Collision
She still remembers how big his hand felt clutched about the back of her neck like a vice, dark fingers applying just enough pressure to her carotid arteries to make her head feel light and flimsy. But she was still alert and keenly aware of the mess she'd made. The trouble she was in. The looming threat of oblivion creeping in out of the corners of her vision, an abrubt and unceremonious end to a short and miserable story. Only appropriate, Eluthéria supposed—that she would find her end in the clutches of the man she was born to live and die for.
Commander Adam hoisted her Petite frame off of the shiftless cadaver upon which the dimunative soldier had perched like a peckish kerstrel. She heard him click his tongue through the thumping heartbeat in her ears, but she couldn't see him. He made sure to angle her head far away from his person, tapered talons digging deep trenches into the base of her skull. She struggled to find her footing. Skinny arms rose to cross themselves over her naked chest—the motion exacerbated the cat-o-nine-tail's latest object of vicious art stretching astride her pale back. A fresh, abstract portrait in the museum of suffering that is her frangible body.
"Drop it."
She'd only ever heard his voice booming from the Carmine pride skies on the eve of new years, the thunder which heralds the great annual slaughter of the wicked and damned. It didn't sound half as imposing inside this cramped stone chamber, but she would not make him tell her twice. Wouldn't dare—not inclined to make her suicide any more torturous than it needed to be. Spindly fingers uncurled from about the circumference of the spear-head she'd illicitly nabbed from the arms depot. Blessed. Deadly.
It clattered to the ground at her feet. The pool of ichor dampening the sound of metal meeting with stone but she flinched anyway. That made him laugh. It's was soft but pointedly derisive sound.
"Woof! Feisty little thing. A bit on the scrawny side. Are they skimping on your rations? For shame. C'mere. Let me look at you."
With that, his big hand slid Up along the meager curve of her neck, his fingers, thick and coarse, bunched her ratty bird's nest up into the hollow of his palm, which promptly balled into a tight fist, flush against her scalp. Adam turned her head on the axis of her spine so that she would face him, vis-á-vis, his gilded lightning against her ruby flames.
She remembers thinking that he had beautiful eyes. An odd thought to dedicate to somebody so vicious, maybe, but she always had a way with finding beauty in the macabre.
Those eyes roved her tremulous form, clad only in a threadbare pair of boxer type shorts.
She'd never felt so naked. Not because his gaze was overtly lascivious in nature but because it pierced and bored through her, like he was looking right into the core of her being. For a moment she wondered if he might be able to read her mind, but she banished the notion quickly. If he could see the playback of the events which had transpired inside this chamber, now tomb, he would not be so soft. This was his subordinate, after all, a trusted comerade in arms, and she had not been kind in her ministrations. She made him suffer, the same way he had made her suffer.
And she enjoyed every second of it.
If the commander had not barged in, she would've liked to spend more time with his body, looking at his insides, picking them apart, watching as every sign that this thing had ever been alive slowly evaporates, and chiseling it all into the deepest niches of her mind so that these precious moments might continue to bring her joy for the rest of her life—however short it might be.
But when does she ever get the things that she wants?
"You know, ordinarily, this type'a stunt might have left me a touch, hmmm, irked. But hell, i gotta tip my proverbial hat to you, pretty bird. Impressive work! Really! The cards weren't exactly stacked in your favor—I mean, obviously...look at you! Shrimpy little cherub looking ass! Hah! And yet here you are, alive and kicking. I dare say we might be looking at an act of divine intervention. What a world!Allelujah, amen and all that good shit!"
Swaying on her feet, Eluthéria looked up at this man, who was easily twice her size, with all the bewilderment of a toddler hearing a foreign language spoken at her for the first time in her life. She saw his lips move, heard the sounds but she couldn't by any means process what exactly he was trying to tell her. Adrenaline. Exhaustion. Fear. It all bore down on her like a big stack of cinderblocks, threatened to crush her frangible faculties under it's enormous heft.
Tears. First one. Then two. She blinked, and all at oncethe floodgates ruptured. This took him off guard.
"Oho, no,  no! None of this sniffling nonsense! You don't perform a top grade kill like that and then cry about it! Come on, girl, suck it up."
Adam swiped a calloused hand somewhat brutishly across her porcelain countenance, whisking away the brunt of the tears and the blood and the sweat. She didn't object. she wanted to, make no mistake. The touch of his skin against hers felt like needles in her brain, an absolutely vile sensation, she wanted nothing more than to be rid of it, but she hadn't the verve to make a fuss.
He shrugged his intricately embroidery cloak off his shoulders and draped it around hers.
Warm.
"Alright, come on, let's see if you've got any more fancy tricks up your sleeve, eh?"
His grip on her stark white locks slackened, and he ushered her towards the steel doors.
She remembers thinking that this was the day she was going to die.
In many ways, she supposes that wasn't an entirely inaccurate assumption.

Somebody better be dying | Danny Wagner
Idk if this is really a full fic? More of a really long blurb, but I was listening to Halloween by Phoebe and I needed to write about it.
Content warnings: None really, an ambulance as well as sirens are briefly mentioned.
Playlist:
Halloween by Phoebe Bridgers
Your Best American Girl by Mitski
“I hate living by the hospital, The sirens go all night I used to joke that if they woke you up, Somebody better be dying”
- Halloween by Phoebe Bridgers
The sheets were warm, more so on my right than my left. Danny radiated heat like no one I had ever met, and usually I liked the warmth, but tonight I felt unsettled.
Danny had fallen asleep an hour ago, but I had tossed and turned. We lived on the third story of our apartment building so I usually kept the blinds half open, both of us enjoying the sunlight in the morning and the vast void of night. It felt a little psycho to not close them all the way, since I had always lived on a first floor, but no one could see us. Moonlight barely grazed my face through the blinds, making shadows stripe across the room.
I didn’t know why I was awake, but the nagging feeling in my gut told me something was off.
In the distance I could hear a faint screaming of sirens. Was this why I felt so off tonight? I slid out from under the sheets and comforter as quietly as I could, not wanting to wake Danny. Through the blinds, blue and red lights entered the room, painting the walls and ceiling.
I snuck up to the window, picking up a blind to see better. An ambulance pulled up across the parking lot, squealing into place as EMS jumped out of the vehicle.
“What’s going on?” Danny mumbled from the bed, words slurred from sleep, eyes barely open.
“It’s okay baby, go back to sleep.” I assured him. “It’s an ambulance across the street.” I said not looking away from the window. They had gone up the stairs to the second floor and went to the left. Maybe the Johnsons or the Lee’s? I couldn’t remember.
I heard the sound of sheets shifting and looked back to see Danny clumsily getting out of bed, one leg of his sweatpants hiked up half his leg.
“Think someone’s hurt?” He asked, coming up behind me and resting his head on my shoulder. His arms wrapped around my torso while grabbing and pulling my robe tighter around me as he went. He knew I stayed cold.
“Better be if they woke you up.” I pouted, “I don’t even remember who lives there, do you?”
“Maybe the Lee’s?” He suggested, his fingers fiddling with the empty belt loops for my robe.
“That’s what I was thinking.” I replied.
I crossed my arms loosely around me, fingers grazing his wrists.
“I know I’m sleep deprived so this may be slightly tone deaf...” he whispered, I looked back at him to find him already looking at me. “Hmmm,” I prompted him to continue.
“You look really beautiful in the ambulance light.” He grinned, pressing a kiss to my temple.
I smiled, “you look beautiful in any light.” I countered, as he rolled his eyes but grinned lazily. He rested his head on the top of mine, he was just tall enough to.
“Hmmm,” he sighed, I could feel the vibrations on my head. “You’re deflecting. Just let me tell you how amazing my girlfriend is. She’s the prettiest, most talented and intelligent person I know, and I know a lot of people.” He said.
I know he couldn’t see my face, but I still lit up like a Christmas tree.
“You know David Grohl.” I reminded him.
“Oh yeah, the second prettiest person I know then.” He laughed.
I shrugged, “How am I expected to compete?”
“It’s David Grohl honey, no one can compete.” He said, pulling himself off of me and just grabbing onto my arm instead. “Let’s go back to bed, we have the Christmas tree farm tomorrow.” He tugged at me.
“Yeah okay,” I replied, giving one last glance out the window to see nothing new before dropping the blind.
Danny just fell into my side and rolled half way over to the center, most of my side still being taken up.
“Come on, move over.” I requested, setting my knee on the mattress.
He didn’t say anything in response, just patted his chest and extended his arms to me.
I sighed a little, but relented, laying down practically on top of him. My head on his chest, close to his neck, my legs the only part of me on the mattress.
“You couldn’t sleep.” He stated simply.
I blinked for a second, trying to remember if I had said that earlier. “How’d you know?” I asked.
“When you’re asleep, a full orchestra couldn’t wake you, you sleep like the dead. I’ve played Metallica on full volume right next to your ear and nothing. Sam has the video if you want proof. An ambulance is not going to wake you up.” He explained.
“Oh… wait, when did you let Sam record me sleeping?” I asked, propping my head up on my arm so I could see his face.
He looked down at me, eyes widening for a fraction of a second before he promptly shut them tight.
“Uh uh, nope.” I said sitting up to grab hold of his shoulders, leaning over his face. “When did you let a lunatic around the defenseless love of your life, you creep?” I laughed, shaking him gently.
His lips turned up ever so slightly, “shhhh, I’m asleep” he whispered, keeping his eyes closed and turning his head away.
“Okay, two can play that game Wagner.” I said, laying back down. “Sam is easy enough to get information from. I’ll ask him tomorrow.”
Danny didn’t say anything at first, just placed his hand on my back, “that’s okay, I’ll get to him first.” He said sleepily, raising his other hand to rest it over his eyes.
“We’ll see about that.”

@fishy-moirails HI RAIN! SO! I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND ME MAKING A POST HERE IN RESPONSE TO YOUR TAGS, BECAUSE THIS GIVES ME AN EXCUSE TO TALK ABOUT MY CHARACTER HEHE.
my good ol' invader zim self insert. now, I LOVE aliens, as I'm sure people know, and I usually make my self insert an alien when applicable because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. but for iz, I decided... hmmm. y'know what? let's make him a regular human to contrast zim.
he's sort of the antithesis to zim, and yet at the same time, they're both incredibly similar - they just don't realize it. lex is somebody who doesn't fit in with his peers and feels ostracized by society because of things about him that aren't under his control... sound familiar?
Tumblr media
the two aren't as different as they may think. I enjoy the concept of characters that contrast eachother but deep down fundamentally share the same traits - just channeled differently.
zim is out to destroy all humans. he wants to conquer the earth and win the respect of the tallest so they'll finally see potential in him.
lex, on the other hand... has given up on caring about how others view him. he feels alienated, so he takes that and turns it literal. he loves the idea of otherworldly extraterrestrial life (of course he does, he's ME!) because he relates so much more to aliens than he does to other humans!
he's incredibly fascinated with them - to a much less paranoid extent than dib. he doesn't want to expose an alien, or have an alien autopsy video named after him, he wants to make friends with one!
to zim, of course, this is nothing but absurd. and lex loves that! because that's exactly how he would react if an alien felt that way about his species! he would think it was strange and probably a bit stupid!
zim GETS him. even if zim... doesn't... get him. but, like. HE gets ZIM. but, he... okay I lost track of my thought process.
anyways this doesn't answer your question at all and I'm so sorry so here's your answer: lex is a regular human, in that drawing disguised as an alien through wacky shenanigans that probably ensued (likely involving zim and gir) :)

aphrodite’s rage
warnings: swearing, nora being angry, drugs (weed), breakup. Enjoy!
author’s note: meet nora! can’t wait for everyone to see more of her :) Also, sorry about the song change, just thought this fit nora and matty’s story and plus george produced it!
Tumblr media
“Nora, don’t be ridiculous! We’re good, we’re us. I still love you.”
“But thats the thing Derek, I don’t. You don’t value me, you don’t even let me talk about my job for gods sake! All we do is sit around and talk about you, your needs, your wants. Well, what about what I want hmm? Has that even crossed your mind for a second in our relationship? Have you ever for even a minute not thought about you?” Nora’s voice echoes around the apartment, voice as sweet as ambrosia, but tongue sharp enough to wound the devil. It has been exactly 19 days since she came home from Vegas, from Matty.
Oh Matty. The only person to make her feel seen, heard and understood. The only person to make her feel like a human again. The only person to actually love her.
“This is about him, isn’t it? That guy you met on your trip?” Derek dares, Matty’s name alone enough to strike fear in his veins. Derek doesn’t dare say it.
“So, what the fuck if it is, Derek? So what if I felt special for once? So, what if it somebody made me feel good enough for once? Hmmm answer me when I talk to you!” She spits back at him. A wildfire in her eyes. “Derek, I need you to get this through your thick, dull skull. I don’t love you. I haven’t for awhile.” She thunders.
He stands and looks at her, not a thought behind his eyes. Just a big, dumb idiot. Why did she even fall for this oaf, she thinks. He couldn’t be more opposite than Matty. Matty, she sighs again. Sweet, caring, spontaneous, funny, smart, interesting, fashionable and a menace with the smile of a saint. Nora shivers at the memory of him in that suit the night in vegas, goosebumps flood her skin.
“Matty… if you can even stomach his name… is the greatest person who has ever come into my life, you dick!” Continuing to reign hellfire on her now bumbling boyfriend.
“Oh please, Nora get real! He (Derek still refusing to say his name) just met you like two weeks ago and I have known you since you were 20.” He tries to reason with her, seeing her slip away.
“Hey dipshit, people change! If you think I am still the same young, naive, stoned-out-of-her-mind girl from all those years ago then you are more hopeless than I thought.” Her words like venom. “Derek, may these be the last words I ever have to say to you: we are over.” The final words getting lodged in his psyche. Haunting him.
And with that, she grabs her stuff and walks out of the apartment head held high. She’ll have movers come get her stuff tomorrow and get it to her apartment in Brooklyn.
Stepping out, she inhales the new sense of freedom that surrounds her. Taking out the celebratory joint she kept hidden in her tote bag, she lights up and makes her way towards Walt Whitman park. Puffing on the herb as she struts down the street, she feels reborn. A new, fresh woman. One totally disconnected from her old life, Derek being the final string to it. Derek being the only thing tugging her back in life, towards childish things. He never did understand her now thinking about it. He never got her desire for a career, always telling her she had him to fall back on and not seeing any issue with her being totally dependent on him. He never got her taste in music or her new friends, always suggesting they hang out with people from high school - people who may as well have been taking bets on her downfall and selling tickets to her demise. Her only thought regarding those people, and now Derek was fuck ‘em.
Joint now halfway gone and Nora’s head feeling light and hazy, she gets to the park. Deciding to sit on an empty patch of the lawn and finish her celebration. Digging in her tote bag, finding her phone. Going through her texts she finds one from Matty from two days ago when he got back to the UK. Checking the time, its 7pm in London.
One ring, then two.
“Hey Nor, whats up?” He asks, voice perfectly husky. She relaxes and melts at the pet name.
“Guess who is a free woman, Handsome?” His heart stops. Smile erupting across his face.
“No way, gorgeous. You finally did it?”
“Just got finished, think he is still shell shocked. Now celebrating.”
“As you should. He seemed like a fucking twat anyways.” He remarks.
“I think you’d like to know he couldn’t even say your name. Couldn’t even stomach me saying it.” She tells him, he smirks on the other end of the phone.
“Can’t believe you even liked him, honey. Sounds like a total wanker.”
“Trust me, he is. Anyways, I don’t have much tying to me to New York now and I’m sure I can find a place in London to work out of. Was gonna take a flight there next week and shack up in a hotel-“
“Or, you could stay with me. Save the money plus you could wake and bake with me.” He offers, smiling at the idea of waking up with her every day, of playing house.
“You got yourself a deal, Healy. But, no funny business mister! I’m single, I wanna have fun for a bit.”
“Oh trust me darling, you haven’t known fun until you’ve been in London at night.” He reassures, mouth salivating over the thought of her in a club dress and running around with him at night. Fuck, he is a goner.
The next day, Nora books a one-way flight to London and starts shopping, trying to pick things she deems as being especially tantalizing, deciding she is gonna torture Matty for however long she is there. A mischievous giggle leaves her throat, oh this is gonna be fun.
— 1 week later —
The double decker plane touches down in Heathrow airport. It is late and Nora slept terribly on the flight. Texting Matty that she landed safely and giving him the arrival information, she stands up to grab her overhead bag. Her hoodie comforting her and baggy sweatpants pool at her ankles. She pulls her headphones around her neck as she walks in the direction of checked luggage and grabbing her suitcases. Next is customs, thanking the lord she didn’t pack any weed betting on Matty having a full stock at his house. The customs officer asks her if she’s staying for business or pleasure and she responds by pausing and then decidedly saying pleasure and adding that she got a visitor’s visa approved by the UK embassy in New York last week. He nods sternly and confirms that yes, she did. Stamping the US passport and sending her on her way to the pickup location.
In the crowd of families reuniting, soldiers rushing to their partners, siblings hugging and lovers kissing she spots a card.
“Thee Ms. Nora Downey.”
The man behind the sign looks positively drool worthy. First off, he has stubble that dances across his defined jaw accentuating his features. Secondly, he’s wearing an old Yankees hat low hiding his eyes from anyone who may recognize them and as a way to tease Nora, fully knowing she prefers the Mets. Third, he’s wearing a tight crisp white shirt letting his iconic tattoos creep out from the hems and sleeves hugging his defined biceps. Finally, she sees a pair of baby blue adidas track pants hang low from his waist with a pair of battered gazelles. If she could jump him, she would. She composes herself, trying to get her voice to be even when she greets him.
