Like why people ship them (if you know) and all that because, personally, I find all three disgusting, especially KawaHima.

(I know this'll be more of bsu and anti-bsa, but it's an important essential of the story)

ok, so I, personally, ship msu and ksu because I find them fun and more of crack ships then actual canon ships. I see why ppl like them, but they are more of crack ships. the only one that's actually sailing is ksu, but that's basically dead since timeskip.

but before I get into those ships, let's begin with the incest KawaHima.

kh is basically bsa, an incest ship. except the only difference is kh doesn't have same blood (bsa is incest because of their dads are reincarnations of Ashura and Indra and their clans are close, almost to the point of bsa being literally cousins). but kh are ADOPTIVE siblings, either way, they're related, not by blood tho.

I don't understand why ppl like it considering they're literally siblings. it's basically like shipping Boruto and Himawari. and not to mention their age difference.

ok, so now msu & ksu! first we'll start with msu because that won't take as long as the ksu rant:

so the first actual reason ppl started shipping them (actual fans) is the anime when Nue arc took place. that's what got me hooked on them.

but bsa fans only ship them to get Sumire and Mitsuki away from Boruto and Sarada because Mitsuki has only shown to be romantic around Sarada and Boruto (he might be gay for Boruto, but if he's straight, he's only ever shown interest in Sarada). and Sumire, well, need I say more? she is the ONLY character to have confirmed feelings for another character, hence why they want them both out of the way, because, other than Kawaki, they're the biggest threats to their ship. and they say Mitsuki is the captain of their ship, yet they're suddenly gonna want to throw him away the second he has any romantic relationship with either. and he actually never called them a "good couple" in the manga a.k.a canon and only in the Academy in the anime. after graduating and being on the same team, NOT ONCE has he said they make a good couple because he KNOWS they don't. hell, he asked Sarada ONCE about her feelings in anime and in manga, but he just wanted to know, not that he thinks they will make a good couple, but he was curious, not shipping them.

and with Kawaki, they ship Sumire with him just so they'll both be out of the way of their ship. yet Eida has feelings for Kawaki so she'll most likely get him and Sumire has feelings for Boruto so she'll most likely get him. Sarada's only option is Mitsuki, but yes, Kawaki is a victim of the disgusting bsa fandom because neither parties (Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, Kawaki) have confirmed their feelings for each other.

and they know how cringy their supposed ship is, which is why they try and say Sumire's love is just a crush and Sarada has confirmed her feelings over blushing and she's a tsundere. they even say Sumire only lied to Sarada so she could recognize her feelings, yet that backfired because after that, the only romantic scene they got was Sarada hugging Boruto in timeskip, like, 66 chapters after Sumire supposedly "manipulated Sarada in realizing her feelings for Boruto".

ok, so I gave a basic rundown, but I'll get into detail about it, starting with Sumire's confession:

ok, so here, antis claim that Sumire only manipulated Sarada into realizing her feelings for Boruto (which didn't happen considering the only romantic thing they have in the ENTIRE manga is the hug at the end of TBV chapter 5, the rest of their moments in the manga were cons to the ship). Sumire was GENUINE about HER feelings, not helping Sarada realize hers.

(btw, for bsa to actually happen, Sarada's personality has to take a big 180 for the ship to actually be considered romantic)

because this comes back up AGAIN:

this is when they KNOW she has DEFINITE feelings for him - REAL feelings. not an act, not a manipulation tactic, REAL FEELINGS, TRUE LOVE.

even Katasuke says "though it's so very obivious". meaning her feelings are true and real.

and say she DID manipulate Sarada to realize her feelings (hell will have to freeze over before it's confirmed that she did), her look wasn't jealous, but more of shock because it came out of nowhere, and she looked concern as Team 7 left and she was looking back at Sumire, probably like "oh no, this idiot is gonna get her heartbroken!". she was worried FOR Sumire, not worried ABOUT Sumire. she didn't think of Sumire as a rival, she thought of her as a close friend (she was her first friend and only friend until Chocho showed up) and she was worried that Boruto (being the dense kid he is) will hurt her.

say, just say, that she lied to Sumire about not having feelings for Boruto (as some antis claim), she'll be an even worse friend than Sakura was to Ino when their friendship ended. at least only one was serious about Sasuke (Sakura), Ino only went after him just to piss Sakura off. whereas Sumire's feelings are real and if Sarada has real feelings, all her moments after chapter 19 will be to piss of Sumire, because remember, she NEVER mentioned Sumire's name when she told Sasuke about Omnipotence, and she hugged Boruto IN FRONT of Sumire. that'll just make her look WORSE than she already does.

but Sarada couldn't care less about romantic feelings, let alone for Boruto. as she confirmed with Eida and Mitsuki.

so they need Sumire to be like Ino and move on with a guy like Sai (Mitsuki), hell, even Kawaki!

the only problem is:

"(koi) = Love between lovers(romantic)"

THAT is the kanji written on Sumire's databook and the cover she first appears in. they're both about SUMIRE, not Sarada as ppl claim. because why would it show up in the same cover Sumire does, huh? suspicious. but her databook cover comfirms her feelings are real.

but now they know that her feelings won't go away so they need Mitsuki and Kawaki to come and take her away so any of them won't be in the way.

msu has had NO interactions in the manga, had the Academy & Nue arcs and the one seen in the Kawaki arc where Mitsuki catches her when she falls over after Kawaki kicks her (all in the anime), well, if you exclude all the random classmate talking during other arcs. but overall, those have the romantic scenes and even then, the only romantic scene is that one seen in the Kawaki arc that isn't even that romantic.

ksu however, in the manga, only has Sumire being Kawaki's caretaker and the anime added a few "romantic" ksu moments, then realized, "wait, this isn't what's happening in the manga", and suddenly, it's like they never happened and ksu never even met.

ppl think that Sumire being Kawaki's caretaker will make her fall in love with him, yet HE asked about HER feelings for BORUTO, not him, BORUTO, his brother. both Mitsuki and Kawaki haven't shown any romantic feelings in ANYONE, including Sarada and Boruto. but at least with Boruto and Sumire, there's a spark there (Boruto being a little too much overprotective of her).

Sarada, however, currently, hopping to and from Mitsuki and Kawaki, so it's kinda hard to tell who'd she'll end up with but it'll probably be Mitsuki because Kawaki ruined Boruto's life. with Boruto, there's just that "he's my teammate, gotta keep him save", "my master told me to protect her so I have to."

say msu or ksu do get a lot of attention, you really think Sumire could look at them like she looks at Boruto. Boruto, himself, debunked that she may be a good actress, yet she can't hide her feelings. she can barely hide her feelings from Boruto in front of anyone. I'm honestly surprised Sarada didn't see the confession coming when Sumire started talking about if Boruto was popular with the girls back in Konoha.

but ppl start creating crazy theories that they'll end up together and that Kishi planned it.

but yes, I'm gonna rap this up:

basically, ppl (some) ship them because they're cute, most ship them to get all three out of the way.

why was i like that (tl;dr in tags)

today i clicked on sgc's ig profile and saw that they use they/them pronouns now. and it makes me want to cry.

bc even tho we Literally went to high school together-ish (they were 3yrs after me?) we had such different experiences.

i was a Girl who hung out with guys who didn't respect me, went out with a boyfriend who was nice to me, and was too shy / awkward / busy being that shy nerd stereotype [1] that i had no "deep friendship". you could ask anyone anything about me and they wouldn't know the answer! and i wouldn't know anything about them!! [2] bc we were a small class (169) and everyone in town was a mix of neighbor and cousin, i got my invites to parties and dances, but i overall felt like i was on autopilot. i don't remember my life until i was ~16 [3]!! why!!!

i think a lot about how dr uju anya had a whole husband and child but over time realized she was a lesbian. not to parasocialize too much with this academic weapon, but i feel like i also had this experience (to a much smaller / younger degree). and i feel so sad thinking about how i could've saved so much pain in high school if i had just known i wasn't wired to like guys like that [4].

and i remember lindie [5], someone who's ~30 now and has been with her now-husband since she was ~13. one day we had a good phone call (post-hs-graduation) and she told me that for literally everyone else she could possibly see romantically / sexually, she's a lesbian. but she and her husband have literally Grown Up together. her love for him is something that goes beyond platonic / romantic / sexual attraction. it's a life partnership in every sense of the term.

this phone conversation lit a lightbulb in my summer 2019 brain. i knew that this high school bf of mine could be a life partner. we started dating when i was 11 or 12 and !!! we both saw each other grow up (at least to some degree). but something in the pit of my stomach told me i couldn't live a lie like that. it wouldn't be fair to him for me to have this self-discovery and just .. continue as if it didn't happen?

and so when someone said that dr. uju's pre-lesbian marriage was "sad" bc she didn't know she was a lesbian, i got (in my head) defensive. bc "it's totally possible to be happy and ignore this part of yourself!" (it's not).

for the longest time i told myself that being bisexual was the easiest sexuality to have bc i knew i liked women and i could always just end up with a guy to make my family happy, if i had to, ya know? i got mentally defensive when ppl online said that "invisibility is not a privilege" and "biphobia is real" bc i was subconsciously using this label as a way to hide the fact that the mere thought of a life with a man made me anxious / nauseous / scared.

