#legal transition
Note
Dysphoric culture is getting MORE dysphoric the closer you get to being able to transition. Like, I'm so close. plz just finalize everything and let me be me ;w;
Dysphoric culture is!
Also, yeah it’s like you’ve waited so long to transition and wish it could just be over already. Mod is on a waitlist and it’s so frustrating. Not even the waiting part, just thinking about how annoying it is to not have already transitioned and how long you’ve unnecessarily spent suffering with bad dysphoria :,(
Hopefully everything gets finalized soon anon!

One thing that gets me about systemic transphobia is how much of it requires an understanding of bureaucratic structures and norms, the ability to code switch to a White Professional persona, and some computer literacy to get around.
Like, even in the South, decent transition care is *kinda* available, and access to legal transition is *kinda* a thing. If you're in or near a big city, are reasonably quick and autodidactic, and modestly resourced, then there are options.
But my heart breaks to see so many trans folks in local support groups and forums who can't muster the code switch, can't understand the Structure of A Thing, or aren't great with computers who lose access to care for that!
In my state, changing the gender marker on your driver's license isn't technically impossible, but it involves finding out what documents you need (10 yr passport, no secondary documents with the incorrect gender marker on them), what office to go to (some are known to let you change it more often than others), and being able to speak Bureaucrat well enough to convince the clerk to do it. I managed to get my gender marker changed, and it felt like I rolled a 19 on a Persuasion check.
My doctor isn't anyone special, and works in a practice that is connected with a religious institution that doesn't speak too kindly of trans folks, and most of his patients are queer. He got me on informed consent HRT on Day 1, and has been a small but consistently encouraging force. Genuinely, I do not feel gatekept by him in the least. But I knew where and how to find him.
Getting my name changed wasn't a difficult process, and I got my paperwork back silly fast, but it took forever to figure out what forms to file where in what order. I could even get the court record sealed if I wanted to! (Although I still haven't gotten a bill from one of the offices that was supposed to send me one. Got the name change papers, though, what are they gonna do, take my name back?)
Look, are there worse and more urgent injustices? Absolutely. But these are tiny and needless, and I think that's worth mourning a little.

Visiting the trauma den
I visited my parent's house today. Not because I wanted to see them, no, I thought I'd left my birth certificate and history degree there, and I kind of need them to churn through legal transition and job application stuff. I'd had a terrible morning, the first time in two weeks I hadn't seen the girl in the mirror, and was dissociating for the first time in like a month. I committed to going because if I was going to have a shitty day, it might as well be productive.
It was exactly as depressing as I expected it to be. My bedroom is like a living museum, with a paper mâché dragonfly I'd made in primary school hanging from the ceiling, right next to a high school term planner and a Game of Thrones poster I'd put up in my first year of uni. Everything is caked in dust, and most things are exactly where I'd left them when I moved out, even though my dad lives out of that room now.
Nothing about the room looks deliberate. I lived out of it for 25 years, but it is like I was never there. No items I value, no aesthetic preferences expressed, fuck, none of the documents there even have my actual name. It's a trauma den, a hollow I hid in whilst I busied about making myself small. I'd learned from a young age that expressions of my authentic self would earn critique. One of the first things I ever internalised was that having feminine preferences was totally out of line, never to be spoken of, which ruled out most self expression straight away. The one time I ever played music out loud earning a shout from my dad to "turn that shit off." My parents would routinely criticise tattoos or piercings or alt haircuts, so I was never about to express my preferences for goth stuff either. If I ever did or said anything that my parents didn't approve of, from a bad mark at school to having too many chocolates for dessert, I knew it would be related to family members in a ritual of humiliation, right in front of me. No, presenting a small target was the only option I had to survive. The only identity my parents would ever see in that room was the one they gave me, Good Student. That dragonfly has stood on guard since 2003 because in nearly 20 years I'd never found a safe way to express myself using that space. As I churned through dusty stacks of folders and files looking for what I came for, combing over a lifetime's worth of papers, I felt like a stranger. They were objectively mine, but I didn't recognise them, all filed under Mr Deadname as they were. I felt as distant from the person that lived in that room as I do strangers. I didn't find what I wanted, only existential dread. Only the sense that I had wasted 25 years of my life in between those four walls, almost invariably alone and wallowing in depression, unidentified gender dysphoria chaining me to my computer, the only place I could be someone approximating myself. I had no youthful misadventure, no wanderings about town with friends or inadvisable drinking, no girlfriends or questionable experimentations with drugs, no awkward phases that I could look back on with mixed nostalgia and regret, no youth, no living. I felt like every day I had spent in that room, every day before leaving home, was a waste of time. I left in disgust, the opportunity to hug my old man cat the visit's one saving grace. When I got home, I did what I always do when I have a particularly dysphoric day - I invested in myself. But my face is shaved, my hair as cute as it will get without growing longer. My arms and legs are bare of hair, my chest freshly plucked. An easy crutch, validation from men on Grindr, is no longer valuable to me either since I'm still deep in a sapphic panic. The easy victories that marked the early weeks of my transition are no longer available to me. No, fuck it, what's $280 in fees for a lifetime of freedom? I printed my Legal Name Change Request form and supporting documents, finding enough to cope without my birth certificate. Mr Deadname can have the room of existential dread and my past, but I have a life to live. The future is mine.

