Hurt feat. Thor x OC
Tumblr media
Summary:
The God of Thunder is going through a tough time. His friends do not validate his feelings, so it must be okay to feel this way. Jasmin, the newest Avengers, knows the meaning of being sad. She sees what Thor is going through and decides to help him.
TW: deals with depression. PTSD.
word count: 10,847 (yeah this is the longest one shot I think I’ve ever written.)
Disclaimer: I do not own any Marvel characters, but I do own this plot and my OC
Author's Note: It's something I wrote and just couldn't stop writing. Is it a little far fetched? Yeah, but that's the beauty of fanfiction...I can do what I want. Enjoy! This was very therapeutic for me.
Thor was having troubling sleeping, but what else was new? Being at the compound felt weird for him. He wasn’t oblivious to the looks and the comments. But he deserved them. He was no hero. He was worthless. Even now as Tony and that rabbit built that time machine, he could hardly keep up with them. His dreams didn’t help. He kept reliving the most horrible moments of his life over and over again.
A beer will help him get some sleep, he thought to himself as he made his way to the kitchen. He heard noises as he got closer. Someone else was up. He turned the corner to see who it was.
Jasmin was there with some earphones in. She looked to be in the process of making a sandwich. Thor’s stomach growled. He didn’t have dinner since he had slept through it. Jasmin wasn’t someone Thor knew. Apparently, she joined after the Snap. She helped Natasha run the compound and did some missions on her own. A good soldier and the only one who didn’t give him any looks or made any comments.
Her brown hair was up in a ponytail as she jumped up and down to something. It wasn’t the normal Midgard music he was used to. Similar to Tony’s but definitely more aggressive. He could hear it and he caught a word here and there.
“You gonna stand there or do you want a sandwich?” she turned her head to face him and Thor smiled. She was good.
“You don’t have to. I can make my own,” he walked into the kitchen.
“Nah, it’s all good,” she turned back around. He walked so he was in front of her where she laid everything needed for a good sandwich. “What do you like?”
“Surprise me,” Thor took a seat on the barstool. He could still hear the music even though she had turned it down. Her head continued to bob as she made him something. His eyes caught glimpses of scars down her arms. She wore a tank top and it revealed tattoos she had on her upper arms.
Jasmin started to mumble the lyrics and he could understand it a little more. After a few minutes, she placed a sandwich in front of him. It looked good.
“Go ahead,” she smiled at him. “Want a beer?” she asked as she walked to the fridge. “I went to the store earlier and got some Coronas and Modelos because I am sick of Miller and Budlight.”
“Sure,” he didn’t mention it was the reason he had come down in the first place. “You normally drink beer at 1 in the morning?”
She brought back two glass beers. She picked up the butter knife she had used to spread the mayo, wiped it clean on a towel, and then used it to open the beers. He was fascinated by how easily it came to her. She placed the beer next to his plate.
“I mean, I think propriety has gone out the window five years ago,” she scoffed.
Thor took a big swing of his beer almost finishing it. His fault. Five years ago. If she noticed the change in his demeanor, she didn’t say anything. They ate and drank in silence. She picked up her phone and scrolled through it and then the music changed. It was different. Not what she was listening to before.
“Why did you change it?” he asked as he chewed his food.
“You can hear it?” she gestured to her ear.
“I am a God,” he half smiled and then scolded himself. He didn’t deserve to smile. Jasmin picked up her phone again and changed it back. “I like it. What is it?”
“Tony calls it trash. It’s part of rock music. I mean it ranges from metal core to pop punk.”
“How did you meet everyone?” Thor had vaguely paid attention to be honest since he came back.
“Well, I met Natasha, Steve and…Sam when they were nomads,” she had a hard time to say Sam’s name he noticed. Former lovers? “They saved me out of a human trafficking ring from Europe. And Nat took me under her wing for two years. I was there in Wakanda.”
Thor’s face paled. So, she saw his failure? He didn’t remember her. He flinched when the scene played in his head. Thanos right in front of him. The snap of his fingers.
“Hey,” Jasmin touched his hand and he flinched. “You said you liked my music. Wanna hear some songs?”
She didn’t wait for his answer. She removed her earphones and then pressed something on her phone and the music began to play loudly.
She lowered it just a bit.
Thor leaned over to see that it was a song called ‘Walls’ by The Color Morale.
“I love this band,” she took a bite of her sandwich and talked as she chewed. “Their album ‘Know Hope’ is the only thing that got me through my depression.”
Depression. The word wasn’t something they used in Asgard. But he had heard it often in Midgard.
“How do you know if you’re depressed?” Thor asked.
“You don’t really know it,” she swallowed her food and then drank some of the beer. “To me I felt I was just…lazy. I didn’t shower. I ate and I felt bad for eating so much so I would throw it up. It’s different for everyone. The most important thing is recognizing it for what it is.”
Thor was silent as he chewed on her words and his sandwich. He thought about his house back in Holland. The boxes and boxes of pizza. Endless bottles of beers. His physical being. His dirty clothes, hair and face.
“How did you get over it?” Thor cleared his throat.
“Honestly, I haven’t, but I don’t let it consume my life either. I’m supposed to take pills to help me, but it made me feel like a robot. I decided for now I could get through it. Hopefully I won’t ever need pills but once suicide comes into play, I call my therapist…Nat,” she chuckled. “She knows what I’ve been through, so I talk to her about it. It helps to talk about it.”
Thor frowned. “What’s this song?”
Jasmin smiled wider. “This one is called ‘The Hardest Part’ by Secrets.
Then it started to become a nightly thing. They would both meet at one in the morning in the kitchen. She would make something to eat and they’d eat it together as they talked about music. Well, she talked about music. She showed him some songs that help her when she’s depressed. Songs about hope. Songs about moving forward.
One night, Thor was looking forward to talking to Jasmin. He had looked up the lyrics of some of the songs and he had felt them deep within him. People who were expressing exactly like he was feeling. Thor wore a new sweater. It was still too big for him, but at least it was a new one. He had even cleaned his face and he removed his fingerless gloves.
But in the kitchen with Jasmin was Tony.
“Oh hey, Point Break,” Tony grinned. “FRIDAY told me about your rendezvous,” he pointed between them.
“We eat and we drink, Tony,” Jasmin didn’t sound happy. “He just came down to talk trash on my music choice.” She told Thor.
“It’s not that bad,” Thor shrugged.
“She got you hooked on her emo music?” Tony laughed.
“Emo?” Thor joined them and he stood beside Jasmin.
Jasmin narrowed her eyes at Tony. “And so, what? Are you the mighty gate keeper of rock music?”
“How can you compare it to Led Zeppelin?”
“No one is. But you are,” Jasmin defended herself. “Music is music. If I like it, I listen to it. I have no guilty pleasures when it comes to music, Tony. I love it for what it is.”
“Poetic. This is boring. I’ll let you two get back on your date,” Tony walked away before either of them could tell him otherwise.
“So ready to make some brownies?” Jasmin clapped her hands and turned to face him. Her eyes finally took in what he was wearing, and she smiled. Baby steps. That’s all that mattered. “Are you allergic to walnuts?”
Thor smiled. He smiled for the first time in years. A genuine smile. “No, I’m not.”
The next day Thor woke up with dread in his gut. His dream—or nightmare had been just the same. He realized he had gone a couple of days without them and now that it was back, he hated it. Tears formed behind his eyes and then moved down his cheeks. The scream of his people being slaughtered haunted him. Seeing his best friend die. His brother as well.
Thor inhaled and tried to feel like he did yesterday, but it wasn’t working. So, he decided to give into the darkness. He got up and went to the fridge and got all the beer. He drank them in the kitchen, and he heard everyone else wake up.
“Hey, meeting in five,” Natasha tapped his back.
Thor burped. “Uh, I don’t think…I shou—”
“No excuses, Thor,” Natasha walked away before he finished. He rolled his eyes and he decided to walk to the conference room now. He was the first, so he took the seat at the corner of the room.
Jasmin walked into the conference room last. This meeting was supposed to be about the stones. She looked around the room and saw Thor at the corner. She took a seat next to Scott.
“All right so the how works,” Steve took the lead in the meeting. “Now we gotta figure out the when and the where. Almost everyone in this room has had an encounter with at least one of the six infinity stones.”
Jasmin was actually glad she wasn’t one of them.
“Or substitute the word ‘encounter’ for ‘damned near killed’ by one of the six infinity stones,” Tony said.
“Well, I haven’t,” Scott said next to her. “But I don’t even know what the hell you’re all talking about.”
Jasmin’s eyes went to Thor and he seemed to be okay. He had his glasses on. A drink in his hand but breathing evenly. She realized he was sleeping. She also realized she wasn’t paying attention.
“So let’s start with the Aether. Thor, what do you know?” Steve spoke and all eyes went to Thor.
When he didn’t move, Jasmin groaned.
“Is he asleep?” Natasha asked.
“No, no. I’m pretty sure he’s dead,” Rhodey joked.
Jasmin was sick of his jokes. And Tony’s and sometimes even Natasha. She stood up and made her way over to Thor. They clearly were ignorant to their friend being a deep depression and preferred to make fat jokes instead of helping him. She shook him lightly.
“Thor,” she placed her hand on his arm. He didn’t move. “THOR!” she clapped her hands in front of his face and he jolted awake.
“I’m fine!” he shouted. His breathing quickened and then he visibly relaxed when he saw it was her. “Oh hey, Jasmin. Wh-what is going on?”
“We’d like to know about the Aether,” she stood up and gestured to the others. “Come on,” she encouraged with a smile.
He stood up and made his way to the front of the screens. He started to explain, and Jasmin realized just how much he had digressed. He had been doing better yesterday but he had gone down again. She knew something had triggered him. Probably the night terrors he had. Her room was next to his, so she knew very well about his nightmares. It kept her up sometimes and it broke her heart when she could hear him call out names.
Loki.
Heimdall.
Mother.
Father.
“Eggs? Breakfast?” Tony offered Thor.
“No, I’d like a bloody Mary,” Thor chuckled and turned to Jasmin. “Would you like one, Jas?”
“Jas?” Natasha raised an eyebrow. “No one calls her Jas, she hates it.”
Jasmin clapped her hands. “I’ll go make breakfast and that bloody Mary. Also Chinese for dinner sound good? Also let me know if you want something, I need to leave this compound before I pound someone in the face.”
“I volunteer to go with you,” Thor raised his hand. “We need more beer. I drank it all.”
After breakfast, Jasmin took an SUV to drive. Big people meant a lot of food. Hulk alone ate for ten people, so she had to bring a lot of groceries. She had called up the Chinese food place ahead to make sure to make enough food for about twenty people.
Thor got into the passenger seat next to her. She turned the SUV on, and the music started to play. Her phone was automatically connected to the car. It played the song she had been listening to when she had been on her morning run.
It was ‘Tapping Out’ by Issues.
The drive was silent for the most part.
“You know you can sing it if you want to,” Thor said beside her. “I can see you mumbling the words. No judgement here,” he burped.
She smiled. “True. ‘So, I’m tapping out. Tapping out suffocating can I get out? All this drama is bringing me down!’”
Thor tapped his finger that was on his leg to the beat. He really did like the music she listened to. For the song she continued to song and he continued to bob to it. The song ended and changed to Avenged Sevenfold.
“This sounds like something Tony would listen to,” Thor commented.
“Probably. I do listen to all music. I just hate Tony for thinking mine sucks.”
“I like the music you listen to. It is good to know Midgardians have come a long way.”
“Did Asgard have like…therapists? Someone to talk to about problems?” she wondered.
He shook his head. “For a society very advanced in medicine we did not have ‘therapists. We were taught to just…deal with it.”
“By ‘it’ you mean trauma. Sounds unhealthy,” Jasmin commented. “Being here have you thought about talking to someone?”
“I talk to you,” he mumbled as he stared out the window. “You’re the one person who has listened. Truly listened.”
Jasmin’s blood boiled hearing that. They were supposed to be his friends. They had known him longer. She understood they were under an enormous amount of pressure but what was the chance they would make it? Not very likely, so why were they brushing Thor’s mental state under the rug?
“Well, when you’re ready, I’m here, Thor,” she meant it. She would become the friend he needed.
“Everyone has tried…for years. I don’t seem to be getting better.”
“It’s not a race,” she told him. “You haven’t even tried until recently. You won’t know until you try. Look this quote is what actually got me through my depression. ‘You must never give into despair. Allow yourself to go down that road and you surrender to your lowest instinct. In the darkest time, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength’.”
Thor took the words in slowly. He smiled as he dissected them. “That sounds like a very wise person.”
“Uncle Iroh sure made some good points,” she chuckled. “It’s from a cartoon I used to watch when I was younger. Before…I was taken.”
“How were you taken? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Foster kid. No one cares about a missing 17-year-old foster kid,” she shrugged. “No one looked for me. Thought I’d run away or something.”
“You’ve really have been through hell, haven’t you?” Thor’s voice made her look at him. Two souls connected in that moment. She recognized his pain because she had seen it in the mirror for a long time after being saved.
“Yes. My hell did not become my home though. I made sure to crawl out, but I had help, Thor. Natasha helped me. Sam…he knew exactly what I had. PTSD. He helped too. I miss him.”
“Oh were you and him…lovers?” he cleared his throat.
Jasmin laughed. “No, no. It was never like that. He was just my best friend. A brother.”
“I am glad to be your friend, Jasmin,” he smiled at her. “I haven’t felt…worthy in a long time. I feel worthy of your friendship though.”
“You are worthy, Thor. No one should expect you to be okay after what you’ve been through. All the people you’ve lost.”
“I wasn’t strong enough to save them. I didn’t go for the head,” he half chuckled.
“Rocket told me you almost gave your life to make the Stormbreaker. Thor, you should not be so hard on yourself. What we have now is a rare second chance. And I mean rare. Time travel still seems to me like science fiction.”
“What do you want to do first if everything goes back to how it was?” Thor’s question startled Jasmin.
It wasn’t a question she allowed herself to ponder on. Mainly because if she was honest…she owed a lot to the snap. She had a purpose because of it. When it was all over, where would her place in the world be again? That terrified her. But even now she always felt like she was missing something. Like she was a piece of puzzle and she never quite fit in anywhere, but helping Natasha and getting to work with her had been almost perfect. Almost.
“I’d…hug Sam. I’d get to know Wanda more,” she was honest about that. Before the snap, she was skeptical around Wanda mainly because Jasmin knew what she could do. For a long time, people messed with Jasmin’s head, so she didn’t get close to Wanda even though she was really nice. “What about you?”
“Everyone I cared about died before the snap…no one would come back,” he murmured. “I don’t know. And that is the scary part. I’ve always known my path. All of my life. I would become the King of Asgard. When that didn’t really happen, I was okay with it, but then I had to take the role again when I decided to destroy my home. I was skeptical but kind of ready for it…and then Thanos happened.”
Jasmin was sure he never spoke to anyone about this. She felt special for being the person he trusted enough with these thoughts. They sounded familiar as well. He was in her shoes as well. Not finding one’s place in life even after everything.
“For now, in this moment…we are together,” Jasmin turned up the music of the song. It was an opening of anime and this was a side no one knew about. Thor grinned as he listened to it. She loved to see him smile. She sang along with it. “This is the English version. I love the Japanese version though.”
“You are truly wonderful, Jas,” Thor laughed.
“You best not tell Tony I listen to anime openings or he will definitely not let me live it down.”
Your life is your own!
Thor didn’t want this to end. He loved seeing her laugh. He loved seeing her sing to music. The passion in her eyes and the light in them gave him the courage that things would turn around. It gave him hope. She gave him hope and that was something no one had ever given to him before.
Then a song came on that got Thor’s attention. It was a guitar. Immediately Thor liked it. Then the gravel voice came on and it sent chills down his spine like his lightning did sometimes. The song spoke of being hurt. And it was as if it was speaking to him. The voice was haunting in a beautiful way. ‘Everyone I know goes away in the end’, that part brought the tears. He felt the hot tears. He had done his fair share of crying, but this felt different.
As the tears left his eyes, his chest felt lighter. He didn’t feel as heavy. Jasmin’s hand found his and she interlocked their fingers. She gave him a firm squeeze. Her way of saying ‘I understand. Let go’. The sobs came and he couldn’t stop them because he had no strength left. He released years of pain in minutes.
Jasmin pulled the SUV to the side of the road, placed the car in park and then just waited. She held his hand as Thor let go of everything he had built up for years.
A thunder started to form. Dark clouds over them and she squeezed his hand. Thor came out of it and realized what he was doing.
“Look at me,” Jasmin turned her body towards him. He looked at her and she was inhaling deeply, held it for seven seconds and then released it. “Do as I do.”
They did. He followed her breathing. He stared into her eyes as she helped him calm down. The clouds disappeared. The sun came back out. Thor felt something he had not felt in a very long time. Safe. Safe with Jasmin. She made him feel safe. Usually he was the one making others feel that. Always optimistic and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but this time, in his darkest moment, she brought him back.
“You ready?” she asked.
Thor only nodded. He didn’t trust his voice. He cleared his throat.
“All right. Let’s continue then.”
They got the food. The Chinese food and headed back to the compound. He helped her bring in everything. She took the food to the table and yelled that the food was ready.
“Thank you for today, Jas,” Thor commented as he took out the food from the bags. They were putting away the groceries as the others began to eat.
“No problem. It was therapeutic for me as well.”
Thor smiled. It was therapeutic for him. She had a way to get him to open up. Because he knew, she would not judge him. She hasn’t judged him since he arrived. She recognized his pain. They shared it. For the first time in years, he felt the warmth of the light. A silver lining as he had heard before. All thanks to the Midgardian next to him.
At dinner there was more talk about the stones. Jasmin paid attention carefully to Rocket as he explained about the power stone.
The next morning Nebula talked about Vormir. Natasha was taking notes and Jasmin was too. Apparently, it was a celestial planet.
Jasmin thought about what Rocket and Nebula said about space. She never got to go to space. When the others had gone to space, Jasmin had stayed behind in Wakanda to help those who had not been snapped. She stayed there for two months, so when she got back to the compound and Natasha told her everything that happened…Jasmin’s depression returned. The stones had been destroyed and there was no way now to bring everyone back.
“So everything should be good to go tomorrow,” Tony told the team. “Jasmin finished making the suits yesterday,” he nodded at her. “Good job.”
