Bro it’s literally 3am for me right now (I’m nocturnal, okay?!) and school is in 3.5 hours but I just finished this fanart that is basically a sequel to my “the little hobbits always sleep in a pile” drawing!!! (This one only took me 1HR 45MINS though)
This fanart is named “late night butterflies”
SORRY FOR THE INSANELY SMALL TEXT FOR THE DIALOGUE, I’LL PUT WHAT SAM AND PIP SAY BELOW ⬇️
Sam: “Hey, do you think Merry will be coming up here soon?”
Pippin: “No, not anytime soon. He said he’d be busy being a ‘cuddle bug’. You just wanna chat?”
Sam: “Sure. I’d like that.”
DIALOGUE ABOVE ⬆️
Of course, Pippin is smoking his pipe (I would have had Merry do that if he wasn’t passed out and busy being a cuddle bug 😚)!!!
That’s all, folks. Goodnight! 💤

Finally finished one of the pieces I’ve been working on for about 5 or so weeks. It’s painted on a chunk of wood with acrylic paint.

"Sharp-ears, Wise-nose, Swish-tail and Bumpkin, White-socks my little lad..."
No but THE most important lore is which hobbit rode which pony?
I nominate Sharp-ears for Sam, Wise-nose for Frodo, White-socks for Pippin, Swish-tail for Merry, and Bumpkin gets the baggage (and lots of pats and apples)

in all seriousness the last march of the ents & the whole ending of the two towers is like. truly in my top 5 cinema moments. it's about the love it's hope it's taking grief and not letting in drown you it's trust in other people like the last 15-30 minutes of the movie are what lord of the rings is all about return of the king is the conclusion of love and hope but the two towers is to have these even at the lowest, hardest point in the journey. this sequence is truly the best this franchise has to offer

"We hobbits ought to stick together- and we will."
Have I mentioned that I love the hobbits more than life itself? Because I do. ❤️
These designs are heavily inspired by @saltseashark's, which I'm absolutely in love with!

I think lotr would be greatly improved if the hobbits had to take turns getting piggyback rides from aragorn bcuz I know for sure if I was like 3 feet tall and had to go on an expedition I would be so fucking tired constantly.
Pip is the one clinging to Sam, who is still standing of his own accord, and Merry is the one who just sort of fell over and now refuses to move

How about the Fellowship reacting to their youngest member (and therefore basically their adopted younger sibling) is courting someone? I have a date tomorrow so I keep thinking about how the fellowship would react to seeing the reader smile uncontrollably when they talk about their partner and such. Thanks 🙏
Alrighty alrighty I see you 👀 it’s been a while, so sorry, but I hope the date went well! I can see this reaction going a few different ways depending on who we’re talking about, something akin to:
“Who is this person and how do you know them?”: Aragorn, Frodo
“So you’re getting married? When? When did this all happen?”: Sam, Merry, Pippin
“Tell me everything!”: Legolas, Boromir, Gimli
Where some might take the nature of his questions as suspicion, Aragorn’s words are plain and calm. “I was not aware of your courtship when you were welcomed in.” You assure him that you made your choice and made it well. “I know the feeling of having made a promise. Blessings in the path before you both,” he wishes you with a wise, carefully knowing smile. Frodo seems to have more concerns, worry and doubt swimming in his blue eyes. “So all this time you have been away from your promised one? Do you trust them? What do they know of your errands here?” He relaxes at the way you smile when you speak of the one you’ve found, but still is quite eager to meet them.
“We haven’t got a date for that, Sam,” you giggle, shaking your head, “technically we have yet to be engaged. Marriage, of course, would be nice.” “Wouldn’t it?” Sam sighs, leaning on his walking stick. “So, how’d you ask the lucky one, then?” “No wonder you’re always off smiling about something- you’ve got something to go home for,” Merry teases you. “Haven’t we all?” You shoot back with a cheeky look, arms crossed tight over your chest. “Mine is just a bit different than yours.” Pointing, the hobbit continues his barrage. “Ah, there we have that smile again! You’ll be wed in no time! Oh, I do so love a wedding, eh Pip?” “Oh, yes,” Pippin chimes in, “if we’re invited I’ll certainly be there. All the flowers and smiles and the great big cake! Oh, when are you getting married?” “I-” Head falling into your palm, you just hide your wide smile. “I do not know yet, but if it is in our power you will see it.” “Well, I can tell just by the look on your face how much you look forward to it,” Pippin replies, elbowing his cousin.
“I was unaware of your courtship,” Legolas admits, peering down at you with new eyes, “how long has it been fixed?” A smile creeps onto your lips- the elf’s words are spoken in what an outsider would hear as mild interest, but you know the woodland prince better than that. He is curious, and you are beyond happy to indulge. “I can start by telling you how we met,” you offer, grin widening. “Yes,” Legolas agrees, “I would like that.” “You never cease to surprises me,” Boromir teases, ruffling your hair, “tell me about this mysterious lover!” “Boromir,” you half-whine in response despite your smile, “I have no ‘mysterious lover’, I am being courted, simple as that.” “Well, make this person less mysterious, then,” the warrior of Gondor challenges, “share with me the wonder of their presence.” “You? Since when has this been, ye wee rascal?” Gimli’s eyes are like saucers when he finds out the company’s youngest is spoken for. “Quit your daydreaming and explain yourself!” Harsh as his phrasing is you cannot help laughing, knowing how the dwarf gets in his shock. Soon as you smile, too, a teasing laugh bursts forth, an encouraging heh heh heh that has your dam bursting as you share your story.

