Back on my bs about things that happens in my v10 dreams but probably won’t… Raven and Qrow having another conversation in an inn/tavern mirroring the one they had in v4 and Yang inevitably is brought up as a topic bc Raven portals to Yang as soon as she figures out she’s able to again and Yang isn’t actually dead except now she’s kinda stuck there bc everyone she can portal to is in Vacuo… Blake and Yang walk into the same inn along with Kali none of them noticing Raven or Qrow. Raven sees Kali being well… motherly towards Yang bc of course she would and Raven handles it Bad. Like emotionally bad not confrontationally bad. Bonus points if Yang and Ruby already went off on her about the Summer thing
Your volume 10 dreams are my volume 10 dreams... I'm so excited for Raven to come back because the family drama she's going to bring is my favourite.
In my heart, Raven is the first one to know they're back in Remnant because her portal to Yang is gone, but not dead-gone while they're in the Ever After so she can just feel it when they're back.
I'm obsessed with the thought of Kali and Raven in the same room though. I don't know if CRWBY's going to give it to me, but god I love the contrast of Blake's sweet, kind mother who Blake adores and hugs at every given opportunity and Raven and her emotional constipation and the way she cares, she really does care, but she's incapable of expressing it in a way that has anyone believing she cares about them, if she even wants them to believe that.
Also, after all the Summer shit comes out, kind of want someone to tell Raven "You could have come back. You could have just talked to us instead of dealing with it by yourself." Like, I think the most tragic thing about Raven is how there are people who are/were so ready to love her, and it seems like she was never able to accept that love for some reason. I don't really think the RWBY/STRQ parallels are completely one to one, but this specific part of Raven has already reminded me so much of volume 4 Blake. So like. My kingdom for my longstanding dream of Blake talking to Raven to come true.

Miles fucking Luna just admitted on Cameo bumbleby was made canon soley because of its popularity with shippers and "would have toned down the Black Sun moments" had they known beforehand! Ais, please bully this beta looking crackhead on Twitter for me because I don't have an account and I refuse to get one
i watched the video & 1. why does he look like that & 2. why is he so goddamn close to the camera. back tf up on this cameo you've owed someone for ages, maybe try & be a little professional & not look like you're recording this on your smoke break.
it's also interesting he doesn't mention why he had to turn cameo off for a bit when some of the last cameos he had included misusing the word genocide over a fictional character & then pimping out his own self insert as "bisexual" & having to walk it back when people, desperate for queer mlm representation in this homophobic ass show, were wondering if it was actually going to be canon when. nah. he just said it for money :))
"you asked if there was any behind the scenes info for bumblby, which is hard cause i don't think there's much to talk about" for a ship you've apparently had in the works for 10 years? since the beginning? kept so under wraps? whatever, miles.
ohhh my god miles bringing up that blake is the bisexual queen & "everyone wants to date her" as if he wasn't disgustingly biphobic & joked about getting off to women kissing in front of him as well as asking if bisexual women were "truly bisexual" or just "sipped from the fur cup" with his best friend who sexually harasses women.
it's also weird that this essentially confirms the reason she has the "blake harem" is because she's bisexual, as well as being "cute & pretty." which. fall into a hole, luna, you ugly fuck.
also positing sun & blake on their faunus relationship as the much smaller one while being deluded there was anything to yang & blake over the "much longer relationship" besides a shit ton of shared trauma & no in depth discussions, no romantic connection, nothing until the last two volumes where they were like "welp, better get this yuri train on the road" & invented moments for them out of nowhere that were out of character & did a disservice to their actual characters.
"they're finally in a place where they can admit their feelings to one another" but why? nothing has changed between them, they've actively ignored or pushed aside the so called "baggage & drama" that miles described them going through & in this volume they were essentially made by the environment to confess their feelings, not through any genuine connection. there was no reason that this confession couldn't have happened in all the life threatening situations last volume & i would've been spared yang fetishizing blake's racial features.
overall: this cameo just confirms the worst of what we knew about crwby in regards to sun / blake / yang. whatever was popular was going to be canon, they didn't care or understand their characters motivations & there is so much biphobia in their treatment of their main bisexual character in regards to both her love life & the confirmation of it only coming in a wlw relationship, downplaying all sides of her attraction.
they could've had blake be confirmed bisexual from day one. they could've done more with blake & yang in the early volumes instead of borderline pimping her out to the cast to have a harem because of said bisexuality & her "cuteness" when in what way does that fit the reserved & cautious blake we know?
this is five minutes of my time i'll never get back & i wish miles a very happy get [redacted] because your shitty voice sounds like razor blades in my ear, you unwashed biphobic fuck.

