#random personal stuff #pointless personal story ahead #when I was sixteen we had an ancient computer known derogatorily as Myrtle the Turtle #it was a PAIN doing anything on it #everything took forever #and when you've got a parentally-mandated mere forty-five minutes of internet time a day this is frustrating #I was very annoyed about this one evening #pacing in and out of the computer room ranting to my siblings while waiting for something to load #finally I had had it and sat down hard on the wooden arm of the futon in the main basement room #except I misjudged the location of the arm #and landed on the pointed corner #it hurt. a lot. #stupidity hurt too #we never had it looked at because I guess it was concluded that nothing much could be done about it? #but it hurt for a long time #that was nearly half my life ago #and it STILL comes back periodically to be annoying - namely this week #it's not horrible but it would be nice if the Follies of My Youth could finally determine that I have Learned My Lesson and leave me alone #(I have in fact learned nothing about not getting carried away with angry rants but the pain doesn't need to know that)

I have to go to school/work just as much as anyone else does, the difference is that I physically can't. Not having the same choice as abled people does not make me lucky. Staying at home because I can't go to school or work does not mean I get to do whatever I want. Staying at home every day without being able to do anything is not fun. Not being able to do anything but lay down in bed or on the couch gets boring really fast. That's not even taking the chronic pain I endure into account.

Being chronically ill is not being lazy. It's not a choice, or something anyone would choose. It's a disability.

The biggest misconception in the bsd fandom ever to me is people constantly portraying Atsushi as someone who trauma dumps excessively when he canonically barely talks about it at all.

The entire point is that Atsushi does not talk about his trauma he’s just constantly thinking about/reliving it. He can’t escape the memories of his past so he tries not to acknowledge them.

He only mentions it when asked, either directly or when someone asks him to explain himself.

Atsushi doesn’t even give a cohesive explanation for what he saw while under Dogra Magra, he just apologizes to Haruno and Naomi.

If Lucy hadn’t had her whole “you’ve never suffered the way I have” spiel then I doubt even the audience would’ve gotten to find out about his scars

If Akutagawa never asked him how it felt for the orphanage headmaster to die Atsushi would have never told him that he’s been hallucinating.

In the omake where Kyoka asks him why his hair is like that it’s clear he wouldn’t have told her that unless she had asked.

In 55 minutes Atsushi very briefly mentions sleeping on a dirty floor somewhere to Kunikida because he was trying to explain and justify his behavior.

And the thing is that there are scenes that implies that the other characters see Atsushi behaving strangely and are visibly confused because they do not understand what’s wrong with him.

Remember, we as an audience get to see things about characters that the main cast doesn’t. Just because we see into Atsushi’s mind doesn’t mean the other characters know what’s going on in there.

Also little footnote here that I think this is a reference to the moon over the mountain but I digress

just kinda a thing i wanted to say since ik i have younger artists following me (its applicable to everyone really, but very important to form care habits as early as possible) i read about others artists experiencing pain from overworking and i always thought to myself, i wouldnt let that happen to me, im real young, i still have time before i have to worry about really damaging my body

but your body really doesnt care, if you push yourself, if you ignore the pain, its going to fuck you up. maybe for the rest of your life please god take care of yourself when you draw, write, game, literally anything. stretch your wrists, fingers, dont keep your elbow in a locked a position for too long, especially dont lean on your elbows. get up around every 45 minutes, drink water, eat food, use the bathroom, stretch your whole body and your hands again. walk outside and let your eyes readjust your body is trying to communicate with you for a reason when you start hurting, please listen to it, be kind to yourself, you deserve it