and boy did that fear kick into overdrive anytime i was around a guy. if he even smiled at me, i'd go a little silly. it didn't even matter if he was straight, bi, ace, gay, or anything, i'd just latch onto the fact that it was a Man talking to me and i couldn't stop thinking about them and any comment they made that made them seem bored / annoyed at me made me spiral about my self-worth. but if there was ever a case that i Thought they even Maybe had an interest in me, i'd get nauseous again. to this day i feel like i still put guys up on a pedestal so i just have ... no guy friends [6].

this novel is a silly way of saying the following things.

the label "lesbian" is a vibe rn

(death + suicide mentioned in this footnote) she was the french teacher that replaced my old french teacher after she died, and lindie really suffered for us. bc it was a catholic school, she was forced to cover up her tattoos, and she had to wear longer clothes (admin always told her to cover up even when she was wearing Long Clothes). she went through so much (miscarriage, lost here sense of self, etc.) and was literally suicidal but she still showed up for us. one of my fav teachers and an inspiration to this day.

calamity trio post-amphibia hcs

marcy doesn't get to stay with them for very long after they all return to earth :'( thanks to the new job and the move and all that

sashanne have study dates (and probably video call marcy in on them) while they have to catch up on the school stuff they missed

in the beginning, they video called constantly, while acclimating back to/reintegrating into earth society again

after everything that happened, though sasha and anne did hang out at school and stuff for a while after, it just wasn't the same (1. without marcy, 2. not in amphibia, so also without their amphibian friends 💔) -> by the time they got into high school, it was easy for them to fall into other friend circles (instead of their old dynamic of doing Everything together)

they have a group chat going, but as they made more new friends and grew into other interests, the less they relied on the gc for their sole source of friendship and companionship; now more a space for sporadic updates and maybe coordinating a video chat or two

they do have a movie watch party or two where they watch marcy's fave movie though, and share how they had remembered the strategy in the first part when rescuing her (though darcy unfortunately also knew about it lol)

...

entering college meant they got a lot busier, so updates became even less frequent (& they made more new friends in college too: lots of growing and finding yourself in college lol)

i imagine anne stayed more local and may even still live with her parents (since their relationship only got stronger since amphibia, and so she also stays connected to the thai community. also b/c rent in socal is expensive), or she went to a school with a strong bio program and visits home frequently; sasha i can see moving out/farther away from her home asap; marcy maybe wherever she got a scholarship (and/or if she applied to an art school)

anne makes friends with other ppl in her major (and also probably with like, any clubs she joins), but no one can really understand what these frogs and amphibians mean to her (only sasha and marcy can, because they lived it too) (and the select few who've met and know the plantars, but none of them are really her peers)

...

now, after graduating from college and being more financially stable, sasha asks if they had any plans on/around anne's bday and if they'd be down to catch up sometime (around anne's bday since ppl may have plans and it's hard to coordinate these things as adults with responsibilities imo LMAO)

they set a date to meet up (after work for anne, marcy has a flexible schedule as mostly a freelancer (maybe she has a side gig alongside her webcomic, unless she's able to do her webcomic full time), and sasha made space in her schedule (maybe just making sure she didn't have clients)), and they do 🥺

as they chat, in some ways it's like nothing had changed (in how easy it was to talk to each other, like no time had really passed) and yet like everything had changed (because it had - they were all subtly different after all those years, even if they were somewhat prepared for the changes from their sporadic updates over the years)

marcy has the lowest alcohol tolerance out of the three of them and becomes a v happy drunk (and surprisingly seems less clumsy?? while drunk), anne has decent tolerance and is a more emotional drunk (she knows her limits and doesn't usually try to get drunk though), sasha has the highest tolerance out of the three and just gets even louder when drunk

anne was sasha's bi awakening way back when (but when she thought about marcy, she realized she felt the same way about her as she did with anne, so.)

(we've seen how marcy saw both anne and sasha in her mindscape lol... not to mention how gay it is to want to go on adventures with your two best friends forever,) (though maybe it took some self-reflection and making new friends to fully realize that those were Gay feelings)

i think anne probably had some mixed feelings about both sasha and marcy for a while, just with everything that happened (but still the overwhelming love and care she feels for them too, no matter what had happened); having some space from what had happened and making new friends is probably a part of what Clicked for her in realizing the depth of her feelings for them vs with other friends

also a bit of that sapphic questioning if how she feels for marcy and sasha is really romantic or not LOL. but also, with everything that's happened and changed between them all, she was happy to like... let it go (/not try and pursue them, just let it be how she realizes she likes girls)

but reconnecting and catching up just rekindled those old feelings again :')

also falling in love with the... newer versions of them, so to speak (since they're not the same as when they first fell in love,)

at some point, they talk about moving in together (you know, for manageable rent.... maybe sasha's current apartment complex kinda sucks and she wanted to find somewhere else, marcy has a full remote job and maybe misses CA weather, anne had been thinking about moving out at some point but things hadn't worked out until... now...?)

whenever they all live together. at some point marcy gets sick but tries to still work on her webcomic and pulls a nozaki ("my hand still remembers...!" but the lines are all shaky LOL), so sashanne force her to get some rest and feed her porridge and such

it's almost surprisingly easy for them to live together, even after all this time (it's because they've lived with college roommates and know how to communicate their needs better)

they each have their own bedroom but eventually some rooms become more of like. an office space, or a gaming/tv space, and they pile onto one bed at the end of the day

cooking: anne makes the best thai food and is all-around the best cook; marcy is more accident-prone but is great at instant pot recipes; sasha is v good at watching nutrition and efficient meals

they have dinner nights and sometimes cook together (depends on their schedules)

i like to think that sashannarcy realize they're basically dating some months in to living together LOL

...

at some point, anne hits up terri and they see about if another portal can be made, even the small one without the gem's power, if only to pass along a message or two (with sasha and marcy, of course)

it's hard to say if the portal ends up anywhere near someone to like, find the message, or even if by then sprig and co. are off to explore the new continent, but still

(or if the portal was only ever able to exist because the gems were in existence lol, like cross-dimensional interaction only existed while the deity allowed it with the gems?? but /shrug tbh. idm this outcome because i think they've made peace with it, even if it hurts 🥲)

they're happy. they'll still run into some problems here and there, as will happen with close interpersonal relationships, but they'll work things out

after all, they still have much of their lives ahead of them :')

1. Who most initiates PDA?

At first, I thought Eddie, but I'm leaning more towards Steve. Eddie, while a naturally touchy person, would definitely need to take some time to get used to the casual physical affection among the party, let alone the pda that comes with a relationship. Steve would take a bit as well, cause of the whole gay thing, and they wouldn't do pda TOO much, cause they're in Hawkins Indiana in the 80s, but Steve would definitely initiate more pda because of his dating history. When they can and when they're comfortable, they're both pretty touchy.

2. Any sleep habits either had to get used to?

Well for one, they both have nightmares out the wazoo. Eddie also just,,,doesn't have a sleep schedule. Sometimes he sleeps, sometimes he doesn't, sometimes he stays up and sleeps late, yadda yadda yadda. It kind of annoys Steve, but he gets used to it eventually.

3. Jealousy issues?

I'm not 100% sure, but I really don't think so. I think Eddie might be jealous of Steve's past flings, but it passes quickly.

4. What’s a Night Out for them?

Neither of them are huge night out fans, considering the fact that the town hates Eddie, but I think once they move out of Hawkins, Eddie manages to convince Steve to go out to gay bars/clubs every once in a while.

5. What’s an evening in for them?

Definitely forcing one another to watch movies that they like. I like to think that their date nights are made up of each of them picking a movie to rent and then watching it together.

6. Double Date? Thoughts? Who?

Nancy and Robin, probably. It turns to Robin and Steve doing their thing, and once they get to know each other, Nancy and Eddie hanging out. They get along better than you'd think.

7. Do they want (have) kids?

Steve does, obviously. It takes some healing and talking, but eventually, Eddie does too. They've got their hands full until the rest of the crew graduates though.

8. Have an AU thought?

Eddie as a tattoo artist and Steve as a florist because I'm a basic bitch.

9. If they got engaged… who proposed?

They can't really get married because it's the 80's, and that really bums Steve out, so Eddie proposes and they have a little ceremony in the Byers' back yard or something.

10. How do they deal with the other’s family?

Eddie has murderous intent. Wayne and Steve watch basketball together. Wayne love Steve.

11. What is their love language?

Eddie's are gift giving and words of affirmation, Steve's are acts of service and physical touch.

12. How Are there communication skills?

In the beginning? BAD. Like, BAD. They hide their nightmares and trauma from one another, and it just builds up until it bursts like a dam. After that, they try their best to communicate better. It's a skill. They try.

13. A little personal… but… Hot and Steamy or Soft and Tender?

I'm not answering this one.

14. How did they first meet?

To me, they met in kindergarten and were friends, but went to different elementary schools and lost touch, forgetting they had met by the time canon happens. I like to think that they rediscover old yearbooks/pictures and see them both.

15. Why do they like each other?

Eddie likes Steve because he is capable of change. In his life, he's met a lot of people who dislike him just because of how he looks/sounds/acts, and Steve used to be one of them. But then he changed and grew and took in new information, which Eddie admires a lot. Steve likes Eddie because he is so steady(steddie ha) in his identity. Eddie knows who he is and is willing to defend it. He's spent so much of his time trying to fit in and be reasonable to others that he really admires Eddie, who can stand by who he is.

16. Who cooks most?

They both cook a lot. Steve learned a lot from being left alone in his house to fend for himself, and Eddie has the skill of making delicious food out of basically nothing down to an art. I think Steve likes cooking more, though.

