Honey Fritters
Jaune walks out of the shared JNPR kitchen, a proud smile on his face as he presents a plate of honey fritters for the rest of his team.
Jaune: “Hey everyone, I made us all honey fritters to celebrate the success of our most recent mission!”
With a loud whoop, Nora quickly made her way over and snatched a couple before being followed by a far more sedate Ren who merely grabbed one before ushering Jaune a grateful thanks. Pyrrha grabbed one with a smile, before taking a bite into it and letting out a sudden gasp.
Pyrrha: “Oh my, these are so good that I feel like I can take over an entire kingdom! No, the entire WORLD!”
Jaune: “I know right? I don’t know what it is about these fritters, but they just make me feel like I can just take demolish an entire hierarchy and make a new one!”
Pyrrha: “I guess we’re both of a similar mindset Jaune!”
Jaune: “I guess we are Pyrrha!”
Pyrrha: “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!”
Jaune: “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!”
Jaune/Pyrrha: “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!”
while Jaune and Pyrrha both shared a laugh together, the remaining two members gave them both a wary glance. A nervous laugh bubbled past Nora’s lips, before she turned to Ren with a shaky smile.
Nora: “Eh heh, uh, Ren? You don’t think... you don’t think Jaune and Pyrrha would actually try and go and conquer the entire world? Right?”
Ren: “Nora, I’m going to be completely honest with you: I don’t think it’s a matter of them not trying to do it, I think it’s a matter of if they do it.”
Nora shoots a nervous look over at the still laughing Jaune and Pyrrha, before turning back to Ren with a terrified look on her face.
Nora: “and if they do?”
They both look to see that Jaune and Pyrrha are sharing another laugh, however they both have a dangerous glint in their eyes, their smiles a little too wide, and there was something... off about their laughter. Ren could only grimace, before turning to Nora with the most dead serious look on his face.
Ren: “Then I say we would offer a prayer to anyone who’s either bold enough or dumb enough to stand in their way and hope that they don’t burn everything to the ground in their inevitable conquest...”
Pyrrha: “Say Jaune, what would be the best way to quickly neutralize several key areas of importance to make for an easy battle? Hypothetically speaking?”
Jaune: “Hey it’s funny you should ask that, because I actually have a lot of ideas planned out in regards to that. The first one is based off of-”
Ren: “...And that we stay on their good sides and out of the fucking crossfire.”
                                      ========================
Jaune = Western Roman Empire.
Pyrrha = Eastern Roman Empire.
Another post based out of the Archives of Madness and written between @noneatnonedotcom and I. The post was inspired by the after mentioned honey fritters based off an episode of Tasting History with Max Miller. There’s just something about those fritters that makes you wanna go out and conquer half the world or something.

LOOKING at your post about gods!swagdoons and their religions becoming intervowen omg thats such a cool concept!! do you have any more thoughts on made up mythology by chance pointrightpointleft
omg....i do!
gonna focus on their cults for a second but id think they'd meet up because of trading and whatnot ^_^ since yk. swagdoons and business partners and whatnot but id imagine their cults would have a lot of things about economics (red's moreso, ash's would just use money as a status symbol/sign of power)! so uh. insert coin tossing and riches rituals here. and also insert ash's cult using money as a sign of loyalty here bc its like, giving up your ego to someone. yeag .
but yeah! some misc things is that i think their cults would be Well Known but they have funky variations depending on which region you go to >_< sorta like how there's Flavors of swagdoons depending on which series you base them off of! also they'd have the craziest and sickest parties i just Know it . dionysian parties type beat fr!

For dinner tonight, I made some Byzantine Honey and Pepper fritters based on a recipe from Apicus de re Coquinaria. They are sweet and puffy with a gooey center! I hope that if you were a Medieval Mediterranean Merchant, you'd buy some from my street food stall in Constantinople.

Lunch with his family — Elvis Presley x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Elvis invites you to his house for lunch because his family is having lots of their friends and family over.
