thinking about how every single thing pix does validates my preexisting lore ideas for him. this time specifically how do you know it's a heretical machine, pix? if no one wrote down anything about it, whom is it profaning, pix? do you think an empire that honors the dead would have any love for such a device, pix? do you think that an empire that clings to the dead would have any use for such a device, pix?

So this has been sitting in my inbox for two days and I only JUST finally got a chance to watch his ep and O.O

YEAH.

YEAH, PIX. We have questions.

This ancient explorer, a friendly sort of immortal who doesn't hesitate to scare you to death and then leave a gift anyway, who comes across this piece of machinery, and he doesn't... he doesn't remember it? Not properly? But he knows it's dangerous. He knows it's unnatural.

And... he uses it anyway. He takes its strength, its energy, and makes it his own. He's already a paradox -- what's a little more? Just for flavor.

False glances back out over the wreckage, an odd bitter fire sparking behind her eyes that Scar doesn't think he's ever seen before. "So far as we've found," she replies, "none."

From Separation Anxiety:

"That's for them to find out for themselves," Ren says gently. "You've loved them well and taught them well. Let them fly."

From You Know You're One of Us (There's No Escaping Us):

The librarian shrugs. “I told you. This is my place. Someone’s got to keep the books, make sure the roof doesn’t fall in under all that snow. Besides, you’re not the first to come here seeking him out, nor will you be the last. They drift in by ones and twos every few years, looking for a deal with destiny. Some even find it.” A queer chill runs through her that has nothing at all to do with the frigid arctic air. A deal with destiny? she thinks. Or a deal with the Devil?

ExpositionFairy-is a really good author for dsmp and Hermitcraft, and some Life Series. She wrote the Kaleidoscope au, based upon the popular fic, Passerine.

Hurricane- is a medieval setting with gods and goddesses on Hermit island. The story is the Hermit's pov of the Green god, the war god, and the nature god. Along with everything else in Passerine and Shrike. Almost all Hermits are gods or immortals. One day, the green god appears on the island, along with his two friends. The green god puts some of the inhabitants into deep sleep, and force them to go through a horrendous "game". They awake, and the other Hermits appear, threatening the green god. He leaves, with his friends, and never comes back. The Hermits must deal with the aftermath of everything. Bdubs helps a lost boy, who forgot his own name, and refuses to believe anything from that night was true. Grian has lost his beautiful wings, but the other Hermits invent a device to let him fly once more. The Hermits are together through everything. When they hear about the rise and fall of the Antarctic Empire. When they hear of the battle at the valley and death of the war god. They feel the world change and when the green god is gone. The know when the angle disappears, and after everything, they finally might be in peace.
