it is so interesting to me that myungha‘s proof (i guess?) of the king‘s evil wicked ways is that he killed his father in front of him without warning. im sorry but this guy was staging a coup? killing him was certainly a bit much but just as certainly not unheard of. he literally based his justification on false claims from untrustworthy persons, his son forged crucial evidence to support falsified rumors and justify their party taking power. they were part of a conspiracy against great prince jinhan that founded all their claims (every! single! one!) on hearsay, false and fake rumours, made up facts, bad people skills, and lust for power. i understand that seeing your parent killed in front of u fucks u up but its not as if it came out of nowhere? is myungha stupid?

What are some other hairstyles you imaging the group in? Any fun ones that Hunter tried (or was forced into by Willow, Amity, etc) as his hair got longer?
THIS IS A LONG ONE (with art) SO I'M PUTTING IT UNDER A READ MORE! :)
Tumblr media
first of all I think GUS would be the one with the most hairstyles, hats and drip in general - he loves the human world's culture and their way of using fashion to express themselves uniquely - including hair. I mean, he also has curly hair. So he would have durag styles, various protection styles, twists and braids. And, because his hair curls, he could vary between long and shorter styles.
I also think Gus would have styles that are more typically "feminine" too, as he is very gender-non-conforming in the crew's art of him.
Though, I will say, it works for Gus in-canon that he only keeps one style at first (narratively speaking, not realistic haircare - I think?) because then that would emphasise his time in the human realm later on to be an important developing arc for him (assuming they would actually give him various styles, as indicative of the bits we got of him in episode 1.)
I think, had season 3 happened, we would have gotten a more vibrant Gus. He wants to be an ambassador, he loves the human realm, whom else than GUS to be the one to have an arc where he explores and embodies the full-on SELFEXPRESSION!
Fashion and hair is a way to express the uniqueness of yourself. If Luz' wish as the main character is to be understood, then the (positive) characters around her will (one way or another) embody different lessons for that theme. Gus: Self-expression. (Fashion, style, hair, charisma) Hunter: Identity. (Confidence, self-love, self-respect) Willow: Inner self. (Vulnerability, self-care, self-acceptance) Amity: Outer self. (Presentation of your truth, pride of oneself.) Vee: Voice. (Standing up for yourself, perseverance) Camila: Support. (Union of group, accepting and giving love)
And I think their fashions/hair aka - character designs would reflect these various things!
On a more fun note I think the only reason Hunter could pull off his own unique style is because Gus helps him combine them properly.
Tumblr media
Hunter really said dollhouse fairycore and Gus ran with it.
Tumblr media
AMITY: Basic styles, probably thinking of her siblings to feel closer to them. Especially Emira's hairstyles. :) I think, because her mom was so controlling of how her hair presented, I think Amity moves away from doing too much with it and rather let it be adventurous and free.
Tumblr media
WILLOW: Lots of braids and pigtails. I think she likes to have practical hairstyles as well as more "gentle" ones. The practical ones to reflect her jock-side, and the lose ones to reflect her more gentile and sensitive side! :)
<3
HUNTER: I think just keeps his in a ponytail or (as in the canon) just loose and shaggy without much care. Showing his early stages of being a blank slate. Just let things have it's course to see what "grows" from it, y'know? And then he gets his iconic haircut scene and literally "starts over" with a new arc. :)
<3
I think LUZ just keeps her iconic style that she's had through the show, with the additional tiny low-pinned ponytail that makes her look like a rouge adventurer! Kinda like Amity. I also think Luz hair grows a bit more wavy the longer it gets! :)
<3
VEE is also someone who goes through the most changes, but in her body and face rather than fashion. I think her style would be of the alternative side, perhaps a bit of a concert-kid vibe and basic comfy stuff. She's visually been shown to have the opposite expressions of Luz, quite literally being from opposite realms and having opposite personalities. Where Luz felt hopeful Vee was quick to give up. Our basilisk girl also seem to fit in more with the human realm, enjoying being a normie - after all, her life wasn't normal up till that point. So it makes sense for her to seek it and even find her safety in her own baseline.
BUT YEAH!
I THINK THAT'S IT????
ENJOY MY THOUGHTS.

So what I learned about myself by researching these topics about abuse, collected from experts and therapists who work with complex trauma patients:
Betrayal Trauma is the name of what I went through in my household
Scapegoats are often betrayed by parents and I fit the scapegoat role
Scapegoats are often “truth tellers” and fight the family narrative
Scapegoats can be betrayed by one family member OR they can be betrayed by the whole family in which the family narrative is “we are all okay and right, and you (the scapegoat) is the crazy/wrong one.”
Scapegoats often have DARVO used against them (when the abusers in the family call the scapegoat the abuser, and the real abusers/parents call themselves the victims)
Scapegoat may feel betrayed, rejected, shamed, become a people pleaser, overly forgiving, may avoid relationships and end up isolating yourself from others
Some become dependent on the abusive family as an adult, slow to get ahead in life
Toxic shame is not just feeling ashamed, but YOU ARE shame (not really true, your brain lies to you). You think You Are Shame walking around on 2 legs. (How I feel and doing my research I understand it’s the trauma brain talking but I genuinely believe the lies). “I feel humiliated when I speak in front of others” “I feel humiliated for existing and taking space”
You could have had a fight response, challenge the abusers distorted, twisted view of reality. It causes exhaustion from challenging the family false narrative growing up. You may identify with being the “fighter.”
Family Systems expert Rebecca C. Mandeville explains adult survivors of Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) are impacted by Betrayal Trauma. She also explains the consequences of being rejected, shamed, and blamed by the people who were supposed to love and care for you the most.

