Logan’s best subject is obvi science, he honestly does good in everything, but he doesn’t like language that much

Taylor carry’s extra ear plugs/headphones/notebooks & pens for Ben & Ash (or anyone who might need them)

Tyler can braid better than Taylor can (he would do her hair growing up)

Aiden & Ash are adhd vs autism

Logan and Taylor hold hands when they’re anxious

Aiden can play the guitar & drums

Ben can also play the guitar but he prefers acoustic whereas Aiden likes electric

Tyler can play guitar but he prefers to play the trumpet (he’s rlly good)

Taylor can sing but she only does around Ben - he totally doesn’t cry nope totally not -

Ash can play the Harp (stealing that from someone else’s hc post <3) but she can also play violin & piano (multitalented queen)

birds really like Ben - he doesn’t know why

Aiden & Ben are really good at art, but with totally different styles

Ben prefers realism and charcoal pieces

Aiden prefers more stylized art, markers & paints

Aiden did graffiti for a while and still would if he ever had the time (stupid phantoms) - when Ash finds out she lets him tag the buses in the graveyard and he’s so excited about it

Aiden & Tyler play basketball together on the weekends while the others watch/mess with them the entire time

If Tyler’s being particularly cocky about winning against Aiden then Ben will step in cause he’s naturally really good at basketball

Taylor and Logan always giggle watching Tyler’s face fall seeing Ben stand up

Ashlyn doesn’t mind when Aiden loses because then she gets to use it as an excuse for them to go get ice cream to “make the loss easier” (aiden knows she does that every time because she also asks to go out for ice cream if he wins to celebrate)

Taylor lets Aiden try on her lip gloss once and now he has his own collection and keeps some on him at all times — mostly just clear ones or sparkly light pink ones that aren’t super noticeable but still leaves a shine

Tyler uses like ten separate hair products daily - him & Ash take the longest to do their hair out of the whole group

Hi! I've been really curious, besides the Light Music Club members, who are the characters who can play an instrument on canon timeline? Thank you for answering my question^^

Mmm, I’m not sure what you mean by “canon timeline”?? If you mean the main story, there are few, if any, times where characters mention they play instruments (just because it isn’t relevant to what’s happening). Most instances appear in vignettes or event stories (which are considered “part of canon” but not always happening in the same timeline as the main story).

Off the top of my head, I recall:

The Light Music Club does play instruments as part of their activities! More specifically, Kalim is usually on drums, Cater plays guitar, and Lilia the electric bass.

Lilia is actually said to be able to play multiple instruments, including the bagpipes. We can see many instruments in the corner of his bedroom.

Kalim can also play the oud.

Malleus has a talent with string instruments (violin, cello, etc). However, this talent is limited to classical instruments and not electric ones. He once tried to play an electric guitar and almost killed poor Cater’s ears 😂

The Octatrio used to be in a band in middle school. Azul played piano, Floyd played drums, and Jade played the double bass (NOT the electric bass; those are two totally different instruments).

Jade plays a flute in the Harveston event. Epel shows that he can play a concertina (which is an accordion-like instrument).

Sebek and Idia try playing a violin in the same event. Idia doesn’t really try to play, he just does the motions and plays an actually competent player’s performance via his phone. Sebek sucks at the violin, but his lung capacity makes him good for playing woodwinds (though he lacks the skill for it). He refuses to keep playing on the flute because Malleus is not one for woodwinds.

Marja (Epel’s grandma) and Malleus can play the pipe organ; the latter does it during Endless Halloween Night.

Grim can make a racket on cymbals and the castanets!

Rook and Ruggie play the trumpet in Port Breeze Fest! Floyd demonstrates his skill with the saxophone. Jack also plays flute here. The event rhythmic/twistunes shows us the boys banging on various items like drums.

In White Rabbit Fest, Epel, Ortho, Deuce, and Silver attempt playing bugles but none of them are very good at it.

Name: Sora "Aaron" Senju Uchiha

Birthday: January 24

Height: 6'5"

Appearance: So his faceclaim is ^ but I also wanted him to look more like an Uchiha so he would have dark raven hair, like the Uchiha's in Naruto and the same eye color. Might make his hair a bit more curly

Voice claim: a deep male voice with a British accent. Think Hobie Brown and Howl Pendragon combined

Backstory: So long story short, in this reality I'm born in Japan but because I'm from two famous clans (half Senju, half Uchiha), my family moved to London and that's where I trained and I was homeschooled up until highschool. I move back to Japan a week before the entrance exam. Even though I could get in through recommendations, it would be more fun to go through the exams and take first place and put Bakugo in his place. I have two siblings who are twins and will grow up around Eri's age.

Quirk: Senju Sharingan (I'm horrible at names lol 💀) It's a unique quirk that combines the Uchiha clan's Sharingan and the regenerative abilities of the Senju clan. I'm also able to use Wood Release as well (For non-naruto fans, it's like a nature quirk with trees but more destructive).

Extra info -

So for my quirk, I can do ninjustu, learn taijutsu, and learn genjustu too. Instead of having to see people die to activate my sharingan, i just scripted I will have to train really hard and break my limits to get my sharingan and upgrade it too. Same goes for getting my mangekyo sharingan cause why would I give myself more trauma?

I scripted so many things for me being handsome it's not even funny 💀. I came there to steal attention and be hot and wanted, not to be a side character 🥱

The little bell above the shop's wooden, yellow door jingles as Damien and I enter, and the smell of carpet and fresh paper fills my senses. The music shop is painted in a warm light, the wooden walls lined with an assortment of instruments ranging from guitars, drums, and a few brass, although very few. There's a few pianos tucked into corners, and shelves of lesson books and other arrangements are shoved into them. I've been here many times before, and the shop owner often gives me discounts with how frequently I visit. There's no one behind the register, so I assume whoever's working today is in the back.

"Mrs. Conaway?" I call out, eyes darting around the shop. From behind a shelf, a little head peeps out, revealing a frail woman in her late fifties. Her glasses make her eyes bubble, and her salt-n-pepper hair is tied up in a chaotic mess atop her head.

"Ah, good morning, you two!" Mrs. Conaway smiles goofily, waddling out from behind the wooden shelf. "I assume you're here for your oboe?"

"That 'n some slide grease. I'm running a bit low," I chuckle dryly, walking with the elderly woman to the register. To the left of the register is a glass case showing off a variety of wind instruments. There's flutes, a few piccolos, a trumpet mouthpieces, a single trombone, and finally...

The F. Lorée classic oboe.

My dream instrument since beginning junior high. A professional level oboe going for over three-thousand dollars, the Lorée company has been making them for almost a century, known famously for their beautifully crafted instruments. I had been saving up for one post-high school since my freshman year.

"Y'think daddy's money can afford that?" Damien nudges me with a joking smile, referring to the extra cash I'll be getting from tutoring the girls. I roll my eyes.

"Maybe," I chuckle. Mrs. Conaway pulls out a beat-up looking case from behind the register as Damien and I banter, setting it on top of the instrument display case to show it to me.

"It's an intermediate brand. I hope it isn't too bad," she gives me a sheepish grin.

"Don't worry!" I mirror her smile, popping open the case to give the double reed instrument a look. It's a little dirty and the corks look drier than a desert, but it was nothing I couldn't fix. "It's perfect, Mrs. Conaway. Thank you so much," I nod at her, clicking the oboe case shut carefully. She clasps her hands together happily.