Hi! I absolutely love your emercury analysis’s (is that a word?) and was wondering if you could tell me your thoughts on how they both see eachother? Or more specifically, how crwby has presented what they are to one another? It’s interesting that we haven’t seen as much of then as we have say, Nora and Ren, and yet it’s pretty much established that they trust and care for eachother to a serious extent.
Hi you by no means have to answer this and I’m sorry for sending one ask followed by another (feels like bad etiquette) but I had another thought and didn’t want to fogeys it! I was wondering how you see the emercury reunion happening? Will Mercury be angry? Will emerald immediately try to convince him to go with her? I’ve been thinking about this since volume 9 was announced tbh
Hi!
Yay! I am happy you enjoy Emercury too and like my metas on them :D They are 2 of my faves, after all!
So, when it comes to your second question, I don't really have an answer, as for now! It depends on the plot-threads, which will involve Mercury and Emerald when they meet, after all.
Personally, I think they may repress the feelings toward each other for a while. Especially Mercury.
In general, Mercury clearly represses his own feelings with the excuse of utilitarianism. We have seen it with Cinder in volume 6.
Salem: I want you to understand why Cinder must be left to toil in her isolation until she redeems herself. Salem walks away from Emerald. Both her and Mercury look up in surprise. Mercury: You mean-- Emerald: She's alive?
Mercury: Yeah, Cinder was a pain, but at least she kept us filled in.
He is just as shocked as Emerald is by discovering Cinder is alive, but after Salem's violent ourburst he immediately convinces himself he doesn't care. Not only that, but he also convinces himself Cinder doesn't care either:
Mercury: Cinder doesn't care about you! She doesn't care about either of us!
Here, Mercury is right, but he is also projecting his own feelings and convincing himself as much as he is trying to get through Emerald.
So, I think Mercury will try to downplay how he feels about Emerald, only to be challenged until he will have to choose between his utilitaristic mindset and his emotions. His mindset is what keeps him caged in fear, while his feelings will set him free.
Other than this, Mercury is clearly meant to spiral a little while under Tyrian. Imo, the foiling and symbolism between Mercury and Tyrian is really one of the most sinister in the series and also one of the most interesting.
Like, Tyrian is who Mercury might become if he doesn't grow up. He is a man-child, who has no objective or wish of his own if not to destroy and to be of use for Salem. Mercury too risks to turn out like this. He is actually already imitating Tyrian:
Tyrian: Oh, don't misunderstand, I am in mourning just as you. Because it appears you've failed our Queen, and that is a tragedy.
Mercury: Besides, she went against our queen. I’d be careful who you back.
Not to count this line from volume 6 opening:
The rain will help the flowers be
Tumblr media
It means Hazel and Tyrian are gonna play the role of mentors in Emerald and Mercury's arcs. We have already seen Hazel's foreshadowing play out, but we still miss Tyrian's.
Moreover, Tyrian's whole allusion may very well play into Mercury's arc tbh. Tyrian is the Scorpion from the Scorpion and the Frog:
A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't resist the urge. It's in my nature.
The Scorpion promises the Frog not to sting and offers a practical reason. However, in the end they still do, even if it means they are dying, as well. This has the potential to fit Tyrian and Mercury's abusive dynamic on 2 levels:
Mercury is the frog, who stays in abusive dynamics because his abusers make fake promises. Like Marcus telling him he would get his semblance back once strong enough.
Mercury is the frog because he adopts an utilitarian mentality, which is born from fear, but that he sees as logical. As long as he obeys he won't get hurt. However, he is wrong because abuse is not logical. Marcus abused him with no reason and now Tyrian is probably going to do the same, as well.
Tumblr media
In short, Tyrian is clearly meant to be the biggest obstacle in Mercury's personal arc, while Emerald is the most important character for him. This is why they are always both present when Mercury is challenged. Both in Lost and in War, Emerald and Tyrian manage to impact Mercury in almost opposite ways. I think this tendency is going to continue.
Emerald is instead probably going to go through opposite development, which means she is going to grow. She is going to be influenced by the others, Oscar especially:
Tumblr media
However, she is currently repressing Cinder, which means she has a lot to unpack. I think her development lies in her timidly becoming more self-assured until she grows strong enough to stand on her own feet, face Cinder and save Mercury. I also think she will slowly realize she misses Mercury and will ultimately be determined to save him. That may take a while, though.
Emerald's coping mechanism is after all to come up with illusions that blind her. She has just broken out from the idealized image of Cinder she had built in her head. However, it seems she has now made Cinder disappear, so she has still to grow. Moreover, she has to fully process Hazel's sacrifice, which is bound to have an impact on her arc. It is probable she may have to rethink all her relationships to discover who her family is (Mercury).
When it comes to this, I quite like how Emerald is shown to imitate Mercury on some level. To frame herself as thougher than she is, for example, she calls Yang blondie, which is what Mercury does. Not to count this:
Tumblr media
These details are all the answer to your first question. Emerald and Mercury are in general 2 characters who are shown rather than told, so their writing has very strong subtext.
By this I mean that every scene they are in their body language, interactions and symbolism always pack a punch in terms of meaning. Most of their scenes together are important and add to their character arcs, so despite the little screentime a lot can be said about them.
In general, I would say they are framed as 2 kids that were let down by society (Emerald) and loved ones (Mercury) and were promised a home by Cinder. Emerald is promised a family, while Mercury is promised not to get hurt if he behaves. They see their situation under Cinder as better than their previous one, which gives them the space to build a relationship. Still, they are clearly in an abusive environment nonetheless, which worsens the moment they go to Evernight. There all their weaknesses and flaws emerge and keep them apart. Emerald can't let go of Cinder (wish), while Mercury can't disobey Salem (fear). This is very heartbreaking, but also realistic. They have no means to escape their abuse alone and can't really save the other, even if they want to.
Emerald tries to get through to Mercury when it comes to Salem and to what they are doing.
Mercury tries to get through to Emerald when it comes to Cinder and the nature of her relationship with Em.
Both fail because in the end Emerald and Mercury have to grow as people before their relationship can develop.
Here are more or less my thoughts... not sure I answered your asks properly and there are some ramble here, sorry. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed!
Thank you for passing by and for enjoying my metas!

All right so I'm going to get the groupings done today and hopefully have the matchups posted by today or tomorrow, but before I get started on that I thought I'd take a second to lay out the etiquette I'm expecting (and what behavior I will be banning) from this poll.
So, unlike the Artificial Kids Poll, which leaned into the "we're taking the kids out for ice cream later" vibe, I'm not gonna come down super hard on trash talk in this one. But that doesn't mean that anything goes! Here's some ideas of what will and will not fly.
Things that are fine:
-Comically exaggerated threats. (Ie, "If my fave doesn't win I'm blowing up the moon!" This is absurd. You're being silly. This is Saturday morning cartoon villain levels of overreaction. I'm fine with this.)
-Playground levels of trash talk. (Ie, "I can't believe they crossed over Camp Camp and Bob's Burgers. Look, see? Little King Trash Mouth." Look, you wanna throw shade at the characters, go for it. They can take it. This is okay too.)
-Incentivizing people to vote against an entry. (Ie, "If this entry wins I'll never watch this show you all keep telling me to watch/if they lose I'll definitely watch it." You wanna hold your own interests hostage to your followers do what you want. This is also fine.)
Things that are not fine:
-Insulting the canon properties or the people who enjoy them. (Ie, "Pitting this media property that I really like and find meaning in against this random who cares media property is an insult to my favorite media property." Any media property can have meaning to anyone, and sometimes the submissions came from people who were trying to fix a bad media so aren't even fans anyway and wouldn't appreciate the implication.)
(AND YES I WILL BE HOLDING MYSELF TO THIS AS WELL. There's RWBY characters in this poll and I am going to be sitting on my fucking hands not to insult RWBY's bad writing or take my usual potshots at how bad cRWBY are at their jobs. Like, for example, see that <- That kind of thing won't be tolerated.)
-Comments about the characters' appearance that can potentially reflect on real existing people who share that trait. (Ie, Felix is cartoonishly thin and explicitly drawn to look like a grimy little shit-weasel; remarks like that are fine, but "He's so ugly, look at his stupid white boy haircut and his complete lack of an ass," are traits that potentially someone reading could possibly have. We're only looking to trash the pretend people, we don't want collateral damage over here.)
-Should go without saying but anything that counts as real world hate-speech (racism, transphobia, anti-semitism, misogyny, ableism, etc, etc, etc- if it feels like you're using my silly tumblr poll as an excuse to be a bigoted piece of shit, I'm blocking you.)
-Anything that invalidates a character's likeability as a character. (This one is purely vibes but a good example is the person on Artificial Kids who kept tagging a poll with their fave against Boyd with how much they hated him. This wasn't trash talk; this was genuine insulting the character and by extension his fans just for the crime of being against their fave. If you're getting this het up about a silly tumblr poll, you probably need to take a step back from online activity. Take a walk around your block or bake some bread or take yourself out for lunch. Something to settle your feelings idk. Just step away and calm down it's not that big a deal.)
TL;DR: I am allowing friendly ribbing and trash talk, but keep it in good sportsmanship territory. Your shade should not extend beyond the pretend people you're throwing it at. Are we all clear? This is a silly tumblr poll, it doesn't need to get that serious.

