their knees knocked together, their bodies still too long for them to fit it. the windowsill barely fit their bodies together, their legs dangling off the edge. james wondered what his mum would say if she’d see them; that didn’t matter, actually, because being there with sirius made him feel fine.
sirius held his hand out, a cigarette between his fingers, and james reluctantly took it, putting it between his lips.
he inhaled once and sputtered, choking on the smoke. sirius laughed, that beautiful, authentic laugh of his, and patted james’ back as his fingers wrapped around sirius’ arm, looking for support.
“what the hell?” he asked, laughing, after his lungs didn’t feel like they were burning anymore.
“inexperienced.” sirius chuckled around the cigarette, taking a long, lazy drag out of it. “you’ll get the hang of it. did you inhale it in or just your mouth?”
“right, as if i know what that means,” james said, shufting his body so that his leg was placed between sirius’ thighs. “i don’t think i want to get the hang of it, this is absolutely disgusting.”
sirius shrugged, parting his lips and watching the smoke twirl through the air. james’ eyes fell on his mouth, on the full of his lips and on his sharp teeth. something stirred in him, and sirius’ mouth curved into a grin.
“what are you smiling about, you idiot?” james asked, leaning against the wall.
“why are you staring at my lips, potter?” sirius retorted, running a hand through his hair, his eyes meeting james’ with some kind of passion that made james feel tingly. sirius pushed himself up on his knees and closed the distance between them, their bodies almost pressed together.
“just checking what other people see in you.”
“right. what conclusion have you come to?”
“that you’re not all that, mate.”
sirius laughed, leaning back and putting the cigarette back between his lips. james watched him, through a haze of smoke and adolescent feelings. they were fine; they were there, they were alive.

You’re just on your way out of A&E, feeling sore and shattered and more than a little sorry for yourself, when someone says your name. With an odd mix of relief and trepidation mingling in your chest, you turn.
Sirius makes it to your first. He takes your face in his hands, eyes scanning it over thoroughly before starting to make their way down your body. “Baby, what’s happened?”
“Hey,” you say, “what are you doing here?”
“Um, no.” James gives you a funny-looking smile, amusement tangled up with worry. “It’s fairly normal for us to be here, what are you doing here?”
“I, um—”
“Idiots.” Remus bypasses them both, taking your injured hand gently and holding it up where your other boyfriends can see it. “What happened here, lovely?”
“I broke my finger,” you admit.
Sirius looks devastated, though with the splint binding your two fingers together you thought it was fairly obvious. “How?”
“Shut it in my car door.”
James winces and Remus tsks compassionately, turning your hand so he can see the injured digit from another angle.
“How long have you been here?” he asks.
You shrug, not quite looking at any of them. “I had to wait a while. A few hours.”
Remus’ look lets you know your sheepishness isn’t without good reason. “Did you drive yourself like this?”
You nod meekly.
“Angel!” James wraps his arms around you, tucking your head underneath his chin, and you go happily. You’ll take his mollycoddling over Remus’ reproachful stare any day. “Why didn’t you call us? I can’t believe you had to sit here all by yourself.”
“I knew you were busy at work, and I didn’t want to worry you.” Now Sirius is glaring at you, too. You snuggle further into James’ embrace. “It wasn’t so bad.”
“Did they have to set it?” Sirius asks.
Your face heats. “Yeah. It was pretty weird-looking when it first happened.”
James makes a pitiful whining sound. “Poor love.”
“How long did they tell you it’d take to heal?” Remus’ voice sounds somewhat gentler now. He finally relinquishes your injured hand to Sirius, who starts turning it about and inspecting it in the same manner, like the doctor who splinted it for you might not have done a good enough job.
“Six to eight weeks,” you say glumly. It already feels annoyingly constraining not being able to bend either of those fingers; you’re not sure how you’re supposed to deal with it for weeks on end.
The boys exchange a look, and James drops the protective circle of his arms from around you. “I’m going to go find Amelia,” he says, “see if she’s on break.”
You clutch at his shirt with your good hand. “Don’t leave me,” you whisper.
Your boyfriend smiles, dropping a kiss on your head. “Sorry, lovie.”
“I think we ought to feel insulted,” Sirius comments as James walks away. Remus only shrugs.
He reaches for your face now that it’s not hidden under James’ chin, wiping frownily at something on your cheek.
“Are you feeling alright now, dove?” he asks, and you veritably liquefy at the tenderness in his voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” You shrug one shoulder lightly. “I’m sorry I didn’t call, but it really wasn’t awful.”
Sirius gives your wrist an admonishing little squeeze. “You have tear marks on your face,” he contradicts you softly.
“Oh.” You run a finger under your eyes, feeling your face heat.
Remus tuts and lets his hand against the side of your neck, thumb stroking at your jaw. “We’re only on shift for another hour,” he tells you. “James is finding our friend Amelia so you can stay in the break room with her until we can come back and get you, okay?”
You shake your head, and his stare hardens but you say anyway, “I don’t need to be babysat. I can get home on my own.”
“You shouldn’t be driving after having anesthetic.”
You narrow your eyes. “Wouldn’t they have told me if that were the case?”
“We don’t want you driving with a numb hand,” Sirius clarifies. When you turn your attention to him, he gives you a stern look. “You should have called us in the first place. Just let us do what we can for you now, okay?”
You sigh in resignation just as James comes up behind you again. Seeing as no one has taken over hug duty, he wraps both arms around your waist, setting his chin on your shoulder.
“Okay,” you tell Sirius.
“Oh, excellent. All on the same page, are we?” James turns his head to smooch your cheek. “Knew you’d come around, angel. Amelia’s ready for you, so you can hang in the break room until we get back.”
“Is she going to baby me too?” you joke, letting him steer you towards the hallway.
“Probably not,” Sirius says, “but don’t you worry, sweetness. We’ll make up for that when we get you home.”

ramble
summary james lets you ramble about your favourite tv show
content james potter x fem!reader
note men just dont get the point, do they!!!! fuck him. thanks for the req though lovely <3
You've managed to steal James away. A moment where you've worked the courage to talk to only him, not talk to him through other points his friends have made. It's just you and him and he's asked you about your favourite TV show.
"So, they're about to release a new season," you say. Your hands are talking more than your mouth is. Pointing and waving around to get your point across. "And," you think you should pause to take a breath but you don't, "and she's back."
"Who?" James asks you. He sets his drink down to fold his arms across his chest and leans in.
"Veronica!" you say excitedly, eyes creasing with pleasure. You're radiating excitement. "She's not dead. She was just missing, trapped somewhere. I’m not sure yet, the trailer doesn’t show much. How cool?"
James nods and hums and then his name is called out from across the lawn. You think it's Sirius. James doesn't pay him any mind.
"And then there's Alexander," you're talking quietly now, still just as excited, "her lover. God, he's been looking for her for centuries. Romance isn't dead."
You pause to take a breath but mainly because Sirius is still trying to gain James's attention. Standing by the fire bucket with a bunch of sticks in his hand.
"Sorry, one moment," James says, soft smile and apologetic eyes, and turns to face his friend. He's got his hand on your knee. "What?"
"Do you wanna roast marshmallows?" Sirius asks and can tell James is incensed. He has it in him to look sheepish.
"What? No, I don't, Sirius." You've never heard James get angry at Sirius. You think you might laugh but feel worse because it's because of you. "Can't you see I'm talking?"
"Whatever," Sirius grumbles.
James turns back and looks like he's about to apologise again. You beat him to it. "Sorry, James." You turn your head and feel yourself heating up. "Shit, sorry. I've started rambling again. You can go see your friends."
"What?" James' face softens and it hits you right in the chest. He's still got his hand at your knee. He squeezes it when your face ducks down. "No, ignore Sirius. He's being his usual annoying self."
You bite your lip and still feel bad. You've sat here and rambled about a TV show he's unfortunately had the displeasure of asking you about. "He's your friend."
"He's a dickhead," he grumbles but has it in him to smile. You know he doesn't mean it. They're basically like brothers; you've only known James for a few months.
"You can go roast marshmallows if you want." You feel stupid when you say it. There's the tiniest bit in you that hopes he doesn't want to. By the off chance he doesn't, you promise to shut up.
"I don't want to roast marshmallows. I couldn't think of anything worse." James laughs and grabs his empty cup. Your breathing jumps. "Hey, let's got grab another drink and you can tell me more about this show, yeah?"
You blink at him. "Really?"
James stands and holds his hands out. You stare at his arms, where his biceps strain underneath his white button-down. He's gotta be cold. "Yeah, what were you saying about Alexander? Centuries? That is romantic."
You think you beam. You know you look like an idiot. Smiling up at him until your cheeks apple. You try to tamp down the way he's making you feel but fail immensely. He looks at you with all the patience in the world until you snap out of it.
You take his hands and think being here is warmer than the space around the bonfire. "Totally romantic," you swoon. A little too dramatic. You feel worse when James guides you through the swarm of people in Emmeline's backyard. He wraps his hand around your elbow. "I envy their relationship. I mean, who can say the love of their life searched for them across time and space for hundreds of years?"
James starts to pour your drink before his. You'd told him once, an offhanded comment weeks ago, your drink of choice. He apparently remembered. "Looks like I have a bit of competition.''
"Yeah?"
James nods and hands you your drink. Stronger than usual. You don't mind, you might need it. "I've gotta lift my romance game," he says. "Gotta impress you somehow. I don't know how to time travel but I'm a good hand holder."
You giggle and let him take your hand. "I don't think you'll need time travel, James."
He doesn't. He lets you ramble all night.