17. Morning rituals?

Steve almost always wakes up first, and he makes coffee for the both of them. He thinks Eddie uses an ungodly amount of sugar, but he adds it anyways.

18. Evening rituals?

Neither of them sleep much, so they tend to stay up together in bed, reading, drawing, listening to movies/music, etc.

19. How are they at parties or gatherings?

With the show gang, they tend to sit together with the other kids their age (Nancy, Robin, Jonathan, etc.). But at parties with people they meet after they move away, Eddie finds his stride. Steve still tends to sit in corners, nursing a drink and talking to people here and there, but Eddie loves parties, where his personality helps him entertain people like he loves.

20. Most cuddly?

They're both touchy, but I think Eddie is touchy in a very clingy way. He's always hanging off of the people he loves, including Steve.

21. Movie Night?

It's a common date night that they show each other movies that they like. Steve has an incredibly varied movie taste from working at the video store, and Eddie has always been obsessed with sci-fi and fantasy.

22. Who is the photo bug?

I like to think that Steve takes up photography after the whole ordeal as a way of expression. He'll take pictures of anything, but Eddie is his favorite subject.

23. How well do they know each other’s favorite foods?

Steve had a physical list of everyone's favourite foods written down in a notebook with recipes attached. Eddie knows Steve's favourite food, and will make it randomly for no reason.

24. What do their texts look like?

In a modern au, I don't think that Steve would like texting a lot, but he'd be the one to make plans, so he'd have to. Eddie texts about anything and everything, just whatever he thinks of to ramble about.

25. Parenting style?

They both had shitty parents, so they have some bad habits to unlearn, but they're good parents. A bit overbearing, but good.

26. If they have kids, who named them? What would they name them?

They adopt a daughter and name her after Eddie's mom.

27. Who brings home an illegal pet?

Eddie. Do I even need to explain?

28. Who takes the longest getting ready to leave?

They're both chronically late to things that aren't super important, but Steve's hair takes a very long time.

29. Who said I Love You, first?

Steve did. He said it before he meant to while hanging up on a call. They avoided each other for almost a day before their respective best friends got them to talk to each other.

30. When did they realize they liked each other?

Eddie realizes that he maybe likes Steve more than is normal right before he makes his sacrifice (that he does NOT die during, thank you very much). Steve takes longer, realises when he thinks Eddie might be dead. He has a crisis about it.

trying to go through life thoughts

I wrote some thoughts on the l/n starira AU that i am putting here for posterity . mainly .

I don’t really know where to start or how to go into this. I made a comment to frog about how i thought that thematically l/n weren’t too far off, at least with some things. There’s the difference between revue’s focus on selfishness, but i think in a way you can see those as the difference between theatre and music (non-theatre) as art forms. Does that make sense? It’s an interesting part of a band, that the thematic idea of selfishness literally can only go so far—anyone can hope to be the lead in theatre, but a drumset player can’t hope to play the melody (you’re about to pitch your idea for a set of chromatically tuned toms. There’s nothing i can say to you that would stick in your brain).

So that was kind of my general vibe. I felt like there were enough similarities to justify the differences to make it make sense. I was only doing it as a writing exercise and it kind of spiraled. Ppl have talked about how it’s rly hard to revue something else because besides just fun aesthetics for art, it requires upward work to try and justify the occurrences in the AU to make it actually work. So i thought, maybe, it’d be fun to try and work through those thoughts a bit and see what I could come up with.

The most major change of note is that Shiho’s parents work in theatre in some way—it’s super vague and I didn’t want to come up with any concrete answers just because it felt pointless to. One of her parents might be a rinmeikan graduate or a family member was a teacher there or something, hence how they ended up with an old Rinmeiki vhs, and a result of her parents being in theatre means her desire to be a professional musician is switched to a desire to be a professional actor. A lot of what ripples out from there in terms of their childhood is pretty self explanatory: they watch Rinmeiki, put on little plays together just the four of them, and then things fall apart as they grow older.

I wanted to get them relatively close to pjsk canon at the start moreso than starira’s, so the perf department is already closed while they’re in their first year. I think in the context of this story they had more members at the start of the year, but people (upperclassmen) dropped into general education just because they knew the department was going to close down, until it was just Shiho and Ichika. Upperclassmen are only 2nd years, bc the part of my brain that cares too much ab logistics thinks the school would let any third years graduate in their department before shutting it at the end of the year but ANYWAY.

Kanade and Shizuku showing up is just because i needed two people connected to two of our people. I don’t know what school kanade/25ji go to. MMJ are frontier they’re. Idols. I have no idea who frau platin is. Actual answer probably Iori. But instead. Haruhi Minamoto. Fuck you.

There’s a lot about what I did with honami that ends up feeling like favorite character favoritism. And it IS. But it was also tied to the fact she did brass band in middle school, so she’s converted to being the most theatre oriented behind Shiho. Rather than Honami being ostracized for what she is in canon, it’s for acting, which was mainly because i needed a reason for her to quit acting specifically. Centering acting does shift the fact that for both honami and shiho acting becomes the center of their straining relationship with ichika/each other, rather than their interpersonal problems. But revue generally ties personal problems and the stage up together, so i think it’s not an unfair thing to change, and it’s not so much a change for Shiho, anyway.

Also honami’s weapon IS NOT A SCYTHE. It is just a lance. They have pretty boring revue weapons. The scythe joke is ABOUT HER NAME ONLY. IT IS UNFORTUNATE, BUT MERELY COINCIDENCE. WE SHOULD KILL KOCHO SHIZUHA.

The. Story is meant to conceptually cover what would be the school story (partially)+opening arc… a hypothetical main story (which you will never see from me because SCOPE) would large scale consist of them trying to form an official association and performance festival, etc etc etc, alongside their individual character arcs.

As far as the characters, shiho’s follow up would cover um. Obviously. Saki and Ichika have both taken Shiho helping/joining the association to mean that she’s not planning on transferring but that is still very much on the table for her. Only Honami is aware that the . Fights within their group aren’t over yet which is meant to compound with a certain lack of confrontation.

Honami’s would center around that whole revue weapon business, and the sense of regaining her brilliance. There are certain elements that tie into pjsk canon in terms of her (re)finding the confidence to speak her mind and put her foot down more, slowly. I think also as a secondary thing she gets into directing, over time.

Saki’s the most vague in my mind. I think she’s got passion and conviction but a sort of lack of direction, even though those two usually lead to the third. It’s the least developed in my brain so far. There’s also maybe something about her illness, both in terms of recognizing her own limits and acknowledging them, but also in not sidelining herself from going for lead roles, or something.

Ichika sort of lacks a lot as a stage girl initially. In her idea that she has parts of the rest of the group in herself i thought about including some implication that she doesn’t know what she would pass on to the three of them in return, but i couldn’t fit a line in about it without drawing a lot of attention to it, and it would fly under the radar after that revue and not come up again for a while. She’s also still carrying baggage for assuming the fault of the department shutting down.

Point is, when saki and ichika agree about not fighting each other and only facing other schools from now on, they are entirely off base. Things aren’t really fully aligned.

Okay. Now for my least favorite part. I thought revue intros would be fun and now i have to talk about them a little bit briefly. All of them contain an element of their name, alongside. Okay.

Saki’s is a mess well okay that’s not fair they’re all a mess to me . The “Bright skies” in the opening references the her last name, and the reference to blossoms her first name. Hers also overtly. References Rinmeiki.

Shiho’s isn’t tied to rinmeiki at all and the name references are the most vague, but her is very. Situationally accurate and i think remains so. She does the hard carrying for the revue conversion and i think up until the transferring confrontation comes to a head she’s often sort of . Antagonistic in trying to push the rest to either rise to the challenge or give up. “Brilliance pierces through the artificial shades” is the reference to her name. Brilliance standing in for sun and um. Sun piercing through the treetops. Also the final line the use of the word rises.

Ichika’s guided by the light of stars is her name reference, alongside the “melody of our song” thing. Rinmeiki are referenced as well, “against the flow of history” and the thing about her being a hero.

Honami’s is so heavy handed it hurts me and that’s what she gets for being last. She references all four of their names, and doesn’t have a specific Rinmeiki reference.

They also all specifically reference themselves differently. Ichika and Saki as students of rinmeikan, shiho as merely a stage girl, and honami as part of the performance association (which technically doesn’t exist officially when she says that).