From his view, she could not look any cuter. Hoodie tied at the neck, brunette hair creeping out from underneath and black headphones cover her neck. He makes a note to himself to litter it with hickeys at some point during her trip. Her grey sweatpants adorably too long for her frame and black sambas barely visible. She softly smiles at him as the escalator descends, her nerves increasing at he grows closer. He reciprocates.
Finally being within arms reach of her, he pulls her to his chest. Wrapping his arms around her and breathing in her perfume - coffee and vanilla with a little smoke - he hums. Content to have his favorite girl in his town and getting to be her personal tour guide for however long he is lucky enough to have her. He already scheduled for them to go on a guided tour of the Tate Modern tomorrow night and grab some dinner. The guys were gonna meet her in a couple days - Adam being the most eager since he was a fan of her work.
Her head is tucked into his shoulder, smiling ear to ear as she feels his shoulder relax under her arms. She breathes calmly - smelling the lavender and mint cologne she has come to love. She marvels at the fact that she was ready to go to bed just 45 minutes ago when she landed, but now feeling wide awake in his presence.
“Hi, honey. Missed you, can’t wait to show you just how…fun… I can be.” He smirks, ready to be just the most enchanting version of himself.
“Oh, you’re on, Handsome. I was born to be…fun.” She teases, mirroring his smirk.
She feels him shudder. Oh she’s got this in the bag.

Thou Shalt Not Fall: Declaration of War
Warriors and animals don't necessarily get along.
Lon Lon Ranch was Twilight's second home.
He enjoyed the hard work, pushing his body in ways that he couldn't with combat. He loved being around all the animals. He loved ignoring the pressures of their adventure for a bit, pretending that nothing existed outside of the tall walls of the ranch. He enjoyed watching the others unwind too and enjoy the simpler things in life. Even Warriors, the one who seemed the most out of place at the ranch at a glance, was able to wind down.
In fact, the ranch became one of the places where Warriors fell into a particularly deep sleep almost without fail. Actually, the more Twilight thought about it, it was always in a place that the others called home where Warriors slept the best. The others figured it was because that was where he felt the safest. He was surrounded by people he trusted and houses – or cave, in Hyrule's case – were a lot more secure than being out in the open, so he was able to just let himself go. Twilight agreed with that notion generally but he wondered sometimes if there was more to it.
Like if it was a scent thing. Warriors never mentioned it but just based on the fact he always perked up from the smallest whiff of blood, practically jumped at the smallest whiff of garlic, and the fact that he knew monsters were coming before anyone else, Twilight knew the captain was 'blessed' with heightened senses too. Being absolutely surrounded by the scent of somebody he trusted might be comforting and maybe it reminded him that he was safe even when he was still half-asleep. Twilight knew better than to say that out loud though.
Regardless of why he slept so well though, sometimes, when nearly everything in the universe was aligned, Warriors woke up for breakfast even when he was a house guest. It was very rare for him to not sleep in all day while at the ranch, but it sometimes, he was up with the sun and ready to burn away his excess energy.
And it was one of those days, where Warriors was actually wide awake in the morning, that war was declared.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It started with a simple conversation with Legend the day before. Twilight was hauling bales of hay and Legend was sweeping in the barn, whistling to himself. He was tempted to join him but he wasn't sure he was familiar enough with the tune. Warriors was in the house on his second day of hibernation. Usually, he didn't need two days of deep sleep but nobody else, especially Time, seemed particularly worried so Twilight tried to not think about too much. If Time wasn't worried, then there was no reason for Twilight to worry.
“What was it about Warriors that your wolf form doesn't like again?” Legend asked when they were alone.
Twilight bit his lips and thought hard. Legend seemed to be one of the only ones who noticed that Wolfie would sit as far away from Warriors as he could. It made him feel bad because he knew Warriors was a trusted ally, a brother if he was honest with himself, but his instincts just screamed danger and it was hard for him to fight against that particular instinct. It was hard to describe the feeling though.
“It's like... something about him is wrong. Unnatural. His existence goes against the laws of nature... this feels so wrong to say,” Twilight mumbled quietly, only loud enough for Legend to hear. He pinched the bridge of his nose before running a hand through his hair. “I guess it's like... if a river's current went up a hill? The river might look normal at first but when you realize something isn't right about it, even if you couldn't quite put your finger on it, it would put you on edge, you know? Like, I know he's a vampire now and I've always known he wouldn't harm me, but it doesn't stop the flight or fight instincts. I don't feel like unless I'm shifted though.”
“Hmmm, I think I can understand,” Legend mumbled, putting a hand on his chin as he thought on it.
“I can always lend you the crystal. You can get a feel for yourself.”
“Hard pass,” Legend muttered, waving his other hand. “Why do you think I asked you?”
Twilight blinked and tilted his head as he tried to think of how the conversation started but he came up empty. Legend just kind of asked him out of the blue. “...why did you ask me again?”
“Wolfie isn't the only animal to react to him poorly. Remember how that dog chased him around the stable?” Twilight nodded. He did talk that dog after and thankfully, as long as Wild was around, nobody at the stables questioned a wolf sitting with a dog. He knew the dog had similar feelings, having also perceived a threat to the stable from his presence. If it wasn't for the reaction of the handlers, and Twilight's own assurances that Warriors wouldn't bring harm to anybody in the stable, the dog would have chased him again. “Have you ever thought about the fact that a particular, dangerous animal hasn't tried to attack him yet?”
Twilight twisted his lips in thought. Most of the cattle were docile and would probably just avoid him unless he went out of his way to bother them. That went for the ones that had the potential to be dangerous due to their sheer size too. As long as you kept your eye on them, you were generally pretty safe.
Then he thought about it a little more.
And then it dawned on him.
“He isn't stupid. He knows to stay away from the cuccos.”
“But what if his general presence on the ranch is enough to provoke them? What if they're planning something?”
Twilight turned his head, watching a cucco peck at the ground outside of the barn. Cuccos haven't attacked him personally, they were actually pretty calm in his Hyrule if not a little odd, but he has seen what they could do courtesy of Wild's weird not-magical slate. He didn't doubt the horror stories from the others either. He knew a cucco who organized a game with a bunch of stray cats so he knew they could be very intelligent. They could definitely be planning something, they had the ability to organize other creatures under a common cause.
“Do you think they would attack us?” Twilight was not interested in finding out what it was like to be mauled by a cucco. He had a great streak so far and he wasn't interested in breaking it.
Legend shrugged and frowned.
“Well, we don't actually know anything yet and if we told him to watch out for them, he would just laugh at us because of course you look out for cuccos.”
“Unfortunately, this is just speculation. I hope we're wrong but if they feel the same way you do... I don't know want to be around when they finally do something about it.”
“Neither do I."
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Warriors was up in time for breakfast that day and got to work with some construction projects, helping Time and Talon build an extension to the barn. Twilight was watching them as he walked in and out of the barn, hauling more hay again. Legend was nearby the construction group, happily refreshing some of the faded paint on the barn. He even stuck his tongue out a little as he worked. Twilight had no idea that Legend enjoyed painting but he was learning something new about his brothers every day.
He couldn't help but to think about his conversation with Legend the day before, so whenever he was leaving the barn, he would take a quick glance at Warriors.
It seemed that Warriors was at least aware of the effect he had on animals. He seemed to do his best to steer clear of the animals when he could, enough for Talon to ask him if he was afraid of them. Warriors looked like he wished the sun could kill him just so he could avoid answering the question. Twilight couldn't hear whatever the captain said to change the topic but he could still see the blush on his cheeks. That, or the sun was burning his face again. One of the two. Maybe both.
Talon called for lunch and that's when a few cuccos wandered out of their coop. Time and Talon continued back to the house, discussing something between the two of them. Legend opted to stay, saying that he wasn't that hungry and he would probably grab a snack later. When he turned to see if the captain was coming, Warriors didn't say anything or even move.
Twilight watched Warriors. Warriors watched the cuccos. The cuccos stood together, watching Warriors, almost like they were challenging him with their beady little eyes to do something. Legend was still painting, completely aware of the building tension, kneeling down to paint the bottom of the barn.
Twilight could see him biting his lips with normal teeth. There was a slight shake in his shoulders. Whatever the staring contest – the most intense staring contest he ever saw, Twilight added in his mind – between the two parties meant, it was getting to their captain.
Don't fuck it up, Wars, don't fuck it up, just leave, they don't instigate-
Warriors hissed.
The cuccos squawked.
Twilight didn't know who let out the first curse. Legend immediately jumped to his feet and ran to Twilight, just barely getting out of the way of the feathery storm that swarmed for Warriors. The captain, to his credit, was long gone. By the time Legend moved, the captain was already halfway across the field, using speed that the rancher knew he could only reach using his vampire powers.
And the frightening thing was, the cuccos were catching up. Warriors was cursed with supernatural abilities, and the cuccos were making gains. Apparently, not even a vampire could completely outrun an angry cucco.
He almost reached the fence when another group of cuccos came from his left. He was forced to quickly turn right and run along the length of the walls. One of them got alarming close to his heels and almost tripped on the bird but thankfully, he managed to regain his footing. Warriors was failing to put any distance between himself and the cuccos though and Twilight was getting worried. He knew Warriors could heal better than any of them but that didn't mean he wanted to see the resulting blood bath.
“I thought you said he wasn't stupid!” Legend cried out.
“It doesn't take a genius to know you don't hiss at cuccos! Sorry for thinking that the guy who comes up with the battle plans knows not to provoke them!”
Warriors looked to be tiring. Twilight didn't know how to help but it wasn't like Warriors was asking for it. He stayed quiet, despite his ordeal.
When Twilight thought that the cuccos were finally going to catch up, Warriors sped up in what looked like a final push. He jumped and disappeared over the wall. The cuccos squawked and jumped at the wall, eventually settling when they seemed to realize that Warriors wasn't catching up and they couldn't follow him either. In an instant, they went from an angry swarm of terror to regular birds who were just milling about. It was kind of scary how easily the birds could flip that switch between murderous and docile.
Twilight and Legend could only stare at the scattered feathers.
“Isn't there a cliff on the other side of these walls?” Legend asked.
“Yeah... He'll feel that one later,” Twilight said with a wince.
Suddenly, Time returned to the construction project with a half-eaten pastry in his hand. His eye fell on the scattered feathers and the sheer amount of cuccos that were minding their own business in the middle of the field that was usually reserved for the horses. They looked calm but Twilight couldn't trust that they would stay that way, not after what he saw. The two of them watched Time take mental stock of the situation as he chewed on his pastry.
Time cracked his scarred eye open. “You know, in the War of Eras, we once found ourselves on the same side as the cuccos. Somebody reunited a chick with its mother and they proceeded to decimate the battlefield with a feathery army. We didn't even have to do anything. Warriors should know better than anyone else that cuccos can living weapons of mass destruction. I don't know what he did but I know it's his fault, somehow.”
Twilight stared. Time stuffed the rest of his pastry into his mouth and swallowed hard before patting both of them on the shoulders.
“Go fetch Sky so the rest of us can sleep tonight.”
Warriors spent the night outside. The others left a care package at the gate.

My lucky numbers: 1. 3. 13. 31
That's a nice set of numbers lol
01: Do you have a good relationship with your parents?
Woooo let's go lmaoo
I think yes?? I mean, it could be better but I'll have what I have now, I can adjust.
My country is known for strict parents and everything that comes with it lol but i think we got lucky because my mum atleast listens. Though she doesn't agree whenever her beliefs get compromised. Ah well. I love her for what she's done (she's done so much) and I'm thankful for it anyway
I don't think we have a good relationship with my father. But i know he thinks we do - and i let him think that because that's easier than trying to make it better.
03: Do you regret anything?
Yes. I regret not having been more physically active when I was little; I regret not having gone out with friends and enjoying myself (because parents didn't allow lol); I regret not being completely honest with even a single person about my feelings and emotions; damn this is getting serious lemme dilute this, i regret not properly learning to drive the first time around and not having a license oh my gods I'm twenty-
13: Do you hate anyone at the moment?
Hmmm, at the moment? Nope. There's already so much hate everywhere, I'm trying not to turn feral! *throws confetti*
31: Does somebody love you?
Haha I don't know? I think some friends and the fam, yeah, but other than that I have no idea.
We don't usually throw around that word over here *insert T'challa gif here*
Oh wait you said you love me, how silly of me to forget that tsk tsk
Thank you so much for the ask! Ask game here!

Your writing is very lovely and is a joy to read! If you feel like it, could you maybe write some headcanons for some activities or hobbies that the pastas enjoy doing together?
That they enjoy doing together? Hmmm, let me think....
Here's eight examples of what different pasta-duos enjoy doing together....
🍬 LJ & BEN 🎮
LJ likes to test out new jokes on BEN
BEN actually likes watching some of LJ's performances that he puts on (when he's in the right mood for it)
LJ in turn is willing to participate in some of BEN's video games, but he doesn't always understand how to play
He's more content to watch, and be sort of like a "backseat player," if BEN's in the mood for that (because sometimes BEN's happy to just have company while he's gaming, and LJ's good for that because he's easily impressed by BEN's gaming abilities which makes him kind of stroke BEN's gaming ego a bit)
They also enjoy watching baking shows together
🎮 BEN & Jeff 🔪
Um, they're best friends?? They do everything together??
They are obviously gaming buddies
They enjoy watching trashy TV together and ripping it apart
They also like to stay up late having movie marathons
And do general crackhead activities together as well, gotta have that in a best friendship
🔪Jeff & Toby 🪓
Jeff likes to dare Toby to do things, and Toby's happy to be included so he usually does them
Jeff and Toby sometimes wrestle together (sometimes it's fake and sometimes it's not)
Toby likes to tag along with Jeff and either BEN or LJ to get into some trouble together (a real headache for Slender)
🎭 Tim & Toby 🪓
Tim's taken Toby fishing one time (but it's hard for Toby to sit still for a long time, & he ends up scaring the fish... He still likes to be included though)
Tim will sometimes, if he's in a patient mood, attempt to teach Toby how to cook (more often than not, Brian will also be there to help coach Toby as well)
🪓Toby & Brian❓
Brian will sometimes read to Toby, when Toby feels like he can't sit still or focus for that long
Brian and Toby also enjoy taking walks together (and sometimes Tim or maybe even EJ will join in)
Brian also invites Toby to pluck weeds out of the garden with him, and Toby takes his de-weeding job very seriously
❓Brian & Tim 🎭
They, much like BEN and Jeff, are best friends who do everything together (not everything really, but just a lot of stuff)
They both like to fish, to take walks together, to read books and then swap them, and they also just like to sit and each independently do their own thing but while in the company of the other
They are also both a fan of card games
🤍 EJ & Toby 🪓
EJ likes to listen to Toby chatter away a mile a minute... he doesn't mind listening and Toby is grateful to have somebody who likes to listen to his rambling and stuttering
The two spend a lot of "quality time" together with EJ patching up Toby's various cuts and scrapes
🤍 EJ & Brian❓
Brian will often read to EJ
They also like to sit and enjoy each other's company while silently working on something else
Sometimes EJ will ask Brian to describe what things look like

6. “Stay still!”
27. “I still love you.”
Romantic Analogically
-
“Virgil.”
Barely biting back his grin, Virgil nuzzled his cheek into Logan’s chest. “Hm?”
“Please, stay still…” Logan growled, the fingers of his free hand tangling in the dark side’s hair, scratching his scalp gently.
Virgil practically purred, his eyes slipping shut. Cuddling with Logan was wonderful, but he could be such a snooze sometimes. Especially when he so very rudely refused to pay full attention to his dear, darling boyfriend- instead focusing on the boring book he insisted on burying his nose in all hours of the day. Yawn.
He was lucky he was so cute, Virgil thought to himself as he breathed deep the comforting smell of fabric detergent, coffee, and something warm and musky and distinctly Logan. A breathy moan escaped his mouth when he felt the smooth pressure move down his neck, massaging the tightness he always forgot was there until his seemingly magic fingers came along to ease it away. Mm… Cute and good with his hands.
But, in spite of his pretty face and knowledge of how to make Virgil melt into a puddle of goop, he was still horribly stubborn and unwilling to put down his book to give him the love and attention that he deserved. And that just wouldn’t do.
“Logan…”
“Yes?”
“I’m bored.”
Silence. Logan turned his page. “Are you, now?”
“Mm-hm…”
“And what do you suppose I should do about that?” He said, his fingers slowing down to play with the fluffy hair as the nape of his neck.
Virgil grumbled, burying his face into Logan’s abdomen, his voice muffled by the soft flesh. The corners of Logan’s mouth twitched as he made out something along the lines of ‘You suck’.
“Ah, I see.” He nudged his glasses up the bridge of his nose with the hand holding his book, before finally placing it on the coffee table next to them. “Instead of asking me for what it is that you want, you’re going to sulk like a child and force me to guess for myself.”
A rush of heat prickled beneath where Logan’s fingers were still stroking his hair. He was casting a line; offering bait- and really, it would be foolish of Virgil not to take advantage of the opportunity by making the most of Logan’s playful mood. Turning his head to the side so that the grumpy pout on his face was visible, he nodded in silent petulance.
“Of course.” Logan sighed, even though he couldn’t hide the fondness in his voice. “Hmmm, well then...”
