#one day I want to draw myself with them and I’ll be arguing with Pants and we each have a glass of wine and Wonderboy’s just there

i have a question that ive been thinking about for a while
Whats ur favorite pokemon?👀
I have several plushes so all of them get honorary talks. (So I have Squire the Cubone, Soup the Sobble, and Heelies the Helioptile. With Azula the Torchic, Whippet the Bulbasaur, and Red the charmander in storage.)
If you were fighting me as a gym leader though I’d be one of those asshole gym leaders who makes you do a double battle with Pants the Slowking and Wonderboy the Rhydon so I can check out your Pokémon teamwork dynamics. (I LOVE Rhydon and Slowking. But that’s because these are the two I raised together in my Go team.)
I used to have a whole six slot team planned out for if you wanted to get a badge off me, so you’d have to use all your own six team slots, and my Pokémon tend to be tricky things that cover one another’s gaps and weaknesses. (I know my second tier involved Nanii, my Sceptile. Who’s named for @naniiebim —the person who created my icons here and on discord.)
Let’s see…
I LOVE Wobbuffet and Makuhita.
My favorite legendary hands down is Raikou because Raikou is freaking chill as shit. (Oh, you’re an ex team rocket member who’s an electric trainer? I choose you to wield my power. And if it changes you for the better then I’m going to pretend not to notice. Oh, there’s a salon maiden who’s also a trainer? Free hair care and nails done? Yeah I’m good with this. SO. CHILL.) but also because it’s the first legendary I ever caught in Go. (Not for lack of trying.)
And I caught mine RIGHT after hurricane Irma.
(My Raikou is still named Irma. And I have a Raikou pin I sometimes wear at work with a little Wizard!Kakashi next to it.)
I bond with my pixels in a normal way. I am very normal. 😐
I haven’t done anything for the later generations because I don’t have a switch. It’ll trickle into Journeys or into Go and I’ll develop favorites then.
You uh. Might have to narrow down by type and watch me explode about my favorite ones in Go. ^^;;;;

Wanted: Day Three
Word count: 5764
“You keep talking like that and you’ll lose the privilege.”
“You’re awfully threatening for a man who never follows through with them.”
You and Arthur had started the day bright and early with a shouting match over the fact that you had barely gotten any sleep, the colder weather and his hack job of a tie down keeping you from it. You had tried and failed for most of the night to pull free, and now your arms ached nearly as badly as the rest of you.
“Said you’d kill me and you didn’t,” you spat. “Twice. Now you’re threatening to, what, gag me? Keep me quiet? But you won’t. I reckon you got the least nerve out of any bounty hunter I know.”
He was trying hard to keep you from getting under his skin, but this seemed to cross a line. He stood and approached you where you still sat, bound and livid.
“You want me to hurt you?”
His words were low and quiet, intimidating in a way you had never felt from him. You took a breath. “I want you to quit mouthing off and untie me.”
“Oh, I ain’t thought of that. Sure, why don’t I just let you run off back to New Austin while I’m at it?”
You gritted your teeth. “From the ground, you bastard.”
He scoffed, the sound somewhere between a laugh and a dismissal. “Why should I? You ain’t been nothing but a pain in the ass since I ran you out of that basin.”
You didn’t have a good argument for this other than that your back was killing you and you had to relieve yourself. You looked to the lake and had an idea.
“Because I…need a wash.”
He did laugh this time. “You want me to go find a tub while I’m at it, draw you a bath? I ain’t your caretaker. You can sit there and rot for three days for all I care.”
“Please.” You tried your hardest to be sincere in the word.
He regarded your for all of a heartbeat before that snide smile overtook his face. “How’s that taste?”
“Please. I need to relieve myself, and I feel like my muscles are about to snap any second.”
“What did I just say? You’ll have to deal with it. Besides, I ain’t falling for that crap.”
“It’s not crap,” you said, your anger surprising you. You hadn’t felt it take over like this in years.
He nodded, holding your eye as he kept that infuriating smile plastered on his face. “Sure.”
You didn’t have it in you to answer him. To take that bait only for him to deny you again. So you sat instead, taking a long breath and looking out at the lake. The water was probably freezing anyway. And while it would be good means for escape, it would also be good means to get shot. Or drown.
“You know what?” he asked, following your gaze and looking out over the water. “That ain’t such a bad idea. I reckon I’ll have a wash myself.”
You shot him a nasty look, the man radiating pure smugness as he reached for his boot. You watched, unbelieving you had been caught by such an ignorant, arrogant bastard of a man. He stripped his boots, his gear, his coat. All in clear view of you, all while knowing just how much it got under your skin to do so. He took his shirt and pants off too, left in only a union suit that he started to unbutton when he caught your eye.
You realized you’d been watching his hands unbutton the thin fabric and snapped your gaze to his face instead, pure hatred spilling from you.
“It’s okay to look,” he teased. “Probably the most entertainment you’ll get out this way.”
“You’re so full of yourself. It’s embarrassing.”
“Oh, I ain’t got nothing to be embarrassed about sweetheart,” he said as he pulled the union suit from his shoulders. You were about to call him on the nickname until you saw those damned arms of his, how broad-chested he was. He was sculpted in muscle, beautiful bodied, and it only made you madder. It would be so much easier to stand this, to laugh in his face, if he was ugly and marred under all that clothing. But now you could only grit your teeth and look away as he pulled his remaining clothing off.
“Have it your way,” he said on a laugh, the sound of him wading into the water soon reaching you. You knew the lake was as cold as you had guessed when he winced and slowed his progress, his steps further and further apart. After long enough, you finally heard splashing and turned to see him working the lake water over his shoulders, washing the grit from his skin. You let out an annoyed huff of breath and turned away, shifting your body so that your back was to him, trying to swallow your anger and come up with a better plan than this.
For the first time in your life, you were drawing a blank on what to do. Most bounty hunters weren’t as smart, weren’t as stubborn, and didn’t have the resources to keep you tied up so well for so long. You needed to get free if you were going to best this man, and he wasn’t budging on that subject. The only outlet you had was convincing him that his gang members were right and he was wrong for capturing you. But even with that, he seemed to bury his head in the sand and ignore what was right in front of him. Maybe if you made him feel guilty over it, you could get through to him better. Even if it meant giving up in a sense. You decided that was the only way and that you would have to risk the dangers of the lake. As far as strategy went, it was your best option. You just prayed luck would turn in your favor once more, lest you wind up with a hole in your head courtesy of the man at your back.
After a short while, you heard Arthur walk out of the lake and toward you to dress.
“Water’s nice. You should try it.”
You turned and shot him a nasty look only to see that he had barely gotten his union suit back over his hips. What little fabric covered him didn’t leave much to the imagination. And he was annoyingly well endowed. Damn him.
“Careful. You let that mouth of yours go any slacker, you’ll start catching flies.”
You clamped your mouth shut and composed yourself, trying hard to focus on your plan and keep from arguing with him. That was all he wanted. He wanted you to ease his guilt. He wanted you to be defiant enough to make him think he was doing the right thing. No longer.
You let out a long sigh, giving him a minute so that you were sure he was somewhat dressed when you turned to him.
“Why didn’t you kill me? Back in Blackwater?”
His face set with a flat look you couldn’t figure a meaning for. He took a moment to answer, halfway through buttoning his shirt when he spoke. “I considered it.”
“Why didn’t you?”
“I only kill people I see as threats.” You thought back to the only time he had shot at you—after you had nearly escaped him back in that canyon.
“So I wasn’t threatening enough for you?”
He smirked. “Threatening, no. Annoying as all hell maybe. But you were hopping away unarmed, still bound up in all that rope, knowing you wouldn’t get anywhere. Why would I kill you when I could catch you just as quick and save myself the bother?”
“Because you said you would.”
This seemed to have the effect you wanted, as he finished with his shirt before responding, frowning all the while. “You wanted me to kill you then? That’s why you did it?”
“No.” The truth was, you hadn’t been thinking at all at the time. He had been marching you straight to your death, and your panic had set in so deep you did the only thing you could do, no matter how futile. You debated keeping this to yourself then remembered what you had to do to get through to him. “You ever…been so scared you would die you’d do anything to get out of it?” You met his eye, and by the way his gaze faltered, you knew you’d hit your mark.
You didn’t expect him to answer, but his voice rose quietly. “Sure.”
You chose your next words carefully. “I had to try. I…want to live.”
To your disappointment, that goddamn smirk overtook his face. “Should have thought of that before you killed all those people. And blew up someone meaner than you, that was your worst mistake.”
You wanted to argue that he wasn’t meaner than you or he would have killed you already. If your roles were reversed, you certainly would have killed him by now. Him and that smart mouth. But you didn’t say this, taking a different course.
“You think I killed those people for fun? I been running for nigh on two years now, all because a well-respected family tried to pin something on me I didn’t do, destroyed my good name, and told everyone around to shoot me on sight. Only I wouldn’t go down so easy. I spent an entire year trying to clear my name, to no avail, and ever since they’ve sent one bounty hunter after another after me. That’s what raised my bounty so high. They just want me silenced now, want me to go away.”
To your surprise, Arthur’s eyebrows raised slightly. “Seems you and me got that in common.”
He held your eye a heartbeat too long. It took everything in you not to smile in triumph, to hold his gaze with a hard look of your own instead. You were finally getting somewhere.
“Anyway,” he said, waving the moment away like it was nothing. He picked up his gun belt and fastened it, brought his satchel around him. “I’m gonna go find something to eat. Don’t wait up.”
You scoffed, feeling your shoulders slump on their own accord.
Arthur made for his horse and pulled a gun out of his scabbard that you recognized. “Hey!”
He turned to you with a grin. “What, you like it?” He was holding your rifle in his hands, the tic marks you had carved into its side plain as day from where you sat. “I usually don’t take a man’s gun until after he’s dead, but I like this one too much to wait that long.”
You hated him then. More than anything. You despised him for the way he talked about handing you over to your own death like it was nothing. You vowed then and there if you got free, you would kill him. Brutally.
You didn’t give Arthur the satisfaction of some lightweight insult and instead stayed quiet as he retreated into the nearby woods with a grim laugh, your eyes following him all the while. When he was out of your line of sight, you tried again to free yourself. This time, you sawed the ropes at your wrists against the one tied to the stake, back and forth, hoping they would tear themselves apart with the friction. After what had to be five minutes of doing this, you gave up. He had tied you up so tightly there wasn’t room enough to move the ropes against each other properly. You stilled and decided to save your energy. You would need it if your last resort came to fruition.
Not long after, Arthur approached from the bank to your left with a beaver hanging over his shoulder. You knew your rifle was too powerful for such an animal but kept your mouth firmly shut about it.
“Soup’s on,” he said, throwing the beaver at your feet. He returned your gun to his saddle then proceeded to skin the animal, setting some of the meat to cook above the fire. Your mouth watered at the sound of it sizzling. But again, you didn’t say anything as he worked. And you remained quiet until finally, he shocked you by walking to your back and cutting clean through the rope at your hands.
“Since you seemed to remember your manners,” he taunted, circling you. “Plus, I ain’t feeding you again. You can get it yourself. Oh, and you try anything, and I put a bullet through you. That ain’t a threat, it’s a promise. You clear on that?”
You nodded, rubbing the skin at your wrists, bending forward so your back got a break from sitting straight so long. You ate your fill and savored every bite, not having had anything as good for days. You considered escape all the while. If you found a way to incapacitate Arthur long enough, you could cut through the rope at your feet with the knife at his hip. You would kill him with it too. You had to now—it was an urge not only formed from hatred but from knowing he would pursue you to the ends of the earth if you didn’t. You wondered whether his precious gang would come after you for killing one of their own. They certainly seemed close enough to hold that sort of a grudge. You shook the thought away when Arthur tossed you a canteen, like he would pull the words right from your mind if you didn’t stop thinking about them. You looked to him in question.
“I won’t offer again,” he said, nodding to the canteen. You hadn’t seen him drink from it and were somewhat suspicious of it but raised it to your lips anyway. If he wanted to poison you after all this time, he was an even bigger fool than you thought.
When the water hit your tongue, you nearly moaned. It was the only thing you had had to quench your thirst besides Charles’ kindness back in that camp, and your mouth was dry as a bone because of it. You chugged it down, nearly draining the whole thing before Arthur said, “Easy,” and came and snatched the canteen out of your hands. You shot him daggers for it but again didn’t speak. He chuckled. “Don’t take much to make a person compliant, you know.” He walked around the fire to face you, his hand resting on the gun at his hip as he drank. “For some, it’s water. Or food. But for you, it seems to be hope.” Your gaze narrowed. “I control your hope, I control you. Whatever’s left of it.”
He wasn’t wrong. And it scared you he had read you so well. It wasn’t hard to guess at, but if he knew you still had some kind of hope left, then he knew you were still planning to get out of this. And that lowered your chances of doing so significantly.
“Tell you what,” he said, taking his gun out of its holster and tossing the canteen to his feet, the thing giving an empty clunking sound when it hit the dirt. “I’ve decided to be kind today. I can at least give you one last good day.” He made sure his gun was loaded, spinning the cylinder and clicking it back into place. “We can play a little game of sorts while we’re at it.” He leveled you with a satisfied smirk, waiting for you to ask him about his grand idea.
You sighed in annoyance. “What game?”
“I’ll let you go for a swim if you want. But the second you go under, I start shooting. And I gotta warn you, I don’t miss.” His smirk had turned into a flash of teeth, his grin making you madder than the game he proposed. There went your last chance at escape. You were a strong swimmer and may have still stood a chance, but was that something you wanted to risk? “What do you say?”
Your eyes met his and you nodded. “Sure. But no games. I just want a wash, that’s it.”
He shrugged. “Have it your way. But I would have preferred the challenge.”
You rolled your eyes and put your hands on the ground, pushing yourself up. You looked to him, expecting him to cut the rope at your feet. He just nodded toward the lake, neglecting to do anything of the sort. You refrained from saying the cutting words on your tongue and shuffled your feet, making slow progress toward the lakeshore. To your annoyance, Arthur followed. Once you got to the water and debated whether to shed any of your clothes or not, he rounded you.
“I ain’t taking no chances with you,” he said, making a show of holstering his gun but leaving it visible. He then reached for the lapels of your coat.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” you said, leaning back.
He met your eyes, and instead of anger, you found a knowing satisfaction lingering in his gaze. “You want to freeze to death when night falls because you were too stubborn to shed your clothes?”
“It ain’t about the clothes,” you snapped. “It’s about you taking them off.”
He smiled then. “Well in that case, I’m definitely doing it.”
He reached for you once more and you smacked his hand away. For the life of you, you couldn’t understand why that made his smile grow wider. Quicker than you could stop him, he moved to your back and trapped your arms against your sides by wrapping his own around you. “I’ll tie you up again and let you drown out there, mark my words.” When you relaxed enough to show that, as much as you hated him for it, you would let him get this over with so that you could keep your hands free and get in the lake already, he slowly released you. “Good girl,” he purred in your ear. You debated rounding and punching him straight in the nose for it. But you held your temper down for the hundredth time and let him be.
He brought his hands to your coat, slowly pulling it away, and something about the feeling made you snap. You could barely shift your weight to do something about it before he had his hand around your throat and trapped you against his chest, speaking lowly in your ear. “Behave.”
You hated yourself for it, but you fought off a shiver at the word. Something about his voice, the demanding way he said it, the feel of his strong chest at your back…you didn’t want to admit what it did to you. Didn’t even want to think about it. You stood stock still and let the feeling pass instead, waiting for him to let go of you. He reluctantly did so and went back to undressing you without a word—something you thought was odd, considering it was the perfect moment to say something stupid like he normally did. But you didn’t linger on that thought for long, as the feeling of needing to get out from under his hands took hold once more. You fought it and let him be, solely for the fact that you needed to get in the lake and make up your mind about whether or not to run.
Arthur pulled your coat from your arms, rounded you and unbuttoned your shirt. He untucked it, meeting your eye with an annoying smugness when the action pulled your hips toward him.
“Can you move quicker than this?” you snapped.
“Am I bothering you?”
“Always,” you said under your breath, but he caught it.
“You better think about being kinder to me. I don’t have to allow any of this, you know.”
“Oh how terrible it must be,” you said flatly. “To have to submit yourself to undressing a woman. I’m just putting you out, aren’t I?”
“Really, you are. I’m being awful lenient toward someone I plan on seeing swing in a few days.”
At the mention of that, you clamped your mouth shut once more. Your anger got the better of you, and you decided then and there to wait for a better opportunity to escape so that you could take him down in the process. You considered slapping him silly too, but you needed to keep your hands free. You fought down the urge.
Arthur chuckled as he unsheathed his knife, waving it at you. “You try anything, and I gut you.”
You looked away from him, toward the lake instead as he crouched and cut the rope at your feet. The need to kick him in the face was so hard to tamp down on that you clenched your fists to have something to do with all that restless energy. Arthur moved to the buttons on your pants before pulling them down your legs slowly, purposely trying to get a rise out of you. It took everything in you not to give in, in violence or in words.
He finally stepped away and looked at you with a surprising amount of anger. You didn’t know what that look was for but didn’t care.
“You do the rest,” he said, pulling his gun out again.
You understood then—he wasn’t going to pull your boots off your feet like some groveling maid. That would be bordering on selfless, something that was beneath him. You rolled your eyes and took your boots off, leaving behind nothing but your chemise and a jittery anticipation for the cold bite of the water.
~
He should not have done this. He had made a grave mistake. Arthur was already warring with himself over whether or not you deserved to live, and this only made things ten times worse. He had been letting you swim over his own indecision, then undressing you to get under your skin, but it had had the opposite effect. He had pulled you into him earlier meaning to threaten you but found that he couldn’t get the words out, the only thing coming to him a demand to behave while trying desperately to hide what his voice was betraying. And now, he could barely get your clothes off of you before needing to step away, making you finish the job because he couldn’t take his mind off of his hands on your body. What the hell was wrong with him?
He circled back around to the fire, needing to clear his head and get his eyes off of you for a moment. It was a ridiculously foolish thing to do considering he had cut you loose, but he couldn’t help it. He would do something much more foolish if he didn’t.
He walked to the far side of the fire so that he faced the lake but didn’t look up as he heard you begin to wade into the water. Why was he acting this way? He knew he couldn’t let go of the disagreements of the gang concerning you, but it was more than that. It was the thought that after all you had told him about your past, you weren’t much different than him. In fact, you probably deserved a killing even less than he did. You would have fit right in with his gang except that you probably wouldn’t have even agreed to that, being too righteous to do such a thing. So not only were you innocent and scorned, but he was holding a good person hostage, playing right into the hand of the very people he had been brought up to hate. Where did that leave him?
He knew the obvious answer was to let you go, and he was seriously considering it. But all his pitiful attempts at riling you—not to mention the harsh way he had treated you the past few days—would be enough to anger anyone to violence. Especially someone as deadly as you. So if he did let you go, would you try to kill him for it? He wouldn’t hesitate to defend himself if you did and would be willing to bet you’d wind up dead at his hand. Then he would feel even more guilt over going after you at all. Maybe he could threaten you into leaving, acting angry enough for you to think you got off easy and take the rare opportunity. In fact, that was beginning to look like his best option when Arthur heard a splash of water loud enough to make him snap to attention.
Instead of trying to escape, you were doing just as he said to do—standing belly deep in the water and washing, nothing more. What’s worse, you had stripped your chemise off too, and he watched your bare back a moment too long before looking away in shame. He couldn’t tell if his sudden attraction to you was formed from guilt or from the realization that you weren’t much different from any of the women he ran with. You were better, actually. And he stamped down on that thought quickly, so as not to cloud his judgement further.
He let you stay in the water as long as you wanted, looking up occasionally to make sure you hadn’t tried to run, not knowing what he would do if you did. He finally decided he would make his decision about what to do with you tomorrow, trying his best to keep up the same threatening act he’d used on you so far to keep you from noticing he was at war with himself over it. That made him calm some, and he took a long breath and vowed to make the rest of the day a boring, eventless one so that he wouldn’t have to think about the mistakes he had made concerning you for another second.
Arthur soon realized he had a problem—you were naked, and you would have to walk back out of that lake straight at him. He knew in order for you not to notice anything was amiss, he had to act smug about it. He had to look you over with a grin and pretend like his heart wasn’t racing when he did. He hoped with all his might that he could do so convincingly. He didn’t have it in him to argue if you called his bluff. Not with all the guilt flooding him.
Soon enough, he did exactly as he should have, sporting a lazy grin when you began walking out of the water. He never took his eyes off of you, partially to convince you, mainly because he couldn’t. You were such a sight that his breath caught. He wished then he had never let you get in that lake—he wouldn’t be able to erase the memory of you all bare for the rest of his days.
He cleared his throat before speaking to make sure his voice didn’t shoot too low. “You gonna tie yourself back up for me or make me do it?”
You shot him a nasty look, beginning to redress. He watched your every movement as you did, gripping the gun still in his hand so tightly it hurt.
“I…thanks, I guess,” you said softly, but he didn’t miss the hatred in your voice.
Once you had your chemise back on and he could breathe properly, he spoke. “I didn’t know any better, and I’d think you’re trying to butter me up.” He stepped around the fire toward you. “To appeal to my…better nature.”
“I know better than that,” you spat. “You don’t have one of those.”
He chuckled. “Maybe not.” There was more truth to that statement than you could ever know.
Once you were fully dressed, you glared at him and stood stock still, leaving the cut up ropes at your feet. He got the message and kept his gun at his side as he approached, making you eye the weapon. Little did you know, he didn’t have it in him to hurt you with it. Not anymore.
He fished more rope out of his satchel and stepped behind you, tying your hands first. He was shocked you let him do it without a fight and was reminded of your silence when he had taken you from camp. Like you wanted him to do it, like you had bigger plans of your own. He had the feeling you were constantly weighing his every move, deciding what would benefit you best in an attempt to escape. He was thinking again that you were smarter than he cared for when he finished with the ropes and stepped away. You hobbled over and sat by the fire without a word, refusing to look at him. That was all right by him—he didn’t have to think about you quite so much if you weren’t nagging him like you usually did.
The rest of the day passed achingly slowly, and Arthur debated tying you to something and getting away for a while. He didn’t though, not wanting to risk you escaping and sneaking up on him. If it weren’t for the threat you posed, he would have gladly done it and prayed you were gone when he returned, nothing but a pile of empty ropes. It would certainly be easier on him.
He fed you again in the afternoon, warring with himself over doing so. You had eyed him with suspicion, and he knew it was only a matter of time before you called him out on treating you with such mercy. To keep you from doing just that, he tied you to a nearby tree when darkness fell, retreating to his tent without a word as you spat insult after insult at him for leaving you out in the cold. It was noticeably colder than the night before, and he figured it would send the message that nothing was amiss better than anything. You had a coat besides. You would be fine until he figured out what to do with you when morning came.
Arthur drifted off in the early evening and was awoken hours later by wind so strong it made the trees shake around him. He stuck his head out of the tent to see you sitting where he left you, still awake.
“It’ll rain soon,” you shouted over the roar of the wind. “Gonna make me sleep out here in it?”
It was all he could do not to answer you, or worse, to give in. He gritted his teeth and cursed himself as he closed his tent once more, inside and away from the weather, knowing he was damning himself every second he ignored you. So be it. He still had hours until he needed to make a decision.
~
The bastard had shut you out. You felt the first few raindrops fall cold and thick, their impact with your skin making you shiver. One slid down your back and made you pull at your ropes to change positions, not wanting to feel that iciness again. Then, like that had only been a taste, the heavens seemed to open up, the giant maw of the sky pouring freezing rain down so thick you started to shake uncontrollably. You reined in your tears, knowing how unhelpful that would be.
To your complete surprise, not even a minute had passed when you saw a flash of canvas—Arthur had stepped out of his tent and was marching toward you. Without a word, he rounded the tree and cut you away from it, not untying you but picking you up in his arms. He carried you to his tent, your mouth shut in total shock at his act. It was possible he only did it to keep you from freezing to death, but you couldn’t deny it seemed somewhat caring.
He ducked in and set you on the far left, leaving you tied as he laid down against the opposite wall, turning his back to you. That wasn’t very smart of him, but you were thankful besides. The tent wasn’t exactly warm, and water still dripped in in some places, but it was much better than sitting outside in the rain. The constant downpour was so loud it was even a bit relaxing now. You debated thanking him but didn’t, thinking that may be pushing your luck. You did, however, turn to look at the gun belt he wore. His blade and gun were missing, probably on his other side. You cursed your lot and turned back over, mad at him all over again. It didn’t make any sense. Why was he taking such care to keep you alive only to have you killed in three days time? Why was he suddenly setting you free to wash, feeding you, letting you sleep in his tent? The answer to that hit you like a train—all this wordless kindness started when you had taken your clothes off. There was only one logical explanation for that: this man wanted you. He was lying as far away as he could so as not to touch your rain-soaked body. He probably hated himself for it too, telling himself this would all be over soon, that the temptation would pass when he turned you in. But still, there was enough feeling there for him to drag you in here in the first place. That, you could work with.
You fumbled with your tied feet and got them under you enough to turn over, facing him. You scooted closer until you touched him, your body lined against his, making him flinch.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“I’m freezing. You’re warm.”
“Get off of me before I throw you back outside. You’re wet.”
You nuzzled into him tighter, curling into his back, wondering if you could make him give in.
“Quit,” he snarled, sitting up. He shoved you away and took the bedroll out from under you, throwing it over you before laying back down with his back turned once more. Again, caring. But not enough to free you, not enough to convince him that what he was doing was wrong.
You evaded sleep and came up with a better plan, knowing you had hours to enact such a thing and the perfect setup—close quarters. You smiled. You would have him cutting through your bounds in no time.