Sorry if these asks are to frequent
Racism is a lot more complicated then just “people don’t like the Faunus” like marrow said in volume 7 it’s a deeply embedded systemic issue, as an example o highly doubt Jacques could be convinced the Faunus “aren’t that bad” because he directly profits from those systems of oppression. And the majority of humans ignore it because they also benefit.
Dismantling those systems is a difficult process that requires some level of direct action, it takes a lot more then just convincing humans to like you with some speech.
It’s true we haven’t seen any official human/Faunus relationships, except technically a mention of velvets parents, but so far I doubt it will play a major plot role
In fact, I doubt one can realistically “unite all, of humanity” in the amount of time the show has left, quite frankly I think the gods demands of ozpin are vague and unfair as is,
A story where Blake and yang convince the huma and Faunus refuges to “get along”would honestly feel kinda insulting. This isn’t a problem that can be solved by people “just being nicer to each other”, honestly being the “bridge between humans and Faunus” to me implies the issue is some self existing chasm, and not a cage human society has purposefully put the Faunus in.
All good points. But, with respect, that's not the central conflict of the show. It is most definitely a very important aspect that I hope they address further and that they learned stuff in the past from. It's also possible they took a step back from it cuz they realized they weren't equipped to write such a story and do it WELL so they want to figure it out and get it RIGHT. But, obviously, Salem and all of that is the central plot. Of course that's what's going to take most of the screen time, along with things directly affecting Team RWBY themselves at whatever moment it is in time. Like the shit in the Ever After rn and their personal fallout from what happened in Atlas.
Also, they don't necessarily have to "unite all of humanity." People are gonna people. And all that, that entails. They just have to either somehow stop Salem or make her understand. "So long as this world turns, you shall walk its face. You must learn the importance of life and death. Only then may you rest." Pretty sure THAT is the key. She latched onto that first part and may have skipped over the second.
Again though, this is all just speculation at this point. The simple truth is that we have NO IDEA how the story will go. Only CRWBY does at this point. If there's one thing I've learned while watching this show for so many years, it's that I'm actually very bad at predicting shit for it. Normally I'm great at that. But not with this show. Doesn't stop me from trying though 😂
Regardless, I still think Yang would be involved with the efforts of Blake, the Belladonnas and the White Fang. She would have anyways, I feel like. But especially now that they're together. We may not get to directly see it in the show but..... yeah.

Alright it's 5:30 in the morning so I'm gonna make one more post of my thoughts about the teaser then go to bed... and fail to fall asleep because I will still be thinking about it.
So the opening shot of Ruby in the fog room, we see her shake her head slightly suggesting she's talking, also she's seemingly by herself, so either the team doesn't reunite until a ways into the volume or Ruby is separated from the others. Might be some sort of personal trial thing? I've heard in another post that apparently the island reacts to their emotions so maybe this is just what happens when Ruby finally breaks down? it summons this... ominous fog.
The next scene is from the last teaser, and unless we are getting scenes of what's going on back in remnant it will likely be the opening scene of the volume. Not much to say here.
Then the crazy m.c. escher-esque bell tower and butterfly. The view outside the tower windows make it seem like the structure is horizontal, but differentsides don't match up, and the butterfly's movement says vertical. So clearly some trippy shit going on here. Can't quite make out what the pattern is inside the grid at the end of the structure is, but it kinda looks like a raised dias with a set of stairs leading up to it.
The next scene has Ruby holding one of penny's summoned swords. So if they made it down here then its possible her body did too, which... is unpleasant to think about given the general fuckery of this place. Crwby don't do us dirty with some kind of zombie penny please.
Then Ruby looking shocked in the forest with the mouse, I'm guessing this is fairly early on and she's just seen something that's made the otherworldliness of this place land for her.
Followed by a shot of the team on a cliffside overlooking some absoultely bonkers terrain. This could actually be a shot directly following from the last one and this view is what has Ruby shocked. We have the world tree, a hexagon of big glowing mushrooms, some smoking geyser/volcano rock formations, a floating island, some icy peaks and weird columns off in the distance, and oh yeah, fucking candyland apparently. If the terrain responds to their presence then Neo is definitely somewhere in the candy zone. We've also got a red area that reminds me of forever fall and a purpke area that kinda looks like a town covered in shadecloths that are partially hidden by the cliff and trees. So... a lot of ground to cover.
Then we've got a knight with armour seemingly reminiscent of Jaune's standing in flames. Is it jaune? Maybe, he doesn't appear anywhere else in the trailer. Definitely framed like a bad guy though. So either it's someone else or we're getting evil/corrupted jaune this volume.
Then this weird horned masked guy standing in what looks like a tree structure with glowing mushrooms around, some kind of village maybe? Also the figure has some kind of armour, shell, or exoskeleton over sinewy tissue. Not much to work with, but the stance, twitchy movement and the horns do remind me of the god of darkness a bit.
Neo looking feral in the rain and using her semblance on herself, though the scene cuts off before you can tell what illusion she's making. The terrain looks purple and rocky I don't think we've seen that so far in the trailer, so she might be in a very different area.
Someone with a bandage around one leg walking from the beach following another (likely Ruby's) set of footprints. A lot of people are saying Alyx and I'm inclined to agree mostly because they looked quite human, unlike a lot of the stuff we've seen so far, and I don't have any other good guesses except neo in disguise, abd why would she bother disguising herself if no one's there.
Then we get a montage of things asking what. The mouse talks, there's soneone with a crown, a chesire cat creature that said fuck you I'm gonna have my own artstyle, something with three eyes lurking in a pile of leaves, a lady in some kind of metal exosuit, and Ruby standing over someone (or something? We hear a what here too, but she closes a lid, so maybe whoecer spoke did so from a different place than Ruby's eyeline. That or she's locking someone in a trunk, which... normally I would say she wouldn't do, but hey she's under a lot of stress, who knows) off screen with death in her eyes. Too brief to be able to tell much about each of these. Though the exo-suit lady looks to have something to do with jaune/the knight from earlier just because they appear to be in the same place surrounded by fire. If not the person on the beach then this would be my next guess for Alyx, and it turns out she's maybe not gonna be as helpful as we hoped. No Idea why Ruby's so pissed off, but I guess that depends on who/what she's standing over.
Then we get shots of each of team Rwby and the trailer ends.
All in all, I have very few answers here. Team Rwby definitely seems to cover a lot of varied terrains, but whether they're doing so with intent or just searching remains to be seen. Jaune might be having a horrible time this volume as some kind of corrupted enemy, or that could be something completely different and they just decided not to show him in the teaser.
I have no idea, but writing all this down instead of having it rattling around my brain will hopefully help me sleep better.

