in pain, I let him do it).

He was painting nature under the big tree, enjoying the chirping of birds and the gentle breeze as usual.

Until someone disturbed the serenity of the place, which turned out to be your friend.

Make your friend Albedo join his team just because he likes this character.

If you, the reader or the player, were the one who annoyed the Dragon Spin boy, Albedo would be satisfied, but the presence of this annoying stranger, and the worst of his annoyance while drawing, made your friend's guilt unforgivable.

When your friend finished playing and you came back, Albedo felt comfortable and wished with all his heart that this annoying wouldn't come back.

"Want to go exploring? I will accompany you…"

Silly SAGAU Snippets

I saw a few authors sharing their sagau-ish experiences with genshin after I started writing sagau so here I am... because I'm having a block with my Aether angst sob sob, have this instead (just so you know, I refuse to do my ar45 ascension quest unless im desperate enough for primos) an AU where they also know of other players, but you're their fave :d

Xiao's ult damage getting higher??? Plus his elemental bursts too??? I keep seeing the crit damage achievement slowly getting higher (KINDA PROUD OF HIM THO COS HE'S MY FIRST AND ONLY SOMEWHAT BUILT CHARACTER) And my spoilt 5*

He just had to show you how valuable he is. You almost forgot about him so now that you've given him his weapons, artefacts and materials, he finally has the power to make sure you can't replace him with weaker characters. Of course he can't just make his damage shootall the way up, you might get suspicious (or not... he knows you'll simply be happy when you see higher numbers and might not even question it).

When I told literally all my friends who played genshin, I'll pull on Ayaka's banner just for Razor cons, and Razor cons came home twice in one 10 pull:D

You? Wanted? Him? Normal Razor? Razor... nothing amazing... But you said you want him. Razor feel happy. Want you to also be happy. He help. He make sure. So he catch 2 purple shooting stars for you. :D

On the same day(before I pulled for Ayato on main), I went on my 2nd account(where I planned on pulling for Ayato) and I SAW A GOLD SHOOTING STAR and DILUC APPEARED ADGJKJVB?!?!?!! (below 10) I've always been raving about how I didn't mind losing my 50/50 to Diluc cos I wanted him and he just?!?!

Are you sure? He knows not many people want him nowadays and the amount of disappointed sighs and annoyance towards him increase more each day. But seeing and hearing you so excited, not a drop of annoyance in your tone, asking him to come home like that? How could he resist. It's fine, Ayato will probably have his own solo banner in the future again. So just this once, he'll be selfish.

Ok, guys, listen. On Ayato's banner right, I actually didn't plan on pulling for him on my main cos I wanted to save just in case. But I was tempted into pulling simple because I had 10 intertwined fates and I SAW A GOLD SHOOTING STAR AND BOOM AYATO?!?!?!?! (below 10, that's all I'm saying)

Diluc, that conniving rascal. That was supposed to be him. It's fine. Honestly, he's a little peeved that you didn't want him on your main... and you really wanted Xingqiu over him? A 4* over a 5*? Ridiculous. He'll show you just how great he is. And how could he let you, a bubble tea addict, let you be? He knows you'll stare at him more often(to wait for his idle animation) and boy does that boost his ego.

Also managed to secure Ayaka at low pity(below 50👀) even when I really didn't plan for her on coming home

She's happy for her brother! How could she not when there's a chance for someone to represent the Kamisatos? Just... she's a little jealous... how easily Ayato caught that gold star... (She's not going to think about how you didn't even plan on getting her, nope.)Oh! But, she thinks she can catch one too! It just took her a little longer than her brother, but it's fine!

Was doing the Azhdaha domain for my Yanfei talents materials and Xiao earned himself a cool 7% anemo dmg bonus gladiator piece...

He will not admit he's getting greedier. He just... he just wants to help your team, that's all. You liked not dying before your enemies, so logically, you'd want stronger characters, right? So, just for today, he'll take a nice artefact for himself. (He ignores the pride blooming in his chest when you opened your chat to scream to your friend how perfect it was for him.)

In conclusion, the 5-stars want attention because I like the 4-stars more.

I probably have more but I need to sleep anbdkkwkd anyways, yes, expect some writings about these in the future because I wanna thank genshin for treating me so good :d

Ted Lasso very pointedly does not do redemption arcs.

A redemption arc features a character’s atonement for their mistakes and misdeeds.

Rebecca very clearly does some horrible stuff in the larger part of S1.  You love her, I love her, but it’s undeniably true.  She tries to ruin AFC Richmond and the lives of everyone who works there (probably what, 50-75 people would at AFC Richmond?) with the hopes of causing her ex-husband “as much pain and suffering” as she felt from his abuse and cheating.  That’s 50-75 people who could lose their jobs, which which would ripple on to affect their families.  That could end the careers of many if not most of the players.  That’s not even counting the disappointment of the fans losing the team that she just run into the ground.

And she focuses on doing this through Ted, a man she barely knows.  If those pictures she had taken made the papers, it could have destroyed his marriage (she didn’t know it was failing at this point but even if she did, that doesn’t mean it was any less bad).  It would have hurt Keeley and Jamie too.  Her attempt at getting a hit piece written on him was also cruel.  Maybe pulling Jamie as a step below in scale (it was less of a personal attack at least) but it still hurts Jamie a great deal (more so than Ted actually).

