🎄 MERRY EARLY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! 🎄
I made some Traffic Light Trio chibis ready for Christmas!🚦I literally spend hours trying to pick up outfits and ended up doing a improvisation 😅
Also! My first time drawing one of my favorites ships from LMK "Dragonfruit aka Redson x Mei I just couldn't help making a fluffy of those two ( ╥o╥ ) besides Redson deserves so much love! so expect some "Spicynoddles" in the future (╯✧▽✧)╯
I wanted to do something big but I feel very comfortable of being able to do some chibis of the sillies I hadn't the enough time for a full fanart but also I didn't wanted to not making a little Christmas drawing ♡
For everyone here I hope you have a sweet Christmas and a Happy new year as well! 🎉 Even with everything can't wait to being the new projects for the next year! ☆♡☆♡
Happy holidays! 🎆
(♡likes and reblogs are very appreciated, thank you so much!♡)

In the digital art dep’t...
As a computer with better/faster graphics is (at long last!) on its way into the local workflow, I took some time last night to set up the the current graphics machine to do a quality-control test on one of the Middle Kingdoms characters.
It’d hardly be a surprise to anyone familiar with the platform that people who create characters for Daz Studio generally seem to spend more time on the skin quality of female characters than on males. This can leave the artist feeling a little concerned about what they’re likely to find if they zoom in too close on one of the male figures.
Still, it’s smart to do it at least once or twice to see what kind of results you get. In the case of the two figures I’ve been using for the main male MK characters -- the Leo 7 figure for Herewiss and the Gianni 7 figure for Freelorn -- I put this off for a while until several apps came along that allowed me to convert them to the more advanced Genesis 8 figure standard without (I seriously hoped) a lot of loss of fine detail.
After the conversion I used them both for months without any significant problems, but also without checking the “fine detail” end of things. Finally, though, last night, I thought “WTH, let’s run a really close render for a change and see how things look.” So (because it was handy) I grabbed the Daz file from which I’d generated Freelorn’s “backstory” image for the Steldene Honey-fried Apples recipe over at the Food And Cooking of the Middle Kingdoms site, added a new camera that would let me pick up close detail, pushed it in, and left the machine rendering it overnight.
...And found this waiting for me when I got up:
Tumblr media
...Seriously, I was worried for some reason? WTF. Look at this. (Enlarge it if you can. Right-clicking it might work.) (Or you can view these two images here and here, in full-screen resolution, at the MK site.)
Tumblr media
(helpless laughter) ...His pores are smaller than mine. I want to know where he’s getting his moisturizer.
...Now of course, nothing’s ever quite perfect. There’s still some work I could do on the figure’s eyes. But that can wait. Plainly, as far as this issue goes, I can leave it to one side and make better use of my time working out what happens when he has to [REDACTED] in TOTF3: The Librarian...

The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery
The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery from 1995 is the second Gabriel Knight adventure game, developed by Sierra and written and designed by Jane Jensen. The first was Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
The most obvious change from the first game is that the pixel art graphics style has been replaced with Full motion video using live action footage of actors against 3D backgrounds. Unlike pixel art graphic adventure games, this is not a style that has seen much of revival (partly because it’s expensive) and makes this game seem very much of its time. Many of the FMV games from the 90s craze for the medium are not beloved either.
I won’t lie and say The Beast Within looks great today. The FMVs have a low resolution and are very grainy, as do the sprites of the characters outside of it. There is some dodgy CGI too. The end result looks like a 90s tv show uploaded to youtube in low quality.
Yet The Beast Within is in my opinion one of the FMV games that stand the test of time. And that is both due to gameplay and story.
For one thing, it’s actually a fairly traditional point-and-click adventure game, except the cutscenes and the character sprites are live action footage of actual actors, instead of animations. The FMV craze sometimes took the form of “interactive movies” in the mode of Dragon’s Lair, and didn’t have much actual gameplay. But The Beast Within is a fully fledged adventure game.
And it’s a good one. There is some pixel-hunting, but much less so than the first game, because this time the cursor changes to indicate an interactable hotspot. There are no complex system of verb commands either. The puzzles felt largely fair and reasonable, and I didn’t have to rely on hints much. And as far as I can tell, there are no dead-ends. There are sequences where you can die, but you are given the option to retry them from a checkpoint with no penalty. As far as gameplay goes, this is a pretty good adventure game that cuts down on the bullshit that especially Sierra perpetuated in the genre’s earlier days.
The story is the star in most adventure games, and this is no exception. I love the story of The Beast Within, despite its flaws.
It helps that the acting in the FMVs is far above the general reputation of FMV games. These actors are overall legit good and I don’t feel they hinder the story being told. If the acting is arguably bad sometimes it’s the good kind of “bad” acting: overacting. And it’s a gothic werewolf horror story, such camp fits the tone.
Tumblr media
The game of course stars Gabriel Knight once again. He is now living in the castle of his ancestors, the Ritter family, in Bavaria. And he gets asked by the locals to investigate a series of murders, that seem to be committed by a werewolf. This being a horror game, it’s of course actually a werewolf. Once his friend Grace Nakimura learns about this, she decides to fly over to Bavaria from New Orleans to help, against Gabriel’s wishes. Grace is a playable character now, alternating with Gabriel. They conduct parallel investigations into the werewolf case.
Gabriel tries to find the werewolf killer in the present, and investigates the murders to find the killer. While Grace investigates the past, doing mainly historical research that she hopes will help identify the present-day werewolf.
It’s interesting how this game handles the idea of two American investigators working in a country in which they don’t entirely understand the language. Most of the game’s dialogue is in english, but there is a surprising amount of german. More than you expect from an American production. They got a translator to translate relevant dialogue by Jane Jensen into German, so it’s understandable. And especially with Gabriel, who barely knows any german (Grace has more basic knowledge and can form sentences), you get the sense of them being in a foreign country. They come across educated and/or younger people that speak fluent English, other german characters don’t and they’re stuck trying to figure it out. The pronunciation by the actors is however variable and heavily depends on the actor. Some are actual germans or have basic pronunciation knowledge, some clearly don’t. I appreciate the effort though, which does give some versmillitude to the game’s setting.
The roles of Gabriel and Grace have been recast. A decision which I understand. The original Gabriel Knight voice, Tim Curry doesn’t look anything like Gabriel Knight, even if his voice is the definitive one. And Leah Remini is not Japanese-American, like Grace is.
And the new actors give different takes, but ones which largely work. Dean Erickson plays a more awkward and less confident Gabriel than Curry’s in the first game. Perhaps he is humbled by his past experiences, and he is clearly not entirely comfortable in this new country in which he does not speak the language. It’s surprisingly endearing.
