Yandere rich single dad falling for his daughter's nanny/babysitter!
Cw: fem reader! jealousy, possessive/obsessive tendencies, father-daughter plotting on you, you’ve got an pushy coworker,
Synopsis: 【You were just a normal office worker with a minimum wage. So in an effort to pay rent, you scrounged job offers for babysitting since you were good at handling children. And in the process you applied and got accepted to become a nanny for a rich former movie star’s daughter. The daughter apparently hated every nanny she got but once she met you she was absolutely smitten…And so was her Daddy.】
Pt2→ 《x》
☆*:.。..。.:*☆ ☆*:.。..。.:*☆ ☆*:.。..。.:
Yandere rich Dilf! Who continues to pace back and forth in his house, his anticipation growing as the seconds count down. He knows that you must be getting off work soon, and that you'll be coming back to him ahem to take care of his little brat and him before too long.
Yandere rich Dilf! That tries to distract himself, focusing on making sure everything is prepared for your arrival. He excused all the servants so he can personally oversee that everything in his mansion was set up to perfection. He was sweating like a madman.
Yandere rich Dilf! Who couldn’t shake the feeling of jittery excitement that's building within him. Eventhough he was hailed as a famous handsome actor he couldn’t get his shit together at the thought of finally making moves on his darling. This poor man was practically leaning against the counter for life support. From how he got swept up by the plan his nosey daughter concocted. Which was for him to seduce you into making you completely theirs.
Yandere rich Dilf! Whose daughter was already in full support of making her sweet nanny into her new mommy. And was smart enough to call her playmates ahead of time. So her Dad can give her the sibling she’s always been asking for. Since she was tired of being the only child in the huge mansion.
As the clock ticks down the minutes foretelling of your arrival. Quio starts to feel a sense of nervousness mixed with impatience, knowing that it was almost game time.
“Cmon Dad you can’t be looking like a wimp, it’s time for you to man up! By the time I get back I expect to have a mommy and a little brother on the way. Understood?”
His daughter, Peina chastised as she whacked him on the back and continued to threaten him give him encouragement before she left to see her friends.
"Okay, okay, Understood you prima donna."
Quio sassed with an heavy eye roll from how his bossy his daughter was. I mean sure he knows that she gets that from him. But at the same time it’s surreal to be at the receiving end of having orders being barked at you. Soon enough there’s a signature knock at the door, which makes Peina perk up. As she giddily skips towards the door to greet her beloved nanny.
“Gah wait! I’m not mentally prepared yet! Are ya really tryna give yer old man a heart attack?! How heartless can you be?”
He practically whispered yelled in an attempt to halt his daughter hand from twisting open the knob. As his heart raced at the speed of sound from the thought of seeing his apparent future missus crush. His daughter merely gave him a judgmental glare and promptly flipped him off. Mouthing to him ‘Get it together’ leaving him utterly offended. He was an A-listed actor damn it. Before flinging open the door to greet her Nanny with a big hug to their waist.
“Nana who’s this with you?”
At his daughter’s pointed inquiry, Quio nearly trips over his feet as he hauls ass to the door. His tall and bulky build moving as gracefully as a one legged flamingo. When he peeks his head out only to bite back a bitchy grimace at the sight of you with your so called nice colleague. Oh how he hated that pretentious asshole’s guts despite not knowing a damn thing about the man.
"Uh heya, Sweetheart it’s so good to see ya. I never get tired of seeing your gorgeous face!“
The Dilf crooned with a heavy twang to his voice as he blatantly ignored the little pest hanging to your side. His daughter felt the same way as she outwardly glared at your coworker while she purposefully tugged you closer to her Dad’s direction.
“Aha you flatter me too much Mr. Evinis. Also this is Miki he just so happened to see me and wanted to say hello”
You hummed lightly always finding the rugged single father to be charming. Completely, missing his subtle glance over at Miki, his serpentine eyes studying his potential love rival with thinly concealed disgust . He can't help but feel extremely jealous of the way that Miki is able to freely hang around you because yall worked at the same office. God, would it be too overkill to just buy the company you worked at so he could freely stalk watch you from 9-5.
"Hey, it’s nice to meet you man. But wow you’ve got an amazing house”
Your colleague says with a grin, holding out a hand for Quio to shake. Both him and his daughter stared down with an ick at the outstretched sweaty hand of the slime ball. And in order to keep up appearances in front of his soon to be wife. The Dilf inwardly sighed and begrudgingly took Miki's hand into an bruising iron grip. his eyes still fixed on you as he tries to focus on the conversation.
"Uh huh, Nice to meet you pal. Well, come on in, make yourself at home Sweet— "
“Don’t mind if I do! Oh my god is that the newest gaming console?”
Quio was soon interrupted by your colleague who had the audacity to grab you by the shoulders and usher you inside his mansion. Did he say that fucking parasite was invited? No, so why the hell did that cockblocking bitch think it was okay to scamper his mousy ass inside his mansion. Only meant for his lovely wife, his daughter, and him, alone. He was definitely going to call pest control afterwards to make sure the problem wouldn’t occur again.
Veins popped out around his neck as the Dilf nearly broke the door handle in utter rage. While numerous murderous thoughts about curb stomping the shit outta Miki crossed his mind like a freight train. And his daughter was the splitting image of him. She was appalled by how that leech just snatched her mommy nanny away from her grasp. And she balled her tiny fists with a small snarl present as she snapped her head up to give her Father a knowing look.
“Dad!…”
“Yeah I know squirt, I’ll make sure to have a real good chat with the fucker— I mean guy. You’ll get your sibling and mommy soon enough.”
Quio said in a hushed tone with an undertone of venomous certainty. Which made Peina somewhat pleased as she curtly nodded off at her Dad.
“Now run along and stay outta grown folks business”
He huffed lightly nudging his daughter further outside their residence. To which she gave an equally heavy eye roll mirroring his that he gave her a couple minutes ago. Before she started trotting off towards her friend’s chauffeur car that just pulled up for their play date.
Yeah he’d make damn sure that you’d be his pretty darling mama for him and his baby girl. Afterall he’s a man of his word and he promised to deliver. Nothing would stand in his way of achieving whatever he wanted. And he sure as hell isn’t letting Miki from the stupid parts and services department. Get away with the disrespect of having the gall to touch you without some form of bloody repercussions.
Lmk If you guys like him. If so, I’ll write some more or make a part two (>^ω^<)

Let it Be Close-watch
Paul, sweety, it's beautiful, but it's killing the vibe.
Ringo looks like a very old, very tired lab rat whose been put through the maze a few too many times
Tumblr media
Somehow the air-brown mostly eaten apple is very appropriate.
She looks far too sweet here to ever let John down. Yoko has very kind eyes.
Tumblr media
I love how it makes it seem like Paul and John are calling Maxwell “the corny one” but really we know from Get Back that they're talking about a particular arrangement they were trying out for Don't Let me Down.
I swear he's saying “John” there, not “Joan” and also he said “came down upon His head” so… Oh! And Max died in the end in this version? “Sure that Max was dead” Okay. So Paul kills John and then himself. Murder suicide story. Yeah, Paul, you're doing great mentally, we can all tell.
I love how George getting electrocuted was important enough to make the cut for both films. Poor baby. “If this boy dies you're gonna cop it” from the guy who was just singing about a serial killer.
They're so silly
Tumblr media
Yoko does not agree with me
Tumblr media
Paul: stealing your man, sweetheart. John: oh no I'm being stolen teehee!
Tumblr media
They're so silly
Tumblr media
Oh wait, were those bitchy looks at George??? Because there he is. Idk could easily be him or Yoko.
this poor autistic baby trying to use words (not his language) to explain music (his language)
Tumblr media
“Good MoOornin! Wooah!” I think I just … You know how Mike said people were booing Paul in the theater watching this? Yeah it's because they were pissed he didn't step out of the screen and onto their necks.
Tumblr media
Oh Michael put himself in his own movie too? Huh, cool.
They are always in my heart
Tumblr media
The way Paul says “get on the mic” to John??? I would've thrown something, that was so fucking bossy! Just his tone and his face and his angry pointing fingers. So mean. And John just goes “okaaay”. Oof.
Ringo covering his eyes like a little kid watching a scary movie during the orange sweater fight. Same, babe.
Sounds like the original lyric John's going for is something long “All I want is you. Nothing else is gonna do.” But that obviously didn't fit with the tune. I wonder if there was a particular conversation with Paul being controlling that made the “everything has got to be the way you want it to” line click in.
Oh my gosh! So George is showing I Me Mine to Ringo and Paul and he says the “I don't give a fuck it can go in musical” line before he even plays it. Not after John's making fun of him like he does in Get Back. Nagra reels experts: which one is correct??
George: it's a heavy waltz. Ringo:*claps hands angrily and punches the air to a ¾ beat. I love him, he's like the core of “Beatle humor” to me.
Woah there! Okay this is the John/Yoko pda Peter Jackson cut, I see. I wonder if there's a lot more footage of them swapping spit that might make the “oh John was just so in love” theory more reasonable.
Tumblr media
It's extremely impressive that George just wrote this whole thing last night. You know? John and Paul have brought in all fragments from what I can tell. He's the only one to come in with a basically finished product.
LMAO and we're just going to Apple now. No reason. Nothing happened. Nothing to see. Moving on.
Ringo is so so cute pretending to hide from the cameras. Really he should've been the cute one.
Tumblr media
Is it just me or does Paul drop the sillies and get sad when he sings “always be mine” at John? It's his regular voice, too, for a minute, if I'm not mistaken.
Silly cuties. But John's grin and little sexy tongue action happens the second time Paul sings always be mine, so…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What friendly artistic collaboration looks like when it's not psychosexual
Tumblr media
Paul: have you played the dubs? George: yeah. Terrible. Paul: Great! Ringo: terrible. John: laughs Paul: (sarcastic) oh, so dreadful. …. John: where's my guitar? Paul: (still sarcastic) well we're just the greatest band ever. Idk I just like this dialogue. It's very them, you know?
This is adorable.
Tumblr media
But I also love how they're already communicating with eyebrows, you know? They just bonded so fast and I find that beautiful.
And then Heather ups their game from taking turns going “chchchchch” into the mic to meowing into the mic. She looks at Paul like “okay your turn” and he sets her down lol he's thinking ‘if I meow into the mic right now after John already had a sex dream last night about me, he might actually cream his pants and we can't have that on camera’
Lol Billy just magically appeared!
Paul you're literally so annoying. You started the goofing off and now you're like “alright lads, that's enough.” Mkay.
He is unbelievably sexy and talented though so you know he does have those little things going for him. Someone write me a Paul/Billy fic please!!
Tumblr media
Kinda crazy how they all four just slide straight from “Kansas City” to “Miss Ann” to “Lawdy Miss Claudy”. Makes me think of something they might've done in Hamburg.
I'm sorry but Paul finishes “please don't excite me baby. I'm down in misery.” And John's immediate answer is, “well you can get it if you want it, and if you want it you can get it!” And Paul ends up singing “I want it I want it I want it I want it”. Nice. Very subtle, boys. And that's before John gets kinky.
I love how Heather just forces a hug from George and then immediately runs away. What a cutie.
But really. How did anyone watching this get the idea that John hated Paul? Just confirmation bias I guess?
Tumblr media
All the cut off conversations kill me but especially the one where John's working though Paul's anxieties. They're just in the middle of it and then cut. “two of us Sunday driving…”
Someone should do a study of whistling in their songs. I feel like it's another one of their tip offs that “hey this one is about us” Anyway I love John's whistling here. He's so good at it. I can just imagine him as some farm boy picking apples, you know?
Imagine booing this poor stay puppy though, like. What? I mean, what if Johann Weiner was wrong and John wasn't crying at the sight of him and Paul playing triumphant together on the rooftop, but at Paul playing his little heart out about their doomed love. Idk it's probably both. Let's be real, John was bawling through the whole thing.
Tumblr media
What is George laughing at? Picture quality is garbage because evil corporations don't let you take screenshots of their content, but he looks like that one kid in your elementary school class that just dumped Cheetos all over his crushes desk and thinks he's a criminal mastermind.
Also I do appreciate all the attention given in the chosen shots to the musicianship. I bet they liked that at least if they had the heart to like anything about the movie at the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sorry but I love how in sync Mo and Paul are. With this ducking and later the shimmying. I know it's wrong to ship Ringo’s wife with one of the Beatles she didn't sleep with, but… idk I really want her to have bedded all four at one point, you know? She deserves it, being an og.
Okay but yeah I'd be having a public meltdown if I fumbled that too holy fucking shit
Tumblr media
Ringo feeling himself as he should
Tumblr media
George just looks like he smells nice. Unlike the others. You know?
John has such a beautiful smile. If somebody looked at me like that I'd put him up on a giant screen behind me on my world tour after he'd been dead for forty years too.
Tumblr media
That pleeeaaaheeeaaase though. Looking at Paul. How did he survive I'll never know.
The cut from screaming Paul to grouchy nap lady is extremely painful.
John was so cool in this concert. Like the epitome of cool.
Tumblr media
Kevin, my love, thank you for your service
I love Yoko leaning so far and craning her neck. She's like a mom at a school talent show. Like “I only came to see my baby.” Type vibe. Which is exactly what she's doing, unlike Mo, and honestly I find both of them extremely valid
You know in movies where the romantic leads are never looking at each other at the same time?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think I watched George and John switching back on their amps like fifty times because I just love it so much. And from this angle, you can see John's saying something to Paul about it. He looks serious and he's shaking his head. I wonder what he's saying.
Mal Evans I love you forever for this. Look at his hand on the rail, just blocking them off completely, so protective.
Tumblr media
Them turning to each other at the end always gets me. It's automatic, like second nature, and it's the last time ever. They deserved better.
Tumblr media
Oh Darling duet in the credits are you fucking kidding me??? Was that in the original? “Believe me, when I tell you.” “Oh I do.” That's the second time that they gave away in this footage that they know they're talking to each other in their music.
Alright, that's it, I guess. And then MLH is haunted by this experience for forty years until he makes Two of Us to purge the demons.

written for @steddielovemonth Day 7 prompt: Love is: Silently passing them a pickle because you know it’s their favorite. Rating: T (for suggestive language) | no cw
Eddie wouldn’t call Steve a push over, he’s witnessed him annihilate the kids with a bitchy retort and a pointed stare too many times for it to be true, but there are times when Steve’s soft center oozes out, allowing the ones he loves to walk all over him.
Like when it comes to food.
Eddie’s always known Steve’s willing to share his food with his friends. He witnessed it enough times in the Hawkins High cafeteria — Steve wordlessly passing Tommy his unopened applesauce seconds after he finished his own or scooting his tray closer to Carol when she opted for a salad and looked at her choice with regret.
It’s only gotten worse though.
Now, Steve’s plate barely gets set in front of him before there are hands making passes at it. Dustin’s grubby paws snatching the pickle spear from the plate, Max and Erica harvesting his fries until all that’s left are the burnt and wonky ones, Mike and Lucas occasionally shoveling spoonfuls of Mac and cheese into their mouths before it’s even had a chance to cool. Even Robin gets in on it, swiping a slice of garlic toast from his plate like some feral bird.
And Steve never says anything.
Well, most of the time.
If anyone ever takes something he really wants — like the time Dustin tried to get a sip of his Neapolitan shakes a few weeks back — bitchy Steve comes out in force, defending his food with the same ferocity he used to rip a demobat apart with his bare hands in the Upside Down.
With that knowledge in mind, Eddie comes to the conclusion that pickles, fries, Mac and cheese, and occasionally thick slices of garlic toast are low on Steve’s favorite food list.
So, one can imagine Eddie’s surprise when he excuses himself from the movie marathon going on in the living room of Steve’s place in search of a beer refill to find Steve chomping on a pickle spear in the bright light of the fridge.
The sight is something, sure. Especially the way Steve’s sweatpants strain against his ass as he squats to put the jar back. But Eddie doesn’t want to get caught intruding on Steve’s secret pickle whims so he quietly retreats to the living room — beerless, sure, but with a lot on his mind that he doesn’t even care.
If Steve liked pickles all this time, why hasn’t he told Dustin off for always stealing his? And if he’s secretly harboring a love of pickles, what else is he selflessly giving up without anyone knowing? Does Robin know about his pickle love affair?
Eddie spends the rest of the night rethinking everything he’s thought he’s ever known about Steve until he’s so worked up he makes up some lame excuse about needing to help Wayne with some yard work in the morning and leaves right in the middle of the third movie of the night.
On his drive home, he comes to the conclusion that he’s not going to let Steve miss out on pickles anymore. Not if he can help it.
Operation Save Steve’s Pickle gets put in motion the following day when Eddie is summoned via Dustin’s booming voice over the walkie-talkie to lunch to make up for his abrupt departure last night.
It’s business as usual so far in the diner, just with fewer faces. Steve, Robin, and Dustin are the only ones in attendance today, making the corner booth more spacious than it has ever been.
Eddie feels the adrenaline coursing through his veins as the waiter approaches with their food. He might not be running for his life this time around, but his heart sure hasn’t gotten the memo practically beating out of his chest in anticipation of what he’s about to do.
Like clockwork, Steve’s plate is set in front of him and Dustin’s hand snatches the pickle without a second thought. The little shit even has the audacity to take a bite, juices pouring down his chin, as he lets them all know that it’s the best pickle yet.
Eddie wants to strangle him, but he refrains and sticks to the plan. When Steve’s preoccupied lathering his burger in more ketchup than one person should consume, he picks up his untouched pickle spear and slides it onto Steve’s plate.
“Are you giving Steve your pickle right now?” Dustin screeches, drawing the attention of everyone in the crowded diner.
“Maybe don’t phrase it like that, please,” Robin chimes in, burying her face in her hands in embarrassment.
Eddie can’t help but bark out a laugh before glancing at Steve who hasn’t broken eye contact with the pickle on his plate. He’s pretty sure he sees the smallest twitch of his lips, threatening to pull into a real smile but gets interrupted from watching the sight by Dustin’s hand. Eddie swats it away.
“What the hell!” Dustin groans, massaging the back of his reddening hand. “If you’re going to share your pickle, you should give it to me, not Steve. He doesn’t even like them”
“Except he does.”
“No, he doesn’t.”
“Steve,” Eddie huffs, turning in the booth to face him. “Can you please tell this insufferable know-it-all that you do like pickles? Like them so much you have a secret jar in your fridge?”
“I mean, yeah I do—wait how do you know about the secret jar?”
“I caught you eating one last night.”
“You have a secret jar of pickles in your fridge that you’ve never told me about?”
“That is what secret means,” Steve deadpans, rolling his eyes. “You get my pickle every time we come here. Why should I share them at home too?”
“This is a betrayal of epic proportions!” Dustin whines.
“Oh can it, Henderson. Go back to eating your lunch and let Stevie here enjoy a pickle from Sue’s for once in his life!”
Surprisingly, the kid actually listens to Eddie and the table launches into silence except for the crunching of fries and pickles in Dustin’s case because Steve still hasn’t touched his.
Eddie nudges Steve’s forearm, “Better get to it before Henderson makes another pass for it.”
“We could share?”
“No need. This one’s all you.”
Steve gives Eddie one of his uncharacteristically soft smiles before taking a heaping bite out of the pickle. Juice dribbles down Steve’s chin but he doesn’t seem to mind judging by the pure bliss on his face. Eyes closed and head tipped back as if he…
Jesus H. Christ
Maybe giving Steve his pickle wasn’t a good idea after all.
“Holy shit,” Steve moans, taking another bite. “This is the best pickle I’ve ever tasted. Thanks, Eddie.”
Eddie's stunned for a moment, eyes locked on Steve's throat, watching as he swallows before he comes to his senses.
“You can have my pickle anytime, Stevie,” he says without thinking, high off Steve's pickle-drunk expression.
It is not until Robin groans and they all erupt into a fit of laughter does the euphemism lands on Eddie. He didn’t mean it like that, not in the slightest. But hey, if Steve wants that pickle too, Eddie’s sure as hell not going to say no.

