I forgot to post about the result of my recent Global Game Jam adventure, but here it is! Enjoy atmospheric soundtracks, damp caves full of oversized pottery, and dissociating with anxiety? Here’s the game for you.
Some scenes from Sapphire City Part 1, an adventure game set in the near future.
'Escaping a troubled past you have finally found some solace with a new life, in a new city. This comfort is shattered when a call from an old friend drags you back into a world that you had tried to leave behind. Amidst sinister corporate entities, dark conspiracies and clashing titans of industry, you find yourself centre stage in a plan of vengeance decades in the making.'
You've moved in to your new home in Bloomington - reunited with your bestie, Bailey - just in time for the event of the season: the Bloomington spring festival. According to Bailey, it's more fun to go with a date, but Bailey's dating game is... practically nonexistent. That's okay, though, because now you're on the case! You want to meet their friends anyway... it's a perfect opportunity to slip in a little romance on the side.
As Macy, you have seven days to get used to the town and find Bailey a date. People keep gifting you plants, there are cats in your backyard, and what is UP with that new donut shop?
The demo for FLORAL: The Blooming Cycle is now out! Check it out on itch.io!
By the way! I wrote a fun lil narrative TTRPG game called the Emperor's procession, where you stitch together the story of a fearsome and magical emperor journeying through their land - from the point of view of their citizens who are all like fairytale protagonists in their own right.
Please have a look and if it suits you, I hope you give it a try!

No, that is not an overlay, I really did use an old MiniDV camcorder from 2004 hooked up to an A/V capture card as my webcam. I had to rewind it whenever I got to the end of the tape.

Transcription: "Ta-da! In the flesh. But yeah, this notebook also has—I think it has my big braining theories... it does! It has my theories from my Umineko playthrough as well."

Transcription: "I think this was actually the first [sprite] that I inked. Yes, this was the first one that I inked. 'Cuz originally Amadeus's sprites were all just pencil—originally, everything was just pencil. And then what happened was I inked, I made the poster, and I inked the poster; and I inked that self-indulgent Fata Morgana-Castlevania-Amadeus crossover fanart; and then I remembered just how much I really actually love inking and I love how my art looks when it's inked. And I was like... [sigh] uuuuuuugghhh..... I need to ink some talksprites..."

Transcription: "Tada~! Do—do you want to know where it's located in my extremely well-organized notebook? The page before it is, uh, my doodles of how I envision the Higurashi characters with legs... because they don't have legs in the game."