Tumblr media
Joanne Takahashi as Grace is also fine. She is more let down by the writing than her actual acting skills. She is likeable enough, Grace is still the charismatic character I loved in the first game. But there is some really awkward character writing for her in a vain attempt to further the Gabriel/Grace relationship. It’s meant to be bickering friends who secretly love each other. And she is this tsundere character who says she hates Gabriel but actually loves him, and proves it by going to great lengths to help him.
But Gabriel and Grace don’t interact much in this game. Gabriel deliberately keeps her distant from his investigation and later justifies it with wanting to protect her, and it’s just annoying as she clearly could be very helpful to him. Grace on her part has this truly embarrassing bitchy jealousy drama with Gerde, a woman who Grace thinks is having sex with Gabriel but she actually isn’t. It’s pointless and the worst part of this game’s writing by far.
Yet there are far more interesting parts of this game’s writing that make me actually love it.
I’m gonna spoil the reveal of who the werewolf is, because it’s obvious from the moment the character enters the story. The story saves the reveal for the beginning of chapter 6, the game’s final chapter, but it’s obvious from the get-go. And I need to reveal it to discuss Gabriel’s storyline properly.
It’s Friedrich von Glower, the leader of an aristocratic hunting club. He is very well played by actor Peter Lucas. He portrays him with both charm and menace, and his dark-haired features are perfect for the part. He is a charismatic presence that dominates the game. The performance does however make it very obvious that he is a werewolf. Yet he is a fascinating character, and a large part of what makes this game so appealing.
Werewolves in this game are immortal. They can be killed, but can live on for centuries otherwise. Grace’s research reveals his extensive backstory stretching back to the 1700s. In the present day, Von Glower has used his experiences as a werewolf to develop a pseudo-darwinian philosophy about how humans will become stronger by getting in touch with their basic animal instincts that modern civilization suppresses. The members of his hunting club are all rich and basically use this philosophy to become better capitalists or lawyers by being ruthless in their actions. It’s a perfect ideology for these rich people, as it justifies them doing terrible things to earn more money.
Yet that’s not the purpose of the philosophy for Von Glower. He is lonely as an immortal werewolf. He wants a companion to join him, and has tried throughout the centuries to find that person. It’s clearly not just friendship he is after, it is romantic and sexual companionship. He is also either gay or bi, and tries to find that companion in other men. The purpose of the club with its philosophy is to prepare a person to be turned by Von Glower and become his werewolf companion.
Grace’s research into his past reveal that he once loved and turned the king of Bavaria Ludwig II. This lead to Ludwig’s suicide after over a decade of suffering.
Once von Glower meets Gabriel, it is love at first sight. He is overly friendly to Gabriel considering they just met and is clearly flirtatious. It’s obvious that he has designs upon Gabriel. And Gabriel seems to genuinely return his affections in some way, even if it is not as openly erotic as it is from von Glower’s side. Gabriel at least is receptive to his flirting. It’s perhaps platonic, but he clearly quickly comes to trust von Glower. Von Glower is obviously a sinister werewolf from the minute he enters the story, yet Gabriel seems oblivious. Is he in love? Maybe.
There is also Von Zell, who was the sole member of Von Glower’s hunting club that he choose to turn. Yet he was dumped by Von Glower after Von Zell’s turned out too violent and strange for Friedrich’s tastes. Now he plays the role of the bitter ex-boyfriend, fiercely jealous of Gabriel.
The Gabriel/Friedrich love story speaks to the themes of the series very well. Gabriel’s story in the first game was about his struggle with his baser instincts. He starts as a lust-driven womanizer, and he has to develop into a “schattenjäger”, a brave fighter against supernatural evil. And now von Glower represents a new temptation for Gabriel to abandon his duty to fight against evil and fall back into his lust-driven ways. Werewolves is a good fit for that kind of themes. Except, the temptation is queer this time around.
This type of story is of course homophobic on some level. The queer character is a villain who must die in the ending. Yet Von Glower is somewhat sympathetic in his loneliness and his feelings for Gabriel seem to be genuine. He is a complex villain, and the relationship between him and Gabriel is complex and engaging. It’s no more homophobic than your average queer monster horror story, and us queer folk often appreciate those despite their flaws.
And this is a story that speaks to me beyond the queer themes. I love German history. And you get to dig into it in this game. In the first game, Grace’s function is that she would do research on Gabriel’s request and then present her findings the next day. And now that you get to play as her, you get to do that research yourself.
I’ll grant that other people might find her parts of the game exposition-heavy. It’s literally reading book chapters at some points or interviewing people for more exposition. But I find werewolves and the Bavarian king Ludwig II to be fascinating subjects. So I was greatly entertained by all this. It’s part of why I found this game’s story so rich.
Ludwig II was gay or bi in real life, and so it makes sense tying him into this game with a bisexual werewolf (who was Ludwig’s boyfriend and who turned the king), as silly as that sounds. It works. His struggles with being turned into a werewolf by von Glower ends up being mirrored by Gabriel’s relationship with von Glower in the present day.
And the game includes the other fascinating bits of Ludwig’s life, such as his extravagant castles and his relations with Richard Wagner. The game lets you explore Neuschwanstein and try to find the score for a lost opera by Wagner concerning werewolves. It’s so fun if you are interested like I am. And you get to hear parts of that fictional opera and the composer Robert Holmes does do a decent Wagner imitation, albeit with a synthesized orchestra. The music overall is good, but it stands in the shadow of this fake Wagner opera. It’s so many interests of mine converging at once.
That is why I love The Beast Within. It is not a perfect video game. The game’s writing and presentation is definitely flawed. Yet there are many virtues. It’s a solid point-and-click adventure that tells a campy but well-written queer werewolf story that takes on German history and culture in an intelligent way.

Thank you for the streaming links! Any chance you know where we can watch it after the fact while we wait for it to show up on the cw website?
hi anon!!
yes yes i do cuz you see i don't have a social life and have perfected the art of legally pirating so:
site number 1: flixtor.to
the best site by far to watch shows and movies is flixtor.to. It's free, has zero ads, HD quality & subtitles. Only catch is that they have limited capaity on their servers so when it's a lot of traffic, as a non-paying visitor of the site, you won't get access until it's slower traffic again. Additionally movies older than 6 months and episodes of TV series older than 3 months are only available to VIP users (paying customers)
Site number 2: lookmovie2.to
it's the second best site i've found. HD quality (you just gotta use the gear at the bottom right corner to change the image resolution from 480p to HD), has tons of subtitles & is also free. Has a bunch of older shows as well and movies as well. Downside is that before you can watch an episode you get a pop-up, you just gotta click on the red x a bunchhhhh of times. like not kidding click on it 10 times or so. but after that you're good to go! I'm using it right now to watch Grimm
site number 3: ev01.to
HD/good quality, free, subtitles, tons of stuff. does have pop-up ads tho but that's the price you pay for free streaming. also has multiple servers so if one doesn't work you can try out another unlike website 1 & 2
site number 4: sflix.to
HD/good quality, tons of stuff & free. does have pop-up ads but it also has several different streaming servers unlike website 1 & 2 so if one server doesn't work you can use the other ones.