I think…that’s kind of everything I’ve got…at least for now. That’s the bulk of it, really, i think. I hope. I don’t know :)

Happy mother's day (late)

Graduated college this week … it's Over but also i felt so disconnected during the last semester bc i was only on campus 2x a week for 1 class, my other class was remote and i was filling credits w an internship. so it's been a soft landing. however i have cried a lot over the last 3 days.

sam called me and was like i cried for the first time in 2 years and i was like holy shit and we talked about our friends we love our friends and how we wished we had been different for a lot of the four years. personally i was just annoying as shit the first three years, but then again i might find my current self annoying next year. he was like "i wish i hadn't been so hell" which sums it up pretty much. but we've both come out of it better and with a clearer understanding of who we are and what we want. no more hell.

went to my last college party last night because i stopped going to emerson stuff. at emerson i felt like everyone thought i was a close friend — that's so not trueee. and so my friend texted me last night and was like where are you you have to come tonight. i said OK. apparently my acquaintances at emerson have started asking where i went. it has gotten to the point though where even kitty and dev my best friends will thank me for going out with them.

on that note: i don't like feeling like i am disappearing, but i am happier just keeping things quiet and close. i know who my friends are (best ppl in world), i am experiencing a healthy relationship for the first time with someone that i care about deeply, i've got a new job that makes me feel excited and treats me well, and we have a perfect cat. and my family lives close by. there isn't much else i can ask for, or room to split up my time anyway. no point exhausting myself so i accidentally disappeared (?) whatever i'm cooling. at least i popped my head in to say hello and goodbye last night. i have a habit of stretching myself too thin so i can please everyone, but i think i'm well on my way to kicking it completely.

the party was shut down half an hour or so after we got there, so dev kat and i went to the bar. we ran into graysen althea ryan and rebekah which was so crazy because i love them all and was trying to catch althea before she went home (we are also seeing each other next week in london but like, that's such a different context). when we all realized the other group was there we were like oh my goddd screaming and jumping up and down. althea and i hugged for like 2 minutes straight and i thought i might knock her over or break my back because we were hugging so tight. and then we walked out when the bar closed and found lily and jesse!!! so fun and cute surprise. being able to feel that sort of excitement when i run into people is so important to a good life AND being able to express that appreciation……… i think graysen and i were like "i love you so much" like at least ten times.

i love my friends. what can i sayyy lol i literally spent my teen years wanting to d*e because i had never felt that sort of platonic love, but all of that changed once i got to college. likeee i am so grateful for my life and everyone everything in it. tacky but true xo

When Owen Jones first came to the British public’s attention, he could authentically be described as a breath of fresh air. His first book, Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working Class, arrived in 2011 and served as a welcome rebuke to the snobbery and cruelty of the Little Britain-inspired Noughties. In his early years as a columnist for The Independent and then The Guardian, Jones was strident but thought-provoking, asking serious questions about class representation in the media and the dominance of elites in British life.

Today is a rather different matter. Jones remains a significant figure, with more than one million followers on Twitter/X and the ability to shape the online debate. When he quit the Labour Party last week, he released the news in a video, podcast and impassioned column in The Guardian. “The Labour Party is in my blood,” he wrote, but Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership had made leftists like him feel like “a pariah”. He encouraged his followers to vote for Green or independent candidates.

And yet, within Labour circles, the most common private reaction to Jones’s highly staged announcement was shrugging surprise that he was still affiliated with the party. He might be able to summon an online mob with a single tweet, but the Jones brand has been sullied by long service in the trenches of the culture wars. Once hailed as the voice of a generation, more than a decade of Twitter spats has made him a darker, angrier — and less interesting — public figure.

So is his apparent descent of his own making, or just a particularly visible sign of what’s happened to politics — and the internet? Jones, 39, was raised in Stockport, the son of a council worker and a university professor, both of whom were active in the Labour Party and its broader movement — including a flirtation with Militant tendency. After graduating from Oxford with a degree in history, he worked briefly as a parliamentary researcher for the Labour MP and future shadow chancellor John McDonnell, before finding success as a columnist.

During Ed Miliband’s years as party leader, from 2010 to 2015, Jones continued to stand out as a voice of the left, campaigning against austerity and its impact on the lives of disabled people, inequality and establishment power. Yet he became an increasingly divisive figure during Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, particularly around the issue of antisemitism. As an unofficial (and undisclosed) adviser to Corbyn, he also became one of the movement’s biggest and most uncompromising media outriders. In 2014, Jones was among the few media defenders of Corbyn being “present but not involved” at a wreath-laying ceremony in Tunisia for terrorists from the group behind the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

To call Jones a lightning rod would be a criminal understatement. Anyone in politics or the media who is a regular user of Twitter has an Owen Jones story, almost all of them negative. To clash with him on the site is to be barraged by personal abuse by his legion of followers, as I have learnt first-hand on several occasions. Being a colleague does not shield you. It is an open secret within The Guardian, where I worked for a period, that its social media rules were changed explicitly to cover Jones’s conduct on Twitter, attacking other staff and freelance writers (often with far smaller followings) at the paper.

Yet Jones also receives abuse in volumes unimaginable to most people, routinely getting thousands of such messages in a day. Such is the antipathy towards him that even when he was attacked in London in a homophobic hate crime in 2019, abuse continued to come his way.

To my mind, Jones has fallen victim to a double pitfall that threatens any social media star: the hatred and trolling directed at him has made him angrier and thinner-skinned; meanwhile, he has become captive to his large and ferocious group of fans.

The presence of a massive and regular audience changes a person, with none of the support networks offered by real celebrity. Social media followers turn on a pin — they are looking for someone to cheer and someone to destroy, and are just as prone as traditional media ever was to build someone up in order to knock them down later. The need builds and builds to keep the fans onside, the number high, to avoid the backlash.

Against that backdrop, it is perhaps easier to see how Jones excuses himself for behaviour for which he routinely castigates others. In the early years of Corbynism, people who had previously been friendly, if not friends, with Jones would plead with him to change how he used Twitter after receiving days of abuse after a negative quote tweet from him — to no avail.

In a book published after Corbyn’s crushing 2019 defeat, Jones acknowledged many of the issues around antisemitism that he had publicly previously denied, provoking unsurprising fury among Labour’s alienated Jewish supporters. Then, sensing his support slipping after that repudiation of Corbyn, Jones all but rejected his own book’s narrative and changed his views again.

It is this politics-as-fandom — a concept explored in I Heart Politics: How People Power Took Over the World, a fascinating new book by the writer Phoenix Andrews — that lets Jones and other “extremely online” personalities explain away these inconsistencies. Once you have good guys and villains, it is set: the good guys change their minds when the facts change, while villains change position for their own cynical advantage. We robustly fight the good fight, whereas they engage in ad hominem attacks. Why engage with anyone else’s ideas when their motivations are so foul?

All of this is a shame and a loss. The debate on the left is increasingly stale and rancorous. There is no refreshing battle of ideas and there is no honest engagement. One cannot pin it on Jones, of course. Instead, he is perhaps the most visible symbol of what the toxic cocktail of political populism and social media fandom has done to everyone who lived through it all.

Allen Ginsberg famously saw the best minds of his generation destroyed by madness. Have we lost ours to Twitter?

it's never something simple with zyx, unfortunately.

let's discuss each of your posited points, but in a chronological order:

(for everything - only if genders are allowed to mix at the cloud recesses audits. let's say they are, and for the purposes of visual media it was just a time saver to animate/illustrate/act the relevant disciples only)

c) lqr, instead of beefing w/ wwx in the lecture, grills rogue!zyx. but this is 100% something that any zyx cannot stand: trivia. knowledge that is pure fact but in a way that is of little relevance to matters of importance. think about all the questions that lqr asked wwx: they deal with other sects, history, etiquette - but the first real cultivation question was about the executioner. and even that, he expected a rote answer.

(this is me and my total antipathy for fanboying in aerospace - i was nearly scared off from my field bc i didn't know what fucking airplane or what fucking mission or whatever the fuck ppl talked about and gushed about. it's all trivia. i was in it for the physics and the math.

but i also understand now that to discuss a field properly, there is need to understand its 'culture' and background context. just... not to the fucking extent of memorizing the entire timeline just to show off you know this thing when clearly, you only know it at the most shallow level that is of zero utility -)

and they all forget that for whatever reputation that rogue!zyx developed as bssr's 'bamboo fairy' disciple, she was all on her own before they even heard of her. she isn't stupid.

so all the shit she said to wwx in dbd, ch11 in the library? imagine the derision at the lack of nuance, the assumptions, the brute force, the inelegant manner in which all canon parties handled that hypothetical. and that derision comes out uncensored, out loud, in public, in the most bitchy-yet-formal manner that rogue!zyx can muster. it harkens back to when she had to deal with the dumbest 'gotcha!' questions at a conference, someone looking to trip up a poor, underpaid graduate student and she's had plenty of experience stopping those ego trips.

she answers lqr in general. rips apart both lwj and wwx's answers. destroys the other auditors' assumptions on what it means to actually know cultivation and have more than two working braincells that rub together to produce body heat.

after the first day...

lqr: furious, and more furious for the reluctant respect that rogue!zyx managed to dredge out of him. an academic can recognize a fellow academic

lwj: pissed off at the blatant disrespect and disregard for proper cultivation, someone playing fast and loose with their traditions (instilled due to the inherent dangers of cultivating, let alone improperly), the fact that the boy he found himself head-over-heels for had his attention stolen away in a single moment

wwx: he doesn't get pissed off so easily, and he's the type to learn with multiple shocks of the electric fence. someone reaming him out doesn't scare him away, and in such a manner and on such a subject? he's hooked. he has to talk to her, he has to gain her respect (no romantic/lust crush on rogue!zyx in this au, but definitely a huge brain-crush)

a) rogue!zyx has less to prove in this au. so her metaphorical clenched buttcheeks are less tense, and she's more willing to engage and discuss things w/ wwx. but only if he pisses her off enough to talk.

bc HOT DAMN he's fucking annoying. and endearing. he... he reminds her so much of one of her best friends pre-death, this friendship that only started once both of them saw past the original misconceptions that they held of each other. this friend was also fucking brilliant, ran his mouth off without stopping, had great and ridiculous humor, was the best workout buddy... and fuck, she just missed everyone. it was easy to let go on the mountain, where everything was so fucking placid and unchanging that it felt like nothing mattered.

but wwx was like an explosion of color. sometimes, it hurt rogue!zyx's lizard eyes to look at something so bright.

b) lwj is less likely to engage rogue!zyx. she's not a musician, she doesn't care for the arts, she's basically an unwashed slob on her regular days and a passable young milkmaid on her best days - young lwj would be nowhere near someone of her... everything.

she can feel judgment, though - and like how in dbd she's super prickly towards wwx for his initial flash judgment of her, rogue!zyx wants nothing to do with lwj.

yeah... what is she doing here?? her last experiences with schooling were the complete anarchy of college. she literally can walk out of any lecture that she doesn't fucking have to take.