“I didn’t pick the colors,” Jasmin raised her hands in defense. “I said black, but Tony said white and red.”
The night before the ‘time heist’ as Tony liked to call it. Jasmin couldn’t sleep. So she got up and took her earphones with her. Music always helped her. She didn’t want to wake anyone up because there was a bunch of super humans and assassins who had super hearing. So this time she went far enough to where she knew she would not disturb anyone.
She had a special playlist for tonight. It was early 2000’s rock music. It started with Alive by P.O.D. So in her pajamas she started to dance to it. She sang along but she tried to keep her voice low. She made the math in her head and she knew someone in the group wasn’t going to make it. Music had always been an escapism for her. It got her through her depression, and it was how she released her stress. And she was extremely stressed at the moment.
The song changed to a little more mellow one. 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins. This playlist reminded her of the time when life was a little better. She was in foster homes ever since she was nine. The radio was the only way she could listen to music since she didn’t have money. There was one radio station that played all the good music and this playlist had all of those songs.
Minutes later, Jasmin felt someone watching her so she took off her earphone and turned to the entrance and saw a familiar face.
“Hey, Nat,” Jasmin was breathing hard since she was moshing to Fat Lip by Sum 41. Always a song to get her heart pounding.
Natasha was dressed in her pajamas as well. Her long hair in a braid to her right side. She walked into the gym.
“Letting out some stress?” she guessed but obviously she knew what it was.
“Yeah, we are kind of risking our lives for something we don’t even know if it’ll work,” Jasmin shrugged.
“About that. I think you should stay behind.”
Jasmin frowned. “What? Why? I’m going with Rhodey to get the power stone.”
“You said it yourself. It’s risky.”
Jasmin rolled her eyes. “Nat, don’t baby me. You know I hate it when you do.”
Natasha walked up to Jasmin and Jasmin saw something in Natasha’s eyes she had never seen before. Doubt. Fear. After all this time Nat had remained the strong one. The hopeful one. Jasmin didn’t like this look on her.
“Someone should stay behind in case something happens,” the readhead sat on a bench and patted the seat next to her. Jasmin took the seat. “You know the control board. Tony and Bruce trust you.”
“Sounds like it’s been decided for me,” Jasmin crossed her arms across her chest. “Nat, you’ve trained me for years. I’m good. You know that. I can kick ass very much like you.”
Natasha’s eyes sparkeled with pride. “Yes, I am aware, but do this for me, Jasmin,” Natasha grabbed her hand and squeezed it. “Please.”
Nat had never said please. Not once. Jasmin couldn’t refuse her because Natasha was like a sister. They had a special relationship ever since she was saved by her. Natasha had believed in her. Trained her. Then when Jasmin’s depression had come, she stuck around. She pulled her out. Jasmin owed Natasha her life and she would do anything for her.
“Well, it’s a good thing I won’t be in that god-awful suit,” Jasmin laughed.
“You made them,” Nat laughed too.
“I sure as hell didn’t design it though. Tony has horrible taste.”
Natasha placed her arm around her neck and connected their foreheads together. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“I really wanted to go to space,” Jasmin grumbled. Joking, but not really. She really did want to see space.
Thor didn’t want to admit it, but he was happy to hear that Jasmin wasn’t going to be part of the heist. He was well aware of the dangers of what they were doing. But he did see the disappointment in her face as Natasha told the team the change. Jasmin smiled and said she was happy to stay behind, but he sensed it. Her smile didn’t reach her ears.
She did change into fighting suit. It was like Natasha’s but burgundy and not as tight fit. Her hair was up in a bun. Something he had never seen. Her hair had been down all this time or at least in a ponytail. She looked like a fierce warrior. She had dual sword at her back. He realized he wasn’t sure what her specialty was. Clint was an arrow, Natasha was bullets and Jasmin was probably her sword.
Before he got on the platform, he walked up to her. Her back was to him as she pushed buttons and flicked switches. She sensed him so she turned around.
“Hey, you ready?” she looked into his eyes.
He was in fact nervous. He was going back in time to his home. The home he destroyed. A time when his mother was alive. Everyone he had lost would be alive and he wasn’t allowed to interact with any of them.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” he answered vaguely.
She pursed her lips. “I wish I was going with you. I would have loved to see Asgard,” she whispered and smiled but then slowly dropped it. “I know it’s going to be hard for you to see your home…whole. But I have faith you will get through it. Remember…your life is your own.”
“And I must not let despair take over,” he returned.
“Yes,” she grinned. “Okay, let’s do this. Let’s bring everyone back.”
He got on the platform and joined Scott and Clint.
Bruce went over what she had to do one more time before he got on the platform. Steve gave her a quick hug and gave her encouraging words. Natasha hugged her tightly and Jasmin returned it. She inhaled deeply as she memorized Natasha’s scent. Cherry blossom shampoo.
“Come back to me,” Jasmin pleaded.
“You bet,” she replied.
Jasmin watched as everyone got on the platform. Steve started to give his speech. She listened as he encouraged them to do whatever it takes. She hated that she wasn’t going to help. But at least she wouldn’t have to wait long. Bruce told her to bring everyone back in exactly one minute. It should be enough time for everyone to get the stones.
“Okay…in three…two…one,” Bruce announced and then he pointed to Jasmin and she flicked the switch.
The machine came to life and in seconds everyone was gone.
Jasmin started the timer on her watch. She felt like she was on a roller coaster just hanging on the edge of the drop, but the drop wasn’t coming.
She started to jump to calm herself.
“Get it together,” she told herself. “They’ll be okay. Thor will be fine. Nat survived Budapest, so she can do this.”
She looked at her watch and then realized only fifteen seconds had passed. She wished she had that beer Thor had offered earlier.
Then it started to get closer to sixty seconds and she was even more nervous she almost threw up her dinner. She was startled as her watch went off. In a flash everyone was back. Jasmin didn’t wait and ran up to the platform. Her eyes went to Thor and she saw that he was all good. Her eyes went to where Natasha was supposed to be.
Jasmin felt the cold creep up from her chest all throughout her body. Clint dropped to his knees.
“Clint, where’s Nat?” Bruce asked.
Jasmin met Clint’s eyes and the sorrow in her told the whole story. Natasha was gone.
Jasmin released a scream from deep within her. She dropped to her knees as the pain became a physical one. Hands soothed her back and she barely recognized it. She screamed Natasha’s name. Howling how she promised she would be back. Jasmin turned her face and cried into what she recognized Thor’s chest. She held tightly to his shirt and screamed out her pain.
“No, no, no, she can’t be gone, Thor! I can’t lose her!” she cried into his chest.
“Shhh,” he kissed the top of her head. “Let it out. It’s okay.”
“NAT!” she cried until her lungs burned.
Thor joined the others at the lake.
“How is she?” Clint asked Thor. Jasmin had to be sedated. She didn’t stop crying. Thor held her for an hour, and he had felt so powerless. She had been able to help him through his breakdown but when she needed him, he didn’t know what to say. What to do.
“She’s asleep. Rocket is looking after her,” Thor commented.
Then they started to argue about Nat. Thor mentioned how they could just go back and save her. He hated to see Jasmin so hurt. It broke his soul to see the pain in her face. Clint told them that there was no reversing it. Bruce threw the bench across the lake.
They decided for Natasha they would continue. Her sacrifice would not be for nothing.
Jasmin woke up and for a few seconds she wasn’t sure why she was in her bed. Then it all came back to her. She took in her surroundings. She was still in her suit, but she had a blanket on top of her. She removed it from her body.
“Hey,” Thor’s voice came from her right. He sat in her small armchair she had. His eyes scanned her face.
“Was it a dream?” she whispered and felt the tears again.
“No, little bird, I’m sorry.”
She sat up and felt the pounding in her head. Thor got up from his seat and then handed her some pills.
“Bruce said it would help with your headache,” he commented as he poured her a glass of water from her pitcher. He handed her the glass. “Uh, they’re just about done putting the stones in the…glove thing.”
Jasmin chuckled lightly at his choice of words. She took the pills and then drank the water. After she swallowed it, she sighed.
“Sorry about earlier…I just…lost it,” she rubbed her eyes not worried about her make up.
“It’s quite understandable, little bird. You just lost someone important to you. To all of us. If you want to wait here—”
“No, no, no, I’m better now. I promise,” she got up from her bed to where he was.
“Are you sure?”
She nodded her head. “Yes. Let’s rejoin the others.”
Thor and Jasmin walked out of her room together.
“Wait, did I see your hammer earlier?” she asked as they walked.
“Ah, yes, I figured…we’d uh…need it in case something happens. We’ll put it back once this goes smoothly as possible.”
Jasmin smiled. She knew better. He just wanted to see if he was still worthy. If he was still a good man.
“I knew it,” she shoved him and smiled but then stopped. Natasha was gone. She shouldn’t be happy.
“Little bird, don’t give into the despair,” he stopped walking and placed his hands on his shoulders.
“Little bird?” she questioned but was happy he was using her words against her.
He shrugged and she swore she saw his cheeks a little redder. “Uh, cause you sing. You like to sing like a bird. A cute bird though not like…a…hawk or something.”
Jasmin smiled. “Thank you, Thor. Let’s go get everyone back.”
Thor and Jasmin walked into the lab as the glove was done.
“Question is who’s gonna snap their freaking fingers?” Rocket commented.
“I’ll do it,” Thor walked towards the glove.
Jasmin’s eyes widened.
“Excuse me?” Tony asked.
“It’s okay,” Thor turned to say that to Jasmin, but she was still processing what was happening. He was volunteering? No, she heard what happened to Thanos when he used it. And he had been a strong ass dude.
Steve and Ton stopped him from getting to the glove. They started to argue. Thor brought up that he was the strongest Avenger.
“Just let me do it,” Thor begged Tony. “Just let me do something good.”
Bruce nudged Jasmin. He looked down to her and nodded to Thor. He understood she was the only one who could get him to back down. Tony and the others were right. He was in no condition to hold something so powerful.
“What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?” Thor asked Tony and Jasmin started to walk towards him.
“Cheese whiz,” Rhodey commented.
Jasmin stopped in her tracks and glared at Rhodey.
“Enough!” she shouted. All eyes turned to her because she never spoke so harshly. “Thor, you are not putting that glove on. And the rest of you, enough with the jokes! Your friend is depressed! You think he wants to be? Maybe if you’d tried to help him, he’d be in better shape. Maybe if you’d been his friend then he’d feel worthy! But you all just turned a blind eye. For years! So…” she took in a deep breath and released it. “it looks like the stones are made of mostly gamma radiation.”
“So?” Rocket asked.
Jasmin turned to Bruce who had already figured it out.
“So, it’s like I was made for this,” Bruce acknowledged.
Everyone got into their suits. Steve, Tony, Scott and Rhodey. Thor took Jasmin to the side.
“No one has ever stood up for me before like that, little bird,” he placed his hands on her shoulders. “Thank you.”
“Anytime, Thor,” she beamed.
“Stay near me. We are not sure what could go wrong, but I won’t let anything happen to you,” he caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers.
Jasmin wasn’t used to that intimate touching, but she didn’t mind it. “Okay.”
Everyone got around Bruce as he held the glove ready to put it on. Tony told FRIDAY to activate the Barn Door protocol. Heavy metal doors came down to close off the lab. Jasmin was nervous. She stayed close to Thor. He stood in front of her as a shield.
Jasmin watched as Bruce put the glove on. Immediately it glowed and something went up his arm. Bruce cried out in pain. Her heart started to pound against her ribs. She hated to see her friends in pain.
“Take it off! Take it off!” Thor demanded.
“Banner, are you okay?” Steve asked.
“Talk to me, Banner!” Tony shouted.
Bruce grunted but he said he was okay. Jasmin’s watch started to beep. She had forgotten it was still connected to the quantum machine. Someone had activated it from the year 2014. Then Bruce snapped his fingers. Then he fainted. Jasmin ran to him forgetting all about the notification on her watch. His entire right arm was black, and it looked horribly charred. Tony sprayed it with his freezing agent. Jasmin loomed over him and placed her hands on his cheeks.
“Bruce, can you hear me?” she asked as she opened his eyes, but he opened them on his own. She asked him to follow her finger as she moved it side to side and he did. Then a shadow went over his face. She frowned as she looked up and not a second after there were explosions.
Jasmin could hardly recall what happened next. She tasted blood and dirt in her mouth. Then she was covered in strong arms and were rolled around for a moment. She was sure she was dead. All she heard were the sounds of her heartbeat and someone else’s.
The world went black.
“Little bird,” Thor’s voice sounded like he was under water. A warm hand touched her face. “You’re bleeding.”
She opened her eyes and she was in the arms of Thor. Her head hurt worse than before, but she was alive. He looked down at her in relief.
“Can you stand?” he asked.
She nodded her head but winced when she frowned. She had a cut on her temple. She felt her legs and arms, so she was good. He helped her up and she looked around at the destroyed compound. Her eyes filled with tears. It was completely destroyed. The place she called home for years was gone in seconds. Her eyes went to the ship that hovered over them.
Thanos.
How? But quickly she made the connections in her head.
“Someone…brought them here,” Jasmin looked at her destroyed watch. “Right before Bruce snapped his fingers…someone opened it to the year 2014.”
The ship beamed someone down. Thanos. From where she was with Thor she could see it was only him. Then Nebula walked towards him.
“Nebula?” Jasmin’s heart shattered, but then she saw that Nebula remove the golden plate from her head. “Not our Nebula. 2014 Nebula who was still faithful to her father.”
Jasmin’s eyes roamed around for any sign of anyone else.
Thor didn’t move from his spot as he kept his eyes on Thanos.
“Thor?” she moved over to him.
“You’re hurt,” he finally took his eyes off of Thanos. “You should try to find the others.”
She shook her head. “No. I’m here with you.”
“Little bird,” he pleaded with his eyes, “I know you are strong, but the others need you too.”
Jasmin sighed and nodded. “Okay.” What did she expect? She was not a super soldier or a God. She didn’t have a special suit like Tony. But she could help the others. Be safe. Kick ass.”
Thor grinned. “I will. Take care, little bird.”
On her way to find the others, she found Steve and Tony. She told them where Thor was. She said she was going to try to find the glove. Keep it away from the bad guys. Moments later she heard the thunder and lightning and she grinned. She made her way through the rubble.
In her search, she could hear them battling. She heard the grunts. The yells and the clashing of weapons. She did her best to concentrate.
“Can anyone hear me?” she said into her earpiece. But no one answered. It was probably broken. Okay, okay, if she was the glove, where would she be? She tried to remember where it had been before the attack. It had been kicked away by Clint. Then when she was attending to Bruce a cell had gone off. Clint’s. “Barton, do you copy?”
“Right here,” his voice came through. At least her earpiece wasn’t broken.
She sighed. “Do you have the glove?”
“Uh, yeah it’s secured. What do I do with it?”
“Keep it away from anywhere near Thanos for now. Let’s meet.”
Jasmin was on her way to find Clint when she came across the fighting. Thanos was beating everyone. Tony had been tossed around like a doll somewhere. She watched as her friends were getting hurt and she knew there wasn’t much she could do. But she could probably help a little bit. Just cause a distraction so her friends could recover and gain momentum.
Jasmin ran towards Thanos who just smacked Thor to the ground. His back was to her, so she used a boulder to jump off of—a trick Natasha had taught her. She held her knife in her hand as she got to Thanos’ back. She climbed his back until she was on his shoulders. His armor proved it difficult but not impossible. She brought down her knife aiming for the neck, but he moved and she hit his eye instead.
Her knife dug into his eye socket. He cried out in pain and then grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Jasmin’s breath was knocked out and she was sure ribs were broken. She looked up to see an angry Thanos. He removed the knife from his eye and tossed it to the side.
His eye held fury that froze her in place. Then his eye turned to wonder. He brought his steel weapon to under her chin and lifted her head.
“You don’t even know what you are, do you?” he grunted blood oozed out his wound, but he gave no indication if it hurt or not. “Do you not recognize your own people?”
Jasmin’s eyes widened as she stared into his. She did feel something. She had thought it was the nerves, but it was something else. A calling. Blood recognizing blood.
“Cousin,” he smiled, “it’s a pity to kill one of my own, but you must go.” He raised his weapon ready to strike her down, but Thor gets between them with Stormbreaker in hand.
“RUN!” Thor bellowed at her.
Jasmin scrambled to her feet and ran away. She wasn’t sure if she helped or not. But her world shook as she realized she made a connection with Thanos. Something told her he didn’t lie. She would have worry about that later. Right now, it was all about survival.
She couldn’t find Clint. She almost gave up when she heard it.
“Cap, can you read me?” Sam’s voice filled Jasmin’s heart with joy. “On your left.”
Suddenly there were round sparkly things close to her. She made her way back to where she had been. She came just as Sam flew out of the main circle that was in the middle.
“SAM!” Jasmin waved her arms. Others started to join. From Wakanda and from other places as well. But she watched as Sam landed next to her. She ran to him and she wrapped him in a tight hug. “Sam,” she sobbed. He hugged her back.
“You got older,” he chuckled as he pulled back to look at her. “You look…good.” He smiled.
“And you not a day older,” she teased back.
“We should join the others.”
They went to the others just in time. She stood by Steve. Thor was to her left. She heard as Steve said.
“AVENGERS!” He yelled and then said. “Assemble.”
Jasmin didn’t keep count of how many ugly things she killed. She gave in to all her instincts. She released all of her anger and hurt. She was covered in blood that was not red. She wasn’t sure for how long it went on.
“Does anyone have eyes on an ugly brown van?” Steve asked.
Valkyrie replied to him. “Yeah, but you’re not going to like where it’s located.”
Then blasts started to come from the ship. It was almost impossible to find cover. Every step she took would’ve been her last if she hadn’t moved as fast as she was. She felt someone place an arm around her waist and she knew it was someone on her side because if she had taken a step, she would have died.
“Be more careful, little bird,” Thor chuckled. He released her and she turned to him. His eyes went from her toes to her disheveled hair and grinned. “You’re a fierce warrior. I like this side of you.”
She grinned too. “Now you know all about me. All the sides to it.”
“I’m impressed.”
The blasts stopped coming and they both looked up to see something coming from the sky. It looked like a falling star and it made Jasmin grin.