Eddie Munson x Pregnant!Henderson!reader
This was inspiration from the "I'm a planet" scene from the movie "Juno"
I took the "I'm a planet" line and formed a story around it, so I hope you guys like it !
Warnings: FWB situation, angst, teen pregnancy, mentions of weed, mentions of absent fathers, swearing, implied smut with no actual smut, Eddie is a jerk in this one but he gets better
Word count: 3971
A/N: This story has A LOT of dialogue
Y/n and Eddie Munson weren't an item. You weren't even friends, just friendly, very friendly, acquaintances. You had met at a house party during Eddie's first senior year. You were a junior at the time and didn't really know anyone at the party. Eddie seemed very disinterested in what was going on, just sitting outside by the pool, rolling a joint.
"Hey." She greeted, making the metalhead look up at her from behind his bangs. "I'm Y/n."
"Eddie." He said, his attention going back to the nearly rolled joint. Y/n shuffled her feet and cleared her throat.
“This party’s kinda lame.” She said, trying her best to strike up a conversation.
“Yeah,” He nodded, fully looking at her. “But it’s whatever.”
“Yeah.” She nodded, awkwardly. “Listen, Eddie, I-”
“Wanna get out of here?” He asked, blowing smoke out of his mouth.
“What?” She stuttered.
“Is that why you’re talking to me?” Eddie asked. “You want a hookup.”
“I mean,” She hadn’t initially come over to ask him for a hookup, but when a cute guy offers… you take up that offer.
“I’m down if you are.” Eddie shrugged.
That’s what landed her in this situation. She was now in her senior year, Eddie was in his second senior year. They had been casually having sex with each other. Y/n would call Eddie when she needed him, he would call her when he needed her, etc, etc. They had been very careful. Every time they saw each other, they were careful. But I guess they weren’t so cautious this time, since Y/n was staring at the blue liquid in the cup that sat on her bathroom sink. She held her head in her hands and sobbed.
“Y/n?” Dustin knocked on the door. “Are you okay?”
“Just fine, Dusty.” She said. She grabbed the cup and dumped it into the toilet. She wrapped the box up with toilet paper and buried it in the garbage can. She opened the bathroom door to see her younger brother standing there with his Hellfire shirt on.
“What’s going on?” He asked, seeing her red-rimmed eyes. Y/n sniffled and shook her head.
“Nothing that you should worry about.” She said, patting him on the shoulder as she walked down the hallway. “But hurry up before we’re late for school.”
Y/n was gathering her books from her locker, listening to Robin talk about a customer she had to deal with at work the other day. Normally, Y/n would be complaining with her, but she had too much on her mind. She’s pregnant now… and Eddie Munson is the father.
“Earth to Y/n.” Robin snapped her fingers in front of Y/n’s eyes, making the girl look at her. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, Robin.” She answered, quickly. “Nothing’s wrong.”
“No,” Robin shook her head. “No, something’s definitely wrong. You love hearing about bitchy customers.”
“I’m sorry.” Y/n sighed, closing her locker. “I’m just a little stressed out, that’s all.”
“Test today?” She asked, to which Y/n nodded just to avoid further questions.
“Yeah, math.” Y/n shrugged. “I’ll get over it.”
“It’ll be fine.” Robin assured her with a supportive smile. “You always do great!”
“Yeah.”
Y/n watched as Eddie dramatically talked to the boys at the lunch table. She needed to tell him sooner rather than later, but she didn’t want to do it with anyone around. Especially not Dustin. To everyone at Hawkins, Y/n and Eddie had nothing to do with each other. They were strangers. To Dustin, Eddie and Y/n only ever say hi to each other when she would pick him up from Hellfire meetings. That’s all. Eddie and Y/n are complete strangers.
Six o’clock rolled around and Y/n walked through the empty hallways to pick up Dustin. She felt like passing out. She wasn’t sure how’d she react when she saw Eddie, but she needs to tell him. She sat down on a bench in the hallway and waited for Dustin to come out of the room. She was there for about five minutes before Dustin and the rest of Hellfire came out of the room.
“Good work, gentlemen.” Eddie said, shutting the door behind him. “We’ll see you next week for the continuation of our adventure!” They boys smiled and nodded at Eddie. As they were saying bye to each other, Eddie’s eyes met Y/n’s. He smiled and nodded at her, to which she tried to return.
“Ready to go, Dusty?” She asked, grabbing Dustin’s backpack from his shoulders.
“Actually,” Dustin scratched the back of his neck nervously. “I tried to call you and tell you earlier that I was going to Mike’s after this.”
“So you’re telling me that I drove here for nothing?” Y/n asked, irritated.
“I called home.” Dustin said. “But mom said you weren’t home. I’m sorry.”
“Whatever, Dustin.” She shook her head. “Just call when you get to Mike’s.” Dustin thanked his sister and walked down the hall with Mike and Lucas. Once they were all gone, Y/n found herself pushed against the club room door, Eddie’s lips pressed against hers. His hands grasped her waist as Eddie pushed his hips against hers, making her quietly moan.
“Eddie,” She mumbled against his lips, her hands on his shoulders. Eddie kissed down her face and attached his lips to her neck, immediately finding her sweet spot, making her knees weak. “Eddie, wait.”
“You wanna take this to the van?” He asked, still kissing her neck.
“No, Eddie.” She said, pushing him away slightly. “I don’t want to have sex right now.”
“Oh.” He frowned. “Oh, I’m sorry. I thought-”
“But I do need to talk to you.” She interrupted. “Can we go somewhere private? I kinda don’t want to have this conversation in a school hallway.”
“Yeah.” He nodded. “Yeah, let’s go into the room.” Eddie opened the door, allowing Y/n to go in first. She sat down in one of the seats at the table and waited for Eddie to close the door and sit by her.
“So…” Eddie trailed off. “What did you need to talk about?”
“You know how we’ve been uhm…” She waved her hands slightly, trying not to say the word.
“Yeah, yeah,” He nodded. “Do you- do you not want to keep doing it?”
“No, no,” She shook her head. “That’s not what I need to talk about.”
“Then what is it?” Y/n paused, her throat closing and mouth going dry.
“Eddie,” She quietly said, tears forming in her eyes. “I-”
“Woah, hey,” Eddie stood and sat in the chair directly next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. “You’re scaring me.”
“I’m pregnant.” She sobbed.
“What?” His eyes went wide. He pulled his arm away from her and looked at her in shock. “H-how do you know?”
“I took an at-home test.” She wiped away her tears.
“But are you sure they’re accurate?” He asked. “I mean-”
“Eddie,” She began to become frustrated. “I haven’t had my period in months.” Eddie stood from the chair and began to pace around the room, running his hands through his hair.
“How do you know it’s mine?” He asked, making Y/n angry.
“Are you serious, Eddie?” She asked, watching him pace around the room. “You are the only person I’ve had sex with. Ever!”
“Well,” Eddie flailed his arms around. “How are you going to fix this?”
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying,” Eddie began to shout. “How are you going to get rid of it? This doesn’t just affect you, Y/n.”
“I’m keeping my baby, Eddie.” She said, quietly. “Whether you’re in its life or not, I am having this baby.”
“Fuck, Y/n!” Eddie shouted. “This isn’t fair!”
“Not fair?” She laughed, humorlessly. “Are you serious?”
“I can’t, Y/n.” He shook his head, walking towards the door. “I can’t do this.”
“Edward Munson, if you walk out that door you won’t ever see your baby!” Y/n shouted, tears streaming down her face.
“Maybe I don’t want to, Y/n.” With that, the door shut behind him, leaving Y/n to cry all alone. Fine. She'll do this alone if she has to.
“What’s been going on with you?” Dustin asked, walking into Y/n’s room. She sat up from her bed and looked at the boy.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You have been weird ever since a couple weeks ago.” Y/n looked into her brother’s eyes and became emotional. He saw her eyes tear up and he sat down on the bed next to her.
“Can you-” She gulped. “Can you close the door, please, Dusty. I gotta talk to you.”
“Yeah,” He nodded, getting up to shut the door. “What’s going on?” He sat back down and watched his sister cry.
“Dustin,” She sniffled. “You have to promise me that this stays between us, okay?”
“I promise.” She pursed her lips and took a deep breath.
“I’m pregnant.” She whispered to him, making his face drop.
“What?” He asked, beginning to cry himself. “Who-”
“The dad wants nothing to do with us.” She interrupted him. “And that’s not something for you to worry about.”
“Does mom know?” She shook her head, making his face fall.
“You’re the only one besides me that knows.” She sniffled, trying to stop crying.
"You need to tell someone." Dustin told her. "You need to tell mom."
"I know!" She rubbed her hands over her face. "I just don't know how. I'm going to break her heart."
"But she'll help you!" Dustin said, grabbing his sister's hand. There was a long pause of silence as Dustin watched his sister think.
"Can you help me tell her?"  She asked.
"I-I wouldn't know how!" Dustin frantically shook his head, his eyes wide with panic.
"Just-" She briefly thought. "Just be there to hold my hand? Can you do that for me, Dusty?"
"Of course I can." His eyes began to tear up again. "I'd do anything for you, Y/n, you're my big sister."
"Can we tell her tonight?" She asked, feeling a surge of courage. "I just… I don't want to feel lost anymore."
"Yeah," He nodded, nervously. "Yeah, if that's what you want."
"It doesn't matter what I want anymore." She scoffed. "She'll find out sooner or later."
"Then let's tell her."
"Mom?" Y/n asked, leaning against the doorway to the kitchen, where her mother stood washing dishes.
"Hi, sweetie pie!" Her mother quickly smiled at her. "Do you need something."
"Can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Uh oh." Her mother turned off the sink and began to try her hands. "Is this a girly problem?"
"Uhh…" She trailed off. It kind of was a girly problem, but not in the way her mom was probably thinking. "Kinda, yeah."
"Oh, okay," Her mom nodded, promptly putting the dish towel down and walking to her daughter. "Let's go to your room."
"Actually, can we do it in the living room?" She asked. "Dustin's gonna be there when I tell you."
"Okay." Her mother said with confusion. Y/n walked to the living room, her mother in suit, where Dustin sat on the couch waiting. Y/n sat at one end of the couch, her mother sitting at the other end, making Dustin the middleman.
"You two are scaring me." Their mother said, worry filling her eyes. Dustin's eyes began to fill with tears, making Claudia worry even more. "What is the matter with you two?!"
"Mom," Y/n began to cry. "I love you so much and I want you to know that."
"Y/n, I love you too." Claudia said. "But you need to tell me what's going on."
"I'm pregnant." She gulped nervously. "The father wants nothing to do with us and I'm keeping the baby." Claudia's jaw dropped, her hands shaking.
"What?" Her voice was shaking. "What do you mean?"
"I'm so sorry." Y/n cried, her face in her hands. "It was an accident."
"Who's the father?" She asked, making Y/n look at Dustin nervously.
"I-"
"Tell me, Y/n." Claudia demanded. "He needs to take responsibility for this!"
"I can't tell you!" Y/n nearly shouted. "He won't come around anyway, so it doesn't matter!"
"Doesn't matter?" Claudia scoffed. "He's the one that's going to pay child support. He's the one that's going to be this baby's father!"
"He doesn't want anything to do with us, mom!" She shouted. "He won't help even if I tell him to! Don't you understand?"
"I'm so disappointed in you." Claudia said, making Y/n cry harder.
"Mom," Dustin said, shocked with his mother. "Don't do this to her. She's upset as it is."
"You don't understand what this means, Dusty."
"Like hell I don't!" Dustin shouted, standing from the couch.
"Dusty!" Claudia gasped at her son's language.
"She's my sister! Your daughter!" Dustin said, matter of factly. "She came to you for help. She doesn't know what to do. She needs guidance!" Claudia blinked back tears and sighed. She leaned over the couch and grabbed onto Y/n's hands, making the young girl look into her eyes.
"I'm disappointed in you, Y/n." Claudia said, making Y/n choke back a sob. "But… I'm your mother and if you need help, then I'll provide it."
"Thank you, mom." Y/n smiled, slightly.
"But that doesn't mean I will do everything, Y/n." She conditioned. "I am the grandmother, not the mother of this baby."
"I know, mom." Y/n nodded. "I'll take all the help I can get."
After Y/n told her brother and mother about her pregnancy, she waited until she began to show slightly to tell her friends. They were shocked, especially Steve and Robin, but they were supportive nonetheless. Steve actually rolled his eyes and said that he can't wait to babysit another kid. She has never been more grateful for her friends, especially when she really began to show. The endless rumors of who the father was swarmed Hawkins like flies on shit. Y/n just ignored everything. They didn't need to know who the father was. They didn't need to know anything. But the rumors still got to her, as she had cried to Steve about it, him being the only male comfort for her besides her brother.
"I can be the father." He had said to her as she leaned her head on his shoulder, his arm around her shoulders.
"What?" She lifted her head off of his shoulder to look at him.
"If you want the questions about who the father is to stop," He began. "Just tell them I'm the father."
"No," She shook her head. "I can't do that to you, Steve. It'll ruin your reputation."
"You're one of my best friends, Y/n." He said. "I don't care about my reputation if it means I help you."
"You're really sweet, Steve." Y/n smiled, leaning her head back on his shoulder. "But… even though the father wants nothing to do with us, I don't think he'll appreciate someone else taking his place."
"Well," Steve sighed, pulling her closer. "If you ever change your mind, just let me know."
Y/n had thought about it for weeks. She really, honestly, was considering telling everyone that Steve's the father of her baby. But she felt it would be disrespectful to Eddie. Before this whole incident, she had started to consider him a friend. But now? Now they really were strangers. Strangers with a baby.
"Eddie." Y/n said, standing next to him at his locker. "We need to talk."
"About what?" He sighed, looking at her, his eyes momentarily locking onto her large stomach.
"I know you want nothing to do with us, but-"
"Shh!" He shushed her, grabbing the end of her jacket to pull her closer. "Could you be quiet about that shit?"
"I'm going to tell people that Steve's the father." She continued.
"Steve?" He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Yes, Steve Harrington." Eddie laughed and crossed his arms.
"What, you screwing him now too?" He scoffed. "Is that even safe for the baby?"
"Shut up, Munson!" She glared at him. "Steve's more of a man than you'll ever be. He's voluntarily stepping up to take care of a child that isn't even his!"
"You know, Y/n," Eddie smirked. "I still have your underwear." Y/n rolled her eyes and scoffed, crossing her arms.
"Well, I still have your virginity."
"Shut up!" He said, angrily glaring at her. "You know, I should be the one pissed off at you! You're ruining both of our lives by keeping this baby."
"How could your life be ruined when you're not even claiming parentage?" She nearly shouted.
"This affects me too and you know it!" He pointed a finger at her.
"Yeah, well at least the evidence isn't under your sweater!" Tears fell from her eyes, making Eddie's face soften up a bit. "Everyday I have to hear shit from people. You don't! So don't even start with that shit, Munson." With that, she stormed off, frantically wiping the tears from her eyes. Eddie scrunched up his face in anger and slammed his locker shut with a curse.
“She’s just been in such a bad mood lately.” Dustin said to the lunch table. “I don’t know w-”
“What do you know about your sister, Henderson?” Eddie said, slamming his hands down on the lunch table as soon as he arrived. It had been a few days since he talked with Y/n. The day after their little spat in the hallway, he began to hear people whispering that Steve Harrington was the father of Y/n’s baby. Now, Eddie will admit that he reacted badly when Y/n talked to him, but he didn’t actually think she’d tell people that Steve’s the father.
“I-” Dustin looked shocked at what his dungeon master and friend was asking him.
“Who’s the father of her baby?” He asked, his eyes crazed like a madman.
“Not you too.” Dustin groaned, rolling his eyes. “I thought you’d be different, Eddie.”
“Just-” He began to get angry. “Tell me what you know.”
“She doesn’t like when people talk about her, Eddie.” Dustin said.
“Henderson,” Eddie knelt down to his level, his hand grasping at the back of Dustin’s neck. “Who is the father?”
“Steve Harrington.” Dustin said. “Why are you so worried about it?”
“Damnit!” He hit the table again as he came to a stand, his eyes searching for Y/n in the crowded lunchroom. At least now Eddie knew why Dustin never seemed to be angry with him. Sure, Dustin is a sweet boy, but he was protective of his sister. Eddie was sure that if Dustin knew about Eddie and Y/n, he’d never speak to Eddie again, let alone still be a part of Hellfire.
“I know,” Dustin said. “I’m pretty mad at Steve too, but I’m at least thankful that he came to his senses and decided to take care of Y/n and their baby.”
“Where is she?” He suddenly asked after a few moments of silence.
“Home.” Dustin said, confusion written all over his face. “Why?” Eddie didn’t answer him. All he did was rush out of the lunchroom, pushing away anyone who got in his way. He needed to get to Y/n. He needed to talk to her.
“Y/n!” Eddie shouted, pounding on her front door. Eddie had only known where she lived because he had since been driving Dustin home from Hellfire meetings, since Y/n would never come anymore. “Y/n, please! Open the door.”
“What, Eddie?” Y/n asked upon opening the door. Eddie looked at her and noticed the black circles around her eyes, chapped lips, and rosy cheeks.
“Are you okay?” He asked, eyebrows furrowing with concern.
“As fine as I can be when a kid won’t stop making me puke.” She deadpanned. “Now what do you want?”
“Why are you telling people that Steve’s the father?” He asked, making Y/n sigh.
“I told you I was going to do that.” She shook her head in disbelief.
“I didn’t think you’d actually do it, Y/n.”
“Eddie, why do you even care?” She asked. “You don’t want us. Steve does.”
“Steve’s not my baby’s father.”
“Your baby?” Y/n scoffed. “It’s your baby now?”
“Y/n,”
“Once I start saying the baby is someone else’s it suddenly becomes your baby?” Y/n suddenly became sad. “You’re ridiculous, Eddie.”
"I take back what I said!" He shouted in desperation.
“Eddie-”
“Can we at least just talk about it?” He begged. “Please, sweetheart.” Y/n averted her eyes from his face, trying hard to get rid of the tears that burned the back of her eyes. With a quiet sigh, she nodded, making Eddie release a breath of relief. She opened the door wider and stood out of his way so he could come in.
“Okay, then,” Y/n began as she joined him at the dinner table. “Talk.”
“I reacted badly that day.” Eddie said, awkwardly. “And I’ve been a total dick.”
“You think?” She sassed.
“There’s honestly nothing that could make up for what I’ve done, for what I said, but” He reached towards her and grabbed her hand. “I want to be there. I want to be a father.”
“Why now?” She asked, shaking her head. “Is it because of Steve? Are you jealous?”
“I-” He was speechless. He wasn’t sure why he felt this way now. Perhaps he always wanted to be there, but just didn’t know how to react.
“Eddie,” She sighed, gripping the hand that held onto hers. “I won’t keep you from seeing our baby, but I don’t want you to be the person that comes in and out of their life like my dad did.”
“I always wanted to be there.” He admitted, eyes filled with hope. “But I just… Y/n, I didn’t have a good father. He was in and out of my life too. Either high off his ass or in jail. I just didn’t want to be like that too.”
“Eddie, I think you’re incapable of being a bad person.” She smiled slightly. “And I have the same worries. I’m afraid I won’t be a good mom. But it’s a learning process.” Eddie laughed with tears in his eyes.
“When did you get so wise?” He asked, making her laugh with him.
“I’ve been reading a lot of parenting books.” She smiled. “You can borrow them, if you’d like.”
“I might just take you up on that offer.” He smirked. There was a long pause of comfortable silence. Just two soon-to-be parents basking in the reality of their situation.
“Can I ask you something, Eddie?” She asked, breaking the silence. He nodded and looked into her eyes. “Did you ever feel anything for me? Like, more than friends?”
“I did.” He admitted. “I do now. I just… didn’t know if you liked me too.”
“I do.” She smiled.
“Then,” He smirked, standing up from his chair and pulling her towards him. He placed his hands on her belly and smiled at the feeling. He let his hands come to a rest at her sides and he looked at her. “Wanna go steady?”
“I’d love to.” She didn’t hesitate. “But now I have to explain that you’re the father.”
This was going to be a very long and very hard story to explain to what seemed like the entirety of Hawkins. It’s going to be even harder when she tells her mother and Dustin. But they both hoped that they didn’t hate them. They all had to understand, right? Dustin was understanding. Right?

