Will you tell me about an LU character you love and why you love them? Please please please ramble on and on! It's my favorite! I get so many fun ideas when people gush about their favorites.

I (think) I've said this before, but I am not the most analytical/observ person ever so most of what I say is probably kinda shallow :') BUT THIS IS MY RAMBLE SO OH WELL

Okay so recently, I've been on a Warriors kick. I just super love how like, everyone portrays him! Most see him as big brother shaped, which I super love. His background is just so vastly different than every other Link, which serves as a very cool contrast imo

The way @somer-writes makes Twi and Wars idiodic brothers is like, my favorite ever. I love love love LOVE how he writes Wars and Twi it's so insane the comedy that unfolds when they're just messing around xD

Warriors has this air, this *vibe* which I'm just super drawn too, I think it's just how my personality vs his works (you could theoretically draw *some* parallels with Sokka from ATLA, at least the way they each hold themselves I'd say. Also big bro stuff) (ALSO how both of them are portrayed as 'smart', which is a trait I typically relate too in characters)

When I like a character though, it's more based on the different types of relationships everyone writes them as though, I'd say. Wars and Time and Wind have this super intriguing bond that I think is cool to see how everyone interprets it! For the most part people write them as they're all aware of the War of Ages and whatnot, which lead to some nice fluff and/or angst. But when there's some time paradoxes, it makes it every so more tragic and it's really interesting to see how that can get written. I recall a fic (I FORGOT THE TITLE AND THE AUTHOR NOO) where Wars was teaching Wind medic stuff, but it was like a year before Wind meets Wars in the war. So Wars is all "sob this is why Wind is such a good medic? *Bc I taught him?*" THIS IS SO COOL AND INTERESTING

Also when there's War of Ages fics that have Time/Mask being a stupid child (/aff) they're just super hilarious. There's a series out there that has the Fierce Deity (sorry forgot the author again xD) act as Wars parent figure/older brother figure and it's just really funny to me bc ofc Wars would be a stupid overworking idiot. Loser smh

Four is also another one of the sillies that live in my brain, and I kinda wish there were more fics on how they interact. Though, if I'm being real idk how they really would cause they don't really have the same synergy as any other Links. I just like my favorites to interact, but I super understand how they wouldn't ^^

Small side bit on serious Wars (the biggest example is "Call Them Brothers" by wutheringmights which I'm almost 100% certain you've read that already cause it's soooo long and it's SO GOOD AHH) and ugh I wish I could pay attention more to get every complexity that this Wars has but the brain kinda hates me. I think it makes a lot of sense for Wars to have a grittier characterization, war does that to people. The entire fic is so visceral to me, I just vividly remember reading the flashback section about the long winter, and I don't even know how to really describe it xD

Wars has such a broad range of emotion, if one were to put him under and microscope and study him there would be SO MUCH.

I think g3 monster high is a prime example of "do you dislike this because it's ACTUALLY bad? or because it's different and nostalgia is clouding your judgement?"

we fucking LOVE G3 monster high. it's one of our current fixations and we feel genuinely attached to the story and characters. we've always liked monster high but with previous generations we liked it PURELY for the aesthetics and no fucks were given about the shows and movies to us. so we don't have a connection to it in THAT way, but we still grew up with it. and yeah- we don't like some of the changes either. or feel like some things could have been done better, but like. generally- it's actually good.

ok so i think gortash is cis male and he didn't really question his identity as a kid, unless he was assigned like female roles in the games he played with other kids cause they thought he was a bit weird. he didn't mind them, mostly cause he had his own mommy issues and it was oddly healing to play as a mother figure (fic recommendation that gave me this idea in the first place).

in the house of hope, he was looked down upon in many ways, being called names was one of them. obviously there were the typical insults and "boy" in a derogatory way but i think since the whole point of being jailed was to be beaten down into an empty slate for Raphael to use and manipulate, it was also important to strip him of his identity as a whole. Nubaldin was probably great at that, providing equal amounts of both physical and emotional abuse, so i imagine there were points were he was punished for using his own name/pronouns. like, being asked what he is, enver giving a derogatory answer hoping it's the right one and nubaldin punching him anyway because "I used 'he' instead of 'it' for your pathetic ass, you should have corrected me"

once he hit the prepubescent age, they probably started having fun with calling him a girl (coupled with the sexu@l abuse he probably experienced), literally gaslighting him saying he was always a girl, he had no name, are you really that stupid? etc etc. obviously this confused him as it's difficult to keep a straight idea of your self-identity when you're concussed every other day. one minute he was less than dirt, the next he was a rat, then an idiot girl who can't even remember her own name, to the point he was so worn down he just accepted whatever they threw at him. If Raphael wanted him to be a boy, so be it, if he wanted a man, so be it, if he wanted a girl, so be fucking it.