The handling of the theme of fear these couple of volumes really is baffling, especially because what Ironwood was experiencing when he learned Salem was coming wasn’t fear, but despair; the complete loss of hope. Add in the fact that we saw what fear was like back with Raven and Lionheart, doing everything they could to preserve their lives while endangering everyone around them, and you wonder what exactly the writer’s logic was.
I would say James was definitely scared as well as suffering from extreme despair and that is not a bad thing. Fear is a human emotions that people should be allowed to feel without fear of being called weak or cowardly. James being afraid I don't have an issue with, it's this weird idea that fear is inherently bad instead of just a natural emotion to feel when faced with the odds James has dumped on him. I think trying to portray fear as being the thing that is wrong is well wrong. It should be how a person responds in the face of fear that matters. Leo and Raven responded by letting innocent people die in a desperate attempt at self preservation, which is most certainly wrong to do. James however responds by coming up with a plan to save as many as he can. James unfortunately was stuck with a trolley problem with a timer attached that he didn't know how much time was left to decide, so he made a very quick decision because he didn't think he had enough time to save everyone. Personally, while I lean more towards James's plan as being the smarter one, neither plan I would really argue is wrong to go with. The one wrong choice I think would be to throw in the towel and hand Salem the relics which he refuses to do. Despite his very understandable fear, he stands up and he says no to Salem's demands and comes up with some sort of plan to try and do something.
Uh sorry I went on a tangent their anon. Personally I just read the scene where James finds out about Salem as a mixture of fear and despair given how he is desperately at first trying to keep Oscar from seeing his face which to me reads as he is scared and he knows it shows but doesn't want to let Oscar see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's covering a lot of his face and turned away from Oscar but I could also see a read of "He's extremely distressed and just doesn't want Oscar to see and the fear hasn't set in yet. Because we know he is terrified of Salem when she makes her appearance later on with him freezing, going limp limbed and trembling out of control when she backs him into the corner.
Tumblr media
But you know that is the great thing about animation, the animators can put so much into what they make and people can walk away with very different interpretations of a scene when most of the information is being conveyed silently to the audience. It's always fun to hear different opinions on what someone walks away from a scene with.
But regardless of if when speaking with Oscar, the main emotion is fear or despair doesn't matter all that much to me when talking about how strangely CRWBY handles the idea of someone being afraid. I am not a fan of this idea of fear being something bad you know? People are allowed to be afraid, it's natural and trying to argue it's some sort of character flaw for someone to be scared is extremely harmful, and I have to agree with the question, what was CRWBY thinking? Though I imagine the answer is they where not thinking and just wanted to make James evil as quickly as possible with no care for how harmful doing so was.

@yangsbandana ranked her top 10 bees moments and then i got in my feelings about them so fuck it!! here's my top 10 after the cut
10. that little eyeroll and smile blake does in v1 when yang picks up the chess piece in the emerald forest and says "how about a cute little pony?" they've only been partners for about for 30 minutes at this point, and blake has spent multiple episodes practically screaming "I DON'T WANT TO GET CLOSE TO ANYONE, I AM A BAD PERSON WHO DOESN’T DESERVE HAPPINESS." and still yang gets the prickly ex-terrorist to smile. gay.
9. yang's reply to blake at mountain glenn. blake is still so torn up about running away from home, her actions while with the white fang, running from adam, her present, her future. and all yang says is that she knows she won't run away from a challenge. that she's strong enough to face it and come out on the other side better than she was. the utter faith of it all!!
8. all of v4 lmao. but i have narrow that down so it's when yang looks at the pile of books in her very first scene in that volume and then turns away with the saddest look on her face. she misses just blake so much even though she left!!! and she doesn't want to because missing someone has never brought back the people she cares about, but she is anyway! bees angst is usually not my favorite but when it hits it hits and v4 and v5 were it
7. the dummied out cherry stem yang ties with her tongue while staring directly at blake in v2. she is extremely gay and she is trying so, so hard to show the girl she likes that she's interested. bless her. crwby, yall are cowards for taking this away from us
6. nora at the rally going "friends? just friends? i think they have more going on". nora is easily one of the most emotionally intelligent characters on the show so when she says two people wanna kiss i believe her. it's also notable that this is the first time anyone in-show has acknowledged blake and yang have something happening, even if they aren't necessarily together. praying that there's a followup to this in v10 where she outright asks what the deal is now that they're back from survivor island in the Time Pit
top 5...god i suffered for ages over this and i still think i forgot something
5. "i'll destroy everything you love...starting with her." cw for this vid: dismemberment, abusive relationships
undefined
youtube
i'm a relatively new fan having only picked up rwby in late 2019. my friends who were into it kept telling me it was pretty gay and one friend routinely sent bumbleby fanart because she knew it would entice me to start the show faster. and sure i thought they were cute, but i was still unsure if this was for real or not. but this scene. this one right here is the one where i went, "oh. oh, we're actually doing this.” there is no real way to read this as other than romantic. the framing, the timing, like.... man.
i’m also a sucker for devotion in ships and if sacrificing an arm to save the one you love and not even blaming them for running away isn’t devotion, i don’t know what it is.
4. burning the candle.
undefined
youtube
if number 5 convinced me, burning the candle was the one that got me on the train. here was my reaction from a friend sending gifs of this without too much context
Tumblr media
and then i finally watched and got hella emotional. it’s a lot of firsts: yang opening up about her past, disagreement, blake allowing herself comfort. but they still manage to talk, work through how they feel, and leave better than they were. and i think it’s what i love about them the most? regardless of what happens, they have each others backs and always work toward a compromise. ugh. god.
also that stupid flirty wink is fooling no one, just say you’ll meet her under the bleachers
3. "what if I needed her there for me"/"yang was strength"
yes it’s kind of cheating to put two different scenes in one spot but they share real estate in my brain. these are the pinnacle of v5 bees angst, for me. there’s a lot left unsaid and literal continents between them, but they’re both saying the same thing. “i miss her a lot. i really wish she was here.” and at this point they haven’t been in the same room for almost 2 seasons. they have a lot of emotional ground to cover when they see each other and even more healing to do.
regardless of it all, they can’t stop thinking about each other. someway, somehow, they want to make their more-than-friendship work.
speaking of seeing each other again
2. beeunion 2.0
blake walks into the battle at haven at the most bizarre time. weiss has a big giant wasp summon (and it looks like she’s been stabbed???? but she’s fine???????), her friends are here, all the bad guys are also here, there’s some random kid fighting a juiced up dude with a cane. everything is fucking happening at once. and all blake can say is "yang?" In that little scared, hopeful voice
and like. the look on yang’s face as she sees blake for the first time is of utter awe. this person she never thought she’d see again singled her out in a room of utter chaos looking just as amazed to see her.
also there’s this gay little moment after yang comes out of the vault
Tumblr media
1. “we’re protecting each other.”

youtube
to this day, this is the only scene in rwby that has almost brought me to tears. it really is all about both of them realizing they don’t have to face their ordeals alone ever again. they’ll be each others’ pillar with unwavering faith.
just! fuck me up!!!!!!! JUST FUCK ME UP
quick honorable mentions:
blake's gay little skip in v6
sun saying that yang would never blame blake for what happened with adam
bumblebee the bike ramming into adam at high speed
yangs gay meltdown over the haircut
“do you think...she thinks less of me?”/”you could always try calling yang...”
beeunion 3.0
actually all their moments in v7 (the talk in the truck, the moment in the airship, getting ready for their totally a date but not a date before the election)

