“hannie?”
“hi, my love,” jeonghan greets you sweetly, leaning back in his seat and cradling the phone to his ear. “everything okay?”
“mm. yeah.” your voice is soft, tentative — bordering on shy. you haven’t been shy with him in a while; it’s been ages since you started dating, but you always revert to your shyer nature when you’re asking jeonghan for something.
“okay,” he replies softly. “are you sure?”
a fond smile tugs at the corner of his lips when you stay silent. that definitely means you’re going to ask him for something. “what is it, gorgeous? need anything?”
you let out a small sigh of defeat, admitting. “i just wanted to know what time you’re coming home.” he doesn’t even have time to reply before you’re adding defensively — “it’s getting late, you know!”
jeonghan lets out a small, amused chuckle. “i know. you can go ahead and sleep, baby, don’t wait up. i’ve eaten too.” he adds the last sentence before you can ask, as you always do.
there’s another short pause as you dither over your words, instead turning beneath the duvet with a small pout.
“i can’t sleep,” you confess finally. “the bed’s too big without you.”
it’s jeonghan’s turn to stay quiet, feeling warmth blooming in his chest. you’re just so fucking — “cute,” he murmurs softly. “but we can’t have that, can we? i’ll be home soon, baby. i’m just about to leave, okay?”
there’s something relieved in your voice when you breathe out an “okay” and “see you soon” but jeonghan could never tease you for that. not when the same feeling is echoed by himself, at the thought of coming home to you.

a fruit made for two
⚝ jeonghan x reader
⚝ comfort, romance, established couple
⚝ notes: you might think "how lame" when you will be done with it, or "can she write about anything else other than tangerines" and yes, while i acknowledge my problem with tangerines, i can tell you that i'm done writing about them. but enough of my rambles, just wanted to post this little (maybe a bit sad) scenario that i have come up with during these days.
wishing you a good start of the year and a not so rough january (i personally dread this month) :)
enjoy and thank you for taking time to read this short fic x
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you have always liked to peel tangerines neatly. jeonghan was focusing his attention on your fingers work. the sections coming apart cleanly in your hands.
he’s trying to cut out the noise, the laughters of the other guests at the table, the cracking open of the nuts, the clinking of the glasses and the cutlery, your aunt bragging about your cousins to your mom and your nan nearly tripping into the dog.
“that’s the limit, from then on her eyesight will worsen to blindness and there’s nothing they can do,” that’s what your father had told jeonghan before christmas lunch.
he reasoned you didn’t have the courage to confront jeonghan with the matter. so, he took it in his hands.
your thick eye-glasses nearly falling off your nose while you’re peeling away neatly the white parts.
“hannie,” you said, “i don’t know how you do it. always tearing holes when you peel tangerines and oranges, juice going in every direction,”
you’re jeonghan’s love of his life.
“i hope you never learn how to peel them, hannie. i want to do it for you for a lifetime.”
x
“where’d you get these?” you nearly shouted in the college backyard, while jeonghan handed you an orange.
“just took them out of a plastic bag someone left behind in class,” he said.
you laughed. you started to peel the orange, separating it in two perfect halves to give one of them to him. “you know, when i won’t be able to see no more i will miss terribly peeling citrus..”
if he could have wore his half like a friendship bracelet, he would have. “i mean, i still will be able to do it but man how it satisfies me to see the colour of the fruit changing: different shades of orange, white and then orange again,”
instead, jeonghan just swallowed each segment one by one and told himself that this, this exact moment, would have always meant so much more.
“... and your face, to see your face so focused on how i peel citrus fruits! i have to start giving you lesson,”
to share it with you. to chew and to swallow with you the sections that you so dutifully and accurately peeled, listening to all the possible rambles you might have had to tell him. to just taste the same thing in the same moment.
“here you go hannie,” you handed to jeonghan his perfectly peeled half.
the air around you filled up with the smell of peeled orange.
x
it was christmas’ eve. no festivities at home this year. closing the front door, jeonghan longed to hear your hasty steps down the corridor.
longing to slip an orange or a tangerine into the pocket of your wool coat before heading to town.
instead, he ignited the engine of his car and drove to the hospital where you had been staying. your eyesight barely spots of colour and light by now.
you were looking out the window into the wintery morning haze with a smile on your lips, when jeonghan entered the room. “hannie you’re here,” you recognized his footsteps and his scent. the sweetest kind.
he brought tangerines with him, peeled three of them in his car. he peeled them perfectly, peeled away every little part of the white stuff until they were all orange like you did. so you wouldn’t have to worry about not enjoy one of his favourite things.
it took him some time, but love always does.

Tumblr media
Jeonghan has always felt lucky to be an idol. Of course, as any job does, it has its downsides – and this one has a lot, despite what he can say. He never once complained about his job, no matter what can happen. Being able to share his love for music to his fans, his brothers by his side is the biggest blessing of his life. That is well known to his family, his fans but mostly you, his partner, who hears him pours his heart out about his job until dawn.
However, there are days when it is harder than usual; days where practice or filming is so hard, he wishes to go home and sleep the worries away; days where he questions if he actually was made for that job. Today, that came in the form of a hard practice. What maybe Jeonghan hasn’t realized yet is how lucky he is to have you, especially at the end of a tough day.
You haven’t seen your boyfriend a lot lately as he was busier than usual; preparing for his new comeback as well as going overseas to film content. However, as he has been back from Hungary a few days ago, you knew you’d be able to see him again today. You spent hours cleaning your apartment, cooking his favorite meals and stocking up on his favorite drinks, picking shows and music to listen to so you could spend the night talking, catching up together and laughing at the new memories he made. You were looking forward to it, but most importantly, you were looking forward to seeing him again. To feel his presence, to hear his voice and laugh and to be able to touch him. Oh, how much you missed him.
As you finished preparing everything for him, you were lounging on your couch, the TV playing quietly in the background. Looking at the hour on your phone, you realized it was almost 11pm – which meant you were only minutes away from seeing your boyfriend. Getting up from the couch, you went to the kitchen to warm up his meal. You started pulling out different plates – jajagmyeon, tangsuyuk, kimchi pancakes and tteokbokki. "Okay, maybe I made too much this time, but I just want him to eat well," you think out loud. While you were filling smaller plates with side dishes, you heard the door opening, signaling that your boyfriend was finally home. Leaving the food behind, you left the kitchen to find your boyfriend – disheveled, hair picking out in all ways and tiredness showing on his face, struggling to get his shoes off.
“Jeonghan,” you call out to him softly, his head lifting up to find your eyes. And that’s when you realize how tired he really is. His smile is meekly showing up, his hair looks like he ran his hand through it multiple times – which is something he does when he is frustrated, dark circles are showing under his eyes but mostly, his eyes look sad, the usual playful lightness in them gone. “Are you okay?” you ask, your hand reaching out to him to let him know he is not alone.
“I-” he starts, his voice breaking a little bit, before clearing his throat, “I’m okay, I just can’t seem to get my shoes off.” he says, bending once again to work on the shoelaces.
You watch him for only a few seconds before sitting on the little step in your entryway, “Here, let me help you,” you say, gently tapping the floor in front of you, silently telling him to put his feet forward as you chase his fingers away.
“Babe, no-” he starts protesting, his fingers brushing with yours, trying to untie the knot faster.
“Shh,” you say calmly, getting a hold of his fingers, squeezing and letting go to work on the knots again, his feet slightly moving towards you, “You really tightened those well. That’s good, don’t want you falling down on your shoelaces during practice.” You say lightly, trying to make your boyfriend lighten up. You get his first shoe off, placing it gently next to yours, before working on the second one. As you were almost done with the second knot, you feel something wet falling on your hand, and you look up to see Jeonghan looking down at you, eyes filled with tears.
“Hey, hey, hey,” you say, getting a hold of his hand, “You’re okay, it’s fine,” you reassure him, squeezing his fingers tighter as he looks away from you, ears slightly red from the embarrassment of crying in front of you, his girlfriend. That’s such a Jeonghan thing, you tell yourself, “Let me get this one off and then we’ll get you to the couch, okay?” you tell him, earning a little nod as an answer. You get his second shoe off in record time and gently get up from the ground as you reach out for his hand, pulling him behind you as you lead him to the living room.
Reaching the couch, you make him sit down first before sitting down next to him, pulling your linked hands on your lap, your thumb slightly caressing his hand, “Are you okay?” you ask gently, trying to find his eyes but all he does is look down at his lap.
“I’m okay- Sorry about all this, practice was hard and I know you were excited about having a good time but stuffs happened and yeah-” he starts ranting as you listen intently to whatever he has to say, “Ah, sorry again. I’m rambling. I’m okay,” he says again, almost as he tries to convince himself, too, “Really.” He confirms as he meets your eyes, his smile not even reaching his cheeks.
“Love, you may be able to lie to your members but this doesn’t work with me,” you chuckle slightly, “What can I do?”
“I-” he starts, blush creeping on his neck again, his eyes looking around the room, “Will you hold me?” he whispers, hoping you heard him right as he finds your eyes again.
“Of course, angel,” you say as you lean back on the couch, opening your arms for him, his head finding a place to rest on your chest, “Let’s just stay like that for a little while, hm?” you whisper as you start running your fingers through his hair, “You can tell me anything, in case you need to pour it out.”
A few minutes passes by where you can only hear his soft breath – and little sniffles, his body slightly relaxing into yours as if it realizes it’s now finally home. “Practice was so hard today,” he says softly, his arm squeezing your waist a little more, your shirt getting wet with more tears, “That new choreography requires so much attention to details and we need to keep our energy up throughout all of it. I guess I wasn’t prepared to put that much work in it today.” He sighs as you let him know you’re still listening through little hums, “And we’ve just been back from Hungary, my body is still used to that time zone so I have a hard time sleeping. Also, I’ve missed you so I haven’t been able to recharge my batteries at all.” He admits, knowing he would have felt better if he saw you more in the past month.
“I’ve missed you too,” you tell him, leaving a little kiss on the top of his head.
“I’m sorry,” he apologizes again, “For my mood and for ruining tonight.” He says softly, as more tears fall down.
“Baby, angel,” you say, your voice almost breaking to seeing your boyfriend like this, “Please don’t ever be sorry. Your job is not easy, you’re doing so much at all times and you do it well. It’s only normal for you to break down from time to time,” you whisper, running your fingers down his back, “I am so glad you decided to still come to me. It means the world. Please always come to me,” you tell him as he looks up at you, “Anytime you break down, I’ll help you build yourself up stronger, okay? You didn’t ruin anything, you’ll never do so. Your presence is always welcomed, no matter your mood. I love you so much.”
“I love you too, precious.” He says, as he gets up a little to meet your lips. You can taste the sadness – and the saltiness of his tears – on his lips as you take it away from him, take everything bad away from him, lodging it deep in your own body. So it can never hurt him again. You kiss once, you kiss twice, you kiss thrice; you kiss until there is no more sadness within him. You kiss until he can feel how you will always be here for him.
“Feeling better?” you question as you pull away from his lips, brushing hair out of his face and meeting his now shining eyes.
“Very much so,” he chuckles lightly, his forehead resting on yours, “Thank you,” he says, leaving a kiss on your forehead before finding rest on your shoulder.
“Wanna eat now?” you ask, still running your fingers along his back.
“Yes actually,” he says, looking up at you, “I’m so hungry,” he says in a whisper, still making no attempt to move away from you.
“I made so much, I hope you’ll love it,” you answer him, still not getting up either.