Hii! Congrats on 50 followers!!! 💜 for the prompts list thing, could you do like. Any of them with Pippin? also the forehead touch prompt is so cute please I can’t 😭
I don't often have ideas for Pippin, so this was a treat to write! Just for everyone to know, I'm not answering requests in order. This just happened to be the quickest one to write. Since I had my pick of prompts, I decided to do one I didn't think would get much attention. I hope you like it!

Burden - Peregrin Took
Tumblr media
Boromir had been your friend ever since he had helped you become a member of the King's—or the Steward's, you supposed—Guard. His perseverance paid off, as you were now one of the most capable guards and most loyal to him. You were honored to be asked to accompany him to the meeting in Rivendell.
That was where you first met the Hobbits. Your first impression was that, well, they were awfully small. You could tell that Boromir shared your concern for their safety. It was difficult to not view them as children, and you wondered how on earth you were going to keep the poor little lads safe when so many things threatened you all. So you resolved to do anything you could to keep them up on their strength and their fighting prowess.
You had an especially soft spot for Peregrin, or Pippin, as he called himself. He was the youngest of the group, and you couldn't help but be especially fond of him and his antics. Gandalf always rolled his eyes when you shot him looks for his poor treatment of the kid, but he always eased up afterward. You supposed that was part of the reason he kept quiet on this particular occasion.
The others, however, did not.
"It's unwise to expend your energy in such a way, mellon nin," Legolas pointed out as you once again readjusted Pippin as he rode on your back.
"Aye, he's right," Gimli agreed. "He's got his own legs, y'know."
"He's tired," you argued. "We've been sword training. Not to mention, his legs are much shorter than ours, you can't expect him to keep up without a little extra help."
"The others seem to be getting on just fine," Aragorn pointed out, but his smile betrayed his thoughts on the matter.
"Well, I'll carry the others as well, if they want," you said stubbornly.
"I'll carry two and you carry two," Boromir said, chuckling but clearly serious.
"That's alright," Frodo interjected.
"I wouldn't be opposed," Merry commented, and Sam bumped him with his elbow. "It's not necessary, though."
You thought it was strange how quiet Pip was on the matter. He was quite the chatterbox, most of the time. Perhaps he was just embarrassed.
"He's fallen asleep," Boromir leaned over to whisper to you, a smile clear in his voice.
"Aw," you cooed, now extra careful to avoid jostling him more than necessary.
"You cannae do that forever, lass," Gimli warned you.
"Ah, but each time I do, I get a little stronger, so perhaps one day I can," you suggested brightly.
"It's a good thing I've practiced for this," you said with glee, teeth chattering as the fellowship traversed the treacherous mountain pass. You and Boromir had stayed true to your word, and Aragorn had joined your little pact. You carried Pippin still, Aragorn carrying Sam and Frodo, one on each arm, and Boromir holding onto Merry.
"You can put me down as soon as you're able," Pippin said suddenly. "You must be getting tired, and I—I can make it on my own."
"Nonsense, little one," you said, the cold making it hard to hold a smile, however much you wanted to. "I could carry you to the ends of the earth under one arm."
"I just don't want to burden you."
You tilted your head down, finding a temporary respite from the wind by setting your forehead against his. "You could never burden me, Pippin.
"I'm just trying to help you do the great things I know you can do." You weren't quite sure what those things were yet, but if there was one thing you learned growing up, it was that a little encouragement never hurt anyone. "But if you want to walk by yourself, I'll set you down as soon as the snow is shallow enough. Unless you have the elven secret to floating atop it?"
Pippin laughed, his wind-bitten cheeks a frosty red. "Not yet, but I'll try to figure it out."