Pairing: Elvis or Austin!Elvis x fem!reader
Word count: 586
Warnings: none!! Fluff, cute lil one shot
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across your bedroom as you finished tidying up. Just as you were about to head downstairs, the jingle of your telephone broke the quiet stillness of the house. Rushing to answer it, you recognised Elvis' voice on the other end.
“Hey, honey, you free today?” Elvis' smooth drawl filled the line. You couldn't help but smile. “Why, do you want me to be?” You teased, a playful tone in your voice.
“I'll pick you up in half an hour,” he declared, his words making your heart skip a beat. “Mama's having a big lunch in the yard, the whole family's coming round,” he continued.
With a flutter of excitement, you agreed, hanging up the phone and hurrying to get ready. Before you knew it, there was a knock on your front door. Straightening your skirt and smoothing down your hair, you rushed to answer it, greeted by the sight of Elvis' handsome smile.
Arriving at his Audubon drive house, you were enveloped by the tantalizing aroma of his mama’s home-cooked recipes and the sound of laughter carrying through from the backyard. Elvis' mama greeted you, bustling around, fussing over you with a motherly warmth. Elvis took you through to the table in the garden, where everyone soon got settled to begin eating. His mama couldn’t contain her curiosity about the date Elvis took you on. She bombarded you with questions about where he took you, what you ate, was he gentlemanly, and whether you enjoyed yourself.
Elvis, ever protective, stepped in, gently chiding his mama for overwhelming me with questions. “Mama, ease up a bit, you're making her nervous,” he said with a chuckle, shooting you an apologetic smile.
“It’s okay, Elvis.” You assured him, cheekily taking the bite of tomato fritter off his fork.
“Thank you so much for lunch, Mrs. Presley,” You said, after finishing off your plate, turning to Elvis’s mama with a warm smile.
She waved off your thanks with a gentle smile. “Oh, honey, no need to thank me. You know you’re welcome here any time,” she said kindly, her eyes twinkling with warmth.
Before you could respond, she turned to Elvis with a mischievous glint in her eye. “I made a chocolate mousse for you and your sweetheart to share for a little dessert if you wanted,” she said, her voice tinged with playful teasing.
Elvis stood next to you, his hand soothingly rubbing your back, he could tell you needed a bit of alone time away from all the excitement of all the guests over.
“Thank you, Mama,” he said with a charming smile, coming up with an excuse. “We might go sit inside the house and eat. It’s getting a bit warm out.”
With his arm around your shoulder, you made your way inside the house, leaving behind the chatter and laughter of the outdoor gathering. Once you were settled on the couch, Elvis retrieved the chocolate mousse from the fridge, along with two spoons.
As you indulged in the creamy dessert, the rich chocolate melting on your tongues, Elvis wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close.
Between mouthfuls, Elvis spoke softly, his voice filled with tenderness. “So, for our next date, should I surprise you, or do you want to tell me where to take you?”
You smiled, “Surprise me.”
With a grin, Elvis squeezed your hand gently, his eyes sparkling. “You won’t be disappointed,” he murmured, his gaze never leaving yours.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was writing on my laptop when Chris walks in with ivy on his hip, I look at him. "hey bubbs what's up?" Ivy says. "daddy take me on a date!"
I smile and Chris says. "Yes we are heading out for a bit is that ok?" I nod. 'Don't be late you two, curfew is at nine" Chris laughs leaning down kissing me softly. "yes Ma'am" Ivy waves. "bye mommy!! I wuv you!" I smile. 'i wuv you to princess have fun with daddy"
Chris smiles as they walk out the door.
Chris's POv.
"Alright princess where to first?" I asked as I helped her out of her car seat next to a shopping Center. "Toys!?" I laugh taking her hand in mine. "Ok ok toys it is." We walk into a store and look around and she says pointing at something. "Daddy daddy!! Can we get that oll!"
I look at the doll and say. "Sure princess" I take it and say. "is that all?" She nods. "es"
I pay for the toy and Ivy says. "Food?" I smile as we walk out of the store. "Sure" I hold her hand as we walk into the small cafe and it hits me, I met Ellie here.