It was Carol. She destroyed the ship and the fight was starting to look like it was going to go their way. She ran with Thor as they headed to help to keep the glove from Thanos. When they got there, Thor went first. Jasmin covered for them as she fought off anything that tried to intervene from the other side.
Out of the corner of her eye, as she twisted the neck of an ugly alien, she saw that Thanos was about to snap his fingers.
“I am inevitable.” He snapped his fingers, but nothing happened. Her eyes went to Tony and she stopped when she saw that he had the stones. He put them in his right hand. She remembered how it almost killed Bruce. Tony would surely die if he held them by himself. She moved out of instinct and she went to her knees beside him.
She grabbed his left hand and she gasped when she felt the power of the stones. Not just that…but the power inside of her. Untapped power. Dormant. Until now. It was painful. So painful. It was like her chest was slowly exploding, but she grunted through it.
“And I am…” Tony gasped, “Iron Man.” He snapped his fingers.
The world went white. Not black like the other times. And time suspended itself. Suddenly she was back in the compound’s kitchen. The air was clean and somehow, she felt like she was in world between worlds. There was a little girl eating cereal on the breakfast table. It was herself. As a nine-year-old.
Jasmin approached her nine-year-old self carefully.
“Hi,” Jasmin greeted herself.
“Hi,” the little girl replied back.
“Is this heaven?” Jasmin asked and she felt silly.
Little Jasmin giggled and shook her head. “You’ve always known there is no heaven or hell. You’ve always known you were different.”
Older Jasmin frowned. “Me?”
“You felt the connection to your cousin,” Little Jasmin didn’t ask but stated. “Your bloods are connected by ancient blood. Eternals.”
“Eternals?”
“Do you wish to know?” Little Jasmin stopped eating her cereal and even though she looked young, her eyes expressed wisdom of thousands of years. “Knowing will come at a great cost. But you will find out your purpose.”
Jasmin nodded her head. “I want to know.”
“The answers you seek are not on Earth then,” Little Jasmin went back to eating cereal.
“Why this place?” Jasmin asked.
“Because this is where you were your happiest,” the little girl replied. Jasmin knew what she meant. She had been her happiest around Thor.
And like a rubber band being snapped, she was pulled back to her world.
“Please, little bird, wake up,” Thor’s voice was filled with hurt. Jasmin hadn’t opened her eyes yet. It proved to be difficult more so than the other two times she blacked out already. “Please. I can’t do this without you. I can’t lose you too. I will follow you into Valhalla if I have to, please don’t leave me.” Something wet hit her cheeks and then forehead. At first, she thought it was sweat, but it was tears.
Jasmin gasped awake her body convulsed like she had been drowning and it was her first breath.
“YES!” Thor boomed. His arms were holding her tightly to him. “You came back to me,” he pressed his forehead to hers. Now she felt his sweat that was across his forehead. Her hand went to his cheek. His beard was braided. She didn’t notice it before, but he looked like a Viking warrior. She always had a thing for Vikings. She licked her lips and before she took her next breath, Thor’s lips were against hers.
His mustache scratched her nose, but it didn’t really matter. All that mattered her his soft lips moving against hers. It was a loving kiss. It was filled with love and everything else as well. Gratitude. Passion. She pulled from him when she felt she needed the breathe.
“Why did you do that?” he whispered against her lips and sounded a bit mad. “My heart stopped when I saw you take his hand.”
Jasmin shrugged. “I just…knew it was what I had to do. Where’s Tony?” She finally took the moment to take in her surroundings. All the bad guys were gone, but everyone was looking the same way, so she followed their eyes.
Tony was dead. His right side of the body was burnt. The reactor light of his suit was off. Jasmin got up to her feet. She touched herself. But nothing hurt. In fact, she was sure any wounds she had were healed. Because she remembered having a busted lip from a nasty punch she got and now it was gone.
Jasmin dropped to her knees just as everyone was doing it as well. Respecting another fallen legend. How was she alive? She shared the power and she should have been in the same condition as Tony. She flinched as she figured what Thanos had said was real. They were…related. Somehow. It allowed her to withstand the power of the stones. And the answers were not on earth.
Thor didn’t see Jasmin after the battle. He tried to talk to her, but she was busy rebuilding the quantum machine to return the stones. He did wonder why she didn’t have a scratch on her when he held her. He really did think he lost her because she had stopped breathing. Her body had gone limp and there was no heartbeat but when she woke up, he forgot all about it. He kissed her. He didn’t mean to, but he had been so relieved he just needed to express it.
He had loved to see her in action. She had moved so gracefully. She was good at anticipating the next move of her opponent. Something Natasha had surely taught her. He almost got hit a couple of times because he had watched her for so long.
Natasha’s funeral was hard. He did see Jasmin, but he didn’t approach her. There was no body to bury, so there was just a headstone built for her. She and Clint held each other.
Tony’s was even harder. Thor finally met Morgan. She was the spitting image of Tony. He hoped she would grow up knowing what an amazing man her father was. The man who would not sacrifice ended up sacrificing the most.
He saw Jasmin talk to Rocket and Quill. He wondered what it was, so he approached them.
“Hey,” he placed his hand on her shoulder. She looked over to him. He had missed her dearly. What he missed the most was her laughter. Her singing.
“Thor,” she turned to him and wrapped her arms around him.
“Little bird,” he hugged her back. He kissed the top of her head. “Are you doing better?”
“Sorry I’ve been MIA. I just…had a lot to think about.”
Thor had come to read Jasmin and he could see she was struggling with something. Something big.
“I—uh—I’ve asked Rocket if I could join them,” she mumbled into his suit.
Thor stiffened. He didn’t expect that. She wanted to leave Earth.
“They’ve agreed since they knew it was me who stabbed Thanos in the eye,” she chuckled and then pulled back so they could look into each other’s eyes. “They said they’re dropping you off at New Asgard.” He searched her eyes for some kind of answer.
He understood the feel to escape when losing so many people. But was she running away? Or did she truly want to have a fresh start? He also knew this time was a fragile time because anything could put her back into her depression.
“Yes.” Was his only reply.
Jasmin wasn’t sure what she should pack. She definitely took a lot of toothpaste and several toothbrushes. She wondered if other planets had laundry mats or dry cleaners. How did it work? Or would she be in her dirty clothes for weeks? She was used to that as well. She also knew she shouldn’t pack to heavily. Definitely deodorant since she would be the only female besides Mantis. And of course, her music. Rocket had made her phone able to save all music ever created so far.
She spoke to Steve and Sam about her decision. They were skeptical at first. They didn’t know how she survived the stones, but it didn’t need to be said something was different about her now. The air around her was different and she saw the world with different eyes. Before, she didn’t feel like she had a path and now she knew what she had to do.
She had to find out what an Eternal was. Where she came from. And what her vision told her was that the answers were not on Earth. She hugged Steve and then hugged Sam.
“I’m gonna miss you, Jas,” he whispered into her ear. He kissed her temple. “You’ve been like my little sister. I hate we just got back together and you’re leaving.”
“I’ll be back. It’s not forever,” she smiled and pulled back from him.
Sam’s eyes glistened but he smiled through it. “Go kick ass in space.”
Jasmin left them and got into the ship. Thor was back in his regular clothes. She walked up to him and she held out a fist. He bumped it and chuckled. She was going on a new adventure and it was scary because she only really knew Rocket.
Jasmin wasn’t sure how to act around Thor. She still remembered the kiss. But a part of her feared he had only done it because it was an act of relief. So, she did what she knew best and acted like it never happened.
“Are you sure about going with them?” Thor asked once they were in the air and they were able to stand up and walk around. But they sat next to each other.
She nodded her head. “Not much left for me on Earth.” Did she a flash of hurt in his eyes after her comment? Thor was a King. He had his people to take care of. He had so much responsibility. Did she think about asking him to come? Yes. It kept her up at night. She wanted to explore space with him.
“Oh, right,” Thor cleared his throat. “Did you bring your music?”
“Of course. Wouldn’t survive without it.” She smiled. She pulled out her phone. She also took out her Air Pods and gave the left one to him. They had done this before. When she would make food in the kitchen and they didn’t want to wake anyone up, they used the Airpods. But something had changed between them.
She pressed the shuffle for all the songs, and it started to play ‘Shadowplay’ by The Killers. They just sat together and listened to music and the world seemed to fade away.
She laughed at his attempt to sing some of the songs. She liked he had opinions about some artists. They argued a bit about the best Muse album.
“Oh, so in love,” Mantis whispered to Drax. They watched from the other side of the room.
“Those two?” he grunted.
“Yes! So much love between them. Such deep connection,” she clapped her hands lightly. “Some darkness but also light.”
“Huh…she’s so plain and he’s so great. He could do better,” Drax walked away.
Mantis looked at the couple in awe. She liked Jasmin. But she did sense an uneasiness in her, but it was very deep.
Jasmin heard Quill said they had arrived to New Asgard. Her heart dropped as she turned to Thor. It was hard to say goodbye to Sam and Steve, but with Thor it filled her with dread. She took back her earphone. Quill came from the front and the back was opened as a ramp.
She stood up on shaky legs as Thor got up as well. She fought back tears and put her phone back in her bag. She felt the lump in her throat, and she was unsure if she could do this. Her hands started to shake as well.
“Hey, don’t take too long. We’re running on a short time,” Quill crossed his arms across his chest. His eyes on Thor.
Jasmin twirled her head to Thor in shock.
“You’re coming?” she gasped.
Thor cleared his throat and sent a glare towards Quill like he had spoiled something but then turned to her and softened his features. His blue eyes filled with curiosity.
“Do you want me to?” his voice had cracked.
“Yes,” no hesitation on her part, but she put her hand on her mouth and then shook her head. “Thor, you have your people to look after. I could never ask you to leave them.”
He cupped her face and she leaned into it. “I know. But it’s time for me to be who I am and not who I’m supposed to be.”
Jasmin grinned. “Those are some wise words. So, who are you?”
His eyes sparkled. “Someone who knows he has to be at your side. No matter where.”
Jasmin’s heart filled with joy. Her face reddened at the confession. He leaned down to kiss her and she met him halfway. She was on her tip toes and it reminded her just how much shorter she was, but she didn’t care. The kiss made up for everything. His lips molded against hers perfectly. His tongue asked to enter, and she let him. Her hands went to the back of his neck and anchored him to her. After a few moments, they pulled back and aware they had an audience the entire time.
Thor pecked her lips and told her he wouldn’t be long. She nodded and watched him leave the ship. She placed her hand over her chest willing her heart to stop beating so fast, but she was so happy. This kind of happiness wasn’t something she was used to. Was it possible to feel happiness even in the roots of her hair? It tingled and she released a shaky breath.
“So, heard you like music,” Quill joined her.
Jasmin turned to him. “Yes. Rocket said you did too. That your mom had left you cassette tapes? That’s so cool.”
“Yeah, not to brag,” he crossed her arms and leaned against the ladder that was connected to the cockpit, “but I have pretty good taste and a bunch of good songs on my Zune.”
Jasmin snorted and laughed. “Zune? What year is it? 2011?” When Quill’s face reddened in embarrassment, she knew she had hurt his ego. “I mean—it’s a timeless treasure. Please still let me go with you guys.”
“What do you use?” Quill asked nonchalantly. She took out her phone from her bag and waved it. “That’s…so ancient!” He laughed.
“Jasmin has better taste in music than you Quill,” Rocket joined the conversion and was standing on a table. “Don’t worry about Quill.” he told her. “He thinks he’s the only being who loves music or something.”
“You call her by her first name? And not even in a mean way,” Quill narrowed his eyes at Rocket. “He likes you?” he turned to Jasmin.
“Maybe because she’s actually cool. You didn’t see her fight those bastards? She was slashing them up left and right! And respects me!” Rocket shouted back and waved his fist at Quill.
“What music do you listen to?” Mantis asked. “Quill’s music is getting tiresome.”
“Hey!” Quill stood up straight. “What is this mutiny?”
“I don’t want to cause trouble,” Jasmin waved her hands. “And listen to a lot of types. Metal, country, blues, metal core and some pop punk.”
“Those words sound so made up,” Drax squinted his eyes. “But pirate angel was right…all words are made up.”
Jasmin chuckled knowing she was going to get along with them just fine.
“Let’s do a music battle,” Rocket grinned and crossed his arms across his chest. “Who’s music we like the best by votes will get control of what we listen to for the next…hmm…let’s say year.”
“WHAT?” Quill shouted.
“That is fair,” Mantis nodded.
“Whatever, I know it’s going to be me,” Quill scoffed and took out his Zune and started scrolling.
“I am groot,” Groot nodded his head and had finally looked up from his new Nintendo Switch. A gift from Jasmin since Rocket had mentioned that Groot was a teenager and had obsessed over an old console he had.
“You flatter me, Groot,” Jasmin told him.
“You understood him?” Rocket asked with a raised eyebrow.
She had. She knew what he had meant. How did she know? The room went silent and all she heard was her heartbeat. She was unsure how she had understood. She just did.
“Where is Thor anyway?” Quill changed the subject and she could breathe again.
“I’ll go get him,” Rocket offered.
“I’ll come!” Jasmin followed Rocket out of the ship. She bit her lip. What was she? Ever since she touched the stones, she felt changed. Like something had awakened inside of her. This was why she wanted answers. She needed to know.
Her worries went out the window when she saw the sight before her. New Asgard was at the coast and it was beautiful. The ship had landed on a cliff with grass that overlooked the water. It was so gorgeous, and the sun was still out so it made the water shine.
Her eyes moved to the two figures standing. Thor had his duffle bag over his shoulder. Valkyrie stood next to him with her head held high.
“Your majesty,” Thor told her and bowed.
Majesty? He gave his title to her. Of course, his people still needed a leader.
“Congratulations,” Jasmin said as she approached them. “I’m sure you will be a great ruler.”
Valkyrie turned her piercing eyes to her, and Jasmin felt frozen in place. Those eyes were accessing her. They didn’t have a chance to talk before. Valkyrie approached Jasmin and then she was embraced by her. Tightly.
“I see the change in him,” she whispered next to Jasmin’s ear. “And it’s because of you.”
“I only…treated him like I wanted to be treated,” Jasmin replied honestly.
“Snooze it or lose it!” Rocket called out.
Valkyrie released her and smiled. “Keep him safe.”
“Of course,” Jasmin nodded her head. Valkyrie hugged Thor and then stepped back. Jasmin held out her hand to Thor and he smiled widely. He took her hand and they walked back towards the ship.
“You wanted to see space? Let’s do it together,” he told her and squeezed her hand. She squeezed it back.

Love Is A Losing Game
Tumblr media
A/n: I’ve had this little drabble in my head for a while now. It’s part of something bigger, but sometimes you just need to post something.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X OC
Warnings: endgame spoilers. kinda. ok. a big one.
Tumblr media
“Sisters! I accept!” I spoke into the air. Then I felt the woosh. Time literally was frozen. Just as Tony’s heart was about to give out. I glanced around to see Steve about to take a step towards me. Ashes still in the air. All sound stopped and all I could hear was my ragged breathing.
“You are sure?” a soft voice spoke, and I twirled to see the sisters. Dressed in black robes. They were ancient but looked no older than me. Walking closer to me. They stopped near my brother. Pepper’s hand over his reactor. The light almost extinguishing. “There are no take backs. Hades wants your soul.”
“Save Tony. Spare his life, and I accept. That’s the deal, right? I ask you to spare someone and I…take their place.”
The sisters looked at each other wickedly. “Yes, it is the deal. And you wish to waste it on him?” she scoffed.
“He literally saved all of us. Please, he deserves a happy ending.”
“And you? Don’t you deserve to be happy? With the man out of time?” she pointed behind me. I didn’t look back to know who she was talking about.
“He will mourn, but I know his heart has always been with someone else. And Morgan deserves to have Tony for a lot longer than a few years.”
“Deal. Do you wish to say goodbye?” they asked in unison.
I shook my head. Afraid I would take it back.
“A soul for a soul. Hades will be pleased,” they cackled and disappeared. Then time started to move. I was able to watch as Tony gasped for air. His reactor turned bright—the brightest I had ever seen it. Steve grabbed my arm and I turned around. The last thing I saw were those eyes I fell in love with all those years ago. I felt my body give out. He caught me. My hand went to his cheek. I felt his tears hit my cheek meeting my own tears.
“What did you do?” he sobbed.
I could not find the strength to say anything, so I hoped my eyes had said all there was to be said. I closed my eyes. Happy that my life was worth something.
**
Steve could cry no more. The past two weeks were a blur. His eyes were sore from crying. As a super soldier that meant he had done a lot of crying. Mostly because he didn’t understand what happened. She had been fine. She had no wounds that were fatal. The doctors just say her heart gave out. He stood at the edge of the lake. Not as many people turned out. Mostly because she didn’t make a lot of friends. He scoffed. In his hands was her dagger. The dagger she played with mindlessly all of the time.
In meetings, during a stake out, when she was watching Netflix. God, he missed her. Missed her annoying ass asking dumb questions about the past.
“Damn, Rogers, you were a sickly little dude,” she flipped the page of his file. “You should be dead right now.”
He had scolded her for snooping. Now he wished more than anything for her to be here.
“You okay, Rogers?” Tony placed his hand on his shoulder. His eyes went to the dagger and it made Tony’s chest ache. His little sister...gone. He knew what had happened. He had been on the brink of death, so when time stopped, he had seen those women. Three women. But he had been unable to say anything as she gave up her life for him. He didn’t know how to explain it. All he knew was that his little sister saved his life.
“I just…wish she was here,” Steve sighed. “I…uh…should get in the suit. Gotta put those stones back.”
Steve started to walk away.
“Steve,” Tony called out ready to say what he had seen, but then when he saw Steve’s eyes. He knew that if he said anything, Steve would do anything to get her back. He would not stop until she was back. Tony had no idea if there even was a way. “We all miss her. Don’t isolate yourself.”
Steve half smiled. “Of course not.”

What A Peach feat. Bucky Barnes (1/2)
Pairing: Bucky x OC (female)
warnings: slight mention of physical abuse
summary: Silvia never got to go prom, but she gets a chance to experience it and maybe even kiss her long time crush. But will she work up the courage to speak more than a word to him?
Tumblr media
It was one of those rare months where there wasn’t much to do at the compound. The world didn’t need saving and the bad guys were quiet. Silvia decided it was a good time to catch up on her shows, so she took over the theater room and started to watched Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. It was what made her go into law enforcement making her stand out in the academy, she was approached by Shield and the rest was history. So she had her snacks, hot Cheetos with lime and covered in hot sauce Valentina.