I'm watching The Birdcage (with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane) and it made me think of Steddie of course. But in my head their version goes a bit different.
( this is so silly and goofy y'all. But i tried to capture both eddie and steve but also the dramatics and antics from the movie!! Haha! I hope you guys like it!!!! I miss writing comedy stuff, its so fun. Anyway, enjoy!!! )
So Dustin comes to them and tells them he and Susie are getting married and how her parents are like "gay is a no no" but Susie already loves Eddie and Steve just from what she's heard from Dustin and how much they love and care for him. Which is a given, Dustin would never be with someone who couldn't accept his dads.
Anyway, he brings the situation to them first and is like ... how do you guys wanna handle this? And Dustin cheekily says
"I was thinking maybe a disguise."
And Eddie and Steve, the dramatic bitches they are fucking POUNCE on the idea and they both say,
"I get to be the mom!" At the same time and then frown at each other in sync. Dustin fucking cackles. Steve slams his hands onto his hips and is like,
"I am clearly, the mom." His frown turning almost petulant. Eddie snorts and crosses his arms, looks Steve up and down and says,
"Yeah you've got the stance down, that's for sure." Shaking his head when Steve drops his arms hurriedly. Dustin pipes up.
"You could flip a coin." He's sitting on the couch now, watching them with bright eyes, smiling at their antics.
"Yes! I'll get the coin!" Eddie yells, bounding down the hall like a cat.
"Not the trick coin!" Steve yells after him, pointing his finger as Eddie stops in the hall, turns to look at him slowly.
"I wasn't gonna." He says slowly, unconvincing.
"Oh yeah? So you're gonna bring that coin in here. And it'll be fair when I pick heads?" Steve's hands land on his hips for a second before he rethinks it, pushes his glasses up his nose, and crosses his arms, raising his eyebrows at Eddie.
"You always pick tails." Eddie says, his eyes narrowed. Steve cocks his hip to the side.
"Not today honey." Steve's smile is sickeningly sweet. Eddie looks at him for a long moment. Really stares him down. Takes a deep breath. Holds it. Then lets it out.
"I will get a different coin." He points at Steve, who nods, eyebrows rising. But he smiles when Eddie turns and bops out of sight, shooting Dustin a wink. Dustin laughs, slapping his hands on his knees in a little enthusiastic drum roll.
Eddie comes bounding back down the hall, hand raised above his head, coin shining between his upheld fingers,
"Got it! Got it got it got i- oh god." He stumbles over something on the floor and then straightens upright quickly, his hair flipping to rest behind his shoulders.
"I'm okay!" He holds the coin up again. Steve reaches out, grabs his arms to steady him, his head shaking, a huge smile on his face.
"You good?" He chuckles. Eddie smiles brightly, nodding enthusiastically.
"Shall we?" He wiggles his eyebrows and the coin.
"Go for it." Steve says, all serious now. Eddie nods, flips the coin up into the air, catches it in his hand and slaps his hand down onto his other hand. Then levels a look at Steve. Steve smirks,
"Tails." He says, false sweetness lacing his voice. Eddie gasp, glares at him.
"You sick, son of a bitch." He hisses, his voice low. Both Dustin and Steve laugh, their heads falling back.
"Well go on sweetheart, let's see it." Eddie's eyes narrow again, he bites his lip.
"Your pet names sound so bitchy when you get competitive." He smirks.
"I love it." Steve smirks back. Dustin groans.
"Sorry sorry sorry." Steve says, waves at Eddie to move his hand so they can see the result. Eddie closes his eyes, leans his head back, takes a deep breath and mutters,
"C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon." He peaks one eye open, looks down at their hands.
"Eddie!"
"Okay!"
Eddie moves his hand away fast and then shrieks in devastation as Steve literally jumps into the air, his fists raised as he yells in elation. Eddie falls to his knees and Steve yells again.
"In your face Munson!" He pionts at him, smiling ear to ear.
"You're the devil!" Eddie screams up at him, scrambles to his feet and runs down the hall yelling, slams the bedroom door behind him and sobs dramatically against it, making sure they can hear him.
Dustin is red in the face from laughing. Steve falls onto the couch next to him, pats Dustin's knee.
"This'll be fun kiddo. So happy for you." He pulls him into a hug, squeezes him against his side.
"Yes and so proud Dusty!" Eddie yells through the door, still not coming back out. Steve snorts, his face scrunching as he smiles.
"And ya know what kid? And you're not gonna wanna hear this." Steve says, arms around Dustin's shoulders.
"Oh god. What?" Dustin asks, his voice hesitant. Steve looks off into nothing, his eyes glazing over a bit,
"I'm gonna be the hottest mom anyone's ever seen." He says, voice dreamy. The bedroom door slams open, Eddie stumbles back into the room, his eyes wide.
"Shit Steve. You're gonna be SO hot!" There's a fire in his eyes and Steve cackles, lets Eddie grab his hand and pull him to his feet as he stars spinning them around the living room, humming some random tune.
"I'm gonna have the hottest wife at the wedding! Get fucked Susie's homophobic parents!" He yells, dipping a laughing Steve.
"Hey!" Dustin calls from the couch but he's grinning. Eddie waves off his offense, twitching his hand at him.
"Dusty it's fine. My wife is hot. Nothing else matters." Steve bites his lip and buries his face in Eddie's neck as he continues to dance them around the living room.
"So that'll be a yes for the RSVP then?" Dustin asks, his cheeks tinted pink from laughing.
"Oh absolutely." Eddie says, his arms wrapping around Steve and lifting him up off the floor. Steve rests his head on Eddie's shoulder, arms wrapped around his neck, smiling at Dustin as he adjusts his glasses.
"We'll be there."

please do not steal my work - belongs to @grey342
Holy shit.
Tonight is your four year anniversary and he's acting so weird.
You noticed first when you were both getting ready to go. Fidgeting with his hands, wiping the sweat from his brow and constantly tapping his pocket.
You tried to ignore it but it was becoming more and more difficult as time went on. You struggled to understand why he would be behaving like this, the night was going perfectly.
You were at your favourite restaurant, outside by the beach. You were even alone which was strange considering this place is usually packed with people. The table was covered with rose petals and candles. The sun was setting beautifully, it was the perfect night.
"Isn't it pretty?" You ask looking at him.
"Hm? What?" He stumbles on his words. You smile softly and take his hand in yours, an attempt to comfort him.
"The view," you say looking out, "isn't it pretty?"
"Yes..Yes it is." He replies looking at you. You look at him, blushing when you realise. You notice his smile drop slightly and it's replaced with the same expression he's been wearing all night. You rub your thumb over the back of his hand, gaining his attention.
"Sweetie?" You call.
"Hm?" He mumbles.
"Is everything okay?" His eyes look directly into yours, widened with panic.
"Wha-What do you mean? Everything's fine, why wouldn't it be fine?" He responds too quickly for your liking.
"Are you sure? You know you can talk to me about anything." You smile at him.
“I know” he places his other hand on top of yours, “ everything is fine I promise.” He forces a smile. You’re still not convinced but you let it go not wanting to cause an argument on your anniversary. You look back out, when he takes a deep breath and calls to you.
“Baby..”
“Yea - holy shit" You whisper, stunned by the sight before you. Phil down on one knee with a velvet box in his hand.
"Alright, you know i'm not good with the sappy crap," you chuckle quietly, "but 'm gonna try my best. When I first met you I thought you were the most annoying bitch I had ever met. I mean in my entire life and i've met some bitchy women let me tell yo-"
"Phil,"
"Yeah?"
"Maybe..don't talk about other women when your proposing to me."
"Oh, yeah. Whatever, the point was you were a cunt," you let out a loud laugh, this calms him instantly, "but the more I got to know you, the more I realised how beautiful you are. Inside and out. You made me feel things I had never felt before, you trusted me enough to show your vulnerable side and that made me want to do that with you. I know we've had our tough patches but, you pulled us through it. Never giving up on us. Never giving up on me." Tears are blurring your vision.
"Anyway let's cut the bullshit and get to the important bit.," you kick him lightly, he giggles, "My love, my life, will you marry me?" The tears are rolling down your cheeks now, you can even see tears brimming his eyes.
"Yes, yes..Yes! Of course i'll marry you!" He stands up pulling you with him and embraces you. He grabs your hand and places the ring on your finger. You admire it for a couple seconds before he grabs your face and pulls you in for a passionate kiss.
He pulls away and rests his forehead against yours, staring into your eyes with so much love you felt yourself getting choked up again.
"I love you so much." He whispers.
"I know.." You reply, he chuckles in response and closes the gap between your lips once more. Your heart beaming, excited for what the future will bring you.

For the Love of the Game - [Pazzi | Part 1/10]
paige bueckers x azzi fudd
summary: part 1 of my pazzi fake dating series!! i originally meant for it to be friends to lovers but i realized enemies is easier to write so i changed it up 😶 lmk what u think!
word count: 760
masterlist | part 2
Tumblr media
“So the rumors are true.”
Azzi spun the basketball in her hands, finding comfort in the familiar texture of the Wilson Evo NXT. Here she was, at the Werth Championship Center, in front of banners unfurling the glory of all the NCAA champions that have walked here before her - a much different scene than the small high school gym of St. John’s. With all the different colleges she’d visited in the last year, she’d had a rough time adapting to how different everything was, but the one thing that always stayed the same was this ball in her hands. The reason she was doing all this, she reminded herself.
Azzi turned around. It was almost out of a movie, seeing the three girls that stood facing her. On the left, she recognized as Aaliyah Edwards. Her hair was intertwined in her signature yellow and purple braids, and there was a friendly smile on her face. On the right, Nika Muhl. The Croation phenom with long, straight brunette hair tied up in a ponytail, a neutral expression on her face. And in the middle-
Oh boy. In the middle, there was Paige. Good ol’ Paige Bueckers. Her light blonde hair hung loose, framing her face. Her eyebrows were turned down, her lips pressed into a straight line. Talk about unfriendly.
Azzi swallowed. “Hey,” she spoke uncertainly.
Aaliyah stepped forward, and before Azzi knew it, she was being wrapped up in a bear hug by the 6’3” power forward. “Welcome to UConn!” Aaliyah grinned. “I’m Aaliyah, but all my friends call me Lili.”
Azzi awkwardly patted Aaliyah on the back, her gaze falling to the other two after she stepped back.
“I’m Nika.” The brunette offered Azzi her hand instead of swooping in for a hug like Aaliyah did, but she suddenly smiled warmly, and Azzi felt at ease. “Nika Muhl.”
“Nice to meet all of you. I’m Azzi.”
“We know,” Paige responded curtly, a frosty look in her eyes. Nika nudged Paige, probably reminding her to be nice, and Paige heaved a sigh before sticking out a limp hand. “Bueckers. But you know that.”
Aaliyah rolled her eyes. “God, Paige, don’t be so cocky.”
“I’m not!” The blonde quickly defended. “Azzi and I go way back. She knows me.” She smiled at Azzi then, but it was sharp and wolfish, nothing alike Nika’s welcoming beam from earlier. Azzi preferred Paige’s resting bitch face.
Azzi twirled the basketball she was holding on her finger. “Yep,” she responded dryly. “Paige and I played together for a couple of years. USA basketball.”
Nika’s eyes lit up. “That’s so cool! So you already have a friend here. Nice.” She looked between the two of them with a big smile on her face.
“Not really,” Paige scoffed. This time it was Aaliyah who elbowed her, and Paige winced. “Give us a second, will ya?” Aaliyah smiled brightly at Azzi before she aggressively grabbed Paige’s elbow and pulled her a few steps back.
“What are you doing?” Azzi heard Nika hissed. They were being very conspicuous, especially because they were the only ones in the gym and the three sophomores had retreated literally only two steps back. Azzi could hear every single word they were saying without even having to strain her ears. But apparently they thought they were being sneaky, so Azzi could only awkwardly stand there and listen to them. She now regretted asking to stay in the facility when Geno had finished showing her around. All she’s wanted to do was shoot some hoops in her new home, familiarize herself with the gym before practices officially started, and now she was stuck here dealing with the bitchiness of Paige Bueckers, a girl who was constantly grating on her nerves.
“She’s not visiting,” Aaliyah added on. “She literally committed, so I don’t know why you’re trying to scare her away. She’s on the team now.”
“What do you even have against her?” Nikka questioned.
There was silence for a second, before Paige groaned. “Nothing. Just some tension from a few years ago, I guess.”
Tension that you caused, Azzi thought to herself. When she’d first met the blonde, she’d been fine with her, not particularly liking or disliking her. But after Paige had started being hostile around her, Azzi started to reciprocate the same negative feelings, resulting in the tensions that Paige was speaking of.
The girls returned. Paige’s face was now contorted into an unnatural, almost creepy smile. Azzi was sure Aaliyah had forced Paige to smile and this was the best the blonde could come up with.
“Welcome to UConn!” Paige said, her words dripping with faux excitement and peppiness. She glanced at Nika, who prodded her on with an encouraging smile, as if Paige was a kid that was being forced to apologize to their classmate whose blocks she’d knocked over. Paige motioned for the ball, and Azzi reluctantly tossed it over to her. She examined it, then spun it on her finger, copying what Azzi did earlier. “UConn.” She gestured at the banners, at the gleaming trophies lining the walls. “The basketball capital of the world.”