i've got a whole bunch more but i've only ever needed three sites to find the movies and shows i was looking for so you should be good with these.
new episodes will appear on these sites between 1-3 hours after they've aired for the first time. it can sometimes take longer but that's generally about how fast it appears on the site.
now as far as i know, streaming movies and series is still completely legal. hosting a site that streams it isn't and downloading isn't either but streaming a video is as far as i'm aware when i did my homework two-three years ago. i'm from europe (not germany tho cuz they're very strict) and so i did my homework focussed on the laws in europe but as far as i know streaming videos is universally still allowed.
to be extra safe tho i recommend using a vpn. i have lantern & protonvpn both are free which is why i use them and people will say not to use free vpns but i'm a cheapskate so it is what it is. VPNs are also still legal to use although i know that in countries like the philippines there was i think talk of banning them? so if you're in a country with a government that comes down hard on its citizens when it comes to internet access, i'd look it up to be safe.
if you don't wanna use a VPN an even better option is using Tor Browser which is also free. It's a search engine like safari, google chrome etc. but it was developed by the military like decades ago i believe and then was made public and it's now one of the browsers that journalists who want to hide their tracks from the government use. it's completely legal to use and it basically works as a browser that reroutes your IP address through 5 different "VPNs" but again if you're from a country with an authoritarian regime google if you can use it because China and Russia have banned Tor. To be really really really safe you should combine Tor and a VPN but either also works well.
hope this helps and if you have any more questions, shoot me an (anonymous) message!
PS: If you can do watch the winchesters live or watch it on the cw app the next day, which you can also access using a VPN with a US server because all of that helps the ratings of the winchesters!!

signal desktop developer tools
There it sits: the shiny new high-definition monitor that all you picked up for a killer reasonable price. signal desktop Crack Full Version pull out your laptop with hopes for sharp, hi-res graphics dancing through your head, in order to realize your laptop merely has a VGA out dock. You could always get a VGA to DVI adapter, but with only an analog signal, what happens about photographs quality? The resolution? The definition? Without the digital, what is the point? The video to VHF converters are on hand at virtually any electronics store or Radio Shack. However you additionally be connect laptop computer directly with computer monitor via the VGA or any TV that comes with an S-video signal desktop source. Now if you receive the hosting software installed for the laptop, the CD+G discs have been ripped to MP3+G files on a hard drive, and possess imported the songs into the hosting software's database. All that's left is to touch base the laptop to the PA system and external monitor(s). Wireless networking is ever more and more commonplaces in homes that need to link together multiple PCs or share a web-based connection, but that would prefer not to run cable across their dwelling. 802.11g technology with transfers just as much as 54Mbps are now very affordable, too, making it a very practical selection for many. The newest factor so you can keep in mind is the digital features. Many low price gear now provide various digital effects like reverbs. Many impeccable premier effects are inbuilt. These effects are very beneficial for general depend on. They could work in a number large buildings with throughout one fuse box. Since it is other issue I can think of is they use up a plug socket in each location own one as the best speeds can't plug it into action lead. It has to be plugged directly in the plug outlet. Your computer network should now detect new devices within your network. That computer software should be installed to any and all your computers including your laptop. After that, check out Control Panel and click "devices and printers" to add it rrn your local cell tower network.

Vivaldi - Ontivero: Concerto No.2 'L'Estate' in G Minor Summer Presto (...
SUSCRIBITE! : http://goo.gl/IhqNaq English: Let's start detailing what has happened to me in this production: 1. The extra composition was quite fast, but I ran into the problem that my libraries didn't cover the full range of instruments imposed by Antonio Vivaldi, so I had to adapt everything and do various tricks to meet the demand who requested the work 2. Space problems with the PC, what I had to make a selection of everything installed and discriminate what really served me for work and what not, is that I have so many things that I do not fit in the 2 TB of space that the PC has and that only supports Windows 10 3. I had to do something not very common in the current mixing rules, so that the melody is noticed and not lost along the way, I had to mix a classical orchestra in MONO, as you know, classical orchestras are commonly mixed in STEREO, but this is not the case, it is mixed in mono and automated since the part of the metal band is so noisy that the classical orchestra covered me and it was not because of volume balances but because it is really noisy. 4. I had to record the same orchestra 4 times due to library problems and sounds that sounded really bad. I don't recommend Roland's sound banks if you want quality production. That's it, friends, I hope you like this production. So how are the images? I noticed that the Mark IV tends to air on the darker side during automatic light metering, giving images a deeper, more contrasty look than in the past. I always hate learning new button layouts, and here I was largely spared. Everything else is pretty much, thankfully, untouched from the older model. The photo/video switch dial is, oddly, inverted from the Mark III, but it’s not something you really notice unless you’re comparing bodies side by side. There is a new button occupying the space between the rear wheel and multi-angle thumb button that I have not quite figured out what it does yet, but it’s there.
Canon mark 5d ii pic review Pc#
This means the left side of the camera is significantly more spacious, with only the headphone jack, mic jack, PC cable port, mini HDMI and USB taking up that space. Minor body changes include moving the “Mark IV” lettering up from the bottom right of the camera to up under the “5D” designation to make room for the newly-placed remote trigger port. It just makes so much sense, and though the archaic menu system is still the same as it always has been, at least navigating it by touch is less frustrating than it has been in the past. Once you have it, you’ll wonder how you went so long without. The rear screen is big and bright, and the touch interface is responsive and totally useful. The touch screen is really nice, and it’s about time it made its way to the 5D line. It behaves exactly like you might hope, and anyone who has shot with Canon digital in the last 10 years will feel right at home with the 5D Mark IV.Īutofocus was reliable, fast and accurate, and I have high hopes that it will behave just as wonderfully as the 1DX Mark II, seeing as the autofocus system is taken right out of that excellent camera. It holds much like the the beloved 5D Mark III, but perhaps a bit lighter. Images were taken with either the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 or the 20mm f/1.4.įrom a handling standpoint, the camera feels great.

In this first impressions review, we’re going to look specifically at still image shooting and the shooting experience. For the last two years fans have been waiting for this camera (the realistic fans… the crazed ones have been expecting it for far longer), and now that it has arrived… mixed emotions are flying around from across the Canon faithful. Let's look at how the size of the Canon 5D MII's Full frame sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes. It’s really challenging to review a camera that has had so much hype and expectation behind it like the Canon 5D Mark IV has. You can find the details of their analysis of Canon 5D MII here. Canon 5D MII sensor has been tested by DxO Mark and got an overall score of 79 for its image quality. You can shoot at maximum resolution of 5616 x 3744 pixels with aspect ratios of and 3:2. Canon 5D MII has a 21.0MP Full frame (36 x 24 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Digic 4 processor.