If the show was about Redemption, Rebecca is not redeemed.  She has done no acts of atonement.  No public confessions, no acts to make up for the damage she did or attempted.

What we do see instead is a show with, what I feel is, a more realistic and better arc.  Accountability arc we can call it.  You realize you fuck up.  You apologize for the fuck up to those most affected, and you move on.  You try to do better.  This is what we see Rebecca do.  She apologizes to Ted and Higgins (I still feel Jamie should be apologized/told why he was traded back).  She moves on trying to be a better person than she was.  

And that’s really the best you can do in life sometimes.  There isn’t always a way to redeem ourselves of our past sins in most cases.  We can’t always make up for the way we hurt others.  But we can hold ourselves accountable and then work to move through the world in a kinder, carefuller way.

This is why I think we won’t see Nathan redeemed, but we will see him learn to hold himself accountable and do better.

Okay imagine you’re just hanging out, being the top life form in your environment with the rest of your species, when it comes to your attention that a particular species of ant not only evolving at a remarkable rate, but also spreading everywhere.  I mean all over the freakin’ place.  And you can tell, at some point in the still distant future, it will evolve to a point that it’ll be a potential threat or rival to your own species.

So your like “Hm...we should check this out.” So you get a guy.  This guy, he’s a bit of a dick but maybe this will keep him out of your freaking hair for a bit - so you have this guy set up some sort of test, like a trial, to help learn a few things about how you should proceed with this species going forward.  Like, should you wipe them out now before they get too powerful?  Should you confine them a localized environment and stifle their progress?  Should you just let them continue to spread and evolve?  You got to figure this out, right?  And if nothing else, you’d get this asshole out of your hair for a minute which is good because he’s always making a fucking mess of things.

So you send this guy out and he comes back and it turns out one of the ants seduced him by accident.

Help!! I Don’t Do Enough Damage!!: A Genshin Guide (1)

We have all been here. Tartaglia isn’t critting, Xiangling’s pyronado simply isn’t doing enough or Zhongli’s meteor is doing damage closer to a pebble. Let’s take a good look at 3 reasons over 3 posts!! This is the first one on:

ARTIFACTS

Let’s use my Ayato as example (Sorry bud.): 

He is running a Main DPS build on 4 pieces of Heart of Depth. You may notice a constants between his pieces: They have Crit Rate, Crit Damage or both. This is due to him being the main damage dealer of many of my teams and some favoritism. 

Let’s see why I did what I did and the internal questions I ask myself while building.  QUESTION ONE: What role do they fill? A DPS is going to require different stats than a Healer or Support and therefore they need different considerations. A good rule of thumb is 50% Crit Rate to 100% Crit Damage at first, and then you can increase the crit damage from there. For Example, my Yae is about 50% Crit Rate to 190% Crit Damage. First, we want them to crit, secondly we want the crit to do high damage.  However, most supports are there to either provide application of their element, specific buffs or healing and don’t need crit stats. In this case, you will sometimes have to read their skills or look up a guide for which stats to use.  EXAMPLE SUPPORTS: Shenhe vs Yunjin Shenhe buffs based on her attack, while Yunjin buffs based on her defense. Both have energy issues however and have issues getting their burst when they need it. So, you can run an Energy Recharge timepiece if it’s your personal preference to have your burst back fast, but you can run a timepiece with their stats they buff from.  This leads into Question Two. QUESTION TWO: How do they do their role?

This decides on the set and what stats we need along with the question above.  Lets take Healers as an example. Jean and Kokomi both have healing capabilities, but we can’t use the same artifacts...Why is that? Well Kokomi’s healing scales on Max HP, while Jean’s scales on her Attack.  Hm. Well, that’s unfortunate. What about Noelle’s Healing? Well, that’s based on her Defense. Confusing, isn’t it? We need to take this into account when building. All characters list what they want in their talent descriptions, so we will take a look in there to find out.  Let’s Put it All Together!! Let’s go back to Ayato. We know that he is a Hydro unit that is a damage dealer, so 2 piece Heart of Depth is looking nice. But then we look and see that he uses Normal Attacks to deal his damage, so the 4 piece would be a perfect fit! 

He doesn’t have any significant alternative scalings, so we go with an Atk% Timepiece. 

And since he needs to do Hydro Damage, we put on a Hydro Damage bonus goblet. 

And finally, He needs a circlet. I am running Black sword, which offers Crit Rate, so I run Crit Damage on him. However if he had below 50% Crit Rate, I would run a Crit Rate Circlet.  But hold on. Now, why is there still an Issue?

To achieve artifacts with these stats on him, I had to farm for weeks. Building a character well can take lots of resin, time and disappointment at pieces. However, artifacts aren’t the only way to improve.  If you are still confused as well, I can help by taking your characters step by step or do more detailed guides on each character! 1.First 5*: Technically, it’s Mona, but practically, I got Hu Tao like 20 seconds later in the very next ten-pull and raised her first, so Hu Tao feels like a real first 5 star to me

2.Favorite 5*: I love them both, Hu Tao carried me from mid to end game and is my favorite nuke option for bosses. And Itto is just FUN

3.Most recent 5*: I got Ayato first and then just kind of casually kept pulling on Venti’s banner whenever I had primos. I kinda expected to lose 50-50 bc I won 3 in a row before that, but no, I won and I’m glad I did, Ayato\Venti\Ganyu perma freeze slaps

4.Most wanted 5*: Not very original. Every time they let us use Kazuha in event trials I look at the damage numbers and CC and sit there, consumed by lust. I do like his personality too tho.

