Ghostlights as college roommates and maybe some identity shenanigans thrown in would be so fun! Maybe dannys doing a little vigilante work on the side as well to up the secret identity mayhem
Danny would like to say his college career is going well. Gotham isn’t where he was expecting to pursue higher education, but the engineering scholarship he got through the Wayne Educational Foundation was just too good to turn down. It even covered the cost of an apartment! Although, the apartment is shared with another student who got a Wayne scholarship.
Even with that, Danny lucked out and got a great roommate. Duke Thomas is chill, kind, respects Danny’s space and doesn’t throw wild parties or invite random people in at all hours of the day. He even joins Danny twice a week for study sessions!
Really, it would be the perfect college experience except for one thing: the ghosts.
Danny thought they’d stay in Amity Park. They had no reason to stray from the city where the portal was, and his parents are more than enough to keep most ghosts away. It took his friends, Jazz, and even Vlad to convince Danny that he wasn’t abandoning Amity Park and that the city wouldn’t fall while he took a few years to focus on himself.
He worried right up until he got to GCU and walked the campus for the first time. Then he decided to enjoy the four years he had on the scholarship to get his degree and live his own life like a normal person.
To say he’s pissed about the ghosts is an understatement.
The one thing he was looking forward to most is not being Phantom. Gotham is home to the Bats and they’re more than capable of handling everything in the city. It means there’s no need for him here and he can focus on school and enjoy going on invisible flights without worrying about being hunted down or having to fight a ghost.
“Are you fucking kidding me,” he mutters under his breath as he feels the familiar chill race up his throat, A cold mist wafts out of his mouth, curling around his words, and Danny quickly ducks his head and hides it from sight.
“Did you say something?” Duke asks, looking up from where he leans against the kitchen counter, squinting at a recipe on his phone.
“Nah,” Danny lies. “Just stressing.” He gestures to the papers he has spread out on the dining table, then stands up. “I’m gonna take a walk. Maybe that’ll get my brain to work correctly tonight.”
“Got your phone on you?”
Danny reflexively drops a hand to his pocket, checking that his phone is where it’s supposed to be. It’s what Duke asks every single time Danny mentions going out, worried about Danny being unprepared for Gotham. It’s nice of him, though Danny does wish he can say that he’s survived a lot worse than a few muggers.
“Got it.”
“Alright. I’ll try to work on dinner while you’re out.”
Danny nods and offers Duke a small wave before pulling his shoes on at the door. He grabs his keys and heads out, double checking that the door is locked behind him.
Then he glances around the hallway, checking that the coast is clear, and pulls up the chill of awareness in his chest. Slowly, he breathes out, watching the blue mist waft out and lead towards the stairwell.
“Wonder who it is this time,” he mutters to himself, going into the cold, concrete stairwell. It always feels a little off in there, as if he’s been removed from the rest of the world when the door closes behind him. His footsteps echo oddly in the space, so Danny chooses to fly instead, keeping his feet off the floor.
A few flights down is when he sees her: pale and translucent, a faint blue glow around her. She’s a familiar face. Emilia is one of the first of Gotham’s ghosts he’s met, leading to the rather unpleasant realization that ghosts don’t only come from the Infinite Realms. There’s a strange sort of magic in the very foundations of Gotham that makes it the way it is, creating ghosts that are different enough from what he’s used to that it leaves him off balance.
Gotham keeps her dead. Few get to pass on peacefully, and most have to wait until they grow weak and wither away, a second death, before they can be released from the living realm. The ghosts of Gotham are pale and weak, for the most part, and try to cling to him so grow stronger from his ectoplasm.
Most want him to help them pass on, or give them a way into the Infinite Realms. Some want him to bring justice to their killers. Others want to kill him and take his ectoplasm for their own so they can continue their reign of terror in Gotham, unable to be stopped even in death.
Emilia gives him warnings. It’s not always her, but she tends to be the one to draw him out of his apartment, pulling him into a vigilante lifestyle because he can’t bring himself to refuse anyone who asks for his help, and the dead in Gotham have no one else to ask.
“Danny,” she greets. “Nueve is out again. He’s going after the ghosts near Chantilly Street.”
“The sun isn’t even down yet,” Danny grumbles. Nueve, an old gang enforcer who died a few decades ago, cannibalizes other ghosts. It doesn’t destroy the other ghosts, not really, but it makes them feel pain when they shouldn’t be able to feel much at all. Taking their limited reserves of ectoplasm makes him momentarily stronger, and he uses that stolen strength to try to harm the living.
He’s been successful a few times. Danny makes sure to rip him apart as much as possible these days; he won’t be here forever, but he’s hoping that within his four years at GCU, he’ll be able to permanently stop Nueve.
Times like these, he misses having a Fenton Thermos with him. Though he’s not entirely sure it would work on Gotham’s ghosts with how different they are.
Emilia follows him down the stairwell to the ground floor. Once there, Danny shoves his hand into the floor, taking out the backpack he’s hidden in it. He’s done this change of clothes so often he can do it in just a minute now, hiding his face and pulling on gloves beneath a large hoodie with old ectoplasm stains along the sleeves and hem. A gas mask is pulled on as well, covering the bottom half of his face, a necessary addition to his Ghost Work Outfit™ after he almost got caught in some Fear Gas during Scarecrow’s last attack.
“Alright,” he says, “Lead the way.”
Emilia takes off through the wall and Danny hurries to follow, going invisible as he hits the streets.
It’s still early evening, the sun not yet fully set. Plenty of people walk along the sidewalks and cars pass by endlessly, honking at each other as they try to go twenty above the speed limit. Danny does his best to avoid running into everyone, deftly dodging the reaching hands of a few ghosts who spot him as he sprints by.
They only go a few blocks away from his apartment building, turning into a dead end alley where a group of teens (living, for once) are stuck with their backs to the wall, clinging to each other as they warily watch the man in front of them carelessly twirl a gun around his finger.
The man makes a strange clicking noise in the back of his throat, and it takes Danny a moment to realize that he’s trying to talk.
Still invisible, Danny sneaks around to stand in front of the teens, ready to bodily protect them. The man looks alive, and Danny see any ghosts around save for Emilia, standing at the mouth of the alley. There’s something strange about him; his movements seem just a little off, not quite as fluid as they should be. It’s not the movement of someone on drugs. It’s something that screams uncanny valley.
The gun’s handle drops solidly into the man’s palm. He makes another few clicks, then raising the gun to point at the teens.
“Bad idea, pal,” Danny says dropping his invisibility. The teens behind him startle, gasping and trying to press themselves further into the wall.
The man’s eyes flash weakly and the pieces click into place in Danny’s mind. Nueve must have gotten strong enough to possess someone. That is… alarming, to say the least.
He rips the gun out of the man’s hand and tosses it aside. Then he pushes away the man’s arm when Nueve makes a clumsy attempt to punch him. With his chest left wide open and undefended, Danny takes the chance to shove his hand into the man’s chest, feeling for the familiar chill of a ghost.
And then he wraps his fingers tight around it and pulls out Nueve, leaving the man to collapse.
The teens behind him scream and Danny winces.
Pulling out a faintly glowing human figure from someone’s physical body does not look good. It’s the best way to end a possession, but it does look alarmingly like he’s just ripped someone’s soul out of their body.
Keeping hold of Nueve’s ghost, Danny steps to the side. “You guys should go now. Take care.”
The teens don’t need any more prompting. They take off in a run, tripping over each other in their haste to get away.
Danny spares a glance to the man unconscious on the ground, but there’s nothing he can do with an angry ghost in his hands, so he has no choice but to leave him there as he flies up to a rooftop farther down the street.
“How many times do we need to do this, Nueve?” he asks tiredly, shaking the ghost.
“These streets should be mine!” Nueve howls, trying to break free of Danny’s grasp. But he’s quickly growing weak, his energy fading, and Danny’s holding back his own ectoplasm as tightly as he can. “They may have killed me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still take what I’m owed!”
“Dude, you’re dead. There’s nothing here for you. Move on.”
“You don’t get to speak on this, outsider. You think a freak like you has an say over us? You can’t stop us. You don’t even know what’s coming.”
Danny squints at him. “What, are you planning a heist or something? With your gang of dead people too weak to lift a piece of paper?”
“We’re not all dead. We’ve got living folk helping us and we’ll be taking you out first when we hit the streets.”
“Good luck with that,” Danny says flatly, “Begone with you.”
Without giving Nueve a chance to say another word, he rips Nueve’s head off his body. His ghost wavers, then dissipates like smoke, fading away.
Another side effect of whatever it is Gotham does to her dead: their ghost forms are remarkably fragile and it takes only a bit of strength to tear them to shreds, giving him some peace before they reform again. It won’t stop Nueve from striking out again, gathering enough strength until he’s able to possess some other unfortunate soul, but Danny’s bought himself some time to figure out what the hell was he talking about?
There are living folk involved with whatever he’s planning. It’s probably another gang, maybe someone with magic who is able to see ghosts? Which is not great. Danny doesn’t know much about magic; even when facing ghosts who used magic or magical artifacts, his go to method of dealing with them is to start throwing hands like there’s no tomorrow.
Well.
It’s a problem for later.
For now, Danny needs to get back to his apartment and work on his calculus homework. Hopefully he can finish it before he gets frustrated enough that he gives up and lies face down on the floor until Duke manhandles him onto the couch, where he’s less of a tripping hazard.
He’s just about to get back to street level when his Fenton Luck strikes again and he hears someone land on the roof, just a few feet behind him.
“Hey there, stranger,” the Signal says. “You know, we run into each other so often it feels rude not to introduce ourselves. Why don’t you go first?”
Danny turns to face the daylight vigilante, standing with his arms crossed as if that would make him look any more approachable. He’s been popping up wherever Danny’s out dealing with ghosts, which is very not great for Danny’s plans to have a peaceful, normal college life.
Biting his tongue, Danny gives the Signal a quick two fingered salute, then goes intangible and drops down through the building. His invisibility sweeps over him and then he’s running through the streets, hoping it’s enough to keep the Signal from following him to his apartment.
He skids to a stop in the stairwell, dropping his intangibility just in time to crash into the wall. Panting, Danny waits for a tense minute to see if he’s been followed.
When the door to the stairwell remains closed, he lets out a slow breath, then pulls off all the pieces of his Ghost Work Outfit, shoving it back into his bag. He takes a moment to fix his hair, messy from the hood, then shoves the bag back into the floor, safely hidden from curious eyes.
Then he very casually walks up the stairs to the fifth floor and walks down the hallway to his apartment. His keys clang together when he opens the door, and Duke usually hears it when it does, but just in case, Danny calls out, “I’m back!”
He’s learned to announce himself after a few late night walks almost ended with him tackled to the floor when Duke thought someone was breaking in.
Duke doesn’t respond as he toes off his shoes. The stillness in the apartment feels off, as if the world is holding its breath. Cautiously, Danny walks in, trying to find his roommate.
He’s not in the kitchen. The living room is empty. Duke’s bedroom door is open and he’s not in there either.
Something cold lodges itself in his chest.
“Duke?” he tries again, looking over their apartment again for any sign of struggle, or something terrible happening, or even a mess that Duke needed more supplies to clean up.
There’s nothing. The apartment is as it’s always been, just with an empty space where Duke should be.
Worried, Danny stands in the middle of the hallway, trying to figure out what he should do next. It’s because he’s standing so still, surrounded by silence, that he hears it: a light thud outside the window.
Danny turns and he can swear he sees something large moving outside the window, disappearing from sight just as Danny takes a step into Duke’s room to check on it. He rushes to the window and pushes it open, looking down at the street, then side to side, and finally up to the last three floors of the building.
Nothing’s there.
Slowly, Danny pulls his head back inside, closing and locking the window. “Must be my imagination,” he says, trying to convince himself it’s not a big deal.
He leaves Duke’s room and begins pacing down the hall, anxiety building steadily in him.
His phones in his hand before he can think his actions through, Duke’s contact pulled up on the screen. He should call. He should make sure Duke is okay, but Danny hesitates. Is this something to be freaked out over? Would Duke thing he’s clingy and nervous and a bothersome roommate? He doesn’t want to risk Duke asking for a new roommate next year when the lease renews.
But he’s worried. It’s Gotham and Danny just dealt with a violent, murderous ghost threatening him. Duke can deal with a stressed out, worried Danny if it means he’s alive.
He hits the call button before he can talk himself out of it. It rings on and on and on until Danny starts to panic about having to find Duke’s ghost to avenge his murder.
The front door is thrown open so suddenly and so loudly, Danny jumps and his phone clatters to the floor.
“Danny! Hey!” Duke says with a bright smile, trying to catch his breath. He’s still holding onto the doorknob, slightly hunched over as he pants for breath. “I didn’t expect you back so soon.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah! Yeah, I’m totally fine.”
“Where were you?”
Duke straightens up and closes the door, kicking off his shoes. “Oh, just… out. Shopping. For dinner.”
Danny looks over his empty hands doubtfully. “No luck finding what you needed?”
“Nope!”
“What did you need? Maybe I can go to a different store and get it for you.”
“You don’t need to!” Duke says. “I just needed… tomatoes?”
Danny blinks at him. “We have tomatoes. Did you not know we had tomatoes in the fridge?”
“Oh, do we? Good to know.”
There’s something very weird about this conversation, but Danny doesn’t pry. Duke is weird sometimes, but it’s fine because he kindly ignores some of Danny’s oddities that come from being a halfa and a semi-retired hero.
“Do you… maybe wanna sit down? Catch your breath? I can make dinner tonight if you want.”
Duke waves a hand in the air. “No, no, it’s fine. I got this. Anyways, how was your walk?”
He definitely shouldn’t talk about the cannibal ghost and his threats to take out Danny with his gang. “It was nice. Very quiet. You know, for Gotham.” He punctuates this with an awkward thumbs up and immediately regrets it, but it’s already done so he commits to it.
“Cool! Great. Just wondering, did you see anything weird?”
“Depends on what you’re asking about?”
“Just some guy wearing black with a hood covering his face. He’s been active in this neighborhood and I saw some people talk about him online. Apparently he just appears out of thin air.”
Danny tries not to wince. That’s him, alright. Gotham’s newest neighborhood menace. “I don’t think so, but there’s a lot of people in Gotham that were all black and walk around with their hood up.”
“True,” Duke concedes. “Well, just be careful when you go out, alright?”
“I always am.” He gives Duke the same two fingered salute he gave the Signal. Duke stares at him for a moment, eyes dark and almost dangerous, then he smiles and walks into the kitchen.
“Wanna make dinner with me? I think we can figure out this recipe together. Unless you need to do your homework.”
“It can wait!” Danny hurries to join Duke, grateful for an excuse to push off calculus a little longer. He understands what he’s doing in the class, there’s just… so much work. He doesn’t even want to think about the tests. The tests make everyone cry.
“Alright, let’s get to it, then!”
“You’re in charge, chef,” Danny says, laughingly, and bumps against Duke’s side. He expects a light shove in return, something Sam and Tucker always did, but Duke goes tense instead, letting out a sharp breath that Danny is all too familiar with. “Wait, why are you hurt? What happened?!”
He goes to lift up Duke’s shirt to inspect his shirt, see the damage for himself, but Duke smoothly moves out of the way, grabbing Danny’s wrists and stopping him in his tracks. “I’m fine, Danny. I just got hit. Lightly. Minor bruising, really.”
Danny looks at him doubtfully, then wrenches a wrist free to lift up his shirt before he can move again.
Minor bruising is not how Danny would describe the blues and purples that decorate Duke’s entire side. He can see the outline of Duke’s ribs through the bruising. “How is this being lightly bruised? What hit you?”
“A car?”
“A car?!”
Duke winces, then pulls his shirt down. “I’m fine, Danny, really. It was just from a car that didn’t want to stop at a red light. I stopped another person from being hit, but the car got me pretty solidly. You know how bad Gotham drivers are.”
“Sit down!” Danny says, pulling Duke out of the kitchen. “I don’t understand how you’re still standing. I’ll get some ice, and I’ll handle dinner. You just stay there and stop pushing yourself for no reason.”
“Playing nurse for me now?”
“If I have to.”
“Would you wear a nurse costume for me, too?” Duke jokes.
Danny looks him dead in the eye and says, “If I have to. Would that make you follow my instructions? A tight little nurse dress?”
Duke sputters, cheeks darkening, and looks away. Danny grins, victorious, and darts back to the kitchen to grab an ice pack from the fridge.
“Maybe I’ll wear one for you anyways, once you’re all healed up. Only if you’re good, though.”
“Danny, you’re killing me here.”
“Better me than a car.”
Duke laughs and takes the ice pack, pressing it against his side carefully. “Oh, for sure. Thanks, Danny.”
“Hey, what are roommates for?” Danny shares a warm smile with Duke, then pats his shoulder and heads back to the kitchen to start making a simple pasta dinner.
Life in Gotham is weird and stressful and full of ghosts and heroes who won’t leave him alone. But it’s not all that bad, really. He’s happy with how he’s doing in college, and he’s beyond lucky to have Duke as a roommate. So long as Duke never finds out about his halfa status, then he’s sure they’ll be able to last all four years rooming together.
He just needs to keep a secret.
Shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Tumblr media
As Y/N looked out her bedroom window she couldn’t help but let the thoughts get her down. Everything in her life was starting to spiral and she couldn’t do anything about it. Whenever she had a problem she’d always go to her best friend. Robby. He was always there for her no matter what and having some similar childhoods, the two of them bonded quickly. Robby with his absent father and a mother who tried but always ended up drunk and Y/N with her absent mother and workaholic father. So Y/N and Robby would protect each other no matter what but with him in juvie she couldn’t do anything.
When Robby started karate and dating Sam, Y/N felt a tiny bit of heartbreak and she didn’t know why but she did have a tiny fling with Demetri. It helped especially when Robby was in juvie but then he started seeing Yasmine. Y/N felt hurt by it but just let him be happy and went on with life.
Not knowing when Robby was going to be out of jail has caused her the most anxiety but Robby tried reassuring her with his monitored calls and the one time she visited him. But no amount of reassurance could help her, she just wanted him back. But Y/N understood why he had to go to juvie and she knew he felt bad for what he had done to Miguel even though he didn’t voice it often. It didn’t stop her from missing her best friend and only friend since Demetri had basically ditched her.
Looking out at the dark night sky she felt some sort of relief just by stargazing and looking at the bright moon. The calmness of the starry night made her eyes flutter and smile softly. The thoughts drifted from her as the clock struck 1 am. Although she did feel a bit lonely since her father was still at work, she hasn’t seen him much.
Thinking about Robby made her heart race and now she knew why. She was harboring feelings for her best friend and she realized this once she visited him. Seeing him all beat up made her heart break but he looked so torn up and she knew why. But the way he looked at her made her heart beat faster and faster. Ever since she knew why, she either loved him or really liked him.
Hearing a knock on the door made her head turn and wipe a stray tear that escaped. Walking through the apartment and up to the door and looking through the peephole.
“Robby,” Y/N whispered in shock and tore herself away and opened the door.
“Hey,” Robby greeted with a tiny smile but before he could get anything out she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head in the crook of his neck as her heartbeat raced.
Robby wrapped his arms around her waist and let the scent of her shampoo fill his nose. He missed her. Everything about her invited him, her little mannerisms, the way she smiled when she saw him. It made him feel special and he’s never felt like that.
“I can’t believe you’re out,” Y/N whispered in his ear.
“I hope you’re happy about that,” Robby teased her, making her let out a little scoff as a smile graced her lips.
“Of course you idiot,” Y/N punched his arm as she pulled back from the hug.
“Ouch with that punch you could totally do karate,” Robby smirked as he rubbed over the spot she punched him in. Y/N playfully rolled her eyes making him let out a little laugh.
“Hey if you wouldn’t mind taking your little love fest inside some people are trying to sleep,” A voice snapped and the two of them looked to the door besides them and it was her neighbor Mrs. Bayles, a (usually) kind old lady.
“Sorry Mrs. Bayles,” Y/N cringed as she apologized. She waved them off as she went back into her home. Pulling Robby inside she let out a tiny breath she was holding in.
“Sorry about that I just had nowhere else to go,” Robby apologized as he scratched the back of his neck not meeting her eyes.
“Come on Robby you know you are always welcome to stay here,” Y/N said quietly as she wrapped her arms around herself. “But why didn’t you go to Mr. LaRusso,” She asked curiously.
“Don’t want him or my dad invading my life again,” Robby scoffed as he sat down on the couch.
“Well you know you always have a place here Robby, no matter what happens,” Y/N reassured him walking up to him as he looked up at her and gave her a soft smile. “Come on let’s go to my room and we can watch a movie, I’ll even make some popcorn,” She beamed as happiness washed all over her.
“I’d love that,” Robby smiled as he stood up.
“Okay go to my room and pick out a movie and I’ll get the popcorn,” Y/N directed.
“You got it,” Robby nodded and walked into her room and looked through the assortment of movies that his best friend had.
Finding the old copy of ‘pride & prejudice’ he smiled and went to put the movie on but not letting it play knowing she loved this movie. Ever since they had to work on a project in middle school about the book, Robby and Y/N watched the movie after Y/N read the book and recapped it to him. He admits that it was a really great movie and it was a comfort movie for the both of them.
Feeling a breeze in the room, Robby furrowed his brow and looked at the window and shut it as the cool breeze was making the room even more chilly.
“Okay I’m ready let’s watch the movie,” Y/N says walking in the room with a bowl of popcorn and some cans of pop. She looked at the movie and smiled at what he had picked. “Good choice,” She teased.
“Hey you know this movie is a work of art,” Robby teased back as he laid down on her bed.
“Yes I do know that thank you very much,” Y/N snapped playfully laying down next to them and put the popcorn between them. “For you,” She handed him the can while he hit play on the movie. It was dark except for the light of the T.V. and the moon outside.
About halfway through the movie Y/N turned to Robby and saw him looking at her.
“What,” Y/N chuckled nervously as he sat up and chewed on some popcorn.
“I wanna tell you something,” Robby fidgeted as he looked down at her. She looked at him worried and sat up along with him. Putting her hand on his she gave him a reassuring smile.
“What,” Y/N softly asks as the T.V. Illuminated his face.
“I thought of you everyday when I was in there and I felt bad that I put you through so much stress but the only thing that helped me is the fact that you were on the other side. The only person who would never disappoint me and I just wanted to say sorry for causing you all this trouble,” Robby ranted.
“You have nothing to apologize for Robby, you’re here now, that’s all I needed and is making me feel better now,” Y/N rubbed his arms. Robby sent her soft smile as he felt his chest warm with love.
“Thanks I hope you know I would do that same for you, because you mean so much to me, throughout this whole madness you were the one who was truly there for me,” Robby says looking her straight in the eye making her heart skip a beat.
She leaned forward wrapping her arms around his waist and he leaned into the hug and wrapped his arms around her shoulders and moved around so that they could lay down. Y/N laid her head on his chest and drew 8 figures on his stomach.
Robby sighed in content as the feeling of her made him relax even more. He was lucky. Lucky to have someone to care about him, that wasn’t just lying. All the emotions swarming him was overwhelming but it made him feel content.
“I thought about you everyday as well,” Y/N whispered, not looking at him.
“I might join Cobra Kai,” Robby blurted out as he looked down at her worried for her reaction. He knew that she could be mad, sad or worried. It made his stomach clench with worryness.
“Why,” Y/N asked concerned as she moved her head so she could look up at him. Her fingers stopped caressing his stomach. “Cobra Kai is a very dangerous place from what I’ve heard,” She says, voicing her concerns, looking him in the eye.
“I know, it was to test something out, I don’t know even if it will work out, it was just a thought,” Robby explained and cleared his throat after.
“Just be careful, I don’t need you getting hurt,” Y/N says while moving her head to caress his cheek making him let out a nervous laugh.
“Come you know I’m always careful,” Robby laughed.
Y/N snorted, rolling her eyes trying to not show how worried she is. She started to move her hand and Robby stopped it, making her nervously look at him.
“You know you’re really cute when you’re nervous,” Robby complimented, making her let out a nervous giggle.
“Such a charmer you are Robby Keene,” Y/N teased.
“It’s true I think it’s really adorable when I make you nervous,” Robby says looking down at her.
“Are you flirting with me,” Y/N thinks out loud.
“What if I am,” Robby questioned. Before Y/N could answer him he shook his head. “Right sorry I forgot you were with Demetri,” He apologized.
“Actually we broke up, but I don’t think we were even a couple, either way he’s with Yasmine now,” Y/N explained, having a nervous glint in her eyes.
“But I thought you guys liked each other, when I last saw you guys you looked pretty happy,” Robby questioned.
“We were then Yasmine came back and I saw that they might have something and I wanted him to be happy so I let him be happy. Besides I wasn’t in the best of moods when you were gone,” Y/N explained.
“I’m sorry,” Robby apologized, he didn’t mean to tear her and Demetri apart.
“It’s not your fault I don’t think we would’ve worked anyways,” She whispered.
“One thing I know is I wouldn’t have given up on you, if I were in his position,” Robby says, making Y/N smile.
“Come on Robby you’re telling me that you wouldn’t want to see the hottest girl in school,” Y/N says giving him a ‘are you kidding’ look.
“Well I am with the hottest girl in school,” Robby says, giving her a charming smile.
“Robby,” Y/N says, a little annoyed assuming he’s lying. He always tries to boost her confidence even if it meant lying to her, at least that’s what she thought.
Sitting straight up, Y/N tried not letting his compliment get to her. But as soon as she sat up he was right behind her with a confused look on his face. He didn’t understand why she was annoyed, all he was doing was telling her the truth but he did know she had some insecurities.
“What,” Robby questioned quietly.
“You don’t have to lie to me Robby, we’ve been best friends for years,” Y/N says with a slightly angered expression written on her face.
“I’m not lying. You know that I would never lie to you,” Robby stated sternly.
Sighing Robby looked as she had her head turned. While in prison he reflected and he realized that he had some deep feelings for her, he thought he wouldn’t do anything about these feelings not wanting her to get caught up in his hectic life of Karate and family drama. But now all he wanted to do was kiss her and prove to her that he did think that she was the most beautiful girl in his life.
So Robby put his hand on her thigh making her look at him with a puzzled look on her face. Before she could let one word come out of her mouth, he leaned down and pressed his lips to her. Feeling sparks through her body made Y/N tingle as soon as he kissed her.
Despite feeling shocked she put one of her hands on his neck and pressed her lips back to his. It was all so surreal to her, feeling his soft lips move against hers, while his tongue ran across her bottom lip asking for permission. Opening her mouth his tongue slid in making her moan into his mouth as his hand squeezed her thigh.
Departing from the kiss she let out a deep breath she was holding. Pushing her hair back Robby attached his lips to her jaw and started to pepper kisses that lead to her neck and his kisses escalated to sucking. If she wasn’t feeling good then she certainly was now. Letting out a moan as his tongue ran across a spot that made her body tingle, Robby smiled into her neck and sucked on that part of her neck.
“Robby,” Y/N whimpered as her body began to heat up. The movie was still playing but it was all white noise to the both of them being caught up in pleasure. Without any warning Robby grabs her waist and rolled them over so she was sitting on his lap. All while his head is buried in her neck.
While his mouth was working on her neck his hands traveled from her waist and rested underneath her shirt on her upper back. Everything he was doing to her was making her really aroused. Robby pulled back from her neck, making her let out a whine.
“Don’t worry pretty girl I’m not done with you yet,” Robby cooed, his words making her shiver. “Can I take this off,” He asks, pulling on her shirt.
“Uh yeah sure,” Y/N breathed out feeling her core pulse with need.
Lifting the shirt off her head, she raised her arms and with that the shirt was off. He threw it across the room. Feeling self conscious because she wasn't wearing a bra she wrapped her arm around her breast.
“Don’t hide yourself from me, I want to see all of you,” Robby whispered, putting his hands on top of her arms. Still seeing some hesitation on her face. “I’ll take mine off to even it out,” He says and peels the shirt off of his body.
Looking at his toned body made her even more nervous as she looked at his abs. Robby smirked, taking one of her hands that was wrapped around her right breast, he looked at her for consent and she nodded. Letting go of her boob he put her hand on his chest letting her choose where she wanted to go. Running her hand along his chest and soon found her hand sliding across his abs.
Robby looked at her his heart racing because her hands were on him and now she finally let her other hand fall and join the other leaving her fully uncovered. Try not to stare at her chest, because he didn’t want her to be more uncomfortable, so he just went at her pace.
Soon enough she felt comfortable enough to grab his hand and place it on her boob. She nodded when he looked at him for confirmation. Letting out a shaky breath as his thumb made its way to her nipple and started to caress it. Y/N slid her hands from his stomach to his shoulders and eventually put his face in her hands making him look at her. She pressed her lips against his this time though Robby's lips were more rough than before.
With now both of his hands on her boobs he pulled her closer so that they were practically chest to chest. He brought his thumb and finger and started to pinch her now hard nipples. Letting a moan slip in the heated kiss, Robby smirked against her lips, liking the reaction he got out of her.
All of this stimulation made her want to rub her thighs together but with each leg on each side Robby, it wasn’t something she could do. Finally getting fed up with the lack of friction against her core she started to gyrate her hips on Robbys. Both Robby and Y/N let out moans into the kiss when she did that. Letting go of her boobs his hands moved to her waist and started to move her hips as he met her thrust.
“Robby,” Y/N says breathlessly as she tears away from his mouth.
It all turned into her covered core rubbing against his covered hard on. Both Robby and Y/N meet again kissing, now harder as she felt wetness pool in her panties. His hands found her shorts and pulled away from the kiss.
“May I,” Robby questioned breathlessly.
“Yes please,” Y/N basically begged and he couldn’t deny her.
With the help of her Robby pulled her shorts and panties off and threw them in the same direction of her shirt. Before a word was spoken she crashed her lips onto his. All of her bashfulness disappeared as she started to grind herself against his hard-on, begging for some sort of friction.
Robby moaned into her mouth as his lips moved against hers, that gave her the confidence to slip her tongue in. Robby couldn’t help but smile at the up roar of confidence she had. His hands found Y/N’s thighs as she continued to grind herself onto him. His fingers found her core and started to rub figure eights on her clit, he smirked when he found out how wet she was.
“Oh god Robby,” Y/N moaned loudly and she was thankful that her father wasn't home.
As his finger rubbed against her clit Y/N found herself clenching around nothing and she knew that her climax was going to be reached soon. The faster his fingers rubbed the faster she was going to cum.
With shaky breaths she grabbed Robby’s hand and he looked at her confused, he knew that she liked it from her reactions. Bringing his fingers to her lips she opened her mouth and sucked his fingers finding the taste of herself there. Robby moaned as she continued to suck his fingers and let her tongue run up on the side. He could feel his throbbing hard now more than ever.
“I need you,” Y/N whimpered as she let go of his fingers, looking him directly in his eyes.
“Are you sure,” Robby whispered.
“If you don’t get me off now I’ll have to do it myself,” Y/N breathed out as her lips fanned over his own.
Muttering a soft okay, he was flabbergasted with her confidence but it did turn him on even more, if that was even possible. He pulled his pants and boxers off and kicked them somewhere else. Meanwhile Y/N felt herself clenching with arousal. She kissed him and it was softer this time as she moved herself so she was hovering over his erection.
“Wait, what about a condom,” Robby asked as he had to catch his breath.
“I don’t care, just pull out,” Y/N whispered in his ear as she started to kiss his neck.
Grabbing his length Robby ran his tip up and down her folds which made her breath hitch in his ear. Grinning as he circled her clit, making her let out tiny whimpers and whines. Lining his shaft against her entrance, she took a deep breath.
“You ready,” Robby asked, noticing her hesitance.
“Yes please. Don’t worry I trust you,” Y/N whispered against his lips, putting her hands on his shoulders.
Robby nodded, pushed his tip in slightly and moved his hands to her hips as her breath staggered. He slowly slid her down on his length and she let out a few moans and tucked her head in the crook of his neck. Once fully seated on his cock, Robby let her relax for a moment drawing figure eights on her hips.
“Does it hurt,” Robby whispered, pressing a few kisses on her shoulder.
“Only a little,” Y/N confesses.
“That’s okay just go at your own pace,” Robby reassured her. He didn’t wanted this to be this to be a painful experience for her, Robby wanted her to feel as good as he did.
Moving one of his hands across her stomach, he travelled it down and started to softly rub figure eights on her swollen clit. Letting out a little whimper in his ear, she felt herself clench around him as her hips stuttered. Robby let out a deep breath when she did this, feeling arousal coursing through his veins.
Starting to feel that pain disappear she started to rock her hips and go up and down on him. Surprised at the pleased sensation, Y/N kept going, as Robby's thumb continued to work faster on her swollen nub.
“Robby,” Y/N moaned loudly as she started to go faster.
Robby, who felt all of her clenching, started to let out moans and groans as well. He knew she was a virgin but didn’t think she’d feel this tight around him. Her lips found his and he met her hips.
She whimpered and bit his lips when his tip hit that special spot inside her, that made her clench around him. Robby moaned and he was lucky she was almost at her climax because he was reaching that point as well.
“Robby I’m close,” She moaned into his mouth as she felt herself clenching harder around him.
“Don’t worry I am too,” Robby breathed out as he felt him twitch inside of her.
With one particular thrust, his tip hit her g spot and his fingers were working its magic on her clit. Y/N let out a loud moan as she clenched her pussy around his hardened dick, as she exploded all of him.
Letting out a deep breath she rested her head on his shoulder and Robby moved his hands to her hips and started to move her up and down chasing his own orgasm. Y/N moaned as he roughly thrust up into her and as she started to clench around him again he moaned and spurted his seed inside of her. His hungry lips kissed her jaw and sucked on it.
Robby pulled himself out of her and she rolled off him, he pulled a blanket over him as the ‘Pride and Prejudice’ you have bewitched me scene played. Y/N smiled as she rested her head on his chest, Robby pressed a kiss on the crown of her forehead.
“I think I love you,” Robby whispered, craning his neck slightly down so he could look at her.
“Really,” Y/N questioned as shock crawled all over her body, she never in a million years would have thought that he would love her, at least in that way.
“I do, you have been the only consistent person in my life who hasn’t given up on me. No matter how much I actually deserved it,” Robby confessed.
“I think I love you too,” Y/N lovingly whispered against his lips.
Not even 5 minutes later were the two sleeping safe and sound in each other’s arms. That night was one of the most perfect for the both of them.
Tumblr media
The next few months were the best for Y/N and Robby. A few days after they had sex Robby had asked her to be his girlfriend and she excitedly accepted. Even though he was now in Cobra Kai and she thought that Kreese and Silver weren’t to be trusted and Robby agreed. He was just using them to get the win and that calmed Y/N down.
Even though Robby was staying at the Cobra Kai dojo he usually stayed at Y/N’s place when her father wasn’t home. She didn’t visit the Dojo unless it was at night where no one was around, she didn’t feel like getting caught up with all the karate drama.
Since she stopped seeing Demetri she didn’t have any ties with him or the miyagi do/eagle fang dojo so she didn’t have that stress in her life. Although Y/N wished she had more friends to talk to about her problems.
Especially now.
With work and the school year almost coming to an end she had so much stress on her plate she didn’t even realize that she had missed her period. Y/N tried brushing it off thinking it was some teenage hormonal problem but then she remembered that he didn’t pull out. With her throwing up almost every morning and having these weird food cravings she came to the conclusion.
She might be pregnant.
Robby knew that she was sick and Y/N told him that it was probably something she ate. She never thought it could be something as big as this.
Using shaky hands she picked up the pregnancy test she had bought at the drugstore. Feeling tears brim as she stared at the two lines. This was the worst outcome that could have ever happened to her. Y/N never thought she would get pregnant in high school and she didn’t even know what to do.
Doing the math in her head she would have to be around 3-4 months so she would have to figure out if she wanted an abortion or not. Y/N knew she would have to talk to Robby about this if not for input then for comfort because it felt like her whole world was falling apart at the moment. But she also didn’t want to stress him out, since he had the All Valley tournament coming up soon.
She knew he was coming to the apartment tonight for a pizza night but the thought made her stomach turn, so she decided to lay down for a few minutes, hoping the thoughts would fly away.
Feeling someone shake her awake, she opened her eyes to see Robby sitting on the edge of her bed with a smile on his face.
“Hey sleepy head, how long were you asleep for,” Robby cooed, making her smile. Looking at the time she was shocked to see it was 9 pm.
“A few hours,” Y/N says as a nervous chuckle escaped her lips.
“Don’t worry I didn’t forget the food this time,” Robby reassured her with a cheeky smile on his face. Y/N smiled but it faltered as soon as the thoughts came swarming back. “Hey what’s wrong you wanted Pizza right,” He asks concerned.
“Yeah it's not that, don't worry,” Y/N tried reassuring him but failed miserably.
“You don’t have to lie to me, you know that,” Robby softly tells her, grabbing one of her heads and giving it a gentle squeeze.
“I think I know why I’ve been sick,” Y/N whispered as she sat up and grimaced.
“But that’s good right,” Robby questioned and she nodded with a frown still attached to her face. “So what’s got you all upset then,” He asked, his face painted with concern, thinking it could be life endangering.
“It’s not something that’s easily fixable, if we even want to fix it in the first place,” Y/N explained looking down at their connected hands, fearing rising in her stomach.
“Okay you’re gonna have to tell me what’s going on,” Robby sternly says while trying to remain calm. He was starting to feel nauseous, his whole body paralyzed with fear, he didn’t want to lose the only person who has ever given a shit about him.
“Just don’t freak out please,” Y/N pleaded as she looked up at him. Robby nodded, not trusting his own voice at the moment. Taking a deep breath before she spoke with a quiver in her voice when she says, “I’m pregnant.”
Robby's eyes widened as he stared at her gobsmacked at the words that just came out of her mouth. His hand stays firmly placed in hers but now his heart just dropped to his stomach which caused him to squeeze her hand a little harder. He never thought about being a parent since his dad wasn’t around and his mom wasn’t the best influence.
He just didn’t think that he’d be a good father, he was afraid that he would end up just like his dad and Robby didn’t want that to happen to his future kid. But now he didn’t know what to think, they were just finishing high school, he didn’t have a job but Y/N had a job working at a diner but that’s it. How could they handle a kid? He was already screwed up.
Swallowing, his throat became really dry and his breathing started to become a bit uneven. The All Valley tournament was coming up in a few weeks and Robby was solely focused on that but now that’s changed, he has to put his all into Y/N.
“Are you okay Robby,” Y/N quietly asked, giving him a squeeze to let him know she was there with him.
“Uh have you confirmed it with a doctor yet just to make sure,” Robby cleared his throat, maybe it was just a false positive.
“Not yet but I can book an appointment,” Y/N answered his question. “But Robby what if I am, what are we going to do,” She asked with her lip having a little quiver.
“I don’t know but whatever you decide to do, I’ll be there alongside you, I am not going to turn into my dad,” Robby reassured her with a little smile trying to cheer the mood.
“Would you want to keep it,” Y/N asked, her heart beating faster but her nerves calmed down since his reaction wasn’t bad.
“Maybe, but I know that babies hard works and we’re only 18, so if you wanted to get an abortion I’ll stand by you whole heartedly,” Robby confessed making her give him a shy smile.
“Let’s just see if I am pregnant then we’ll decide from there,” Y/N says, grabbing the pizza box as she starts to feel hungry again.
“You’re right, maybe we’re worrying about nothing,” Robby laughs.
Tumblr media
“Looks like you’re pregnant Ms. Y/L/N,” The doctor told Robby and Y/N as he looked at the papers in front.
Y/N sighed as she was not surprised about the news. Deep down she knew that she was pregnant, her period hadn't been around in a while and the other symptoms were all too telling.
“Okay thanks for telling us,” Robby thanked the doctor.
“Would you like to schedule an ultrasound,” The doctor asked. “Or are you two looking at other options.” Y/N looked at Robby for an answer and shrugged his shoulders not knowing what to do.
“I-I guess I’ll schedule one,” Y/N answered quietly, fidgeting with her fingers as she felt her eyes start to well up with tears. It was all overwhelming and with her hormones in overdrive it was much worse.
“Next Monday good for you,” He asked looking at the two through his glasses and they both nodded quickly.
The doctor left the couple standing on their own in the middle of the lobby of the hospital. Robby sighed, raising his arms and wrapping them around her shoulders, as he started to see tears falling from her.
Burying her face in his chest she let out a few sobs, Robby ran comforting hands down her shoulders trying to calm her down but it barely worked. Robby felt like he didn’t know what to do, his girlfriend was pregnant and sobbing and he didn’t even know how to comfort her. How was he going to handle a baby?
Pressing a kiss to her forehead she lifted her head right after that and his heart broke. Her cheeks were stained with tears and her eyes were puffy and red.
“Hey it’s going to be alright, we’re going to figure this all out,” Robby tried comforting her while putting his hands on her cheeks and wiping the remaining tear. Y/N smiled at him trying to reassure her but she couldn’t escape her thoughts.
“I think I wanna keep it,” Y/N whispered, her voice hoarse from crying. Robby nodded, supporting her.
“Like I said no matter what I’m gonna stand by you, I’m not gonna abandon you or our child,” Robby promised, then leaning down to plant a kiss on her lips.
She smiled into the kiss but wasn’t aware of someone’s eyes that were on the two of them as they left the hospital. Carmen Diaz was watching the whole interaction confused why Johnny's son was at the hospital, worried as to what happened.
Walking up to the doctor who was talking to the doctor who was talking to the couple.
“Hey Dr. Carpenter what was with two people you were talking with,” Carmen asked as she crossed her arms around her chest.
“Why do you know them,” The doctor asked, wondering why a nurse wanted to know this.
“It’s my boyfriend's son and I’m assuming girlfriend. I just want to make sure they’re okay,” Carmen calmly asked, as her eyes stayed trained on the doctor in front of her.
“Well it turns out that your boyfriend is going to maybe be a grandfather,” The doctor told her and as she was about to unload a lot of questions he was whisked away by another nurse.
Carmen knew she was going to have to tell Johnny about this and she was lucky they were going to the Larussos for dinner that night.
Tumblr media
“Something happened at work today,” Carmen spoke as she sat at the table with Johnny next to her and Amanda and Daniel across from them. Yaya was in the living room with Miguel and Sam as they watched t.v. They just finished dinner and that’s when Carmen thought it was best to bring up Robby.
“Someone die again,” Johnny asked, putting his arms around her.
“No,” Carmen says while rolling her eyes. “I saw Robby with his girlfriend,” She blurted out, deciding to rip the bandaid off.
“Is he okay,” Daniel asked as shock was painted all over his face.
Johnny let out a sigh at the mention of his son, he didn’t want to show it but he was really worried about Robby and was concerned to why he was at the hospital.
“He’s not dying is he,” Johnny spoke up.
“No he’s not dying, he wasn’t even there for him,” Carmen explained, confusing the two men and Amanda. “Turns out you’re gonna be a grandfather Johnny,” She says, turning to look at the man, whose face was contorting into confusion.
“Robby's pregnant,” Johnny asked and everyone rolled their eyes at what he said.
“No Johnny his girlfriend is,” Amanda answered, wondering how he got to that answer.
“That makes more sense,” Johnny pointed out.
“We have to talk to him again and try to help him out,” Daniel says, concerned for the two teens who were going through a rough time.
“How he is so dead set on staying with Cobra Kai, so he can win the tournament,” Johnny questioned, he wanted to help his son, especially since he was going to be a dad himself now, but Robby wasn’t going to talk to him or Daniel.
“Maybe you should try talking to the girlfriend,” Amanda voiced her opinion.
“She’s right, they seemed pretty close and I think if Robbys gonna listen to anyone it might be her,” Carmen remarked, making the two men look at each other.
“We have to try Johnny.”
“I know.”
Tumblr media
Johnny and Daniel sat in the diner where the girl who’s named they know is Y/N. Daniel remembered when Robby was still with him, and how close the two were. Johnny didn’t know who the girl was but he knew he had help his son so he would have to know who this girl was.
The two men figured out where she worked from Demetri who was concerned for her. Even though they didn’t stay together it didn’t stop him from caring about her. They didn’t tell anyone about the baby not wanting to cause stress to the couple as they were dealing with a lot already.
Johnny was not coming to terms about this. He was just worried about his son even though he was with Cobra Kai, he understood why he was with Cobra Kai. He was in his position where all he wanted to do was win, to get that trophy. Johnny understood that all too well. But he wanted to be a part of his grandchild’s life as he was not there for his sons. Even though he thought he was too young to be a grandfather.
Daniel on the other hand just wanted to make sure Robby was okay along with Y/N. He knows how tough babies are and if they’re going to keep it they’re gonna need some help. He needed to try even harder than before. He knew that Robby was mature for his age but babies were a whole other level. Daniel cared about Robby, and even though he can be a bit hot headed and say things he doesn’t mean, it doesn’t stop him from caring.
“I feel like a stalker here just waiting for this teenage girl,” Daniel says, shaking his head.
“Don’t be such a pansy Larusso, we’re here to help Robby no matter what it takes even if it takes a little intimidation,” Johnny stated.
“I’m not threatening a pregnant teenage girl Johnny,” Daniel says, flabbergasted at what he was just suggesting.
“I’m not gonna hurt her, Larusso just giver a push, not a real one, a metaphorical one,” Johnny reassured him but Daniel didn’t look comforted.
“I don’t want to cause her any more stress than she already has going on, especially since she’s pregnant,” Daniel said with a hind irritation in his voice.
“Okay I won’t come off aggressive,” Johnny said with a gloomy sigh.
“Hey, what can I get you guys,” Y/N said with a smile as she held a tiny notepad. “Oh hey Mr. Larusso,” She greeted as soon as she realized who it was sitting in front of her. She didn’t know who the other man was though.
“Can we talk,” Daniel says with a soft smile, not trying to scare the girl off.
“Uh yeah but make it quick I’m still supposed to be working,” Y/N accepted as she grabbed a chair so she could sit on it.
“They won’t need you, it's practically dead in here,” Johnny spoke, looking around the diner and there was only one other couple in the place beside the workers.
“And you are,” Y/N questioned, raising one of her eyebrows.
“Johnny Lawerence,” He introduced himself.
“Oh I know who you are,” Y/N says, her face sprinkled with annoyance. “I’ve heard a lot about you and it’s nothing good,” She says, crossing her arms across her chest.
“I’m sure you have,” Johnny says with a sarcastic smile.
“Okay we’re not here to fight, we’re here to talk about Robby and we know that you can get through to him,” Daniel explained, interrupting the two not wanting a fight to break out. That was the last thing they needed.
“I’m not going to be your spokesperson if you want to talk to Robby, go ahead and talk to him, you’re both adults. I also cannot make Robby do anything he doesn’t want to do,” Y/N snapped glaring at the two men in front of her.
“Cobra Kai is a dangerous place for him to be at right-,” Daniel started to say but was interrupted by her.
“Oh my god, I do not want to get into this karate drama bullshit. Robby chose to be with Cobra Kai, that’s his choice, I can’t choose what he does,” Y/N angrily says.
“I’m just gonna say we know you’re pregnant and that it’s my son's child that’s why we’re really here,” Johnny blurted out, starting to feel annoyed at where this conversation is going. She turned to him with a surprised expression on her face.
“How’d you know,” Y/N asks quietly, starting to pick at the skin around her nails. It was a terrible habit she has, whenever she's anxious she does this.
“Well you already look pregnant, but you’re already acting like it as well,” Johnny snapped, making her eyes widened.
“Johnny,” Daniel chastises.
“Are you calling me fat,” Y/N questioned as her chest started to fill with anger.
“No, I'm saying you look pregnant,” Johnny says.
“I-I don’t wanna listen to this anymore,” Y/N stammered standing up and putting the chair back.
“Wait please-,” Daniel began to say.
“No I don’t want to listen to the two of you using me to try to get Robby to quit Cobra Kai. I don’t want to be insulted. You just want to be in your grandchild’s life because you weren’t in your own sons, you think that’ll make up for all that so no I’m not gonna try to talk Robby out of anything,” Y/N explained running her hand through her hair. She started to feel a bit dizzy so she rested her hand on the outside of the booth.
“What are you two doing here,” Robby snapped as he walked up to Y/N put his hands on her shoulders to steady her.
“We just came to talk,” Daniel defended himself and Johnny.
“I’ll wait outside for you while you talk to these two bozos,” Y/N muttered, pecking his cheek before exiting the diner. She needed some fresh air to get out of the stressful situation.
“Why are you coming to my girlfriend's work and unloading all of your problems onto her,” Robby huffed while sitting down.
“You don’t know what we were talking about,” Johnny snapped.
“I have a pretty good feeling I do,” Robby muttered.
“Why would you get a girl pregnant, especially in the situation that you’re in now,” Johnny questioned, trying not to come off angry.
“How do you know that,” Robby asked as his eyes widened. Neither of them had told anyone about the baby.
“Carmen,” Johnny answered.
“We just wanted to talk since you are going to be a father. We wanted to make sure you were okay along with Y/N,” Daniel spoke up.
“Well we’re okay so you can go,” Robby swallowed as he started to feel nervous.
“Robby you’re going to be a father, do you know how much of a big step that is,” Johnny asked.
“I do but I’m going to try. Unlike you, I’m not going to give up on Y/N or our child. I’m not gonna quit, I’m going to step up and take responsibility,” Robby snapped while rolling his eyes and Johnny let out a sigh.
“I just want to try and make amends,” Johnny says quietly.
“Then why didn’t you try talking to me sooner, why now, is it because you want to have a redo with a grandchild since you screwed me up so bad,” Robby says with an amused look on his face. “Don’t worry I won’t bring her in this situation because I would never do that to her.”
Before the two could say anything else Robby stood up and marched towards the door exiting the building. Y/N stood leaned against the wall with an anxious look on her face.
“You okay,” Robby softly questioned as he looked her over, it looked like she was about to be sick.
“Did you talk things out with them,” Y/N asked, ignoring his question while looking at the cement she stood on.
“My father’s trying to make amends but I didn’t want to hear any more of the bullshit he was spewing,” Robby answered quietly with an angered expression on his face.
“Are you going to give him a chance or Mr. Larusso,” She asked.
“Not now at least with the tournament coming up,” Robby quickly answered.
“Listen Robby maybe after this tournament you should try to talk it out with him there’s obviously some unresolved problems and I don’t want you to harbor all this hate forever,” Y/N explained as he wrapped his arms around her.
“Maybe.”
“Just promise you’ll think about it.”
“I promise,” Robby murmured with a smile on his face as he kissed the base of her collarbone. She returned the smile as she felt him in the crook of her neck.