warning: swearing, arguing, Dan grows insecure after their last conversation
AN: This is a long one folks. And I'm drawing lines directly from the original Night Court too. Dan's little speech will be from season 2 episode 19. Enjoy!

Abbie texted us the next day asking if we could come in early. Dan had been quiet since we got up and I grew nervous as I entered the bathroom. Steam flowed out of the shower when I opened the door. Standing behind Dan, I wrapped my arms around him. Pressing my cheek to his back, I sighed contentedly.
“You alright?” I asked quietly. Dan stiffened and tried to pull away but he had nowhere to go. “Dan?”
“I’m fine.” He finally pulled away and got out of the shower. I stood there watching as he wrapped a towel around his waist and left the room. The water beat down on me as I stood there in shock. Showering quicker than I ever had in my life, I ran out after him.
“Dan?” I asked hesitantly as I watched him get dressed. He didn’t even look at me.
“If you want a ride you better get ready. Otherwise you’ll have to take the bus.” He walked out of the room as he did his tie. I stood frozen in shock before my phone went off with a text from Abbie. I checked it quickly and got dressed. Dan was waiting by the door with his keys when I emerged from his room.
“Dan please.” I pleaded, my chest tightening as he still refused to look at me. “What’s wrong?” He opened the door and started down the hall. Groaning, I followed him and awkwardly got into the car. I played with my phone as he drove, subtly sending a text to gurgs that I needed to talk with her and Abbie as soon as possible. Sighing, I looked out the window and saw we were a block from the courthouse. I decided to try one last time. “What is going on Dan? Why aren’t you talking to me? What did I do?”
“Just shut up about it will you?” Dan snapped. I jolted at his outburst. I stared at him wide eyed and whatever was holding him back snapped. “You want to know what you did? You got me thinking! About all this. Us.” I tensed up in my seat. “All that talk of kinks and now…” Dan ran a hand through his hair after he parked. “I just need time to think (Y/N). You said I could have that. Let me have that.” I stared at him in shock. Dan looked over at me for the first time today. “Maybe…” he sighed and hung his head before looking pleadingly at me. “Maybe we should take some time apart. Just until I figure this out.” The tears Id been holding back finally spilled. Wiping them frantically, I nodded.
“I understand you need time. I….I just…at least…” Dan shook his head and I shut up.
“It’s nothing against you. But you opened this box. And…” Dan sighed again. “And I need to go through it.”
“Just…” I bit back a sob and nodded to keep myself together. “Just come back to me when you finish. One way or the other.” Dan nodded and I paused. Grabbing my bag, I leaned over and kissed his cheek before getting out of the car. Not looking back, I wiped my tears again as I walked into the building. Once I was past security, I rushed to abbies chambers. Knocking on the door, I sniffled. I tightened my grip on the shoulder strap of my bag and knocked again. Abbie opened the door and looked at me in surprise.
“(Y/N)? What’s wrong?” She asked, quickly hugging me. I took a step forward into her chambers and broke down. “Ok. It’s ok. I’ll text gurgs. It’ll be ok.” I shook my head as she closed the door and sat down next to me on her couch.
“No it won’t.” I looked over at her, hands clasped tightly together. “I opened a Pandora’s box and lost Dan. It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.” I wrapped my arms around myself tightly and tried to hold it together. Gurgs came into the room and instantly wrapped me up in a hug.
“It’s alright. We’re here (Y/N). We’re here.” She soothed as I sobbed. Her grip on me tightened and I started to pant as my sobs grew stronger. Abbie leaned over and hugged me too. They let me cry myself out and held me tightly as I started to come down.
“Do you know what happened?” Abbie whispered to gurgs. She nodded.
“Dan came in and looked like someone killed his family pet. I figured if he was that bad something had happened and (Y/N) would be worse.” Gurgs whispered back. She rubbed my back as I sniffled.
“(Y/N) said something about opening a Pandora’s box and losing Dan.” Abbie caught gurgs’ eye and sighed, resting her head against my shoulder. Tears still streamed down but I sat up, wiping the back of my hand across my cheeks. Tugging the sleeves of my shirt down, I took a shuddering breath as I realized it was dans shirt.
“We were talking last night. About things we liked and didn’t like.” I waved a hand vaguely and gurgs nodded. “And I told him to take some time to think things over. Things that I told him about and things that he wanted to try. We went to sleep and everything was fine.” I ran my hands through my hair and tugged.
“But something happened.” Abbie thought out loud. I nodded.
“I got up this morning and Dan was in the shower. So I got in with him.” I flushed, knowing I was probably sharing a bit too much but not knowing where else to take this. “He pulled away. Emotionally and physically. We drove here together and in the parking lot he…” I trailed off and tugged my hair again. “He told me he needed time to think. That I had opened this box and he needed to sort through it. And I think I know what about.” I ran my hands down my face and felt another wave of tears threaten me.
“Something you said last night?” Gurgs asked. I nodded.
“I told him he was a bit submissive. And explained what it was.” I sighed out, fresh tears spilling down my cheeks. “He got a little defensive. saying that I shouldn’t have to do anything a dominant would do since it’s his job as the man.” Hanging my head, I tugged my hair again and let out a shaky breath at the feeling. As much as it centered me, it also reminded me why I was in this mess.
“oh.” The two said as they shared a look. My shoulders shook as I tried to calm myself.
“(Y/N), take the night off. I’ll ask Neil to drive you home.” Abbie squeezed my shoulder. “Come back when you are ready.” Sitting up, I nodded. Gathering my things, I got up to go search out Neil. Gurgs was already tapping away on her phone.
“He’ll be here in a minute.” Standing facing the door, i steeled myself in case I had to pass Dan. “And (Y/N)?” I turned to look at gurgs. “Text us if you need anything. And I mean anything.” I nodded and turned back to the door as it opened.
“I heard someone needs a ride?” Neil asked, a sad smile directed at me. I nodded and took his outstretched hand. He squeezed it and walked with me back out to the parking lot. “Don’t look.” Neil whispered as we passed the cafe. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Dan watch us walk by. “Gurgs gave me the basics. I’m sorry.” Ducking my head, I gave him a slight nod.
“I am too.” I whispered. I held tight to the hem of the sleeves of the shirt. “Wish I could go back and fix all this.” Neil squeezed my hand again and led me to his car.
“He’ll come around.” I hummed in response and got into the car. “(Y/N), I’m serious. It’s Dan. Everything will work out.” I stared out the window as we made our way through traffic.
“I’m not so sure about that anymore Neil.” I sighed as he pulled up in front of my building. “I fucked this up. Big time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he never wanted to talk to me again.” Neil shook his head.
“I’ve known Dan a little longer than you have. (Y/N), Dan loves you. He won’t leave you. Not for long.” Smiling at me, Neil squeezed my arm. “You two will find your way to each other again.” Smiling softly at him, I ducked my head and got out of the car.
“Thanks Neil.” I said and closed the door. Heading into the building, I wrapped my arms around myself. Once I was in my apartment, I changed into a pair of pajama pants. I settled into my bed and let myself drift off. Thoughts ran through my head but I didn’t pay them much mind. Memories played out and more tears made my vision swim.
“I’m sorry Dan.” I murmured as I curled around my pillow. When I woke up the next day, abbie had texted me to let me know that Dan had talked to her and asked a few questions. I didn’t respond to her and set myself up in front of the tv. It became my routine for the next few days as I ignored all texts and calls from everyone. My phone stayed face down on my nightstand.
The only call I answered was from my parents. I hadn’t told them about Dan but they could tell that something had happened.
“Do I need to come kick someone’s ass?” My dad asked. I smiled softly as I scrolled through social media on my computer.
“No. Nothing like that.” I said. “It was my mistake. I took a chance and screwed it up. Been beating myself up over it these last few days.” My dad snorted.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.” My mom added.
“It was pretty bad.” I sighed. Rubbing the back of my neck, I steeled myself to tell them. “I might have called his manliness into question.” My dad chuckled and I could already see my mom getting ready to say something. “Not like that. Just said a few things and he started questioning what I meant by it. I guess there are a few things I wasn’t letting him do that made him feel like less of a man. Not sure what though.”
“Well if it is meant to happen, you two will work it out.” My mom offered.
“How long as it been since you last talked to him?” My dad asked. I looked at the calendar on my screen and felt my throat tighten.
“Almost a week.” I answered, my voice cracking. “But we were talking every day. A lot. Like always talking.” I added quickly. “Now we’re not talking at all.” There was a soft oh on the other end of the line. I jumped as there was a knock on the door.
“you expecting someone?” My dad asked.
“no.” I responded. “Probably just some random person. They’ll go away.” I shrugged it off. There was another knock.
“Doesn’t sound like they are going away.” My mom added. I got up and looked out the peephole. I gasped and scrambled with my phone.
“It's him. Uh...I’ll call you later. Or text you.” I hurried out. “Ok. Love you. Bye.” My parents responded in kind before I hung up. I hurriedly unlocked my door and pulled it open. “Hi.” I breathed out. Dan looked up at me and gave me a sad smile.
“hi.” He said. We stared at each other for a bit. “Uh can I come in?” I nodded and stepped aside. He shuffled in awkwardly and took in my living room. I took a shaky breath as I locked my door back up. Seeing him standing in the living room, I rushed past him and grabbed the empty take out containers and my laptop before tossing them out of the room.
“Sorry.” I mumbled as I looked at him. He looked a little worse for wear, wearing a pajama shirt with jeans. His hair was disheveled and there were bags under his eyes. “Uh sit.” I gestured to the couch and sat down on the other end. Dan nodded and sat down.
“I’m sorry. For how I treated you.” He started, eyes darting over my face. “I should have explained better. Not taken out my frustration on you.” I played with the sleeves on the shirt I was wearing.
“I shouldn’t have opened the box.” I countered. Dan shook his head, hand darting out to grab mine but stopping short. “I’m glad you did.” He shot back. We stared at each other for a minute. “I owe you an explanation.” I waited patiently. “It was the 80s. It was a different time.” I bit back a giggle and dan gave me a shadow of a smile. “Being submissive wasn’t…prospective partners weren’t keen on…” dan wrung his hands. “Most of my prospective partners were women. They wanted a man who was dominant. I cared more about their pleasure than mine. I mean sure I wanted to get off but it was mutual.” I slid a little closer to dan.
“I can understand that.” I cut in. Dan did reach out this time and took my hand.
“I tried. I really did. And it always felt like a punch to the gut when I couldn’t be that way. And I tried. A lot.” He chuckled dryly. “It just kept reminding me of that. How I always thought…” he trailed off and brought my hand up to kiss my knuckles. I squeezed his hand to urge him to continue. “No one is ever going to love me.” Dan looked up at me. “I know that. I’m crude. I’m crass. I’m stuck up. I’m arrogant. I'm a suck up. And a whole bunch more adjectives that Abbie's dad always seemed to want to remind me." I opened my mouth to argue but he kissed my hand again, forcing me to silently wait. Chuckling, he shook his head. "When I first took this job, I was in Abbie's office. I knew it as Harry's office. There was a box on the desk. Said Judge Harry Stone Office." I smiled softly at Dan as he focused on my hand, playing with my fingers like I had done to him countless times. "I had told Abbie I wasn't afraid to open a box. Open up to people..." He looked up at me and laughed, smiling for the first time since he got here. "But a box was easy. I opened it." Dan trailed off and I watched him for a while.
"What was in it?" I asked. Dan chuckled and shook his head.
"When I first met Harry, he had a gun that shot those snakes in a can at you." Dan smiled softly at the memory. "He covered me in them. But I always associated them with him from that point on. So I opened the box and they popped out. Surprised me. And I thought of him. And I took the job." Dan looked up at me. "I was at home. Abbie sent me home too. Apparently I was an even worse public defender than I normally am." He shrugged and I squeezed his hand. "I found this shirt." He tugged on it and sighed. "I had an operation and things didn't go the way they should have. I was in a coma. Harry came and changed me I guess. I'm not entirely sure. But I remember him begging me to wake up. To come back. He was exhausted, in every sense of the word. And he didn't like hospitals. But he came to see me anyway. Fell asleep on my stomach." Dan let go of my hand and leaned back on the couch. "This was the shirt. I remember when he woke up to see me up. We ended up talking. I said the same thing. No one is ever going to love me." Watching me carefully, Dan closed all remaining space between us. He bumped his knee against mine. "Harry said he loved me. First and only time I ever heard him say it. And my heart went crazy. I'm glad medical technology was different back then. Would have been surrounded by nurses and doctors and how would I have explained that the spike they saw was because the person I liked had just told me they loved me." I smiled at him.
"I...I don't see what that has to do with us." I murmured. Dan sighed.
"Harry has a way of reminding me of things even from beyond the grave." Dan finally said. "I hadn't seen this shirt in years. I thought I got rid of it because it was hard to get the hospital smell out. And in doing so..." Dan trailed off and blushed as he looked at me. I nodded in understanding. "But there it was. In the back of my closet. Tucked into a box of my old things. My pre-marriage life I mean." Dan coughed awkwardly. I smiled at him and nodded again. "The entire time I was home, I kept thinking about how hard I was to love back then. How the things I did, wanted to do, even said made me a difficult person to get close to. And how you didn't deserve that." He took my hand again. "I thought the only options were to keep things fairly vanilla," I cut him off with a laugh and a proud smile. "Or to end things. And after that little taste of that life again, I didn't know if I could keep it vanilla." Dan squeezed my hand.
It was quiet for a moment. My phone flashed with a message from my parents asking how it was going but I ignored it. A million thoughts ran through my head as I sat there next to him. Dan tapped my knee again and pulled me close into a hug.
"I was originally getting dressed to come over here to tell you that. Then I saw the shirt. And I thought of Harry, standing in the place he hated most because of me. Because he cared for me as I was enough that he had to come keep me company." Dan kissed my head and lingered there. "I love you (Y/N). I don't know exactly what I want to do in terms of our sex life. But I do know that I don't want to let you go. I haven't felt like this in a long time." I pulled back to look at him.
"I love you too Dan. More than you'll ever know." He hummed happily and kissed me. Pulling away, I cupped his cheeked. Dan turned to kiss my palms and smiled at me.
"In public, I know I'm a bit of an asshole." He started. "A suit of armor against the world. But when we're alone," Dan let me pull away completely and sit on the coffee table in front of him. He adjusted himself so his legs were on either side of me. "I feel good. Very good. Relaxed, wanted and accepted." Smiling at him, I reached out and put my hands on his legs. Dan leaned forward a little. "You know that crazy stuff that we all carry around inside of us? That stuff that eats little holes in your brain and churns at your insides? That stuff that you know you cannot possibly tell another living human being?" Dan started to blush a little and I squeezed his thigh, nodding. Covering my hand with his, Dan took a deep breath. "I can tell you. And you listen and you understand. And you say it's alright." Dan smiled softly at me. "It's alright. And it is." Dan drew me into his lap and wrapped his arms around me tightly. "And just like magic, you make my problems disappear, my anxieties subside. I mean, God's in his heaven, all is right with the world. There's no way to go but up, look for the silver lining, don't give up the ship and I'll be damned if that's not what each and every one of us is looking for." I chuckled at his excitement. "And I just happened to find mine so the best of luck to the rest of them." Dan flushed bright red when I leaned in to kiss him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned my head against his when I pulled away. He chuckled lightly and averted his eyes from mine. "Ladies and gentlemen, a small peek into the guts of Dan Fielding. No cover, no minimum." I laughed as he smiled at me, finally finding my eyes again.
"The rest of the world be damned." I murmured as I ran my thumb over his cheek. "As long as I've got you, the rest of the world be damned." Dan hummed in agreement as he watched me. "When was the last time you got a decent night's sleep?" I asked, eyeing the dark circles under his eyes.
"When was that night you handcuffed me to the bed?" He asked. Smiling softly at him, I turned around and grabbed my phone. I sent my parents a text saying it all worked out for the better before turning it off. Climbing off his lap, I held my hand out to him.
"Come on." I gently waved him up. "Time for bed." Taking my hand, Dan trailed after me to bed. It was the first good night's sleep either of us had in a week.