5.Strongest 5*: I keep meaning to go back to crimson witch domain and farm her artifacts with better crit stats, but it kinda doesn’t take priority bc girlboss hits like a truck even with mediocre set, her burst crits for 160k on vape.

6. Favorite DPS: I didn’t plan to get him at all, bc I hate claymores and didn’t want to build mono geo. I’m not even into himbos. But then I got Itto at 15 pity doing random free wishes, and he just won me over. He’s the only claymore who feels good to use to me, his charged combo is fast and cool and has giant AOE. And sure, my Hu Tao or Ganyu are technically stronger, but Itto has no annoying mechanics like Ganyu’s charged shot and no set up needed, like Hu Tao, you can fuck up his rotations and his combos, you can even solo and baby boy is still gonna carry just fine. 

7 Favorite sub-DPS: Xingqiu is a secret 6 star on par with Bennett. the boy can do everything. I was more excited to get him than both Zhongli and Ganyu at the lantern rite, bc let me tell you, it’s not fun to try and vape Hu Tao attacks with Barbara’s or Mona’s E.

8.Favorite Support: I try keeping up my dodging skills by doing commissions with low level friendship team that dies in two hits if I don’t dodge, but even that doesn’t seem to work much. I actually rebuilt Zhongli from pure shield to sub-DPS bc his meteor looked cool, but hit two times weaker than Itto’s cow that’s 2 levels lowers. Now it hits about as much as Ushi (about 60-70K), so I can live with that.

9.Favorite 4*: Kaeya is my favorite anything in genshin, period. Morally ambiguous sarcastic dark-haired trolls with complex identity problems are my type to begin with, but I didn’t really get the brainrot until I got into genshin’s worldbuilding. I was like “Hoho, what is that? This anime gacha has extensive references to mythologies? Some of them pretty obscure? How peculiar! How quaint! Let’s see what they’re trying to do”, then I fell into the lore rabit hole and emerged with a whole ass conspiracy board where Kaeya is one of the central figures. Khaenri’ah skin with a galaxy cape when

10.Strongest 4: cryo Kaeya and vape\overload Yanfei are actually my fav teams for exploration or farming, bc you can play them braindead and not worry about burst regen or even being hit, bc everything is either perma froze or being blown up from afar. Best girl Yanfei is also another fav choice for carrying other people in coop on par with Itto, bc she has her own shield and if needed, can sustain enough mono pyro damage to kill anything even without reactions, when Hu Tao would already be dead

11.Favorite element: I like all elements, but electro needs a buff.

12.Favorite weapon: The free DEF% claymore is good on Itto, but it clashes so much aesthetically. I did a one random ten-pull on weapon banner and got redhorn, so it’s my fav just due to how cool it looks and how easy I got it. it’s also insanely good on baby boy, ofc.

Unit Teambuilding - Lodge Sycamore

My wife is gonna love that it’s Bulbasaur.  I kinda love that it’s Bulbasaur.

General Overview Lodge Sycamore is...*sigh* a primarily Grass-type damage dealer, with some backup Poison.  It’s fine.  His primary damage is Leaf Storm, with Sludge Bomb as the coverage.  He gets X Sp Atk, and a 1MP trainer move that gives +2 sp def/speed/crit.  It’s not...terrible, but capping any particular stat is a challenge for him.  As a result, he’s fairly team support reliant.  As you may also notice, Leaf Storm on a Grass-type Striker.  Immediately, we have to compare to Gardenia.

Gardenia has much higher special attack, which immediately made me assume she had the edge.  And...well, she kinda does.  I’ll try to explain.  My preferred Gardenia set involves Grand Entry.  I feel it eases a lot of setup requirements for the team, notably allowing her to run EX Rosa to take first sync and really power up those attacks.  This cuts into her power, because you’re not taking Superduper Effective 2.  As a result, if Sycamore is operating at peak efficiency, his move damage is slightly higher than Gardenia’s, with significantly more power behind his sync.  What it takes to reach that full potential, however, is demanding.  The foe must be poisoned, and Sycamore needs to maximize his special defense and his speed in one set.  This is a really tall order, as he also needs an extra point in crit, and ideally help with special attack as well, and no unit buffs all of these things.  Thanks once again to DeNA for that Roxanne and Liza grid.  So his teambuilding considerations are much harder to account for.  But on the flip side, Sycamore has Impervious, and therefore no restrictions as far as his Leaf Storm needs.  Gardenia is heavily reliant on Sun, so if Blaine runs out of MP, it’s over.  But, to lead to the last back and forth, Gardenia can reasonably run Weathered Warrior for an extra 10% over him, and if she foregoes Grand Entry to take Superduper Effective 2, she’s just stronger than Sycamore, even at his best.  There’s a lot of back and forth arguing, and the ultimate end is that...he keeps up with Gardenia, who I feel is one of the best commons in the game right now.  That’s not a small feat.

