No way! I only had enough for one summon and I actually got him!
I still don't have Mona (playing since launch day…), so it's nice to finally have and a hydro catalyst character because he is so fun.

Guess who decided to grace this peasant with the 52 passes I had saved for him 🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His build needs more work as well but I'm completely fine with that. I managed to level up his traces to almost the max and I plan to finish those (besides the def, I'm okay without that lol) and then jump straight into relic farming for him. The good side of this is that Dr. Ratio will also need these, so it'll like farming for two character at once!

IF YOU UHM TAKE REQUESTS: could you do Gyutaro x extremely near-sighted s/o who refuses to wear glasses (only uses them occasionally) ?? I love your writing 🫂
Ayyy now there’s a handicap I actually have. Although I rarely take my lenses off, even when I sleep (if you wear glasses DO NOT DO THIS IT’S BAD FOR THEM). Thank you for this request, I was hoping I’d finally get one soon 😊.

Gyutaro With A Near-Sighted Reader
TW: foul language, trauma, implied/referenced bullying
A/N: reader is AFAB coded. I gave this one a lil "how you met" story before doing the headcannon stuff.
_______________________________________________________
You hate wearing your lenses. In the past, you’d be relentlessly teased for having them. You’d be called an old lady, a freak, a defective, just about everything under the sun. When your father decided to sell you to the Kyogoku house, he refused to allow you to wear them as it would hinder your chances of being accepted as a courtesan. You didn’t want to be sold, but you didn’t have a choice. Your father’s farm had a bad year for crops, as a disease ravaged about 80% of them.
Without your lenses, you were a beauty in the eyes of the public. Most people didn’t recognize you from your childhood, as you looked very different without them on. Over the years, you’d grown to navigate your extremely blurry world somewhat gracefully, but you still had your difficulties.
And that’s when you caught the eye on him.
Daki hadn’t exactly noticed how you stumbled over dips in the floorboards that a normal person would have easily spotted, nor had she noticed how you used your arms to feel how close objects actually were to you. But he did. He noticed how you’d need to lower your face just a few inches from papers to read them. Had he been spying on you in your room to gain this little morsel of knowledge about you? Maybe. His interest had been piqued after all.
Near sighted young people were extremely rare at this point in history. He wanted to devour you. He wanted to see you as pathetic. He wanted to toy with your emotions.
While you were away at the markets one night, Gyutaro rummaged through your belongings. His suspicions of your defective eyes were confirmed as he revealed a pair of lenses in the very back of one of your drawers. Obviously, you had not used them for quite some time. The excitement he felt at this discovery gave him a sick pleasure as he knew what to do next.
He waited for you to return, standing in the darkest corner of your room. Once you entered and sat on your mat, exhausted from having to avoid bumping into everyone and everything in the bustling entertainment district, a low, terrifying giggle startled you, causing you to fall to your back with a squeak.
“Look at you. So helpless, Like a little mole rat.”
A wobbly male voice teased you from the corner. Your eyes shot toward the source, but the only thing you could make out was a dark amorphous figure shrouded in shadow.
“W-who a-are you? A c-customer? I’m sorry b-but I’m done with s-services for the night-“
The male giggled louder, cutting you off.
“What’s the matter? Can’t see me?”
Your breath caught in your throat.
Did he know? How could he know?!
“Of c-course I can’t! Y-You’re in the d-dark!”
Annoyance was bubbling through your fear. You’ve had some creepy clients, but this one was just plain rude.
You couldn’t tell he was moving closer to you until a pair of glowing orange orbs began to come into focus.
“You sure it’s just the dark, sweetheart?”
The sickening tone he used for the name he gave you sent a shiver down your spine, but you remained still. Partially out of fear, partially out of indignance that this guy was invading your personal space.
“Just what d-do you think you’re doing? Stay back! I told you my room is closed for the night!”
This isn’t the first time a man has intruded on you. Most of the time when you’re firm enough, they tend to just scoff and leave, promising to complain to the house owners about your “behavior.” However, you were growing increasingly aware of the dangerous aura of the man that was now about 5 feet away from you. In the dim candlelight, you could finally make out a fuzzy green blob framing the orbs you noticed moments ago. Was that his head? Green is such an unusual hair color.
“I don’t think I wanna leave just yet. Not before I have some fun.”
Your heart sunk. He was right in front of you now, and you could finally see just how tall and imposing he was. There was no way you’d stand a chance against him. You thought about calling for the Oiran, who was merely a couple of doors down from you.
“Oh, I wouldn’t start screaming if I were you, hehe.”
He crouched, his blurry form still seemingly towering over you, but his face was becoming a bit clearer. If you squinted, you could even maybe make out some black markings inking out the sickly grey color of his skin.
“W-What do you w-want from me?!”
You tried to back away, but your body refused to cooperate with you. Then, a rectangular shape began swinging in front of your face.
“Why don’t you slip these on for me, girl? Take a good look at who you’re talking to.”
You recognized the case he was dangling in front of you. It was close enough to even make out the familiar patterns in the fabric. Your breathing became erratic as the traumatic memories that came with that case started to surface in your mind.
“G-Get that thing away from me!!! How did you find that?!”
You began cowering, but not from him. Your arms shielded your face as you expected a rock to be chucked your way like all those years ago. All those cruel, pretty girls that treated you like dirt because of those stupid, ugly things.
Confusion suddenly washed over him. He hadn’t expected such a visceral reaction from you. At least, not before you put the lenses on. He narrowed his eyes at your shrinking form, frowning, and hummed to himself.
Somehow, this was becoming a lot less fun.
“Y’know, I was expecting this after you put these on, you pathetic girl. The hell is wrong with you?”
His words made you pause.
“Wha-what do you mean?”
He growled, becoming frustrated. He brought his fingers to the opening of the pouch and fished out your lenses before shoving them your way.
“Put em’ on and find out.”
The sight of your lenses brought a tremble to your fingertips.
“I… I can’t”
He scowled and shook his hand up and down.
“Whaddya mean ya can’t?! Are ya stupid or somethin’?!”
You felt your eyes mist over at his words, causing you to wrench them shut and shake your head.
“NO!”
In mere moments, your hand flung through the air and knocked the lenses to the ground.
He just stared at you in disbelief, his hand still outstretched to you.
A string of broken sobs erupted from your lungs as you crouched forward.
“I can’t wear them! I can’t wear them!”
Your fist banged the ground.
“They turn me ugly!”
Bang
“They make me weak!”
Bang
“They make me defective!”
Right before your fist was about to make contact with the floor again, a large hand wrapped around your wrist and forcefully pulled you up to your feet.
You yelped in pain, but another hand covered your mouth.
“Listen here, girl. You have no idea what you’re talkin’ about. You got it pretty good, ya know. Look at your skin, not a blemish or scratch to be seen anywhere. Ya got pathetic men from all over the district wantin’ you every night. You’re a lucky one. And I’m gettin’ tired of your pathetic blubbering. Now.
As you struggled and grabbed at the arm that had your face in a vice grip, you felt something be forcefully slipped onto your face.
“Look at me.”
He let you go, causing you to tumble to the floor.
The second you opened your eyes, you gasped at the clarity of the room. Your eyes strained against the corrective properties of your lenses, having not been used to them after so many years of not wearing them.
Then, your gaze snapped to the man… no… thing towering above you. The crystal clear visage of his sickly body froze you in your place.
It all became clear to you now. His strength, his glowing eyes, his hair color…
He was a demon.
A demon here to eat you, no less.
You hadn’t realized he was talking to you until he spread his arms out wide, scowl evident on his face.
“… what? Got nothin’ to say?! What’s the matter, stupid girl?! Worm!”
You couldn’t pinpoint what exactly you were feeling in that moment, but it wasn’t fear. Something in his mannerisms, his tone, you just couldn’t detect the malice from before. He was frustrated, now. It was as though he was repeating lines from somewhere.
The only thing running through your mind…
Was that this was the most beautiful creature you have ever seen.
Perhaps it was the first clear image of someone you’d witnessed in four years, or the adrenaline high you were coming down from, or maybe just pure survival instinct, but you couldn’t help but just… stare.
You’d expected to be terrified of demons. And maybe you should be running as fast as you can right now.
He crouched in front of you with that angry scowl of his, now balling a handful of your hair in his hand and bringing his face right up to yours.
“Go on, wench. Tell me how ugly you are now. Tell me how defective you are now. TELL ME!”
He snapped, but you didn’t flinch away. You just stared into his eyes with your wide, glassy ones.
Then, before you even processed what you were doing, you brought a hand to his face and brushed a finger over the largest black splotch that ran over his cheeks and nose.
He felt time stop at your touch, his face falling into a confused frown.
“I see you.”
Your gentle voice, now free of fear and trauma, talked through him. His eyes widened.
Now it was his turn to shiver.
Letting go of your hair, he shot to his feet, a foreign surge of emotion jolting his spite and spreading throughout his chest and throat.
Not a trace of fear showed itself on your features like he’d expected it too. No. It was almost as though you were… liking what you were looking at.
Endearment if you will.
Before you could stop him, he bolted out of your room, now overloaded with conflicting feelings and no one to take it out on. He certainly wasn’t going to take them out on you. He needed to understand your mysteries. He needed to prove that no one on this planet was just naturally inclined to look at him like that. The world was cruel, and he deserves to take from it for how it’s treated him…
You’re just a common whore. You’re just like everyone else. He’ll prove it.
At least… that’s what he tells himself.
Headcannon time!!! Do with your little origin story what you will, now it’s time to skip to the fluffy stuff.
You still refuse to wear your lenses most of time.
Once you’d tell Gyutaro about your past trauma (probably after he’d start courting you), he’d understand, but would insist that you let him guide you around.
You’d become frustrated that he would demand such a thing, claiming that you’d managed all these years without his assistance, but the moment you saw his downtrodden face you quickly relented.
He didn’t know it himself, but Gyutaro’s urge to protect his sister from the world was also extending to you.
Once you’d discover that the Oiran was actually Gyutaro’s sister, you’d still be cautious around her, but now there was a sense of familiarity with her.
Daki would find out about your poor vision through her brother very quickly. She’d be confused and a little angry that Gyutaro would waste so much time on you but would relent to his desire for you. After all, he gets what he wants and vice versa.
She’ll behave and treat you like an acquaintance, but nothing more.
You never expected to fall for a demon. Hell, you were still kind of skeptical about their existence until Gyutaro came into your life. And yet you managed to catch the heart of one of the most dangerous demons in existence. All through just… seeing him.
Gyutaro is the only being in existence that you’d ever put your lenses on for.
On lonely, rainy nights in particular, when you miss him the most, you have your lenses ready at your side for when he comes to visit. And when you hear his faint “hello, sweetheart,” you excitedly slip your lenses on just to see him.
Gyutaro had to admit, he’d grown to love the look of you with your lenses on. The way your face lights up when you can truly see him gives him just the right rush of emotions to smile. Not a creepy, malicious smile. A genuine, happy grin.

FHR: Escapist inklings (Ao3 Link) Characters: Sidestep (Farm, 2nd visit) Warnings: Canon-typical suicidal ideation, implied abuses at the Farm, nothing explicitly shown. Word Count: 735 Summary: Sidestep sits in solitary confinement, pondering possibilities for escape and stumbles onto an idea.
Lying on the mat in your cell, you toss and turn with restless frustration. It's impossible to get comfortable between the fresh bruises of the day and the dampeners weighing down on your mind. They're immutable around you, making the four close closed walls even more claustrophobic. A choke hold on your mind that would be much more merciful if it was clenched tight around your throat.
If only you could be so lucky.
You still on your back, the thin mat doing little to cushion your scrawny atrophied body from the cold concrete floor. Your stomach gnaws at your spine, fed just enough to keep your brain alive and active, because that's all they care about. Not fed enough to be comfortable, to remind you that good dogs get good meals. You ignore these slights against yourself. You're still breathing. Focus on that.
In.
Out.
Slow.
Steady.
Don't think about how you learned this, years ago, a passive puppy learning to self-soothe to serve. They want that good obedient dog back, not the feral stray cat you became once out of their bag. You'll die before becoming that sad browbeaten creature again. And they'll regret the tiger you'll be once you figure your way out of this cage. Once you have your claws on their throats.
How to get out is the only thing stopping you.
Telepathy won't get you out of this, not with the dampeners trapping your reaching prying fingers inside your own skull. You aren't a shape-shifter. You can't dematerialize and pass through walls. You can't pass unseen and unheard through spaces between reality, not like the Void.
Hm. The Void.
You saw the paths she walked once. You made yourself forget them as the green faded from your sight and the burn faded from your veins. Could you make yourself remember them again? Could you walk them again? Pass through the walls of this place like the ghost you are. What's the worst that can happen if you try? You venture too deep into the space between? It crushes you like it crushed the Void? Ends your miserable existence here? You can't see a downside to trying.
You breathe. In. Out. Remember. The acid of her Blood burning deep in your veins. The color of her Sky, deep underground. The paths they opened in the spaces between, seared deep inside of you. Push your fingers through the folds of your mind, peel and pry back the scars chaining the memories so very deep, gouge them out, let them flow fresh and green.
(ignore the screams. yours. ortega's. they're all in the past.)
Your eyes open inside and you see. It's tiny, barely visible, like dust motes in a shaft of light. Small. Mutable. Immaterial. You can't walk this. Your flesh is weak but solid. It binds you to this plane.
But your mind is strong. It doesn't need this flesh. It needs to go free, unfettered, unburdened, unreal. You have to escape the gravity well of mind to body. You have to unmake your self to become.
You need to let it go.
You reach and you drag your self, pulling taut, tauter, tight, tighter, and then finally the invisible cord binding you to you snaps.
You think you scream.
But no one comes in.
Your body breathes on below, but you are weightless above.
Immaterial.
Free.
On the moted path, you wander. Beyond the choke of the dampeners, you fly. Feather light and feather flow, you drift down towards another mind.
A guard. Yours. Seated in a padded chair, viewing screens that capture you and your cell, inside and out from every angle.
You flow into the cracks of his mind, taking a tenuous hold amidst his stream of consciousness. He's bored watching you sleep, especially now that you've settled. He needs to go to the bathroom, but his shift mate has stepped out to smoke. He wonders what will be for dinner when he gets home after third shift is over. He half-hopes you'll start pounding the walls again, just to break up the monotony.
You wonder…
Can you do more than watch…?
Tickle a little nerve.
His hand jerks and he swears as the mug of coffee spills across the desk. In his panic, your tenuous hold snaps like a rubber band.
You lurch upright, you again, you yourself, choking on bitter victorious bile as you laugh.