[Image description: An Undertale chatbox with the name “Asgore” in the middle in uppercase, between two of his talksprites. The left one is smiling, with his brows lifted in surprise and an open mouth; the one on the right shows him smiling, too, but this time his mouth is closed. End of ID]
Asgore, the king of all monsters, sure is an interesting character. As we move on our journey as Frisk, we receive different opinions of him, both positive and negative. Now we will talk about what his fans have to say about him. He received a total of 73 votes, representing 2.8% of answers.
Asgore’s complex role in the story of Undertale is one of the aspects appreciated by his fans. Many have pointed out that Asgore is seen as an antagonist, but his soft attitude and kindness subverts their expectations of him. He is described as tragic, as a leader, as a kind man, and someone who’s made big mistakes. All of these elements help to make him an interesting character.
Now we will break down those layers, based on people’s answers:
Some of the responders manifested a desire for his character to be more appreciated. With statements like “he deserves more love/he is misunderstood.” A few manifested that they believe he gets a lot of hate in the fandom because of his actions. Therefore, they show their preference to Asgore as someone who deserved a better treatment, either by the game itself or by the fandom.
Many people praise his sense of responsibility and his wish to keep monsterkind hopeful by being a leader. “He was determined to find a way to help his people,” “He understands what he has to do and he shows signs of being upset about it.” It is important to mention that statements like this were often followed by highlighting how much of a burden said responsibility is. In other words, Asgore has a duty as a king and people believe he did his best for his people, even if many disapprove of the means Asgore used to obtain his goals. Many of his fans state that the weight he feels because of it makes him their favorite character.
The tragedy of the Dreemurr family is also mentioned in many responses. People lament what he has gone through, and the effect it had on him. He is described as someone who lost his family, but despite everything tried his best not to let people lose hope. His story is touching, and this is an aspect that has made people love this character.
Another group of people addressed Asgore’s appeal by highlighting his virtues and positive qualities. Many call him “soft”, “gentle” or “kind”. These comments are linked to the people that sympathize with him or who recognize the multiple layers of his character. Other people even state that they find him attractive or show interest in him as an ideal partner.
In short, Asgore “big soft goat dad” Dreemurr is loved for his complexity as a character, his tragedy, sense of responsibility and his many virtues. While his actions were not approved by many, people are able to sympathize with him and his story.
Highlights: (under the cut)
Asgore strikes me as someone who did what he believed was right when forced into a horrible situation. He was wrong, but it’s understandable how he could have come to believe that what he was doing was the only way forward. I feel like he gets ignored by most of the fandom compared to the rest of the cast and this disappoints me.
Big soft goat dad. Comfort man.
I just saw how under-appreciated he was. He has a pretty complex character and an interesting dynamic. I love the themes of loss, duty, and regret. He was referenced so many different ways that you didn't know what to expect when you actually met him. It took me a long time to realize how interesting he was, and I can't say he's the best character, but he's my personal favorite.
He was determined to find a way to help his people, and his overall story is just sad. Also he's a gentle goat dad so that's also something.
[Excerpt, read the full answer in the document.] I love him...he's built up so much throughout the game, in so many contradictory ways, long before you ever meet him. Initially, you probably go into the final area thinking he'll just be a standard boss encounter. [...], you expect that Asgore will still be vengeful and angry towards you, but I at least didn't blame him at all - how could I, after everything that happened? Even after an unprovoked war and their long, cruel imprisonment, Asgore was kind and forgiving enough to adopt a human child as his own. Sure, he finally snapped after the humans ALSO murdered his children, but how could anyone blame him for being angry after THAT? How long can anyone be expected to just lay down and take whatever their oppressors throw at them without trying to stand up and fight back? What do you do when you're only ever met with relentless violence? I could afford to die and come back as many times as it took to find a peaceful resolution, but that was because I could reset - other people didn't have that luxury.

[Image description: A wordcloud in the shape of Asgore’s smiling talksprite. His face and horns are colored white while his hair and crown are yellow. Some of the most visible words are: Asgore, Dad, Kill, King, Feel, Kind, Want, Big, Guy, and Love, which represent the most common words in the essays people wrote about him. End of ID]

All Tied Up
Word Count: 2479
Characters: England, France- FrUK
---
‘What the fuck are those?’
France sighed from where he was hanging up his clothes in his hotel wardrobe, ‘Good evening to you too. Why are you in my room, already, Arthur? I only arrived half an hour ago, couldn’t you let me exist without your presence for just a few moments more?’
He hadn’t heard him come in; France didn’t think he’d left the door to his hotel open. Although, England did have a bad habit of quietly entering places rather too well for his liking, ‘It’s bad enough that I will have to endure so much of you this week.’
‘Fuck off. I was hungry, so I came to see if you’d eaten.’
France turned back to his open suitcase for another shirt, ‘And?’
England frowned at him, ‘And?’
‘And,’ France prompted, slipping his favourite dress shirt onto a hanger. It was wrinkled; he hoped there was a decent iron here, ‘what were you going to do then?’
England huffed at him, as if, somehow, he France was being the difficult one, ‘And if you hadn’t, I was going to go with you.’
‘Could you not ask me to dinner like a normal person?’
England ignored him and nodded his head to the top of France’s temporary wardrobe, ‘Why have you got those?’
France followed his eyeline, stepping back when he couldn’t see anything. A few paces back and beside England he could see there, right at the back and on the top shelf of the wardrobe, were a pair of handcuffs.
‘Bit lewd for a week-long conference, init?’
France raised an eyebrow at him, ‘Do you really think I’d be that crass for those to be mine?’ England said nothing but his look became a lot more pointed. A beat of silence later and France shrugged, ‘Fine. But those ones are not.’
‘Of course.’
‘Why on earth would I lie about that.’
England shrugged, ‘Why do you do most of what you do? I never know.’
‘No, because you’re far too dim.’
‘Dim? Coming from the bellend who takes handcuffs to a NATO summit in Toronto.’
‘They’re not mine- what are you doing?’
England had moved around him and crossed the room towards the wardrobe and was now reaching up to the back to grab the handcuffs. France looked at them in his hands and then around his temporary room in distain, ‘I can’t stay here anymore, who knows what else they missed cleaning.’
France imagined that poor Canada was probably stressed enough as it was hosting this thing and likely didn’t need any additional work, but the idea of sleeping in a bed that might not have been changed was not something that appealed to him in the slightest. If the handcuffs were missed by the cleaners who knew what else they had failed to catch.
England tutted, ‘Don’t be such a baby.’
‘I hardly think me caring about my personal hygiene is me being a baby.’