I smile as I look around and find the spot where she ran into me and spilled her coffee all over my suit. I have flashbacks to that day, her smile after I told her to not bother with getting the hot coffee off my shirt.
"Daddy!" I blink and look at my five year old. "yes yes i'm here princess" I pick her up and ask for a table and we walk to one and the waitress walks to our table and she smiles. "hello I am Mary and i'll be glad to take care of you two what can I start you off?"
I smile at the lady. "My princess will take some juice." Ivy says. "Offe!" "no coffee for you honey"
Ivy crosses her arms. "Ivy please be nice" Mary laughs. "Do you want daddy to have me get you a juice?"
I smile and say. "that'd be great thank you" She smiles at me and says. "Sure thing handsome"
I place my hands on the table making sure she sees my ring, I hate it when people hit on me..even when I am married to...God the most amazing woman in the damn world...I smile thinking of Ellie. "Daddy ove smile"
I look at her and smile. "yes I do love to smile ivy your right" I kiss her head and she says. "ood?"
"okay I can order some food for us princess" Mary walks back with a juice and coffee.
"Can I order a donut and apple fritter?" Mary places her hand on my shoulder. "Sure thing darling" I roll my eyes and ivy says. "daddy oves mommy" Mary looks at her and says. "Oh I'm sorry I thought you were a single father"
I hold my hand up showing the wedding band. "Happily married" She frowns. "lucky woman" she walks away and I shake my head and send Ellie a text.
Chris-I miss you my queen.
Ellie-Uh oh who's hitting on you this time babe?
Chris-waitress 😆
Ellie- 🙄 I had a feeling that would happen but you know you have a ring on..right?
Chris-yes wifey I showed her...I think she's jealous now.
Ellie-damn right baby!! I'm one lucky girl 😏
Chris-i'll be home soon, I love you.
Ellie-I love you too babe.
I put my phone away and Mary brings back to food and says. 'Anything else Mister Evans?" I send her a warm smile. 'No that's all thank you" She smiles and walks away.
After we enjoy our day daughter date we head home and we walk in and Ellie is making some tea in the kitchen. Ivy says. "hi mommy!" She runs and Ellie turns and picks ivy up. "Hey sweetie did you and daddy have fun?" She nods. "bad girl at daddy"
"Oh?" Ellie glances at me and I send her a warm smile and walk to my girls and say. "Ivy why don't you go put your toy away and get ready for dinner" She nods. 'Okay" Ellie sets her on the ground and Ivy runs off to her room.
I look at Ellie and she pours the water into her tea and says. "bad girl uh?"
I watch her spin and face me with a smirk. "She was upset about me being married" Ellie shakes her head. "I'm sorry babe" I take her tea cup and set it on the counter. "Don't be" Ellie looks at me and I wrap my arms around her waist. "I love you much Ellie Evans"
"I love you too Chris Evans" I kiss her softly then she runs her hands in my hair and I pull away and smile. "I really do love you" She frowns. "I know babe you don't have to tell me, it shows through how amazing you are with the kids and with dodger and me....I know you love me"
I hug her. "I'm the lucky one my love" She smiles making me feel safe a warm.

Trick or Treat!!!
Prompt: Katniss and Peeta trying to have their first Halloween post-rebellion.
(Could be moodboars, drabble, headcanons, etc..) 🧡🖤🧡
I don't think Panem (or at least D12) have Halloween, but I have a little something for Everlark in their first autumn post-rebellion.
First, some music for ya:
Our bedroom has gotten colder these past few weeks, but we don't shut the window. Peeta emanates enough heat to keep us warm under our blankets. When my nose gets cold, I bury my head into his neck and warm up right against his skin.
This morning, my nose buried between his neck and our pillow, I'm between the place of a rare pleasant dream and the grounded reality of Peeta's arms around me. And something in me is so grateful for him, I give him a kiss on his collarbone.
He stirs under me and asks in his deep, groggy morning voice, "Katniss?"