“Let’s just- Let’s just stay like this for a little longer, hm?” he tells you, wrapping his arms around your middle, cuddling even closer – if that’s even possible, “Food can wait.”
Jeonghan truly feels lucky to be an idol – on most days, at least. But if he had to mention one thing, he feels the luckiest about – it’s to be your boyfriend.

Love Songs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: fluff Pairing: Jeonghan X Reader “He thought about your mind, how crazy it must be, how tiring it must be. Who’s on your mind right now? Who has your time? Who have you been seeing? Why couldn’t you just be his?” w/c: 1926 a/n: Hello~~ new story hehe!! Also it’s fluff this time wooohooo. Also idk if you’ve noticed but every svt story so far has been based off a song…hmmm i wonder why that is?? (also I didn't proofread this so I'm sorry for any inconsistencies) ps: pics are from pintrest ctto :) MASTERLIST; OTHER WORKS Jeonghan was never a person that falls in love easily.
It’s not that he’s anti-romantic, or that he hates the concept of giving love or receiving love. In fact, on some days when the rain gets too loud, the room gets too cold and the sky gets too grey, he longs for a nice warm hug from a person that he loves.
He’s had girlfriends before, but they always end in the same way. The same, ‘it’s not you, it’s me” argument. And it is true, he can never find himself infatuated with a person for more than a month. He still finds them attractive of course but he’s never been interested in them, their goals, their big dreams or even their small ones.
That was until he met you.
Meeting you was like an angel appeared at his door; like a gift from cupid to cure his lonely heart. A gift in the form of a new roommate.
Seungkwan was staying in the flat with him before he moved out to his hometown, leaving behind his room and another part of the rent he had to pay. In his absence though, Seungkwan–ever the social butterfly– recommended the place to you, and although Jeonhan was wary at first, he definitely had to thank Seungkwan now.
When he first met you he felt as though his house was graced by a higher being. The sun flooded into the room in golden rays, shining around you, creating a halo above your head. And though he was the known heartbreaker around town, he felt his palms go sweaty and his ears turn hot. And when you spoke, he felt he got worse. Your voice sounded just like it was dipped in honey; smooth and sweet. He could listen to it forever. Your expressions were kind and gentle, you were the type of person that could lure anyone into your charm like a siren in the sea.
He was attracted to you, so so attracted to you, but he brushed it off. It was probably just that, Attraction, nothing more.
As the days went by you two grew closer. First it was catching each other in the kitchen at 3am for a midnight snack. From then on you started talking to each other more. You find out that he’s been living in the flat for five years, he finds out that you just moved to the city. He’s taken you around the area to get you familiar with your surroundings, you’ve cooked him dinner in exchange (and because he only eats ramen in the house). He’s introduced you to his friends, you’ve introduced him to your family.
You even go to him when you need to rant. School’s being annoying? Go to Jeonghan, Your parents are being annoying? Go to Jeonghan, the neighbour that for some reason finds the need to be up at 4am every single morning watching their soap opera at full volume with their door open is being annoying? Go to Jeonghan. Just like the new flat’s been your physical home, Jeonghan has been your emotional home.
You tell him everything, and even though he loves it, he loves that he could be a person you can come to–can talk to and rant to about your hardships, feelings, accomplishments, he somehow hates it when you come to him for advice on love.
“How do I get a boyfriend, Han?”, “Why don’t guys like me?” to “Han, I’ve been talking to this guy”, “what do you think of him?” to the dreaded, “He asked me out on a date!”, “How do I look?” he’s been there through it all. And he won't admit it–he can’t admit that he likes you, he can’t admit that he hates when you tell him not to wait up for you because you’ll be at Woozi’s for the night. He can’t admit that it bothers him that you come home, greet him and go to your room. He can’t admit that he’s lonely again, and that he misses when you would talk to him late at night about your dreams, inspirations, aspirations, goals or even just your shopping list.
And most of all, he hates that you have him listening to love songs. He never used to listen to love songs on purpose, let alone with someone in mind. Love songs have plagued his playlists, and he dreads the day that spotify wraps up his year into one big lovefest. You were sea, sunshine, star and moon; you were his cocoa butter kisses; you were what comes up in his mind when he listens to Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean and even Drake. You were his in his mind, his playlist, his heart but not his in real life.
He started doing his work in the living room just to see your face, to see you in the kitchen, on the couch or even leaving for school or work or to your boyfriend’s house, because the longer you were with Woozi, the shorter you were in the house.
That was until one day when he came home from work. The world seemed to mirror the same sad mood he’s been in for the past month; heavy rain, grey skies, cold air. It was the kind of weather that made him feel even more lonelier than he already was. He was just about to pass the living room to go to his room when he noticed you asleep on the sofa.
You looked so peaceful that he didn’t want to move, afraid that even the smallest step could wake you up from your slumber. He stood there for what felt like hours but were only a couple of seconds when he was suddenly snapped back to reality with a cold rush of air down his spine. The room was getting colder, he noticed, and he saw you rustling around the couch–no doubt affected by the coolness too.
He saw that your shoulder was exposed to the cool air and quickly but quietly rushed to get a blanket. He placed the blanket over your body, gently tucking the ends to your sides, effectively blocking any coldness from reaching your skin. He froze as you moved, thinking you had woken up, but sighed as he saw you snuggling into the warm comfort of the blanket, continuing your peaceful nap.
He cleaned the area around you, the tissues, empty soda cans, empty chips. You must’ve eaten yourself into a food coma, he thought, smiling at the thought of your well fed self falling into a deep sleep. However his smile dropped as your phone lights up. Rows and rows of notifications piled up on your lockscreen, all from your boyfriend begging you to ‘take him back’, ‘forgive him’, ‘trust him to do better’.  And then it made sense to him. The food, the tissues, your exhaustion.
Once he finished cleaning up, he just couldn’t find himself to leave you in the living room all alone. You must have been sad, angry, upset, tired and vulnerable right now, and he would hate himself if he knew he was leaving you in such a state.
He also couldn’t get over the last notification he saw from your phone–he knows that it wasn’t the best thing to go scroll your notifications, but it was there and he couldn’t help it (pls forgive him)-- ‘I can be better than him’.
Him?
Is there someone new?
He sat on the ottoman, beside where your head was laying on the pillow and watched as you breathed. Your chest would rise and fall in steady patterns, showing that you’ve fallen into a deep sleep. Your eyelashes were feathered along your eye, and he couldn’t help but be charmed by it. Him, charmed by the simple sight of eyelashes? He couldn’t believe how much he changed, how much you changed him. Your lips were slightly parted, a pale pink and full. He wondered how it would feel against his own, would they be soft? By the looks of it, he thinks it would.
You looked so peaceful and angelic and he couldn’t help but think about how much you’re going through right now. He thought about your mind, how crazy it must be, how tiring it must be. Who’s on your mind right now? Who has your time? Who have you been seeing? Why couldn’t you just be his?
He knows that you had a boyfriend but still, despite that, why did you stop talking to him as much? You used to be texting him all the time, checking on him all the time, staying up with him all the time. But recently, your interactions were shorter than two sentences. Was it your boyfriend? Was it you? Was it him?
“If you let me,” he whispered, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear gently, “we could paint a perfect picture, we could even last forever.” he sighed as he feels how strong he loves you–it scares him, he’s never felt this way with anyone before. “I’ll even let you wear my sweaters, I know how you get cold so easily,” he said as his eyes traced your face, from your hairline down to your eyebrows to your eyes, to your nose to your lips. He smiled at how perfect you were. “I’m so horribly down for you, Y/N,” he said, “for the worse or the better,” he added.
“To be honest, I hate it,” he said, surprising himself with the sudden confession, “I hate how much I feel for you because It’s so strong that it’s hurting me. But I don’t care, I will keep sticking to you, Y/n,” he breathed in, “Because I love you.”
And although you were sound asleep, he still felt as if the weight of the world has left his shoulders. The burden of keeping it trapped within his heart has finally disappeared, and even though he knew that this confession was done in vain as he knew that pouring his heart out doesn’t mean you have to reciprocate it, he still felt happy that it’s out there.
Maybe you were asleep, but your heart was listening.
He noticed how the sun had disappeared and the clock was moving into the double digits. He knew that your back was going to be painful if you slept there overnight, so he took you in his arms, the blanket wrapped tightly around you still; like a burrito, and carried you over to your room. There he tucked you in properly, propping your head gently a top your soft pillows, laying the comforter over your, keeping the sides snug. Before he turned off the side lamp, his self control had left his body with his confession as he bent down placing a gentle peck on your forehead. When he felt that everything was done, windows checked, you tucked in, lamp turned off, he headed out the door.
“Jeonghan,” you called softly, your voice still groggy from your nap. He froze by the doorframe, turning to you.
“Yeah?”
“I love you too,” you told him, a soft smile growing on your face before you turned over and fell back to sleep.
No amount of self control could stop the smile that was blooming on his face, his mind was fuzzy, his heart was racing. He watched you for a little bit more, the same love-struck smile on his face to see if you were still sleeping.
“Sweet dreams, love,” he whispered before leaving.
He needs to give Seungkwan a gift basket.

A SANCTUARY IN YOU  .  Y. JEONGHAN
Tumblr media
because when jeonghan’s worn out and in need of comfort, you’re the home he’ll always run to
pairing: jeonghan x gn!reader  /  genre: fluff/reverse comfort  / wc: 0.8k
warnings: mentions and descriptions of food, exhaustion, fatigue
playlist: to you - svt // home - svt // express moon - jo yuri // hug me tight - heo hoy kyung // blossoming - none the younger
note: hey lol sorry for ghosting u all for like 2 months but here’s a jeonghan fic and a fic playlist as a peace offering :D also hey hi thank u to @yeongwonie loml for beta reading mwah <3
Tumblr media
jeonghan steps into your apartment, lazily shutting the door with his hand stretched behind his back, not even having the energy to turn his head to check if he had properly locked the door and instead chose to trust his hand’s dexterity.
“jeonghan? is that you?” your voice rings, and jeonghan swears that he feels every muscle and ache in his body soften and relax just from hearing you.
“yeah, sorry for barging in so suddenly” he musters, forcing out a weak smile when your head pops out from the kitchen, “i just- i wanted to see you,”
you pause after getting a more clear view of your boyfriend, eye-bags sunken and skin practically translucent, completely devoid of vitality. it’s a distinctively unfamiliar look on jeonghan, who is normally so angelic with a presence akin to a breath of fresh air.
“oh my gosh, han don’t strain yourself,” you rush by his side, carefully cupping a hand around his delicate jaw, “don’t apologize, you’re always welcome here,”
you feel jeonghan straining his neck in an attempt to nod as you continue, “let’s get you something to eat, yeah?”
“it’s fine, don’t want to trouble you,” he whispers, sinking into your hold as he eventually rests his head on your shoulders. your arm maneuvers around his back, gently smoothing circles along the fabric of his shirt as he hums quietly with contentment, “i can just pick up something from the convenient store later,”
“taking care of you will never trouble me,” you sigh, “and besides, i was already cooking dinner,”
“you’re too good to me,” he mumbles, lifting his head from your shoulders. he easily obliges when you guide him over to the sofa, collapsing into the array of soft woolen throw pillows and velvety couch cushions like a limp rag doll. you drape a plush fleece blanket over jeonghan as he shuffles around to find a comfortable position, smiling when he pulls the covers up to his chin as his eyes shut gently.
you return to the kitchen, where you find a steaming pot of aromatic soup full of hearty ingredients you had cooked for yourself primarily because like jeonghan, you have also been feeling a bit more under the weather. after conjuring up a bit of strength, you heave the vast pot over to the coffee table and as you do so, jeonghan perks up, his head peeking from above the blanket he had stretched over his head.
instinctively, jeonghan lifts the comforters as he feels the sofa dip under your weight. from your view, he vaguely resembles an otter, a warm and inviting one at that as he waits for you to climb into his little makeshift burrow. instead, you smile and comb your fingers through jeonghan’s hair as you sit by the perimeter of the sofa, resisting the urge to teasingly comment on how otter adjacent he appears for the sake of his depleted state.