“Y/n are you ready to go?” Steve asked as he came into your bedroom.
“Go ahead without me. I have a few things I need to get done before I head into the office.” You looked you from tying your boots. “Should only take an hour max.”
“You sure? I can help.”
“Yeah, I’m sure. Go before you’re late.”
“Ok.” Before leaving he came into the room, gave you a quick kiss and left for work.
You started locking everything up to leave when you get this uneasy feeling in your stomach. You pull your gun out of its holster an keep it at your side as you continue to lock up. Nobody was in the house, but the feeling was still there. After holstering you weapon, you lock the front door and make your way to your truck. Being sure to hold your self-defense rod in-between your fingers.
You walked down the sidewalk to the driveway, and around you truck to the driver side. You went to open the door when you heard footsteps rushing up behind you. You immediately swing your hand behind you. It collided with a person’s side. You whipped around to see a man holding his side. You started fighting, kicking and punching but he was able to block almost every single one of them. He pulled out what looked like a police baton and started swinging. You were able to grab the baton, but he quickly pushed you back against your truck to hold you in place.
“Not so tough now Y/n.” he got cocky as you tried to push him off.
“You sure about that?” leaving a confused look in his face. You used as much force as you could and kneed him in the groin. He fell to the ground, grabbing himself.
You leaned over him. “Dumb-Ass.”
You went to cuff him but before you could you felt a sting on the side of your neck.
“Ouch!” You grabbed where the pain was and looked to the side only to see Wo Fat with a syringe in his hand. Then everything went dark.
- At 5-O HQ hours later-
“This is Y/n, leave a message and I will get back to you soon.” Steve was calling you again to see where you were.
“Has anyone heard from Y/n yet?” Steve started asking the team when you hadn’t showed up.
“No” Kono and Chin said simultaneously.
“I haven’t either,” Danny said. “Did she say when she would be in?”
“She told me that she had a few things to do before work, but it wouldn’t take more than an hour.”
“Maybe they are just taking longer than she thought.”
“I’m sure that’s it. Y/n gets sidetracked sometimes.” Chin said trying to explain why you’re not here.
“Well yeah, but I have called her a few times already and she’s not picking up.”
“Here let’s try this. She has one of those squares to locate her keys, right?” Kono questioned Steve.
“Yeah, I bought a few after she kept losing her keys. I have one on mine too.”
“Let me see yours.” Steve handed over his keys. Kono placed them on the table and started typing to see if she could track down Y/n’s squares.
“Here we go.” She slid the table screen to the big screen. “There’s your keys here at HQ and there are 2 here, which is…  At your house? Y/n’s at home?”
“Why wouldn’t she answer your calls if she was home this whole time?” Chin asked.
“Alright, Danny and I will swing by there and see what’s going on.”
Steve pulled up, out front of his house. Your truck was still in the driveway. Steve went to the front door, while Danny went over to your truck. Steve was about to unlock the door when Danny called out to him.
“Steve, we have a problem.” Danny called out, causing Steve to look over at him. He was holding up your keys and phone.
Seeing him holding your keys and phone caused him to get a sinking feeling in his stomach.
-Abandoned Warehouse-
You were finally waking up. You were still groggy from whatever Wo Fat injected you with. You tried to move your arms and legs but quickly realized that you were tied to a chair. You looked up to see WoFat’s leaning up against a table.
“Look who finally decided to join me.”
“What do you want?” already annoyed with this.
“What? No hello. Straight to business.” He got up and started moving towards you. “Alright, I want to know where Shelburne is.” Coming to a stop right in front of you.
“Who?” You have no idea who that was.
“Shelburne.”
“I have no clue who you are talking about. Who the hell is Shelburne?”
“The person who killed my father! Don’t act dumb, where are they?!?” He was getting mad, he leaned down grabbing your wrists and part of the chair.
“I DON’T KNOW!”
WoFat’s obviously didn’t believe you. Next thing you know, you’re being slapped across the face.
“I know Steve knows. He would have told you about them. So where are they.” He was starring you down. “It only gets worse from here on out Y/n.”
“I DON’T FUCKING KNOW!”
“Fine. We will do this a different way.” He pulled your gun off the table. He pointed it dead center of your forehead. When you didn’t flinch, he moved it off to the side and shot off a round. Again, you didn’t flinch. You just looked more annoyed than before.
“You realize I have to write a report on every bullet fired from my service weapon.”
“I just pointed a gun at your head, and you’re worried about paperwork? You do realize I can just shoot you.”
“I’m not afraid to die. I know what I was getting myself into when I became a cop. Hey if you shoot me, I don’t have to do any paperwork. Just so you know if you do shoot me. 5-0 will be on your ass like white on rice.” At this point you were leaning forward to get as close to his face as you possible could.
“wow, you are a special kind of stupid. Aren’t you?” He raised your gun just enough to shoot you in the leg.
“UGH! Son of a Bitch!”
-McGarrett Residence-
Steve had called the team. They showed up a few minutes later.
“The house is secure, but I found boot prints on the side of the house.” Chin came up to the rest of the group.
“I found a couple of cigarettes over by those trees and bushes.” Kono held up an evidence bag before handing it off to one of the techs for DNA testing.
“Have you checked your security cameras yet?” Danny said as he pointed to the camera above the garage. It looked like it had been shot.
“Kono do you have a laptop?”
“Yea.” She went towards her car, everyone followed close behind.
Steve pulled up his security system up on the laptop. He went back to the time that he left. He looked at the back cameras first. He saw a man looking in the back windows but couldn’t see his face. Then he went to the front cameras. You were coming out of the house and going to your truck. when a man lunged at you, and you fought back. Then a second man came out and stabbed you in the neck. He began yelling at the first man. He got up off the ground and called someone. A car pulled up seconds later. The first man proceeded to pick you up and put you in the trunk of the car. This is when the second man turned to the camera, wave and shoot.
“Wait, is that…” Danny started to talk but Steve cut him off.
“Wo Fat.” Steve looked frustrated and had to walk away. He ran his hands down his face to try and compose himself. Danny was instantly by his side.
“Hey, we are going to find her.”
“Kono is there any way to we can see who the other guy is?” Lou asked to get thing moving along. Kono was instantly on the computer looking for a good image. When she found one, she put it through facial rec.
“Got him. This is Kehlani Koa. He has a wrap-sheet a mile long. Burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, car jackings to name a few.”
“Are you able to get a plate on that car?”
“No, the car wasn’t turned enough for that.”
Steve came back over, “you got an address for this guy?”
“Yea, already sent to your phones.”
“I want this guy alive.” He looked around at the team. He had anger and frustration in his eyes. “Danny let’s go.”
-Warehouse-
“You Son of a Bitch!” Now you were pissed off. “What’s wrong with you!? Were you not held enough as a child? What could have caused you to be so psychotic!?”
“If you would stop with the sarcastic comments and tell me what I want to know…” you cut him off.
“Well since you apparently are hard of hearing let me say it again.” You cleared your throat. “I don’t know who the fuck Shelburne is, You Dumbass! I can’t give you information that I don’t know jack shit about! Then again I wouldn’t give it to you if I did know.” You whispered that last part so he couldn’t hear you.
He pulled out a knife and he stabbed you in the thigh. Lucky for you he missed the femoral artery. You tried so har not to scream and give him the satisfaction. Then WoFat’s phone went off, he pulled it out of his pocket and left the room.
“Holy Shit that hurts!”
You start to move your arms to see if there was any wiggle room with the ropes. There was little, but it was just enough. You know you must get out of here. You slowly start to move your arms around to get the rope over your hand. Eventually getting them free. Then you quickly untied the other hand, before moving to your leg that didn’t have a knife sticking out of it. you worked as fast as you could while being careful to get the second leg free. You know that if you pull out the knife, you will bleed out eventually and risking it would be dangerous.
You slowly got up, trying not to touch the knife and not to jostle the leg with a the gsw. You couldn’t put a lot of weight on either leg. You ended up sitting back down. You ripped strips off your overshirt and tied them around the bullet hole as tight as you could. You start thinking again. You ripped off a few more strips of your shirt. You put them under your leg with the knife, making sure they make an x in the back.
“This is so stupid.” You said to yourself ad you reach for the knife. You pull it out while trying not to make a sound. Then you tie the strips over the knife opening. You have lost quite a bit of blood, but your adrenaline was still going. Not knowing how much longer it was going to be around you knew you must move. You get up again. Knife in hand and slowly start making your way to a different door than the one Wo Fat went out of.
-Koa Residence-
Unfortunately, when Steve and Danny got to the house Kehlani was already dead. They started searching the house. When Danny got to one of the back rooms, he found photos of Steve and Y/n all over the walls. There were maps with different locations that corresponded with some of the photos.
“Hey Steve! I found something!”
Steve came into the room and paused when he saw all the things on the walls. The others were right behind him as he walked into the room.
“He was following you guys.” Danny said as he was looking over all the information on the wall in front of him.
“No. He was following Y/n. Come look at this.” Chin said from a different wall. “This is all her. Driving, shopping, surfing and her just hanging out on the beach.”
“This is so creepy.” Kono said as she walked to a new area. She found papers on imports and exports, various warehouses and random places around the island.
“So what? Wo Fat hires this guy to watch Y/n, kidnap her then what? He ends up dead here. What’s the endgame here?” He turns to everyone to see if anyone has anything that makes any sense. “Why would he want Y/n?”
Everyone just kept going through all the papers in the room. There was so much of it that it was hard to make sense of any of it. Lou went to the closet. When he opened it, he found a large map on the back wall. It had a bunch of “Xs” in different areas. There were also a few circles with addresses as well.
“I got something.” He pulled the map off the wall. He brought it out and places it on the desk in the middle of the room.
“Does anyone know what these are circling?” Everyone started looking closely at the map to try and figure out what they were.
“This one is HQ.” Chin pointed to one of the circles.
“That’s my house.” Steve pointed to another.
Kono was on her phone typing away at the other addresses.
“This one is Y/n’s old apartment complex. This one is a bank, and that one is Kamakonas’.”
“These are probably all the places that she was at the most. This is how he followed her around the island.” Steve was starting to get even more and more uncomfortable the longer they were in the room.
“What about the group of X’s over here?”
“They look like a bunch of old abandoned warehouses.”
“About how many are there?”
“Maybe 10 to 15.”
“That’s too many to search. Call Catherine and see if she can get a drone or satellite footage in the area. I want to know if anything is going on down there now.” Chin went off to the side and called Catherine.
Steve looked over to the window to see a man standing in the backyard. He was on the phone. Once he saw Steve, he took off running. Steve ran over to the window, pulling it open to jump out to run after him. Danny followed close behind.
The man ran through yards and alleyways. Steve was able to catch him when he tried to climb a 6ft fence. Steve grabbed him and slammed him to the ground. Then pulled out his gun and pointing it at him.
“Where is she?!” Steve wasn’t wasting any time.
The man stayed quiet and just stared at Steve.
Steve pulled this guy up by the collar of his shirt and slammed him against the wall. “I don’t make me ask again! Where is Y/n!?” He cocked his gun, that’s when Danny stepped in.
“Steve, you shoot him. We won’t find her. We need him to tell us where she is.” He turned his attention to the suspect. “If you don’t tell him where she is, he’s going to make you regret is. He’s a lunatic and will do what ever it takes to get her back. Now, where is she?”
-Warehouse-
You made it out of the warehouse without being seen. You needed to find out where you were. You start looking around to see if you can recognize anything. All you see is the shoreline, warehouses, shipping containers and the jungle.
Trying to swim is probably the worst idea. Bleeding in the ocean, with sharks is a no go. They would get you before you could get anywhere. Heading towards the warehouses and shipping containers seems like the most logical way to go. Try and find a vehicle, but there are way too many nooks and crannies for people to be hiding. Also, it would be too much noise if you did find a vehicle.
So, at this point your best bet would be the jungle. You could go until you don’t see the buildings anymore. Become Katniss Everdeen and climb a tree to hide out on.
Before you had the chance to really make up you mind, you heard yelling and banging coming from the building behind you. As quickly as you could you start running towards the jungle. You got about 30ft in front of the tree line before you heard a gun going off.
You ducked down and looked back to see Wo Fat coming towards you. You get up and continue running.  He kept shooting at you. After a little bit he had stopped shooting. You stopped running. You decided now you needed to get off the ground, you made sure to look to see if Wo Fat was around. When the coast was clear you found a tree and started climbing. It hurt like a bitch to climb but you had to do it.
You were able to get up into the tree, you made sure that your legs laid along one of the tree branches. Now you had to stay quiet and not move. Which was more difficult that you have anticipated, but you made it work.
After a while, you saw the sun was starting to go down. The adrenaline that you once had was long gone. The pain had come back with a vengeance. Now you were starting to get tired. You had to fight to keep your eyes open. You just needed to wait a little longer. At this point you knew Steve and the rest of the team were looking for you. You just had to hold out until thy got here.
Just as your eyes were closing again. You heard voices and gun shots, coming from behind you, back towards the building.
“This is it.” you said to yourself. You gripped the knife a little tighter. It was your lifeline.
-The Team-
Steve’s phone started going off, Kono’s name popped up on the screen. He quickly answered it.
“Go ahead.”
“Catherine said there are men in the area. There was a gunshot that went off a few minutes ago. Chin is still on the phone with her… What?”
Kono started talking to Chin. She must have pulled her phone away from her ear because Steve couldn’t understand what she was saying.
“Kono what’s going on? Kono!”
“Steve It’s Y/n. Catherine found her. We need to go now.”
“We are coming back now. Kono I need you to take this guy back to the palace. Put him in a cell and meet us there. Send everyone else to the warehouses.”
Steve and Danny got the man back to the house and into Kono’s car, she left quickly. Everyone else was already on their way to the warehouses. Steve and Danny got into Danny’s car and took off. Steve was driving way too fast.
“Steve, I understand that you want to get to Y/n but you can’t do that if you’re dead.”
“We aren’t going to die Danny.”
“Driving like this we might. I want to be able to go home to my daughter. So Slow Down!”
Steve slowed down just enough to please Danny but still fast enough to feel like he would get to you in time.
After arriving at the warehouses, everyone split up, to search all the rooms. Once one building was done they moved on to the next. Steve and Danny showed up when they were down to 5 buildings left. They jumped in and started searching with the rest of the crew.
When they got to the last building there was guards around it and on the 1st floor. One by one they were taken down. Each one of the guys took a room. They were all coming up clear until Chin yelled for Steve.
Steve entered the room Chin was in and saw a table with your empty holster, a knife and your wallet. Then he saw the chair that had rope on the ground next to it in a puddle of blood. He could only assume it was yours. There were shoe prints on the ground leading out one of the doors.
“Chin.” He pointed to the door, before they went to the door. Steve opened the door. He followed the trial of blood until it stopped. Danny and Lou had joined them at this point.
“Which way would she have gone?” Danny asked as they were looking around.
“I don’t know. Its obviously not back towards the buildings. We would have found her during the search.” Lou stated.
“She wouldn’t have tried to swim either. If she’s injured would be the worst thing to do.” Chin added.
“The jungle it is then.” Steve pointed and started walking that way.
The men started heading to the jungle. When they were about 15ft from the tree line, Steve spotted Wo Fat. Wo Fat started shooting and running. The guys quickly ran to the trees to get cover.
Steve ran after Wo Fat. He was able to sneak up on him. they started fighting. Steve was able to get the gun away from him. Steve was also able to pin him to the ground and cuff him. Then he flipped him over. Danny was there, he had his gun pointed at him. Steve stood up and pulled his gun out as well.
“Where is she?”
“I don’t know.” Wo Fat had no emotion on his face or in his voice.
“Where is Y/n!?” Steve was back down on his knees, with one had on Wo Fat’s shirt. Holding him slightly up off the ground.
“I don’t know, but I can’t imagine that she has much longer.” Now he had a sadistic smile on his face.
“Duke!” Steve yelled. Duke came over pretty quick. “Take Wo Fat, put him in one of the squad cars and watch him.” Steve turned back to Wo Fat. “She better be alive when I find her, or your dead.”
“Guys we don’t have much time. We don’t know how bad her injuries are. Everyone spread out. Find her.
---
You started hearing the voices get louder. Then you started seeing the lights of multiple flashlights.
“Damn it, Damn it.”
Then a man was walking past your hiding tree. You moved slightly trying to see who it was. When you did, the knife fell off your lap. It landed right next to him.
“Shit.” You said quietly to yourself.
The man quickly looked up, his gun and flashlight aimed at you.
“Y/n?”
“Chin! Thank God, sorry about the knife.” A sense of relief washed over you. you were finally able to relax.
Chin got on his coms, “I found her. She’s up in a tree.”
“And I will need help getting down.”
“And she’s going to need help getting down.” Chin let out a small chuckle.
The fire department had to bring in special equipment in to get you down. They couldn’t get their truck that far in. The paramedics were on the ground, ready to start working on you the second they got you down.
When you were on the stretcher, you had fallen asleep. The paramedics started working on you as fast as they could. They had to hurry and get iv’s set up to get blood and fluids back into you. they were also rushing to get you back to the truck, going quickly trying not to jostle you around too much.
Steve was by your side the entire time. When you guys were in the ambulance, he was holding your hand. He was also trying not to get in the paramedic’s way. On they way to the hospital your heart started slowing down, and eventually you had flatlined. The paramedic started CPR. Steve was still holding you hand but he had started talking to you.
“Y/n, I love you. Sweetheart please don’t leave me. You are so stubborn and strong, and you always fight back. Please fight. Please… Please…”
He was trying to keep his voice steady, but he was crying too much. His voice was shaky, and his breathing was off. He just kept saying “Please” to you. just before getting out of the ambulance he kissed your hand. When it was time to get out, the paramedic had to climb on the stretcher with you to keep doing compressions. Then you were wheeled into the hospital, Steve stayed with you as long as he could before a nurse stopped him and he had to let go of your hand.
The rest of the team came into the hospital shortly after. Steve immediately came over to them. Danny was the first one in. He brought Steve into a hug, and just held onto him.
“It going to be ok. She’s going to be okay.” Danny tried to calm him down.
“She flatlined Danny. She’s not okay.” He started crying harder.
Everyone was on the verge of tears at this point. Danny let Steve go and got him to sit down. All they could do now is wait.
-Hours Later-
The tears had stopped. Everyone was getting anxious. Steve and Danny had been taking turns going up to the nurses’ desk to ask what was happening or what was taking so long. They had gone up about 10 times in the last hour alone. They got the same answers every time. They didn’t know or you need to wait for the doctor.
Just as Danny was about to go try again, a doctor came out.
“Y/n Y/l/n’s Family?” Steve shot up and out of his seat and was in front of the doctor in a matter of seconds.
“Is she okay? Please tell me she’s okay.” Steve looked like he was on the verge of tears again. Everyone was standing around him waiting to hear what the doctor had to say.
“Yes. She’s going to be okay. We were able to get her heart going again. She’s out of surgery. The surgery went as well as can be, but…” Steve’s heart just about dropped when the doctor said “but”.
“But she may not have 100% function in her legs. Her injuries were extensive, and with her moving walking or running for as long as she did, caused more damage. I have explained all of this to her already. Now she’s resting.”
“Can we see her?” Danny spoke up, Steve was in a state of shock and he wasn’t saying anything.
“Of course, but only for a little while. She needs to rest.”
The doctor walked over to one of the nurses and asked her to take them back to see you. She knocked as she opened the door. “Y/n? You have a few visitors if you’re up for it.”
“okay.” Your voice was a little horse from the surgery.
Steve was the first one through the door and he was by your side. He leaned over and kissed you on the forehead. Then just left his forehead resting on yours. You reached your hand up and put it on the back of his neck, just holding him there. After a few moments just being like this, someone cleared their throat causing you to let go of Steve.
“How are you feeling?” Danny was the first to speak.
“Like I just got hit by a tank. ya’know the usual.” You gave all of them a small smile.
You guys talked for a few hours. You were simply happy to be back with them. You were a little worried about Steve though. He wasn’t talking very much he was just staring at you. You are about to start yawning but you try to hold it in. Kono noticed what you were doing so she decided it was time for them to go.
“Guys I think we should let her rest. She looks like she’s about to pass out.” Kono gave you a small smile before pushing all the boys except Steve out the door.
After they were gone, Steve pulled his chair closer to your bed. He grabbed ahold of your hand. You could tell that he was trying to hold back his emotions.
“Steve.”
“You died.” He was quiet. He wasn’t looking at you, he was staring at your hand. “You left me y/n. you can’t do that to me again. I won’t be able to handle that.” You saw tears starting to come down his cheek. You let go of his hand and he lifted his head up to look at you. when you saw his face, it just broke your heart. You quickly moved over and pulled him onto the bed to lay down next to you. after he laid down, he put his head on your chest. You pulled him as close as you possibly could. You didn’t even care about the small amount of pain going through your legs. He needed you. he may be a big, strong guy but even tough guys have bad days. This was his worst nightmare.
“Never again. I won’t leave you.” You kissed his forehead and started running your fingers through his hair. “I promise.”
You both fell asleep like this.
-A month later-
You had been working really hard to learn to walk again. You did physical therapy four times a week. That’s all the doctors would allow. You were able to walk for the most part but sometimes you needed assistance. The doctors were comfortable with sending you home early because of all of your progress.
You were already to go you were just waiting for Steve. He walked in with one of the nurses, pushing a wheelchair. You didn’t want to sit down but it was hospital policy.
After a quick ride home, you got out of Steve’s truck faster than you normally would have. You had gotten to the door before Steve was even able to get around his truck.
“Wait for me Y/n.” he jogged up to you. “Ya’know just because you can walk again doesn’t mean you have to practically run ahead of me.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just glad to be home, sleep in my own bed, have normal food and not having someone checking on me every two seconds.” You turned to him.
“well at least let me open the door for you.” He smiled at you, then moved in front to open the door.
You walked in and it was unusually dark. You walked to the light switches and flipped them on.
“SURPRISE!!” All of your friends were there.
“oh my gosh!”
“Welcome home!”
There were balloons, streamers and a giant “welcome home” sign. Everyone was blowing party whistles. Then Grace and Danny popped giant confetti cannons. They were all laughing and cheering. You realized Steve hadn’t walked in with you. You turned around and through all the confetti you see Steve down on one knee. Your eyes went wide, and your hands went up to your face.
“oh shit.”
“language y/n.” Danny said holding grace’s ears.
“Sorry.” You turned around briefly to apologize before looking back at Steve.
“Y/n, you have made me the luckiest man alive. As soon as you walked into my life, I understood why it didn’t work with anyone else. I could watch you for a single minute and find a thousand things that I love about you. I’m crazy in love with you. I want to be your protector and your provider, and I love you beyond all measure. I can guarantee if I don’t ask you to be mine, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life because I know in my heart, you’re the only one for me. Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
Steve stood up, you grabbed his face and kissed him. when you pulled away Steve slipped a ring on your finger. Everyone had started cheering again. They started coming over to you and Steve, to congratulate you. everyone was so happy.
After everyone left, you went up to Steve and wrapped your arms around him.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Mr. McGarrett.”
“I can’t wait either.” He kissed you again. “I love you Y/n.”
“I love you too Steve.”