love isn't enough
a/n: this is a repost bc i wanted to add more but you know me ‼️ writer's block and all that so it might just be kinda bad bc it's just been sitting in my drafts. also lmk if i missed a name bc i wrote this for sana originally
jihyo x gender neutral reader
angst
Tumblr media
love is a fickle thing.
it's not the classic fairy tale sappiness nor is it the unbreakable bond people make it out to be in the movies. in reality, it's malleable. it's a sick and twisted thing, almost always used to hurt you. and maybe you don't notice it yet, but you will and when you do, it will tear your heart in two. it'll tear you piece by piece until all that's left is your cracked and broken psyche, afraid to love again. afraid to open up. afraid to be vulnerable.
and you know because that's what jihyo did to you.
it began with the promise of forever. with the stars by your side, and her hands interlocked with yours. they seemed to never let go, like she couldn't even imagine it. it was a distant, far-off thought that she couldn't possibly think of no matter what she did because then and only then, was she simply and truly in love with you.
you imagined it so when you stared in her eyes, the feelings she had for you so potent, you could almost see it bubble and rise up to the top. she kissed you then, and it was the only thing you could think of.
i'm only yours, she said and you believed it. because it was the truth but you should've known it wouldn't last. her love was already beginning to break. you weren't capable of keeping its shape.
her love began to twist, warping into whatever fit her narrative. the narrative of you and her. the narrative of why she was out for hours on end. the narrative of who the other girl was. just a friend, she would say.
but that's not to say she was the only one at fault because somewhere within you, you knew that whatever you felt was truly already broken. you just hadn't come to terms with it yet.
your love began distorting into the perfect mold for her. one that was so easily breakable and fixable again. one that jihyo could mold to her needs.
you love me, right? she would ask. and it's an attrocious word. love. it's a word that holds so much meaning over you and yet none at all when she leaves you alone in the night. she could've used that word with anyone else when she's laying in their bed, in their clothes, and whispering their name. and yet she can say she loves you the same.
it's disgusting and it's ironic.
you don't know why you didn't bring it up sooner when it was always an inch away, curdled up under the sheets, murmuring someone else's name. you don't know why you didn't bring it up sooner when her tone changed, that airy lightness replaced with a heavy guilt despite the continuous hurt she still brings you. you don't know why you didn't bring it up when your heart began to crack and she heard every bit fall to the ground.
you don't know why you stayed.
but maybe it was the way she promised you that fateful day that still holds something over you. forever. forever is a long time. time that you imagined jihyo would spend with you but she wouldn't. she couldn't. her love wouldn't allow it. it would rope her along, sweeping you up in the process.
what is your problem? do you not trust me? it's a mutter during the night sky, the darkness seeming to absorb any meaning those questions had. it's a pointless endeavor for her to even try ask but she relents, believing it would work. though the silence you give her serves as the reminder of mistakes she's made.
her love cracks like how yours did many times over.
you know. and there's only but an echo of guilt on her face and you realize it then, that maybe her promise really was always going to be empty. her hands glide across yours, grazing against your pale knuckles. did she ever love you after all? her shoulders relaxed, almost as if there was a weight off her shoulders.
and you didn't ever tell me. you never would've. the words are nothing shy of an accusation but there was nothing closer to the truth. maybe her love was all but an illusion. fabricated.
a tear falls, dribbling down your cheek as your heart begins to shatter.
maybe it was your love after all that was fickle.

in another episode of Burns talking about TGED without reading the novel and only focusing on the webtoon as source material
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can we talk for a moment about Kim Suho and his Best Friend whose name I do not know (if it was mentioned before, pls lemme know)??
Now, I tend to focus a lot on the imagery of the narrative, like I mentioned before, since in the webtoon we do not have literal text to describe actual scenes, it has pushed to take its liberties on how it develops.
We have seen it on the mayor differences between N!Javier and W!Javier. (I was told.)
With that being said, my current theory in the matter is that Kim Suho is NOT a reliable narrator.
What do I mean with that?
SPOILERS,
(I will not post screenshots bc of spoilers)
In today's CH, we begin with a flashback of Kim Suho meeting w his rich Best Friend who he invites to the bath-house.
Now, Suho mentioned before on a previous flashback that his Best Friend invites him to eat out a lot just for the mere satisfaction of showing off his money. And while it's absolutely hilarious to think so, I do believe it wasn't the case.
In this new memory, Best Friend offers him the service for free, shaking Suho a lot, he questions him and the replies he gets are pretty simple, 'my mom owns the place', 'I'm helping her today', but all of that while he's making a very wicked smile.
This gave me the realization that all of this sequence is strictly within Suho's POV, which we can interpret the whole interaction was actually twisted to fit his narrative.
There's a high chance that Best Friend is doing all of these things out of real kindness and bc he does care for Suho.
But bc he refuses to believe ppl does things out of nowhere (like himself), he is convinced that he's being mocked.
For Suho, it has to be that way, he can only receive any kind of help as long as there's a 'catch', just the same way he gives help.
It also makes him upset to understand that his Best Friend knows his schedule well enough to show up at the proper time to ask him to hang out. Which in retrospect, is not that weird.
With time we all get to know when friends/family get off and on to work. It's not rocket science. But bc Suho is not making that same effort for his Best Friend, he assumes that that's the norm.
Why is he doing all of these things? Why does he know when he's free? How does he know he needs to relax?
Bc those are normal things to know of ppl one's close to.
But for Suho, he doesn't take that as relevant to give effort to. So much that he doesn't understand the simpler answers to those questions because he, himself, wouldn't answer them normally. They have to be negative.
Now, this made me believe that he's not being properly truthful with these memories, since he's convinced that all of these 'kind' actions were made w the idea of being mocked by.
After all, regardless of what was the memory, it's extremely normal that ppl will retell a story to fit their narrative.
In this case, that Best Friend just wanted to be entertained with Suho's struggles.
Now, this doesn't seems to happen when it comes to Javier, and the answer I came up for that might be a bit painful. Unconsciously, Suho probably still sees Javier as a fictional character and not a real person. So to give him effort doesn't seems wasteful since he's not 'real'
After all, this story falls into the same gender as Isekai, 'escapism'. So Suho wouldn't have a problem to blend and care for the new ppl around him bc they are not real. They are part of his escapism. Ofc I'm sure that is changing bc he's now seeing the family and home as his. It's just matter of time when he understands that he's actually building proper interpersonal relationships.
That's all I have for now, good night.
ps, if you don't agree, just block me and move on LMFAO.