Two fingers began to creep up each of Virgil’s sides, tip-toeing slowly and gently from just above his hips, wiggling against the tender dip of his waistline, before settling at his lowest ribs. Virgil had to bite his cheek to stop himself from smiling, already blowing quick puffs of air out of his nose to disguise the laughter he could feel bubbling up.
“Yes, yes, interesting.” He muttered to himself, furrowing his brow pensively as his fingers suddenly scuttled up Virgil’s ribs and dug into his armpits. Virgil squeaked, clamping his arms down and dissolving into surprised giggles. Logan frowned.
“No, this won’t do, let me just…” He held one of Virgil’s elbows, pulling his arm to the side just enough so that his other hand was free to worm its way back underneath. He smirked when Virgil squealed, his chest and stomach swooping as Logan’s fingers chased after him whenever he arched away. “Much better.”
“Nohoho! Lo! Stoppit!”
“Shhhh, Virgil...” Logan chided. “You’ve been disruptive enough as is, you could at least allow me to carry out my research in peace...”
“R-Research? Whahat research?”
He took mercy and let go of his arm, instead moving both hands to settle on his back and drift along the length of his spine with light, sweeping touches that left Virgil breathless as he tried to swallow soft giggles.
“I’m conducting a very important scientific experiment.” Logan whispered, fingers creeping further and further down his back. “But, I’m afraid I’ll have to gather much more data to work with before I draw any conclusions.”
With that, he wrapped his hands around Virgil’s hips and began rapidly squeezing. Virgil gasped, immediately bursting into loud laughter as his hands shot down to try and shove Logan away. Whilst this wasn’t the exact kind of attention he was gunning for, he couldn’t really say that he was mad about it either. Logan liked to pretend he was all cool-headed and stoic, but Virgil knew better. Deep down, he was just as much of a goofball as the others- and if it took bugging him all afternoon to get him to come out and play? He could certainly live with that.
“Nohoho!” He cried when Logan’s thumbs managed to wiggle underneath to get at his stomach. “Not there! Not there!” Virgil slammed himself down to try and trap them, the tingly sensations lighting up his nerve endings like a switchboard.
Undeterred, Logan switched to the same spidery tickles from before, concentrating both hands on the right half of Virgil’s torso and causing him to lurch away, rolling off of Logan and onto his side. Unfortunately for him, that was exactly what he had planned for, and Logan wasted no time wrapping an arm around his chest to hold him still as he slipped his other hand up his t-shirt and clawed at his belly.
Virgil shrieked, falling into a fit of desperate cackles. He could just about handle being tickled anywhere else, but his tummy was his weak spot and Logan knew it (he would have cussed him out for playing dirty, but he was far too busy giggling his head off to speak so coherently). Plus, by this point he was so loopy-giddy from the silliness of it all that he was too weak to do more than just lay there and take it, scrunching up his shoulders when he felt a soft, breathy chuckle against the back of his neck.
“This is terribly unprofessional of you, Virgil.” Logan tutted as he pulled him back onto his lap, continuing to squish and squeeze all over his midriff. “Really- science is no laughing matter...”
“Lohohohogan! Plehehe-!” Virgil hiccuped, his eyes misty with tears. As ruthless as Logan was, even he could tell it was time to wrap things up, and so he began to slow down until he was gently tracing the perimeter of his torso with light, feathery touches.
“I think that’s all that I’ll need for now. Although,” He poked Virgil’s belly button, smirking at the little yelp it produced. “I’ll know where to go if I need to run any more repeats.”
Virgil whined through his last few giggles. “Youhu nerd…” He held onto Logan’s wrists as he wrapped him in his arms. “S-So…” He panted. “What’s your conclusion?”
Logan’s smirk softened. “It’s just as I suspected.” He pressed a gentle kiss to his neck, delighting in the way it made the tips of his ears blush, before resting his chin atop the crown of Virgil’s head. “You are, in fact, one hundred percent adorable.”
Virgil scoffed, hiding his red face in his sleeve-covered hands but not before Logan caught sight of the dopey grin on his face. “I hate you…” He grumbled.
“Oh? It sounds like somebody needs another round before they’re convinced...” Logan teased, cradling him closer and allowing their legs to intertwine. Virgil squeaked, hands coming away from his face to bat at Logan’s as he trapped him in the hug.
“No!” He tittered nervously. “Nohoho, I’m not, I’m not- I still love you, I prohomise…”
Humming thoughtfully, Logan relaxed his grip. “Alright, I’ll leave you be. For now.” He pressed one more tickly kiss against Virgil’s cheek, smiling against the warm skin and letting his eyes slip shut.
Virgil giggled, feeling more than a little smug that he had managed to get what he wanted as he wriggled around so that he was on his front again, snuggling into Logan’s chest with a content sigh.
They lay in comfortable silence, enjoying each other’s calming presence enough that they were on the verge of dozing off, but it wasn’t more than a few minutes later when Virgil’s ears pricked at the sound of something rustling directly above him.
“Logan.” He mumbled, his eyes still closed. “You’d better not be reading that dumb book again.”
There was a brief pause before Logan sighed, clapping his hardback shut and carefully placing it back on the coffee table.
“... It was worth a try.” He muttered sheepishly, settling back down for their long-overdue cuddling session.

Warnings: cursing, death (choking), fighting, anxiety, nightmares
Word count: over 8.0K
Summary: Din has a bounty to catch, leaving you and the child alone on the Crest.
Notes: This chapter almost made me cry writing it so I wish you all luck. I also started writing part nine today and ooof... buckle in folks.
Previous Part ____ Next Part
_____________________________________________
You couldn’t help the bout of laughter that escaped your lips as Din walked up to you.
“Are you ever going to stop laughing about this?”
You doubled over in laughter even more, clutching at your stomach which was beginning to literally hurt from your laughter. “I can’t believe you never told me.” You wheezed as the man stood in front of where you leaned against the wall, placing a hand on his hip.
“It’s not even funny.”
"You know, I feel like you should of told me about it. Like that should of been the first thing out of your mouth when we first met. It would have told me everything I needed to know.”
“The fact that I wear suspenders would have told you everything you needed to know?”
You let out a loud cackle at his statement, causing him to shake his head at you. “Absolutely.”
“I wear it because it’s convenient. I don’t know why it’s funny.”
“Do you think your bounties would be considerably less scared of you if they knew you wore suspenders? Because I think they would.”
“Sweet one...” You smiled as he let out a small sigh, but deep down you knew he was smiling under the helmet.
“You should consider wearing less armor and letting the suspenders show more. The ladies would love it.”
Din cocked his helmet at you, stepping closer to you. “Oh, really?”
“Absolutely. Suspenders are just irresistible.” You let out another giggle, smiling widely as you expect an exasperated sigh from the man of beskar.
But instead he brings his hands up, putting them against the wall on either side of your head, boxing you in. You let out a small gasp, not having expected Din to get so close to you. “Really?”
You tried to hide how flustered you were with a small smile. “Would it break your heart if I said that the suspenders didn’t do anything for me?”
“Probably.” You heard Din let out a chuckle and you laughed back.
“Well then I love them. They are super good looking. One would probably describe them as sexy.”
Din just let out a grunt and shook his head at you. “That didn’t sound convincing.”
“I wonder why.” You teased, ducking under one of his arms, escaping his hold on you. Din turns around, leaning against the wall exactly where you were and crossing his arms.
“I should probably get going.” You let out a groan at his words. You guys had left the planet with the flowers a couple days ago and went straight into hyperspace. Din had explained that he had a bounty to catch. It was an underground job, meaning no one would know it was him and he wasn’t risking Moff Gideon finding out about it. He just had to stop on this planet, catch his bounty, and turn them in for some much needed credits. It wasn’t supposed to be too dangerous but he still insisted on you and the child staying behind in the Crest. He didn’t want to risk anything or anybody seeing the kid, even though the planet you were on was relatively deserted.
“Din, are you sure we can’t go? I’m pretty good with a blaster, y’know?”
“I know, cyar’ika.”
“Then let me go.” You knew you were whining and probably sounded like a child, but you didn’t want him to go. Ever since you joined, you guys haven’t really separated and you didn’t want to be alone.
“This should be a quick one.” Din didn’t even bother to entertain your statement. You had already bothered Din about going and he was being stubborn. There was no way he was going to let you go but you could still complain about it. “Hopefully it will only be a day or two.”
“Two days?”
“You whine a lot.”
You roll your eyes, crossing your arms over you chest. “I just want to go. I don’t want to be alone here.”
“You won’t be. You have the kid.”
You hated how literally Din took things sometimes. You didn’t know if it did it on purpose or if it was just how he was. “I could help.”
Din sighed, shaking his head. “I think I’ve got it covered. I’ve done this before.”
“Yes, but have you ever done it before with me by your side? No. We could probably catch this poor schmuck in less than a day if I tag along.”
“I forgot about all your experience in bounty hunting.”
You knew he was teasing but you still narrowed your eyes at him. “I would probably be great at it.”
“You aren’t a very subtle person.”
You let out a small gasp. “What does that mean?”
Din stepped towards you, putting both hands on your shoulders. “It means, you tend you gather peoples attention. And that isn’t good when hunting.”
“Maybe you can teach me how to do it then. You said this bounty isn’t too difficult so this would be the perfect opportunity.”
“You do know nothing you say will make me bring you along?”
You let out a grunt, pulling away from Din. “Fine. But you’ll regret it when you realize just how much you miss me.”
“Of course, cyar’ika.” Din sarcastically responded and you huffed.
“You are going to be chasing after this stupid bounty and thinking about how much you miss me and my pretty hair and my wonderful humor and-”
“I’m starting to think you are in love with yourself.”
You flash him a devious smile. “I mean, I am pretty great.”
Din shakes his head and pulls his body towards you. “You know what I’ll enjoy most about this?”
You frown, already prepared for a sarcastic response. “What, Din?”
“Some silence.”
You roll your eyes and back away from him, only for him to take a step towards you. “Yeah, right. You love when I talk.”
“You love when I talk.”
Another step backwards for you. And another step forwards for Din. “Hmmm... not really?”
“Sweet one, you already admitted you like the sound of my voice.” You back up one more time and feel yourself bump into the wall behind you, to which Din chuckles. “See? You are clumsy. I can’t bring you.”
You push against Din’s chest with your hands. “You should go before I kick your ass.” You try to hold back the smile but fail to do so.
“Alright.” Din grabs his bag from the floor and strolls towards you. “Keep the door shut and if anything happens, use the radio I gave you. But only for emergencies.”
“Aye aye, captain.”
“If it takes longer than two days, I’ll radio you and let you know I’m fine. If you don’t hear from me and I don’t respond to you, get out of here.”
“Din, I’m not leaving you behind-”
“Please just agree to my terms.”
You nod your head, knowing you’d never actually leave without Din but not wanting to stress him out. “Fine.”
Din brought a hand up to your cheek, grazing it lightly. “Be safe.”
“We will be fine, Din. Like I said, I’m handy with a blaster.” You give him a lopsided grin, wanting to ease his worries.
“Okay. Goodbye, cyar’ika.”
“See you soon.”
Din dropped his hand, opening the hatch to the Crest, and stepping down it. He turned back to look at you, giving you a sharp nod of the head, and you watch him walk off as you close the hatch of the ship.
_____________________
The child was sat in your lap, fully awake to your dismay. He spent the first half of the day whining and crying because his dad was gone. He would look up at you with these big, dopey eyes and his little bottom lip puffed out, looking like somebody had done the meanest thing to him. You’d explain to him that Din was just doing a job and he’d be back soon, but you think the kid either didn’t understand you or didn’t care.
Then once the kid finally got over his pity party, he was absolutely wired. All he wanted to do was play and you swore he was trying to drive you crazy. At one point, you had tripped over something the kid had dropped and he absolutely lost it, thinking it was the greatest thing he had ever seen. In hopes of tiring him out, you had purposely started ‘tripping’ on things, each time warranting the same ecstatic response but not proving to tire him out at all.
So that led to where you were now. In the cockpit of the Crest, with the kid held in your lap, as the two of you looked up at the stars in the sky. You had hoped a calming activity like this would make him sleepy considering how late it was and how he hadn’t taken any naps. But all he was doing was intently staring at the little metal sphere in his hands that he stole from the Crest’s dashboard, completely transfixed by it like it was the most exhilarating thing in the world.
You on the other hand were on the verge of sleep. Your eyes were drooping and you kept yawning. Taking care of the kid was a tiresome task, especially when  you didn’t have Din around to help at all. You were sat in Dins seat, letting yourself fall into it. You missed him, which sounded silly considering he had only been gone for less than twenty-four hours. But you had to fight back the urge to radio him in, just to hear his voice. You had gotten used to his constant company and being in the Crest without him was odd. He was just an overwhelmingly sweet presence for you and without him, it felt a little less safe and a little less warm.
Your dreary eyes drifted down to the child, who was sat in your lap and looked up at you, showing you the ball in his hands. You nodded slowly, your mind seeming to process things about ten times slower than usual. “Very neat, booger.”
The kid looked away from you, seemingly satisfied with you acknowledging his metal ball and looking back down on it. You let out another loud yawn, your eyes slowly drifting closed. You were just going to relax, not sleep. Just rest your eyes for a minute...
Then there was a loud clatter than woke you up. Your body lunged forwards and you looked to see that the kid was still awake, sat in your lap,  with the ball in his hand, but his ears twitching and his vision direction towards the ladder leading down to the hull of the ship. “Anybody there?” You called out.
You picked him up, pulling him close against your chest as you approached the ladder. You peaked down into the hull, your head hanging a little from your position. You looked around. The latch of the door was closed, nothing seemed out of place.  “Hello?”
No other noise was made, no response meaning Din wasn’t back yet to your dismay. You looked over at the kid, who was intently staring into the hull of the ship, his ears still twitching like he was listening for something. “It’s just us kid. This piece of junk ship just makes noises sometimes.” The kid looked up at you briefly before turning back to the hull. “We should get some sleep.”
The kid still seemed totally fine, no hint of fatigue on any of his features. You let out a small sigh. This was going to be a long night. You carefully stepped down the ladder, making your way towards your cot when you heard another noise. You whipped your head around, identifying that it came from the refresher. You put the kid down on your cot quickly and lifted up a finger to your lips, hoping that the kid would understand and be quiet. He simply looked up at you and you turned around, your right hand resting on the blaster kept on your side. You made your way towards the refresher, hoping it was just Din who saw you asleep and didn’t want to wake you up to let you know he was back. But deep down, you knew it wasn’t Din. And he had told you this planet didn’t have a big population and you were far from any towns where there would be people. Meaning if there was someone in the ship, it was probably either Din or his bounty.
You stopped walking, considering your options. You had your radio, maybe you could call Din in. But if there was someone there, they’d probably hear you do it and then what would you do? And what if Din was far away and couldn’t get back quickly enough?
Or what if this wasn’t his bounty and something else entirely? Din didn’t have a tracking fob this time, just a location. You knew Din was good at his job and if his bounty was here, he should be here. So if he isn’t, maybe there was someone else in here.
You turned back to look up at the kid, to check if he was still in the spot where you left him, only to find he wasn’t. “Shit.” You whispered under your breath. You looked all around but couldn’t find the kid. Sometimes he liked to hide from you, thinking it was great when you found him, but right now was not the time for hide and seek. “Kid, where are you?”
You turned around completely, back facing the door to the refresher as you ducked to see if he was below your bed. No luck. You let out a sigh. You couldn’t do anything without knowing where the kid was. That was too risky. “Womp rat, where did you go?”
All the air left your lungs as you felt a huge slam into your back, bringing you down onto the floor. You landed face down, your whole body pulsing from the pain. Your body throbbed from the impact and your hands just barely reached out to stop you from slamming your skull into the metal floor of the ship. You quickly pulled yourself up and turned to see a Klatooinian staring back down at you. His face bunched up into a growl and he snarled at you, glaring at you with a fierceness in his eyes. “What the kriff?” You yelled out.
The creature held a blaster right at your face, not bothering to say anything, and let out deep breathes, his chest heaving. You quickly popped back up on your feet, trying to knock the blaster out of his hand. But instead the man fired a shot, hitting the floor of the ship as you jerked out of the way. Your head turned quickly, just to make sure the kid wasn’t anywhere near the blast. You were satisfied when you found no kid, but also worried as to where he could be. You didn’t want him getting caught in the cross fire. And you certainly didn’t want this creature finding him. You needed to get rid of him, before he hurt the kid or you.
Your hand reached for the blaster on your side, just starting to curl around the smooth metal of it, when you heard a small noise emit from behind the Klatooinian. The man and you both turn to look in the same direction, your vision landing on the child who stood in the corner of the room with the ball in his hand. His face was crumpled up into a little frown, clearly not too pleased by the presence of the man before him, but he didn’t do anything except just stand there. “Shit.”
Your fingers just started to pull on your blaster, not even able to pull it out completely, before the man turned back to you, snarling again and rising a leg to kick one of your knees, your leg buckling in on yourself and dropping you against the floor. You let out a yelp from the pain, your right hand still itching towards your blaster, but your other hand landing on the floor beside you, trying to steady yourself. He spat into your face and a thick glob landed on your cheek that you wiped away with a growl. He turned back around towards the kid, stomping closer to him with the blaster aimed at his little body. “You son of a bitch!” you yelled out, trying to distract him, just do anything so he wouldn’t harm the kid and the kid could scurry away. He turned to look back at you, letting out a harsh laugh.