I'm weirdly surprised most people thought the ring should go to Sam were Frodo not to exist, I mean the poll was a joke mostly but still unexpected at least for me.
I've always felt the whole point of the frodosam duo was each did what the other couldnt, Sam did the physical heavy lifting, Frodo did the mental. Sam was extremely loyal to his master, while Frodo spent the whole book resisting subjection.
I definitely don't think we should discredit Sam, the hobbit carried (literally). But I think out of all hobbits he might have been the least suitable for ring-bearer (contending with Pipping, mostly bcs he's a child). I've always seen Sam as a 'support in his own right', meaning best suited to helping but through his own strength and judgement, not as a servant.
I was expecting merry to be the sensible choice (maybe not film merry). But as far as I remember he was most similar to Frodo, but then again, someone has to keep an eye on pipping. Give the ring to smeagol it makes him happy.

Modern AU LOTR where Frodo, Merry, and Pippin have their own MBMBAM-style advice show.
"Welcome to My Cousin, My Cousin, and Me; I'm your eldest cousin, Frodo Baggins"
"And I'm your middlest cousin, Merry 'Tall Boy' Brandybuck"
"And I'm your sweet baby cousin and 30 under 30 Middle Earth luminary, Pippin Took"
"It's really not fair that you were the only one under 30 when they were giving those out, Pip. Why couldn't they have come round a few decades earlier?"
There's a lot of Munch Squad because they're hobbits and they care a lot about food. Frodo does do them, and they are just as filled with weird characters as Justin's Munch Squad, but they're all much more obviously based on people they know. Frodo, as it turns out, can do a killer Legolas voice.
Pippin has a tendency to make up weird games and/or go off on weird tangents a la Travis, so Merry then takes Griffin's spot as the one getting increasingly more annoyed with him. Frodo just does Justin's weird little balloon-deflating laugh.
Guest-perts have included Bilbo, Gandalf, and Merry & Pippin's fathers. One time someone sends in a Wikihow article about gardening, so they bring on Sam as a Guest-pert, but it's like the most absurd advice ever, and while the cousins are all riffing on it, Sam spends the entire time getting more and more audibly offended. This is so entertaining to the audience that Sam continues appearing on the show, to the point that it's more like "My Cousin, My Cousin, and Me...and Sam"

Random idea I’ve had for a while now, among hobbits it’s tradition to offer a rose to your beloved instead of offering a ring to propose. And for like two years now I’ve had this idea where Sam planned to give Frodo a rose like right before the quest for the ring but then they had to go save the world and it got post-poned. But Merry and Pippin knew full well about the rose and kept dropping hints the entire trip. So they’ll have conversations like
Pippin: Y’know, it’s so nice that Aragorn didn’t turn out to be a thorn in our side.
Merry: Yes, Pip. He really rose to the occasion.
Pippin: He’s very Ernestella, don’t you think?
And Sam’s raring to clock them both on the back of the head while Frodo is just confused as to why they chose flower puns for their bit of the day

I have question!
So have you seen this tumblr post about Merry and Pippin's memory of Frodo beginning to fade as they get older after he leaves for Valinor? Okay, now you have.
So now in the Magnolia AU, what do you think their relationship would look like with Frodo choosing to stay in the Shire, in Middle Earth? How often do they see each other? Do they feel sort of distant from him, wanting to reach out and help him but knowing there's nothing they can really do for him, since they don't really know what he went through, not the way Sam does? I just- OUGH I get emotional about this either way 😭
Tumblr media
“Of course we did not get so far as they did, but we have heard the stories. We know something of what they saw. Merry helped to slay the Witch King, after all, and I…well, I…”
“And Pip met Sauron himself, in the Palantir. We’re not ignorant. Of course Sam was with him the whole way. That has well earned him his place as Frodo’s dearest friend. But after Sam, no one else in the Shire understands what he’s endured as well as we do. And we do what we can.”
“That’s right! We’ve our own business in Tuckborough and Buckland, after all, and we cannot go to Hobbiton as often as we’d like. But we know Frodo will be ill in October and March, and we put forward our best efforts then. And—and they do the same for us, when they can.”
“I—er. Well, it’s not…”
“Speak up, Mer, they can’t hear you.”
“I…I recall that last year, Sam came to visit Brandy Hall just before the anniversary of Pelennor, and he saw to it that Estella and Theo were cared for while I was ill. I feel I’ve yet to repay him that debt. That is what it’s like. We four Travellers, we look after one another.”
“Precisely. If Frodo is thin during his ill spells, it is not for the lack of food or drink in Bag End. I shall always see to that.”
“Perhaps our memories shall falter as we age. Such is the lot of old-timers. They have much to remember, and cannot keep it all in, sometimes. But we are not yet old, and we shan’t forget a friend. Not one for whom we have sacrificed so much.”
“That’s right! We love him dearly, don’t we, Mer?”
“That we do.”