I am sorry, but none of the ideas Whiterose shippers bring up matches the facts brought on table by Nuts and Dolts in these past few seasons, and despite this clear advantage over the other ship, Nuts and Dolts still died. Which means that if Penny and Ruby barely walked, then Whiterose never even got up. It's been such a long time, lets stop pretending RWBY wants to give the main protagonist any sort of romance. I don't mean to be rude either, but its discouraging to see people bait themselves like this and then blaim the crew when crwby said it themselves that Whiterose is non romantic in canon. Please, lets just accept it in a healthy manner and move on. Nuts and Dolts was always more solid and deep and had a lot of focus compared to Whiterose, and yet, it looks like RWBY just wants to keep the protagonist single. It's clear at this point.
...is... is neath not part of crwby....?
*deep sigh* Look dude I get that you think that Whiterose is dead or doesn't make sense but you don't need to keep repeating the same points and ignoring any points brought up, there's a lot going for Whiterose, they literally follow the main ship checklist to the T excluding having a song.
First designs shared a color? Check.
Teammates? Check.
Cause major character growth in each other? Checked even more then any other main ship between RWBY and JNPR, Weiss is a completely different person now thanks to Ruby and their friends.
Consistently having each others colors/complementary colors in their designs with one or two exceptions and/or when symbolically it makes sense that they wouldn't have the partners color? (for example V4-5 Weiss who then got a red scarf out of nowhere when she was fully reunited with Ruby and was with her a whole volume or in early volumes where Ruby had no white in her pallet because she and Weiss weren’t friends yet) Check.
Compared to other Cannon ships? CHECK.
I don't know how many times I can explain that Whiterose is and always has been planned without pulling up the entire show for examples. So much of Volume 1 was dedicated to their relationship and the amount we’ve gotten afterwords is nothing to sneeze at. Having another ship in mind can make you not see (or not want to see) where romantic moments could lie, for example I didn’t seriously ship Nuts and Dolts until Volume 7 because I hadn’t entertained the idea, then Penny was back and I was realizing all the points earlier on where that could definitely be romantic, or how, to use another RT show, in Gen:Lock I was 100% behind Yas x Valentina until someone went ‘hey that moment with kazu and val was kinda romantic’ and it made me realize oh that was also a possibility and I love it
To get back on track kind of, I’m trying really hard to be patient and civil but after how much bashing I’ve gotten just all over the dang place from pretty much every ‘ships ruby with someone else’ part of the fandom under the sun (that one roseg@rden shipper who sent me anon death threats that i didn’t post because DUH i’m talking about you specifically, you know who you are, please fuck off) and I’m just tired at this point of having to defend the ship I love over and over and over again.
I shouldn’t have to drop everything to say the exact same thing over and over again to different people.

They should make blacksun canon anyway. The bees don't deserve it, queerbaiting or otherwise. It sets a bad precedent for others to follow. Also I've been stung too many times too give a shit about the toxic fandom's accusations or hurt feelings. OR make blacksun sink and have it be the worst case scenario, really rub it in our faces and poor salt on our wounds. I'd rather go for these options than settle for a half assed lukewarm outcome that stinks of non commitment and cowardice. Bring it on!
Look, I get your bitterness on this subject, but this isn’t something I can agree with. I too have been really frustrated with the more toxic bumblby shippers, and I’ve seen a lot of bad and biphobic comments. I’ve been rattled by so many comments saying that people shouldn’t ship Blake with a man, that she’d be less gay if she started dating a man, claiming Blake clearly never liked men, and people calling her a canon lesbian... That kind of thing can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to hear as a bi woman. But I think there are a couple of important things to remember here.
1. The toxic bumblby shippers like this really do seem to do a very loud and aggressive small (by fandom standards) group, and there are a lot of perfectly fine, welcoming, nice people who ship bb and who have never harassed anyone. I don’t spend a lot of time in the main tags, but I haven’t really seen any hate recently, and a lot of people think the in-fighting is stupid and even call out blogs that are being hateful. A lot of people watch RWBY, and only some of them use Tumblr, and only some of those Tumblr people make it hard and harass people. It doesn’t make your feelings of frustration less valid and it doesn’t make the way people treated you okay, but I just think it’s important to remember that there are more people who would be hurt if CRWBY pulled the rug out from under them like that than just the jerks who think it’s okay to attack others over cartoon ships.
2. This isn’t just about a ship and if they’d be frustrated by a couple they like not being canon, this is about the queer community and the fact that they’ve been capitalized on for monetary gain over and over again while being given crumbs, only to realize they were just getting strung along. I’m a part of the queer community, and it sucks. It’s not just Bumblby here, it’s about CRWBY having promised the queer community much needed representation. To pull the rug out from under not only toxic bb shippers, but literally the whole of the LGBTQ+ community watching the show for the sake of making a point would be just awful, and it’d make other people feel like they can get away with it too. Maybe CRWBY did just give into fandom demands when they started to make bb canon, but to walk back on it now would be total bull, and I wouldn’t stand for it. How I feel about the ship (I don’t like it) and the toxic fans (I wish they’d shut up) pales in comparison to how I’d feel if I found out yet another show tried to string me and other queer people along for eight seasons only to dump us after they thought they’d gotten enough money. That’s the current bad precedent that RWBY has already followed too much (not giving bb the same kind of confirmation of romantic intent in eight years that they gave all their starting opposite sex relationships in the first two seasons.) That would enable the bad precedent to continue further, and other people would follow.
3. There are toxic people for every ship in RWBY. You see more toxic blacksun shippers then let’s say, Monochrome, because BlackSun has more content and therefore appealed to more people. But Bumblby is the biggest ship in the show and the numbers of fics written for them on ao3 is a huge number. There are more toxic bumblby shippers probably by pure volume, and they shouldn’t get to ruin it for everyone else. But if we were stopping all ships that had a number of toxic and mean fans, I hate to say it, but blacksun would have to be canned too. I’ve seen the ‘people only ship bb because they’re gay women’ posts. I’ve seen the ‘It’s like they’re shoving gay people down my throat’ posts. I’ve seen the ‘they’re pretending Blake likes women all of a sudden but she liked men so which is true’ posts.
Look, I don’t ship bumblby and I sure hate the way it’s been executed. But the bottom line is I’ll take a ship I don’t like over giving the whole LGBTQ+ community the middle finger. I get why you’re mad at the bumblby community, but this is just how I feel about it.