How does Kevin react when he meets Dalton’s friends? How do they react to him?

OOOOO THIS IS FUN

so let’s introduce dalton’s friends to YOU GUYS first. i’ll give a little description of each to help visualize the gang

jenna. short, childhood friend but lived across him and his roommate freshman year of college.

emmie. tall, idk met at a party or smth it’s college cmon u can become friends w ppl bc of anything

sam. average height idk u choose, freshman year roommate.

nate. average height, became friends 3 yrs ago? maybe they’re in graduate school tg.

reid. tall, became best friends sophomore year.

reid and jenna are his closest friends. jenna is very protective of her little (big. very big. she’s literally 5′2 and barely reaches his shoulder bc he’s literally 6′4 pls) baby dalton. she’s kind of like an andrew except she’s not a violent shortie she’s just a very energetic shortie.

kevin doesn’t meet them until october, when they’ve been together for a month. at this point he hasn’t told dalton about his abuse and his past, and he’s hoping to god that dalton’s friends don't bring up riko or the ravens.

they don’t. thank god.

mainly because the first time he meets them is at an exy game. he and dalton have been dating for three weeks by then, and like always, kevin had offered his family seats to them.

he comes around before warm ups, and dalton grins. “hey.” kevin leans over to hug him. he props his racquet up. “are these your friends?”

“in the flesh!” a short girl at his side pipes up. “not gonna lie, i don’t know how dalton scored someone on a sports team.”

“especially kevin day- i mean, sorry, dude, but you’re fuckin awesome.” jenna elbows another boy, nate, at her side. kevin remembers him from the first game dalton came to. “what?”

“you’re embarrassing.”

“it’s fine.” kevin purses his lips. “what are you doing after?”

dalton shrugs. “i think just going jenna and em’s after this. will you come?”

kevin nods. “if we win.”

“if you wanna stay over tonight, you’ll win.” dalton raises an eyebrow. emmie reaches around one of the boys and punches his arm.

“gross! i heard that!”

when kevin leaves, the group all despite dalton and emmie are left a little open mouthed. emmie is just as clueless about sports as dalton is, and while none of them besides reid have really gone to an exy game at their school (because they’d sucked for so long), they all agree they’ll be going from then on. reid collapses in his seat. “i can’t believe my best friend is dating kevin day.” he grabs dalton’s arm. “dude... you’re dating kevin day. how the fuck did you not realize that when you met him?!”

dalton shrugs with a grin.

nate snorts. “imagine how i felt when dalton just goes oh, wanna go to the exy game with me to see my boyfriend? and then his boyfriend is kevin day.”

emmie pats dalton’s arm. “it’s okay, bud. i still don’t know who he is.”

and the three boys, sam reid and nate, all lean forward to look at her. “what?”

they win. by a lot.

kevin isn’t nervous about going to the girls place until he’s walking up and knocking on the door. his friends have to like him. if they don’t, that’s five against one, and he really doesn’t want to lose dalton yet.

jenna answers the door, nearly half his height, and side hugs him. “kevin! kevin’s here! oh my god, you guys did so good tonight- hey, is neil josten single?” what?

“uh, no, he's taken.”

jenna pouts, but then dalton shows up around the corner to wisk his boyfriend away. “okay, so my friends are all kind of drunk right now, so we don't have to stay if it makes you uncomfortable.”

but there’s not much anymore that sways him, so they stay. dalton sticks to his side because he's also drunk, and sam at one point reigns him in to play beer pong. sam drinks for both of them. he almost passes out on the couch afterwards.

reid, who hadn’t said a word to him all night, calls him over after their game. he throws an arm around kevin's shoulder. “dalton’s my best friend, yeah? that means when something bad happens to him, i feel like i kinda feel it, too. he can be a gentle soul, so he gets it bad. that being said, me and my girlfriend broke up two months ago, and i really don’t wanna have to go through another heartbreak any time soon. do you see where i’m getting at?”

if this wasn’t one of dalton’s friends, he’d laugh a little. reid isn’t too intimidating. he’s seen worse. “i’m not going to break his heart.”

reid claps his shoulder and lets his arm drop. “good. if you did, i’d have to kill ya.”

kevin thinks he’d end up okay. he nods, and joins his boyfriend again.

the next day, dalton sends him a text after practice. my friends approve of u mr. kevin day

aha funny, jenna’s meeting me for lunch. wanna join?

okay not my best one, i’m not gonna lie i didn’t know exactly where i wanted this to go LOL. overall, kevin doesn’t get that nervous when meeting people that he doesn’t think will make a difference. and when they’re people who could make a difference, for example in his relationship, he has this tendency to not think into it until the last second, leaving himself feeling underprepared. but he makes out well with dalton’s friends. mainly because at first they’re impressed with him bc of exy, but then eventually because they genuinely think and know he’s good with dalton.

some thoughts on aizawa & mic’s retirement:

• they get several holidays a year and at least half of them are spent abroad. mic always turns down the camping trip invites or any vacations that involve being out in the woods, but if momo and the girls invite them to menorca to her villa by the beach or todoroki is having everyone over for a couple weeks at his lodge in the alps then both of them get to join, all expenses paid

• it’s rare if they aren’t going out for dinner in the week. mic is very active in the UA graduates group chat so if he isn’t inviting ppl over he and aizawa are being invited out

• neither of them have to cook often bc their kids are always dropping by saying ‘i accidentally made a bit too much of this so please help yourself’ as they hand over entire three course meals in pyrex dishes that were definitely made especially for them and not by accident at all

• aizawa actually has a lot more energy in his forties and fifties than he ever did in his twenties and thirties. he attributes this mostly to the amount of holidays they spend in hot countries where the warm weather perks him up and helps with his chronic pain, but he also eats a lot better now that he has the time to slow down and enjoy food

• they have photo albums teaming with pics of them and the kids and sometimes it makes mic emotional to see the difference in how aizawa looks. in all of the more recent ones taken on vacation or at parties he’s always smiling and having fun compared to how serious and oblivious he looks in older ones

• over the years they have both been asked to walk a few of their former students down the aisle and aizawa has even been made godfather to several babies (all of those babies were in fact cats bc his kids know there’s no one more trustworthy to babysit them than their favourite feline fanatic)

• they both keep every birthday card and get well card they’ve ever been sent by their kids. they keep wedding invites and group photos and valentine’s cards from each other and aizawa definitely keeps the ‘will you be my godfather?’ cards. (those are actually his favourite bc there’s always a picture of the kitten he’s being asked to accept godfatherhood to on the front)

• mic still does his radio show and is pretty active during the day as opposed to aizawa who is more than happy to stay home watching TV with the cats or spending idle hours in local cafés reading, but neither of them would call retirement boring. they’re actually more sociable and happy than they’ve ever been

• despite the number of their old students that lead a pro hero lifestyle, no one is ever too busy to stop by and check in on the pair and when mic is out during the day, someone is always available to drive aizawa to places he wants to go or to take him to doctor and therapist appointments. neither of them would ever ask that of their kids but if someone finds out that they need help getting from a to b they can’t ever convince them it’s not necessary

• they actually never owned any cats before now. aizawa had always said it was too irresponsible to take in an animal given the fact they were scarcely home, but now that’s not an issue anymore they have six cats and counting. all rescues, too

• though they occasionally still take on hero work if it’s specifically requested, the pair of them are quite content to put their quirks to rest and enjoy their lives with the hero aspect removed. mic continues to be a popular radio host and aizawa has been looking forward to retirement from very early on, so to finally feel like they’ve done their bit for future generations is enough for them to believe they deserve this, and their kids wouldn’t let them think otherwise for even a second

ciannán o’donnell is a flighty man, one of many relationships and flings and little loyalty, and so his affair with maeve fletcher does not last long. when she tells him she is pregnant, he moves on to a different woman, and maeve has her son alone, with her sister on her side. and thus, mundungus is born (and giving an arguably atrocious name).

he grows up with his mum – a halfblooded witch and by far his favourite person in the world – in limerick, attending muggle school there. he knew who his dad was, but wasn’t quite sure how to feel about — his father is a criminal, a prominent member of the irish mob.

he meets his dad for the first time at age seven, and was nothing but impressed. his dad showered him with gifts, his mum watching with a furious look on her face but biting her tongue. that moment was a switch for mundungus; he felt the need to impress his dad. he stole some sweets from a store on his way home from school a week later, fished some pennies out of the pockets of his classmates a few months later. when he phoned his dad to tell him, his laugh was warm and filled with life. his relationship with his dad got better as his behaviour got worse. the thrill of stealing, of doing stuff he wasn’t supposed to, lit him not only on fire because it was exciting, but also because he knew his dad would adore it.

but ciannan, a flighty man, pushes and pulls. and so mundungus was fed disappointment by his father, liking love off a shiny knife rather than a spoon ( silver or plastic, what the fuck does it matter ). details omitted, long story made short: his dad sucks and his mother tries, but mundungus is pulled towards that what smells of danger.