"I'm so glad to hear that! And remember, you don't have'ta pay me for it. It's the least I can do for my sweetest customer!" The elderly woman says giddily.

"Agh, even so... I really appreciate it, Mrs. Conaway. I'll return it as soon as I get a new one," I promise her. She pushes the case toward me, eager for me to get on with playing it and also for me to leave so she can keep working. Damien and I walk out of the shop, stepping out into the sun that shun down onto the busy town centre.

"So...?" Damien looks at me with a wicked smirk. "We got the car for the day... are ya thinkin' what I'm thinkin', thumper?" He swings his arm over my shoulders. I eye him with a quirked brow. As if reading each other's mind, we shout in unison,

"ICE CREAM 'N JOYRIDES!"

Our cheer echoes down the street, but we giggle as if there's nothing wrong in the world. We jog over to the Impala, hopping in quickly before driving off to the best restaurant in the world—Hattie's. A local favourite, and everyone here swears that it sells the best shakes you could possibly imagine. Mrs. Hattie L. Parker started the old shoppe when Everglade was first founded in 1957 at the age of 22, and it's been a staple ever since in this old town. I can't name a single person here that doesn't frequent the place.

We pull into an empty spot with "Come On Eileen" playing lowly from the radio. As soon as we park, we throw ourselves out of the car, racing each other to the door of the diner while giggling all the way. I decide to bring my hand-me-down oboe with me, wanting to get some repair as soon as possible.

"You're cheating!" Damien yelps when he sees me get to the glass door faster than him.

"Nuh uh?! It's not my fault I'm just a lil closer to the door compared to you!" I cackle, pushing the door open with my back as I hug my case to my chest. My older brother gives me a rough pat on the head, jostling my hair around with his palm. I grunt at the affection, trying to pull him off of me as we stumbled into the bustling diner. It's almost packed, most of the booths and counter seats taken up. As Damien and I look around for a seat, I lock eyes with him.

In a booth is Leon Scott Kennedy, sitting with three other people. Next to him is the famous Ada Wong, known across the school for being the one of best lacrosse players in the county, as well as my graduate year's class president. I can't see the other two he's sitting with from where I'm standing, but I'm assuming it's someone from her little posse that's been at her feet since freshman year.

I feel myself shrink as I make eye contact with him, unconsciously drifting to stand behind my brother. Leon's got the same glare I saw him give me before Damien and I left to get my new oboe, which was clutched tightly to my front. I notice he changed his clothes, sporting a deep blue sweater with a white collared shirt beneath it.

Damien notices how quiet I'm being and follows my gaze.

"You good, thump- Oh..." The boy sneers at the sight of the ace. He squeezes my shoulder softly. "Ignore 'em, sis. Let's sit over here," he grunts, spinning me toward an empty booth at the opposite end of the diner. We settle into the red, leather seats, immediately ordering a sodapop and a banana-split to share between us. I keep my head down, eyes trained on the oboe case on the table.

Carefully, I open it to reveal the old thing. Rummaging through the case, I pull out a tube of cork grease and get to work. I'm careful as I apply the lubricant onto the dry corks, trying not to put too much on to avoid them get soft and even more flakey. All the while, I can feel the stares on me.

I look up hesitantly, eyes immediately settling on Leon. His arm is wrapped around Ada Wong's shoulder, fingers playing with the threads of her black cardigan. My fingers tighten around the lower piece of my oboe, an odd feeling in my chest as I watch the blonde be so casual with someone I assume he's only known for a day. Suddenly, he looks up at me, seeming just as confused as I am. I quickly look back down at the parts in my case, praying he didn't catch me staring.

"Can't believe he's hangin' out with Wong and her best friend," Damien huffs, fiddling with the turkey feather for my oboe. I remember that he and Ada had a thing going on before the summer. He never told me what happened—all I knew is that one night, he came home crying, and he sobbed about how much he loved her. I never brought it up since then, but tt finally occurs to me that Leon was most likely on a double date of sorts, and the ache in my chest worsens. Ada isn't really seen with boys outside of school unless she had some romantic interest in them...

"Are you really surprised, though? I mean, they're both heartless assholes with no personality," I sigh, setting the lower piece back into the case. I snag the feather out of Damien's fingers, stuffing it into velvet-lined container before closing it.

"Heh, I guess you're right," he chuckles.

Our order finally arrives, and I set my oboe in the booth next to me, making sure it won't fall again. Immediately, Damien tears apart the sweet treat we got, and I fear he won't spare me a bite. I laugh softly at his messy eating, the neapolitan ice cream smearing across his lips as he chowed down.

From the corner of my eye, I see my tormentor staring at me from his seat, and he's got this look in his eyes I can't quite place. His plump lips are pursed a little, and there's a small crease between his brows. I can't tell if he's looking here to judge me or if he's trying to brew up new ways to harass me. My heart pounds and I can feel a thin layer of sweat form at the top of my neck as I stress.

"Do you want to leave, (Y/n)?" My brother asks, looking up from the bowl of ice cream. His voice is stern, and I can tell he isn't playing around.

"Uhm..." I bite the inside of my cheek, thinking of what to do. "I... I think I'll be okay," I swallow dryly, reaching out for the glass of sodapop to take a sip. Damien seems unconvinced with the way he's narrowing his eyes at me.

"M'kay..." he grunts, going back to eating the sundae. I take a few nibbles as well, trying my best to ignore the way Leon watched me from his seat across the room.

He's on a date with someone... Why is he so focused on me?

Thankfully, Damien finishes off the ice cream quickly. With the way he's so jittery, I can tell he wants to leave, too. We stack our plates close to the end of the table so it's easier to clean up before we head to the register, wanting to pay and leave as soon as possible. I carry my oboe case behind my back, swaying back and forth on my heels as my brother pays for our treat. When we turn around to leave, we're face to face with the people we wanted to avoid.

"Dami, it's good to see you again. Couldn't you bother to say hello?" The girl in red smiled up at my big brother. Finally, I have a good look of the group.

Ada's dressed in her classic colours, the scarlet sweater-dress tight against her bosom that's accentuated by the cross hanging by her neck. Her ebony cardigan is kept over her arm as she stands with her hip popped out a bit, making her hourglass figure apparent.

Leon's sweater-collared combo was paired with mocha coloured dress pants, the sleeves of his shirts rolled up to his elbows to show off his muscle.

The other couple accompanying them, I gave no attention to, instead tugging at Damien's shirt in attempt to ground him

"That's rich coming from someone who didn't have the balls to say goodbye to me," my brother says through gritted teeth, his eye twitching lightly as his knuckles turned white. Ada gave him a hearty laugh.

"Oh, Dami, that was so long ago. I'm surprised you even remembered with how drunk you were," she chuckles, wiping a tear from her eye. This comment concerned me. My brother was drinking...?

"Don't fuckin' call me that," he seethed. I clutch the fabric of his t-shirt, pulling on it lightly.

"Damien, let's just go," I plead, not wanting the situation to get worse.

"You got a new clarinet, huh?" Leon states, pointing at the case I held at my side. I look at him, terrified that he'll snatch it out of my hands and shatter it just like the last. I hide it behind my back cautiously.