The Broken Crown- Chapter 2
Summary: All Margaret Shelby ever wanted, was the opportunity to write her own story. Only now is she beginning to realize that her brother may have already written it for her...
Hello! Enjoy chapter 2!
OoOoOo
"Keep spendin' most our lives, Livin' in the gangsta's paradise,
Tell me why are we so blind to see,
That the ones we hurt, are you and me"
~Gangsters Paradise~
1919
"Mags." Was the first thing the young girl heard as she was gently shaken awake, "Go lay in your bed, eh?"
Upon half-opening her eyes, she saw it was Tommy who had been talking to her. Maggie only then realized she had fallen asleep sitting upright. She responded by rubbing her neck and slowly nodding. Clumsily she got off the bed with her journal in hand.
It was early. The exact time she wasn't sure, but sunlight wasn't streaming through the window yet. She entered the quiet hallway, navigating herself to her bedroom in the darkness. When she opened her door, she discovered a figure standing in the middle of the half-lit room changing clothes.
"There you are," Ada whispered out, shimming out of her slip, "Was wondering what happened to you."
"Slept in Tommy's room," She explained, yawning lightly. "Just get in? What time is it?"
Her sister nodded as she continued to change into a nightdress, slipping the fabric over her head. "It's just past four." She informed as the younger girl motioned her way around her sister to flop onto the bed, making it creak from the force of body weight.
"How was your night?" asked Maggie, moving to make her head more comfortable on the old shapeless pillow.
"Romantic." The older girl hummed, sliding into bed next to her sister. "I've never felt this way about anyone."
Maggie turned her body on her side. "Wish I could put a name and face to this mystery man." She watched her sister's eyes flash with guilt. At the realization of her thoughts were now said aloud, regret formed in the pit of Maggie’s stomach.
"I promise I'll tell you sooner than you think, I just-" Ada didn't have to finish the sentence for Maggie to understand what she was going to say: 'I just can't deal with our brothers if they find out '.
"I know Ada," was the last thing the sleepy girl said before closing her eyes and drifting back to sleep.
Eventually, she woke up again around seven in the morning. Carefully, she got out of bed trying not to wake up her sleeping sister, and dressed accordingly in one of Ada's old dresses. She also made sure to pack her journal into her book bag before making her way downstairs. Once in the kitchen, she saw Tommy reading the paper and Finn eating his breakfast.
"Morning." She said, grabbing a bowl and spoon to scoop mushy porridge out of a metal pot, which was sitting on top of the only working stove burner. Polly had most likely prepared it for them. "How did you sleep?"
Tommy knew that question was directed to him, "Better than I have in weeks." This made his sister smile as she sat down in the chair next to him. "Your writing has improved. But then again, I haven't heard you share your work since you were twelve. Pol says you won't even share with her or Ada. Why's that?" He was genuinely curious.
"I don't think it's ready to be shared yet," Maggie shrugged.
He peered at her as he set the paper down onto the table, "You shared last night."
"Only to put you to sleep." She countered, bringing the spoon to her mouth to consume the beige-colored substance.
"Going to have to sometime," he spoke sincerely. "How else are you going to become a writer, eh?"
He was right, she knew that, but right now, her writing felt sacred. As if her words were only meant for her. She was still coming face to face with a paradoxical problem. Every time she would write something down, it would instantly not be good enough. The pages of her journal seemed to have more scribbled-out lines than actual words. She just couldn't explain this feeling properly, and if she couldn't express her feelings in words, how could she write? No, sharing her words would only lead to not being understood. Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the opening and slamming of the front door.
"Tommy!" John angrily stormed into the kitchen, "It's Danny! Those fucking Wops got a hit on him."
Tommy answered back by pushing himself out of his chair and hurriedly following his brother out of the home. Finn quickly tried to follow, but Maggie grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, "Let go Mags!" he cried out.
Maggie sighed, "C'mon, let's get you ready for school." Finn could only respond with a groan, allowing his sister to lead him upstairs.
OoOoOo
The next day, a smiling Maggie was squished between John and Finn in the family car. She could barely move without hearing a complaint from John, but she didn't care, she was too excited. They were all on their way to the fair, which had been set up right outside of Birmingham. It had been so long since she had been to one. They were almost there, and she could see the big red and white striped tent peaking over the trees in the distance, so she was confused when Tommy parked the car in a clearing that was still a good distance away.
Arthur spoke up at once, "Thought you said we were going to the fair"
"Yeah, what are we doing?" She asked nervously, leaning her elbows against the front seat.
"We have business first. C'mon, bring your wits." Tommy said getting out of the car with John and Arthur following. He glanced over to his younger siblings noticing they were trying to do the same. " You and Finn stay by the car."
"Seriously?" She just wanted to have a normal day at the fair with her family. Was that too much to ask?
Tommy pointed at her to emphasize. "Stay by the car, Mags."
"What business?" Arthur questioned.
"That's the Lee family," She heard John say.
Great the Lees, thought Maggie sarcastically, as she sank into the seat. Though she did perk herself up when she saw a familiar face walking towards the car.
"Hi, Johnny!" She smiled and waved at the man.
"Well hello pretty lady," Johnny Dogs greeted as he approached the car. "Tell me, have you seen a lass named Maggie?" The teasing tone of his voice was prominent. He had not changed a bit in the four years his presence had been absent.
The girl giggled slightly at his antics, and with a playful air replied, "I'm Maggie."
"You canna be her." He overly acted out in disbelief, "Last time I saw her she was but a child!"
"Hang on a minute," They all heard Arthur say, "You're not swapping the family car for a bloody horse!"
Johnny turned around and quickly walked up to the oldest Shelby, "Of course we're not swapping it. Huh? That would be mad!"
"We're going to play two up," Tommy explained, handing a coin over to the family friend.
"Jesus." Arthur breathed out anxiously, as they all watched the pair toss their coins into the grass and lean forward to get a better view. Silently, Tommy handed over the keys to the car, much to the irritation of the eldest, "I knew it. Tommy, you bloody idiot!"
"Shut up Arthur. I won," Tommy told him, "I promised Johnny I'd let him have a spin in the car if he lost." He watched as the relief washed over his brother's face but was interrupted by collective snickering. He turned to the three men dangerously, "Are you Lee boys laughing at my brother? Are you? Eh? I asked you a question!"
"Tommy! Tommy, c'mon it's just a craic." Johnny reasoned, trying to keep everyone calm, "Get your family out of here and go enjoy yourselves at the fair before they start a war." Johnny then turned to the Lees, and Maggie was able to make out most of what he said. It had something to do about the grandfather she never met before one of the Lees replied, "Yeah, but his mother was a Diddicoy whore."
That had done it. Whipping his weaponized hat off of his head, Tommy slashed at the man's face. Arthur and John quickly joined in. Blood could be seen gushing from their faces as they all yelled obscenities at one another. Finn looked in awe at his brothers, his gaze never wavering from the fight, but Maggie felt sick.
OoOoOo
An hour later they had finally reached their original destination. Looking and walking around the fair was an amazing experience. The many rides, animals, oddities, and food all in one place were a wonderment to the many families that came out from all over the area. Yet, Maggie's level of enthusiasm was less than what Tommy had expected. She couldn't shut up most of the way there, now she was as silent as a stone.
"What's the matter with you, eh?" Tommy questioned as they walked around the fairgrounds together, "Did you want to take a spin on the big wheel ride?" He pointed up to the giant machine with carriages that slowly spun in circles.
She asked quietly, "Did you have to hurt them?" Sure, Maggie knew what her brothers did. She would be naive if she said she didn't, but she had never been a witness to it. The violence that she had often heard others speak of was now forever ingrained in her memory, becoming a standard for their future offenses. "The Lee's." She clarified although she was certain he knew what she was talking about.
"They were disrespecting us Mags," He explained as if she were younger than Finn. "You heard them."
Tommy had always tried to keep her in the dark about their business practices, which was easy when she was younger. Unlike Finn, she had always kept her nose in a book, never really paying attention to the transgressions of her siblings. But now she was beginning to notice and was starting to ask questions he'd rather not answer.
"You couldn't walk away?" Maggie inquired, looking towards anywhere but his face.
He remained silent for a moment before stiffly asking, "Do you want to get on the fucking wheel ride or not?" That was Tommy-ese for 'drop it', so she did, and added herself to the growing line. Tommy followed her lead, standing behind her he pulled a cigarette out to smoke as they waited.
Maggie was quiet the entire duration of the drive back home. The setting sun rays peeked through the gray smog as they entered Small Heath, they all noticed the place had been trashed. Broken and ripped furniture looked like they were just tossed in the streets and all those who watched the Shelby car roll slowly down the street managed to give them all a dirty look.
Arthur was the first to speak up, "Now, what the bloody hells been going on here?"
OoOoOo
Apparently, from what she gathered it had been the new copper that had been behind the trashing of their neighborhood. Maggie and Cara walked through the crowd, as they recounted the events of each other's day. Thankfully the Ryans dress shop had been spared from the destruction and Maggie told her friend everything about the fair, excluding the violent beginning of course. In front of them stood a pile of portraits that had been gathered from around all the homes and businesses of the community. Once they were lit on fire, familiar faces were lit up as well to contrast the darkness. They both soon saw Ross with a crowd of men, most likely coworkers from the BSA. Once he saw them, he waved them off and began moving toward the girls.
"Are you ever going to tell him?" Maggie asked her friend, as they watched the young man weaving his way through the crowd of people.
"I will!" Cara defended before adding, "Eventually." Maggie tried to hide her smile.
"All right ladies?" Ross greeted once he was near enough.
"So, what's all this about then?" Cara questioned somewhat flirtatiously, pointing at the heap of portraits.
"Ask Mags," Ross replied, sending the dark-haired girl a smirk, "It's her brothers that have organized all this, went 'round taking everyone's pictures."
"Oh right, because they run everything by me first." she joked, causing both her friends to chuckle. Cara soon took over in leading the conversation, but Maggie was only half paying attention. Curiously, she watched as Tommy spoke with a man that she had never seen before. He must have felt her gaze because he found her face in the crowd, causing Maggie to quickly divert her stare off her brother. Ross then pulled out a flask from a pocket inside his dark coat.
"Care for a swig?" He asked them, shaking the container slightly. Drinking alcohol was something she had never really made into a habit, for her it was only for special occasions. Without hesitation, Cara took the silver flask from his hand and drank a few gulps before passing it on to Maggie. Maggie glanced back to her brother, who was no longer watching her, but instead had gone back to his discussion with the man who was now writing something down on a pad of paper.
She grabbed the small open bottle in her hand and raised it to her friends, "Cheers." The liquid burned in her mouth, but she forced herself to swallow. She coughed at the sensation, making Cara laugh as she took the flask back in her hand, downing what was inside again. The small group of friends joked and drank for the next hour or so, as the flames of the bonfire created a comforting warmth over the burning expressionless eyes of his majesty the king.
OoOoOo
After drinking so much during the bonfire, Cara must not have been feeling too well because she didn't show up to school the next day. Not only that, but it also seemed as though Finn decided to skip again. So unfortunately for Maggie, she was fated to walk home alone. Slung over her shoulder was her book bag which carried a few books, pens, and her journal. As she walked past the first alleyway, she felt a presence quickly appear next to her.
"In need of some company?" Ross asked, tossing his finished cigarette onto the pavement.
"That would be nice." She smiled up at his tall frame, which had a good five inches on her.
He motioned to the bookbag that rested on her shoulder, "Let me help with that."
"I can carry it myself." She calmly asserted, which made the young man grin.
"Now how would it look to all these people around us if I didn't help you with that, Hm?" He waved his index finger around to point at various people going about their day, "Word will get back to my mum, and she'd beat me for not being the gallant gentleman she raised. And you'd be responsible for that. I'm only trying to save you from a guilty conscience later on."
She supposed she shouldn't let that happen. With a small smile, she passed the bag to him which he took gladly.
"Last night was fun, eh?" He continued, slinging her bag over his shoulder.
"It was," she replied, allowing her mind to wander through the fresh memories. "Though I think Cara had too much fun."
"Sounds like her," he snickered out, "Never scared of fun."
"What else do you think about her?" The dark-haired girl pressed.
"Who, Cara?" He asked and Maggie nodded. "I dunno." He shrugged, adding, "Nice I suppose."
"Oh c'mon, you have to see the way she looks at you" Maggie alluded.
"Never noticed." He admitted, looking uncomfortable.
She knew she couldn't push the matter any further than that. It was time to change the subject, "How's work?"
"Factory is on strike again." He answered her, appearing more relaxed, "Freddie thinks we should be compensated more. Guess we'd need that in order to make up for the wages we've lost."
She couldn't stop herself from rolling her eyes. Of course, Freddy had something to do with this. Though she always admired her brothers' old friend for sticking to his beliefs, she silently judged anyone whose beliefs ranged on the spectrum of radical. "Freddie needs to be more careful. As do you, he's going to get everyone in some serious trouble."
He smiled at her worried words, "He'll be fine. I heard from other workers that he skipped town after the raid. As for me, I think that a bit of trouble is the only way to get what you want."
They had just turned onto Watery Lane, their pace began to slow until they eventually stopped just across the street from the front door of her home. "You didn't have to walk me all the way home, you know," she told him as he handed her book bag back.
His hazel eyes meet her blue ones, "I'd do anything for you, Margaret," he declared seriously. She couldn't help but think that there was a hidden meaning in his words. Was she reading too much into this? He must have meant that as her friend, right?
"I-," she started.
"Maggie!" Tommy's voice rang out.
Maggie turned her head to see her brother as he made his way toward them. The girl's heart clenched at the thought of what he was going to do. Her mind had quickly jumped back to the memory of yesterday, the slashing, the anger, the blood. She glanced over to Ross, whose expression went from nervous to stoic in a matter of seconds.
"Go inside," Tommy instructed once he stood close enough to the two teens.
"But-"
"Now Mags," he commanded with a low voice. Coolly, Tommy took a drag from his cigarette that was resting in between his fingers, not taking his eyes off Ross.
With a huff and a final look towards her friend, Maggie bid him farewell before swiftly walking toward the front door of her family home. Once the dark-haired girl was out of earshot Ross apprehensively spoke, "Mr. Shelby I- I was just walking her home, I wasn't trying to-"
"I know Ross," Tommy assured the anxious young man, tossing his finished cigarette to the ground. Pol had told him that the young Murray lad had helped look after his sister while he and his brothers were away in France. Had even heard a rumor amongst some of the younger men in the betting shop that he knocked the shit out of another boy who was sniffing around Margaret. If that was true, Tommy felt indebted. He was a busy man, so he cut to the chase, "You beat a bloke that was giving Maggie trouble?"
Ross modestly nodded at his question. "You're a good lad." The gangster commended, passing the young man one of his cigarettes from its silver metal casing. He also lit a match to assist him with lighting it. "Is your Uncle Ian still living in Dublin?"
Ross had to admit, he wasn't expecting the line of questioning to head in this direction. Nevertheless, he nodded once again, removing the rolled tobacco from his lips to allow a puff of smoke to escape from his lungs. The young man's confusion ceased when he watched Tommy pull out two pounds sterling from his pocket. Ross’s eyes couldn't help but widen at the act.
"Good, I want you to do me a favor. Call him and tell him to ask around all the local pubs in town if they know anything about a barmaid named Grace Burgess." As much as Tommy wanted to say he didn't care about this new woman who had found herself working at The Garrison, he needed to know exactly where she came from and if she was telling the truth. Digging out another pound he said, "Here send this to your uncle too."
"I will Mr. Shelby," he assured, accepting the coins in his outreached hand.
Tommy turned away and began walking toward his home, without looking back he added, "Welcome to the Peaky Blinders, Ross."
OoOoOo
When Maggie entered her home, she found Polly sitting in the kitchen reading a newspaper and drinking tea. "Hello, love. How was school?"
"Fine." She replied curtly, dropping her book bag onto the floor beside the table. She immediately moved to the window, looking out just in time to see Tommy lighting a cigarette for Ross. Relief washed over Maggie, this conversation thankfully seemed as though it wouldn't involve fists... or razor blades.
Polly's eyes were now on her, "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing." Maggie tore herself away from the window to sit down opposite her aunt, pulling out her journal and pen from the book bag next to her feet. Tommy ended up entering the kitchen not two minutes later.
"I hope you didn't tell my friend that you'd hurt him." Maggie told her brother much more boldly than she felt, "He was just being kind."
He stared at her for a moment before replying knowingly, "Now why would I hurt my newest recruit." With that, he exited into the betting shop closing the doors behind him. She gapped, still looking at the shut doors trying to process how Tommy could ever involve her friend in whatever schemes he was engaging in.
Her emotions must have shown all over her face because her aunt chuckled slightly. "I wouldn't worry too much about your friend," Polly told her eyes still on the black and white paper. But Maggie couldn't stop herself from slumping into the old wooden chair before she continued writing, ultimately stopping when she felt her sister's presence enter the room.
"Good of you to join us," Polly said to Ada from behind her newspaper. "Where have you been all day?
"In bed," Ada replied. "Couldn't sleep, then I couldn't wake up, then I was cold, and then I had to go for a wee. Then I was with this bear on a boat, but that was just a dream, then I was hungry." Maggie looked up from her journal once again to see that Ada took the empty seat between her and their aunt with a massive slice of bread with a jar of jam in hand.
Maggie looked pointedly at the last of the bread that she had made recently, "Jesus Ada, save some food for the rest of us."
Ada stuck her tongue out, before looking at her aunt, "Why are you reading the paper?" Ada inquired.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Polly questioned back, picking up her teacup.
"I've never seen you read the paper. I've only ever seen you light fires with them." The older Shelby sister continued, taking a bite of her food.
"BSA is on strike" Polly explained, "The miners are on strike. IRA are killing our boys, ten a day." Though when Polly stopped talking, she continued to stare at Ada eating.
The older girl soon noticed her aunt's gaze. "What?" She asked in between her chewing.
"Stand up," Polly commanded.
"Why?" Ada questioned.
"Just stand up," Polly ordered standing up herself, eventually Ada compiled, "Side on," Polly added and Ada motioned her body to face to the side. Maggie was taken aback when Polly suddenly cupped one of her sisters' breasts.
Though Ada was much more reactionary, "What are you doing?!"
"Ada, how late are you?" Polly asked seriously and Maggie couldn't stop her mouth as it fell open slightly.
"One week." Not too bad, Maggie thought. "Five weeks," Ada amended. It wasn't ideal, but maybe she was due any day now. "Seven, if you count weekends." The girl corrected herself once again.
"Holy Fuck, "Maggie shook her head in disbelief.
Ada seemed desperate for this not to be the reality, "I think it's a lack of iron. I got some tablets." She explained to them, as Polly sat back down in her chair.
"But they didn't work." Their aunt concluded.
Ada too sat back down, "No."
Maggie gulped at her sister's answer and looked to her aunt, watching Polly as she took a deep breath. The thought process could not be seen on her face, but the young girls knew that the situation was being meticulously addressed in her mind. "Get dressed. We're going to the midwife. Let's just make sure you are before anyone makes any rash decisions."
Ada nodded, holding back the tears that threatened to spill over. Maggie's heart clenched, and moved her hand over her sisters, squeezing it slightly. Whatever was to come, they would weather through it together.