book: The Day You Knocked pairing: Joshua “Josh” McKnight & Ella Aldridge
“I think that’s my last round for the night,” Josh says, standing from the bean bag on the floor next to my chair.
“Seriously? Just one more game, dude,” Kallie tries to convince, tossing his controller back to him.
“Seriously Kal, I have a lot to do tomorrow,” He explains, standing and leaning against the wall, glancing down at me. “I’ll see you in class tomorrow?”
“Oh, definitely. I wouldn’t miss a Toussaint lecture,” I assure, smiling slightly and earning one in return.
“I’ll see you all around,” He assures, pushing off towards the door, being followed by everyones goodbyes as they echo behind them, door closing.
“Ella,” Liz speaks up, gaining my attention from the book in my lap. “Weren’t you going to give that back before he left?”
“Give what back?”
The look on her face reads Are you serious? but her lips say, “His sweatshirt. That you’re wearing. Right now.”
“Oh! I totally forgot!” I answer, glancing down at my chest as I unfold myself from my seat. “I’m going to go try to catch him.”
“You do that,” Kallie jests, shooing me from the room, me exiting with just socks on my feet, sweatshirt still on. Padding along, I can hear the elevator ding at the end of the hall, signaling it is just arriving. I jog a bit now, rounding the corner to an empty hall but a still open elevator, stepping into the open door to stop its closing.
“Ella?” Josh’s low tone draws my eyes, an amused smile on his face as I notice him glance down to the reindeer on my socks.
“Uh, you forgot your sweatshirt,” I tell, gesturing to the crew neck that’s still on my body.
“I didn’t forget it, I was just going to get it back another time,” He assures, running a hand through his hair. “You looked comfortable.”
“Oh, yeah, I was,” I admit, tugging the overly large sleeves over my hands. “But Liz reminded me I had it so I wanted to return it. I know it’s your only sweatshirt.”
“It’s not my only sweatshirt?” He denies, furrowing his brows.
“Well how would I know when it’s the only thing you wear?”
“I- am not even going to argue with you on how wrong you are,” He denies, shaking his head. “So...?”
“Oh! Yes,” I exclaim, remembering why I am holding up the elevator.
“You should probably just step in here and ride upstairs, eventually someone will realize the elevator isn’t responding and will call maintenance,” He advices, tugging on the sleeve of the sweatshirt I’m fiddling with enough to pull me in.
Why must my brain fly out the window every time it’s just us?
Instead of answering, I pull the sweatshirt over my head, leaving me only in my my cropped t-shirt and pajama pants.
“Someone’s ready for Christmas,” He jest, eyeing the snowflakes on my pajama pants.”
“I- shut up, and take your sweatshirt,” I instruct, tossing it for him to catch, something he does easily. He just chuckles, shaking his head again. “Thank you for letting me borrow it.”
“It’s no problem, it looks better on you anyways.”
Was that flirting? He can’t be flirting with me. He has a girlfriend.
“What?” I ask.
“I said you looked better in it,” He admits once more, obviously not seeing the issue.
He’s been like this for months. At first I didn’t notice it.
That’s a lie. I absolutely did.
The intense, admittedly hot jealousy when he thought CJ was crushing on me.
Walking me to my lab with our hands touching every time we moved.
Everyone else pointing out things, like when Kallie told me that all he talks to her about at band is me, not his girlfriend, but me.
“Josh, can I ask you something?” He nods, and I take this as my go ahead. “What is going on here? You flirt with me, and you make me feel all fluttery which isn’t an experience I like because there is no scientific reasoning for it and -”
“And I don’t have a girlfriend,” He interrupts my rambling, taking the wind from my lungs. “Abigail and I broke up last week when we were home for Thanksgiving.”
“You, you what? I’m so sorry,” I apologize, knowing it must hurt. Nearly three years together and suddenly it’s all over.
“You have nothing to be sorry- well maybe a small thing to be sorry for,” He explains.
“What does that mean?” I question, the elevator door dinging, signaling our arrival at the fifth floor. I step out of door, entering the hall that connects to his room.
“It means,” He begins, following me out, “That your only reason to be sorry is the fact that you’re the reason we broke up.”
“I’m the what?” I question, stepping back quickly. This can not be happening. This is just a very vivid dream entirely fueled by my obsession with friends to lovers books.
“You,” He begins, taking that step back towards me, “Ella Aldridge,” He begins again, this time taking my hands that were clicking away at my side. “Are the reason we broke up. I told her I was interested in someone else-” Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, “so I couldn’t be with her anymore.”
“Josh, you... you broke up with your girlfriend for me?”
“Of course I did. I’ve been into you since biology last year, but then we lost touch and suddenly this year I’m half drunk and dropping Kallie off at your suite and there you are.”
“And there I was,” I agree, remembering the day well. “And there I was. Just on the other side of the door the day you knocked.”

Chaotic as The Sea (3/?)
Pairing: Jack Sparrow x Female!Reader
Word Count: 3k Warning: swearing, violence Part Summary: The Black Pearl arrives in Bimini and as any adventure with Jack Sparrow, there’s chaos
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Two days later...
Will
We arrive at Bimini as the sun begins to set. Y/N and Barbosa argue that we should wait until sunrise to explore the island. I argue that we can't waste another minute without trying to rescue Elizabeth. Jack, to my surprise, agrees that we shouldn't wait. Though, I think his reasoning is because he wants to see the fountain.
Barbosa, Jack, Gibbs, Ragetti, Pintel, Y/N, and I all hop off the boat to explore the island. Gibbs, Will, and Pintel all carry long torches for us as the only sources of light.
"Okay, so I know the general direction, but unless you feel like risking the chance of getting lost, which I don't, I suggest we use the compass," Y/N announces.
"I thought you were certain of the fountain's location," Barbosa remarks a tad agitated.
"Every tree and speck of white sand look exactly the same. Next trip, I'll drop your ass in a jungle in the middle of the night and tell you to find your way out!" She snaps.
"Okay, well then let's use the compass." Ragetti takes the compass of Jack's belt and hands it to Y/N.
The device begins to spin in her hand and Ragetti peeks over her shoulder. Jack quietly moves to stand beside her, wishing to catch a glimpse of himself.
Abruptly, Y/N shuts the compass and frantically tries to get rid of it. "Oh uh, no it's okay, Jack can take it." She tosses it to him.
"Me?" He looks at her wide-eyed and panicky. "No, give it to Will! He wants to find the bloody place." He tosses it to me.
"What's wrong with you two?" Barbosa yells in frustration.
"The compass doesn't work for them," I state.
"Seriously!" Y/N huffs.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Barbosa questions.
"When Jack holds it the arrow points to Y/N," I explain pointing between them.
"Who told you that!" Jack questions.
Then, Jack and Y/N both glare at Gibbs. "Gibbs!" They bark in unison.
The older man holds up his hands in surrender.
"Well, why can't Y/N do it?" Pintel questions timidly, circling his hands together.
"Why can't Will just bloody do it and we can move on!" The woman challenges.
Jack nods. "I'm with her on this one."
I sigh. "When Y/N holds it, it points toward whatever she wants so bad in New France."
"But isn't New France North of here?" Ragetti questions.
"Yes!" The rest of us answer in unison.
His face scrunches together in confusion. "But uh-"
Y/N elbows Ragetti in the ribs. "Shut it!" She's quick to change the subject. "Let's go! Will! I'll lead the way, you just act as a checker."
_______________________________________________
30 minutes later...
Y/N
As the seven of us continue to march through the thick jungle, Jack appears beside me. "After we're finished in New France. I say you and I pay a visit to Tortuga for old time's sake."
I laugh. "Ha! Wish to relive our break-up?"
"Think of it as a celebration of our reunion," he tries to sugarcoat it.
I roll my eyes, laughing as I move ahead to join Will up front. "In your dreams!"
Ragetti
I pick up my pace to catch up with Pintel. "I know something you don't know!"
"What?" He eagerly asks.
"When Y/N was holding the compass, the arrow was pointing toward her," I whisper.
His face scrunches together. "Y/N desires herself?"
"No!" I huff. "Jack was standing next to her!"
He gasps, putting it all together. "So you mean-"
"Yes!"
He grins. "That's kinda sweet actually."
Y/N
"Now be careful!" I announce to the men, watching my step as we get closer to the mountainside. "The natives made pit traps and other boobytraps-"
Before I can finish my warning. Jack screams from the back of the group. When I whip my head around, Jack is nowhere to be seen. "For idiots like Jack," I sigh.
"Does anyone see him?" Will questions, moving his torch around.
"It's kind of dark!" Gibbs remarks.
"Thank Jack and Will for that! They refused to wait until morning," I grumble, marching back to where I last saw Jack.
"Jack!" We all call in a scatter as we search.
"Captain!" Gibbs shouts.
We all watch our steps, checking the heavily covered jungle floor and sky for any sign of him. He could be hanging from a tree in a net or in a hole somewhere. If it's deep enough and well covered, it'll be hard to hear him.
"This is ridiculous!" Gibbs huffs.
"I say we leave him and tell the crew some natives got him," Barbosa suggests.
"I have an idea," I announce as one pops into my head. "Give me the compass," I ask Will, holding out my head.
"But how will that help?" He questions with a raised brow.
I hold the compass in my palm and lift the lid. I watch as the arrow spins. Soon, each of the men are gathered around me in a circle, eager to catch a glimpse. Then, the arrow stops, pointing Southeast. The men break apart, allowing me to follow it.
"Watch your step," I advise.
I keep a close eye on the arrow, making sure it doesn't change direction. I'm about to take another step when Will suddenly grabs my arm. I glance ahead and realize there's a massive pit in front of me. Its edges were covered in leaves and brush.
"Oh, thanks," I exhale deeply.
"Captain! You down there?" Gibbs shouts down below, holding a torch above the massive pit.
I kneel down beside the pit and await an answer.
There's a faint, "Am I dead?"
I giggle and shout back. "No, you're not dead you idiot!"
"Pintel! Ragetti! Go fetch a rope from the ship!" Barbosa commands, sending the two off.
I laugh, relieved that Jack is okay. Based on the distant swooshing sound, the pit is filled with water thankfully, not spikes. This could've been a recovery mission. I sit back on my knees and glance up to find the remaining three men staring at me with knowing grins.
"What!" I sass, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Nothing," they all say, breaking apart to roam in different directions.
I roll my eyes, such nosy people, pirates.
____________________________________________
The men work together, yanking Jack up from the bottom of the pit. I remained to kneel beside the edge, holding up a torch so we can see Jack when he pops up.
"Ho!" Barbosa calls out as they tug the robe. "Ho!"
Soon, Jack appears from within the darkness and I grip his belt, guiding him to safety. The men release the rope and relax, releasing panting breaths.
"You okay? Captain!" Gibbs questions.
"Yeah," Jack flips onto his back, catching his breath, "yeah, I should be fine. How did you-" His eyes flicker about until his eyes land on the compass on the ground beside me.
"Ah, now that's interesting." A cheeky smirk begins to form on his face as he lifts his gaze to meet mine.
I shove him in the shoulder, frustrated. "I told you to watch where you were going!" He has no idea how worried I was.
"I was a tad distracted by you, Love," he chuckles.
My eyes fall shut as I release a sigh of relief. Thank God, he's okay.
Jack places his hand on my thigh, capturing me by surprise. His dark eyes meet might and I place my hand over his. He flips his over and they interlock in my lap. His eyes soften at the sight.
Suddenly, there's a series of yells from across the jungle. Each of us tosses our heads to the side and sees small glimmers of light in the distance. Jack flies up beside me from his laid position.
"Are they with us?" He questions.
There's the ring of a gunshot and the bullet hits the tree right by Barbosa's head.
"Don't think so!" Will declares, his voice shaky.
"Who are they?" I shout.
"Wait! They're Black Beard's men! I remember one of them. He's the one who took Elizabeth!" Will determines.
“How did they find the fountain?” Barbosa yells.
“He knew you’d come and find me!” I comprehend and look over at Jack. “He’s been following us here!”
Pintel and Ragetti immediately make a run for it.
“I’m with them, time to go!” Will decides and starts to run back to the ship.
Jack takes my hand and instantly brings me to my feet. We begin to run too, hand in hand.
“Cowards!” Barbosa shouts and stands his ground. He whips out his gun and begins to shoot at the mob. “Come and get it you slimy gits! Ha!” He laughs.
Running utterly blind in the dark jungle, there’s hardly any light other than that that can make it through the tree tops from the moon. We make it through the jungle and see the beach a few yards ahead. Will and the two morons make a bee-line for the ship, when they’re suddenly stopped by a cluster of Blackbeard’s men running from down the beach. Jack pulls me into his side and draws his sword.
Suddenly, I feel a hand wrap around my wrist and I’m yanked away from Jack. He immediately whips around and his eyes grow wide. My back slams into someone’s chest and I struggle to free myself. More of Blackbeard’s men appear from within the jungle and begin to fight Jack. Two men begin to drag me off and I fling around, trying to break free.
"Jack!" I scream. “Let me go you bastards!”
Jack searches for me and when he finally spots me, he screams. "No!" He looks at me pleading and full of guilt.
As more of Blackbeard’s men appear, we both quickly realize there’s nothing either of us can do. These morons are taking me to their ship, more than likely to see their captain and to be held prisoner. This is yet another reunion I did not request.
______________________________________
After sailing out to the Queen Anne's Revenge a couple hundred yards from the island, the nasty men take me aboard and immediately drag me off to the captain’s quarters. They swing open the double doors below top deck and we enter a familiar red velvet decorated office.
A tall man stands behind the desk with his back to us. "And who do we have here?" A familiar voice purrs. When he spins around, his grin falls to confusion. "Y/N?"
"I told you! Idiots!" I huff and yank my arms free from his buffoons."Hi, Eddie," I offer a fake smile.
"Eddie?" The pair beside me repeat in unison.
The captain pinches the bridge of his nose with a sigh. "How many times must I tell you?"
"You could hand me the Templar Treasure yourself, I won't call you Blackbeard. It's stupid," I laugh, approaching him.
"Leave us," he commands his minions. Once we’re allow, he moves to stand the other side of his desk. He props himself against it with a grin. "So, you and Jack are back together again..."
"No way in hell," I snicker, taking a look about his office. He’s changed it in the last five years. "He promised me he knew where the Templar Treasure was, I'm simply completing my half of the deal."
"Which is?" He inquires.
I stop my admiring of his decor to meet his gaze. "Showing him to the fountain."
"You would honestly betray me like that?" He acts offended my placing his hand against his chest.
"If it guaranteed me the Holy Grail? Yes,” I stand firm.
"Your loyalties still lie with that treasure? You truly are a pirate at heart,” he smirks. He rises from his position on the desk to pour us chalices of wine. As he approaches me, his eyes travel up and down my entirety. "Dare I say, you look amazing."
I accept the wine, but roll my eyes at his compliment. "Oh save it.”
He pouts dramatically. "What happened to the spirited eighteen-year-old I first met?” He reaches up and tucks strands of my hair behind my ear. “You're bitter now."
I lift my arm and knock his hand away from me. "It's called maturing."
"Have you matured enough to conclude that I'm the better man than Jack?" He smirks, stepping closer to me.
I move away from him and toward the book case against the far wall behind his desk. "I think I prefer neither of you,” I answer over my shoulder.
"One point, if I recall correctly, there was a point where you couldn't choose between us." He narrows his eyes, taking a sip of his wine as he creeps closer to me again. "Do you remember those few months in Bermuda?"
I shift of my heels, allowing my eyes to fall to the Persian rug beneath them. "It was always going to be him, Eddie..."
Abruptly, he rushes toward me and pins me against the bookcase. My wine falls out of my hand and stains the rug. "I could've had you if I wanted!" He growls.
I look him dead in the eyes with a clenched jaw. "You dare threaten me!”
He laughs mockingly. "What? Going to curse me?"
I grin. "That used to terrify you if I recall correctly."
"You're all bark and no bite. I happen to know for a fact, you don't practice dark magic!" He challenges.
"Just because I don't practice it, doesn't mean I don't know how to use it.”
There’s a commotion outside and soon the double doors swing open to reveal Jack marching in, gun drawn. While Eddie is distracted I pick up a vase off one of the shelves near me and I knock him over the head with it. The vase shatters into a hundred pieces over his head and the man falls to the ground with a thud at my feet. My chest rises and falls rapidly as I meet Jack’s gaze. His eyes flicker away from the man knocked out on the floor and up to me.
"I hate that I'm relieved to see you," I pant.
He runs over to me and takes my hand. "Consequence of loving me." He guides me over to one of the windows and swings it open. “Can you jump?”
I look at him as though he as three heads. “Can you jump? What kind of dumb question is that?” I mock. Then, I ask him a similar dumb question. “I don’t know Jack, can you swim?” I roll my eyes and climb up onto the windowpane and jump out.
“Jesus, Mary, and the bloody camel sorry for asking!” I hear him grumble under his breath as climbs out the window and jumps in after me.

Jack
We’re not sure how we’ll get Elizabeth back, but we will. Though, I suspect that he was never after the fountain. No, what he truly wanted was Y/N and the fountain was just a cover-up. I brought her right to him. For now, we just need to create some distance between us so we can form a plan.
Y/N climbs the ladder above me and Gibbs helps her on board. She offers him a thank you and brushes herself down. The crew is well into their tasks, getting us far from this island as soon as possible.
“Glad to see you’re safe, Miss,” Gibbs greets.
“Did everyone make it back okay?” She questions as I climb aboard.
“Yes, even I,” Barbosa announces with a proud grin. “Not with the help of you lot,” he adds.
“Don’t exactly have a death wish,” she giggles.
“There’s a change of clothes for you in the Captain’s office,” Gibbs informs her.
She offers him thanks and begins toward my quarters. Barbosa and Gibbs break apart to return to their positions.
“You! Hold it!” I call out.
The two men glance in my direction, wondering who I’m speaking to. They follow my gaze to Y/N.
She whips her head around, her gorgeous, long, wavy, Y/H/C flowing in the breeze. She crosses her arms over chest. “Excuse me?” She scoffs with a grin forming on her lips.
I narrow my gaze at her. “I have one question.”
Barbosa and Gibbs watch the interaction, their heads tilting back and forth between us with each exchange. The crew too watches as they attempt to multitask with their duties. Her eyes remain on the deck panels and anywhere else but me.
“Did you know the compass would lead you to me?” I ask.
There’s a pause and I can tell she’s reluctant to answer despite the amused expression she wears. Then, her eyes rise to meet mine with a sigh. “Yes... maybe...”
I smirk, approaching her slowly. “Oh see now that’s interesting, don’t you think?”
“What? Just going to gloat about the ship now?” She rolls her eyes, directing her focus in the distance away from me.
I bring my hands up to her cup her face and make her meet my gaze. To my surprise and pleasure, she doesn’t move from her spot or shove me away. Instead, brings her fingers to hook through the loops of belt.
“You stay with me from now on. No more hiding out.” I smirk. “That’s an order,” I tease quietly between us.
“Whatever you say...” Her eyes fall to my lips and then flicker back to my eyes. She grins. “Captain.”
One my hands slips behind her head to her neck and I bring my lips to meet hers in a needy kiss. Her arms fling over my shoulders, deepening the kiss.
“Now they’re going to be insufferable!” I hear Barbosa grumble to Gibbs as he stomps off.
Five years of searching for her, waiting for, wondering if I’ll ever see her again. What happened between us all those years ago is one of my greatest regrets if not the biggest. Our relationship has never been easy, in fact it’s exceedingly complicated and one giant headache. We haven’t stopped arguing since the moment we met and rarely agree on anything. Yet, we love as we do argue with each other, passionately and with everything we have. Now that I have Y/N back and I know she loves me in return, I’m never letting her go. God help me if I let Blackbeard anywhere near her.