(1) i understand how the other feel about ozpins lies but I don't thi k how they act with Oscar is awful ,I hope he snaps at them ,and stands up for ozpin an himself
(2) I was hoping that oscar would some how thanks to ozpins memories ,would bring the people in the city of mantel together to fight the grim some how get them all to atlus,
(3) I was hoping that oscar would get a episode to him self were maybe a few days go by and he on his own but v8 going to b 2 episodes even if he did get time to him self for an episode or 2 I feel like I would get to see him do as much as I'm hoping 4
(4) like ur self I'd like to see ruby reaction to him maybe being maybe gone,I'd like to see Oscar feeling on losing the lamp an letting ruby down
(5) I think oscar should get gravity dust or wind to help him keep up with the others
(6) I now we're going to see Oscar with y,j, and r but i want him to be with Weiss and Blake
Uhm…since I already gave my answers to Points 2, 3, 5 and 6 in other RWBY response posts, I’m just gonna only answer Points 1 and 4 for this one to avoid having to repeat myself XD
“…I understand how the others feel about Ozpin’s lies but I don’t think how they act with Oscar is awful. I hope he snaps at them and stands up for Ozpin and himself…”
Assuming that you meant that you think the way how the group treated Oscar back in Argus was bad and you’re hoping for him to go off on them, I don’t blame you for feeling that way anon-chan. Not to sound overdramatic or anything like that but V6CH9 is still considered my most despised episode of that season and RWBY in general and I’ll even toss in V6CH8 as well since I didn’t and still don’t like how the show basically had everyone stand idly by and allowed Jaune to walk across the room and slam Oscar into the wall.
And what was even worse is that no one dared to pull Jaune off of Oscar as he practically shook the kid while screaming accusations in his face for actions that weren’t even his. And the real kicker to me is that even when I rewatch that scene it just feels so out of character for the others to just let that happen. They all literally just stood there as Jaune wrongfully manhandled Oscar.
Sure we had Weiss attempt to stop Jaune but outside of that and Ruby barking at Jaune to back off of Oscar, nothing else was done. No one thought to step in front of Oscar and come between him and Jaune before the Arc boy could lay a finger on Oscar.
And what sucks even more is that even after watching what Jaune did to Oscar, NO ONE thought to check in on him and see if he was alright after such an ordeal. Instead Ren and Nora leave to comfort Jaune---Oscar’s accoster mind you----while the others divided to do other things. And yet one of them wasn’t making sure that Oscar was fine emotionally. Yet they all act surprise when they find him gone from the house?
Which makes the fact that all he did was leave to go shopping so utterly bad that it’s not even funny. I know it’s a meme in the Pinehead community (along with Oscar’s missing character development and the fact that he’s practically the pet gold fish of the hero team that they keep neglecting and losing each season yet he always comes back and still loves those silly bastards anyways) but I honestly hate that that’s canon. Anyways, I’m not here to rant about V6CH9. In respect to Oscar telling off the others for the way they treated him and Oz back in V6, I think it could be mighty swell for that to happen.
As a Pinehead, I am genuinely tired of this weird approach that the show has of having Oscar be perfectly complacent with everything that’s happened to him---even when he’s downright being practically abused to some degree. It’s not fun to watch as a fan of his character. Oscar has been through a lot since his introduction and outside of the dojo moment from V5 where he confessed his fears to Ruby, we haven’t really gotten any more moments of Oscar coming clean about his true feelings over his current experiences.
And NO I am not counting his speech in V6CH9 where the showrunners deadass had the audacity to have Oscar say to the hero group that he’s been contemplating about all that happened between him, Oz and the whole reveal of Ozma and the events of the Lost Fable despite never showing the audience scenes where we can see Oscar doing just that.
It is insulting at this point how poorly the CRWBY Writers have handled Oscar’s treatment in the show. While V7 was definitely an improvement (albeit except for that one episode where Double D Rivas downright forgot Oscar in the episode while all his so-called teammates and friends were up in Amity celebrating), it still doesn’t quite make up for the mistakes of V6 nor does it erase my disappointment for that volume in terms of how they handled Oscar’s side of the story.
All the more reason to hope for better things to be done for Oscar in V8. Like you, I would like to see Oscar speak up against the team and their past actions (especially with the mistakes they made with Ironwood and still have yet to take responsibility for), not necessarily in defence of himself since Oscar has been shown to be a selfless individual---always placing others before himself---but more so for Oz.
I want Oscar to be the one to mend the tethered bond within his team between the others and the other half of himself. After all, while two differing souls, Oz is still a part of Oscar especially once the Merge occurs. They may not be the same person but they are a part of each other and will come together to complete one another. Or at least complete Oscar since according to V5, Oz is the one meant to change with the Merge. Not Oscar. I mean Oscar will technically change but I’d still like to strongly believe that his soul will become the dominating personality and persona as Oz’s fades more into the background as it combines with his.
And while the other heroes may like and trust Oscar, they can’t favour only half of him. This is especially the case since Oscar and Oz are expected to become one entity at some point. So I’m hoping that before that happens, Oscar uses this time to get everyone back on the same page---burying the hatchet after all that transpired between the last two volumes and thus starting things anew with everyone having a clean slate.
This needs to be done in order for the heroes to move forward and work together since uniting against the common foe will be what helps not just them but all of humanity and Remnant. At least that’s what I assume. While I don’t necessarily need Oscar to go off on the other heroes, I would like it if it he did call them out for their past mistakes with Ironwood---mistakes that he unfortunately partook in encouraging---as well as their treatment of Oz, finally helping them to see the bigger picture and what’s more at stake. I’m honestly tired of the story having our heroes pin all the blame on Ozpin while making it appear as if RWBY were in the right despite doing the exact same thing that got Oz in trouble with them.
So for what it’s worth, I hope that’s addressed in the series and I hope it lends to Oscar aiding to patch things between the team and Oz especially now that he’s returned. The group and Oz need to reconcile and I’d like to believe that Oscar is the key to helping with that.
“…Like yourself, I’d like to see Ruby’s reaction to him maybe being gone. I’d like to see Oscar’s feelings on losing the lamp and letting Ruby down…”
Ooooh I’d love it if V8 kicks off with Ruby learning that Ironwood had ‘killed’ Oscar. That’s a scene I am literally praying would happen when the group split up and RWBN_P head up to Atlas or Amity Arena to confront Ironwood. I want Ironwood to just blurt it out like it meant nothing to him that he shot and killed a child---I want to see Ironwood basically treat Oscar as nothing more than another face for Oz---not even his own person despite promising him in the second episode of V7 that so long as Oscar was in Atlas, he would be safe.
And most of all, I want to see the reactions of everyone---Ruby and Nora especially---when Ironwood says with the straightest and most cold-hearted of expressions that he killed Oscar. If we don’t get a scene like that then not gonna lie anon-chan, I will be beyond disappointed. Because what’s the point of having Ironwood shoot Oscar to his death if it wasn’t going to be brought up at some point, ey?
Give me that angsty scene where either Ruby or Nora---most likely Nora--- get super pissed at the reveal of Oscar’s alleged death, thus sparking her to attack Ironwood and thus, a fight breaks out between RWBN_P and the Ace Ops, talks of negotiation completely out the window since Ironwood killing one of their own (Oscar) practically meant war.
I also wonder if Qrow being framed for killing Clover might also come up as well. Like imagine a scene where one of the Ace Ops accuses our heroes of treason after letting them know that Qrow was charged for Clover’s murder, much to RWBN_P’s surprise only for Ironwood to indifferently say something to the extent of the group being even in some way---Qrow allegedly killed one of his own (meaning Clover) while Ironwood killed one of theirs (meaning Oscar) and that’s how it’s revealed. Or something to that level. Who knows? All in all, I want that scene to happen and I really, really, REALLY want it to see Ruby’s response to Oscar’s alleged murder since she’s someone whose always protected him since the start. It’ll be even worse if she learns that her actions resulted in Ironwood killing Oscar for that added double whammy. That could be great storytelling and character-building-wise! Buuuuut we’ll see for next season.
As for Oscar being saddened over losing the lamp and letting Ruby down---well technically we kind of got a scene like that already last volume anon-chan. It was during the moment in the finale episode after JNPR 2.0 had managed to evade capture and were hiding away in the training room. While taking a breather, Oscar apologized for losing the lamp leading to Jaune trying to reassure him only for Ren to ruin the moment by bringing up the fact that the villains now have possession of the Lamp of Knowledge while the Staff of Creation was still in Ironwood’s grasps.
In that scene, the camera made sure to focus on Oscar’s troubled expression as Ren went on his tangent. As a matter of fact, it was Ren going off that made Oscar run off to go confront Ironwood in the first place as his way of trying to fix everything on his own.
I’m not sure if we’ll get to see Oscar apologizing to Ruby personally for losing the lamp after she entrusted him. However I think it could be a potentially cute Rosegarden moment if the first thing Oscar does when reuniting with the others is apologize to Ruby specifically for losing the lamp only for Ruby to disregard his apology completely and straight up just embrace Oscar on the spot; more relieved to discover that he was alive to even care about the relic. That’s something I’d like to see done for V8 but who knows?