“want to rest a bit for now? you seem tired and i can just heat the soup when you wake up later,” you say, fingers still tangled in his hair as you practically feel him hum in contentment.
“not sure, the soup smells great though,” jeonghan remarks, hoisting himself up as the blankets cascades down to his waist. he sits there for a brief moment, a puffed half-pout, half-smile resting on his face as he gazes at you.
instead of rising up, jeonghan flops back down, though this time he very clearly bypasses the pillow and lands on your lap with a shameless “oops!”
“oh no, it’s like i’ve fallen back down and i can’t get up! isn’t that crazy, y/n?” jeonghan muses, his eyes fluttering shut in downturned narrow crescents, “it’s like my body is telling me to stay on this comfortable couch and that it needs something, or maybe someone, to hold so that my exhaustion can be remedied,”
“who gave you such awful medical advice?” you sigh, slipping your hand beneath jeonghan’s head and carefully hauling it back onto the pillow as he pouts dramatically, “i’m pretty sure you need rest instead of becoming a koala and attaching yourself to a human tree branch,”
“i guarantee you this cure was from a very reputable doctor,” jeonghan grins, eyes still shut as he wriggles his eyebrows. you smile and card your fingers through his hair for a final time before giving in to his proposal. he’s still exhausted, despite the little teasing comments he’s straining to make to lessen your worries. it’s virtually transparent to you by how jeonghan’s eyes remain closed, a testament to the aching pain that likely punctures somewhere behind his eyes.
“fine, i’ll trust your very reputable doctor,” you smile, allowing jeonghan to happily envelop his arms around you and rest his head against yours as he quietly murmurs a contrastingly sincere “thank you”
“of course,” you respond, placing a fluttering kiss on whatever part of jeonghan is nearest to your lips as you too permit yourself to enjoy being held by your lover, leaving the soup long forgotten as the two of you descend into a much-needed nap.

hi my love :o) i’m so sorry things have been so loud and difficult lately (for you, for me, and for all the anons too), but i hope you’ve found the time to allow yourself to feel some peace lately. anyway, todays my birthday (and also cheol’s of course), and i was wondering if i could request a small comfort piece (svt)? it can be one member (if you do decide to do a member i ult jeonghan and wonwoo if that’s any guidance haha), or snippets of all of them; it’s your choice. i just often spend today alone and thought it would be worth asking :o) prompt is also up to you! thank you either way <3 and don’t feel pressured to if you have too too much on your plate
- v
thank you, v 🥺 i'm sending love your way, and happy belated birthday! i hope you treated yourself and did something fun, comforting, and/or special.
a slice of comfort with yoon jeonghan
“can you come over later?”
“on a school night?” he jokes through the line, and it’s easy to smile. “are you ok?”
“i miss you, and i have a painting i need help hanging.”
“it’s ok to leave it at you miss me.” his voice is so soft your eyelids flutter at the sound. how did you get by before? before his number was memorized and his clothes held you through times of distance.
“my apartment feels too quiet today. nothing is filling it up. does that make sense?”
he hums, and you prop up a pillow behind your head. “i’m having dinner with seungcheol. is after ok?”
“yes, of course. say hi to cheol for me?”
“will do. i’m sure he’ll beam at the sound of your name. i can’t let myself think about that for too long.”
his words are purposeful: he’s filling you up. it’s still quiet, but the warmth is becoming obvious. it’s in your chest. it’s wiggling your toes. “no, darling. there’s no reason to worry. i think he’s just happy to know you’re happy and in love.”
“ahh, is that so? i didn’t know we were telling people.”
“i’m rolling my eyes.“
“through a smile, right?”
“always. i smile the most because of you.”
he stays quiet for a moment, and you close your eyes before he says your name. it’s so intentional. the sound lifts your lids. “should i come now instead? i can do that, and you can be honest.”
“no, go to dinner. i want you to enjoy dinner, even if i’ve fallen asleep by the time you get here. the serenity became too quiet for a while, but it’s louder now, so eat. i’ll be here. i’ll… watch you on youtube and reconsider a pet rock of my own.”
his chuckle is breathy and barely there, shared through a relieved exhale. sometimes, he can’t quite tell without your eyes or the feeling of your fingertip tracing his palm. he knows in those moments: your needs are so clear. “i’ll expect a full report once i get there, hmm?”
“i’ll recreate it in the living room. i’ll put your gose acting to shame.”
“you will, baby. i don’t doubt it, my little superstar.”
“only yours.”
“mmm, i have you… feel it?”
“of course. feels like home.”

Seungcheol
After you climb into Seungcheol’s car after one of your many social events this week, you fail to control your overwhelming emotions.
Seungcheol instantly panics at your sudden crying. It started with quiet sniffles, but now you’re borderline sobbing in your hands.
He wants to pull you into his arms, but it’s not as easy to do so since you’re in his car. Instead, he rubs your thigh with one hand and your back with the other.
“Did something happen tonight?” he asks. There’s a mix of worry and anger laced in his tone. He can’t help but picture someone doing something to upset you.
You shake your head and try to calm your cries.
Truthfully, you’re just overwhelmed with responsibility. You’re exhausted with the need to put on a comradely and upstanding appearance. You’re tired of having the same mindless small talks and being over-aware of your surroundings. You just want to stay at home rather than be in public.
Once Seungcheol knows the reason behind your tears, which he had a feeling about these past few days, he drives you both home. He rubs loving circles on your thigh throughout the trip, sending you words of encouragement every now and then. He doesn’t want to attribute to your overbearing emotions, but he wants you to know he’s here for you.
The night is spent cuddling in bed and eating takeout food. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s exactly what you need. He had offered to give you alone time, but you kept him close. You may not want to be around people, but Seungcheol is an exception. He’s your comfort person, someone you don’t have to put on an appearance for. Someone who understands you and knows how to lift your mood.
When you’re on the brink of sleep, you feel Seungcheol’s lips press against the back of your head. He whispers words of encouragement and tells you he’ll always be here for you. You smile, turn in his arms so you’re facing him, and hold him tightly. He chuckles softly at your reaction and holds you as tightly as you’re holding him.
Jeonghan
Jeonghan claims to want to be an island.
He wants to be a place where people can come and go, leaving their worries behind. Except you ended up shipwrecked on the island and made a home.
Jeonghan leans against the headboard of your shared bed. Your back is pressed against his chest, legs tangled under the covers. You want to spill all your troubles to him, but after constant social interactions, you find it difficult to even express your fatigue. Instead, you both cuddle in silence. Heavy rain falls outside; the pit-pat of the droplets luring you into calmness.
Jeonghan knows something’s wrong, but he’s not quite sure what. He whispers that he’s here for you when you’re ready. You nod, pressing yourself against his warm chest more as you peer at him. He grins and captures your lips in his. The kiss is slow, lazy movements that drag for a little too long, but you don’t care. You feel like life’s been too hectic; you need it all to slow down.
Jeonghan gives your body a gentle squeeze as he pulls away. Your gaze stays on his for a few seconds before you pull him down again.
While you adore Jeonghan’s playful attitude, it’s times like these when you feel extra special. You know he’ll always be there when you need him. Whether you need to rant to him for thirty minutes, cry for fifteen, or simply be near him.
Jeonghan’s your constant.
Joshua
“Babe, are you ready to g—”
Joshua stops mid-sentence upon seeing your dejected form on the couch, shoulders slouched, and a guilty look on your face.
Today was your and Joshua’s two-year anniversary, and he had planned a night out. Normally, you would be over the moon. However, with your constant attendance at social events the past week, you’re dreading going out.
This was meant to be a special night, but you feel like you’ve ruined it. You want to power through, but your body has had enough.
When you finally disclose your troubles with Joshua, he instantly sits next to you and gives you comforting back rubs. He tells you that there’s nothing to feel guilty about. That going out isn’t needed to celebrate your anniversary. He only needs to spend time with you; he doesn’t care the how or where.
So, after a few more reassuring words, you find yourself spending the night indoors with your handsome boyfriend doing mundane activities like cooking and watching shows with little talking. However, you and Joshua are past the awkward silences. You’re able to find comfort in the quietness with him.
And when he gives you random kisses and reassuring smiles throughout the night, you know the night wasn’t ruined by staying in. You just needed him.
Jun
Jun has always been attentive to your needs. After knowing you for years, he can tell when you’re feeling off. You’ve been less talkative, less energetic, and less focused. It’s almost like you’re just a shell of yourself—not really living but just going through the motions.
While you’re away at the nth social gathering, he leaves for the grocery store to gather all the ingredients he needs for your favorite dish. It may not be much, but he just wants you to feel better even if it’s for an hour.
Your routine for coming home nowadays includes taking off your shoes, changing into something more comfortable, and then lying in bed for a few hours until you get up for food.
Jun greets you from the kitchen sweetly and you answer as nicely as you can. It’s nothing against him, but you feel too drained to do or say much. You smell something familiar that makes your stomach rumble. Though before you can question it, Jun gently informs you to get dressed and then come to the dining room.
You mumble an “okay,” then do as you’re told.
Jun’s got the table set and a small, beautiful flower arrangement in the center.
“What’s this?” you wonder.
Jun comes carrying food that makes your mouth water. You recognize it instantly.
“Just thought you deserved a nice meal,” he replies and helps you sit down, placing a kiss on your cheek before he leaves again.
You eye him as he brings in more small dishes. Everything looks incredible, and you can’t wait to indulge in his delicious cooking.
Jun gives you a smile as he sits and nods toward the food, inviting you to go first. The first bite gives you a burst of happiness; there’s something about great food that makes you feel good. Once you get some food in your stomach, Jun begins eating as well.
It’s a nice night after a tiring day. Jun talks a little, but it’s mainly filled with comfortable silence that you welcome. It’s actions like these that make you fall for him more.
Soonyoung
When Soonyoung finds out about your social exhaustion, he fears you won’t want to be around him. Is he making you feel worse? Should he give you some space?
You’re quick to deny his worries. You love his presence, but you warn you may not be as talkative as normal. Soonyoung nods in understanding—tells you he’s perfectly fine with that. He just loves being around you. Sure, he loves your voice too, but he understands needing to recharge after back-to-back social events.
When it’s time for dinner, Soonyoung hesitates to ask if you want to help. He’s not sure if that’s asking for too much, but you smile and follow him to the kitchen.
It’s not unusual to cook dinner together but the time is typically filled with chatting and instructions given by you. This time, it’s Soonyoung leading the dinner preparation. Lately, he’s been more into cooking. Granted, not all his dishes turn out that great, but every chef has to start somewhere. It’s rather nice seeing how excited he gets when executing a dish idea.
You follow his instructions well—chopping this, stirring that. Even though you’re not alone and are on your feet, your mind feels at ease. You don’t have to think about what to say next or how to respond to someone’s actions. You just need to let Soonyoung guide you.
He does so with care. Sometimes he’ll crack a few light jokes just to see the faint smile on your face.