"Y-yes..." I squint at the blonde man. "Now, if you'll just... excuse us," I coughed, dragging Damien by his shirt as I tugged him behind me, squeezing between Ada and Leon to get through.

My side bumps into Leon's, and something within me feels... uneasy. The contact was quick, but I felt like I was burning up when I felt the skin of his arm graze against my own. I mumble a quick "excuse me" as we pass the two brats, my oboe case clutched tightly in my hands. Damien and I walk out the door, and I try my best not to look back.

I can feel Leon's piercing stare on the back of my head, following me as if I was some sort of prey.

What does he want from me?

"Are you okay, Dami?" I worry, my hand rubbing his arm comfortingly the moment we're out of the diner. His eyes are clearly droopy, and I just know he wants to go home now when he flashes a tired smile.

"M'okay, sis... Just... Didn't think she'd talk to me, y'know?" He chortles humourlessly. I hum in understanding, helping him to the driver side of the Impala.

"Let's go home, Dami," I say, sad that our day of fun was so quickly soured.

There was one thing on my mind on the drive home. Thoughts of Leon's odd behaviour threw me into a dizzy. Why does he hate me so much that he's willing to glare at me across the room? Why does he even care?

High schoolers are so weird...

I got bored in church today so I started coming up with band headcanons for the chain so here (sorry it’s really long I’m a huge band nerd)

concert band:

time - flute. he’s just the whimsical type to play flute, also he can go incredibly high and his fingers probably blur cuz of how fast he’s playing

twilight - baritone/euphonium. twi just seems like that mellow yet determined type, though he will get very aggressive if you call it a “mini-tuba”

warriors - trumpet. I don’t think I need to elaborate.

wind - trombone. wind is 100% a trombone kid- making jokes 24/7 and whether their funny or not is a 50/50. he blasts super loud to annoy everyone but he’s low key amazing at playing

four - four stumped me a bit. I’m not too 100% sure because his personality is rather complicated (hahahsrhjrjfjajajahz), but I think he’d play alto sax. he can play the others too; tenor, soprano and bari (ITS 5X HIS SIZE AHAHA).

legend - trumpet. he’d be first chair and extremely smug about it, though he’s so insanely good at trumpet. he makes a 3 octave instrument 5 octaves. he snarks a whole ton at the rest of his section and constantly has to put people in place (people aka warriors).

hyrule - flute. also very whimsical along with time. :) he seems like that happy type and just likes the flute cuz it makes a pretty sound. yes hyrule we love you for that <3

wild - percussion. so obviously percussion. he’s extremely good at everything in the back. he loves to double up on mallets (holding two mallets in each hand) and go ham. he can make it sound very pretty tho :) he can do fancy things with drumsticks and the metronome fears HIM. he also summons demons in the back of class during warm ups (very proud of him. if you couldn’t tell, I’m a percussionist).

sky - let’s be honest, he’d be in orchestra (what a traitor /pf). but if he were in band he’d defo play clarinet. very soft and mellow, and does the instrument justice. very attentive in class and definitely a teachers pet yet not to the extent it’s annoying. he just really enjoys being there.

jazz band:

time - he would play alto sax but would definitely do flute cameos whenever he could. he likes making the crowd go “WOAH! A FLUTE IN JAZZ? THATS EPIK”

twilight - I think he’d learn trombone for jazz. amazing at improvising and his solos are astounding round of applause for twilight 👏👏

warriors - still trumpet, he loves jazz and quite good at the whole concept. 10/10 he loves those high notes in his solos

wind - still trombone. he likes playing around with glissandos and very good at them. his playing is very fun and interesting!

four - i think he’d do piano despite the fact he has 4 saxes to choose from. a god at music theory and has so much fun with the piano. four’s fingers can stretch impossibly far to reach keys. that boy loves his soloing!

legend - trumpet as well. nothings really changed, he likes smooth jazz and you cannot change my mind. he’s usually pretty nonchalant about jazz but he secretly has so much fun with it.

hyrule - electric bass. he loves to have funky solo’s and makes it all look super easy. he can get super energetic and start having *too* much fun in which the band director needs to tell him to calm down 💀

wild - DRUMSEEET! my boy can really rock out on this thing. he really knows how to make the song interesting without being overpowering (sometimes). really good at making things pop

sky - upright bass! that lil guy loves his bass and rather shy with solos, preferring to let others do the solos. he downplays his 11/10 improvisation. which is stupid sky you are amazing at bass

extra headcanons:

time and hyrule would talk a lot in class despite the fact time tries to pay attention. those two have so much dirt on the rest of the band and they KNOW it.

wild and four like to go early before rehearsal to just screw around. whether it be remixing music or just straight up doing some crack stuff, they have a blast.

wind would help twilight with trombone since he’s still a bit new to it. even though he can be a bit annoying to the band, wind is a great teacher and twilight is improving a lot.

wind and warriors would be the evil duo of “who can blast the loudest”. everyone in the band despises them for it.

like I mentioned earlier, warriors is constantly challenging legend or just testing him in which legend blasts warrior’s ego everytime without fail.

more on the double mallets with wild, he quite enjoys making small peaceful songs or finding them to play. if you come early you can hear him practicing and his playing is very soothing. :)

like I said, sky would probably be in orchestra, but I like to think he does both. often doing cameos for both groups, as well. almost like the middle man because the band and orchestra hate it each other, but both agree sky is an exception and everyone cherishes him.

time is the president of the band. everyone loves time. the students and the director. he’s probably one of the best players in the band. extremely mature but in those SMALL moments he’ll do something devious.

twilight is also cherished by the band. he’s very hardworking and has adopted several students. many look up to him as he’s a bit more approachable than time. (time is scary to new people)

though warriors can be annoying, he’d never do anything purposely to screw up the band during performances or whatever. he loves being here even if he’s showing off 24/7.

four is really a jack of all trades when it comes to sax. everyone teases him whenever he plays bari due to the size difference, but no one goes to far because deep down their all scared of the tiny short gremlin who will start speaking in music theory language and confuse everyone.

wow, your still here? 💀 im concerned for your health and mine. really though, if you read all that, I admire your dedication and thanks for listening. there will certainly be more headcanons to come so if you liked this do not fret, it’s not the end. sorry this is so long and sorry for the people who talked in church that I shamelessly tuned out.

Silly Headcanons

Ben becomes a super good guitarist. Even though it's not singing, it's similar, and their both music related so ya.

I love headcanoning the crazy peoples to be good at art, so here we go. Aiden is actually good at art, cause he and Ben would draw together to pass time when they were traveling. He feels like it's kinda Ben's thing though, so he doesn't do it too much besides in his room when he is listening to whatever.

Ben is good at semi - realism, and practices by drawing his silly friends.

Taylor and Tyler had a bunch of sibling rivalries when they were younger, specifically with Just Dance.

Speaking of Just Dance, Ashlynn is dope at it, but she don't do it unless she actually feels the motivation too.

Ashlynn is naturally cold, and Aiden is naturally warm. Whats that mean? A nice balance for cuddling lol.

Some as the last one, but with Ben and Taylor.

Aiden likes to blast his music in his room whenever he's alone, helps him think of cool ideas.

(Stealing this from another person who did headcanons, loved them btw) Aiden has a giant assortment of songs in his playlist, entirely mixed. We got some LMFAO, Mother Mother, MSI, Lady Gaga, Lemon Demon, Miley Cirus, IDKHBTFM, idk whatever you can think of lol.