Idiot in love
A/n: I've been away for a while because of lack of motivation but I'm back! This was sitting in my notes but i fixed it up and think its good enough to post now. “Welcome and Goodbye” pt 1 coming soon. Lmk if u want a happy James fic soon. Enjoy!
Warnings: Angst, no comfort, no happy ending. James potter x f!reader.
Summary: you help James get ready for a date with the love of his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You knew you fell hard. You were an idiot to fall in love with someone whose heart belonged to someone else, but you did.
You hated yourself for feeling this way. You thought he knew how much you loved him. But he never paid attention to you. It was always Lily. Their anniversary was coming up, and all you could do was help James prepare to confess his love.
“Thanks Y/n,” He hugged you and you hugged harder, enveloped in his warmth. “You’re such an amazing friend.” He whispered. You feel yourself choke up. “Of course James,” You pulled away from the hug and smiled, “anything for you.
He smiled back and continued preparing the balcony for his dinner with Lily. You laid on the couch and watched as he scrambled to put his last finishing touches on everything.
He paused and groaned in frustration. You furrowed your brows as he came over and sat on the couch next to you. “I’m such a bloody idiot,” you look at him in confusion and he put his head in his hands, “I forgot to get her a gift.”
You look at him, rubbing his back as he mumbles about getting Sirius to run out and fetch one when you get an idea. “I have something.” He shoots his head up and looks at you, “what is it?” You hand him a piece of paper. The piece of paper you planned on giving him months ago to confess your love. You never signed it or used his name, you never thought you would give it to him.
He furrowed his brows and read the paper. “Y/n,” he looks at you surprised, “this is beautiful. He smiles down at the paper. “Did you write this?” You look at him shyly and nod. “Whoever you wrote this for is the luckiest guy in the world.” He laughs. “This is perfect, this is everything Lily deserves to hear. Thank you.”
You don’t trust yourself not to spill if you speak, so you settle for a nod.
As soon as you get up you hear a knock on the door. He gets up excitedly and walks over to the door. You walk over to him as he opens it letting Lily inside. She looks stunning, a beautiful light blue dress that matched perfectly with her skin tone. Her hair was done in a way that fitted her perfectly. She looked perfect. She was perfect.
“Oh hey, I didn’t expect to see you here.” She smiles and leans in for a hug. You hug her back. “She was just helping me with some stuff.” She nods and you make your way out the door. He doesn’t spare you a glance as he grabs Lily’s arm leading her over to his balcony. You smile at them one last time before closing the door behind you. You break down on your way home. You were an idiot for falling in love.

yes please, I love ur Remus stories <3 maybe write about him and reader having a fight but the other boys kinda agree that she's right and remus getting mad at them too? idk if u understand what i mean haha but a happy ending ofc
thank you for requesting!🖤
.
You and Remus didn’t fight often, not really.
You had the odd squabble here and there, the ones that didn’t really mean anything and would usually end with the both of you laughing it off. Or the ones that were so stupid that you’d go a few hours not talking to each other before realising just how dumb you both were.
But it had never been this bad. And it had never been in front of an audience either.
“He’s gonna come around, bug, just gotta give him some time,” Sirius murmured as he slumped down onto the couch next to you, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you into his side.
“Is he though?” you whispered, the thought that had been plaguing your mind for the last few days and saying it out loud only made the pit in your stomach deepen. “He hasn’t spoken to us in three days, Sirius.”
“He’s just a stubborn git sometimes,” Sirius assured you with a soft squeeze to your shoulder. “He needs some time to realise that he’s wrong. He’s gonna come back to us, bug, I know our Moony.”
“I’m just worried,” you admitted, your chin tucked against your chest as you stared down at your hands, picking at the skin around your nails before another hand reached over to bat your fingers away.
“We are too,” this time it was James who spoke as he settled on the other side of you, flashing you a smile that made the tightness in your chest ease a little. “But he’s a good egg, even if he is a bit emotionally slow sometimes.”
In all honesty, you couldn’t remember exactly what the fight had been about. It started off as a conversation about the full moon and Remus’ safety, and it ended with you two yelling at each other from across the room before he stormed off after Sirius and James stepped in, backing you up.
He didn’t return to the flat that night and you heard from Lily that he had crashed at Mary’s place for the time being. You were happy he was safe but you wish he was home, you wish he was with you. Sleeping in your bed alone only further set you on edge and the fact the house seemed so empty didn’t help.
It was why the two boys had been hanging around as much as they could. You knew exactly what they were doing, even if they didn’t say it out loud. But you appreciated the gesture nonetheless.
“What do you feel like for dinner today?” James asked as he reached for the pile of takeout menus lying on the coffee table. “It's your turn.”
Sirius frowned. “I thought it was my turn?”
“Yeah but you’re gonna choose something weird,” James grumbled, narrowly avoiding the attack when Sirius leaned over to smack the back of his head.
You laughed. “Both of you are actual children, I—”
But you cut yourself off when you heard the door lock turning.
In an instant all three of you were standing, the boys taking a stance in front of you with their wands drawn and ready, only to pause when they noticed it was Remus walking through the door. Remus, with heavy bags under his eyes and a bouquet of your favourite flowers in his hand.
“Hi,” he whispered, taking in the sight of his two friends before his eyes fell on you.
“Hey,” you whispered back with a timid smile.
“Uh, we’re gonna go!” James suddenly announced as he slapped his hands together. “Isn’t that right, Pads?”
“Very right indeed, Prongs!”
If it weren’t for the werewolf standing a few feet away from you, you would have found the sight of two grown wizards scattering and rushing towards the door quite amusing. But your attention was completely snagged on your boyfriend.
“Let me just get this out before you say anything,” Remus quickly spoke up before you could even open your mouth. “Please.”
You nodded for him to continue.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he whispered out as he began to walk closer to you. “I am so fucking sorry for being an idiot these past few days. I am sorry for having my head up my ass. I am sorry that you just cared about me and my safety and I freaked out on you.”
His eyes never left yours as he stopped a few inches in front of you, letting out a shaky breath. “I guess it’s still hard for me to remember that I have people who care about me and accept me. That I have someone like you who loves me unconditionally.”
“Even when you’re being an ass,” you added with a soft smile.
Remus grinned. “Even when I’m being an ass.”
“I just want you to be safe,” you murmured softly, almost as if you were scared to kick off the argument all over again.
“I know, I’m sorry I freaked out,” he muttered as he placed the flowers down gently before taking your face in his hands. “I love you and I would have done the same for you.”
You leaned into his touch. “I love you too, Lupin.”
“Thank fuck for that,” he said with a sigh of relief before he leaned down to kiss you.
“Be honest,” you muttered against his lips. “Did Mary kick your ass when you told her the whole story?”
Remus snorted. “Big time.”
Your grin widened. “I knew I loved her.”