If you haven't done so already, I would love to hear you elaborate on You're Crashing and how it relates to the Fred Hampton Jr trial? My knowledge of him and the trial starts with your header text and google isn't exactly forthcoming on the climate of public opinion at the time it was actually happening. Also I just want to hear your thoughts since I heard it from you first, if that's ok
no problem. take what i say with a grain of salt, as im not american, so this isnt my history directly. additionally, this was before my time.
after the beating of rodney king at the hands of police, and the acquital of 3 of the 4 officers responsible, there were riots. the 1992 los angeles riots to be precise. these riots sprang up amid a backdrop of tension between black american and korean communities, and during these riots, a korean menswear store was firebombed. fred hampton jr, son of civil rights activist and martyr fred hampton, was found guilty for this, with the main piece of evidence i believe being that there were blisters on his hands. he and his supporters maintain his innocence for this event. many people, particularly black political activists, believe that his guilty verdict was mostly because he continued his fathers legacy in fighting for racial justice in america.
it is a known fact explicitly stated by the band that youre crashing but youre no wave is inspired by this trial (this is pre release, so the song names are different). this is demonstrated through the narrative told by the lyrics. the story ended before it began. the DA didnt need to give his closing argument, because the jury already believed it from the narrative spun on the news. 'everyones looking for relief/a bidding war for an old flame's grief' the old flame in this case being his father, from whom he picked up the torch. you could pay to close the case like a casket, because whats inside it is messy, and no one wants to see the dirty guts of the truth. the jury is stacked. the witnesses are well paid (too well dressed for the witness stand). the song heavily, heavily implies over and over, that this is not a fair trial, and that there is a foregone conclusion.
i feel as though its easy to argue this song is out of place, but personally, while its VERY on the nose and not really all that subtle (and i like that about it, dont get it twisted), i think it fits into the theme. i mentioned a while back that 'be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. then life seems most enchanted after all' refers, in the context of its association with this album, to the stars in hollywood. ioh is about media narratives first and foremost. its about fame, and celebrity, and painting a perfect picture, one that sells well. its all about the artifice ('style your wake for fashion magazines' 'i only think in the form of crunching numbers in hotel room collectong Page Six lovers' '"we need umbrellas on the inside" get me just right.') and in this case, it shifts its focus from media and celebrity into media and politics. which i find really really interesting.
It's going to be strange seeing Thrawn back in as an imperial. I remember when Rebels ended, one of the most shared headcanons was Thrawn and Ezra being stranded and having to put aside their differences to work together. It was my favorite. I'm not going to be one of those people whose upset that this headcanon didn't go into canon because I know the people who loved this idea as well don't work for Star Wars and are not the storytellers. But, who knows what they will do with Thrawn and how much they change the story of the original novels to fit into the canon
There have been a few hints, particularly by dropped by Lars, that give me hope. While Dave and official star wars media have pushed this "Evil Imperial" narrative a lot, with Filoni calling Thrawn "Moriarty"... the thing is, Zahn has been all too clear Thrawn's first impressions in HTTE was the POV of the MC, and he is like Sherlock. Zahn even wanted to write Thrawn and Ezra teaming up against a greater evil because that's what Thrawn would do. Ignoring the author at such misread of the character would be a huge mistake.
Now... the thing about Lars that gives me hope. When someone compared Thrawn to Moriarty, Lars disagreed saying he was like Sherlock. Later on in a different interview he comment this:
Tumblr media
I think he's being truthful. After doing the character, he's seems lean towards Zahn's vision of the character. He doesn't gain anything from the misdirection for "big twist" shock value. From what I can gather, he trusts the character and the story to hold their own.
“Wouldn't believe me. Knew from birth I was marked to die by lightning. Momma forced me into the bath, twisted my vittles and shoved me in the water even though she knew the electricity could sneak up them pipes and cook me like a suckling pig. Bitch never was right in the head.”
It’s interesting how, between Coyle and Gooseberry, he seems to be classified as more of a natural born evil (like Traeger/Blair/Knoth) while the horror that she embodies is consistently characterized as the byproduct of sustained abuse, or rather of a bunch of horrifying overblown coping mechanisms for it (like Gluskin/Walker/Marta.) Phyllis presents as someone who was socialized with such atrocious, systemized cruelty that she's unable to live outside of that paradigm of parental domination, clinging to this understanding of childhood thats conventions - safety, obedience, innocence, even performance - are defined exclusively by violence.
Now Coyle is as much a product of his environment as she is, but not in the sense that the narrative is constantly reasserting the trauma that warped him along the way. He presents as a particularly sadistic cog in a pre-existing machine of brutality, one that rewarded him from start to finish as he stretched the limits of what he could get away with before getting scouted by a power structure that enabled his cruelty to an even more depraved extreme.
He fits his setting quite well, since the 1950s are recognized as a time of infamous institutionalized injustice. Another widespread aspect of 50s America was cultural and social repression, and that’s where you find the root of what makes Coyle the way he is. This is a man with a hideously destructive fixation on guilt and shame - specifically of the kind that can't be overcome or redeemed, only denied. ("The trick to an effective lie is standing your ground. Never give a fucking inch.") He might bloviate about how it's other people that are Wrong & Dirty & Bad, of course, how he's got nothing to be ashamed of, but there are moments when it's made particularly obvious that this is a cover up for some part of his own identity that he finds irreconcilably repulsive.
There's the aforementioned fact that he’s 100% convinced that if you just lie really really hard, you can bully the truth out of existence. There's that line about how he believes in “educational shame,” “spitting in the eyes of the blind,” i.e. using degradation to uphold a kind of farcical social purity even if you know you’re just maintaining a front. There’s the part where he bemoans that there isn’t a jail anywhere that he himself could be put in, “someplace peaceful and close, someplace warm I could not escape,” like his version of heaven is just to be a dog in a cage, helpless and weak but contained. There's the part where he goes off about how the “undesirables” will inevitably overwhelm him one day, all while using the whole scenario as an excuse to fantasize about being broken and degraded in front of a crowd jesus christ leland go to therapy. There’s also the quote that I put at the top. Which is vague (and sourced from the unreliable narrator to end all unreliable narrators) but also relevant to the discussion of his personal hangups.