YOU WON’T PLAY, YOU’RE NO FUN — PROF!CHRIS
summary: chris evans is your professor with whom you’ve had an affair with since the beginning of the semester. you meet with him over zoom with your fellow teammates to discuss your project, but you can’t seem to get into the right mindset. instead of providing the group with clever comments and ideas, all you do is test the limits of chris’ patience and self control.
warnings: don’t have sex with your prof please, mentions of online classes, smut including: established dom/sub relationship & teacher/student relationship (abuse of power used strictly as a joke, they are both 18+ and consensual), degradation, masturbation & mutual masturbation, edging. MINORS DON’T READ NOR INTERACT.
word count: 1500
notes: rail me daddy :) i’m a hoe for teacher/student if you can’t tell already. i do keep it vague by not mentioning any majors, don’t worry! it’s my first time writing for chris, so please, be kind!!! i hope you enjoy reading this mess!!!! ily <3

“Miss /Y/L/N, would you mind staying a little longer? I need to talk to you.” Chris’ voice resonated as your classmates went quiet before they waved their cameras goodbye and left the two of you alone.
Uh oh.
“Sure, what do you want to talk about?” By the time you were done with your question, you noticed that his face was frozen. “Mister Evans! Chris?! I think there’s an issue I can’t — hear you.” You sighed and rolled your eyes. You seriously needed to get that Internet connection checked. You had your hand on your laptop, ready to close it up when you heard the familiar noise of a video call, but this time it was a private conversation.
“Don’t want anybody to walk in on us, right?” Chris winked and smirked at you. You had a flashback of that one time you hooked up in his office and realized his door was left ajar when you could hear the secretary of the department arguing with the printer. You thanked your guardian angel (who must had been very disappointed) that you were just on your knees blowing him off, and that nothing too serious was going on.
You laughed, for a second you thought you were in trouble.
“What was that all about?” Chris questioned, his smirk disappeared and was replaced by a dark expression.
“I have no clue what you’re referring too.” You shrugged lightly and looked at the screen, wishing he had chosen another shirt that showcased his tattoos. You were lucky enough to see his arms from the short sleeves, you felt as aroused as royal men back in the day when they saw a woman’s ankles.
Chris clicked his tongue and shook his head. “Oh, really? There is no explanation to the attitude you’ve been giving your teammates and me all morning?”
You sighed again, loud enough for him to hear you. “They’re idiots and I’m sick of their shit. They’re not doing anything on the project yet they show off in front of you just to   —“
“Got it, they’re dumb and you’re smart.” He put the emphasis on the last few words. “Tell me, Miss, if you’re that smart, how come you’ve made the very stupid decision to be rude to me as well?”
You swallowed thickly. You were just so pissed off, exhausted from the all nighter you had to do in order to complete the requirements for today’s class. “Chris, look, you know it wasn’t about you...” You heard him cough. “I’m sorry, Sir.”
“I’d call you a good girl, but good girls don’t talk back and they certainly don’t act so bratty. What a potty mouth, you swore in front of everybody. Do I have to teach you manners too? I’m afraid that’s not listed on my tasks as your professor, too bad.”
“I said I was sorry! You know how much I hate them!”
“Do I have to give you a bad grade for not cooperating? Not everybody is as understanding as me, you need to learn that.”
He sounded so arrogant, so condescending. As much as you hated it, it turned you on. You were all squirmy on your chair, and he caught up on that.
“Tell me, what’s on your mind, princess? Why are you on the edge?”
You looked up through your lashes, letting out a complaint. That fucker. The last time you met, which was over a week ago, he had an emergency and had to leave his apartment to go on campus. How convenient, you had not finished and you were left breathless and worked up on his bed. He made you promise not to touch yourself without permission on his way out. He knew just how impatient you could get. All the needy texts you sent him while he was looking over his other classes during an exam; all the begging you did over the phone while he insisted on doing small talk.
“You won’t play with me,” you pouted at the screen. “You’re no fun.”
He chuckled, his voice sounded lower than usual while he sat up on his chair. He loved this game with you, probably as much as you did if not more.
You noticed his arm disappeared out of the frame. You’d do ten other team works with your stupid colleagues if it meant you’d be the one to take care of his hard on at that very moment.
“Oh, baby wanna have fun? Is that it? You should have told me sooner!” He cleared his throat when he heard you sigh again, giving you a warning. “Get those fingers nice and wet for me.”
You obeyed, sucking on two fingers of your dominant hand. You picked up on the back and forth movements of his arm, he was palming at his crotch. You caught a glimpse of him standing up   — he was in tight Calvin Klein boxers   —  and sitting back down, his cock freed from his clothes. “I’ve been good, Sir. So good.”
He nodded slowly, after spitting in his hand and starting to fist his cock. “Oh, really?”
You nodded frantically. “I haven’t touched myself since you left,” you pulled your hand away from your mouth, a string of saliva fell down your chin. “I’ve been so wet for you, Sir. You’re all I’ve been thinking about.”
“Then think about my fingers rubbing your clit.” He groaned, the speed of his arm motions increased.
You jerked on your chair at the contact of your fingers, your panties were soaked from your arousal. “Sir!” You moaned out when you circled faster against the bundle of nerves.
“You’re so fucked up for me, you’d rather cum on your fingers than on my face, huh?” You felt tears pooling in your eyes. “Stop touching yourself and answer me.”
You pulled your hand away, showing it to the camera so he believed you. “I want to cum so bad, Sir! Please, just once! And I’ll wait until we meet again. I need it!”
“And I need to fuck that tight little cunt of yours and you don’t hear me complainin’.” His bicep flexed in his tight shirt, his breathing got heavier. “I waited for you the entire week. I didn’t text you in the middle of the night begging like a desperate slut.” He nodded, indicating you could start rubbing again.
You moaned loudly, throwing your head back. He was edging you, again.
“Eyes on me, Baby. Need to see you.”
It took so much energy just to keep your eyes open.
“Faster.” He growled, he was so close too. You could feel it, even if he was far away.
“Sir, please!”
“Stop, stop right fucking now.” He pulled away from his swollen cock at the same time as you did. “I won’t tolerate attitude like this again, you heard me?” You nodded, mouthed a ‘yes’. “I don’t want to repeat myself. You’re such a dumb little baby sometimes, I’ll probably have to.” The more he mocked you, the more you needed to touch yourself again. “Next time you act like a bitch in my class, you’ll regret it.” You never took his threats lightly. The first, and last, time that you did, you ended up bent over his knee with the belt of his dress pants spanking your ass red like the ink from the pen he used to grade papers
“I’ll count to ten. At ten, you’ll...”
“I’ll cum!” You spoke excitedly.
“Yes, Babygirl. You’ll get to cum.” He licked his lips and stroked his beard, his hand holding his sensitive cock. “Ready?”
You replied with even more enthusiasm and he started to count up.
“Slowly, 1, 2, 3...” He swallowed thickly. “Add more pressure now, 4, 5, 6,” he tightened his grip around his cock. “Faster, 7, 8, 9...” he jerked himself up at the same speed as you. “Now, cum for me. Make a mess like you’d do on my cock. That’s right, cum for me, Princess.”
The knot in your stomach finally snapped and you released yourself on your hand. You were panting and clenching around nothing, wishing you were with Chris right now.
He growled loudly as he released himself on his hand and shirt. “Look what you did to me, Baby.” He sat up just enough to show you, causing you to laugh at the sight of his messed up top.
In exchange, you showed him your slick coated fingers before you licked them clean. Blood rushed to his cock again, but he took a deep breath to calm down. “All good now?”
“Yes! Thank you, Sir.” You smiled, content and satisfied.
He wiped his hand clean with his shirt, after he removed it and let you admire his broad chest and inked drawings. “I’m giving you extra homework.”
Your smile disappeared and you squinted, mentally preparing for more readings or an extra essay on how good he fucked you. It would be your third or fourth, you ran out of synonyms to explain that he made you feel like you were on cloud nine.
“Take a shower and a nap, I’ll get to this meeting and meet you back home, okay?”
Your face lit up again, and you clapped happily.
“See? I can be fun when I want to.”

I'm once again asking for your Time travel Sokka AU 😭😭 (I really wanna read it)
this message has been sitting in my inbox for way too long. thank you for being patient with me!! here’s a snippet to tide you over:
Sokka is 13.
From his tower, Sokka watches the village below.
As Chief, Hakoda has decided to lead the remaining warriors from their tribe to fight in the Hundred Year War. The village is the busiest it’s been in a long time—shipbuilding, rationing, and packing have been constant the last few months, but today is the day.
Today is the day his father leaves, along with almost everyone in the village. Those left will be women, children, and the elderly.
And Sokka.
He’s tried convincing his dad that he’s strong and brave enough to join the rest of the tribe’s men, but he won’t listen. Hakoda just places a hand on Sokka’s shoulder and tells him that he’s needed here most, that he needs to protect his sister.
Sokka gets that. He does. But if he were to go with his dad, he could do so much more. He just wants to help.
It’s the morning, early enough that the sun hasn’t risen yet and Katara is still sleeping. Only a few hours are left before the warriors leave. Sokka watches them prepare for their journey avidly, not wanting to miss a thing.
So of course that’s when he time travels.
He turns to look out the opening behind him and is suddenly staring at a metal wall, patched together and brushed lightly, tinged red in the dim light. It reminds him of the material used to make those awful Fire Nation ships.
“Sokka?”
The shocked voice comes from behind him; he spins around immediately.
“Dad?”
His father is sitting in the corner, dressed in an odd red tunic and loose pants—nothing resembling his usual water tribe gear. He’s staring up at Sokka like he can’t quite believe his eyes.
At the same time, they ask each other, “What are you doing here?”
Loud footsteps from outside wherever they are draws Hakoda unsteadily to his feet; Sokka can’t help but notice that he’s favouring his right side. A slit of light filters into the room, but Hakoda steps forward, pushing Sokka behind him before he can see where it came from.
Sokka holds his breath, trying to keep still. Obviously, Hakoda doesn’t want him to be seen, and he trusts his dad to keep him safe no matter what time he’s in.
A gruff voice calls into the room, “Who’s in there?”
“What are you talking about?” his father replies evenly.
“Prisoners ain’t supposed to have company.”
Prisoners? Sokka wonders. He looks around the small room with renewed interest, being careful to stay behind his dad’s silhouette. His chest swoops uncomfortably. Now that Sokka knows what he’s looking at, it’s obvious—they’re in a jail cell.
“I’m alone in here, as you know,” his dad says.
The man pauses, as if second guessing himself. “I heard voices.”
“I was talking to myself.”
The person on the other side of the door—Sokka figures he must be a guard—barks out a cruel laugh. “Always knew people from the Water Tribe were nuts.”
His dad must be able to tell that Sokka gets riled up by the comment, because he tightens his grip on his arm, holding him firmly in place. A breath passes, then two. A moment later, the light vanishes and the scrape of metal against metal rings in his ears.
Hakoda waits a long minute before moving. The grip around his arm doesn’t loosen until they both hear the faint sound of retreating footsteps. Immediately his dad is turning, shuffling Sokka so he’s no longer in view of tiny, barred window.
The first thing out of Sokka’s mouth is, “Why are you in prison?”
Hakoda’s expression is pained. “Oh, Sokka. How old are you?”
“Thirteen,” he answers automatically before his brain gets back in gear. “The Fire Nation caught up with you, didn’t they?”
“I’m not answering that.”
“Why not?” Sokka exclaims, then quiets his voice when Hakoda shushes him. “I can help you!”
His dad sighs wearily, moving to sit with his back against the wall. Sokka doesn’t miss his slight wince as he does so.
“You’re hurt,” Sokka says, sounding more accusatory than he intends.
“I’m fine, son,” he says firmly, his tone brooking no arguments.
Sokka argues anyway. “Fine? You’re in prison and you’re injured.”
He assesses his dad, trying to gauge how much older he looks. His hair is slightly longer but the style is the same, half pulled into a wolftail with blue beads knotted at the end of two braids. A new scar traces the back of his hand, but other than that he looks relatively unchanged from yesterday.
“What year is it? Where are we?” Sokka demands. “Tell me. I’ll come find you in this time.”
“No,” Hakoda says, gaze suddenly sharp and commanding in the dim light. “You are under no circumstances allowed to come for me. This place is extremely dangerous.”
“All the more reason for me to find you!” he insists.
Hakoda shakes his head. “No. Absolutely not.”
Sokka drops to his knees, not ashamed to start begging, not if there’s a possibility it could save his dad. “Please,” he whispers. “I can help. You just need to tell me how.”
Hakoda’s hard expression softens into one of compassionate understanding. “If I told you, I wouldn’t be here right now, would I?”

FATWS One Shot #5 - Reminiscing
Word Count: 1195
Warnings: Mention of The Fall, Cursing, Teasing, Fluff, Not Much Else
Setting/Characters: Takes place before they moved to D.C., so before Stars, Stripes, and Bubbles and CA:TWS; In New York City; Reader, Steve Rogers
A/N: I didn’t post any writing today so I whipped this up because I wanted to at least put a dent in the One Shot list. I know it’s a bit out of order, but I got this request and I wanted to make it separate from the movie scenes because I felt like Steve would’ve told her this before. They also hadn’t visited the museum yet, obviously, or else she’d know about him already. It’s just a cute little thing about the good ole days. It’s a bit shorter, but there wasn’t much more to add and I like it the way it is.
I’ll try posting more this week; I’m babysitting my little cousin tomorrow and Tuesday, but I’m off work Wednesday, so I’ll be able to write more then. The next One Shot is already being worked on; it’s back in order so it’s gonna take place during TWS. I have to update the One Shot list to accommodate the ideas brainstormed between myself, a couple friends, and you lovely readers.
This isn’t beta’d, as usual, so please excuse any mistakes! Be kind to yourselves and others! Enjoy this one, thank you for reading, and stay tuned!

You let out a wolf whistle, leaning on the back of Steve’s chair. “Who is that? He’s pretty cute. You know, for someone from a hundred years ago.”
Steve scoffed and rolled his eyes at you with a smile on his lips. It fell when he looked back down at the black and white picture that was fraying at the ends and had a tint to it from the time it’s spent on the earth. The young man you were pointing at, probably mid-20s if you had to guess, was grinning at the camera, looking sharp in an Army uniform, hat tilted on his head.
“That’s…Bucky.”
“Bucky?” You snickered, but then you caught sight of the far off look in Steve’s eye and found yourself frowning. “Who was he?”
“He was…” Steve sighed, leaning back into the chair, his head falling back onto your forearm. “He was my best friend.”
You set your chin on his shoulder, looking at another picture, yellowing with time. He was in that one too, over to the side with a cigarette in his mouth, his arm around two other soldiers, dark hair slicked back. You had heard about the Howling Commandos, who you were guessing were the other guys in the photo. Everyone learned about them in history class in grade school. Captain America and his Commandos fighting against HYDRA, beating the Nazis and saving the day. “Did you meet in Italy?”
“No.” Steve shook his head, carefully setting down the beat up picture. “We…we met when we were kids. We grew up together. In Brooklyn.”
Humming, you studied him, noting the tightened jaw and the crease in his brow, you looked down and tilted your head, spotting another picture of the two of them smiling. Tracing it gently, you tenderly inquired, “he meant a lot to you?”
“He was my brother. He was always there for me. At my lowest, he held me up. I never was truly alone. I always had him.”
You could hear the grief in his voice as he spoke in adoration about the man, frozen in time with a smile on his face in a frame to protect him from fading. “What happened?” You asked softly, running your fingers through Steve’s gold locks that were falling in his eyes.
Steve gave a heavy sigh, closing his eyes. “A mission went sideways. To catch Zola?” He looked up at you to see if you had read about that particular operation of theirs in a file somewhere. You nodded, remembering vaguely the mission he was talking about.
“A train in the Alps, right? I thought you caught him, though.”
The man nodded, sad eyes avoiding your gaze. “We did. But…we were ambushed. Bucky…Bucky and I were separated. I tried to get to him…I couldn’t-” He stopped talking, closing his eyes to compose himself. “He fell and I couldn’t reach him in time.”
“Steve…” you shook your head, scratching that spot at the nape of his neck you knew helped him relax. “It wasn’t your fault, bubs.” He opened his mouth to argue, but decided against it and nodded. “May I?”
He nodded again when you gestured to the box he had on the desk in front of him, letting you look through the other pictures he had. “Tell me about him.”
The blonde gave a little chuckle, smiling fondly at the memories spinning around in his brain. “He was a jerk. He always tried to keep my outta trouble. We met after some kids tried stealing my lunch money. I-I kinda tried fighting them. He beat ‘em up for me.”
“You never did like bullies.”
He grinned at you. “No…no I didn’t. There was this one time…”
You leaned your cheek against his shoulder and watched his face light up as he told you stories about him and Bucky being boys. Playing in the mud, racing through Central Park, going to Coney Island, eating ice cream, sitting on the fire escape.
“He used to read to me. A lot. When I got sick and stuff. He liked reading. He told me it was his way of taking me somewhere without getting outta bed. I used to draw him scenes from his favorite books while listening. It gave me something to do with my hands. That’s why I picked it up. I could do it from bed.”
“Did he draw too?”
“Hell no! Pal could barely draw a stick figure! I made him take this art class with me and all he did was mope about it because it was the only class he had trouble in. But it was our agreement; he could take me to the gym he went to if he came with me to class.”
You giggled at the image of scrawny little Steve in a gym. “You went to a gym?”
He gave you a bemused look. “You’re not funny. Yes I went to a gym. I didn’t do much. Bucky trained a lot though. He was the YMCA welterweight champion three years in a row.”
“No kidding.” You picked up a picture of Bucky sitting on a couple steps, a t-shirt tucked into pants being held up by suspenders. “Look at those arms.”
“Shuddup!” Steve laughed, pushing you playfully.
You sniggered. “I’m just saying. I bet he got all the ladies.”
“Are you kidding? Dames lined up at the door to dance with him. You would’ve too,” he poked your side. “If you lived back then.”
You shook your head, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. “He’s cute, but I’d much rather watch you draw.”
Steve snorted. “Trust me. You’d be singing a different tune if you met him. You would’ve liked him. He would’ve liked you.” He went quiet, his expression morphing into one of contemplation.
“Well anyone willing to stand up and hang out with that stubborn kid from Brooklyn has my vote.” You joked, ruffling his locks.
Steve didn’t say anything. He just looked at you for a minute, before turning back to the pictures and starting to clear them away. “I’m gonna put these away and we can go for that run, alright?”
You nodded, getting off of him and stretching. “Alright. But you can’t lap me again!” He chortled at that, smirking not so innocently. “I’m so serious, Rogers! That was mean! I feel so out of shape when you do that!”
“Alright, alright. I won’t honey. I promise.” He grabbed your hand and placed a kiss to your knuckles. “And you’re beautiful no matter what, okay?”
“Sure, bubba.”
“I mean it!”
You smiled at his insistence, his eyebrow knit together in seriousness. “Okay. Meet me outside when you’re done.”
“Yes ma’am!” He nodded, spinning back to his keepsakes and adding as an afterthought, “wanna go see a moving picture?”
You gave him an amused look, trying not to laugh. “Yeah, Stevie. I’d love to go see a movie with you.”
He blushed, the tips of his ears turning bright red. “Movies. Right.”
“Don’t worry about it, Steve. It’s endearing.” You winked at him as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Now hurry up. I wanna get out there before it gets too hot.”