‘You’ve slept in worse.’ England paused, ‘You’ve left worse.’
France opened his mouth to retort but England made an approving sound, opening the cuff wider, ‘These are pretty good quality, you know.’
France rolled his eyes, ‘Oh, and you would know.’ England turned them over and France sniffed, tucking his hair behind his ears, ‘Put those back, they’re probably filthy.’
‘No, I mean they look like they’re law enforcement rather than… well. Not.’
France stepped closer, ‘No look, they’re too flimsy.’ He pointed to the chain that connected the two cuffs, ‘and those are incredibly out of date- surely your police don’t still use these?’
England flushed, ‘Of course not! But I’ve seen a few of these about recently.’
‘Really? And how many decades ago was that? Twenty? Thirty?’
England waved a hand airily, ‘I don’t know, thereabouts maybe.’
‘You’re a fool.’
France made to take them from him but England pulled back sharply, ‘What are you doing?’
France blinked at his suspicious tone, ‘What are you doing? You’re not going to keep them, are you?’
‘No!’ England’s cheeks burned scarlet, ‘No of course not, but you reached for them so suddenly-‘
‘And what?’ France leant back and put a hand on his hip, ‘You thought I was attacking you?’
England scowled, ‘Well, it wouldn’t be the first time now, would it?’
‘Oh that is rich coming from you-‘
‘What’s that supposed to mean!’
‘You know full well what that means- look, just give them here.’ France lunged forwards, hoping to tug them out of England’s hands but England jumped away reflexively. Maybe he’d judged the angle wrong, or maybe England had tripped him somehow- either way France fell too sharply onto him and England gave a surprised yelp.
Click.
They froze, France with both hands balled in England’s shirt to keep him upright. One of them now had a shiny, very solid looking, handcuff around it.
They both stared at it in silence.
England gave a choked laugh and tried to cover it as a cough, ‘Francis, I swear I-‘
‘You arsehole!’
France shoved himself off and England held up his hands placatingly, ‘I swear I didn’t do that on purpose.’
‘Oh of course you didn’t!’ France held out his handcuffed arm out on front of him and shook it at England aggressively, ‘Take this off! Take it off right now!’
‘Okay okay, calm the fuck down, Jesus Christ.’
‘Calm? Calm? You tell me to be calm? I just got off a nine-hour flight only to be handcuffed by you of all people half an hour after I get in my fucking hotel? And you’re telling me to be calm?’
England, who had gone back to the wardrobe to feel about the top shelf, let out a soft, ‘ah’.
France laughed and shook his head, ‘No. No no, no don’t tell me there’s no key. Don’t you damn well dare.’
England, now that the initial shock of the situation had worn off, was clearly trying to hide that he was enjoying France’s predicament, ‘there’s no key.’
France threw a clothing hanger at him.
----
Two hours later, and things were no better.
France, (reasonably, he thought), refused to leave the room until the handcuffs were off and refused to let England leave the room until he’d fixed the problem that he’d created. England could agree that yes, maybe he had some part to play in all of this, but really it was France’s fault for lunging at him so suddenly and only agreed to stay if they ordered dinner first.
So, aside from a break to eat, France angrily chewing through a delivered meal he’d demanded England pay for in stony silence, they spent the time pulling apart the room and crawling to places France would never admit to crawling just in case the key had managed to slip down into some long-forgotten corner.
They’d both turned everything inside and out, upturning all of the drawers and taking off all of the bedding, but no luck. The wardrobe itself was fixed to the wall with no holes a key could have slipped through, so eventually France had to admit defeat and concede that there was no key to be found.
England, to his credit, did try to hold it together commendably well and had only let a euphoric grin slip through twice, both times of which he’d covered by burying his face behind something and pretending to cough until he’d smothered his glee enough to reappear with a blank expression. However, any time his eyes were caught by the glinting mental hideously shackled around France’s wrist, the corners of his mouth would twitch in a way that made France want to immediately wound him with the nearest blunt object.
Sadly for France, England was his best chance at getting him out of the current situation and so committing assault upon him was not the best resolution to his current troubles.
‘You’re going to have to do it,’ France said eventually after he’d finished rechecking a drawer England had already searched, (one could never be entirely sure that England was taking this seriously- being an almighty annoyance to France was one of his favourite pastimes, after all, and France didn’t want to assume the glimmer of remorse he had seen was genuine.)
‘Do what?’
‘Oh, don’t play the fool; get me out.’
England made a derisive noise, ‘Oh yes, sorry, let me just pull the key out of my ar-‘
‘No,’ France tutted at him and shifted through his suitcase to find his toiletry bag, ‘You may pretend to Australia that you do not know how to pick locks but we both know that you do¸ and seeing as there is no key and I am stuck here I’m sure you can pretend to forget that lie for just the moment.’
England snorted and took a hairpin that France offered him, ‘You have been watching far too many Hollywood films.’
France put a hand on a hip, ‘Can you do it or not.’
England bristled, ‘Of course I can. But hairpins like this aren’t exactly the bes-‘
France interrupted him with a shake of the wrist, ‘Do you see this still attached to me? I really do not care. Get me out.’
Muttering very gruesome sounding things under his breath, England pushed France down to sit on the bed and crouched before him, positioning France’s wrist upturned on his knees.
France nudged him gently with his foot and raised his eyebrows suggestively, ‘You didn’t have to handcuff me to get me here, you know.’
England swatted him away and looked at him in disgust, ‘Don’t you start.’ He bent apart the hairpin and worked it into the lock, twisting it slightly, ‘I wouldn’t want to anyway, you smell like plane.’
‘Oh! Oh, darling do tell me why that is. Hmm? Is it because I haven’t had the chance to shower yet, because I was attacked before I had even finished unpacking?’ He ran his free hand through England’s hair, ‘Why is this so long? Have you not had it cut since I last did it?’
England squinted at the handcuff and didn’t look up, ‘No, I’ve been busy.’ He twisted the hairpin and it made a very hopeful clicking sound, but nothing happened and England went back to jiggling it ever so slightly into different positions, ‘You can do it whilst we’re here.’
France huffed, ‘And what makes you think I can?’
‘You always take scissors with you.’
‘No, I meant what makes you think that I will.’ He brushed England’s fringe back from his forehead, measuring out its length between his fingers, ‘Just because I-‘
They both jumped, startled, as the door to France’s room burst open unexpectedly to reveal America in the doorway, ‘Yo Francis, we’re all going out to- what the fuck are you doing?!’
England’s head popped up and suddenly France could see all too clearly how this scene looked to America’s eyes: France, a fist buried in England’s hair and England crouched on his knees in front of him, head bent close to his lap.
England locked eyes with him, an expression of shock on his face, before flicking to America framed and frozen in the doorway. He held up a hand placatingly, ‘No it’s okay, they’re just handcuffs!’