Coyle might have had something done to him as a very young child, correct? It’s nowhere near as integral to his characterization as Gooseberry’s trauma is, nor is it laid out as clearly; and yet, the tenor of that story is certainly unpleasant, and it only gets worse when you try to parse out what exactly he’s describing. “Vittles” is just redneck for “food,” but when utilized to describe the actions of someone wrangling a naked child it takes on a much uglier connotation - especially when paired up with a verb like “twist.” The line about how his mother wasn’t “right in the head” is definitely another projection, at least partially, but much of the rest of the quote points to what happened being significant to his obsessions as an adult.
It would certainly explain all those times where he tries to convince the player to see themselves as helpless, pathetic, “born guilty.” Looking at him through the framework of secretly being everything he accuses others of being, what else could’ve made him feel like that? A “half-formed monstrosity with it’s heart on the outside,” damned from birth?
With every passing day, i lose more faith in humanity. The truth these days depends on majority and not actual events that happened. With all the mess today on twitter, seeing taekookers clearly manipulating the truth to fit their twisted narratives and Armys eating that shit up and implying that Jk is a liar broke my heart. Atp, the words that come out of these boys’ mouths don’t mean shit cuz pple will always find a way to twist it to fit their narratives. Why am I surprised? This same fandom twisted Taehyung’s words years ago when he clearly asked pple to stop. Today Jk diplomatically shut Taekook down and many fans know this, but everyone is back to ignoring him cuz Tae showed up to support his friend.
Tumblr media
There is nothing out there about V taking JK by surprise when he went up on stage. And of course I don't want there to be. But I of course can't help but think about how if Jimin had done this.....if that was Jimin... the attention seeker narrative...
Lord have mercy.
I am still traumatised by what happened when we found out Jimin was flying out for Hobipalooza. Jhope solos called him an attention seeker for trying to steal Jhope's moment even though no way he was going to perform. And of course his antis couldn't wait to join in.
Atp anon we just gotta be immune to the fuckery that's out there. It is what it is. Doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. And unless Jikook or Taennie come right out and say they're fucking, nothing will change.
JK getting called a liar just because his own shippers couldn't be assed to be patient. And ot7 will of course pretend they don't see tkkrs continue to be vile everyday.
It sucks anon. So just try not to get hurt and keep reporting and defending our faves.
I Fought the Law (Eddie Munson x Reader)
(continuation of if living is without you. i haven't watched any of v2 bc i'm just not in a mental state to do it yet, so if it seems a little disjointed from the narrative, that's why. third part coming as soon as i figure out what song to name it after i'm camp af)
Tumblr media
"Three officers is a bit much for someone who isn't a suspect, don't you think?"
You quirk a brow defiantly at the men standing in the doorway of Eddie's hospital room, looming over you as if they could possibly inflict any kind of fear you haven't already felt to its fullest. They've been hovering for days, waiting for the right moment to squeeze information out of you. You haven't left Eddie's side for longer than it takes to shower and change your clothes, and everyone he's ever known has been in and out constantly; now, with him fast asleep and the room empty of anyone else, they have you cornered.
"We just need you to answer some questions," the middle officer tells you. "It's either here or at the station."
"Eddie didn't do it," you state.
"One of the victims died in his home and he fled from the scene," another officer quips. "Unless you're keeping information from us, we have no reason to believe he didn't."
"Other than the fact that he was also attacked," you counter.
The men exchange glances, shuffling a bit as the air in the room somehow grows even more tense. The youngest of the officers gestures for you to sit, which you do, perching in the chair that has been pushed against Eddie's bed since he was admitted.
"Why didn't you contact the police when you discovered where the suspect was?" questions the first officer.
"Because he was scared for his life," you explain. "He didn't want anyone to know where he was because he was afraid of dying, not the law. He thought that wha... whoever got Chrissy was coming for him, too."
"Did the suspect name a third person who was present that night?"
You shake your head.
"No. He was in shock and his memory got kind of scrambled. But he was convinced that he was in danger because he was a witness, and that's not... that's not Eddie. Eddie's fearless."
Or at least good at hiding it.
You reach for his hand, comforted by the twitch of his fingers when he feels yours curl around his palm. He shifts a little in his sleep; you can barely take your eyes off him.
"What's your relationship with the suspect?" asks the younger officer.
"We're friends."
The man raises his eyebrows at you, disbelieving.
"You sure?" he presses.
You glare back at him, squeezing Eddie's hand.
"Yes. I'm sure."
The other officer - the one with the stern mouth - laughs, shaking his head.
"If you're gonna lie about this, then chances are you've lied about everything else," he says. "And if you lie to us, you're a suspect, too."
"What are you really asking, then?" you snap. "Do you want the truth, or what you want to hear? Because I won't keep quiet if you end up twisting what I say to fit whatever biased narrative you've already come up with. Every newspaper in this godforsaken state will have my story."
"We just don't have a lot of information," the younger officer interjects. "Other than another boy, the suspect is our only witness to any of these murders."
"Is that the same boy whose only explanation for any of this shit is that Eddie is possessed by the devil?"
Your question is met with complete silence, in which none of the men can meet your eyes. You scoff.
"Yeah. I thought so. Incompetent fucks."
"You better show some respect," the rude officer threatens. "We could land your boyfriend's ass in prison for a long time if you're not careful."
"So you admit it?" you challenge. You're both standing now, almost chest to chest. "You're blaming Eddie because you don't have any other leads."
The officer sizes you up, almost as if he's considering whether or not to put you in cuffs. You set your jaw, gaze unwavering as you glare into his eyes. After an uneasy, drawn out moment, he backs down, returning to his seat.
"I stand by what I said," you state, crossing your arms. You tower over the men sitting before you. "Eddie didn't do this. He may look like a total creep but that's just to hide the fact that he's too sweet for his own good. He does it to keep away the people who want to hurt him."
"Well, that's all very heart warming," the middle officer responds, "but is there any hard evidence to back up your statement?"
"His clothes," you answer. "His clothes didn't have any blood on them - not enough for someone who could've murdered anyone. And he wore them for three days afterward so they haven't been washed. I know you have them as evidence, so do your fucking job and test them."
They all stare at you, seemingly perplexed that you can poke holes in their theory so easily; the youngest officer actually looks a little scared of you.
"You're very stupid for taking such a tone with us," the middle man says. "I'm almost tempted to cite you with disrespecting an officer."
You swallow, refusing to back down.