Taylor and Tyler have a shared playlist cause they actually have pretty similar tastes in music, but they keep skipping songs the other would want to listen too,

Aiden is TERRIFIED of spiders. He'd think they are cool from a distance, just not anywhere near or on him. Also scratch my last idea they are BOTH terrified of spiders and have to call someone to get it out of their room(s) (stealing this idea 😈)

Logan relates in a way, but he's fine with them at least in a cage to his observation.

Logan really liked to do those astronomy projects when he was little, like with macaroni and whatever (idk what yall used)

(taking this from another person who did headcanons, forgot who but they were really good) Taylor enjoys playing the flute, and has played the xylophone for a past class. Tyler likes the drums because it gets his stress out. Aiden plays the violin (his parents wanted him to do something like piano, but he got bored too quickly, and they wouldn't let him near the trumpets or the french horns) Logan got the saxophone (its a little too heavy so he has to set it down every few minutes) Ben got the guitar (ofc) And Ashlynn enjoys the Harp (Not what most expect, but it's easy on the ears)

We're gonna throw the accordion at Logan too for fun (not actually.. unless)

Okay that's it. I might do sad ones but we'll see how this goes :-)

Heathers Headcanons that Live Rent-Free in my Brain

(Some of these are new, some have been rotting in my notes app since January lol also LONGPOST WARNING up ahead.)

Veronica:

Was also a wolf kid (iykyk), wore those dog ear headbands to school from the middle of 3rd to the beginning of 5th grade

Has a pet corn snake named Cornelius. She's had him since she was 12 and loves him dearly

Can't even be trusted with a toaster in the kitchen, can and will find a way to set something on fire

Her favorite movie series is Indiana Jones. She loves the thril of the action scenes and the concept of carefree adventuring

Fucking unstoppable at just dance. She wins by a landslide every time

Had one of those giant picture encyclopedias as a kid

Despite spending so much time journaling and studying people's handwriting, hers is still a mesy disaster (this annoys Chandler to no end)

Likes to doodle in her journal too

has been journaling almost every day since she was 8. She keeps all of her old finished journals in a locked box under her bed

Loves making friendship bracelets for everybody she appreciates

Was absolutely a band kid. She played trumpet but quit sophomore year because she couldn’t stand Kurt and Ram anymore (they were just there to get some elective credits in)

Heather Chandler:

Hates everyone except her favorite three people (Duke, Mac, and Ronnie) And sometimes even them

Gets fucking livid when people touch her stuff without asking (this includes Veronica)

Especially if you touch her hair/skincare stuff (which is one of those 989,752,300 step process ones)

If she doesn’t get her beauty sleep, she’s even more of a megabitch than usual

Super protective of her friends and loyal to a fault. Once you're in her inner circle, there's no escape

Speaks french fluently

Most of the time she spends with her parents is on the whole-summer trips to France they drag her on. She despises these with a burning passion

Learned how to paint in France, and she's gotten pretty good at it over the years

Has gorgeous, looping cursive handwriting and insists on writing everything in red ballpoint pen. (Her teachers hate this)

Almost always has really vivid lucid dreams. She writes them down in a dream log and they’re her main artistic inspiration

Secretly loves Romance novels. Will read them and giggle like an excited 12-year-old when she's alone

Heather McNamara:

Was super clumsy before she started cheer. It’s definitely not as bad as before, but it’s still there. She’ll still trip over her own feet sometimes

Lactose intolerant, but her favorite drink is milk

Loves to click her pens in class

Goes through chewing gum at frightening speeds (think a pack or more a day)

Is really close to her dad

Whenever her dad goes on a business trip, he brings her a new hair ribbon. She keeps them all in a drawer in her nightstand.

Was the biggest horse girl as a kid

Will still happily talk about horses for hours

Loves astrology even more. Her dad cuts out the horoscope section of the daily paper for her and she keeps them filed away by date and season

Loves to read her friends their horoscopes

Definitely has a million constellation/planet charts all over her walls

If it doesn't have mustard on it, she won't eat it

Carries around a bottle of spicy mustard for this exact reason

Heather Duke:

Literally like 5'0 (152.5 cm)

Will not be caught dead without her heels on

Has two younger siblings, Hunter (12) and Hannah (also 12, they’re twins)

Has a black cat named Gatsby

Gatsby loves to curl up on her neck when she reads, and she’ll absentmindedly scratch behind his ears

Her parents forced her to play the piano from like 1st grade onwards. She has the skills of a concert pianist but hates the instrument with a burning passion

Her car is a 1980 Jeep CJ5

Secretly really likes cars. Will talk to McNamara about cars while McNamara reads her horoscope

Loves to fix her friends' cars

DESPISES condiments. She believes that if you can't eat it plain, it's not worth eating. (the exception to this is hotsauce lol)

Has a bunch of cute stationary and study materials (y'know, all the glittery gel pens and color-coded sticky notes) but uses them for the dumbest things

JD:

5’10 and still growing

Was really into dinosaurs when he was younger. He still has a collection of little plastic ones in his room that he sometimes (though he’d never admit it) gets out and plays with

Cooking shows are his guilty pleasure. He fucking loves being in the kitchen, it’s almost as safe to him as a 7/11

He cooks as a form of self-expression

Loves to bake too, will make things for his friends

Tried to make Chandler an apology cake one time (which did NOT end well for either of them)

One of his most prized possessions is the blue and black friendship bracelet Veronica made for him when they met. He wears the damn thing everywhere and it’s getting beat up

Loves to take walks alone in the dark or the rain. He thinks it’s nice and peaceful

Constantly losing pens. Was it the trenchcoat's fault? Probably. Will he get out of the trenchcoat? Absolutely not.

steddie musician AU where Eddie makes it big after s4 and invites Robin and Steve to live with him in Chicago so he can tour and always have a home base -and now he has the resources to buy a bit more for himself so he makes sure a good studio space gets installed in the house

and ofc Robin's already musically inclined so she likes to help Eddie fuck around with weird trumpet solos for experimental songs, and Steve learnt piano as a kid but never had the opportunity to get creative with it -so when Eddie's gone and Robin's in class, he putters around the studio, learning guitar from Eddie's books and adapting to a keyboard and having fun with synths and singing. that lack of expectations and freedom to have fun is what trips him into making his own music

he puts together a few songs and asks Nancy to listen to them -he knows she'll be honest about whether he's wasting his time with this, since he at least wants to make music Robin or Eddie could give a pass to. but to his surprise she tells him he's good, and if he wanted to he could make a little extra money playing alternative nights at clubs. needing a second, more objective from a personal connection standpoint, opinion, he asks Argyle, who actually worked at a record store for a bit