DRUGS MENT. at hogwarts, dung is sorted into ravenclaw. not at all the booksmart type, he falls more into the chaotic-creativity, random-bursts-of-wanting-to-learn-everything-about-something type of ravenclaw. there’s two worlds, then: the muggle world, where he slowly dips his water further in criminal waters, and the wizarding one, where he’s chaotic and messy but a student. when he grows older, these overlap: dung starts selling some of his dad’s weed at hogwarts, and soon gains a reputation of being able to get people less-than-legal shit.

not getting high off your own supply is not a sentiment he agrees with. not then, not later, not now. dung is fun, always in for a party and willing to supply the goods to throw it. if some rich purebloods lose a few galleons at said party, well, it sure isn’t him! END OF TW

he graduates with two newts, in herbology and potions, failing his dada and charms exams. he’s not an academic.

falling into the family business after graduation is easy. mundungus is attracted by the criminal underworld, both that of muggle ireland and that of the wizarding world. knockturn alley was a place frequented in teenage years, but now becomes more his place. he makes connections, exchanges strange potion recipes for other things. makes an odd wager on a bunch of stolen brass scales and turns a profit.

a career is not something that interests him; he is more interested in bending rules and making quick money. thievery, selling illegal shit, heists, fraud, fuck-all. mundungus is not limited by one descriptor, one kind of criminality. he just does what he wants and hopes to make a good penny.

but then he almost gets sent to azkaban over some, in his frank opinion, bullshit. it’s dumbledore who talks the wizengamot out of it, saddling dung up with some community service and persuading him towards the order. he’s twenty three. the war is still fresh. he has no interest in it, but he owes the old man. fine.

mundungus does vehemently oppose blood purity and any kind of discriminatory ideals, an anarchist in his very bones, but he is also cowardly. to side with self-proclaimed rebels is not in his blood and yet it’s where he ends up, bringing shady ties to the underworld to the table and a sheer ability to sneak around and fuck the law. and maybe, amidst the ranks of the order, dung finds something he’s not very familiar with: a large family. and dung? well, he’s the stoner, gay, super-fucking-chaotic cousin.

Thank You.......yeah idk really what hc's i've like "officially" described here that often lol, but then also there's that whole complication where i don't really ever come up with ideas & when asked anything i'm probably going [???] like, classics like "what do you like out of [broad parameter]" & it's like damn....i dunno. what ideas do i have about winsotn who i've thought about every day for > 2 yrs??? that's tough.....& Then the further chaos of like, when i do have hc's or w/e it's less discrete, concrete invented ideas & more towards the end of the spectrum that's like "well i kinda interpret this part of canon vaguely this way" &/or "i have This vague notion that i haven't solidified into a pretend fact or that i'm not at all committed to or take that seriously" where it's like, not only is this not really nailed down but it's basically free floating / i might have other ideas that would contradict each other lol. seems like a more concise list of Stats that are fully/exclusively my ideas is more exciting, but instead i can offer vague "i dunno / what ifs" based on vibes that i verbosely describe lmao, plus i'll forget a bunch of ideas i may have had i'm sure but you know. what else have i ever offered; never really trying to sell this material to otherwise uninterested parties or only make posts that guaranteed more than one person might enjoy, why would i be starting now; and ig if i write a bunch of stuff here & go "oh & i forgot like a half dozen obvious things" i can add on to it if it's a big deal.....plus it's always tricky with billions in particular being vague abt its own characters lmao, we only see [outside of work] personal stuff if it's going to become directly tied to [definitely at work] professional plotlines, or Maybe glimpse some character contextualizing things for the more central characters....side characters have more blanks to fill but also that means. just more that's blank lol & kinda a mystery of Up To Interpretation.....i figured one way to have any structure for this at all is to have a part looking at each winston involving episode's info. well anyways, after this meandering intro that kind of illustrates how i'm sure the rest of things will go here lol, i'm just gonna throw a bunch of stuff down in general. thanks again for the prompt to do so, b/c why not

really the one concrete discrete idea i have which isn't in the canon text is, of course: he is autistic

does he Know? idk. either way, think he's pretty aware of how he operates (& how he Can't operate), but if he doesn't know that's probably more for the "also: he's self loathing, which was basically textually implied" stuff lol. just mentioned it but i do always enjoy the tayston idea that taylor's talking abt in the past having it floated by a therapist/s or whomever that they could be autistic, them considering it but it not applying; winston going "hmm" & doing his own considering & researching & then maybe exclusively sharing the news w/taylor....but of course, maybe he's figured it out himself at some point before. i do think he'd figure it out himself though rather than anyone else directly suggesting it (maybe out here being diagnosed with "just the guy who sucks who we don't like / won't act right or normal" sort of usual experience) & i think, if he knows, he's not about to want ppl at work to know, b/c not as though anyone (but taylor & other quants) particularly seems to be impressed by his quanting proficiency, but he sure gets some validation/affirmation through that route (more re: that of course) and knows that ppl going "oh he's autistic so of course he's better at Doing Math / computer stuff as a like, mechanical efficiency sort of thing" or whatever. and the fact that taylor can interact with him / gives him some leeway to generally do his thing means he's kind of already got space to operate how he operates, see the start of this section....and idk. transitioning into the next section ig

just an Interpretation Of Canon thing here but, re: how these characters generally operate & what their reason is for being around doing stuff in the first place, i guess it's that winston does genuinely like to do & is interested in the math/coding stuff involved here, was also genuinely interested in working for taylor specifically (whatever The Hype specifically was), then you have taylor having the "despite your demeanor, your skills are superior" stance & appreciating what he can do & letting him do it by hiring him for real & all, & here we are, Q is for Quantitative, baby......he must find it rewarding enough to be getting to do this quanting stuff and also, the potential for validation when anyone recognizes he's good at it & by extension finds something about him good & wants him around to any degree

okay just that Episode By Episode stuff for a section here

3x03:

kinda extra room for interpretation b/c this was written as a one off character and reintroducing him in 3x09, written to be recurring, feels like it kinda offers a Soft Reboot for what we got here, where i guess how i take things is that we can suppose in both 3x03 & 3x09 winston's putting on a deliberate Performance to some degree based on what he thinks the potential employer wants to see, but it's also not completely fake / inaccurate either time, & like, maybe the 3x03 vibe wasn't a type of performance he'd only just ever put on for this axe cap interview, & even if it was deliberately bold maybe he was sort of thinking he Could bank on his value as a quant meaning he holds most of the cards (or can get away with acting like it)

building on that & as a More General point of interpretation again: think it's easy to suppose winston could've had an existence w/many elements of frustrations & disappointments & Rejection, but where like, he did figure out these areas of interest & proficiency that seemed to be a more positive force in his life, & leaned into them / focused on them further for it, & i could see him focusing on milestones / graduating from one thing to the next & conceptualizing like, well, if i just get to This point by working on This thing then i'll have it together & be able to move through existence more successfully, like, there's winston going into undergrad & kind of disappointed he's not having that good a time socially / feels like he's missing out / being left out still, but he can be like, well that's fine (: i'm totally fine abt it b/c i'm focusing on the Education & Experience here & when i'm entering the job market as an amazing quant anyone would want to hire then ppl will be seeing me in a positive light & things will fall into place / go great for me / i'll feel like i fit in & am doing things right within some structure. & i think maybe he Did have all those other job offers / opportunities & he was at least partly feeling a bit "objectively" confident, & also maybe just hoping he Could be that confident & that, you know, if he goes ahead & acts like that's the case, it could be confirmed / become true....anyways then obviously disillusionment time

since his outfits are introduced here: more "just how i'm interpreting canon" stuff in that i do just suppose he is mostly focusing on comfort & it'd kinda get in the way of things if he couldn't. flipflops might've been a statement piece but also i figure at least in part about the comfort / lack of much opportunity for restriction or ill fit or chafing texture or anything, same goes re: pants & shirts. interesting he likes to wear the patterned layers but doesn't really wear like, stripes or plaid ever. plus it could well be that Just A Tee is too informal unless you're the formalest of all by virtue of position, i.e. the ceo, but also we sure often enough see him wearing hoodies &/or multiple layers, like, maybe that's just for warmth or weight or what have you, always considering "what if it's about being self conchy as well (different way of saying self conscious)"