"... But you gave us more than we had. So thank you. We'll find you again if we have any further questions."
The men stand, stalking stiffly out of the room without looking back. Once the door is shut, you hear a soft chuckle from the bed behind you.
"You lied to the cops?" Eddie comments groggily. "That's pretty hot."
You turn to face him, rolling your eyes with an endeared smile as you make your way back to the chair at his side. Your fingers find his hair, tenderly brushing the fringe out of his eyes.
"I didn't lie," you correct him. "I just kept out the parts that would make me sound crazy."
"Still hot," Eddie drawls. "Kinda pissed you called me a creep, though."
"You are a creep. Leering at me like that," you tease.
His goofy smile only grows wider, creasing the corners of his mouth in a way that you find beyond beautiful. Even with his injuries, his face discolored and rutted with scratches starting to scab, he's radiant. He tucks your hand within his, raising the back of your palm to his lips in a soft, appreciative kiss.
"Thank you," he whispers.
"Always."
Tumblr media
You're asleep on your cot by the window when something heavy crashes into you, bouncing and jostling you awake.
"Wake up!" Dustin shouts. "How can you sleep at a time like this? Holy shit!"
You smack haphazardly at him, your palm landing on his chest.
"Dude," you mumble, "language."
He shoves a newspaper in your face in response, cackling with glee.
"You're my hero," he cheers. "Both of you are my effing heroes."
You roll onto your back, squinting against the morning sun as you try to gain back a little bit more of your consciousness. Across from you, Eddie yawns, reaching a lanky arm to snatch the paper off your chest. His sleepy scowl spreads into an ecstatic grin as he reads the headline.
"Holy shit."
He flips the front page toward you, showing off the letters screaming in bold black ink:
FORENSIC EVIDENCE CLEARS MURDER SUSPECT; POLICE DROP CASE
So by now y’all know i’m on tiktok a lot of time and naturally i get a lot of videos about our boys. Thing is, i come across some “ship” videos that include either Jimin or JK with another member and the comments be saying “It’s always these two” and i’m like No bitch, it’s not AlWaYs ThEsE tWo, y’all are just so fucking blind to the “other two” that’s what it is.
Cause i’ll be damned if being flirtatious is for some reason considered gay if it’s Jimin or JK with any other member but NOT when they’re flirting with each other.. I’m sorry Ma’am but imma need some explanation over here cause ?!!?!
Tumblr media
And you know what’s silly? All these damn excuses that for some reason only pop up when it comes to Jikook. Y’all were adamant about the hickey or as y’all like to convince yourselves being just a “bite” (well technically speaking a hickey is called a love bite but they ain’t ready for that one) or a cover up for JK’s “girlfriend” but surprise surprise when Jimin wasn’t even brought up in the equation with Joon, hickeys suddenly became a Jimin thing.
So we over here always twisting the boys words to fit your unresolved hatred towards any possible deeper bond between Jimin and JK but my question is why is it THAT bad for them to be a thing? Cause i don’t see anyone combusting when they talk about these two being with any other member i mean.. Is the world ending if Jikook are a thing or..? What am i missing? What are we trying to dismiss their bond for?
Thing is, they’ve always been sus
Tumblr media
They’ve always been a lil..
Tumblr media
Fruity..
But the narrative is that, apparently, all the things they’ve been up to is such a normal thing to do with friends, besties, um.. siblings.. parents.. Okay yeah Margaret this is disturbing
Tumblr media
I can pretend and go along with that lame ass excuse of that being “normal” between friends but when we’re tip toeing a bit too close to sweet home Alabama i can’t follow anymore. Cause you know you won’t catch me on a regular Sunday just making out with my brother’s neck you know.. I also know for a fact that if anyone other than my so was licking my ear they’re getting my elbow right on the nose.
“Why do you always bring up things that happened in the past? 🙄” Well i mean we always tend to talk more about the most shocking things don’t we? But truth is that there’s a whole list out there for things Jikook do every year that make me side-eye. We ain’t even recovered yet from the domesticity that emanated from a comment exchange, the whole context of it, let alone stuff that happened in front of our salads.
You know about muscle memory right? So when your homie is teasing you, cupping your face, your initial reflex ain’t puckering your lips fam..
Tumblr media
Bruh i’m not even going to talk about how these two be having the gayest photoshoots
Tumblr media
You also won’t catch me thirst trapping my bro or just canoodling in a dark corner in a party where people are supposed to be having fun with friends ya know. Now of course i ain’t crazy to be thinking that every interaction out there means something deep, there’s a whole thought process, a whole context, a whole understanding to do, a whole knowledge of the person, etc..
Something you have to ask yourself “Did A ever do to anyone else what they’ve just done to B?” If the answer is yes of course you can look further into it since as i said there’s also context in there and depending on that (of course we’re talking here about stuff that seem sus anything else is just that no need to dig further into it) but if the answer is no you’ve got your answer right there.
Tumblr media
(Credits to Dalto on Twitter)
Sure enough this is playful this is cute but this is that, as a non-jikooker you are free to see this as friends being friends you know i won’t judge you, i personally see it and it warms my heart but i won’t be jumping on my bed screaming yet.
Tumblr media
Initially here JK was supposed to be in the middle but we all know how many times that boy tried to fool Joon into thinking that he forgot he was supposed to be in the middle lol I guess that day Joon just gave up on trying because naturally our Jikook tend to gravitate towards each other, just another Tuesday really.. Again i can see people dismissing this and downplaying it but we all know damn well that once something start becoming a bit of a habit.. You start wondering why (y’all already know why lol)
I know that this post might make absolutely no sense, literally i was just sitting around doing nothing and decided to write, i can’t even focus to make shit organized but hey.. bear with me. My point is, why are people too set on making everything BTS do gay until Jimin and JK do it together? I can understand that coming from the cult for very obvious reason despite it not making any sense but whatever, but why are other people completely loosing their shit over it too?
So… how’s Bill feeling about the fact that Stan kinda just like, fucking killed him?
From Bill's POV, Stan is the place where Bill died, and Ford is the person who killed Bill. Stan is passive object, not active agent.
Is this a fair assessment? I don't think so. I think they deserve equal credit/blame for the kill.
But it fits how Bill thinks of them.