‘Oh God!’ America clapped a hand over his eyes, ‘No way man, I do not wanna see that! Jesus, what is wrong with the both of you? Have you heard of locking the door?’
‘No!’ England stood up suddenly. He didn’t let go of the handcuff and the movement jerked up France’s arm roughly, causing him to give a cry of pain. England dropped his arm in horror, ‘It’s really not what it looks like.’
‘Okay, sure dude, whatever,’ still with his hand over his eyes, America backed away out into the corridor, ‘I’ll let everyone know you can’t come because you’re both occupied.’
‘No!’ France and England both shouted in unison but it was no use, America slammed the door and they could hear him running down the corridor in the direction of the stairs.
France sighed through his nose, ‘Well, that went well.’
----
England did eventually spring France loose. After turning off his phone and forcing France to silence his own and not touch it (they kept beeping, America worked fast at spreading the news) he managed to work his way into the lock after chewing it into more of a sharp point and bending it into ridiculous angles.
‘There you go, they can’t have been official handcuffs,’ France rubbed his wrist, relishing the feeling of the metal being gone, and picked up the handcuffs to turn them over, ‘police handcuffs wouldn’t be that easy to pick.’
England snorted and brushed down his trousers, ‘Or, maybe I’m rather good at it.’
France did pretend to politely consider this for a second, ‘Or, your police have never had quality handcuffs, which really does make your government’s further reduction of their budget particularly sad. What will they use next, cable ties?’
England scowled, ‘Is that any way to talk to someone who just freed you from handcuffs?’
‘Yes, if that same person put me in them.’
England gave a bark of laughter, ‘I’m sure you’ve done something recently to deserve it.’
France hmm’d and stood up to join him, ‘I’m glad your alternate reality entertains you.’ He stepped up to England, grabbing his wrist and tugging him closer with one hand before bringing the other to rest on the small of his back.
‘What are you-‘
France swiftly kissed him silent, bringing his hand from England’s wrist to cup the nape of his neck and press his thumb gently into the bones. He felt England relax, the tension from his shoulders loosening as he gave into it and France let him have the moment unspoilt for a while. Then, before England could react, with the other hand France pulled him closer, pressing them closer together, before removing it suddenly.
Click.
With a noise of outrage, England bit him, hard, on the lip and France pulled away with a grin as England furiously brought his hand up to reveal a shiny new bracelet.
France laughed, stepping back quickly lest he hit him, ‘There, now I know you have done something recently to deserve that.’
England recovered the distance, hands clenched at his sides, ‘Yes, but mine was a fucking accident!’
France shrugged lightly, ‘Well, it’s a good thing you’re rather good at breaking out of them, isn’t it?’
England pressed his lips together so tightly they went white and France smirked at him, ‘I’m going to have a shower, you entertain yourself there for a moment with that and then we can go out for a drink.’
England sat down with a huff and picked up the now very abused hairpin, ‘You’re paying.’
‘Maybe.’
‘And we’re avoiding the place everyone else is going to.’
‘Oh certainly.’

AN:
I was going to write something soft and sweet, or something more serious with a bit of detail, but this came out instead. I’m not mad about it, but I do wish I were able to stick to some sort of plan.
It made me chuckle writing it, so I hope you all enjoy!

Tumblr media
Hey guys! I got an ask wondering how I make my gifs and some people have asked me how I color my gifs, so here you go!
We’re going to be making this:
Tumblr media
You’ll need:
VLC Media Player
Photoshop with working Import Video Frames to Layers function and timeline. I use Photoshop 2020, but any older versions with these functions will work!
A high-quality video (preferably 1080p)
Tutorial under the cut!
PART ONE: MAKING YOUR GIFS
You’re going to want to open up your video in VLC Media Player and open it to around a few seconds before your scene appears. If you’re giffing from a small YouTube video you can ignore this step, but for movies and TV, you’ll want to use VLC to extract the tiny part of it you want.
Pause it before your scene and click View >> Advanced Controls.
Tumblr media
Above the play button, you should see a bunch of new controls. Focus on the red button I circled below:
Tumblr media
Click this button and press play. VLC records are a little bit off, so this is why you want to be a few seconds before your scene actually starts so you catch it all! When your scene has played, press the button again. You’ve now recorded your scene and you can record as many scenes as you like for a full gifset.
You can find your recorded videos in the Videos folder. It’ll be named something like vlc-record-a bunch of letters and numbers.
Now that you have your scenes, it’s time to open Photoshop! When Photoshop has loaded, go to File >> Import >> Video Frames to Layers, which is a bit down to the bottom. It’ll prompt you to select a video; click on the video you just recorded, and a screen like this will pop up:
Tumblr media
Use the white sliders to select the parameters of your scene. I would recommend going a little bit more on both sides so you catch your whole scene.
TIP: Make sure you do NOT select the button that says “Limit to Every 2 Frames,” because that will make your gifs look choppy and ugly. Love yourself!
Once your frames have loaded, you might not see them on Photoshop the way mine looks. If that’s the case, make sure you go to Window >> Timeline so you can see the frames!
Delete the extra frames in your gif that you don’t need by selecting the frames you want to delete and pressing the trash can button, circled below:
Tumblr media
Now that you’ve done that, it’s time to crop. For this particular gif, I’m going for a full-width one, so the width I chose is 540px and I chose a height of 290px. Click on the crop tool and make sure your crop settings are at W x H x Resolution, or you won’t be able to input specific dimensions the way I’ve done here:
Tumblr media
Position the crop tool where you want your gif to be:
Tumblr media
And now that your gif is all cropped and sized, it’s time to sharpen! I have a pretty specific sharpening process that I’ll outline in detail here, but I have an action for this purpose so as to save time. I’m just making this part of the tutorial so you know what you’re meant to do in Photoshop.
First, go ahead and click the three little bars at the right edge of the Timeline/Frames tab and hit Convert to Video Timeline.
Tumblr media
Now, your timeline should look like this:
Tumblr media
Go to Select >> All Layers, and right-click on one of the layers in the Layers tab once they’ve all been selected. Select Convert to Smart Object. This allows us to sharpen the entire gif at once as opposed to by frame! Your timeline should now look like this, with all the little purple parts condensed into one:
Tumblr media
It’s time to sharpen! Go to Filter >> Sharpen >> Smart Sharpen. I do two passes with the Sharpening tool; here are my settings for both:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not too apparent in the pictures, but it does make a difference. Don’t worry about your gifs looking too sharp; I use this action on every single one of my gifs and it always works like a charm.
Now that our gifs are nice and sharp, it’s time to take them back to frames. This is because of a glitch in Photoshop that makes gifs saved in Smart Object form much faster than they would be in frames. Click on the small bars on the right of the timeline again and select Convert Frames >> Flatten Frames into Clips.