There was no way you were going to let this man hurt the child. Din trusted you to protect him, so you were going to do it. You rise to your feet again, your landing a little sloppy due to your knee, and you go to reach for the blaster when you feel a tingling sensation through your whole body. The fatigue and pain fades away, and for a second you think it’s just a rush of adrenaline from the situation until you realize you’ve felt this feeling before. It’s been a very long time, but it is strong and it is undeniable.
You feel an energy fill every part of your body. It seems to fill your pores, soak into your bones, and lift you up. It penetrated every part of your being and you feel more powerful than you had in a very long time. You haven’t felt the Force flow within you for many years, but the feeling is just as intoxicating as it was before and it seems to clear all your senses. Your right hand eases away from the blaster on your side and instead you bring it up, your body seeming to work on its own without a second thought. You watch as the Klatooinian stumbles back slightly before you curl your fingers a little. One of his dirty hands reaches for his throat, trying to tear something away from it, as the blaster in his order hand drops to the ground. You squeeze your hands together a little tighter to which the creature let’s out a ragged gasp, his other hand reaching up as well as shock paints his face. You don’t even fully realize what is happening, just letting your powers take hold of you. The man begins to lift a little from where he stood in the hull, his feet dangling slightly in the air as he continues to gasp and take in shallow breaths that are beginning to fade.
Your hands tighten up even more and you watch as his face begins to turn into a shade of blue, his eyes bulging from the pressure as you continue. It seems like only mere seconds until he let’s out one more choked breath before falling limp. And like you had been on the verge of choking as well, you let out a loud gasp as you drop your hand, and the creatures body falls to the floor right in front of the child and you. You feel like time finally resumes to normal after it was going at warp speed. You had felt like time was just flashing in your face and you weren’t even able to realize what was happening until it was too late. You look at the body on the ground before you and you let out a choked sob, crumbling to the floor. The fatigue from earlier settles back into your body, but now tenfold from the energy you just exhausted. You let out a whimper as the child begins to waddle towards you, walking around the body.
What had you done? You hadn’t used the Force in years because the last time you had, it had resulted in a dead body as well. You swore to never use it again, in fear you’d use what was supposed to be this precious gift to harm somebody. You hadn’t felt that feeling in so long and the first time you had after all these years, you had used it to kill. You can’t stop the tears falling down your face or the way you let in small, panicked breathes. The child finally makes his way over to you and goes to hand you his small metal sphere, something to comfort you. You let out a small noise as you look down at him. He looked up at you with complete trust in his eyes and you wonder if he understood what you did, if he had felt the Force like you had. If he understand the harm you had caused with it.
A pop of static pops through and it takes you a second to register that it is the radio Din had given you earlier. “Cyar’ika, you there?”
You are barely able to turn, but you look back at your cot and the radio you had tossed on it earlier in the day. You reach a shaky hand out, your fingers, the same ones you had squeezed the life out of the man just minutes earlier, wrapping around the device. You turn it on, trying to control your breathing as you let out a small, “Yeah.”
You hear him panting and you can tell he is running. “The bounty is heading towards you guys right now, I think. Lock everything down and get your blaster. I’ll be there in a minute.”
You feel a tear roll down your cheek. “Din, he already came here.” You drop the radio, ignoring as Din continues calling through, repeating your name. The kid tries to climb in your lap and you limpy lay a hand on his little body, your gaze never moving away from the body.

“Cyar’ika, what happened?”
You looked up to see Din standing in the hull of the Crest, standing in front of the body and looking back and forth between it and yourself. His chest was heaving and small pants made their way through his modulator. He had ran the whole way here, worried sick after you had spoken with him. Your hands were still shaking so badly and your whole body felt fatigued. If you weren’t so wired from the anxiety, you would probably have passed out by now. You slowly brought a trembling hand up to wipe away at your tears, a fruitless effort because more just ran down your cheeks. The child shuffled off your lap, starting to waddle towards Din with his arms reached out for a hug. You sniffled, looking at Din and the child and the ship. Anywhere but at the creature laid out on the ground before you.
“H-he came here.”
Din let out a loud sigh. “I shouldn’t have left you alone.”
You got annoyed at yourself for the frustration you felt at what he said. Din didn’t know about your powers. Hell, you didn’t even know you still had this in you. He also didn’t know the bounty would get to you before he caught him. It wasn’t his fault. But you had pleaded with him to take you and if he had, you wouldn’t be in this mess. The worst thing that would of happened was the Crest would of been robbed. There wouldn’t be a body in front of you. One you had killed in such a grotesque way. You wouldn’t feel this self hatred seeping into you.
But instead of yelling at Din, you just pulled your legs up against you, wanting to block yourself from this moment. You choked back some sobs rather pathetically, small whimpers still drifting from your lips along with sniffling. “I d-did it. He had the blaster aimed at the k-kid.”
“It’s okay. You did what you had to do.”
Yeah, you did what you had to do. But you didn’t have to do it like that. You remembered the first time you had used the Force to kill someone. You watched the life drain from that Imperial officers face as he tried to block you from your parents. The pit in your stomach was so heavy, it felt like it was weighing you down. Your grandmother had taught you how people used the Force to harm and kill, and how the power that came with it drove people to the dark side, to madness. You remembered her telling you how she had never used the Force to kill and making you vow the same. And you had broken that vow, multiple times now.
This wasn’t supposed to be you. The Force, and the power it gave you, was supposed to be pure and good. Used to heal and connect. Used to help you and aid you, not coldly strike down your enemies like they were nothing. Because if you did that, how were you any different from them? And how far would you go? What if one day you couldn’t control it and accidentally hurt Din or the child?
That thought forced a sob out of you and you let yourself fall apart. You buried your face in your legs, not wanting Din to see you like this.
“Kriff, what happened?” You heard Din step towards you and bend down at the knees, resting a hand on your back. “Sweet one, talk to me.”
You looked up at him, seeing your reflection in his helmet and wincing. You looked away from him.
“I choked him.” You left out how, just letting him assume you had done so with your hands. You watched his helmet turn to the body before it drifted to the blaster still attached to your hip. You knew what he was thinking. Why wouldn’t you had just used the blaster? “I had to.”
That was a lie. But Din didn’t need to know that. Din couldn’t know that. “Okay... that’s fine.” Din brought his hand up to the helmet to rub at it, like one would do with their temple when having a bad headache. “This is okay. You should go shower and calm down. I’ll take care of... this.”
You felt even guiltier. Now Din had to deal with your mess and you didn’t even know if he was supposed to bring the man in alive or not. What if you had messed up his bounty? “I’m sorry.”
Din shook his head. “Don’t apologize. You protected the kid. I’m proud of you.”
You tried your best not to cry at his answer. Din shouldn’t be proud of you. What you had done was not honorable. Not something to take pride in. Instead you wiped at your face, nodding. “Okay.”
Din stood up, holding his hands out for you. You grabbed onto them and he helped you rise up from your place on the floor. You fell into Din, feeling extremely weak and like your legs were numb, your knee still throbbing from earlier. You let out a reassurance that you were okay to Din, feeling his concern washing over you, and forced yourself to let go of him. You trudged away to the refresher without another word, wanting to wash away what had happened, even though you knew it would haunt you.
_____________________
When you finally walked back into the hull of the ship, you were shocked by how spotless it was. Din had cleaned up anything that had been tossed about during the attack. The kid was in his hover pram, asleep and letting out little snores. Din was sat on the floor, now in what appeared to be his pajamas, the only piece of metal on his body being his helmet. Most notably, the body was gone, now frozen in carbonite instead of laid out on the floor. You were glad to not see it but it still didn’t settle the uneasiness you felt.
“Hey, sweet one.” You closed your eyes at Din’s words, letting them soak into you. You needed Din right now, as much as you shouldn’t. He was like a life preserver while you are drowning. You weren’t sure if you deserve it, but you were going to cling to it.
“Hey.” You whisper out and Din rises from the floor, walking over to where you stood. He didn’t say anything, just pulling you into his arms as he embraced you. You knew Din wasn’t used to affection like this, perhaps never having gone out of his way to hug someone before you, and you were so grateful he was willing to do it for you. You allowed yourself to be swallowed by his large frame, your arms wrapping around his lower back. You rested your head on his shoulder, your wet hair probably getting his shirt soaked but he didn’t seem to care.
You finally pulled away and Din’s helmet looked down on you. “You look exhausted.”
You were exhausted. Absolutely drained in every way: physically, mentally, spiritually. Using the Force earlier had emptied you of all the strength you had, and the emotional turmoil after that had just piled on top of it. But you also didn’t want to sleep. You didn’t want to lay on your cot on the floor alone, where you could replay what had happened time and time again. Where you could drift into a sleep that would remind you of the horrors of your past or of today. Sleep already didn’t come too easy to an individual like yourself and todays events would make it even harder. “I’m okay.”
“It’s late. You should sleep.” Din gestured over to where he usually slept. “You take my bed tonight.”
“No. I’m fine.” You honestly didn’t plan on sleeping. You would probably trudge your way up to the cockpit and just stare out the window, thinking and dwelling on your mistakes. On the person you had become.
“You need to rest. I will sleep on your bed.”
“Din, I barely fit on that cot. You won’t fit. And you’ve been up all day. You need proper rest.”
Din shook his head. “You had a rough day today. I’ll be fine.”
You let out a sigh. “I won’t be able to sleep tonight. Not after... not after today.”
“What if I make you some tea? You can relax and you’ll eventually drift off.”
While the idea of Din making you tea absolutely melted your heart, you shook your head. “Tea won’t help.”
“What will?”
The only thing that helped was standing right in front of you. “You.”
Din nodded and one of his hands reached out for yours, grabbing it. “Come on.”
“What-”
“Shh. I got you, sweet one.” Din walked around, turning off all the lights on the Crest besides the small one right above his bed. Dins grip was strong, reassuring, and he let you drift with him towards the bed. You wanted to argue but your body was so tired and so was your brain, and Din was so strong right now. “Lay down.”
You nodded hesitantly, crawling into his cot and laying back into it. It wasn’t comfortable per say, but it seemed heavenly compared to the cot you usually slept on. It also smelled like cinnamon and something like bark. It was Din: alluring and inviting and primal. You let out a hum, letting the padding of the mattress envelope your frame. You then felt some shifting and lifted your head slightly to see Din crawling in besides you. “Din, what-”
“Scoot over a little, cyar’ika.” You shuffled, almost pressing against the wall. Din’s cot was very small, making it so you couldn’t help but to feel him press up against you as he settled down next to you. “I’m going to turn out the lights and then take my helmet off, okay?”
You let out a hum, looking forward to hearing Dins voice. The light went out and you couldn’t see anything, not even your hand in front of your own face. It was completely pitch dark, nothing to see. But even when you heard the click and hiss of the helmet being removed, you still closed your eyes, just in case. You felt Din shuffle around some more, clearly trying to give you enough space. But with the tight quarters, you could still feel his legs nudge against yours and his shoulder touch your back a little. Part of you wanted to lean into him but you didn’t want to invade his personal space more than you already were. “Are you okay with this?
You smile as you hear his voice, feeling so incredibly grateful that you were privy to it. That Din trusted you enough to let you in and take his helmet off around you. You were sure it wasn’t an easy feat. You nodded, but realized he probably couldn’t see you, so you let out a small, “Yes.”
You lay there in silence for a little while until you shift to your other side, no longer facing the wall. You come to the realization that you are probably facing Din, not being able to see a thing but knowing his face was so close to yours. You could probably reach out and touch it, feel the angles and curves of it. “Sweet one?”
“Yeah?”
“You know you never have to hide anything from me. Right?”
The question alone makes your heart break, and the inflection in his tone adds to it. It is heavy and curious. You know Din is an exceptionally smart man, more intelligent than most people would realize. And you also knew that he knew you very well, more than anybody else. Of course Din would notice how bizarre your reaction to todays events had been. He knew that wasn’t your first kill and knew that you were always willing to do what you had to do, especially if that meant protecting someone you loved. His curiosity was only natural. But you also knew you couldn’t tell him and that hurt him. He’d wonder why you couldn’t trust him with something but he also didn’t know how substantial the secret you were keeping from his was. You just whisper out, “Of course.” and feel like you wanna crawl in on yourself. Din trusted you with so much but you couldn’t tell him this. And that broke you.
“Okay.” You know he doesn’t believe you, that he knows you are keeping something from him. But he doesn’t push you, which you are thankful for.
“You know you mean everything to me, right?” His voice is so soft, his words melting in your ears, and you feel your heart clench. You knew deep down, in every way, you were in love with Din Djarin. It wasn’t a matter of maybe or one day you could be. You were head over heels for the man and everyday your affection for him grew stronger and stronger. And he meant everything to you. You’d do anything for him - even if it meant making tough decisions.
You didn’t trust yourself to not say anything stupid, so you simply scooted closer to him. Din slowly reached an arm out to you, bringing you in closer to him. You felt your body press against his and felt so secure. Even though he didn’t have the armor on, you felt safer in his arms than anywhere else. Your head rested against his shoulder and you closed your eyes. “Thank you, Din.”
You felt his chest rumble with a little hum and placed your hand on it, over his heart. You felt his chest rise and fall, giving you peace. You then drifted off, falling asleep in the arms of the man you loved for the first time.
And the last.

Din was back in the field of flowers, sitting on top of a blanket with the warm sun shining on his face. He took a deep breath in, inhaling the scent of all the flowers. He could hear children’s giggling somewhere from behind him, knowing they were playing. He reached his hand up, realizing his helmet wasn’t on. He wasn’t actually in any armor: just a pair of pants and a plain shirt, no shoes, and his hair wildly tossed about on his head. The thought of not wearing his helmet, or his armor for that matter, usually terrified him but he felt as ease, knowing he was completely safe.
“Din, the child is trying to teach our son to eat butterflies.” He whipped his head around, watching as she approached his spot on the blanket, sitting down next to him. She has a bright smile on her face and wore a white dress that was flowing in the breeze. A few flowers were stuck in her hair which was pulled into a beautifully braided bun. Din’s eyes followed down to her hands to see a ring on her finger. He looked at his hand to find a matching one, made of the same metal: beskar.
“W-what?” Din mumbled out, seeming shocked by the sound of his own voice. He felt at peace but he was also confused. This wasn’t his life. But maybe he could pretend it was for a little bit.
She reached her hand out to brush back some of Din’s hair, her fingers brushing past his cheek as she brought it back down. He swore he almost fainted at the feeling of her touching his face. It was so soft and loving. A feeling he could never get sick of. “Isn’t this nice?”
Din nodded, feeling a smile grace his features as he kept looking at his cyar’ika, not wanting to tear his eyes away. “Yes.”
She let out a small chuckle and Din reached his hands out. He cupped her face but froze when the smile on her face dropped, her features melting into sadness. “Sweet one, what’s wrong?”
Tears surged at her eyes and Din felt something begin to crumble. That’s when he realized she was literally crumbling away before him, her body falling apart. “Too bad you couldn’t save us either.”
“No. No, no. I can. I know I can.”
“It’s too late.”
Din felt a sob crawl up his throat as she disappeared right before him, turning into nothing but a pile. He turned to look behind him, to where he heard the children laughing, but realized he was no longer in the field of flowers, but in Aq Vetina. Everything was being destroyed in front of him. “No. Please. I can protect them.” He didn’t know exactly who he was pleading to but he felt every bone in his body fill with dread. Din had only ever felt this kind of fear once before, when he had lost his parents in this very place.
“Din, you took your helmet off.” He turned around, to see The Armorer from Navarro. She stood, towering above him, her golden armor seeming to be the only color anymore. She shook her head disapprovingly, and Din felt like a child in The Watch again, being degraded for something he had done wrong.
“I need to save her.” He begged, looking to where his riddur was and finding absolutely nothing. He let out a choked sob as he looked back up at the Armorer. He needed her help. More than anything. He didn’t know what to do without his sweet one. And his child.  “And the kid. I can protect them.”
“You broke your creed.”
“I did it for her.” Din knew he’d do anything for her, even if it meant losing himself.
“And now you lost her. Just like your family.”
Din felt tears fall down his cheeks when he heard a loud bang behind him and the ground shake. He turned to see the droid, the one that had tried to kill him when he was young and locked away in that hatch before his parents died. But this time, Din knew there was no Mandalorian coming to save him. And just like everything around him, he was going to be destroyed.
_____________________
Din let out a small gasp as he jerked awake. He heard a small sigh next to him and suddenly realized where he was. He was on the Crest, in his bed with her. She was asleep next to him, her head resting on his shoulder and hand placed on his chest. Din let out a sigh of relief when he realized that she was safe. It had only been a horrible dream. Nothing more.
Her body against him was warm, the blanket strewn lazily across their legs. His bed wasn’t very large which made it so they were in very close proximity. He couldn’t see much in the dark, more accustomed to it than she was but still feeling partially blind. He knew she couldn’t see a thing with the door to his cot closed, making it pitch black. Part of Din wished he could have just the smallest bit of light so he could look on her, but that was too risky when he didn’t have his helmet on. He could feel her anyways, and that was good enough. The feeling of her chest rising and falling with each breath she took was a reminder she was alive and there, with him. And with his arm around her, he knew she was safe, even if it was only for this moment.
But then he remembered earlier. He shouldn’t have left her alone. He should of given in to her nagging and let her come with him. At least he would of been able to keep an eye out for the kid and her. Keep them safer than he had. The first time Din left them and somebody attacked her. The very bounty he was meant to catch had found her and she had to deal with the repercussions of that.