Hidden Feelings
Summary; The Hellfire Club does not like Eddie's girlfriend Alice one bit, she's bitchy, and rude and Eddie always seems miserable. They think he deserves better.
Y/n is new to Hellfire and in love with Eddie but knows he's off-limits so keeps quiet.
Dustin just wants his two friends to be happy but it's all just hopeless... Right?

They could hear Alice and Eddie fighting from where they were seated. It was so loud it reverberated off the walls.
Y/n winces as Eddie storms in slamming the door irritation clouding his features and he joins them.
"Sorry, I'm late". He murmurs and as the campaign starts he isn't his usual exuberant and dramatic self which worries her.
Dustin exchanges look with Gareth and her and she walks over to Eddie when he calls for a quick break and gently touches his arm.
His beautiful brown eyes meet hers and her belly fills with butterflies.
"Are you okay Eds?". He softens and nods planting a smile on his features, all dimples.
"I'm fine sweetheart, are you ready for movie night? Harrington let me pick the movie. Get ready for Nightmare on Elm street".
Jeff shakes his head before she can answer Eddie back.
"You're fine? You've been late for the last two meetings man, every time I see you, you're fucking miserable because of Alice".
Eddie avoids the group's stares and swallows.
"Just drop it alright dude, I've had Alice in my ear all day. Don't need to hear shit here too".
Dustin bites his lip and nudges her to say something. The only trouble is that shes head over heels in love with Eddie and anything she does say would not be nice about Alice one bit.
Alice didn't deserve Eddie, she was always getting down on him, keeping that beautiful smile from his face.
Dustin, Robin and Steve constantly encourage her to tell Eddie how she feels but she can't.
Yeah, Alice is a bitch but she's still Eddie's girlfriend and that makes him off limits. He doesn't feel the same and she needs to accept that.
No matter how much it hurt.
The campaign continues but there's tension in the air and she hates it. Ever since Eddie started dating Alice a month ago all she's done is cause tension.
Once the game is completed she helps Eddie clear up with Dustin, Lucas and Mike.
"Do you think I should dump Alice?". Eddie asks her and she freezes because she desperately wishes to say yes but stops herself.
"It's really up to you Eddie, not to me or any of the guys. Only you".
He's silent for a moment and plays with the rings on his fingers, he's stressed she can tell and she places her hand on his to calm him.
Something crackles in the air when their skin makes contact. It's heady and intoxicating but she resists the desire to move closer.
Eddie stares at her for a loaded moment.
"I'm not the good guy in this situation at all y/n, I was in love with someone when I got together with Alice".
She looks up at him shocked then immediately knows who it will be. Chrissy Cunningham, according to Gareth back in middle school Eddie had a massive crush on her so maybe those feelings have returned.
"I mean yeah that's a bit messy Eds but she treats you like utter shit, she's mean to everyone here all the time and I hate how she yells at you all the time. You deserve better". It just slips out and she cringes.
Before Eddie can reply the boys join them excited for movie night.
💞💫💞💫
Alice hated her. She made that known from the minute they met and never let her and Eddie be alone for even a second.
At lunch, she sat beside Eddie which was usually Dustin's seat but Alice wouldn't budge from Eddie's side.
"Oh, y/n I was just wondering if you and Steve were a couple. You're both single aren't you?". She frowns shaking her head.
"We're both single yeah but we're just friends". Alice bats her eyes and giggles.
"Silly me. Why not date him though? Steve is very handsome". Alice asks confused.
"Yeah but I just don't feel that way about him". She watches Alice's eyes light up and it makes her uneasy.
"But you're in love with someone?". When she doesn't answer Alice smirks,
"Oh my god, you are? Who is it? Do we know them, surely you can say?"
What is she playing at? There's something like glee in Alice's eyes and she realises that is a game.
Alice knows how she feels about Eddie and is toying with her, knowing she won't say anything about it.
"Leave her alone Alice". Eddie snaps and the temperature plummets as Alice turns an icy glare onto him.
The bell ringing is her saviour because she is so close to snapping herself and gets up hurrying away quickly.
"Y/n, wait". Eddie catches up with her and she offers him a small smile. " Jesus H Christ, I'm sorry about that sweetheart".
She shrugs. She's used to Alice being a bitch to her.
"It's okay". He's quiet for a second looking like he desperately wants to say something but is conflicted.
"Are you in love with someone?". He eventually inquires and she feels flustered.
"Eddie, it doesn't matter". God, please don't ask anymore she begs silently.
"You are? He guesses correctly. Who's the lucky guy?". Something in his tone makes her pause, she can't put her finger on what is though.
"It doesn't matter, he doesn't feel the same way Eds". She's quick to say and hopes the conversation is done because if he guessed how she felt she would be mortified.
"Then he's an idiot". He murmurs and walks away, she watches him go longing to say how she feels.
💖💫
She's sick the next couple of days and spends most of it cuddled up in bed. Eddie, Robin and Steve join her for movies and popcorn which is very sweet because she naps through most of it.
Mostly they just keep her spirits up.
Eddie seems lighter than he has in ages but the sickness takes it out of her before she can ask what happened.
She figures she will find out what's going on when she goes back to school on Thursday as there is an extra Hellfire session this week.
So she just relaxes with the three of them unaware of the shit storm on it's way.
💫💖
Nancy keeps her busy at lunch working for the school newspaper so she doesn't see any of Hellfire or find out why Eddie is in such a good mood.
Alice seems to be extra pissed today and directs most of the ire her way for some reason and corners her after school as she is just about to head to Hellfire.
"We need to talk". Alice grabs onto her arm and she scowls.
"Get off me!". She pulls free of Alice's grip and glares at her.
"You think I don't know how you feel about Eddie you sneaky little bitch! I bet you were quick to poison his ear about me". Alice is inches away from her face and seething.
"What the fuck are you talking about? No, I haven't but yeah Eddie deserves better than you".
Alice laughs. "And you think that's you? You're pathetic babe. You and all that Hellfire shit".
Furious she decides to walk away before she does something she regrets, like slap the smirk of that bitches face but she's not a violent person so she tries to reign her temper in. Alice follows her.
"You think I don't know what those Hellfire freaks think. They don't like me? Tough shit. Alice hisses, I told Eddie all about your crush and he wants you out of the group, he's disgusted by it but just too nice to tell you himself".
She stops walking. Her heart beats fast, anxiety filling her.
Eddie knows how she feels and now she's humiliated but something irks her.
"No, he's the head of the group, he'd tell me himself". She's certain of that but falters under Alice's sneer.
"That's what you think. Hand in your Hellfire shirt tonight and leave Eddie alone. I don't know why you ever thought Eddie would want you". She snorts then leaves.
Y/n wrenches the shirt off trying very hard not to cry and heads into the auditorium where Eddie and the rest of Hellfire are setting up.
"Omg, you'll never believe what happened... y/n?". Dustin asks excited features slowly turning confused at her tears but she focuses on Eddie and drops the shirt on the table. He takes it looking at her puzzled.
"Sweetheart?" Alice walks in looking smug.
"Alice told me everything, that you want me out of the group? Do you think I wanted to fall in love with you knowing you don't feel the same way and never will?".
Eddie grips the shirt and looks at her in wonder.
"You love me?". Tears roll down her cheeks and Alice giggles.
"I told her how you felt Eds that you are so disgusted by her being in love with you and were too scared to kick her out of the group because you don't feel the same".
Eddie gapes and moves to hold her.
"No sweetheart". She backs away from him and Dustin swivels around to Alice.
"You bitch". Y/n doesn't understand what's going on she just wants to leave and runs out the door missing the way the auditorium erupts in a whole lot of shouting.
💫💞💫💞
Max won't let her miss movie night so Steve picks her up with Robin while she sits quietly heart still aching from what transpired yesterday.
Since it's Hellfire night and that can run on she comforts herself that she can avoid Eddie even though she's really missing him.
As they head inside Family Video Steve hugs her tightly.
"Go to the store room there are some new movies in. Pick whatever you like". She thanks him and kisses his cheek.
As she enters the back room and clicks on the light Dustin is there and Eddie. What the hell?
"This is for your own good" Dustin yells at her and locks the door behind him.
"You little shit". She yells and turns back to Eddie sighing.
"Sweetheart will you please let me explain myself. What Alice said was a pack of lies. I dumped her on Monday".
This stops her in her tracks. He dumped her?
"What? You did?". He nods.
"When you were off sick, I've been growing more and more tired of her shit. She was ragging on you and Hellfire and I lost it, she made me so fucking miserable, I had enough".
She listens intently and he gently cups her cheek.
"Remember, when I said to you how I was in love with someone when I got together with Alice? I never stopped. Wouldn't have mattered if Alice was the perfect girl and not a fucking nightmare. Could never get the girl I loved out of my head".
He smiles warmly and she feels hope for the first time in a while that her feelings aren't so one sided after all.
"I told Alice we weren't working and could never work because I'm in love with you and I was sick of hiding It from you. I never thought you'd feel the same way princess but then you told me you did and I was so happy but Alice had told you all of those lies".
She leans into him and he kisses her hair.
"So you had no idea how I felt?". She asks him and he shakes his head.
"Not until you said, I'm sorry baby. I should have just told you how I felt but I thought that you liked Harrington so I tried to move on, Alice guessed how I felt and told me I'd have no chance".
She swears.
"I love you, Eddie, I'm so in love with you but I never said it because I didn't think you felt the same way. Then you started dating Alice and I thought I lost my chance".
He closes his eyes beaming happily.
When he opens them, they are so full of love that she feels like an idiot that she never noticed before and kisses him.
"We are both idiots". He chuckles warmly and she nods through happy tears.
"Yes, we are".
Dustin shouts asking if they have sorted things out and opens the door when they both shout yes.
Eddie ruffles Dustin's hair and they join movie night hand in hand.
The Hellfire Boys seem delighted that she and Eddie are together, they are both so much happier now they don't have to hide how in love they both are.
Alice also thankfully doesn't bother them again either and they finally get their happy ending.