Tumblr media
Your gif should have all those little clips that we had before we converted it into a Smart Object.
Then, go to Convert Frames >> Convert to Frame Animation.
Tumblr media
Your gif should be back in frames again, but it’s all one frame. Don’t worry; we’re going to fix that by clicking Make Frames from Layers from the menu with the three little bars again.
Tumblr media
Now all your frames should be back! We’re going to set the speed of the gif now. Hit those three little bars again and click Select All Frames. Now click on the little triangle under any frame and click Other, and a little popup will appear. I always set my gifs to a speed of 0.05.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, I save my gifs as a .PSD file. You can delete these PSDS after you’ve posted your gifset (I usually do to save space!), but it helps to have them so you can edit your gifs later if you want. Hit Ctrl+S, and now the screen to save it should pop up. Make sure you save it as a PSD file and not something else.
Tumblr media
Now you have a gif that you can color! Which brings us to…
PART TWO: COLORING, ADDING SUBTITLES, AND SAVING YOUR GIFS
I do run a pale blog so this is going to be a pale coloring tutorial. You can check some popular resource blogs to see if they have any tutorials for colorful gifs!
I start out by making a group with the little folder below the layers tab; I title it “coloring.” (Not pictured: I added a layer mask and painted one black dot over it so I could reference the original!)
Tumblr media
I always start out with a Curves layer; here are my settings:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The gif at this point:
Tumblr media
Next, I decrease saturation using the Hue/Saturation adjustment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this, I add a black and white Gradient Map layer and set it to blend mode Exclusion at 10% Opacity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, (not pictured), I add a Selective Color layer and reduce blacks in Whites and Neutrals while increasing them in Blacks.
To make the background pale, I added a Hue/Sat layer, applying 100% Lightness to the Cyan and Blue channels and adding color to Azula’s skin by saturating the Yellows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the gif after those adjustments:
Tumblr media
Now I’m going to restore color to Azula’s skin following my own tutorial, so I’m not going to go into those details here. However, here’s the gif after all this. It’s not totally the same as Azula’s skin, but going any pinker makes the gif look awkward and oversaturated, which isn’t a good look:
Tumblr media
After some minor adjustments and removal of the layer mask:
Tumblr media
Now for subtitles!
Use the Text tool and make a rectangle at the bottom of your gif where subtitles go. I use Arial Rounded MT Bold, with Regular style, at 3.36pt and Sharp anti-aliasing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Create a rectangle at the bottom of the gif where subtitles go and type in your text; then right-click on the text layer and select Blending Options and check Stroke, and these are my settings:
Tumblr media
Now your subtitles are all ready! I’d recommend duplicating one frame of the gif and then duplicating the text layer onto a new canvas and saving it as a PSD so your settings and placement are always consistent across your gifsets!
Time to save your gif. Here are my settings, circled ones important:
Tumblr media
I’ve seen gifmakers use Adaptive+Pattern but I personally think that looks grainier and the pattern is really obvious; in my opinion Selective+Diffusion looks smoother, but it’s all up to you! Experiment with what you think looks best.
Make sure your gifs are set to loop Forever or they’ll only loop a limited amount.
Here’s your finished gif!
Tumblr media
I hope this tutorial was helpful! Please reblog this if you learned something, and I hope you have a wonderful day. Happy gifmaking ❤

Jason sent me an email. It's below, under the cut, along with my reply to him.
Hi Daniel,
I closed the thread for two reasons: because I had other obligations to deal with, and because I wanted answers to my questions from someone that was actually engaging with it.
Backing up, though, I really don't understand the hostility and vitriol you're spewing in my direction. Like, it is so disproportionate that it's incomprehensible.
Considering that vitriol, I'm hoping that we can have a private conversation so that I can better understand your position.
Thank you for making a pass at answering my questions on Tumblr, but I have some counter points.
Purchasing a digital item gives you access to a form of that item that others, who did not purchase said item, do not legally have.
How is this different from an NFT? You're buying the form of the token that gives you the legal right to that item. What's more, you have the legal right to sell that item, whereas if you "buy" a wallpaper, you're actually just licensing it for private use. You're not allowed to resell it next year, when you don't want it anymore.
if I want to buy a digital wallpaper, the seller will then provide me with a full resolution of the image, that I could not, legally obtain otherwise.
And an NFT seller provides you with a token. Are you saying that it's the resolution that makes a wallpaper acceptable and an NFT not? By which I mean, the fact that the art is available on the web makes selling the rights to that art unacceptable?
Which leads me onto your second point:
NFT is not the same as DRM.
Functionally, I disagree. An NFT is a DRM: it manages the digital rights to a thing.
When you purchase NFT you get bragging rights. You get to say you paid money for an online picture that was not created specifically for you and was made only to be sold as a sort of internet trading card. You're allowed to transfer the link to the image into your own NFT wallet. That's it. Everyone else can see the NFT. Everyone else can right click and save the image. You get to brag you paid money for the image.
And that's bad because...?
For example, I could imagine that under the image on the credits page of our games, it might say:"The NFT of this art is owned by Scurvy Danny," letting the world know that you had specifically financially supported the artist.
DRM limits the way a person can interact with digital media. A DRM will check if your copy of a game was legally purchased and stop you from using it if it detects, well, many things.
Well, I could certainly image a world in which, if you bought the NFT for the, say, Werewolves: Haven Rising art, whenever you opened your omnibus app and looked at the art, you'd get some sort of special effect inside the app that would be facilitated by the ownership of the NFT. By owning the NFT, you'd have the right to that special effect. That sounds like DRM to me. Everyone that didn't own the NFT wouldn't (legally) be able to view that special effect.
Now, hold up, I hear you cry, but what if you don't pay for a specific quality of an image? What if you just pay for a commission and that commission is then posted to the artist's gallery anyway, for everyone to see? That's exactly how you said paying for an NFT is!
Well, as someone who does that type of work, I'm happy to explain.
When you commission an artist, they create a bespoke image for you, that they would not have created otherwise. And often you will get a higher res version compared to what is posted in the artist's gallery, but if you don't, you still didn't just pay for your name to be attached to an image everyone else can access. You paid for the service of the artist creating a digital image that they wouldn't make if you never paid them. You paid for the time they spent creating something that caters specifically to you.
I'm talking here about selling NFTs of the art that we've already commissioned. So, again, taking the Werewolves: Haven Rising example, we'd sell the NFT of that.
In this instance, the buyer would get their name attached to the piece of art, yes. And the artist would get paid for work that they've already done.
I really don't understand what's offensive about that. That someone's paying to have their name attached to the piece of art that wasn't created specifically for them? That the artist is getting paid for doing nothing?