Feels Like Home [05]
Summary: When an unexpected three-week break between Monza and Singapore finds Daniel back on his farm in Perth he’s desperate to use this time to clear his mind, figure out his future in Formula One, and find his way back. He didn’t expect a new neighbour, a sassy two-year old, and three alpacas would make him realise that sometimes, what you’re looking for is right in front of you.
Pairing: Daniel Ricciardo x reader (unnamed OFC)
Warnings: Language
Word count: 6.2k (I regret nothing)
AN: First of all, thank you for all the love on the last four chapters, it warms my cold dead heart to see your comments and reblogs and just- Thank you ♥ This next chapter is a little special to me because this is ultimately where the story started. I wrote this first (which is so unlike me because I never write out of order) and only started working on the rest of the story after. I really hope you like it as much as I do :)

“I’m setting the timer for fifteen minutes, ok?”
It’s a rhetorical question from Michael and so Daniel doesn’t answer but instead closes his eyes, drops his shoulders, and straightens his back. His wrists are resting on top of his knees as he sits in a cobbler’s pose on a yoga mat in the middle of his home gym. He tries to clear his head, tries to focus on his breathing and the meditation exercise Michael wants him to do but he’s too distracted by the late winter storm that’s raging outside and he ends up counting the seconds between the thunderclaps instead. Who knows, he thinks, maybe that counts as meditation too.
It must, at some point, because when his phone starts ringing he startles, eyes flying open and his heart somewhere high in his throat. He lets out a high-pitched, “Jeepers,” he isn’t necessarily proud of before he blindly reaches behind him in search of his phone.
“Dan,” Michael says beratingly, still in his cobbler’s pose, eyes closed, back ramrod straight, as poised as ever. “You have a ‘do not disturb’ option on there, mate. Use it next time, will you?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Daniel replies absentmindedly, finally getting a hold of his phone. He can’t help but smile when he sees who’s calling and so he answers with an eager, “Hey,”
“Daniel, hi-”
For a moment he thinks she’s calling him to talk about what happened last night because God knows he would like a do-over so he could have kissed her but she sounds- Upset and so he’s on edge immediately, stretching out his legs so he can get up quickly if he has to. He has a feeling he might.
“I’m sorry to bother you but I didn’t know who else to call and-”
“Hey, no,” he interrupts her, his voice more soothing now because he wants her to know he’s there for her no matter how bad it is, all the while hoping that whatever it is has nothing to do with Ellie. Or Oscar. “What’s going on?”
She lets out a heavy sigh and he can just about see her bite her lip the way he’s noticed she does whenever she’s upset, “A tree fell down over at Eagle’s Nest and it wrecked a good five metres of fence.” She lets out a shaky breath and it’s then he can hear the wind and the rain on her end of the line, “I’m trying to keep the girls inside the paddock but with the storm-”
“They’re scared,” he offers, knowing how nervous the herd is on any given calm day so he can only imagine how stressed they must be now. He hears Homer bark on the other end of the line then and he’s never been more relieved to know she’s at least got the dog with her.
“Yeah,” she says, her voice a little shaky and he hates how desperate she sounds. “I need to get the fence fixed but I can’t get them inside the shed and-”
“Say no more.” Daniel gets up and taps Michael's shoulder to get him to join him, “We’re on our way.”
Michael eyes him suspiciously but does as he’s told when Daniel shakes his head to let him know now’s not the time to ask questions.
“Where are you?”
“You know that little creek that passes through Eagle’s Nest on the south border?”
Not even a week ago he would have had no idea what she’s talking about, would probably have gotten lost trying to find her, but now he knows exactly where she is, “Near that old gum tree?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok. Just-” He hesitates, not in the least because Michael is staring at him like he’s suddenly grown three heads and so he turns his back to his best friend and lowers his voice, “You got this, ok? Stay with the girls, they trust you, right?” He waits until she hums in reply before he continues, “I know it’s scary but we’ll be there soon, ok? I’m not letting anything happen to you or the girls.”
“Ok,” she whispers and his heart, oh his heart.
“Ok.” He motions for Michael to follow him downstairs. “I’m on my way.” He’s about to hang up when he hears her call his name and so he puts the phone back to his ear, “Yeah?”
“You should-” She clears her throat, “Can you check on Granddad and Ellie first? I’ve been here for a long time already and-”
“Yep. I’ll stop there on the way over, ok?”
“Ok.”
“Babe-” the term of endearment slips out almost effortlessly and he hopes he’s allowed to use it- “you got this. Homer’s with you. You got this.” It’s then he walks into the kitchen and sees Blake look up at him from where he’s working on his laptop at the kitchen table. Daniel shakes his head to the question he knows Blake was going to ask and he can see Blake shift his focus to Michael, looking at him for answers but Michael just shrugs and Daniel knows he has some explaining to do. Not now though. Now, he tells her, “I’m going to hang up now, ok? We’re on our way.”
“Ok.”
“Ok, I’ll see you soon.” He ends the call and pockets his phone and before Michael or Blake have the chance to say anything he rattles off a list of things they need, “B, I’m gonna need you to put on some of my boots and a rain jacket, get the truck and see if the chainsaw’s still in the back. If not, it should be in the garage. Make sure to grab a can of diesel as well and then meet us back here.” He turns towards Michael next, “Mikey, I need you to gather some dry clothes, sweats, jumpers, take whatever you need from the merch samples in my office and then get dressed as well. We’re going to be outside for a while and it’s shit weather, so both of you dress warm, ok?”
Blake and Michael look at him as if they’re still trying to process what is happening but then Daniel spurs them on by clapping his hands a few times and watches them do as they’re told without asking any questions and Daniel’s not sure he’s ever loved his best friends more than right at this exact moment.
It takes them no more than five minutes to get everything they need and then they’re off, Daniel quietly cursing because the bad weather makes him drive slower than he’d like but he knows it’s better to be safe than sorry right now.
“Where-” Blake starts from the backseat but then lets the question die down, as if he knows he won’t get a straight answer anyway.
Daniel looks at him through the rearview mirror, “I’ll explain everything later, ok? I just-” He looks at Michael then, “It’s a long story.”
Michael nods and pats his knee, “It’s ok, mate. Just tell us what to do when we get there.”
Daniel nods and tries to at least explain where they’re going but the words seem stuck in his throat and so he focuses on the road instead, the rain hitting the car and the frantic squeaking of the windshield wipers the only sound until he puts his blinker on and turns into his neighbour’s driveway.
Next to him he hears Michael let out a quiet, “Ah. Ok.”
Daniel doesn’t say anything because all of a sudden he feels nervous, something tightening in his stomach as he pulls up to the house. “I’m gonna check up on Oscar real quick, ok? Stay here.”
“We’re not helping Oscar?” Michael asks, a little surprised.
Daniel shakes his head but doesn’t say anything and he can feel both Michael and Blake stare at him as he unbuckles his seatbelt, puts on his hood, and steps outside, but once again he decides not to waste any time. He’ll explain later. They’ll understand.
The rain is relentless, pelting down on him and making his face tingle and so he jogs towards the front porch, letting out a relieved breath when he’s out of the rain. He tries to shake off as much water as he can before he pushes his hood down and kicks his boots off. He knocks three times, hoping Oscar can hear him over the howling wind so he doesn’t scare the old man, and then opens the door and steps inside, shrugging off his raincoat and leaving it on one of the hooks on the wall.
He finds Oscar where he expected him to, in the living room, except there are no old reruns of the Price Is Right playing in the background this time, and Daniel tries to smile so as to not upset the old man, “Hi mate, how’s it going?”
Oscar looks up at the sound of his voice and Daniel can see his eyes light up, “Danny, thank God.”
“Did she call you too?”
Oscar nods.
“Ok. Good. I got two of my mates in the car and we’re heading over there right now, but she wanted me to check up on you and Ellie first though, so here I am.”
“Ellie’s been awake for a while,” Oscar says, sounding incredibly guilty. “I think she only slept for thirty minutes before the thunder woke her up. I’ve been trying to get up to get her but-”
“Hey,” Daniel puts his hand on the old man’s arm, “it’s ok. Ellie will be fine. I’ll go get her, ok?”
Oscar nods again, “Thanks, Danny.”
“Don’t worry about it, mate,” Daniel says as he stands up. He hurries up the stairs and all but runs to Ellie’s room, relief washing over him when he finds the little girl sitting upright in her cot, quietly babbling to herself as she hugs a stuffed koala close to her chest. Daniel moves slowly so as not to startle her, “Hi Ellie.”
The moment Ellie sees him she starts to smile, holding out her arms to him, her voice still a little raspy, “Danny.”
Something tugs on his heart then, not only because she remembers him but also because she seems genuinely happy to see him, and he’s not sure if it’s love just yet but it comes awfully close. “Hi sweetheart,” he says as he reaches into her cot and picks her up. “Hey sleepyhead.”
She looks at him intently, little brows furrowed in an adorable way, and then looks past him as if she’s searching for something. He guesses she is when she says, “Where momma?”
“Momma’s outside,” he tells her with what he hopes is a reassuring smile. He can see her bottom lip start to tremble and so he quickly adds, “She asked me to come check up on you and Pop-Pop before I go to see her. A tree fell down so she needs some help.” It feels important to add, “But as soon as we’re done we’ll come right back, ok? I know momma misses you too.”
Ellie seems to think about that for a second but then she settles into him without hesitation, head resting on his shoulder as she lets out a content sigh and he swears he feels his heart grow at least three sizes.
“Let’s get you downstairs, huh? Go see Pop-Pop,” he whispers before he presses a kiss to the top of her head. When he turns around he sees the changing table and he knows from when his sister’s kids were smaller that he should probably check if her diaper is full but he’s not sure he’s allowed yet and so instead he grabs what he thinks is the diaper bag and takes it downstairs with him.
“She was very much awake,” Daniel says as he makes his way back into the living room and drops the bag next to where Oscar is sitting. He bows down so he can hand Ellie over but the little girl clings to him even more and shakes her head, “With you.”
“You gotta stay here for a little while, sweetheart,” Daniel explains but Ellie doesn’t seem to want to let go and looks away. Daniel looks at Oscar for help but knows there’s not much he can do either and so he stands back up and tries again, “I have to go help momma, bub.”
“No.”
Daniel has to suppress a smile, admiring the little girl’s stubbornness that she’s definitely gotten from her mom.
“Come with,” Ellie whispers.
He knows he doesn’t really have time to try and convince the girl to stay here, plus he’s got Blake and Michael with him so surely one of them could watch Ellie while they fix the fence. Daniel looks at Oscar and shrugs apologetically, “Is it ok if I take her? Might be easier that way.”
Oscar nods and leans over so he can grab what seems to be Ellie’s clothes from the couch next to him, understanding the urgency, “Put these on. Take the bag. Her rain suit is in the mudroom. Boots too.”
“Mint,” Daniel says with a smile as he takes the clothes from him. “Come on, bub. Let’s get you dressed.”
Somehow he remembers to warm up a bottle of milk for her before he stuffs a banana in his pocket and hauls ass to his car. He doesn’t have a car seat and so, when he opens the passenger’s door a few minutes later, he hands Ellie to a very bewildered looking Michael instead, “Say hi to your uncle Michael, El.”
“Mate, what?”
Daniel doesn’t answer, gives the little girl her bottle and closes the door because he knows they’ve been here far too long already and he really, really wants to make sure she’s ok. When he slides into his own seat he takes his hood off and grins at Michael, who's still looking confused as fuck but now with a toddler in his lap, “Not mine. Promise.”
“Ok,” Michael draws out, pulling the zipper of Ellie’s rain suit down a little so it doesn’t dig into her skin. “Whatever you say, mate.”
From the backseat Blake lets out a cackle, “You’ve got some serious explaining to do, mate. This is all confusing as f-”
“Oi!” Daniel reaches back and flicks Blake’s forehead, “Watch your language, will ya.”
This time it’s Michael who laughs, “I don’t even know what is happening right now but-”
“Just-” Daniel starts the car and heads past the sheds and onto Coopers Lane, knowing it will get them to Eagle’s Nest quickest. “Later, ok? I promise.” He pulls the banana out of his pocket and puts it on the dashboard, “Give her this once she’s finished her bottle, will ya?”
“Uhu,” Michael says as he tightens his grip on Ellie who is quietly singing her made up ‘Danny Banana’ song to herself and seems to be perfectly happy to be here. He doesn’t say anything else and Daniel is thankful that both Michael and Blake seem to understand the urgency of him wanting to get wherever it is they’re going, instead of wasting time answering their questions.
It takes them about ten minutes to reach the creek and he spots her red ute easily enough, parked haphazardly in front of the fallen tree. He pulls up behind it and tells Michael and Blake to stay put while he checks out what’s going on before he looks at Ellie and says, “I’m going to go find momma, ok. You stay here with uncle Michael and uncle Blake?”
The girl nods enthusiastically and above her Michael absolutely beams, “She likes me.”
“Yeah, she does.” Daniel smiles and gently squeezes Ellie’s cheek, “I’ll be right back, ok?” He doesn’t wait for an answer and jumps out of the car, trying to see if he can see where she’s at. It’s still raining and so he holds his hand over his eyes, squinting as he lets his eyes roam along the fence line until he sees something bright yellow a little further down. He wants to rush towards her but he knows it’ll scare the animals and so instead he starts quietly talking so they know there’s someone coming.
When he’s only a few metres away from where they’re standing he stops because for now the situation seems under control and he’s not sure it’ll stay that way if he comes any closer. He raises his voice so they can hear him, “Hello ladies.” The dog lets out a whine and so he quickly adds, “And Homer.”
“Oh, thank God,” she whispers and he can see the relief wash over her. The three alpacas she’s trying to keep from escaping are absolutely drenched but are at least staying in their spot and don’t seem to be planning going anywhere else just yet.
He gives her a small smile, “Sorry it took us so long, we-”
“Us?”
“Yeah, uh-” he scrunches his nose, “Michael and Blake were over at my place so- They’re here to help.”
She nods but doesn’t say anything else and he figures she’s probably exhausted and cold and he wants nothing more than to tell her to take Ellie and head back to the house, that he’ll take care of it with Michael and Blake but he knows they’re nothing without her knowledge and so he offers the next best thing, “What do you need us to do?”
She takes a deep breath and nods towards the pack, “If we can get them into the shed? That way we don’t have to worry about them escaping.” When he nods she continues, “There’s rope in my car, take that, and also- Grab a bucket and put two or three scoops of the grain pellets in there, it’s all in the trunk. Might be easier to lure them that way.”
“Ok.”
“I only need you here, Daniel,” she adds then with a hesitant smile. “The girls know and trust you but if we bring two other people in-”
“They might get spooked.” Daniel nods, trying to act cool even though the way she just told him she only needs him makes him feel all sorts of things, and so he does what he does best and acts goofy, pointing his fingers at her and clicking his tongue, “Gotcha.” It makes him feel like an idiot.
If she feels the same way she at least is graceful enough not to cringe at his antics. “They can help after,” she says and he knows it’s because she feels guilty. “With the fence?”
“Don’t worry about them,” he’s quick to reassure her as he waves to where his car is. “They’re watching Ellie, so I’m sure they’re on their third rendition of ‘The Wheels of the Bus’ anyway.”
“Ellie?” She narrows her eyes at him and for a moment he’s worried he’s fucked up but then she nods, “I guess it’s probably better you didn’t leave her with granddad. Who knows how long this is gonna take.”
“I’ll go get everything we need,” he says. He throws her a wink then, “‘I’ll be right back.”
***
The feed proves to be a lifesaver and you’re able to lure the pack to the shed within seconds.
“It’s ok,” you tell the girls, who are huddled together in the far corner. “You just stay here for a while, ok? We’ll go fix the fence and then I’ll be back to check up on you later.” You tell Dan to step outside before you follow after him and quietly close the door. You can’t help the relieved sigh that escapes you once you let yourself lean against the shed, shielded from the rain by the overhanging roof, “Holy shit, I’m glad that’s over.”
“Come here,” Daniel says and holds out his arms to you, pulling you close when you step into his embrace, and presses a long hard kiss to your temple. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
You shrug but wrap your arms around him a little tighter anyway. It's the first time he's holding you like this and it feels- Nice. Part of you wants to stay here, wrapped up in his arms with his chin resting on the top of your head and your cheek against his chest, but, “We should probably go fix that fence, huh?”
Daniel smiles then, “Wanna go say hi to Ellie first?”
You nod and Daniel lets go of you, taking your hand instead, and leads you back to his car. You can hear Ellie’s high pitched giggle coming from inside and can’t help but smile when you see one of Daniel’s friends, Blake he tells you, make silly faces at your daughter who’s sitting in what then must be Michael’s lap.
Daniel knocks on the hood to let his friends know you’re back and seconds later two grown men and a toddler tumble out of his truck and you make a conscious effort to remember this moment forever because it’s too precious not too.
Ellie wriggles in Michael’s arms and when he puts her down she rushes over, “Momma!”
“Hi baby,” you pick up your little girl and pepper her face with kisses. “Momma’s missed you.” You look at Daniel’s friends then, “Thank you, guys.”
“No worries,” Michael tells you. “That’s easily the happiest, most easy-going kid I’ve ever seen.” Next to him Blake nods in agreement.
“Just like her mom,” Daniel adds with a wink before he introduces you to his friends.
Blake and Michael share a look but don’t say anything and you doubt Daniel has even seen it, too busy blowing a raspberry at Ellie, but before you have a chance to ask if they even knew of your existence Michael looks at you and nods towards the paddock, “What can we do to help?”
“I think we need to start by cutting down that tree,” you tell them as you point over your shoulder. “It looks like only a few branches hit the fence so if we take those now I can do the rest later this week.” Daniel starts to protest but you shake your head, “That’s for another day, Daniel. I can always ask George Yanos to come help out. I just really want to get that fence back up as soon as possible so we can all go home and warm up.” You look at Blake and Michael then, “You two are staying for dinner, by the way.”
“We haven’t even done anything yet,” Blake protests.
“Oh,” you reply with a wicked grin, “just you wait.” You turn to Daniel, “Can you head back to the farm and get the chainsaw? It’s in the shed next to the chicken coop.”
Daniel grins wickedly and nods towards his truck, “I already brought mine.”
“Ok. Perfect.” You look back at Michael and Blake, “Blake, could you help Daniel with the tree? If you cut the branches off first you should be able to cut down the trunk a lot easier after. It doesn’t have to be pretty and you can just leave it where it is, as long as the fence is cleared.”
Daniel nods and Blake salutes you with a grin, “Yes ma’am.”
“Michael? Would you mind taking care of Ellie? I’ll get started on the fence but I can’t really watch her at the same time and-”
“Of course,” Michael says with a wide smile. He squats and holds out his hands to Ellie who walks over to him without hesitating.
You look up at the sky then, a little relieved to see some lighter patches in between the clouds, “The rain should die down a little over the next hour or so, but I don’t really want to wait on that so I think we might as well get going now.”
Without having to say anything else the guys spur into action and you press a quick kiss to Ellie’s cheek, “Let’s get to work, huh bub?”
***
It takes them almost thirty minutes to cut all the branches off but at least by then the rain has changed to a light drizzle and the wind has dropped considerably.
“So,” Blake starts all of a sudden, after he’s picked up a piece of the branch they’ve cut up earlier so he can drag it away from the fence, “how long has this been going on, mate?”
“Blake,” Daniel warns him, not wanting her to overhear his dumbass best friend making smart remarks.
“What?” Blake feigns surprise but grins, “Seriously mate, what is going here? Is this why you wanted me to clear your schedule? So you could hook up with your neighbour?”
Daniel picks up a branch as well and joins Blake to where they’ve started a pile of sorts, a little further into the paddock, “I’m-” he starts, not sure what he’s going to say because he doesn’t even know. He glances over his shoulder to where she’s repairing the fence then, Michael standing next to her with Ellie on his shoulders, and when she looks up and catches his gaze, and his entire body heats up because she smiles at him, he knows he’s officially done for and so he tells Blake the truth, “I really like her, mate.”
“Dan-”
“I know,” Daniel says, holding up his hands in defence, knowing exactly what it is his best friend is implying. “I know, ok?”
Blake lets out a sigh as he pushes his glasses up and pinches the bridge of his nose, “It’s just- We can make this work after the season, ok? Not now.”
Daniel scoffs, “I said I like her, mate. Not that I’m thinking of proposing to her next week.”
“No, I know but-” Blake shrugs, pushing his glasses back down. “If this comes out before we’ve finalised the Red Bull deal we’ll have a hard time telling everyone they had nothing to do with each other.”
Daniel doesn’t say anything for a while, just stares at his best friend and for the briefest of moments he hates that Blake is also his manager and always has to think five steps ahead and can never just be happy for him.
He knows the PR-game is always a tricky one, even more so whenever he dates someone he actually likes, but it’s not like they run a risk here. There’s no paparazzi around, no Kym Illman to try and sneak pictures of drivers’ wives and girlfriends without asking, and, except for dinner on Friday, they haven’t been anywhere public yet. Besides, he doesn’t even know if what they have qualifies as a relationship. Yes he likes her, very much, and yes, he wants to spend more time with her, but he’s known her for a grand total of ten days. In the end that’s what he tells Blake, “I’ve only just met her, B. Let’s take it easy, ok?”
“Ok,” Blake agrees with a curt nod that Daniel feels is more to please him than it is because Blake agrees with him. “Let me know if anything changes, ok?”
“Yep.”
Blake looks over to where Michael is standing then, a mischievous grin on his face, “Is there any way you’ll let me mess with Talzo a little longer? Tell him she’s your cousin or something? Make him freak out a little?”
Daniel lets out a honking laugh and pushes Blake back towards the fallen tree, “You’re the worst.”
“Yeah, but will you let me?”
“No.” Daniel shakes his head, “Not this time, mate.”
“Oh God,” Blake mutters then, flicking Daniel’s forehead, “you really like her.”
“I really do,” Daniel agrees easily enough.
It takes another hour but then the tree is cut up into what seem to be at least a hundred pieces and the fence is repaired and looking as good as new and so Daniel beams at his best friends, “Thanks guys. That was-”
“Don’t worry about it, mate,” both Blake and Michael say at the same time with an almost identical shrug.
Daniel throws his arm around her shoulders then and presses a kiss to her temple, “Ready to head back? Oscar must be getting worried what’s taking us so long.”
“Yeah,” she says as she leans into him. “I think we all deserve a warm shower and a cold beer.”
“Come on,” he says as he nods towards her truck, “I’ll drive.”
She takes Ellie from Michael and walks to the passenger’s seat, where he’s holding the door open for her. Once she’s seated, Ellie in her lap because it’s too much hassle to put her in the car seat, he closes the door and rounds the car to the driver’s side.
It’s a bumpy ride back to the farm, lots of fallen branches he hadn't noticed before littering Coopers Lane and so it takes them a good ten minutes to reach the house, both of them letting out a sigh of relief when he turns the engine off. Daniel turns in his seat and teases Ellie’s hair, “You’re a superstar, Miss Ellie.” He looks up at her then, “Just like your momma.”
“Thank you,” she says with a warm smile.
***
The warm water runs out when Blake is taking his shower and you can hear him curse all the way in the kitchen, drawing laughs from you and Michael, both of you already showered and changed into warm clothes already, working on putting some dinner together. Daniel’s in the living room, chatting to Granddad while he waits his turn for the shower, even though you’re afraid he’s going to have to wait a little longer now that the boiler has to fill itself up again first. Ellie’s in the kitchen with you, sitting in her high chair and watching your every move intently as she munches on a breadstick.
“So,” you start, drawing out the word as you turn towards Michael who’s on your left, cutting up some toast to go with the vegetable soup that’s almost ready, “Daniel tells me you guys work out every day from nine to twelve. Is that true?”
Michael nods, “Yeah.”
“Wow.”
“I know it sounds like a lot but we also include yoga and meditation and-”
‘Oh, ok.”
Michael throws you a cheeky smile then, “If you want to you could join us tomo-”
“Hahaha,” you reply with a fake laugh. “No.”
“No?”
“No.”
“Bummer,” he shoots back with a grin. “Might have been nice for Dan to have someone to show off to. It would definitely help with the whining.”
You can’t help but laugh but before you can say anything a rather bewildered looking Blake walks into the kitchen, his hair sticking up in every direction and a red colour on his cheeks that you know isn’t because he’s nice and toasty. “Here,” you tell him as you hand him a cup of coffee, “this should warm you up.”
He lets out a ragged breath, “Turns out cold water is really cold. Jeepers.”
“I’m so sorry,” you say, putting your hand on his arm. “I could make you a hot water bottle if you want? Help you warm up a little?”
“Nah, that’s ok. I’ll just sit here for a while,” he replies, nodding to a chair next to the wood stove that’s been burning ever since you got back.
“I’ll go see what Daniel and Granddad are up to,” you tell Blake and Michael, “I think the soup’s almost ready and the lasagne should be done soon too, so-”
“I’ll set the table,” Michael offers. He points at the kitchen cabinets, “Is it ok if I just open them and see what I can find?”
“I’m not hiding any secrets in my kitchen cabinets, Michael,” you shoot back with a laugh. “Have at it.” You find Granddad and Daniel gossiping about Mrs Mackenzie's supposed date with Mr Maxwell last week and so you gently flick Daniel’s shoulder, “Oi, you two. It sounds like Soap Opera’s Digest in here.”
“This is important information, ok,” Daniel shoots back with a grin as he looks up at you. “The last I heard Mrs Mackenzie was still dating Kevin Holmes from down the road, so-”
“That ended months ago,” Granddad adds, leaning closer to Daniel. “Apparently he ran off with Mrs Clement.”
“The dentist’s wife?” Daniel seems shocked, “Did their divorce go through already? That’s quick.”
Granddad shakes his head, looking awfully pleased with himself, “It didn’t.”
Daniel gasps, clutching his chain necklace for full effect, “No!”
“Yes,” Granddad nods. “I think old Kevin will have to find himself another dentist.”
“While this has all been very entertaining,” you interrupt with a hand on Daniel’s shoulder, to keep him from saying anything else, “I came to tell you that dinner’s almost ready.” You look at Daniel, “We can wait if you want to take a shower first, I think the boiler should be full in another fifteen minutes or so.”
“Nah,” Daniel shakes his head, “I’ll shower after. It’s fine. I’m not that cold anymore anyway.”
“Alright, let’s go eat then.”
Dinner is- It’s fun. Granddad’s sitting at the head of the table, with you, Ellie and Daniel on one side and Blake and Michael on the other. Blake and Granddad are discussing the Manchester United game from last week while Michael keeps making faces at Ellie, who’s giggles fill the kitchen at steady intervals, while Daniel keeps feeding her pieces of his lasagne.
By the time everyone’s plates are empty, Ellie’s giggles have turned to yawns and so you get up and pick her up out of her high chair, “I’ll go put this one to bed, it’s been a long day for her.”
Ellie’s not too tired to insist on saying goodnight to everyone and so she gets passed from Granddad to Blake to Michael to Daniel for a goodnight hug before she’s returned into your arms and Michael tells you they’ll take care of the dishes in the meantime.
“Come on, bub,” you tell her as you head upstairs. “Let’s go see if Mr Koala’s waiting for you.”
Ellie’s asleep before you even make it to her bedroom and you figure there’s no harm done in skipping brushing her teeth for once, instead gently lying her down in her cot, pressing a kiss to her forehead before you quietly whisper, “Goodnight my sweet girl. Momma loves you very much.”
When you get back downstairs the kitchen is spotless and you can see Blake drying the last of the dishes while Michael wipes the counter clean and then Daniel steps into view, “We’ll check up on the girls before we head home, ok?”
You start to protest, “Daniel-”
“Nope,” he counters with a smile “You stay here. I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
You smile at him, “Yep.”
Daniel waits until Blake and Michael have said their goodbyes and made it past him to the mud room before he takes a step forward and presses a soft kiss to your cheek, "I'll text you the address when I get home, ok?"
"You do that," you tell him, your voice barely above a whisper because God, you really want to kiss him.
***
“Watch out for that brown one,” Daniel tells Michael with a nod towards Betsy, “she bites.”
“Good to know, mate.”
Daniel chuckles, “The white one is alright, you can pet her if you want.”
“Yeah, nah, I’m good,” Michael shoots back with a grin, focusing instead of filling the feeder with the bucket of grains Daniel handed him earlier. He clears his throat then, “So tell me again how we ended up here? Offering to check up on some spooked Alpacas? You playing house with Oscar’s granddaughter wasn’t exactly on my bingo card for this year, mate.”
Daniel laughs, “Wasn’t on mine either to be honest, but-”
“But?”
“I don’t know,” Daniel offers with a shrug. “I like it.” He corrects himself then, “I like her. A lot. So-”
“Daniel,” Michael starts, hesitating a little then, which tells Daniel his best friend is going to say something serious and maybe important. “You know I’ve always got your best interest at heart, right?” Michael waits for Daniel to nod before he takes a deep breath and continues, “You’ve got a lot going on right now and I don’t know if this is-” He holds up his hand when Daniel wants to interrupt, “I’m worried it’s going to cloud your judgement, ok? I can tell you like her very much and I haven’t seen you this settled-” he air-quotes the word, “-in a long time but you’ve only known her for what? A week-and-a-half? You’ve been in this sport for much longer than that, don’t-”
“I won’t,” Daniel says, trying his hardest to keep his voice neutral and not make it sound like he’s defending himself. He knows Michael’s right, of course he does. After all, he came to the same conclusion earlier today. Yes, he likes her, and yes, he would like to see where this goes, but he also knows it wouldn’t be fair to her or himself to take that into consideration when it comes to his future in Formula One. He looks up at Michael then, “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, right?
“Maybe you should talk to her before you leave,” Michael offers with a kind smile. “Just to see where you both stand and to make sure you go into this with the same expectations, you know?”
“Yeah,” Daniel rubs his face. “Yeah, I should.”
Blake walks into the shed then, soaking wet and looking as miserable as ever, “So I checked the fence-.”
“Uhu,”
“-and it’s still standing.” Blake deadpans with a blank stare.
Daniel chuckles, “Thanks, mate. Let’s go home, eh?”