When dinner is done and bellies are full, Soonyoung sends you off to rest while he cleans up. You feel guilty he’s done so much work tonight, but you’re grateful he’s putting in so much effort to make you happy. Next time he’s feeling down like you, you’ll make sure you put in the same effort to see him smile.
Wonwoo
Wonwoo knows the need for alone time. While he doesn’t mind being around his friends for hours, attending social events is a different story. Even if he’s with friends, there are still numerous eyes watching him and other worries he has to consider. It’s draining to constantly uphold an image.
So, when you come home from your final event, he takes no offense when you tell him you want to be alone for a while. Although he’s not sure how long “a while” is, he supports your need to recharge. He tells you that he’s here and to not be afraid to ask for anything as he’ll be there in an instant.
After thanking him and giving him a sweet kiss, you retreat to the bedroom.
Wonwoo sits at his gaming desk in the other room. His headset is on, and his fingers tap rapidly on the keyboard. He’s been playing for a little over an hour when you shuffle inside.
He pauses his game and pushes off his headset.
You’re silent as you push his chair back a bit and settle in his lap.
Wonwoo smiles and helps you get comfortable. You lean against his chest, arms wrapped around his neck tightly with your head nestled in his shoulder.
“You can play,” you mumble.
Wonwoo doesn’t reply verbally. He simply kisses the side of your head before he slips on the headset again and rolls his chair as close as he can get without squishing you.
Your eyes are closed as you lax in his arms. The sound of his keys clacking brings an odd sense of comfort to you. Although you still feel socially drained, you want to be around Wonwoo because if anyone can make you feel better, it’s him. You don’t need his words of encouragement, though you know he’d give them. You just need to know he’s here for you.
And he is.
Always.
Jihoon
There’s something so mesmerizing about the way Jihoon works. His eyebrows are slightly furrowed, indicating how much he’s focusing.
“Whatcha’ looking at, babe?” he chuckles when he catches you staring.
You peer at his eyes and smile, shaking your head. “Nothing. I just like watching you work.”
He hums and sets down his phone that he’s writing lyrics on. He pulls you closer, squeezing you and kissing your forehead.
“You doing okay?” he asks.
It’s been a few days since you confided in him about your social exhaustion. One too many social gatherings have left you with low energy. You haven’t felt like doing much, but Jihoon doesn’t seem to mind. He’s content doing different activities while in the same room.
You shrug in response, and Jihoon gives you a sad yet encouraging smile that tells you to keep going and hang in there. He understands having to do things because you have a responsibility. It’s not always easy, but you have to persevere. And some days it’s easier to; some days it’s not. However, with Jihoon, those easier days happen a lot more often.
You rest your head on Jihoon’s chest while he picks up his phone again. It’s silent except for the sounds of him pressing the keyboard. You wonder what he’s writing about, but Jihoon has never been one to lend you a sneak peek. At least, not while he’s in the process. Maybe he’ll let you review a draft, but that’s the earliest stage you get to see. Regardless, you always end up liking his results.
You don’t realize you’ve fallen asleep until Jihoon gently shakes you. He tells you he needs to use the restroom and that he’ll be right back.
Jihoon holds you closely once he gets back. He whispers a goodnight before falling into slumber as well.
Seokmin
After attending more social gatherings than you can count on your fingers, you’ve become drained. You could go without being around a single human being for a good month.
Except for one.
He lays next to you in bed, eyes darting across your features with worry.
When you ponder what’s wrong, he asks if he’s done something to upset you. You’re confused at first, but then it hits you. You’ve always inquired about his days; however, you’ve been lacking in keeping up to date with his life. You find yourself coming home, then eating and sleeping your day away. Even when you’re up, you’ve stayed to yourself.
You finally tell Seokmin that you’re socially exhausted. Just the mere thought of opening your mouth or being engaged in a conversation has you running for the hills.
Seokmin pushes aside his silent worries and tries not to put anything you’ve said to heart. You’re not upset with him—hell, you’re probably not upset with anyone but just need some quiet time. He’s felt this way before, so he understands you.
Seokmin slides off the bed and leaves the room. You watch in confusion, but he just grins and tells you not to worry.
After fifteen minutes, he comes back and leads you to the living room where he’s set up a mini spa. There’s a bubbling foot bath, a back massage cushion, and calming music playing. You can smell lavender and something else that you’re not sure of, but it makes you feel relaxed.
Seokmin spends hours tending to your body. From foot rubs to forearm massages, he takes care of your body in a way that makes you feel worshipped and loved.
You feel guilty that he’s pampering you so much, but he reassures you multiple times that all you need to do is close your eyes and relax. He has no issue doing this if it means you feel better.
Mingyu
You didn’t mean to snap at Mingyu when he asked if you knew where his wallet was. It was a simple question that had a simple answer. Yet, you replied rudely.
Mingyu had stared at you, not overly offended by your outburst since it was out of character. Rather, he grew concerned. Over the past few days, he’s noticed a decline in your attitude. He could almost see your patience decrease with each passing day. He’s aware of the social events you’ve been going to and figures you’re exhausted from those.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t—” you try to apologize a few minutes later. You’ve calmed down and have reflected on your actions.
“I’m not upset with you, but if it makes you feel better, I accept your apology,” he says and pulls you in for a hug. A hug that engulfs you with comfort from his strong and loving embrace.
You end up telling him how you’re feeling, confirming his suspicion behind your outburst.
He gives your head a gentle kiss. You know he’s not mad at you, but you’re still disappointed with yourself for how you treated him.
When it’s time for bed, Mingyu’s by your side. He offers to wash your face for you so all you have to do is relax. With a nod, he washes his hands, then begins your face routine. Although it’s a thoughtful gesture, he tries to help rinse your face as well. However, it just results in wet floors and laughter. He apologizes but you wave a hand as you smile at him. He gives you a sheepish grin as he pats your face dry.
Perhaps that didn’t go as he planned, but at least you brightened up—even if it were just a few minutes.
Minghao
Minghao sits across from you, an encouraging smile on his lips. You follow suit and copy his sitting position.
He nods once you’ve settled and takes your hands.
“Close your eyes and copy my breathing,” he instructs softly.
Your eyes flutter close, zeroing your focus on the man before you. It’s quiet at first, but then Minghao inhales loud enough for you to hear.
You breathe in.
One.
Two.
Three.
Minghao exhales slowly.
You repeat Minghao’s patterns for an unknown amount of time. You simply let him guide you through whatever meditation practices he often does, which he offered once you told him about your social fatigue.
At first, your mind is still crowded with stress and exhaustion. It’s hard to try to relax when you know you still have more events to come. Though you continue for the sake of pleasing Minghao. You appreciate his time, even if it’s not helping as much.
Minutes pass as you still follow Minghao. Gradually your mind becomes empty—only focusing on the man before you, hands still in his. You don’t even realize how light you feel until Minghao starts pulling away.
Your eyes flutter open and see his gentle smile. You don’t even need to tell him it worked since the look on your face explains it all.
Perhaps you’ll be joining in on his meditation every night from now on.
Seungkwan
Seungkwan’s normally okay with touch. He doesn’t mind the lingering hugs or handholding in public. However, you, on the other hand, have never been as open as him. It’s unusual for you to be openly affectionate. Or at least not for a long time.
Though while visiting a farmers’ market, you cling to him more the entire time. When you encounter another person and have to converse, no matter how short the interaction is, you let Seungkwan do all the talking.
Seungkwan is naturally a talker, so he doesn’t mind taking the lead; however, you don’t even make a peep. Often, you’d at least chime in your two cents, but you don’t do that. No, you stay silent by his side and simply listen.
Seungkwan pulls you aside after a while and asks if you’re okay. When you give him a sad smile and explain you’re just socially exhausted from all your events, he instantly becomes serious. He apologizes for taking you out and not catching on sooner, but you’re not offended at all. You give him a reassuring peck on the cheek and tell him you’re fine, just not up for being around crowds too long.
Seungkwan nods in understanding, then starts leading you back to the parking lot. You tell him you can stay longer, but he refuses. He wants you to be comfortable and happy. He’s seen what he wanted and is perfectly fine heading back.
Halfway home, Seungkwan glances at you in the passenger seat.
“You want some ice cream?”
He smiles knowingly. Ice cream has always been your coping food.
You grin and nod, heart warm at his sweet gesture. Ice cream may be your comfort food, but Seungkwan is your comfort person.
Vernon
Vernon loves to watch movies. So much so that he’s dedicated Friday nights to movie nights. Each night you get to experience a new film with him. Sometimes you both love it, other times you both hate it. And of course, there are times when one loves it more than the other.
After the movies, you end up dissecting it. Some people may find that boring, but you and Vernon share similar hobbies—analyzing movies being one of them.
However, with your frequent social events, you find it difficult to be excited about tonight’s movie.
The movie summary seemed interesting, but your brain feels so drained that you doubt you’ll be paying much attention. Let alone be prepared to engage in a conversation afterward.
When Vernon sits down next to you on the couch, you turn to him reluctantly.
“Do you mind if we rewatch something instead tonight?”
Vernon gives you a confused look. You normally watch new movies, not old ones. When he asks about the reason, you give a summarized answer.
Vernon’s understanding and asks what you’d like to watch. Too fatigued to even think about it, you let him decide. He ends up putting on a movie that you both really enjoyed a few weeks ago. It’s light and easy to follow, yet it had spurred you both to talk about it for hours—somehow getting into a deep conversation.
You snuggle into his side while the opening credits play. He moves one of his arms around your shoulders, rubbing it tenderly. Although it’s not a traditional movie night, you’re glad you still get to participate in it regardless.
Chan
Chan would like to seem more observant than he really is. He would like to say he knew why you were so distant or why you seemed temperamental. However, he can’t. What he does know is that you’re not as bright as you are normally. He knows everyone has their ups and downs, but your down has been occurring long enough to worry him.
He’s standing in line at the grocery store ready to check out when his phone rings. He smiles when he sees your ID; however, your response is not what he expected.
You’re crying.
You’re sniffling and hiccupping so much that it’s hard for Chan to understand what you’re saying. He coos at you, trying to calm you down so he can grasp what’s going on.
After a minute, you’re finally able to tell him you’re overwhelmed coherently. Your social battery has run out of juice and all you want to do is come home.
“I’ll be right there, baby,” he says instantly.
He leaves his cart, apologizing profusely to the worker who eyes him at the act, then beelines it to his car.
It doesn’t matter that he spent an hour picking out food. It doesn’t matter that he was waiting in line for fifteen minutes. He just needs to be there for you.
Chan stays on the line throughout the drive. He keeps you up to date on how far he is and continues to reassure you that it’ll be okay.
He meets you outside the building and engulfs you in the most secure and loving hug. He holds you against his chest, letting you wet his shirt with your tears while he rubs your back soothingly.
“How does leaving a little early sound?” he suggests.
Normally, you try to stick it out. You have a responsibility and want to fulfill your duty. However, all these non-stop events have drained you beyond recognition.
You nod and quickly text a friend at the event that you’ve started to feel sick and need to leave.
You let Chan take care of you the rest of the day. He brings you food in bed, takes care of some house chores that you planned to do, and gives you plenty of cuddles and kisses.