What I Want From (C)RWBY
I'll put this under a read more because it's gonna be a long one.
On a less important note, I want to see Team RWBY /JNR be beaten down from their hypocrisy. And I mean SERIOUSLY beaten down. A bit like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And go into hiding for a bit (like a certain someone had to) for their lies and deceit. Do that. Take them down a peg, and I'll be happy. But CRWBY probably won't.
ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE. I also want RWBY to stop being released yearly. Last week Kerry tweeted this.
Tumblr media
Which I doubt... I SERIOUSLY doubt the episode was ready. I think because staff couldnt make it into the office, the episode wasn't finished in time.
Back when Volume 6 was being released in 2018, RWBY Rewind was also being released as a companion piece and would give previews of episodes before they were released. In episode 8 a preview of Chapter 9 was shown... and the animation was VERY incomplete.
From the RWBY Wiki "An unfinished clip of Jaune, Ren, Nora, and Saphron walking through Argus was shown on an episode of RWBY Rewind two weeks before this episode was released for FIRST members. On the live broadcast, this clip included some layering issues, such as Saphron walking off-screen through a building or a background character appearing to walk in front of a trash can in the foreground. These were corrected when the RWBY Rewind episode was officially released the next day."
I also remember one of the writers tweeting something along the lines of "The animators are working hard, the episode is gonna be fine, buzz off" But the question wasn't asked... WHY are the animators having to still work less than a week before it's release?!
One word: CRUNCH.
But don't just take it from me! Here's a Google document from four ex-employees.
"Me: Did you ever experience crunch and if so how many times?
2: They preferred to do pre-production and production at the same time (when I was there, hopefully they have improved) so there were constant fires to put out daily because we would be animating to scenes that weren’t completely written yet or had final audio or had character designs or even puppets yet because they were still in concept or art stages still. Then we would invariably have to re-animate entire shots on-a-dime because something changed or would be behind deadline because of delays with getting art or the relative inexperience of the animators (they got quite good though - love those guys and gals) which would increase crunch time again..."
Please, PLEASE give this a read.
In conclusion:
1. Get actual good writers to write the show and fix the main character's unlikeable-ness.
2. STOP YEARLY RELEASES. QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY. BOTH FOR THE SHOW AND THE EMPLOYEES.

Tai and Raven being married makes absolutely no sense. Especially since we don't know if they divorced or are just legally separated Tai and Summer probably aren't divorced. But ehat the hell could drive Raven would lives for the tribe get married and then walk away back to the tribe? It could be an interesting story but the way rwby has it it doesn't make sense based on Raven's current character it would make way more sense that Tai and Raven were young full of passion and accidentally had Yang
their marriage really did shock me because it felt very out of character for raven, and i don’t think crwby really thought it through at all.