he probably struggled a Lot with puberty too,, it came late to him, malnourished as he was, so the fact that he didn't even have body hair despite his body growing aided the gender misidentity. i think he'd often stare at the mirror, at his body and face, try to understand who he was behind the scars, losing control of himself and his mind. he didn't see himself as human, he was just a thing that was sold and then used and reshaped in whoever's hands he ended up like clay. he'd often ask Hope about it, try to understand how he was viewed by someone who wasn't malicious, and she'd answer as honestly and hopefully as she could but let's be honest, her riddles and tangents most likely just confused him further.

not to mention his twisted attractions?? like through all that, he had to somehow figure out what he was attracted to?? i think a healthy mix of sexu@l trauma and stockholm syndrome ended up contributing to his toxic view on relationships and sex as a whole. there's a reason Durge was the only one he was able to form a genuine relationship with.

anyway, all of it definitely ties in with his name change, too. not only did he struggle with rejoining society after HoH, he had to figure out himself all over again. i think he created the persona of a young, powerful and ambitious man named Enver Gortash and leaned into it so much it simply consumed him. he literally gaslit himself into curing his gender questioning like the girlboss he is.

also if you call him by she/her pronouns he'd most likely answer out of pure instinct

The trauma ability thing IS canon, and it's confirmed in Gaiden. Gaiden actually has a ton of important worldbuilding information, which is why it pains me that it's not more popular. Here's the exact quote (translation credit goes to profqlasses on Twitter):

"Sensei," I muttered hoarsely. "Have you ever wished you didn't have your ability?"

“What a very mature question,” replied Ayatsuji-sensei. “I can tell you the answer, but I don’t think a fledgling like you would catch it. You’ll need about ten years of suffering for that kind of excellent question. How many years has it been since your ability first awakened?”

I didn’t need to count with my fingers; the number had always been in my head.

“……Five years.”

“There are lots of obscurities as to when and how people acquire their abilities. But most of the time, there’s a certain trigger. In your case, it was your mother’s death. In Reigo Island’s Serial Murder Case five years ago. If it’s from something like that, it’s no wonder if one or two abilities would get involved there. And it’s regardless whether the person in question wants it or not.”

Now in Tsujimura's case specifically, she inherited the ability because her mother specifically passed it onto her, and now she only has partial control of it. That's actually how Kyouka's mother learned to transfer abilities. But it still reveals that abilities are triggered in people after traumatic events, and also reveals that people can have MULTIPLE abilities

That little burb is actually why I started thinking on the canon trauma based abilities. Also, the idea that all ability users are just a tad bit messed up. Those two things seem so dependent on one another; being messed up and and being an ability user.

Makes me think about the themes of trauma and the way it literally shapes a person.

And Tsujimura? I don't know much about her, only read her wiki when I was researching for a fic (and one my bsd quick analysis). But I was aware of her ability and how it related to Kyouka's. Honestly thought the multiple ability thing was simply speculation but it always seemed logical to me.

I feel it is a rational conclusion, even without Gaiden making it canon mind you, that abilities manifest under stress and out of trauma. I would even go as far to argue that they strengthen and develop under it to.

Characters like Akutagawa, Yosano, and Chuuya all are examples of this.

Akutagawa developed an ability that was so offensive that it was defensive. It had no true defensive capabilities till he suffered under Dazai's abusive training. It changed.

Yosano’s ability was basically still developing when she came under Mori's tutelage, wouldn't surprise me if he even knew a way to influence its development. (Exhibit A, him fatally wounding that soldier)

Chuuya had an ability before it was molded to contain and withstand Arahabaki. Another example of ablity being changed as it developed. Changed under extreme torture and trauma. Technically, he even has two abilities, Corruption and For The Tainted Sorrow.

Mori is suspicious as fuck when it comes to the children getting their abilities manipulated.

All in all, it seems to be one of those unspoken, read between the lines kind of aspects of bsd.