3x09:

so yeah with winston not having taken another job (at least maybe only like, temporary ones as these self contained gigs / just something to pay the bills) figure it's been a Depressive Period for him here lol & deliberately going on a journey of like self reflection / examination & going "haha yeah hated what i saw" is like, i don't think the self loathing is anything new, the confidence in 3x03 kind of an optimistic bandaid lol like well here's the new me as i understand / hypothesize / hope he could be, totally confident in being backed up by how valuable he is as a quant, then taylor kind of ripped that off and wound's open again but that wound was also not brand new or something he was unaware of / that didn't affect him before now

re: math meetup, i can see that being him presenting more evidence of his talent as a quant but also specifically going "see, i do this collaborative thing" to present this more conciliatory and cooperative approach to taylor, & am also taking it as evidence that he really does Enjoy math / coding stuff beyond it simply being a means to a professional end. i also like to think he has been / continues going to math meetup regularly, at least once a month, maybe every other week, and that it's this semi social event, like the relevant irl group you found back in the day that like, meets up for pizza before and drinks afterwards. i also like to think that, like, while he might come off as A Bit Much during said math meetup / just speak up frequently enough and often enough with some insistence lol, people Are there to meet up about the math and his contributions Are valued despite if his delivery/approach isn't always endearing or whatever. and even if he's not really popular / warmly embraced in the more [socializing event] bookends of the meetup, he's perfectly tolerated, and there's even a person or two or three (also regular attendees) who do vibe with him enough to like, invite / even want him to sit with them / talk with them outside that Math Setting. math meetup pals, maybe he doesn't meet up with these people outside these events but maybe they have each other's contacts and sometimes text. not these intimate personal relationships, but still something real and positive and refreshing. it'd be nice if math meetup could kinda be like what he hoped for from quanting, this way his math lets him "qualify" to access this group / activity, his aptitude "making up for" perceived lack of interpersonal / social charm & charisma & what have you, & having some reliably friendly people around even if of course that's not on its own going to mean he's totally socially fulfilled / not often lonely or anything. hc: he's often lonely & not totally socially fulfilled

he does, of course, want to work for taylor specifically, as long as they want him to, and this is sort of his second chance to find validation through working as a quant lol. think that yeah sure winston likes validation in general, who doesn't but also of course he's maybe a bit Above Average sensitive to / keen on it, but he'll also care about Affirmation if it's coming from people whose opinion he particularly values. think that it's easy to suppose he's also especially sensitive to taylor's assessments here thanks to the fact they really hit a (raw) nerve with him like, sure is the potential to get caught up in feedback loop city & say, have a few months mired in self loathing & an especial lack of certainty & confidence, if someone's kinda gone "i hate your self hatred" lol, but he also Did have this especial interest in / high opinion of taylor before that 3x03 interview, & so that's what continues to be part of it here

but then also interpreting that second 3x09 scene as like, he Does independently Know His Value as a quant and yknow not only has his pride but also can't and isn't going to first and foremost focus on trying to socially perform being peak Accommodating and Appealing here lol. but he still cares about what taylor thinks, wants to work for/with them, and i think it was Mutually Appreciated in the last scene that there was Mutual Effort to cooperate w/the other, giving him a Cue instead of just being mad & obfuscating it unless & until giving up on him completely or w/e is Constructive. interpreting winston as someone who sure can be a bit petty on purpose, especially in the face of some wounded pride (where he seems to take pride in his quant abilities & maybe not much of anything else: see the self loathing otherwise), but isn't really one to be deliberately antagonistic, especially not towards, yknow, the person he specifically wants to appeal to, but he also knows he can come off as grating whether inadvertently or not, so he might be testing the waters a little as well

he's using headphones even though no one else is in the room, that's a preference / he may also just like to block out other sound in general, as there's no audio of [winston's music faintly playing as / before he takes off his headphones] or indication he paused anything. does he like metal, what with the yngwie malmsteen reference? maybe, but that might just be a Billions Reference thing that isn't meant to indicate much / anything abt the specific character. i don't have any hcs about it anyways besides "okay" if so

first time we see his watch, it's not the calculator watch until s5 but i am a fan of said calc watch....gotta suppose it could represent him being here for the math of it all, what with how fancy/expensive watches are kinda the whole like status / power play thing, and a calculator watch is, afaik, not expensive, these casio calculator watch listings i'm seeing are all priced like, $15 to $25 range. so.

IT WON’T BE UP ANY TIME SOON but I’m writing a fic about Andrew visiting Renee’s for winter break in his final year of college in which he’s forced to spend the week sharing a space with Jean.

Over the course of said week, they form a tentative alliance that’s essentially that We’re Not So Different You And I bit by John Mulaney

Anyway, that’s like mid-way through Andrew’s fourth year. They don’t speak again until a little before Andrew’s graduation. The Foxes have just won the Championships they made it to finals last year and lost the last game :’( and so they’re having a party. Andrew needed some air so he stepped outside and, a little while later, he hears footsteps on the porch behind him. Jean sits down, leaving some space between the two of them so as not to crowd Andrew, and just sort of slides a piece of paper over. Andrew keeps up his cool guy facade for a while, assuming Jean will break first. He does.

“Would you just look at it?” Jean snarled. Andrew flicked him a cool look before, picking up the paper painstakingly slowly. He held it up to his own face, not bothering to actually read it. “Illiterate too, I see.” Andrew could barely keep the scowl off his face. He squinted at the stack of papers he picked up.

“Why?” he asked.

“Our goalkeep is, how you say? A piece of shit.”

“You’re giving him more credit than he deserves,” Andrew cut in, his lips curling in a sneer.

“I’m getting tired of being the last line of defense. It’s hard not having anyone to watch your back,” Jean said, shooting a meaningful look at Andrew. He elected to ignore it in favor of taking another drag of his cigarette. Jean muttered something that sounded like a curse before standing up and disappearing back into Abby’s house.

A month later, Jean stepped out of his apartment wondering which horrid little monsters the Cardinals had signed now. Turning towards the stairs, he found his answer waiting for him.

“There’s no point in both of us driving down there. You make breakfast and I’ll drive,” the gremlin said. It wasn’t an offer or even a demand. He said it as though he were stating a fact.

“The arrogance of Americans never fails to amaze me,” Jean shot back.

“You’ve got dual citizenship, Frenchie. I’m sorry to say it, but that makes you one of us.” With that, the little monster turned on his heel and headed down the stairs. Jean muttered a steady stream of curses as he followed Andrew out to the Maserati

Having Andrew on his team is literally the worst. All he ever does is laze around. Sometimes, he’ll just lay down in the middle of the goal and stare at the ceiling. Jean gets a lot of shit for it bc he’s the one that recommended him for the line. It’s the day of their first game and tensions are high at practice when Jean loses his temper. He picks up an exy ball and hurls it at Andrew. Without even looking up, Andrew catches it with one hand. He stands slowly and throws it back so fast that Jean doesn’t have time to react. The ball wedges itself into the grate of his helmet, the force of it knocking him off his feet. Everyone assumes that Andrew isn’t going to play that night or will just be his asshole self but, when Jean finds himself struggling to hold the line, Andrew gets sent out and he’s an absolute monster in the goal. Every shot that comes his way gets deflected all the way down the court. The last goal of the night is made in the final seven seconds when Andrew slams a shot all the way down the court into the opposing goal. It lights up red and the crowd loses their shit. Exhausted, Jean collapses on the floor.

“It’s hard not having anyone to have your back,” Andrew said as he passed by. By the time Jean found his voice, Andrew was already gone. Catching a ride home with one of the strikers, Jean felt a tightness in his chest. Andrew was an annoyingly lazy little bastard but Jean should have trusted him.

Jean doesn’t know how to apologize. Words are wasted on the likes of Andrew so he says nothing. He wakes early to make breakfast the next morning and says a silent prayer. Andrew is never late to anything but, when 6:30 rolls around and he isn’t there Jean’s heart plummets. He leaves the plate out on the counter while he eats. The ticking of the clock is deafeningly loud. At 6:47 there’s a knock at the door and Jean nearly faceplants in his hurry to answer it.

“Your food’s gone cold,” Jean blurted out. Andrew turned a glare on him but said nothing as he shouldered his way into the apartment. Dark circles rimmed his eyes. His shoulders sagged, weighed down by exhaustion. There was no way he’d gotten a wink of sleep last night.

“Moreau,” a voice said from the door. Jean whipped around to see Matt Boyd standing at the door. How he’d missed such a tall person standing in his doorway, Jean didn’t know. “Mind if I come in?” Jean stepped aside and Matt moved in.

“Are you hungry?” Jean asked, haltingly. Boyd was the starting backliner for the Virginia Cavaliers, a whole state over. What the hell was he doing here?

“I could eat,” Matt said brightly. He grabbed hold of a chair and dragged it over to where Andrew sat.

“Not out of my plate,” Andrew snapped when Matt made to steal his eggs. Jean made his way to the kitchen to fix a third plate. From the dining room he could hear Andrew’s voice and Boyd’s laughter. Handing the plate over to him, Jean took his seat at the far end of the table. For the next quarter of an hour, Boyd rambled on about something or the other. If you asked Jean what he’d talked about, he wouldn’t have been able to say. He was far too absorbed in watching Andrew.

The usual tension that pervaded his form had fallen away. Despite the obvious lack of sleep, Andrew seemed far more relaxed than usual. Every now and again, Jean saw his lips twitch up into the barest hint of a smile. From what he’d heard, Andrew had never had a good relationship with any of his teammates save Josten. But that made sense. Neil was his lover. What was it about Boyd that softened him so much?

As soon as breakfast was finished and the plates cleaned, Jean disappeared back into his room to grab his phone. By the time he’d returned, both Andrew and Boyd were gone from the dining room. Jean found the pair blocking the open door. He stopped short when he heard Boyd’s voice.

“I’ve missed you so much, Andy.” His words shook Jean to his core.

“Yes or no?” Andrew asked quietly. Jean watched in stunned silence as Matt leaned down, mumbling yes a hair’s breadth away from Andrew’s lips. The second the word left his mouth, Andrew closed the distance between them. A soft moan slipped from Boyd’s lips and Jean watched in horror as he tangled his hands in Andrew’s hair. “Stop staring, Moreau,” Andrew said as he broke the kiss.

“I thought that you and Josten-”

“We are,” Andrew cut in dismissively. “Matt is too.”