I hadn't thought of him feeling the kiss and I wonder if I should be self-conscious of what I just did. We've been sharing a bed since the start of summer, but we hadn't kissed one another yet. A lot holding each other, hands wiping away tears, but nothing to give way to what we had been that night on the beach.
I pull back and hope not to talk about it. Even hope that maybe he'll question if it was his own pleasant dream.
"I have a surprise for you," I say. "But you have to get up and get dressed."
"What's the surprise?" he asks.
"That's not how surprises work," I say as I pull back the covers and sit up. "Get dressed. Sturdy shoes and warm."
He doesn't ask any more questions as he goes to the closet to pick out his clothes while I go to the bathroom to change into mine. From there, I go to the kitchen and prepare two thermoses of hot tea, one with a spoonful of sugar and one unsweetened. I'd prepared both of our bags the night before and give Peeta his.
Outside, our hands automatically find one another as we walk in the dark autumn morning. The rest of the district continues to sleep, the skeletons of buildings in the middle of their construction waiting for the workers to return.
We walk past the Seam, past the meadow, and past the apple trees we'd spent last week gathering to make apple fritters. The palest sunbeams filter through the forest's trees, dark pines and autumnal oak.
Peeta's grip tightens. "You're bringing me in here?"
"It's safe," I say. "I'll make sure you stay safe."
"It's not that," he says. "I guess I've always thought of this as your place. Yours and...his."
"It's anyone's who wants it to be theirs now," I say. "And I want to show it to you."
He acquiesces and follows me into the forest. I keep an eye on him. Even without a fence or Peacekeepers enforcing the perimeter, few people have braved the woods. Yet Peeta takes it all in with round, awed eyes. Sometimes I can sense he wants to stop and pause, but I keep us moving until we reach the rock ledge looking out to the crests of mountains and the spine of the valley below. The sun has illuminated the land with morning honey light, filtering through a distant mist. It is a dappled mixture of deep green pine trees, yellow-leaved birches, orange-leaved oaks.
I've seen it every fall for years, so instead I take in Peeta's face as he faces a scenery entirely new to him. Yesterday he'd been admiring a single leaf from the oak tree at the entrance of Victors Village and I knew then he had to see this place of unimaginable, untouched beauty, blooming with the season's colors. And he doesn't disappoint. A long puff of a cloud emerges from his lips parted in wonder and the corners of his mouth peak up.
"This is beautiful," he says.
"I put your travelling paints in your backpack," I say. "In case you want to paint it."
"I most definitely do."
I get out the food I'd packed in my bag while Peeta prepares his watercolors and paper and gets to working. I've divided up the breakfast of raisin bread, candied pecans, and apples onto two plates but I've finished all of mine before Peeta looks up from his colors to nibble on his own. I sip my tea and simply watch the sun rise over the ridges and Peeta's hands dabble color onto his paper.
When he's finished he sets it aside to dry a little as he finishes his breakfast and sits back.
"I'd seen these colors on the mountains around us, but I could never imagine what it'd be like to look down on them," Peeta says.
"There's still a lot of beauty for us to see," I say.
"I don't know what I could possibly show you," he says.
I think of what I can't put into words. Hope. Light. Warmth. The beauty Peeta gives me every day is so much more precious than this view, even if it's all I have to offer him in return.
Instead, I lean forward and kiss him on the cheek so he knows this isn't a dream.

Pairing: Elise/Lebkuchen (sfw)
Word count: 818
———
“Have you ever tasted pure moonlight, Elise?” Lebkuchen asked one night by the bell tower’s railing, wisps of honeyed brown falling wild and free from the cover of her habit.
She bent low to toy with the breeze, daring to raise her feet off the ground before Elise thought to speak.
“Moonlight?” Elise’s question was rough, broken up by the extol that she stymied—Lebkuchen was beautiful this far away from the congregation, carefree and spry, flirtatious like something wicked compelled her. The notion left Elise blustering. “Of course I haven’t, have you?”