Field Trip
A/N: I’ve been working on this pic for a while, I hope you guys like it :)
Pairing: Jake Sim x fem! reader
Word count: 5.2k
Genre: fluff, high school au
Warning: mentions of virginity loss and porn, occasional swearing, nothing else I think
“How many shirts should I take?” Jake asks you through your phone.
“Uhm, we’re there for three days so take four just incase.” you reply and you pack your suitcase as well.
You two were preparing for your five day field trip to New York which was happening tomorrow.
You packed your favorite jeans and hoodies and even a dress just in case. You can't help but romanticize the hell out of New York after being stuck in this small town all your life.
“How many pairs of underwear should I take?” he asks again and you giggle. He’s like a kid sometimes.  “How many times do you think you’ll change your underwear?” you say while sitting on your suitcase to get it to zip closed.
“Probably three but I’ll take four just in case.”
“What a quick learner.” you say and you hear him scoff.
Jake has been your best friend since elementary school when you scraped your knee during tag and he took you to the nurse’s office. He’s been a sweetie since day one.
“I doubt I’m gonna get any sleep tonight,” you sigh. “I’m too riled up.”
“Same,” he sighs. “I wonder how many flashers we’ll run into.”
You laugh. “Why is that the first thing you think of you creep.”
“Hey now,’ he chuckles. “I thought that was the stereotype.”
You hop onto your bed and pick your phone up, it looks like Jake’s doing the same. All you can see are his eyes and a bit of his nose bridge. His dark hair has started to grow out and it was poking at his eyelids.
Your phone pings with a text from Jake. It’s a horrendous screenshot of you climbing over your phone to get into bed. You gasp.
“I’ll kill you.” you tell him as he’s holding in his laugh. “I will do it.”
His laugh bursts out of his throat, jolly and warm. “Why I love it.”
“I hate you so much. Delete it.”
“No way,” he bunches his brows. “You have an entire photo album dedicated to bad pictures of me.”
“And I also have an entire album dedicated to good pictures of you.” you roll your eyes.
“You do?” he asks. “That’s a bit fangirly of you.”
“Me? A fangirl? Maybe Madeline but not me.” you scoff.
“Madeline?” his voice perks up. “She likes me?”
“Yeah, I thought you knew this.” you swear that you’ve brought this up before. Maybe he just forgot.
“Nuh-uh.” he says.
“Well...” you say. “do you like her back.”
“I mean she’s nice but,” he hesitates. “not really.”
“Why not? She’s smart and super pretty. I'm so jealous of her hair.” you say. Madeline was a tan ginger girl with curly fiery hair down to the small of her back.
“You have nice hair.” he says nonchalantly.
You touch it and rub it between your fingers. “It’s whatever.”
He scoffs. “You’re too hard on yourself all the time.”
“I’m a teenage girl, I can’t help it.” You defend yourself, but he isn’t lying.
“I’m bored, can I come over?” he says suddenly.
“Tonight? We have school tomorrow.” you reply.
“Maybe I’ll just sleep over.” he says while turning over in his bed. “I don’t think our parents would care.”
Sleepover? You two hadn’t done that since you turned eleven.
“Where would you sleep?” you ask him, already imagining how this would go.
“I don’t know on the floor.” he shrugs.
“I’m not letting you sleep on the floor I’ll feel bad.” you argue.
“I don’t care, I’m the one who suggested it, plus I miss you dude, I wanna hang out.” he says and you smile.
“I saw you on Friday.”
“Yeah, a whole two days ago.” he gets up off his bed. “Okay I’ll be there in ten.”
“What-” you start but he cuts you off.
He brings the camera up close to his face and he flashes you a smile. “Bye!” he hangs up.
Your palms feel a bit sweaty and you brush them off on your pants. Why am I nervous? You guys have had plenty of sleepovers before but the rest of the boys were always there, probably passed out from beer or a sugar crash.
You tidy your room up a bit and prepare a little blanket bed on the floor right next to your actual bed.
You hear knocking at the door right when you expected, Jake was hardly ever late.
“Hola~” he says as he walks in with his backpack on. He takes his shoes off before skipping over to your room. You giggle to yourself.
He falls back onto your bed with a big sigh. “I missed being here.”
“Why? There’s nothing cool here. Your house is way cooler.” you say and he smiles.
“Well I can’t deny that,” he shrugs and you punch him in the arm. “you’re the one who said it.”
“We get it rich boy.” you roll your eyes and sit down next to him.
“I’m just playing,” he sits up. “you know that.”
“I hope you showered after practice,” you say. “I don’t want you stinking up my bed.”
He whips his head to you, looking a little bit offended. “I am very clean alright? Here smell my hair.” he shoves his head into your face.
You let out a strangled noise and try to push him away. “Okay, okay!”
“No smell it,” he keeps his hair up in your face, it’s tickling your nose. “smells like mangos right.”
Admitedly, he's right. It smells like mangos.
“Yes it does,” you squeak out. “now please respect my personal bubble.” you spread your arms out and create an imaginary bubble between you two. He tries to tug at your arm but you bellow in a robot voice. “PERSONAL BUBBLE PERSONAL BUBBLE.”
“Fine, fine.” he falls back onto your bed again, laughing. “Lets watch something.”
You follow suit and tug your laptop into your lap.
“Hold on,” you get up and close your window, it was starting to get too cold.
You shimmy under your covers and pull up Netflix.
“Scary movie?” you click on the horror section.
“Sure but you probably won’t be able to sleep.” he teases and you roll your eyes.
“That was years ago.” you start to scroll through the movies.
“Mhm, and I’m never letting you live it down.” he says with pride.
During freshman year the gang decided to go to Jay’s house to watch It together and it freaked you out so much that you went to sleep in the boys room rather than the guest room.
You click on Hush, a movie you’ve been avoiding because it’s about one of your biggest fears, a home invasion.
“I thought you hated this movie.” Jake says, crossing his arms.  “I do, but I need to face my fears eventually right?” you click on it and get up to turn the lights off.
Jake soon gets under the covers as well. You both cringe and slap each other every time your feet touch.
“Yo yo yo yo watch out!” Jake whispers and pulls his hood over his head, something you both do when you’re nervous. You weren’t wearing a hoodie so you settled with a spare blanket and draped it over yourself like a cloak.
“Oh shit,” you whisper. “look behind you!” you yell at the main character.
By the end of the movie both of your bodies are stiff and sore from being so tense for two hours straight.
“I thought she was gonna die.” you sigh and you shut your laptop.
“Nah, they couldn’t kill the main girl.” Jake says, comfy and cuddled up in your duvet. “She was so smart.”
“Yeah she was.” you yawn and then kick Jake in the side. “Go to your bed.”
He groans. “It’s warm here though.”
“Go and I’ll make pancakes tomorrow.” you say.
He perks up and follows your orders.
You relax into your mattress, but you miss his warmth next to you. You ignore that.
Your alarm goes off at 6:30 and Jake sleeps right through it.
“How the hell does he get up in the morning?” you whisper. “Probably Leila.”
He’s sleeping on his side, cuddling a stuffed animal he must’ve stolen from your bed while you were asleep.
You stretch your back before washing up.
Jake’s POV
My serene sleep is interrupted by pokes at my shoulder.
“Get up poop.” she says. I almost forgot that I was at her house. I crack my eyes open to find her crouching next to me.
“Good morning.” I croak out.
“You stole ginger.” she points at the stuffed bunny in my arms.
“I was lonely.” I say before sitting up and rubbing my eyes. “What time is it?”
“7:30,” she says holding in a giggle. “go wash up so we can eat.”
“What’s so funny?” I ask her as she walks away. “You’ll see when you look in the mirror.” she says.
My eyes widen. Did she draw a dick on my forehead or something? I thought we swore to never do that.
I scramble to her bathroom to meet some gnarly bedhead. I have no clue how guys have good messy hair, my hair is either boring and flat or just messy.
“Jesus.” I say to myself and try to run my head under the sink.
I brush my teeth and secretly use her facial cleanser.
“So fancy.” I whisper while lathering it up on my face.
I can already hear her voice in my head when I’m drying off saying “don't forget to put lotion on, and face lotion, not body.”
A stack of pancakes is waiting for me in the kitchen, just as she promised.
“Thank you mom.” I say to her before digging in.
She sits across from me with her own plate of flap jacks. She looks so pretty this early in the morning. Her face is fresh and sparkly and her eye bags somehow just make her prettier. It’s cloudy out and I can tell she’s cold she way her body is bundled up in her chair.
I still remember the moment I realized that I liked her. It was seventh grade and we were at our town’s annual fair. She got a bit sick after a ride with a lot of loopdey loops so I stayed behind with her while the rest of the boys continued to go on every ride they pleased. She told me to go with them and that she didn’t want me to miss out but I said that it was fine and that I liked hanging out with her anyway. She smiled her bright smile at me and rested her head on my shoulder for a moment. Then she threw up on my shoes. Like projectile cotton candy, funnel cake, and other miscellaneous fair food vomit. And I didn’t even get that mad, I was more concerned for her. After that I figured I liked her, because if it were Jay I would’ve beat him up.
“Did you have any nightmares?” I ask her and she shakes her head.
“Nah, I dreamt that Sunghoon married a dolphin. It was weird.” she sighs.
I choke on my pancakes. “A dolphin?”
“Yeah,” she laughs. “his name was Jerry.”
“And it was a guy too?” I hold my chest, trying not to choke.
“Don’t judge their interspecies homosexual marriage. It was beautiful.” she laughs and takes a big gulp of water.
I’m almost crying at this point. “Best dream ever. I can’t wait to tell Sunghoon this.”
“No!” her eyes widen. “He’s gonna think I fantasized about it or something.”
“What?” I cock an eyebrow. “Everyone knows that dreams are uncontrollable sometimes.” “Still it’s weird. Imagine if someone told you that I dreamt of you marrying a dolphin. It’s be weird.” she says through a mouth of pancake.
“Did they have kids?” I cackle,
“I don’t know. How would that even work?”
“Maybe they had a surrogate or something.” I suggest.
“Oh god,” she shakes her head, smiling. “we need to stop. I feel like I'm violating him.”
“Alright, alright.”
“Should I wear this shirt or this sweater.” she asks me as we’re getting ready in her room.
“Sweater. It’s probably gonna be cold.” I say while tugging socks on.
“Shit you’re right. Then I won’t be able to wear this dress.” she holds up a little dress that flows out a bit from the waist.
“Bring it anyway and maybe you can wear it for a second so I can take pictures for you.” I suggest and she smiles.
“Good idea.”
We both settle of hoodies and jeans and say goodbye to her parents before hopping in my car.
We get to school right when people start getting on the bus to the airport. We throw our luggage into the bottom carrier and get in line.
“Yo!” I hear a familiar voice call as we get on. “We saved seats for you guys.”
Jay, Sunghoon, Heeseung, Jungwon, Sunoo, and Niki have already gotten comfortable in the back of the bus. Niki was already asleep. Y/N couldn’t help but pat his head before settling down next to Jungwon. The bus wasn’t a school one but one of those fancy ones they bring out once a year.
I sit down next to Sunghoon and dap him up.
“What’s up.” I say while putting my backpack down by my feet.
“Tired.” he says. “Valentina kept me up all night.”
I raise an eyebrow and he smirks.
“For real?” I ask and he nods. “No way.”
“Yeah way.” he says and holds up a fist.
I fist bump him and pat him hard on the shoulder.
“You’re a man now Sunghoon.” I congratulate him and he snickers.
“What does that make you then?”
“I’m taking my time alright? I’ll get there eventually.” I say, a little embarrassed.
I look back to check out what she’s doing when we start to drive off. She’s fast asleep with her cheek pressed against Jungwon’s shoulder. He looks like he’s about to dose off too. Cute.
Sunghoon and I watch a couple episodes of Death Note before we arrive at the airport. Sunoo shakes Y/N and Jungwon up.
She’s still groggy as we walk into the airport and grabs onto my arm for leverage. My heart jumps a little. It’s not often that we touch despite how much I think about touching her. I could stare at her back all day. She could ignore me for the rest of my life and I’d still be happy to be in her presence. Mental note to all of you: do NOT let your feelings get to this point.
Soon we’re on the plane and she chooses to sit next me. I silently celebrate. Sunoo and Sungoon behind us, Heeseung and Niki next to us, and Jay and Jungwon in front of us. Sunoo pokes his head over her seat.
“Do you have chapstick I can borrow.” he asks with his blonde hair flopping over his forehead.
She digs into her bag and hands him a small tin of lip balm.
“Thank you!” he says and she nods.
“Are you that tired?” I ask her.
“Mhm,” she sighs and shuts her eyes. “I forgot to drink coffee this morning.”
I put in my AirPods and start to watch Lady Bird. She looks over and takes an AirPods out of my ear.
“I wanna watch too.” she say and puts it in her own.
We take off for the six hour trip and soon Y/N is sound asleep. Her head kept dropping forward so I pushed it up and pulled it to rest on my shoulder. This was not on purpose. I can’t help but snap a picture of her and add it to the good pictures of her album. She looks so peaceful and comfortable and gorgeous. I lay my head on hers for a moment before continuing the movie.
Y/N’s POV
After two hours of unsatisfying sleep, and hour of gossip with Sunoo, and three hours of chit chat with Jake you finally arrive. You sit up and stretch as best as you can in the plane. You pull you backpack onto my back and get you luggage down from the overhead bin. It’s already five p.m. when we get off and your stomach is growling.
We take another bus to the hotel and you can’t help but admire the city life as we drive there.
You’re roomed with two other girls at the hotel but you don’t even bother unpacking. You know you’re gonna be in the boys’ room anyway.
Mrs. Gilroy gave us tonight to do whatever we wanted as long as we were back at the hotel by ten p.m.
You sneak into Jake, Jay, and Sunghoon’s room as soon as you can. And when you get there, it’s already a mess.
“Good lord.” you say as you’re met with clothes all over the floor and mini bottles of liquor on the beds.
“You guys are drunk already?” you scrunch your nose and drop your stuff in a corner of the room.
“No.” Sunghoon says to you lazily with a little smirk on his face. You can’t help but giggle. Sunghoon is pretty adorable when he’s drunk.
“Are you drunk too?” you turn to Jake and he shakes his head. His pink cheeks give him away though. “You’re all bad liars.”
“Lets go swim.” he says excitedly.
“There’s a pool? I didn’t bring a swim suit.” you say, bummed.
“Can we go later, I’m hungry.” Jay says and you agree.
“Me too.”
Jake tugs at your arm. “Come on~ we can order room service or ask Jay to get us something.”
“We can get you guys something.” Sunghoon says, pulling a hoodie over his head.
“Please?” Jake looks at you with shiny eyes. He’s and adorable drunk too.
You purse your lips and sigh. “Fine. But I don’t have anything to wear.”
“Just wear shorts and a shirt.” Jake says as he tugs his swim trunks out of his suit case.
“I didn’t bring shorts because you said it was gonna be cold.” you complain, crossing your arms.
“Uhm,” he stops for a moment. “you can wear my boxers then.”
You raise your eyebrows. “Huh?”
“What?” he looks at you. “They’re basically shorts. And they’re clean.”
You hesitate but then comply as always. He tosses you a pair of black Calvins.
You steal one of Jay’s shirts and make your way into the bathroom to change. You’re wearing a simple cotton bralette which should be fine for the pool. You bundle up the rest of your old clothes and stick them behind your backpack before heading out with Jake.
The pool is empty and huge and is only light by the lights inside.
“It’s so cold.” you rub at your arms as Jake sets your towels down at a seat.
“I’m sure the pool is heated.” he says and dips a toe in. “Yeah, it’s warm.” Before you can even reply, he tugs his shirt off and canon balls in. You turn your face to avoid getting splashed.
“How is it?” you call out as he emerges from the water. He shakes his hair around like a dog.
“It’s warm so come in, you look funny standing there.” he teases and you roll your eyes. You kick your sneakers off and try to make a peaceful jump in but you didn’t realize you were in the deep end. It takes you a moment to get your senses together and swim to the surface.
“Why is it deep?” you say, a bit out of breath.
Jake giggles at you. “Remember when we used to play and you were the mermaid and I was the-”
“Turtle companion.” you finish his sentence. “Yes, as clear as day.”
“Why couldn't I be a mermaid too? Why was a I a lame turtle.” he fusses.
“I’m sorry okay?” you laugh. “I was a mean child.”
“Yeah you were. I’ll never forgive you for shoving that clump of dirt in my mouth.”
You burst out laughing, flailing your arms in the water to try to stay afloat. “You deserved it!”
“I did not!” he protests.
“You cheated in handball! It was one hundred percent deserved.” you say, swimming over to him.
“I barely cheated!” he calls out, starting to swim away from you.
“Barely? I would’ve won and been champion of our grade if you hand’t pulled that shit!” you say, still laughing and swimming after him.
“Why are you chasing me?” he says while hopping around the pool where he can touch the ground.
“So I can shove another clump of dirt in your mouth.” you try your best to get him but your heavy cotton shirt is holding you back. You don’t let it stop you though.
You finally get to him and tug his arm. He yells as you push him underwater. He finds the ground though, and shoots up soon after.
“Are you trying to drown me?” he looks at you, astonished but giggly.
“Maybe.” you shrug before tackling him again. It had been a while since you two wrestled like this.
You’ve got him under water for a bit until he finds your rib cage and plunges you in. It’s hard to hold your breath while you’re laughing. You feel around for him and pinch his thigh only semi hard. He lets you go after that.
“I won!” you celebrate with your fists in the air.
“You used pain, that isn't fair.” he rubs at the area that you pinched.
“Don’t be a sore loser. I won fair and square.” you cross your arms.  “Fine.” he admits his defeat. “that pinch hurt though, come kiss it better.”
Your face twists. “Nuh uh.” you say plainly.
“Please?” he asks. “I will drown myself right now.” You laugh at him.
“I will do it!” he insists.
“Okay, okay! I’m not to going to kiss your leg you weirdo but I’ll give you a hug.” you float over to him and wrap your arms around his shoulders. “I even pinched you lighter than I normally would.”
“I’m sensitive.” he says into your neck and you giggle.
His arms feel so right around your waist and you struggle to decide when to let go, so you just don’t, and neither does he. He holds you decently tight and you feel him pat your back.
You’ve hugged plenty of times before but it felt a little different this time. Probably because you’re pressed up against his bare skin. It makes you feel a bit sheepish.
You pull away from him. “Feel better now?”
He nods with a smile. His cheeks are pink, but this time it’s not from the liquor.
Jake’s POV
I can’t help but feel disappointed when she lets go of me.
I shouldn’t have patted her back that's a dad thing to do.
Her makeup has started to run down her face which makes me giggle.
“What?” she asks.
“Your mascara is making you look crazy.” I say and her hands fly to her face.
“Shit I forgot I had it on.” she attempts to wipe it away but all it does is smear it across her face.
“Here,” I say and float over to her. “I’ll help you.” this was not on purpose.
I hold her face as gently as I can in my hands and rub the runny mascara off with my thumbs. I dip my fingers into the water to get all of the bits off.
I want to kiss her so badly, but I know that I’ll never do it. Sometimes I get irritated at myself for not being able to confess. I think Jay and Sunghoon get irritated about it too.
“You talk about her all the time man just ask her out.”
I don't know why I can’t do it. If she rejects me she’ll do it nicely and things would go back to normal pretty soon. But I don’t think I could live knowing that my feelings would never be reciprocated. Sometimes I get a feeling that she likes me too but I can never be too sure.
“All gone.” I say and she thanks me.
She lets her self float on her back. She has a small smile on her face and she’s so pretty I could cry. There have been multiple times where I nearly cried over how much I like her.
“What are your thinking about?” I ask.
“You know I never know how to answer that.” she bleats. “My mind always goes blank when you ask.”
“Well try to remember what you were thinking about then.”
“Us.” she says plainly.  “Us?” I questioned. “What about us?” “I don’t know, just how I met you guys and how happy I am to be friends with you all.” she says.
Oh. She meant all of us.
“Yeah me too.” I agree, trying not to sound down. “Who’s your favorite?”
She snorts. “I don’t have a favorite.”
“Of course you do,” I say. “and it better be me.”
“Why would it be you?” she jeers.
I frown. “Because we met first.”
“I’m kidding, of course you’re my favorite.” she admits.
“And why is that?” I egg her on and she rolls her eyes.
“Because we met first.”
I sigh. “Is that all?”
“Mhm.” she says.
Y/N’s POV
You’re met with InNOut that Sunghoon and Jay got and also a room full of teenage boys. The younger ones were laying on their stomachs on a bed together, watching something on a laptop. Sunghoon and Jay were trying to watch t.v. You say trying because of the furious clicking on the remote.
“What the hell are you guys trying to do?” you and Jake plop onto the one empty bed.
“Trying to find the porn.” Jay grumbles.
“Infront of the children?” you look over at the younger ones.
“They don’t care they’re watching YouTube.” he says, still clicking.
You take a bite of your burger. “You have an endless arena of porn on your phone why do you want the t.v. one?”
“The t.v. makes it special.” Sunghoon says.
“Weird.” you mutter to yourself.  “They’re probably gonna make you pay for it too.” Jake chimes in.
“Do you think it’ll go to the school’s credit card or whatever?” Jay asks with wide eyes.
“I don't know but if it does they’ll know it’s from our room.” he says through a full mouth.
You grab pajamas out of your bag and head to the bathroom to shower.
You come out feeling fresh and the younger ones have gone back to their room now.
“My turn,” Jake says, walking into the bathroom.
You sit next to Sunghoon on his bed and start scrolling through your phone.
“Should I get this sweater or this one.” he holds his phone up to you and shows you light blue sweater and a black one.
“Second one.” you say.
“Really?” he questions. “I feel like it’ll make me look emo.”
“You should become emo honestly. It would look good.” you reply and he chuckles.
“You’d have to help me with my eyeliner every morning.”
“Yeah,” you giggle “wait can I do it right now? I wanna see how you’d look.”
“Right now?” he cocks a brow and you nod. “Okay but don’t give me raccoon eyes.”
“I won’t I won’t.” you rush over to your bag and bring your make clutch to the bed.
“Hold still.” you tell him as you give him smokey winged liner.
“It tickles.” he says, trying not to blink too much.
“Beauty is pain.” you clean up the wing with your nail.
In a couple minutes you’re done. “Finished." you say.
“Lemme see.” he grabs a hand mirror from your clutch and holds it up to his face. “Hold on. This looks kinda good.”
“Right?” you had to admit it; he looked gorgeous.
“Why are you so pretty?” Jay says from his bed.
Soon Jake came out of the shower and it was hard to deny how good looking he is especially with his damp hair. How could someone make a t-shirt and sweats look so good? He dumps his laundry by his bag.
“Does Sunghoon have makeup on?” he asks, settling onto his bed.
“Yeah doesn’t it looks nice?” you ask and he agrees.
“Y/N are you gonna sleep here or in your room.” Jay asks.
“I thought I would just sleep on the floor here.” you suggest and he furrows his brows.
“No that’s mean. Share a bed with someone.”
“You should sleep with Jake.” Sunghoon elbows you in the side and you shoot him a dirty look. “We all know he wants you to anyway.”
“Fuck off Sunghoon.” Jake looks over at him with a piercing stare, a contrast to his pink cheeks.
“Is it okay if I do?” you ask him and he nods.
“Yeah for sure.”
Sunghoon snickers.
“I hate you.” Jake scowls.
After a couple hours of watching movies and horsing around it’s nearly midnight and your eyes are getting heavy.
You crawl under the covers and scroll on your phone a bit before trying to sleep. Despite how tired you are it’s hard to sleep with the boys chatting and snickering to each other.
“Can you guys quiet down?” you ask them.
“Sorry.” Jay says.
After maybe an hour of sleep, you feel someone get on the bed. Probably Jake, you think to yourself. His little sighs as he gets comfortable are cute.
“You awake?” he whispers.
“Mm?” you turn on your side to face him. “Yeah.”
“Cool.” he says. The room is dark but the moonlight helps you make out the outline of his face.
‘What’s up?” you ask.
“Nothin.” he says and you giggle.
“Okay weirdo. Go to bed.” you close your eyes, stilling facing him though.
“I’m not tired.” he says.
“Count sheep.”
“That never works for me.” he sighs. “Sing me to sleep.”
You try to slap him in the arm but you end up hitting his face. “Oh shit sorry!”
“Ow!” he whines. “Why do you keep hurting me?”
“It was an accident!” you whisper and rub at his cheek a bit.
“Now I actually deserve a hug.” he pouts and you roll your eyes.
“You are not five years old.”
“I still want the hug.” he says plainly and you sigh.
“Fine.” you scooch over to him and pull him into your chest. You pat his back. “There there. Better now?”
He shakes his head. “It still hurts.”
“You’re embarrassing yourself.” you scoff.
“I have no shame when it comes to your affection, you should know that by now.” he smiles.
You feel his arm fall over your waist and his hand slide up your back. It gives you goosebumps.
You’re cuddling with him. You guys are cuddling right now. You think to yourself. No you’re not, you’re just...hugging. Right?
Jake pulls away to look at you. “I need to tell you something.”
“Are you gonna say your mom again?” you ask and he shakes his head.
“No,” he says giggling. “it’s something for real.”
“Okay what is it?”
He takes a sharp inhale. “I like you.” he winces.
Your heart jumps a bit. “I know.”
“What?” he laughs.  “You’re very obvious about it.” you chuckle.  “Are you rejecting me?” he asks and you shake your head.
“I would never.” you pull him in by the back of neck and push your lips against his.