{ Chapter 10 }
Summary: Vladimir Masters’ family tree has always been tainted by secrets swept under the rug. From generation to generation there have been countless reasons the Masters’ family had seemed to keep private from the public. Even to this day, Vladimir was no exception. But what was one to do when a restless spirit from the settlement years finally breaks free from restraints and demands you answer for your ancestor’s crimes? Vladimir doesn’t know. However, Clockworks does.
Notes: We just having fun, rewriting some of the canon, new adventure new characters. I will apologize now for any grammar, spelling, weird sentence structuring in advance. My brain writes faster than my fingers and even when I go back through to reread it I still miss things. Sorry about that!
Word Count: 5086
P.s: I feel like this chapter is shit :/ but we honestly have to keep going!!
Danny could feel it, Sam could feel it because Danny could feel it, and Tucker could only feel it because Sam told him via passing a note. Something was wrong or something was going to be wrong. Danny had kept it to himself all morning up until lunch. The annoying feeling like he should probably skip class and fly around to make sure everything was okay itched away at the back of his head.
“Okay so lemme get this straight, Vlad is currently keeping a ghost at his house that Clockwork told him was coming to haunt him from the past. He has to deal with it or something bad will happen in the future?” Sam recapped and Danny only nodded as he bit into his sandwich.
“Not gonna lie Vlad did give off that energy his family owned slaves,” Tucker muttered and Sam kicked him under the table. “What?! Come on I mean....come on.”
“I said the same thing Tuck,” Danny chuckled and rested his face in his palm. “But he insisted they didn’t and this ghost was purely a paid-ish servant. But whatever, she’s here and lemme tell ya she’s got this crazy power that changes your emotions. Yesterday after finally getting her down I almost punched Vlad for breathing.”
“You should have done it anyway and played it off.” Sam smirked and poked at her salad. “I still don’t like the guy.” She sighed and pushed her food away, not really feeling hungry.
“I don’t blame you, but I assure you he’s not the same person anymore. Same antics but now in an Addams family uncle way. Plus Dani and him playhouse and I think that actually made him become better. We haven’t fought in almost two years so I say that adds up to something.” Danny smiled and Sam only nodded along and shrugged. Danny knew it would take Sam a few more years to wrap her head around Vlad actually laying off and doing something else with his life. Hell, it took Danny by surprise when everything suddenly took a turn and both of them were outed out as halfas.
Danny actually felt like he had a friend to help take the blow with when it came to explaining to his parents about everything. Vlad had stood as his rock and that was enough for Danny to consider Vlad really was changing. Guess he finally grew up. Danny chuckled at his own joke then turned to Tucker. Tucker was a lot more laid back about the whole thing, of course, he was also ready to throw down if Vlad tried his shit, but if Danny felt safe, so did he. But it’s always been like that and that's why they got in trouble the most and Sam was the brains of the group.
“I just have a bad feeling.” Danny turned away from his friends and looked around them. Danny tried to single out if the feeling was coming from any of his peers. High school was filled to the brim with overly emotional teenage hormones that rubbed off on each other. Maybe Danny picked up some cheerleaders' manic panic feelings when he walked past them this morning. Or maybe it was the game club’s mourning from their loss last week, Danny understood that especially when he and his friends lost their games. “But it's not a ‘Vlad’s planning something dangerous’ bad, just an ‘oh no’ bad.” Danny sighed and ruffled his own hair to distract himself. He was tired and stressed out about school and life in general, he didn’t need anything else, mudding up the last of his managing teenage mind. Sam was quick to change the topic to something more fun and Tucker quickly took the chance to show off a new feature he tweaked on his phone.
Danny only half listened as he continued to watch people and drown out from the rest of the world. That was quickly cut short when a fire truck raced quickly past the school and busted left down an avenue and headed off into the distance.
“Who sets stuff on fire at 11:30 in the morning?” Sam snickered.
“It’s almost 12, they waited long enough,” Tucker added which made the girl laugh and Danny nodded with a smile. Danny was about to make the following joke but his phone dinged with a message. He pulled it out and his face nearly turned white as he saw it was Dani.
Phantom 2: Fire Truck just shot past me and their heading towards dad’s
Phantom 1: Shouldn’t you be in class...
Phantom 2: Wrong response…...FIRETRUCK HEADING TO MASTERS HOUSE!
Danny slammed his phone down and grabbed the sides of his head. His friend's small conversation was brought to a halt and they looked at him. Danny groaned and stood up and one command so did Sam and Tucker to do what they did best and cover Danny so he could transform and take off. They were seniors and yet the ol’ ‘cover me guys’ was still strong in their blood.
“Be back before last period or Lancer will be on your ass.” Tucker winked and Danny rolled his eyes before turning invisible and taking off. His friends couldn’t see him but they could take a guess which way he was going. Tucker turned to Sam and hummed before putting his hands on his hips.
“Should we follow him?” The geek asked the goth.
“You just don’t wanna present in Econ next period.” Sam rolled her eyes and sat back down at the table, now feeling the urge to finish her salad.
“You do most of the talking anyway, I’m just there to flip the slides.” Tucker shot Sam finger guns and the girl only smirked and shook her head.
It took Danny no time to make it to Vlad’s home and see two windows had been blown out on the top floor and pink and purple smoke mixed together piling high into the air. Neighbours on either side of Vlad were out of their house and watching in worry. Danny could hear the firetruck getting close. Danny began to cough as the smoke got into his lung, he lowered himself and quickly shot inside the house to see what was going on. When he landed in the bedroom hallway and quickly started to check the rooms. When he got to the end of the hallway he saw the anti ghost bars were turned off and Tayonna was gone. There was a fire in her room and busted windows.
“Oh shit,” Danny whispered then felt the floor rumble from below. He sank through the floor and was almost hit with a pink blast. Danny barely missed it as it flew past his head and quickly dove down to the floor. He turned visible and made cover as another blast flew over his head. Danny looked up from the floor and saw Plasmius dodging another attack and Tayonna still in her human form standing firm on the ground. Tayonna held purple flames in the palm of her hands and a giant ring of flames surrounding her.
“Tayonna stand down!” Plasmius yelled and fired a fireball towards Tayonna who reflected it with one of her own.
“You no longer tell me what to do Vladan!” Tayonna rose her hands towards the air and conquered three ectoblast that was set ablaze
“For the last time, my name isn’t Vladan!” Plasmius yelled and blasted one of the fireballs Tayonna held steady. Danny could tell Vlad was slowly reaching his limit of tolerance. It was likely Tayonna tried her mind junk on the man and it backfired terribly. Tayonna threw down her hands to send off the last two she had. Plamsius shot down the second one then took hold of the last one and threw it back. Tayonna wasn’t prepared for the returning attack and it hit her in the chest, sending her falling to the floor. The girl groaned and tried to push herself to the side to get back up but Plasmius shot at her again.
Tayonna must have sensed it and threw her arm back to create a line of fire around her to stop the blow. She slowly stood up and stepped back before doing a digging motion that created lines of electricity to shoot across the floor and upward to where Plasmius stood. Being as fast as the older ghost was, he simply teleported away before any of the bolts could hit him. He teleported right in front of the girl ready to shoot her back but Tayonna was faster and like a glitch she was inches away from him, placing both of her hands on his chest and with full strength shot him back with purple static.
The cry of plain Plasmius let out told Danny that the attack was more than he was ready for. Plasmius was slammed against the door and Dany was happy he didn’t go through it. Tayonna began to float into the air doing the blurry ghostly movements Danny saw at the pond. Danny thought quickly and reached for the thermos, he was so happy he always kept that bad boy strapped, and unclasped it and sucked Tayonna in. The girl turned at the feeling of being pulled and let out a horrendous scream as she was dragged into the dark void. Within seconds she was sucked in and Danny was making sure the lid was on as tight as it could go. Danny quickly hurried over to Plasmius as the older halfa pulled himself from the door and rolled to his knees. The same creepy red mist fell out of Vlad’s mouth and the man let out an ugly fit of coughs.
“What the hell happened?!” Danny didn’t mean to raise his voice but in a fit of panic it did and Plasmius only groaned and pushed himself up by a knee. Once standing Plasmius turned back into Vlad and the older man couldn’t help but clench his chest. “How did she get out? Who let her out? Vlad, you didn’t let her out, did you? Why would you-”
“Shut up!” Vlad yelled and pushed the boy away in annoyance. “Get out of here before they break down my door and see you.” Vlad turned away from Danny and tried to look less in pain than he already was. Danny frowned and grumbled about Vlad being a dick and shoved the thermos towards Vlad. At first, the man was confused but took it anyway before turning another cold shoulder to Danny.
“You have to answer me later!” Danny yelled before shooting through the roof and up into the sky. The firefighters had just broken down the door and neighbours were gasping as they saw Vlad being pulled out of the house. Danny stayed a while to make sure nothing else crazy happened before he heard the sound of his phone ding. It was Sam telling him to hurry up, last period was in 20 minutes. Danny shoved his phone in his pocket and rocketed back towards his school. He knew he would have to come up with some other ghost fighting excuse for why he missed two periods when he got home. Danny told himself he needed a break. He needed a break so he could make it to graduation and to sweet sweet summer break.
Danny was already checking his phone for a news update for the incident at Vlad’s house. But there was nothing. Surely the people of Amity would know if their former mayor’s house went up in flames. It surely knew when Vlad’s ass was all over the news. Danny told Sam and Tucker he wouldn’t be walking home with them but to make sure Dani got home safe. When he got out of school he still had to serve a hour long detention from Lancer for something he already forgot about. Danny made his way through the air to Vlad’s to check up and see what happened after he left.
Danny stood right outside the house invisible, everything was quiet, the smoke from the upstairs windows was gone. When Danny made it up to the front door he noticed it was no longer busted off the lock. It was fixed as if the events of today didn’t even happen. Danny ghosted inside and gasped, the whole foyer was cleaned and just as fancy as it was when Vlad first moved to town. Danny could see his reflection in the marble floor which he couldn’t the day before. Danny flew upstairs and even the stairs had been clean.
“Vlad?” Danny called out hoping that maybe the older halfa would be lurking around. Danny poked his head through a few doors and saw no sign that Vlad could even be home. He got to the bedrooms and checked those and still no Vlad to be found. Danny did notice however the guest room Tayonna was in was cleaned and the windows were brand new. Danny poked his head into the room but didn’t sense anything, not even Tayonna’s ungodly emotional pulls.
Danny looked around once more just to double check himself but no one seemed to be home. He was about to give up and fly home until he heard the sound of stuff slamming coming from below. Danny moved with caution as he went to Vlad's basement. Down below Vlad sat at a worn down chair tapping away at a computer with the thermos next to him. Ghost scattered around the place rebuilding screens and some of the portal that was broken by Tayonna. Danny landed on his feet and quickly ducked as a ghost flew over him with a monitor in hand.
“Good to see you back, little badger,” Vlad called over his shoulder as he continued to type away.
“How did you-”
“Simple,” Vlad spun around and leaned back in his chair. Danny’s face turned to confusion before he narrowed his eyes and shook his head. As long as it wasn’t actually hurting anyone Danny could turn a blind eye to it. “After I got everyone to leave and nearly all the news anchors to pretend they never had a story. I had to get the place fixed up and I really didn’t feel like calling anyone. Besides, we have wonderful handymen in the Ghost Zone.” Vlad didn’t seem to be in the ugly mood he was in earlier, Danny could see in his eyes there were still traces of annoyance and maybe the typical Vladness, but not anger. It almost seemed like Vlad was in a better mood and Danny wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or if he could quickly punch the man to double check.
“Has she been in there the whole time?” Danny pointed over to his thermos and Vlad sighed and nodded.
“I wasn’t letting her out again.” The man grumbled and spun back around towards the computer.
“Again? So you did let her out.” Danny walked closer and picked up the thermos making sure Vlad hadn’t started poking at it. Vlad ran a hand over his hair and nodded looking almost ashamed he had to admit he caused the problem.
“I was curious of how far her mimicking powers could go and as soon as I asked-”
“Seems more like you to command than ask.” Danny corrected.
“As I asked her to do it again she refused, then the red mist showed up and jumped down my throat and before I knew it I was reaching out towards her and grabbed her arm. Then of course you showed up and saw where that led us.” Vlad rubbed his throat a bit then cleared it. A bit more of the mist flew from his mouth and Vlad waved it away angrily. “Blasted thing.”
“Is this mist also a ghost?” Danny tried to sense if the mist was around or not. It seemed like it was gone at the moment and Danny sighed. Danny knew whatever it was that now clung to Vlad like Tayonna had an important role in this mess as well.
“I don’t believe it’s a ghost. It’s more so like dead ghost memories that follow her. It could be what makes her restless and has manifested into a physical form.” Vlad rubbed his chin and held out his hand for the thermos. Danny was slow on handing it over but finally caved. Vlad was about to untwist the top but Danny quickly shot out his hands and stopped him.
“Whoa, what are you doing?! She almost set your place on fire and now you're gonna let her out, again?” Vlad quickly snatched the gadget away from the boy and pointed behind him. Danny turned his head and saw a ghost trap on the floor already set up and ready to go. Danny hadn’t realized that he almost stepped in it. Would have been great if Vlad had just said to move out the way or something.
“She’s not going to cause any more trouble once I get this on her.” Vlad reached over and pulled the drawer open and pulled out a collar.
“So you’re gonna do the collar thing again, that’s totally gonna get her on your side.” Danny crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. He couldn’t help the faint sting and itch around his neck as memories of being in the collar himself flashed through his head. Danny should have known Vlad would keep the damn thing even after Danny broke it.
“I defused the shocking system, all it will do is make her as powerless as possible. That means even her emotional mind games. She will be as human as she’s pretending to be.” Vlad handed Danny the collar to hold as he fiddled with the thermos to get it open. Danny eyed the thing and repeated Vlad’s words in his head. And with three easy seconds, he had a monkey brain moment and snapped the thing around his neck. Danny felt his powers get pulled back inside his body and his core shut down as he collapsed to the ground and turned human. Vlad snapped towards the boy and palmed his face in disbelief. Vlad quickly gave the command for the collar to release and Danny shot back up holding his breath. The teen tried to play it off like he wasn’t caught red handed playing around.
“I’m good...we gucci.” Danny shrugged and blushed from embarrassment. Vlad rolled his eyes and picked up the collar once more and handed it to Danny with a silent ‘stop playing’ and turned back to the anti ghost circle. Vlad popped off the lip and flipped the switch to release and pressed down on the button. A bright blue glow sprung to life from within the container and Tayonna was shot out to the ground. She was discombobulated as she held her head, slowly blinking and looking around. When she turned and saw Vlad and Danny she got to her feet and flicked her wrist to activate her powers.
When she didn’t see the glow of purple she looked down at her hands and back up to Vlad with anger. Vlad tried not to meet her in the eyes but there was something alluring about them and he couldn’t pull away. He strongly regretted it when he saw how angry she was and how angry he became suddenly. His anger rose as he thought about the years he spent in the hospital alone. The anger he still held against Jack and the fact he himself didn’t have the honour of marrying Maddie.
Vlad almost lost himself in the anger until he felt Danny nudge him. He snapped his neck towards Danny and the poor boy jumped back as Vlad’s eyes faded from blue to a red void and back again. Vlad blinked a few times then covered his face to get away from Tayonna’s sight. When he felt himself calm down with the help of counting down from ten he turned back towards the boy and pointed towards the collar.
“Yeah well, how are we supposed to get it on?” Danny whispered and Vlad groaned as he hadn’t thought about that.
“Fudge muffins.” Vlad closed his eyes and sat back down in his chair. He knew he couldn’t simply ask her to wear it without having to wrestle her down to the floor. Which threatens the chance of them rolling out of the circle and her being able to use her ghost powers. Vlad didn’t have time for his lab to be ruined all over again as it was nearly finished. Vlad had to think of something that could possibly trick the ghost into wearing it.
“Tayonna,” Vlad called out to her calmly and that seemed to confuse not only her but Danny. “Let’s make a deal.” Vlad didn’t wait for a yes or a no as he stood up and crossed his arms behind his back and walked to stand right in front of the girl. He left himself open as he locked eyes with her again. Either he would end up yanking the collar from Danny and getting it around her neck while dealing with false emotions. Or in the low chance he managed to get her to back off and be compliant he would simply snap the thing around her. It seemed that the former would be the winner until she started to breathe heavily, her brows turned upward in sadness and she finally backed away from him. She lowered her head and turned away. Vlad fought the smirk that laced itself across his lips and kept them pressed tight.
“What do you want?” Tayonna asked, not above a broken whisper. Vlad held out his hand to Danny and the boy handed him the collar.
“You will wear this collar and we can actually speak like civilized people. Or you will stay down here in the basement in this small circle until you can be civilized.” Vlad held up the collar with an open hand and waited for the ghost to turn towards him. It wasn’t much of a deal and he knew it but whatever had to be done would be done. He could see the way her hand slowly inched up her dress and he tsked a few times. “If you try that again I will not hesitate to rip you apart molecule by molecule. I don’t take playing with my core lightly.” Vlad’s voice dropped to a growl and that worked to get the ghost to move her hand away from her chest. She turned towards him qualmy, eyeing the collar then up to his eyes, she scrunched her nose at the idea of having to wear it.
“You’ve never put me in a collar.” She said.
“And I wish I didn’t have to,” Vlad didn’t know why he said that nor where it came from. When he saw the way her face dropped again he felt it in his heart and it made him take a deep breath before letting it out. “If you wear it, it won't hurt you, I promise you this.” It will never hurt again. Vlad was sure these were just her false emotions projecting but deep down he could actually feel that he meant it. Somewhere inside him he truly didn’t want to collar her or hurt her, and that bothered him. Tayonna looked lost in thought as she looked between the two males in front of her. Danny looked confused by Vlad’s sudden calm demeanor and ready to stop the whole thing. The boy held his wrist and just stood there. Tayonna looked back towards Vlad and her eyes went wide. Vlad could see it in her eyes she looked at him as if he was someone she was looking for and it pained her. Then her brows fell in knots and she shook her head before walking closer to the edge of the circle.
“I promise,” Vlad whispered to her once more than brought the collar up to snap around her neck. Tayonna flinched a bit at how tight it was then brought her hands up to touch it. Vlad held out his hand and she hesitantly took it as he led her out of the circle. Vlad almost felt happy to have the girl calm and willing. He watched her face closely as she looked around her. She was beautiful. What? Vlad winced at the small voice in his head but continued to stare at her. She’s always been so beautiful. Vlad’s eyes went soft like the way they did when he looked at Maddie, but in his mind, there was no Maddie, just Tayonna. Tayonna quickly took her hand back and held onto herself when she noticed Vlad’s hard stare. She wavered on if this was a good idea or if she had just handed herself over to the wrong person. Vlad snapped out of whatever fix he was in and cleared his voice before turning towards a very baffled Danny.
Vlad held up a hand, he didn’t have the answers himself, “It seems we might be getting somewhere, Daniel.” Vlad walked past the boy and lifted up his jaw. Vlad walked towards his portal just as the last monitor was fixed in place. He forgot all about the work being done during that whole thing. Vlad thought it was best now that he got the girl out of the circle to put space between them. He didn’t need any more little voices in his ear telling him things he didn’t believe.
“All done, boss!” The ghost workers all called off and Vlad thanked them before turning on the portal to allow them to leave. Vlad sighed in pure happiness as the soft green glow of the Ghost Zone illuminated his face. It was comforting since Vlad spent a lot of time there when he wasn’t taking care of his companies. It felt like he needed to take a quick flight through the zone to refresh himself before stepping foot in his house ever again. But that will have to wait as Vlad now has to get Tayonna to talk. Vlad turned back to the others and the default smile he normally wore. Danny only gave him a slightly worried expression while Tayonna turned completely away from the portal.
“Well, Daniel I think it’s best if you made it home.” Vlad stepped to the side and held out a hand ushering Danny. The boy bit his lip and looked back towards Tayonna who hadn’t moved an inch since getting out of the circle.
“Is this a good idea?” Danny walked over and going ghost.
“I can assure you it will,” Vlad gave him his best smile and nodded.
“You’re not gonna do anything...dangerous to her are you?” Danny leaned in towards Vlad with narrowed eyes and a finger pointed towards his face.
“Daniel, have I done anything to warrant your concern, as of recently?” Vlad’s smile dropped and he cocked a brow towards the teen. Seriously if Vlad wanted to cause trouble he honestly wouldn’t wait for the opportunity, he would go out and do it. Danny seemed to back down from that and rubbed his neck.
“No but old habits die hard. Keep me updated, fruitloop.” Danny shot through the portal and off into the Ghost Zone. Vlad sighed and rolled his eyes and closed the portal before turning on his heels and walking back towards Tayonna. When he got close she flinched away from him and shot him a glare.
‘The constant mood swings are rather annoying’ Vlad thought but kept his face neutral. “Miss Tayonna, it would be better if we went upstairs. Unless you wish to stay down here.” Vlad held out his hand but she refused to take it, with a shrug he dropped it.
“I don’t.” She responded and Vlad nodded then started towards the basement stairs to head back towards the first floor. Tayonna silently followed behind him.
Vlad kept an eye on Tayonna as he ventured around his house. She continued to follow him without complaint. At first Vlad found it endearing, she seemed so lost and followed him everywhere, but when he forgot she was there from how quiet she was and tried to go to the bathroom he quickly had to set rules of sorts.
“You don’t have to follow me, you could go sit somewhere until I come for you.” Vlad turned around and faced her and she seemed embarrassed for a moment. She turned her head from him and huffed.
“I have no idea where I am.” She mumbled.
“You’ve been in my house for almost a week and you don’t know your way around?” He tried to not sound condescending but it was a bit hard when the ghost that’s been haunting you acted like a puppy.
“I stayed by your side the whole time.” Tayonna looked back up to him and Vlad felt his heart skip a beat and his mouth run dry. He thought it was oddly flattering until he remembered she did it in ill will. Then there was something that caught his eye that really made him choke up. On the right side of her neck in the small dip before her shoulder were bite marks. That’s when he noticed the way she tended to only stand towards him on her left. Tayonna noticed his eyes staring towards her right and she turned away. Vlad didn’t have to say anything to confirm that that one particular dream she had actually infiltrated. ‘Dream manipulation, emotional manipulation, and mimicking...interesting’ Vlad blushed a bit and cleared his throat. Even with the stab in the back, he couldn’t help but still enjoy it for what it was. But he wouldn’t rub that in her face, yet.
Vlad turned away and motioned for her to follow him towards his downstairs office. He opened the door and allowed her to walk in first, he offered her a seat and Tayonna took it. Vlad walked over to his desk just as the phone began to ring. Ahh yes, what a wonderful time to receive a personal call. Vlad frowned and let out a heavy sigh before answering.
“Masters speaking.” Vlad gave his professional voice and the voice on the other side sighed and for once Vlad felt at ease by the rude welcoming.
“Hello Sir, you have got to be shitting me.”