you wrote a single sentence and I already love cowboy Harry and I’m already in love 🤩
- 🐣
Okay but…
Harry working on their farm, he’s in tight wrangler jeans and a dirty white tee that’s sticking to him with sweat, leather boots on his feet.
His skin is golden from the longer hours in the sun, his hair long from a lack of will to go get it cut so he throws it up in a bun.
He’s currently fixing a broke slat in one of the older barns when his wife steps in, it’s disgusting hot out, and the humidity only makes it worse.
As soon as he spots her, his face lights up, turning off his drill, and wiping his hands on his jeans, “Hi, sweet pea. You look like a million dollars.”
YN rolls her eyes, her hair was thrown in a messy bun, a bare face, and a loose sundress - she also had an ice cold bottle of water for him.
“Thank you, just what I needed. Has to be one of the hottest days this summer,” Harry sighs, pulling up his shirt to wipe his forehead - giving her a peek of the cut of a vee trailing into his jeans before he’s taking the bottle, unscrewing the lid, and chugging it.
“My phone just alerted me,” YN says softly, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her skirt as she smiles coyly at him, “It’s time.”
Harry’s face twists in confusion for a moment before it dawns on him and a wide smile spreads across his face, “Then we got not time to waste, pea.”
He strides across the barn until he’s shutting the massive doors - to avoid an of the farmhands or grounds employees getting a eyeful.
“Gotta be quick though, right? I don’t want to be out workin’ all night. Want to be able to get home and give it to you again,” Harry murmurs as he leans down for a long kiss, his calloused hands rough against the soft skin of her cheek.
He doesn’t waste anymore time before he’s spinning her around and bending her over his workbench, flipping her dress up around her waist and groaning when he’s met with her bare cunt.
“You’re so fuckin’ hot, how’d I land you?” Harry rasps as he gets his belt and jeans undone, just pulling himself out instead of getting undressed.
He didn’t need any warm up, he was usually at least half hard the minute his wife was in the room.
“Honey, please,” YN whines impatiently as she feels his hands roams all over her ass, spreading her cheeks, and just admiring what his.
He rubs his tip through her folds, teasing at her wet entrance before pushing himself in slowly, filling her up to the brink until his balls are flush against her skin.
“Ooh,” She gasps when he begins to move, pounding into her as her nails dig into the wood in front of her in pleasure.
“Let me hear you, darlin’,” He encourages as his hands grip her waist tightly enough to bruises as he strokes at her spot, then he moves one to slip around her front to rub at her clit, “Come on me, come on my cock.”
“I-I’m going to, m’close,” YN mewls as his rhythm become more forceful, his fingers deliberate on her bud.
“Good girl, as soon as you do, m’gonna give you what you want,” Harry tells her as he begins to pant, it was fucking hot in the barn, “Gonna give you a baby. Have you nice and full of ‘em.”
“Yes yes,” She hisses as she falls of the edge, head dropping as she releases, her legs struggling to hold her up but Harry has a strong enough grip to support her.
“That’s it, fuck. How could I ever say no to you?” He huffs out as he slams inside and stills, coming in strong ropes and making sure he stays in for a few moments before he pulls out.
YN winces as she stands up, the unsavory feeling of it dripping down her thighs, and her hair’s matted to her forehead from the humidity.
Harry kisses her in between pants of catching their breath, his hand coming to massage her belly, “I love ovulation days. Gonna make you barefoot and pregnant, sugar.”
“Mm,” YN hums tiredly, “I’m going to go shower. Don’t be home to late or I’m locking the doors, you can sleep with the horses,” She teases with a twinkle in her eye.
“Wouldn’t dream of missing a night in bed with you, now get going. I’ll see you for dinner, sweet pea,” He pats her bum before going back to his work.