Din felt horribly for the way she felt. The guilt seemed like a blanket weighing down on her and Din had to admit he was slightly shocked by her reaction. He had trusted her to stay alone because he knew how strong she was and that she could take care of what she had to. Din had seen her before, knew she wasn’t afraid to do what it takes to protect herself and the kid. The first day they had met she had killed in order to help the kid and him and it didn’t seem like she was phased at all by it.
But today was different. He could tell that killing that Klantooinian had done something to her. But Din couldn’t tell why. It wasn’t just her being shaken up. And Din didn’t even think she felt guilty per say, like she shouldn’t have killed him. He was a danger to the kid and she was a fierce protector, much like Din. So what had bothered her so much about it?
Din thought maybe it was the way she killed him, having to do it with her hands instead of the blaster. But even the manner of death confused him. Ever since they had been attacked weeks and weeks ago, she had always kept a blaster on her side, attached to her hip like it was just a part of her. She slept with one under her pillow, kept one in the refresher even, just in case. And when Din walked into the Crest, the blaster had still been on her hip. It hadn’t been lost or used against her. She could of used it instead of choking him. It would of been easier and considerably less strenuous.
But even if she was in a situation where she couldn’t use it, Din didn’t know if he believed she had choked him. The creatures neck had no markings. If she had choked him enough to kill him, it would of required a lot of pressure. Enough to bruise him and leave a fresh mark of finger prints against his skin. But there was none of that. His neck was a little red, but not enough to indicate that anything substantial had happened. Choking a man like that also would of required a lot of strength. And while she was strong, he didn’t know how she would of had the ability to overpower him and keep him down long enough to get the job done.
So Din was left contemplating what else may of happened. He considered that maybe the child had used his abilities. He had seen the kid try to choke Cara that one time. But the kid looked like he was going to pass out before he could finish the job. And if the kid did do it, it made no sense that she wouldn’t tell him about it. She knew about the kids powers and knew that Din was aware of them. She would of been shocked by them, but she wouldn’t have lied to Din, not told him about what the kid had done. And when Din had come back, the child was wide awake, bustling with energy. It didn’t seem like he had exerted any energy and every time the kid used his powers, it took a lot out of him. The kid hadn’t looked like he had lifted a finger.
Which meant it was her. But, how did she do it? Din had looked over the body and there was nothing. No blaster marks, no stab wounds. No bleeding or bruising. No marks. Nothing. As far as Din could tell, the guy had just dropped dead. But that was impossible. Something had to have been done. Something she did. But Din couldn’t think of what it was.
But, the thing that was driving him crazy the most was that she wouldn’t tell him. He knew that she trusted him on some level or another. But perhaps he had overestimated how much she had. Maybe a woman like her would never trust a person completely. And Din couldn’t blame her for that. But it also hurt because Din trusted her with ever fiber of his being. So why couldn’t she tell him? What was she keeping from him?
Din shook his head, trying to rid himself of these thoughts. It would do him no good to dwell on it. It would only drive him nuts. Maybe one day he would ask her about it or maybe one day she would trust him enough to tell him. Din could wait for that day. For now, Din was just going to thank the galaxy that she was okay. Din pulled her in a little closer, hearing her let out a little noise but not waking her. He nervously placed a small kiss on her head and closed his eyes. And he whispered one thing, one thing he didn’t know if he’d ever have the strength to tell her while she was awake.
“I love you, cyar’ika.”
_____________________
Din was in the shower and had just turned on the water, which meant if you were going to do this, you had to do it now.
You haphazardly threw all your important belongings in your bag. Din had mentioned his bounty had a small ship of some kind and it wasn’t too far from the Crest, perhaps only a few hundred feet. It would be hard but if you ran fast, you might be able to make it before Din realized what was happening. You had told him to take a nice, long relaxing shower and he had said once he was done, he had to go into hyperspace to turn in his bounty on some planet.
You heard a little squeak behind you and paused. You turned to look over at the child, who was sitting upright in his hover pram and staring straight at you. You swore that the child knew what you were planning, his face turned into a contemplative frown, his eyes looking at you with confusion. He reached a hand towards you and you turned away, knowing you couldn’t look at him more. It only made what you had to do harder.
You had to leave. For so many reasons.
You couldn’t help with the kid in the way you needed to. In the way Din didn’t even know you needed to. You were a Jedi, but a weak one. One who didn’t even want or really know how to use her powers anymore. Only using them for violence. You couldn’t trust yourself with your ability. You would never harm a hair on the child or on Din, but you feared so badly you would lose control like other Jedis had done before. That you would hurt the very things you loved most. And that wasn’t a risk you were willing to take.
You also knew how close Din was to you. How much he trusted you and the risks he was willing to take for you. And you weren’t worthy of that. And Din deserved someone better. Someone who didn’t have so much baggage and someone who didn’t need for him to constantly be there. He should be showing his kindness and compassion to someone who deserved it. And the longer you stayed, the longer you’d be dragging Din further into your mess. He would open up more and more, only to be hurt. Because you knew you couldn’t keep this secret forever. And this secret would hurt him.
You considered yourself a strong woman, even from a young age. Your family taught you to be resilient. Your grandmother taught you to not take shit from anyone, to be a force to be reckoned with. Your mother taught you to be kind but to also protect yourself. Your father taught you to be a hard worker and an honest person. You were usually able to protect yourself from others and make the right decisions. And a moment like this required you to be strong against your own emotions and feelings. You loved Din. You loved the child. You wanted nothing more than to stay with him and be with him. To protect and cherish the little family you had been given. But, you needed to make the right decision. You had to protect Din and the kid from yourself. There was a reason you were alone for so long on Yungbrii. Because everyone you loved got hurt. And nothing had led you to believe that the same thing wouldn’t happen to Din and the kid, whether it was by your hands or someone elses.
You slung your bag around your shoulders. It was heavy, but you tried to take only the necessities. You avoided the child’s gaze as you turned. “I’m sorry, kid. I really love you. And your dad. But I need to go.”
You felt tears prick at your eyes as you reach one hand up to the necklace around your neck. You pull it over your head, looking down at the sigil. You turn it over, reading the engraving on the back one final time. Your eyes close and you take in a deep breath. Your feet stumble over to go to Din’s cot, turning off the light and laying the necklace on his pillow, the very one you both had rested your heads on last night. You close the door, hoping that maybe Din would just think you were sleeping a little more. You turn towards the hatch of the Crest, taking a step forward when you hear the child let out another small noise. But this time you don’t turn around. You just open the door of the Crest.
And run.

Lazy Day- Din Djarin x Reader
Tumblr media
Once again, @jedi-jesi has made another amazingly wonderful moodboard. I literally love that girl with all my heart!!!
A/n: Hello everyone and welcome to the first chapter of Days Filled with Love!!! I hope you guys enjoy this series as much as I do, because I really have a blast writing it!!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scruff tickles your collarbones as kisses are placed along your neck. Both of your legs are trapped under his own, entangled as tight as your souls are. One of your hands trails up his strong back, feeling the muscles pulse and ripple underneath your touch. Finally, it’s path ends with threading fingers through his curls. Tugging lightly you pull him from your neck.
“Well good morning, handsome.”
He smiles down at you; but not just any smile, a smile that conveys so much love and adoration. It’s dreamy and blissful, making you fall in love with him more. Your hand unweaves from his hair and cups his cheek, using your thumb to rub over his cheek.
Closing his eyes he leans into your touch. “Hmmm, morning cyare.” Wrapping both your arms around his neck you pull him to your lips. He growls and the vibrations run over your lips. Giggling you bite his bottom lip.
He pulls away from you, eyes hazy and dark. His hands already tracing the curve to your hips, sparks erupting after. But before he can continue with his unspoken promise, the door to your sleeping compartment flies open.
Based solely on adrenaline and his hard past, he moves to protect you, placing his entire body over yours, preparing for the worst.
“Daddy! Mommy!” Your son scrambles up onto the bed. So after, your daughter, with the child, run in after him. However, she is new to the whole walking idea, so she stumbles a little along the way.
Your husband relaxes and scoops all three of his kids into his arms. “What are you little womp rats doing up so early?” The child squeals and squirms, your son and daughter nearly choke with laughter. You can't help but to laugh yourself.
“Can we snuggle?” Your daughter wiggles out of her fathers arms. Stumbling she climbs over your entangled limbs, practically throwing herself onto your chest.
“Mommy, save me!” Your son whines out.
Din is overjoyed, cheeks starting to hurt with how much he is smiling. If someone had told him seven years ago he would have a family of five he would have scoffed and probably killed them. Yet, here he is, hopelessly in love.
Swatting your husband's arms you grab both your sons. Now all three children are hiding in your embrace.
“Tummy time!” Your daughter yells, moving your sleep shirt up your body. She lifts her shirt and places your tummies together. Closing her eyes, she tries to drift off into sleep again. The child giggles and reaches for you. Smiling, you pick him up and place him against your chest. Your first born son cringes but still stays in your embrace.
“Tummy time is for sissies.”
“Hey, watch your language young man.” Din scolds him. “Guess I’ll have to take your place.” Grabbing him and placing him between the wall and your entangled legs. Din, already shirtless, presses his stomach up against your side.
Your son looks away, trying to seem unbothered. A twinkle of amusement flies through your Mandalorians' eyes. Making a show of pressing himself further against your body, he sighs, overly dramatic. “Hmmm, nothing is better than tummy time with mommy.”
Silently giggling, you try not to wake your two sleeping children. Din’s hands rub over your daughters back, in a soothing rhythm. You can see the way your son longly looks at the gesture.
Slowly shifting your daughter more to the side, you make a space perfect for his body. “My, I wish I had somebody to come warm me. Mommy is cold.”
Your son's facade cracks and he looks at you. Suddenly he lifts his shirt and squeezes himself in between Dins side and his sister. “I’ll warm you, Mommy.”
“Mmmm so nice and toasty.” You bring a hand to the back of his head, brushing the curls which perfectly match his fathers. If you hadn’t birthed him, you would have sworn Din did everything in making him. He is a full carbon copy of your beloved husband.
Looking down, all three children are asleep on you now. Smiling, you lock eyes with your husband.
“Thank you cyar’ika.” His voice is hushed and soft.
“For what? I haven’t even got out of bed yet.”
“For giving me a family. For loving all four of us unconditionally.”
“Hmm. I wouldn't have it any other way handsome.”
He smiles, eyes swirling with emotion. The air around all of you floods with love and tranquility.
Blowing him a kiss, you close your eyes. Settling back into a doze.
***
You watch as the kids run around, playing some game they created two minutes ago. Two hands make their way along your hips, pulling you against a firm body.
Turning around in his arms you press your head against his helmet. Running your hands over his shoulders, pressing in between the hard beskar.
“What is it you have to ask me?”
His hands stop where they were rubbing circles on your hips. “What makes you think I have something to ask you?”
Giggling you pat his cheek. “You seem to have forgotten I have known you for seven years now. You never rub circles, unless you have something to ask or you’re anxious.”
He sighs, knowing there is no way that he could get away now.
“What is it? I hope you haven't also forgotten that I will never judge you. Tell me baby.”
His hands trail up your body, turning you back around to face your children. “I think they look lonely.”
You tilt your head, confused and unsure of where he is going with this.
“I think we should have another one.” His hands move to your stomach, rubbing all over. “I miss seeing you all round with my child. It’s been too long.”
Scoffing you turn back to him, poking his chest. “Let’s see you carry one of your abnormally large babies for nine months.”
He chuckles before pulling you even closer. “Hmm that would be a sight wouldn't it? But you do it so well. I wouldn't even look half as beautiful as you.”
You bite the inside of your cheek, trying to suppress a smile. “Hmm, I guess they do need one more person to play with them.”
Under his helmet, he is grinning from ear to ear. He picks you up and twirls you around. “Yes? Please say yes, cyar’ika!”
Fully laughing now, you cup his helmet. “How could I be so cruel to deny you?” Lifting his helmet just enough to reveal his wide grin, you place a kiss to it. “Alright baby.”
He sets you down, before running off to your children. “Who wants to go stay with Auntie Peli for a weekend?”
All three of them make sounds of approval, running into the ship to grab whatever they would need.
“Din! We can't just drop them off.”
“Watch me.”
You throw him an unimpressed look.
“Oh come on, she loves them. Plus, I have a job to do.”
“Maker, you’re insufferable.”
He picks you up and carries you into the ship. “Yeah, but you love it.”
Shaking your head you can't help but feel your heart swell with love.
“I do love you.”
Ignis et fulguris.
She still remembers how big his hand felt clutched about the back of her neck like a vice, dark fingers applying just enough pressure to her carotid arteries to make her head feel light and flimsy. But she was still alert and keenly aware of the mess she'd made. The trouble she was in. The looming threat of oblivion creeping in out of the corners of her vision, an abrubt and unceremonious end to a short and miserable story. Only appropriate, Eluthéria supposed—that she would find her end in the clutches of the man she was born to live and die for.
Commander Adam hoisted her Petite frame off of the shiftless cadaver upon which the dimunative soldier had perched like a peckish kerstrel. She heard him click his tongue through the thumping heartbeat in her ears, but she couldn't see him. He made sure to angle her head far away from his person, tapered talons digging deep trenches into the base of her skull. She struggled to find her footing. Skinny arms rose to cross themselves over her naked chest—the motion exacerbated the cat-o-nine-tail's latest object of vicious art stretching astride her pale back. A fresh, abstract portrait in the museum of suffering that is her frangible body.
"Drop it."
She'd only ever heard his voice booming from the Carmine pride skies on the eve of new years, the thunder which heralds the great annual slaughter of the wicked and damned. It didn't sound half as imposing inside this cramped stone chamber, but she would not make him tell her twice. Wouldn't dare—not inclined to make her suicide any more torturous than it needed to be. Spindly fingers uncurled from about the circumference of the spear-head she'd illicitly nabbed from the arms depot. Blessed. Deadly.
It clattered to the ground at her feet. The pool of ichor dampening the sound of metal meeting with stone but she flinched anyway. That made him laugh. It's was soft but pointedly derisive sound.
"Woof! Feisty little thing. A bit on the scrawny side. Are they skimping on your rations? For shame. C'mere. Let me look at you."
With that, his big hand slid Up along the meager curve of her neck, his fingers, thick and coarse, bunched her ratty bird's nest up into the hollow of his palm, which promptly balled into a tight fist, flush against her scalp. Adam turned her head on the axis of her spine so that she would face him, vis-á-vis, his gilded lightning against her ruby flames.
She remembers thinking that he had beautiful eyes. An odd thought to dedicate to somebody so vicious, maybe, but she always had a way with finding beauty in the macabre.
Those eyes roved her tremulous form, clad only in a threadbare pair of boxer type shorts.
She'd never felt so naked. Not because his gaze was overtly lascivious in nature but because it pierced and bored through her, like he was looking right into the core of her being. For a moment she wondered if he might be able to read her mind, but she banished the notion quickly. If he could see the playback of the events which had transpired inside this chamber, now tomb, he would not be so soft. This was his subordinate, after all, a trusted comerade in arms, and she had not been kind in her ministrations. She made him suffer, the same way he had made her suffer.
And she enjoyed every second of it.
If the commander had not barged in, she would've liked to spend more time with his body, looking at his insides, picking them apart, watching as every sign that this thing had ever been alive slowly evaporates, and chiseling it all into the deepest niches of her mind so that these precious moments might continue to bring her joy for the rest of her life—however short it might be.
But when does she ever get the things that she wants?
"You know, ordinarily, this type'a stunt might have left me a touch, hmmm, irked. But hell, i gotta tip my proverbial hat to you, pretty bird. Impressive work! Really! The cards weren't exactly stacked in your favor—I mean, obviously...look at you! Shrimpy little cherub looking ass! Hah! And yet here you are, alive and kicking. I dare say we might be looking at an act of divine intervention. What a world!Allelujah, amen and all that good shit!"
Swaying on her feet, Eluthéria looked up at this man, who was easily twice her size, with all the bewilderment of a toddler hearing a foreign language spoken at her for the first time in her life. She saw his lips move, heard the sounds but she couldn't by any means process what exactly he was trying to tell her. Adrenaline. Exhaustion. Fear. It all bore down on her like a big stack of cinderblocks, threatened to crush her frangible faculties under it's enormous heft.
Tears. First one. Then two. She blinked, and all at oncethe floodgates ruptured. This took him off guard.
"Oho, no,  no! None of this sniffling nonsense! You don't perform a top grade kill like that and then cry about it! Come on, girl, suck it up."
Adam swiped a calloused hand somewhat brutishly across her porcelain countenance, whisking away the brunt of the tears and the blood and the sweat. She didn't object. she wanted to, make no mistake. The touch of his skin against hers felt like needles in her brain, an absolutely vile sensation, she wanted nothing more than to be rid of it, but she hadn't the verve to make a fuss.
He shrugged his intricately embroidery cloak off his shoulders and draped it around hers.
Warm.
"Alright, come on, let's see if you've got any more fancy tricks up your sleeve, eh?"
His grip on her stark white locks slackened, and he ushered her towards the steel doors.
She remembers thinking that this was the day she was going to die.