She was half way through an episode when the door opened and Sam saw her. He stood at the door as he watched what she was watching and then took a seat next to her. He eyed her snack and grimaced.
“You’re gonna get a hole in your stomach with those things,” he told her.
“Well aware of it. Don’t care,” she muttered back and made sure to crunch louder so he would get it.
After one, the another started. This episode included a prom scene. Her stomach dropped at the sight of the young couple slow dancing. She released a long sigh.
“You good?” Sam asked beside her.
“Just sucks I never got to go to prom,” she shoved some cheetos into her mouth afterwards.
“Wow, really?” he shifted in his seat to face her. “Why not? Didn’t have a date?”
“Well…I was being abused physically and the foster parents refused to pay for the ticket,” she said nonchalantly.
Sam winced. “Shit, sorry.”
She shrugged. “Ancient history.” She lied to herself yet another time. She blinked away the tears and focused on the rest of the episode. After a couple more, she and Sam decided it was time to go to bed. Silvia never wanted anyone’s pity. She shouldn’t have let slip to Sam about her past.
On her way to the kitchen to throw away her cheeto bag, she saw Bucky. Her heart ached at the sight of him. He looked so casual with a bowl of cereal and a book in his hand. His hearing was so good he noticed her within seconds. She had merely stood there. She didn’t have much contact with him, but she still waved her hand. He waved back with his book. She walked over to his direction, but walked in front of him instead of behind. She threw away the bag and used the sink to wash her hands. Her right pointing finger and thumb were going to be stained for next couple of days.
She headed back towards her room once again passing in front of Bucky.
“Night,” she mumbled.
“Night,” he replied and she felt her heart do a flip at the sound of his voice—directed towards her.
**
Silvia sat at the very end of the table, away from everyone as Steve gave the briefing of the upcoming mission. Silvia is a pilot and her job was to drop them off and pick them up. She was great at it and they trusted her. Bucky was in this mission, so she did her best to keep her eyes to herself and not see if he was looking at her—he never looked at her. This time they were going over Saudi Arabia and she had to pick them up in Afghanistan—how that was going to work, she wasn’t sure.
“Any questions?” Steve asked as he finished.
“Saudi Arabia is aware of this mission?” Bucky asked. Silvia couldn’t help, but turn her eyes to him since everyone else did. She could see he didn’t like the attention even if it was because he asked something.
“Only certain government officials. Technically, we were never there and if we are caught, they will not vouch for us,” Steve’s tone told everything.
The entrance door opened and in walked Tony Stark. Sunglasses and all. He was supposed to be retired, so it was always nice to see him. She admired him for all he had been through.
“Wow, I am gone for one day and you’re all having fun without me,” he grinned. His eyes went to the screen where the plan was laid out. “Ooh, make sure to wear sunscreen guys.”
“Tony, always a pleasure,” Steve’s sarcasm was obvious. “What can we do for you?”
“If you insist to know, I’m throwing a party…the theme? 2000’s. So…suit up,” he winked at Silvia and she laughed knowing he was mocking Steve.
No one was surprised Tony was throwing yet another party. It had to be his sixth one this year and it was only April. She liked them. She could relax and listen to some good music because Tony had great taste in music. They even had some in common. So she knew she was going to have a good time. And 2000’s were hard times for her, but she could get past it.
“Got it,” Steve muttered. “Everyone…suit up.”
Silvia stifled a laugh and Tony winked at her again. Her eyes automatically went to Bucky—she always checked on him—and for the first time, she met his gaze. She immediately dropped her smile. She didn’t expect to meet his ocean eyes. She gathered her things and went to suit up.
**
The mission went a little rougher than expected. Sam was wounded, but Silvia flew them back in record time, to make sure he got patched up. She went to visit him when it was cleared. He groaned when he woke up. She stood beside him.
“Sucks not having fast healing abilities,” he muttered. He smacked his lips, and she was well aware he had to be thirsty because of the oxygen. She immediately gave him the cup of water she had already poured. She had her fair share of hospital stays while she was younger.
‘Slipping down the stairs’,’running into doors’ and all those lame excuses.
“Thanks,” he drank it.
“Glad you’re okay. Who else is gonna help me finish SVU?”
He chuckled, but then winced in pain. “Shit. I know you’ve seen it already.”
She laughed. “Yeah, plenty of times.”
“Wait, shouldn’t you be getting ready for Tony’s party?” he watched the clock across from his bed on the wall.
She shrugged. “Didn’t wanna leave you alone.”
He rolled his eyes. “I’ll be fine. Plus, you might get the courage to mutter more than one word to Barnes.”
Silvia widened her eyes and shook her head. “WHAT?” she said a little to loud.
“Wow, you just gave yourself away. I mean, I had a suspicion, but you’re usually good at hiding things, but this…totally confirmed it.”
Silvia rolled her eyes the same way he had done. “Shut up. My life is not a book where at the dance I’ll work up the courage to ask my crush to dance. This is real life.”
“Go for me, then,” he took her hand. “Have some fun.”
“Okay, for you, Wilson.”
**
Silvia found a box outside of her room with her name on top. She took the box inside. Giddy cause she always loved to get presents. Something that always lacked in her childhood. She opened the box and found a dress. It was a light peach color. There another note inside with Tony’s handwriting.
‘Pepper insisted this was meant for you. Please do not disappoint her and wear it’
Of course she couldn’t disappoint Pepper. But the dress was not 2000’s, but she figured it was okay since it was approved.
She took it out of the box and audibly gasped. It was so beautiful. Feeling inspired by her dress, she did her hair and makeup. When she was done, she examined herself in the mirror. She definitely looked like a whole another person. She couldn’t remember the last time she wore a dress. Probably the last time she was forced to go to church in high school.
Silvia shook away the bad memories. She got her clutch she had filled with her things to touch up her makeup and then headed out. The party wasn’t in the compound, so she had to drive herself to Tony’s home.
On her way, she listened to her 80’s music playlist. She got to Tony’s home in record time the traffic wasn’t as bad. She saw that she was the first one to arrive. She didn’t see any other cars parked outside. She was always on time to things. She got out of her car and headed inside. The front door was already open and she was shocked to see Bucky waiting in the foyer.
She stopped in her tracks to admire him in a suit. It was a little too tight around his arms. His hair was pulled back in the low ponytail. The navy suit looked really good and she couldn’t help but let her eyes wonder. He was facing away from her with his hands in his pockets, but he quickly sensed her and turned around.
Silvia’s body tensed. For a moment, he didn’t seem to recognize her, then his eyes bulged out of his eye sockets. The shock expression was the first one she had seen on him. He recovered quickly and he turned his down in shame.
“Hi,” he murmured, “Tony told me to wait here.”
“Di-did you drive?” she pointed outside because she didn’t see another car.
“Steve dropped me off. He said he forgot something and headed back,” he sighed. “You look…great.”
Silvia swears her heart stopped for that compliment. Her breathing hitched, but she recovered. “Thank you…and you…look…good.”
He shifted uncomfortably whether by her compliment or because the suit was too tight, she wasn’t sure.
“Is it just you?” she asked.
He nodded his head.
“Sil,” Tony’s voice came from her right. He was dressed in a suit. “Manchurian candidate,” he muttered to Bucky. “Would you guys take a picture with me?”
Silvia looked around the foyer. “Here?”
“Nah, inside, duh,” he walked past them and they figured they should follow. Bucky half bowed a signal for her to go first. Always a gentleman, she thought. She followed Tony and felt Bucky behind her.
Tony led them to his living room, but it was all changed up to look like…a prom? There was a big banner that said ‘A night under the stars’, a ballon arch where there was a photographer set up with a background of the stars.
“I thought the theme was 2000’s,” she told Tony.
“Uh, well, full disclosure,” Tony turned around and stopped next to the photographer. “Wilson told me about how you missed your prom.”
Silvia clenched her fists. “That bastard.”
“Look, I am one of the few who know about your past, so I knew why. He just said he felt bad you missed prom.”
“Prom?” Bucky asked behind her.
“It’s a dance for graduating high schoolers. A rite passage,” Tony waved his hand. “And little miss Silvia missed it, so…Pepper and I thought we were already going to throw a party…might as well make it for you.”
Silvia’s throat felt ten times thicker and her eyes burned. Her stomach had dropped and her heart was accelerated. She never knew they cared this much. Sure, she talked to most of them, but she was only close to Tony, Pepper and Sam. The others she just talked to about work.
“Are you going to cry?” Tony grimaced. “I’ve literally never seen you cry…not even when we watched Up.”
“I’m not crying,” she blinked then away, but her cracked voice gave her away. “That’s really sweet of you guys, thank you, but I’m still killing Sam.”
“Won’t hold you back…but…come on…we fooled you,” Tony grinned. “So pictures? Manchurian candidate wanna be her date?”
Silvia immediately spoke up for Bucky turning to him. “You don’t have to do that,” she told him. “I can take a pictur—“
“It’d be my pleasure,” he didn’t let her finish and walked over to her and offered his hand. She gave him a small smile and placed her hand on top of his.
“Great, give her this,” Tony manifested a corsage that matched her dress and handed it to Bucky. “It’s tradition. Around her wrist.”
Bucky didn’t argue or questioned it. He took it from Tony, took it out of the plastic box and placed it around her left wrist. She thanked him quietly. Then Tony shoved them in front of a camera, like a father would. She had imagined this when she was younger. She couldn’t believe these people cared enough for her to give her an experience she never thought she would get and with someone she really liked.
Silvia had a family all this time and she didn’t even know it. Tony took his own pictures with his phone. She couldn’t help but laugh and she covered her face with her left hand. She turned to Bucky.
“I’m sorry he dragged you into this.”
Bucky smiled, genuinely smiled at her. It made her heart stop at the sight of it. God, was she in love? She was doomed if she was.
“I know a thing or two about missing out on things. Just glad you get the chance to experience this. Glad I’m here for you.”
His eyes said a lot of things, but she wasn’t sure if she was reading him correctly. The last thing she wanted to assume was that Bucky Barnes had feelings for her as well. They hardly talked.
“What else do you do at prom?” he asked when the photographs were over.
Silvia shrugged. “I didn’t go to mine, remember?”
“Right…damn…forgot. Sorry.”
“Well, mine was filled with dirty dancing and alcohol,” Tony told them. “But the others are coming, so it won’t be so awkward.” He pointed between them.
She was thankful to Tony, but she might kill him too.

Without You
Tumblr media
“If this is the end,” I told my friends—my family. Steve to my right, Tony to my left and Clint and Natasha across from me and now Rocket. “Then maybe it’s time.” I turned to Tony and he narrows his eyes in suspicion. I always said I was going to do it, but I always teased him. Not today. No, I learned every moment was precious. So here I am going to reveal my deepest, darkest secret.
“You’re not joking, right?” Tony placed his hand on my shoulder, “because I don’t think I can contain this secret anymore.”
“Secret?” Steve raised an eyebrow. I heard his tone. I didn’t really keep secrets from him so he probably thought it was something big.
“Is it a limb?” Rocket wondered.
“Once it’s out, you can’t take it back,” Clint warned me. Of course he knew, he had been my SO. He had known all along.
I sighed. This was the right thing. “In high school, I....I...was in Glee.”
“Oh my god,” Natasha laughed. “You? Seriously?”
“What does that mean?” Steve had felt he had been caught up with everything but he didn’t know what it meant. I felt bad for not really explaining.
“Glee?” Rocket crossed his arms across his chest.
“She was in choir basically,” Clint explained. “On purpose like an after school club.”
“Took my school all the way to Nationals two years in a row,” I pointed to Natasha. “Why did you laugh?”
“It’s just hard to imagine you singing and dancing on stage because I’ve seen you do some dark stuff.” She shrugged.
“We all have a past.” I shrugged my shoulders. Steve chuckled and the rest followed. I guess my ‘dark secret’ wasn’t so dark. “You suck. Do ya’ll wanna hear me or not?”
Steve took my hand making me turn to him. I smiled to him. “C’mon, let’s hear it.”
I took a deep breath and close my eyes. Steve was still holding my hand. I probably should have warmed up my voice since it’s been so long, but I actually didn’t plan for this.
“Okay, now it just feels—“
“Aw come on!” Tony scoffed.
“Seriously gonna do this?” Clint shook his head.
“You always do this!” Tony waved his hand. “How do I always fall for it?”
“Be nice to the boys,” Natasha grinned.
I laughed at their reactions. “Fine, fine.”
“Can I make a request?” Tony held his hand up. “Maybe ‘Barbie Girl’?”
“Is that the last song you wanna hear?” I chuckled and so did everyone else and took his hand because this was about to get a whole lot serious. He squeezed my hand and Steve squeezed the other one.
“You know which one,” Tony winked at her.
I nodded my head. “This ain’t a song for the broken-hearted. No silent prayer for the faith-departed. I ain’t gonna be just a face in the crowd. You’re gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud. It’s my life. It’s now or never I ain’t gonna live forever! I just want to love while I’m alive. My heart is like an open high way. Like Frankie said I did it my way! I just  want to live while I’m alive. It’s my life.”
“Bon Jovi as a farewell song. I like it,” Clint nodded his head.
“I, for sure, thought Barbie Girl was the way to go,” Tony shrugged.
“Okay, now for my actual song.” I tugged on Tony’s hand to get his attention. I closed my eyes and began.
I can't win, I can't reign
I will never win this game without you, without you
I am lost, I am vain,
I will never be the same without you, without you
I won't run, I won't fly
I will never make it by without you, without you
I can't rest, I can't fight
All I need is you and I, without you, without you
Oh oh oh
You! You! You!
Without
You! You! You!
Without you
Can't erase, so I'll take blame
But I can't accept that we're estranged without you, without you
I can't quit now, this can't be right
I can't take one more sleepless night without you, without you
I won't soar, I won't climb
If you're not here, I'm paralyzed without you, without you
I can't look, I'm so blind
I lost my heart, I lost my mind without you, without you
Oh oh oh
You! You! You!
Without
You! You! You!
Without you
I am lost, I am vain
I will never be the same without you, without you
Without you
Steve pulled me in and kissed me. Years of pining over each other were released in this ferocious kiss. Tongue and teeth were involved. After a few moments passed, it slowed down. We started to enjoy each other and then we both pulled for air.
“Finally,” Clint grunted.
“I’m the dramatic one?” Tony scoffed. “You two literally waited until the very last minute to kiss.”
“Just needed to find the right moment,” Steve grinned down at me. He and I were going to be separated for the first time in years. The ache in my chest felt like it was going to end me. “You gonna come back in one piece?”
“Only if you are here waiting for me,” I kissed him again. When he pulled back, he was serious.
“You can bet on that.”

We Had Magic feat. Bucky Barnes
Tumblr media
The signs were all there. I turned a blind eye for love. I did the one thing I promised myself that I would never do and that was let love fool me. I saw him across the room—hidden from everyone else, but I could see them. His hand on her lower back, leaned in—whispering in her ear making her giggle. That same fire in his eyes he gave me when we were in bed. And here I was even though I wasn’t supposed to be here. A surprise I had been working on because his birthday was coming up. I had told him a white lie that I had to stay home because I had to finish a song for an artist. Now I realized why he wasn’t so upset about it. He never liked coming to these get togethers Tony threw.
I played with my engagement ring as I continued to dig holes into him. He still didn’t see me. I had a chance to leave. I really should go over there, slap him and throw this ring in his face, but I’ve never been cheated on before. I never thought this would happen to me. I had consoled friends who had been through it. Friends who told me had caught their partners red-handed but couldn’t confront them. I had told them they should have slapped them and made a scene, but my feet were frozen in place.
Everyone else laughed and lived their lives whilst my whole world was shattering. I pieced everything together over the past six weeks. I had thought it was all in my head because of how much I was working. And considering the holidays had just passed a couple of months ago—he had met all of my family—I thought we had just fallen out of rhythm. My family had adored him. My father had actually approved. He had been skeptical because of Bucky’s past, but he had won him over.
I willed myself to look away and turned my heel. I didn’t want to make a scene. I was raised properly. But I was met with a wall of flesh. I looked up and saw Thor smile brightly down at me. He saw my face and frowned.
“Why are you sad?” his concern did nothing to me. I just wanted to get away. “I thought Barnes said you couldn’t come because of work.”
“I wanted to surprise him,” I spoke, but felt like I hadn’t had water in days. “Look, I-uh—I just got a call so I have to go.”
“Hey!” Tony joined in and placed his hand on my shoulder. “Everything is set up for Frosty,” Bucky’s new nickname. “The small stage with the piano,” he gestured behind him. “Know I’m only doing this for you. Why the face?”
My eyes went to the stage that was in the middle of the room. I had written a beautiful song about our love. Our love that was a sham. He made it a sham. He was over here flirting with his mistress in front of all our friends. Granted he knew them first, but they were my friends as well now too. My hurt was pushed to the side and rage took over. Why shouldn’t I make a scene? I deserved to show them what kind of person he was.
“You still gonna sing for him?” Tony placed his hand on my arm now moving it from my shoulder. He squeezed it to bring me back.
“Yeah, of course,” I smiled. “Where is he?” I asked as if I didn’t know.
“Uhhh, he was by the bar last I saw,” Tony turned to look at the room and his eyes landed on where I had seen Bucky and his eyes narrowed. “I’ll be back.” He said through gritted teeth. Thor had followed Tony leaving me all alone.
Now they knew too. I should make this getaway. But I didn’t want to give Bucky Barnes the fucking satisfaction. Angry again, I knew what I had to do. I started to make my way towards the stage. Steve had caught my eye—he had been talking to Natasha and Clint—when he saw me, he stopped and his eyes quickly assessed everything. He got up from the couch, but for once I was faster than him. I got to the stage and took the microphone.
“HI!” I nearly screamed into the microphone causing a feedback that clearly got all of the attention. People groaned, but turned around to see me. I turned towards Bucky had been, now surrounded by Tony and Thor backed up against the wall. His face said it all—guilt. He had been caught.
“Ahem, my name is Rosie and—as some of you know—I am engaged to Bucky,” I pointed towards him. Tony and Thor moved so everyone could see him. His blue eyes were wide and filled with regret. “Um, I am a songwriter and I wrote this song for his birthday. Hope you like it, doll.”