“Not yet,” Lebkuchen said, dropping her feet back to the floor, “but I think I’d like to.” Her heeled shoes clacked along the stone, a minor discordance within the calm, though her eyes held a mote of reprieve.
Elise shuffled forward, a mere two steps, just enough to grasp at Lebkuchen’s rosary, fingers wrapping around its lacquered cross. “Have you been sleeping alright?”
“Certainly.”
“You’re talking nonsense.” Elise tugged lightly, hoping to see that beaded chain snap.
“Am I not permitted to call upon the beauty of St. Walpurga’s gifts?” There was an air of jocularity about her, the smallest twitch of her lips the only, minute tell. It was plain as day to Elise—one did not fritter away their youth at Lebkuchen’s side without learning her knack for arbitrary bouts of wit—and her eyes fixed upon that drawling simper. “Pontification is my calling after all.”
For once, there was no retort primed and waiting at the tip of Elise’s tongue, only silence, the flustered sort. The maddening, dizzying, flustered sort.
Where moonlight peppered through the thready stratus, there was a brief refraction; light once pale now tinged golden with the town’s street lamp glow, the residual beams mottling Lebkuchen’s rounded cheeks until she looked carved from marble. There was a cluster above the bow of her upper lip, too—a most glaring distraction.
“—do you want to?”
Elise straightened at her words, face red as a beet. She’d missed the front end of Lebkuchen’s question, her subsequent brow raise denoting humor and impatience both. “What… what was that?”
“I’d be more than happy to grant you your first taste.”
“My first taste…” Elise had meant the utterance as a question, though it fell breathy from her lips, the flutter of Lebkuchen’s lashes allusive enough for her to teeter where she stood.
Life was a silly little song—Elise pondered with an overeager nod—the direction that their night had swiftly gone most capricious indeed. Though she found no need to complain, all wariness from the day sputtering to inconsequence when she tugged at the rosary again, incessant until their lips crushed together.
It was sloppy, the way they danced—Elise’s fervid want for something brighter, something sweeter leaving her a covetous mess, pressing Lebkuchen’s back into the railing until she winced at the sudden torque. Elise pulled away, sheepish, an apology lodged in her throat.
“How was that?” Lebkuchen beat her to it, eyes still closed like she existed elsewhere for a time.
“I don’t know.” Elise could hardly hear herself speak; her awe was but fodder for the wind’s rolling tumble. “I think I need a little more.”
A little more time away; a little more freedom, somewhere the two of them could lay. The fire in her chest blared brightly, it always had, but Lebkuchen tamed its virulent flicker with the press of her sturdy hands.
She cupped Elise’s cheeks, yanking her forward, twisting her fingers in her hair as she pried open the seam of her lips. Elise’s following gasp was lost, fluttering somewhere behind the latch of Lebkuchen’s teeth, swapped quickly for a low and heady hum. A fair trade if ever there was one.
Elise was lost, beguiled by the taste of Lebkuchen’s luster—sweet like the grape preserves she’d shared over lunch. She was insatiable, tracing her fingers over the cut of Lebkuchen’s collarbones, the slope of her neck, nipping at her bottom lip just as she tore the habit free from Lebkuchen’s head.
She gasped, and the slip of cerulean silk fell—dainty like a leaf on the breeze, twisting and twirling about until it landed amidst the fountain’s even ripple.
“Elise!” Lebkuchen admonished with no hint of sincerity, swiping the hair from her eyes now that the thick of it was left unbound. “You're taking the fall for it if Father Hans finds me wet-headed and ravaged come morning.”
At that, Elise’s smile of pride dropped the barest inch. “You wouldn’t be so cruel, Leb…” Lebkuchen pursed her lips. “You wouldn’t.”
Her tacit plea only wrought a stifled chuckle, the sound devolving into laughter as rich as the luring promise of Elise’s dreams; as brilliant as the moon and stars and yonder city lights combined. Elise conceded with a moony sigh, only watching for a moment before seeking to swallow the very sound.
Moonlight dappled, and the woods did not call so loudly.