In many ways, she supposes that wasn't an entirely inaccurate assumption.
it was a pleasure to burn (spencer reid x fem bau!reader)
Tumblr media
genre: fluff i think even though the name is v angsty LOL it’s a literal screenplay with the amout of dialogue i wrote LMAO so idk
summary: a particularly rough and disturbing case gets to reader, and spencer and reader are brought together by this.
words: just about 6k (my longest fic ahhHH)
warnings: typical criminal minds gore and violence just up a notch, they get on a plane at the end, somebody gets ~shot~, somebody gets ~bonked~, cursing, mentions of reid’s addiction, and i think that’s it. also the reader wears reading glasses but that’s the only predetermined factor of appearance. btw i don’t think i used any pronouns in this but i apologize if i’m wrong.
a/n: LMFAO i was outside awhile ago celebrating litha with a nice lil hike and i saw a butterfly and i had just started watching cm and was like hMMm... killer who’s obsessed with symmetry??!1??!? y Es. enjoy 😼 EDIT: THERE IS SO MANY PLOT HOLES OMG FBREHJBFHEJFRE IM RBFBRE
🂦∙🂦∙🂦
Present Day, Central Park, New York
“Aren’t they just stunning?” The unsub spoke, keeping her eyes trained on the butterfly sitting happily on her finger. The brightly colored creature fluttered off her hand that was dripping scarlet, flying around her curly head of brown hair. Her, formerly white, blood-stained dress flowed around her as she followed it, watching in awe as it soared about. She giggled, plopping down on the grass in the middle of a circle of her victim’s pale, lifeless bodies, all of them with ironically morbid butterflies resting upon the frail skin of the corpses.
“Aren’t they, agents?”
She slanted her green eyes, gripping the grass a little harder. I flicked my tongue over my lips nervously, looking over to the lanky man on my left. He simply shrugged, just about as sure of how to handle the situation just as much as I was.
“If I knew you all were coming, I would have cleaned up, I really would have, I promise.”
We slowly walked towards her, twigs and leaves crunching under our feet. It could have been comparable to a hunter stalking its prey, but it unfortunately was quite the opposite.
6 days earlier, Quantico, Virginia
“3 bodies, all found within the last 48 hours in rural New York. So far, the first body has revealed that although it was dumped upstate, the victim was murdered in the city, and the same most likely goes for the other bodies as well. Nails well manicured, no drugs in the system. They aren't junkies, we’re dealing with upper class citizens.”
My face contorted as I took the photos from Reid’s hands, his large and tanned one surprising me by how soft it felt as it accidentally brushed against mine. I blushed like a madman, looking to see him doing the same thing. I cleared my throat getting Rossi’s attention.
“Why are we only now hearing of this?” I questioned, flipping through the images as I did so, my confusion only growing. I didn’t recieve an answer, leaving my curiosity to bloom.
“Wait, how did you say they were killed again?”
Morgan looked up, taking the photos from me. “He didn’t.”
I sighed, pushing my glasses up on my nose.
“Is there at least any correlation between the bodies and the butterflies?”
Our attention was shifted to JJ, the resident expert on the insects.
“Actually, the ones being found with the bodies are from the Amarynthis family, all native to Latin America. They weren’t there by accident so yes, they’re somehow related.”
Rossi stood up, grabbing his coat.
“Well, none of this is nearly enough for a profile, so pack your bags and tell the others, wheels up in an hour. We’re headed to New York.”
4 days earlier, F.B.I. Field Office, New York, New York
“The final report from the latest victim is in, all the autopsies are clean. They show no signs of struggles, no marks, no blood, no anything. The eyes weren’t bloodshot, so suffocation is ruled out, and that was our best bet.”
I sighed, sliding the case file across the glass table to Spence as I took my seat, sinking into it and allowing myself to be consumed by its warmth.
“So what your saying is that we’re back at square one.”
I looked up at Hotch from where I sat, running my hand through my ponytail.
“Yeah. That’s what I’m saying.”
Just then, the young Doctor spoke up as he flipped through the pages.
“The eyes weren’t just not bloodshot, there was barely any blood left in any of the victims bodies, only about 3% of the volume left. The killer drained them.”
Morgan gave me a shocked expression, silently asking for an explanation.
“Which you failed to mention, Y/n.” Aaron spoke, agitation once again present in his voice.
I looked at the ceiling, crossing my arms in front of me before turning to face Hotch once more.
“Yeah, well, I thought it was obvious when I said no blood.” I stuttered out cautiously.
“On the bodies! Not in the bodies!” Morgan exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air in what was in my opinion, very childish. Everyone else in the room aside from Spencer was either shaking their heads or pinching the bridge of their noses, and reasonably so.
“Look, I’m sorry I just didn’t see it in the report, plus, In the scheme of things, it just doesn’t seem to matter.”
I soon regretted my words, realizing how ill-fit they were for the current conversation I was having. Spencer looked up, tilting his head.
“Doesn’t seem to matter? How? There’s an endless amount of possibilities now that we know this. If we had known it sooner we probably could have figured out the pattern and caught the one doing this!” He harshly spewed, his voice acting like a crescendo of sorts, quiet and calm and moving towards a loud and violent tone. Tears began to prick at the corners of my eyes and I was starting to feel guilty, not to mention absolutely stupid as could be.
“I’m- I really am sorry guys, truly.”
Hotch locked eyes with me, taking a stern tone that one would usually take with a disobedient child, perhaps even Jack.
“I hope that’s a comfort to you when another body shows up. That’s their blood on your hands.”
I was frozen, the gravity of the situation taking its toll.
In the background I heard him say something to Morgan about a new profile having to be made as there were many new things to be known from this revelation. But it all went in one ear and out the other, just unpleasant white noise.
As I clumsily stumbled out of the room, I felt Reid’s eyes burning holes into the back of my brain. I was quick to turn my head to meet his glance, causing him to look down. I felt bad, the weight on my chest growing heavier from the interaction.
I sat down at my desk, turning on my computer and immediately going to google. I typed in “hypnosis” and let the info trickle in.
About 30 minutes later, I still felt absolutely horrible, but I had also put together a valuable profile in the time that had passed. I shut the newly finished file, blowing an abandoned strand of hair out from my eyes. I had to do a double take when I saw Spencer staring once more, his deep hazel eyes meeting my own. I gave him a small smile before standing up and walking to Hotch’s makeshift New York office. I pushed open the heavy door, placing the folder on his too-clean desk.
“What’s this?” He asked, taking it in his hands.
“My theory about the unsub. I think I know what she’s been doing. You can tell the team if you want, I’m not sure if they would wanna hear it from me. ”
He gave a small smile, pushing the file back over to me.
“You get the team together and I’ll get the local PD caught up. You tell them yourself.”
A few minutes later, everyone except for Reid had gathered in the meeting room. I peeked through the half closed blinds that allowed a line of vision to his desk in an attempt to locate him. He was positioned there, staring blankly at his laptop that appeared to have nothing on the screen. I knocked on the window lightly to catch his attention, his glazed over eyes looking in my direction. I tilted my head at him, silently beckoning him to join me. He only shook his in response, shaggy brown locks swaying back and forth. I sighed, frowning at his action. I turned to the group, clasping my hands in front of me.
“Everyone, this will just be a second if you’ll excuse me.”
With a raised eyebrow from Hotchner and a jab in the direction of Spencer’s workspace, I swiftly walked out of the crowded room.
“Spence, care to join us?” I asked, resting one of my hands against my hip, the other on his orderly desk.
“No, I don’t think I will. I need to try to figure this out before she finds her next victim.”
“What makes you think the unsub is a she?” I searched his eyes that had seemingly become brighter at my piqued interest in his hypothesis.
“Well, the unsub seems to be obsessed with symmetry, all the bodies being found in obscure yet symmetrical positions. This could suggest she had some sort of deep rooted insecurity, possibly from some sort of bullying from growing up in a small town where she was looked at as a superior for subpar looks. She moved to the big city, expecting a big break. Instead she was shunned for being less than average. She grew frustrated and as a result, she began her killing spree. The stresser could have been one too many insults that made her snap. Plus, that would account for the butterflies left on the scenes that are used in modern examples of both femininity and symmetry.”
I smiled widely at his words.
“What- why are you smiling, what are you smiling at?”
I tapped his desk, rolling my bottom lip between my teeth. I headed back towards the conference room, looking over my shoulder.
“Because, I’m glad we’re on the same page, Dr.”
——————
“So, our girl, as Dr. Reid has explained to us, is obsessed with her appearance. She’s an organized killer, no mistakes and no signs of blood or anything of the sort on scene. She has practice, she does this sort of thing every day. She is most likely in the age group of 23-30, and has a job in the cosmetic industry, our guess is in plastic surgery. She probably volunteers weekends at local butterfly sanctuaries or zoos, finding comfort in their perfection that those in her life, or formerly in her life, cannot and could not provide.”
“Which would explain to her easy access to non-native species of the insects. She has an absolute infatuation with symmetry, which yet again, links the butterflies on the crime scene to her MO.”
Spencer and I were vividly explaining our shared theory to the team, as well as local law enforcement. He was excited by his discovery and the lead on the killer, and his energy was contagious.
“She kills without remorse and out of jealousy, picking victims who all have one thing in common.”
Spence pointed to all of the images pasted on the board in the center of the room, all of them split in half and reflected, creating a perfect mirrored portrait.
“They all have perfectly symmetrical faces, as well as strong jawlines and high cheekbones. As most of these victims are models or those searching to start a modeling career, we believe she is luring them in with a photographer trope, promising to make their dreams come true.”
I nodded, taking a moment to study Reid’s own sharp yet somehow soft features. I allowed my eyes to wander over his sunken in, kind, and curious eyes; his pillowy pink lips that are in dire need of some chapstick.
“Agent?”
I turned my head, snapped back to reality by Rossi calling my name.
I gave a tight and quick smile, returning to the topic at hand and tactics to catch the unsub. But of course not before Emily gave me a crooked smile, resulting in me rolling my eyes.
“Physically, she’s nothing special, most likely a mundane appearance or one with quite obvious surgical changes. No in between. Check all of the plastic surgeon offices in the area for both employees who fit our description, as well as a patient who has gotten any serious facial mod operations. Do the same for any weekend volunteers at local zoos and animal sanctuaries, specifically working with any insects.”
It was an NYPD officer then that spoke up this time, raising her hand briefly.
“But, you still haven’t mentioned how she’s killing them?”
“Hypnosis.” Reid and I both spoke at the same time. He looked to his black Converse, sliding his hands into his pockets. I observed the room and all of the skeptical faces filling it.
“Even if it may sound far fetched, we saw no signs of anything that indicated a struggle or even any marks or wounds. This led us to believe that some form of hypnosis was used to allow her an easy kill. This means extra caution will have to be taken when actually handling the unsub. Even though we’re positive she’s using hypnosis, which method she is using to actually kill them after the fact is what we’re unsure of.”
I turned to Spencer, handing off the explanation to him.
“We think that because of her whole thing with symmetry, she wouldn’t want to disturb the natural state of the victims and their faces, even if she would do the same to her own.”
“Which means?” JJ asked, her blue eyes slanted and glossed lips left ajar.
“It means that the unsub wouldn’t want to leave any large marks like stab or gunshot wounds.” I nodded at Prentiss, who had made the assumption, confirming she was correct.
“With her presumed background in plastic surgery, we believe she was able to make small incisions that made no visible scars. We’re having the coroner look back over the bodies as we speak.”
“She drains the body’s blood 97% of the way before closing the holes up. What she does with the blood, we don’t know. Another Eddie Mays, perhaps.”
I looked over to Spencer, raising my brows at his comparison. He was quick to defend himself, shaking his hands left to right and mouthing “No” while simultaneously shaking his head the same way, something he seemed to be doing often as of late.
After we had finished consulting with any officers who had remaining questions, we branched off to conduct our own routine investigations. We found that the only thing they all had in common apart from the symmetrical faces, is that they all had visited the Central Park Zoo in the 24 hours before they were killed. We received a phone call from Garcia not long after we put together those pieces, being alerted that there was one girl who had, in her words, “Hit every mark there was to hit, sunshine.”
“Her name is Alessia Copelas, she works weekdays as a surgeon's assistant at Premier Cosmetic, and weekends at Central Park Zoo from 4-8 p.m.”
I smiled at the new info from the blonde bombshell known as Penelope, turning to Reid who was still looking at me quizzically.
“Alright, thanks babes, you’re the best.” I spoke into the phone, a comical “Mwah!” made from either side as we hung up.
He shook his head, keeping the odd look on his face.
“I swear, you guys have a weirder relationship than her and Morgan.”
I laughed, sliding my phone into my back pocket.
“Oh, please, Spence.” I gingerly placed a hand on his cheek, patting it twice.
“You’re just jealous.” I made a pouty face, letting my hand linger before walking off. “Come on, we’re going on a field trip.”
“Where to?” He asked, gripping the door frame, using it as leverage to swing himself closer to me. He took long and quick strides, catching up to me in no time.
“You like animals, right?”
———————
4 Days Earlier, Central Park Zoo, New York
As soon as we entered the zoo, our ears were filled with the sounds of the loud screeches of birds and monkeys alike. Reid covered his ears, cringing and making his displeasure known with an “Ahh!”
I smiled at his geeky behavior, admiring the animals in the enclosures. I paid special attention to a particularly impressive species of tarantula, leaning down to admire them. A few moments later I looked to my left and saw Spencer doing the same thing.
“Did you know that arachnids have asthma which is why they don’t run for extended periods of time, similarly to cheetahs?”
“Yes I did.”
His face scrunched up in an adorable manner, causing an involuntary giggle to fall past my lips.
“Well did you know that-“
“Ma’am?”
I turned to see a young woman with flaming red hair and a freckled face smiling at me, her green collared uniform top complimenting her eyes of a different shade wonderfully.
“Oh, hi, I’m Agent Y/l/n and this is Dr. Reid, we’re with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.”
Her expression shifted to a more confused one, her smile not leaving her face.
“What can I do for you two?”
“Is there an Alessia Copelas that works here, maybe volunteers on the weekends?” Spencer asked, his puppy dog eyes immediately warranting a response.
“Yeah, she volunteers here, she seems nice. Is she helping with an investigation?”
“Well we think that she may have some part in a series of murders.”
Her smile disappeared this time, turning into a cement frown as panic flooded her body.
“Oh God, was she- Is she a killer? Have I been working with a killer for all this time? I mean, I never had any shifts with her but from what I heard I thought she was so sweet-“
“Look,”
Reid glanced down to her name tag that read “Lillian” before meeting her eyes. His tongue darted out, licking his lips, a nervous habit of his I’d picked up on.
“Lillian, we aren’t sure if she’s the killer we just needed to get a feel on her and get some information regarding her personal life.”
She started frantically nodding her head, more trying to convince herself she was okay rather than ourselves. I looked over her shoulder at some exhibits, thinking to myself how this would end up being a waste of our time if this poor girl couldn’t get a grip on herself.
I was soon proven wrong when I looked over to see a young girl wearing an identical uniform to Lillian, probably somewhere between 23 and 24. She had untamed chocolate locks with bangs that stopped just above the shoulder, blemishes covering her T-Zone, and a rounded face to go with it.
The cherry on top? Under her arm she carried a small enclosure with what appeared to be amarynthis meneria, the same butterflies found on the victims.
I tapped Reid on the shoulder once as discreetly as possible, catching his attention. I heard him mutter a small “Oh God” before he told Lillian to walk away calmly and quickly. She ignored his request, turning to look at Alessia, letting out a blood curdling scream and sprinting the other direction.
“Shit.” I cursed, beginning to walk towards Alessia, Spencer by my side. I smiled at her, trying to appear friendly. Reid spoke up as we got closer.
“Hello, do you by any chance-“
wham!
“Spence!” I exclaimed, reaching down to help him up from where he had fallen from being whacked by the 4’2 pyscho that was Alessia Copelas.
“Did she get away?”
I turned to see her gone, the only sign she was even here being the forming bruise on the Dr’s face.
“Yeah. She did. I’m sorry, Reid, that was really stupid of me.” He shook his head, running his own hand over the raw skin.
“It’s fine, I would have done the same for you.” He looked up, and I wasn’t sure if it was my school-girl esque crush on him or the fact I just had another experience with a serial killer, but my heart was racing nonetheless.
————————
F.B.I. Field Office, New York, New York, 1 Day Earlier
The stress levels in the room were high.
Despite our best efforts, several more bodies had been found, New York’s narcissists were in a state of panic, and the spirits of the BAU were down to say the least.
“What? Are you kidding me?” I exclaimed, looking at Hotch in disbelief.
He rolled his chocolate eyes, fanning the folder containing the new information we had gathered on Alessia.
“I wish I was, Y/n. She’s off the grid completely, her apartment is empty, phone and credit cards have been deactivated, and the surgeon’s office hasn’t heard from her for 5 days. And the media has decided to give her the name ‘Butterfly Baron’, so she’s probably been fueled even further. We need a new lead before she strikes again.”
I scoffed, standing up and pushing my chair away.
“This is unbelievable. How many times do we have to reinforce the idea to local PD! Especially when the unsub is a self absorbed psycho, do not give them a name! God, I really cannot fathom this.”
I reached up, letting my hair down from where I had messily thrown it up upon my arrival to work that morning.
I stormed out of the room, my heels clicking behind me. I ignored Hotch’s calling of my name, making my way to the closest restroom.
I went in, locking the door behind him. I ran my hands through my roots, tugging just enough to where it hurt.
Turning the water to the left all the way, I splashed it from the stream leaving the faucet on to my face. I scratched my fingernails against the skin, wiping away the tears that had escaped.
“This is all your fault, y/n.” I whispered at myself in the mirror, doing my absolute best to engrain the message in my brain. I had my head hung in shame when a knock rang out.