Ford? Bill MADE Ford. Ford was a clever-but-not-that-special overevolved primate with a biological imperative to achieve faux immortality by leaving a legacy that he was channeling into a piddling little research trip to an unimportant town on an unimportant planet.
BILL gave Ford what he truly wanted: he made Ford's work important. He made FORD important. He could have made Ford ETERNAL. He gave Ford the honor of being the architect of Earth's existential liberation. Out of the goodness of his flat little heart, he kept giving Ford chances to join him every time Ford turned Bill down or betrayed him. And in return what does that ingrate do? KILL him.
Meanwhile, who's Stan? Some screw-up who bumbled his way into ruining his own life, and bumbled all his efforts to fix his life, and bumbled around for thirty years trying to turn on a machine it took his brother less than two years to build, and finally bumbled into the crossfire when Ford was taking out Bill. He was just... THERE.
Ask Bill why he begged Stan for mercy, and he'll say it was an act of panic.  OBVIOUSLY he knows Stan never had the power to save Bill even if he HAD accepted any of Bill's offers. From the moment Bill entered Stan's head, Stan was as helpless as Bill was.
("How much of this twisted narrative about Ford and Stan does Bill actually believe?" He believes all of it completely—when it suits him to believe it. Sometimes it suits him to see himself as a trickster who outsmarted an arrogant "genius"; sometimes it suits him to see himself as a benevolent muse whose foolish student couldn't understand the priceless gift he offered. Truth is relative; and he always had a strained relationship with his relatives.)
It lets Bill feel important and self-righteous if he frames Ford like a treacherous student. He can make a meaty narrative out of that—a narrative he can turn over and over in his head like a burnt crisp rotisserie chicken while he coddles his wounded pride.
What kind of a story can he make out of his relationship with Stan? "Guy I thought was too stupid to pose a threat outwits me in my moment of triumph, so what does that say about me"? "Some background character I've never had a conversation with kills me"?
Bill doesn't want that to be the story of his life. So he just... subconsciously chooses not to believe it.
So Bill's mad at Stan for participating in his death, yeah; but, unjustly, he's mad at him like a supervillain is mad at a superhero's sidekick, not at the superhero himself.
There's more suppressed rage bubbling in Bill that could rise to the surface later; but it's not going to happen until somebody says or does something that forces Bill to recontextualize Stan & Ford's roles in his death—whether that means awarding Stan a position of higher narrative significance, or being forced to face the truth that he got suckered by a dumb conman in a borrowed trench coat.
Until that day comes? Bill is fantasizing about doing the "Singin' in the Rain" puddle-splashing dance in Ford's blood, not Stan's.
Actually I made this account because I felt absolutely tortured in the anti community and shitty people like you made me want to die !!
But alright let's play this game and call me a groomer who wants to touch kids because the idea of ppl like me existing makes your blood boil !! How delightful ~ /sarcastic
Sorry but where there are ex-rq there are going to be ex-antis and you are going to have to get over it. If ex-rq folk can make accounts then ex-antis can to.
...after seeing ppl like you shower anti-rq folks in kindness when they open up about their experiences I'd (foolishly) think you'd at least have a little bit of that for the other side of the coin...but nope !! Since you don't agree with me you throw the suffering I experienced at the hands of people like you directly in my face and invalidate me.
And people like you really want me on your side when you post shit like this ?? Holy fuck I'm so glad I'm not in the abomination you call the anti-rq community anymore.
Fuck you and everything you stand for because I'd simply rather die than be anything like you. Your " community " is more of a cult and overall more harmful than the RQ community could ever be.
(( Also it's fucking obvious being RQ ≠ being an abuser. I know being an anti-rq sheep is mind numbing but fucking think for once in your life maybe ?? ))
+ me saying I was saved by the radqueer community isn't "cultish", it's the truth and it's fucking disgusting that you'd try and turn it to fit your warped narrative. "Survived" wasn't me being overdramatic either, I was completely an anti all the while I was in the community but it didn't matter. I was sent threats and constantly tiptoeing around everything, I attempted several times since online was my only escape and said escape was tainted and twisted by ppl like you. You ( as in antis ) made the Internet unsafe for me when I LITERALLY AGREED WITH THE COMMUNITY.
I see your posts about this account, it doesn't matter if you've blocked me, if you can spy so can I. You can spread disinformation, harass me, whatever, but I will always be here.
LOL and you just love to bring up the fact I'm a shotacon because I posted a "shotasona" on an old account,, pathetic rlly. + I wasn't termed because of that post as you claim, my inbox was flooded by antis before my account got deleted. Multiple of them admitted to false reporting me under several different categories, probably redirected by your waste of an account.
What are your k drama recommendations??!? I need new ones
omg my time has come thank you anon for giving me the opportunity to ramble about shows
I ended up talking WAY too long so I'm putting everything after the first one under the cut
all of us are dead- show about high schoolers as a zombie apocalypse starts. very funny and relatable, literally they call the police and are like 'have you seen train to busan?' bffrrn. has a lot of social commentary and there are references to the sinking of mc sewol (a cruise that sunk where the captain deserted it and left a large amount of high schoolers to drown). commentary about how adults save themselves first/leave youth to fend for themselves. one of my comfort shows and although they didn't intend for more seasons, it was received so well that they have been renewed! I am also an ot4 truther and sometimes talk about them on my international shows sideblog: @nam-on-jo
sweet home- (disclaimer: I am not caught up and have not yet seen s2 which came out a little while ago) honestly I have no idea how to explain this so I'm gonna copy-paste the blurb: as humans turn into savage monsters, one troubled teenager and his neighbours fight to survive and to hold onto their humanity. basically people turn into monsters for [redacted] reasons and everyone in his large apartment building is stuck inside trying to fend for their lives.
my name- I'm just going to paste the blurbs going forward because it's easier: Following her father's murder, a revenge-driven woman puts her trust in a powerful crime boss -- and enters the force under his direction. bro some of these twists I expected but others caught me off guard. I love the main character and am a little gay for her but I think that's valid because she's a bamf. there was a plot point at the end of the second to last episode that I really didn't like and made me very upset. narratively I get why they did it but it made me sad so I'm still pissy. might get around to writing a fix-it fic one day when motivation strikes because my girl deserves better things.