To add to Sycamore’s ongoing chad behavior, he’s got backup Poison damage in Sludge Bomb.  To give a comparison, it’s...about 80% as strong as Looker’s Poison Jab on-type.  Off-type, it’s still a bit weaker, and because there’s no Hostile Environment, he’s only half as effective at hitting the Poison chance.  There’s also the issue of Roxie.  Roxie, much like the Gardenia situation, has much higher base stats than Sycamore, and an equivalent base power move.  Roxie may not have a grid yet, but when she acquires one, all she’ll need is 50%.  Toxic Power 3 and Superduper Effective 2 will be sufficient for Roxie to outdamage Sycamore on Poison.  And if she gets Hostile Environment, she’ll have a better poison rate too.  And again, this is considering max potential Sycamore, which is much harder to set up than Roxie, who literally just needs Hop.

Overall, Sycamore’s a unit with some solid potential for an F2P unit, covering both an over-saturated type and a very rare typing, but not quite shining in either.  He’s not a bad pick in either, and I legitimately think he’s one of the better Lodge options given how he’s keeping up with Gardenia, but your big hurdle is going to be teambuilding, so that’s where we turn our focus.

Team 1: Lodge Sycamore, BP Janine, Koga/SC Rosa This is the team.  Honestly, Grass or Poison, it doesn’t matter, this is the F2P team.  BP Janine has Team Sharp Entry, allowing Sycamore to hit capped crit with one use of his trainer move.  Her trainer move increases special attack to help alleviate some of his setup, and even provides a bit of speed for him.  Her trainer move also, notably, boosts evasion, allowing Koga to operate at max potential as well.  Janine and Koga both have a high Toxic chance, which kicks off Sycamore’s multipliers.  And as the final boon, Koga’s Venoshock has Mind Games 9, which debuffs the foe’s special defense per use.  This team is incredibly capable.

However, I have to note it: if this is Grass-damage, SC Rosa.  She needs that little bit of special attack, and gives +1 crit to the team with her trainer move, then hits for massive debuffs on special defense each shot.  It’s overwhelming Grass-type damage.

Team 2: Lodge Sycamore, Roxanne, SS Lyra For Grass-type damage.  By stats, Roxanne is an excellent partner to Sycamore, providing the special attack he needs generally, and the special defense/speed combo for his multipliers, all in one move.  The only hiccup is he needs one more point of crit.  This can come from anyone with Dire Hit All or Team Sharp Entry...but let’s just acknowledge that SS Lyra has Grassy Terrain and a huge flinch rate in addition, making them a fairly potent core.

Team 3: Lodge Sycamore, Allister, Marley Allister and Sycamore can function as an alternative Poison-type core, with Allister having guaranteed Poison off of Sludge Bomb.  Allister can also provide +2 special attack, while Marley provides Team Sharp Entry, topping off his offensive needs.  Marley also provides speed, which kicks off his natural Ramming Speed multiplier.  Note that this team cannot reliably buff his special defense, unless you used this for Grass Damage and took Acumen 9 on Leaf Storm.

Final Thoughts Honestly that first team is really his bread and butter set.  BP Janine and Sycamore work beautifully together, and the presence of Koga with the debuffs and extra Toxic application really makes it all come together.  But he works well with Roxanne as long as someone helps top off crit, and has options around Poison damage as well.  It’s hard to get all his multipliers active, but he’s trying his best, and his best ain’t half bad.

Did you get Acheron? I know I did. I've been saving for her since Ruan Mei. And man my pulls were a roller coster.

I got her in the first 10 pull of 6 pity. Then I went for her LC which I got in 30 pulls. (I was at 40 pity, so 70x pulls in total.)

I saw what her E2 does and I wanted that.

After getting Acheron (E0) I then got Yanqing at 20 pity. [He's now at E2 :)]

It took me another 80 pulls to get Acheron at E1. Until then I lost the next 50/50 to Bronya at around 70 pulls. (She's now at E2.)

I got Acheron to E2 after ANOTHER 70 pulls and now I'm stuck on whether I should pull for Luocha or save for Robin.

The "Fix" for 6v6

"6v6 this, 5v5 that. How do we fix this? Can it be fixed? I long for the days of OW1-"

Alright! Alright.

Fine.

I am a shameless 6v6 advocate (an Oldhead, if you will) and miss the days of double Tank that expressly allowed me to work with a Teammate to keep my squishies alive-

-or feed my brains out charging the front lines as a giant 9f armoured mess of a german yelling "Beer!" just before I'm flayed by focus fire.

That very specific feeling is a microcosm of all that it meant to Tank in a game like Overwatch. It is a feeling that celebrated the comforts and joys of limited engagement onto the enemy, so that you could provide maximum protection and safeguarding for your team.

There's nothing quite like pulling off a Winston Bubble-Nuke, Earthshattering a nano'ing Genji in your backline for the split second he's forced to touch the ground, or Halting some poor schmuck off the map as Orisa (the only vaguely enjoyable mechanic out of her Overwatch 1 kit).

And when I say "There's nothing" I genuinely mean, nothing.

None of that made the transfer over to Overwatch 2 for a variety of reasons. Damage Mitigation resources just can't be spent in those flashy ways anymore, while Support abilities make a mockery of every Earthshatter you might throw out there.

And Halt? Well that's just not in the game anymore.

This is Nostalgia, mind you. Nothing to be done there, beyond reminisce. A bit of the old ways while I dribble around looking for my first rocking chair and the inevitable shotgun to be wielded against future zombies/mutants/guvernmints on my lawn-

-except that would just keep my awake for the next few years trying to appease the Neurodivergence, screaming about pattern recognition and Game Design using as many firing neurons as possible.

So!

How to Build out a proper 6v6 Foundation:

The following is a small list of foundational changes from which, a Development Team could easily explore a re-structured 6v6 format that would also account for re-works and re-designs of varying quality.