I moved to the piano and sat down. I placed the microphone with shaky hands into the holder. But I didn’t stop. I shouldn’t be doing this. I shouldn’t do this. This song had been written for someone else, not for him. Yet it fit perfectly.
I hovered my shaky hands over the keys, but only hesitated a moment before I started to play.
“I am done
Smoking gun
We've lost it all
The love is gone
She has won
Now its no fun
We've lost it all
The love is gone
And we had magic
And this is tragic
You couldn't keep your hands to yourself
I feel like our world's been infected,
And somehow you left me neglected
We've found our life's been changed
Babe, you lost me
And though we tried
Oh how we cried
We lost ourselves
The love has died
And though we tried
You can't deny
We're left as shells
We lost the fight
And we had magic
And this is tragic
You couldn't keep your hands to yourself
Oh, I feel like our world's been infected
And somehow you left me neglected
We've found our life's been changed
'Cause babe, you lost me
Now I know you're sorry
And we were sweet
But you chose lust when you deceived me
And you'll regret it, but it's too late
How can I ever trust you again?
I feel like our world's been infected,
And somehow you left me neglected
We've found our life's been changed
Oh babe, you lost me.”
I got up with tears coming down my face. I couldn’t face Bucky, so I made my way towards the exit. I heard him call out my name. There was commotion like he was being held back.
“Give her space,” Tony growled.
“You respect her,” Thor said through gritted teeth.
I got on the elevator and met eyes with Bucky. He flinched as he saw me, like seeing me so destroyed finally told him what he has done. I would never be his doll again.

No More Bad Days
Tumblr media
A/N: just a short Drabble because I felt like writing and this song has been stuck in my head for days now.
TC: no more bad days by this wild life
My heart ached as the group of children huddled together. This group had lost all of their family. Parents, aunts, uncles. Maybe some looked to have siblings, but I could see everyone had gloomy faces. We had just finished settling everyone to their sleeping locations. I figured Thor would take us back to Earth. It was sure gonna be a hell of an adjustment for Asgardians as for humans. But I wanted to do something nice for them, maybe give them a piece of my world. I remembered seeing Loki, so I went to find him.
He wasn’t hard to find. I tapped his shoulder and he turned around. He didn’t look at me like before. Before he saw what I could do, he would look at me like a bug, so easily crushed, but now that he knew my true power, he had admiration in his eyes.
“What can I do for you?” he asked.
“Can you make a guitar?” I questioned. “Like the ones on Earth?”
He narrowed his eyes. “What for?”
“I feel like everyone could use a little music. Just something for the kids that lost everything.”
“You will make a great queen,” he muttered, but I wasn’t sure I heard right.
“A what?”
A guitar appeared out of thin air in his hands and I gasped. It had a strap and even a pick. “That’s still cool. Thanks!”
I went back to the group I saw earlier. I approached them carefully. Their eyes still stained with tears.
“Do you like music?” I asked as I strapped the guitar. Their attention went to me and several nodded their heads. “Well, since we are going to Earth. I figured you should learn a song from there. Would you like to hear it?”
“Yes,” a little girl smiled. Her clothes were dirty and she had dried blood on her forehead.
“Okay, well, this is a guitar. I’m sure you have something similar,” I strummed the strings and their eyes widened. “Now, I’m a little rusty, but I’ll do my best.” I cleared my throat.
“I thought we hit rock bottom And then the floor gave out. The year you lost your health. The year we lost our house.” I haven’t lost my whole planet, but I did remember getting evicted from my childhood home because my mother couldn’t pay the mortgage after my father left us for his ‘other’ family. She and I slept in a car for months or in shelters. I knew what it was like to lose a home. “I think the world has a way. Of choosing the worst day. To knock us down. And drag us out,” I sang a song I remembered a lot because it spoke to my experience.
“But every door that's closed Opens a new window. Oh oh, no more bad days. It’s clear from here. No more bad days. For you, my dear. Because my legs are strong My arms are stretched so long I will always reach for you 'Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful,” A bigger crowd than the children had gathered around me.
“In everything you do You may have given up But I will lift you up I will always carry you 'Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful In everything you do I thought we hit rock bottom And then the floor gave out Yeah, it was hard back then It's even harder now 'Cause when you're young and poor You hope for so much more I hope for rain to wash us clean And make a brand new start For both our tired hearts. Oh oh no more bad days. It’s clear from here. No more bad days For you, my dear. Because my legs are strong. My arms are stretched so long. I will always reach for you. ’Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful In everything you do You may have given up But I will lift you up. I will always carry you. ’Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful. In everything you do. Resilience is my promise. I’ll never give up on us. Just lift your head up higher.d I’ll be here when you're tired. And need some peace. Just get some sleep. Because my legs are strong. My arms are stretched so long. I will always reach for you. ’Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful. In everything you do. You may have given up. But I will lift you up. I will always carry you. ’Cause you are sweet and pure. Yeah, you are beautiful. In everything you do.”
They clapped as I finished. I saw smiles and most of all I saw hope. Hope in their eyes. I was going to make sure they felt welcomed. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be easy, but I would help in any way.

Walk With Me Pt 5
This is my entry for @dinnafashsoldat POC Writing Challenge.
Prompts: “You’re not taking me to bed. Ever.” “Who said it had to be the bed?” and “I wasn’t lying when I said I loved you.” Mexican!OC
A/N: I am a Mexican girl so when I saw this writing challenge I had to get on board. It is going to be about a 5-6 mini series. I love Thor. He’s my favorite! Even over Bucky and Steve because he’s just so…perfect and needs to be protected
It’s almost done! Just one more chapter!
Tumblr media
Soccer is life. Or at least it was my life. I truly, wholeheartedly, believed when I was eleven and twelve that I was going to be a soccer player. I lived and breathed for the sport. It was how my father and I got close. He would come to my games and cheered me on. It was how Ernesto and I bonded as well. He and I would talk about players like Americans talk about Football players. With my brother’s death, so did my love for the sport. I couldn’t watch a single game for years. I did move on and eventually watched a game, but it had been bittersweet. . So when I woke up I had a lot of mixed feelings. But I was also excited. Everyone in my family knew how competitive I was.
Then it hit me that not only was I home, but Thor was with me. I turned around and saw that his bed was empty. Panic shot through me as I thought of what could be happening. I heard music coming from the kitchen and almost everyone was up and already in their uniforms. Yes, our family had uniforms. Thor was talking to my brother, well, my brother was talking and Thor was listening. They were all on the round table we’ve had for twenty years and eating eggs with ham, which was what my mom made every morning before a game.
“You’re awake,” Thor beamed from the table his plate cleaned off. “I wanted to wake you, but you were so sound asleep I let you sleep in a little.”
“You sure her loud snores didn’t wake you up?” Betty snickered. I glared at her.
“Shut up.” I muttered and sat down across from Thor. My mom placed a plate in front of me and kissed the top of my head making me smile.
“I had to live with it for all my life,” Betty rolled her eyes.
“You were the crazy sleeper. You started at the top of your bed and somehow ended up at the foot of your head,” I muttered back.
Betty feigned a shock expression and then shrugged. “I still don’t snore like you. Thor, seriously, how do you deal with it?”
“Because your sister’s heart is made of gold and she is passionate about what she does,” he replied. I bit my lip trying not to blush, but it didn’t work.
“Buenos dias,” my father walked into the kitchen.
“Buenas,” everyone replied as we all used to.
“Buenas,” Thor followed along.
My dad sat next to me and he had a plate in front of him immediately. I reached for the salsa and placed it next to my dad’s plate. He thanked me. I knew he ate almost everything with my mom’s delicious spicy salsa. Breakfast was pretty normal. Almost weird since it had been over six years since we all sat down together. Adding Thor to the mix was exciting.
“Do you remember when Dulce’s 15 it started raining during her pictures?” Junior laughed. “And… her….” he was laughing between words, “hair was…ruined and…she…legit cancelled the party?”
I rolled my eyes. “I tried to, but thankfully the venue let us move the party inside even though we had not paid for that cause it was cheaper to have it outside.”
“Fifteen?” Thor’s forehead crinkled.
“So in our culture—Mexican—and most latinos we have this…rite of passage for women. When they turn 15, we have a party for them to officially introduce them into society,” Betty explained.
“It was a way to let the town know ‘my daughter can marry now’,” Camila grumbled.
“Ay, Camila,” my mother groaned.
Thor still looked confused.
“Camila refused to have a 15th because she believed that it sent women backwards,” I told him.
“It does! Elizabeth is never gonna have one. Unless she wants one, but it’ll be her choice! That’s all I want. For my daughter to have choices,” she explained.
“That’s all we want too,” my dad chimed in. “Ahora, Dulce, cuando te vas a cambiar?”
“Okay, okay, ya voy,” I raised my hands in defense.
**
Once we were at the park the captains of the teams were selected. My brother and her fiancé were selected as captains. Since this whole thing was for them. A coin was tossed to decide who went first to select and my brother won. He took a moment to gloat and then pointed his finger at me. My future sister-in-law groaned.
“That’s not fair! We all know your sister is the star player.”
My brother winked at her. “You lost babe, now choose.”
Melissa crossed her arms across her chest and huffed but her eyes moved as I went to my brother’s side and fist pumped. My competitive side was coming out. Blood was pumping. It wasn’t surprise she chose Thor first since she thinks that because he is a god he is going to give her the advantage. But regardless of mortality he was going to get killed. Soon the teams were picked and I was with Camila. Betty was with Melissa.
My dad was going to be the referee. There weren’t going to be rules like at a real soccer game but we weren’t allowed to pull on clothes or punch and that had to be a rule because of me. My brother got the team together and told them to clear the way for me. No one objected since they all knew how fierce I got. My blood started to pump faster. It had been years since I played but I had a feeling it was going to be like riding a bike. Thor stood a few feet away from me and I figured they would put the biggest guy to stop me.
“This is a friendly game, no?” He asked and I shrugged.
“Depends on your version of friendly, Thor,” I watched as my brother and Melissa went to the middle of the field and my dad placed the ball in the middle. There was another coin toss that Melissa won. The ball was hers and then my mind switched. She passed it to Betty and I went after her. Thor was clearly behind me but I was too quick and maneuvered my way through everyone else it wasn’t long before I was by the goalie and it was Betty as the goalie. Her eyes widened at me, and my body moved on it’s own and I barely saw her cringe as I kicked the ball in her direction and she ducked because it was headed straight to her face. It went in and my team erupted in cheer. I waved at Betty as she glared at me. She knew that I knew that she would rather duck than let the ball hit her.
“That was amazing!” Thor beamed. “I’ve never seen you move so fast!”
I winked at him and went back to my side. Thor did his best to kick the ball but he was using too much force and it would go way over the net. My brother had to go almost across the park to get the ball back. Thor was still on my trail when I had the ball and he did try to get it from me but I tricked him and kicked the ball between his leg and twirled around him and continued to go down to their post and made another goal.
“Goooooooool!” My brother cheered and high fives me.
All my brothers team had to do was pass the ball to me and I made the goals. Before half time we had 5. Then we took our break. I went over my to mom and she handed me a Gatorade.
“Como siempre muy buen echo, mija,” she kissed my cheek. Her eyes widened behind me and then there was a shadow over me. I looked over my shoulder as I opened my Gatorade.
“Is there something you haven’t told me?” He narrowed his eyes. My mom offered him a drink and he changed his demeanor and thanked her for being concerned. My mom blushed and giggled a “You’re welcome.”
I turned around with a smirk. “Is the mighty Thor hurt he is losing to a mere midgardian?”
“I am not ashamed to admit defeat when I know it is fair but you are moving as if you are gifted. Are you like Steve?”
I chuckled and took a sip of my drink. His eyes watched me and I didn’t back down. I finished and closed my drink.
“Thor, I am not a super soldier. I’m just simply using my god given gifts. Plus you’re a sore loser. You hate playing pool with Tony because he always beats you. And don’t get me started on Monopoly.”
“That game is evil!”
“Clint is surprisingly good at that game.”
“Yes he is.”
At the end my team—I mean my brother’s team won. Meaning I won. Thor was out of breath. I did admit that he picked it up rather quickly. It was fun to play against him. He was still a sore loser because when my father called the game was over. He still asked for ten more minutes, but we all needed to get home. On the drive back Thor was sulking.
“Are you really going to be like this?” I asked with a laugh.
“You have seriously held back from us, Dulce. You moved like…whoa…I bet you would give Steve…how do you say…a run for his money?”
I laughed. “That’ll be a sight to see. But I know you were holding back.”
“Okay maybe a bit, but you truly impressed me, Dulce. But your sister did mention she was surprised you were still good even though it’s been years.”
I looked out the window and sighed. “I’m sure you’ve deducted…what has happened…with my family. Why I understood you when you lost Loki. His name is—was Ernesto. He was the youngest.” I took a long breath. “He…died…in New York. He had gone with his high school friends and my parents didn’t want him to go, but I convinced them to let him go. I had missed out on my opportunity to please them and I didn’t want that for him. So he went…and he got…trapped under a building during…you know…” I shrugged. “He had gone back to try to help a friend from under debris and the building collapsed.”
I wiped away the tears. “He…his death…broke us. Broke me. I felt…guilty. I let him go and there was no one there to protect him.”
“Dulce,” Thor reached for my hand. “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay. Look…my dad blamed SHIELD for my brother’s death. Once all the files became public, he was furious. And I had joined them and worked for them. He was even more livid that I didn’t come home straight after it was found out Hydra was behind Shield all along. But I just couldn’t go back.”
I stopped myself. I was oversharing and I felt like I was unloading on him. It wasn’t fair.
“That’s a lot for one person to keep to their-self. Have you talked to anyone else about this?”
I scoffed. “Not really. I mean I have my sisters and my brother, but I don’t think they understand what I felt when we got the news about Ernesto,” I looked down to my hands and played with the cuticles.
“We all deal with death differently. But I hope you no longer feel guilty about your brother. It had nothing to do with you letting him go. Knowing this I want to ask forgiveness from your family. After all it was my brother who brought chaos to New York.”
I blinked not realizing what he meant for a long moment and then it snapped. “Thor, I have never blamed you. I know you tried to stop him. Reason with him.”
“Thank you for your forgiveness, Dulce. And if Loki was alive, I would make him apologize to your family.”
“Just don’t bring it up, Thor. My family doesn’t like to talk about it. It starts arguments and with your presence it wouldn’t be pretty. Please let’s just enjoy the party tonight and then we can go back to the compound and put this all behind us.”
**
I shouldn’t have said anything. Once we got back home, I went straight to the shower. I was covered in sweat, mud and grass stains. It had felt so good to play again. I always thought soccer was going to be my life. I had breathed and lived for it. Then death sure makes you look at things differently.
It wasn’t like we lost someone before. I’ve had cousins and uncles pass away, but we all knew this was different. There was a reason our family didn’t stray too far from each other. If I had the time stone, I would go back and go to New York with Ernesto. I’d protect him. He had a brighter future than I did. He had the brains. He had dreams. I just wanted to play soccer. That wasn’t much compared to what he could have done.
That is what I felt guilty for. I felt like I had robbed the world of a brilliant mind. I always found showers to be the best time to have a break down, so I had one. I let out all of my frustrations. Lying to my family. Seeing Bruno so broken because of what I did. Reminding myself what my little brother could have done.
When I was done—I had changed in the restroom—I went back to my old room. I thought I would find Thor, but when I looked out the window I saw that he was helping set up. He was the tallest so they had him hold the balloons so they could tape it. I chuckled at the sight of Thor just casually holding the arch of balloons while my father was on a step ladder reaching on his tippy toes.
I watched for a while. Whatever my father and Thor were talking about was something good. My father was smiling and it had been a long time since I saw that smile.
“Mija?” I heard from my door. I turned and saw my mom with her makeup already one and the hot curls still on and in her robe.
“Hola, ma,” I went to her and hugged her tightly. Nothing like a mother’s hug to make things better.
“No te vas a poner lista?” she asked if I was going to get ready but I didn’t let go of her and she rubbed my back.
“In a bit,” I replied and placed my cheek on her shoulder and inhaled her scent.
“Estoy feliz que tienes alguien con quien eres feliz,” she said she was happy that I was with someone who made me happy.
“Ma…” I started, but then we were interrupted by Camila. I had wanted to come clean. I knew she would understand. But then I did have to get ready. This was for my brother. I knew committing was a huge thing for him.
I had to support him. I needed to put my own shit away. When I was doing my makeup Thor was back, but because he had been out in the sun he was sweaty all over again. I nearly dropped my blending brush as I watched him remove his shirt and used it to wipe away the sweat off his forehead, face and his neck.
He caught me and grinned.
“Your father was telling me you know how to play guitar. That he taught you.”
I half smiled remembering the lessons and how tough of a teach my dad was, but I truly wanted to learn because he was so good.
“Yeah, I do.”
“You should play tonight,” he smiled.
I shook my head. “No, I’m good.”
“Come on, do it for me? Your wonderful boyfriend?”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “Fake boyfriend.” I corrected.
“You owe me for this and the way to repay me is to hear you play,” he turned a little serious, so I sighed.
“Fine. You gonna shower now?”
“Unless you wish to continue googling me, woman,” he winked at me.
I rolled my eyes, but I felt the blush on my cheeks. I wish I had done my foundation so he wouldn’t have seen me. He got his stuff and a towel and left.
I released a breath. God, he made me so nervous. The butterflies in my stomach fluttered. I shook my head and got myself back to the present. But I did like that he made me smile. Made me forget my shit.
I finished my makeup and moved on to my hair. Half way through my hair Thor was back. And to think he looked sexy in sweat he looked even sexier with droplets of water going down his chest, between his abs, and pecs. Flashes of us fooling around in my bed went through my head. Passionate kissing and passionate lovemaking. Screaming his name. I wondered how big he was. Would I be able to take him? God, how long had it been since I got laid?
Years. I had toys, but I was sure whatever I had would never compare. Like he was reading my mind his eyes met mine on the mirror of my vanity. The air in the room changed. He smiled and I felt my insides melt. That smile of his was going to be the death of me. I jumped when there was a feedback sound. It brought us out of the trance, and I turned to my window.
The music was starting and I could smell the food as well.
“I’ll go get changed at the restroom,” he took his things and that might have been my chance to stop him, but I let him go. He gave me one more glance, but I kept my lips shut. I felt my heart sink. Did I just miss my chance? Probably. Maybe I just reading the signs wrong.