the guest- a detective, a catholic priest, and a psychic join forces to fight crime caused by supernatural forces. not to say they are my ot3 but they kinda are. (other ppl interpret it is a lesbian and her two bi/gay bffs which I also accept but. ot3 tho). LOVED every twist and turn and how the three of them go from not trusting one another to being family. genuinely one of my favorites from all the kdramas I've watched over the years and I want to rewatch it again soon
happiness (tvn)- The residents of a high-rise apartment fight for their lives against a deadly infectious disease while Sae-bom and Yi-hyun try to find the person because of whom the virus spread. bro I adored this. some characters annoyed me (which means they were written effectively) but it has so much. fake dating/marriage (they wanted a better apartment lmao). annoyances to lovers. mean/rude woman soft for sunshine man. what you will do for the people you love. morals and humanity during a catastrophy. *smacks show* you can fit so much into this. no but seriously, I thought this was a really interesting take on the zombie virus! so some of the time you come off completely asymptomatic and 'normal', so people can get away with acting normal and hiding the disease around other people, so the paranoia and mystery is REALLY amped up. had me guessing a LOT. sae-bom and yi-hyun are both cops/detectives and you find out really early (ep 1/2?) that sae-bom is immune which gives a really interesting dynamic that leaves her (to yi-hyun's exasperation and heightened blood pressure levels) to be kinda reckless in the pursuit of truth and salvation. I'm rambling now because this is making me watch to rewatch but yeah as a zombie/dystopia/apocalypse lover this was a good watch. it's more story-focused than violence-heavy which was a cool and refreshing twist
alice in borderland- okay y'all I am aware people had mixed feelings about s2 but overall I did enjoy the series. 'Obsessed gamer Arisu suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.' what can I say, I love a dystopian-esque setting.
the silent sea- imma be real, I only watched it for loml bae doona from sense8. 'During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.' basically earth is in severe crisis mode as they run out of water to drink. water has recently been found on the moon, and although there was a mysterious tragedy that happened previously to researchers looking for water in a base on the moon, they have reached a level of desperation where they have another mission to look for moon water. mystery, paranoia, a couple of good twists ensue. I thought it was pretty good even though I have some mixed feelings about the open ending.
semantic error- yes I am sliding a bl into this list. bitch you thought. of course my bl-loving self would mention this (I forgot about it until I looked up good kdramas to remind myself of stuff I have watched). 'A strict, rule-abiding computer science major must work together with an artist with a polar-opposite personality to his.' confident cool boy meets bitch boy. it's great.
and of course...
leverage con artists- I would be fired from running this blog if I didn't mention the beloved korean spinoff of leverage. 'The series follows the story of Lee Tae-joon, a former insurance investigator who forms a team of thieves and con artists to target the rich and wealthy. The team was also formed to avenge Tae-joon's son's death.' I've posted about it before so I won't go super into it but it's VERY camp, a good time, and the ot3 is alive and well. debatable more overt than their predecessor!
other mentionables:
I tried watching kingdom (again for bae doona) but couldn't really get into it. might try again later because it's critically acclaimed (I think) and has even gotten a spinoff series
my roommate really liked mr queen. I didn't really pay attention when we were in the same room and they were watching it but it's fruity
the island on amazon prime was good! interesting plot but not in my top 10 or anything. worth a watch if you're looking for a kdrama to watch in your spare time. features girlboss businesswoman being thrown into a world of the supernatural because [redacted]. supernatural black horse man keeps her safe while keeping a life-changing secret.
let's fight ghost was a thai show that I saw and loved that was adapted into a kdrama called bring it on ghost, but honestly I couldn't get through it because I liked the thai one better.
train to busan is technically a movie but it's iconic and well-known and I highly suggest watching it if you like zombie/apocalypse movies. disclaimer: kdramas do not have the slow 'walker' zombies. they are fucking fast and the stuff of my nightmares. would probably just jump off a bridge if this actually happened ngl
I did think that extraordinary attorney woo was cute. I never finished it and know that there are VERY valid criticisms about the perpetuation of media portraying people with autism in the stereotypical savant ways. however, I liked how the love interest accepted her for who she was, loved her because of who she was and made efforts to accommodate and learn how to comfort her in ways that would work for her
business proposal was pretty decent if you like lighthearted romance- I didn't finish it but would like to at some point
tale of the nine tailed was another one that my roommate and I started watching but never finished. it was alright! just lost interest
shows on my watchlist:
black knight (netflix)- 'In a dystopian future devastated by air pollution, the survival of humanity depends on a group of deliverymen known as the Black Knights who navigate the wastelands using unconventional means.'
copycat killer-
hellbound (netflix)-
shop for killers (hulu)- 'A nephew who lost his parents and grew up in the hands of an uncle who runs a shopping mall faces a new truth after his uncle's sudden death.'
the legend of the blue sea (viki + hulu)- 'A magistrate's plan to release mermaids into the ocean backfires when they're caught by fishermen.' (legit I just miss mermaid media)
gyeongseong creature (netflix)- 'In the city of Gyeongseong in 1945, a group of young people thinking only of their own survival encounter a monster born of human greed and ask themselves what humanity is.'
dark hole (viki)- 'A mysterious black fog from a petrochemical factory's sinkhole turns people into bizarre figures; people who are not infected try to survive in this middle of pandemonium.'
the cursed (multiple)- 'An enthusiastic social issues reporter, fighting against the evil hidden behind an IT conglomerate, meets a teen-age girl who is possessed by a spirit and has special abilities.'
blood (multiple)- 'Dr Park Ji Sang believes in the sanctity of human life, and struggles to treat terminally ill cancer patients and save lives while at the same time being a vampire.'
the ghost detective (viki)- 'In this horror thriller drama, a detective who catches ghosts tries to solve the case of his younger sibling's death with the help of his assistant.'
possessed (netflix)- 'A smart-mouthed detective and a reclusive psychic medium join together to get rid of the ghost of a murder who was executed 20 years ago.'
connect (hulu)- 'A man is kidnapped and one of his eyes removed by a gang of organ hunters; his eyes was transplanted into body of a serial killer; the unwilling donor now has terrible visions as he witnesses terrifying attacks on the residents of Seoul.'