[chapter one] [on AO3]
In the months before Steve's graduation, he and Dustin had something of a routine going on. Every Friday afternoon, Steve would pick Dustin up from Hawkins Middle School and they would drive out to the McDonald's one exit over. They even ordered the same thing every week: A Big Mac for Steve, nuggets for Dustin, two Cokes, and a supersized fry. After driving slowly back to Hawkins they would eat in the arcade parking lot, and when they were done they would either spend the rest of the afternoon trying to kill each other over air hockey or renting shitty science fiction movies. Whichever Dustin wanted, really.
It wasn't anything like Steve's life had been just six months ago, but he loved every second of it. Even when Dustin was getting mud all over his upholstery and asking too many questions.
On that particular Friday night, Steve had been late picking Dustin up because Mrs. O'Donnell had stopped him in the hallway on the way out, for the third time this month. Some bullshit about him not "applying" himself, or whatever, and how she didn't "feel it was right" that Steve had passed her class when he'd obviously learned so little. Which was bullshit, Steve thought, because she taught fucking English, which he already spoke, and he'd been pulling solid C's in her class all semester.
So most of the conversation had been about that, really, with Steve complaining about how every teacher he'd ever had hated him, and Dustin scolding him just as fiercely as any teacher ever had. A typical Friday night.
Tonight, however, Dustin paused, mid-sentence.
"Are you ever going to tell me why your eyes do that when you're mad?"
Steve paused, a french fry halfway to his mouth. He looked over at Dustin, who was staring at him from the passenger seat. He was almost used to it, a kid spending every day in the seat next to him instead of Nancy or Tommy, but big, curious eyes still threw him off from time to time. Especially when they came paired with off the wall questions like this.
"Why do my eyes do what, Dustin?"
"You know," Dustin said, gesturing to Steve's face with his burger. "When you get mad they go all black and stuff. Kinda like El's do when she uses her powers, but you don't--" Steve had never seen Eleven actually fight, but he had seen her do small tricks now and again for the boys. Her eyes were more like pits, her entire face wrinkling around the deep depths. Steve felt his stomach churn just thinking about the same in his own face.
The reflection in the rearview mirror was the same as it had always been. Hazel eyes, smooth skin marred only by a few moles. Steve made himself breathe.
"I think I would know," Steve said, keeping his voice carefully steady. He was trying to be less bitchy around the kids, but sometimes they made it so goddamn hard. "--if my face looked like that. It probably-- It probably hurts, right?"
"Not really," Dustin said, with enough conviction that it tore Steve's gaze away from his own reflection. "Anyway, it's not your face. It's just your eyes. Look, I don't know what kind of Wesen you are, man, but you can talk to me about it, whatever it is. You know I'm one, too, right?"
"A-- a what?" If this was another one of those weird fantasy novel things, he was going to finally strangle the little shit, he really was.
"A Wesen," Dustin repeated, looking as confused as Steve felt. "Like-- like me and El."
'Like me and El,' Steve thought, turning the sentence around in his head. He was not equipped for this, Jesus. It had to be hard, growing up fighting monsters and stuff, and having one of your best friends be a weird ass superhero, but Steve hadn't expected Dustin to deal with it by playing pretend. He'd always been the most grounded in reality of the kids. It was why Steve could put up with him for more than a couple hours.
"Buddy, maybe you should talk to your mom about this stuff," Steve said, slowly. "Or like Mrs. Byers or somebody."
Dustin rolled his eyes, which Steve thought was pretty rich coming from someone sitting in his car and talking about made up words. "Oh my god, Steve. Look."
And then-- And then.
Steve didn't know how to explain it. One moment, he was looking at Dustin, the kid he'd become absurdly attached to over the past semester, and then something shifted. In the next breath, Dustin was... different. Light brown hair had sprouted all over his face, smooth and straight and so unlike the curly mop still on top of his head. His nose had changed, the bridge gone flatter and wider, the end still hairless but now a deep dark brown, like a dog's. Underneath his nose, his lip was cleft, opened wide so Steve could see even more clearly the gap where Dustin's teeth should be. On either side of the cleft, whiskers sprouted, white and long.
His eyes were the same, though. Dustin's eyes, staring out of a beaver's face.
Two years ago, Steve would have screamed. He would have thrown things. He would have been out of the car in two seconds flat. His flight reflex had been recently shattered, though, and now all he could do was stare and try not to choose the other option-- fight.
This was Dustin, Steve told every dark instinct swelling up in the back of his mind. This was his best friend. Not something that crawled out of the Upside Down, not something stalking through the night. His kid.
Dustin blinked at him, with a silly smile on his inhuman face. "See?"
Steve's hands gripped the steering wheel, fingernails digging into the leather. "Dustin, what the fuck is happening right now?"
The smile faded on Dustin's face slowly. "Do you not-- Steve, come on. You've seen El do this like a thousand times."
"She's El!" Steve said, his voice going higher with stress. He could feel his muscles start to shake with the effort of keeping himself in place. "She's got, like, powers and shit! She was born in a lab and experimented on! You're-- You're just Dustin!"
"Okay, ouch," Dustin said. A pout began to form on his face. "Okay, yeah, El is special, but there are people who like her who are, like, normal Wesen you know?"
"You keep saying that word."
"You know, like--" Dustin gestured between them with-- Jesus fucking Christ, with a fucking paw. "You and me."
Steve had to get out of the car. His heart was going so fast he could feel it in his ear drums, in the roof of his mouth. It took too long for his shaking hands to open the door, and by the time his feet hit the dirt, he could feel adrenaline churning his stomach. Behind him, he could hear Dustin calling his name, the passenger door opening, but it only spurred on Steve's desire to get away.
He stumbled a few feet, his legs too weak to carry him far, until hands grabbed at his jacket. Steve whirled around, ready to fight-- Your kid! A smaller part of his brain screamed at him. --but Dustin was... Human again.
"What the fuck, Dustin," Steve couldn't stop repeating. "What the fuck."
"Steve," Dustin said, deadly serious. "Are you seriously telling me you've never met another Wesen before?"
"Stop saying that."
"What?"
"Stop saying that I'm one of you! I'm not. I don't-- I'm normal. Stop saying that."
Dustin's eyes were too understanding. Steve fucking hated it when he did shit like this, when he could just look at Steve and got him, because Steve barely understood why he did what he did, sometimes. How did this fucking kid always seem to know him? And if he could, why didn't anyone else ever manage?
"Steve," Dustin said again, pitched low and calm like he was trying to soothe a rabid dog. Like Steve was a monster, crawling the junkyard, looking for blood. "Look at your eyes right now."
There was a compulsion in Steve's blood that would not let him look away any longer. He had to look, had to face his own reflection already knowing it would ruin him. Steve raised his eyes to the car window, and its distorted mirror image of his face.
For a moment, Steve almost had hope. His face was not marked or pitted like El's, nor was it covered in fur like Dustin's. It was his nose, his skin, his moles, his mouth. The scars that littered his face in the last two years were faint, but still visible. Steve could still feel one of them in the corner of his upper lip. It was almost easy to miss, almost easy to chalk it all up to a bad joke. But then Steve met his own gaze, and all illusion was shattered.
It was like a trick of the light; They were the same size and shape as Steve's own, lined with the same delicate eyelashes, but there was no mistaking the change. His eyes were black. Not the deep void that stared out of El's other face, no. At first they seemed dead and glassy, like a shark's, but the longer he stared, the more Steve became aware of something moving inside them, like smoke behind glass.
Steve didn't feel his knees grow weak or his legs buckle underneath him. He barely felt it when he landed on the ground. One moment he was standing, and the next he was on the asphalt, staring up at Dustin. Dustin, who looked down at him with such a mixture of confusion and sorrow that Steve felt, bizarrely, like his change was more inhuman than all the fur and torn flesh in the world.
"What the fuck," Steve said, his voice croaking in his throat. "What's happening to me? Dustin, what the fuck is happening to me?"
"I don't know," Dustin said, and-- Embarassingly, Steve let out a thin noise of panic, because he was absolutely fucked if Dustin was admitting he didn't know something. "I mean, I have a theory, but..." Dustin cut himself off and looked around the parking lot. They were alone here, had chosen it specifically so they could laugh and play Dustin's tapes as loud as they wanted to, but he still scanned the area with more suspicion than Steve had seen out of him in months. It made Steve's instincts kick in, had him scrambling to his feet to put himself in between whatever danger Dustin suspected of the world around them. "We really shouldn't do this here."
"Is this..." Steve swallowed, his hands shaking. "Is this Upside Down shit? Is it because of the tunnels? Did I-- Did I breathe too many spores in or something?"
Dustin considered the idea for only half a moment before dismissing it with a shake of his head. "No, if this was a symptom, Will would have displayed the same ones while he was in the hospital last year. No, this has to be... Come on, Steve, let's go home. I promise, I'll tell you everything I know. Just not where people can hear us."
"This is fucking insane," Steve muttered to himself, but he climbed back in the car, hands shaking.
The ride to Steve's house was tense, neither of them speaking, although Steve could sense Dustin throwing him concerned looks the entire way. He usually hated when the kid did that, mostly because he didn't need a thirteen year old's concern, thank you so much, Dustin, but today it rankled Steve's nerves worse than ever. Everything in his body wanted to fight something, but the only enemy he could identify was inside his own head. Dustin's gaze on him only made it worse, made Steve so jumpy he imagined, several times, jumping from the moving car.
Whatever was wrong with him, it didn't stop at his eyes.
Steve stormed down his driveway and threw open his front door. Dustin scurried in after him as if afraid to be left behind, and Steve had a brief pang of guilt, but then he caught sight of himself in the long mirror that hung along the foyer and-- He turned away, swallowing bile. "Alright, kitchen," he said. "I need a fucking beer."
They sat on either side of his mother's breakfast nook, the only place Steve ever ate alone. Steve had a beer, one of the last few he'd been nursing since his party days ran out. Dustin had a root beer in front of him, untouched. They stared at each other, unsure.
It was time to be a fucking adult, Steve decided, and unstuck his tongue from the roof of his dry mouth.
"What was that word you kept using?" he asked.
"Wesen," Dustin answered, his mouth a grim line. "That's what I am. That's what El is. Or was? It's not really clear."
"But it's what she was supposed to be," Steve said, and when Dustin nodded, he sucked in a breath. "And what I am."
Dustin squirmed on his stool. "I think so."
"So... So what the fuck is it?" Steve shook his head, confused by the very words coming out of his mouth. "Am I going to start growing fur? Or-- Or get all wrinkly or whatever, like El when she uses her powers?"
"No, it's not--" Dustin paused, his face creased with the uncomfortable feeling of having no idea how to explain something. "I only know what my mom has told me, which isn't, like, a lot. But we're not like humans."
"Yeah," Steve scoffed. "I got that."
"What I mean is, we're part of the same community but we're not all the same. We probably have some stuff in common, but I don't know how much. I can't exactly go to the library to figure this stuff out." Dustin's voice held the long-suffering frustration of a child who'd been asking the same questions for a very long time, with no adult willing to answer. Steve was usually all for it, being the first to encourage the kids to say fuck adults and do it themselves, but he was still lost in a sea of information that made no fucking sense to him.
"Can we just-- Explain it to me like I'm really stupid."
"I want you to know that I'm not making a joke right now because I can tell you're in a really vulnerable place."
"Thank you so much, Dustin."
"You remember Star Wars, right?" Dustin asked.
Steve's head tilted. "The movie you made me watch over Christmas break? With the laser swords? Yeah, I remember them."
"Alright, so, everyone in that movie is an alien, right? Some of them look like humans, but they're not from Earth. And some of them don't look like humans at all. They're all from separate planets, some of them entirely separate species, but they're all aliens."
Steve blinked at Dustin for a long moment before his face collapsed into disbelief. "We are not fucking aliens."
Dustin's glare was legendary. "No, you idiot. But we're not human, either."
"Then what am I?" Steve raised a hand to stop the answer he could already see coming. "And don't say Wes… That word. I can't just be not human. People aren't… whatever they're not. I have to be something."
"I don't know," Dustin said. "I don't know a lot of the names. My mom is kinda…"
Steve nodded. Mrs. Henderson's brand of flighty overprotectiveness was well known to the entire group, and probably most of Hawkins by now. Dustin was allowed to spend whatever time he wanted with Steve, even staying over at his house when Steve's parents were out of town, but Steve had also been horrified to find that Mrs. Henderson had woefully unprepared the kid for things like puberty or high school. Dustin said his mom didn't like to talk about things that upset her, and Steve guessed that other Wesen was one of those subjects, much like Dustin growing up or rock music.
Steve felt himself begin to calm. Whatever happened, it was bound to be easier than the time he had to explain to Dustin what a pube was.
"Do you think she might know?"
"Probably, but we can't ask her." Dustin was beginning to look actually distressed. "There's no way she would let us hang out again."
Steve's stomach sank. "Really?"
"When she found out the founder of the D&D club at Hawkins High was a Blutbad, she made me promise I would never join," Dustin said. Brightening, he continued, "Oh, wait, duh! Your parents have to know; They must be Wesen, too! Just ask them."
Bradley Harrington's eyes had never gone black, Steve was pretty sure, though they had definitely been angry enough a time or two. He couldn't imagine his mother, Sophia, as anything less than human, either. They were both so… normal, although sometimes so damn keen on being completely on-trend that Steve suffocated with it. Half of the trouble Steve had gotten himself into over the years was more about calling too much attention to himself than legitimately bad behavior. Steve was sure they would be just as annoyed by having a genius like Dustin as a son as they were having an idiot like him.
He tried to imagine what his father would say if Steve called just to tell them his eyes had changed color, and winced.
"If they wanted me to know, they would have told me," Steve said, grimly.
"Well, fuck," Dustin said, which Steve thought pretty much summed it up, yeah.
After a moment of stewing in his own misery, Steve remembered to ask, "So what are you, then?"
Dustin's chest puffed up with pride, and a ripple of fur sped across his face. "I'm an Eisbiber!"
"That means absolutely nothing to me, you gotta know that."
"We're like beaver people, basically. Mom says it's impolite to compare people to animals but–" Dustin shrugged. "I call it like I see it. I'm a beaver. Lots of Wesen have animal attributes."
"What, like a werewolf or something?" Steve asked, incredulous.
"Those are Blutbads," Dustin confirmed. His voice dropped to a whisper. "But Mom says if you call a Blutbad a werewolf to their face, they'll eat you."
Suddenly, Steve could only think of demodogs, their faces peeled open and saliva shining in the moonlight. All those fucking teeth.
He nodded slowly. "I'll… keep that in mind." Shifting in his chair, Steve thought about the tight, inner group of the Party, and the way he hadn't really been a part of it before last fall. Even within their small group, there had always been an air of mystery about El and her origins. Even Nancy hadn't had many ideas, when Steve had gotten the courage to approach her about everything post-breakup, but if Dustin had known the whole time... "So how many people know about this stuff, then? Are Lucas and Mike like you? Is that why everything happened with Will that first time?"
"I don't think Wesen are that common," Dustin said, "though that might just be a Hawkins thing? Like I said, it's hard to do research. Lucas and Mike don't know. I'm not sure how much Will knows, honestly."
"But they know about El," Steve said, frowning.
Dustin paused, looking guilty. "I know. That's the problem. Mike treats El like a superhero, and I'm not... Eisbibers aren't like Hexenbiests, especially superpowered ones made in labs. We mostly make things. I don't want him to think I'm... I mean. You know. It's bad enough, already, with the human shit."
"Look, Mike and I have never gotten along, but I don't think he would do that. Whatever Wheeler is, a bully isn't one of them." Steve knew what a bully looked like. Scrawny, angry twelve years olds didn't make the list.
"Alright, so you tell them you're a--" Dustin paused. "A whatever, then."
"I will," Steve said, "the second we can figure out what the fuck it is I'm supposed to be. What about Hop? I mean, how much would El have told him?"
"Nothing about you." Dustin shrugged. "El was raised in a lab by humans, presumably. She didn't even know what she was. My mom had to tell Hop everything, and then made him promise me and El would never be allowed to hang out alone."
Steve thought of angry little El, eyes painted to match her second face, who wanted to be with her friends so badly that she ran away to find her past. "I bet that Kali girl could have helped us."
"Good luck finding her. I'm pretty sure she was half Musai," Dustin said. Steve wished he'd just stop saying shit like Steve was supposed to understand it. Being stupid about human stuff may be embarrassing, but he refused to be bullied for not knowing the names of every single race of a species he'd just realized he was a part of.
"This is insane," Steve said. He slumped in his chair, and looked around his kitchen. It looked just like he'd left it this morning, the kind of half-cluttered that houses inevitably got when they were lived in by people who desperately didn't want to be there. Filled up with the necessities of life but abandoned just as quickly. Clean dishes haphazardly placed around the room and junk mail months old still piled on the counter. His bread box was empty, half a loaf of bread still sitting in its wrapper on top.
It should be different, he decided. Not just his kitchen, but his entire world. That's how things had been when he'd seen the demogorgon in the Byers' house-- He'd realized things about the world in that moment that had changed everything. It was fast and violent, and the next morning he had looked at himself in the mirror and not recognized the kid looking back at him. It was the same for everything he'd ever loved, even the people, and while Steve had spent a lot of time looking back, he'd always known there was no resetting time before that moment.
He was starting to think he'd preferred the violent realization to this slow roll of information. Now Steve was left with the knowledge that the world had already been just as it was, and Steve had just been unable to see it. Right under his nose. His parents, his best friend, his fucking kitchen... the same as it had always been. He'd just been looking at it the wrong way.
That was a much harder pill to swallow. The demogorgon hadn't left Steve with much choice-- swallow or choke. Get it over with. Fight until you win. But how the fuck was Steve supposed to fight this? He felt helpless in a way he didn't often let himself be, disconnected from his body and vulnerable in the haze of his own thoughts. Like his soul was hanging raw and open in the space around him, and this part of him that was a living, breathing thing was left with no one home.
"We're gonna figure it out," Dustin said. Steve blinked slowly and pulled his gaze back to the kid who'd just blown his worldview to smithereens. Dustin's face was pulled tight with determination, leftover baby fat bunching adorably in his cheeks. He looked like an angry chipmunk, Steve thought hysterically, and then corrected himself: An angry beaver.
God, what the fuck had happened to his life?
"I'm serious, Steve," Dustin said, when it became clear that Steve wasn't going to react outside of a foggy gaze. "We're gonna figure this out, okay? Me and you."
"Yeah?" Steve said, the edge of a laugh in his voice. "We're gonna, what, hunt down what I am, what my parents are, completely on our own? You literally just said this shit was impossible to research."
"We don't need that shit," Dustin said, scoffing. "When have we ever needed evidence? Or, like, adults?"
Steve really wanted to protest that; As the older party and a practical adult himself, it was probably his job to insist on both evidence and adults for pretty much everything Dustin wanted to do, whether or not it involved fictional creatures that Steve may or may not be. The problem was, though, Dustin wasn't exactly... wrong. Hop and Joyce were the only adults that had ever been any help to either of them, and that was on a good day. Half the time they kinda just got in the way. Steve was pretty sure that if cops and doctors just listened to Nancy as much as they listened to the adults, they could have figured out most of this shit back in junior year.
"Fuck, okay," Steve said, pushing his hands through his hair. "Sure. Goddamn it."
"You are literally never allowed to tell me off for cussing again," Dustin said. He sounded unimpressed.
"Sorry, is my breakdown upsetting you?" Steve shot back, but he felt his muscles unclench enough that it no longer felt painful to breathe. Dustin's snark was honestly calming, though Steve would rather die than ever admit it. Still, it was a good reminder that no matter how scared Steve was, things hadn't gotten so bad that Dustin had lost his particular brand of sarcastic zen. As much as the little shit loved to dig into the most dangerous curiosities he could find, he wasn't exactly the sort to smile calmly into the face of death, so... So whatever Steve was, he could deal with it.
Probably.
"I'm going to go home," Dustin said, jumping out of his seat. Ignoring Steve's small sound of protest, he continued, "and you're going to take a shower and then a nap. Tomorrow, once you've calmed down, we can do some tests."
"Tests?" Steve repeated, his nose wrinkling. El had never really divulged what had gone on in the lab with him, but he knew just enough for his imagination to take over. He knew Dustin wasn't exactly the government experiment type, but he still hated the concept being applied to him. "See, this is exactly the kind of shit I didn't want to happen."
"Tough shit," Dustin said, stomping his way out of the kitchen. Rolling his eyes, Steve followed.
"Do you want a ride?" he asked, because he always did and, well... Whatever Dustin thought, Steve didn't exactly want to be alone right now. Also, he just found out there was a whole new kind of monster in this town, and every protective instinct in his body wasn't exactly jazzed about Dustin riding all the way home on his bike. "What about the B-- the Bad werewolves or whatever, you were talking about? You said one lived in Hawkins--"
"Blutbad," Dustin corrected as he wedged his feet back into the shoes he'd previously abandoned next to Steve's front door. "And I think I'll be okay. I've existed in the same town as them for thirteen years and I haven't gotten eaten even once."
"Not for lack of trying," Steve muttered under his breath, and then helped Dustin put his backpack on. Dustin let him, not complaining about being able to do it himself for once, and not for the first time Steve felt a small rush of affection for the kid. He knew not a lot of people understood why he and Dustin spent so much time together. Sure, sometimes the other kids were involved, Max and Lucas especially, but usually it was just Steve and Dustin. The other kids didn't really get it, and no matter what Dustin said, Steve wasn't sure they saw him as more than Dustin's big brother. As for Steve's old friends, well, Nancy had long stopped being impressed by Steve's ability to keep a kid alive for more than forty five minutes; She probably just thought it was pathetic now. Tommy sure gave him enough shit for it when Steve bothered to give him the time of day. God knew what Jonathan thought, outside of the stern nods they traded when Steve picked Will up for an arcade trip.
They just didn't understand the warmth in Steve's chest when Dustin let him help with something stupid and small. It didn't matter if Dustin could do it on his own. That had never been the point. Helping the kid put on backpacks and jackets, fixing his hair, making sure his grilled cheeses were evenly toasted on both sides so the texture didn't turn his stomach-- No matter how much Steve bitched, he loved doing every little thing no one had ever done for him.
"Listen, Steve," Dustin said, standing nervously in his doorway. "I want you to know that it doesn't matter."
Steve dragged himself out of his sentimental reverie. "What?"
Dustin squirmed, face pinched with thought. "What kind of Wesen you are, it doesn't matter. I'm gonna help you because you want to know, and that's-- That's cool. You've got a right to know, just like El. But knowing didn't change El, and it's not going to change you. You'll still be Steve, and Steve's pretty great."
Blinking, Steve couldn't respond for a moment. Finally, he managed to say, "Are you trying to pep talk me right now, Henderson?"
Embarrassment flooded Dustin's face, creasing his brown and throwing blush across his cheeks. "Okay, fuck you, see you in the morning, douchebag."
Laughing, Steve followed Dustin out the door and onto his front steps. "Hey, Dustin?" he called as he watched Dustin clamber onto his bicycle. Dustin looked up, eyes squinted in suspicion. "Thanks, man," Steve said, a blush rising in his own face.
Dustin grinned. "Welcome to the club, asshole," he said, and then sped out of the Harringtons' driveway as fast as his little Gumby legs could carry him. God, Steve loved that kid.
Dustin kept his promise. He was there the next morning, before Steve's neighbors had even left for church, with a list of potential 'tests' to try out. None of them were the weird science experiments that Steve had been dreading. Most of them, in fact, were just Steve trying to flex muscles he shouldn't have.
"Acid spit?" Steve read, incredulous.
"That one's a far reach," Dustin admitted. Shifting through his backpack, Dustin pulled out item after item, and Steve lowered the list to look doubtfully at the large slingshot that now sat on his kitchen table. "But I didn't want to leave anything out." It wasn't a long list, Steve noted, and most of it was ridiculous. No matter what Dustin said, he was pretty sure he'd have noticed something like kisses that drugged people or the ability to lead rats around.
Probably.
"Fine," Steve said, giving up. "But we're not doing this shit outside where the neighbors can see. The last thing I need is another rumor going around about King Steve."
"It's your house," Dustin said, shrugging, and threw the water balloon launcher over his shoulder.
To Steve's complete and utter lack of surprise, he did not have acid spit or any other set of superpowers. At Dustin's insistence, Steve ran across his backyard a few times, picked up some heavy things, caught a few launched tennis balls--
"I'm not playing anymore fetch," Steve decided, dropping the last of the tennis balls at Dustin's feet.
Dustin glared up at him with all the tiny rage of a scientist disrespected in his field. At least, Steve imagined. He hadn't known too many non-evil scientists in his life. "I'm trying to determine if you have super strength or improved reflexes."
"Oh, good," Steve said, and then flopped into his usual lawn chair. "I don't."
"You picked up a grill," Dustin protested, but even he didn't sound convinced.
"I was on three different sports teams for all four years of high school," Steve said, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. Dustin was only trying to help, and Steve knew he should be grateful. But once the panic had faded, all Steve was left with was this... irritation. Wasn't it enough that everything he'd ever known about his life had turned out to be a lie? One more lie on top of everything else turned out to be just one more pea under the princess' mattresses, and Steve was sick to death of vegetables in his bedding. "And I've been prepping to murder interdimensional monsters for the last two of 'em. Of fucking course I run fast and pick up heavy shit. It's, like, literally all I'm good at."
"I give up," Dustin said, throwing his arms up. Paper floated down around them, escaping from Dustin's clipboard. "You're the most useless Wesen in the world! If I hadn't seen you woge myself, I'd think you were an Eisbiber!"
"Jesus Christ, kid," Steve said, "Cool it on the beaver hate. Your mom's pretty cool."
Dustin's glare was intense enough that even Steve knew it was time to shut up. They sat in silence for a moment, Steve placidly watching as Dustin squinted into the reflective light of the pool. Steve had no idea what Dustin was thinking, and didn't have enough context to guess. At this point, Steve was ready to chalk the whole thing up to a trick of the light and move on with his life. Eventually, though, Dustin shook himself out of it and sat on the other end of the lounger, close enough their knees bumped together.
"Woge for me," Dustin demanded. Steve had learned enough that wogeing meant the change, the other 'face' that El and Dustin possessed. Dustin had talked about it at length that morning, talking about the difference reasons for it and how it might point to the truth of Steve's identity. None of the tests had worked, though, and Steve's eyes had stayed human.
"I don't think it's the same thing for me, man," Steve said. When he saw Dustin about to protest, he rushed to continue. The last thing he needed was another Henderson rant about the scientific method or some other bullshit Steve wouldn't bother to remember. "I tried for hours to make it happen last night, just so I could make sure that it had actually happened. Besides, it's only my eyes-- And your thing is literally everything but your eyes. Those stay human."
"But El's don't."
"El also looks like a literal diseased corpse when she changes," Steve said, tired. "Like we've said a million times, it's stupid to compare either of us to the girl literally created and then raised in a lab."
Even Dustin couldn't argue with that logic, but it didn't phase him for long. "Fine, then we just need to replicate the last time you woged, so I can take notes of all the characteristics I may have missed the last time," he said, slipping back into the overly professional voice that Steve was almost certain he'd stolen from one of his doctors.
Resisting the urge to groan, Steve frowned. "So, what, we have to go get in the car?"
"Maybe, if it doesn't work here, but I don't think the place is really the important variable here," Dustin said, and Steve supposed it was a sign of how seriously Dustin was taking this if he didn't even pause to ruthlessly bully Steve for getting it wrong. "How did you feel the last time your eyes changed? What caused the feelings?"
"Dustin, you were literally there," Steve sighed, but Dustin was already speaking over him before he could finish the sentence.
"Yeah, but I'm not you! I don't know what instincts were happening in that big head of yours!"
"I don't know, I was... upset?" Steve asked, and when Dustin rolled his eyes, he kicked at the kid's legs. "Hey! You're the one sounding like a fucking Hollywood therapist! What am I supposed to say? I just watched my best friend turn into a fucking beaver!"
Dustin's eyes narrowed. "You think my woge triggered yours?"
"I don't... know?" Steve leaned back in the chair, brow creasing as he tried to remember what had been going through his head before the panic of not recognizing his own reflection. The primal fear hung over every second of the memory now, but he knew that wasn't true. There had been adrenaline, yes, but Steve hadn't been scared of Dustin. His instincts had been more violent, almost angry. That had been what scared him, in the beginning. It hadn't been Dustin that sent him scrambling out of the car, but his own impulses. "When you changed, it made me... I thought I had to fight you."
Dustin hummed under his breath. "Once, when we were in the city, Mom and I ran into this lizard guy in the hospital. He turned out to be really nice, but when Mom first saw him, she woged out of fear and he woged back-- I think it was probably some kind of predator-prey instinct. Maybe it's like that?"
Steve felt a pit grow in his stomach. He didn't like the sound of that. "So, I'm like... A hunter?"
"Unless you think you're the only natural prey of the North American beaver, yeah," Dustin said.
Great, Steve thought, what a way to have every fucking bad thing anyone had ever thought about him confirmed in one fell swoop. Crossing his arms across his chest, he tried not to settle into a sulk. Pouting in front of the kid you were supposed to be a good influence for was embarrassing as hell, and probably even worse than being an instinct-driven murder machine. "Does that at least narrow it down?"
Dustin made an unsure noise in the back of his throat, kicking his feet back and forth as he thought. "I mean, kinda. It means you're definitely not anything my mother will let me within five feet of, but we pretty much already knew that. The problem is that, as far as I know, most of the Wesen world is pretty dangerous. Even some of the prey animals are killers."
"According to your mom," Steve said. He loved Claudia Henderson, he really did, but she thought her neighbor's Yorkie was two seconds from killing them all on a good day.
"According to my mom," Dustin agreed. "Look, let's just woge right now, and it'll confirm it."
"You don't think that triggering my 'predator instincts' on purpose will be a bad idea?" Steve asked, shrinking in on himself. If he hurt Dustin over some stupid science experiment, he'd have to go ahead and drown himself in the pool. And he genuinely didn't think Dustin could take the extra trauma on top of everything else.
"You'll be ready for it this time," Dustin said, and twisted around so they were face to face.
'Ready' turned out to be mostly erroneous. There was no countdown, no time to prepare-- Their eyes met and then Dustin was changing. The fur, the nose, the cleft lip. It was all as Steve remembered it, all exactly as he'd played over and over again in his mind. Steve braced himself, waiting for the same rush of adrenaline, for the same muscle-clenching urge to fight.
It never came.
One moment passed, then another. Steve forced himself to breathe. "I'm not feeling any rodent murdering tendencies," he admitted, although he couldn't quite convince his shoulders to relax.
"Well," Dustin said, his tiny beaver face peering into Steve's. "Your eyes definitely changed. They're... Huh."
"What?" Steve wanted to squirm under Dustin's gaze, uncomfortable with the very intense eye contact going on right now. Even though Dustin was looking at him, in his eyes, Steve didn't feel like he was being included in the interaction. If anything, it felt more like Dustin was watching something through him, and after all the multidimensional shit they'd been through, the last thing Steve wanted to think about was his eyes being a portal. "Come on, man, you're freaking me out."
"They're reflective," Dustin said, his voice faraway with thought.
"Yeah?" Steve said, confused. "So are everybody's."
"No, they're like mirrors. I can see myself completely. Every detail." Dustin's voice still sounded lost, and Steve swallowed down the sudden lump in his throat.
"That's weird," he said, eventually, when Dustin had proven that he had forgotten to even blink. "Um, can this part be over now? I'm not great at eye contact on a good day."
After a moment, Dustin shook himself, looking just as confused as Steve felt. "Yeah, sorry, man," he said, frowning down at his notepad. "I don't know what happened. Maybe your species is good at hypnosis? Some kind of snake, maybe?"
"Do I look like a fucking snake to you, Dustin?" Steve said, gesturing to his smooth skin and fluffy hair.
"No," Dustin admitted, "but we don't really have any proof your species has an animal counterpart, either. El doesn't. And before you say it--" Steve closed his mouth. "-- I'm not comparing you to El. I'm saying that whatever a Hexenbiest is supposed to be, I don't think it was originally like me. Maybe they're not the only ones."
Honestly, Steve hated the idea of his powers being anything like El's. To put it mildly, El's powers were fucking terrifying. Not the girl herself; It had been impossible to be afraid of El after Steve had gotten to know the sweet little girl that hid behind all that trauma. He adored her, really. But her powers? Steve genuinely didn't know how El slept at night, because if it were him with all that responsibility, he'd probably just have a heart attack. The more power someone had, the more opportunities they had to fuck up. Steve was proof of that. Having as much power as El was his worst nightmare. And if Dustin was right, that Steve might be something like her...
"We should tell Hop about this," Steve decided. Immediately, Dustin groaned.
"Come on, Steve! Hopper isn't going to let us dig into this and you know it!"
"Yeah, and maybe we shouldn't," Steve said. "I don't know anything about this shit, and my parents aren't talking. But if you're right, and I have the ability to hurt someone, then Hop needs to know about it."
Dustin's face softened. "You-- It's not like that, Steve. You wouldn't--"
"You don't know that." Steve was on his feet again, pacing the concrete that surrounded his pool. "We don't know anything, and you've seen what happens when El gets angry. And what happened to Will last year?"
"That wasn't Wesen related," Dustin tried to reason, but Steve was already shaking his head.
"That we know of," Steve said, "and I think we've proven that neither of us actually know a goddamn thing about this."
"... Fine. But I want it on the record that I think this is stupid, and you would never hurt anybody, Wesen or not."
Steve rolled his eyes. "Your complaint has been recorded, and will be going directly into the trash. Do you have your walkie on you?"
They went inside to collect Dustin's abandoned bag, his walkie still packed safely inside. They had given Hopper a Party-approved walkie the year before, when he decided that in case of emergency, relying on phones wasn't enough. Steve was pretty sure he'd given up on the Upside Down being a one-time thing, and making sure the kids weren't being eaten by monsters in the woods made everyone sleep better at night. They had a separate channel, though, for adult-included emergencies, because Hopper had threatened to arrest Mike for calling in a Code Orange over being out of toilet paper.
Steve hesitated over the dial, for a moment, and wondered if discovering you weren't human was a Code Yellow or Orange.
"It's not going to call itself," Dustin said, and Steve--
His eyes shut, all usual irritation at Dustin's annoyances drowned out by fear. Because he was so fucking afraid. Afraid of himself, yeah, but also a million other things. Like, how was he supposed to look Hopper in the eyes and admit what he was? Sure, Hop was okay with El, but El was a kid. His kid. Steve wasn't sure if he'd have taken the beaver thing half as well from anyone but Dustin. Wasn't sure he would now, even, and he was fucking one of them. Would Hop think he was a monster?
Even worse, would Hop believe him when Steve said he was something to be feared? Steve wasn't sure if he hoped Hop would, or if he dreaded it.
"Can you wait outside?" Steve asked, his voice shaking. He could already see Dustin gearing up for an epic bitch fit, so he quickly continued, "Just for a second. I swear, you can come with me. I can't do this shit without you, man."
The admission made Dustin quiet. With shock or with mollification, Steve didn't know, but whatever it inspired in Dustin was enough to have him nodding and walking out the door.
Steve turned the walkie to Hop's channel, and held the button down. "Chief, are you there?"
There was a moment of quiet, and Steve thought- hoped? -that Hopper didn't hear him, that he might be busy or at work or maybe he'd thrown the stupid thing in a drawer somewhere, but eventually the speaker crackled to life. The chief's voice poured out, "That you, Harrington?"
"Yeah," Steve said, the vowels coming out reedy in the tightness of his throat. "Yeah, it's me. Um... I got a... A Code Orange? Or maybe a Yellow."
"I can never remember that stupid fucking system," Hopper said, and on any other day, Steve would have laughed. "You okay, kid?"
Kid, Steve thought, his brain buzzing, when was the last time he'd been a kid?
"No," Steve said, answering the question truthfully for the first time in years. "No, I'm not."
There was a moment of static, and then, "You need me there?"
Steve wanted to say yes. Steve wanted to sit on the floor and wait for an adult to come by and take care of it. Steve wanted a dad who would come home and make everything go away. But that wasn't the truth, and it would scare Dustin, so Steve took a deep breath and acted like a fucking grown up for once. "I was thinking that Dustin and I could come by the cabin tonight, actually. There's something there I think we might need."
Hopper made a small, considering noise. "This about all that nastiness this fall?"
"Dustin doesn't think so," Steve said, glad to be able to report some good news for once. "It's more… personal. But, you know, you have a lot in the cabin that might have answers, so…"
There was a moment of dead air, and Steve wondered if Hop was weighing his affection for El against his need to protect Steve. Hopper was obviously more of a protective dad than Steve's dad had ever been, putting even Claudia Henderson to shame with his hovering abilities, and Steve… didn't begrudge El that. Really, he didn't. But there was a lump in his throat when he thought about Hopper leaving him to deal with this on his own. And he would, if it meant keeping his daughter out of trouble. Steve knew that without a moment's thought.
He wondered what it said about him that the knowledge made his chest ache. Nothing good, probably.
"Come on down," he said eventually, and something in Steve's chest unclenched. "You'll both stay for dinner."
"Sounds good," Steve said, although they both knew it hadn't been a question. "We should be there in about ten minutes."
"Yeah, I know where you live, boy," Hopper said with a snort, and then the line went quiet.
Despite himself, Steve smiled down at the walkie as he threw it haphazardly back into Dustin's bag. No matter what changed, at least Hop would always be the same. He was the same as a father figure as he was when he had been a stranger breaking up all Steve's best parties. It was a small comfort, to see someone strong enough to not let all the craziness of their lives change him– A comfort that Steve let wash over him in the silence of his kitchen, breathing deep.
Okay, game face on, he told himself. Keeping how badly this affected him from Dustin was hard enough, and he knew it would be near impossible in the face of El's observant gaze. He wasn't entirely sure how this would affect her, but keeping as calm as possible would stop her from freaking out, and that was always good for Steve's health.
He loved the kid but, Jesus, she was scary sometimes.
"So what's the game plan?" Dustin asked as they both climbed into the Beemer. "I mean, what are we going to tell him?"
"Stop trying to game the Chief," Steve said, with the air of an older troublemaker who had long since learned better. "It literally never works."
"So, what, we just go in there and tell the truth?" Dustin said. He sounded uncomfortable at the idea, which Steve kind of understood. He'd been the same at Dustin's age, always lying and keeping problems to himself for genuinely no good reason. He was still working hard to break the habit, obviously. He didn't know why he did it, though, and Dustin probably wasn't even aware of it yet– It was just a knee-jerk reaction, something Steve had learned after years of proof that telling the truth rarely got you anything but grounded.
"If we want Hop to help, he's gotta know what's going on," Steve said, with more confidence than he felt. Dustin argued for the entire drive, less because he disagreed, Steve was pretty sure, and more because it was easier than dwelling on the mystery. Sometimes your brain needed a break from the panic spiral of the unknown, and bugging the shit out of your best friend was the perfect solution, apparently.
Steve sighed in relief when he rounded the last corner and the cabin slid into view.
Hidden away in the depths of the same woods that abutted Steve's yard, Hopper's cabin was small and plain, unnoticeable from the main roads that cut through the town mere feet away. Steve wasn't sure how many people knew about the place, but those in the know rarely came by except by appointment. Even Joyce knew better than to roll up to Hopper's unannounced. If anything, such a bold move would be a sign that something had gone truly, terribly wrong.
There was always a bit of nerves just before Steve knocked on the cabin door. Every time, something in him was convinced he would be turned away. The confirmation beforehand didn't help the anxiety, and Steve was never sure why– Maybe it was the feeling of constantly intruding on El and Hopper's new family, or maybe it was just the fact that they both could kick Steve's ass, but the initial frisson of nerves never faded even after Steve had grown comfortable in their presence.
Hopper opened the door before he could knock, leaving Steve's hand hanging awkwardly in the air.
"This doesn't look like an emergency," Hopper said, voice gruff– But his gaze swept carefully over the both of them.
Steve opened his mouth to explain, or at least offer some kind of vague reassurance that would get them in the door, but Dustin beat him to the punch, as usual. "It's not really a human-type emergency."
Hopper's eyes snapped to Steve, surprise and suspicion mixing together in equal measure. "You said this wasn't about the lab."
Steve swallowed, his mouth suddenly dry under Hopper's gaze.
"Most Wesen aren't man-made," Dustin said, suddenly huffy with offense. Steve would probably be offended, too, if he'd had a lifetime to adjust to not being human. Seemed kind of rude to start assuming people were created in a lab. "Look, can we come in? If I have to re-explain my entire society to you, I at least want to do it sitting down."
To Steve's surprise, Hopper smiled down at Dustin and took a step back, shrugging. It wasn't exactly a grin, but it was there plain as day, small and fond. "Sure, come on in. El," Hopper said, raising his voice to shout across the cabin to his daughter. "Company's here!"
El's door swung open on cue, all the proof Steve needed that she'd known they were coming the whole time. The girl all but sprinted into the main room, nearly tackling Dustin in a hug. They looked almost like siblings, all brown curls and wide smiles, and El's delight at seeing Dustin was effusive. Despite the stress of the last two days, Steve found himself sharing Hopper's smile.
The kids chattered to each other, voices soft with delight, and Hopper made eye contact over their heads. "You hanging in there, Harrington?" It was the kindest way to say that he'd heard the panic in Steve's voice earlier, and embarrassment flooded through his veins. Steve appreciated the concern. Really, he did. But suddenly the shame of his own need to be cared for was overwhelming, and Steve had to fight the urge to back out of the house with a mumbled excuse.
He couldn't figure this out on his own. This wasn't going away.
Luckily, Hopper's voice had reminded El of their second guest, and she saved Steve from having to reply by pulling away from Dustin. "Steve!" she cooed, her voice still pure childhood.
She went in for a hug, her face tilting up to beam at him, and– As their eyes met, El's face shifted. The rapidly familiar ripple of a woge, leaving behind the twisted, pitted skin of her second face.
The black of her eyes burned like coals, and the intensity of them sung in Steve's veins as adrenaline shot through his blood. His hand, which had raised to pull El into a hug, shot towards Dustin, instead–
Every cell in his body thrummed with instinct. He needed to get the kid out of here, away from the danger. He needed to put himself in between, needed to fight.
Before his hand could even land on Dustin's back, his feet were off the floor.
Steve hit the cabin wall, the entire room rattling with the weight of El's power. He could hear Hopper and Dustin's voices, surprised and panicked, but their voices were lost in the ringing in his ears. He struggled in vain against El's invisible hold, rage mounting with every futile second.
The part of him that still held on to rationality, the part that made him Steve, struggled to calm his pounding heart. He knew El wouldn't hurt Dustin, knew El wasn't the threat his body said she was, but it took everything he had just to bite down on the feral scream building in his throat.
The strings of El's power were cut just as quickly as they were woven, and Steve slumped to the floor. There were hands on him, but he recognized them as Dustin's, and he let them hold him down.
"I'm… I'm sorry," El said, her voice small. Steve wanted to cry at the fear there, even as the furious parts of him settled in smugness.
He didn't look at her. He couldn't. Instead, Steve looked up at Hopper, pleading.
"Something's wrong with me," Steve said, voice shaking. "You have to help."
Hopper's face was grim, his mouth a flat line as he looked down at them. "You feel the Mindflayer on him?" he asked El, his eyes never leaving Steve.
El was quick to shake her head. "No, it's not like Will. It was… I think it was me."
"I already told you, it's not an Upside-Down thing! He's just a Wesen," Dustin said. His hands were shaking where he had them fisted in Steve's t-shirt. Steve leaned into them, feeling them steady against his ribs.
"Like us?" Some of the unease faded from El, excitement in her eyes.
"Not exactly," Steve said, still looking up at Hopper with guilty eyes.
Dustin turned to El, his eyes sparkling with the excitement of having someone who would entertain his nonsense for once. "You noticed his eyes, right? That's the only aspect of his woge. I've never seen anything like it, have you?"
El shook her head. "I've had woges forced before, but I–"
"Forced?" Hopper repeated, and Steve slumped further into himself.
"Steve didn't, though," El said, and her eyes drifted back to Steve. He didn't like the way her eyes went unfocused when he looked back, the same way Dustin had drifted into a haze earlier that day. "I was… afraid."
"A prey response," Steve said, glumly repeating what Dustin had theorized before.
"Not of you," El said gently, to Steve's surprise. "When your eyes went black, I could see myself in them. Not my body, but my…" Her face twisted in thought. "My self."
"I did, too," Dustin said, frowning. "And Steve said he had the same initial adrenaline response, but I didn't–"
"I didn't like what I saw," El said, her words clipped in the harsh, stilted way it had been when she was younger.
All four of them sat in the silence that followed for a moment. Steve wondered if they were also trying to ignore what Steve was: The things El had done that Dustin hadn't, the things she'd had no choice but to become. He wasn't sure what El had seen staring back at her, but Steve couldn't imagine having to actually face the worst of himself. And how did his pathetic little life even compare to the things El had survived?
Eventually, Hopper broke the silence. "I didn't see anything." The skepticism in his voice was palpable, but there was relief there, too.
"Humans wouldn't," Steve said, a terrible realization creeping up his spine. "We were wrong, Dustin. It's not a predator thing. I think it's…" He huffed, trying to think of some kind of comparison. "It's like those butterflies that make themselves look like owls. They're trying to fend other Wesen off. Whatever I am, it's afraid of being hunted."
"Alright, alright. This is–" Hopper rubbed a hand over his face, looking five years older than he had when Steve and Dustin had knocked on his door. "Start from the beginning. What exactly are we dealing with here?"
Dustin and Steve shared a look.
'You're the smart one,' Steve said with a shrug.
'You're the one with the freaky eyes,' Dustin said with an arched brow.
"Alright, so… It started after I picked Dustin up from school yesterday," Steve began. He ran them both through everything, even the parts that made him cringe. The first intense need to fight or escape in the face of Dustin's woge, the changes in his own reflection he couldn't replicate.
El listened politely, sending Steve small smiles when she noticed him looking her way. Her obvious happiness when he or Dustin included her in their discussion of Wesen almost made Steve feel guilty for hating this. He knew isolation, both real and metaphorical, was the hardest part of El's slow integration into society, and having more Wesen around was probably a dream come true, but– Steve wasn't that guy. He didn't know a damn thing about being Wesen. He was just… human with a condition.
Besides, whatever levity El brought to the situation, Hopper was apparently determined to stomp out. His face was that of a man facing down a firing squad, one who was fucking pissed about it, besides. When Dustin mentioned Steve's parents, he practically went apoplectic, turning away as his face went redder and redder.
Whatever the fuck that was about.
"So we decided we should come to you," Steve said, gesturing, "because you would know what to do about… me."
Hopper's face didn't get any less angry. El, who had apparently just noticed her father's countenance, looked between them with wide eyes.
"What to do about you," Hopper repeated, voice flat.
"Yeah," Steve said, nodding. "Like you did with Will."
El and Dustin both flinched, but Hopper was made of stone. Nothing but long, uncomfortable eye contact from him. "I don't think there's anything to be done here, kid," Hopper said.
Steve couldn't suppress the full-body reaction to that, scrambling to his feet. Adrenaline was hitting him again, sending his already exhausted heart into paroxysms, but now it was true fear. Not of some imagined enemy, but of himself. "I can't just be around people like this, Hop," he said through gritted teeth.
"You're around people now."
"That's my fucking point! I have like four fucking friends in the entire world, and two of them turned out to be the exact kind of people that I'm a danger to. The only reason El isn't hurt is because she can kick my ass," Steve pushed a hand through his hair, feeling it stick up at the ends from leftover hairspray. He didn't care. He wanted to pull it out by the fucking roots. "What if I go to the grocery store and meet a Wesen in the fucking dairy aisle, Hop? What about the next time I see Mrs. Henderson?"
"You didn't want to hurt El," Hopper said, his voice calm but his face still marred by anger. "You were reaching for Dustin. You wanted to protect him."
"You can't know that for sure. I can't– I can't control myself when I'm like that," Steve said. "It took literally everything I had not to hurt my own fucking kid."
"Me?" Dustin squeaked.
"You can. I know what someone out of control looks like, Harrington. You aren't it."
"Why can't you just fucking help me?" Steve said, his voice going reedy with desperation.
Hopper sneered. "I'm not going to help you punish yourself for something you haven't even done yet."
"I think maybe we should go outside," El said, and Dustin nodded eagerly. They both scurried outside like they were being chased.
"Stay where I can see you!" Hopper bellowed after them. Steve blinked back tears, shaking in the silence the kids left behind. Hopper took a deep breath. "Look, kid…"
"I don't get why you won't help," Steve said, his eyes falling to the floor. "It's not punishment when it's El. Why can't you–"
"El could control herself," Hopper said. "She just didn't know that she needed to. She's still learning how to be a person, Steve. She's just a kid."
"Right, right. Sorry," Steve rubbed at his nose, willing his tears away. "I'm sorry I bothered you, I–"
"That's not…" Hopper sighed, grabbing one of Steve's shoulders in one big hand. "What I'm saying is that you're already a good kid. I don't have to worry about you getting yourself or somebody else hurt."
"I get myself and other people hurt literally all the time."
Hopper rolled his eyes. "You know what I mean. You're not going to hurt the kids, and I don't believe you're going to start attacking randoms in the street. You're still you."
"But…" Steve swallowed around a dry throat. He didn't know how to make Hopper understand, didn't know how to make him care. He'd never been very good at that. Half of his life, Steve had been begging people to care. None of it had ever worked. "Alright. I get it."
Hopper nodded, looking relieved. "Just go home, Harrington. Lay low for a little while. Get used to the new instincts." Steve still wanted to protest, but he agreed. "Good. Let's get outside, before those kids start some trouble."
Steve followed Hopper out the cabin door, head held low. Dustin and El were waiting for them on the porch, sitting on the edge with their knees pulled up to his chest. They weren't talking, just watching the door with their bright, expectant faces.
"It'll be fine," Hopper told them, voice calmer than it had been inside. The kids deserved that, Steve told himself. "Steve's got this."
"Yup," Steve said, his tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth. "It's all under control."
El darted forward, throwing her arms around Steve's chest and clinging. Steve tried not to meet anyone's eyes over her head and hugged her back just as hard.
"I'm sorry I scared you," he whispered, heart twinging in his chest. Not much scared El, and now he was on the list. What did that say about him?
Squeezing even harder, El shook her head, rubbing her face against his chest. "Don't be sorry. It's not your fault," she said. It sounded like she was mimicking someone, and Steve wondered if Hopper had done that for her. If she'd been held close and told everything would be okay.
Swallowing around his jealousy, Steve held on until El stepped back and smiled up at him. "You'll have to give me some tips on how to do this Wesen thing," Steve said. "Dustin's terrible at it."
She smiled up at him. "We'll learn together."
Dinner was a simple affair. Hopper hadn't let Steve help at all, so he had sat on the couch and watched Dustin and El play card games until spaghetti was on the table. The kids were loud and chaotic, thrilled to be around each other again, and it didn't matter that Steve only talked when someone asked him a question. Somehow, he made it through the meal, even when every bite churned in his stomach.
Even when Dustin kept sending him little looks of concern, always too perceptive for his own good.
They said their goodbyes quickly, even when El begged them to stay. Hopper, laughing, had told her they couldn't stay forever, and waved them out of the cabin and into the car.
When Steve pulled into the Henderson's driveway, Dustin hesitated before opening the door.
"So, I've been thinking," Dustin said, "and I don't think I should go to Camp Know-Where this year."
Immediately, Steve knew he had fucked up. Dustin had talked about little else since the spring semester had started. No matter what problem he'd had, whether it was bullies or how boring his classes were, Dustin had changed the subject to how good this summer was going to be. And Steve got it. Really, he did. If he'd grown up in a town where no one cared about sports and bullied him for liking basketball, he'd be fucking stoked to spend some time with people who understood him, too.
But now Steve had ruined that for him, too.
"Absolutely not."
"I can't just…" Dustin looked distressed, and Steve was all the more determined to send the little shit to camp himself. "What if something happens while you're away?"
"What's gonna happen?" Steve said, even as his brain played a horror film of all the things he could do without Dustin as a buffer for the rest of the world. He tried to borrow a little of Hopper's confidence. "I just have to get a handle on my instincts, that's all."
"I don't think sitting in your house alone all summer–" Dustin started, but Steve cut him off, slicing his hand through the air.
"You're going to your shitty little nerd camp, Dustin, and that is final." Before Dustin could protest again, Steve continued, "I have to get a job this summer anyway, remember? Official Bradley Harrington decree. Even if you stayed home, we wouldn't be able to hang out all day. You can't, like, come to work with me."
Dustin didn't look convinced. "What if something happens?"
Honestly, Steve didn't know, either. "You know, I'll call…" Who? The last thing Steve wanted was to disappoint Hopper, so he and El were out. The kids were too young to help with this shit, anyway, and Steve didn't really know many other people. That only left… "I'll call Jonathan or Nancy, okay?"
"You're really gonna call your ex-girlfriend and tell her you went insane and beat the shit out of somebody?"
Steve sighed. "If I say yes, will you go to camp?"
Dustin nodded. "Honestly, I kind of hope you fuck up, now."
Closing his eyes, Steve responded: "Get the fuck out of my car, Henderson."
The rest of the spring went smoothly. Steve kept to himself at school; He had already descended into minor loserdom after everything with Billy, so it was a piece of cake to stop making eye contact with anyone he wasn't completely sure was human. Graduation came and went with little fanfare. He skipped the ceremony, and made up some shitty excuse about a vacation with his parents.
He and the kids ate pizza and watched movies all night. Steve pretended not to see the pity in Nancy's eyes when she picked up Mike and Will the next morning. He waved politely at Jonathan and closed the door.
A few weeks later, Dustin left for camp.
He started work that same week, and Steve was grateful for the distraction. Orientation was a quick affair, the manager running him through health and safety protocol and quizzing him on customer service. Steve wore his best mask the whole time, smiling at all the right times, frowning thoughtfully when he was supposed to.
"Let me introduce you to your coworker," the manager said, and led Steve into the back room. A girl sat at the table there. She was wearing the same awful uniform that Steve currently held in his hands, but Steve could still see the nerdom radiating off her. Something about the hair and the tacky thrift-store jewelry. This wasn't one of 'his' crowd, and Steve breathed a little easier for it. "Steve, this is Robin Buckley. Rob–"
"I know who he is," Robin said, and raised her head.
The woge rippled across her face, revealing fur and piercing golden eyes.