Could Wheel of Time characters survive Castle Dracula? (I saw the could your fave survive Castle Dracula vlog and submitted Mat then decided wait I want to do this myself). Also we're ignoring the ability to just portal yourself away for the purpose of this.
Rand: I mean yeah 100%, if it's late game he has sheer overwhelming firepower on top of having diagetic plot armor. Early game his plot armor and farm boy earnestness would probably carry him through (would take the crucifix, doesn't need to shave apparently, would explore, would survive the girlies if only by having Dracula show up at the right time, would choose to stay rather than face the wolves, could survive the climb down (see Shadar Logoth, the Caemlyn Palace, general ta'averen stuff). This is basically a matter of how far has he progressed in becoming a war machine as to whether Dracula gets incinerated or not.
Mat: Early game (pre-dagger healing) absolutely not, he's too paranoid, Dracula would eat him day 1. Post dagger healing, and especially post Rhuidean, yeah he survives. He'll take the crucifix (bitchily), play Scheherezade (bitchily), survive the girlies (bitchily) if only because of luck, would continue to play to his outs and choose not to face the wolves, and I do not believe a cliff would kill him.
Perrin: oh this one's funny. Perrin survives, but that's because he's a wolf and Dracula just goes 'sweet, free minion' and mind controls him.
Nynaeve: One way or another, yes. Her whole thing is pulling bullshit out of her ass whenever she's in a situation that should be all rights get her killed. She's arguably more ta'averen then the ta'averen when it comes to surviving near death experiences. She tugs her braid at Dracula when the crying baby shows up, gets furious, and evaporates them with her mind. Or Lan shows up for no reason. Or if it's late game Nynaeve she decides to learn to fix vampirism and just does it.
Egwene: at no point in the series would Egwene survive Castle Dracula except possibly through overwhelming firepower. Her go to method of surviving imprisonment is to out stubborn them, which works because the people who capture her want her alive. Dracula does not care. She would not give him what he wants reaction wise so she dies.
Moraine: 50/50, but if she survives it's through killing Dracula. She's too competent, even if she tries to play along and appease it'd be too obviously practiced and Dracula would go for the throat. It depends how much she knows about what she's walking into and whether her standard precautions see her through long enough to figure it out.
Lan: Lan dies. He's a badass but he's still human and his points are optimized for combat not social combat.
Thom Merrilin: This is actually the toughest call I have. He's specifically a spy/actor/assassin so I guess it depends on how good he is at dissembling. However, he also is very good at mysteriously surviving off screen events so. Jury is out
Elayne: Dies. She's not making it out of this one. She's not even got the same level of brute force Egwene gets to save herself.
Aviendha: probably dies, but I think she has a chance to fight her way free either through Dracula and the girlies or through the wolves.
Bonus Min: gets vampirized and is now Dracula's personal seer.

What if the assassins ended up in Monster Hunter World where you fight dinosaurs?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxv9AM397Y8&pp=ygUVTW9uc3RlciBodW50ZXIgd29ybGQg
Speaking of Monster Hunter World, here’s an idea of which MonHun monster Desmond could be reincarnated to and an idea of Desmond being reborn as a Zinogre.
Now, as for how the Assassins would react if they were placed in Monster Hunter World? Primarily, they would realize that they’re all in the same boat and start helping one another, naturally forming a Brotherhood of some kind. Because of their legendary status, Altaïr and Ezio would be pushed into becoming the mentors (with Desmond in the background, trying to push for Ratonhnhaké:ton to be included and Ratonhnhaké:ton going “stop, Desmond, I don’t want to lead anyone. Please, Desmond, this is embarrassing.”).
Bayek doesn’t even throw his name in the ring because he wants to see how the Hidden Ones, oh, right, Assassin Brotherhood would fare and he was curious what kind of mentors these supposed legendary mentors are.
They’d be seen as a separate guild of some kind that would specialize in ambushes and traps. There are rumors that they take care of… ‘bad’ people but that’s just a rumor since everyone is too busy fighting monsters and fortifying their bases to actually start fighting with one another.
Of course, the Assassins would definitely hunt monsters together too and their hidden blade is rarely used.
As for their weapons, they knew they needed to use weapons made specifically to battle these monsters as it would simply be more time, material and cost efficient.
Preliminary thoughts of what weapons each Assassin would go for (I only used weapons that can be found in MonHun World since this ask did specify MonHun World):
Altaïr: Insect Glaive mainly for mobility and aerial combat. He wanted to try one of the ‘stranger’ weapon mechanic or so he says. Ezio and Desmond believes he just wants to fly and strike monsters from high above. He has glaives for every weakness and kinsects for every situation. He is one of their leading researchers though so the materials for his equipment usually falls into being Desmond’s responsibility since he’s mostly on the field (in exchange, Desmond gets priority for any crafting requests he may have)
Ezio: Gunlance (he saw the gun and wanted to try it out. It was very, very different from the hidden blade and, at the point, he’s just too stubborn to try any other weapon and mastered this one)
Ratonhnhaké:ton: Bow (he saw Altaïr, Ezio and Desmond picking melee option and decided that these people need a long range support and he has already mastered the bow so it was easy for him understand how bows in this world works. Since he already mastered the bow, he’s been trying out the light bowgun for something different)
Desmond: Hunting Horn (Actually went for Long Sword at first but after talking to more veteran hunters, he switched to a Hunting Horn to provide support instead. Since any teams he goes with are all attackers, he figured providing them with support would be better than being an attacker as well. It’s because he’s a support hunter that a lot of hunters want to team up with him, making him regularly go on the field… and be Altaïr’s mat farmer)
Edward: Dual Blades (He was used to dual wielding and dual blades in this world were even lighter than his own. He does miss his pistols though. Usually hunts with Ratonhnhaké:ton but also sometimes hunt with the Frye twins and Arno whenever they can’t get Desmond to come with them)
Arno: Heavy Bowgun (He gravitated towards Jacob and Evie early on, saw that they tend to get too focused when they’re in combat and went for a long range weapon that can be used as support to keep an eye on the entire battlefield. He has a lot of healing bullets. He’s also Altaïr’s number one customer because Altaïr crafts bullets for him on a discounted price. In exchange, he and his team usually gets roped into helping Desmond farm mats for Altaïr whenever Desmond’s usual team is busy)
Jacob: Switch Axe (switching looked cool so he tried it out. He and Evie realized they both picked weapon that could switch forms and they’re too stubborn to change now because it felt like a defeat on whoever would switch first. He does enjoy switching midcombo a lot)
Evie: Charge Blade (She liked how it could be a sword and shield or an axe. She mostly stay in sword and axe form and only changes to the axe form when it’s charged up and she sees an opening)
Bayek: Sword and Shield (he knew how to use both and he’s pretty much an all rounder who plays more of a supporting sub-dps role to the hard hitters, sometimes even getting aggro so the others could fall back. Always a reliable person to have in a hunting party.)

Cowboy | Mathew Barzal
you meet Mat at the Calgary Stampede wc: 1.5k ps. I wish this was better :(
There were many places you did not expect to visit for your two week trip to Calgary but a rodeo never even crossed your mind as a possibility.
Growing up in the Bronx you always associated rodeo’s, horse races, farming, etc. to the south. You had of course heard of all these things in school and occasionally saw photos on the internet but it never occurred to you that you would ever personally experience things that you equated with the southern american lifestyle.
Hence why you’re staring at your best friend like she has three heads even though she just announced the two of you were going to the Calgary Stampede instead.
“What am I even supposed to wear to a rodeo?” you ask and she laughs at your expression making a ridiculous smile land on your lips.
You never would have picked out this activity by yourself but honestly you were always down to try anything once. Besides, Callie promised for hot guys to be in attendance.
“Cute but comfy,” she answers, heading over to her own closet to sift through her options.
You hadn’t seen your best friend Callie in over a year and you had been planning this two week vacation at her home in Canada for ages now. You missed her dearly the entire time the two of you were apart and you were beyond glad to be with her now.
As she looks through her clothes, you head over to your suitcase and begin to yank things out of your bag. You decide on a pair of light wash cut off jean shorts, a cropped graphic tee with tennis rackets crossed on the front and your favorite necklace.
“Should I wear gross shoes?” you ask, turning to face your friend as you fasten your necklace.
“Nah, you can borrow my cowboy boots.”
“Your what?”
You and Callie get dropped off by the uber a block away from the stadium and the unusually hot Calgary sun beats down on your back as you walk. The street is crowded, cowboy boots clack against the sidewalk and the smell of fried food and hay greet your nose.
“Why are we here again?” you ask, trying so hard not to complain but you were seriously beginning to question how your best friend decided to attend this event.
“Because of this,” she says, holding a finger up to you and you tilt your head in confusion but watch her next movement regardless.
She strides forward, bumping into the man ahead of her and he turns with a concerned look on his face.
“I’m so sorry!” she exclaims and you snicker upon realizing what she’s actually doing.
“No need to be sorry darling, the fault is all mine,” the handsome man replies to your friend, tipping his hat to her before catching back up to his group.
“Oh I definitely get it now,” you say when Callie falls back into step with you.
“Exactly.”
The two of you finally get inside, the place swarming with people and you’re slightly overwhelmed by all of the activity happening around you.  You try to keep track of Callie as you walk through but when someone cuts in front of you and you’re told to wait as workers pass by, your best friend is nowhere in sight.
You look around frantically, finding yourself backing up towards a wall in hopes you can grab your phone and call Callie but end up bumping into a wall of a human instead.
‘Woah,” a deep voice says and you turn to meet a pair of soft brown eyes that makes your stomach swoop.
Mat had barely been paying attention  to anyone else as he made his way through the giant building. He was in part trying not to get lost and part interested in everything around him. That is until he spots a girl, wandering the crowd who looks lost and nervous.
He instinctively heads her way, planning to see if she needs any help when her side meets his chest in an awkward movement. His hockey skills take over, his arm moving from the light hold around your waist to your arm.
She had to be the most beautiful girl in the entire place, her stunning eyes and soft expression is all Mat can focus on as his heart speeds up faster than when he’s on a breakaway.
The panic in your eyes must be palpable because the man takes your arm softly and pulls you out of the way of foot traffic.
“You okay?” he asks and you start to look around praying you can somehow find Callie in the sea of people passing by.
“Yeah I just lost my friend and I’ve never been here before,” you admit shyly.
“I’ve never been here either,” the older boy admits and for the first time since bumping into him you finally take a real look at him.
He’s easily the most attractive man you have ever seen and you’re shocked by his admission considering his dress. He’s clad in a black t-shirt, loose black jeans, white sneakers, and a black cowboy hat to top it all off. Your heart skips a beat when his eyes meet yours again and you can’t help the smile on your lips.
“Did your friend drag you along as well?” you ask, your nerves fading as you continue to talk.
“Half dragged and half intrigue on my part.”
“Sounds just like me.”
“So, your friend?” he asks and your mouth drops open in remembrance.
You dig your phone out of your back pocket and dial Callie’s number, relief flooding your veins when she answers on the first ring. You exchange quick words and you swear it’s only seconds later when she finds you.
“Oh thank god,” she says, pulling you into a hug. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“And this is why I told you to make sure I'm still behind you.”
She brushes you off with the wave of your hand and you roll your eyes. Callie takes this moment to notice the boy next to you and she raises her eyebrows at you expectantly.
Mat had instinctively taken a step back since your friend had come to get you and he finds himself frowning at the idea that this might be the end of your interaction with each other.
“Who is this?”
“Oh! This is,” you start to say but fall flat when you look over at the boy again. “I never got your name.”
“Mat,” he supplies and you nod.
“He helped pull me out of the crowd when I lost you,” you tell Callie and she nods approvingly.
“Ready to go? The first round is about to start,” she tells you and you nod.
“Wait!” Mat calls when you start to walk away. “Where are you guys sitting?”
You’re starting to think the universe has certain plans for you when Mat tells you that he and his friend are sitting in the row directly in front of you and Callie. The four of you head in the right direction, Mat’s friend falling into step with Callie and the two chat away happily about the Calgary Stampede.
“So, where are you from?” Mat asks.
“New York.”
“Seriously?” he asks his mouth gaping open at you.
“Bronx born and raised. I’m here visiting Callie for two weeks.”
“Shit I live on Long Island.”
“Small fucking world,” you respond grinning.
When you get to your seats, Callie pulls you to the side and you look at her in confusion.
“Would it be okay if I sat with Alex and you sit with Mat?”
You grin ridiculously wide, knowing Callie and Alex have been hitting it off and she rolls her eyes at your expression.
“Ooh someone has a crush,” you say, wiggling your finger at her and she shoves you away and heads to the seat next to Alex.
“Hey stranger,” Mat grins when you sit down next to him and you can’t help the smile on your lips.
You had known Mat for approximately thirty minutes and yet it has already felt like a lifetime. You both had an incredible amount in common and you had never felt so at ease with someone in your life.
“So,” you begin and Mat turns to look at you. “Where’s the cowboy hat from?”
“Alex,” he answers, gesturing to his friend in front of him.
“Hmm,” you muse, your eyes running over the hat again.
You reach up, lifting the hat from his head and slipping it onto your head. You push your hair to the front, fixing it so it looks good underneath the wide brim. When you look over at Mat again, there’s a sly smirk resting on his lips. His arm comes up to rest on the back of your chair and his touch sends shivers down your spine.
“Looks good on you darling,” Mat drawls and your heart stops, skips, and speeds up all in a matter of seconds.
“Hey (y/n),” Callie says but halts when she sees you.
“Yeah?” you ask, confused at her and Alex’s matching expression.
“You know what they say,” Alex says.
“Save a horse, ride a cowboy.”