hiii !! i’m here to req no. 14 from the prompt list + james ( literally bc i can just imagine sirius telling them to kiss and make up ) 💘💘
send me one of my boys + a prompt
james + reader ⋆ "can you both just kiss and make up-" both of them: "SIRIUS"
there were things everyone in hogwarts knew. some of them where: you and james were extremely competitive, the sorest of losers, partners in crime? yes, but stubborn from the biggest to the smallest bone you both had. having you both playing for the quidditch team was a blessing for gryffindor. and also a curse. a blessing because it meant the red and golden lions had never won so many matches in a row. a curse because you were both insufferable during quidditch practice and even worse than that, sharing dorms and common areas with the both of you after a losing match? hell. literally.
"told'ya that stupid strategy wouldn't work," james' hands go through his hair, exasperated by the terrible beating slytherin had done to the team's score, and to his self esteem. "but nooo, you're always miss right." his face twisting in a mocking expression. "didn't work 'cause you didn't do your bloody part, potter." you're just as frustrated, arms flailing around, the game ended hours ago, this is the fourth or fifth time you both are discussing this exact same point. the common room getting emptier and emptier each time, leaving only you both, sirius, remus, peter and lily, as your friends they were morally compelled to stay and keep you both from each other's throats. both your wands already perfectly secure in remus' pockets to avoid any disappearance of brows or cutting of hair. exhausting really, dealing with you two was becoming exhausting, especially because you were both very easy going people with everyone else. james was a charmer, you were always a delight. it was fascinating how irritating both of you became in situations like these, how easy it was to get you both riled up because of the other. so it clicked to everyone, but you two, apparently, that you simply had feelings for each other. none of you knew how to react upon those, so you bottled it up and when james made something stupid it got you so mad because the feelings you had for him were all intense, all or nothing, no middle ground. and it was the same for him. best friends who had so much in common and loved doing most of it together, who made each other laugh, and helped each other when things got bad. and then suddenly, a screaming match. quidditch strategies, blaming each other for some prank, arguing about the right answer to a test, it was the stupid way you two found to actually feel and deal with the strength of your emotions. lily and remus leave while the argument went from the yelling to the huffing, both claiming to need tea if they were going to endure all that for longer. peter debates staying for a while, he actually had plans with james for the day, but as soon as the yelling gains speed again, he knows those are gone and gives up, leaving only james, you and sirius and the thick weight of the horrible mood the room was filled with. "i won't be doing idiotic stuff on the field just 'cause you want me to, honey." james keeps the nickname, not matter how mad he gets, but there's nothing sweet on his tone. and you want to reply, you really do, you want to say he's the only idiot, that you lost because of him, but instead you suddenly feel a strong push on the back of your head, making you and james touch foreheads. "can you both just please kiss and make up already." sirius isn't even joking, he sounds tired, his hands still holding both of your heads as you and james yelled his name, shocked he would even dare to say such thing. why would james ever want to kiss you? or you kiss him? just because you enjoyed having him around and he made you heart feel a bit weak and you wanted him to validate how smart you are? just because james always got your favorite treats from honeydukes, always asked his dad to make you cosmetic potions if you wanted, and he would always have a spare scarf and gloves when you forgot yours? and the ball finally fucking dropped for you both. you saw it in his eyes as he saw it in your tiny grin, but oh, you were not going to give this so easy to sirius, so you just crossed your arms over your chest, scoffed loudly and went straight to your dorm. sirius was happy to get you both to shut up at least. and he did find out a month later that when he was napping on the common room couch, james went to your dorm and did kiss you, and that was probably why all arguments had turned into just light banter, with flirty laughs and touches. james did have to learn to accept you were mostly always right, but he gained a gorgeous girlfriend, an infinite supply of kisses and the hottest make out sessions, so he got over it pretty quickly.