Girl from the Band 1 (Yandere!Jason Carver x Band Geek!Reader)
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: dark, yandere, non-consensual intimacy (next chapter), maybe death (haven't decided yet), violence
This was random but honestly I think Mason Dye is a very handsome man so I really wanted to make a Jason Fanfic
Alternate AU but still 80's, No upside down fantasy stuff.
(Y/N) held her trumpet at attention while during the anthem which was sung by a previous student that has since graduated. Y/n rolled her eyes; she remembered Tammy Thompson from a science class long ago.
"This girl has no talent, why are they letting her perform?" y/n said under her breath but a laugh to her left caught her attention.
Robin Buckley shook her head with a smile on her face. For some reason, this made y/n feel warm. She was happy that she had made someone smile, even though she barely knew Robin and Robin's group of odd-ball friends outside of band.
How weird that Robin hung out with Steve Harrington; a man that graduated last year but still hang out with high school kids. Y/n shook her head, feeling sour at her own bitchy thoughts. People are allowed to have friends and just because she didn't have any, didn't mean she could judge everyone else for it.
When the game ended, all of the Hawkins Students fled to the courtroom to celebrate with the Basketball team on their win. Specifically, everyone cheered for Lucas Sinclair who'd made the winning shot and even though Y/n wasn't much of a participator; she found herself cheering along with her classmates.
It was until an object bounced infront of her, pulling y/n out of her own daze. A basketball had flown its way to her and one of the players rushed to her to collect it.
Jason Carver was a handsome guy. A classically handsome highschool athlete you'd see in any John Hughes movie. Y/n felt her cheeks warm at the thought of him coming towards her, looking her in the eye. It was an intimate feeling that she wasn't use too. She felt weak not wanting to look him in the eye but felt she lacked the type of beauty he'd want to look at.
"Sorry about that; it's the championship game-ball and we lost it in the celebration." Jason said, grabbing the ball from y/n's feet.
His voice was deep and warm; his damp hair sticking to his moist skin reminded her of a model posing by the sea. He was a dream and she lived in reality.
"It's okay." Y/n said, staring at the ground. She didn't feel like making eye contact.
Jason chuckled while heading back to his team; he'd seen this girl before but had no interest moving forward; his girlfriend was the queen of Hawkins High anyway. Chrissy Cunningham. For some reason, she was nowhere to be seen since the ending of the game.
The following week, Y/n had noticed Jason's demeanor change. Once a confident, prideful man to callous, irritated ass. You'd think he'd be at his best since the big win but instead he's acting like he lost completely. In Jason's perspective; he did.
Chrissy Cunningham had been hand in hand with one of Jason's basketball friends down the hallway. Clearly, they were still in the honey moon stage of their affair. It wasn't an adult kind of affair; Chrissy had broken up with Jason the night of the game for someone who'd swept her off her feet in his absence.
Y/n kept her opinions to herself, even during lunch when the loud whispers from all the lunch room increased at either Jasons or Chrissy's appearance. However, even with an increased attitude Jason kept his cool. He had to; his reputation depended on it. Sure, his first real love tore out his heart and stomped on it on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life; but he considered himself the man of the school. He'd be damned if he didn't hold his head up high and looked for a replacement soon.
If Chrissy could move on within seconds, so could he. He felt himself getting heated; looking at the other girls in the school. While they werent Chrissy, he knew he could find someone to love him just as much. There were 2 obstacles;
There was only 1 Chrissy Cunningham.
He'd have to pick someone who respected his position as top-dog but it seemed like most of the girls in school were laughing at him now.
It was Study Hall. Y/n had been planning out an idea. She didn't want to graduate this year without doing something new and had been researching DnD for the past few months. There was a Dnd club called Hellfire ran by an eccentric classmate of hers' Eddie Munson. Yeah he was cute too. But Y/n didn't WANT to think about that; she just wanted to do what she wants and then graduate. Don't cause attention, don't put yourself out there. Those were her rules.
However; it wasn't up to her to not stand out as Jason Carver had remembered her genuine shyness from gameday. It was cute and honest. So many girls in school pretend to be cool or bitchy to seem higher class without realizing that they were just unpleasant rather than interesting.
Looking at her, Jason really believed there was something there and was determined to make her his arm piece for the rest of the year. In the deepest parts of his mind he decided y/n had no choice.