“Y/n?”
It was Spencer. My mind started going a million miles a minute, thinking about why he could be there. With my voice raised a few octaves, I tried to scrape up a response.
“I’ll be out in a few, Spence.”
It was quiet for a split second, leaving me to foolishly dance around the idea that he had left me to wallow in my sorrowful thoughts.
“Y/n, Hotch wanted me to check on you. Are you ok?”
My heart slightly sank at the idea that he might’ve just come to check on me because he himself was worried. I discarded the thought, bringing myself back.
“Y/n can you please answer me? If you don’t open the door I’m gonna send in JJ or Emily.”
I sighed, wiping under my eyes where my mascara had smudged, begrudgingly walking over to the door. Just as my hand landed on the silver handle, his voice that was constantly playing in my head echoed out once more.
“Y/n, please? I need to know you’re okay. I’ll come in there myself.”
A soft smirk graced my face as I turned the handle to reveal a worried looking Spencer.
“Y/n, oh God, you had me worried.”
He was quiet when he spoke and his hair looked messy, like he had been running his slender fingers through it in a stress filled state.
I sniffled, attempting to still keep back tears that were still threatening to spill.
“I’m alright, Spencer. Really, I’m fine.”
He gave me a small smile, his eyes meeting my own.
“I know, it’s just that when I had my Diludad problem,” he hesitated.
“I would lock myself in bathrooms to shoot up, and I know you aren’t having a problem like that but I just was worried about you- what are you doing?”
I cut off his rambling by throwing my arms around his middle. He tensed, but quickly melted. He wrapped his strong arms around my shoulders and my waist, laying his head on mine.
“Y/n, I promise you, you’re doing your absolute best to stop Alessia. We wouldn’t even be where we are right now if you hadn’t made the connections. Those deaths are not your fault.”
My tears finally began to cascade like a waterfall, staining his shirt.
“I know, but it’s just like it is all my fault! I could have paid closer attention, or-or, I could have went after her at the zoo, it’s all my fucking fault, Reid.”
I sobbed into his shirt, my hand gripping his shirt like my life depended on it. Like if I let go I would fall into a deep, deep, endless hole.
His hand on my waist moved up to cradle my head.
“It’s not, I promise you-“
He was cut off mid sentence by the ringing of his phone.
“I am so, so sorry-”
I pulled away, breifly touching under my nose with my wrist, then moving a hair behind my ear.
“Nope, it’s fine, don’t worry.” Our words almost had overlapped each other as we clambered to fight the tension that had risen. I closed my eyes, tilting my head up, thinking about how unprofessional yet intimate our previous position had been. How wrong, yet how right it felt.
I kept running the moment through my head, the feeling of his warm figure encasing mine on replay.
His phone call played as background noise to the film playing in my brain, his voice calming me to an extent.
“Yeah, we’re on our way. Thanks, Morgan.”
He closed the phone with a snap, also snapping me out of my trance, putting the movie on pause.
“They’ve got a hit. Copelas was seen dropping by her old apartment.”
And for the first time since that Goddamn case had started, I smiled genuinely.
“Let’s go get her.”
————————
15 Minutes Prior, Central Park, New York
“Hotch?”
“Yes?” He looked back from where he was driving, following our lead in a rushed manner.
“What will we do if she...” I trailed off.
“Hypnotizes one of us?” He finished for me. I nodded solemnly.
The look on his face was conflicted and it took him a moment to come up with a response.
“We kill her before we have to kill one of our team members.”
He saw a look of uncertainty on my face and spoke up once more.
“And that’s an order.”
I nodded again, making eye contact with him through the rear view mirror. I fell back into my seat, closing my eyes briefly.
After a few more minutes on the road, we had arrived.
The doors all slammed to the SUVs, one after the other as we stepped out.
“The letter said that she would be here, somewhere here.”
The voice of Morgan was channeling through my earpiece, referring to the letter found at her apartment that she had left just for us.
“We ordered evac on citizens, correct?”
The unsure voice of JJ was also heard through the earpiece, her uncertainty quite unusual to hear.
“Yes, it was the first thing we did, Jayj.”
I whispered, a sly smirk from Spencer forming at my behavior.
“Oh shut up.”
“I didn’t even say anything!”
snap!
Our senses adapted, becoming dialed to 11 at the sound of a twig snapping under someone's feet.
“Was that you?” I mouthed to Spencer. He shook his head no and I silently cursed to whatever force was listening.
I nodded, which he then reciprocated, the pair of us slowly walking towards the source of the sound after he did.
“They’re going to remember me, I’ll go down in history.”
The voice was sing-songy and quiet, floating through the air. I took a shaky breath, continuing my steady pace.
My breathing momentarily halted soon after.
Different variations of “Oh my God”s, and loud gasps from almost everyone on the team flooded my ear canal at the horrifying sight in front of us.
Red. So much of it.
“Guys, I think we know what she’s been doing with the bodies’ blood.”
“No shit.” I muttered under my breath.
She was bathed in the blood, it looked like something straight out of a horror movie.
“Alright everyone, I want you to approach her as quietly as possible, Morgan, if you get the chance, corner her.”
Hotch’s voice was a stark contrast to her own, Derek’s response all the same.
—————————
Present Day, Central Park, New York
“But Agents, you still haven’t answered my question. They’re beautiful, aren’t they?”
“Alessia Copeleas, FBI, come on, get up, lets go.”
Derek’s voice was stern, not asking, but demanding that Alessia come with us.
“I’m afraid I just can’t do that, Agents.”
She stood up abruptly, causing all of our weapons to rise. The sun reflected off of the silver metal of Reid’s gun, sparkling in a stunning way that caught me off guard.
We all were trying to act as if we were in total control of the situation, but we could tell that us nor Copelas really believed that. Her words were her weapon, and this was the one time where words could hurt, but sticks and stones had virtually no power.
“Take another step and we will have no hesitation to fire.”
She smirked, rolling her eyes.
“If you do, will I be famous you think? You think they’ll hear about me back home?”
Her curls softly blew in the wind, making her appear almost harmless, maybe even endearing, if it wasn’t for the hardening coat of human blood soaking her clothes and seeping from her skin.
“Is that what you want? The kids back home and everyone here to hear about you? You want ‘Butterfly Baron’ written on every billboard in Times Square, your picture painted in museums, films to be made in your honor?” Reid was the one who spoke up this time, his voice remaining strong. Her eyes shone with a sickening excitement at what he said.
“You want to be famous?”
She nodded vigorously.
“Too bad.”
My eyes widened, surprised at the detour the conversation had taken.
“What-what do you mean?”
“Please, the only thing people will hear about is a sad, boring little girl from a small town who killed to feel better about herself. They’ll forget about you in a week, who knows, maybe they’ll even grow an infatuation with your town, someone you went to school with may get as lucky as to catch their big break!” He laughed, while Alessia looked absolutely devastated.
“You? You’ll be a nobody.”
“That’s not true! I’ll go down in history, and they won’t! I’m the fucking butterfly baron for hells sake! All these people?” She gestured towards her field of bodies.
“You won’t remember their names, maybe not even their pretty faces, but me? I’ll live forever.”
Her nostrils flared and she strode over to Reid with purpose. The safety on my glock clicked off, but Spencer motioned for me to wait. So I did.
“You know, Agent-“
“It’s Doctor.”
This visibly agitated her even more as she started her sentence over again.
“Doctor, you have a beautiful bone structure. Absolutely perfect. Symmetrical, not to mention just flat out stunning.”
A glaze formed over Spencer’s honey eyes at her words. He lowered his gun momentarily before turning towards me, Copelas doing the same.
“And you, Agent. Wow. I feel like I’m in an art exhibit, you’re gorgeous. I think the Doctor man here would agree.”
As he lifted his revolver at me, the situation became all too real as I understood what was happening.
I either had to shoot the man that I was struggling to admit I was beginning to love, or died at the hands of the very same man.
Tears flooded my eyes, all safeties were turned down, and all guns were pointed at Reid.
“Spence, please.”
My voice was weak, something that seemed to bring Alessia lots of joy.
She laughed before talking again, commanding Spencer.
“Pathetic, really! Spence”, she mocked,“shoot her.”
“No!”
bang!
whack!
---------------------
Present Day, Somewhere In The Sky, The Jet
I opened my eyes from where I had been tackled to the ground by Hotch, surveying my surroundings to see Alessia laying on the grass, the source of her gunshot wound non-distinguishable from the previous blood on her body.
I looked to the right to see where Spencer had crumpled to, his frame bent in a discombobulated position.
“Spencer!” I cried out, crawling over to him like some sort of dog,
“What happened to him?”
“Y/n, he was going to shoot you-“
“I don’t care you should have let him!”
I cradled his head in my lap, allowing my pent up tears to fall.
“Y/n?”
My eyes snapped open for real this time, my mind calmed at the sight of Spencer sitting next to me on the couch, gently shaking my shoulder in an attempt to wake me from my nightmare.
“Spencer! Sorry, was I too loud?”
He chuckled, gesturing to the rest of the sleeping plane around us.
“You’re fine, I wasn’t sleeping, I decided to reread ‘Fahrenheit 451’ for nostalgia purposes. And you weren’t that loud, you just looked like you were having a bad dream.”
I chuckled at the not-so outlandish idea in an attempt to diminish it from his mind and move on.
“I’m fine. But fun fact, I did have nightmares after reading ‘The Veldt’. Seriously, I don’t get how you can just reread Bradbury’s stuff all the time.”
The genius scoffed, starting a rant on how Ray Bradbury’s storytelling was just classic literature and deserved to be reread, thus successfully changing the topic as I hoped my statement would. Although soon after, he caught on much quicker than I would have liked him to.
“And not to mention, The Veldt alone could be seen as a forewarning to the 21st century and beyond, even Bradbury himself supported that interpretation-‘
I gave him a tired smile, enjoying his rambling like I always did.
“-and you totally just got me to change the subject.”
“I was wondering when you were gonna catch up.”
“Hey!”
He laughed as I rested my head on my hand, trying to fall back asleep.
“Really, I can tell those nightmares are bad. What’s going on?” He questioned, his tone empathetic and compassionate.
“It’s nothing, Reid. I just keep seeing in the park, when Alessia got shot and you-you got hurt but instead of getting up like you did in real life, you just…”
I trailed off, not wanting to relive the negative dream any longer for fear of the tears that were pricking my eyes escaping.
“It’s okay, that didn’t happen, I’m right here.”
He pulled me into a hug, allowing me to bury my head in the crook of his neck, his warmth consuming me once more, a sequel to the film from earlier.
“I know, but what if it hadn’t?” I asked as I pulled away.
He shook his head, reaching for his wallet.
“In this job, this course of work, we can’t focus on ‘what if’s’. In this job, we also get nightmares, all of us. It happens.”
He slid a picture over to me, it was of a happy family. The edges were worn from years of being carried, but the picture seemed loved.
“Gideon gave me that when my nightmares started. He told me about how those families we save everyday, and how that’s what makes what we do worth it. And I know you didn’t know Gideon personally, or the work on the specific case with that family, but I want you to have it anyway-“
I cut him off by throwing my arms around his neck, attempting to speak despite being muffled by his fluffy sweater.
“Thank you, Spence. Truly.”
I smiled, and I imagined he was doing the same.
“No problem y/n. Anytime.”
I moved my legs over to be tucked underneath my arms, leaning into Reid. He wrapped his arm around me, also leaning in. We both managed to fall asleep for the remainder of the ride in our state of content, but not before he managed to sleepily call out my name.
“Y/n?”
“Yeah?”
“When we land do you wanna go on a date or somethin’?”
I smiled at him, separating from his form just long enough to see that beautiful face of his.
“Without a doubt.”
I just read your Micah and Bill getting pegged fic and omg I LOVED THEM (I always love your work though). So I started wondering .... Do you think Kieran would love to be pegged ? (I think so even if he would be too shy to ask) 👀
hmmm here's a couple of headcanons about it hehe, I think Kieran is one of very few gang members that takes a strap really well xD reader is gender-neutral :0)
Tumblr media
"P-Pegging? What tha- you mean like doin' laundry?"
The more you explain to Kieran what pegging is, the brighter his face goes. By the end of it, he's blood red and looks like he's about to pass out.
He needs a minute or two to calm down, have a breather, and eventually relax.
And then he begins questioning you; he's straight forward, open, and honest, and wants to understand why you're into it, how it exactly works, the usual questions.
"Let me think about it," is all Kieran says before wandering off, and it's obvious he's deep in thought about this.
Kieran won't mention it for a few days, until he says it as a passing comment. You'll be having dinner together, and he'll randomly turn to you and go "yeah, I'm down for that."
He's no stranger to anal, he knows how to prep himself, though he prefers to get himself ready rather than have somebody else do it. It's a trust issue thing, but he's happy to eventually let you help prep him later down the line.
Kieran prefers to lie on his front, and will only do it in a comfortable setting like a hotel room (or just a bed in general.) He has to be relaxed else he'll shy up.
He's not an idiot, he knows exactly what he's doing, he was just confused on how you, a person without a cock, was going to fuck him?
Yes, he does get all flustered the second he sees you with your strap-on on, but treats it as if it's a 'real' cock and follows your lead.
"It suits you, looks pretty... not that you don't always look pretty!"
You may be taking the lead, but Kieran will still be vocal with you; he tells you when to stop, start, go faster, go slower, etcetc.
Once you get into a nice rhythm going, Kieran will show his appreciation through soft moans and whimpers, the odd squeak here and there when you hit his prostate perfectly.
"Oh, t-thats it... yeah, that's real nice," Kieran mutters (a lot.)
He's fine with soft hair pulling, and you being a little rough with him. But he really enjoys you kissing along his shoulder and neck, or purring words of encouragement in his ear.
Kieran thinks ahead and placed a towel down, so he can reach down between his legs and jerk his length as you fuck him. He cums a lot, he always does, but he's almost drowning both of you with his load.
"S-Sorry, I must'a been real excited, I really enjoyed it... as you can see..."
Can you do number 9 for Luke x OMC?
Attempted Interrogations
Pairing: Luke Skywalker x OMC
Fandom: Star Wars
Warnings: angst?, reader is spice runner, mention of parents/friends death, sarcasm
Word Count: 668
A/N: Hello! So I first want to apologize, this is really short, but I kind of liked it short and simple so I hope you like it short too. If you don't, feel free to let me know and I can extend it or rewrite it or write another! Secondly, I wasn't entirely sure what OMC meant but urban dictionary said "original male character", given, I'm still not sure what it meant with "original". ANYWAYS, I basically just wrote this gender neutral because I wasn't fully sure about this, I hope that's okay. Again, feel free to re-request or just let me know and I'll do my best to fix this. If someone could explain OMC to me, that'd be great lol. Sorry for such a long note, I hope you enjoy. Thank you for this request!
Summary: You, a spice runner, get caught by Luke and brought back to the Rebel base, where he attempts to interrogate you.
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine!)
You smiled lazily as you looked over Luke, who was getting quite irritated by your snappy responses. Of course, like the skilled pilot he was, Luke had caught you while you were on your way to make a spice delivery to the Galactic Empire. You now sat in the Rebellion base, Luke attempting to interrogate you while Princess Leia patiently awaited the information.
"You must know something about them, something we can use!" Luke spoke, frustration dripping through his tone.
You shrugged, "I don't ask questions. I just deliver the spice, get my pay, and leave."
"You're telling me you don't know any of their secret plans?"
"Nope."
"Secret bases?"
"Nuh-uh."
"Any codes."
"None."
"Any inside information?"
"Nada."
Luke groaned, "But then why work for the Empire? Why help them?"
You shrugged again, "They pay well."
"No... no there's more to it than that. Why do you sell spice?"
Your gaze faltered, dropping to the floor as Luke huffed out air with a smile. So he was right? There was more to it. He watched you as your eyes studied the floor, having an internal fight about whether or not you should tell Luke your story. Finally, your (e/c) eyes flicked up, locking with Luke's blue eyes when you sighed.
"I was fourteen. I had a rough childhood already, my parents were really busy with working all the time. My father was a mechanic for locals and my mother was a seamstress. They were always gone but that didn't change much. I got into a bad group of friends and started running spice with them," Your eyes flicked back down, no longer able to handle Luke's gaze.
"A deal went wrong so, the guys came looking for us. They killed everyone, all my friends and their families, as well as my parents. I went MIA for a while until a stormtrooper caught me selling spice. Instead of killing me, he told me there were quite a few people in the Empire that were looking for a spice runner for them. I agreed to be their spice runner. I get them any spice they request, any. They give me good business, I give them good spice, now I'm here... so filthy rich I'm not sure what to do with all the money."
Luke felt bad. Sure, he had been a bit harsh, but it was needed to get you to open up. Some part of him wanted to continue to know you. He wanted to know the things that made you want to curl into a ball. He wanted to know the things that made you jump with joy. He wanted to know the things that made you bored out of your mind. He wanted to know how to make you happy, and deep down, a part of him thought he could get used to making you happy.
You smiled as Luke frowned, "And the moral of this story?"
"Not everything has a moral. I don't have one either."
Luke sighed, "You're supposed to say, don't succumb to darkness because of a loss. Keep fighting, don't help the bad guys."
"Really bad guys that enjoy a really good high," You laughed at this.
Luke fought off a smile that your laugh was causing, "You could always join our side, help our side out. I'm sure you have enough money to not need to work again. The princess would offer you a bunk and... and, your help would be much appreciated."