There are of course other ways artists can make money from already created digital content. Prints are a good example, but of course Jason already said how bad that is for the environment compared to XRPL, because oh no, you're using paper and ink! That's a higher carbon footprint than XRPL!
Yes! If the argument against NFTs is the fact that they have a carbon footprint, you have to make a comparison to what the alternatives are. If the alternatives have a larger carbon footprint, then the argument is negated.
So is buying a new sweater that I technically didn't need but I did it anyway because individual people decreasing their own carbon footprint to zero wouldn't be enough to stop, let alone reverse global warming, what we need to do is force the top polluters (corporations) to stop fucking polluting
I'm aware of all these things, but other people keep arguing in the thread that cryptos are untouchable because of the carbon costs. So, whatever point you're trying to make about NFTs is lost to me here. The best I can glean is that you're saying that NFTs on the XRPL don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
and besides, we've already been thru this, the carbon footprint of the NFT isn't what's actually the most concerning thing about them in this case.
But, again, I don't understand what is concerning.
You can make prints and zines of your work with small and medium printers that you trust. I know MANY artists that do this, that do not employ print on demand corporations specifically because of their sketchy practices, and they're doing fine.
But then someone would have to make those prints, warehouse them, inventory them, and account for them. That's a whole investment of capital and/or hiring someone. It would also take a lot of time. And, unless the print run was huge—which would be a large financial risk for us—the artist themself would probably make less money than with an NFT sale.
Specifically, making prints and zines isn't our business. We don't know anything about that business. I don't want to start a new business completely unrelated to interactive novels.
And, to top it all off, it would have a significantly greater carbon impact than an XRPL NFT.
But another option many furry artists are already screaming at me about is selling adopts. You create a character, design them, often even write a whole backstory, and then put them up for sale. It is a digital collector's item that's existed long before crypto. You can then use the character however you like, you gain all rights to the character and can legally roleplay as them, put them in your book, comic, whatever you want. And many people just collect them. And we didn't need NFT for it.
I'm happy that you have "adopts," but I don't see what the relevance is. That the furry community is small enough that the social pressure/shame of using someone else's adopt prevents unauthorized use? I don't get the point of comparison.
But that doesn't allow for a middle man, so I don't think that option would work here, because CoG and Jason want something they can take a percentage off of.
Two things about this. The first is that artists have tried to exploit their artwork that they did on their own, and it failed miserably. They don't have the marketing reach that we do. Secondly, it's the games that we publish that give these artworks significant context. As cover art, the art is in dialogue with the work, which we produced. So, should we get a cut? Absolutely.
In particular, by making a whole collection of NFTs, they collectively give each other value. An individual artist trying to make one of these works into an NFT and selling it has much less contextual value. (The "collectable cards" analogy.)
Remember, this art is not being commercially exploited right now. I'm trying to get money to the artist from work they've already done.
Yes, artists can have other venues of getting money off their old art already. But the way you wrote about it in the thread made it clear you specifically want to be the one facilitating it.
Yes! Because they won't make any significant money off of it themselves! If we do it, they'll make more money. And they won't have to do any of the work!
The problem is, Jason, we don't need you to make money. But you need us. You need your authors. CoG will not exist if every writer decides to move to another venue, use twine, RPG maker, or hell, learn Python or HTML and code their own game from scratch. You have no idea how motivating to learn spite is, and what you're doing now is making a lot of people want to show they don't need you and your crypto bullshit simply out of spite.
Again, I don't understand this spite. What have I done that is deserving of spite? I've suggested a method to create a carbon-lite source of periodically recurring revenue for our artists on top of the payment we already make for generating the work. Why is that spite-inducing?
Regards,
-Jason
My reply:
You either do not understand what an nft is (nothing, it's nothing, it's like you buy a cake but all you get to take home is the receipt, except you were made to believe you own the cake, how many more ways can i explain this) or you believe I can be convinced if you just keep explaining why being a middleman who does nothing is good actually.
I'm almost 40. I have worked in education and finance all my adult life. Two things required of me, always, were research and due diligence. You're not going to convince me a scam is not a scam. If every MLM currently operating in my country couldn't, neither will you.
You seem to want to feel like what you do is some form of service for people on your platform and it is. Allowing people faster and easier access to sell their games is a useful service. But it's not as useful as you think it is. It's certainly not "people will overlook us getting involved with something that's been proven a scam over and over" important.
No, buying bragging rights to an image that you have no proof was even made by the artist (as the many nfts sold have been outright stolen) is not the same as sending the artist cash on ko-fi or Patreon. Support via Patreon will get me bragging rights and a shout-out too and it will let the artist keep a lot more money.
There won't be fees they'd have to pay to mint an nft.
There won't be fees they'd pay for purchasing the crypto to mint the nft.
There won't be fees for converting the crypto back to cash.
The value of what they earned won't drastically change day to day.
The money will actually mostly profit the artist and not a third party.
And you admitted you want to be that third party because you believe without you artists cannot prosper.
Except they do.
Yes, some great authors got their foot in thru CoG. Chris Huang would probably be my first example as he is now a successful author. But the fact he started with your company is superficial. He could have started with someone else. He could have paid his own entry fee to Steam and done it himself. I don't use your platform to promote my art and i know for a fact I earned more this year from my art than many of your writers. And all I got is a Twitter account and word of mouth.
You pay them ~17% (25% if what's left after steam takes their 30% iirc) of the game price in the end.
I know people who earn more from putting their game on itch.io and doing almost no advertising. You provide a service, yes, but it's not essential.
The way you dismissed every argument your writers had for you on why they don't want CoG anywhere near nfts is disheartening. Just exactly what do you plan to sell when your writers and artists leave?
And you also had the nerve to say you want to let artists get paid without them doing no work?
They do all the work, Jason. They code the games they draw the art, they test and edit and gather feedback, you don't even provide beta testers, your writers organize all that. Most I know don't even do it through your forum anymore (citing you as the reason they don't use it by the way) and advertise on unofficial discords and Tumblr.
Your engine isn't even the superior if interactive fiction engines at this point anymore, not with so many other free options out there that don't require users to align their art with one specific publisher to use them.
I don't have vitriol towards you, Jason. I don't even have spite because I never even published with you, only played games from your platform. I do have a lot of disgust though. You genuinely disgust me at this point, for your causal dismissal of actual issues, your lack of concern for people who rely on your platform and whom you need to produce your profit and for your delusions about how important to them you are.
And don't start with "but this isn't different from how you would earn money in other commission based jobs" I know it's not.
I think commission based pay is disgusting, i think the way publishing in general is structured is disgusting and I'm glad it's becoming more and more obsolete by the day.
I plan to make your delusional reply public as well so if you hoped to keep this hidden by sending an email, tough. You're the owner of a public publishing company, you're in a position of power, I'm a forum user who tried to give people info and got accused of harassment for it.
Good luck with your scam currency.