Previously
The sound of coins being step on quietly filled the cavern, as someone pick up the old book on the ground and return back to sleep.
“So, you don’t want to control my body?” Mammon asks the beast reflected in the lake.
No....I have seen how your brothers treated you, and frankly I think you should fight back!
Mammon pouts at him, not likely the way his saying this.
“Hey! They might be a pain in the ass, but that all family are. Sure, we are at each other’s throats, but we have each others back when we need the most.” The beast huffs at that.
Name one time, you all agree to do something!
“The reaper’s cave”
Hm?
“We might not say it out loud, but we truly wanted to help Beel in anyway possible. Hell, it was a miracle that y/n was there. If was for them giving some of their candle to Beel, we would have made it a regular thing to go back to that cave for Beel.” He starts playing around with his ring, to distract himself from missing his brothers.
It seems that the human choice you out of your brothers why is that?
“y/n is not just a human! And why would you care if y/n choose me?”
I don’t know Mammon, why least you been repeating it in your head over and over causing me to wake up!
Suddenly Mammon felt a lump in his throat, he wants to respond but hesitant for a moment, then he spat it out.
“I haven’t done any of that”
Really? Let me refresh your memories
The last part the beast voice changes into his voice as he starts talking into it.
“I failed as protector and a guardian!” “They deserve better than me!” “Why they have to choose me to love” “Why settle with a weak and pathetic demon like me” “I SHOULDN’T BE SECOND OF THE AVATARS!?!”
Half way of the beast speech Mammon covered his ears, shut his eyes, and grinned his teeth with a snarl coming out of him. But he just keeps repeating his thoughts over his mind. Until Mammon scream.
“OKAY I GET IT!” he drops down it all fours as pant like he was exhausted. “I-I can’t be the demon they all want me to be”
Because you keep letting them to fill your mind with those thoughts, but what you should be doing is SHOW THEM!
Mammon looks back to the lake and asks “What do you mean?”
Kill The demon who attack our mate
“I can’t do that; the bastard knows and what I can do. Even if want to kill him, he’ll just move one location to the other”
Not unless you change into me…...
“I can’t…...” Mammon clenches his hands, digging his talons into his palms drawing blood as his body to tremble in the thought of changing back to that form the memories flood back in his mind, all the fights, the wounds which heals but the mental scars remain, and watching Levi and Asmo change right Infront of him. Their scream of agony rings in his ear as tears and blood drip down in to the ground as he starts to sob.
Are you scare after killing Basto, you’ll go and killing your brother while they’re in those forms?
Mammon quickly nods while his looking down at his bleeding hands.
You don’t have to worry about that
The beast spoke with a softer tone causing Mammon to look back at the lake.
“Wh?”
Look you and I are the same being, when I tell you that all you have to do is stay away from them for a week or two, to have better control over yourself and your instinct you might be the first one out of the seven of you to able to turn into your demonic form without the resist of killing your brothers.
Mammon is done founded about the beast just said.
“How are you sure that I can do that?”
Simple you and Asmo are the only ones that didn’t attack y/n when you get angry and threaten them. And you are the only one who never use violence against them by changing into your demon form. You might be a hothead but you never or will raise a hand to your brothers or to our mate.
Mammon is left speechless, the thing that he been scare of knows him well to the point of trusting him for being himself. He was right as much he hates being the first one to be targeting with name calling because of his sin, is not like his the only one, Asmo calling him a horn dog, Levi with his weird obsession with things and getting emotional, Beel with eating all the time, Belphie with out of nowhere naps and sleeps, Satan with his anger issues, and Lucifer being too proud for his own good.
Their demons now, is something they should be use to. But him have the most control out of the seven of them, makes him fill warm inside. That he should be proud of, and why he should let his brothers tell him that he has no self-control when anger.
But his sin oh yeah! He can’t argue with that, I mean he was willing to help Solomon to forge a pact with Lucifer for the Midas crest, and immediately takes all back when Asmo points out that once he gets the crest, he won’t able to touch you due to the crest make everything he touch turns into gold. It had to take Asmo to point it out, who just said it to openly admit that it will be less competition for him. To realize that he could have made one of his biggest mistakes of his life, for what gold!
Looking back at his hands and/or talons then his wings, looks back at his newly grown tail. It too late, he’s far along of the transformation as he his. If he agrees with the beast’s plan, its going to take some time, means that you need to go back.
“Hey, before I agree to yer plan, let me take y/n back to my brothers”
Mammon…. their better with us then back with your brothers
“Yer crazy!?! What if I kill them!”
MAMMON The last thing we want is our MATE DYING. AGAIN! I’m still a little mad at Sloth for what he did! He’s luckily that y/n forgave him, because if they didn’t rest assure, I would’ve wakened up that day!
Mammon flinch and snarl at just remember that day. Holding your past self in his arms as you choke on your blood causing Belphie. If he’s being honest with himself, sometimes he gets piss off whenever Belphie took a nap at your lap and asks pat his head like, he didn’t try to kill you long ago.
That reflex he just did, get angry when you get hurt or someone trying to hurt you. Maybe his beast does have a point.
“Okay, I’ll do it……I’ll-I’ll change, IF!! You make sure that y/n safety is my-our one goal! Go it!”
Even with a beak the beast smirk at Mammon
You have my word…… also you might feel A LOT of pain!
“Huh?...... Wh?”
Before Mammon can say anything else, he felt a pain in his abdomen, he wants to scream but he bites his lips muffling the scream. As he dug his talons into the ground dragging his hands closer to him. Then the pain slowly got worst by each heart beat and panting.
Soon the he couldn’t take it anymore and let out an agnosies scream.
Then a faith voice calls out to him.
“……Mammon…...”
“Mammon!”
Mammon wakes up from the dream by someone grooming his tail, he slowly opens his eyes and lifted up his head and let out a wake-up yawn. And turn his head to whoever is touching his tail.
His eyes narrows and he groans at the sight who it was.
“Morning Mammon, have a good night sleep” Asmo flash he cheerful smile as he fixes the feathers of his tail. “When is the last time you check your tail feathers, look at them some of them are uneven and others stuck together see….” He points at feathers with the vane split apart with dry blood.
“Oi! I didn’t have a chance to clean myself and beside y/n usually brushes and cleans my feathers so, back off” Mammon squawks at Asmo who just giggle at him.
Right, no one can hear him, well no one expect Lucifer who is close to what he is now. He just has to have you use gestures and his eyes to convey what he’s thinking.
“What a pain in the ass, ya all don’t listen to me when I was normal. Now I have to deal with this crap!?! Tch whatever, the herd must be at the lake at this time. Might as well get some food……. Oh shit! Beel’s here…. Great……”
“I know that you’re not a morning demon, so I know that your cranky. But maybe not try to be loud so you won’t wake up y/n” that snap Mammon out of his train of thought.
Surprise to what Asmo said, Mammon looked down in his arms to see your sleeping form curled up next to his chest as you nuzzle your cheek into in with a smile on your face.
He faces softens as gently rub your face with his, as a soothing cooing and purring comes off from him, causing you to let out a satisfying hum as you fall more asleep.
Then Mammon reaches out with beak for a thick fabric from the nest. Then he slowly and gently lay you on the nest and place the fabric under your head serving as a pillow as you continue to sleep.
Then he stood up leave the nest as Asmo let go of his tail and gazing at his brother’s action. Once out of the nest Mammon stretches bending down then stand back straight shake body ruffle his feathers and once finish the feathers fixes themselves as Mammon being his daily routine beginning with leaving the cave. And Asmo got up and follow his big brother.
“I-I don’t believe it. There’s no SIGNAL HERE!!!” Levi is basically reaching for the havens on top of the tree trying to get a signal for his D.D.D, but to no avail.
“Levi! Get down from there” Lucifer yells at Levi causing to flinch almost letting of the branch he was holding to keep himself balance.
From afar Satan and Belphie watches the two older brothers, with Beel who is cook breakfast inside the cave.
“Its just me or is Lucifer losing~”
“His cool? Yes, I’m all for it” Satan is gleefully smile at the sight of Lucifer completely abandoning all of his calmed and serious demeanor, for an anger, short tempered and animalistic one.
Then suddenly they heard talons being drag through rock behind them, they turn around to see Mammon walking out from the cavern and heading outside with Asmo not far behind him.
“Mammon, your awake you got to see this Lucifer is blowing a casket at Levi~” Mammon just keep on walking out ignoring Satan.
“Wait where you going? Breakfast is about to start” Beel got up from he sits next to the campfire and chase after Mammon.
Once outside, flap his wings and start flying, grabbing the attention of Lucifer and Levi.
“MAMMON!?!” Lucifer calls out to him, as he flew after him grabbing Levi’s arm towing along.
As Levi scream for help fade, Satan look at Asmo with a questionable look on his face.
“What did you do”
“Hey! Don’t look at me like that. I was just cleaning the feathers in his tail; I mean you saw him covered in blood of that bastard. You would have done the same thing” Asmo huffs and walk back inside.
“Oh, before you go, Lucifer was looking for the book that he used. Have you seen it?” but Asmo shook his head, not even looking at Satan as he went in to Help Beel with breakfast.
“Clearly one of us is lying about the book” Belphie said it looking at Satan.
“Obviously, but the question is who is lying”

From the beginning to the very end.
Seeing the one you love fall for someone else hurts.
Pairing: Diluc X GN reader (unrequited), mentioned Kaeya x reader (not focused on) Words: 3.3K Warnings/ tags: Alcohol/ drinking mention, unrequited love, reader drinks to cope at one point, general angst. a/n: This was requested by anon. I’ve taken the prompt and altered it a bit, Kaeya and Diluc are both emotionally complicated men *sigh* Someone help them.
Your arrival into Diluc’s life is with all the grace of a baby fawn attempting to stand. Choppy. Awkward. A tad pitiable.
It’s a Friday night at Angel’s Share. The worst ones to be bartender, and precisely why Diluc always drags himself into town to suffer for a few hours. It’s the days where the knights, both seniors and new recruits, gather to spend their weekly wages of mora. He knows the tradition well, after his time with the knights. He used to always sit in the back corner with Kaeya, the two giggling as they drank non-alcoholic cider.
…but the past is the past, and he refuses to dwell on it any further.
They trickle in sometime around 9pm. They’re easy to spot. Uniforms too pristine, armor too shiny. He watches as wide-eyed recruits alongside experienced knights file into the reserved table at the back.
The brave one is sent from the flock to the bar, to order drinks for the table. Diluc gives you his best intimidating stare, arms crossed over his chest. You fiddle with the front of your uniform as you approach the bar, nervously shifting from foot to foot.
“Hello Sir, uh, could I have uhm…” you take a second to count on your fingers. “Ten drinks, please?”
Well, at least you can get your sentence out. (Sawyer, one of the new recruits from a few months back, mumbled everything. It took Diluc ten minutes to figure out what he wanted.) “What kind?”
“Oh…the regular kind?”
He could make this easier on you, but he decidedly doesn’t. “There is no regular kind. Dandelion wine? Lamp-Grass cider?”
“Uh, ten glasses of dandelion wine, please.”
He raises a brow. “Everyone is of age, even the recruits?”
“Oh, yes, the younger ones’ curfew ended an hour ago.”
One quick glance over proves your truth. Fine. He gets the drinks ready quite easily. It’s just pouring wine from the barrels into their tankers. Once he has them on a tray, he says, “Ten thousand Mora.”
“Oh…uh…” you stare at your feet in embarrassment, apparently just realizing that yes drinks cost mora. “I-“
“If you can’t pay,” he starts, annoyance seeping into his voice. “Then I suggest you get out.”
Maybe that was a bit too harsh. Your jaw clenches. Your hands tighten into fists. Diluc thinks you’re about to burst into tears or run out the front door when a hand lands on your shoulder.
“Not to worry, I’ll cover the costs for this.”
Of course. He’d be here, of all nights.
You look to your saviour, lighting up. “Oh, thank you, Captain Kaeya.”
Kaeya smiles amicably, patting your shoulder. “My pleasure. Join the others, I’ll carry the drinks there shortly.”
You hurry off to the table, not one to disobey your superior’s orders. Diluc and Kaeya are left alone at the bar, the former frowning, the later smiling.
Kaeya places a sack of mora on the counter. “Feel free to count it, every coin is in there.”
Diluc snatches it, tossing it under the cabinet. (Kaeya always pays in full. Either that or he purposely omits a single coin, just to fuck with him. But it’s not worth it for Diluc to count ten thousand coins individually.)
“Corrupting fresh recruits already, aren’t you?” Diluc says.
Kaeya chuckles dryly. “Why, Master Diluc, I’d never do such an atrocious thing.”
Kaeya picks up the tray before Diluc can make some sort of witty retort. “Now, I’ve got to amuse myself. Enjoy your night, Master Diluc.”
Kaeya remains out of his hair for the rest of the night. By all accounts, it’s a good thing, but tonight, it only makes Diluc moodier. Especially when he glances over at the knights table, spotting the captain’s arm strung over the back of your chair.
---
“What on earth are you doing?”
You jump, turning to face Diluc, leaning against the nearby tree. He’d been patrolling the area for threats when he’d noticed you, swinging your sword about in the middle of Windrise. The fact that he’d managed to catch you by surprise unnerved him. (You were a knight; you’d need to learn to be alert.)
“Practicing, Master Diluc.” You wipe the sweat from your face with your shirt and Diluc quickly averts his eyes to a group of slimes slugging around the Anemo Arcon Statue. He’d have to deal with them later.
“Don’t the knights have a dedicated training area?” They do. He knows this, outside the city walls or on the northern shores of Cider Lake, he used to go there and take recruits when he was a captain, make them run up and down the sloping hills all afternoon in full armour.
“Ah, they do, yes, but I mostly prefer to train alone.”
Diluc chews on your words for a moment, before pushing off from the tree and striding towards you. “Hold your sword again.”
You hesitate, drawing your sword and holding it like you were doing previously.
Diluc covers his hands with yours, moving them along the sword. “Adjust your hands like this. You’ll have more force when you swing and you’re less likely to hurt yourself if you hit something solid.”
He steps back, allowing you to swing a few times in the air. “Use your chest more, not just your arms – good. Again.”
About an hour passes, with Diluc giving instructions, doing a very bad job of hiding his stares, and with you doing as he says. He doesn’t realize how long it’s been until you sheath your sword, and the sun has set over the horizon.
“I apologize, Master Diluc, but I’ve got to get back to the headquarters now.”
“Oh.” He says, stupidly. Of course, you’d have to leave, to go back to the knights, but that thought hadn’t crossed his mind. “I see, yes. I suppose you should.”
You bow respectfully. “Thank you for your help, you really are as sweet as Captain Kaeya says.”
He suppresses the growl that rises from his throat. Figures, Kaeya would call him that. “Mhm.”
You salute him, the standard knight’s salute. He nods his head as you start back towards Mondstadt, pondering why he decided to help you, until you fade from sight.
---
He swears, he doesn’t mean to keep meeting you like this.
He had been exploring an abandoned domain north of Wolvendom, looking for any members of the abyss order. Fortunately – or unfortunately, there hadn’t been anything but slimes and old artifacts inside, and he’d come out soaked head to toe with water.
He was starting up the path when he saw you huddled by an electro crystal, poking it with your sword and jolting back when it shocked you.
“…you can’t break those with normal attacks,” he says. “They’re elemental crystals.”
You turn around, not surprised by his sudden presence (good, you’re learning.) “You can break them?”
Arcons, do they not teach the knights anything anymore?
Instead of arguing, he simply demonstrates, calling flames to his claymore and slicing the rock. An explosion of pyro and electro occurs, shattering the crystal into purple chunks.
You gape at the crystals. “Wow, you’re amazing, Master Diluc.”
He flushes at your praise, coughing and adjusting his tie. “It’s nothing. What are you interested in with the crystals anyways?”
“Captain Albedo requested them. I guess I’ll have to get outrider amber to gather them, or klee, perhaps…'' you collect the chunks into a small bag, standing up and brushing the dust from your pants. “Thank you again, Master Diluc. You always seem to be helping me out a lot.”
“It’s no trouble,” he says, swallowing for a moment. His throat feels tight and his palms are sweating in his gloves.
You salute him. He nods. They’re your usual goodbyes, nowadays. He watches you march off, the crystals clinking around in your bag.
“Wait,” he splutters, the objection coming from his throat without thinking.
You turn around, waiting expectantly. Diluc swallows, again. (When did he get so warm?)
“Next time, please just call me Diluc.”
You blink carefully, then smile. “Alright, Diluc.”
The sound of his name on your tongue makes his heart race and sends electricity through his stomach.
(And not just because of the nearby electro crystals.)
---
Two days later, a bag of purple electro crystals appears at your doorstep in the Knight’s headquarters. There is no name from the sender, but you suspect who it is from the emblem of the dawn winery logo upon the bag.
You smile to yourself, then hurry to deliver the goods to Captain Albedo.
---
“Do you have a crush on someone, Master Diluc?”
He nearly drops his teacup in his lap, sputtering into his drink. Adeline doesn’t even flinch, handing him a handkerchief to wipe his mouth with. His owl preens herself on its stand, indifferent to her master’s squabbling.
“P-pardon?”
“I asked if you had a crush on anyone.”
“…what would make you consider that?”
She clears the table swiftly, shrugging. “You seem to be in good spirits. You’ve been smiling more, and you’re more pleasant.”
He frowns. “Are you suggesting I’m usually moody?”
Adelinde’s face remains blank. “Not at all, sir.”
She bows and leaves him to his thoughts and paperwork.
A crush. Ridiculous…he’s not a schoolboy. And besides, he hasn’t been acting differently. Sure, he’s taken more shifts on Friday night, and he’s been visiting Windrise more often in hopes of maybe running into a certain knight, but that doesn’t mean anything. It’s all justifiable.
His owl cocks her head at him, even she knows when he’s lying to himself.
“…don’t look at me like that.” He huffs, turning around in his desk, back facing the owl.
---
Once the thought is in Diluc’s head, he can’t get it out. It doesn’t help that over the next few months, your presence around him only amplifies his feelings.
Every breath you take, every little movement you make - it transfixes him. He feels drawn to you naturally, wanting to be closer to you, coming up with more and more ridiculous topic ideas just so he can hear you speak.
He feels happy. He begins looking forward to the next day and the next week, not apprehensive about what new problems might arise.
And just as soon as he’s settled into the norm, the world decides to rip it away from him.
---
The knights file into their usual spots on a friday night. Diluc greets them with the same, stiff nods, except this time, his scowl isn’t as deep, and the furrow in his brows is loose. For the knights coming to celebrate means that he might have a chance to see you.
And he does. Diluc can’t stop the way his lips turn upwards when the door swings open and you file in. You give a wave, he nods back.
He does his best to not stare as you socialize with the other knights - (there really are a lot of them here tonight. Even Captain Albedo is among them) - but he fails miserably. So much so that he forgets to serve the other patrons up front.
It’s a relief when you eventually wander over to the bar. You don’t even need to tell him your order anymore - he just gets to doing it immediately.
“Big celebration?” he asks.
You slide into the seat and smile. “I suppose you could say that.”
He raises a brow and pushes the drinks towards you, leaning on the bar. “Oh? Is it a knights secret I’m not privy to know about?”
You swat at him harmlessly and his breathing hitches at your chuckle. “No, not a secret. It’s just nice to celebrate for celebration's sake, you know?”
He does not, but nods anyways. “I suppose it is. In any case, you seem very happy.”
You cover your growing smile with your hand. “Do I?”
“Yes, did you get a promotion? Replace Kaeya as Cavalry Captain?”
“No! No, nothing like that…” you laugh and shake your head. “But Kaeya…”
He hadn’t expected his joke to actually hold some truth. He presses, “Kaeya?”
“Well, we -” you avert your gaze, eyes softening in bliss. “We’re um - a thing. Now.”
Diluc pales, nearly falling off the bar.
“Oh.”
“Yes...please keep it a secret, we don’t want anyone knowing just yet.”
Diluc’s head spins. It feels like a lump of coal is stuck in his throat. He swallows and tries to stop his breaths from becoming erratic.
“Congratulations… I hope-” his voice cracks and he clears his throat. “I wish the best for the both of you.”
“Thank you, Diluc.” you reach over and pat his hand. He barely conceals a flinch, wanting to rip it away. “
You walk back to the knights, and for the rest of the night, he operates on autopilot, picking at the remaining shattered pieces of his heart.
---
It hurts.
Rain and sweat get in his eyes. He ducks to avoid a swing of a club, swinging his fiery claymore in retaliation. He doesn’t know how long he’s been here, only that his hands are numb from gripping his weapon for so long. A long gash runs up his side, stinging each time he moves.
The ache in his chest hurts more.
How naive, how silly, to entertain the idea that you’d ever like him back.
Diluc closes his eyes, and consumes himself in violence once more.
---
He doesn’t frequent the bar for the next week. Enough to collect his thoughts. Enough to smother the pang of hurt he feels whenever he gazes at you.
He’s above this, above being debilitated by his emotions.
(He knows he is not.)
---
Things get better, as they always do. Things always go back to a level of normal. He returns to work at the bar. He returns to looking forward to your visits.
The front door swings open. He expectantly turns, smile dying on his face when he sees who’s entered.
“Jeez. You think I’ve just murdered someone how you’re looking at me,” Kaeya sighs.
“What do you want?” Kaeya’s the last person he wants to see. Especially since - since -
“Can’t I just drop by for a drink?” Kaeya takes his seat at the corner of the bar. Diluc resists the urge to throw the glass in his hand. He never gets to the point, always meandering about the issue, chatting about this or that until the other party is exhausted trying to humour him.
Not Diluc.
“You’re never here to just drink. Out with it.”
“…I was just wondering how you feel about our newest knight.”
He inhales through his teeth and sets the glass he was polishing down. Fine, if that’s the game Kaeya was going to play, he’d play along. “I think it’s improper for you to be engaged in a relationship with your subordinates.”
Kaeya grimaces, keeping his eye on the wood counter. “Do you say that because you care for workplace standards, or are you perhaps-”
“No.”
“ - jealous?”
The towl ignites in his hands. “Fuck off. Get out of my bar. Now.”
Kaeya sighs, but gets up from his seat, hands raised. “Alright, fine...but If it’s any consultation, I understand how you feel.”
“You don’t get to know where I’m coming from,” each word feels like acid down Diluc’s throat. “You don’t ever get to understand how I feel.”
Kaeya smiles sadly. “I know. And because of that, I’m not gonna come in the way between you two.”
Kaeya opens the door and waves before Diluc can question him. “Good night, master Diluc.”
The door shuts behind him as he leaves. Diluc tosses the towel in the trash, blood boiling underneath his skin.
---
He doesn’t see much of you or Kaeya for a week. (Which he supposes is good. If he saw Kaeya now, Barbados wouldn’t be able to stop him from getting into a fight.)
The next time he sees you is late one night, when most of the patrons have left. You look a mess, hair disheveled, feet dragging against the floor. You mumble your order to him before dragging yourself upstairs, one foot at a time.
Diluc brings what you requested up – one of his strongest liquors – to find you staring off into space. He sets your glass down gently, and you snap from your reprieve.
“Here’s your order. If you need anything…just let me know.”
You nod, keeping your eyes focused downwards. “Thank you, Diluc.”
His heart breaks at how defeated you sound. He returns to his post for the remainder of the night.
Never once does the cavalry captain come in. Diluc has a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
It’s many hours later when the tavern closes for the night. Diluc shucks on his coat and goes upstairs, finding you half-asleep on the table, empty glass clutched tight in your grasp.
He shakes you gently and you stir with a moan. “It’s closing time. Do you need help getting home?”
You laugh bitterly. “Where is ‘home’?”
Diluc wordlessly slips the glass from your hands. “Come on, let’s get you back to the knights headquarters.”
Exhausted, you relent, leaning on Diluc heavily as he escorts you out of Angel’s Share. The smell of alcohol is strong on both your breath and clothes. It makes Diluc’s nose wrinkle.
You stumble over stones and steps. The walk back to the knights headquarters takes twice as long as it normally would. Diluc doesn’t mind, instinctively activating his vision when he feels you shiver from the cold.
“I thought Kaeya loved me,” you say suddenly, resting your head on his shoulder. “He said he…”
Diluc doesn’t – can’t – say anything, not when the lump of guilt in his stomach threatens to tear him apart from the inside out.
---
Truthfully, he’d thought you would have left the Knights after that incident. It must have been beyond difficult - having to see the person who broke your heart every day.
But you don’t. Diluc already knew how determined and strong you are, and you prove to be stronger than he could have ever foresaw.
It’s rough. There are nights where you show up to the tavern, barely coherent and full of grief. But there are others where you show up with Albedo, or Amber, and he gets to see you smile again.
He observes you from afar, at windrise, training with Noelle, getting quicker and quicker with your sword each day.
The seasons come and go, snow falls and melts, and when the dandelions grow again, before he ever knows it, you’re a Captain yourself.
The tavern is full for your celebration. Wine flows freely - free of charge thanks to Diluc - and the air is abuzz with joyous conversation.
“My highest congratulations, Captain,” Diluc says, raising his own glass (non-alcoholic) in toast.
You clink cups with him, smiling in your new uniform. (You’re radiant, he thinks to himself). “I can’t thank you enough, Diluc...for everything. I’ve always seen you as one of my closest friends.”
Friends. The word cuts deeply into his heart. Yes, friends. But being friends is something that he is ok with. He can watch you thrive, watch you live your life, he can keep your presence in his life, a small candle flickering in the dead of winter.
He knows your heart is elsewhere, he sees it in your eyes whenever you see the colour blue, or whenever the scent of death-after-noon waffs through the air. Your grief isn’t as prominent, but still there.
He doesn’t know if your feelings for Kaeya, if you even have any after the breakup, will ever go away. Perhaps they’ll stay over you like a looming shadow for the rest of your life.
If only – he’ll think, on nights when you’ve fallen asleep on his couch, bottle of wine beside you – if only he hadn’t said anything, maybe you’d be happy with Kaeya.
But the past is the path, and he must look to the future. The future where he can stand by your side, in whatever way you’ll accept him.
(Alone from the beginning, alone in the end. Fitting, for someone like him.)