(Or at least, the sorts of re-designs and re-works I would personally love to see but, would require this foundation to be possible.)

Each of these is meant to work in conjunction with one another, relaxing the more restrictive elements of the game to return a lot of the design potential needed to make really creative and engaging hero designs. Too much of that potential is locked up in large health, healing, and (potential) damage values.

(Note: Beyond the below changes, removing any and all Role Passives while reverting the Season 9 changes, except for the projectile sizes, would be necessary for any of this to work as intended.)

Let's get stuck in:

1 - Decrease Hitboxes for Hero models

This one is fairly simple. Reduce visual clutter by decreasing the over all volume of hitboxes within any given match. This would include not just the hitboxes of the Heroes themselves, but also any deployables and visual effects for abilities they would have.

It would not need to be drastic.

5% for Supports, DPS, and Junkerqueen (except for those whose hitboxes are already small I.E - Kiriko, Baby Dva, Illari, and Tracer).

10% for all other Tanks.

Maintaining the projectile size increase from Season 9 + reducing overall Hitboxes, allows for body shot potential to remain relatively easy, while increasing Critical Shot difficulty slightly.

2 - Provide all Heroes with 'Squishy' Health

Rather than attempt to reduce Tank Health (which promotes a lopsided degree of survival across individual Tanks), all Heroes in every Role should be given somewhere between 50 - 250 standard health

This sets a firm, reflexive, understanding whenever a hero is vulnerable; either by operating in a vulnerable state to begin with in the case of many DPS and most Supports?

Or by damaging a Tank enough to put that Tank into their vulnerable or 'Squishy' health.

If all heroes can be measured inside the Squishy range, then every player in a given match has the potential to calculate the use of resources and values necessary to secure an elimination. Tanks are no longer relegated to such an extreme separation in Health states that they require their own separate calculations from enemies and allies.

With standard health universalized, Tanks are now free to be Tanks based on what type of Damage Adjustment Health they have (Armour, Shield, Overhealth, etc.)

Turn Overhealth into a Damage Adjustment Health type as well (call it Resilience or something) and give it to any Tank that uses Healing as a sustain mechanic (Roadhog, Junkerqueen, Mauga, any future Tanks with Healing Sustain).

Give Damage Adjustment Health different sound effects for when they take damage (metallic pings for Armour, digital 'woops' for Shields, etc.), to easily tell when dealing damage switches between the Tank's protective health and their Squishy health.

What this accomplishes:

Healers use less resources to get their Tanks back into their Damage Adjustment Health, increasing independence for Tanks and Supports both.

Tanks have significantly more Damage Adjustment Health, but, overall, less total Health (Rein would be 200 Health + 250armour = 450 Total Health).

Damage Mitigation design can be strengthened, improving Tank's active survival mechanics, rather than the boring/sustain of high health pools

Increased health consistency across all Roles, improves both player understanding and learning of the game's basics.

Reduced need for heavy handed CC/Debuff effects to punish Tanks.

3 - Universalize AoE Healing with Single Target

All Healing should have a percentage decrease, depending on how many Heroes are receiving healing from the same source.

Single Target healing will always receive 100% of the healing source

Ex. Ana Biotic Rifle or Mercy Healing Beam will always do 100% of their healing, before modifiers.

If a source of healing would affect multiple heroes, the source is reduced by 15% per target included in the Area of Effect.

Ex. Baptiste's Regenerative Burst would do 100% of the healing if no one but Baptiste is in the Area of Effect. It would do 85% with one(1) other Teammate in the AoE, and 70% if two(2) other teammates were in the AoE.

The lowest any healing could go (before modifiers) would be 50%.

Ult charge would remain largely unchanged, making AoE Healing's benefit fixed more on building more ult charge off of multiple heroes affected, while single target healing would benefit from higher healing output at source.

What this accomplishes:

Reflexive counterplay embedded in Damage vs. Healing values, further prioritizing of targets for both sides, that rewards good choices, positioning, and resource management.

Promotes the use of utility, alternative sustain mechanics, and survivability effects and their executions in non-Tanks.

Alleviates the stat creep of Healing, both in speed of application and total amount delivered.

And lastly (DPS players, the spoiled brats that they are, will probably hate this, but it's necessary):

4 - Turn Critical Modifiers into a Percentage based on Range (maybe, Travel Speed as well)

Critical hits will now be measured based on where a Hero's fall off range begins and provided a certain percentage based on that range (adjusted based on kit and Design Structure).

Falloff below 20 metres = 30 - 50% critical modifier

Falloff between 20 - 40 metres = 50 - 75% critical modifier

Falloff between 40 - 60 metres = 75 - 90% critical modifier

All damage output with Critical Option, will now be subject to the range at which the Hero doing the damage, operates at across all Roles.

Close ranged DPS (Reaper, Tracer, etc.), benefit from a larger critical hitbox on their opponent and do not need excessive critical damage to be a threat.

Longer ranged DPS, must hit a smaller critical hitbox on their opponent, rewarding higher critical damage for successful shots.

(Note: Projectiles will always be 100% of damage, due to travel speed and the more inconsistent nature of their application, though it might be worth testing this out using the above values as a range measurement)

What this accomplishes:

The lowering of Potential Damage, rather than Base Damage, strengthens access between lower level and higher level play, rewarding better positioning, game-sense, and non-mechanical knowledge, much earlier in the rankings.