and now just because so many of these only have het romances, I looked up k-dramas with lgbtq representation... (some of these recommendations were from articles from screenrant, movieweb, this subreddit, herzindagi (bl-focused), allkpop)
schoolgirl detectives (viki)- 'Five teenage girls join together to investigate mysterious incidents that occur at their school, as well as help classmate deal with bullying, depression and other crises.'
be melodramatic (netflix, viki)- 'Three 30-year-old best friends, Jinju, Eun-jung and Hanju each pursue different paths in both career and love. Despite life's difficulties, the three friends can always return home at the end of the day and support each other.'
lily fever (available w/subtitles on youtube)- 'The story revolves around the budding relationship between Kim Kyung Ju and Jang Se Rang who meet when Kyung Ju can't find her passport and has to go to her friend's house to try and find it.'
love alarm (netflix)- 'In a world in which an app alerts people if someone in the vicinity likes them, Kim Jojo experiences young love while coping with personal adversities.'
nevertheless (netflix)- 'The story of a romance between a man who is annoyed with relationships but likes to flirt and a woman who wants to date but does not believe in love.' (wlw side couple romance)
Was thinking about the subject of interpretation recently. You've made clearer to me the truth that storytelling is always communicating something and that there's always objective facts to be observed in a story's quality. But what about the subjective elements or the elements that can be argued to be subjective?
To be more specific, you've talked about turning interpretation into rewriting before, largely in regards to the HP Marauders, which is when interpretation goes too far. So I'd first ask what you think is the correct way to handle interpretation in reading stories?
My second question, tying into that, is for cases like those of the HP fandom (and all fandoms everywhere, really) but where the audience claims not to be guilty of rewriting the characters or plot. When things get blurrier and people argue that they can, for example, interpret a character as gay even when that character has explicitly stated they aren't by arguing that - in their interpretation - the character was lying because they're in denial. Other similar cases include of course the thousands of characters whose sexualities and the inner thoughts of their relationships are headcanoned by fans however they see fit with all manner of excuses used to fit it into any canon context that might contradict their vision.
Those are the obvious cases to my mind, but there's also whether a character's motives are selfish or heroic, whether a villain cares about people deep down or is unrelentingly evil, whether the whole story isn't secretly Johnny Jim's fever dream that represents his trauma, etc. In so many cases, fans can make arguments that since their interpretation isn't technically contradicted by the narrative then it can be correct even if it's a pure addition to the story.
Long build up, but my second question would then be do you think that argument is a valid form of interpretation or has it crossed over into rewriting?
This is a tricky question. Because the truth is that humans can twist anything until it says whatever they want it to say. Obviously, if you simply say, "Well I know Lupin married and loved a woman and actively called Sirius a 'friend,'" but he was lying." And when you ask them for proof that he was lying, they ultimately don't have any. They can say "look at how close Sirius and Lupin seemed," or "think about how uncomfortable he was to be with Tonks," but you can easily explain those evidences—with the explanations given in the book by the narrator. "Yeah, they were close because they were friends. He was uncomfortable to marry her because he's a werewolf and she's younger, he literally said so."
Theres "evidence" on both sides, for each argument. But only one side takes all available evidence, as a whole, and still has a supportable conclusion. The other side, the side that claims Lupin and Sirius were romantically interested in one another, picks and chooses whatever lines up with their theory (like you said) and discards the rest—or has to add to the original material to make their interpretation make sense.
And what is "adding to the original material?" It's simply assuming god-like knowledge of a character you didn't create. Because Rowling didn't give you evidence for Lupin's straight love for Tonks and platonic friendship with Sirius being a lie. She could've. She's written liars and their behaviors before. She's written Lupin hiding the truth, too, so we know what THAT looks like.
Ultimately, I'd say:
The correct way to handle the interpretation of stories is to look at the story as a whole, first. Remember that every word, every line, everything said and left out, was a decision made by the storyteller. They're each building blocks for a whole. So you have to look at the whole, first. My method is to look at the good that befalls a character, and the bad that befalls a character, and trace the cause. Usually, the a good or bad thing happening to a character can be traced all the way back to a decision they, or some other character, made. Once you find that decision, you have to try and figure out why the character made that decision: what was their motivation? What belief drove them to make that decision? You act the way you act because you think the way you think. You can figure motivations out in specific characters by analyzing what events shaped their worldview, or paying attention to what words they choose when they speak in moments of conflict or tension. Dodger (in Oliver and Company) says "you're one of the gang. the gang means family." when he's angry with Oliver for wanting to leave. That's the first time we see Dodger hurt and angry with a friend. And that's the explanation we're given. And we can couple that with the times he's risked his skin: jumping in front of angry Dobermans, or refusing to eat until he gets to the others. So we know, after looking at all the evidence, that the most important thing to Dodger isn't food or safety or even "looking cool:" it's that core group of characters he considers "family." Then you've cracked him, as a character.
If a fan is adding something to a story that lines up with the character's purpose in the original material—or at least lines up with their character traits at some point in the original material—then it's an addition to the story. Cinderella 2015 zooms in on the fact that Cinderella loved and respected her parents: in the original cartoon, you're shown one scene of her crying at her father's bedside, and another of her adoring her mother's dress in the most stressful of circumstances. That's not rewriting. The foundation was there in the original material. They just reverse-engineered that parental relationship, looked at how something seemed to be keeping Cartoon Cinderella in high spirits regardless of circumstances (which is not a trait she could've learned anywhere OTHER than those briefly-mentioned parents, based on all the evidence) and built upon it. But, if they'd taken the death of the parents and said, "Ella desperately wanted to please her stepmother, because she barely remembered her real mother," it would have been a rewrite. Why? Because if you look at ALL of the evidence, cartoon Cinderella doesn't tell Bruno to "love Lucifer like I love my stepmother, we're all we've got." That's what she would've said if she felt that way about her birth mother versus her stepmother. But instead, she tells him to "look for his good points, even if it's hard." And she clearly shows excitement and adoration for her mother's old dress. And the opening scene shows us how much she loved her parents. So when you take ALL the evidence, you CAN'T come by the wrong conclusion, and make a rewrite, honestly.
I hope that answered your questions. Shoot me another ask if not.