How can a business undergo conversion?
By amending the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, a company can transform into another type following the regulations of the Companies Act 2013. Subsequently, apply to the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and close the previous registration upon approval.
After completing all necessary paperwork, the company will receive a certificate of incorporation. Here, the Registrar will give the business a new certificate of incorporation, which states its converted or new form.
Additionally, note that such conversion will not impact liabilities, debts, or other obligations incurred before the conversion. The company retains its debts, liabilities, obligations, contracts, etc., even after adopting a new legal structure consistent with the 2013 Companies Act. This lawful provision pertains to company conversions, reflecting the contemporary trend of rapid expansion and evolving company statuses. To accommodate the requirements and overcome the limitations of existing ones. Therefore, we will learn about the various conversion options currently available or possible under Indian taxation and government regulations.
Partnership Firm to LLP Conversion
Since introducing the LLP Act in 2008, many partnership firms have chosen to convert their structure to Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs).
The advantages of conversion are evident and understandable, encompassing the ability to welcome unlimited partners, establish various legal entities, enjoy limited liability, and facilitate swift ownership transfer through a simplified form. Owing to these advantages, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) have gained popularity among small and medium-sized firms in a growing economy like India.
Retaining all partners from the original firm is crucial when converting a Partnership Firm to an LLP. Kanakkupillai recommends retiring non-consenting partners and adding new ones after LLP incorporation.
Explore Further: Conversion from Partnership Firm to LLP
Given its minimal compliance and documentation requirements, small and medium-sized entities, as well as Indian entrepreneurs, widely favour Sole Proprietorship. As the business and incomes expand, entrepreneurs need to comply with the sole requirement of opening a trade with current accounts and furnishing the PAN details of the proprietor for income tax filings.
Tumblr media
As the business thrives and another peak awaits, entrepreneurs can transition their Sole Proprietorship into a Private Limited Company. It involves drafting an agreement between the Proprietorship and the newly incorporated Private Limited Company to sell the firm. The transformation process is complete when the newly formed Private Limited Company assumes control of the Sole Proprietorship Concern, as outlined in its Memorandum of Association.
Step-by-Step Procedure for Conversion of Company:
1. Evaluate Eligibility: Confirm if the company is eligible for conversion based on legal criteria.
2. Board Resolution: Pass a board resolution approving the conversion and convene a meeting.
3. Member Approval: Seek approval from shareholders through a special resolution in a general meeting.
4. Application Filing: Apply conversion with the appropriate regulatory authority.
5. Registrar Approval: Seek approval from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) for the conversion.
6. Drafting New Documents: Prepare new Memorandum and Articles of Association compliant with the converted structure.
7. Issue New Shares: If required, issue new shares to the shareholders per the conversion terms.
8. Approval from Other Authorities: Obtain necessary approvals from other regulatory bodies if applicable.
9.NO Objection Certificates (NOCs): Obtain NOCs from existing creditors and authorities.
10. Publication of Notice: Publish a notice about the conversion in newspapers as mandated.
11. Issuance of Certificate: Once you meet all requirements, you will receive a fresh certificate of incorporation.
12. Update Pan and Tan: PAN and TAN details with the tax authorities.
13. Update Other Registrations: If applicable, update other registrations like GST.
14. Transfer of Assets and Liabilities: Transfer assets and liabilities under the conversion terms.
15. Compliance with Post-Conversion Requirements: Ensure ongoing compliance with regulations applicable to the new entity.
Tumblr media
Documents Required for Conversion:
Memorandum and Articles of Association (updated)
Board and Shareholders Resolutions
Application for Conversion
NOCs from Creditors
Copy of Newspaper Publication
Updated PAN and TAN
Updated GST Registration (if applicable)