I finished getting ready. I got my dress and placed it on. It was heart shaped burgundy dress that reached my knees. I paired it with black heels. Since the party was right outside I didn’t take the coat I brought with me.
Tumblr media
It had been ages since I went all the way for a party. Not even for Tony’s parties. This color of the dress reminded me of a coat Thor once wore. Right when Ultron attacked. I had admired him from afar. He had made that coat look so sexy. I chuckled to myself. Here I was pretending to be his girl.
I walked out of my room and ran into my brother.
“Whoa, look who is back from the dead,” he joked. I rolled my eyes at him. “Seriously, I hardly recognized you. Thanks for coming, Dulce.”
“Of course. You’re my brother. It was time to end the streak,” I shrugged. “I know how you feel about Melissa. She’s the one.”
My brother blushed and nodded. “Yes. she is. Don’t tell ma or pa, but…she might be pregnant.”
My eyes widened. “Seriously?! Oh my God!”
“I know! But we are not sure. If she is, we might just speed up the wedding, so she can wear the dress she wants. You and Thor gonna be free in a month or two?”

Walk With Me Part 2
This is my entry for @dinnafashsoldat POC Writing Challenge.
Prompts: “You’re not taking me to bed. Ever.” “Who said it had to be the bed?” and “I wasn’t lying when I said I loved you.” Mexican!OC
A/N: I am a Mexican girl so when I saw this writing challenge I had to get on board. It is going to be about a 5-6 mini series. I love Thor. He’s my favorite! Even over Bucky and Steve because he’s just so…perfect and needs to be protected.
Tumblr media
“Since my dad is—was a musician music is a big part of our family’s party. He will most definitely sing a song to my mom it’s always Paloma Querida meaning Dear Dove. It’s their song,” I explained to Thor as we stood at the living area with the furniture pushed away to give us space. “But I wanted to teach you how to dance it since it’s tradition for all couples to dance to it. FRIDAY play Paloma Querida by Jose Alfredo Jimenez.”
“All right,” he clapped his hands and stood in front of me. He was a whole foot taller than me—maybe more, so this was going to be a bit hard. I positioned his left hand on my waist and his other hand with mine. I placed my free hand on his shoulder.
“It’s really simple. We just step side to side until we make a circle or something,” I led for the first few steps. “Okay now you have to take lead because that’s the way.” He did as I told him and he picked it up pretty quick. “You’re light on your feet.”
“Of course, I’ve danced many dances throughout the realms,” he grinned. Of course he had. “But this is nice.” He looked down to me and it was the first time I got a good look at his eyes and I knew why so many women swooned. But I couldn’t be just another one. So I turned away and pulled back.
“So that’s just a nice one, we’re gonna move on to Salsa, Cuban, Bachata and Banda,” I knew the last one was going to be a bit more challenging to explain. So I pulled up videos on my phone and showed him. Even that he got it pretty fast. I was so impressed with his willingness to learn. He paid close attention and wasn’t afraid to ask questions.
“Why did you lie to your parents about having someone? Is there someone you’re avoiding?” he asked when I needed a break and had accepted the bottle of water he handed over. I took a long sip before answering. It was best to be honest or as honest as I could without revealing too much about myself.
“My family is nosy. I know they mean the best, but they all have this notion that because I’m a woman I’m supposed to just get married and have kids. They figured this—“ I gestured around me, “would be a phase, but my mom started hinting that my ‘clock’ was ticking. I’m only twenty-seven and the youngest! So to…calm her nerves I told her I was seeing someone, but we couldn’t go public to keep me safe…so the first person I thought of was you.”
“I’m honored, Dulce, but do you plan to tell your family the truth? Unless we are planning a fake wedding as well,” he laughed.
I laughed too. “No, of course not. I figure after this I’ll just tell them we broke up and they can leave me alone for another six years.”
“I’ve known you for nearly four years and this is the most I’ve learned about you,” he placed his hands on his hips.
I shrugged. “No one bothered to ask, plus I’m easily overlooked. I just do research.”
“I believe me…I noticed,” Thor got closer until he has half a foot away from me. “You are very observant. You care deeply and you definitely keep in touch with your family because you want to not because it’s a burden.”
He was right. My family and I were really close, but it took tragedy for that to happen. I wasn’t ready to share that. I knew he was going to find out eventually, but that would be for later. It was odd to get compliments from a God. Especially one who had gone through so much.
“Well, that’s enough, I think. You know the basics. So we should have rules so we don’t end up doing something dumb.”
“Like what?”
“Um…sleep together.”
“Why not? You like me and I like you. Why can’t it happen?”
I laughed nervously. “You’re not taking me to bed. Ever,” I did my best to use a stern voice, but under his gaze it quivered. He leaned down until we were only two inches part. I took in his scent and memorized.
“Who said it had to be the bed?” And before our lips met I took a step back.
“Whoa, whoa, no need to do that, Thor. I don’t expect you to kiss me at all!” I held my hands up as protection because I didn’t trust myself not to fall for his spell.
“Your family won’t find it suspicious I’m not affectionate?”
“My family doesn’t approve of PDA—so we won’t have to worry. The most you’ll have to do is hug me or kiss me on the cheek.”
“What a shame,” he winked. “I’ll see you tomorrow at nine to go to the airport. Will they care that I don’t have a passport?”
I groaned. “I didn’t think about that. Fuck.”
“I’m sure Stark will let us borrow one of his many planes, right?”
“Uh…sure.” I didn’t even convince myself.
“Let me take care of that then. You should get your money back for those tickets.”
“Uh sure,” I wasn’t going to get a full refund, but oh well. I really should have thought about that. Thor kept his word and I got a text from Tony saying it was okay to use his plane. Also he wanted pictures of Thor dancing banda so he could use it as blackmail. I doubted Thor would find it embarrassing.
I packed at night and felt the nerves start to kick in. Not only was I bringing a ‘boy’ well God home, but he was also not Mexican, which my parents always wanted me to marry in my culture. My sister did, my brother is going to do it and all of my cousins did as well. I wasn’t sure how my dad was going to react. Thor and I had gone over our story about how we got together until it was engraved in our brains. To them they think I’m going to get back with Bruno. He had been older than me, but he had been nice when he asked me out. And I thought it had been love, but if I had loved him, it wouldn’t have been easy to end it and move across the country.
I hardly got any sleep, but I got up and did my morning routine. I got a text from Tony that the plane was ready to go in an hour. I got my suitcase and headed for my door. I opened it and Thor’s entire frame took the whole space.
“Good morning, Dulce!” he boomed. “I am ready!”
“Tony said it’ll be ready in an hour, so we have some time to lose. I’m getting coffee,” I told him. “Let’s go over my family’s names.”
“Your mother is Alejandra, your father is Alfredo, your brother is Junior, then it’s Camila and Betty. You have a nephew Charlie and a niece Elizabeth named after Jane Austen characters.”
I nodded impressed. We got to the kitchen. Steve was sitting down with a cup of coffee. I went to the cupboard and groaned when someone placed my mug too high for me. I was about to climb on the counter, but I felt Thor behind me easily reach for it. The whole front of his body covered my back and it woke me up faster than any cup of coffee ever had. He held the mug in front of me and I took it meekly.
“You’re welcome,” he whispered close to my ear.
“Th-thanks,” I mumbled back. He stepped back and I swore I heard him chuckle.
“Morning, Steve!” Thor boomed.
“Morning,” I could practically hear Steve’s smirk. I got my coffee from the pot and got my creamer from the fridge. “So you’re really going through with this?”
“It should be fun! A new culture and new faces. Plus I don’t think I’ve been to…where are you exactly from?”
I turned around to face them. “I guess I should have led with that. So, my family lives in…Watts. It’s a bit of a rough neighborhood, but they don’t want to move out of there.”
“Rough?” Thor’s body tensed.
“I mean, it’s not like it used to be, but my parents still hear a drive by every now and then. Not like when I was younger and it was every week we knew someone got shot or died,” I shrugged and sat down across from them and sipped my coffee carefully.
“I still think you should tell your parents the truth. The truth is always better,” said Steve and I knew he knew from experience.
“It’s a harmless lie, Steve, I’m not keeping deep, dark secrets from my parents,” I shot back and immediately regret it. I knew he felt bad for what happened with Tony, but he had no right to judge me when he hardly knew me.
“Things are going to be all right. It’s only a couple of days,” Thor tried to keep the mood up, but it was clearly not the same. “What can happen in just a couple of days?”
I gave Thor a blank expression and then he frowned. A lot could happen in a couple of days.
“Sorry, Steve, that was a low blow,” I sighed. “I’m just all wound up.” I rolled my shoulders.
“You’re all wound up because you feel bad for what you’re doing,” Steve pointed out and got up and walked out of the kitchen.
“It will be okay, Dulce,” Thor’s tone was softer now. I met his eyes and some how I felt that he was right.
“Again, thanks for doing this, Thor. I mean, what I’m about to put you through…” I shook my head. “Just be patient with my family.”
“They really can’t be worse than mine,” he grinned.
“No, my dad hasn’t told me of a sibling he incarcerated for thousands of years,” I joked lightly and he chuckled at that.
Soon we were on the plane. He sat across from me. I had taken the seat away from the window because if I looked outside of it, I would probably have a panic attack. Flying wasn’t my strongest suit. I didn’t really have to do it much working for the Avengers since I mostly gathered information and gave it to them in briefings. I worked on the ground and flying was one of the scariest things in the world. I literally had friends who could fly and I did not envy them.
Thor quickly picked up on it. He explained we were perfectly safe—well he said we would have been safer if he would have used the Stormbreaker. I just laughed which did help me distract me. When we hit turbulence, I closed my eyes and started humming. I felt a big presence beside me so I opened my eyes. Thor had sat next to me blocking the window so I wouldn’t be able to look out there if I was tempted.
In minutes I was more relaxed and then I must have fallen asleep because after what felt like half an hour—but it had actually been three hours—I was lightly shook. I fluttered my eyes opened and I had been leaning against Thor’s mighty bicep and there might have been drool because the corner of my mouth was a little wet.
Horrified didn’t even begin to describe what I felt. I needed to be swallowed by the Earth. Did I just drool on an actual God?
“Sorry,” I wiped my mouth.
“Don’t be. You looked so tired, plus you were adorable to watch with your little, soft snores,” he chuckled.
I held back an internal groan. “Did…I really snore?”
“Indeed you did, but it’s nothing compared to my great friend Volstagg after he ate a whole pig,” he laughed whole heartedly but then it died and he looked sad. I knew his friend had died defending Asgard from his sister. So I reached for his hand and squeezed it. He turned down to me and gave me a sad smile. “Put your seatbelt on.”
Sometimes it was easy to forget that Thor had lost a lot of people in his life. I held his hand after my seatbelt was on because it was time to land. I was able to squeeze his hand so hard that it wouldn’t even phase him, so I released a breath when we stopped. I hated that I was going to have to go through this in two days again, but if Thor was by my side again, I had a feeling it was going to be okay.

**
Tony had also provided a car for us and I was thankful it wasn’t a flashy car. It was just a Toyota Highlander. Thor was still too big for it, but he would have not fit in anything smaller. I drove since I knew my way like the back of my hand. Again I tested Thor on my family’s name and he got it down well. He said we should stop by for something to eat since I hadn’t had a bit all day. I told him that I couldn’t eat when I was nervous, plus my family was probably making food for us already.
In the middle of traffic I drummed my fingers on the steering wheel. My stomach was in knots. I was torn about what we were doing. Was Steve right? What I was doing so bad? I mean, I have lied to my parents before, but never like this. At first, it felt like it wasn’t so bad, but what if they actually really liked Thor? I mean there was no chance in the world Thor would want to be in a relationship with me. Sleep with me for a night or two? Maybe. But I don’t think he wanted a relationship.
“What’s on your mind? You’re so tense,” Thor’s voice filled the car. I couldn’t look at him so I stared at the plates of the car in front of us for several seconds. “Hey…” his voice softened.
And I felt my eyes start to sting and my view started to get blurry.
“Hey,” he pushed harder.
I wiped away the tears that fell. “I just…what Steve said…I feel bad now.”
“Well, if you wanna tell them the truth, that’s fine with me. I can still go with you as your friend.”
That didn’t sound so bad. What if I did just come out with the truth? I mean, I’d get a lot of shit from my cousins and my siblings were not going to let it go either. No, I could do this. The focus was not going to be on us. It was my brother’s time to shine. He was getting married and that was a big step for him. He always said he was going to be a bachelor. I made my bed and I had to lie in it.
“No, we can do this. We’ll just…try to be…casual, like, not bring attention to ourselves. I don’t want to upstage my brother. It’s his time and his girl’s.”
“You sure, Dulce?”
“Yes. I’m sure,” I smiled to convince him.
Soon I got off the freeway and it wouldn’t be long before we got to my old home because we were close to the freeway. On our way I did point out the park where we were going to be playing soccer. It was a family tradition to have a game when there was a family gathering.
“I’ve read up on soccer. It sounds like a good way to exercise.”
Soccer was my passion growing up. I wanted to play in the league, but after what happened in New York it gave me a new perspective. First, we weren’t alone. Second, we weren’t prepared. So I wanted to make a difference. I had to. We also passed by my elementary school and those were bittersweet memories.
I wasn’t surprised to see that when I turned on my block there were several cars taking up almost all the spaces. I heard the music halfway down. My heart started to race, but I knew we could do this. Only two days and then it’ll be over. I found a parking space not that far from my house.
“Ready?” Thor asked beside me.
I nodded my head not trusting my voice. I got out of the car and went in front of it to get to the sidewalk. He asked if we got our stuff now. I told him later because it was more important to greet the family first. I turned towards my house and Thor reached for my hand. I pulled back like I had been shocked.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Sweetie, we have to play the part from now on.
I sighed and shook my hands and bounced a little to relieve some of the stress. “Okay, okay, you’re right. We can hold hands. Sorry, I haven’t had a boyfriend in like years so…I forgot about the etiquette.”
“Dulce,” I loved the way he said my name with his deep voice. I turned my eyes up to him as he placed his hands on my shoulders. “Tell me what’s really wrong.”
“I…just…don’t think people will believe the God of Thunder would ever take a second glance at me,” it blurted out without hesitation. Somehow he compelled me to say the truth. He huffed a bit and frowned.
“Why not? You are a sweet, kind, smart, and sexy woman.”
With each of those compliments I felt my body flush. “I mean…Jane was…gorgeous and super freaking smart. I’m…me. I just…do research—“
“And that takes brains. You are always very diligent and your research has never let us down. I know you double check all your sources and you never take things lightly.”
It was odd to know Thor noticed me before now. Sure, we were friends before, but I always thought he just saw another co-worker. Now it felt like he saw more than that. But he never made a move. He was always friendly. Just friendly.
“Thanks,” I mumbled and looked down. “Okay, we should go.” I held out my hand and he placed his large one on top of mine engulfing it. We intertwined our fingers. I never thought I would be walking down this old street with Thor. I had read up on Norse Mythology—well I guess it wasn’t a myth anymore.
My home was to my left and it was the pink house with the cactus at the front. There was a rose bush by the porch of the house that I remembered getting pricked many times when cutting the flowers to use as the center piece of our kitchen table. There was a big gate that I hated because I had to use the string to pull on it so it could open. The string was still there. It was so nostalgic to be back.
It had been way too long. I always found some sort of excuse not to come back for the holidays. It was hard for me. Everyone in my family knew that, so coming home with a boyfriend—a celebrity of sorts—was a big deal. The music was playing loudly. I knew they were all in the backyard, but we had to go through the house to get to the back.
I opened the door and immediately I was welcomed by my niece Elizabeth. She was about five years old and the light of my eyes. She tackled me wrapping her little arms around my hips.
“TIA! TIA! TIA!” she chanted. I released Thor’s hand to place my arms around her. I lifted her off the floor.
“Mira que grande estas!” I spoke to her in Spanish telling her how big she got and she did. “Y tan hermosa.” She and I mostly Face Timed and I did visit her at my sister’s place, but could hardly bring myself to visit my parents at their home.
“Traiste a tu novio?” she asked if I brought my boyfriend. I turned her so she could face Thor.
“What a beautiful princess,” Thor grinned. “You must be Elizabeth.” He took her little hand and placed a peck on top of it.
“I’m no princess,” she giggled and took her hand back.
“Oh yes you are. I know many princesses, so I know when I see one,” he winked. It warmed my heart to hear her giggle. I really loved my niece and nephew. I knew what I was doing wasn’t meaningless. I wasn’t super powered, but what I did helped. It was for them. So they could have a future.
The first room of the house was the living room. We would have to go through the kitchen to get to the backyard. It was a one story home Ranch style so to our left was the hallway with the three bedrooms. One was for my parents and the other two my siblings and I shared for most of our lives.
It just hit me that Thor was going to find out something about me I had never told anyone. Tony probably knew but he never brought it up, which was good for me. But I honestly didn’t tell anyone on the team about myself a lot. I tended to keep to myself. I liked to listen to others and when it came time for me to share, I always changed the subject. It was on purpose.
I placed Elizabeth down. I told her to show me to the others. She grabbed my hand and pulled me across the living room. I had nearly forgotten about the shrine on the way there and I stopped in my tracks. I hadn’t seen his picture in so long. It was his graduation picture where he looked so happy.
My mom had the candles lit each candle had a different saint on it. His valedictorian medal was across the picture and also a rosary. My heart sank at the sight of it. It had been years. Too long and yet it still hurt. Thor placed his hand on my shoulder. Silently understanding what I still couldn’t say out loud. And of course he would understand more than anyone.
“C’mon, Tia!” Elizabeth urged.
I nodded down at her and continued on. The kitchen remained the same. It smelled so good. The sliding door was open and I already saw familiar faces. Cousins, aunts and uncles along with close family friends.
The first who noticed us was my aunt—my mother’s oldest sister Beatriz. She hugged me tightly since it had been years since I saw her. She cried and held me tightly. I hugged her back as well. I had many memories of her babysitting my siblings and I when my mom had to work two jobs. She was like my second mom and guilt washed over me knowing that calls, texts and  FaceTime wasn’t enough.
“Perdoname, Tia,” I asked for forgiveness.
