Does anyone know if Mercedes is appearing in the upcoming tv film? We did not see enough of her as a vampire in the show and I’ll be thrilled if we get to see more!
Also she and Wynonna had amazing chemistry which was really fun to watch.

Seven Black Performers Who Changed The World Of Burlesque
SARA COUGHLIN FEBRUARY 21, 2017, 10:30 AM
Josephine Baker
Tumblr media
PHOTO: GENERAL PHOTOGRAPHIC AGENCY/GETTY IMAGES.
At the height of their popularity in the early and mid-20th century, burlesque halls were overwhelmingly segregated spaces. Although women of color performed as shake dancers in nightclubs, they rarely shared the stage with white dancers. It was up to them to make a name for themselves in an industry in which their identities were easily obscured, exoticized, and even forgotten.
Here, we're celebrating some of the Black women who broke into the world of mainstream burlesque, and in turn forged pathways for future generations of Black performers and challenged standards of beauty.
Some of these women, Eartha Kitt and Josephine Baker among them, enjoyed illustrious careers and maintain their fame today. Then there are others, like Lady Ernestine, who are known only for their stage names and little else. What all of these women have in common is the drive to prove their talent to a society that expected little of them. They changed what it meant to be a sex symbol, proudly owning their Blackness and their bodies in a way that the American public certainly didn't see every day.
Click through to get to know some of the most prominent Black burlesque performers.
Jean Idelle
A true trailblazer, Idelle was the first Black woman to perform alongside white women and is credited with breaking the color barrier in burlesque. She performed throughout the 1950s in the U.S. and Canada, often with her signature ostrich feather dance.
Although she retired in 1960, Idelle performed for the Burlesque Hall of Fame in 2012, at the age of 82 — and naturally stole the show.

Toni Elling

Born Rosita Sims, Elling began her burlesque career in 1960, when she was 32. Though she was considered a little old for a dancer-cum-stripper, Elling's sheer talent proved her doubters wrong. She took her act around the country and even overseas (as far as Japan).
Although Elling retired from performing in 1974, she has continued to work as a teacher and role model for younger generations of dancers. To this day, her overriding message is to keep burlesque artful — not overt.
Lady Ernestine
Tumblr media
PHOTO: JET MAGAZINE.
Lady Ernestine, also known as The Exotic Queen, was a prominent performer in the '50s and '60s, but unfortunately, little else is known about her today.
Marie Bryant
Tumblr media
PHOTO: WATFORD/MIRRORPIX/GETTY IMAGES.
Bryant made her debut as a jazz club dancer when she was 15 in 1934. Only a year later, she had made a reputation for herself as an actor, singer, and dancer — a total triple threat. Bryant's career took off in several directions at once, as she performed around the country, recorded songs, and even broke into the film industry.
Although Bryant appeared in front of the camera several times, she made history as one of the first Black people to work on the technical side of a film. It was behind the scenes of a Gene Kelly picture that she started working as a dance instructor and choreographer.
Bryant continued to work with high-profile students, including Cyd Charisse, Ava Gardner, and Lucille Ball, and even opened her own studio before her death in 1978.
Eartha Kitt
Tumblr media
PHOTO: MICHAEL OCHS ARCHIVES/GETTY IMAGES.
Before Kitt was known for "Santa Baby" or for her role as Catwoman, she lived in poverty and faced discrimination for her mixed-race heritage. Kitt joined the Katherine Dunham Dance Company, the first ever African American modern dance company, when she was a teenager. She toured with the company as a featured singer and dancer until she was offered the chance to perform solo in European nightclubs.
She soon returned to the States and took Broadway by storm. Her performances stood out from the rest, thanks to her knowing sex appeal — one critic wrote that she "can make a song burst into flame."
Ada Overton
Tumblr media
PHOTO: DONALDSON COLLECTION/MICHAEL OCHS ARCHIVES/GETTY IMAGES.
Overton rose to fame in the early 1900s, making a name for herself as a gifted performer who made dances like the cakewalk and buck-and-wing her own. As a dancer, she was said to be as strong as she was graceful, flaunting her modern interpretations of indigenous African dances onstage for royalty and the white elite.
As Overton's career blossomed, she changed her first name to Aida, in honor of the Haitian spirit of fertility, and viewed her work as social activism for Black women and actresses. Overton performed until her death in 1914, at the age of 34. She's remembered as one of the first African American women to find success as a performer and she served as a role model for future generations of Black entertainers.