A ref sheet for Joey and their soul horse Summerqueen
Self insert oc go brrr
Also I really cannot wait for the name change update. I don't mind their name being Joey, it just doesn't fit them imo, but it's the closest alternative I could think of from "Jennifer"
HURRAY!!! You pushed a button, here's Joey's backstory
Joey grew up in a small town north of Jorvik City. They often misbehaved or had outbursts at school due to them not being a particularly fast learner and having a hard time connecting with their peers - being bullied for their strange behaviors and odd obsessions with horses. Even as horses are far more common in Jorvik in other parts of the world, it was all Joey ever really cared to talk about.
Joey was never given much time or care by their parents. They never really helped them with their school work, or gave guidance for dealing with squabbles at school other than to "give it back to them" and to "toughen up." Eventually, Joey ended up being sent to visit the school counselor, or the principal, nearly every school day due to disruptions in class, failing grades, and aggressive behaviors towards other students.
This eventually led to a conference with Joey's parents to discuss their behavior, and after repeated meetings, the school counselor suggested therapy riding for over the summer break.
"It's very grounding for people who do therapy ridding," the school counselor would explain, "it may do Jennifer some good to spend time in an environment with people who will hopefully understand her, and Aideen knows horses are all she talks about."
Eventually, their parents agreed, as Joey's emotions were far too much for them to handle, and they were sent off to Moorland over the summer.
Summerqueen lived in a large weedy pasture on a run-down old farm with her herd. She was born, raised, and lived her whole life in this pasture - only ever leaving when the old farmers' grandkids came around to ride them up and down the road every once in a while.
Now that the farmer was too old to ride, and his grandchildren had moved on, Summerqueen and her herd were more or less abandoned in the field; save for when the farmer would roll out a bale of hay. Their manes and tails had become matted, and their coats were left dusted in dirt.
One day, a man and his young son came driving down the road to the farm. When they stepped out of their truck, the boy was shaking his father by the sleeve, practically jumping and pointing at a sheet of paper and then out to the mare, insisting his father needed to get this horse. They approached the old farmer, inquiring about the bay mare in his field and asking if he'd be willing to lease her out to them. The farmer, skeptical of their offer for a raggedy horse, eventually agreed after their insistence.
Joey had ridden horses before. When they were 8 years old, they attended a day camp where they had learned how to ride. They would go on trail rides a couple of times each summer since then. They were by no means a good at riding, but they knew enough to get by on a horse. Now, at the age of 12, they stood in an enclosed courtyard. The stable owner held a clip board, going over that they were here for therapy ridding to help with their unstable emotions and that they would be responsible for the care of the horse being lended to them.
As he finished going over their responsibilities and rules, his son led the bay mare into the courtyard. He seemed almost as excited and relieved as Joey did when fianlly introduced to Summerqueen. The mare was groomed over well enough to safely equip her with tack.
"Parting through and grooming out those matted locks will be a good bonding experience for the two of you," the stable owner explained. Joey wouldn't mind the work. All they cared about was that their world finally felt like it made sense.
All the interests they were told were annoying and obsessive, the constant daydreaming of being carried by a swift steed, the feeling of never truly belonging - it all washed away as they felt their horses muzzle breathe in the scent of her rider from their out reached hand and finally greeting eachother for the very first time.
Tumblr media
After the first summer was over it felt like their heart was being torn out. They begged and pleaded to be allowed to return next summer, and only found the strength in themself to carry on through the winter when their parents agreed to send them back once the school year was finished. During their second summer there, they became friends with Alex Cloudmill. She didn't have a horse at the camp and didn't even live in the area as she only came down to visit every once in a while, but the two grew close over shared hardships.
By the time the third summer rolled around, Joey decided they were not going to return home. They couldn't bear it to be somewhere they didn't feel they belonged anymore. After arguing with their parents to remain in Moorland year round, they gave in and let them stay, telling them they were off on their own now and decided it was better to have almost no part in what Joey does after failing to rein them in.
Joey would stay in spare rooms at Moorland if they were available, otherwise staying in the hayloft of their barn. The Moorlands never left them uncared for and would remind them they were grateful for the extra help they gave during the winter. And yes, they did still attend school, and thankfully, with less head butting from other students.
As they entered high school, Alex would tell Joey about how she had discovered she was a soul rider, along with some other friends she had made. Alex would tell Joey about the dangerous adventures they had gone through together, the great evils they would defeat, and they magic they had discovered inside themselves. And not long after, the same magic Joey would find in themself too.
After revealing they were connected to all four circles, Elizabeth would take Joey under her wing to teach them more about this magic. While Joey began training and working more towards the goal of the soul riders and druids, they moved in with Elizabeth until they were old enough to go out on their own.
Joey now works as a camp counselor at Moorland during the summer and cares for trail horses as they take time off from their wilderness adventures during the winter. Alongside that, they also provide ridding lessons to new riders, training horses, and racing in championships when they have the time. They definitely have their hands full, but they wouldn't want it any other way.
While both Joey and Summerqueen are connected to all four circles, they do have their own preferences for what circles they work with the most. Joey is most connected to the lightning circle, and during the Catherine's Memories quest line became closer to the moon circle while practicing its magic with Linda. Summerqueen is most connected with the star circle as she helped Joey heal their emotions and build up their confidence when they first arrived at Moorland and later became closer connected to the sun circle.
Aaaaaaand END SCENE

so lately i've been curing my brainrot by listening to audiobooks while i crochet, the result being that i have gotten really, really into the wheel of time (which i've previously bounced off of like, 3 separate times) and also been tweeting about it. anyway i have finished the first book and simply must scream into the void about it
jesus, okay, where do i even begin. let's talk about characters
so i KNEW that mat was gonna be The Character Of All Time going right in, i am self-aware enough about what kinds of blorbos i enjoy (read: cocky roguish guy who is actually a sopping wet cat of a man and uses snark to obscure deep-seated angst and/or doubt in himself, his identity, and his goodness). and i do have an affection for mat at this point
although ngl it kind of totally went over my head when i last tried to read these books that he is also? kind of a dick this early on? though to be fair he was having his soul eaten by an evil dagger for like, two-thirds of the book
that being said. what i did NOT expect was for the dark horse surprise contenders for Character Of All Time to be nynaeve and rand
nynaeve is literally the funniest, pettiest bitch ever and i love her SO MUCH. literally what if you were a preternaturally gifted healer and given a position of authority at a very young age so you had a complex about it, but that complex manifests itself as a bullheaded stubborn drive to Take Care Of Your People, and you are ready to throw hands with every magic lady Jedi on the way because you are fueled by Pure Unadulterated Spite at all times
every time she'd try to start a catty slap fight with moiraine and moiraine would just, like, sip her tea unbothered? now THAT'S comedy
sidenote, dear lord do these characters drink a lot of tea. do they have coffee in this nebula. do they have new world crops. i feel like someone must have mentioned potatoes. where was i
oh my god, rand. RAND. literally WHAT IF you were a farmboy from the ass-end of nowhere and you get pulled into this fantastical adventure like a hero from legend, but you spend 700 pages having all of your assumptions about the world and yourself systemically questioned and tested and broken down. and the whole time you're holding onto the hope of going home and going back to the way things were, until you experience the crushing weight of the Hero's Journey and the fact that you can never really go home (read: go back to the simple life and the way things used to be) ever again
EXCEPT!!! THAT THERE IS ALSO WONDER AND EXCITEMENT AND CURIOSITY TOO!!! like, obviously i loved all the times that rand and the other farm kids are agog seeing different parts of the world (especially the cities -- dude, i LOVE the setup for caemlyn) but literally one of my favorite scenes was when rand is on the spray sitting at the top of the mast and he just starts laughing aloud for the freedom and joy of it all. the journey will be long and terrible and arduous but it's so important to show that there are bright moments on the way too. i'm going to puke
also there's a few moments between rand and the dark one (ba'alzamon? bro idk how anything is spelled) that were so *chef's kiss*, like rand telling him "i belong to myself" or in their big fight when he screams that he'll never be a hound for the dark one. more generally i love the emphasis placed on the importance and power of people taking a stand, even if they know it's futile. ESPECIALLY if they know it's futile. (there was this line from moiraine like "the wheel weaves as the wheel wills, but i refuse to believe it weaves an end to all hope". waugh)
also i know the reveal that rand can channel was telegraphed from a mile away but i ain't even mad about it because i feel like the setup was done so nicely. you get a scene of moiraine explaining to nynaeve about how channeling feels the first time you do it (i.e. you have the greatest need you've ever known, then a week later your body has a delayed reaction that feels like a weird flu), you get rand and mat escaping whitebridge via improbable lightning strikes, then you get rand coming down with a weird flu. like, idk, i like it when creators set up dominoes and i as a reader can SEE the dominoes getting set up and i get to go like, hoohoohoo, can't wait for those to get knocked down!
unsurprisingly since rand and nynaeve are my two favs i also am enamored with their dynamic. maybe it's because you're in rand's head the most in this book, and so it's the closest you as a reader are to seeing a straightforward platonic relationship between a male and female character? but okay like, listen. nynaeve is the FIRST PERSON (maybe the only person rn??) rand shares his fears with re: tam not being his dad and him not knowing who he is. and nynaeve immediately reassures him that it doesn't matter, she saw tam and kari with him and she KNOWS they loved him like any father and mother
or like, the scene when rand overhears lan and nynaeve having their whole Dramatic Star-Crossed Romance (which is like, cool, but also, can't wait for lan to get over his TTRPG Tragic Backstory [affectionate] and kiss her already), and the chapter ends with a line like "Rand closed his eyes. He did not think the Wisdom would like it if he saw her cry." good GOD!
how old are these kids supposed to be anyway. like i know nynaeve is older by a few years and she's...24? so are the rest 18-20ish? oh my god you guys, they're KIDS
i'm sure i will have more thoughts about the other characters as these books progress and shit continues to pop off and Get Funky (especially relevant vis a vis perrin going full wolf mode and egwene learning how to be an aes sedai). also i love how often it's repeated that people from the two rivers are The Most Stubborn People Alive, and how rand holds onto that as part of his identity (re: envisioning hardy two rivers soil)
now let us talk about the world because OH MY GOD
one of the things that definitely stuck with me was the secret hidden lore re: "this is actually post-post-post apocalyptic earth", cf. thom telling stories about "lenn flying to the skies in an eagle made of fire" and "salya walking among the stars", because it is so fucking insane as a concept and jordan does it REALLY WELL, in the sense that any references to "our" earth are so oblique and indirect that they're barely comprehensible, which is as it should be if these books take place a whole two ages later
but it's also such a perfect excuse/reason to deliberately echo and make homage to myths and stories that we as readers are familiar with, the most obvious being the legend of artur hawkwing (and also half of our main cast having arthurian-esque names). something something george lucas saying that it's like poetry, it rhymes
the part that really dropped me flat on my ass though was when perrin and egwene and elyas are leaving the tinkers and elyas LITERALLY recites anglican catechism at them ("as it once was, so shall it ever be, world without end"), reader i screamed
that being said. i do kind of wish there was more Weird Religion Bullshit. i mean it makes sense that the cosmology and people's theological beliefs are pretty universal (given that it's a Canonical Big Deal Historical Event that the embodiment of evil punched a hole in reality and made magic evil and fucked up for men forever), but like. where is the variety! where is the spice! where are the religious freaks! give me religious freaks!!!
however this is ameliorated by the fantastic variety in cultures/societies/stories, and also the overarching theme of "the world has moved on from what it once was". like, everything with loial (also strong contender for Supporting Character Of All Time) talking about the groves and how different the world is from what he'd read about in the stedding! the entire scene with the green man (which still makes me feel completely fucking insane, just btw)! perrin and egwene at the ruined statue of artur hawkwing! moiraine telling the people of emond's field about manetheren! WHEWWWWWWWWWW
like, it really does give you this sense of history and loss. but also i hope that as the books go on it gets more into, like, "okay, the world has moved on and nothing will ever be as it once was. so what are we going to do with the world we have? how are we going to keep it safe and let it grow?"
sidenote: the tragedy of listening to the audiobooks is that i can't flip back to look at the map or the glossary if i start getting a little lost 😭 help i just want to get everything Right in my head
i also feel like jordan does a fantastic job of like...getting the reader further and further into the more fantastical or impactful elements of the world step by careful step and pacing out how he escalates the characters' importance to the world. does this make any sense.
like, baerlon -> whitebridge -> caemlyn is a steady stepwise escalation in Experiencing A City. and the one-two-three combo of loial explaining ta'veren to rand + rand overhearing a farmer gossip about queen morgase and her family + the repeated references to seeing the false dragon in caemlyn all leads perfectly into rand falling into the garden and the entire chapter with elayne and gawyn and morgase. (side note: this chapter was fucking incredible, good god i am obsessed with royal political bullshit.) OR having all these moments of the characters with moiraine to establish her nature, then providing an immediate contrast with the introduction of elaida as the "other" aes sedai. DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL. it's dominoes, baby
okay i have a few other miscellaneous thoughts
i fucking love how unapologetically trope-y these books are. it is so crunchy. not just vis a vis the hero's journey, but also, like, all the repeated motifs? spooky symbolic dream sequences? excerpts from in-universe writings and poetry? Foreshadowing Via Fortune-Telling? chef's kiss
also, dude, i love that robert jordan really dropped all of the fucking symbols for the next who knows how many books into three paragraphs via min. he knew the girlies would go crazy for this. AND HE WAS RIGHT
same goes for the whole concept of ta'veren, like i know on the surface it's kind of a goofy concept that you are Assigned Main Character At Birth by the wheel/the pattern, but also like. this man knew people on tumblr would be obsessing over characters doomed/haunted by narratives 30 years after these books were published. his third eye was OPEN
in a bizarre way so much of the story elements and pacing feels like a d&d campaign. mat is the rogue who picks up stuff he really shouldn't. perrin is a barbarian that accidentally took a level in druid. lan is the dm's npc blorbo with the intricately detailed tragic backstory that gets dumped on the players all at once (this is affectionate i swear). do you see what i'm saying
hi i love these books a lot already and i can't wait for them to get even more insane. thanks 4 ur time