HTaHHQ Episode 3: The Vengeance of an Artist (part 2)
And here's the final part! Looks like the prank went pretty well, and Stacy's warmed up to another Puppet. At least, to the point where she won't run in fear. Maybe, she'll even help him with more stuff in the future.
Next episode will be out... idk. Might be the next thing I write actually. Until then, hope y'all have a good time. :D
"Miss Stein, I have a job for you."
"I don't have to do any jobs for you." Stacy told him, voice kept deliberately even. Nick felt a little put out, holding Scout up by her arm. The handpuppet just hung there,
"You doing one for Daisy." he argued, pointing at the little blue annoyance. Stacy huffed and, to his shock, stalked forward to outright snatch the smaller Puppet from his grasp.
"Don't hold her like that!" She admonished, settling Scout on her head. "Daisy will kill you if you hurt her."
'How odd.' He thought, watching Stacy handle the little cretin. Outwardly, he sighed. "Yes yes, I'm well aware of her temper. Now, come along. We have a job to do."
"We have to wait here for Mary." Stacy told him sternly, and he smirked.
"Oh, don't worry about her. She'll be busy for quite a while yet."
In the writers' room, Mary slammed her hands on her desk in frustration, a mess of papers spread out in front of her. "Why the fuck does he always wait until Friday to request plot and script changes?!"
"She'll be done soon enough, but it gives us enough time for you to help me." Nick told Stacy, who frowned. This wasn't good at all.
"... I still need to stay with Danny though." She tried, desperate to find any reason to refuse. This wasn't at all like when Scout took her to the playroom.
"He can come with and help." Nick told them, turning and starting to wheel away. "Now, come along. We're wasting time."
Danny seemed happy enough to tag along, but Stacy kept a tight grip on his hand as they followed Nick down the hall and to the elevator by the door. He inserted his key card, and then stood aside to let the kids on first. Stacy climbed into the tiny box nervously. The only reason she was deciding to trust him was because she knew the playroom was up there, and she could hide in there with Danny if needed.
Up, up, up they went, to the highest floor. And then down the winding halls to a plain door with a hazard sign and the words KEEP OUT underneath it in bright red. It was also covered in various science themed stickers, like cartoonish beakers full of bright colors, and various medical tools. It didn't take a genius to know who slept in here.
"Why are we outside of Riley's bedroom?" Stacy asked, and then immediately regretted it when Nick coughed lightly into his fist. That was the cue that he was about to go into a monologue. She recognized it, because he used to do it at least once a episode in the show.
"Well, since she stole my beloved paints, I've decided to do some research into her "science", and found that replacing her beakers with these ones made of sugar glass will be hilarious." He held out the beakers, and scoffed when he noticed Stacy's look. "Oh don't give me that look, she keeps all her dangerous chemicals elsewhere. She just likes to keep her beakers for the show up here where it's "safe". It'll be great when they melt during Monday's filming."
"And why do you need me?" The girl asked. She fought the urge to cross her arms and tap her foot, though her impatience still leaked into her voice.
"I'm banned from Riley's room." Nick deadpanned, and it took everything Stacy had to not facepalm. Of course. "Also, Danny told me you're good at breaking into places you're not supposed to be."
"Danny! That's a secret!" She rounded on him, feeling her face go hot.
"But Nick asked!" The boy insisted unapologetically. "And besides, you said it was a good skill."
"No, I said it was a good skill to know, not a good skill by itself. Also, stop telling people stuff about me!" She looked mad, and Nick thought that was a good thing. Certainly a better look then the scared little girl he and the others usually saw. Now if he could just encourage her to lose the baggy shirts... but no. Plan the makeover for another time. For now, it was time for revenge!
He cleared his throat, wheeling closer and holding the box of beakers out. "Will you do it, or not?" He asked bluntly, and Stacy crossed her arms.
"I am not getting involved in your stupid little-"
"I'll give you fifty dollars." He whipped out the fifty from a hidden pocket in his sweater, and the girl stopped mid sentence. After a beat she snatched the bill, turning and crouching in front of the door. She tucked the money under her right glove, pulling out a couple of slim tools as she did so.
"I can't believe I'm selling myself for a fifty." She muttered as she unlocked the door. It was surprisingly simple, and it made her feel uneasy as she put the tools away. She grabbed the box of beakers, then handed off Scout. She peered inside, noting the lack of Riley or Rosco. "It looks empty." She told Nick, who waved her on.
With a nervous swallow, she entered the too bright room, the door closing most of the way behind her. There was a large table in the middle, and a messily made bed shoved in one corner. The walls were covered in shelves that were full of books on all sorts of subjects. Any other time, and she would've loved to see just what kinds of books were there. But, she had a job to do.
She crossed to the shelf that held the box of beakers, and quickly swapped it for the identical fakes. Holding the box of real beakers close, she crossed the room back to the door. she heard something open behind her, Riley's voice drifting through. Thinking quick, she ducked under the table, hopeful it would be enough.
"Let's see, if we do the mentos experiment again that should be good enough. Could have the kiddies make volcanoes..." She muttered as she wheeled past. Stacy stayed huddled down, hands over her mouth to muffle her breathing. She watched the stand stop by a shelf, followed by the sound of fabric hitting fabric as she threw something to the bed. "Maybe baking soda? That might work better. Or maybe as a comparison between the two... Yes! That would be fantastic for an experiment!" Pencil against paper, and then the sound of things being moved. Stacy threw a desperate look towards where the door was still ajar.
Technically, Stacy could sneak out if she was quick. Riley was still talking to herself, and seemed distracted enough. But, she didn't know which way the Puppet scientist was facing. If she was facing the door, Stacy would be caught immediately, and then they'd all be in deep dookie. And she couldn't check, because, again, deep dookie if she was caught.
But, she couldn't just sit there for forever. And so, with a deep, quiet breath, Stacy leaned carefully out from under the table, just enough to check where Riley was looking. To her luck, it looked like her attention was completely absorbed by the books. A glance back at the door showed it had opened a little bit wider, with Scout, Nick, and Danny all peering in at her. Okay, she could work with this.
Carefully, she set the box of beakers down with as little noise as possible. With any luck, they wouldn't be noticed under the table. She then resettled into a runners starting position, noting how Nick was on her left and Danny on her right. 'Perfect.'
With a bang she burst through the door, grabbing Nick's sweater while scooping her brother up in her right arm. She managed to turn and drag them both out of sight as a startled "What the-" followed her out of the room. She turned another corner before finally letting go of both of them, hopeful that Riley hadn't seen them. And that she wouldn't try and follow them.
Unfortunately for Nick, he had been precariously balanced on one wheel during the escape. So, when Stacy let go of his sweater, he tipped over immediately with a loud thump. Scout landed on his chest, having been safely in his arms during the whole thing.
"That was totally awesome!" She yelled, as Stacy tried to shush her. She was still holding Danny, who was clapping, and thus didn't have a hand free to stop the Puppet from flinging herself at her face.
"Scout, shut up!" She hissed, grabbing her. She covered her mouth and waited to make sure Riley hadn't heard. "You can't let her know we're up here, or we could get in trouble."
"Oh please, like I'd let that happen." Nick had somehow righted himself, "standing" straight as ever and talking in a low voice. "Besides, you at least get to be up here since you became Scout's babysitter. Don't pout, it's true." He told Scout when she opened her mouth to object.
"Yeah, but we should still get out of here before she finds us!" Stacy insisted, ignoring Danny's pushing at her arm. She finally noticed as he kicked her side, jumping a bit and putting him down. "Oh, sorry Danny." She grabbed his hand, not wanting him to wander off and alert Riley.
"Right. Come along, this way." He led them down another hallway, a different way to get to the elevator without having to backtrack. This time there was no place to slide a key-card, which made sense. They were already in the forbidden area after all. They got inside, staying quiet the whole ride down.
Once back on the main floor, Stacy expected to go back to the Sound Stage, where her and Danny were before. Instead, Nick led them to the writing offices, and she watched as the Puppets and Danny disappeared into Mary's office. Stacy hung back, lingering in the hall to look around a little.
The doors had windows with frosted glass on them, like in the old noir movies her dad liked to watch. As a result she couldn't see inside, so instead she crouched down to peer into the keyhole of Mortimer's office.
The Puppet was there, bent over some paperwork, hat sitting on the desk next to him. Stacy thought he looked weird with it off, and not how he was supposed to. She looked away after a moment, content the magician wasn't doing anything potentially dangerous to anyone. Instead she finally followed the others into Mary's office, where her stepmother was berating Nick for something.
She stepped into the room, letting the door close softly behind her and cutting off Mary's tirade.
"Oh, there you are! Go get your stuff Stacy, we're leaving now before I commit a murder." She told the girl, who nodded and quickly left the room again. Danny followed a moment later.
"Mommy's mad." He told her, and she nodded as her voice rose behind them.
"-and how DARE you do this to me now! You know better! Do I really need to talk to Mortimer about this again?!"
"Real mad. Let's hurry so we can get home!" Together they rushed to collect their bags from Stacy's locker. However, during the walk back, she couldn't keep her mind from wandering to the little adventure earlier.
'Maybe Nick's not so bad. He didn't say anything about my lock picking skills at least. Maybe... Maybe I could do more jobs for him. Later.'

Your liquors seeped to me, dulling and stilling
So basically I have been having many ideas for drabbles for Danvers/Ich and was going to make a drabble collection fic that would have had a fair bit of smut in it but instead I read @sincerelybluevase ‘s latest Danvers/Ich fics and got so many thoughts and somehow this was what ended up being written. Also tagging @need-not @thegirlisuedtobe (let me know if you don’t want to be tagged in Danvers/Ich fics and also if you do want to be tagged in future and I didn’t already tag you)
Warning for this fic (because somehow I wrote a dark thing?) for major character death and description of a corpse.
Also on Ao3 @empytmasks (please check me out there. emptymasks is my sfw account and crowdedmasks is my nsfw smut account) , which I can no longer link otherwise Tumblr blocks my posts from showing up in tags (:
Manderley awoke in screams.
"Not again!"
"How cruel!"
"This house is cursed!"
I was already getting dressed when the chaos erupted and barely had time to slip on a pair of shoes before I was being whisked down the endless staircase. I wouldn't have been able to count how many bodies I slid and stumbled past.
Someone, one of the cooks perhaps, took hold of my wrist and led me out and away from the house and around to the rickety wooden stairs that led down to the beach. When I paused on the first step he almost pulled us both down.
There was already a crowd gathered on the seafront. The waves were moaning, muddy and diseased as it spat out the foam that frothed around it's swollen mouth and yellowed teeth.
"Christ Thomas, you brought her down here?" Frith spoke from where the wooden banister melted into harsh, cold stone. He had his arm around a trembling mass of brown tweed.
The man shuddered and looked up at me as I descended. I would have barely recognised it was Frank, if not for that jacket. His face was red, eyes and cheeks puffed out like a baby making it's first cry.
"Mrs de Winter, you shouldn't..." He hiccupped out his words. "You shouldn't see this."
"Shouldn't see what?" I walked towards him, reaching out a hand and placing it on his arms that were so tightly wound around himself.
His eye's flickered to where the majority of the staff were gathered.
I walked as though in a trance. Frank made a weak attempt to stop me, but I glided away from him.
The hysterics got louder as I approached and someone looked my way before nudging the others and they parted, peeled away from the monster they were hiding.
Time stopped as I stared down at the body.
I couldn't cry. I couldn't scream. There was some sort of pressure in my skull, but my body was frozen.
Maxim's pretty, green eyes gazed up at me.
He couldn't have been in the water for more than twelve hours or so, but the sea had quickly marked its prize.
Seaweed was woven between the button holes of his heavy coat, and ran up along his chest until it almost looped around his neck like some overgrown noose. One of his arms jutted out just above the elbow at an unnatural angle and I quickly moved my eyes as my stomach gave the smallest whimper.
And his face... His handsome face was caved in above the brow bone on his left side. It was like one of those old Greek sculptures that had been damaged and lost a chunk of itself. Beautiful and pale marble lying untouched and so close to the damage that if you closed one eye and covered the missing part with your hand, you wouldn't suspect there was anything wrong with it.
I was almost tempted to do exactly that. To see if he would look alive.
But the results of the impact with some rock stained his hair with rust, caked it with grime. And those eyes... still and unblinking.
"Come on, ma'am, let's get you inside," Clarice's hands on my shoulders were as gentle as possible and yet the contact still made me jump.
When I turned around, there were so many eyes upon me. What did they think? What did they suspect?
I nodded to Clarice and made my way back to the house. I didn't need to look at him any longer.
The whisperings continued as I made my way off the beach.
"Poor man, I suppose he just couldn't take it. Perhaps he saw this as the only reason to be with Rebecca again. After all, it's Rebecca's balcony windows that were left open."
"Or, and don't look at me like that, but, well, killing himself so soon after her body was found... doesn't that make it seem like he really did do it? Even if it was an accident?"
"It sure doesn't make him look any more innocent."
"Exactly."
"He was hardly a murderer, come now."
Whatever reasons they seemed to think of, it seemed they were all in agreement. Whether it was out of grief or guilt: Maxim de Winter had jumped and killed himself.
Clarice put a hand on me as my body trembled ever so slightly, but I managed to control it by the time we had gotten back inside the house.
"Frith already called the police, Ma'am. He figured you might not be in the state to do so yourself."
"Thank him for me, will you?" I put one foot onto the staircase and looked up. The air seemed strange. But I knew where I was going. "You can go now, Clarice. I'll call you if I need you."
She eyed me with concern. "If you're sure, Ma'am." She dipped her head and went back outside.
I took deep breaths as I ascended, my footsteps echoing. It struck me that I might be the only one in the house. Well, apart from her.
The door to Rebecca's bedroom was open a crack and I slid in, barely pushing it open.
I almost expected her to be stood proud, curtains billowing around her, not daring to touch her, as I had so often found her. Instead, she was kneeling on the floor, bottles and rags around her.
"You'll hurt yourself if you stay knelt like that," She didn't jump as I spoke. It was impossible to creep up on her.
"Well someone had to get the scuff marks out of the wood before anyone saw them, Madam."
She seemed satisfied and placed the lid back on the jar of polish. I titled by head back and forth, watching as the early morning sun gleamed off the wood.
Before she could brace her palms against the now spotless floor, I held out a hand for her. She hesitated for only a moment, before she took it and I pulled slightly to help her up.
She rolled her shoulders back as she stood and towered over me.
She didn't remove her hand from mine.
The cool air raised the hair on my skin. I was only dressed in my slip, with a coat thrown hastily on top.
"You'll catch your death like this, Madam," She said as she slid her hand against me and popped open the only button I'd managed to fasten.
I smiled.
My eyes wandered over, past the balcony, and I tugged her behind me as I walked to its edge.
The sea seemed much calmer from up here, almost blending in with the sky on the horizon. I breathed in and it tasted like the air from the mountains near Monte Carlo. The anxiety I felt them, but also such hope, knowing things were about to change.
"Do you regret any of it?" Her voice was quiet and I turned away from a hollow, burnt out love and looked at her.
Those confident and oh so sure of herself eyes that burned, always burned, seemed to flicker. A flame fearing being blown out. I'd never seen her with such an expression.
"Danny," The word broke out of my mouth in a sigh and I shook my head, my body rising onto my tiptoes as I reached for her lips.
"None of it." I said when I parted from her. "None at all."
Then that familiar gnawing at the back of my head chimed in.
"Do you?"
"No," Mrs Danvers smiled. "Mrs de Winter."
AN: be gay do crime
fellas is it gay to fall in love with a married woman and then her husband kills her and remarries you want to hate her but end up falling for her and conspiring to kill her husband with her?
this was just very surprising for me because i actually like maxim (the musical version, more specifically jan ammann's version) and relate to certain things that are going on with him and i really fell like jan's version has been through emotional abuse and just overall maxim in the musical is much more sympathetic and rebecca's death is likely an accident (or at least believably an accident) unlike the book. which i wasn't aware of and i'm still not very aware of the differences between the book and the musical other than book! maxim being a complete arse.

also please let me know if the first person is okay. i've written a rebecca fic before from ich/i/narrator's point of view but wrote it in third person because i don't feel that comfortable writing first person but i tried.
this is also very much the darkest thing i've ever written, the first lines i thought of for this were lines describing maxim's face. who knew i, someone who's writing seems to always turn to fluff because i'm soft, had this in me
anyway i stayed up for longer than i meant too to get this posted and now i’m gonna spend 3 hours watching the broadway revival of the king and i and it’s 10:30pm oops.