jeonghan thinks that having you as his roommate is possibly one of the best and worst things that’s happened to him.
you are, by far, the best roommate he’s ever had. you’re clean. not too loud. you don’t disturb him when he’s sleeping, you don’t take food from the fridge that’s clearly his and you never leave your dishes in the sink.
coming from sharing with soonyoung, seungkwan and seokmin, jeonghan doesn’t think his living situation could get any better.
or at least, he didn’t. now he’s starting to realise he has a problem, and that problem is his teensy tiny crush on you.
because not only are you clean and hygienic, you’re also nice. incredibly nice — and incredibly gorgeous, and jeonghan really doesn’t think it’s fair that you tick all three boxes so easily. and yeah, maybe it’s not the biggest crush, but it certainly doesn’t help when you go around doing stupidly endearing things, like tripping over the rug that’s been there since you moved in, or dancing when you’re cooking dinner.
or baking at odd hours of the evening — because when he gets home at nearing midnight after hanging out at joshua’s house, he can hear you clattering around the kitchen from the doorway. you don’t see him when he first enters the room, eyes fixated on the measuring scale in front of you, as you pour brown sugar into a bowl.
“what are you doing?”
you jump when you hear his voice, somehow knocking a wooden spoon to the ground with your elbow as you yelp. “when did you get here?”
“just now.” jeonghan leans against the doorway with narrowed eyes. “do you know what time it is?”
“i’m — i’m stress-baking,” you enunciate, with heavy, deliberate emphasis. “it’s relieving my stress.”
jeonghan directs a dubious glance around the kitchen. there’s a pile of flour on the counter that should definitely be in some sort of packet; chocolate chips are sprinkled across the surface; there are at least seven different dirty bowls in the sink. “is it?”
you let out a deflated sigh, rubbing at your nose and leaving an adorable smudge of flour on the top. sourly, you admit —“no.”
jeonghan pushes off the doorframe, helping himself to a handful of chocolate chips before you can bat away his hand with the wooden spoon. “so, darling roommate of mine,” he begins, lifting himself onto the few clean inches of the surface. “why are we stress baking at such an hour?”
your nose wrinkles, and you avoid his gaze with admirable intensity. “i don’t want to talk about it.”
jeonghan prides himself on knowing when to push and when not to push. he can tell, even after knowing you for only a matter of months, that you’re not ready to talk about it yet. this exact scenario, late-night, stress-fuelled baking, has happened a few times before. and, right on schedule —
“you should go to bed,” you say after a moment. but your voice wavers ever so slightly, and jeonghan knows that even though you’d never ask, you don’t want to be alone right now.
“what, so you can stress yourself out all alone?” he asks lightly. “not a chance.”
so he sits there and talks to you as you finish up your cookies, stealing chocolate chips and laughing when you scowl at him, and then offering them to you at the last second. he puts them in the oven for you because somehow, despite your nocturnal hobbies, you’re yet to invest in oven mitts, and he doesn’t want you to get burnt.
sometimes, jeonghan considers telling you how he feels. sometimes, like now, when it’s late at night and his logical thinking is dulled, and you’re laughing at all his jokes, even the stupid ones, and everything feels so indescribably right — jeonghan feels like he’s spilling over. he feels like sometimes there’s a light in your eyes when you look at him, smile with him, that makes him think that reciprocation is more than a possibility — it’s a probability.
but he won’t. he knows he won’t, not yet. maybe one day, maybe sooner than he thinks, but not yet. for now, he just slips off the counter to dry the dishes when you wash them. to flick soap at your eyes and blow bubbles with you and connect his phone to the bluetooth speaker and coax you into dancing with him in the middle of the kitchen until your brows are no longer furrowed and your smile feels fuller than it was when he walked in. until the cookies are done, golden-brown and warm and sweet, just how he feels on nights like this.

Jeonghan (Seventeen) | Scaring them + “It’s okay. I’m here.” angst/comfort | 0.9k | gn!reader
Tumblr media
“I-”
“Shut up.”
You’re seething on the opposite end of the sofa, your knees hugged to your chest and your body so tense he’s afraid something in it might snap. He can barely see you in the faint light coming in from the kitchen. Jeonghan’s just helpless about what to do now.
He realizes, in hindsight, that the prank was stupid. You did mention you like horror movies, that you enjoyed being scared sometimes. Still, he should’ve known better and he’s angry with himself that he didn’t. It’s dark, it’s late, you’ve had a long day, and already had to walk through the dark streets, of course you’d be on edge, and then he jumped out at you from the shadows in your home before you could turn on the lights.
It’s funny when Mingyu shrieks and pouts and complains, but he sees now it’s not so funny when you’re the one screaming and trembling, pushing him away when he tries to hug you and make up. You won’t even look at him.
He pushes his luck and cautiously moves to sit a little closer. You don’t pay him any mind so he monitors your reactions and continues until he’s sitting right next to you without really touching you. You glare at him when he opens his mouth, and from this close he can see the corners of your eyes are red and you look like you’re about to cry. His heart drops, and Jeonghan can’t resist the urge to hug you, to touch you, but he can slow it down.
To his surprise, you let him wrap his arms around you, you hug him back too, slowly uncurling from your previous position. He maneuvers you until his back is against the armrest and you’re almost lying on top of him, clinging to him with desperation that matches his own.
“It’s okay, I’m here,” he whispers, tucking your head under his chin after he plants a kiss to your forehead.
“It’s not okay, because you’re here,” you counter. You have every right to be upset, he acknowledges, and he deserves this but it feels like someone is trying to crush his heart in their fist.
“I know, I’m so stupid,” he agrees, squeezing you a little tighter in hopes you won’t push him away again.
“Extremely stupid,” you hiss.
“Dumbest person alive~” he sing-songs and while you don’t laugh, you scoff and that’s alright for now. At least you’re not struggling to get out of his embrace.
He holds you tightly and when you don’t say anything more, Jeonghan starts humming the melody as softly as he can. His hand rubs circles over your back, soothing you until the tension melts from your body. He closes his eyes and gets a little lost in the feeling of holding you, chasing away the unpleasant memory of you fighting against him, of you shaking in fear in his hold. That’s something he doesn’t wanna experience again, much less so when he knows it was his own doing.
But then you start moving and you want him to let go of you - he can’t stop the quiet whine that spills from his lips. You pause and everything is still for a moment before you sigh.
“I just want to see you, Han,” you explain and pull away just enough to look at his face. He gives you an apologetic smile, adjusting his position so you’re both comfortable and he can keep holding you.
“I’m sorry,” he finally gets to apologize. He nearly melts when you shift in his arms just so you could put your forehead against his.
“I know you are,” you accept, “So I hope you won’t-”
“I won’t. I’m never doing it again, I promise,” he quickly reassures you, and the only thing that stops him from pulling you flush against his body again is your hand against his chest. You frown seeing how quickly he freezes.
“I just wanna see you when we talk,” you tell him again and he quickly agrees, settling against the pillows again. “I’m not leaving, Jeonghan.”
He nods with a sigh and brings one hand to your face, gently stroking your face. “I’m just really sorry I scared you so much. I didn’t mean to.”
“I know,” you press a kiss to his cheek, “Don’t beat yourself up over it.”
He hums, and you know he won’t listen to you, so you make a note to remind him again tomorrow. For now, you think you both just need some time. You talk some more, ask each other about your days, and when he starts getting too distracted, you snuggle closer to him under the excuse of being tired.
Nobody is as doting as Jeonghan, more so when he knows he has something to make up for. He cuddles you for a few more minutes, careful to keep you nice and warm, rubbing your arms and back and whispering in his soft voice. He helps you to bed, tucks you in and gets you anything you need - glass of water, a little snack if you get hungry during the night, he sets up your phone to be charged. But just one word from your lips and he’s under the covers with you, holding you again. When he promises to protect you, you know you’re as safe as you could ever be.

The ink on the page turned from blurry outlines to clumps of black nonsense as drowsiness invades your senses. You stifle a yawn, gently putting down the book you were reading. The bright light forces you to squint as you turn on your phone, revealing the time in bold, white numbers. 12:43AM.
Jeonghan still wasn’t home yet. Strange, you think.
Don’t get it twisted—the ‘being late’ part was the farthest from strange, especially during comeback season. If he had come home any time before 10 PM, you’d be worried that Soonyoung had passed out and practice had to end early—because frankly, that’s the only inconvenience that could force that man to rest. It was admirable, how dedicated and passionate he was to his craft, though he could get quite antsy and irritated at times when things weren’t to his satisfaction.
The part that has you scratching your head was that around an hour ago, you had texted Seokmin.
seokminnie 🥹
(11:31PM) YOU: seokmin 😚😚
(11:31PM) YOU: when does today’s practice finish?
(11:37PM) SEOKMIN: practice just finished, noona~ ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝
The HYBE building was a mere five minute walk from your shared apartment. Unless he somehow lost a leg along the way, you highly doubt it takes Jeonghan an hour to walk short three blocks.
You throw a pitiful glance at the bowl of spicy noodles that stood lonesome on the marble kitchen island, already having gone cold long ago. A small sigh of disappointment leaves your lips as you decide you would just reheat it when he gets home. Again.
Clicking your phone shut, you let it fall beside you onto the velvet cushion with a muted thud and put your hands in your lap. You try your hardest to stay awake, but sleep triumphs over your willpower as you allow your eyelids to slowly flutter shut, succumbing to today’s built-up exhaustion.
Maybe, when you woke up, you'd be in the bed, rather than on the couch. The only sound you'd hear would be the distant singing of birds, and the tranquil inhales and exhales that came from the one next to you.
Tumblr media
Instead, it’s the familiar melody of beeps that played from the front door’s keypad that wakes you from your light rest.
You lift your head at the disturbance, blinking your eyes a few times to rid them of their initial blurriness and adjust to the soft white lights of the apartment. Slowly, they focus in on the figure who trudged through the door, and closed it behind him with a soft click.
Your lips upturn into a small smile, though it falters when you notice the pure exhaustion that took over his typically angelic face. You see the way his shoulders were hunched, stiff, tense. The way strands of his platinum blond hair stuck to the sheen of sweat on his forehead.
He takes off his puffer jacket, hanging it up on the wooden coatrack before padding across the floor softly, trying his best not to make any noise. He halts as the two of you make eye contact.
“y/n,” he croaks out in a tired voice, “why are you up so late? You should be asleep.”
You don’t fail to catch the faint hints of annoyance and irritation that lace Jeonghan’s tone. It confuses you.
Though, you respond calmly. “I was just… waiting for you to get back.”
Secretly, Jeonghan rolls his eyes, thinking you wouldn’t notice.
You do notice.
A thick silence falls heavy over the room, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere—one that never usually exists between you and Jeonghan. Your eyes narrow at his attitude, though they never leave him, despite the fact that he was looking everywhere else—the hardwood floor, the kitchen, the grey walls—anywhere but you.
“You don’t have to do that, you know,” Jeonghan eventually murmurs, hands finding their way onto his waist.
You lean your head into your palm, “I’m sorry?”
“Stay up and wait for me.”
“Well, I wanted to.”
“Well, I’m telling you next time, don’t.” he suddenly snaps, raising his voice slightly. He finally moves from his spot, walking towards the bedroom, not sparing a glance at you.
Your eyes widen at the way he mocked you, hurt flashing through them. Hastily, you push yourself up from the couch and follow behind him. Though you feel an unfamiliar sense of fear, you continue to ask him questions. “Jeonghan- why are you back so late? Seokmin said practice ended an hour ago.”
“Got caught up. Soonyoung’s been moody,” he answers bluntly, before disappearing into the bathroom. Your head tilts in confusion at his answer—it made no sense.
Why is he like this? Did I provoke him? you think to yourself as you slowly climb into the bed. Your brain clouds with possibilities as to why Jeonghan was so ticked, but you couldn’t think of a plausible explanation. A small groan leaves your lips as you drag your hands across your face, battling exhaustion.