Skillful play is segregated based on value extracted across Heroes (and Players) and their preferences, rather than on general optimization. Hero skill expression is much more rewarding, rather than Hero selection.

One-shots are heavily reduced to only the highest ends of Hero/Kit expression, allowing for significantly improved Kit Design for those heroes who relied on them to be useful (Widow, Hanzo, Roadhog, etc.)

Non-critical option Heroes no longer need excessive Damage output to compensate for the missing Potential Damage (Junkrat, Pharah, etc.).

Base Damage can be balanced across a wider range of numbers from patch to patch, hero to hero (no more 0.5 adjustments).

Damage Modifiers are now universalized with Critical hits as a total percentage, easing the calculations needed during fights.

Damage Amplification effects are far more tolerable for all heroes and can be much more easily balanced

Whew! A lot to work with, but overall, the above should be codable based on a variety of other examples that have already been included in the game at one point or another in it's history.

As a foundation, this would serve to place the entire cast into a baseline state of

"Everyone can be vulnerable, everyone can be healed, every can do damage, but it's up to the Player to execute for the win."

All while maintaining their Role's preference for How to execute.

Okay, I’ve read Joe Biden’s plans.

I’ve just sat down and spent several hours actually reading all the damn plans on his website, the whole thing, so you don’t have to. And here’s the conclusion:

They’re pretty good.

Are they absolutely everything we want immediately? Maybe not. Are they a solid Democratic agenda anyway? Yes they are. Are they better than Trump?

Light years!

His Violence Against Women plan is lengthy, detailed, and pays specific attention to violence against Native, lesbian and bisexual, low-income, disabled, rural, transgender (especially trans women of color) immigrant, domestic abuse victims, and other vulnerable women. He calls for replacing and expanding Obama-era policies and funding for campus sexual assault programs that DeVos trashed, and for providing money for culturally specific services that are sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of survivors. He also notes that sexual assault, while it predominantly affects women and girls, needs to be taken seriously and addressed for people of all gender identities.

His gun safety plan is forceful and lays out several steps for banning assault weapons, taking existing weapons from offenders, closing gun purchase background check and other legal loopholes, addressing the intersection between domestic violence and weapons ownership, and reducing or eliminating weapons and ammunition stockpiling.

His plan for tackling climate change and creating green jobs is also lengthy. He makes the connection between economic, environmental, and racial justice. He pledges to immediately rejoin the Paris Agreement and restore American leadership on the issue in pushing for even stronger climate standards, make climate change a central part of our trade, international, and justice goals, demand a worldwide ban on fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks (!!!) and if the Green New Deal is passed, to sign it, as well as for the U.S. to achieve 100% clean energy and zero percent net emissions by 2050.

His healthcare plan is decent. It offers an immediate public option for all Americans regardless of private, employer, or no coverage, and generous new tax credits to put toward the cost of coverage. It strongly protects abortion rights and federal funding for Planned Parenthood, as well as rescinding the “gag rule” that prevents U.S. federal aid money from being used to provide or even talk about abortions in NGOs abroad. It attacks generic and drug price gouging. It calls for doubling the capital gains tax on the super-wealthy (from 20% to 39.5% paid on capital gains by anyone making over $1 million) to help fund healthcare reform. He also has a separate plan on the opioid crisis in America, and on older Americans and retirement, including the protection and re-funding of Medicare and Social Security.

His immigration plan is lengthy and detailed. He apologizes for and acknowledges the excessive deportation that occured during the Obama-Biden administrations, pledges to do better, and attacks Trump’s current inhumane acitivities on every front. The policy of children in cages, indefinite detention, the metered asylum system, and the Muslim Ban are gone on day one. In this and his LGBTQ plan, he notes the vulnerability of LGBTQ refugees, incuding LGBTQ refugees of color. He proposes streamlining of visa applications and prioritizing the immediate reunification of families. It also specifically states that ICE and CBP agents will be held directly accountable for inhumane treatment.

Speaking of which, his LGBTQ plan is comprehensive. It pays attention to multiple intersectional issues, down to the high rates of incarceration among trans people of color. (He also notes the rates of violence against trans women of color particularly.) He calls for a complete ban on conversion therapy and the discrimination against HIV-status individuals, as well as removing the ban on blood donation from gay and bisexual men. He will remove the transgender military ban immediately. He calls for funding for mental health and suicide prevention among LGBTQ populations.

His plan to empower workers calls for raising the federal minimum wage to $15, as well as indexing this to median hourly wages to ensure that working-class and middle-class wages grow closer to parity, and implementing strong legal protections for unions. He expresses support for striking workers and to empower the National Labor Relations Board in workplace advocacy. Farmworkers, domestic workers, gig economy workers, and other non-traditional labor groups are included in this. He will restore all Obama-Biden policies related to workplace safety and regulation.

His plan to restore American dignity and leadership in the world calls for immediately investing in election security and reform, restoration of the Voting Rights Act, immediately restoring White House press briefings and other Trump refusals of information, tackling criminal justice reform and systematic racial discrimination, calling for campaign finance reform, and basically blowing up all the stupid things the Trump administration does on a daily basis. It also calls for an end to all ongoing wars in the Middle East, restoring the Iran nuclear deal, and new arms control treaties with Russia, among general repairing of international alliances.