Note
i saw that post and thought of this yesterday but my brain was unreasonably shy but here it is now usdygbhjn: “It’s three in the morning.” danny @ dash
Milky Way
Sometimes Danny hates living in the city. Actually, most of the time he hates it. Not because of the noise, or all the people, or even the ghosts, but the stars. Or the lack of them, at least.
Danny was ten years old when he realized the sky he saw every night was a lie. He had seen plenty of pictures of the night sky taken from different parts of the world. At that age, he just assumed that’s how the sky worked. Some places had less stars than others, he was unfortunately born in a place with very few stars overhead.
Until his sister got him a big astronomy textbook for his tenth birthday and he learned the city was to blame. All the city lights polluted the sky and kept him from seeing the sky for what it truly was. For weeks, he tried to convince his parents to move, to pack up all their things in the RV and drive out far away into the middle of nowhere, where there was no people and no light pollution, and he could see the stars in all their glory every night.
He never got that wish, but nowadays Danny doesn’t mind it so much. Now, if he wants to see the night sky as it should be seen, all he has to do is fly up, up, up beyond the clouds, just past the edge of the mesosphere.
There, he floats along the Kármán line, the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space, and he can see everything. It’s beautiful. He can’t help but think of every childhood drawing he made of the stars and how wrong he was.
The sky isn’t an endless expanse of black peppered with bright white spots. It’s a gorgeous mix of blues and purples, and even some pink in the Milky Way itself. Every inch of the sky is covered in stars. There are so many he has trouble picking out the constellations he knows better than his hometown, but he manages.
The familiar cup of Ursa Minor, Draco’s lithe body winding past, Hercules’ crooked form by the dragon’s head.
Danny traces the familiar lines with his softly glowing eyes and feels as empty as the space between the stars. Even though that distance looks so small from here, he knows how vast it really is.
Tipping back his head, he stares back down toward Earth. Cities make their own constellations across the dark surface. The sixty-two miles between him and the ground right now is not enough. He wants to fly higher, way out into space, and get lost in its cold comfort. But he can’t, because he has a city to protect, friends who depend on him, and a family who loves him.
At least he thinks they love him.
Danny reaches for his phone and goes to check the time, but the screen doesn’t turn on. He frowns, tapping the screen, and even shakes the device a few times. And then he remembers how cold it’s supposed to be up here, something he can’t really feel anymore, and it probably killed the battery.
He’s just lucky it isn’t iced over. At this height, it should be, but he probably has the radiation from his ectoplasm to thank for that.
Grudgingly, Danny tells himself he should probably head home. He flips over, head to the ground, and starts flying.
He takes his time, it’s still barely more than hour before he’s back in Amity. Just before diving through Fenton Work’s roof, he looks back up at the sky. It’s empty and sad.
The first thing Danny does when he’s back in his room is plug in his phone. He considers transforming; it’s dangerous to stay in ghost form while his parents are home. But after staring at his blank phone for a few long seconds he decides against it. He doesn’t really want to be human right now.
Curled up on his bed, head against his pillow, knees pulled up to his chest, he waits for his phone to charge enough to turn on. Those five minutes feel infinitely longer than his flight back from space.
“Screw you, Clockwork,” Danny mutters. It’s not really Clockwork’s fault, but it feels good to have someone to blame, and the ghost of time is a ripe target.
The moment his screen lights up, Danny reaches out and snags it off his bedside table. He notes the time, quarter to three, then goes through his notifications. Some spam emails, a couple game notifications, but no texts or calls. Which makes sense, it’s the middle of the night, who the hell would be up right now besides him?
As soon as Danny thinks that, his phone buzzes and a message appears at the top of his screen.
From Dash: [image]
Another quickly follows.
From Dash: was that u?
Eyes heavy, Danny stares at the texts for a long moment before clicking them. The messaging app is bright and glaring compared to his dark home screen and he squints when it lights up his room. He clicks the image Dash send, feeling instant relief when his screen gets significantly darker.
It’s a shot of the sky from Dash’s bedroom window, the corner of the next building over cutting through the image. Just above that is a bright white speck. If Danny didn’t know better, he might have mistaken it for a star or a planet.
Closing out the image, Danny types back: yeah, it’s me.
He hits send, turns onto his back, and sets his phone down on his chest. He’s not expecting a reply, although he has no reason not to, so it startles him when his phone buzzes not even a second later.
From Dash: thought so. What were…
From Dash: Patrol?
Danny pulls himself up, opening his phone once again, and reads the full messages.
Dash: thought so. What were you doing so high up?
Dash: Patrol?
Hunched over his phone, Danny doesn’t so much stare at the screen as he does zone out in its general direction. He knows what he wants to type in response, but he can’t seem to get his fingers to move.
The phone sits cradled in his hand, his thumbs thick silhouettes against the white screen. The longer he looks, the more he thinks they aren’t his thumbs but just thumbs. Anyone’s thumbs. They didn’t belong to him. He was a hundred miles away, out in space.
Before he can decide if this is a good or bad idea, he hits the call button.
It gets through half a ring before Dash picks up.
“Hey, Danny.”
Dash’s is voice is rough and dry, but it isn’t thick with sleep, reassuring Danny he hasn’t dragged Dash out of partial slumber.
“Danny?”
The call time says it’s been going for over a minute.
Danny swallows. “Hey.”
“You okay?”
“Dash…” Danny trails off. He rolls his neck. It pops in a way that probably isn’t healthy, but is also so familiar he doesn’t think twice about it anymore. He licks his lips. “Why are we friends?”
That isn’t what he meant to say. He doesn’t know what he really wanted to say, but he knows that wasn’t it.
The call is at five minutes.
“Because Paulina and Sam are dating.” Dash chuckles.
Danny thinks he should be chuckling too, but the sound doesn’t come. It’s a joke they’ve made a hundred times, as familiar as the crick in Danny’s neck, but it’s not the answer he wants right now.
“I’m friends with Tucker because… because we’ve always been friends. I can’t imagine not being friends with him,” Danny says. He takes one the hands—his hands, he has to remind himself—away from the phone and turns it over. Is it really him doing that?
“Sam kind of made herself friends with us. But we always thought she was cool anyway, so, we wanted her.” Danny rubs his hand on his thigh, stopping to grip his knee. He can feel the pressure, but he can’t really feel it. “We hate each other.”
Ten minutes.
“We used to, I guess. I don’t know. I don’t think I ever really hated you. Just, stupid high school stuff.”
“Stupid high school stuff,” Danny repeats. He glances at the time at the top of his screen. “It’s three in the morning.”
“Yeah.”
“Why are you up at three in the morning?”
“Why are you?”
Danny sucks in a sharp breath. “Just. Couldn’t sleep. Yeah.”
“Yeah? Same.”
This time, Danny chuckles. He can’t figure out why it’s funny, but it is. Dash? Having trouble sleeping? People like him aren’t supposed to have Danny’s problems. They’re supposed to date the head cheerleader, and have tons of friends, and get some big football scholarship that carries them through college, and be famous. Or something.
But the head cheerleader is dating Sam. Dash only has a handful of people he talks to regularly. He told Danny last month that he doesn’t want to play football in college. He wants to be a social worker, like his mom, and not be famous.
Danny laughs again.
“What’s so funny?”
“S-Sam,” Danny says between giggles. “Sam stole your girlfriend.”
“She really didn’t.” Dash sounds amused, a humorous lilt in his voice.
Danny can’t figure out what he finds so funny. It’s Dash’s life that isn’t going how it’s supposed to. Sucks to be him, thrust into a set role the moment he became quarterback in freshman year, stuck with a path he doesn’t want, that he doesn’t quite seem to fit. What kind of high school king is he?
The next time Danny laughs, it sounds closer to a sob. He sniffs and rubs his nose on his sleeve, the thick, rubbery material of his jumpsuit irritating his nose. The suit smells vaguely of burnt flesh and sulfur. No matter what Danny does, he can’t seem to wash it out.
Twenty minutes.
“Danny, I think you should go to sleep now.”
“’M fine,” Danny insists.
“You’re really not.”
“That’s kind of rude.” Danny drags his hand through his hair. It never feels like normal hair in his ghost form. Too wispy and light, like a silk veil.
“I can call you in the morning if you want. Or I can get Paulina to text Sam, or Tucker. I think I still have Jazz’s number somewhere.”
“Don’t hang up,” Danny says softly. He fells forward, curling onto his side around the phone, sticking his feet under his pillow.
They’ve been on the phone for well over half an hour now. Danny’s pretty sure they haven’t talked enough to fill out all that time. He wonders how much of it Dash has spent just sitting there, waiting for Danny to answer. It makes him feel like a bit of a prick.
“Sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
Danny can tell Dash doesn’t know what the apology’s for, but he appreciates the acceptance nonetheless.
“You won’t hang up?” Danny asks.
“I won’t hang up.”
Danny nods, even though Dash can’t see it. He wishes he could. He wants someone here right now, but not Sam, or Tucker, or his sister, or his parents who maybe hate him, but he can never be too sure because they don’t know they hate him and he’s too afraid to tell them. Without all those other options, he supposes Dash will do.
He falls asleep, eventually, and wakes up human and cold, his phone still on beside him.

Black soon turn to white, soft light casted shadows over the soft surface you were lay on. Your mind buzzed, pulling yourself up you looked around the room. It w as a bedroom with two huge windows casting sunlight everywhere.
You felt heavy with weight of your dream, hunting monsters and being with someone or was this the dream? Everything was mixing together.
"Y/N? You're going to be late if you sleep any longer" You froze that voice it felt like years since the last time you heard it. Confused you ran along the house, unsure of your path but positive of the destination.
There he was standing in the living room, going through the mail, "You still not dressed?" he looked up laughing but he's face dropped to worry when he saw your face.
"Danny?"   you chocked out, running into his arms. He was almost knocked off his feet by the sudden impact.
"Morning I guess, what's got into you?" he cocked his head to the side looking concerned.
Things went fuzzy, you had to blink before you could answer. "I had the weirdest dream" you drew away and tried to think but hit another wall of confused.
Danny kissed your cheek, "go on and get dressed, I'll drop you off".
Weakly smiling you nodded and headed back to the bedroom. This felt like the first time you had been in the house but it couldn't of been, the whole place was filed with your things and pictures.
One caught your eye more than the others. You were standing there in a white vintage dress , Danny with his arms wrapped around you. Both smiling, not even looking towards the camera but to whatever part of the other they could see.
A outfit was already laid out along with a ID badge.  'Ph.D. Y/N  Y/L/N. mythology and folklore'.
Half way through getting dressed you looked over to a mirror and looked at yourself. It was like you were looking at yourself but not really. You swore you hair was slightly longer and your skin missing key features, scars, buries , mark and tattoos. Why did it feel like you had a tattoo.
"What is wrong with me today?" you muttered as you finished getting ready. Something was weighing down on you but you couldn't say what it was.
Shaking away the feeling you took a bag from the floor, you didn't even need to think about it, you did it everyday.
Danny was waiting by the door in his own work clothes. Normally messy hair was tidy, he wore a suit which brought out his blue eyes. He's a manger. A voice said it the back of your head.
Everything was so different from when you were 22 living in a tiny apartment, now you were both older and doing what you both dreamed.
"you good?" he looked up at you as you walked up to him.
"Yes, I'm so proud of us" you kiss his cheek and link your arm with his and leave the house.
Everything passed in a hazes, doing things without thinking. Teaching classes to students who were where you once were. Full of love for lore and the unknown. Everything felt perfect but something was missing. Through out the day you would get flashes from last night's dream. Flashes of a kind face and a pain that would come and go within seconds.
"Dr Y/L/N?" you looked up from your desk and found two men in suits standing at the door. They were both tall, though one was a bit taller than the other.
"Yes. Can I help you?" you looked closers at the two men, something about them was so familiar but whatever it was wouldn't pop up in your mind.
"I'm agent Sam Mosely and this is my partner agent Dean Moscone, FBI" The taller one said, both quickly showed some ID.
"sit please" You jested to the sits in front of you. "I'm confused to why the FBI want to speak to me".
Sam smiled, "We were wondering if you could help us with something"
Dean cut in, "of course we can't tell you any details with it being an investigation"
"of course" you nodded, "mm so what's your question?"
"What do you know about hades?" Dean  asked very seriously.
You let out a small laughed half from awkwardness and half from confusion. "Like the Greek god?" They both nodded keeping their serious faces. "Well he's the god of the dead, many people think he's the god of death but they're wrong. He's also the king of the underworld" you spoke from your memory.
"and how would you kill him?"  Dean  asked, writing something down in a notepad.
"Kill him?" your eyes were wide when you answered. "why do you need to know that?"
"like we said it's under investigation" Sam seeing the confusion on your face and tried to calm things down.
Something about him, when your met his eyes you felt the same tug you had felt all day but even stronger. "I'll have to look through some books to find something" you were still looking at Sam.  "You can wait around or I can call you?"
Dean pulled a card from his pocket and pushed it over to you. "calling us would be better. Thanks for your help".
They both stood up to walk away but before they could you called after them. "Wait!" you stood up and walked to the other side of your desk. "This is going to sound crazy but have we met before? Something about you two is so familiar, this whole day has been crazy really" you sat down on the edge of the desk and sighed.
Sam and Dean looked among themselves, seeing if either remembered anything. "we travel a lot with this job so maybe we've passed each other in the streets before"
"Maybe" you tried to remember yourself but everything turn into fog.
Sam POV The next morning had come and passed since Y/N last called.  Of course he knew she would be just find, he had seen her handle two vampires in one move, if she was hunting a Djinn then she'll have it over with fast. But it had been an whole day and she hadn't called or texted. He also knew she didn't have to call him but she had been doing it because he wanted her too.
He had called her god knows how many times, at first it would ring but now it went straight to voice mail. "Hey you've reached Y/N  Y/L/N. only a few people have this number and they know who they are so if I didn't personal give you this number hang up."
"Y/N still not answering?" Dean asked from his doorway. When it came to Sam's feeling Dean was quick to pick them up.  Then again Sam thought even Cas would of picked up on the way Sam was acting. Also having his phone in his hand and contently looking at your contact number on his screen.
"I think something is wrong" he said rubbing his face.
"you know her better than I do, Sammy" Dean sighed, he walked  into Sam's room. "If you think something is wrong, then we'll go and check it out"
"Thanks Dean" Sam smiled, knowing he could count on Dean with anything. He didn't know if Dean understood everything that was happening between him and Y/N. He told Dean about the first kiss but nothing about the two days they had together.
They didn't wait long till they were on the road. "So I hacked into Y/N's laptop to see what she was looking at" Sam said going through Y/N's history.
"What was she even looking into?" Dean asked eyes on the road.
"last time she updated me , she was thinking a Djinn, she had just checked out the newest vic" Sam  said checking the records. "the same thing has happened in 3 states"
"So this Djinn knows what they're doing" Dean sighed. "I mean she could of just lost her phone or something"
"She would of found a way, but Dean if this is a Djinn then she's in trouble" he couldn’t met Dean's eyes. "She said once that she'd give anything to get her old life back and the Djinn will use that against her"
"She'll know then. She'll fight her way out" Dean patted his brother's shoulder.
"But what if she doesn't want to get out" Sam could feel his chest get tighter. He hated he let her just walk out on her own.
"look Sam, I don't want to pry into your personal life but I know you care a lot about her, I guess don't want to see you hurt" Dean sighed and briefly looked towards Sam.
"I just- I don't know what it is about her but just being in the same room as her makes me happier than I've been in a long time but I don't know what she feels, she's been through a lot and I don't think she can handle this" Sam jested  with this hands.
                                               ***
Sam flipped through a file while Dean talked with the coroner about the victim. Y/N's research and theories match up to what they were seeing.
"I was waiting for you guys to show up with the other kills across the states" The coroner said as she covered the girl's body up again.
"Someone has come yet?" Sam turned around fast.
The coroner looked confused, looking for Sam panicked face to Dean's worried face. "No you guys are the first. Was someone else supposes to come?"
"We got feedback back from one of our partners that she might of found a lead" Dean cleared his throat getting the attention off Sam.
"is there anyone else here who would of shown her the victim?" Dean asked, glazing at Sam who was looking more and more sick as the seconds went by.
"No. we're a small town, it's just me down here" The coroner was starting to look worried too, "You're welcome to check the CTV".
"Thank you that would be great" Sam said, his voice was far to high, he held himself  higher too.
They were left alone to go through  the footage, after going through a fought timeline of Y/n's day they found the right time. Sam swore his breath stopped when he saw her.
First she stood waiting for whoever was coming, from the way she was standing she must have been texting. Checking the timestamp and their text history, she was texting him.  He watched as she took a heavy breath and smile sadly.
"Look" Dean's voice made him draw his eyes away from Y/N, Dean was pointing towards a man walking closer to Y/N, then his eyes looked into the camera and they glowed blue of a second.
"he's the Djinn" Sam exhaled standing up, "He must be the reason she's missing"
                                                      *** Reader pov
"You never guessed what happened today?" You said while washing dinner up, everything had been ready when you walk in the door after work.
"You found a cool lore fact?" Danny joked from the other side of the kitchen.
You laughed and turn to watch him wiping the table down.   "yes but also The FBI came to my office today and asked about Hades"
He sent you a look that said he didn't believe you, "The god of death?" he was defiantly trying not to laugh.
"God of the dead actually, and they did! They couldn't tell me what it was about but it's just weird" you didn't mention the fact you recognized them.
"well that's something  you don't hear everyday" Danny said. "Did you give them an answer?"
"actually I need to call them back" you said, pulling your phone from your pocket.
The whole researching into Hades and a way to kill him had taken longer than you thought. You had ended up pulling out every book about Greek mythology and everything in between. You got an odd thrill from researching into something so weird, why would you need to know how to kill a god? After hours of searching, tired from reading you found a few things that could help.
"Hello this is agent Mosely" his voice was clear and once again you felt a tug.
"Hi, this is dr. Y/N, I'm calling about what we talked about today" you looked away from Danny, something wanting to be alone while you spoke. "hope this is a good time".
"Yeah, of course. What did you find out?" he asked.
"Well not a lot but I found a few things. Firstly to kill him you need a stake from a dead tree, soaked in salt water. It needs to be through his heart as well" you explained.
"And the other way?" he asked keeping an serious tone.
"This one is less violent, you could summon his wife. Persephone  goddess of  vegetation.  I read a few tales that said she's the only one who can handle him. You know what love is like" You looked briefly over to Danny.
"well now we have a back up plan" his serious voice went away for a second and you caught a glimpse of who he really was. God I love his smile.
You mind spoke before you could actually think, how could you love a smile you had never seen before or had you, you thought he looked familiar but couldn't name the place.
"Yeah, you do" You smiled wishing you had told him in person. "Call me if you need anything".
"we will, thanks Y/N" he was still smiling when he spoke.
You couldn't help but smile when you put your phone away, something inside of you felt glad, complete with everything you had done today.
"You okay, love?" Danny was next to you, holding your hand in his. You looked down to your joint hands, the jester made your heart skip but you also felt the same tug you had felt all day.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm good" you try to keep the same smile but you both saw it waver. "I just feel a little lost today".
His hand moved to your cheek, you sighed letting yourself absorb the feeling. The weirdness of the day went away the longer you stayed under his touch.
"come on, lets go to bed" his voice sounded miles away, your breathing sounded heaver but you couldn't feel it moving as fast. The room flicker from the moonlight lit kitchen to a dark room you didn't know.
You were dragged out of your train of thought by an alarm ringing. You shot up in bed, looking all around the room, moments ago you were standing in the kitchen. What happened in the time since.
"rise and shine" Danny came into the room, carrying breakfast on a tray. "you're up in time to have break fast in bed".
He placed the tray on your lap. Your favorite kind of egg with beans and toast with coffee. "thank you" you blinked still feeling dazed.
This overwhelming feeling was getting worse as the days went on, everything should be perfect but it felt wrong like you had gotten use to life being hard and it being a fight to survive that things being good were worst.
While eating your food, you tired even harder to remember something other than the last day. Glimpses were all that showed up, flashes more like pictures.
The morning pasted like it did the day before, you looked at yourself for far to long, not knowing who was looking back. Danny drove you to work , you taught and then sat in your office not knowing what was next.
Just then the same agent from yesterday came in. Sam, the one with the smile you knew but didn't at the same time. This time instead of a suit he wore jeans, a flannel shirt paired with a jacket.
"Sam. Good to see you. But if you’re here, who’s guarding Hades?” You joked, it felt right like the right thing to say.
You were rewarded when he laughed, turning his face to the side. "I just wanted to thank you again in person. You were a lot of help"
"I think if I didn't then I'd have the FBI on my case" you said still smiling.
"It was just a strange question to ask" he came closer and took a seat.
"I enjoyed it actually. Recently everything feels the same but looking into something weird was amazing" you smile still remembering the feeling. The rush.
"you'd like what we do then, it's always the weird stuff"  he chuckled shaking his head.
"oh I bet, Winchester" you say, not knowing what you said until his face changed. Winchester.
"I think you have-" he started but stopped when you rose to your feet.
"Oh god. I remember. I was- am a hunter, I was hunting a Djinn and then I woke up here" you back away fast, knocking over a drink on your desk. "And I know you and your brother, we were I don’t even know"
Sam looked panicked that your sudden changed in emotions.
Then it drawn on you, if this was some crazy Djinn dream then it wasn't read. "No. Oh god, he's dead" you whispered it, fear gripping into your bones.
"hey, just calm down" Sam was at your side, holding you.
"No" you pushed him away. "I need to go" you left Sam and the room behind before you were hit with more confusion.
*** Sam pov After seeing Y/N and the Djinn their next stop was the farm she had mention before. They both knew how Djinn worked,  this Djinn would lock its victim it a perfect world while it drained all their blood. Y/N could days or hours left. He prayed that he would find her alive and fighting. She could of won against the Djinn but too hurt to move, he didn’t know if he liked that anymore.
"Isn't that her car?" Dean pointed just ahead of them,   there it was her green aston martin.  It had a light covering of leafs, it was untouched.
"Yeah, she must be near by" Sam was already looking around the near by area trying to spot her. It was mid day, Dean had wanted to wait till night but Sam couldn't.
They came to the farm next, parking closer so they could get a quick get away if needed. Pausing to get what they needed before going looking around.
Dean took the old house, while Sam went to the barn. The farm had obviously been a busy one. The barn had dozens of old tools, even an old tractor. Apart from all that it had nothing that would help them.
"Sam!" Dean yelled was distance but he could still make it out. He ran towards the house, towards Dean. Once he was inside he searched for Dean and Y/N. "Sam" Dean called again, his voice was coming from the top floor. Sam ducked his head into two rooms before he found the room Dean was in.
It was a small bedroom, the bed was in the far end of the room and slummed on top of the bed was Y/N.  Her back was against the head board, both arms tired to it too. Hanging by her head was a bag of blood attached to her neck. She was dirty with hollow eyes, from losing blood and being without food or water.
Sam went straight over to her and cut her free, pulling the needle from her neck. She fell against him, still unconscious. Her breathing was slow and intermittent. Even though she was in a horrible state she still felt warm.
"I see you found your friend" Both Dean and Sam spun around, shocked to find the same man from the CTV watching them. "she probably does have long left"
He walked closer to them. Dean pulled his knife out, silently threating .
"I'll give her this, She's very strong. Took almost all my strength to keep her fooled" He looked to Y/N in Sam's arms with a smug smile. "too bad you won't make it out either"
"you've got our places mixed up" Sam pulled away from Y/N, she fell limply onto his lap. He moved fast, pulling his own knife covered in lambs blood from his jacket and threw it start at the Djinn. It was a risk but it paid off, the knife hit it's target.

Reader Pov
You ran  as fast as you could, you kicked off the stupid heels you chosen to wear after tripping 3 times. You needed to get back to house before you forgot again. Your chest burnt and your body screamed for you to slow down but you carried on.
When you finally reached the house you threw yourself in. Only then did you allow yourself to breath. Danny came into the hallway looking confused. "What are you doing back this early?"
"This isn't real" you chock out as you caught your breath. "You aren't - I'm not really here".
"what's going on Y/N?" he tried to came closer but you moved away. "Of course you are"
"No. You died. And I found you and it broke my heart" You tried to hold back your tears. "and now I can't love the person I should"
"love someone else" he took a step back, looking hurt.
"I still love you, I do but something else is starting and I want to- I want to jump into it" You couldn't hold it in any longer. You walked teary eyed to the kitchen knowing what you needed to do. Danny followed you.
"Y/N, you're not well, Come on I'll take you to the doctors" He was so close, you had to push yourself to keep walking.
"I was hunting a Djinn, it must of caught me and put me here" You know you sounded mad but it didn't matter, you'd be gone soon.  "I've already been here for two days, who knows how long I have left"
"You making no sense! I knew this lore nonsense would lead to nothing good" Danny said, he sounded tired and angry.
"You think I'm mad and god I know I am but not about this. You died years ago and I never got to say goodbye, I thought I wanted this life back but I don’t. I want my old life back" your eyes  darted       around looking for a knife.
"Y/N just calm down" his eyes widen when he saw you pick up a knife. "Just put the knife down"
"I miss you so much but I can't stay, if I do I die too" the weight of the knife was alien and familiar at the same time.  Closing your eyes, you mused all you had and brought the knife to your chest. You gasped as the knife went in.
Your eyes shot open, your hand went to your chest to see if there was blood. "Y/N?" Sam was above you, lifting you into a sitting position. You felt weak and could hardly force.
"we should get out of here" You turned and saw Dean watching you both.
"My car, I can't leave it" you tired to move from the bed but your legs failed.
"It's okay, I'll drive it. You need to rest" Sam stood up, then lifted you in his arms.
"I've basically been asleep for days" You weakly try to fight the suggestion.
"yeah but you're missing a lot of blood". When you left the room you saw the coroner lay dead on the floor.  "why is the coroner here?"
"he's was the Djinn" Dean said walking over the body.
"Okay" you kept your eyes on his still form until you left the room.
Dean was walking just ahead, he kept looking back at you in Sam's arms. You were aware of just how Sam was watching you and so was Dean.
You stopped the impala close to the house, Dean got in and sent a nod over to Sam. Your car was just where you left it. Seeing it gave you a feeling of shame, it was his car, it was the only thing left of his in the world.
You silently handed the keys to Sam, he helped you get in the car before circling around to the drivers side. "Try and sleep until we get to the bunker"
You nodded, you couldn't find the strength to do anything else. It was easier than you would of like to fall asleep, even though that’s all you had been doing, you felt like all your life had been drained away.
The next time you woke up, you were back in the bunker. You had no idea how much time had pasted but you guessed it had been at least a day or two by how much better you felt and how hungry you were.
Sitting up, letting your cover fall off, you saw that you had changed out of the dirty suit you were last in. You guessed Sam was the one who did it.
You were sure o f your answer now, even being in a dream world your problems still came up. This was something you needed to do, to say. Your heart knew what to do with Sam.
Thank god you were in the same room as your things, it would make things so much easier. You pulled on some jeans and got to putting all your things in a bag. There wasn't much in there, everything else was in your car.    Shit. You bit your lip, you gave your car keys to Sam he could still have them.
Your phone was sat on the bedside table,  4am. Leaving with no goodbye would send the messages but why did it hurt so much. You told yourself this was the better ending, if things carried on one of you would end up dead. You had nearly died just the day before.
You had everything ready, only then did you noticed you were crying. When you picked up your bag, you held back a sob when you saw Sam's shirt alone on the bed. Another message.
You walked slowly so no one who hear you. The library was empty and so was the war room, which is what you expected it was 4 am. You luck stuck again, you keys were on the table. But your luck didn't last for long.
"Y/N? what are you doing?" Sam walked through Library and up to you. His eyes took everything in, the car keys in your hand, your bag at you feet and you standing there dressed.
"I thought you were asleep" You said, throat sore from holding in tears. "It would have been better that way"
"what would be better? Leaving without saying goodbye" he sounded so hurt.
"This isn't a good idea" you sobbed, just letting everything out now.
"you're saying what I feel, what I thought you felt isn't a good idea" his eyes were glassy with tears, his voice high but no enough to wake Dean up.
"It doesn't matter what I feel! This will only end one way" You cried, chest heavy. "I can't do this"
"I don’t understand" he shook his head.
"I can't lose someone again. I already lost Danny and that nearly killed me" You were crying harder. "And i- oh god I love you more than I have ever love anyone"
"if you love me then why are you leaving " he was crying too.
"Because this will hurt less, I'll lose you but you'll be alive and I can live with that" you chocked on your words, fighting to get them out.
"what about me? Don't my feeling matter?" he was closer now, you could feel the warmth coming from his body.
"You'll thank me in the end" you said, throat sore as ever. And without looking at him again you left. Feeling horrible and also dead inside, you got into your car and drove anyway.