🔞 In Darkness I Found You 🔞
Tumblr media
Synopsis: In which alpha Hobi finds a severely injured omega in his front yard during a storm and discovers the horrible path that lead him to Hobi in the first place
Tags: Mentions of rape, forced pregnancy, & restraints
Hobi picked up his head from what he was doing on the computer when the flood light went on in the front yard. It was pouring rain outside & the only thing that could possibly set it off was something large moving.
“Tae did you leave one of the dogs out?” he yelled down the stairs to his younger brother.
“No, they’re right here!” Tae yelled back. Hobi closed his laptop and went downstairs.
“Didn’t you see the light go off?” he asked.
“It’s probably just a deer or something,” Tae replied clearly unwilling to go outside and check. They lived on a horse farm out in the country with their nearest neighbors 6 miles away.
“Fine, I’ll check,” Hobi pulled on his boots and rain jacket. The downside of having 2 Alphas living in the same house was little tasks like checking for possible intruders were deadlocked longer than they should’ve been. The light had gone out by the time Hobi got out there. It was raining so hard that he could barely see in front of him. The light went back on and he smelled it before he saw it.
There was a person collapsed in the grass, specifically an Omega in severe distress. The smell almost knocked him over. He jogged over and scooped up the young male. He was still alive, but even in the darkness of the storm, Hobi could tell he was in bad shape.
“Tae, open the door!” he yelled. The irritated look on his brother’s face disappeared when he saw the Omega in Hobi’s arms.
“Put him in the bathroom,” Tae said and went to get his bag. He was a nurse and Hobi was a vet, so this Omega had lost his energy in the best yard for miles. Hobi lied him down on the bath mat and finally got a good look at him. He was muddy from where he’d fallen. His clothes were old and worn out. He was thin, but the type of thin where he’d been fed one step above what he needed to survive. Hobi thought he saw blood in between his legs. He may have just given birth. But an Omega wouldn’t leave his newborn pup behind. Would he? Hobi didn’t know much about Omegas other than the ones Tae told him about from the hospital. Neither he nor Tae had considered taking mates. They were content with their jobs, animals, and sniping at each other like siblings do, especially 2 Alpha siblings. The Omega looked up at Hobi. He was clearly confused and exhausted.
“It’s okay. We’re going to help you,” Hobi reassured him. “My name is Hobi.”
He tried to speak, but nothing came out.
“That’s okay, I’ll learn your name soon enough,” Hobi smiled at him. He had no idea why he was smiling at him. Maybe because it reassured him, too. He’d spent years working with skittish horses and it was serving him well now.
“Okay, let's get a look at you,” Tae said. As he went to check the Omega’s breathing with his stethoscope, the Omega suddenly got wild eyed and started whining. He tried to get away, but was too weak to do more than a half roll. Hobi looped his arm under the Omega’s arms & pulled him up into sitting position. He sat behind him bolstering the Omega’s back against his chest.
“He’s not going to hurt you. This is my brother Tae. He’s going to make sure you didn’t hurt yourself when you fell. Nod if you understand me,” Hobi said. The Omega nodded against Hobi’s chest.
“We’re gonna have to clean him up, too,” Tae said. “Though I think I know what’s going on here.”
“What?” Hobi asked. Tae looked at the Omega.
“Have you been pregnant before?” he asked.
The Omega nodded.
“More than 3 times since you presented?” Tae continued.
The Omega nodded again.
“He’s a Breeder,” Tae sighed.
“Isn’t that illegal?” Hobi asked.
“Very,” Tae confirmed.
“I know you won’t like this, but once we get you cleaned up I’m going to have to examine you. Since you were bleeding I want to make sure you won’t get an infection. Okay?” Tae said to the Omega. He nodded.
“I’ll help get you washed up,” Hobi said. The Omega started to shake a little and smell like fear. “I’m not going to do that to you. I’m just going to clean you up so Tae can make sure you’re okay.” The Omega stopped shaking, but the scent of fear stayed.
“I’ll be outside,” Tae said. Hobi started to fill the tub. He consistently soothed him like he did with the horses while he helped him get undressed and in the tub. As the mud washed off, Hobi noticed scars on his wrists and ankles from being tied up. If he really was a Breeder, that wasn’t a surprise. Omegas with desirable traits, such as a certain eye color or body type, were allegedly paid to mate with Alphas and produce equally desirable pups. The reality of the situation was they were kept as hostages and almost constantly pregnant. The practice had been outlawed decades ago. The fact that this Omega was showing obvious signs of being a Breeder meant one of their neighbors was engaging in one hell of a sketchy stream of income.
“I’m going to go get Tae now. Will you be okay in here for a minute by yourself?” Hobi asked as he drained the tub and helped the Omega out into a towel. He nodded. Hobi helped him towel off, careful to avoid his crotch and any indication he might be interested in knotting him, then sat him back on the floor against the wall. “I’ll get some clean clothes for you, too. They’ll smell like Alpha, but they’ll at least be dry.” The look in the Omega’s eyes was grateful. The smell of fear had dissipated. This was probably the first time he’d been treated with any kindness in a long time.
Hobi got Tae and the Omega started to look suspicious again. Two Alphas in the room was obviously one too many for him.
“I’ll be as quick as I can. I just need to make sure nothing is going to get infected,” Tae told him. The Omega looked at Hobi.
“Do you want me to help you sit again?” Hobi asked. The omega nodded.
“Okay. He’s going to have to examine why you had blood on your pants. He isn’t going to knot you. He just needs to check,” Hobi sat behind the Omega again as he reluctantly spread his legs. Tae put on gloves and the Omega started to whine and shake. He’d definitely been a Breeder and only had negative experiences with medical professionals. They always took his pups away.
“Breathe. I promise he won’t hurt you,” Hobi scratched the Omega’s head. He was grooming an Omega he’d found half dead in his front yard 2 hours ago. What the hell was going on with him?
“There’s still a pup in there. It’s not very big, but it’s there. I think he miscarried one, but not the other,” Tae said after he finished palpating the Omega’s abdomen. The Omega looked at him in surprise.
“How far do you think?” Hobi asked.
“Three months, maybe? I doubt he’ll show anytime soon with one this small,” Tae said. “There’s still a risk he’ll lose this one, too. We can’t let him move around too much and we definitely need to get him fed properly soon.”
“Let’s get you dressed and get you in bed. Okay?” Hobi said. The Omega nodded still watching Tae closely.
“I’ll get him some water and soup or something,” Tae said.
“I’ll put him in the guest room. That should smell slightly less like Alpha,” Hobi said. Once he got the Omega dressed in a pair of his old sweatpants and tee shirt, he picked him up again and carried him to the guest bedroom. They rarely used it because they rarely had guests.
“Here we go. Nice and cozy,” Hobi said.
“Yoongi,” the Omega finally found his voice. “I’m Yoongi.”
“Nice to meet you, Yoongi,” Hobi smiled at him. Yoongi put Hobi’s hand on his belly.
“This is pup number 10,” he said.
“Hi pup number 10,” Hobi said. His gut jerked at the realization that Yoongi had birthed or lost 9 pups since he presented. This would be the first pup he was allowed to keep.
“How old are you?” Hobi asked.
“I think I’m 25,” Yoongi replied.
“You think?” Hobi was confused.
“What year is it?” Yoongi asked.
“2019,” Hobi replied.
“Then I’m 25,” he replied. If he’d been held captive then he’d have no clue how much time had passed other than roughly how long he’d been pregnant.
“I have water and chicken noodle soup,” Tae said, coming into the room with a tray. “I also found some vitamins. They aren’t prenatal, but they’ll do until I can get some.”
Yoongi let out a whine.
“I know you’re scared, but he’s not gonna take your pup or hurt you. Right Tae?” Hobi looked at his brother.
“Nope,” Tae said as he put down the tray on the nightstand. “I’m going to make sure you and the pup are nice and healthy. So you can keep a healthy, happy pup.”
“You won’t take my pup?” Yoongi put his hand over his belly.
“No, I won’t take your pup,” Tae reassured him. “This one is yours.”
Yoongi looked at Hobi.
“The pup is yours.  We won’t take it from you,” he said.
“Then why are you being nice to me?” Yoongi questioned.
“Because you’re a person who deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. You’re not a pup factory,” Hobi replied. Tae nodded in agreement. Yoongi didn’t look convinced. “Let’s at least get some dinner in you. You both need to eat.”
“Yell if you need me,” Tae said and left. Hobi handed him the water and he drank it in almost one gulp.
“Looks like you need a refill.” Hobi smiled.
“Guess I was thirstier than I thought,” Yoongi said. By the time he finished the soup, took the vitamin, and finished 2 more glasses of water, it was almost midnight.
“Think you can sleep?” Hobi asked.
“I am tired,” Yoongi said.
“My room is right next door if you need anything, though Tae probably won’t want you getting up,” Hobi said.
“You can stay,” Yoongi said.
“You’re not afraid of me?” Hobi asked.
“You smell...safe,” Yoongi said, choosing the words carefully.
“Then I guess I’ll change and be right back,” Hobi said. As he changed into his pajamas, he thought about what Yoongi had said. Did Yoongi only feel that way because Hobi picked him up in the pouring rain from the mud? Was he only uneasy around Tae because Tae reminded him of the doctors who took his pups away? Or was it something else? Hobi had unconsciously started grooming him to keep him calm while Tae was examining him. He wasn’t his mate. He barely knew him. He’d put Hobi’s hand on his belly, his most vulnerable place. He seemed to trust Hobi. They needed him to trust at least one of them if they were going to get him and the pup healthy. It wasn’t more than that. It couldn’t be.
Yoongi had dozed off sitting up when Hobi came back into the bedroom. Hobi tried to get in bed without disturbing him and failed. Yoongi jerked awake.
“It’s okay, it’s just me,” Hobi said.
“Okay,” Yoongi tried to slow his breathing.
“Down we go,” Hobi helped him to lying down. Hobi lied down facing him. Yoongi watched him intently.
“What?” Hobi asked.
“I can’t remember the last time I slept in a real bed,” he said.
“Where did you sleep?” Hobi wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer.
“Roll away hospital beds. It was easier when it was time for us to give birth,” Yoongi swallowed hard.
“You don’t have to talk about it,” Hobi said.
“Yes, I do,” Yoongi whispered. “The Alphas liked me because I was one of the prettiest males. The ones who didn’t want to be with a female almost always picked me. I fought, though. That’s why they had to strap me down. I wouldn’t hold still long enough for the Alphas to knot me. Then I got a reputation for being a fighter. That’s when it got really bad.”
“Being strapped down and raped wasn’t bad enough?” Hobi tried to keep himself calm. He didn’t want to upset Yoongi any more than he already was and by extension the pup.
“Once I was labeled a fighter, they’d put me in a pen first to let the Alpha catch me before I was knotted. I bit a lot of Alphas. Ones who wanted pups that were aggressive would play that game. What they didn’t understand is I learned to fight. I’m not an aggressive Omega,” Yoongi’s voice started shaking. Hobi could smell the fear and anxiety.
“That’s over now. We’re going to find out who’s doing it and where they are and stop them. You and this pup are safe. Anyone who comes in this house without our permission will have to get through us & the dogs,” Hobi told him.
“Dogs?” Yoongi repeated.
“Two spoiled rotten pit bulls named Daisy and Violet,” Hobi told him. “They’re the biggest babies on the planet until they come across someone threatening their daddies.”
“What about me?” Yoongi asked.
“You won’t be able to get Daisy out of your lap. She won’t be happy when we shoo her off until Tae has cleared you for lap time,” Hobi replied. “She pouts.” Yoongi smiled a little.
“I don’t mean to be afraid of him,” Yoongi started.
“But nurses aren’t your favorite people?” Hobi finished.
“No,” he said.
“He can be a jackass, but I’m biased. He’s my little brother,” Hobi grinned.
“Sure,” Yoongi said.
“Time to turn out the light?” Hobi asked.
“Sounds good,” Yoongi said.
“It’s okay. I’m right here,” Hobi told him as he leaned over and turned off the light. Then he felt Yoongi nosing around his neck scenting him. “Does that make you feel better?”
“Yes,” he whispered.
“Then rub around all you want,” Hobi hoped he could keep his knot at bay. Now that Yoongi wasn’t reeking of anxiety and fear, he smelled...perfect. Hobi wasn’t sure what that meant exactly, but it was what came to mind. He was on bed rest for the pup and the most exertion he needed was to go to the bathroom and get back in bed. Maybe once the pup was out of the woods…
“You like me too, huh?” Yoongi said. Hobi looked down. Shit.
“It’s not like that. I don’t want to, I mean I do, but we just met and the pup and everything,” Hobi stumbled over his words .
“I understand. The pup comes first,” he said.
“Absolutely,” Hobi agreed.
“Do you believe in love at first sight?” Yoongi asked.
“Is this a trick question?” Hobi asked.
“No, but I didn’t expect to be rescued by an Alpha in the pouring rain after I escaped a Breeder Farm and was sure I was going to die in the mud. Every time one of those Alphas knotted me and hoped they’d get me pregnant so they could have their perfect pup, I’d pray that there was at least one Alpha in the world who didn’t want me, as you so aptly put it, as only a pup factory. It’s what kept me alive. One day I’d get out and one day I’d find that Alpha. I knew when I smelled you that you were different. You didn’t want me to die. I didn’t even realize I lost that pup until Tae said something. You would think I knew better after giving birth 5 times, but all I could think about was getting out. It was only after I fell down that I realized how bad it was. I dunno, maybe it’s only because I was dying that I thought the Alpha I’d dreamed about for years had finally found me,” Yoongi replied.
“I started grooming you when Tae was examining you because it seemed to keep you calm. I don’t think I’ve ever groomed anything other than a horse or a dog,” Hobi replied. “That has to mean something, right?”
“Have you been looking for a mate?” Yoongi asked.
“No,” Hobi answered.
“Then it means something,” Yoongi said. He gently kissed Hobi. “Thank you for saving our lives, Hobi.”
“You’re welcome,” Hobi replied. “And so are you, pup number 10.” Yoongi put Hobi’s hand on his belly again.
“Pup says thank you, too,” he said.
“Good night, Yoongi,”
“Good night, Hobi,”