Fox Mulder, Closet Romantic Ch. 16: Quench
Previous Chapter - AO3 - MSR, rated E
“You know what amazes me,” Scully says as they walk along the waterfront. “That day we first met… I never would have guessed we’d end up like this. More than partners, more than friends.”
“I didn’t expect you to last three months with me,” Mulder admits, hands in his pockets. “Part of me wanted to drive you away, make you request reassignment.”
“And the other part of you?” she prompts, gently taking ahold of his wrist and drawing his hand out. She laces their fingers together, and their entwined hands swing between them as they walk. He likes it.
“I came to admire you,” he admits. “I read your thesis, for starters, but getting to know you personally was a transformative experience. I saw your strength, your dedication to your principles, your loyalty. I came to depend on your perspective; you were always matching me, challenging me.”
“I thought you hated that,” Scully points out.
“I definitely did on occasion,” he agrees. “But I needed it. I still do. I need your rationality and clarity and willingness to listen, even when you disagree with me. Especially when you disagree,” he amends.
“Respecting the journey,” Scully concurs.
“Exactly.” He glances down at her. “What did you think of me when we first met?”
“Hmm… I’d heard a lot about you, so that definitely colored my view in the beginning,” she says. “But walking into the basement office for the first time, I thought… well, for one, you were much more attractive than I was expecting,” she confesses. “I was actually a little awestruck; that is, until you started talking.”
“Why until I started talking?” he asks, voice amused and defensive in equal measure.
“You were really laying it on thick, playing up the ‘Spooky Mulder’ image. It seemed like you’d been alone down there for a little too long,” she says cheekily.
“I’d argue with you, Scully, but I think this time you’re actually right,” he concedes. He stops walking, gives her hand a gentle tug to guide her closer.
“Are you glad they sent me to spy on you?” she asks softly, taking his free hand into her other one.
He nods and leans down, dropping a soft kiss to her lips. “Best thing the Bureau’s ever done for me.”
“We should head back to the car,” Scully says. “My feet are starting to hurt.”
“It’s impressive, the things you manage to do in heels,” Mulder notes.
“You don’t know the half of it,” she says with a sly grin.
“Scully, please, be gentle with me,” he pleads. “It’s been a long time.”
“Hm,” Scully presses her lips together, stifling a smile. “I like when you beg.”
Jesus H Christ.
The drive back to Scully’s apartment is short, and before he knows it, he’s pulling over in front of her building, not ready to say goodnight.
Scully must sense this, because she turns to him with hopeful eyes. “Would you like to come in?” she asks. “I’ll make some tea.”
Mulder bites his lip, considering. “Are you inviting me up for a drink or are you ‘inviting me up for a drink’?” he asks.
She shrugs, smiling. “Only one way to find out,” she replies.
He has to at least walk her to her door, right? It’s the chivalrous thing to do. He might as well stay for tea…
Scully seems far more relaxed than she had at the start of the evening. She undoes the straps of her little heeled sandals and kicks them off by the door, tossing her bag and shawl onto the couch.
“What kind of tea would you like?” Scully asks, going into the kitchen and opening a cupboard.
“Uh... you have any black tea?” Mulder asks, sitting on the couch. He knows he should probably be more specific, but the majority of his tea experiences are iced and made by someone else, and he frankly doesn’t know what to ask for.
“Several, actually,” Scully answers, rearranging cartons in the cupboard. “I’m making an executive decision,” she announces, pulling out a box of Constant Comment. “Missy and I liked this one best.”
He watches her over the back of the couch as she starts the kettle, takes two mugs out of the cupboard, drops a teabag into each one. Her hair is a little mussed, and the hem of her dress is dragging on the floor without the added height of her heels. He decides that seeing her all put together at the beginning of the night is no match for watching her come undone at the end.
If only every night could be like this; them sitting on her squishy striped couch, cups of spicy tea in hand, talking about the profound and the mundane. Maybe, somehow, we can have this, he thinks. Pore over case notes on the sofa, kiss each other goodnight, wake up in each other’s arms.
He decides that Constant Comment is, in fact, a very good tea.
Cup empty, Scully sighs contentedly as she rests her head on his shoulder. “This is nice,” she says. “I wish we hadn’t waited so long to do this.”
“What, sit on your coach and drink tea?”
“Well, yes, but more than that. I meant just being together, without holding things back.”
“Maybe we weren’t ready,” Mulder muses. “We needed to grow into what we wanted and needed from each other. I know it took me a long time to figure it out, and even longer to get the courage to tell you.”
“Well, I suppose not knowing how I felt didn’t help; I was too subtle. I took what I considered a big swing in Florida,” she admits, “And when you didn’t respond I decided to back off.”
“A big swing? What are you talking about?” Mulder asks.
Scully covers her face with her hands. “It’s so embarrassing now,” she groans. “Remember when they tried to send us to that team-building conference? And I came to your room with wine and cheese?”
“Yes,” he says slowly. “Wait, was that a come-on?”
“Yes!” she exclaims. “I came in with this stupid plate of cheese and minibar wine, trying to… to telegraph that I was interested, and you just kept talking about culling techniques all the way out the door.”
“What were you hoping would happen?” Mulder asks.
“I don’t know,” Scully muses. “I was newly cancer-free, and we had just been through that whole ordeal together... I wanted to take a chance and see where it went. Maybe make out a little bit, at least? I’m not sure if... if I would have been ready for more, even if you expressed an interest. But I definitely wanted it.”
“I had no idea,” he says.
They sit silently for a moment.
“I don’t suppose... we should make up for lost time?” he suggests, looking down at her.
She licks her lips, and his eyes follow the movement of her tongue.
She tilts her chin up to him, and he places his hands on either side of her jaw. He leans in, their noses brushing as he tilts his head and presses his mouth to hers. She sighs into the kiss, bringing her hands to his shoulders.
Her lips are so soft and warm, faintly flavored with spices and orange rind from the tea, and he parts his lips reflexively. Hers follow, and the sensation of their mouths slotting together makes his head spin.
Suddenly he feels the slip of her tongue again his bottom lip and he’s in a free fall. They part with a gasp.
“Too much?” Scully asks.
“No, not at all,” Mulder says quickly. “Just surprised me. It was good,” he assures her.
“Good,” she replies, taking a deep breath. “Sorry… I feel like a clueless teenager,” she says with a huff of a laugh. “I don’t think I’ve ever cared this much. Maybe that’s why I’m feeling out of my depth all of a sudden.”
“I’ve never cared this much for anybody either,” he admits. “But like you said. We’ll go slow.”
She licks her lips. “Okay,” she whispers.
He angles himself towards her, sliding a hand around the back of her neck to draw her closer. “Try again?” he whispers, lips brushing hers.
“Yes,” she breathes.
He’s been holding back from this for years, he realizes; all those times his eyes caught on her lips, watching her mouth shape his name. Occupying his tongue with sunflower seeds to distract himself from what he really wanted. Leaning close, furtively whispering, convincing himself that he really needed to be in her personal space. It was all an elaborate buildup for this moment.
He has a hand in her hair, the other tentatively resting on her waist. Emboldened by her previous eagerness, he opens his mouth, inviting her in with a soft lick. She responds by looping her arms around his neck, one leg hitched across his kneecap as their tongues meet.
They kiss like kites dancing on air, ribbons twisting and tangling in the wind, all silk and cotton and hot breath. He’s not sure if he pulled her onto his lap, or if she slid across his knees of her own volition; but she’s there now, her compact body bundled against his chest. She cards her fingers through his hair, sucking his lower lip, grazing his tongue with her teeth.
Mulder wants this so badly it aches. He might die if they stop, but something below the belt is bound to make itself known, and he needs to regain control before his body gets ahead of his mind.
“Scully,” he pants, pulling back. Her cheeks are flushed, lips swollen, and his hunger intensifies. “Scully, if we’re not going to take this further tonight we need to stop now.”
She nods, lips parted as she catches her breath. One strap of her dress has fallen down her shoulder, and he tenderly replaces it with the slip of a finger.
“Don’t touch me like that,” she whispers. “It’s too dangerous.”
“I know,” he confesses. “But… sometimes I want dangerous.”
“So do I,” she says. “But you were right. We should stop.” She slips off of his lap, standing. “It’s getting late,” she say, glancing at the clock. “I have mass in the morning.”
“I hope I gave you a few things to confess,” he says, rising.
“I may add some to the list myself,” she murmurs, and his knees threaten to give way.
“You’re going to get me in trouble,” he warns her, picking up his jacket and walking to the door. “The more you talk, the harder it is to leave.”
“Then my lips are sealed,” she says. “Goodnight, Mulder.” She opens the door for him, rising onto her tiptoes to receive one more kiss.
It’s brief, but sweet, and Mulder impulsively pulls her into a hug after their lips part. “Goodnight, Scully,” he mumbles into her hair.
He's ascended; gotten high on her lips, floating through the cosmos.

Sam Drake/Reader
Sam is away on a job and you miss him. Naturally, he never forgets to call, and one thing leads to another. No spoilers.
Rating: Explicit (Dirty Talk, NSFW)

On Ao3
“You’re terrible.” A broken off sound of surprise is heard before Sam chuckles. “That’s how you want to greet me?” “You made me wait on purpose!” you announce, having waited for his call for more than a few minutes, and it just so happened to put you on the edge. “I didn’t” “You’re a liar” “We’ve established that already.” “Fair... Fair.” you admit at last, laughing. Hearing his voice finally just felt too good. “What have you been up to?” he asks after you spend a second in silence, in which both of you simply enjoy the presence of each other. “Thinking about you.” you answer and he chuckles softly. “Good girl.” “What about you?” “Wait, you’re not telling me what else you’ve been up to? Where are my steamy shower stories?” “I never signed up for that” you remind him playfully. “That’s exactly what you signed up for when you decided to stay with me” he reminds you equally, and you laugh it off. “What else have I been up to... I took a walk outside.” You look out of the window and see the sun shining brightly, though a few clouds threaten to conceal it. As your gaze comes back into the room, you see one of Sam’s books on the coffee table, the one that he had left there. “I read a little - that book you put out for me.” “Oh, did you like it?” he asks, genuinely curious. “I liked the parts of it that reminded me of you. It’s like I could taste you through it” You draw your bare feet up onto the couch as the intensity of remembering his touch becomes too much to bear. He seems to notice the change.
“Did you... play with yourself when you thought of me?” “Sam!” you gasp in shock and laugh. “You did.” “Just because you do that when you think of me doesn’t mean the opposite is true!” “You're saying that like it’s a bad thing.” “... It’s not.” you correct yourself with a suggestive undertone. “... Off to a promising start.” he responds, playing it cool.
“So what have you been doing over there?” you ask in a lightened manner. “Besides thinking of you?” “And masturbating while thinking of me, yes” you confirm. “Not much” he confesses after a weary sigh, “Meeting a few contacts, getting a certain collector’s item.” “Huh. Contacts. Any hot women?” “They don’t even get close to you in terms of hotness” he replies without hesitance. “So there are hot women around.” you conclude sharply. “Not according to my standards now, no.” he explains chuckling, managing just barely to convince you the bar had been raised dramatically since he met you. “Anyway give me, I don’t know, two more days I think, and I’m out of here.” “Off to the next spot? Where you’ll meet me?” you ask grinning, but you notice his answer does not come as fast as usual. “We’ve talked about this.” he says, and it sounds almost accusing, though you knew it was not his usual tone. It was just when he genuinely cared, and he did not want to argue because he cared. “I know” you answer gently, thinking a long time before you decide to speak up again. “I just wish--” “It’s just one week, baby. I’ll be back before you even finish that book.” he assures you. “Who says I was planning on finishing it?” you remark. “You just want to be a tease now, don’t you?” Your hand runs along one of your legs as you think about what he was implying, feeling the sensation of the sun on your skin and remembering the other sensation, namely his touch, of so many past times. “Maybe” “Sounds like you need to be put in your place.” His low tone ignites a fire in your core, and yet it is not a demand, but an open invitation clearly. “Definitely” you answer, knowing that although he was polite and caring, in the end he wanted you to obey. “Are you alone?” “I am.” he chuckles as if he knows what you are implying. “All alone in my hotel room. You?” “All alone at home” you reply, your own hand grazing over your thigh, only stopping at the fabric of the shorts you wear. “Squeeze your breasts for me, will you?” he asks with what sounds like a sigh of remembrance. You do as he says and while one hand holds the phone even closer to your ear, your other runs up, squeezing one of your breasts through the fabric of your T-shirt, a hum making it past your lips in reaction. “Hmm, that feels good” “You really miss me, don’t you?” You moan quietly at his seductive low voice and nod to yourself. “I do” “Give your ass a nice squeeze from me too” he demands, but as your hand already moves over the fabric, he hastens, “Wait -- slowly. Enjoy the ride down.” You stop instantly, but then follow up, running your hand down over your stomach and hips, then towards your side, shifting at once for better access. “There” He sounds accomplished as he hears you change positions. “Take your time.” A sigh announces that you have fulfilled his wish. The light squeeze feels much better than expected, the instruction creating the illusion of your hand being led by another. “Does it feel good?” He finally grows impatient as you forget communicating your feelings. “So good” you answer. “Please, I want more” “So eager” he remarks and you can tell from the sound of his voice that he wants nothing more than to have you beg for it. “Sam” you say still eagerly, giving yourself to him fully, intimately, “I miss your hands so much. I want to feel your strong hands” “You’re gonna have to be patient and wait for it, babygirl” he reminds you softly, but follows up right away when he hears your restless sigh, “Is your hand between your legs?” “No” you answer honestly, though now your hand runs from the side of your hips over to the front. “I’ll--” “Easy there. Go slow.” he reminds you in his firm and sensual voice, picking up on your intention. “Are you wet?” “I think so” you answer not entirely sure, your hand resting upon the fabric. “What are you wearing? Take it off.” he insists. “Just... a pair of shorts. And a T-shirt” You comply with the demand, struggling to undo the button with one hand for a moment, then unzip the short pair of pants, resettling and letting them drop to the floor, feet pushing it off before retreating to rest on the seat. It seems like Sam knows that you have complied once he hears the sounds of you pushing your shirt up just enough to see yourself.
“Let your hand run along those beautiful legs” he breaks in, but again stops you from touching yourself too fast, “I want you to go real slow.” You swallow, your own hand stroking the outside of your thigh up, then down on the inner side, building the tension that is released in a sigh when you touch yourself through your underwear. “I’m wet” you answer, noticing the shiver in your own voice. Sam breathes deeply and you can hear the clasp of his belt being undone over the phone, then the hint of a zipper becoming unfastened. “Yes, touch yourself for me, too” you request. “Already at it, baby” he sighs, “You’re in my head now” “What are you thinking of?” “Of how weak you become and how you moan when I stretch you with my cock” “Oh Sam” you moan immediately, caught off-guard with your core instantly tightening. “Run those fingers along your clit” His voice becomes softer when he calls your name right after, revealing to you that he himself was struggling with his arousal. “Hmm, yes” you hum, your thighs loosely pressed together as you run your hand past the thin fabric along your clit and entrance. “You’re going to take me when you come back home?” “First thing I’ll do when I get home” he answers breathlessly and you can hear the rustle of fabric in the background, leading you to imagine how he was stroking himself. You keep caressing yourself softly, but lazily and he seems to become aware of the difference in pace.
“Do you remember that present I got you?” he suddenly breaks in. In your memory you recall the little gift for lonely hours he handed you before he left, as well as your own surprised face upon undoing the ribbon around the little box and opening it - and his mischievous grin when you looked up to meet his gaze. “Yes... I-- I tired myself out on it the other day, to be honest” you admit with a light blush upon your cheeks, making him chuckle. “That’s how much you miss me?” he asks amusedly. “You wanna get it and use it for me?” You agree soft-spokenly, although there is no lack of embarrassment that comes with it.
With the long, slightly curved silver wand taken out of your lingerie drawer, you come back to your seat on the couch. “Use it. Tell me how it feels inside you” he guides, and though you are somewhat shy about it, it excites you so much that you feel your skin prickling at the idea - and your whole body tenses, then becomes hot when you push the thicker end - as opposed to the narrow one - of the metallic wand inside you, your underwear hastily shoved aside. “How does it feel, baby?” he asks again when he hears only the held-back sounds of pleasure you make. “It’s so good, my-- It’s big” “It’s smaller than me” he chuckles. “I haven’t had you in 3 days!” you remind him, then moan quietly as the wand seemingly slides inside on its own, your own body longing to be filled. The smooth metal feels cold at first, creating an unusual sensation, but warms up right away. “Sam” you whimper. “Yes?” he sighs in anticipation. “I need you to fuck me” “Imagine it’s my cock, baby. Imagine me on top of you” “Oh God” The thought drives you crazy, and as you close your eyes you can really sense him on top of you, leaned over, grasping onto the backrest while burying himself deep inside of you. You see his muscular chest and arms, his abs, the way his body moves against yours. “Yes, that’s it... let me inside you all the way” he encourages, speaking in such a low, aroused tone that you feel your wetness along your own fingertips as you carefully push the toy further inside. “Oh God” you say once more, withered and tainted by the lust you feel in your core. You remember the build of the curved toy from when you tried it the other day, and it hits the same sensitive spot again, making you squirm, your feet autonomously setting up on the very edge of your seat, legs wide apart.
“Fuck yourself for me” he demands, breathing heavily along with you and you sense he must be stroking himself too. You again do as he says and are unable to hold back your moaning when you push the toy in and out of you. “Your voice is so fucking sexy” he curses and you hear the faint metallic sound of his belt against the button of his pants, your imagination of what he was doing to himself running wild. “Tell me how it feels for you, too” you demand helplessly. “I’m so hard for you, I can’t take it.” he answers in between heavy breathing. “Fuck yourself harder, like I do when I make you come” You whimper as you feel your stomach in a knot at his words, but comply nevertheless. He must be able to guess you are pleasuring yourself harder just from the sounds of it. “God” he breaks in weakly, “I can hear it -- I can hear your wet cunt taking it” A deep blush settles on your cheeks as you take note of the wet sounds created by the toy being shoved in and out of you. “Don’t stop” he says when he notices you hesitating, breath hitching from his own handwork. “I want you to go hard just like that” “Oh God, Sam” you whimper, fucking yourself in the same hard pace again, legs growing weak when you feel yourself getting closer and closer. “That’s it, baby... Touch your clit” “I can’t-- I’m gonna come if I do” “I’m gonna come too” he warns, his voice so weak, like he was all yours, “I want to hear you first” You hesitate for a moment but then position your hand in a way that the lower end of your palm casually brushes your clit while you keep pleasuring yourself with the toy. Involuntarily you thrust the wand in faster, harder, and with the gentle tapping of your hand against your clit feel the release arising. “Ah, Sam-- I’m coming” “Good girl, stretch that tight little cunt-- ” He breaks off in his own groaning, reluctant sighs of lust releasing along with your name. “Fuck-- I’m-- fuck” You moan hard when you realize he is coming at the thought of you, your stomach twisting until the sparks are released and your conscience vanishes for a split second. The heavy breathing calms down slowly and the two of you share the last few strokes together quietly.
“That was hot” Sam comments, and after a short break you hear him shifting in his seat. You slowly slide the toy out of you and let your legs drop weakly, lying down on your side, sighing in peace. “You’re hot, doing yourself like that” he adds. “Says the man who makes it a point to seduce me every damn time” you counter, making both of you laugh in amusement. “I have to, right? Can’t have you run off somewhere.” he comments. “Be a good girl until I come home, alright?” “I am not making any promises.” you answer. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “You’ll have to call and check up on me. That’s what it means.” you state the obvious. “Check up on you” he repeats, chuckling. “Got a taste for it now?” “Never said I didn’t like it.” you reveal. “Although nothing beats the taste of your kisses.” “You’ll get so many that you’ll grow tired of them when I get back.” “I wonder if I ever will.” you say and smile happily.