Chapter 2
Steve was up early, like he normally was, and had a prospect watch Y/N’s door while he went for a quick run around the property. When he got back she was up and sitting at the bar working on some scrambled eggs.
Clint peaked from the kitchen window and nodded to Steve as he dried some dishes.
Steve nodded back and Y/N looked his way. “I’ll be ready to take you home in a few.”
“Don’t rush on my account.” She said softly and turned back to her breakfast.
The last thing Steve heard, as he headed down the hallway to take a shower, was Clint asking her if she wanted anything else. His mind raced with thoughts of her. She was in last night’s clothes and she still looked beautiful. He wondered if she always looked this good in the morning and if she’d look even better in his shirt. He cursed under his breath as he let the hot water run over him. He shouldn’t be thinking like that. He didn’t even know her, what with her secrets and all. Her mystery husband or whatever the heck was going on with that.  All he had to do was get through the ride home and then he’d be done with her. Right?
Her purse was already on her shoulder and she was standing by the door when he stepped out from the back hallway. He didn’t say anything to her, just traded her purse for a helmet and opened the door for her. They walked across the gravel to his cherry red Harley. After he put her purse in his saddle bag, he turned the key and let the engine roar to life.  She tried to hide it but Steve saw her swallow hard and noticed her breathing quickened as she swung her leg over behind him. She grabbed his Kutte at the arms and gripped so tight he almost laughed.
“Gotta loosen up or I can’t use my arms right.” He smirked, knowing she couldn’t see him. It was always obvious when someone was taking their first ride.
“Sorry,” Was muttered from her helmet as she moved her hands to grip around his chest. Her hold wasn’t any lighter and Steve grinned knowing she was so desperate to hold on to him.
No. She was married. He just needed to drop her off and move on.
Steve shook his head and heeled the kickstand, knocking it off the gravel driveway and into its spot under the bike. He revved the engine and she grabbed even tighter.
The ride went by quicker than he wanted but if he had to choose a highlight it would be when he’d tap her hands at every stoplight asking her to relax her grip only for it to be like a Boa again when the light turned green.
He pulled up to the sidewalk in front of her building and relaxed in his seat. There was something about just sitting on his bike that put him at ease, which he needed since she was driving him crazy.
“You’re boyfriend home or do I need to walk you up?” He asked when she handed him his helmet back. She chewed on her lip as he handed her her purse back.
Y/N swayed and ran her finger over her rings. “I can make it from here.”
“That’s not what I asked.” Steve couldn’t help the sharp tone in his voice but he felt bad
about it.
She tensed and scowled. “That’s really none of your business. Thanks for taking me home. Drive safe.” She turned on her heal and headed up the short flight of stairs to her door. She opened it and shut it quickly.
Steve shook his head and scoffed. He secured the extra helmet and was just about to turn the key when he heard her scream. He jumped off his bike and ran up the steps, kicking the door open as he went. He pulled a knife out of his pocket and prepared himself for a fight.
“Y/N!” Steve’s heart was pounding in his chest but he kept a level head. Her whole house was trashed. There were wires sticking out from the walls where a TV would have been, the kitchen was a mess with broken plates and silverware on the floor and down a short hall all the pictures on the wall had either been disturbed or busted.
“In here,” Y/N’s voice sounded more defeated than alarmed.
Steve rounded the corner and found Y/N sitting on her knees in her wrecked bedroom. She cradled an empty box in her hand.
Knowing she was safe, he left her to make sure the house was empty. When he came back, she was sitting on her bed sobbing.
 “Are you okay?” He asked.
“Do I look okay?!” She snapped. “It’s all gone! Everything I had left is gone.”
Steve didn’t understand. “It’s just stuff. It could have been worse, you could have been home and whoever did this could have hurt you. TV’s can be replaced, you-”
“I don’t care about the TV’s!” She looked genuinely offended. “All I had left of Danny was in this box. All the most important things are gone now. I have nothing left of him, now.” A sob ripped through her and she burst into tears again.
Steve finally had some more pieces to her puzzle. She did have a husband but, he was gone. Dead, Steve assumed by her grief.
Silently, he backed out of her room and stepped out the front door to make a call.  The phone only rang twice.
 “You good?” Bucky answered.
“We’re fine but her house got broken into. She’s a mess.” He filled in quickly.
He heard Nat in the background shout, “What?”
“Yeah, textbook robbery. Electronics and small appliances are gone, including most of her jewelry. But she’s real upset about this one box. I think it used to keep her old man’s stuff.”
“Did you clear the house?” Bucky sounded alert but relaxed.
 “Yeah, it's clear.”
“I'm sending Clint and Sam to you.” Bucky said and Steve could hear him throw a set of keys. “They're bringing the truck.”
 Steve nodded. “Okay.”
“Nat wants her here.” Steve could tell Bucky was looking at his wife and relaying the order.
“I'll do my best.” Steve didn’t think he could convince her to come back to the compound.
A  clatter on the phone and Nat's voice came through. “Let me talk to her.” She said and her concern was audible.
“Yes ma'am,” Steve walked back inside and found Y/N sweeping up the glass from her shattered coffee table that littered the entire living room. “It's for you.” He held the phone out to her.
She sighed and put her broom down. She took the phone and bit her lip before she put it to her ear. “Hello?”
Steve could hear the faint tone of Nat's voice, although he couldn't make out what she was saying.
 “Yeah, I'm fine…no, I don't...I don’t want to-...I should really stay and clean up…”
Whatever Nat said next caused tears to prick at Y/N's eyes. She wiped them before they could fall and sniffed. Steve felt like he was invading and looked at the floor, kicking around a few shards of glass.
“Yeah, okay, but just a few nights.” Y/N tried to compose herself. “Okay...Sure. Thank you.” She extended the phone back to him and wiped her eyes again.
“Hey,” Steve said, nodding to Y/N as she tried to muster a smile.
“She’s going to pack up.” Nat spoke softly. Steve watched Y/N head back down the hall to her room. “I'm sending a few prospects with Clint and Sam. They're gonna clean her house up and stay there over the next few nights to make sure no one messes with it again.”
Bucky came back on. “How fast can you get her out of there? She might not take to kindly to a bunch of strange men coming over after this.”
“We can be out in thirty. I’ll make Sam bring her bag back..”
“Good call,” Bucky said. “Ride safe.”
“Always do.” And Steve hung up.

WHY DO I STILL » STILES STILINSKI » FOUR
MASTERLIST
TRAILER

✧☾✧
HAVEN JUMPED, STARTLED BY THE TEEN WOLF WHO STOPPED IN FRONT OF HER
"Scott?" she asked, weaving through other students and approaching her friend.
He had slammed into a locker, one whose owner she knew. She saw the dent he left, but that was the least of her troubles. He was panting, trying to control his breathing. She leaned against the locker next to him, placing a hand on his back, rubbing near his shoulder blade.
"Scott, breathe," she whispered comfortingly, running a hand through his hair.
Stiles stopped behind them, looking at how calm Haven was trying to get Scott settled, but he pulled her towards him when Scott punched the locker off of its hinges. Haven's eyes went wide, her shoulders tense while Stiles held her waist.
"You okay?" Stiles whispered to her, and she nodded, looking at him and then his hands, pulling them off of her waist and stepping away from him, her cheeks red.
Stiles was taken aback from it, wondering why she was so quick to move out of his grasp. He also wondered how she had beeb getting to school considering she texted him saying she didn't need a ride anymore earlier that week.
Haven looked around, noticing that no one saw Scott punch a locker off of its hinges. People really were in their own worlds.
"Scott," she said softly, taking a step towards him as he started to back up, but she didn't go after him when she saw him back right into Allison.
She walked away, Stiles going with her when they saw Jackson coming towards his locker.
✧☾✧
The trio walked into the cafeteria, finding a table to sit at. Scott said across from Stiles and Haven, talking about how his "dream" the other night must have not been an actual dream.
"Something happened last night, and I can't remember what," Scott said.
"What makes you so sure that Derek even has all the answers?" Stiles asked.
"Because," he exclaimed, emphasizing the first word. "During the full moon he wasn't changed. He was in total control while I was running around in the middle of the night attacking some totally innocent guy!"
"You don't know that."
"I don't not know it... I can't go out with Allison. I have to cancel."
"No, you're not cancelling, okay? You can't just cancel your entire life. We'll figure it out."
Haven looked at them confusedly.
"You'd be in the loop if I had picked you up this morning," Stiles said. "So... whose been taking you to school?"
A tray got put on their table, earning a gawking stare from Stiles as he looked at whose tray it was.
"Figure what out?" Lydia asked.
"Ha," Stiles let out a breathe with a smile.
Lydia looked at Haven, asking, "We still getting coffee after school?"
Stiles looked between the two girls, realizing who was Haven's new driver to and from school, since for some reason, it hadn't been him.
"Yeah, of course," Haven smiled.
As the rest of her clique seemed to find seats around the trio, Stiles leaned in towards Scott, asking, "Why is she sitting with us?"
Scott was speechless, no words coming out of his mouth as he shook his head and shrugged. He then looked up, moving his jacket so Allison could sit in the chair next to him.
Jackson got there, telling the guy sitting in the end chair next to Lydia to get up.
"How come you never ask Danny to get up?" the guy asked.
Well, he technically didn't ask you, he told you to move, Haven thought.
"Because I don't stare at his girlfriend's coin slot," replied Danny.
As Jackson sat down, Scott glared at him.
"So, I hear they're saying its some sort of animal attack," Danny announced to the group. "Probably a cougar."
"I heard mountain lion," Jackson said, earning rapid blinking from Haven.
That's what he just said... she thought.
"A cougar is a mountain lion," Lydia said, and when Jackson gave her a sideways glance, she said, "... Isn't it?"
"Who cares?" was Jackson's response. "The guy's probably some homeless tweaker who's gonna die anyway."
"Actually, I just found out who it is," Stiles said.
Haven leaned over his shoulder, placing her chin on his arm as she looked down at his phone, looking at whatever he was looking at. He extended his hands so that everyone could look down at his phone, playing a news clip.
"I know this guy," Scott said, and Haven got off of Stiles's arm when she noticed Scott's small smile at them.
"You do?" Allison asked.
"Yeah, when I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver," he stated.
"Can we talk about something slightly more fun please?" Lydia asked. "Like, oh, where are we going tomorrow night?"
Allison and Scott looked at her quickly, confused by the question.
"You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night, right?"
Haven and Stiles winced at the words 'hanging out.'
"Um... we were thinking of what we were gonna do," Allison said.
"Well, I am not sitting home again watching lacrosse videos, so if the six of us are hanging out, we are doing something fun," she said.
"Six of us?" Scott questioned. "H-hanging out?"
"Haven and Jeep boy," Lydia said, pointing to Stiles and Haven.
Scott turned to Allison, asking, "Do you wanna hang out, like us and them?"
Awkwardly, Allison said, "Yeah, I guess. Sounds fun."
"You know what else sounds fun?" Jackson asked, picking up a fork. "Stabbing myself in the face with this fork."
"That does sound fun, you're right," Haven said with a fake smile, rolling her eyes when she glanced back down at her food.
Stiles tried to stifle his laughter.
✧☾✧
"How did I get dragged into going bowling with a bunch of couples?" Haven asked her mom, standing in front of her open closet as she picked out an outfit.
"It sounds like your friend Lydia basically set up a triple date," Mrs. Salazar pointed out. "Scott and this Allison girl, Lydia and her boyfriend, you and—."
Haven fake gagged, making a disgusted face. "Don't you dare finish that sentence."
"What? Stiles is a nice boy!" reasoned Mrs. Salazar. "And you missed your chance with Scott."
"Sometimes I regret also telling you that I like Scott," sighed Haven. "You and Stiles are always using this crush against me!"
"Scott came by the hospital last night," Mrs. Salazar said. "Brought Melissa and I dinner."
"Both of you?"
"He tends to," shrugged Mrs. Salazar. "When he brings his mom something and I'm on shift, he'll get me something, too. She told him he wasn't getting the car since there's a curfew. I guess I'm just a bad mom letting you go. But then again, I am Team Stiles."
"Yes, mother, as you have been declaring since I told you about my crush on Scott."
"You and Stiles are just adorable!"
"And this is why I feel uncomfortable being so close to him now."
Haven laughed, pulling out a top and jeans, throwing them onto her bed. She looked at her mom, silently telling her to get out.
"I'm your mother! You can change with me here."
She looked between her mom and the door.
"Fine, fine, I'm gone."
✧☾✧
"So... we really just came along to watch our crushes be on dates with other people?" Stiles whispered, rolling his eyes when Jackson came behind Lydia, helping her bowl.
"You came to watch your crush. But I told you, I am over Scott," she said, standing up to grab her bowling ball when her turn came up.
Everyone was doing fairly well other than Scott, making his friends cringe for him from their seats.
"Do you want anything to drink? Eat?" Stiles asked her, pointing back at the cafe within the bowling alley.
"I am always up for food," she nodded.
"We're gonna get food," Stiles informed them, sighing when he realized Scott and Jackson were too busy bickering to notice, so they just slipped away to get something to eat without them.
As they waited for their food at a table, they both fidgeted in their own ways. Haven was messing with her nails while Stiles tapped his foot rapidly.
"So, why have you, uh, why has Lydia been taking you to school?" Stiles asked her.
"I dunno," she shrugged. "Girl talk is nice sometimes."
"Talking about Jackson all day is nice?" Stiles quirked up an eyebrow.
"She doesn't talk about Jackson all day," Haven shook her head.
"I know," Stiles stated. "She's smart, she just likes to pretend she isn't."
"Isn't that cute," Haven said, squinting her eyes at him. "You really do pay attention, don't you?"
"I pay attention to the people I care about," he shrugged, fumbling with the receipt in his hands. "Just like I paid attention to how you've been detaching yourself from us."
"Stiles..." she sighed, but then she admitted, "I don't mean to detach myself, I'm just... it's nice to not be scared all of the time."
"It's fine," he brushed it off. "This whole teen wolf thing is scary, you didn't sign up for it."
"I didn't need to sign up for it," she said. "You two are my friends. We're in this wild life together... But if we all start dropping and becoming wolves, I refuse to be one. I will stay human even if it kills me."
✧☾✧
As they pulled up to Stiles's house, they saw Noah Stilinski in his Sheriff's uniform, making his way to his car.
"Dad?" Stiles called, not even getting fully out of his car as he stepped out of it, looking at his dad over the roof of his car. "Where are you going?"
"Hospital," Sheriff Stilinski responded, sending a small wave and smile at the girl in his son's passenger seat as he unlocked his own car. "The bus driver succumbed to his wounds. There's a curfew, you get her home, son."
Stiles got back into the car, shutting the door as both teenagers stared forward with open jaws. They watched as the Sheriff took off before Stiles put back on his own seatbelt, starting his car back up.
"I guess ice cream and movies are gonna need to take a rain check," Stiles told Haven, and she nodded as he pulled out of the street.
"We're not going to my house, right?" Haven asked.
"Nope," Stiles said, turning away from the direction they'd have to drive to take her home.
She nodded. "Just checking."
They tried to be quiet as they parked in front of the McCall house, using the tree to get to the rooftop near Scott's bedroom window.
Stiles helped Haven through the open window, pulling her through after he got inside himself. They saw Melissa McCall pick up a baseball bat, ready to swing at them. Stiles got on top of Haven, putting a hand out in defense.
"Woah, woah, wait!" he yelled as Melissa screamed.
Then, all three of them started screaming.
"Stiles, Haven, what the hell are you two doing here?!" exclaimed Melissa.
"What are we doing?" Stiles yelled back. "God, do either of you even play baseball?"
"Is that my bat?" Haven asked, examining it.
"Why would you have a baseball bat?" Stiles asked, exasperated.
"Stole Kaeden's favorite one when he broke up with me?" she stated, ending it with a high note to pretend it was a question.
"You are psychopathic," Scott said.
The lights turned on and Scott walked in.
"Can you please tell your friends to use the front door," Melissa asked Scott.
"But we lock the front door," Scott replied. "They wouldn't be able to get in."
"Yeah, exactly," Melissa said. "And, by the way, do either of you three care that there's a police enforced curfew?"
"No," they chorused.
"No. All right then," Melissa said. "Well, you know what? That's about enough parenting for me for one night. So, good night. Haven, I am calling your mom."
"She knows I'm here!" Haven yelled after Melissa as she walked out.
Stiles sighed, and Scott pulled out a chair.
"What?"
"My dad left for the hospital around the time Haven and I got back to my place."
"Why were guy two going back to your place?" Scott asked.
"It's the bus driver," Stiles continued, ignoring Scott's question. "They said he succumbed to his wounds."
"Succumbed?"
"Scott... he's dead," Haven said softly.
✧☾✧
Haven broke out in a run after Scott, something she realized she's been doing a lot lately. She almost tripped on her own feet, following Scott into the burned Hale house.
"Derek! I know you're here! I know what you did!" Scott yelled.
An echoing voice responded, "I didn't do anything."
Scott ventured further as Haven stayed at the front door.
"You killed him!" Scott accused, going up the stairs.
"He died."
"Like your sister died?"
"My sister was missing. I came here looking for her."
"You found her."
"I found her in pieces. Being used as bait to catch me!"
"I think you killed them both," Scott accused. "I'm gonna tell everyone."
"Scott," Haven said in a warning tone.
"Get your little girlfriend out of here," Derek said.
"Haven's not my girlfriend," Scott replied, but he turned around. "Hav. Go wait in the car with Stiles."
She didn't move though, looking at the boy she claimed not to still be in love with. Fear was coursing through her, but she didn't want to not be there for him.
"You know, Haven, wolves can smell emotions if they tried," Derek's voice sounded, and her eyes widened. "Your love for Scott is bigger than your fear, but you're going to have to do as he says."
Scott didn't seem to realize what kind of love Derek was talking about when he sent her a pleading look, and she gulped, turning on her heels and making a run for Roscoe.

A Masked Teen: Invited, Chapter 13
Sunrise filtered through the window of Katelyn's empty bedroom. After last night's "therapy"; Katelyn sought a warm shower.
Katelyn stood in the shower while a stream of warm water rained down upon her skin. Her head tilted down, her eyes closed and her hands twirling the locks of her hair. To her, last night's dream was the most lucid and memorable she ever had. She meditated on what her other-self told her; we can do amazing things together...or you can stop using us altogether. She contemplated both options:
If she stopped wearing it she can go back to her previous life. On the other hand, what would happen if someone else don the mask... not all wearers are mentally stable.
But, Katelyn admitted life was more fun with it. Just the fleeting thought of trying it on again started to warm her core and made her shake with excitement. It was liberating to do whatever she wanted regardless of how impossible it may seem. And each time she tried it on, it just further increased her tolerance to its magic; making subsequent outings more and more outrageous. Then again, it did come with some consequences like hurting Maria; or the byproduct of hurting Danny...
"KAT, ARE YOU STILL IN THE SHOWER?" her mom yelled through the bathroom door.
"Crap. Gotta get going..." she whispered to herself.
===
As Katelyn walked to school, she thought through some ground rules with the mask. She would start by limiting herself to only using it at night; there might be a way to wear it during the day but she didn't want to draw unneeded attention. And it was all hers; nobody else was going to wear it... at least without her permission.
But she also wanted to be able to somewhat control it. She thought back to when she wore it before going after Maria. She didn't quite have a solid plan but it seemed like her other self knew what to do. Maybe she just needed to tell herself what she wanted done and let her alter ego figure it out...
"Hey!" Danny called to Katelyn; breaking her train of thought.
"Hi Danny. How are you feeling?"
He sighed, "Better. Maria is gonna be out of the hospital on Monday but..." he paused and looked into her eyes, "I'm thinking of taking a break from her."
Katelyn's hands started getting clammy.
Danny continued, "So a couple of my friends are gonna visit my Uncle's place down in Pebble Beach this weekend. You're welcome to join."
"Sure..." Katelyn stuttered.
"Cool. I'll text you the details."
===
Back at Katelyn's home. Her mom was on the phone talking to Mrs. Shannon, Danny's Mom.
"Nice to speak to you too. Bye." Katelyn's mom finished and ended her call.
"So...?" Katelyn asked.
"Let me talk with Dad... but I'm okay with you having a sleepover with your friends." Katelyn's mom responded.
"Cool. Thanks Mom, I'll start packing!" And with that Katelyn headed to her room.
"I knew it'll all work out" Katelyn's mom thought to herself.
Katelyn opened the door to her room and started packing her suitcase. Katelyn was a bit anxious to party with the cool kids; it was her first real non-family party ever since moving to California. She paused, if she was going away from home she didn't want to risk anyone else discovering the mask; she needed to keep it close by. She walked to her closet and opened her lockbox. Horror washed over Katelyn; the mask was missing.
She quickly dropped the box and started frantically looking around her room. Did her parents or her brother look through her stuff? Did she leave it somewhere? She swore that she kept it...
She looked over to her open suitcase. "You cheeky devil" she thought to herself. The mask sat on top of a pile lingerie in her suitcase; face down. Katelyn saw a streak of green wash over the interior almost pleading to take it along with her.
She smiled and took the magic slab of wood and tucked it away at the bottom of her suitcase. She didn't know if she would use it with Danny's friends but it seemed that the mask read her mind and invited itself to the party.
=====
What mischief will she get into this time with a group of teens away from home?