day eight: remus lupin you and remus fool around on a spooky path at night | 18+, minors dni, fem!reader, semi-public sex, unprotected sex | 1.9k detailed content warnings: fem!reader, semi-public sex (risk of being discovered, doesn't happen), unprotected p in v sex, fingering, little bit of dirty talk, little bit of praising, remus is a tiny tiny tiny bit mean, creampie
Tumblr media
“Are you trying to torture me?” you ask. A cold gust blows down the forest path and you shiver, pressing harder into Remus’s side.
“Me?” he says. You can hear the smile in his voice. “Never.” His arm is warm and heavy around your shoulders. You’d walk faster if you were less glued to him but you’re not about to pull away. The path is scary.
“Why are we doing this, again?” You look over at him. Remus looks lovely every second of every damn day but in tonight’s light from the full moon he’s practically glowing. The scars on his face stand out and you want to trace them.
“Because I have something to show you.” The harvest festival you’ve left behind is a dull road back down the path. You haven’t seen another person in almost ten minutes, even though you’re still technically on the fair grounds.
“You better not have something scary planned.”
Remus smirks at you and presses his lips to your temple. “Have faith, love,” he says. “I’m not going to terrorize you.”
You roll your eyes. The path is well traveled though deserted. The trees around you are tall, the color of their leaves still visible in the moonlight. It’s not quite a proper fall night but it’s pretty close.
“Why isn’t anyone out here? Whatever you want to show me can’t be that great if no one else wants to see it.” You’re teasing and Remus can tell. He tugs on your earlobe.
“We used to come out here in the summer, actually,” he says. “Not so much this time of year. Bit nippy.”
“Yeah, and creepy.” You’re speaking in a hush for no reason.
“Well, we came to see who would be brave enough to sneak into that.” He points in front of you and as you see a massive house rising out of the shadows at the end of the woods.
“Remus!” you gasp. “Fuck, that is scary!”
He laughs. He laughs at you. Unbelievable. He tugs you close, arms around you.
“Rumor says it’s haunted.” You believe it. The house itself looms in a way that cannot be natural. The siding is chipped and rotting, the windows nothing but broken glass with torn curtains flapping in the wind. It looks like the perfect place to get murdered.
“We are not going in there.”
“No,” he agrees, “we are not.” His hand rubs up and down your spine, warming you through your coat.
“Did you ever go in?”
“A few times, with James and Sirius,” he says. “Most everyone else who came down here was only interested in the house.”
You frown. “Is there something else more terrifying and more interesting that you idiots hung around for?”
Remus smirks and you know he’s up to something. Your buttoned up, calm, collected boyfriend has a devious side that still manages to surprise you.
He leans down and presses his lips to your ear. “This is where we’d come to snog girls,” he whispers.
Your breath stutters in your chest and you swallow and embarrassing noise at his closeness. “Oh?”
“Among other things,” he adds. He turns you in his hold and walks you backwards until you’re back in the trees, off the path a little bit. Your back hits the bark of a trunk.
“Other things?” you swallow. You see where this is going but you’re not sure how far he’ll take it. Already you feel hot under your layers.
He steps back into your space, pressing you against the tree, and drags his nose down your throat, nipping at your skin as he goes. “Would you let me do other things to you, darling?”
“Remus,” you gasp. “Remus, really? In the woods? Here?” Anyone could walk by. And yet…your legs clench at the idea.
“No one will see us,” he says, pulling away to look at you full on. “We’re off the path enough, I swear.” He rubs the skin under your eye with his thumb. “If you don’t want to I will happily take you home and fuck you in bed instead —”
“I want to,” you rush out. It’s the truth. Your sex life is healthy and fun and you like trying new things with him, but this is…something different. This is hot in a way you didn’t think fooling around outside would be. You like it.
“I thought I was the only one who went a bit wild under the full moon,” he teases. Smug bastard. You slide your hand down his chest and palm him through his pants. He’s half hard already.
“Nope,” you say, popping the p. He grins wolfishly.
“Going to be quiet?” he says, whispering. The woods aren’t silent, but all you can hear is your own heartbeat and Remus’s breaths. You nod. “Good girl.”
You surge forward to kiss him. It’s teeth and tongues, sloppy but hot. Remus manages to undo his belt before leaving the button and zipper to you as he goes for your own pants, mouth never leaving yours until you pull away to spit in you palm.
He hisses when you get under his briefs to grasp his cock. It’s warm in your cold hand and you jerk him as best you can with his pants still on. “Fuck,” he gasps.
“What was that about being quiet?” you mutter. He kisses you again, tonguing into your mouth as he pops the button on your jeans. His long fingers find their way underneath your underwear and into your cunt and you moan against his mouth.
“Hush,” Remus chides. You pant into his neck, your grip on his cock haphazard as he circles your clit. “You’re soaked, darling,” he says. “You like this? Being out in the open like this? Where anyone could see how wet you are?”
You grasp his bicep with the hand not in his pants so you don’t fall over. “Oh my god,” you gasp. Who knew you were so into this?
“Not quite,” he teases. He slips two fingers into you and you bite down on his collar. “I’m going to fuck you right here against this tree,” he says, voice deeper than usual in your ear. “And then we’re going to go home and you’re going to ride me after I lap at your cunt until you scream.”
“Busy — ah — night.” Remus sucks on your pulse point and you clench around his fingers. He thrusts into your hand and then his touch is gone and you whine.
“Can’t have you wrecking my plan with those hands,” he says. “Step out of your jeans?”
You look around and see no one in the darkness. Remus pulls his boxers down a little further so he can free his entire cock and his balls. If you weren’t so desperate for him to fuck you right now you’d get on your knees, but instead you shimmy your pants down and step out of one leg. It’s not like you’ll be able to pull them up if someone comes by but not being totally bare makes you feel better.
“Now what?” The cool air makes your cunt clench and you can see that Remus’s pupils are totally blown. He crowds you against the tree so your back is against it once more and hooks one hand around your thigh to lift your leg. The mechanics of fucking like this worry you a little but you’re perfectly content to let Remus arrange you how he likes.
“Now I fuck you,” he says. He strokes himself a few times then lines up near your entrance, the tip of his cock brushing your clit for a few breaths.
You moan low in your throat. “C’mon,” you whine. Remus doesn’t wait any longer. He slide inside you in one movement, stealing the air from your lungs. He wraps one leg around his hip and taps the other. Between his firm hold and the tree, you’re fairly secure with both legs around his waist.
“So tight,” he says in your ear. “I’ve been inside you hundreds of times and you’re still so tight.”
You’re about to retort when some twigs snap in the darkness. You freeze and Remus stays where he is, face in your neck and arms steady, palms on your bare ass.
The trail is almost certainly out of sight but not far enough that you can’t hear a group of guys walking down it. “It’s not that scary, dude,” one of them says.
“Be quiet,” Remus reminds you and then he starts moving his hips. You swallow your moans as he drags his cock out and then in again, torturously slow.
“People used to fuck in these woods when we were younger,” another guy says. Their voices are already fading but it feels like they’re right next to you.
“If only they knew,” Remus continues. His lips are pressed to your ear, tongue darting out between every sentence. “I can’t believe they aren’t hearing how wet you are.”
You might explode. You might bite through your tongue. The group keeps talking but you can’t be bothered to listen anymore. There is laughter and under the cover of the sound Remus snaps his hips hard and you swallow a scream.
“Good girl,” he tells you. You clench around him. “They’re gone.” You can’t hear anything anymore except your blood pounding in your ears. Remus finally picks up the pace. The sounds must be obvious — your slick, his balls smacking into your ass, your panting. But you don’t care. The angle he’s getting is so good and it’s so hot that anyone could walk by and see you taking him and —
“How close are you?” Remus grinds out.
“Close,” you manage. “Close, Remus, keep going —”
“Me too,” he says after he licks a stripe up your neck. “Dirty girl, letting me fuck you against a tree, I’m not going to last long —
“Inside,” you blurt out. “Please, inside me, Remus.”
Your eyes are closed but he shifts his hold on you and uses one hand to grab your jaw so you’ll look at him. His pupils are totally blown and his eyes are wide.
“You want to — fuck — walk out of here with my cum inside you?”
You nod frantically and he grabs your ass again, picking up his pace.
“Anything, Remus,” you moan. “Anything, just — ah — don’t stop, I’m —”
His cock hits that spot inside you once, twice, three times, and you’re gone. Over the edge, head thrown back far enough that you thump it against the tree as you clench around him. He says your name like a prayer and his hips still as he spurts inside you.
“Fuck,” he hisses. You’re both panting and he gently guides your legs back to the ground even though you’re weak in the knees. Your jeans have almost come off the remaining leg entirely but you don’t care. Remus pulls out of you and without tucking himself back into his briefs he leans down to pull your panties back up your legs and around your hips, your jeans following. “Can’t lose any,” he says.
You laugh. “That’s filthy,” you say, breath still returning to normal. You can’t believe you just fucked in the woods.
He shrugs and puts his cock, shiny with you, away and fastens his belt.
“C’mere, Remus.” He obeys and cups your face with one hand. You kiss him gently, chastely compared to what you were doing before. “Let’s go home,” you say. “So I can blow you because I’m not kneeling on this nasty forest floor.”
He laughs loudly, so loudly you know that anyone walking by will hear. Good thing you’re not fucking anymore.

Prompt 5 - Bookshop AU
@wolfstarmicrofic April 5, word count 748
Sirius loved working in the bookshop. The Potter’s had asked if he would take over running it when they retired, as James was taking over the rest of the Potter’s substantial enterprise. But the bookshop was special, and they knew how much Sirius loved it.
It had been the first place he’d ever worked. Effie had given him the Saturday job when he’d first moved in with them. He hadn’t wanted to keep asking them for money for things, so that had been Effie's way of giving him money without making him feel bad.
He loved the smell of the place. Not only did they sell the new releases, but they also had a rare book section that Sirius sometimes just went to hide in.
It was on one of these occasions that he came across a tall, lanky man wearing a truly horrendous jumper. It looked like something out of the ’70s, and judging by the threadbare cuffs, it might actually have come from that era.
He was so engrossed in the book in his hands that he didn’t notice Sirius at first. Sirius tried to carefully back away so his customer could browse without interruption. But his movement must have alerted the man to his presence as he looked up straight into Sirius’s eyes. And Sirius felt his stomach flip.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to disturb you.” He smiled apologetically at the man before him. “I can do a good deal on that one for you.” He gestured to the book in the man’s hands. “
“Oh, no… I can’t afford any of these books.” He blushed. “I just like looking at them. Choosing which ones I’d buy if I had the money. Plus the smell of them—it probably sounds silly, but I find it soothing.”
“This is my favourite aisle. Always come down here for at least five minutes before I go home. It’s the, er, smell for me too. I don’t know what it is, but all my troubles just seem to melt away…” Sirius stopped talking before he embarrassed himself further. The man carefully replaced the yellowing book on the shelf and straightened.
He didn’t know why, but Sirius wasn’t ready to say goodbye to this odd man. “You can come by and read as many of those books as you like. As long as you’re careful with them.” Normally, he would never let anyone actually sit and read, but he couldn’t help himself.
“Oh, are you sure? That’s incredibly kind of you. Er…”
“Sirius.” Sirius offered. The man smiled at him.
“Remus.”
Everyday after that, Remus came in and spent a couple of hours in the rare books section. Thankfully, he treated the books as though they could fall apart at any moment. Sometimes, he’d bring Sirius a coffee. Other times, they’d share a sandwich. Sirius got used to seeing Remus every day and felt the huge amount of disappointment when, after over a month, Remus didn’t come.
He wondered if he’d done something wrong. Sirius sat in the shop an hour after closing time. Just in case Remus turned up.
When the clock passed six, he gave up. He gathered his belongings and locked up. He turned to head home when he heard the sound of pounding feet on the pavement. He looked behind him, and a very dishevelled-looking Remus was running towards him.
“Oh my god! What happened to you?” He asked, worried about the state Remus was in.
“I’m so sorry I’m late. Some awful person stole my bag on the tube, and it had everything in it. My phone, my wallet, even my keys. I had to walk here because I didn't have any money for the train.”
“You had all that going on, and you still came to the bookshop? Are you mad?” Sirius asked, baffled by Remus’s choices.
“ No, I didn’t come all this way with only the clothes on my back to come to the bloody bookshop. I came to see you, you idiot!” Remus blurted out, exasperated. “Sirius, I don’t come into the shop everyday just to look at books.”
Something clicked in Sirius’s brain. Oh, he thought. He closed the gap between him and Remus and pressed a kiss to his lips. They parted, smiling dopily at each other.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s get something warm in you. Takeaway? My treat.” Sirius took his hand and pulled him in the direction of his flat.
“Yeah, okay then,” Remus replied as he followed Sirius home.

