The concept behind Onehornla's one of a kind mermaidcore folio: 'SEA TAILS' In the shimmering expanse of the ocean, where sunlight danced on the waves and the depths held secrets untold, lived a radiant mermaid named Lirelle. With long, flowing tresses that mirrored the colors of the coral and eyes that held the wisdom of ancient waters, she was a creature of enchantment and grace.

One fateful day, as Lirelle glided through the underwater gardens, her melodious song drawing dolphins and fish to her side, a shadow fell over her. Startled, she looked up to find herself ensnared in a net woven by human hands. Panic gripped her heart, and her heartrending song filled the ocean, echoing like a plea for salvation.

Above the surface, aboard a weathered ship, stood Captain Aric. A sea-faring man with weathered features, he had heard tales of mermaids and their enchanting songs. Yet, nothing could have prepared him for the heart-stopping beauty of the mermaid before him.

As Lirelle's voice wove a spell around him, Aric's initial intentions faltered. He looked into her eyes and saw not a captive creature, but a soul brimming with wonder and longing. A storm of conflicting emotions raged within him – duty to his crew, his desire for adventure, and an unexpected tenderness that surged from the depths of his heart.

Aric couldn't deny the pull he felt towards Lirelle, a pull that defied reason and circumstance. He cut the net, freeing her from her temporary prison. Their eyes met, and in that fleeting moment, a connection formed that transcended their worlds.

With hesitant trust, Lirelle allowed herself to be guided by Aric to the ship's deck. The sea breeze tangled her hair, mingling with the scent of salt and adventure. Language barriers were meaningless; their souls communicated through a language only the heart comprehends.

Colorful Hair! Mermaid :) When I was combining these two I totally had in mind the most amazing Maxine Vee and her “Paint” mermaid! ❤️ but a little different take on it. (You should check out her works, she is amazing!! 🤩 🤗 ❤️) The second one is the one I painted first xD I changed the background and colors later to fit it better in my feed, because it turned out too dark. But I still liked the contrast do I decided to share it too. I noticed that I draw completely differently when I use clip studio and wacom lol. :) My iPad wasn’t charging properly so I couldn’t use procreate this time. "How would you react to a mermaid?"

Such is the question Peter Potamus is fond of asking at least once during such diver's vacations as he's fond of having over the campfire; the better to test the reaction sense of such invited to join him in the diving experience so extraordinarily ... Peter Potamus.

And such was bound to be the case this particular go-round with myself, the Hair Bear Bunch and Loopy De Loop as guests by the firepit at his Florida Keys cabin over iced tea and tortilla chips.

"If I may explain this little exercise in quick reaction as much as whimsy," Peter began, "many have often imagined the very unlikelihood of actually coming across a mermaid while diving out of nowhere--no, not the kind of Weeki Wachee, but the kind known to prevail in folklore. And mind you, Scooby-Doo and crew we're not; we're, rather, some intrepid diving friends of Peter Potamus who could just imagine the sheer thrill of encountering a mermaid during the dive, wondering what to do next in the circumstances!"

In Hair Bear's case, he acknowledged that while he and his ursine friends may not have encountered a mermaid to begin with, "it would likely depend on what she desires."

"Usually some romance," Square Bear was quick to add.

"The sexual sort, I have to assume," Hair Bear was quick to add.

Peter Potamus was quick to note that such a notion was actually born out of the outright boredom of sailors stuck on long voyages caught up in bad diets, scurvy, overdependence on rum and a want of female companionships for weeks on end.

Turning to "ze good wolf," Loopy De Loop was bound to point out that his desire in being among mermaids would entail just playing along, adding that he himself may have been caught up among mermaids in past and couldn't resist their charm and they his.

Myself ... I related about the time me and Crazy Claws were on a campaign to push Wisconsin Dells to southern audiences, and we were staying at a motel in Islamorada one night when the desire to do a sunset dive struck our fancy, only to have--you guessed it--a mermaid swimming into our modest dive and guide us through a coral reef in the moments just before sunset, sensing something almost magical in its irridescence. "And I never felt more fascinated, more light-headed even, getting to sleep in the bargain!" added yours truly.

"So, Peter," asked I when I finished relating my mermaidic tale, "what would be your mermaidic take here?"

"Plenty," responded he in his glory of starched safari jacket and pith helmet. "Though admittedly, I like asking this question in particular just to see what would be the likely reaction to a mermaid encounter, if such ever ensued ... and after all, mine would be to join her in wild mermaid romantic desire!"

Which certainly got the laughs started.

In a time when uncharted waters whispered secrets and the mysteries of the deep beckoned to daring souls, an intrepid explorer named Captain Julian embarked on a journey that would forever shape the course of history.

Captain Julian's passion was the ocean, its depths holding treasures yet unknown. With a heart fueled by curiosity, he navigated through tumultuous waves, his vessel carrying him to uncharted territories. Armed with nets and instruments, he collected marine specimens, documenting each discovery in meticulous detail.

As he delved into the heart of the unknown, Captain Julian's voyage led him to the fabled Mermaid's Cave, a place whispered about in sailors' tales and cherished by storytellers. Here, the ocean seemed to sing a different tune, and the air held an enchanting aura.

It was in the embrace of this cave that Captain Julian's journey took a remarkable turn. As he meticulously recorded his findings in a worn junk journal folio, his eyes beheld a sight that defied logic and reason – mermaids, graceful and otherworldly, their tails shimmering like moonlight on water.

His heart raced with a mixture of astonishment and reverence. The mermaids, guardians of the cave's secrets, regarded him with curiosity. With a sense of awe and reverence, Captain Julian observed their interactions, their melodies resonating with the ebb and flow of the tide.

As the words and sketches within the folio were deciphered, the tale of the Mermaid's Cove was resurrected, illuminating the pages of history with a forgotten chapter. The world marveled at the story of a man who dared to venture beyond the horizon and into the heart of enchantment.

And so, the lost chronicles of Captain Julian's mermaid encounter were brought back to life, a testament to the power of exploration, curiosity, and the enduring connection between humanity and the mysteries of the sea. Story by Onehornla
