Behind the Scenes of The Unicorn and the Wasp (Part Six)
Excerpts from Jason Arnopp’s article in DWM 396:
DWM: How did you like working with Christopher Benjamin [who played Lord Eddison]
David Tennant: It's glorious. Although I have to say, it's one of those casts where you're delighted with everybody. I've worked with Fenella [Woolgar, who plays Agatha Christie] a couple of times, and I'm proud to announce to the world that her casting here was my idea! I think it's the first time a casting suggestion of mine has ever been taken up. And Tom Goodman-Hill [who plays Reverend Golightly] is a fantastic actor. He was buzzing brilliantly in the readthrough.
DWM: You auditioned for the part: were you sitting in a waiting room with a bunch of Christie-alikes?
Fenella Woolgar (Agatha Christie): Yes, that was hilarious. And even funnier, because there was another audition going on next door which couldn't have been more different: some guy was shouting, "I'm gonna kill your effing mother!" So I was standing there, thinking, "No, no, it's 1926! Focus!"
DWM: You've known David Tennant for a while, right?
Tom Goodman-Hill (Reverand Golightly): Since drama school days, so we've got lots of mutual friends. I remember talking to him, just after he got the Doctor Who job, about how we grew up on Tom Baker and Peter Davison's Doctors. Although I'm a little older than David, so I also remember a bit of Pertwee.

happy work in progress wednesday!! here's a passage from my current multichapter wip! the premise is fallen angel vash au, but this is an interaction in chapter nine with livio :)
---
“A roommate?” Livio’s eyebrows shoot up. “In that tiny rental?”
“Well, it wasn’t—planned. He’s sleeping on the couch.” Wolfwood scratches the side of his neck. “But yeah. His name’s Vash. He’s…” Wolfwood struggles for the right word to use to describe his roommate, actively fighting the urge to call him angelic or heavenly, knowing how that would sound to his brother. (Even if it would be really funny to recount to Vash later.) “He’s a nice guy. You’d probably like him.”
Livio’s eyes widen. “A nice guy. You like him!”
“I—what?”
“As a person,” Livio clarifies with a hand lifted. “Unless—”
“No.”
“Okay, then as a person.” Livio grins. “But you definitely do. The only other person you’ve ever outright called nice is that Millie Thompson.”
Wolfwood can’t deny that—or at least he can’t deny that Millie is nice—but it’s a little humiliating that Livio has been keeping track. “...So? I’m living with him, I’m allowed to like him.”

“If I’m going to say goodbye to you, I’m going to do it properly.” He tries to put real intention into it, fooling them both into believing that he has some kind of upper hand here.
“Okay,” Ray agrees immediately. “Anything, I’m yours.”
It’s not a confession. He knows it’s not. Still, overwhelmed, Sand bites down on the fresh mark he’s left under Ray’s jawline, loving the unresisting way he sways up into him, loving his shockingly tender hand on his neck, loving the way he knows his body, loving everything about him.
Closing his eyes, he eases himself down into this bad decision like he’s crawling into his own grave. Mine, he thinks.
After Halloween mistakes, half-baked apologies, and helpless reconnections, Sand struggles to untangle himself from Ray's life, and ends up back in his bed.

You’re entitled to feel upset about people you left behind.
You left them for a reason but you are entitled to miss them and to feel broken over a right decision every now and then.
Allow yourself to grieve the loss of someone that was once dear to you and understand that not everyone is meant to stay.