@wolfstarmicrofic March 14 – prompt 14: Polyjuice Potion – word count 700
Polyjuice Potion - Temporarily transforms the drinker into another person
Remus looked up from his book as Sirius and James stumbled in from the portrait hole. It wasn’t unusual for those two to disappear somewhere together, but the fact that Sirius’s shirt and trousers were baggier than what he usually wore and, conversely, James’s were very tight was.
“Did you two finally shag and put each other’s clothes back on by mistake?” Lily piped up from the carpet where Peter was absolutely destroying her at chess.
“You wish, Evans,” Sirius said.
“Admit it, you can’t take your eyes off me like this,” James added, pirouetting to show the way his trousers were clinging to his skin.
Remus frowned. Something wasn’t right.
“There’s something weird about you two,” Mary voiced his thoughts from the armchair where she was braiding Marlene’s hair. “I mean, weirder than usual.”
James winked while Sirius passed a hand through his hair and suddenly it clicked.
“No!” Peter exclaimed, apparently having come to Remus’s same conclusion.
He got up and walked over to their friends, looking at them closely.
“You didn’t!” he stepped back, eyes wide.
“Did what, exactly?” Marlene asked.
“These two went and drank Polyjuice Potion!” Peter said. “How did you do it?”
“Slughorn’s personal stash,” James and Sirius chorused.
“Wait, so you,” Mary pointed at James, “are really Sirius?”
“Correct,” ‘James’ bowed.
“And you are actually James?” Lily pointed at Sirius.
“You know it, Evans,” ‘Sirius’ smiled.
Remus got up from the couch, eyes fixed on his friends. And then it clicked again.
“For how long will it last?” he asked.
“No clue,” ‘James’ smirked.
“We might be back to ourselves by tomorrow, or we might not,” ‘Sirius’ shrugged.
“But why did-“ Remus started before pinching the bridge of his nose. “No, you know what? Don’t tell me. I’m going to bed. Pete, you coming?”
It didn’t take long for the other two to follow them into the dorm, but it was enough. Peter closed his curtains with a yawn and Remus settled in bed as he peeked at ‘Sirius’ flop down on James’s bed while ‘James’ climbed into Sirius’s before turning the lights out with a flick of his wand. Remus waited a couple of minutes then he got up and tiptoed to Sirius’s bed, silently parting the curtains.
“Pads?” he called softly.
“Moony?” James’s voice hesitated.
“Why?”
Remus settled on the mattress, searching for Sirius’s hand and ending up taking one of James’s calloused hands in his.
“It was fun?”
“If you say so. But it’s weird for me, talking to you and hearing James’s voice instead…” Remus reached up and let his fingers wander on the other’s mouth, ignoring the strangled sound which came from it. He got closer. “Or feeling James’s lips…”
The kiss lasted a couple of seconds before three things happened all at once. ‘James’ jolted back from Remus with so much force he fell of the bed.
“PRONGS, DON’T YOU DARE KISS MY BOYFRIEND!” came from James’s bed.
“LUMOS MAXIMA!” Peter shouted from his.
Remus blinked against the light, taking in James sprawled on the floor, Sirius wide-eyed by James’s bed and Peter, wand in hand, smirking from his.
“You really thought you could play us?” Peter said. “Make your two best friends believe you had swapped bodies?”
“It was worth a try,” James grumbled.
“Not so sure,” Sirius said, eyes fixed on Remus.
“Boyfriend, eh?” Remus smiled.
“I mean…” Sirius blushed. “If you’d like?”
Remus shook his head, laughing.
“I’d love to, you idiot.”
Sirius crossed the room and jumped on the bed, kissing Remus fiercely.
“Fucking finally,” Remus heard Peter say.
“You knew?!” James exclaimed.
“Of course I knew, Prongs, I’ve got eyes.”
Remus laughed again in Sirius’s kiss and they let go of each other, both smiling.
“Well, I learned two new things today, then,” James said, getting up from the floor.
“One is Pads and Moony because you’re oblivious, but what’s the other one?” Peter asked.
James looked at Remus and immediately looked away, blushing.
“Apparently, I’m not straight,” he said.
“Prongs, what the hell?” Sirius groaned as Remus and Peter burst out laughing.
“And that’s what you get for playing your friends for fools,” Remus smirked, pecking his boyfriend on the cheek.

Crimson Rivers thoughts pt. 12
chapter 22:
1. 😟😟 all james wants is for sirius to be there for james the way james ALWAYS was for sirius
2. 😟 james wished hodge happy birthday even though hodge died yesterday. i- i am not okay
3. “Regulus never fails to look up. Evan would be proud of him for that, he thinks.” 😧 that was vile to put in there
4. james has resorted to BEGGING for medicine from sirius and can’t understand why sirius won’t send any. this hurts so bad

7. REGULUS AND JAMES ARE REUNITED!!! THANK GOD!!! 😊
8. 😧 wait nevermind. james just mistook regulus for sirius. “James has never, not once in his life under any circumstances, mistaken Regulus for Sirius”
9. james is delulu from medicine and reg just found out that the plan has always been to get reg home. this hits like a motherfucking truck
10. james is high as a fucking kite, can’t figure out why “sirius” is being mean to him, cause he’s never been mean to him. and is also wondering why “sirius” is oddly attractive for being mean
11. it takes james half a chapter, and reg cutting his shirt for james to realize it’s not sirius. cause sirius has different scars. i love james sm 😭😭
12. “What was Sirius thinking? Drugging James? In the middle of the fucking hunger games? That might be the most idiotic thing Regulus has ever known his brother to do, and this is Sirius he's talking about, so that's saying a lot. Sirius once flipped a cigarette in the air and tried to catch it with his mouth while it was lit, and kept doing it until he could actually consistently manage it, no matter how much it burned him. Though, in fairness, he can still do that trick to this day.”
LMAO WHAT??? that’s so random and i love it
13. 😧 legit sobbing. reg says that james lost the spark in his eyes. and he’s the one person he expected to never lose his spark
14. reg reveals that they both can go home. james’ spark is back. i’m sobbing harder now. they’re so in love

