To start it off, he didn't pay attention to you when he heard that another survivor was joining the manor, but he didn't expect to run across you one day, it was just him walking down the hall until he heard a tune echoing through the halls leading him to you, sitting on a stool playing your cello.

Your second encounter happened at a match, you greeted him with an anxious face, you were the one conversing with him at first, with him politely replying whatever he could, joining him on ciphers and such asking him questions about the manor and games.

It wasn't until you told him that you were a renowned musician, a cellist, which of course intrigued him, yes there were still some people who used instruments such as the Antiquarian and the Violinist, but never had he actually had a conversation with them about music and such. After all, Antiquarian didn't really count as a musician to him and the Violinist was a nono.

You then started inviting him to join you in simple things such as tea, or showcasing your instruments, in which he noticed you focused on him as he played with his piano, sometimes even asking you to play which you declined multiple times saying you aren't experienced with it.

There are also times in which you asked him to play you a song which you complimented! He must say he enjoys those praises.

Of course, he was the same with you, you always see him focusing on how you played your instrument, especially when he has no experience in playing it, letting out small compliments here and there ending it with a small clap.

I can say that he enjoys collaborating with you for fun, composing short songs and music here and there.

As time passed by, I can say that he became more open to you, and visits became more recent as well! Mostly it consists of you two having tea, picnics, playing with your instruments, or him showing you a new piece he just recently composed and needs your opinion on it! (He says to spare no criticism and be honest), he'd also love to hear you play too and will most definitely give his opinions on it.

Adding on, he'd also share with you his life pre-manor, and would appreciate it if you share yours too! Despite being in the manor, he still continues to compose music of course, though, those would often be left as drafts forgotten. Sometimes, he wishes that maybe he had met you earlier.

XIE doesn't immediately express any curiosity towards it, unlike fan and luchino.

. fan shows more interest in the mask than xie. he understands if it's for your own comfort, and won't force you to take it off for him whether or not you're in a relationship.

. both xie and fan don't pressure you about it and let you take your time with them. the two of them are very loyal and patient, so it's not a worry with them.

. xie is always very gentle and soft with you, he would be happy to see your face. just knowing that you're comfortable enough with him to reveal yourself just like that - it must not be a very easy thing to do.

. but then again, unmasked or not, it will not affect your relationship in any way. he's very loving towards you, and it remains like so.

FAN is more straightforward and outwardly expressive than xie - if he takes interest in your mask, expect a few questions about it.

. though that does not mean that fan would continuously prod about the topic; if he sees that you're uncomfortable with it he would stop immediately. though the reason as to why you wear it remains unknown, he keeps his mouth shut if you express any discomfort about the topic.

. you can't have a good relationship without trust and patience; fan knows that. he tries his best to be patient with you, and doesn't pressure you into anything. he understands your boundaries and doesn't cross them, he just learns how to shut up about it.

. fan understands the gravity of this gesture; he would be grateful that you trust him enough to show your face - something that you wouldn't do for just anyone. maybe after some time of being with him, you finally take it off. fan is proud about that gesture, and you know that he is.

LUCHINO's manic curiosity brings him success in the academic field, yet it also leads him into territories of taboo.

. luchino doesn't strike a conversation with someone first unless he finds them especially interesting. if something about you provoked the curiosity and interest in him, he'd approach you and start a conversation.

. similarly to fan, he may as well ask a few questions out of curiosity - though he understands if you don't want to disclose any of them. he might be a bit persistent on it, but ultimately doesn't mention it again.

. i believe he would be more casual than xie and fan once he sees you bare-faced. he doesn't find it that big of a deal; it's irrelevant to your relationship.

. though he knows and takes that as a sign of trust from you. he trusts you as well - you'd know from how he lets you in on his research and things he usually keeps private from others.

. he's glad you trust him enough, but something so small would never change your relationship. whatever you look like beneath that mask, he'd love you irregardless.

this was just my personal perception of wu chang and luchino, it might be a bit ooc ໒ っ˕ - ১ i've reread their lore multiple times to get a decent grip on their personalities, though i'm not sure if i did a very good job on it ! still, this was very fun to write ໒ ◜ ﻌ ◝ ১

An Unexpected Duet (composer x reader)

Grammar and spelling warning like usual

Fredricks nimble fingers graze across the piano sat in front of him. The light shinning in through the windows bounces off the reflectiveness of it and into the room. Illuminating the space and putting it into a calming atmosphere

It’s a peacefull and quiet afternoon so far. The matches have been finished, and he isn’t inclined on seeking you out right now. No, not at this moment.

He hasn’t touched his piano in so long that he’s almost too scared to play it. Scared that he might’ve forgotten his notes, forgotten how to play it at all.

But every sense of worry and doubt that flooded his mind just seconds ago vanish as soon as he rests his fingers on top of the keys. He starts to play, nothing really. But his mind oughts to wonder, and he starts to think about other things.

Things like you perhaps.

What you seem to not have caught on is the keen interest that the Composer seems to have of you. Over the past months, you have established an amazing friendship with the man that only seems to grow as time moves on. And with it seeming that you have all the time in the world, your friendship should only flourish from there.

That was the plan, until he caught feelings for you.

Falling in love was not part of the plan. Especially in a place chalk full of selfish individuals who only yern to cross the exit gate at the end of the day. To fall in love in a place like this seems crazy and unexpected, yet it happened none the less.

He continues to play, pressing down harder on each key until the originally peaceful melody turns hard and loud. People passing by the room can’t help but look in and see the Composer lost in thought and frustration.

Fredricks too lost in his own mind that he doesn’t even noticed the presence that sits itself down right next to him. Not until they start to play a few keys of their own does his eyes shot open.

“Y/n? I thought you were in a match?”

“I was, until I got sent back to the manor.” You say, looking at the piano keys. “But it seems you have something on your mind. I won’t bug you for answers, just tell me when your ready.”

Your calmness completely changes the mood of the song. Transforming the melody into a soothing lullaby. Your eyes are closed, and you look to be in a deep concentration that only makes Fredrick chuckle softly to himself. Slowly, he turns himself back to his piano. Turning this solo into a duet.

note: I got bored while writing the pt. 2 to the Postman fic so I started to think of this man and I was just like “gosh, I kinda love this man” and decided to write this. It’s kinda shit, but you wouldn’t be reading this if you hadn’t read it yourself soooo… eat up ‼️