Nonetheless, you continue to wait for him to come out. Maybe then, you’d get a bit of reasoning for his poor mood.
The bathroom door slides open and Jeonghan steps out. You look at him expectantly, but he still doesn’t meet your gaze. He simply slips under the covers on his side of the bed without even acknowledging you. Your eyes trail as he did so, eventually landing on his back.
It causes a shiver to run down your spine, and a deep frown to tug at the corner of your lips. Jeonghan had never faced his back to you.
This is new. And cold. And distant.
“How… how was work today?” You quietly speak, daring to break the silence.
“Good,” he murmurs back, voice muffled from the duvet. He still didn’t face you.
“Jeonghan, can you please look at me? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong, y/n. I’m just tired.”
You purse your lips, pausing for a moment, seriously debating whether to say your next words—
“Jeonghan, you know it’s not good to pent up your emotions-”
—atrocious mistake.
“God, y/n!” Jeonghan suddenly roars, throwing the duvet off his torso. You were startled by his sudden outburst, shutting your eyes instinctively. When you open them, you see that he had turned so he was now lying on his back. Staring straight at you.
It was the first time you saw his eyes that night. Earlier, you longed for him to look at you just once.
Now, you no longer wish you had ever met Yoon Jeonghan’s gaze.
What you saw frightened you.
His eyes, his big, round eyes—the ones that have always been a rich, saccharine, chocolate brown; that held golden specks and canopies of stars in them whenever he looked at you—were hooded. Hooded with lightning, with terror, with scorn.
“y/n, I’ve had a fucking awful day. I’d love to be able to get some sleep—but guess what? You’re making it fucking difficult,” he spat coldly.
You feel your chest ache, you could’ve never believed Jeonghan was capable of speaking such words to you—
“Jeonghan-”
“Could you please, just this once, shut up? I can’t deal with everything going on and deal with your bullshit. You just, don’t do anything other than stress me out. You're useless.”
—and he just keeps going, you feel yourself shrinking by the second—
“Can you please calm down-”
“Fucking hell, next time I’m staying at the dorms. I can’t deal with your stupid nagging. Who am I dating- my mom?”
—he just keeps fanning the flames—
“But-”
“GOD, JUST SHUT UP! I FUCKING HATE YOU!”
—until they couldn’t grow any bigger.
BOOM.
The sky is angry. Jeonghan is angry. Fuck, why is everyone so angry?
Your brain hasn’t even processed the venom that dripped off of Jeonghan’s tongue—but your heart has.
You feel like you had been kicked in the stomach. A familiar stinging sensation in your nose makes itself painfully known. It’s almost poetic how as heavy rain begins to pelt against the apartment’s window panes, scalding, hot tears begin to stream down your face.
You swing your legs over your edge of the bed, not daring to face him again. The tears, they don’t stop flowing no matter how much you wipe at them with the pads of your fingers—they just keep coming, racing to drip down your chin in humiliation. A sharp inhale comes from you, the sound piercing the air, causing you to slap a hand over your mouth in a pathetic attempt to prevent any more from coming out. You rashly card a hand through your hair, trying to regulate your heaving.
Your head is spinning. The rain doesn’t ease—the sounds of the storm roaring in your ears. Your back is faced to him, eyes shut so tightly you could see splashes of colours and pixels. It’s too loud for you to hear the gasp that leaves Jeonghan’s lips, nor could you see the way his face morphs from exasperation to shock.
Jeonghan is mortified.
He doesn’t know where all of that came from. All he knows is that he had lashed it all out on you, that he didn’t mean it, and that you didn’t deserve any of it. He let every single built-up anxiety and frustration out in brutal, crashing waves, onto the one person who deserved it the least.
He’s a monster.
“y/n-” he rasps, reaching out to touch your waist.
You stand up as soon as you feel his fingers brush against you, flinching away from his touch. His sudden change in demeanor startled you, leaving you sensitive and distrustful.
The entire city could hear Jeonghan’s heart drop and shatter into a million pieces.
“Oh my god, y/n-” his eyes well up with his own tears. “-please, don’t be afraid. Fuck, please, please, don’t be afraid,” he whispers, desperation so agonizingly evident in his voice.
After a few moments of heart-wrenching silence, you exhale slowly and finally turn around to look at Jeonghan. A ghost of a smile creeps at your lips as you look at him. His long, soft, wispy eyelashes. His pale, glowy skin. His heart-shaped lips. They all framed his face perfectly.
Even while crying, he was pretty.
But, your pained eyes tell him how you really feel.
“Wait, y/n-”
“I’m sorry for disturbing you, Jeonghan.”
“No, angel, please-”
Without another word, you walk out of the bedroom and close the door, leaving him in the room alone. Jeonghan put his head in his hands, dragging them down his face harshly.
You’re so fucking stupid, you’re so fucking stupid, you’re so fucking stupid- how are you going to make this up to her-
Click.
Jolting up at the sound, Jeonghan nervously looks towards the closed bedroom door. Is she not just in the living ro-
SLAM.
“Oh my god.” he whispers.
Jeonghan hurriedly pushes himself out of bed, his breathing becoming rushed and panicked, his vision growing cloudy. There’s a knot in his throat, making him suffocate on the repulsiveness of his own actions.
He runs out of the room, stumbling into the living room. There’s no sign of you—just an empty, lifeless apartment.
He finally notices the untouched bowl of food on the kitchen counter. It stood there, staring at him in shame. A weak wince escapes him at the thought of you cooking it for him.
The whole apartment was screaming at him. You hurt her.
Jeonghan can feel his lip start to quiver, his heartbeat ringing in his ears. An angry clap of lightning resounded around him—vibrating through each limb and fiber of his being, stripping away at every little fragment of composure he had left, until it all came crashing down.
He doesn’t have a single coherent thought other than she left.
She’s gone.

Tumblr media
It only takes two knocks for the wooden door to swing open and reveal your best friend, who was clad in silk pajamas and had a face painted with worry; an expression very different from her typical bold, fiery and lively personality.
“y/n!” Mieun cries, opening her arms. You fall into them, securing your own arms around her waist and giving her a warm, tight hug.
The two of you separate after a moment, the brunette ushering you inside of her apartment. A few things had changed since you’d last been over, you notice—a new painting had been hung up in the foyer, the TV was about twice the size of the old one, and a distinctively larger pair of black Balenciaga shoes stood among the row of pastel sneakers and heels.
The scent of ramen wafts around the entire home, making you go “ah” at the delicious, savoury smell.
“Late night date at home?” You ask, bending down to take off your shoes.
“Pfft, Soonyoung heard you were crying and ran into the kitchen to make the only thing he’s actually capable of making,” she jokingly rolls her eyes.
“y/n?”
You look towards the direction of the voice, meeting the eyes of Soonyoung, who had popped his head of jet black hair out of the kitchen to greet you. A big smile immediately breaks out on his face.
“Hi, Soonyoung,” you greet back, offering a small wave.
Mieun tugs at your sleeve. “He should be done with the food soon. Go sit on the couch, and get comfortable because you-” she says, tapping your cheek, “-are going to tell us what happened.” You laugh, nodding your head.
After putting away your shoes and umbrella, you make your way over to the big leather couch in the middle of the living room. A half-finished Netflix movie plays quietly on the TV screen. A slight pang of guilt hits you—you must’ve interrupted their alone time.
“Food’s done!” Soonyoung yells, emerging from the kitchen with a metal pot and three Coke Zeroes in his hands, a trail of steam following him as he enters the living room. You give a small clap, eyes lighting up at the sight of the food. Soonyoung leans down, placing a hot mat before gently setting the pot down onto the coffee table. Mieun, who had been following behind her boyfriend, sets down bowls and chopsticks. Eventually, the three of you settle down. You and Mieun sit on the couch, while Soonyoung sits on the carpet, facing you two.
“So,” Mieun begins, cracking open her drink. “care to explain- Soonyoung, where do you keep getting these fucking Cokes? There’s a goddamn crate in my kitchen,” she suddenly exclaims, staring at the can in her hand. You snort, clasping a hand over your mouth while you try not to choke.
“Jihoon’s studio is like a fucking warehouse,” he mutters. “I’m saving my friend from literal heart disease.”
Mieun pauses for a moment, before shrugging and taking a sip. “So, y/n. Care to explain why you showed up to my apartment at-” she pauses, checking her phone, “1:29 AM?”
You nod your head while chewing, wiping your mouth before you begin—
—but nothing comes out.
Jeonghan.
God, you almost forgot what he said. His words echo through your ears.
Was he asleep now?
Did he just go to sleep, without a bother in the world?
“y/n?”
You snap out of your daze, looking around aimlessly. Mieun and Soonyoung were both staring at you with furrowed brows and concerned eyes. You notice that your arms had gone limp—the bowl of noodles and metal chopsticks that were close to your mouth before were now resting in your lap.
“Give me a name,” Mieun says through her teeth, a glower on her face and an evident clench in her jaw. Your eyes widen, quickly placing your hand on her arm to get her to relax.
“Yeah, who is it? I’ll make them eat my fist,” Soonyoung adds, anger flashing in his eyes.
You let out a sad laugh at his statement. “I doubt you’ll want to do that to Jeonghan, Soon.”
An immediate blanket of silence falls over the room. Soonyoung’s rigid grip on his chopsticks grows loose, his expression immediately dropping. His lips part slightly in shock as realization strikes him.
On the contrary, Mieun seems to have gotten even angrier.
“Jeonghan?” She seethes. Slamming her bowl of noodles onto the coffee table, she stares into your eyes with pure fury. “The one who’s supposed to be in love with you? He hurt you?”
“It… surprised me too..” you mumble, eyes downcast.
“Mieun, let her finish explaining,” Soonyoung says, leaning back onto his hands, an unreadable expression on his face.
The said girl scoffs, turning to scowl at her boyfriend. “Oh, so you’re suddenly going to defend him just because he’s your member? That’s real rich of yo-”
“Mieun,” Soonyoung warns sternly, eyes boring into her.
Mieun falters, slowly backing down and leaning back against the couch. She crosses her arms infront of her chest and looks over at you, silently telling you to continue.
Watching the two of them solemnly, you shakily exhale.
Tumblr media
“God, that fucking idiot!”
You wince at Mieun’s burst of outrage, handing her her beverage. “Drink,” you say quietly, “and calm down. I’m okay, really.”
You bring your hand up to your cheek, feeling cold, dried tear stains. You hadn’t noticed that you started crying again—but, you do feel a bit overwhelmed from retelling what Jeonghan had said to you, and how genuinely terrifying it all was.
“Oh, so I’m the moody one,” you hear Soonyoung mutter under his breath. You turn to stare at him, puzzled. “Sorry?”
“Jeonghan hyung’s been in a piss mood all day. He even snapped at the choreographer when he couldn’t pick up a move properly,” he scoffs. “If I was the one who was being a dick the whole day, we would still be in the practice room right now.”
You retreat in on yourself a little, head hanging low.
God, he looked exhausted as soon as he walked through the door. I knew he was tired—why did I just badger him with questions and push him to talk? All it did was cause this situation-
“Hey, y/n- look at me.”
You slowly raise your head, meeting Soonyoung’s soft gaze. “Don’t blame yourself.” he begins, as if he knew exactly what you were thinking.