(Not so micro, but written for @wolfstarmicrofic! Extremely Pining Sirius and Extremely Oblivious Remus Lupin)
6th: Bond
Sirius doesn't tick any of Remus’ boxes. No matter how strong their bond is, no matter how Sirius is the only one who gives Remus that sense of belonging, they're just not compatible... Right?
The Thing We Don't Talk About
“He made the wrong decision,” Remus says pointedly. “And he has to live with it. Why would I have to suffer the consequences for his mistakes?”
“For god’s sake, Remus,” Lily says exasperatedly. “He just took a bite from your dessert!”
“It was chocolate cake!” Remus glares at Lily. “And it’s not that hard! If you want dessert, order dessert, if you don’t want dessert, don’t order dessert, but leave me out of it!”
“So,” Marlene says, sipping her tea. “I take it there’s not going to be a second date?”
“Certainly not,” Remus says. “He clearly doesn’t have the same values as I have.”
Mary rolls her eyes. “ ‘Wanting to share dessert’, we can add that to the list. What did the previous one do again? Put sugar in his tea, was it?”
“It was the perfect blend, and he ruined it!”
“Remus,” Lily says carefully. “Have you ever wondered if maybe you are too critical?”
“When I was picking out curtains you made me go to five different stores and try out four different samples before making a decision!” Remus replies. “How am I allowed to be critical about a piece of fabric, but not about the person I might spend the rest of my life with?”
“Because it’s getting you nowhere!” Mary exclaims. “You’ll end up being single your whole life.”
“I want someone who’s the same kind of person as I am, who’s on the same page as me, who shares my interests and preferences, and otherwise, I’d rather be alone,” Remus shrugs.
“But surely someone doesn’t have to share all your interests!” Lily tries.
“Am I really asking for so much?” Remus asks. “Someone whose favourite moments also consist of drinking a perfect cup of tea with their favourite pastry, shares my interest in art history and loves to go to museums, and also listens to classical music. I don’t even care about his job or his looks!” Remus sighs. “Maybe the guy I’m looking for just cannot be found in the city. Maybe I should broaden my search to out of town.”
“Or maybe you should narrow your search to within your apartment,” Marlene mumbles, looking out of the window.
“Marlene!” Lily says warningly.
“Oh, come on, Lily!” Marlene suddenly snaps. “I’m sick of it! I’m sick of having to deal with these pretentious idiots Remus keeps going out with, when he has this perfect, drop-dead gorgeous man, who literally worships the very ground he walks on, living in right in his own bloody apartment!”
“I know, Marlene,” Lily says. “But Remus can’t help it if he just doesn’t feel that way-”
“Sirius isn’t in love with me,” Remus interrupts.
Lily stops mid-sentence and both she and Marlene whip their heads around to stare at Remus, while Mary spits out her tea and starts to cough.
“Please tell me you’re kidding,” Lily says eventually, as she finds her voice.
Remus blinks. “You actually think Sirius is in love with me?”
“No,” Mary says slowly. “We know Sirius is in love with you. He has been since our second year of college.”
“Why did no one ever thought to tell me?” Remus exclaims.
“It’s so obvious!” Marlene exclaims. “We assumed you knew! Hell, everybody and their nan knows! Literally. I saw Dorcas’ nan the other day, and the first thing she asked me was ‘is that Sirius boy still pining after that Remus boy?’”
Remus looks from one girl to the other. “If I had known, don’t you think I would’ve somehow acknowledged it, at least once?”
“We assumed you just didn’t feel the same,” Mary says, eying Remus. “And that not mentioning it was your way of dealing with it, so you wouldn’t have to hurt Sirius.”
“Wait,” Lily says. “When you and Sirius moved in together after college, James had this talk with Sirius where he asked him whether it was really a good idea, and you were right there! James told Sirius it wasn’t good for his mental health, and that he was just torturing himself by doing it! What the hell did you think that was about?”
Remus stares at the table, his cheeks heating up. He remembers that conversation. He remembers feeling slightly insulted by James’ words and he remembers Sirius assuring James that it was fine, that he could handle it. “I thought he meant because I always leave my dirty dishes in the sink,” he mumbles.
Lily looks at him, then shakes her head. “Unbelievable. Unbe-fucking-lievable.”
“It... It doesn’t matter anyway,” Remus says, trying to sound convincing while his head is spinning. “Sirius and I are so different. We’re not compatible, not at all.”
Remus had first met Sirius at a party when they just started college. Sirius was the light of the party, everyone was drawn to him. Remus learned that Sirius Black was loud and impulsive, drank black coffee and cheap beer, listened to rock music and was into motorcycles.
He didn’t even come close to ticking Remus’ boxes.
Remus had written Sirius off as boyfriend material back then and never reconsidered. He had written Sirius off, and never thought to revise that decision. Even when Sirius and he unexpectedly became close friends and formed a strong bond, even when he learned how smart, loyal and caring Sirius is, even when he could talk to Sirius about anything, even when he didn’t feel as comfortable just being himself with anyone else as he did with Sirius, even when Sirius somehow became ‘home’, Remus did not come back on his decision and didn’t revise it.
“H-he doesn’t even drink tea!” Remus exclaims.
“What does that matter if he knows exactly how to make your favourite tea to bring it to you whenever you feel sick?” Marlene says.
“And... And he doesn’t like sweet foods.”
“What does that matter if he goes out of his way to go to that bakery on the other side of town to get you those cinnamon rolls you love so much whenever you feel down?” Mary says.
“He doesn’t know the first thing about art history!”
“What does that matter if he can listen to you go on about if for hours?” Marlene says.
“We don’t even like the same music...”
“Remus,” Lily says gently. “You once told me that your favourite part of the day is doing the dishes together with Sirius, as you put awful music on and both sing along as loud as you can and dance around the living room together. What does it matter, what does any of it matter, when you’ve got someone who makes you feel like that?”
For a long moment, Remus just stares at her. Then he suddenly gets up from his chair. “I have to go.”
Sirius is standing in the kitchen, his hair tied in a bun, humming to himself while mixing ingredients together in a bowl.
As Remus looks at him, he wonders how he did not see sooner what was right in front of him?
Sirius turns his head and gives Remus a bright smile when he sees him. “You’re home early!” He says, turning back to the bowl. “I’m making your mother’s chocolate cake, and it was supposed to be a surprise.” He gives Remus a brief grin. “To help you cope with the Dessert Sharing Trauma.”
Remus just says it. “You’re in love with me.”
“Yes?” Sirius asks while measuring flour.
Remus shakes his head. He still can’t quite wrap his head around it. “You’re in love with me.”
Sirius frowns. “Right. Are we suddenly talking about this now? I thought we agreed it’s the Thing We Don’t Talk About.”
Remus sighs, cursing himself for letting this go on for so long. “Maybe it shouldn’t be.”
Sirius turns away from the kitchen counter to look at Remus. “Really? You’re worried about this now? Look, Remus,” He runs a hand over his face, leaving a streak of flower. “It’s okay. I’ve got it under control. Besides, I know I’m not what you’re looking for, so don’t worry about me getting any false hope or anything.” He rolls his eyes. “I don’t tick any of your boxes after all.”
“You don’t,” Remus replies. “You’re uncultured, prefer starters over desserts, and can’t tell the difference between Earl Grey and English Breakfast.”
Sirius smiles sadly. “Yeah, I know.”
He moves to turn back to the kitchen counter, but Remus draws his attention back to him.
“You’re all that,” he says, walking towards Sirius. “You’re all that,” he says, lowering his voice as he stops in front of Sirius, placing a hand on his cheek, brushing away some of the flour, and looking at him in wonder. “And yet, I love you.”
He moves forward, but Sirius stops him with a hand on his shoulder. “I won’t change,” he says with a pained expression, but also a glimmer of hope, in his eyes. “I am who I am. Even if I feel like I would do just about anything to have a chance, I know I can’t – I shouldn’t – change who I am. Not even for you.”
“Good.” Remus smiles. “Because you’re perfect.”