Could you write about Dan trying to make the reader a fancy homemade dinner, but messing it up terribly because he can't cook?
A/N: Okay, so this is totally cute, and something I totally think Dan would do. I don’t know why, but I can’t imagine him as the best cook; he does try really hard though, and when he does, it shows ! Thank you so much for sending this in and letting me indulge in this sweet prompt. Heart you !♡
WHERE THERE’S SMOKE
Walking in through the door, you smelt it before you saw it, something burning. It was a surprise, to say the least - you had made sure to turn everything off before leaving for the day - but the surprise very quickly morphed into panic, making you drop your bag and slam the door, quickly walking inside and into the kitchen. The noise must have spooked him, because when you came to the doorway, there was Dan, hair pulled back and eyes wide, staring at you with a fine mixture of confusion and fright on his face. “What’s burning?” Your voice had pitched into worry, not quite registering the fact that there was also a wooden spoon in his hand, and the stove was being manned. “Uh… Nothing anymore, ” he responded slowly, blinking. “Just don’t look in the sink.” Blinking as well, you relaxed when he begun to laugh. Approaching him, you followed his instruction to not look in the sink, passing it and the strong smell of burning.Maybe you sounded like a child when you asked, but the question was out before you could stop it. “What’re you doing?” The smile was there too, growing with each footstep, not stopping when you ended up at his side. “Cooking,” he told you easily, not looking from the skillet in front of him. A pause. “Why?” You looked to him, and he laughed. Normally you were the one who cooked, Dan having better luck turning things into charcoal than anything edible. “Why not?” He shrugged his thin shoulders. Looking back to the contents in front of him, you realized just what he was making - veggies in a skillet, sizzling on a low heat and speckled in brown. There was also something in the stove - the light inside it was on - but when you tilted your head, he told you, “Don’t look! It’s a surprise.” You laughed too, scooting away and finding a seat on one of the counter tops.
For a few moments, you let him do his thing, then you asked again, “So, what’s the occasion?” He glanced over at you. “Usually when we eat homemade, I cook. And it’s not our anniversary, or either of our birthdays…” You trailed off, thinking. “Did something good happen at work?” When you perked up at the thought, he chuckled. “Nope.” You deflated, fake-pouting for dramatic effect. “Just wanted to do something special for you.” The statement made your chest warm. “Can I ask what’s in the sink?” A long pause. “It was chicken.” Ouch.Putting a lid on the skillet and turning the stovetop dial, Dan finally turned to you. “All right. Bedroom. C’mon.” Putting down the spoon, he walked over, took your hand, tugged you off the counter, and lead you into your shared room. “Let’s get changed.” Your eyebrows raised. Changed? “It’s just dinner, Dan,” you replied slowly as he let go of your hand. Looking back at you, eyes soft and smile gentle, he replied, “Yeah, but it doesn’t have to be just dinner.” He shrugged one shoulder, peeling his t-shirt off and changing into a button-up. To say all of this was strange was an understatement, but it was sweet. It wasn’t often the two of you did special stuff like this, especially unprompted, so it was best for you to just roll with it. Changing from your normal attire into one of your prettier dresses, the only thing the two of you opted not to do was put on shoes, keeping to just your socks. When you were both finished, you looked at each other and smiled. “You look very handsome,” you complimented as he held his thin arm out for you to take. Winding yours and his together, he told you, “And you look absolutely gorgeous.”Leading you out into the living area, you noticed just then what he had done to the sitting area. The little end table had been set up with candle and two wine glasses, and there were two small cushions on the floor, obviously for the two of you. I must’ve missed this on the way in, you realized, taken aback by the thought that went into this. “Go ahead and get comfy. I’ll be out in just a sec.” With a kiss to your temple, he let go of your arm, going back to the kitchen to finish preparing.
Walking a little closer to the setup, you were almost afraid to sit down, all of it looking very pretty and fancy. The candles hadn’t been lit yet, but there was a box of matches sitting near the edge of the table. Looking over your shoulder, you decided to help out a little bit as well. Picking up the matchbox, you pulled a little stick out, ran it across the strip, and ignited the first two candle wicks. You did it again for the last three, all without burning yourself, and blew it out with a triumphant smile.“Shit!”Looking over to the doorway, you waited for a moment, then called back, “Dan?” Silence. “You okay?” More silence. Putting down the matchbox, you walked over and into the doorway of the kitchen, smoke and heat a wall between you and Dan, who was caught somewhere in the middle of it. It hadn’t gotten thick, but it was enough to make you cough just a bit as you waded in further. The veggies that he had been cooking were reduced to shriveled up bits, and even though he was waving at them violently with a paper plate, there was no salvaging it. “I swear I turned off the heat!” It was audible, his upset, his disappointment. “Danny - Dan - Hey -” Catching his wrist in your hand, he looked over at you, dark eyes watery (from the smoke or from his mistake, you couldn’t tell). “ It’s okay. We’ll open some windows. Check on whatever’s in the oven. We’ll be okay.” With a nod, you let him go, opening the few windows you had in the apartment. It was chilly outside, but the breeze made it easier; you blew out the candles so as not to cause any more of a hazard, and walked back into the fray.
He was shutting the oven as you walked in, and you asked, “So, what’s the status?” Looking over, that pained look hadn’t quite disappeared from his face, even when he replied, “Okay.” He stood. “Dessert is almost done.” Oh. You faltered. “What’re we having?” you asked, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction. “I made brownies, with walnuts in them. Like you like,” he replied, voice dropping to a mutter. Your chest got all warm again. “Oh, Danny...” Closing the distance, you set a hand on his cheek. “It’s okay. We’re okay. So you burned dinner-” He cut you off by adding, “Twice,”, but you continued on. “-But it’s okay. We’ve still got wine, and brownies. I love your brownies.” You smiled a little. “I love you so much. No one had ever made me dinner before, much less tried as hard as you did.” He was coming back around, looking at you, eyes puppy-dog, hand finding your free one. “I’ve got our takeout place on speed-dial. And we’ll save the wine for the brownies. Yeah?” He nodded a little. Leaning in, you kissed him, gentle and sweet.“You okay, lovely?” Turning the nickname on him made him smile a little more. “I am now, yeah.” He leaned in and kissed you again, longer this time, the breeze from outside bringing in a whole new night of possibilities.

x Secrets of The Lake: The Company of Misery and Pain
Tumblr media
{ Chapter 4: Slight Nsfw }
Word Count: 3730
P.s: the nsfw is only in the beginning but it ends in stabbing like nothing graphic. Also would anyone like to be tagged when i update?
He doesn’t remember how he got here, or even where here was but it was familiar and felt like home. It was warm by the fire that lit up the room in feverish reds and oranges. He could feel his body gaining back its energy and his core being restored the longer the warmth surrounded him. In the comfortable bliss, he didn’t notice the pair of arms snaking across his torso until they were wrapped around his neck. His eyes shot open but he was quickly buried in the shallow of someone’s neck in a strong embrace. That’s when he felt the pressure of a body on top of his pushing down. He hadn’t registered the rocking motion against his hips until he heard the broken moan in his ear. Who? It was like a siren's call that made him clasp his hands on the body atop of him. He doesn’t remember how any of this started nor did he care to stop it. The pleasure he felt was intoxicating and drowned out all of his logical senses telling him to stop. He clung to her breathlessly as he felt his chest start to burn, he was now chasing this ghostly high throughout his entire body.
“Vlad…” The voice called his name in desperation, begging him to continue and singing for all those to hear. Her voice was all he ever wanted to hear, yet he had never heard her like this at all. What? Nails dug into his shoulders and down his back leaving trails of red tracks and intricate designs. It stung like lashes but it fueled him even more as he shifted to bite her neck. Her cry sounded more surprised than pleasurable which worried him for some reason. Before he could pull away to ask if she was alright she pulled him in again and slammed down at just the right angle to distract him once more.
“Fu-fiddlesticks,” He caught himself saying and pulled her down against him as close as possible. He hadn’t felt this in god knows how long and he refused to allow it to fade away. Once again her nails found his back and circled around his left shoulder blade. It tickled a bit and he chuckled into her, daring to take another bite of her lovely dark skin.
Vlad had very much given in to this fantasy of whoever he had with him. Surely, there was no harm in enjoying a fit of passion in comfortable privacy. The hands around his neck now played in his hair combing out soft tangles. But when their hand pulled back with a few loose strands he peeked and saw how dark they were. ‘My hair hasn't been that way since-’ his thoughts were cut short as he felt the jerking motion of his body as the hilt of a blade buried itself inside him. Then followed a burning, searing heat pooling and dripping down before pain came from just under his left shoulder.
Vlad shot up from the bed choking back a scream of utter pain as his back still felt attacked. He was sweating and panting as he stumbled to get out of the bed and head towards the adjacent bathroom. He made it to the mirror and looked himself over. He looked exhausted, his long silver hair was a mess as it hung into what was left of his ponytail and his eyes were lifeless. What left him speechless was a small patch of hair towards the right that had now turned jet black. He fumbled with the strands mesmerized and very confused. He hadn’t seen the darkness of his hair in almost 24 years, yet here it was. Vlad’s head began to hurt as everything that had happened flashed across his mind. He was nearly torn apart and crumbled down to nothing, Vlad knew what it was like to be badly beaten but never to the brink of existence. He gripped onto the sink to steady himself when he felt the sudden weakness in his legs.
He knew he passed out which meant Danny was the one to drag him all the way back home. Vlad felt embarrassed having to think about the young hero having to do so. After a moment of finding the strength to stand on his own again, Vlad pushed off the sink and headed towards the door of the room. He much preferred to be in the comforts of his own bedroom than the guest room. At this moment, Vlad cursed himself for being a rich bastard, the halls seemed to almost go on for miles. He had thought about trying to turn into Plasmius to hurry the journey along but he knew his powers were still in recovery. He was stuck in his normal human form until otherwise. When he finally made it to his room he heard talking coming a few doors down where Danielle’s room was. Who in the world was in his house? That’s when it hit him he was supposed to pick up Dani from Danny’s. Had Danny brought her home? Vlad slowly made his way towards the door and slowly pushed it open. Expecting Dani to be on her bed doing whatever she liked doing. Vlad found Danny instead looking out her window on the phone.
“Yeah no, Dani has to stay with me until all this is dealt with, not that she minds it. But Vlad still hasn’t woken up and it’s been three days and when he does I don’t think he’s going to be in the best of moods.” Three days? He had been unconscious for three days? Vlad swore it felt like a couple of hours from the time he fainted to now. He gripped his head when it started to pound again. Danny's ghost sense flew from his mouth and he turned around. “Hey, I gotta go, yeah he just woke up and the last thing I need is him dying on the floor. Talk to you later guys.” Danny hung up the phone and crossed his arms.
He gave Vlad a weak smile, Welcome back to the land of the living, feel like shit?”
“Language,” was all Vlad could retort with before he pulled back out of the room and headed towards his. Danny followed but had never actually been in Vlad’s bedroom before. He felt like he was invading privacy but if this was where they were going to talk, fine by him. Danny should have known it would be a mini apartment but he wasn’t expecting the gothic-like interior. Sam would feel like the dark goddess she was in this room and it made him snicker. Vlad sat in an armchair in front of an unlit fireplace and slumped down to get more comfortable. Danny frowned, sympathetic to the situation, he had been there before, he took the chair next to Vlad and waited for the other to speak first.
“Where do we even begin?” Vlad grumbled before dragging a hand down his face.
“Maybe with what Clockwork told you,” Danny answered. Vlad only nodded and forced himself to sit up straight and take a more proper position before he told Danny everything. Danny really wanted to crack a joke, tell Vlad that’s what he gets for all the years going after his mom, mock him for breaking a heart he knew nothing about, however, Danny kept silent and only nodded along. Vlad took long pauses between his explanations and side rambles when he felt himself getting worked up. It was just a lot to take in.
“So… do’ya know which ancestor she might be linked to?” Danny could see it on Vlad’s face the man was just as clueless as he was back at the lake.
“No idea, like I told you my family stayed in Europe the whole time then settled in Russia. I'm a second generation American, there would be no point in my family owning a servant of African descent in the German empire then losing everything and going to Russia. None of this makes sense.” Vlad’s brows knitted together and he mumbled a few curses under his breath.
“Maybe there was an ancestor that came overseas during the Mayflower or whatever and they never went back. So like now you have this distant relative that your family never kept up with and they did something bad and BAM angry ghost.” Danny could admit he was a bit dramatic with his explanation, the hands in the air waving back and forth near the end was a bit much. But he had a point, a strong point, those that went overseas tended to be forgotten by the main family if the root of the tree stayed put. Vlad had many cousins he knew nothing about simply because they lived in other European countries. This didn’t feel like a distant cousin ancestor problem though, Vlad could feel that it was heavily tied to his main bloodline.
“I would agree with you, Daniel, but something tells me this is more within my family than some twice removed cousin.” Vlad looked up at the boy weakly. Danny huffed and nodded before propping his chin upon his hand. “I have access to my complete family records,” Vlad began again which made Danny perk up a bit. “I could try to trace back and see if anyone had travelled over during that time and had maybe gone back. I heavily doubt it but right now that’s all we have.”
“Better than nothing.” Danny tried to sound optimistic but he knew it failed. Vlad only nodded in agreement before staring off into the distance once again thinking. His thoughts were clouded between checking his family records but also the dream he had earlier. Danny felt the room become uncomfortably silent and knew it was time to leave Vlad alone.
As Danny got to his feet he scratched the back of his head and asked, “So do you need anything? I’ve kinda been babysitting you while you've been out, but don’t expect me to wear some butler outfit.” Vlad lightly chuckled and it made Danny feel a bit better.
“You can’t even tie a tie without throwing a fit, but anyways no I’m fine, you may go, Daniel.”
“M’kay. Let me know what you find.” Danny turned ghost and shot through the floor to get to Vlad’s portal so he could get back home. Vlad watched him leave then sighed before snapping his fingers for a ghost maid to appear.
“Yes, Master?”
“Something heavy, no ice.” Vlad gave his order and the maid was fading away to retrieve it. A drink, a drink was what he needed even if his body was still in recovery.

Are You Watching Closely?  2: Sleight of Hand
Tumblr media
Jack Wilder x Reader (Dylan’s Niece)
Part: One
Words: 1511
Summary: After introducing you to the rest of the Horseman, Dylan leaves you with them so you can get to know each other and hopefully to relieve the new tension. Despite being the newcomer, you quickly become friends with the youngest- and definitely most handsome- Horseman; Jack Wilder.
Note: I am so glad so many of you have liked this story! I love writing the family aspect with Dylan and the new budding relationship with Jack. Plus this gives me an excuse to keep rewatching the movies! (I also wanted to give Jack a bit of a backstory, so I took some creative liberty and made one up. Hope you like it)
The three men stared at you in shock. You shifted uncomfortably. This was such a bad idea. Dylan clapped his hands together to draw their attention back to him.
“Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we have a new opportunity coming up.”
“Are you serious man?” Jack exclaimed. “After Henley left you said I could get back on stage again. Not someone who just showed up.” You tried not to take any offense to his words. Mainly because he was right; it wasn’t fair that he has to stay behind while you rose to the top with the other boys.
“I told you I’d think about it, and I have,” Dylan stated. “And I really need you behind the scenes a little longer.”
“Dylan, come on. I’ve been behind the scenes my whole life.” Jack sighed and you felt another pang of guilt. You shot Dylan a dark look and he narrowed his eyes.
“Well,” Dylan rubbed his eyes. “I am going to let you all mingle and get to know each other while I get all of the plans for your next performance gathered and sorted, okay?” Your eyes widened.
“You’re just leaving me here?” You hissed.
“Don’t worry sweetheart.” Merritt chuckled. “We won’t bite.” Danny rolled his eyes. “Well, he might.”
“I will see you all later.” Dylan aimed the statement at you, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Danny glared at you with suspicion. You shied away from him, trying not to aggravate him more than you already had. Dylan left without another word and you felt the burning stares from the three men around you. You smiled awkwardly.
“Hi.”
The apartment was nice for a person running from the law. The boys had drawn straws to determine who you would be staying with, which you had to admit hurt. It was like being the one nobody wanted on their team in high school. Part of you regretted not taking Dylan up on his offer to find you your own place. You had said you should get to know the guys if you were going to be stuck with them. Now you wanted nothing more than to disappear in the biggest bubble bath ever. Jack threw himself onto his couch and you stood in the doorway.
“You can come in.” He said, his tone annoyed and tired. You rolled your suitcase behind you, sitting down in a large leather chair. You blew out a long breath, looking everywhere but him. Of course you had to be staying with the- well your nickname for him was the Hot Horseman.
“Look,” You sighed, “I don’t want me to be here either, and I get why you guys don’t like me. But I’m just as stuck as you are, okay?” You slammed your mouth shut. You hadn’t actually meant to say all of that, it just sort of came out. Jack’s expression softened.
“Danny can really be a dick, huh?” He sat up, leaning forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “I guess I didn’t give the most gracious of welcomes either.”
“I just…” You struggled for something to say. “I just feel awful. I mean, here you are, this super talented guy and Dylan won’t let you back on. Instead, he’s brought me in, a nobody from New Jersey who is mediocre at best.”
“Hey,” He began, inching slightly closer to you. “If Dylan thinks you’re good, then you’re good. Never doubt your own abilities.” He thought for a minute and stood. “Well, Miss Y/N, newly initiated member of the Horseman,” He held out his hand. “Follow me.”
He lead you down a hallway and out of the window leading out to the fire escape. The sky was clear, with stars just starting to appear in the sea of greyish-blue. You gazed up at them, remembering how you and your mom would lie up on the roof of your tiny house and snack on chips and ice cream all night, just looking up at the stars. That was before she got sick.
“Whenever I need to think, I always come out here.” Jack pulled his hood over his head in case anyone happened to look up at the two of you. “Reminds me of the little freedom I have left.” He pointed up at the group of stars. “You see that one? My dad used to teach me the constellations. He would tell me all of their stories and make me feel like I was a part of them.”
“My mom always told me that the stars were where all of the magic came from.” You laughed lightly. “She was a magician too. Before she…” Your voice trailed off.
“I'm sorry.” Jack looked at you sincerely. “My parents died when I was 16. Car accident.” You stood there, staring at each other under the stars for what felt like hours. Your fear of being a Horseman slowly started to dwindle. Instinctively, he pulled a deck of cards out of his pocket and flipped them over one another. His hands moved quickly and expertly, crisscrossing cards, flinging them up in the air and snatching them back again. It was hypnotizing.
“Do you work with cards?” He wondered, halting his movements, offering the deck to you. You shrugged.
“I used to. My uncle would teach me all kinds of tricks. He would always tell me; ‘The closer you look’-”
“The less you see.” Jack smirked. “So he’s a magician too?” You chuckled.
“He prefers the term; specialist.” As if on cue, your phone started to buzz in your pocket. Dylan’s picture flashed on the screen. You sighed. “I have to take this.” You slid your thumb across the screen and climbed back into the apartment, leaving Jack still gazing up at the sky.
“Hey, I just wanted to ask how it’s going with the guys.” Dylan held the phone between his ear and shoulder as he unlocked the door to his own apartment. You rolled your eyes.
“It’s fine. I’m staying with Jack and he’s actually pretty nice.” You felt your gaze rise up to the boy outside, blush rushing to your cheeks as he turned back and grinned at you.
“Wait, you’re Jack? Only Jack?”
“Yeah… why?”
“I thought that all of you would stay in the same place, you know, not with just one.” He tried to keep his protective-side voice from coming up, but he couldn’t help it. He had been fighting off boys since you were in middle school and now you were in an apartment alone with Jack Wilder.
“Do you honestly think these guys could survive living together?” You scoffed. He was doing the protective thing again like he always had when you were in high school. It drove you crazy. “Besides, what’s wrong with him?”
“Jack’s a nice kid but…” Dylan trailed off. He didn’t know much about Jack, but he knew a playboy when he saw one. He was afraid that you didn’t know what you were getting yourself into.
“Look, I have dealt with plenty of guys, okay? Your concern is sweet, but I can handle myself.” You told him goodnight and promised to see him in the morning before hanging up so he couldn’t refute. Jack smirked as you rejoined him. “What?”
“Nothing.” He snickered. “It’s just that you get this line between your eyebrows when you get frustrated.” He traced his finger over your forehead and you stepped away.
“It's getting late, maybe we should call it a night.”  You noticed his face fall for a second, but his grin bounced right back as he held up a card. The Jack of Hearts.
“You sure you don't want to brush up on your cardistry.” He winked and you felt your heart flutter. You tried to seem nonchalant as you took your favorite card from his hand flipped it between your fingers. You tossed it your other hand and grinned.
“I don't see why not.” You pressed your lips to the card, living a dark red mark from your lipstick. You climbed back through the window and Jack followed. As you reached the living room, you flung the card towards him, earning a nod of approval and a hint of an impressed smile. He flipped the card over his head and caught it behind his back with the other hand, shooting it back to you.
“You’re not too bad.” He commented, picking up a small remote and turning on his speakers. You let out a laugh as Frank Sinatra’s Witchcraft filled the room. It was one of your favorites.
“Nice to find another Frankie fan.” You did one final trick before making the card disappear. You strut back across the room towards him. “Now it’s time to call it a night, don’t you think?” You gave his chest a pat before walking off to grab your suitcase. Jack pulled the Jack of Hearts out of his jacket pocket, singing a line out with Sinatra.
“There’s no nicer witch than you!” He belted, vanishing off into his own bedroom.

Title: Home Word Count: 1714 Paring: Lawstien About: Danny has returned to Vancouver to help take care of her family, however she gets a little homesick and longs to return to Austria to be with her girlfriend, Carmilla AO3 Link
My bones are safe and my heart can rest Knowing it belongs to you My world is changed and it's cradled by The comfort that is you Oh my love, My head is reeling and I am running out of air I need to breathe in
Danny stood in front of the stove in her childhood home, absent-mindedly stirring the tomato sauce. She had only been home in Vancouver for a little over a week, but it felt like it had been an eternity. Usually, she loved coming home to hang out with her brother and the twins. But she didn't want to be home under these conditions. Danny swallowed a little as she replayed the memory of why she had to be here so suddenly.
A week and a half ago, while getting ready for a morning run, Danny got the dreaded phone call. At the moment she didn't think much of it, besides the fact that it was nearly eleven at night and her mother should be asleep.
Needless to say, Danny didn't go on her run that morning. She sat there in the edge of the couch, on the verge of a break down, yet so numb. It wasn't until Carmilla, her girlfriend, emerged from the bedroom, asking her what was wrong. When Carmilla placed her hands on Danny's cheek, her face full of worry, asking her repeatedly, that a wail ripped from Danny's throat and the tears fell from her eyes.
Her younger brother, Benny, was in the hospital.
She spent the rest of that day, with Carmilla by her side, as she helped Danny put a suitcase together.
Danny let out a soft sigh. And there was another reason why it felt like she had been home for far too long. She missed Carmilla. Carmilla had to stay in Austria with Fenrir, their husky. Her parents could only afford to fly Danny home, so she could help take care of her siblings.
Danny longed to be back in her tiny apartment. She yearned to be in bed with Carmilla: the vampire curled up against her, her head on her chest as she listened to Danny's steady heartbeat, with Carmilla’s arm securely around her waist and Fenrir across their feet. Her heart ached for the nonchaotic familiarity. But she knew that was selfish to want that at this moment. Her family needed her, she needed to be there for Benny, and she was going to stay as long as she had to. It was her duty to help them and care for her siblings, even if she felt like crumbling under the weight of the responsibility. It made her wish for the simpler days of defending the Silas campus from monsters.
At least monsters were easy. One could physically hurt them and release frustrations onto them. But Danny was helpless against the sickness that coursed through Benny’s body. She couldn't punch, stake, or burn the illness that was slowly killing her brother.
A light tug on the back of her shirt was enough to make Danny jump. She turned around to see the much too tall for her age, Katie. She stared blankly down at her, almost not registering who she was until she spoke.
“Danny, when are we going to eat?” She asked, her voice low and her eyes pleading, as if it would make the food appear faster. Danny flashed her sister a quick smile and reached forward to ruffle her bright red hair, a common trait in the Lawrence family.
“It's almost ready now, why don't you go set the table.” She suggested. Katie gave her a small nod and reached for the plates. Danny fet a pain in her heart when she started to pull out six plates.
“Honey, it's only you, Charlie, and me tonight. Mom and Dad are still out with Benny.” Danny tells her. She watched as her sister stopped and turned to her. The confused and broken hearted face of her nine year old sister was almost enough to make Danny cry. Almost.
“Why aren't they coming home?” She asked in a quiet voice. Danny freezes in a panic. Anxiety constricts her throat and she feels the nausea hitting her hard. How was she suppose to explain to her baby sister that her older brother had been diagnosed with late stage Lukemia? Why did it have to fall on her to tell her that Benny was probably not going to make it to his seventeenth birthday. How did anyone expect her to be faced with a situation like that, let alone know exactly how to handle it.
She swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to put on a brave face.
“Because Benny is really sick and Mom and Dad are there to make sure he's okay. I came home to make sure you 'n Charlie stay out of trouble.” She said, a soft smile playing at her lips as she gently nudged Katie. Her sister returned the smile, but it quickly fades.
“Is Benny going to be okay?” She asked. Danny cursed Zeus for making children so talkative. She adored her baby sister, but even she had her limits. Danny opened her mouth to stutter out some pathetic excuse, only when a loud bang from the living room interrupts her. She thanked Hera that she didn't have to continue this conversation with Katie.
“Charlie, what in Olympia are you doing?”
“Nothing!” He replied, all too quickly. Danny turned off the burner and moved the pot to the back of the stove, before going to investigate.
Upon entering the living room, she noticed that the bookshelf was overturned and contents had been spilt everywhere. Her eyes flicked up to Charlie, who was wrestling a book out of their scruffy mutt, Bear’s mouth. Danny sighed and turned the bookcase upright. Charlie successful rescued the book from their dog and tried to gather as many of them up as he could.
“How about we just clean them up after dinner, okay?” She said. He looked down at the pile of books, then slowly up to Danny and nodded, fully aware of his guilt. Danny smiled softly and kissed his temple. She couldn't help but chuckle at the way his face screwed up in annoyance, clearly not wanting any affection from his sister.
“Go on, give Bear his dinner and go take your seat.” She told him. He hurried off to the kitchen, Bear right at his heels. Danny sighed and straightened up. Yeah, monsters were much easier to deal with than the twins. She turned to go back to the kitchen, her stomach growling (she couldn't recall the last time she actually ate), when the doorbell rang. Bear, in a barking frenzy, bounded from the kitchen and barreled past Danny, nearly knocking her over.
She quickly regained her balance and her shoulders sag. All she wanted was to finally eat and to be left alone for a while.
“Bear, schweigen!” Danny ordered, her voice stern. He ceased his barking and looked back at her. With a huff he pushed off the window and padded back into the kitchen. Danny sighee and hurried to the door, opening it with a forced smile.
“Evening.” She greeted the postman. He gave her a smile and held out the electronic pad and pen.
“Evening, you just have to sign for a package.” Danny’s brows crease in confusion. She didn't remember her parents saying about expecting a package. But she signed it anyways, took the box from the man and thanked him. Her confusion only grew when she saw that it was addressed to her.
“Danny! We're starving!” Charlie's voice pulled her back to reality and she shook her head.
“Coming, I'm coming!” Danny called back, retreating into the kitchen. She placed the package on the counter. She scooped the spaghetti onto Katie and Charlie's plate and gave them permission to start eating without her.
She took the box and hurried to her room. Danny eased down onto the edge of her bed and made quick work of the tape. She pulled the flaps back to reveal a pair of blue socks with cartoon cats dressed as astronauts, a small black plush cat, and underneath both of them was a folded up blanket that instantly made her feel like she was back in Austria. She also spotted a small card tucked under the cat's paw and picked it up.
The front had a drawing of a cat stretched across someone's keyboard, with the words “You're my favorite person to annoy” written above the picture. A small, smile played at the corner of Danny's lips. She opened the card and instantly recognized the handwriting.
Daniele,
My favorite annoyance. I miss you more than you'll ever know, more than a vampire should miss a human. I long for the day you return home to me. The days drone on, feeling so much longer than they truly are. I can't help but be selfish in wanting you to return home, but the apartment feels empty without you here. I know your family needs you, and you want to be there for your brother. This can't be an easy thing to deal with. This is something, as an immortal, I could never fathom.
I can't wait for you to return, the stars aren't the same without you, nor are walks with Fen (who misses you deeply too). I hope this care pack helps with the stress. I even “gave up custody” of our favorite blanket for you. I made sure to let Fenrir lay on it.
Take care, be safe, and come home soon.
I love you, to the moon and back.
Carmilla
Danny kept staring down at the letter, quickly becoming unable to reread the words between the tears that stung her eyes. She was grinning that dorky grin, the one that Carmilla always said she hated, but secretly adored. Danny knew Carmilla could be a bit of a sap, but she also never expected a gesture of her’s to make her cry. She wiped at her face and gently placed the card down, frantically searching for her phone. Danny had to call Carmilla immediately.