His plans for K-12 education and post-high school education call for greatly expanded funding across all levels of 2-year, 4-year, and other educational options. There will be no student loan payments for anyone making under $25,000 a year; everyone else will pay a capped amount and be completely forgiven after a certain period. Public servants qualify for up to $50,000 in loan forgiveness. This is not total loan forgiveness for everyone, which is obviously important for me and many of us, but it’s acceptable to start with. Additionally, his wife is a teacher and has a proven track record of calling for education investment and supporting public school funding.

His plan for housing addresses the needs of formerly incarcerated, LGBTQ, veteran, low-income, sexual assault survivor, black and Hispanic, and other vulnerable populations at risk of losing housing. It calls for a tax on companies and corporations with in excess of $50 billion in assets to fund comprehensive new housing initiatives, including $100 billion in accessible and low-income housing development. It includes extensive investment in public transportation and a high-speed rail system. This ties into his plan to repair infrastructure and invest in new technologies across the country.

His plan for criminal justice reform calls for the end of mass incarceration, the decriminalization of marijuana, the automatic expunging of all cannabis convictions, and an end on jail sentences for drug use. It highlights systematic institutional racism and the impact on black and brown people particularly. It calls for an end on all profiteering and private prisons. It focuses on reintegrating offenders into society and funding the needs of people released from prison. It proposes to “expand and use the power of the U.S. Justice Department to address systemic misconduct in police departments and prosecutors’ offices.” It broadens funding for social services and other programs for people who are otherwise placed into the prison pipeline.

There are more plans, which you can find here. These are the ones I read top to bottom. I am not by any means a Joe Biden fangirl; he was not my first choice, my second choice, or really anywhere on my list. However, having carefully read through his policy documents, I can say that:

He has at the least a good team of advisors who are keenly aware of the political climate, and is willing to both restore Obama-era standards and to improve on them where necessary. Obviously, all politicians’ promises are politicians’ promises, but this is a solid Democratic platform with obvious awareness of the progressive wing of the party.

If progressive legislation is passed in the House and Senate, he will sign it, including the Green New Deal.

He represents a clear and definite improvement over Donald Trump.

Is he everything we want? No. Are his policies better than I was expecting? Yes. I advise you to read through them for yourself. It has made me at least feel better about the likelihood of voting for him.

I realize it’s an unsexy position, especially on tumblr, to advocate for an old centrist white man. I’m not thrilled about having to do it. However, speaking as someone who was very resistant to Biden and still doesn’t agree with all of his previous legislative track record, that’s my consensus. He is a candidate who broadly aligns with values that I care about. His policies represent a concrete end to the damage of the Trump administration and gets us on the right track again.

Joe Biden, if he is the Democratic nominee, will receive my vote on November 3, 2020. I urge you to consider what I’ve laid out above and join me.

‘Relentless’  45 Square Mile Forest Fire Consumes Colorado Front Range Within A Single Night (28800 square acre consumed by run-away forest fire, more than 50 homes damaged, five missing, 1 confirmed death) - March 2rd, 2012

Officals said they had never seen a fire move so fast in forestland – over 40 miles in a single 24 hour period. 28000 acres of  forest and pasture on the Colorado Front Range was consumed in flames on the tragic night of February 29th, 2012.

The Fire  Brigade and Park Service finally extinguished the powerful flames in the early morning of March 2nd, 2012, after fighting the relentless flames for an entire night but not before fifteen miles of pristine forest, pasturage, and residential homes were completely wiped out within northern Larimer County, 55 miles away from county seat, Fort Collins. The fire was moving at a rate of 10 miles per hour, destroying everything in its path.

Over 35 residential homes were confirmed destroyed and over 50 more suffered damages, as well as four pasturages and  a ranch. Moralities are still being counted, but the death toll is expected to climb as search and rescue teams continue to comb through the ashes.  The majority of Northern Larimer County was evacuated due to the fast moving nature of the fire.

There is still much debate about what was the cause of the fire, but Forest Service and meteorologists are blaming a combination of extreme dryness due to drought, and intense wind gusts which drove the fire to consume vast amounts of land. Local law enforcement are investigating evidence of foul play near the epicenter of the fire, south-east of the small unincorporated town of Red Feather Lakes, within Roosevelt National Forest.

Locals Report Sightings of Legendary “Mothman” Before Front Range Forest Fire. (Cattle Mutilations And Strange Noises Described by  Rancher, Evidence Points to ‘Devil’s Backbone’ Caves.) – March 8th, 2012

More than a week out from the ‘Red Feather Lake Fire”, the community is still picking up the pieces of the immense tragedy that damaged over 75 residences over a 40 mile stretch, destroying 22000 acres of farm, forest and residential area, and caused 6 casualties – 4 dead, one  in critical condition but stable, and another still missing, assumed dead. Because of the sudden onset and intensity of the flames, locals are calling it a ‘freak occurrence’ and suspect foul play. Outlandish theories have cropped up all over the Colorado Front Range, with eye witness accounts about a mysterious winged creature sighted near the area of the fire a day prior.

A couple visiting from Boulder County, Floyd Monroe and Susanna Monroe, reported a ‘large, humanoid creature with moth or bird or bat wings flying over the valley, then disappeared into the trees. The rest of the night there were strange lights in the forest,’ while they were camping overnight in Roosevelt National Forest.