“No te preocupes, mija,” she replied that I didn’t need to worry. It took all of my strength to keep it together. I pulled back and she squeezed my cheeks. Her eyes wondered behind me and they widened. Her face turned a little pink around her cheek area. “Ay, ese es el Thor?”
I looked behind me and he stood a few feet behind me with his hands behind him but with a grin on his face.
I turned back to my aunt. “Yes. Thor, this is my aunt from my mom’s side—Tia Beatriz. Yes, my sister was named after her.”
Thor walked up to my aunt, took her hand and placed a kiss on it. My aunt giggled much like Elizabeth had.
“A pleasure,” he told her.
We got everyone’s attention and suddenly Thor was swarmed by my family members. It was mostly the ladies. I stood back and watched. It was funny to see a tall, burly God get nearly trampled by short Mexican women. He stayed a gentleman and greeted everyone.
“Ya! Basta!” I told them and worked my way through the crowd and shooed them away. I got a hold of Thor’s hand and he squeezed it probably thankful I saved him. I met his eyes and his sparkled with gratefulness.
“Mija,” my mom’s voice tore my gaze away. It had been a while since I saw her, so I released Thor’s hand to hug my mom. She was my rock. My best friend. So lying to her was killing me. “Que gusto me da verte, mi nina.” She told me how glad she was to see me.
“Mami,” I nearly whimpered. She caressed my hair and told me she loved me. I saw my father walk up. He had grown more gray hairs since the last time I saw him. I pulled back from my mom’s embrace. I went to hug my dad. He was stiff at first. It wasn’t in our culture for men to show their emotions, but it had been a while since I held him so I was pleasantly surprised when he hugged me back. He rubbed my back. “Pa, I’m sorry.”
“No hay nada que perdonar,” he said there was nothing to forgive. This time I broke down and released the sob I had been holding back since my aunt. My dad held me tighter and I heard him break down too. We both missed him. Missed him terribly.
After a moment we both separated. I wiped away my tears and then I wiped his. He cupped my face with his hands.
“Ahora, quien es este Thor?”
I chuckled and looked back to see Thor with a soft expression. Clearly my crying had shown a side no one had ever seen at the compound. I introduced my dad and Thor. My dad had puffed out his chest and straightened his back. They shook hands. My dad wasn’t that tall either. Sure he was taller than me and my mom, but he was still way shorter than Thor. I suspected my dad squeezed a little harder, but I was sure it didn’t make a difference to Thor.
“Come on over so I can get to know you,” my dad told Thor. “You like beer?”
“Of course!” Thor boomed.
“Tecate? Corona?” my dad asked.
Thor turned to me unsure so I mouthed ‘Corona’.
“Corona?” Thor’s voice wasn’t convincing but my dad grinned.
“I knew you had good taste, eh? After all you are dating my daughter…right?”
“Yes! Absolutely,” Thor nodded and then followed my dad to the other side of the backyard where the men were. In the crowd I saw Bruno. He gave me a sheepish smile and waved. I waved back.
God, I was never this emotional. I needed a shot.
“Puta!” Betty hugged me from the back.
“Perra!” I said to her and laughed. Camila and Junior joined. We got into a group hug. I loved being at the compound and having my friends there, but nothing beat this. I really did love my family. I was just an emotional wreck after what happened to our little brother. The one I had raised. The one whose diapers I had changed. The one who got to go to New York only to come back in a box.

Tiffany Blue 1/1
A/N: Hi, my name is Kari and this is my first one-shot here. This is just something to get my feet wet. I have several stories planned. I know there are many blogs of fanfics, but one more can’t hurt to follow, right? Please excuse any errors. I have a full time job, so posting might not be often, but hopefully it’ll be good quality.
Tumblr media
“How about yellow?” I suggested to Caitlin on our way to work. I was giving her ideas for the color dresses for the bridesmaids. As Maid of Honor we had to come to a decision soon. Her wedding was going to be in a year and there so much to do.
“Gross, no,” she made a face because I knew she hated the color and I laughed. “Maybe blue?”
Our eyes met and we both said ‘Tiffany Blue!’ and then we laughed together. People gave us looks, but we ignored them. On our way, we passed Alexander Pierce. He was waiting for the rest of the World Council to arrive. Everyone knew they were coming since we all got an email to come to work immediately because Project Insight was going to be launched. Caitlin and I were part of the project, so we had to cut our brunch short to come to work.
“Have you thought about who you’re going to have as your plus one?” she elbowed me in the rib as we got into the elevator. Others joined in.
I shrugged. “This thing,” meaning Project Insight, “has been my life for years. I haven’t really had a chance to look.” A lie since I was looking at a certain person since he was defrosted, but that was never, ever going to happen.
“If you’d get over your silly crush on that old man, you’d see there’s some decent guys here. Like Rumlow. I’ve seen him check you out,” she giggled.
I shushed her embarrassed by the people hearing. “Ew, no, dude gives me the creeps. Don’t trust him.”
“You can’t judge a person without knowing them.”
I sighed. “True, but…I don’t want to know him.”
We got to our floor and already there was chaos. Caitlin and I turned to each other and sighed. This was our life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We met at the academy. We went through everything together. We encouraged each other. She pushed me and I pushed her. Our friendship only grew stronger with time and I trusted her with my life. We made our way to our designated area. I placed my earpiece in and cracked my fingers.
“You really shouldn’t do that,” Caitlin said in a sing-song voice, but she always warned me and I never listened.
“I like doing it. It relaxes me,” I reminded her as I logged in. She just shook her head.
We were told to get everything ready for the launch. My job was to make sure no one got through the security system. I was very, very good at my job.
“Attention all SHIELD agents,” were the words that forever changed my world. I turned to Caitlin and we both shared confused expressions. “This is Steve Rogers. You’ve heard a lot about me over the last few days,” Steve continued. Agent 13 was right behind us overlooking that everything was going smoothly. Everyone looked up from their screens and listened.
“Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it’s time you know the truth. SHIELD is not what we thought it was. It’s been taken over by HYDRA,” there were audible gasps including mine. “Alexander Pierce is their leader,” my stomach rolled. I had met Secretary Pierce and shook his hand. I had admired him. “The STRIKE and Insight crew are HYDRA as well,” I turned to my best friend again and she had her eyebrows furrowed.
Her hand was on her gun that we were taught to use. She and I had decided that after New York it was best to always be prepared, so we were trained in combat. She did better than I did, but I still passed.
“I don’t know how many more, but I know they’re in the building. They could be standing right next you,” Steve went on. Caitlin stood up and I stood up with her slowly and looked around the room. We all started to look at each other with doubt, except for Caitlin. I’ve known her for ten years and I knew she trusted me.
“They almost have what they want. Absolute control,” my mind went to Project Insight and what it could do and it didn’t take me long to connect the pieces. It made me sick to my stomach to think I helped with the project. I had designed the firewalls and I knew they were the best of the best. It was why SHIELD recruited me. “They shot Nick Fury,” the hairs of the back of my neck stood up. I had met Director Fury and worked with him because of what I was doing for Insight. I was sad when I heard the news. He was a tough man, but I knew he was a good man at heart. “And it won’t end there. If you launch those hellcarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them. I know I’m asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it’s a price I’m willing to pay. And if I’m the only one, then so be it. But I’m willing to bet I’m not.”
The tension in the room grew, but no one said anything. Until we heard footsteps and it was Agent Rumlow coming towards Ben—one of the launch technicians. His cold eyes scanned the room and they landed on me. He didn’t bother to give me a second glance, not surprising. He stopped next to Ben—towered over him.
“Preempt the launch sequence. Send those ships now,” Rumlow ordered.
Ben was clearly flustered as would any good person would be. If he had been HYDRA he would have done it.
“Is there a problem?” he asked Ben and I moved my hand to my gun holster slowly.
“Um…” Ben shook his head and all attention was on him.
“Is there a problem?” Rumlow repeated but clearly out of patience.
“I’m sorry sir,” Ben’s voice trembled. He started to breathe heavily. I knew he had anxiety problems, so I was hoping he was not going to have an attack now because I had a feeling Rumlow was not going to go away easily. He made eye contact with me and I pleaded him to be strong and do not launch anything. “I’m not gonna launch those ships. Captain’s order.” I sighed in relief.
Rumlow withdrew his gun and moved behind Ben pointing it at his head. “Move away from your station,” he told him.
Agent 13 moved and reveled her own gun and pointed it to Rumlow. “Like he said,” then everyone started to draw their weapons. I took mine out and pointed it at Rumlow. “Captain’s order.”
This was the first time I had pulled out my gun to anyone, so it was shaking a little. I knew I had guns pointed at me, but there was one that caught my eye. I turned slightly to my left and saw Caitlin pointing her gun at me. My whole world shattered at the sight of her. Her eyes were no longer friendly.
“You picked the wrong side, Agent,” Rumlow said to Agent 13.
“Cait?” I whispered to her in confusion.
“Don’t make me pull the trigger,” she whispered back.
Anger bubbled in me. My best friend worked for HYDRA. All of this time she was bad. And I shared everything with her. I let her meet my family. I met her own family. Did they know? Were they a part of it? Was our friendship a lie?
“Depends on where you’re standing,” Agent 13 said to Rumlow who had pushed the end of his gun to Ben’s head. I couldn’t look away from Caitlin though. She was a sweet person. Who held doors open for other people. Who never spoke a bad word about anyone—even when I wanted to talk shit. Ten years. Had she been HYDRA all this time?
“How long?” the question barely escaped my throat.
“Since we met,” she answered coldly. “You were my mission. Get close. Gather info.”
The more she spoke the more my heart and soul broke.
“Why?” I croaked.
“I was supposed to…recruit you without you knowing,” she shrugged. In a way she succeeded since I did the dirty deed for them. I helped built Project Insight.
I wish I could have asked more, but Rumlow had dropped his weapon and then used his knife to attack Agent 13. Then all hell broke loose. Everyone started to shoot at the STRIKE team. Caitlin shot towards me, but not at me. She hit an Agent coming to my rescue. I ducked to avoid the other shots and started to run away. But it didn’t take her long to catch up with me. She caught me by my hair. I used what I learned and got out of it and in the process landed a punch. My hand hurt like hell, but at least I got away.
The corridors were completely chaos. Agents shooting other agents. A lot of familiar faces trying to shoot me down.
I needed to help, but I didn’t know how. I wasn’t that good at hand-to-hand combat. I was good with computers. I needed to slow down the bad guys. Captain America got that message out at communications, so I knew that would be the place to go. I dodged a lot of people on my way. I decided to use the stairs to get to that level and I heard someone behind me when I was a floor away. Caitlin had caught up to me. My feet pushed me faster, but again I wasn’t fast enough. She caught up to me and just as I was about to open the door, she slammed my head against it.
Everything started to spin and it wasn’t long before the pain kicked up. I noticed my gun had fallen, but she kicked it away from me and it stopped close to the door.
“Can’t let you help them,” she spoke, but her voice sounded far away. God, pain sucked.
“How could you…be doing this?” I said through my teeth. I needed to buy time. “HYDRA is evil!” I was finally regaining some of my senses.
“HYDRA is going to bring order!” she protested back. “You’ve seen the world we live in! Aliens are real. Gods are real and we are not united. Earth should be united to keep ourselves protected. HYDRA will bring us together. You could do some good with us. You are really, really good.”
“You know why I joined,” I glared at her. “You know how I feel about HYDRA. They only wish to have all the power. Power can’t belong to just one group.”
“Don’t dwell on thoughts like that. If I can’t recruit you, then you are the enemy and I will stop you,” she raised her gun to me again.
“Cait, we’ve known each other for years. You’ve met my family,” I only felt the tears after they fell. But I couldn’t wipe them. I needed to talk to her. “Please, you can’t do this.”
Her hand tightened around the gun. Her finger on the trigger. Her eyes held so much warmth once. I had considered her the sister I never had. A part of me knew she was too far gone. But a bigger part of me hoped I could change her mind.
“Your family went through the holocaust, Caitlin, and they only survived because of Captain America. You’re standing here…pointing a gun at me because he sacrificed himself to give us a world without HYDRA.”
“Cut the head and two more will take its place,” she said and it brought chills down my spine. “If you won’t come willingly, I’ll make you.” She tried to punch me, but I was able to dodge it. It seemed the training stuck to me more than I thought. Or maybe it was the adrenaline helping me fight back. I dodged and dodged and blocked. She was a natural whilst I struggled with every move.
Caitlin moved swiftly, but I could tell she was holding back. Maybe a part of her cared for me. I needed to reach that part. She could have killed me already, yet, here we were fighting. I definitely wasn’t a fighter, but I was so happy we had taken those lessons or else I wouldn’t have been able to keep up.
At one point, I was able to kick her gun away and it fell down the stairs. My own gun that was on the ground was the only one left. It was close to the door and between us. We both jumped for it. I held it in my hands as she tried to pull it away. I felt my finger on the trigger and then I squeezed it accidently.
The shot echoed in the stairwell. Caitlin stopped struggling. Her eyes widened a bit and so did mine.
“No, no, no,” I started as she fell to the floor with a gunshot to her stomach. Blood started to come out quickly. I didn’t want to pull it, but during the struggle it happened. Blood started coming out of her mouth. “Cait! Cait!” I screamed and threw the gun to the side and used my hands to cover her wound. I wasn’t sure why I did it. I knew she was going to die. “I’m so sorry,” I sobbed. My hands began to get covered in her blood.
She was struggling to breathe and it was because of me.
The door opened and I looked up to Maria Hill. Her eyes quickly assessed the situation.
Caitlin coughed so I looked down to her again. “Hail…HYDRA,” were Caitlin’s last words as I saw the life leave her eyes.
“Oh God,” I sobbed.
Maria took out her gun and pointed at me.
“Hands above your head. You one of them?” she pointed to Caitlin.
I shook my head as I looked down at my dead best friend. Just less than an hour ago we were planning her wedding. Two hours ago, we were having brunch. We had finally decided on the color to the bridesmaids dress: Tiffany Blue.
“You’re the agent who helped create Insight’s security system,” Agent Hill remembered me.
“On Nick Fury’s order,” I croaked. “I didn’t know I was doing it for HYDRA.”
“None of us knew,” she sighed. “You knew her?”
“She…I…” I thought about her question. Did I know Caitlin? I thought I did. Clearly that wasn’t the case. “I thought I did.” I hoped she knew what I meant.
“Come…we could use your help.”
I looked up to Maria Hill and stood up. My hands still covered in Caitlin’s blood. I wiped it off on my pants and followed her. Not sure what I could do, but I knew that I needed to help stop this. This was the price Steve Rogers was talking about. Freedom didn’t come without consequence. I had made my decision and so had Caitlin. Somehow I had to live with the fact that I didn’t know her, not even a little bit and that I was the reason she was gone. But somehow I was going to go on.

Nothing Left for You Ch. 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: The Avengers have met their match. A powerful psychic that destroyed an entire town. Now they have to seek the help of two psychic sisters to bring the enemy down.
Word count: 2197
Author’s Note: This is basically a crossover of the anime Mob Psycho 100 and the Avengers. The protaganist is a gender bend here and older, but basically what Mob can do is what the protagonist here can do as well. I had posted this before but didn’t like where I took it to, so this is a new version.
Tumblr media
Lucy wondered what the Avengers could want with a psychic. She sat in the chair that was across the conference room she was told to wait at. She checked her watch and wondered if her older sister was working at the moment. Lucy was picked up early in the morning after her morning jog, so she was still dressed in her running clothes. Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton were the ones to pick her up and they said nothing other than they wanted her help for something. With the Scarlet Witch at their disposal, she wanted to know what they could possibly need her for.
It had been forty-five minutes since she arrived. She thought about asking her older sister since she worked in this building but figured since her sister only worked in the record department, she probably didn’t know. Lucy took several deep breaths. This had to be something with spirits, right? Lucy ran a business many people didn’t believe was real, but she got rid of bad spirits. She would either help them move on or banish them. Her most recent job was getting rid of a curse someone put on an older man from a vengeful ex-girlfriend. Lucy hardly had to use her powers for that.
The conference door opened, and Natasha walked up to her with a soft smile. “We are ready for you,” she spoke. Lucy stood up and followed Natasha into the conference room. The first thing she noticed was that some of the Avengers were missing. Lucy didn’t see the Scarlet Witch or Thor. The next thing was that everyone besides Natasha and Barton looked like they got beat up pretty well.
There was a long table in the middle of the room with several chairs. Steve Rogers, Captain America, stood up when she had walked in, but he had been sitting in the middle. To the far right was Bruce Banner with an ice pack on his head. Tony Stark, Iron Man, was facing away from them and stared out the window that showed the compound. Even though that whole wall was made of glass, the room was still dark. Iron Man was still in his suit that looked scratched and had some parts missing.
Lucy turned back to Steve Rogers, and his eyebrow and lip were bleeding. His face was covered in a light layer of dirt.
“Ms. Herrera,” Steve half smiled, “thank you for coming. We are in need of your help.” In front of Steve there were some files.
Lucy got a bad feeling about this. “No offense, but what could you possibly want with a psychic?”
The Avengers gave each other knowing looks with the exception of Tony, who continued to stare out the window now with his arms crossed. Lucy returned her eyes to Steve.
“We went to Montana today after Mr. Banner got some strange readings off our satellites. Energy was off the charts,” Steve started. “Ms. Herrera, please take a seat,” he gestured to the chair across from him. She took it and crossed her fingers and set her hands on the table. Her eyes went to the files and she hoped it wasn’t what she thought it was. Suddenly there were pictures projected between her and Steve.
Pictures of a destroyed city. Shambles. Her heart dropped to the deepest hole. Her whole body felt like ice as the pictures moved slowly as a slideshow.
“We walked into this and found out the enemy was a single man. Inhuman? Mutant? We were not sure, but definitely powerful,” Steve continued. “As you can see, we barely made it out with our lives. We—uh—have injured friends. Friends who have faced God-like beings and were swatted as if they were merely flies.”
“Clint and I weren’t present since we were coming back from another mission,” Natasha could very well be a mind reader since it was something Lucy was wondering.
“Ms. Herrera, we were directed to you by none other than Director Fury. He said you would hold the answers we need,” Steve pressed a button on a tablet next to him and the pictures change to something very familiar.