Now that the adrenaline from the escape from the Fortress, getting Leia home, marrying, and stopping by the Lars’ farm had worn off, Obi-Wan could see what the years of torture had truly done to you. You were gripping his hand tighter than Obi-Wan had ever felt you grip before. You were right against his side, almost like you were hoping to melt into him. With each loud noise or sudden movement anyone made, you were cowering behind Obi-Wan. Your signature was tightly wrapped around his own, begging for his safety and comfort despite how hard you tried to not seem like this was all affecting you so much.
“Sorry,” you mumbled, tearing up, after the latest scare.
“Little star, please don’t apologize,” Obi-Wan said, stopping the two of you in an empty space between buildings. He wanted to give you some time and space to just feel him, away from the townspeople.
“But I—“
“I really do not want to hear another apology come from your mouth. Especially about your reactions. Understood?” You timidly nodded. “Let’s get the last few items we absolutely need and then we will go back to the canyon. I can come back and get everything else another time.”
You glanced around the bustling streets. You tried to press down the growing anxieties but just couldn’t. Swallowing, you nodded. Obi-Wan pressed out a smile for you before giving your lips a tender kiss.
“I love you.” His words were firm, almost like he believed you had forgotten his feelings towards you.
“I love you,” you repeated.
~~~
Nights seemed to not be any easier on you. Your mind would take you to someplace that you would never willingly tell Obi-Wan. He was struggling with the fact that he was feeling so helpless and that you wouldn’t open up about anything that happened. Obi-Wan knew that none of what happened to you was good and that he would have a hard time with it himself, but he wanted to do his part—as a husband—to share that burden.
During the day, when it was just the two of you working together to build your future home, you would act like nothing was wrong. Though Obi-Wan could see it in your eyes and would try to gently bring it up, you would always just shake your head and tell him that it will pass.
You had not gone into town since that first time. Obi-Wan was always nervous to leave you alone, but you promised you could handle yourself. If you weren’t working on what you could of the house, you were meditating; trying to work through all the terrible memories.
It had been a few weeks since you arrived in the canyon before you finally started opening up. It happened one night. You were screaming like you were in pain, though you were asleep. The sudden scream had woken up Obi-Wan from where he was sleeping next to you. He quickly sat up and moved closer to you.
“Little star!” He called out over your screams. You had begun thrashing around as well. “Wake up, darling!”
You kept panicking. Obi-Wan decided to straddle you. His knees were placed on either side of your waist while his hands came up to grip your wrists and keep them against the mat beside your head. You screamed against as you tried to free yourself from his grip.
“Come on, little star,” Obi-Wan pled, tears welled up in his eyes as he struggled to wake you and could feel your pain in the Force around the two of you. “Please, wake up. You’re safe. You’re with me. Just wake up, darling, please.”
One of his tears escaped his eye and fell down to your cheek. Your eyes snapped open, frantically looking around. Your panic worsened when you realized you were being held down.
“It’s okay, little star,” Obi-Wan tried to remain calm, though his own tears were getting in the way of that. He could handle his own fears, his own nightmares—seeing you struggle with them was a whole other thing. “I’m right here. You’re safe.”
“Obi?” Your voice was completely broken.
“Thank the Maker.” His head hung as his eyes closed, trying not to cry over you. “I was so worried, little star.”
Heavily breathing, you tried to figure out what to do next. Obi-Wan was still straddled over you with your wrists pinned next to your head. His head hung down and you could see glistening streaks of tears on the skin that wasn’t covered by his beard. Tears were slipping out of your eyes as you remembered what happened.
“I’m sorry,” you whimpered.
Obi-Wan’s eyes snapped up to meet yours. “No, no, no,” he shook his head. “Do not apologize.”
“You clearly had to pin me down.”
“It was for your safety, not mine.” Obi-Wan made no move to change positions, but his grip on your wrists loosened slightly. “I am so worried about you, little star.”
“I know… I…”
“Please, if you don’t tell me what happened, what’s going on in your mind, I cannot help you… and it is killing me to see you this way.”
“I… there’s just so much.”
“Then tell me what you can right now. I just need to take away some of your pain. I need to carry some of this burden with you… Please let me carry this burden with you.”
“Oh, Obi…” You hadn’t realized what all of this was to your husband. How it might be affecting him as well seeing your struggle. “Can you let go of me?”
He slowly moved his hands off of your wrists. Your hands came up and around his neck, carefully pulling his face down to you. Your lips captured his, kissing him through the tears you were both sharing.
“Hold me,” you requested quietly once the kiss was over.
Obi-Wan did not hesitate to take you into his arms. Once you were securely in them, he moved so that he was laying on his back and you were on top of him.
“They used me as some sort of prize,” you began. You were so quiet that Obi-Wan could barely hear you. “They dragged me out during Imperial meetings and tortured me for fun. They would even—“ Your voice was caught in your throat as you once again relived the events you were recounting. Obi-Wan’s arms tightened around you protectively. “They would even touch me.”
Obi-Wan’s breath drew in sharply as the realization hit him that you had basically been through it all. All different levels of torture—including unwanted touching. In which you had already been subjected to many years before.
“They… they didn’t rape me,” you continued. Your husband found very little comfort in that. You were hesitant to tell Obi-Wan why the touching didn’t go further, but you knew you needed to. “Anakin— Vader,” you quickly corrected, “he wouldn’t let them go further than touching me.” Again, he felt very little comfort in that. “When I sleep, I’m there all over again. I am experiencing ever bit of torture… all at once… And I… I don’t know how to deal with it.”
“Well, not on your own, is a good start,” Obi-Wan said quietly.
“I know… I just haven’t known how to talk about it… haven’t really been ready to talk about it.”
“I understand.”
“Thank you for your patience.”
He kissed the top of your head. “Of course, my little star. You are my wife, I will always try my best to give you what you need. So, what do you need right now?”
“I just need you… your presence, your smell, your heartbeat, your arms around me… you are all I need.”
“I am glad you feel that way, but I always long to give you more.”
You moved your head so that you and Obi-Wan could look at each other. “I am serious, Obi. You are all I need. I don’t need the Force, a home, anything, but you.”
You leaned in and kissed him, trying to make sure that he could feel the truth behind your words through the action and your bond. Obi-Wan responded in kind, wanting to make sure you knew that he believed you and simply needed you as well. As you kissed, you moved so that you were straddling him, wanting to make sure that you could be as close as possible to him.
“Little star,” the man moaned into your mouth.
“Yes?” You moved to look at his eyes, a playful glint in your own.
Obi-Wan shook his head slightly before pulling you down to kiss you hard.
~~~
The night was full of passion and love and desire. Both of you sharing your body, mind, and soul with each other. Not like you hadn’t done it before, but there was something different about that night. Somehow the two of you were able to merge your bond further.
As the weeks went on, you began to get better. It wasn’t an easy process by any means. For every healing step you made forward, you felt as if you took multiple steps back. Thankfully, Obi-Wan was there for you. Together, you continued to work on the house, meditated, and trained with Master Qui-Gon. It took you a while to be able to go back into town with Obi-Wan and when you started to, panic attacks quickly happened. Obi-Wan did his best to comfort you and get you home when those happened. Eventually, though, you were able to go into town with very few problems.
One night, as you sat next to the fire putting together dinner, you kept stealing glances at Obi-Wan. He was working on the house. The bricks had all been placed, meaning that the walls were up inside and outside, and now it was time for plastering. As you watched him work, you couldn’t help but think of how hard-working and caring he was. How great of a father he would be.
The thought then crossed your mind about possibly having children with Obi-Wan. Did you want children? You honestly didn’t know. Did he? Again, you didn’t know. Something though in the Force was telling you to see a medic and for some reason, alone. You didn’t like the thought of not going without Obi-Wan, but you were interested in knowing why.
Obi-Wan turned to catch you staring, though you also seemed to be lost in thought.
“What is it?” He questioned.
“Oh,” you shook your head, “nothing… just watching you.”
Obi-Wan was unbelieving, and it showed on his face. He put what he was working on down and came over to you. “I don’t believe you, little star.” He sat beside you. “What’s going through that head of yours?”
“I just, uh, I need to run into town tomorrow.”
“You do? Whatever for?”
“There’s just something I have to do on my own.”
His brows furrowed. “On your own?”
“I need to be able to see if I can go to town on my own. It will be a quick trip. I promise.”
“What are you keeping from me, darling?”
“Nothing.” You grabbed his hand to try and reassure him, though you both knew you were hiding something. “I promise it will be a quick trip. You don’t have to worry.”
Obi-Wan studied you for a brief moment. He couldn’t understand why you were hiding something from him, but he knew that you would tell him when you were ready, as you always did. He gave your hand a light squeeze as he nodded.
“Alright,” he said. He pulled your hand up to his lips to kiss the back of it. “Let’s get you off to bed then. You have a long day tomorrow.”
~~~
Obi-Wan made sure not to send you on your way without plenty of affectionate kisses and making sure that you were positive about going alone. You reassured him multiple times that you would be alright and call for him if needed. You made your way to the town as quickly as you could and went straight for the clinic in the center of it. As you waited to be called back, you nervously bounced one of your legs up and down.
“Y/N,” a female called from the doorway. You quickly stood up. “Follow me.”
You followed her to a small private room. She motioned to a medical bed that you took a seat on.
“What are you in here for?” The female asked.
“I would like to know if I can get pregnant,” you answered. “My husband and I would like to try,” you came up with a logical excuse that might not be an exact lie.
“Of course. There are a few tests and scans we can do. I’ll send someone in to do those and then I’ll be back in to take about the results.”
“Thank you.”
~~~
Your trip into town was taking far too long for Obi-Wan’s liking. He was respecting you by not searching in your bond or going after you, but he was really close to doing so. Obi-Wan heard you as you came up to the camp. He furrowed his brows at the fact he hadn’t been able to sense you coming. As he finished swiping some plaster onto the house, he tried to branch out to you with his signature, only to be met with shields. Obi-Wan turned to see you stop a few feet away from him. Your eyes were red with a few tears slipping down your cheeks.
“Little star?” He questioned, voice full of worry. He went to go to you but you held up a shaky hand. He stopped. Scenarios played through Obi-Wan’s mind as he feared what had happened to you. “What happened?”
“I…” your voice was broken and shaking. You paused to swallow down a large lump of emotion. “I visited the clinic today.” This was news to Obi-Wan. “I wanted to know if I could get pregnant…. Turns out, I can’t.”
“Darling—“ He tried to step closer and you stepped back, putting your hand up.
“I… I’m not finished.” He gave you a nod to continue.
“They informed me of why I can’t. Turns out that, in that surgery, after I had stepped in to save Anakin, the surgeon did something to prevent me from ever having kids. The way it was done wasn’t on accident either…. Someone ordered it to happen….” The tears couldn’t be stopped. “The Council ordered it to happen.”
Obi-Wan had never felt anger and sorrow like this before. He had believed to have felt this with Anakin’s turn to the dark, but this was a whole other level. He was furious with the Council—the Council which no longer even existed seeing as the Jedi Order was gone. You had been injured and they had made a choice for you, not even bothering to talk to you about it. And now, you stood in front of Obi-Wan sobbing into your hands. Your shields were up and with every move Obi-Wan made to comfort you through the Force or physically, you pulled away. His fists clenched as he tried to reign in his emotions—his tears. You needed him to be the strong one.
“Did—“ Your watery voice caught in your throat as you seemed to be scared to look up at your own husband. “Did you know?”
Obi-Wan shook his head adamantly as his heart shattered further. He was on the Council at the time. You believed he had something to do with the situation you now found yourselves in. He tried to step closer to you and you took another step back. Obi-Wan failed to mask the hurt on his face.
“I would have never let them do something like that to you, little star,” he spoke with such promise, such anger, and sadness. “I would have fought.”
“I—“ you could barely form a coherent thought. “They—“
The Council, who had trained you and practically raised you, had betrayed you in a far deeper manner than you could have ever imagined. Your breaths were labored and uneven. Your whole body was trembling with a variety of emotions. Obi-Wan looked on, as close as you would let him, with his hands out. He was so desperate to touch you. To hold you and try to make all this pain go away. But he knew he truly couldn’t. Yes, he wanted to cry and scream as well. The Council had taken his chance of having a shared child with you away. But, your feelings were what mattered here. It was not his body that had been forcefully manipulated without his knowledge. No. It was honestly much worse than that because your body was much more precious to him. And the Council had done physical damage to it. Without your permission or knowledge.
“I—“ you shook your head, tears cascading down your face, “I can’t—“
You crashed to your knees in heartbreaking sobs. Obi-Wan rushed forward to hold you but you pulled back. Tears escaped his eyes as his own pain grew. All he longed to do was hold you, but you wouldn’t allow it. Slowly, Obi-Wan fell to his knees, eyes not peeling away from you once. Your hands were clenched together resting against your chest as you lurched forward with each sob. Obi-Wan’s hands pressed against his thighs as they struggled not to be in contact with you.
It was much too long for Obi-Wan’s liking before your sobs subsided into quiet whimpers. Your body was still trembling ever so slightly. You hadn’t looked at your husband since you had fallen. You just couldn’t get yourself to. Even if he hadn’t known, he was still on the Council and the only one you could really blame at the moment. Though, you didn’t actually blame him. Never him.
“Little star…” Obi-Wan tried. He just wanted any sort of interaction with you. Even if it was just you looking at him.
“I don’t even know if I truly want kids,” you mumbled, looking down. “But it doesn’t even matter now…. I don’t get to make that choice.”
Obi-Wan didn’t know what to say. He knew that no amount of apologies or comforting words could take this pain away. Though how he wished they could. Slowly, you stood up to your feet, with Obi-Wan quickly following.
“I… I need to be alone,” you muttered, not sparing him a glance before turning and disappearing into your tent.
Obi-Wan stood there as he heard your sobs start up again. He looked at the house he was building. And something came over him. If you could not fill this house with children of your own, Obi-Wan would still make sure that it could be filled with light and love. He would build this house for you. It wouldn’t fix what had been done—nothing could—but it was something.
Obi-Wan threw himself into the work. He worked through the rest of the day and into the night. He stopped to make food for you both, though you made no move to eat or even interact with him when he brought it to you. Your reaction—or lack thereof—made Obi-Wan’s desire to finish the house grow.
By the time Tatooine’s suns rose in the sky, Obi-Wan had plastered the whole house and put flooring down. He sighed as he brushed the dust off his hands. Slowly, he turned his head over to the tent. You had stopped crying well into the night and hadn’t made a sound since. Obi-Wan moved to head over when a voice stopped him from behind.
“Wait, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon called.
Obi-Wan spun around to see the Force ghost. “Master Qui-Gon, now is really not a good time.”
“I know. The Force is compelling me to come to you and confirm that the Council did order the procedure that was done on Y/N.”
“Why? I was on the Council, I should have been made aware of it.”
Qui-Gon sighed. “Master Yoda and Master Windu were guided by the Force. It was the will of the Force.”
Obi-Wan had never scoffed about the Force until now. “The will of the Force?” His arm shot out, pointing to the tent you were curled up in. “See where the will of the Force has gotten her! She’s lost everything! Yes, she has me but she’s lost me multiple times due to the will of the Force! She lost her brother! Her mother! Her found family!”
“Y/N is a child of the Force. We must do what it asks, especially when it comes to her.”
“Even take away her choice to have children?”
Qui-Gon could not answer that, knowing that Obi-Wan was right. He would normally agree but since his death, he has learned more about what the Force has in store.
“Y/N is one of the Chosen Ones,” Qui-Gon simply stated.
“She is my wife!” Obi-Wan shouted. “She is more important than just some prophecy! She is more than just an object to be used at convenience!” He turned to stare at the tent briefly before looking back at Qui-Gon. “Her pain is my pain… I know the pain the Council has caused her before. This is something completely different…. This has changed my view on the Force. On the Jedi Order… I still believe in the Force. But I do not respect it very much right now.”
Obi-Wan turned and headed for the tent. He took a deep breath before crawling in. You are laying on your side, facing his side. Your eyes were wide open and bloodshot. It was clear that you had not slept all night. Obi-Wan moved so that he was laying down in front of you, looking at you. He made sure that he was giving you space. As he tried to meet your gaze, Obi-Wan realized that you were out of it.
“Oh my little star,” he breathed out, itching to connect with you in any way. “Please let me help you.”
Though you never truly looked at him, you slowly reached your hand out. It was incredibly shaky as it moved to touch Obi-Wan. He felt slightly relieved at the fact that you had made contact with him. Obi-Wan couldn’t stop his own tears from falling as your tears started up again. The hand you had on Obi-Wan tried pulling him closer to you. He didn’t waste a second, pulling you into him and holding you close. The two of you cried together in that small tent, mourning the loss of what could not be.