⚠️Long ass XO Kitty post with spoilers⚠️

OK I need to say this: I would MUCH rather people were honest and said that they just personally prefer Kitty x Minho because of their fun dynamic instead of saying stuff like "Kitty x Yuri came out of nowhere" or "it didn't feel natural" or "it was already too late in the season"

Like... No??? It?? Wasn't??

You cannot IMAGINE the euphoria I felt when I realized that this plot is actually going somewhere. As I was watching episode 1, right off the bat I felt like Yuri's and Kitty's "meet-cute" was the most powerful.

With Dae, Kitty had asked him to take a picture of her with her family.

With Minho, he bumped into her with his bag then pretended that he doesn't speak English.

But Yuri??? her car ALMOST runs Kitty over, it STRIKES her, sweeps her off her feet then Yuri gets out in a hurry, worried, offering a ride then they actually have a genuine conversation in the car.

The first half of the season is them being "rivals" while still respecting eachother. (So the whole "enemies to lovers" argument for Kitty x Minho doesn't even work cause like, it was the same??? For Yuri and Kitty?? If not more intense because there is actual tension, not only bickering) Then learning about how their mothers were best friends and roommates adding to the "fate" factor of their relationship after their over the top meet-cute. Finally, they become friends and support eachother as best as they can and as they do, Kitty realizes that this dream she had of Yuri wasn't "just" a random dream and she actually *does* have feelings for Yuri and this. ALL of this progression just felt so organic and gradual and overall just, well-done?? And not rushed at all how some people claim it to be.

To me it just feels like this is the first time in a while (if ever, for ME personally) that the audience of a show got "straightbaited" and honestly? I loved it.

Everytime things were going well or starting to go well between Kitty and Dae I couldn't help but be worried/sad/disappointed, thinking that surely this whole development with Yuri would be dropped and they would go back to being friends but it NEVER HAPPENED. Thus far, everytime things were going good, great or even amazing with Dae, Kitty couldn't help but think back to Yuri and I felt so much relief from it everytime.

And to be clear, this isn't meant AT ALL as hatred towards Kitty x Minho or their shippers. I think their potential is very solid and Minho is really lovable BUT I just don't want Yuri to be erased from the picture by people's claims that their relationship "wouldn't make sense" or that it was rushed or any other complaint of the same type.

People say that while Kitty hasn't shown any interest in Minho (yet) Yuri hasn't shown any in Kitty either and that she's still very much in love with Juliana... now I'm just entering speculation territory here so feel free to leave if you're not interested or take this with a grain of salt but -> I almost fully believe that if (and I hope to god there is) a season two of this show, Yuri and Juliana might encounter some difficulties and break up. Now I don't want to undermine the feelings they have for eachother AT ALL, but as we've seen with this season with Kitty and Dae, the author/writers aren't afraid to end a couple that had (apparently) been going strong for 4 years. So if a 2nd season gets greenlit, although Dae is out of the picture, I bet Kitty Minho and Yuri will somehow end up in a triangle (well, in a way they kind of already ARE but you get my point.)

Realistically we really don't know that much about Yuri and Juliana's relationship beyond the fact that they were most likely eachother's first love and that their parents separated them after finding out that they're gay. I don't think it's impossible that in some way or another, their romantic relationship will end (on a good note hopefully!) To let place to the love triangle. Not that I like love triangles but well, they gotta set something up for 2nd season and this is the most safe bet atm.

On a completely unrelated note, I loved that scene on stage where Minho and Dae were looking at eachother like typical rivals in love with the same girl right out of a k-drama while their "girl" just accidentally set fire to the stage and her clothes because her mind is full of another girl jdhzhdjdhdhd. And that's also a big part of the reason why I'm rooting for KittyxYuri! I feel like a concept like this has never been done to completion. In general the girl will go right back to liking one of the guys while her "crush" towards the girl will be written off as just a short-lived attraction but here? There's still a strong possibility of it being legit.

WOOO HII‼️‼️ Alright alright so, I feel like Kalebs favorite yokai he's met would be Jibanyan or Komojiro (once he meets them because of Nate) I just feel like their personalities go well together. But I'd also would say Keroki is one of Kalebs favorites too, just because without him he wouldn't get too meet all these different yokai!

Kaleb as we all know is a dork, but the funny thing is when a person meets him for the first time they expect him too be mean because of how he dresses.