Argyle, without asking bc he thought it went without saying, passes the cassette on to a few buddies of his in the local live music scene and later introduces them to Steve when they want to have him at one of their regular places. Steve goes with Robin who he asks not to tell anyone -he doesn't want to distract Eddie while the guy's making a big name of himself, and maybe Steve feels embarrassed or inadequate about being late to the game and doing it as a hobby, so he also uses a pseudonym. 'Zdev' maybe, if we want to parallel 'Djo'

he finds out he really likes it, so he starts doing small gigs for bars or parties Jonathan connects him with. puts a short album on cassette that he recorded at home, has fun with it even as the songs become more personal. but by then 'Zdev' has a little local fame and one of his cassettes is picked up by some label and they reach out -Steve definitely doesn't expect it, because psychedelic rock kind of faded from radio play after the 70s, but now he's being faced with a record deal he isn't sure he wants and no idea how to handle it

so he calls Eddie, who comes racing back from recording with the band out in LA, thankfully not ditching at too inconvenient a point

and Eddie nearly doesn't believe it at first but once he gets his hands on a tape so he can get an idea of the sound, he's obsessed. while he's a metalhead to the core, he's never heard Steve sing before (let's use twenty twenty as the album here) and there's something about the way Steve ties the groove to a sense of melancholy that digs into his skull. it also doesn't help that some of the songs set off alarm bells bc they talk about loving a girl or packing up and leaving or feeling adrift and they make him want to stick as close as possible lest they turn out to be true

he helps Steve through it, pretty well versed in the industry by now (i'm thinking its about 5 years post Vecna) but he's quietly worrying over the album's content the whole time. they go through the re-recording process, which ofc Eddie really wants to hear, but with Steve still being embarrassed he doesn't end up sitting in on any; but they talk over each song before and after and its so easy to drift back into hinting at the mutual attraction they'd each independently resigned to pass them by, back when Eddie first moved away after 86. and eventually it comes out that the album was Steve's way of, yeah, having fun, but also exorcising feelings from his past in Hawkins. that there's only one song that's really about his life now, and he didn't put it on the cassette but he's planning on including it on the LP

by now its pretty obvious to Steve that Eddie is flirting back, not to mention the guy put a hold on recording his own work to help Steve out, which is easy to read into. so he finally invites Eddie to sit in for the recording of the last song, which he's hoping will be subtle enough that he can bluff if it doesn't go well, but if Eddie is on the same page, it'll be clear. the song he plays is Mutual Future (Repeat)

it's got a long winding intro of just guitar that Eddie sits through, unaware, and Steve starts singing low, almost just his speaking voice the croon is so subtle, and when he meets Eddie's eyes through the glass to ask will you be mine?

well, Eddie gets it. and while there's not a lot of privacy in a recording studio, he eventually finds a small filing room he can kiss Steve stupid in until quitting time for the day comes and goes

Demon Slayer Highschool AU(ish) Head Canons

Uzui totally seems like a popular playboy in high school.

With Rengoku being his best friend and only nice popular kid.

Giyu's the weird bad boy Rengoku is friends with and no one knows why.

Muichiro's the kid in the younger grade they took pity on because he had no friends.

Shinobu is the nerdy chemistry expert who's popular because a lot of boys like her.

Mutsuri is one of the popular guys exes, but nobody can remember who's, but she's in the group anyway.

Iguro is the weird kid who brags about his pet snakes and thinks he's cool for wearing bandages. He repeatedly gets told off by teachers, and is a wanna be bad boy. Misturi loves him anyway.

Gyomei is a senior, and he doesn't play any sports. No one can remember how he got popular, he just did.

If the hashira are popular kids, what are Tanjiro and his squad?

They're BAND kids.

Tanjiro plays Trumpet.

Zenitsu was passed down his grandfather's tuba and hates it so much.

Nezuko plays the xylophone .

Yushiro has spent his whole life mastering instruments, and he plays the flute for band, but loves playing piano.

Kanao plays the drums in the back. Little effort needed.

And Inosukes on triangle.

So Tanjiro I imagine has an amazing singing voice.

He's the best at it.

Zenitsu sounds like a dying cat.

Inosuke is surprising good, but he mostly listens to death metal, so he scream sings.

Nezuko doesn't sing, but she'll do a little Dancy dance to any song she hears.

Uzui thinks he's the hot shit at it, but he's not. He's average.

Rengoku cannot sing. He doesn't try. He knows his voice sounds awful.

Muichiro doesn't really sing, but he can. He's okay at it, but if he's doing karaoke he's going all out on that demi Lovato high note.

He'll hit it even higher.

Iguro is good at singing, but he'll sing my chemical romance until even Misturi wants to rip out her eardrums.

Shinobu thinks she's good, but she's just fine at it. Nothing special.

Mitsuri's voice sounds like nightcore singing.

Gyomei opera sings in the shower and that's it.

And Sanemi has a raspy ass voice that cracks if he tries to hit any note higher than the bass.

Yushiro sings to himself in his room. He also sings in the shower, but do not tell anyone.

He performs Call me maybe.

Lady Tamayo has recorded it.

He has no idea this recording exists.

Zenistu also sings in the shower.

Buts it's the take cover shut your ears kind.

He thinks he is the HOT SHIT.

He made Yushiros ears bleed.

Tanjiro had to literally yank the shower curtain back to get him to stop.

But then he screamed for the next hour so it was a lose lose.

Believe me, he was searching for bleach for hours.

Inosuke hid it tho because he wanted Tanjiro to suffer.

After Zenistu got out of the shower Yushiro punted him to next week.

Demo plays bagpipes, not because of any of the obvious reasons. Oh no, he does it purely to piss people off! Tell him to stop, and he'll rant about his heritage. The other mercs just don't understand how important my heritage is to him! He literally has to play the bagpipes at 6:32 am. because otherwise, he will lose any sense of his identity. He's actually gotten really good at it. The other mercs can't really tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Hey, we know Engie is great on the guitar, but did you know he also kills on the harmonica? He loves to play the blues and slow songs. He just likes to play something easy and fun. He also just likes to make up his own songs. It's just something he really likes. He plays songs for Pyro sometimes, and Pyro can weirdly harmonize with the harmonica. It's unsettling, but Engie finds it charming.

Heavy loves to play the piano, Medic actually taught him how to play it! He had always had an interest in the piano. His mother probably played it a lot when he was a child, and it always fascinated him, but his mom didn't let him touch it. She was always worried about it breaking. When he found out Medic had a piano, he asked him about it, and Medic offered to teach him. He's even allowed in the lab when Medic isn't there to practice. He's a fan of Beethoven, and you can hear it from the lab at odd hours.

Scout is a machine on the drums. I honestly think he's great on any instrument. I think he can focus really well on anything with music. It's one of his huge passions. He just doesn't really talk about it too much. He's really into fast-paced songs, and he would definitely be one of the types to be violently head banging while playing the drums. He wants to be in a band so bad!

Spy, like Medic, is a fan of the violin! He feels so classy playing it. My man plays the saddest music you've ever heard. I swear he's broken at least two violins from the amount of stress he's transferred to them. He may or may not have learned the into to Toxic, but he would never admit that. He actually probably has a large repertoire of songs that are either pop or sad songs.

Soldier plays the trumpet, and oh my god, if he and Demo team up, the other mercs have to use all their willpower to not kill them both. He mainly learned it to play that one wake-up song and all other generally army-ish songs. Honestly, he'd be really good at most instruments, but he's not too interested. Has this deep love for the trumpet thats not going away.

Pyro plays the Otamatone, and I will die on this hill. They have at least a million songs in their mind at all times. Most of them are video games songs that Scout suggested. But they also learned how to play Funky Town and a few other silly songs. They also really like how cute it is! They have multiple different versions and colors. It's one of their favorite things ever.