Walking a mile in their shoes (Yang)
A previous post about Ruby and her character development up until the episode "So That's How it is" has lead to this! Yang is absolutely fascinating!
Let me know if you guys noticed anything I missed or if you think I have misunderstood/misinterpreted something (highly likely).
Yang Xiao Long
Out of every character in the show right now, Yang worries me the most. Her character development has been spot on and completely realistic, but not particularly in a good way. At least, not for the situation she is in.
Yang has been through some shit. Not even just recently, but her whole life. The feeling of abandonment that has followed her her whole life has never really gone away. In fact, it's only grown stronger.
In the first three volumes Yang was bullheaded, stubborn, energetic, and a large positive influence on her team. She had always been Ruby's cheerleader, pushing her to be more confident in herself and go for the gold! She was the main support pillar of Blake, working closely as her partner to make her feel safe and listened to. Those first three volumes we didn't really see many interaction between her and Weiss, but just because you aren't actively working to help someone doesn't mean you are not helping at all. Weiss is from a very tense, closed door kind of home. Yang, for all intents and purposes, was the Sparta kick to all closed doors she had never known was possible. Watching someone with that kind of confidence can be extremely inspiring, and I believe that might have been a strong portion of the respect the two clearly had for each other throughout those first three volumes, as shown in the two vs. two battle in the tournament.
Then Beacon fell and everything went wrong. Cinder was right to have them take out Yang the way they did (those rat bastards. I still love them as character portrayals but damn them!). Yang was the unshakeable foundation. She held absolute belief in herself because she had worked her damned hardest to be able to feel that way. She made sure her team, her family, saw her as someone they could depend on. Someone who was strong enough, and good enough, to defeat anything in their way.
Mercury and Emerald took that from her. I know we all place pretty much all of the blame for Yang's emotional turmoil right now on Adam (and rightfully so that dick) but I don't think we should forget that directly before that she had already been shaken down to her core beliefs. For a moment there, her whole team had been against her. Not aggressively, no, but it was clear that they were horrified by her actions (false as they were but no one had known that yet).
Suddenly her role was gone. Ruby looked at her as though she were the one that needed supporting. Blake, for a heart wrenching moment, believed she could become a cruel person. And Weiss...
Weiss actually surprised me. For all of her troubles with Ruby and Blake before I had expected at least a small confrontational remark. Nothing major, she had clearly already grown and opened up some by that point, perhaps just asking her why she did it. Instead she was completely supportive of Yang, immediately believing that she had a reason for what she had done and that the reason was valid. I knew she had grown but at this moment I realized how much. Good job Weiss.
I think that was a strong starting point for the supportive relationship (romantic or platonic, I just love the interactions and really, really want to see more so you can choose for yourselves) that they begin to develop in the fifth volume.
Weiss withstanding, Yang was still at a loss. Then she hears about her mother from Qrow. I won't say it was a wrong call, I don't have enough experience with either of their emotional states to say if it would have been better to remain silent or not, but it is factually accurate to say that Yang was in a very emotionally vulnerable state when she got the news.
Mentally vulnerable, mentions of absent mother thus bringing a strong reminder of those heavy abandonment feelings, Beacon falling, loosing an arm (another huge part of who she is) and then Blake leaves.
If the tournament had gone well, or at least Yang had been left alone, I feel like Yang would have reacted a bit differently about Blake's disappearance. She still would have been upset, absolutely, but the strong stab of betrayal she had felt would have been lessened. At least, I believe so. Too much had happened, she couldn't think about why Blake had left. Only that she had.
Thoughts of abandonment had already been on her mind. The situation exacerbated that and tore what little mental defenses she had left down. Losing her arm was, no doubt, an extreme blow to her core. The mental manipulation just added twice the impact.
(I actually think she should be equally, or maybe even more so in some cases, vengeful towards Emerald and Mercury, but I can see how the actual physical trauma has overwritten what they did in her mind a fair bit)
As such, I was supremely impressed when she was able to pull herself up again, and in such short time too! I know it was months covered in the fourth volume, but things like that can take up to years to even to begin making strong progress in. She wasn't completely stable, of course not, something like that doesn't just go away (and CRWBY you are gosh darn amazing for keeping that in mind you loveable masterminds) as shown by her shaking hand in tense situations and outbursts of anger whenever she is questioned but she was taking strong steps forward. She was trying, and really, that's all I wanted for her.
Honestly, I think at this point she has genuinely moved on from the trauma of what Adam has done to her (not the feelings they inflicted, but the trauma of it), taking that pain to make herself stronger, but she is still struggling immensely with what Mercury and Emerald did to her. This is especially worse because I don't think she even realizes that there is a problem that needs to be addressed (Jinn, can we please have some more questions please? We need a therapy circle, stat).
There are a lot of different ways to process trauma. It all depends on the person and what works for them! For the trauma with Adam Yang has turned her pain and fear into vengeance and anger again. Awesome for her, she's moving forwards! Unfortunately, by not paying attention to the mental attacks she suffered she is using those same tactics against those without fully being aware. In volume five it was not quite as noticeable, a few moments here and there (shouting at Ruby and Weiss, losing her cool when asking about her mother being turned into a raven), but I especially noticed it in her character songs. Especially "Ignite".
Yang's songs have always been about self assuredness, fighting, and unwavering confidence. These were still there, and I loved it.
There was also a lot more... aggression. "I Burn" as well as "Armed and Ready" were about fighting and fighting back against an oppressive force. "Ignite" was a bit more brutal. Slowly but surely her actions are taking on more violent means. She has always been a fighter, so violence is par for the course, but the line in particular in "Ignite" that caught my attention was "Didn't mother warn you, now she's going to mourn you". Several other lines follow this thread and I can clearly see that her anger and bloodlust is on the rise.
Not necessarily a bad thing, when fighting enemies. Not a great thing when it is directed at the people closest to you as well.
I adore Yang, but I am growing increasingly worried about her more constant bouts of anger. They are valid reasons for anger, but she is losing the restraint she once had. My main case in point is when her, alongside Weiss and Blake, turned their weapons on Qrow.
Weiss and Blake I can understand. They don't know Qrow. All they know is that he is extremely loyal to Ozpin so of course they would be wary of him approaching Ruby when she stands against him.
Yang, however, knows better. She's known Qrow even longer than Ruby, and his actions were clearly pacifying. Standing between him and Ruby, sure. Letting him know you stand with her, even if he disagrees. Pointing her weapon at him, that's too much. That is a reaction without thought, which is becoming more common.
I also find Yang acting more and more like, well, a rebellious teenager. Teenagers go through a hormonal period where it is literally almost impossible to see things from a point of view different from their own, particularly when they are upset. Everyone has it at different times in their lives ranging from preteens to even their early twenties, but it is still a process of growth. It is very egocentric, very normal, and a very bad time for it.
Yang has no patience anymore. She is acting hypocritically more and more often. Being angry at Ozpin for hiding things is natural, and I expected it. But the amount of anger she held and self righteousness she showed was at odds with her own secrets regarding Raven. Protecting her mother is something I empathize with, but Raven is also a Maiden. If you're going to get mad at someone for hiding things about the fight you are in, you should be aware enough that you are doing the same. She is not; this the teenage egocentrism.
Even during Jinn's story about Ozpin's past, Yang's expressions were more often anger than anything else. And not really anger at anyone other that Ozpin. She can not break herself from her original thoughts that he can not be trusted, regardless of his reasons.
I am especially worried about her thoughts on her mother now. Because she did not trust a word her mother said, but as it turns out not everything she had said was a lie. This, almost scarily often, had the ever present thought of "what else was she right about". Now I am worried that her mind will make that emotional leap of distrusting Ozpin so much that she believed everything her mother said. She still is angry and hateful for the abondment but now there is a valid reason for it. Her mother abandoned her for a reason, and that reason is currently locked away inside a lost farmer boy.
Im hoping Weiss or Ruby is able to get through to her. I wish it could be Blake, but with the previous abandonment and Yang's feelings about it I don't think she will really be willing to listen to what Blake has to say while her emotions are still high. Ruby has a very special connection to her and has the best luck of making her step back, but I think Weiss has the best chance of making her reflect. Speaking from experience it is kind of hard to take when you get a younger sibling's criticism for you choices. It's both a matter of pride and a matter of you, being the oldest, are supposed to be taking care of them and showing them the best way. I hope it will be Ruby who makes her take a step back, Weiss who makes her reflect, and Blake who listens and supports thus bridging the gap between them and restoring that trusting relationship Yang desperately needs.
I love Yang. I hope she looks in and works to help herself soon, before she does something she will regret.

I think the writers, beyond being shit at what they do, simply forgot to keep track. Or they're lying. This is in response to the "They knew in Vol 1 that Atlas would fall yadda yadda yadda" post. The question here is now, did we know all the way back in Vol 1 that Atlas was a floating kingdom? I don't think we did? Clarify for me, por favor.
I don’t necessarily even believe they knew back then that Atlas would fall. The post was more of a “pretending this is true” scenario which I realize I did not make all that clear. I especially doubt the truth of the statement because RWBY didn’t even seem to know what it was trying to do back in volume one and only seemed to get its footing in volume 3. One of my many issues with the statement that I vaguely hinted at in that post is disbelief that the statement is even true given how the first volumes where all over the place in terms of what they where trying to do and what they where building up the big bad to even be. We know for example the maidens where conceived during volume 3, I imagine most things about Salem was created during that time as well so them knowing specifically Salem would walk by James and not even give him the time of day back then really timeline wise is extremely sus and feels like they’re lying.
I just don’t even get WHY the writers are lying about stuff like this. What’s the point? What does it give them? Why are they going out of their way to piss off James fans? What is the point besides being a class A asshole? I mean they could just have the timeline wrong, I mean they don’t have a RWBY bible (which is just insane for me to think about) so them not remembering when they came up with ideas wouldn’t be completely out their either since they can’t seem to remember a LOT of things like using Marrows semblance, Torchwick stealing all of the dust, Blake’s personality etc. it’s just....sad and painful thinking about how little it seems CRWBY cares about this show or it’s characters. They get done so dirty more often then not and I have to wonder how someone could do that to something they had some had in helping create. It’s honestly mind boggling to me.