I don’t think I’ve ever met another trans person whose changed their full name.
First Middle Last
That’s what I did when I corrected my name and people found it so odd. But the only connection I have to those names are memories of trauma, and those are memories I want to leave behind. Especially since I was never that person, so why would I want those names attached to me?
So that I could live with the constant reminder that I am an outsider in my own family?
I corrected my full name in order to help me heal from the trauma I suffered from the people who were supposed to be my family. I don’t understand why that’s so strange.

boys i'm starting to think building a society where the primary imperative of business is to make as big a profit as possible might have been a bad idea
lads stop me if i'm wrong, but was it a mistake to make money so central to our society that rich people become functionally omnipotent?
gents i can't believe i'm saying this but am i wrong for not trusting the private sector to have my best interests at heart??

dysphoric + living in a red-leaning us state culture is rushing to legally transition before your state further restricts or bans it
Dysphoric culture is!
Also, mod’s dad recently said something to the effect of "haha [mod] better get a legal name and gender change soon before it's banned in the state and a new president takes [mod's] federal X marker away" and laughed. The casual, jokey way cis people (even 'allies') discuss restrictions on legal transition as if they aren't unethical and ruin people's lives is just gross.
Mod hopes you're able to legally transition soon anon! Maybe there's a trans legal workshop near you that can help as well?

Did you man beam Drizzle? If so, why not just pair up Rustle with Cranberry instead? I get for the amazing ship name but I'm curious about the choice /gen
I totally forgot Drizzle's original gender, but also, I really don't want to overthink it. I'm so tired of overthinking it. I wanted CranberryDrizzle funny ship name and it was getting exhausting to plan out where every pairing in several hundred cats would be getting their kits from
Rustle is going to die at some point after having two QR kittens, and Cranberrydrizzle is going to have 2 important litters (Sunstrike and Emberfoot in the first, Fernstripe in the second). I have done an exhausting amount of work (weeks of planning and hours of work at a time, scouring the wiki and facebook screenshots, redrawing tangles, reading through suggestions, writing out full posts of changes and creating new groups with their own histories) untangling broken fragments of family trees and like... I'm tired. No more shuffling. I deserve Funny Ship Name. is this too much to ask
Boy Drizzle is just the easiest answer. I'd like for Drizzle to just be transfem but I was also told to avoid cats being trans just to have kits, which is ALSO frustrating me at this point, I don't like this weight of "perfect representation" that's being put on me when I'M not even perfect representation as a living human queer.
Do I let Drizzle be transfem and "break a rule," or change them to a boy and "lose" a lesbian pairing? It feels gross to me to have fallen into a mindset where I'm treating queer relationships like quotas or rigid rulesets
I feel like if I 'get something wrong' (like forget the gender of a Missing Kit or a side character, or handwave 'where did these kits come from' with 'trans/queen's rights' without considering a real secret surrogate) I'm going to get smacked upside the head and be forced to hyperfocus on one small part of a massive project when I already have a million other things to work on.
So unfortunately the most honest answer I can probably give is that im tired. I'm really tired. Overthinking minor details before making every single tumblr post is draining me. I forgot the missing kit's original author-assigned gender and didn't scroll to the bottom of Onestar's wiki page to check it before posting. I like the ship name. Cranberrysplash somehow gets pregnant twice, but I was told to avoid trans bioparents, yet doing that is making things even harder after I had to do weeks of work to make a good tree in the first place
I'll figure out Drizzlefall's gender when they become relevant in some context

