"I'm your Huckleberry"
Back in 2020 when the world turned upside down... I needed something to make sense and started a "Quarantine Journal".
Each day, I'd make a piece of art based off of my favorite movie or tv character and then on the next page... I'd write down anything that happened that day.
Apparently day 73 was Doc Holliday from Tombstone.
It's weird looking back on these 4 years later. But, I'm glad I did them.
Sending Big Hugs from the Hobbit Hole. ♥♥♥

Found myself wanting to finish the phrase, "if you need anything, I'm your ___" but like "I'm your guy" or "I'm your girl" were not accurate. So I was like what do I say instead? First thing that occurred to me was "I'm your huckleberry" and I was like yes. Perfect. I am a huckleberry.

I finished reading I’m your huckleberry by Val Kilmer and it was so good. I didn’t want to put it down. He had so many fun behind the scenes stories and little notes. It was like getting to delve into Val’s mind and understand him a little more and the characters that he has played

I've been sharing on my IG my ever-growing garden this year, but since rekindling my presence on here, I'd like to share my recent pics!
I love growing sustainable plants like herbs and edible flowers, but this year I took a stab at growing huckleberries, and they've just taken off! I grew them all from seed and have been nurturing them since March. 💜 I have just about enough to make a small batch of huckleberry preserves, which I've never even done as a process!
I also have 2 kinds of basil (lettuce leaf & purple), dill, snapdragon flowers, chamomile, 2 kinds of tomatoes (black cherry & true beefsteak heirloom), tarragon, sage (broadleaf), thyme (German), borage, spearmint, catnip, and carrots (danver). Out front is just a patch of wildflower mix I have for our local pollinators, too. 😊
I have so many more pics on my IG since I've been a proud plant mom since before spring even sprung. I wish I could garden all year 'round, but the Midwest is not kind. 😭

I’ve been re-reading I’m Your Huckleberry lately, and one of the things that struck me this time is the idea that its okay to be the main character of your life. It’s important to love, and to be selfless, and to deeply connect with people or ideas, but at the end of the day, this is your trip around this planet and you have to do all you can to make this your story.
I don’t live my life out loud, I never really have. But if there’s anything I can take away from this go around of my beloved paper back that has been soaked in tea, pool water, and has seen more of my life than just about any other book, is that as long as you’re the main character of your own story, that’s what counts the most.
This is your life, make it a story you’d eagerly tell your grandkids.