You're in my head
I had plans for the weekend
But wound up with you instead
Back here again
Got me deep in my feelings
When i should be in your bed
You and i go back to like '09 it's like forever
And you were there my lonely nights, yeah, keeping me together
So wouldn't it make sense if I was yours and you could call me your baby
But we say we're just, say we're just
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends
Just for now
Now I'm over pretending
So let's put the "end" in friends
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends are not supposed to get too close
And feel emotions that we're feeling now, now, now
We ain't slowing down, down, down
But once we cross the line, there's no denying you and I can never turn around, round, round
Know we'll never be the same
You and I go back to like '09 it's like forever
And you were there my lonely nights, yeah, keeping me together
So wouldn't it make sense if I was yours and you could call me your baby
But we say we're just, say we're just
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends
Just for now

So let's put the "end" in friends

TV Spot
Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica (Fiona Dourif) is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But after her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool – a “Good Guy” doll – a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
Pre-order Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky.

Note
This is random but WOTR queens as old Hollywood actresses:
Joan Crawford as Margaret of Anjou
Catherine Deneuve as Elizabeth Woodville
Gene Tierney as Anne Neville
Grace Kelly as Elizabeth of York
(bonus Ava Gardner as Isabel Neville and Katherine Hepburn as Margaret Beaufort)
Hey! I don't know if you meant to compare them personality-wise but I made a little side by side comparison:

WELCOME TO SHADYSIDE. shadyside, ohio is not a town like any other. things happen here. bad things. from the very first day the fears moved into town from new orleans, the town has not known peace. the year is 2023 and a documentary film crew has made their way into town, looking for an exposé on the town's horrors and the members of the infamous fear family that still live here.
but not everyone is thrilled to have a film crew in town. upending lives, causing traffic in the sleepy little town, and bothering people while they're trying to exist in the day to day. a documentary on the history of fear in shadyside might seem like it's a good idea for a major film studio who's seen what a based on a true story film can achieve, the residents aren't ready to give up their quiet for armchair detectives poking around in their business.
what's a resident to do when their business is about to be blasted all over the front pages of magazines and spread all over social media?
this is a dual timeline verse. in fact, it's a multi-timeline verse. all eras of shadyside will be involved with plot drops. characters will have the ability to come from their own era to 2023. you are more than welcome to apply with a character from any year, as the first planned plot drop has to do with shadyside's time traveling secrets. this verse is a discord/tumblr hybrid group, so you can rp on either platform with ease. you must be mutuals with famefckr/inspotlight to join this verse. no godmodding, etc. basic rules apply.
meet the residents and move into town:

Paul Newman in The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (John Huston, 1972)
Cast: Paul Newman, Jacqueline Bisset, Tab Hunter, John Huston, Stacy Keach, Roddy McDowall, Anthony Perkins, Stacy Keach, Anthony Zerbe, Ava Gardner, Victoria Principal, Ned Beatty. Screenplay: John Milius. Cinematography: Richard Moore. Art direction: Tambi Larsen. Film editing: Hugh S. Fowler. Music: Maurice Jarre.
The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean belongs to a sub-genre that prevailed in the early 1970s; I think of them as "stoner Westerns." The huge success of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (George Roy Hill, 1969) spawned a lot of movies that took an irreverent look at the legend of the American Old West and were aimed at the younger countercultural audience. They include such diverse films as Little Big Man (Arthur Penn, 1970), McCabe & Mrs. Miller (Robert Altman, 1971), The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (Philip Kaufman, 1972), Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (Sam Peckinpah, 1973), and Blazing Saddles (Mel Brooks, 1974). Most of them were seen as commentaries on American violence and the quagmire of the Vietnam War. Paul Newman, who had played Billy the Kid earlier in his career in The Left Handed Gun (Arthur Penn, 1958) as well as Butch Cassidy, found himself the go-to actor to portray Western legends: In addition to Judge Roy Bean, he was also cast as Buffalo Bill Cody in Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (Robert Altman, 1976). The Life of Times of Judge Roy Bean began with an original screenplay by John Milius, who wanted to direct it and to star Warren Oates in the title role, but when Newman read the script, he arranged for the rights to be bought up and for John Huston to be brought on as director. There is a whiff of hommage to (or perhaps parody of) Butch Cassidy in the film: As in the earlier film, which has a musical interlude with Butch and Etta Place (Katherine Ross) larking around to the song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," Judge Roy Bean has a scene in which the Judge, Maria Elena (Victoria Principal), and a bear lark around to the song "Marmalade, Molasses & Honey," which was written for the film by Maurice Jarre, Marilyn Bergman, and Alan Bergman. The song earned an Oscar nomination, but Huston was unable to find a consistent tone for the movie, which lurches from broad comedy (much of it provided by antics with the bear) to satire (the triumph of an avaricious lawyer played by Roddy McDowall) to pathos (the death of Maria Elena). It is laced with cameos, some of which provide the film's highlights, particularly the over-the-top performances of Anthony Perkins as an itinerant preacher and Stacy Keach as an albino outlaw named Bad Bob. But Ava Gardner simply walks through her scene as Lillie Langtry -- a decided anticlimax, given that she's been the off-screen obsession of Bean through most of the film.