76. Musical Experimentation

CW: emeto, institutionalised slavery, dehumanisation, box boy universe, pet whump

The park was almost empty during the early morning hour. An older lady in an orange fleece walking her Yorkshire terrier down the wooded path along the stream. A young couple jogging together, the woman reaching up to adjust her chestnut pony tail. A bald man in his fifties bicycling slowly with his black labrador in tow. Apart from them, only Lydia and Coriander walked together across the wide expanse of grass.

“Here it is, Cory!” Lydia pointed to the simple wooden pavilion ahead, just an open deck with wooden supports for the roof in each corner. “This is what I wanted to show you. I found out that the council has refurbished some pianos and placed them around town for anyone to use.”

And indeed. In the middle of the pavilion was a fairly battered, but freshly repainted, piano.

The blonde pet looked quizzically at his owner.

“T-that sounds very nice, Miss Lydia” he said.

”I was thinking that perhaps you would like to try to play it?”

A worried wrinkle creased Coriander’s forehead.

“T-this pet i-is afraid that it cannot, Miss Lydia.” He said regretfully. “I-it doesn’t know how to play.”

“Remember how you didn’t know that you could swim, either?” Lydia smiled. “I just want you to give it a try. It is totally all right if you can’t play.” She held up a hand. “You have to take a seat on the bench. It is all right, it is just the two of us here.”

When Coriander hesitatingly sat down on the duet bench and placed his hands on the keys, she nodded approvingly. “That’s really good. You are doing well. There’s no stress, take as much time as you need.”

Lydia sat down in the grass next to the piano, closing her eyes and enjoying the warm morning sun on her face.

A bumble bee buzzed among some early daisies, a few seagulls called to one another overhead. The faint sounds of a few cars in the distance. Coriander hesitatingly pushed down a few of the keys, first discordantly, then in a cascade from the one side of the piano to the other.

It sounded just as haphazard and unskilled as Lydia thought that she herself would have sounded, if she would have tried to play. She had nearly made up her mind that her hunch was just a guess gone wrong, when something shifted.

The unmistakable first tones of Für Elise floated out over the park’s green lawn.

A few weeks later, they walked past a music store when Lydia stopped, hit by inspiration.

“Would you like to go inside, Cory?”

The young man blanched. Almost, but not quite, shaking his head.

“B-but we don’t need anything, Miss Lydia.”

“I know, but maybe you would like to look at some of the instruments? I mean, you weren’t as awesome with the piano in the park as with the tin whistle, but you could still play. Maybe, if you try some more instruments you could discover even more skills?”

The pet swallowed, hard.

“I-it is soon time for dinner, Miss. P-perhaps we s-should go straight home and cook some food?”

Lydia relented.

“Sure, Cory. Let’s go home.” She glanced thoughtfully at all the instruments in the window as they walked past.

Coriander stared down at the pavement almost all the way home.

Transcript of audio recording

Several rustling sounds and a thump, from placing the recorder on the table, then Lydia’s voice.

“Cory, today I would like you to look at some different pictures and tell me what you see on the picture. I also want to tell me if you feel anything in particular about the picture, would that be okay?”

“Y-yes, Miss Lydia” Cory’s voice, slightly nervous but obviously eager to please.

“Okay, what is this?”

“It is a tin whistle, Miss Lydia.” A smile in Coriander’s voice. “T-this pet enjoys playing the tin whistle.”

“That’s good.” A smile in Lydia’s voice, too. “So what is this?”

“A trumpet.”

A faint rustle of paper as Lydia changed cards.

“A set of drums.”

“A cello.” A faint, almost undetectable tremble in Coriander’s voice.

“What about this, then?”

“An oboe.”

“That’s really good, I didn’t even know what that was called.”

“An harpsichord.”

“A guitar.”

“Now this is a hard one.” Lydia laughed. “I had no idea what this was. Ready?”

“Yes, Miss Lydia.” Coriander huffed a small laugh. “T-this pet knows what it is, Miss Lydia. That is a theremin.” He sounded pleased with himself.

“You are really awesome at this.” Lydia said warmly. “Only a few cards left. What is this?”

A sharp intake of breath. The faintest moan. The vicious sound of someone vomiting, liquid splashing all over the floor.

After a few moments only dry heaving could be heard on the tape.

“T-this pet is so, so s-sorry, Miss Lydia.” Coriander’s voice faint and shivering. “I-it will clean this up at once.”

“No, Cory.” Lydia sounded shaken, too. “I am sorry, I shouldn’t have pushed you. Please forgive me.”

Sound of steps and movement, someone fumbling with the recorder and the recording turned off.

In the margin of the transcript, with blue ballpoint pen, Lydia had noted in her curved handwriting. “A violin.”

DEATH NOTE AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

So I have this idea that at Wammys house all the kids were given obligatory music lessons and then voluntary extra lessons where they learn to play an instrument because music is good for the soul and mind of course we can't have a genius without music lessons

L - he probably started with piano because he's got piano fingers and he became good at it really quickly, so he moved on to other instruments. He chooses to play the interesting ones like contrabass flute or hammered dulcimer after that and used those to figure out other similar instruments on his own so now he's just a one man band. His favorites are the low winds, he's got crazy good breath control

Near - he didn't really want to do the voluntary music lessons at first but he was "heavily encouraged" bc he's gifted or whatever so he chose violin and obviously was great at it. Eventually he got more curious and decided to try out french horn, and he's good at that one too but violin is his instrument. He doesn't play any others

Mello - he also declined the music lessons at first and was actually super opposed to it until he found out near was doing it, but he didn't really find any of the instruments worth his time. Roger recommended percussion for him because he likes hitting stuff and so he plays a drum set pretty well. As more of a concert instrument, he plays timpanis which he likes because he gets to hit more stuff really hard. He also tried violin at one point in order to one-up near but got too mad at it and almost broke it trying to fling it across the room

Matt - he didn't take music lessons other than the obligatory ones. Best he can do is kazoo, and he's an orange belt in recorder karate 💪 I wouldn't be surprised if he taught himself to play the squeezebox either

BB - he played piano because L did, but that's it. He memorized the pieces that L practiced and watched all of his lessons

As for the characters that aren't from wammy's house....

Light - he's a trumpet player and there's no argument. He knows other brass instruments too, like trombone and baritone and stuff but he mostly does trumpet. He started taking lessons when he was like nine and did a normal amount so he's no prodigy but he is pretty talented. I do think he's pretty bad at music theory though so he chose to drop it mostly after high school

Misa - she probably did flute for a couple years because it was the cutest of the six choices given in grade school but never really picked it up

Ryuk - the swaggest armpit fartist ever

Matsuda - I don't really have backstory for him but he seems like a soprano sax guy ☺️

AK & VK's Hobbies

A lot of the AKS probs do horse-riding too cause rich kids and their parents have pet horses mostly in canon stuff.

Also hanging out with pets for VKs and AKs since they all have pets galore. Though no one has more than Aladdin, Jasmine and their kids’ massive menagerie.

Everyone sings (probs various degrees of good)

Harriet: Likes doodling (not coherent usually & just for her eyes only) and reading.

Harry & CJ: They like to read but mostly for the dramaticness & extraness. And because they are Hook’s kids so classical literature and stuff is easy for them. It’s probably a hobby that surprises people the most!

Hook kids may also play some instruments cause their dad does (piano, harpsichord and from jake and the Neverland pirates: the trumpet)

Ben: Headcanon that he can do some ‘tinkering’ with things. Not full on inventing like his grandfather, Maurice or like Carlos. But it’s a talent he has from spending lots of time with his grandad during his childhood.