14 miles south-east of the epicenter of the fire, a rancher, Eli Ried,  gave a disturbing account of a similar moth or bat winged creature flying overhead after the fire began, right before he was forced evacuate himself, his family & his cattle out of the pasturage. ‘My ranch was spared by the flames, thankfully,” Eli said to our newsapaper a few days after the incident. “But it wasn’t spared by whatever it was that flew over my ranch. Before the fire got close, something flew over my property. I didn’t get a good look, just saw its shadow, and it looked like it had the shape of a man,” Eli went onto explain that it seemed as those the shadow was moving southward in a straight line. “Once the evacuation started, I released my cows, heard some terrible noises in the distance as I was leaving.  When I got the okay to return, I found something killed one of my steers, mutilated it. No idea what did it. But cougars and bears don’t do this kind of damage.”

Cryptozoologists are calling it a ‘classic’ case of a ‘mothman-like’ entity making an appearance before sudden tragedy, and have set up their own investigations to uncover the mystery of what caused the fire. They have set their sights upon a series of cave systems known as “Devil’s Backbone”, south of Red Feather Lakes, where the apparent sightings seemingly point to, according to the cryptozoologists.

These reports have also inspired other fringe thought hobbyists to produce their own theories – from ideas of UFOs and alien technological interference by extraterrestrial enthusiasts in Boulder County, to a sign of the end times by Christian theologians in Colorado Springs.

The Larmier County Police Department had to quell fears after receiving a barrage of calls about ‘mothman’ sightings within the region, so many they could not determine which were legitimate reports and which were merely pranks or products of hysteria. The Chief of Police made a statement about the incident in relation to the ‘mothman’ sightings, stating that: “There is nothing preternatural about what occured that night, it was a random tragedy caused by drought and intense winds, and any foul play would likely be from teenagers setting off firecrackers, rather than any other worldly visitor.”

Former Slave Usurps and Claims Title of Archmage With Legal Loophole (Former Archmage Lucius Altinus Disgraced, Retreats to Estate in Pandemonium.  Unseelie Court In Upheaval, Questioning Validity of Power Inheritance System) –12th of Lorealaius

The nobility of the Unseelie Court reached new heights of scandal as news broke that Archon Uonaidh allowed the election of a former slave, named Valeriu, to rise to the rank of Archmage after what can only be described as an impressive, and dasterdly, manipulation and understanding of the political systems of Amorium. Now Former Archmage Lucius Altinus lost his position as Archmage when his favored slave, a well known courtesan among the nobility, was freed within the Lyceum this morning, overseen and approved by the Tribunal and their magisters.

With his freedom secure, Valeriu then challenged Former Archmage Lucius to a duel, which the former slave won ‘quite handedly’, said one magister, who declined to be named. According to witnesses within the Lyceum, the former slave conjured a pit of writhing, flaming snakes, ‘opening up like a sinkhole in the marble floor’. The snakes within the pit lashed out and bit Lucius, sapping him of all his energy, until he was unable to fight, and effectively surrendered. The snakes within the pit spread out and seemed intent to attack the rest of the Court, but they were quelled and returned to their pit. The magisters in attendence were outraged  and  distressed by this display of dominance over them, so why was this travesty of justice allowed?

Under Amorium law, it states; “All free alfar have the ability and the right to vie for power within their respective courts and realms of authority, and this right may be expressed in a form of a duel to prove which free person is the most worthy. Upon one’s surrender, all authority, all power, all wealth owed to their position, is forfeit to their rival.”

Because of this legal loop hole, the former slave was able to secure one of the most powerful positions within the Unseelie Court within one night, by declaring a duel the same evening he legally gained his freedom. Many members of the court are claiming foul play on part of Valeriu, wondering how a slave with little education in the ways of magic and politics was able to out-maneuver the Archmage himself with such a powerful spell, how he was able to render the once feared Lucius Altinus to his disgraced state. Already, there is talk of reforming this piece of Unseelie law to disallow this same situation from playing out again in the future, but it will prove difficult to achieve majority vote & pass such a reformation, now that the new Archmage commands such authority among his own budding inner court.

Many doubt he will last under the intense pressure demanded of the role of Archmage, and so some magisters have elected to take the ‘wait and see’ approach. Rumors are already circulating on how and why this came to pass, everything from blackmail to brainwashing to sexual favors to profane rituals. It seems that our new Archmage is already fitting in well  to the constant controversy that often surrounds the title.

“The (Former) Archmage seemed to be in a daze the entire time the Lyceum was in session, but the magisters found no evidence of spells, illusions or enchantments that might cloud or control  Lucius’ judgement during the trial,” Explained Vizier Titania upon being questioned how this occurred. “ (Valeriu) was clever, forced us into accepting this outcome – but how, I do not know. Therefore, we have no reason to deny (Valeriu) the position of Archmage. He was working within the limits of our laws, and shows great potential. Obviously, if Lucius could be beat out by a slave, it was his time to go, and soon, an even more powerful Archmage will come to replace Valeriu.” She reassured the Unseelie Court.

The former slave has claimed the family title of “Khorshid” for himself, meaning ‘of the sun’, as the first of his family name. He will inherit the majority sum of the Archmage’s income, authority, and all his responsibilities. This will effectively mark the first time in Amorium history that a freed slave has claimed a position of public office. Disgraced  Archmage Lucius fled Amorium not long after, to his summer estate in the western coastal city of Pandemonium,  likely to consolidate the little wealth and power he has left. Uncertain times await.