His favorite food is kebabs! He adores festivals because he can eat all the kebabs that he's wants. His favorite type consists of mostly meat.

OOOOOO Okay, so I actually have a few. Poppies, of course, remind me of him

yk its his favourite n all. BUT succulents also remind me of him. Specifically, the aeonium black rose. Its super pretty :))

As for Law, he knows flower language, like the meanings behind flowers and what not. Its super silly. Anyways, Heliotropes remind him of me.

Partly because they are my favourite, and secondly because the heliotrope symbolizes devotion and eternal love.

The Indian paintbrush also makes him think of me.

Mostly for the bright colours and the "paintbrush" part. It also symbolises love and transformation.

I actually dont know much about plants, BUUUT yeah!! Whenever i think of me and law, and think of a flower that really ties to us, Its the heliotrope. (Thats why its my favourite)

rewatching mk12's pyramid scene and- I can't take this game seriously at all.

the whole point of the pyramid is to reach the top, to win the "prize of gods"

and- and they're

walking down the stairs-

"oh shit I'm in heels I better not trip or else it's gonna hurt and imma embarrass myself so bad-" "who thought of fighting in a pyramid of all places-" "why do they have so much stamina to RUN up here"

there are scenes that make no sense at all: Liu and Shang casually speaking as if they aren't so far away from each other, the amount of copy paste models that are included for no reason, Liu kinda frowning when Quan Chi comes from the portal... even though he can't see what's going on up there??

I'd love to rewrite this ugly ass scene for something more... idk, 3D era like?

I'd love to write it like- (don't mind the fanfiction down below)

Shang Tsung preparing a bigger scale soulnado while Quan Chi is down there defending the pyramid, summoning warriors of dark timelines (both titan AND mortal warriors). From the distance, Ashrah and Nitara fly over to count the amount of enemies Quan Chi summoned then informing Liu Kang who, now infused with his full titan power, slowly approaches the battlefield, fists burning as he frowns. Then, portals open to show good timelords and chosen champions. There aren't many, but they don't need numbers, they only need their spirits.

And so, they run to face their foes, their "allies", their nemesis, their war screams are so loud they could leave someone deaf. The battle opens with titan Hotaru piercing through champion Li Mei, later following fights like titan Scorpion against timelord Bi-Han, timelord Shinnok against dark Raiden and so on, some fights are callbacks from the armageddon, others are reversed or modified to fit the mk12 timeline.

Liu, however, makes his way towards Shang Tsung, yet what he didn't expect was to fight his undead self, courtesy of dark Raiden. For a "mortal", zombie Kang gives Liu a hard time, or maybe it's Liu's inexperience with his own titan powers that make him feel weaker, but it doesn't matter. The war ends with Shang Tsung consuming all of the souls of Liu's timelines, but as punishment for being greedy, his body cannot contain so much soul power, he's not prepared to manage a large amount of souls, billions and trillions of souls would shatter his body, screaming in agony as Liu Kang tears his body apart, freeing not only the souls of his timeline, but the souls that were taken from the massacre that was a few meters away.

The universe, unstable, tries to correct itself. It sends warriors back to their timelines... except some warriors are swapped with different versions of themselves.

I'd like to think Invasions could be canon as a direct continuity. Bringing the warriors stuck in other timelines back to Liu's and sending the titans back to their universes, as they lost their divine power. For example: Champion Nitara is stuck in Liu's timeline meanwhile normal Nitara is in C!Nitara's. Duplicates exist in Liu's timeline but at the cost of another soul replacing them: Scorpion and Champion Scorpion are both in Liu's timeline at the expense of... idk, young Hanzo and Scorpion Kuai.

...so yeah thats my rambling.

What is in the works and what I wanted the Otto discourse for is an Aemond fic. If I plan right, it should be out the week after I wrap up Divine Intuition. I am hoping to gain some insight on Aemond's character the same way I pinned down Daemon. If you are up for seeing my method, it's under the cut. I totally used this ask as an excuse to talk about what I like.

So. As some of you know, I have not read the ASOIAF books, nor the ones pertaining the Dance of the Dragons. But this is not my first rodeo on fic writing, and before I write for a character, I like seeing what makes them tick.