He is probably a great assistant/helper! His mode of doing things is trial and error! Though he probably does know the basics pretty well. It helps him relax and calm down. It transports him to simpler times with his grandad and the stories he used to hear.

Audrey: Swordfighting, fencing & jousting with & cause of her parents (mum too cause in one disney picture book Aurora does joust! which is cool of Disney to give us content for. Also Aurora uses a sword in concept art).

Spending time with woodland creatures, hearing stories from her ‘great-aunts’-the 3 good fairies and gramma. She likes foraging. Embroidery and stitching too maybe. Probs likes reading stories too. She also writes her diary.

Gil: possibly woodworking/carpentry? But he values detail, style and elegance and likes engraving it with art unlike his father who only cares about its functionality and just generally leaves it like bare and crude. People also hc he likes gardening which is cute!

Hunting responsibly? A take I heard once. Like he only takes what he needs and sometimes just enjoys running after animals and not actually hunting if that made any sense.

‘Uma’s wicked book for VKs’ said he made Uma and Harry’s outfits for em I think so he’s a fashion designer too? Or maybe they gave him special instructions that he followed. Good for him. Cause dude can still sew then.

Jay & Jade: Practicing disguises (Jafar & Nasira both got disguises in canon so like just a family thing). Practicing magic when they get to Auradon (Jay is 1/4th Genie in mine. Plus Jafar & Nasira do have some magic of their own so do Jay & Jade).

Anthony: reading, upcycling outfits & accessories (because a line in the 1st book saying his outfits look regal & tailor-made somehow though they’re made of the same materials other’s outfits are made of. He generally makes any outfits work but further elevated by him tailoring stuff).

He likes spending time with his mum, siblings, cousins, pet(s) & his bestie, Eddie Balthazar! Loves throwing parties (based on the 1st ‘isle’ book again, saying he throws great parties)- he just enjoys the effort, the pay off & it helps him unwind (good for him. ambivert vibes).

Thinking up business strategies, accounting & book keeping! (Why are these in his hobbies? He finds it pretty fun when it all works out. So generally ‘plotting’? Yeah. Likes things organised), being a taste tester for his sibling’s food creations (they’re just good at it), dignifiedly sassing annoying isle people (mostly villains, some won’t get it sometimes) & learnin‘ stuff like languages!

He can play the piano but not really something he likes as much (wind instruments aren't his thing just like they weren’t his mum’s thing). Probs likes the idea of dueling but not exactly good at it?

Hadie: Likes rock & roll music like his dad, maybe he likes giving himself new piercings as a hobby? (met someone who did this irl! sounds cool but be careful). Likes to be a pest to the villains who are horrible parents and people (like him bothering Frollo to do his fortune quite regularly- @panthera-tigris-venenata made a post bout this! Give it a read, it's such a treat).

is the prince of the underworld so he likes to practice magic with his dad though you don’t really see results on the isle cause of the no-magic nature of the barrier (I suppose other magic users also found it very hard learning magic without well, magic! His irises glow yellow sometimes & his blue hair lights on fire so some magic still is kinda visible.)

Likes hanging out with his friends! Oh and his cousin, Freddie (if one hcs Freddie being Ursula’s daughter which I adore) and by extension Celia (who isn't Ursula’s kid in mine so not his blood cousin but he still treats her like one)

Chad: Dude won’t ever admit it but doing chores helps him clear his head and he likes cleanliness cause his mom wanted to still know some responsibility (never forced him to do it though). Likes sports and also shopping! He can sew but like only repair stuff. He can cook some basics but not a hobby of his and not something he ever has to do.

Jenna, Rafi, Salima, Aziz (& their two lil siblings in mine): Hanging out with family, friends and pets.

All love going on long magic carpet rides. (‘Borders? Air traffic? Aw, bless your heart.’ They have like no need for passports on carpet rides & Agrabah’s got it as a clause in their agreement. The royal family doesn’t need those. (reminds me of how irl the British royal family’s head doesn’t need a passport). They have passports though. This is a new idea I just had & yeah. Can have a lot of exploration).

They love travelling. Probs try different modes of travel.

Aziz can Skateboard (based on Jasmine skateboarding in an Aladdin console game XD. Can't remember which game it was rn. But ‘Nasira's Revenge’ maybe? Feel free to correct me if I remembered the wrong game. While trying to find a pic, I found a doll of Jaz with Carpet as a skateboard so interesting.)

Anxelin & Ruby: Too many cause of their mom, Rapunzel's many hobbies and how it inspired them. They love trying out new stuff and are pretty adventurous. Their favourite book series is obv the 'Flynnigan Rider series'.

Top 10 Sofia the First Songs

Fuck it, I know most of you dont give a shit about Sofia the First but this show has been a sheer delight for me so y'all gonna sit down, shut up and appreciate some good music. The music in this show is much like the music in Friendship is Magic. They both went way too hard than they needed to.

Here's the top 10 best songs in Sofia the First

10. King Cedric the Great

Villain songs are always fun and its even better when the villain singing it is about as dangerous as a rubber duck. Cedric is the true example of how to write a sympathetic villain. He's a hapless sorceror who's actually really good at magic but his anxiety combined with everyone (except Sofia and his niece Calista) viewing him as some kind of loser are the reason why he wants to take over the kingdom cos he thinks that's the only way he can get respect. As this song illustrates how he wants Sofia's amulet so he can use its powers, but as the episode goes on, he finds out he doesnt really have it in him to be truly evil for reasons I won't go into, cos the episode this song's from is SO good. Its called Cedric's Apprentice if anyone wants to look it up.

As for the song itself, its a homage to classic Disney villain songs but Cedric's plan is so childishly over the top its hard to take him seriously, which is the song's intention. Its a great juxtaposition. Jess Harnell's singing is just the ham on top of these cheese sandwich.

He really has a knack for playing characters that are totally wacko

9. Wendell's Way

Speaking of sorcerors, here's another villain: a kid named Wendell. A spoilt brat who stole all the flying horses of Enchancia for his birthday. He's like if Horrid Henry went to that terf wizard school. The song itself has a very boisterious energy, amplified by the hard rock drums and the lute/guitar solo?? which makes it all the more satisfying when Sofia, Amber and James get the upper hand in the end and Wendell's mother comes out of nowhere to ground him, its fucking great. Its nice to see a bully character actually stay a bully and not get force-redeemed by the writers so they can pull the 'everyone deserves a second chance' message , when in actuality, no, some people really are that mean and you're not obligated to give a shit about a bully. Wendell is, in retrospect, a breath of fresh air as the song doesnt pull some sad backstory out of the aether to make you feel sorry for this kid. No, he's just that selfish.

Also the lyric: 'That is a promise, but also a threat' is fucking great.

Its a simple song but a bop nonetheless.

8. Make Some Noise

Sometimes a song is good when its just plain fun. And this song definitely applies. In the episode this is from, Sofia befriends a bunch of trolls living under the castle that everyone warns her are dangerous and violent and here... theyre actually super chill. The fact that Sofia instantly gets into the groove is delightful and again showcases how compassionate she is.

