A commission for a lovely Dragon Age and Modern Girl In Thedas enthusiast! The Breach background was a challenge but I really enjoy the idea of comparing how a person fares in two different worlds.

Fenris Lavellan || The Hanged Queen of Swords
XII. The Hanged Man
Upright: ultimate surrender, sacrifice, new perspectives, breaking old patterns, metamorphosis, letting go, or being suspended in time.
The Hanged Man understands that her position is a sacrifice that she needs to make in order to progress forward - whether as repentance for past wrongdoings, or a calculated step backward to recalculate her path onward. This time she spends here will not be wasted, she does this as part of her progression forward. Her upside down state can also symbolize the feeling of those that walk a spiritual path, for they see the world differently. Where there are others that do not understand the need to sacrifice, Fenris sees it differently. This is a natural course of action for her as she walks the path alone.
The Queen of Swords
Upright: honest, independent, fair, empathetic, encouraging, protective, perceptive, supportive, unbiased judgement, clear boundaries, or direct communication
The Queen of Swords is an archetype of an older, wiser feminine intellect. She could be thought of as the most masculine of the all the queens, and may come off as quite stern and emotionless. The Queen of Swords combines the mental clarity and intellectual power of the suit of Swords with the maturity and receptiveness of the Queen. She has the gift of being able to use her intellect and unbiased judgement while also remaining flexible and open to receive input from other sources. As she leads from the head and not the heart, she is better able to discern situations without the influence of emotion or sentimentality. The Queen of Swords notes that Fenris is a truth-seeker. She is open to hearing the thoughts and opinions of others, but ultimately, filters that information to decipher what is true and what is not. The Queen of Swords suggests that Fenris has an innate ability to tell it like it is. She is a quick thinker and highly perceptive, piercing through the noise and confusion to get straight to the point. For this reason, many people respect her opinion and come to her for advice when they need clarity. As a determined, independent and resilient person, Fenris has established clear boundaries, and is quick to call out someone who crosses the Inquisition. People do not mess with her, not because she threatens them or inflicts violence outright, but because she sets expectations up front about how she wants to be treated. Some people might be intimidated by her, but once they get past her tough exterior and develop a sense of trust and respect, they see her softer side. Underneath the shell, she is loving, kind, and above all -- loyal.
This card perfectly encapsulated my lady Inquisitor Fenris, and the journey she takes. Fenris can be described as on the cusp of being a martyr, for better or for worse. For the sake of the fate of the world, and wanting to give her friends a chance to live peacefully within it, she is willing to sacrafice herself no matter the cost. Regardless of if everyone is against the Inquisition or not, she'll make the bigger decisions at higher costs and see them through herself if she has to. Even at the cost of her own happiness, she chooses to always take the higher road to fulfill her duties against the rest of the world with nothing more than her intellect, being a political powerhouse, and being a fierce warrior in the field. Despite that, she is always kind, and a compassionate friend to those within the Inquisiton, and to those outside it in need of help. All of her friends seek out her companionship for how compassionate she is and she will always sit and just listen to them. Their worries or their happiness. And while many see her as a martyr or a threat, or both. She always kicks ass in the field and always makes decisions to help the less fortunate -- even if it’s out of the way of a mission. She’s logical and intellectual in her political moves. But she never forgets to be herself, and will always choose to do simplest of tasks for those who ask as long as they need the Inquisition's help. But everyone knows her name. Political allies, political enemies, and her friends alike.
With the biggest thank you to @mafumafuriah / @dyalavellan for this absolutely gorgeous piece of my girl. It is beyond perfect of anything I could have dreamed of, and I am absolutely in love. I plan on getting it printed and hang it near my computer desk! If you haven't stumbled across her page already, please go check out her artwork! And once again, thank you so much Mafu for letting me commission from you! You're amazing, and have been such a pleasure to work with! ♥ ♥ ♥

A commission for @dauntless-necromancer
He asked me to draw his OC, Celia as the Seven of Wands. I had to look up the meaning of the cards again to make sure I’ll be able to get the effect of it right. With that in mind, the Seven of Wands is a card that when upright would mean protectiveness, standing up for yourself, defending yourself, protecting territory. Cue me drawing Celia going up against a bear. But at the same time, both of them have something to protect, whether it’s Celia’s own self or the baby bears, they have something they’re trying to fight for. He also asked me to put in the Cousland and Mac Tir crests cause Celia is the daughter of Anora and his Warden. I decided to draw the Cousland crest dirtied to make a reference to Highever’s massacre while the Mac Tir crest is practically untarnished. He also asked for midnight blue and cyan to be used, I used midnight blue for the background/overlay while the cyan became Celia’s spear to stand out in the scene. The seven wands are the spears and banners in the scene. Celia has heart shaped freckles and I did my best to draw them though the card texture blended them in a little too well dugidxudfbgdx
Needless to say, working on this piece was a challenge from the mama bear to the chainmail - even losing huge chunks of progress during the sketching phase - but the struggle was so worth it when I finished it and saw the final result!
Thank you so much for commissioning me! Drawing Celia was such a delight!!

My attempt at a Dragon Age Inquisition tarot card for my Inquisitor Sahren Lavellan. It was my second completed work after I began learning digital art as a medium. I wish the textures were better, but both my drawing pad and my computer died. I want to revisit it someday, maybe tweak a few things now that I know Trespasser, or at least find someone willing to recolor and shade it. ;w; (This is a repost of the work, but I have posted this on other blogs of mine that I have lost to the Tumblr void)
It represents the Three of Swords, Judgement, and the Tower all in one, as I felt like a single card didn't represent him well enough. The ravens are Fear and Deceit, the ravens of Dirthamen.
The Three of Swords represents Sahren's three greatest regrets/burdens. The one in his back on the side of the Anchor that is only half-in represents his hatred for the role of Inquisitor, and how it feels very much like a burden he didn't ask for from a religion that he never believed in and feels rejected by, even as they revere him as the Herald of Andraste.
The second one in his back has Deceit sitting upon it. It represents his close friendship with and subsequent betrayal from Solas. It also represents the burden of understanding the truth of the history of the elves, and as he grew up expecting to be a Keeper someday, the lie of their spoken history is deeply embedded.
The third is self-inflicted and it represents his deep-seated guilt for the deaths of his mother and lover, before Inquisition. He couldn't save them despite being present. So fe feels helpless and responsible.. It also represents his regret at not being a mage like his mother had wanted, or a true hunter as his father expected.
Judgement represents multiple things, in this particular case.
The fact he must reevaluate his beliefs.
He must reevaluate his understanding of himself as Inquisition unfolds.
The fact that he still has more potential than a bitter and unknown man with no one to remember him, nor is his heart as sour as he seems to tell himself.
He must reevaluate what he learned as a child about Elvhenan, and the Dalish Pantheon. Overall, he is forced to make choices for the safety of the world, and for his people.
There's a lot of other symbolism thrown in there too, but I don't want to keep rambling.