"Does somebody wanna keep me around?" You smiled widely, "I sense that somebody wants to keep me around."
"Shut up," Luke groaned, unable to resist smiling, "You're interesting. You make good company. And someone with experience like you would be extremely helpful towards our Rebellion."
"Hmmm... what if I say I'll think about it."
Luke stood up, shrugging, "I've got time."
Watching Luke leave the room made you smile because you knew you had already made up your mind. You would not be leaving that base any time soon.
Stranger - part one
Pairing: Dean x Reader (future) // Mason (OMC) x Reader (past) Word count: 3,493 Warnings:little bit of angst, fluff, break-up, Dean being the true gentleman he is A/N: this was written for “1541 Folllowers Celebration” hosted by the sweetest of all @herstarburststories (I’m sorry this took me so long). The prompt is bolded. Hope you all enjoy!
(x)
“Whiskey,” a gravel voice mixed with the sound of the stool being pulled out of the counter. “Neat.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to look in that direction. You didn’t want another person to see your face. Not that you cared that strangers saw you crying, but you were already feeling humiliated enough for one night. You downed your shot, closing your eyes as your throat burned.
The music filled your ears. You could only hope this man wouldn’t say a word to you. He was the first person to sit near you since you got here. No one dared to take place even remotely close to you, not even three stools from yours. No one wanted to sit beside a crying mess. No one wanted to feel obliged to ask if everything was fine, even though they already knew the answer.
Sometimes you hated how curious you were. You wanted to know if the man was as handsome as you imagined when you heard his voice. You shouldn’t look. The music. Focus on the music. Loud pop songs echoed in the crowded bar. A group of girls danced and screamed over the dance floor. It seemed to be like a bachelorette party. A few guys hustled pool in the back. Others tried to make their way to undergrads’ panties. Older men sat alone in booths, nursing their beer. On your peripheral view, you watched as the man tapped his glass, asking for a refill. The barman poured him another shot of whiskey.
“Mike, can I get more vodka, please?” You held your glass out for him, batting your eyelashes.
“You already had enough, Y/N,” he walked to you, his lips pressed into a thin line.
“But it did me good, didn’t it?” You raised your eyebrows. “Look, I’m not even crying anymore.”
“I know, but we should get you in a cab.”
“Just one more shot and I promise that’s it for the night,” you stuck out your pinky finger to him. He only shook his head.
“We’ve already done this three times.”
“Fourth time's the charm,” you smirked.
“Only one shot and you’re done,” he warned, pouring your drink. “Then it’s just water for you.”
“Thanks, Mike,” grinning, you took the glass from the counter and downed it.
A sigh escaped your lips as the drink burned its way down your throat. You felt a pair of eyes heavy on you. Placing the empty glass on the wooden counter, you turned to the stranger sitting within two feet from you. Piercing green eyes roamed over your form, studying you until they found their way to your eyes. Your breath hitched in your throat as he seemed to stare deep into your soul. It felt as if he was unveiling your deepest secrets. You half-smiled at him with a little raise of your hand in a finger wave. He raised his glass before bringing it to his lips.
“I’m Dean,” he said with a warm smile.
“Y/N,” the sound of your voice helped to remind you of your real condition.
God, he must think you were some lunatic.
You turned away from him, facing the countless bottles displaying in front of you. Your hands flew to your face, fingers trying to clean the smeared mascara under your eyes. On your peripheral view, you noticed the man standing up from his seat. A shaky sigh escaped your lips as he started walking towards you.
“May I?” He asked, hand on the metal stool beside you.
You nodded, not trusting your voice to give him a decent answer. You just wanted to be left alone, but you didn’t want to sound rude. Unlike other people in the bar, he didn’t give you the same pitiful look. His eyes only showed kindness.
“I heard these guys have the best burger in town,” he said. “Is it true?”
Without averting your gaze from the bottles in the display, you shrugged. You could feel his eyes on you. He clicked his tongue, pursing his lips.
“You from around here? Have you eaten here before?” you didn’t answer him. “Right,” he sighed. “Guess we should order and see it for ourselves then.”
“Look, I’m sorry,” you turned to him. “I don’t know what you’re doing, but I didn’t come here to flirt. So if you don’t mind-“
“Wow, wow, I’m gonna have to stop you there,” his green eyes widened. “I’m not trying to flirt with you or anything. Don’t get me wrong, but you seemed pretty beaten up so I thought that maybe you would enjoy some company to get your mind off whatever it is that’s bothering you. Now if you don’t want me here, then just say the word and I’m gone.”
“No, uh, you can stay I guess.”
“Good,” he gave you a short nod. “Burgers?”
“Yeah,” you smiled weakly.
Dean ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a portion of french fries. You decided to order the same. The two of you waited in silence. Not that there was a need to say anything. The food arrived along with two beers. A moan escaped Dean’s lips once he took a bite of his burger.
“Hmmm, this is so good,” he grumbled, his eyes closed and mouthful.
Your lips curled into a small smile at the sight of the stranger savoring his food. You took a bite of your burger, repressing a moan in the back of your throat. It wasn’t the first time you’d tried their food, but it had been a while though. They still had the best cheeseburger in town for sure.
“It’s good, huh?” He asked you, lips curled upwards.
“Yeah, it is.”
You finished the rest of your food in comfortable silence. Both too focused on the heavenly taste and the greasy french fries.
“Shit, you shouldn’t be having that,” he said as you took a sip of your beer.
“Of course I should.”
“No, you shouldn’t,” he shook his head. “That Mike guy said you already had enough to drink tonight and from now on you would only have water.”
“Oh, c’mon, I’m not even drunk,” you nearly whined. “And why would you care?”
“I don’t know,” he shrugged. “I just know that if you get really drunk to the point you won’t be able to walk, then someone might want to take advantage of you.”
“Hmmm, you got a point,” you took another gulp of your beverage and he gave you a sharp look. “But you see, Mike is my friend so he’s not gonna let anyone take advantage of me. Especially you.”
“Me?” His green eyes widened, voice rising about an octave or two. “Especially me?”
“I don’t know you. In fact, you could be pretending to be nice just to drug me or something.”
“I’d never do that,” he sounded truly offended.
“How am I supposed to know you’re saying the truth?”
“Guess you just gotta trust me.”
“Yeah, right,” you scoffed, downing the last bit of your drink. “The last time I trusted somebody all I got was an astronomical heartbreak.”
“Since I’m a stranger, I can’t break your heart.”
“But you could kill me,” you pointed out.
“Yeah, ‘cause I’m a serial killer,” he rolled his eyes, returning his attention to the bottle in his hand and downing the rest of the beer. “I’m not a serial killer.”
“I know,” you chuckled. “You look harmless, Dean. You seem as innocent as a puppy.”
Dean rolled his eyes, signaling to the bartender to serve another round.
“So do you mind me asking what you're doing here?” He asked, green eyes searching for any expression that gave away the reason you were alone on a Friday night.
“Well, since you’re just a stranger and you’re not a serial killer, then I don’t mind you asking,” you pointed. “My boyfriend broke up with me.”
“That sucks,” he muttered before gulping his beer. “Guess that’s why you look like you’ve been crying for hours on end, right?”
“Right,” you clicked your tongue. “What about you, Dean? What’re you doing here alone on a Friday night?”
“Relaxing I guess,” he shrugged. “Plus, a friend of mine told me the food here is great. I had to figure that out for myself.”
“Hmmm, I see,” you nodded. “Guess I look terrible right now.”
“I wouldn’t say terrible,” he leaned to your side, his lips curving in a playful smile. “You don’t look terrible, Y/N. You actually caught my eyes when I stepped inside.”
“Then you saw my face and-“
“Then I saw your face and wondered what could have broken that pretty girl’s spirit.”
“Mason happened,” you mumbled, eyes focused on the recently opened bottle in your hands.
“So the douche has a name.”
“I thought he was going to propose,” you chuckled humorlessly before taking a large gulp of your beer. “Can you believe it? How crazy is that? I was sure he was gonna propose and he broke up with me!”
“He might be worse than I thought.”
“Oh, he is. I was sure he was planning a surprise. Who the hell invites someone to their favorite restaurant just to break up with them? C’mon, look at me,” you motioned to your body. “I dressed up for this. I put on a really nice dress just to look good. ‘Cause I knew I’d remember this. I was sure I was gonna come back home with a diamond ring on my finger and we’d have some hot ‘hey, we’re engaged’ sex. I’m ridiculous.”
“No, you’re not. That guy certainly didn’t deserve you. If he wanted to break up, he wouldn’t have given you hope for a brighter future.”
“I was probably reading too much into this.”
“So? He still shouldn’t have done it this way.”
“Can you believe he didn’t even pay the check?” A dry chuckle escaped your lips.
“He’s a dick.”
“You know the greatest loves of all time are over now,” you sighed, taking a bite of the last french fry.
“No, they are not,” he shook his head vehemently, staring back at you with wide eyes.
“How do you know that?”
“How do you know they are?” He challenged.
“Look around, Dean,” you said. “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore? Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck? DiCaprio and Gisele? They all broke up.”
“So what?” Dean blurted out, his voice rising. “That doesn’t mean anything.”
“Of course it does,” you argued. “They’re all beautiful, smart, kind people and they are alone. People looked up to them. If they got divorced, then what’s left for me?”
“You have nothing to do with them,” he said. “And since you care so much about famous people and their relationships why aren’t you talking about Beckham and Victoria? Obama and Michelle? Gisele married freaking Tom Brady. He’s way better than DiCaprio,” he pointed out. “The greatest loves of all time aren’t over, Y/N.”
“But why does it feel like they are?”
Tears started to well in your eyes. Your voice wavered just above a whisper. Dean smiled sympathetically.
“You just had your heart broken by someone you care about. It’s okay to feel this way.”
“You’re a nice guy, you know?”
“I heard that once or twice,” he smiled, his head ducking down to hide the blush that crept up in his cheeks. “Now where’s that restaurant you mentioned?”
“Just a few blocks from here. The fancy Italian one,” Dean nodded. “Why?”
“Not today of course, but I’m gonna take you there again sometime.”
“Are you asking me on a date?” Teasingly, your lips curled into a smirk. You were having a blast watching him get all flustered.
“No, what I’m saying is since that’s one of your favorite restaurants, you shouldn’t have a bad memory of it.”
“Thanks,” you smiled, your eyes finding his beautiful green irises. “Dean? Can I ask you a favor?”
“Sure, anything. Shoot.”
“When I walked down to this bar I had made up my mind that I would get drunk tonight,” you admitted. “It’s much easier to deal with a hangover in the morning than crying myself to sleep. Can you respect that?” You offered him the best pleading look you could muster.
“Yeah, I can,” he nodded, finishing his drinking and calling for another round. “I don’t judge you, alright?”
“You don’t?” Dean noticed a spark in your eyes when you heard his words.
“I don’t,” he smiled. “I’ve been there. It was a long time ago but I still remember how much it hurt. I drowned my sorrows throughout the whole week. I stank alcohol. Then things got better. They always do. You might not see it now, but you will.”
“Why are you being so nice to me?”
Dean only shrugged. Silence fell between you. Dean finished what it was his last beer while you had a few more and some whiskey shots. Every gulp seemed like a better idea. It was. Anything was better than having that dull ache in your chest.
“Why did he do that?” You drawled as a cry broke out. Dean snapped from his thoughts and turned to you. “If he didn’t love me anymore, why couldn't he make it painless?”
“Because he’s an idiot and he only cared about himself.”
“Why people always leave me? Am I this broken that people just feel like they need to go away?”
“No, of course not,” his voice was gentle, his hand reached up to your cheek, fingers wiping the tears that fell freely. “You’re not broken, Y/N.”
“How can you say that? You don’t even know me.”
“It doesn’t matter. You’re not broken and if people leave you, then it’s their loss,” a weak smile appeared on your lips. “You wanna hear something?” You only nodded. “What kind of tree fits in your hand?”
“What?” You asked with a tilt of your head. Your mind was too foggy to understand where he wanted to get with that.
“What kind of tree fits in your hand?” He asked again, a playful smile hanging on his lips.
“None,” your eyes casted down to your hands, examining them carefully. “My hand is too small to fit a tree.”
“No, Y/N,” he shook his head, trying to hold back his laugh. “It’s a palm tree.”
You stared blankly at him. Dean could almost see the gears in your head slowly spinning due to the alcohol. When you didn’t laugh, he decided it was better to explain it to you.
“Y/N,” he took your hand in his big one. You hummed. “A palm tree.”
“Oh,” you muttered, gaze fixated on your hand in his. Dean searched for any sign that would give away what you thought of his stupid joke. “Oh!” You blurted.
A wave of laughter came out louder than you expected. His joke finally made sense to you. Dean chuckled. He was relieved you found it funny. At least the drunk version of you did. Your laugh was contagious and the most heartwarming sound Dean had heard in months. He watched hiccups escape your lips with a smile.
“Alright, I think you had enough now,” Dean reached for the beer bottle on the wooden counter, he took a gulp and fished it. “We should get you home.”
“Okay,” you sighed, hands fumbling in your purse in search of your phone. “Here,” you placed it in his hands. “Call an Uber for me. It’s-“
“You’re not getting in an uber like this,” he shook his head. “C’mon, I’ll drop you home.”
Dean placed some bills on the counter, enough to cover your drinks and a generous tip. You hopped off the stool in a quick movement, feet wobbling, legs barely able to hold your weight.
“Hey, easy there,” he said, his hands wrapping on your biceps, keeping you steady. “Can you walk?”
“Mmhmm.”
You followed him to his car. Giggles escaped your lips out of nowhere. Dean only smiled with a shook of his head. He opened the door for you, making sure you wouldn’t bump your head or just fall on the passenger seat. You mumbled your address and were surprised that he understood what you said.
“I… I got a joke too,” your tongue drawled most ridiculously.
“You do?” He chuckled, taking a quick glance at you before turning his attention back to the road.
“I do.”
Dean waited for you to share but nothing came out.
“You not gonna share?”
“What do you call a be- a bear with no ears?” You hooted.
“What?” He smiled at you.
“A B.”
Dean chuckled. It wasn’t the kind of laugh you were expecting though. He glanced at you and noticed your arms crossed over your chest while a pout hung on your lips.
“What’s wrong?”
“You didn’t like it,” you mumbled.
“Of course I did,” he nearly squealed.
He pulled up in the driveway and put the car in park. Dean climbed out of it and circled. A creak echoed through your dizzy head as he opened the door. You hopped off your seat, wobbly feet causing you to lose your balance. Firm, warm hands wrapped on your elbows, keeping you from falling. You were so tired and your legs weren’t even cooperating.
“You sure you can walk?” His emerald eyes scanned you. You only shook your head in defeat, not even daring to meet his eyes. “Okay. Just gimme your keys then.”
Hands fumbling in your purse, you found the keys and handed them to him.
“It’s the bigger one,” you told him.
Dean nodded. Before your tipsy mind could get a hold of what was happening, your feet were off the ground. One arm was under your legs and the other supported your back. You wrapped your arms around his neck, nuzzling into his chest. The warmth of his body irradiated through the layers of clothing. His musky scent was almost inebriating.
“Hmmm, so comfy,” you muttered against his flannel.
Dean walked with you in his arms to the front door. He managed to open it without having to let go of you. Stepping inside, his eyes roamed over the living room.
“My bedroom is in the far end,” you explained, voice muffled by the fabric of his shirt, eyes closed.
The door to your room was open and Dean was glad for that. He walked in carefully not to have you bumping your head against the doorframe. Dean placed you on the bed. Your entire body relaxed at the feeling of the soft mattress. He removed your boots and you curled up on your side, opening your eyes to see him sitting beside you.
“You okay?” He asked, fingers gently tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear.
“Been better,” you said sleepily. “Doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“Good. I’m glad,” he smiled, his thumb caressed your cheek. “You’re tired. I should get going.”
“Don’t,” you whined, holding his wrist. “Stay, please.”
“Only for a little while.”
“The room is spinning,” you chuckled.
“God, you’re gonna wake up to a killer hangover.”
“Yep.”
You got lost in his jade eyes, enjoying his proximity and the feeling of his fingers on your cheek. Even in your drunk state, you could still make some of his gorgeous features.
“Why can’t I just fall in love with someone like you?” Your voice was barely audible as you dragged out most words. “You barely even know me, but you’re already taking care of me. You’re one of the good guys, Dean.”
“I try, sweetheart,” he smiled.
“I can see myself falling for you.”
“Nah, you can’t,” he scoffed. “You’re probably seeing two of me right now.”
“Yeah,” you chuckled.
“I’m gonna get you some water, then you’ll go to sleep, alright?”
“Alrighty,” you yawned.
Dean headed to the kitchen to get you a glass of water. He felt bad seeing you this way. He could see it in your eyes how much you were hurting over the break-up. He walked back into the room only to find you already asleep, curled on your side. He placed the glass on the nightstand.
Before leaving, Dean searched for some paper. He fumbled in your drawers, finding a block of sticky notes and a pen. He wrote down on the paper and left it on the nightstand, your phone on top of it. Dean exited the room, closing the door behind him, and left the house. He made his way to the car and he couldn’t help but hope he’d see you again.
Tomorrow you’d wake up to a pounding headache, a dry mouth, and several waves of nausea. Then you’d found his note resting under your phone.
You probably don’t remember me, but I’m the guy who brought you home safe and sound. I can help you remember what happened last night. And I kinda owe you a date to that restaurant you like. Just call me: (785) 389-7216 or don’t. I don’t know. - Dean.