The song itself has a fun, jazzy melody with the trolls using thier equivalents of piano, trumpets and of course their clubs. It's such a feel good song, almost like the voice actors just got up from the chairs and just danced like they dont give a shit and the directors just hit record. It really feels like a song you would hear at a party. Even the repeated animation doesnt bother me.

7. A Princess True

One of this show's biggest weakness is portraying people from different cultures cos its clear the show is made by mostly white people who have a limited understanding of non-white cultures and can easily fall into racist stereotypes without realising it. Its not by any means racist as the show features plenty of non white side characters (Khaled, Kashmir, Jun, Jin and Kari) that the main cast are on friendly terms with. But here, this song is relatively tame as this song is all about Sofia, a white girl, believing in Lani, a Hawaiian girl, as her actions throughout the episode are proof she's the real deal.

In the episode, Princess Leilani lost her family heirloom the Emerald Key into the sea after fighting an evil witch, where it gets washed up in Enchancia so Leilani goes to the castle to get the key back, cos its a key to help her parents find their way home from the sea. However, the witch Mamanu disguises herself as Leilani as well so she can trick the Enchancian royal family into giving her the Key. So Roland puts both Lanis to the test but the test involves the Lanis to act like THEIR cultural view of royalty. Sofia notices one of the Lanis aces it and the other competely fails at it and does something different instead. So Sofia thinks the latter is the real princess and this song is her showing her full support and belief that Lani is the true princess.

Its a very sweet song to a very meaty episode which is why I had to explain in full detail. Its not perfect but the song really encapsulates Sofia's and the show's earnestness towards non-white characters and I appreciate that. It helps the creator is Jewish and went on to make a show all about Latina culture and did actual research on it. So this song, and the episode itself is a good, albeit rocky start.

Even if they fucked it up with giving Lani powers in the next episode she appeared in, goddammnit why the magical native stereotype we were so close!!!!!

6. Me and My Mom

Creator Craig Gerber has stated many times that one of Sofia the First's core themes is teaching kids about blended families and how to adapt after getting new parents and step siblings in your life (since he was a child of divorce himself and had to adapt to having a new father and siblings). This song is about Sofia's struggles to adapt now that she has to share her mother with Amber and James. You really feel sorry for Sofia cos she's so used to having her mother being the only family she has and of course, is easily attached to her.

Its a very soft, heartfelt song that resonates with a lot of kids that are in Sofia's position. I bet they felt very seen by this episode.

5. Improvise

In the episode, Amber wants to join in Sofia's girl scout group but in typical Amber fashion, she brought nothing but dresses and jewellry to an outdoor trip and forgot to pack a tent. So Sofia and her friends teach her how to improvise via musical number. A cute lesson about being resourceful and a great example of Amber becoming a more versatile character as she grows to love the outdoors.

There's a very jovial, motivational energy to the song that really makes it stand out from the usual pep-talk songs in this show. What else can I say? Its a highlight of Amber's character development and a fun little song to boot. Whats not to love?

4. Two By Two

Amber's relationship with her sister Sofia is always expanded upon in the show but her relationship with brother James is a lot less so since Amber and James sparsely interact beyond typical sibling teasing. So its nice this episode, and this song helps establish how much Amber actually cares about her twin brother.

In the episode, Amber accidentally turns James into a toddler thanks to a botched magic spell cos Amber didnt want to share her birthday but as her and Sofia run around trying to find baby James. Sofia suggests to Amber to sing the twin song that James and Amber used to sing all the time when they were little. (which is just adorable)

I love how Amber starts the song in a very deadpan, almost annoyed tone until the second verse hits and slowly her singing becomes more melancholy and emotional, like the fact that her twin being lost is just now hitting her. Especially since she spent the whole episode wishing to have a birthday to herself for once, not realising that she's taking away James' birthday and thus losing him too. That small bit of her looking at the pocket watch with her and James' portrait it, finally finding baby James behind the throne, picking him up and hugging him and them finishing the song together

STOP, MY FUCKING HEART CANT TAKE THE AMOUNT OF CUTE

Its so nice to see a sibling relationship that's actually wholesome.

3. Dare to Risk It All

One of Amber's biggest flaws is her envy and her getting over being an jealous bitch to her little sister is a lesson that Amber has always had to learn in the show's earlier seasons. And while she has made some development, this is the episode where Amber makes the most change. And this song is emblematic of that.

Dare To Risk It All has Rapunzel appear to teach Amber that you have to put other's needs before your own to earn forgiveness, to prove you can change, which is a lesson not a lot of kids shows teach nowadays cos most shows like Steven Universe and even MLP put the pressure on the victim to forgive their bullies or let them off easy (especially if they're family) but in this episode, Sofia is rightfully angry at Amber for stealing her amulet and isnt afraid to snap at her for it the whole episode so Amber throughout this song (and the episode) realising how much Sofia means to her and it puts the pressure on Amber to be a better person and a better sister.

Its one of the few good Disney Princess songs the show has. The Disney Princess aspect of the show is honestly its biggest crutch cos Sofia always has a good role model with her mother and her dad to some extent and the princesses havent exactly had the best trakc record for teaching good lessons to Sofia since they either state the obvious or gaslight her. So its nice to see the princesses teach someone else for a change. And its Rapunzel, the best Disney princess.

Also bonus points for having a good song about earning forgiveness whilst flying dragons.

2. Princess Things

Sofia wants to do flying horse-racing even though mostly boys at her school do that sport and both Amber and Sofia's rival Prince Hugo are discouraging her from trying out the sport. Its your typical girl empowerment message. While the pilot episode established the whole premise, this episode (Just One of the Princes) and this song establishes Sofia's character: a pro-active princess who doesnt fall for anyone's bullshit, which is perfect for a moral center protagonist.

I love how Sofia's expression throughout the song goes from confused to smiling like she's internally screaming. And her verses are basically 'screw you guys i do whatever the fuck i want.' So not only did everyone waste their time singing to convince Sofia but in fact made her even MORE CONVINCED to try out the flying horse derby. Good job, guys.

Aside from that, the song itself is a bop. The repeated chorus really emphasises the peer pressure Sofia is going through. Second episode of the series and they're already making a hit.

1. All You Need

In the episode, Sofia meets Vivian, a princess who's a great artist and musician but is painfully shy and thus everyone is spreading rumours around her. Even Sofia was a bit apprehensive but she pushes through it to meet Vivian at her house whilst they work on their school project and this delightful song just pops up.

I love how it starts with Vivian nervously playing her lute and Sofia starts singing, whilst helping her IN SONG start brainstorming their ideas for a dream castle. Then after Sofia's verse is done: ending with the lyric, Ill paint all the towers blue, now the rest is up to you, Vivian immediately jumps and enthusiastically suggest her own ideas. The music even matches the tone of the characters. When it starts, its only Vivian's lute and a backing track but as soon as the bridge comes, the music swells when Sofia's singing motivates Vivian and its just chef kiss.

This song, as well as the episode this was from, made me really like Vivian as a side character and I always loved her interactions with Sofia whenever she made an appearance. I like how she retained her newfound confidence into later seasons, where she becomes just as pro-active as Sofia.

This song, to me, is what Sofia the First is all about. A girl who's just the sunniest child, befriending the shy kid in her class and having the most adorable musical number. Are there songs with better lyrics and theming? Absolutely. But the sheer serotonin levels this song has, as well as encapsulating the main character's compassion for others, is why this is the best song of the show