“Oh,” was all Jean could think to say. Back at the Nest, there had been no exclusive relationships. While most relationships in the real world weren’t like that, Jean had heard there were still a few. Boyd said his goodbyes before heading down the hall to the back stairwell. Andrew started off in the other direction. Jean had to run after him once he’d locked the door. Neither of them spoke in the car. They never did but there was a weight to the silence now that Jean didn’t know what to do about. A thousand small talk topics flitted through his head but he knew Andrew wouldn’t appreciate any of it so he kept his mouth shut, contenting himself to stare out the window.

Jean is ready to run by the time that they pull up at the court but he doesn't. He needs to prove that he’s going to have Andrew’s back so he stays with him.

It’s kind of awkward for a while. Andrew doesn’t like having Jean towering over him from behind bc it makes him feel vulnerable so he’s always really tense.

The turning point in their relationship is when a striker from another team tries to start a twitter feud with Andrew. He gets asked about it in an interview and the interviewer pulls a Kathy Ferdinand and reveals that the striker is backstage. Jean is sitting with Andrew for the interview and when they try to start shit live on air, Jean snaps. He cuts the striker a new one, roasting them within an inch of their life and the interview is forced to end bc the striker throws a punch. Andrew steps in front of Jean, catching the punch with ease and judo flipping them.

Neither of them really acknowledge that it happened but, when Andrew comes to breakfast the following Monday, he brings a loaf of sweet bread that he baked over the weekend.

Things kind of settle after that. Sometimes Andrew leaves recipes for foods he wants and Jean starts filling their silences with something other than the news. He complains about Americans and moons over Jeremy and starts teaching Andrew French too.

Jean has his own tiktok and most of his vids are of himself cooking and have Andrew reacting at the end but there’s a few subsections tho. One of them is Andrew and Jean and their baking escapades. It’s always super messy. Another is their ‘date nights’. On the weekends, the two of them get a little extra dressed up and go out to sample new restaurants. They’re both massive foodies so they like to try new restaurants together. Andrew is a surprisingly picky eater and listening to him critic food is the most Jean has ever heard him speak. Platonic dates are actually incredibly nice n more ppl need to indulge in them.

The final subsection is fashion/makeup. Jean likes to do makeup bc… why not? Sometimes, he manages to convince Andrew to let him be his model and does some really interesting looks on Andrew. Those videos never see the light of day but it’s something they do and it’s very important to Andrew. There’s something very intimate about letting Jean touch his face for hours on end but it also kind of feels nice. Also he loves the way Neil and Matt fawn over him when he skypes them with his makeup done. The fashion videos, however, do go up. The two of them go to the mall p often and take turns styling each other. They do style challenges too where they’re both given the same horrible item (something like crocs or a really ugly sweater) and they have to make the other person look good in them.

They do little nice things for each other. When Neil has a game against Bluefield, Jean gets Andrew front row tickets for him and manages to convince Matt to come down too. Andrew learns how to make french pastries that he leaves on Jean’s counter pretty often bc it reminds him of home. He also gets Allison to help him pull some strings and arrange for Jean to spend Christmas break in France with Jeremy. Jean doesn’t cry but he does tear up a little bit.

Andrew is still a menace and you see that on his tiktok. He rigs ridiculous pranks like setting up a tripwire to dump glue and feather on him or wrapping all his stuff in plastic wrap.

ONF UNIVERSITY AU

A/n : ok this is just the first (?) elaboration of the au. This is also meshed with senpai au. I actually already had a few moodboards (Yuto and Minseok ones) and a senpai AU of Seungjoon that opened up the idea, its just i did not have the time and luxury to expand the au. Another reason was that timing i am still learning about ONF so I don't want to go too OOC on things I am not familiar with.

To keep it short, the boys actually formed a dance club and they named themselves ONF

I do said dance club but if you wanna utilise it like F4 from meteor garden, it totally flexible

Also totally doable if you wanna use the university au as the main worldbuilding for other AU, examples, Sibling AU, or any BF headcanons I have mentioned like the MTL for PDA. MTL to confess and MTL to leave hickies, so do check out masterlist (that is constantly updating )

Also, even though it might retcon some setting I have already done, but it is totally doable for University AU to be the prequel for Office AU.

OH HEADS UP, FOR THIS AU I AM ALTERING THEIR AGE. Their real life age difference are about 4-5 years which is unrealistic to fit for the au, so shrink age difference to 1-2 years.

Hyojin : Probably musical student but if we were to jump out from stereotype,I do feel him studying marketing (analysts side)

OK if this boy does not finish his assignments in the cafeteria, then he is not Kim Hyojin lol. Constantly munching something while he trying to finish assignment or solve a problematic question

Even if Seungjoon drags him to library to do assignments . HYOJIN DEFO GONNA MAKE EXCUSE TO BUY BEVERAGE FOR THE 2 OF THEM AND SNEAKS OUT FOR A SHORT WHILE.

The type that try his best on getting good results on every class. But he never brags about it.

Should we give him a senpai au plot, I would write him as the senpai you have a crush on since high school and you did not know he attend the same university as you.

Changyoon : Design student for sure😉 Interior design, graphic design or even fashion design. Oh! Film Director also not bad? (I mean he has loads of ideas and thoughts also let's not forget about Incomplete MV)

Ppl which are not in their circles would be like, "how did you even get along with the others?" Because his majors are very different compared to the other 6

Hmm I do feel it is more like Changyoon did not make the first move to join the group. Probably the Capricorns/ENFPS (Seungjoon or Jaeyoung)

So maybe he kinda drop by to a short marketing class so that he can gain insight on how advertisements film can grasp audience heart. There he either met Hyojin or Seungjoon (maybe both) ,then only the bond gets deeper

After knowing each other he finally comfortable to be himself and does not feel awkward anymore...

Also including this hc here because I only thought of it when writing. HYOJIN,CHANGYOON, SEUNGJOON AND MINKYUN teaming up to sing something? Like them 4 have a YouTube channel that upload their covers, without showing their faces, using illustrations drawn by Changyoon

Seungjoon : Could go for science genre or maybe business administration? Also anything related with mathematics(that need flexible solving) might suit him too

Might occasionally appear in the library. Not really searching for books to read,more on giving himself the environment to complete assignments. But visits bookstore too

Maybe, the most social-able being in the group. Constantly waving or say hi to acquaintance/classmates passing by. Even though that, there are never rumours or scandals of Seungjoon being playboy. (But totally the first one in the group to get a GF, hint established in his senpai au)

Like people only notices the group because of him because of his social skills. Its kind of like the fairy who brings/enlarge the fandom lol

Might doing part time job at a cafe nearby university because of distance+ time convenience purposes. The other members of the group might occasionally hang out at the place, waiting for him to finish his shift or Yuto to finish his lessons and then they go eat dinner

Jaeyoung : High chance of choosing communication related genre or/also social science/sociology related genre. I won't be surprised if he will choose psychology or behavioural science

Easily to find him in library searching for books to read/expand his pov. Sitting beside windows

One of the hyungs that will explains Korean to Yuto. Especially idioms.

First impression would be the quiet good looking one that definitely gonna stay back to ask lecturer more questions

The second on in the group to get a GF. But very very low key.

Linking to the tutor AU I posted recently, he might be teaching online to gain extra income because he does not want to do part time job to exhaust himself as he want to reserve energy to dance. Which also the main factor he suggested Yuto to do online teaching later

Minkyun : Musical student but focusing on composing. To jump from stereotypes, he could be going to broadcast communications, to become professional radio DJ

He might also join another club which is established by uni it self to make radio broadcast that plays at the cafeteria.

Cues in other members all recognise his voice immediately. Lol if he qccidentally messed up on some wordings, the next time they meet they are gonna tease him for sure haha

OK this applies to all of them but I only remembered to include this during writing for Minkyun, the boys are totally banned from playing any games at the cafeteria lol (not a strict ban but they are loud lol.) So they changed plans to play game and hangout at home, with Yuto coming over to sleep over.

Yuto : the exchange student / the foreign student who is majoring in Korean language. High chance going for Korean language teaching later.

Once they knew Yuto's Korean Proficiency level are above average, the boys are supportive and proud of him af. Lol also his devilish hyungs teasing him that he should get a girlfriend, it is a way to master language lol

Cues in his hyungs helping him out by giving him small tests of Korean grammar

Could be the only one who lives in university dorms. But he gets to have sleepovers with his hyungs at their house during weekends (rent or family residence,up to you)

Even encourages him to try out online teaching beginners first to gain experiences

Probably feeling sadden the most when found out Minseok had to quit university. Also could not help feeling lonely when his hyungs graduated. (Some did extend studies but some did not. My hunch, Minkyun and Chang Yoon could be the first two to graduated first. Jaeyoung and Yuto being the last two to graduate)

Minseok : a junior who studies history and choosing Japanese + Chinese as sub majors. Who knows, he might choose translating/interpreting as major later (I mean have you seen some interviews where he used Japanese and Chinese, damn his pronunciation is good, trust me cos i speak both language)

Did not get to stay long, maybe just 1 year and a half then he had to quit university because his whole family are moving out from the country (no worries they contact each other online frequently). His hyungs defo doing a farewell party for him.

Even though short time, but he gained the title of university sweetheart by the first day he starts uni.

Same as Seungjoon and Jaeyoung, the type to find him in library alot.

Of course gonna ask Yuto a lot of Japanese grammar questions

BTW if link to Sibling AU, should we link it to the double Kim household, Minseok did not drop out. He could have participated an exchange program and had to leave for overseas to complete a course at a better institute