The truly sad thing is that TRAs are not going to take a moment for self reflection and look at the perverts that have overun the TQ+ movement. Instead they are going to lash out at "TERFs".
Judges have ruled that the UK government acted lawfully in blocking Scotland's gender self-ID reforms.
Legislation making it easier for people to change their legally-recognised sex was passed by the Scottish Parliament last year.
The UK government blocked it from becoming law over fears it would impact on equality laws across Great Britain.
The Court of Session in Edinburgh has now rejected a Scottish government legal challenge to the veto.
The Scottish government has 21 days to decide whether it wants to appeal against the ruling, and the case could ultimately end up in the Supreme Court in London.
The legislation received cross-party support in Holyrood, passing by 86 votes to 39 after a highly-charged debate.
Campaigners against the reforms warned the legislation could risk the safety of women and girls in same-sex spaces such as hospital wards and refuges.
Supporters argued it would make the process of obtaining a gender recognition certificate (GRC) easier and less traumatic for trans people.
The legislation would remove the need for trans people to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria by a doctor before they are allowed to change their legally-recognised sex in Scotland, and would lower the age that someone can apply for a GRC from 18 to 16.
The period in which applicants would need to have lived in their acquired gender would be cut from two years to three months.
The UK government stepped in to block the bill from receiving royal assent after it was passed by MSPs, using powers contained in section 35 of the Scotland Act for the first time.
Scottish Secretary Alister Jack raised concerns that the reforms could adversely impact on the 2010 Equality Act, which applies in Scotland, England and Wales and sets out protections for groups including women and transgender people.
Tumblr media
The Scottish government challenged the move at the Court of Session - Scotland's highest civil court - with its top law officer, Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain, arguing that Mr Jack did not have "reasonable grounds" to block the bill.
Ms Bain also claimed that if the UK government was successful, Westminster "could veto practically any act of the Scottish Parliament having an impact on reserved matters because he disagreed with it on policy grounds".
But in her written ruling, judge Lady Haldane dismissed the Scottish government's appeal and said the block on the legislation was lawful.
She said Mr Jack followed correct legal procedures when he made his decision to invoke section 35 and that the Scottish government had failed to show that he had made legal errors.
The judge wrote: "I cannot conclude that he (Mr Jack) failed in his duty to take such steps as were reasonable in all the circumstances to acquaint himself with material sufficient to permit him to reach the decision that he did."
Lady Haldane also said that "Section 35 does not, in and of itself, impact on the separation of powers or other fundamental constitutional principle. Rather it is itself part of the constitutional framework."
Welcoming the judgement, Mr Jack said it "upholds my decision to prevent the Scottish government's gender recognition legislation from becoming law".
He added: "I was clear that this legislation would have had adverse effects on the operation of the law as it applies to reserved matters, including on important Great Britain-wide equality protections.
"Following this latest court defeat for the Scottish government, their ministers need to stop wasting taxpayers' money pursuing needless legal action and focus on the real issues which matter to people in Scotland - such as growing the economy and cutting waiting lists."
Tumblr media
Alister Jack blocked the legislation because of its potential impact on equalities law that applies across Scotland, England and Wales
Humza Yousaf decided to proceed with the legal challenge shortly after succeeding Nicola Sturgeon - a passionate supporter of trans rights - as first minister earlier this year.
Writing on X, formerly Twitter, he described the ruling as a "dark day for devolution".
Mr Yousaf said: "Today's judgment confirms beyond doubt that devolution is fundamentally flawed. The court has confirmed that legislation passed by a majority in Holyrood can be struck down by Westminster.
"The only way to guarantee we get true self-government is through independence. Sovereignty should lie with the people of Scotland, not a Westminster government we didn't vote for with the ability to overrule our laws."
He was the only one of the three candidates in the SNP leadership contest who backed taking legal action and the issue has been deeply divisive within the party.
Colin Macfarlane, director of nations at LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall, said the ruling would "mean more uncertainty for trans people in Scotland who will be waiting once again to see whether they will be able to have their gender legally recognised through a process that is in line with leading nations like Ireland, Canada and New Zealand."
Labour's shadow Scottish secretary Ian Murray said it was "disappointing this legalisation ended in the courts but this ruling should be respected".
Shortly after the reforms were passed, double rapist Isla Bryson - who changed gender after being arrested for attacking two women - was remanded to a women's jail.
Bryson was subsequently moved to a male prison after the case sparked widespread anger. The Scottish government said the new legislation had no impact on the decision about where Bryson was held.
As befitting an unprecedented case, this is in Lady Haldane's words a "novel and complex" ruling.
She actually concluded in part that this is a situation where many decisions could have been taken, and that "there is possibly no single right answer" - but that the courts should only intervene in the case of a clear error in law.
The judge concluded that Alister Jack was entitled to make a decision on this, and that he had taken the proper steps to come to a view, without going into the even knottier territory of whether it was the right one.
All of that complexity means there could be room for appeal.
The Scottish government will be combing through the ruling to see if there are grounds to go back to court.
Mr Jack has urged them not to, telling them not to waste public funds on further legal action.
But ministers will perhaps put more weight on the position of the Scottish Greens, their partners in government, who are absolutely furious about the "horrible, heartbreaking and unjust" outcome.
Challenging UK ministers on this has been a red line for the Greens in the past. It may be that Scottish ministers have little choice but to fight on if they are to keep their partnership government together.