Daemon was easier to crack down for me than Aemond. He has more screen time, which helps. But what really helped me nail down details about him was a Matt Smith's interview and his interactions with other characters. Especially, those with Viserys and women. From that, I got a few key points that I keep in mind every time I write him: Attention seeking, sadistic, controlling. I make sure to hit those in every scene he is in. But also, I try keeping in mind his motivations and his core values, loyalty, love for Viserys and Rhaenyra, competence (When he wants to)

I think in the case of Aemond, when considering his interactions with other characters, there are two that are key. Mother and Father.

Alicent is very important. She teaches him about the Faith, and it's clear she favors him. Aemond doesn't want to give her trouble, hence his attitude towards duty. He knows she has one problem child already, he doesn't want to be a cause for concern. It also determines his relationship with Aegon and Helaena. Aemond loves her. A lot.

Father should be taken in terms of absence. Viserys is just not there, so when looking for Aemond's father figure I have to look at two different stages. Childhood and teenage years. During childhood, he has Criston. I have been reading up discourse on him and rewatching a few of his scenes. He influences Aemond's sense of honor, he taught him how to fight, he actively parents him (See, the "All women are reflections of the Mother) To get Aemond, I need to get Criston.

But then, Otto comes back to King's Landing. And he influences Aemond during his teenage years, which is really relevant for a kid. This is where Aemond gets his sense of duty, his planning and his love for knowledge. Otto is a second son too, but one that is different to the other second son we are introduced to. He is one that stands by his own merits, that has risen to the highest position in the realm. Aemond probably looks up to him.

And you can't tell me that Otto was not an involved grandfather, because look how he acts when Helaena is making his toast or when Aemond gets up to give his. Watch his body language. He cares for these kids.

Finally, last talking point. I like Otto. I find him very interesting, and I like the mirroring with Corlys Velaryon. They both have the same objectives, getting their family on the Iron Throne. That's why I made him Aemond's Hand on Last Man On Earth (Which has to be the worst fic I have written, too many typos) I think him and Otto share the same ruthlessness, one that is very interesting to explore. And Aemond, obviously, soaks that up like a sponge. It shows even in the way he moves. When he is wrestling Aegon, it's not just siblings fighting to me. There is a sense of ruthlessness there, when he tugs at Aegon's leg, Aemond is pissed off and uncaring of hurting him. He is willing to get him to stay through any means.

Otto is blunt too, haughty. Despite being Hand, he is not a good courtier. He has the awkwardness of smart people, his brain moves too fast and gets frustrated when other's can't keep up. That's why he and Alicent clash, too. To Otto the picture is clear, to her, it takes her a bit longer. Many issues in their relationship would be solved if he took time to explain his thought process to her and listened to her thoughts. He doesn't. Otto thinks his reasoning is obvious. And that he knows best. Alicent feels blindsided and manipulated by his actions.

I think Aemond is similar. His speech is to the point, unless he is deliberately trying to insult someone (See the toast to his nephews) And even then, they are not particularly well hiden insults.

Then, there are Aemond's anger issues, of course. I have read a few Ewan Mitchell's interviews too. The boiling pot of emotion, being so cold and calculating on the outside (imitating Otto so hard in my opinion, mind over heart) but with the Targaryen's temper.

Still on the topic of anger, we have to agree Aemond is petty. So are Criston and Otto. He is just like his fathers.

So that's what I want the discourse for. It helps me, reading others opinions, even if they clash with mine because I get to think and spin my little web.

How would your character choose to die? Do they believe in life after death? If they could be reincarnated, what would they choose to be reincarnated as?

Peony never really believed in an 'afterlife', until very recently. She's always thought it was just a really long nap, or reincarnation. Speaking of reincarnation, she would love to be reborn as a dog! And she doesn't like thinking of death, and her preferred way of dying.

Eris is very into psychology; well, before her world fell apart that is. People, places, things have always fascinated her in a way that being isolated doesn't. Social, even if she doesn't want to admit it half the time. She'd much rather appear unapproachable.

Rhys has been her best friend since grade school, who she's always kinda sorta had a thing for, but that's something she won't even admit to herself. All Rhys has to do is give her a puppy dog look and she's ready to do whatever he wants. No questions asked.

She's very soft yet hard at the edges; especially after what she'd witnessed before the arrival of their new planet.

Im really excited to flesh her out more, and put her through the ringer in what I hope to actually be a series and not just a standalone.

Also vampires, have I mentioned vampires?

I'm currently working on an official WIP introduction, and I'm debating posting the first chapter, simply to see what people think/get feedback, etc.