The images that haunted her dreams for a long time. In front of her were reminders from ten years ago. Years of therapy is what it took to recover. The night terrors were rare now, but always constant on the back of her mind. Lucy forced back the tears as she saw the images of her hometown. Destroyed. Forgotten. No one ever knew about it. The government buried it. Well SHIELD did.
“These files were given to us by Fury and we’d like to know why he flinched when we mentioned what happened,” Stark finally turned around to face them and his eyes were filled with rage. “I’d imagine it would take a lot for a man such as Fury to flinch, so tell us, Ms. Herrera, how an hourly Oda Mae Brown is going to help us defeat what nearly killed the most powerful Avengers?”
“Tony,” Steve’s tone was soft. “We need her help.”
Lucy listened to Tony, but her eyes had moved on to the pictures of her town. Memories flowed. Her and her older sister would go get ice cream on Saturdays by themselves. Her sister would get strawberry and Lucy would get vanilla. Then something clicked.
“Wait, Montana?” Lucy straightened her back and her heart began to race again. Why didn’t it click? “Did…the casualties…was there someone named Regan?”
Natasha used her tablet to search something and then frowned. “Yes. The destruction started in the home of a Regan Smith. It’s where everything started from.”
Lucy covered her mouth to cover her whimper. Tears formed behind her eyes and fell down her face. Tissues were put in front of her by Steve.
“Was he the target?” Steve asked. “Nothing really stood out. Clean record. Not a blip.” His eyes searched Lucy’s face for an answer. He could tell the death of this person hurt her.
“Oh God, Mabel is not going to take this well,” Lucy stood up and took some tissues and wiped her face. She knew her sister could handle the news, but it was going to wound her.
“Mabel?” Natasha furrowed her eyebrows. “No offense, but we looked at the file and only your name is mentioned. The lone survivor.”
Lucy shook her head. “No, there…there was a small group of us. I’m assuming the enemy was man. Probably didn’t look like a powerful being. Redhead. Medium build. Brown eyes and…named Eric Wallt.” Their shocked eyes told her her worst fear. “He finally reared his ugly head again. Ten years and now is the time?”
“He spoke of being the superior being. That he planned to take over the world,” Bruce finally spoke from the end of the table. “The Hulk…could barely get close. He also…changed me back.”
Lucy wasn’t surprised. “Makes sense.”
“Wait, so how was he defeated ten years ago?” Clint asked the million-dollar question. All eyes turned to Lucy.
She weighed her options. Eric was back and there was only one person who could stop him. She did it once and she could do it again, but last time it nearly cost her life. Lucy clenched her hands, but what choice did they have? She wasn’t strong enough. She had powers, but nothing close to her sister Mabel. Memories came back of young Mabel floating a kite with her powers because Lucy had been sad there was no wind to make it fly.
“Look, ten years ago my hometown was destroyed. No one ever knew about it. The government buried it. The survivors were given new identities and scattered across the country. Eric Walt wants only one thing and that is to rule the world. The person who stopped him before…nearly died as well.”
“Mabel…your sister,” Natasha would be the one to connect the dots. She stood up and crossed her arms across her chest.
“I understand your need to protect your family, Ms. Herrera,” Steve’s voice was soft and understanding. “But I’m sure she will understand this is an emergency.”
“I’m assuming your sister was put into the witness protection program,” Tony spoke. “Where was she relocated to?”
Lucy took a deep breath. “If I say so, if I tell you, will you promise to protect her with your life? I would take her place in a heartbeat, but I know I am nothing against Eric.”
“I promise,” Steve nodded his head.
“Mabel,” she said her sister’s name, “works here.”
**
Mabel blew on the hot noodles. Lunch time had come sooner than she expected. She had spent most of her morning filing the reports from the last six months. The Avengers were sure a busy bunch. She also had inputted the information of the new employees that were hired. But now lunch came around and she sat alone on the round table of the cafeteria.
Always alone now. But this was how it had to be. Attachments would mean getting to know them getting to know her. She wasn’t anything special. Dull brown hair and eyes. Her style was once described as a nun as she had overheard a co-worker a few weeks ago.
But Mabel had the one thing she could count on…music. Her headphones played 80’s rock. There was a mix of everything, but the 80’s rock had a special place in her heart. She ate her ramen noodles with her music. A can of coke-a-cola as well, a habit she couldn’t quit.
Her mother would not approve. Her father would just laugh and say it was hereditary. Her parents…she should make sure to call them. Her monthly check in was coming up and it was something she was looking forward to. And Lucy’s too. Maybe they could meet halfway again at a café. She missed her family dearly, but this was for the best.
Mabel didn’t try to make it a habit of remembering. No use in thinking of the past, her teacher would say. He’d gave that goofy smile.
She honestly did have something to look forward to now. She was allowed to have a cat. She got one from the shelter and she had someone who looked forward to seeing her. Apparently, her therapist had allowed it because her depression seemed to have worsen. The medication wasn’t as strong as before back then she sometimes barely remembered what day she lived, now she had a clearer head.
No incidents. Not one in five years. She got a stable job. She helped superheroes. Well, she filed their reports and made sure they got paid, but she felt like she was a part of something. Her lunch was over, and it was time to return to her cubicle. She put her headphones away and made her way back. She was putting her lunch bag away when her computer dinged.
An email…from Tony Stark. Mabel’s heart started to race. She never got an email from him. Hell, she had never met him even though she worked for him for the past two years. She even attended his holiday parties for employees, but she only stayed for an hour each time since she had no one to talk to, but at least she could say she went.
The email told her to meet at the conference room B. That was across the building. It said ASAP and nothing else. Mabel used her breathing techniques to keep her cool. She counted back from twenty. She started to make her way. She fixed her clothes as she walked.
Her blouse buttons, the end of her cardigan and made sure her black pants were smooth. She touched her face and wished she had put on a little bit of makeup. In a few minutes, the elevator doors opened to the hallway where the conference room was located. She knew it was debriefing happened to the Avengers. Mabel froze for a moment when she recognized the power coming from the room at the end of the hallway on the left side.
Only one person had that energy. Her younger sister. Mabel had to move because the elevator doors were going to close, so she exited the elevator. Had something happened? Why was Lucy breaking protocol? Why was she here? Their parents?
Fearing something happened to their parents, she hurried down the hallway. She didn’t bother knocking on the door and she merely opened it. Mabel already knew where her sister was. She was on the left side with tissues in her hands. Mixed feelings went through Mabel. She was happy to see her sister, but the look on Lucy’s face spoke volumes.
“I’m so happy to see you, Lucy,” Mabel used her powers to speak to her sister telepathically.
Lucy smiled. “Me too, Mabel. Our parents are fine. Safe.”
Mabel sighed in relief, shuddered and embraced her sister. “That’s good to hear,” she said out loud. Lucy chuckled and returned the embrace. It had been a month since they last saw each other. Then Mabel felt the eyes behind her. The eyes of very curious, confused and impatient eyes of the Avengers.

AN: so basically this scene has played in my head for several months now. It was kinda tied to something I was working on, but I’m not sure if I’ll post it cause it still has no plot. So I decided to just post this scene. Also yay I survived the purge, but not my main blog. Waiting on the staff to remove the ‘explicit’ shit. Also this is not perfect and not edited, so there will be mistakes.
**
My whole body trembled as I faced the Titan. I pulled my swords and assumed my position. I didn’t believe I had any chance, but I was able to put on a brave face. Even if it was a pathetic one. I just had watched as he turned back time to bring back Vision only to remove the stone forcefully. Yet Thanos seemed taken back by me. His eyes narrowed and softened—yes softened. He kept moving towards me, but I couldn’t move. I didn’t know why, but he wasn’t coming towards me like he was going to attack me. No, he seemed curious.
His head tilted slightly. “You remind me of someone, child,” he grunted. His eyes filled with sadness. “You resemble her so much. I do hope you are spared.”
Just as he took another step towards me Stormbreaker came between us and hit Thanos straight in the chest. Moments later Thor came down next to me. He held out his hand and I took it and he gave it a small squeeze—his way of checking I was okay. I squeezed back—our old way of checking in. He released it as he approached Thanos. I followed behind him. Wanting to see the life leave Thanos’ eyes after what he did to Vision.
Thor got close and drove Stormbreaker deeper. Thanos groaned and small relief washed over me. Thor said something to Thanos.
Thanos looked at me as I stood to his right just three feet from Thor. Then he looked back at Thor.
“You should have gone…for the head,” Thanos lifted the gauntlet and in a second, he snapped his fingers. I felt it. The wave as it spread throughout. Everything froze for a bit for me. I felt cold from head to toe as if I was in the middle of Antarctica and not Wakanda.
“What did you do?!” Thor bellowed.
Thanos only grinned as he opened a portal. I was so distracted with the sensation going through me that I didn’t feel as Thanos’ hand gripped my wrist. Then things moved in slow motion.
“Nooo!” I screamed as I was dragged towards Thanos. I turned the rest of my body towards Thor as I reached out with my hand to him for help. It took Thor a moment to figure out what was going on. A moment too long. The tip of his fingers grazed mine. I looked into his blue eyes as desperation filled it.
Seconds later, I was sucked into the portal and I felt being propelled through space. It only lasted half a second. Then I was somewhere else. I gasped as I was released, and I dropped to my knees. Soft ground met my knees and hands. My head felt dizzy and shock was still going through my body. I threw up whatever I had in my stomach.
Was I just kidnapped? Did we just lose? I twirled around to see that Thanos’ wound was healed.
“It is done,” he closed his eyes and inhaled. He opened them and looked to me. “It seems you have survived.”
“Is half the universe gone?” I croaked hoping Thor and my friends were fine.
“Yes.”
“Why did you take me? Please…take me back. Let me be with my friends.”
“You will remain here. With me,” he walked forward. Apparently, we were at a cliff that overlooked a city.
I looked out and saw the ruins of a city.
“This is where I found her. My daughter. This is where I will spend the rest of my days.”
“Why take me?!” I stood up on shaky legs. “I do not know you.”
Thanos turned around and pointed the gauntlet at me. “And you will no longer know yourself.”
Before I took my next breath, I felt my body stiffen. I was frozen. I couldn’t move my body. Thanos approached me and took a piece of my hair and felt it through his fingers.
“Gamora,” he called me.
“Father,” the voice was mine, but not mine. He smiled sadly.
“Let’s go home,” he held out his hand and I watched as my hand moved and placed it in his.
No, stop it! What are you doing?! I screamed to myself. Run! Get away! Nooooo!

Little One ft. Thor
An: Hi guys, this is my entry for @ruckystarnes contest Summer of Satire Challenge 2018. Oddly I had trouble writing this at first mostly because I didn’t know when to introduce my prompt and I decided to let it be the first thing and the rest was easy to write.
“What is that THING your backpack?”I breathed heavily as he and I finally got a chance to catch our breath after running from the bad guys.
Thor grinned and half turned so I could see the thing. “It’s my new pet dragon.”
My eyes widened. “Dragons aren’t real!”
“Then why is there one in my backpack?”
I know what could be funnier? Thor with a backpack or not being surprised dragons were real? I mean they didn’t look like the ones from Game of Thrones, but you know a dragon when you see one. Also, Thor lost at rock, paper, scissors like he always does so he had to carry the backpack. He loses because he always picks paper. It’s been almost two years since we’ve gone on this mission to find the infinity stones.
“What’s the next move, then?” I had moved on from the dragon rather quickly. Quick adaption was very important when traveling to other worlds. At first, I was like a tourist and stopping to look at everything. Now I knew to just blend it as much as I could. Sometimes I couldn’t exactly blend in because of skin color or lack of extra limbs or lack of limbs, but I was getting better at it.
“So, the seer I sought out told me where to find the answer to my dreams.”
“The one where your home explodes, right?” I recalled. Thor and I had gotten closer over time. Two years of basically being together all the time would do that to you. Currently we were in an alley trying to hide. We probably didn’t have time to talk, but I just couldn’t ignore that dragon before.
“Right,” he replied. “She says I should go seek the answers from Surtur.”
“And he’s…?” I asked.
“They went this way!” a voice said.
“Let’s go,” he wrapped his arm around my waist and flushed me up against him. He lifted his hammer and it started to spin until it took us off the ground. I wrapped my arms around his torso and shielded my face with his chest.
“Is the dragon going to be okay?” I yelled so he could hear me. I was used to flying, but I was worried about the little creature. He smiled down at me and winked. I smiled knowing to trust him, so I did. At first it was a bit hard, but that came with being a former SHIELD agent. Trust was hard to come by when the organization you had lied down your life for was actually Hydra. Hard to get past that.
Soon we found ourselves at our safe location for the moment. It was a little hut outside of the city where we had been at. I still got left with butterflies after every flight. I took a step back and steadied myself. Thor carefully removed his backpack and the creature crawled out of the backpack scared. Its scales were reddish and I didn’t know if it was a boy or girl. Did it matter? It was scared because one look at me and it tried to crawl back.
“Hey, hey,” Thor picked it up. “We are getting you home, no worries.”
“It’s not from here?” I asked and approached Thor. I flicked my eyes up and asked if it was okay to pet. He nodded and I steadily reached my hand out. The dragon was too busy cuddling up to Thor to notice me pet it. I loved this life. I was actually petting a dragon. An actual live dragon. Being with Thor had finally given me a purpose. I felt useful.
“Its original home is Muspelheim. It’s where Surtur was banished after my father took his greatest weapon.”
“Surtur is a bad guy then?”
“Bad demon. The worst. He is to bring Ragnorok to Asgard,” he frowned.
“When do we leave then?” the dragon noticed I was petting it so I stopped scared it would turn me to ash or something, but it cried it out like a dog would when you stop petting it so I went back to petting it. Thor handed me the dragon.
“You have been extremely brave, little one,” he sighed and placed his hands on his hips. “But I plan to face Surtur alone. I’ll have Heimdall send you—“
“What? Are you serious?” I growled. “Why?”
“This is too dangerous. I need to do this alone.”
The past two years he never gave me that excuse. He knew damn well that I could protect myself. After all I could create a shield around myself—yes, ironic considering I used to work for SHIELD. My shield was impenetrable. Not even MewMew could get through.
“Thor, we’ve been through worse before. I’m sticking by your side. Plus, once we get to Muspelheim, you can do what you have to do and I’ll find a home for this little…guy…girl?”
“We will be surrounded by enemies, little one, nowhere to hide.”
“And you know very well that I can kick ass,” I winked at him. He chuckled and shook his head.
“You’re very stupidly brave.”
“Wonder who I learned it from?” I laughed and shared it with him. Yes, he and I have gotten closer. I was there for him when Jane broke it off with him. I wasn’t there when they talked, but I was there after he had talked to her. I knew it wasn’t easy for Jane and I understood why she did it. She didn’t want him to have any ties that was going to stop him from doing what he needed to do.
Thor said he was fine now, but he had loved her. It was fair to say now Thor was my best friend. I couldn’t stay at Midgard after what happened with Ultron. I needed a change and I had begged Thor to let me tag along. I promised not to be in the way and to help out any way I could. He didn’t hesitate to say yes. I always wondered why he agreed. Was it because of my powers? It couldn’t be my knowledge since I had only lived in one planet my whole life. But for once I had felt important. The God of Thunder trusted me enough to help him in his quest.
But was it because he knew that I also didn’t have ties to Earth anymore? Parents died before I could remember. Lived with my grandmother who passed away when I was twenty. Now eight years later I had no blood-related family. I had thrown myself into SHIELD only to have it tainted. Then I worked for Stark and that well…is ancient history.
“Since we don’t know how long we will be gone. Let’s do a quick stop at Earth to get you fresh clothes,” Thor offered and picked up my bag with my dirty clothes.
“We bringing Lucy?” I gestured to the dragon.
“It’s female?” he raised an eyebrow as he brought me close to him again, but was careful not to squish Lucy between us.
“I think she is,” I smiled. Thor raised his hammer and soon we were on our way through the Bifrost. This was always my favorite way to travel. I loved the colors and I loved the feeling. We would make stops on Earth when I needed new clothes or traveling essentials.
In moments, we were back at the Avengers Headquarters. It had been about six months since our last stop. I had gotten plenty of toothpaste and toilet paper on our last round, but he was right. I did mention I needed to get some change of clothes. Tony knew the routine because I always found my clothes cleaned. The sun was bright and Lucy loved it.
Thor and I traded. He got Lucy and I got my bag of clothes. The ones I had left last time were probably already cleaned.
“Okay, won’t be long. Just gonna drop this off and we can be on our way,” I turned to go into the entrance, but Thor grabbed my arm. I turned to face him and craned my neck up to meet his eyes. He looked like he wanted to say something.
“Little one…” he licked his lips and met my eyes. I always found his eyes fascinating. “Don’t forget the poptarts.”
I grinned at him. “Never.” I went inside and headed straight to my old room. I should stop by and say to Steve or Tony, but we were in a rush. But I haven’t had single contact with anyone in two years. I’ve left notes several times, but have never stayed long enough to see if anyone replied.
Maybe Steve was around…then I heard all too familiar sound of the Bifrost. I dropped my things and ran back towards the exit. No, no, he wasn’t about to do this. No, he was being ridiculous. How could going to Muspelheim be more dangerous? I’ve faced all kinds of creatures. My heart was at my throat. He couldn’t leave me here. Not after everything. I thought he saw me as an equal. Not as some burden. Leaving me behind meant he saw me as a burden. Not as someone he could count on.
Tears burned behind my eyes once I got outside and saw nothing. He was gone. I saw the burned grass and clenched my fists.
“Noooo!” I growled and felt the tears fall. I thought Thor was the one person who didn’t treat me with kiddie gloves. I had thought the God of Thunder knew what I was capable of and thought I was worthy to be by his side. It hurt to think that he didn’t see me like that. That I wasn’t worthy to fight by his side. “Goddamn it, Thor!”
“Kiddo?” I turned around and saw Tony. “Kiddo, you live!” He dropped his shocked face when he saw me. Probably a mess since it had been fighting some bad guys earlier in another planet. Just not that long ago and now I was back. Feeling unworthy. Feeling broken hearted.  I rushed to Tony and hugged him. “Hey, hey,” he stroked my hair gently. “It’s all right, kiddo. I’ve missed ya, surprisingly.”
“Where’s Steve?” I needed to talk to him. Maybe there was a mission I could be used at. I needed to do something. I needed a distraction, but when I met Tony’s eyes I frowned. “What is it?”
“So much to catch up on, kiddo, let’s go inside.”