i’m think about speech patterns! take these for all your fic writing needs! not all of them are done bc i was taking requests for who to do next on the discord lol
Jon: He tends to speak like he'd type, a veneer of professionalism and Oxford education, but one which slips the second he's shocked out of his facade by worms, or Martin. He's one for run on sentences; he has a lot of thoughts and he wants to get them all out the second they come into his head, no matter if they actually make sense to the listener or not. If he's shocked! or upset! He gets snippier! His phrases are cut off, or bitchy.
Martin: He, well, he hedges a lot. He lets people come to their conclusions before he, uh, before he finished speaking. It's easier that way, y'know? They hear what they want to hear. But when he's angry, or annoyed, or tired, he lets slip what he's really feeling. He stops biting back his words and he gives up on being sweet. You know what he thinks? Maybe people better listen to him now and then!
Tim: Tim is a consummate professional, but also? A Lad. A lot of people forget, but he started in publishing! He's good with his words, and a nerd. These are two Very Important Things about Tim Stoker that he will ensure that you know by the end of a conversation with him. Tim does his best to make you comfortable, talking casually but without restricting what he knows. He's not about to back down from a point if he disagrees with you, though. He's always up for a bit of a Scene, be that imitating his movie of the month, or creating some imagined moment about the people around him. He cares, so deeply, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. His emotions ride high; he can be the class clown if he wants to, but he can just as easily be hurt very badly. Oh, yeah, another thing to mention! He's a little forgetful in conversation! He needs to wheel back to things when he remembers them! He also has a habit of asking questions without asking them? He's more curious than he wants to let on...
Elias: Well, Elias is very similar to Jon. He's a little more restrained in terms of run-on sentences, though. He's spent a long time crafting his language to provide authority in equal measure with a non-threatening presence. He speaks slowly, as if he's thinking over every word, rolling them in his mouth like a sweet. When he realises he needs to intimidate, though, a thrill laces everything he says. He *enjoys* the ability to put those below him into their places. He likes using his words to mould and crush people, and he isn't above doing so. Do I make myself clear, Jon?
Annabelle: Well, Annabelle is similar to Elias, actually. She chooses her words very carefully. She knows how much affect a single choice can have, even down the stress she chooses to put on a phrase. There's a smile in her voice, like she knows everything that this conversation is going to include. Though, I suppose, it's important to remember how young she is. When she died, she was just a poor university student... She's not sure she's grown up since then, and it's much easier to weave a web when people think you're innocent...
Nikola: Nikola talks Exactly how you'd expect a ringmaster puppet to talk! Grand gestures, bright smiles, all with a plastic coating! Isn't everything she says just wonderful?! She knows people hate her, and she also knows how funny it is to pretend like they adore her! She's less self-aware, than some of the others, but she's there to have fun, not manipulate people! She understands her atrocities, and *delights* in them. She doesn’t have a face, so she has to put all her emotions into her voice!
Peter: Peter is just... Tired. Growing up as he did has him split between an innate human desire to share, and the exhaustion of other people. He settles by picking a confidant, and markedly rejecting everyone else through a professional, bland exterior. He knows, he knows better than you, but he's not going to stress himself proving it. He's got better things to do.
Michael: Michael... What an interesting boy... He... I...? Was... Is...? Michael is something else. He knows he doesn't talk in a way that others understand instinctively... And yet it's always very clear what he means. He is deceit, but he will never lie to you. It's easy to understand a lie. Much harder to unravel a half-truth. I suppose that's what Michael is... A half-truth. There's amusement in his nonsensical nature, even as he bites back resent. Some remnant of that anxious little boy long to make a joke, to titter anxiously at the things his friends say... Michael is confusion, confusing, confused. And he knows exactly what's happening.