“It’s probably because of the comeback soon. Think about it—it’s been what, nine months? Since we’ve dropped an album. Our fans have been waiting for a long time, and trust me when I say the pressure has gotten to every single one of us. Plus, we’re promoting a lot in Japan this time of year, and he’s probably anxious because he’s got this, like, cult following there. I think he’s also got a few solo activities? He’s never really done those before…” he trails off, looking to the side in thought. “Anyways, my point is that there’s a lot of different things that factor into why he’s being an ass. Just know that they’re all out of your control.”
“Yeah,” you hear Mieun say, making you turn to face her. “While I don’t think any of those are an excuse for him to treat you like trash…” she murmurs, placing a hand on your shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze. “They’re all out of your control.”
You beam, eyes crinkling as your heart swells with sheer gratitude. You feel fresh tears pool at your waterlines, making you press your palms against your eyes. “God, you guys are just…so fucking cool. And such great friends,” you say, letting out a breathy laugh.
The two of them laugh loudly, Mieun handing you a tissue while rolling her eyes playfully. “Yeah, you big baby. We know. And also, you’re a much better person than I am. If Soonyoung said he hated me, I would’ve castrated him by now,” she says, making you shake with laughter as you wipe at your nose and mouth.
Soonyoung feigns offense, scoffing, “As if. They mean too much to you.”
“Oh, fucking gross!” You groan, covering your face in disgust. Soonyoung only snickers, throwing his shocked girlfriend a teasing wink.
“Anyways,” the girl shivers before turning to face you again. “since you will be staying the night, aka I’m not letting you go back to him, I’ll go get you a pair of clothes to change into. Soonyoung can sleep on the couch tonight-”
“Pardon?”
“Did I stutter?”
“Mieun, don’t do that to him. I’m fine with the couch-” you get cut off by the girl vigorously shaking her head in objection.
“No, I won’t be having any of that. He’s not the one who just got absolute shit from his boyfriend,” she replies firmly, her gaze fierce with protection.
Soonyoung whines loudly. “Babe, you literally have a guest bedroom-”
“That room has not been touched since Mingyu passed out drunk in there. It is dingy and cold and lonely. y/n does not deserve that.”
“So you’re going to make your boyfriend sleep on the couch-”
“Oh, please. Like you’ve never slept there before. Anyways, there’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom drawer, a spare towel on the counter rack, and-”
DING-DONG.
The sound of the doorbell resonates throughout the whole apartment, bouncing off each wall. It causes all of you to freeze.
“... and apparently a spare murderer too,” Mieun murmurs, slowly setting down her drink. She stands up from her spot on the couch, flattening out the wrinkles in her clothes before eyeing the front door.
“Babe, sit down.” Soonyoung mutters, also standing up and staring towards the foyer with watchful eyes.
“You sit down. It’s probably just my delivery package-”
“No.” Soonyoung doesn’t waver, grabbing his girlfriend by the arm and softly pushing her down back into her spot. “It’s too dangerous, Mieun. I’ll go.” he says protectively, letting go of his grip on her and making his way towards the door.
The girl stares at him defiantly for a moment, before letting out a sigh, her whole body visibly untensing. “Okay,” she whispers meekly, closing her eyes.
You had been biting at the inside of your cheek, staring between the two nervously. Reaching out for Mieun’s suddenly deflated figure, you wrap an arm around her, letting her rest her head on your shoulder.
“Tired?” you ask, eyes scanning over your friend. Feeling her nod her head against the fabric of your sweater, you can’t help but let out a sigh. “Me too.” you mumble in agreement.
Two silent breaths later, you speak again. “Sorry for crashing your date, by the way.” you mutter apologetically.
The girl on your shoulder shakes her head firmly. “Don’t apologize. I get way more opportunities to love Soonyoung than I get to help you when you’re hurt,” she says earnestly. Her words make you feel endlessly warm, your eyes glistening as an appreciative smile graces your lips.
Mieun sighs contentedly. “Speaking of Soonyoung- what’s taking him so long?”
What was taking Soonyoung so long to get a delivery package?
You twist your head over the back of the couch, trying your best to peek around the corner of the wall that obscured your vision. It was obvious that he was talking, a conversation very apparently happening; but, they were too far away to be anything clearer than static, stifled voices. You figure Mieun bought something high-value that required a signature.
Finally, Soonyoung’s voice becomes more coherent, allowing you to catch a little of what he was sayi-
“Listen, hyung. I don’t think you should be here right now.”
The other voice had gotten louder too-
“Please, Soonyoung-”
The air around you suddenly feels like it had dropped several degrees. You feel it again—every unstable emotion that you had managed to suppress since you left your apartment was getting thrown back into the equation like they were never even gone. He was here, at two in the morning, you didn’t know if he was here because he cared, but he didn’t just go to sleep—
“Please, I just need to see her once, I need to hear her voice, know she’s safe-”
—and he sounds just as broken as you are.
You feel Mieun bolt up out of your grasp, causing you to wince as you desperately try to bring her down again. But, she’s too fast; her whole body rattling as hot, white fury possesses her being. You watch her round the corner and disappear. A small, delicate moment of peace passes before a fuming shout penetrated the air.
“YOU HAVE A LOT OF FUCKING NERVE TO SHOW UP HERE!”
At this point, the floodgates had opened and there was no shutting them; you were in no different position than you were an hour ago, when Jeonghan took your fragile heart and smashed it against a brick wall. The sound of your friends yelling, the sound of his pleading voice—it was overwhelming your senses and thoughts.
Through your blurred vision, you see a tall figure round the corner again. “y/n?”
You take in a sharp inhale. “S-soonyoung?”
“Yeah. It’s just me, y/n. Hey, breathe.” Soonyoung shushes, slowly sitting down next you on the couch.
He picks a tissue from the tissue box, bringing it up to your face and gently wiping away the teardrops that glided down your face. Mieun’s voice (you notice a lack of variety among the voices—Mieun is presumably still berating Jeonghan, not letting him get a single sentence in.) has grown much more hushed.
“Please get Mieun to stop yelling at Jeonghan,” you whisper, shutting your eyes tightly and putting your head into your hands. You feel Soonyoung wrap a comforting arm around your small, shaking frame. “I will. She just needs to get it all out of her system…” he mumbles, trailing off.
After several deep breaths and aggressive eye-rubbing, you finally rise from your hunched position. You were going to resolve whatever happened tonight, right here, right now.
“I'm going to talk to him.” your tone is scratchy and meek, but still firm.
Soonyoung nods, gently helping you up. His arm remains around your shoulders as the two of you walk to the foyer.
Rounding the corner, you take a deep breath. A taller, familiar head of platinum blonde hair peaks out over your friend’s head. When he doesn’t notice you at a distance behind her, you find yourself peeling away from Soonyoung, mindlessly taking steps closer.
“I’ll leave, I swear. Can you please just give her this? And promise me she’ll be safe?”
Mieun snatches the thing out of Jeonghan’s grip, glowering up at him. “She’s perfectly fine here. Now leave,” she snaps, reaching for the doorknob, ready to slam it in his face.
“Wait.”
Your friend spins around, expression morphing from annoyance to surprise. Jeonghan’s gaze lifts from the girl in front of him, realizing you were standing there.
Jeonghan can feel himself grow dizzy—his body tensing, his pulse in his ears and fingertips. You were here, you were safe, were you going to tell him to leave? Or—
Mieun’s furrows her eyebrows. “y/n, I don’t think-”
“Mieun, come here.” The girl whips her head towards Soonyoung, who softly ushered her to step away from the door. She pauses for a moment, before handing back the thing to Jeonghan and throwing him one last grimace. Soonyoung grabs onto her arm, pulling her into his hold.
Now, you’re face to face with Jeonghan.
The first thing you notice is that he’s wet. His hair is damp and tousled, and he’s slightly shivering. His clothes are a shade darker than they normally were, and they stuck to his body like glue. Your eyes dart around his face, drinking him in. His eyes are bloodshot red, and his lips look like they’ve been chewed at.
“Did you run in the rain?” you ask, frowning.
Jeonghan’s breath hitches, your quiet, weak voice sounding suddenly so loud to him. “I… I couldn’t just let you leave like that,” he says nervously, eyes staying trained on your expression for even the most minor change.
A silence falls between the two of you. Jeonghan didn’t want to scare you again, instead opting to just take a step backward and offering what he had brought.
“I-I brought you this…” he mutters.
Your gaze finally breaks away from his face, looking down. He held out a small bouquet of crimson red roses, wrapped in silk pink paper and tied with a small, messy ribbon. The petals were slightly crimped and the paper had torn in some areas, but they were still beautiful.
Just like when we first started going out. A delicate smile blossoms on your face at the sweet gesture. You gently take it from him, turning it around in your hands before looking back up at him. "Thank you. Where did you get these from?"
"I-I ran- I ran to the convenience store. Sorry, they're a bit ruined."
You shake your head, eyes softening. "No, no. They're amazing."
Your smile tugs down into a frown as you notice the way he had taken another step backward, and his head hung low. His eyes are closed, lips tightly pursed together.
“Jeonghan…” you whisper, but he still doesn’t move, only screwing his eyes shut harder.
He only moves when he feels a gentle tug on his sleeve, letting himself be pulled forward until he limply fell into your embrace.
Above all the hurt and fear you felt, you were understanding. It wouldn't have been possible to make it this far in a relationship with a celebrity if you weren't.
You let him fall into your arms because you can tell he didn't mean it.
Your arms wrap around his torso instinctively, connecting around his back. After a small moment of hesitation, he wraps his own arms around your shoulders, his grip growing tighter the more time passed.
Even though his clothes were damp, even though he was shivering—an immediate warmth engulfed you as soon as you pulled him into your arms. Jeonghan is warm—he is comfort, he is home.
Your heart cracks as he buries himself into your shoulder and the fabric of your sweater immediately grows wet. The sound of sharp, uncontrollable intakes of breath leaves him, making you sigh and bring a hand up to gently card through the locks of his hair.
Feeling a small pull at your sleeve, turning your head around slightly to see Mieun stepping forward, taking the bouquet of flowers from your hands. You give her a small nod, handing it to her before focusing your attention back on Jeonghan.
“I’m not leaving, Han.”
The sound of your voice makes him sob harder. He hugs you impossibly closer, like if he were to loosen his grip, you’d vanish. The feeling of him pressing you against his body makes you purse your own lips together and squeeze your eyes shut.
“I’m not leaving. You’re okay, we’re okay.”
Slowly, you pull away, keeping a hand on him to reassure him. You rub his arm soothingly, urging him to look at you.
Jeonghan huffs, looking at you miserably before words began tumbling out of his mouth. “God, y/n. y/n, I’m so fucking sorry, I can’t even-” he can’t even finish his sentence before another shaky sob falls from his lips. “I’m such a fucking asshole. You’re so good to me and all I do is treat you like shit-”
“Jeonghan, Jeonghan.” you frantically say, cutting him off. “That is not all you do. Don’t say that about yourself, it’s not true.”
“y/n, no. I fucking- screamed at you- for what? For staying up and waiting for me to come home? For asking about my day and being concerned about me? You even made me food, for crying out loud- and all I do is treat you terribly. Say ugly things when you only deserve to hear nice ones. Make you feel- make you feel like you’re a bother to me. But you’re not, fuck, you could never be.” His voice breaks at the end, echoing around you.
“So, you don’t hate me?”
Jeonghan crumbles, his old words biting at him like a venomous snake. All he does is clench his fists harder.
“Angel,” he breathes out, looking up at the ceiling in an attempt to hold back the tears that threatened to fall.
After recollecting himself, he looks down at you again. “Of course I don’t hate you. Fuck, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I hated someone as sweet, caring, and incredible as you. I know- I know I treat you like you’re unimportant to me, but you need to believe me when I say that you’re the most important thing to me. You are me. You make me, me.”