As Kara flew, she replayed over and over again what Clark had just said to her.
I just received a distress signal on my device from my mom. It looks like it is coming from the farm. I am still far out in space and won’t make it in time. Please hurry and help her!
Martha Kent was the first one who welcomed Kara to Earth. She was actually the one who found her when she crash-landed on the planet. She was so kind and loving which was something Kara so desperately needed after seeing her own world shatter before her very eyes. Once Kara got settled at the farm, Martha immediately told Clark about her.
It wasn’t that Clark wasn’t welcoming. He was more cautious. Kara was initially understanding at first. Unfortunately, Zod had come before her and caused havoc on Earth. After Clark sent him to the phantom zone, it took him over a year to rebuild people’s trust in him. Now, he had Kara, a new Kryptonian popping into his life, and he wasn’t sure what her intentions were. Every time he looked at Kara, he seemed conflicted about how to respond. So she gave him space. She stayed at the farm while Clark continued his life in Metropolis. It wasn’t bad. Martha was a second mother to her. She would offer her advice and help her acclimate to society. Kara knows that part of the reason that they bonded was through their tragic losses. Kara had lost everything she knew, and Martha had just lost the love of her life. They leaned on each other to try to continue living. They talked about everything, but the thing that made her the most happy was Martha’s willingness to listen to her tales of Krypton. Clark avoided the subject like the plague, but Martha fully immersed herself. She listened eagerly through all her stories and a lot of the literature that the Fortress of Solitude had. She had also started to learn Kryptonian. She was at a beginner level still, but it made Kara’s heart swell that there was someone else with whom she could converse in her mother language. She couldn’t imagine another person in her life being taken again after everything she went through.
Kara went as fast as she could. She thinks that she broke Mach 5 which she knows will put her in the DEO and possibly the IRS radar again especially if there was property damage. However, Kara didn’t give a damn. She needed to make sure Martha was safe. When she saw the farm in her field of vision, she had to fight her instinct to burst through the door. She remembered how being rash just weeks before nearly led to her almost losing her and Barry’s life, and she didn’t want the same thing to happen to Martha. She flew around the farm while using her X-ray vision. She didn’t see anything unusual until she saw the house. What she saw caused her to go from being frighten to more confused than anything else. She landed as gently as she could on the ground (due to Martha going off on both Clark and Kara for leaving craters across her lawn) and quickly walked to the house. She looked under the mat on the porch to get the spare key and entered the house. She heard noises coming from the kitchen and followed them. Once she got there, she saw Clark in his Superman costume sitting next to an embarrassed Martha in a robe at the kitchen table.
She scanned the room and noticed that there were two long-stemmed candles in the middle of the table and two plates that had little bits of half-eaten food on them. Next to the plates were two wine glasses. One was empty and the other was a quarter of the way full. There were rose petals on the floor that led out of the kitchen into the hallway. If she had to guess, Kara thinks they probably lead to Martha’s bedroom. She then looked back and forth between Clark and Martha once more. Martha still looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole and die somewhere. Clark had an unnerving look about him. She had seen that look before when he was about to go into a rage. She can tell that he is holding back by the way he is gripping the table. Considering that it is made from nth metal (the strongest in the galaxy) and was starting to bend slightly tells her that something happened. She had a pretty good idea of what happened but didn’t want to assume.
Please let this idiot not have called me because his mother actually decided to have a love life.
She looked back and forth between them hesitantly and said, “Clark, you told me to come here because there was an emergency, but it doesn’t seem like there is one taking place. Was the emergency device activated in error or did something else happen?”
Clark stared at her coldly for a moment and said, “Since I brought you in, I didn’t expect much, but I damn well-expected loyalty.”
Kara looked back at him shocked, and said, “I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Clark sneered at her and said, “Don’t feign innocence with me. You know what you did, and I need you to terminate the contract you have with them right now.”
Kara looked at him surprised for a minute and then it dawned on her.
Don’t tell me this whiny bitch went to tattle on me to mommy.
Kara clenched her fist. She knew that Clark would get irritated. That was her goal, but she hated that Martha got dragged into this mess and ruined her evening. She took a deep breath to try to keep calm.
Kara forced a smile and said, “I am taking a guess you heard about my partnership with the hospital.”
Clark slammed his hand on the table and yelled, “You’re damn right! You took a job with the enemy!”
Martha looked confused between Kara and Clark and said, “I don’t understand. How is working at the hospital some type of betrayal?”
Clark turned to Martha with a disgusted look while pointing his finger directly at Kara.
“You always defended her saying that she came to Earth to do no harm and that we should trust her. But she has been working with the enemy this whole time.”
“And who exactly is the enemy?” asked Martha hesitantly.
Clark turned towards Kara and spat, “Lena Luthor.”
“Lena is a civilian who runs the local hospital for children in my area. There are no records of her doing anything nefarious or the hospital for that matter. She is not only smart but very kind-hearted,” said Kara lofty.
Clark smirked and said, “Oh, I thought that you were smart enough not to get sucked into the Luthor’s charm. They appear nice, but they are nothing but a bunch of vipers.”
Kara smirked and said, “I didn’t realize that you have a grudge against anyone last named Luthor. Doesn’t this go against the Almighty Superman’s policy about tolerance and acceptance?”
“They deserve nothing from us!” exclaimed Clark.
Kara raised an eyebrow and asked, “Are you really going to let your hatred for one person spread to everyone else?”
Clark shook his head, scoffed, and said, “I knew that you would be unreasonable which is why I thought mom could talk some sense into you.”
He turned to his mom expecting some backup. However, when he looked at his mom, she stared at with with a rage in her eyes that caused his face to go pale.
“Mom, why….”
Martha held up her hand to silence him. He gulped and sat silent.
Kara had to stop herself from bursting out laughing.
Can’t believe he is such a mama’s boy.
Martha rubbed the back of her head for a moment and turned to look back at Clark with an angry glare in her eyes which caused him to back up a little.
“Let me see if I understand this. You forced me to hurry out of bed and didn’t give me a chance to put on any clothes because of some big emergency….”
“But mom…”
“Excuse me, did I say that I was finished speaking?”
Clark looked down and said, “No ma’am.”
“I thought so. You bring me out here half dress because you said that Kara was in some type of crisis and all of this is because she is working with Lena Luthor? You have known Lena all of her life. Where the hell is all of this aggression coming from?”
That last statement piqued Kara’s interest.
Kara frowned and asked, “Wait. Martha is making it sound like that not only have you known each other for a while, but you have at least been friendly towards one another in the past.”

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Season One Anime Review
Includes Spoilers
Tumblr media
So I had recently bought the game and tried to play it and felt I was lost not knowing the characters or the connections and was solely going by the looks of Alan was most pleasing to me. Anyways I decided to sit down and watch the anime then I would be ready for the game. It says the game takes place after the first season of the anime so here is my review of the first season then I will start playing the game and will leave reviews later for that.
Tumblr media
First here are all of them as kids aren't they damn cute like all the little boys were adorable, still prefer Alan and Keith as far as little kids go though. Thats just my opinion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alan Stuart
So lets start with the man that had my attention right away. He was the most dashing and handsome of them all to me. He is Mary's fiancé and I wanted to show something in the difference in how he looks at Catarina and how he looks at Mary and you can see a big difference. First picture is Alan and Mary if Catarina wasn't in the picture its cute but I still see lack there of love. Then the 2nd picture is of him carrying Mary when she almost gets hurt yet he doesn't even look down at her, this is after he knew Catarina. As you can see when Catarina became part of his world Mary didn't phase him in the least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now below is the difference Catarina has opened up Alan's world. First holding her in his arms effects him it gets to him because the feel of her against him is hard for him to think about anyone but her. He gets flustered easy around her and although he took alot longer for him to realize what his feelings were it was always shown even when he didn't have a name for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though she was engaged to his brother there was something in the way they looked at each other. Like they haven't confessed anything to each other but that look even from her. She looks at him with more love and affection than she looks at her fiancé to me. I love the chemistry and damn I can't wait to romance the hell out of this man in the game. He is a tsundere but damn one fine one and he really does love her. I thought in one episode that showed all of their desires to be with Catarina and they cut his short I felt like I was gipped then this scene happened where he climbed the tree and that connection there it looked like at one point they were going to kiss even so much Mary saw and was freakin out to get to them. However it ends that episode and never picks it back up so I am curious what happened that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then just the casual in the hall glance and how they were so competitive as kids it all led them to care for each other the way they do. I think not only that but she was good for him he always felt 2nd best to Geordo being his brother and she never let him feel second best to her. She still hung out with him and even helped him play a prank on his brother/her fiancé. They are the perfect example of the big brother/best friend trope that led them to care more. He is still my favorite and I love his awkwardness sometimes along with his flusters he is absolutely my kinda guy for sure.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keith Claes
I honestly wasn't sure how I was gonna feel about Keith going in I mean yeah I knew it was her brother but I was curious to see how it played out. From the very first time you get a idea of him as a kid you realize he is so hurt and broken and just needs love and care. When Catarina is the one who gives it to him even when he doesn't feel worthy of it wasn't hard to see this boy fall and fall hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike some of the others from well off families even though Keith had the upbringing to be a gentleman and noble he would still help Catarina in whatever she wanted to do. She wanted to build a farm he did it to, if she wanted to travel the towns he was there. No matter what, he is always in her court and would burn the world, well in his case with his magic he would crumble the world around them so that they were together and the things that could hurt her were gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man 100% is the bean of this show. He genuinely loves her and not as a sister. I mean he isn't her real brother more like a cousin they said than anything. He fell for her pretty soon after meeting her so I don't think he truly ever put her in a sister only mind set he was determined to be there for her like she was for him. He really is a sweetheart and I don't know how anyone couldn't like him. He is my 2nd favorite with Catarina I love how he looks at her.
Tumblr media
I also love his constant trying to bump Geordo out of the picture just to be next to his sister. He would truly follow her anywhere. Its also sincere and sweet that when he thinks he will never see her again you can see all the pain in him of that sad little boy again but he rises past it all to be there for her even if it means talking to her when she is in a coma until she eventually hears him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nicol Ascart
Ok not gonna lie he is your kuudere for sure, man of very few words and very hard to know what he is thinking. However when he looks at her he only sees her. All the girls fall over themselves for him but when Catarina looks at him and he looks at her he cares about nothing else. He knows she is with his best friend Geordo and knows he shouldn't love her but says he would rather spend any moment he can by her side until he no longer can again. This truly grabs at my heart strings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that even as kids they look at each other in such a sweet endearing way. The fact she is good to his sister when no one else is, and she treats him like he is important and not some object to drool over or push away. With her he can be himself, he can smile when he never did before her. Even in the episode of desire you could see he would push all the ladies away to take her away with him to be happy. He is your darker sheep of the anime but still such a sweet boy I look forward to seeing more from him as well.
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Geordo Stuart
So I'm on the fence the most with him only cause sometimes he feels to perfect. However by the end of the first season you realize he felt nothing but a mundane life and really didn't know happiness until her. This really made me start liking him more. He is a total flirt but only to her which I respect completely. I mean if your gonna flirt make it towards the one you want. Also the fact that he felt responsible for her injury as a kid that she got hurt he vowed to marry her right then so that she would never worry about people ridiculing her for her looks due to the mark on her forehead. I mean even at a young age his proposal was adorable and spot on with the hand kissing and everything.
Tumblr media
He is definitely the mischievous boy and Keith probably is smart to worry about him. I say this because if Catarina gave him half the chance he would so sleep with her. He is probably the only boy I truly feel is the most dirty minded one of them all. In the desire episode you see that when he literally gets wine and starts trying to make out with her. He even announces in the dreamish world that they are now married and she gets to be alone with him all night. That was so spot on with his desires.
Tumblr media
He does love her though its not like I can't see how much he cares anyone can see it. The way he holds her though is so sweet he holds her like she is the most precious thing in the world because to him she is. I hope in time with him being her true route you see more chemistry between the two mainly from her side because as of right now its more one sided from what I see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He gained even more respect for me when he got upset like he blamed himself for not being able to protect her. I feel like he would do anything to protect her just like any of the other men and that is a value in him. I also don't think he would ever hurt her intentional at all. Come on he don't even notice other girls nor does he care what people think of him or of her its what he feels. Then the fact he takes water and feeds it to her in a kiss when she is in a coma to keep her hydrated that was the most romantic thing he did so far. So by the end of it I think I love him as much as some of the guys now he just had to win me over a bit more.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raphael Walt
Ok this boy is a down right cutie, to me he is you cinnamon roll in this anime 100%. Yes he had darkness and revenge take him over but come on his moms last words as she bled out in front of him was avenge my death. That is enough to make anyone flip a switch.
Tumblr media
The way he holds Catarina's hand so gentle even when he was in pain and suffering, as well as how she reaches out to touch him and understand his pain. I honestly think they could make a good match and wish it was included in the game. I hope eventually he gets to shine and have even a small chance with her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then after all the bad things he did and she understood why he tried to make up for it all. He isn't a bad boy at all this is a sweet baby boy who just needs to be loved and cared for by a woman and I think he will grow up well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Come on you can't tell me he isn't sorry even Keith and Geordo make a comment that she has taken on seducing another man for them to have to compete against. This should prove he should be a love interest. I will cross my fingers I see more of him in the second season or in future games. He is the side character that I think should be dateable.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Girls (Mary Hunt, Sophia Ascart, & Maria Campbell)
Tumblr media
Mary - The girls are all supposed to be her best friends but every damn one of them is in love with her. Sometimes its way over done like especially with Mary. I feel like with Mary she tries to force her love on Catarina, and she tries to shut down everyone elses advances. I feel like she would even be a bad one to date for being controlling in the end. She is the cray cray yanderish types in female form I swear.
Maria - She is a sweetheart but sometimes she is just too sweet to me. Like her light side magic to how humble she is. The fact she sees the good in everyone all the time and although I know she has it hard I just feel like she needs to spend more time being herself and not this over joyed happy girl all the time. I do still like her but as far as her with Catarina I just don't see anything but friends.
Sophia - She is my favorite of the girls probably cause when you realize she was with Catarina in her past life and how much she loved her even after she died it shows there is such a close bond with them. When no one else wanted to be her friends her connection with Catarina made her grow up much happier. I even love how she got to say goodbye to her one last time before being there by her side as Sophia. I can say I think friendship is all they should be even with the fact I think she does love her I think she wants her brother and Katarina to be together as well. Maybe they want to share her lol.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall Thoughts
This is such a beautiful anime all the way around. After just the first episode I was hooked and needed more. I would have binged it one day if I had been busy that day but by day 2 was done with one sitting from episode like 5 to the end. I love everyone of these characters for one reason or another. They all bring something to the story that when you take one out for just a moment you realize how they are needed. There of course there is a few side characters you would miss to but the main ones below are the biggest ones you can't have this anime without.
Tumblr media
I absolutely love how these guys looks flustered like they seriously are hot as hell especially Keith & Alan who were effected the most. Geordo and Nicol's are a little more shameless and promiscuous in their own way compared to Alan and Keith who are alot more innocent.
Tumblr media
The banter between Keith and Geordo is what makes it funny as hell though. They are always technically dick measuring and showing each other up. Their banter is needed though unlike the other guys they are the ones that are the biggest rivals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this show has happy and funny moments but also sad and unpredictability as well. Characters you will learn to love some to hate and some you just don't care about. I honestly did not expect to love every one of the guys for one reason or another that usually never happens. I usually have one or two and the rest I don't care about but I'm actually looking forward to playing the game now to see how each story plays out all because the anime got my interest. I read a review on the ships people love and hate and I disagree with them so this is supposedly the ships that are the biggest from the anime.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Catarina x Alan --- LIKE ( I agree to me he is the most well fit for her and her personality. To me they are end game.)
Catarina x Sophia --- LIKE/HATE (I've seen this one waver for people, like I love their friendship and how much they care for one another but to me best not in a romantic way.)
Catarina x Keith --- HATE ( I disagree I think he would follow her to the ends of the earth and always take care of her anyway he could. He would make a good life long partner for sure.)
Catarina x Nicol --- LIKE (I agree they are cute together and the fact he don't care about any of the girls throwing themselves at him when she gives him attention tells you he has eyes only for her. I love how soft his eyes are when he smiles at her too.)
Catarina x Mary --- HATE (I agree she is overly pushy and even though I like Catarina with the guys when it comes to girls she is my least favorite. Anyways any advances she has made towards Katarina she has been shot down with anyways.)
Catarina x Maria --- LIKE/HATE ( I have seen this one waver too and just like with Sophia think they are better friends than more.)
Catarina x Raphael --- HATE (I disagree I actually think he is cute as a button. The fact he is fast to admit he is sorry but still wants to stay by her side I think he needs his own love route he deserves it after watching his mom killed in front of him. )
Catarina x Geordo --- LIKE (I agree they are cute together and I wouldn't totally hate them being together I like his flirtiness anyways)