Writer prompt: Steve & Mike bonding pls
Ooh I love this!! We don’t see it enough in canon but I think their bitchiness actually gets along fairly well together.
Tumblr media
It’s 8:54am on a Tuesday when Mike bangs on Steve’s door. “I need to talk to you.”
Steve blinks, but does ultimately let him inside. “Is something wrong? Is it something with the Upside Down?”
Mike scowls at him like he’s an idiot. “No.”
Steve stares back, unimpressed. “Then why don’t you use the words I know you have, since I’m not a mind reader?”
Mike releases a breath. Turns and stalks down the hallway before just as suddenly turning back. “How did you know you were gay?” He blurts.
Steve is, quite honestly, stunned. “Oh. Okay. Um, the short answer is, I’m not.” He gestures Mike over to sit on the couch. “I’m bisexual, which is when you like both men and women.”
Mike nods. “How did you know?”
Steve blows out a breath. “I mean, I think I always knew I liked girls, mostly because that’s what was expected of me. That’s what’s acceptable, y’know? As sappy as this is gonna sound, it took meeting Robin to understand that liking the same gender was a possibility, and it took meeting Eddie to understand that I could feel that way. I love Eddie, just like I loved Nancy. Different people, different genders, but the love’s the same.”
Mike nods. “How would I know?”
Steve smiles sadly. “That’s the thing. Only you can know.”
Mike groans. “But I don’t know, that’s the thing! ‘Cause I love El. I swear I do. She’s amazing and I don’t deserve her. But it’s like… sometimes my body will remember it’s supposed to feel this way, and I get all flustered and my palms start sweating, but it’s just Will! I’ve known him forever!”
Steve hums. “Thinking you don’t deserve someone is a dangerous game to play. You’ll keep reaching for that mark of being good enough only to find you can’t ever quite reach it.” He looks at Mike. “Being in love doesn’t mean you try for something unattainable. It means trying to be the best you you can be, knowing that even if you fail, that person will still love you anyways.”
He’s silent for a second. “How’d you know you loved Eddie?”
Steve chuckles. “It was somehow both gradual and all of a sudden. I think I’d been falling for a while, and all of a sudden one day I was hanging out with him. We weren’t even doing anything special, just sitting and talking, him plucking at his guitar, and I thought, I want it to be like this forever.”
“And you just… knew?”
“Yeah. Pretty much.”
“You weren’t scared?”
“Mike, falling in love was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.”
Mike thinks about it, nods, then stands. Steve follows suit. “Need a ride?”
“Nah. I need to think about how I’m gonna do it first.” He looks at Steve. “Do I have a chance?”
“I can’t say yes for sure, because I don’t know for sure what Will feels. But I know how it looks. And it looks like you do.”
Mike nods and walks out the door, turning back at the last second. “Thank you.”
Steve smiles. “You’re welcome.”
At the next movie night, Steve smiles and pointedly doesn’t say anything when he sees Mike and Will holding hands.

Being in a long-term relationship has many perks, Steve finds out, almost 2 years into dating Eddie. There is someone to share your days (and nights) with. Someone to support you. Someone who can pick up milk when you run out of it and only notice when you’re already at work. Someone to hold you on your bad days and celebrate the good ones with you.
Another benefit is that you get to know them inside and out. Their tells, their quirks, their likes and dislikes.
Steve learns that Eddie is a restless sleeper, all flailing limbs that tend to hit Steve in the face and other sensitive places. He learns that Eddie loves ketchup and tomato sauce but hates tomatoes. That he secretly loves country music and can play every Dolly Parton song on his acoustic guitar (he found this out when they had their first big fight and Eddie serenaded him with I will always love you to apologize). And that his most sensitive area is the place right under his ear, which gets him hard in seconds when Steve so much as breathes on it.
Steve also learns that Eddie is not only a picky eater, but also gets hangry frighteningly fast. One moment they’re joking around, the next his remarks get biting and mean. At first, Steve was taken aback, hurt even. They go more than a few days without talking after one of what Steve later learns is a hangry diva attack.
It’s Wayne who brings him up to speed after Eddie all but stormed out when Steve asked him if he could drive Dustin, Lucas and Mike home after their hellfire session because Steve had the late shift at the store that day.
He tells Steve, “Eddie gets mad when he’s hungry, y’know. The kid has to have a snack every two hours or else he starts throwing hands. Even as a toddler, he was all giggles and sunshine before all hell broke loose. First time, I thought boy got possessed by a demon.”
The thing is, Steve likes taking care of people, likes taking care of Eddie. So, he starts packing snacks. And when Eddie starts to get bitchy with him, he just shoves a granola bar in his mouth. Works like a charm, every single time.
Until it doesn’t. Because, as mentioned, Eddie is also a picky eater. He hates vegetables with the fire of a thousand suns (Eddie’s words, not his, because he is not a drama queen like his boyfriend).
Steve is afraid he's going to get scurvy, and Robin told him all about it one day when his only meal was the candy on the counter at the family video store. He'll never forget what she told him that day.
That’s why Steve is trying to change Eddie’s eating habits. He does it out of love. Eddie doesn’t agree.
"Steve, what snack did you bring today? Please tell me it’s Twinkies."
Steve fishes in his jacket for the bag he stored there before he left the house this morning. "It’s actually carrot sticks. They’re really good?" It comes out as a question and Steve wants to kick himself.
This is not going to go over well.
Eddie looks at him with a look of utter betrayal. "You monster."
Steve changes tactics. "If you're really hungry, you'll eat the carrots."
"And if you really loved me, you'd have brought a Twinkie. Who do you think I am? Bugs fucking bunny?"
Steve refrains from rolling his eyes at Eddie. “You got to eat something healthy once in a while, goddammit. You get scurvy, you lose your teeth or your eyesight. Do you want that?”
"What if I don't want to keep my eyes healthy, huh? I've seen enough."
Max, who sits next to Eddie during their movie night, punches him, hard, her eyes never leaving the screen.
Now it’s Eddie’s turn to change tactics.
"You know how fickle life can be, Steve. What if something happens and my last meal is some fucking carrot? Do you want that on your conscience, dude?"
Steve's patience is wearing thin. Maybe he should have eaten something. Except for the carrots, which didn't do shit for his mood. Not that he'd admit it out loud. This is about Eddie, who is being a big baby right now.
Always a man of action, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He takes one of the carrot sticks and tries to shove it between Eddie’s lips.
"I swear to God, I will bite off your carrot stick if you don't take that away from me!"
"EXCUSE ME THIS IS AT LEAST AN EGGPLANT"
"Small cucumber at best." Eddie says in a stage whisper to a bunch of traumatized 16-year-olds.
That’s enough. Steve gets up with an exasperated huff and storms into the kitchen. You know, like an adult.
After about five minutes, Eddie follows.
"Y’know, if you want to see me go down on some stick I got a better idea, big boy."
Steve smiles in spite of himself. He always folds up way too fast. Love sucks that way. He hands Eddie a goddamn Twinkie.
They share it.
As they munch on their scurvy-inducing snack, Eddie says, his cheeks stuffed with cake, "You don't get this fine physique from carrots, Steve. I'm a growing boy."
Something that Eddie has learned about Steve in the last two years? He can be a little bitch, too.
"If by fine physique you mean a saggy ass, be my guest, Eddie."
The kids burst into the kitchen seconds later, alerted by an indignant scream, and find them in the middle of a food fight. They see Eddie shoving a Twinkie down Steve's pants and yelling, "Have a saggy ass yourself!"
--------------------------------------------------------
After everyone leaves, they lie in bed and make out like the horny teenagers they no longer are. As Steve's hand moves from Eddie's stomach to his groin, Eddie gasps with pleasure. "Yeah, baby. I want your hand on me."
“I have another idea.” Steve breathes into his ear, having made sure to lick a strip up Eddie’s neck up to his ear to do so. He lets his hand travel down further south.
Steve should have known better. One more thing he learned about Eddie? He never lets anything go.
"Oh, now you want to top, huh? What about my saggy ass? HUH WHAT ABOUT THAT STEVEN."
Thank you, @legitcookie and @yournowheregirl for being silly with me! This is like 33.3333 percent mine, the rest is from those two evil geniuses 💜💜💜💜

friendzone - chapter 1
The one where director!reader is forced to work alongside her new work crush and the idiot who broke her heart

“C’mon, just give me a chance…” I was not having a good day, to say the least. Oh, no, not at all. Not a good year, perhaps - let’s go there, yes, why not? I deserved it, after all. This was all my own doing, and I never allowed myself a single second to forget it.
“Not gonna happen, Evans.” I might have closed the door a little harder than necessary if all of the gazes that fell on me upon entering the set were any indication. “I’m sorry, I know, I just- Where’s my coffee?”
I usually wasn’t this bitchy, but having to work with your ex-boyfriend - your cheating, lying ex-boyfriend - usually had this effect on a person, I imagined. Sending a grateful smile to the PA who had the guts to approach with a steaming cup of joe, I set out to put as much distance as possible between me and the man who was still following my every step.
Why did I ever think a slammed door would stop his pursuit, I would never know. Five months, hundreds of ignored calls and texts, and the guy didn’t quit it. Hell, he even managed to force his way into my dream project, just to force me to talk to him.
I was determined not to give up. He couldn’t be rewarded - not for what he did, not for what he was doing to me right now - but his ego stopped him from even seeing the error of his ways.
He just kept pushing, and as the director of the movie he was starring in, I couldn’t completely ignore him. As much as I wanted to.
“Is everything okay?” My body immediately relaxed at the sound of the (now) familiar English accent. “What’s going on?” It was clear that Henry wanted to outwardly ask me if Chris was bothering me, but he refrained from doing so. Like the gentleman he was - or, at the very least, someone able to think about the consequences of his actions before doing something he’d come to regret - he didn’t want to put me in a weird position, or even potentially complicate his work relationship with his co-star when he truly didn’t understand what was going on.
It’s not that I didn’t want to tell him. I did. But we’d only known each other for four weeks - the time since pre-production started, plus the week since we started filming. It didn’t matter how much we’d clicked in that time, he was still a relative stranger to me.
Even if I were to trust him… why would he even care about my past with another man? We weren’t yet friends, and nothing romantic was going on, despite all of the dirty dreams I’d been having since our eyes connected for the first time.
I knew I wasn’t the only one who suffered from his superpower. All of the people attracted to males - even some who swore they weren’t - had the same lustful haze in their eyes after spending seconds in his presence…
… and I’d been there before. The woman standing on the sidelines while their lover enraptured the world. Never again, I’d sworn. Never again, I still reminded myself under my breath every time Chris popped into my brain, life or heart. and yet, there I was: five whole minutes into staring into clear blue eyes and no words left to say like I’d unlearned the entire English alphabet simply because Henry Cavill decided to rest his gaze upon me.
Men really did make women go dumb sometimes.
“Nothing that involves you,” Chris spoke from behind me, two hands coming up to seize my waist and pull me against his chest. “You don’t have any reason to be concerned, I can assure you.”
… or insane.
“Get your hands off of me.” I don’t think I’d ever used this tone on Chris before, so his instinctive reaction to let his hands drop to the side of his body could probably be explained by that. But the truth? I didn’t even know I was able to make such a guttural voice until his actions led me to see the world in shades of red, in a way much similar to the one I used to stare at while we were in love, and yet so drastically different it confused and terrified me.
“Do you even have a scene to film today, Chris?” I asked, deciding to completely ignore Henry while I still had to deal with the manchild that was my ex-boyfriend. It took him a while to answer, but after some hesitation, he nodded.
“Yeah, it’s the-”
“No, you don’t.” I knew I was being silly, but fuck. This was my movie set, and he couldn’t just keep doing this - interrupting my work schedule, my dream job because of a romantic past he screwed up.
“Go back to the hotel. I’ll film Henry's solo scenes today.” His nostrils flared, his temper once again getting the best of him, but when he opened his mouth to argue… “Go.”
I was tired of letting him take the reins of my life.