Jeonghan notices a single tear that glided down your face. He shoots his hand up instinctively, about to wipe it away, but he stops himself at the last second and lets it fall to his side. You see the action and feel your heart lurch at his hesitance.
He’s scared to touch you.
Gently reaching for his hand, you bring it up and settle it on your cheek. You lean into his touch, closing your eyes.
“But, I scared you...”
You shake your head vigorously. “You’re the one person I could never be scared of. You make me feel safe, loved.”
Slowly, you let go, and his hand stays there, cupping your face. His thumb delicately brushes the skin underneath your eyes, wiping away the tears that fell.
“I made you cry. How could I make you cry, angel? How could I do such a thing?” he whispers, lip quivering.
“I’m okay, Jeonghan. We all have our off days, and while what you said did hurt me, I’m okay. I forgive you,” you respond. “But, if you’re feeling upset, you should talk to someone about it. The boys are here for you. I’m here for you.”
Jeonghan melts, staring at you momentarily before gently tugging you back into his embrace.
“You’re- you’re so good to me…” he says with a sniffle, carding his fingers through your hair.
“I’m good to you because you’re good, Han. You’re good, and you shouldn’t believe otherwise,” you say genuinely, rocking him back and forth.
A brief moment of peace passes before a small mumble leaves Jeonghan’s lips.
“Please come home.”
It’s so quiet that you can barely hear him—but you do, and you nod, even though you were already home.
Home is wherever Jeonghan was.

— "how could i possibly find someone else, when all you've done was love me right?" he could still see the spark and love in your eyes except, they were buried behind the glassy tears that were building up again at the brim of your eyes. it made your orbs look shinier than ever.

It was 6:48pm, you're finally done with a yet another exhausting day at work. Ah, finally. The comfort of your own bed.
A heavy sigh left your lips as your back was met with the soft, silky comforter. Hair still wet from the shower, finally changed into your comfiest clothes—basketball shorts with that one white shirt that reeks the smell of Jeonghan.
It's been exactly a month since your drunken confession to your boyfriend. nothing's changed. He still leaves before you're awake—you can hear the rustle and his quiet footsteps as he paces around to get ready, trying to make the littlest amount of noise. ensuring not to leave before giving you a quick kiss on your forehead or shoulder as he rubs your arm soothingly—and reaches home after you head to bed. It's like a routine now—one that you'll never get used to.
You tried pushing down the negativity that has been clouding your mind. You're stubborn—why aren't you leaving him yet? You asked yourself the same question every day. Yet, here you are. still anticipating greetings in his presence.
Every corner of the apartment was awfully quiet. His side of the bed had been immensely cold. your fingers swiftly gliding across the vacant space.
After a long day, there was no comfort in this well-filled space. All because this isn't your home; it was just a house you lived in.
Where could he possibly be?
It's starting to get to you that maybe, just maybe, Jeonghan was really over you. over all the things you had done together—to all the many firsts, anniversaries, lego dates—just anything you could possibly think of.
I'll give him one last week...
Pushing yourself off your shared bed, you moved towards the sleek chrome vanity that your boyfriend was able to find at the thrift store when you both first moved into this apartment.
Living with Jeonghan has been easy. You both have almost the same hobbies and interests, which allowed living together to be comfortable—something you were most worried about when he proposed for the two of you to live under the same roof.
Sure, you'd bicker all the time. How can you not when your partner is a literal menace? But you could never recall having big arguments. Jeonghan had always been soft with you. Even when you're having an argument and the pent-up anger is evident, he'll gently reach out for your hand to calm you down. Jeonghan always admires your beauty and cherishes your presence and company throughout the years you have spent together.
"I might seriously go crazy if we're not married and growing old together," he chuckled as his thumb brushed over your knuckles.
Sigh, what a sweet memory.
Bringing yourself out of your thoughts, you picked up a pan to get together a small meal before heading to bed. rinsing off the pans as well as your hand, moving towards the cupboards to gather your ingredients. making sure you weren't cooking a portion for two.
click *the tune of your keypad pierced through your apartment*
Who could it be? There's only a few people who know the password to your home—your family, his family, and obviously Jeonghan—but it's unlikely for any of them to visit or be home at this time.
And there, he stood.
It took you a second to realise that he was home. But at this hour? You could feel yourself frowning at his sudden appearance.
Grounded as you take in the realisation that he was back home. "Are you okay? Did you forget something?" you questioned, eyes laced with concern.
Your eyes were locked with his, and your mind was frantically trying to figure him out. Breath hitching as you study him. Oh, how bitter it was for you to feel this way, but that wasn't your Hannie. The man standing feet away felt like a stranger.
Your hannie was bright and cheerful, even when he was drained out physically. Your Hannie would approach you with open arms and drop whatever was in his hands just to be within your embrace. Your Hannie didn't look as solemn even when he had lost his little pet rock.
This wasn't the Jeonghan you knew and loved. This is the Jeonghan you couldn't recognise. The one you felt so emotionally detached from, the one you've tried so hard to reach out to but failed.
Where did my hannie go?
The silence was deafening. Your thoughts were so loud that you think Jeonghan could hear them screaming. Your eyes faltered to the ground as your lips formed a little pout. Oh boy, you knew this was going to be hell to calm yourself down.
Unintentionally, a loud sob slipped past your quivering lips as you choked on your tears. And with that, Jeonghan took big strides to have you in his arms.
Arms securely holding up your trembling figure as the other found its way through you damp hair. Pressing you up against his heaving chest. His own painful sobs escapes his lips melodically above your head, fingers lightly rubbing along your spine.
It hurt him to hear your cries and watch you crumble because of him. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry for leaving you confused like that," He coos at you, leaving a longing kiss on the top of your head as he gently swung your bodies.
"You must've been scared. I'm sorry, little one"
Jeonghan's words were only turning your sobs into wails. hands hitting weakly on his chest, mumbling your pent-up rants towards him.
Where have you been?
I don't even know how you've been?
Do you know how worried I am?
Was it easy for you to leave me like that?
I thought- I- I thought I lost my person.
Jeonghan's cold hands gently cupped your heated cheeks, placing butterfly kisses all over your face which managed to stop your rambling. Your eyes fell shut as you felt his plump lips against your glistening cheeks.
One on the left, and another on the right. On the crown of your forehead and the gentlest one on the bridge of your nose.
Resting his forehead against yours as, yet again, another heartbreaking sob escapes his mouth. You willed yourself to open your eyes, to be met with his reddened ones staring back into your glistening, puffy eyes.
"I love you, baby. I really do. I was overwhelmed by the thought of us," taking in a gulp of air as he continues. "I've never been so comfortable with anyone like I have been with you. I'm aware that dating someone like me isn't easy. With my never-ending practices and even tours for months, I'm afraid you'll give up on me soon and find a new person."
He sounded so wrecked over you. Your ugly cries have not died down. Hearing his last sentence made your hands shoot up; now you're the one cradling his face.
"Yoon Jeonghan," you paused as you waited for him to look at you again. Fingers gently wiping away his tear streaks. "How could I possibly find someone else when all you've done was love me right?" He could still see the spark and love in your eyes except, they were buried behind the glassy tears that were welling up again at the brim of your eyes.
How your gaze became warmer than before.
"Stay with me, y/n," he murmured under the soft glow of the sunset streak. In that tender moment, he uttered promises of forever, resounding in your ears as your lips met in a delicate, soul-stirring kiss.
Your arms find their way around his neck as you deepen the kiss. Parting slightly to catch your breath as you stabilised your overwhelmed self. "I missed you. So, so much," you whispered, your voice filled with longing and love.
"You know, I'll always be here for you, no matter what. I signed myself up for this, Hannie. I'm not going to back down after I've spent years with you and your teasing ass," which brought a soft laugh out of you and your boyfriend.
After a long separation, your lips reunited in a tender, homecoming kiss. In that moment, time stood still, and the world around them faded away. It was always meant to be like this, leaving only their love and longing.

Hug| Kim Mingyu - BONUS PART
(New readers you can read this one as one shot too if you want or you can read the whole story here- Masterlist )
Just like the lyrics of Hug, Mingyu is that Hug in your life.
Whenever it's hard [for you]
You can get a hug from me
I am the same
No matter how much you hide it
You know you can't hide it forever
So we can smile together
Don't be sorry
Don't worry
Don't be scared
Now don't cry
To me you are very precious
You can tell me today was tough
I am here, you suffered a lot
I love you
I will hug you
You wake up in the middle of a night from a scary dream which felt so real ..a piece of your heart felt broken after it..it was about Mingyu and you just want to see him and be near him right now. You fumble towards your phone and call him with shaky hands.
It's 3am and it hasn't been so long since mingyu fell asleep, his eyes go wide in worry when he sees your name on the screen, you never called him this late and you live alone. He was bound to get so worried.
"Can you come to meet me?I wanna see you please" You whisper as soon as he picks up the call.
"Angel? Are you ok did anything happen?" He asks Panicked after hearing your voice.
"Yeah just I'm not feeling well "
He notices your weak voice n promises to be there in 20 mins.
He was worried sick because you've never been like this.
As soon as he enters your apartment with the key you've given him, he goes straight to your bedroom finding you sitting on the bed with lost and teary eyes, he goes straight to you sitting on the bed cupping your cheeks immediately.
"Baby you scared me can you tell me what's wrong are you hurting anywhere?" ..he asks worried eyes roaming all over you.
You hug him instantly as if he'll disappear any second.
"I- I got a very very bad dream it felt so real and I never want anything like that to e-ever happen even in my dream" Your voice shaky from all the emotions you're feeling.
"Hey hey baby calm down please it was just a dream I'm here now hmm" He says stroking your back and head.
"Something happened and you just you just went away from me ..you disappeared and I was left alone all over again and I don't want that I I you mean a lot to me I don't want you to be away from me" ..you say sobbing...your crying increasing and he can't see you like that he has never seen you crying
"Bub I'm right here I won't leave you ever, you hear me .. why'd I ? you're so perfect, so lovely. I won't go away even if someone tried to snatch me away from you ..I'd fight the god for you if it ever comes to that..I'm never leaving you never" He repeats so you could register what he's saying, so you could understand him through your current state.
"It was just a dream you're ok,I'm ok ,I'm here with you see.." he grabs your hand putting it on his cheek while he's caressing yours ...he kisses your forehead repeatedly until you calm down.
You're crying so much he can't ever see you like this his heart is hurting so bad.
You're literally squeezing him in the hug and he's returning it he knows you need to feel him to believe it. He's not going away ..he's yours rightfully so ..you don't talk much about it but you both feel the strong connection you have otherwise there's no way you clicked in such a short time, always feeling like you got the missing piece of your puzzles always complementing each other in many things, like the way you understand each other, the way you get each other you just have to spill words and he would understand it.
Later that night after you calm down, he makes you drink water. Asks if you're ok now and pulls you on himself again, makes you sleep with your head on his chest so you could listen to his heartbeat. Tells you how much you mean to him. Keeps whispering i love you's. Keeps you close to him the whole time.
And promises himself not to let you sleep alone again ever, he wants to ask you to move in but he himself lives with wonwoo..so he decides on spending each night with you no matter what or how exhausting the day has been, you're the one he needs anyway ..to heal him at the end of the day.
A/N: wrote this back in February.
Wishing and praying for me and you all to get this type of love and comfort in our lives. We deserve to be loved like Hug Mingyu loves his lover :') 💘