Brother
‘You’ve been avoiding me,’ Sirius said, a note of accusation in his voice. Remus looked up from his book.
‘No I haven’t.’
‘Liar.’
Remus put his book down, pushed his chair back and scrambled to his feet.
‘Don’t do that - don’t run away.’
Sirius’s command stopped him in his tracks, and he turned back to look at him - wishing he could be anywhere but here.
‘You’ve been hiding for days - from me. You leave when I enter a room, you take yourself off where no one will think to look for you and when - on the rare occasion - you absolutely can’t avoid me…’ he gestured to the book lying abandoned on the table, ‘you stick your nose in a book and use it like a shield. You’ve been freezing me out. And I don’t know why. What have I done wrong?’
Remus took a deep breath and stared up at the ceiling. ‘We’re not doing this now.’
‘Well, I’m doing this now - so you’ll just have to join in.’
Remus turned to leave again.
‘No!’ Sirius reached out and grabbed his wrist, turning him back to face him. And with the feel of Sirius’s hand on his skin, it was like an explosion had gone off in Remus’s head. Or his heart. Or his balls. He wasn’t sure which but something had exploded and suddenly - and much to his own horror - he couldn’t stop talking.
‘Fine - I’ll tell you what’s wrong. It’s me. I am. The way I feel, the way I think. What I want. All of it is wrong. And I’m jealous - all the time. Because I love someone so deeply and they don't love me back, I know I can only ever be second best to them… I watch you together - you with him - you’re so close, and you do anything for him, die for him if you had to - and I’m just an afterthought. And it’s nothing you’re doing wrong, I know that. This is my problem. You feel how you feel - you love who you love - but it’s killing me knowing you love him and not me.’
Sirius was by now wearing the rather concussed expression of someone who had just been hit over the head with the blunt force trauma of raw emotion and unrequited love. ‘This is about…’ he shook his head as if to clear it. ‘You… and me?... and James?’
Remus said nothing, but sniffed a little, which came out as a rather panicky inhale.
‘I do love James but… he’s like … James is my brother. But you…’
‘What?’ he sounded defensive even to his own ears. ‘What about me?’
‘You… idiot…’ and Sirius stepped forward, cupped Remus’s face with his hand - and kissed him tenderly on the lips.

Wintery 🌨️
Muggle Bookshop AU. Words: 999. @wolfstarmicrofic
-
"Describe me as a season," Sirius prompted, circling his last quiz answer.
Lily and James were assembling a small-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower for the bookshop.
"Am I more of a Summer, Spring—’
"You're doing it wrong, love," Lily said, batting James’s hands away.
"I think I'm doing it the way the instructions said to assemble it, dear."
Lily narrowed her eyes. "Well, the instructions were written by an idiot because it doesn’t make sense for that piece to go there, darling."
"You know what—" James lunged at her, wrapping her in his arms and attacking her face and neck with kisses.
"James!" Lily gasped.
Sirius retorted, "You know, some of us are single and really need to finish this quiz so they know whether they're going to die alone or find out what zodiac sign their true love is."
“Black, that magazine does not know your future,” Lily said.
The metaphorical cloud of loneliness over Sirius’s head started to pour torrential rain.
"What about a new hobby?” James asked. “One that isn’t taking apart and reassembling your motorbike alone in your garage all day?”
Sirius glared at him.
“Join the shop’s book club!” Lily urged. “The 28th of each month. You might meet some people so you're not so—so—"
Sirius raised an eyebrow. "Pathetic?"
Lily pursed her lips. "’Isolated,’ is what I was going to say."
Sirius dropped his chin down to the counter, doodling a goatee on a celebrity's face.
“You’re bored,” James said. “The only time you’re yourself is when you get a new tattoo, and that only lasts a couple days. Plus, you’re running out of room.”
“I’m not bored, Jamie,” Sirius hissed. “I’m depressed. Desolate. My life is stuck in the melancholic shadow of life’s woe and can’t escape.”
“Bookclub,” Lily sang. “You’ll fit right in.”
James rolled his eyes at Sirius. “You’re bored, mate. The boredom is making you tired. And then you fixate on how tired you are, and it makes you feel down. And then you feel tired because you’re down. It’s a self-sabotaging cycle.”
“Congrats, Jamie! You solved depression. The world can rest easy with your genius. Now, can you tell me what damn season I am?”
“You used to go out,” James argued. “What about all the meet-ups? The receptionist from the tattoo parlour? That club bartender? The guys who always flirt and invite you to ride on Sundays? It’s like you don’t even try anymore—”
“Love,” Lily warned.
Sirius watched Lily move from the corner of his eye. He bit his lip, scribbling a messy, inky black hole into the margin of the magazine.
She smoothed her hand over his leather-jacketed shoulder. “What’s going on?”
Sirius puffed out his cheeks and threw down the pen. “I decided that I didn’t want to be ‘Sirius from the tattoo parlour’ or ‘Sirius from the club.’” He shot James a dark look. “And I found out the hard way that people don’t like me. They only like Sirius who rides recklessly, and drinks too much, and gets stupid tattoos just to fill up space.”
Lily placed her hand on his cheek and turned his face up to hers.
He frowned at her. “But no one likes the me that wants to stay home on a Sunday. Or not get pissed every weekend. The me that likes black and white reruns at night.” Sirius shrugged. “No one likes me. Not like how you two like each other, and…”
“Winter.” Lily smiled down at him. “You’re wintery. Contemplative, like falling snow. Nostalgic and cozy. People forget how nice it is just to relax with family, bundled up in sweaters. Or searching for that perfect tree to decorate, eating biscuits, listening to carols by the fire.”
Sirius stared up at her with puppy eyes, sad and vulnerable.
“I’m sorry, man…” James smiled apologetically. “And you do give the best gifts. You’ve got holiday season written all over you.”
“It’s also harsh,” Sirius mumbled. “People don’t like winter.”
“Maybe you’ve been surrounded by too many Summer people—”
The shop bells chimed for a tall man donning an oversized sweater, chunky scarf, and woolly cap.
“—Re! You only have two weeks. Cutting it close this time.” She retrieved a book from behind the counter.
Remus slid off his gloves. “Yeah, I was out visiting my parents since I won’t see them over the hols.”
“Work?” Lily frowned.
“Poinsettias don’t prune themselves.” Remus caught Sirius’s eye then turned back to Lily, blushing furiously.
Sirius smirked.
“Well, maybe we can throw a party for us stragglers.” She waved towards Sirius. “This would be one of them. Sirius meet Remus. He’s in the bookclub you said you were going to attend this month.”
Sirius stared confused, but Lily widened her eyes and nodded subtly.
“Uh, yeah! Hi—” Sirius jumped to his feet to shake Remus’s hand, gazing at all the faded brown scratches.
“Accident. And I’m a florist. Lots of de-thorning,” Remus explained pre-emptively. “Also a werewolf in my free time.”
“I thought your lot only transformed on full moons?” Sirius teased.
Remus ducked his head. “Propaganda,” he answered shyly. He cleared his throat, lifting the book. “How are you liking the monthly so far?”
Sirius blinked slowly. “Yeah—um—I shouldn’t spoil it for you?”
“Fair enough.” Remus chuckled. “Must either be really good or really shite then.”
Remus paid Lily, waving to Sirius one last time. “I’ll see you at the club meeting.”
Sirius nodded helplessly, brimming with curiosity over this charmingly awkward man with faded scars on his face and a stupid pom-pom on his woolly cap.
Lily shouted after Remus, “Don’t stay out in the snow too long!”
Remus smiled from the door. “Nah, it’s fine. Winter’s my favorite season.”
He left, and Sirius turned to Lily who was already holding the novel-of-the-month.
“On the house, Black. You have two weeks to finish it.”
-
Sirius read it twice. Even took notes.
It was, indeed, shite.

𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐦𝐞 — r. lupin

REMUS LUPIN x f!reader
⌗︙・ summary — months after graduating from hogwarts, you and the gang - remus, james, sirius, and lily - reunite for some drinks and a good time. but didn't you know? not-so-drunk words are still sober thoughts...
based on — “Please, stop smiling at me like that. I’m not sure what will happen if you keep doing that.” (dm for creds! i forgot sorry)
contains — pining!!!, remus and reader are blind to each other's affection, siri and james are drunk in the bg lol, awkwardness, fluff ending
notes — i love remus with all my heart. i missed writing for him sm!
“MY MONEY’S ON Potter,” you grin, watching as James drunkenly leans against Lily’s shoulder, his fingers dancing across her palms. The redhead gazes down at him fondly.
“Well, I personally think it’ll be Padfoot.”
From across the table, Remus smiles, head lowered to meet yours, a conniving smile on his face. You raise an eyebrow, failing to force down a grin.
“Sirius? Really? The man can hold his rum, you of all people should know that, Remus.”
He shrugs, smiling and leaning back against his seat. His arm raises to take a swig of his Butterbeer, and you watch, mildly transfixed, as the muscles in his shoulders ripple.
“Still. He’s got a weak stomach, the idiot; For all the alcohol he drinks, he seems to spew out three times the amount.”
Remus tilts his head back, a flushed smile on his face. Your heart stumbles a little.
“He’ll be the first to the bathroom, I assure you.”
The comment has you snapping out of your daze, and you laugh breathily, shaking your head as you turn to watch Sirius dance - rather, stumble - to the music playing.
“Betting on which of our friends throws up first.” You smirk, taking a sip of your own drink. “‘S this what our friendship’s come to, Remmy?”
It’s a Friday night, and the group - you, Lily, the Marauders - are at your local pub. It’s a much needed break away from the tedious chore of adult life; You’re just a few months shy from a year out of Hogwarts, and you’d be lying if you said things haven’t been tough.
“Well then,” Remus says, grabbing your hand. There’s a pink flush on his face that tells you he’s a swig away from tipsy. And he does usually get touchy as the night progresses. “Tell me. How’ve you been, love?”
Your cheeks immediately heat, and you swat your hand away with a playful scoff.
“Told ‘ya to stop calling me that,” you murmur, suddenly feeling immensely shy. You’ve never done well with being alone with Remus; Being the only object of his attention has your stomach erupting into butterflies and tingles and all that.
Love.
He merely grins, chuckling. “Sorry, sorry. You know how cute y’get when you’re angry.”
Remus would never admit it aloud, the embarrassment alone would kill him, but the way your cheeks flame, the way you immediately duck your head, a shy smile peeking through: It makes him proud that he’s the source of your reaction.
9 months away from you, and you still manage to make him feel as giddily in love as he was when you first met.
Tumblr media
Hogwarts that day was particularly lonely for Remus; The rest of the Marauders were off doing Merlin knows what, most likely formulating some ragtag plot to prank one of the professors again. Remus, on the other hand, had homework to do - Unlike some people, he liked to make a conscious effort not to get expelled.
So there he was, alone in the library, surrounded by books. Really, it was all he needed, all he should have needed. But as he watched a nearby couple giggle at each other over a stack of books, he suddenly felt a pang of loneliness.
Of heartache.
“Erm, ‘scuse me.”
Remus started, glancing up. And there you were.
Standing before him under the faint shine of a lamp, glowing like the angel you were. A soft smile gracing your features, head tilted to the side.
He finds himself suddenly at a loss for words, stumbling over himself as he stutters out, “I- Yes, er - pardon the mess - can I help you?”
You chuckle, and Remus wracks his brain trying to think what on Earth was so funny. But you just give another small smile that sends his heart racing, and gesture towards the seat beside him.
“Is this seat taken?” you whisper.
Immediately, as if on its own accord, his head is shaking. Fervently.
It’s almost embarrassing, really, how eager Remus is. He is acutely aware of just how uncontrollably forward he’s being - His hands have instinctively drawn up a chair for you, and they’re now clearing a space for you.
You flash him a smile - brilliant, dazzling - and he swears he’s died and gone to heaven.
Trying to recover some semblance of politeness, he returns back to his books while you set up your things, but, oh.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spots you pull out a beaten up copy of what just happens to be his favourite book.
Feeling his gaze on you, you flush, looking up to catch his eye.
This sends him in a tizzy, a flustered mess. But you don’t seem to mind, even quirking up your lips into an amused smile.
“Is there something on my face?” you muse, teasing.
Heat sears through his cheeks, his face red. “No! I just… I was admiring your book,” he gestures wildly to said book.
“This old thing?” you raise a brow, shrugging. You turn to him, a gleam in your eye. “Why, have you read it?”
A smile breaks across Remus’s face, and it tells you everything you need to know.
You two are going to get along just fine.
Tumblr media
A sudden realisation hits you, in this moment, seated across from Remus in this dingy bar.
Time is not on your side. Truthfully, it never really was; But now, it is your greatest adversary. Gone are the opportunities to catch him momentarily in the Hogwarts corridors. Your shared peaceful study sessions are no more. Both of you have busy schedules, and catch-ups are sparse.
You fear you may lose him forever.
“I missed you, y’know that, right, love?”
You raise your head, surprised to find a sudden tenderness in Remus’ gaze.
Something in your voice breaks as you say, quietly, “Really?”
And Remus feels it in his heart too - The slight crack that wedges in his chest, the feeble cry of your name that bubbles up in his throat. He coughs, face aflame, and brushes past it.
“Yeah. Mean, ‘course I did. Missed all of ya - the guys and Lily and all that.”
Your heart sinks. Of course. He doesn’t miss you in particular - It was foolish of you to think, even for a second, that you’d be special in his eyes.
Years and years of pining, days spent trying to talk yourself out of this silly crush, nights ranting to Lily about how “stupid this is! This is just so stupid!”. All that, and for what?
You nod tersely. A silence lapses between you two, the tension so thick it feels as if you’re suffocating under the weight of it.
Remus frowns at the way you sit stiffly, strangely stoic and quiet opposite him. The look in your eyes - just moments ago, alight with glee and mirth - has deflated into something sullen. Defeated.
“Hey,” he reaches towards you. You look down at his hand - familiar and comforting - stretched towards you over the table. His thumb skims over your knuckles, and you can feel the weight of his gaze on you. But you don’t dare to look back up at him.
“What’s the matter? You’ve gone all quiet,” he says worriedly.
You shake your head, tersely.
A hand reaches to tilt your head up; You swat it away, harmlessly, but can’t stop the slight smile that breaks across your face at the ticklish feeling.
He grins, and now his head tilts to the side, observing you as you try to recompose your face. Again, he reaches out to touch you - this time, a bop on the nose.
“Remus,” you huff, unable to stop the slight chuckle that escapes you. “What in the name of Merlin are you doing?”
The smile on his face, so warm and true, makes you stop.
“Jus’ wanted to see you smile,” he grazes a thumb over your cheek, and you feel clammy all over.
“Stop that,” you murmur, still, not pulling away.
A playful grin makes its way across Remus’s face. He leans over - the tall bastard - and cups your face. His hands are warm against your skin, and you pray they hide the sudden heat that rushes to your cheeks.
“Please, stop smiling at me like that. I’m not sure what will happen if you keep doing that,” you say, squeezing your eyes shut.
There’s a shuffling noise, and Remus’s hands are retracting. You keep your eyes screwed tightly shut, feeling your own resolve crumbling as you feel a warm body press against your side.
“Love,” Remus whispers, his breath hot on the side of your neck. A shudder ripples through your body.
You shake your head, eyes still shut.
“Love,” he says again, slower, softer this time. “Can I… Can I kiss you?”
Your heart stops.
When you open your eyes, your breath hitches - You’re so close, so unbearably close to the lycanthrope it makes your heart burn. You blink rapidly, trying your best to look anywhere, anywhere, except into his eyes.
The slightest smirk makes its way across his face, and then his fingers are on your chin, gently manoeuvring your head around to face his.
All you can manage is a breathless, “Oh.”
He laughs, loud, hearty. And then a soft blush settles across his cheeks.
“Oh.”
You stay like this for a moment longer, the two of you; Remus’s fingers resting lightly on your face, you blushing madly. Entangled in each other’s existence.
He's the first to break the silence: “Are you gonna let me kiss you, love?”
This time, you can’t stop the smile on your face.
But the one on his face when you kiss him is a thousand times better.