warning: it’s just smut. like a tiny hint of plot. but tiny.
because I reblogged this and was inspired:

______
“I’m not letting you pay for it, and that’s final.” Sophie stated, turning her back on Rafe.
They’d been arguing for a good half hour over breakfast after Rafe casually offered to pay for both the tickets for her sorority formal. It was expensive, admittedly, as her sorority sprung for the fancier venue at the botanical gardens downtown, along with hotel rooms and a stacked bar.
(‘Offered’ might be a generous way to put it - he had just handed her a signed, blank check, and told her to write in how much it turned out to be, along with the cost of her dress. Entirely caught off guard, she ripped it up and handed the shreds back to him.)
When they started drawing looks from their hissed arguing, Sophie abruptly changed the subject, refusing to talk about it when he tried to bring it up again in the restaurant. The rest of the meal was fairly tense, but they both did their best to keep it civil.
He’d driven her home, only for them to argue more in the car and again when he tried walking her to the door. “Sophie.” Rafe huffed, calling after her. “Sophie! Come on!”
She didn’t respond, just stalked off and let the side door of her sorority house slam shut behind her. She had to laugh, however, when her phone immediately chimed with a text from Rafe.
Rafe: Am I still coming over before we go out tonight
Sophie: As long as you don’t try to sugar daddy me again
Rafe: Don’t start
Sophie: I’ll see you at nine
The argument stuck like a stubborn thorn in the back of both of their minds all day, but they didn’t text each other and bring it up again, knowing it was useless. He kept his promise and came over exactly at nine, drinks in hand and ready to go meet her roommates at a house party. She wasn’t ready yet - running late, like always - and had him come up to her room instead. He sat on her bed as she changed, drinking a White Claw while he waited.
Rafe grumbled, seeing her outfit. “You’re gonna wear that?”
She wore a sheer black square-necked top with a black bra underneath, not hiding much. She paired it with a black leather skirt that flared out a little, just under her ass. Sophie paused, looking at herself in the mirror, then unclipped the bra and shimmied out of it, keeping her top on. “No, you’re right, this is better.”
He shut his eyes, taking a slow, dramatic inhale. “Sophie Flint.”
She put both hands on her hips and turned to face him. “What.”
He glared at her, knowing she was just trying to test his limits. “Put the damn bra back on.”
“No. I look good.” She walked over to him, stepping in between his legs.
Rafe shook his head as he looked up at her, setting his drink aside. “You’re insufferable.”
She quirked her brow, holding back a smirk. “Haven’t heard that one in a while.”
He reached up and palmed her breast, satisfied when her eyes fluttered shut as he brushed his thumb over her nipple. “You did this on purpose.”
Sophie rolled her eyes. “Oh, look, we have a fucking genius here.”
That was enough to set him over the edge and he grabbed her around the waist, swiftly pulling her down to his lap. Their lips crashed together and she straddled him right away, rolling her hips over him. He cursed and bit her bottom lip, not being gentle in the slightest.
She gasped, her hands finding her way to the hem of his shirt right away and she tugged up. “Off, I want this off.”
“Demanding.” Rafe quipped, but pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it to the floor. He flipped them over easily and caught both her wrists in one hand, pinning them above her head. “Will you be good?”
A little caught off guard by his commanding nature, Sophie blinked up at him with wide eyes. “You’re gonna leave a mark.” She murmured.
He immediately loosened his grip on her, sitting up a little to give her some space. “Shoot, sorry, am I hurting you?”
“No, um. You don’t have to be gentle all the time.” She pressed her hips up into his and shook her head quickly, cheeks burning red as she clarified. “I like it.”
“Fuck, Soph.” He cursed and leaned back down to kiss her hard, bruising. “You’re gonna be the death of me.” She moaned quietly as he kissed along her jawline and down her neck, keeping her wrists pinned in place. “You can’t die, I don’t like fighting with anyone else.”
“That’s all I’m good for?” He nipped at her collarbone, enjoying when she squirmed under him. “Sometimes I like you better when you’re moaning.”
“I like you better when your mouth is occupied.” She snapped back, pushing her hips against him again to try and find any friction. He let go of her wrists, only to fiddle with the clasp of her skirt. Sophie reached to pull off her top, but he knocked her hands away. “Keep this sad excuse of a shirt on.”
She lifted her hips for him to tug her skirt down her legs. “Thought you didn’t like it.”
“I like it just fine, I don’t want other people seeing you in it.”
Her next sassy response died in her throat as he grabbed her panties in both hands and ripped them clean in half. He kissed up her thighs, using one forearm across her hips to pin her in place.
“You’re buying me a new pair.” She breathed out, only a little delayed.
“Oh, so now you’ll let me buy you things?” He kissed everywhere but where she wanted it, feather-light, and she whined, trying to move her hips toward him. “A ten-dollar pair of underwear is not the same thing as what you were trying to do.” When he nipped teasingly at her hipbone, her shirt now pushed all the way up her stomach, she huffed. “Rafe, please.”
“Patience, angel.” He admonished, but brought two fingers up to her anyway, teasingly stroking around her entrance. She let her head fall back when he slipped them inside of her and he reached up and grabbed her chin with his free hand, ultra commanding. “Eyes on me.”
She nodded quickly and bit her lip hard to stifle her next moan, trying her hardest not to let her eyes flutter shut at the pleasure.
“I want to hear you.” Rafe pressed his thumb against her clit, smirking when she gasped. “Can’t. You’re not - fuck - not allowed up here.” She bit out, having trouble speaking with the way he was moving his fingers against her. When he withdrew his fingers just as she was on the edge, she whined, reaching for him. “Wait, no, I was close.”
“Always so fucking whiny for me.” He grinned and pressed his fingers to her lips. She opened obediently, sucking on them until they were clean. “Good girl.”
“I want you.” Sophie told him meaningfully, reaching for his belt buckle. He stood just long enough to kick his pants to the floor while she reached over and grabbed a condom from the nightstand, handing it to him. He wasted no time in rolling it on and nudging her back to lie down. “You okay?”
“Yes, fine, shut up.”
He laughed, lining his hips up against hers. “That’s no way to talk to someone you love.”
“Had to remind myself I’m still mad at you.” She informed him, but gasped sharply anyways as he pushed into her unexpectedly. He waited for her nod to start thrusting into her, gripping her hips hard enough to leave a mark. “Just let me pay for my half. At least.”
“You’re not seriously -  ohh.” She breathed out, letting her head fall back. “This isn’t fair.”
He stopped abruptly, though it pained him a little. “I can quit and we can keep arguing.”
“No, no, please don’t stop.” She whimpered, wrapping an arm around his back to pull him closer to her. He nodded and kept going, bringing one hand in between them to play with her clit. “My half and your dress.”
“Rafe, fuck, please.”
“All of it, then.” He groaned, trying his best to keep himself fairly quiet (though her creaky bed was a dead giveaway).
“Just half.” She bit back a moan, squirming under him. “You’re evil for bringing this up now.”
“Devil to my angel.” He smirked.
“Don’t stop.” Sophie mumbled against his shoulder, arching her back as he hit the perfect spot. “Shh, shh.” He soothed. When she finally came, biting against his shoulder to keep herself quiet, he came shortly after, hips stuttering against hers. The two lay in silence for a moment, breathing heavily against each other.
“I think we’re late to the party.” Rafe quipped.
She laughed, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “We’re not going to the fucking party. We both need a shower.”
He whined, letting his head fall to her shoulder. “But I can’t shower here.”
“No, you’ll have to go home.” She agreed, combing her fingers through his long, floppy hair. “Wanna sleep with you.” He mumbled, always extra cuddly after sex. “Maybe you don’t deserve to sleep with me, trying to sabotage me in a fight.” She pointed out.
He lifted his head quickly, kissing her cheek. “No, c’mon. Not fair, let me stay.”
She laughed at his near-whiny tone. “I’ll shower here, you go home and shower, then I’ll come over and stay with you. Deal?”
“So inconvenient.” He grumbled, but reluctantly stood, pulling on his clothes. “Promise you’ll come over right away?”
“Promise.” Sophie smiled, leaning over to meet him in a quick kiss. “Get out of here.”
“Wait, Soph.” He paused just at the door, giving her a goofy grin. “Will you bring that soft blanket?”
She raised her eyebrows. “You’re kidding.”
“I’m not.”
“You just fucked me like that and now you're asking me to bring over a blanket for you to sleep with?”
He grinned, sheepish. “Exactly. See you soon, love you!” He waved quickly before leaving, sneaking out of the house. He had barely left before seeing a text from Sophie -
better not fall asleep before I’m there. love you too.

~2 weeks later…
“Come now, drink up,” Tony said, gesturing impatiently since he was needing to leave to go to a meeting bright and early, and you picked up the glass warily.
He had made you a smoothie out of hemp, cucumber, avocado, kale, ginger, grapes, and coconut milk. You had watched him adding each ingredient feeling more and more anxious. You just wanted an egg and bacon sandwich.
You grimaced as you swallowed it. You whined, “I don’t like it.”
“Yeah, I don’t either but it’s good for us, kitten,” Tony said, grabbing his own glass and taking a swig. He barely held back a face. “I’ve gotta be tip top shape for you and the baby. And you gotta be tip top shape for baby Stark.”
Scowling, you stared down at your glass, muttering, “I don’t like you calling it that.”
“I don’t like you calling it… it.”
“Well, we don’t know the sex yet, so what do you want me to say?”
“Baby Stark,” Tony quipped, taking another drink. He eyed your glass, nodding, telling you to do the same.
You took another long drink and swallowed it with difficulty. “It sounds too close to that annoying ass song.” Tony cocked his head in confusion, and you said, “I won’t subject you to it. Or myself to it. Again. Once was enough. I’m glad we are past the age – hopefully – that abomination is in vogue.”
“Well, now you’ve got me curious,” Tony said, pulling out his phone.
“Please, don’t,” you begged and then thought quick to threaten, “I won’t finish this if you do.”
Tony pointed at you and said, “That’s not fair. That’s for baby… the baby. This is for me and you can handle it.” Your jaw set and put the glass down, staring defiantly back at him. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly, not breaking eye contact. “You hate it that much?”
“Yes.”
Rolling his eyes, he placed his phone back down and picked his glass back up, taking another drink. At his relent, you did the same. Tony finished his and sucked his teeth before rinsing his glass in the sink. You forced yourself to finish as well and placed the glass back down on the counter. Tony grabbed it from you and rinsed yours as well.
He leaned in and gave you a quick kiss, “I’ll listen to it at work.”
“I am telling you, you shouldn’t subject yourself to it,” you replied.
“Digging my own grave then,” Tony joked before giving you another kiss, longer this time. He tapped your nose and said, “Do your laps in the pool, princess. Don’t forget. Doctor said that would help aches and loosening your muscles.” You nodded in response and he smiled, his hand coming to rest on your abdomen for a second before he moved past you to go to the garage and leave.

~2.5 months later… (5.5 months along)
Tony had you on your knees on the bed, your fingers spread, digging into the bed, bracing yourself. He ran his hands up your sides as he kept a steady pace. He was being gentler than usual, and you were thankful, loving the intimate contact. His touch was sensual and loving. The further you got along, the more he was relaxing on the rough sex.
The two of you ended up on your sides, Tony holding you close this chest as you came down.
He laid a kiss on your cheek, still panting softly from the exertion considering he had done most of the work.
His hand slid down to your abdomen, caressing your ever growing bump gently.
“Look at how perfect and strong you are, kitten,” he murmured. He turned your head towards him and kissed you slow and deep. “A superhero in your own right, growing life.” You smiled gently at that.

~1.5 months later… (7 months)
“She’s been good,” Happy commented, watching Y/N inside from the back patio. She was showing now completely, round, and no hiding her pregnancy. “I can admit, I am surprised.” He looked at Mikhail and said, “Looks like you aren’t a complete idiot.”
“Took you long enough to figure out,” Mikhail responded, taking a long drink, looking at the women gathered inside the room. He smacked his lips and said under his breath to Happy, “Not stoked about being at a baby shower but at least there’s a lot of nice ass to look at.”
Inside the mansion, you took the salad from your friend, who commented, “You should eat something else.”
“We are going to have cake later,” you said waving her off.
“I meant something more nutritious than a green salad, Y/N.”
“Spinach is very healthy,” you retorted.
“There are a lot of finger foods. Tea sandwiches. Meatballs on sticks with veggies. Deviled eggs. Pinwheels?”
You sighed, chewing the bite of salad you had just taken. “A couple deviled eggs wouldn’t be bad. And some veggie sticks with ranch.”
She walked off and you scowled to yourself. Everyone was trying to constantly get you to eat ‘healthy’ for the baby and it was getting worse, the hounding about everything you needed to do. You were tired of it. The constant asking about what you had eaten and when, the reminders to drink water as if you had not been drinking water your entire life, did you exercise…
Cassandra waltzed over, sitting down next to you. You were very thankful she had decided to come and had forgiven you for the scene at her house less than a year ago. She picked a crouton off your salad, drawing a smirk out of you as she winked, before she said, “I’ve been meaning to ask you. Where did you get this dress? It is gorgeous.”
“Tiffany Rose.”
“The blush color looks beautiful on you. And I love you went dramatic with the floor length.”
“Thanks. Would you expect anything less from me?” you asked, jokingly. She shook her head, smiling. You took another bite and swallowed. “Are you looking for a dress for your shower?”
She nodded in return. She was taking a break from porn – hinting she might not go back at all – having gotten pregnant herself. And then asked, her eyebrows wiggling, “Is the blush supposed to be an indicator about the sex?”
“No. I just liked the color.”
“You really don’t know the sex yet? It’s a surprise for everyone?”
“Well, for us. I’m sure Happy and Mikhail know. God knows Tony couldn’t have kept it all to himself. Good luck breaking them though. I’ve been trying to get Happy to slip up about it for a couple weeks.”
Cassandra leaned back and said, “So, he set it all up and then the cake cutting reveal is his secret?” You nodded. “Hmm, he put a lot of work into this.”
“He did,” you confirmed, taking another bite as your other friend returned with a plate of deviled eggs and the vegetables you had agreed to. You held out the half-finished salad bowl and they took it, albeit reluctantly seeing you had not finished. You took the plate and obliged them by eating one of the eggs. “He’s excited.”
You paused and then added, “Excited but he’s ready for rough sex again.”
“I’m sure you are too,” Cassandra joked, nudging you playfully.
“Yeah. I’m tired of just… growing.” You took a bite off one of the carrot sticks. “It’s never ending. And I know I’ve got probably another month and a half of it at least.”
“It’ll all be worth it,” Cassandra reassured you, stealing a celery stick off your plate now and biting into it.
You finished off your carrot, swallowed, and muttered, “I fucking hope so.”
Your hand came to your stomach, rubbing. You were anxious to know what the sex was. When the sex had been able to be detected, Tony insisted you should stay in the dark so he could make it an actual reveal at the baby shower for you. You hated not knowing when he did, but he had been persistent about the idea of it and you had gone with it because he seemed thrilled with the idea. You just wanted to know. You were hoping the party would progress faster so you could end that anxiousness.
When it finally happened, the blue inside the cake settled something in you. At least you knew what that part of your future was going to look like.

~2.5 months later…
“What’s this?” Tony asked, seeing another travel bag next to yours.
“It’s for Miles,” you said as if that was obvious. You went back into your closet, grabbing another scarf from your collection. It was going to be cold at Lake Tahoe for the trip.
Tony took the scarf from you and put it in your travel bag. “He doesn’t need a bag. He’s staying here.”
“Wait, what?” you asked, stricken. He was only a month old. Barely.
“Doctors said one month is enough, but a lot recommend three months for trips. So, we are going to play it safe. He’ll stay here and we will go.”
“Tony, I—we can’t leave him!” you tried to argue, your hand falling protectively on his travel bag.
Tony’s eyes flicked to your hands and he gripped them, prying them away to grasp them in his. He stared into your eyes and said, “Sure we can. It’s only three days, Y/N. We will be back before you know it. He is an infant; he’s not going to notice.”
You were going to notice leaving your infant behind.
“I have to breastfeed him,” you tried another argument.
“Pump before we leave. You have back up in the fridge, no? And it keeps for up to four days. And then he can have formula otherwise.”
“I didn’t want to give him formula,” you protested.
“Don’t listen to that shit that says it’s not good. I had formula and I’m a genius by earthly standards,” Tony said, trying to make a joke. “I already got the formula, Wendy knows how to whip it up.”
“But—” you started to protest but Tony interjected.
“Just us, princess. Just us,” Tony said, his thumbs caressing your cheeks as he cradled your face.  “He’ll be fine. He’s in very capable hands with Wendy. You trust her right?” He waited for you to respond and you nodded; you did trust her, wholeheartedly. But that did not mean you did not want to bring your infant on a trip with the two of you. Before you could actually say anything, Tony’s hands fell from your face and gripped at your hips, sliding back to your ass to hold you close. “Let’s enjoy ourselves.” He leaned in, nipping at your ear, “Let me enjoy you. He’s been stealing all your attention as of late.”
You hated that last comment. Throughout your pregnancy and even from the beginning, you had had a nagging feeling Tony was going to get jealous about sharing your affection and attention. And that was just proving it.
“I deserve some attention, don’t I, baby?”
Shoving down argument, you forced a quick smile. “Of course, daddy. All of my attention.”
He smiled sensually, his hands kneading at your ass as he pulled you closer. His eyes were alight with adoration for you. “That’s my perfect princess.”

Arriving at Aslan’s How is truly like something out of a picture book. We stop just before the archway. I stand beside Peter, observing him as he watches the scene unfold before him. Centaurs line the path and draw their swords in honor of the Pevensies, their Kings and Queens of Narnia. Peter appears unfazed, as though this is normal life. Then I realize, this is normal to him. He starts to walk along with his siblings. When he comprehends that I’ve stayed put, he turns to me in confusion. I release his hand and urge him to go out with a nod of my head. I’m not a Queen of Narnia. An unfamiliar expression crosses his face before he snaps out of it and hurries to rejoin his siblings. I glance over Caspian and his head falls as the siblings walk ahead.
“Don’t worry, you’re needed here too,” I assure him quietly.
His eyes meet mine and I offer him a soft smile. After all, if it weren’t for him, the Pevensies would’ve never made it back here. I can tell he’s unsure of himself, worried about all of the pressure on him. Caspian and the Pevensies are supposed to lead a revolution. I can’t help but wonder if it’s truly feasible. We’re just a couple of kids.
I nod my head toward the How and the two of us start walking together with Trumpkin following along.
After a tour of the hideout and Caspian showing us the shrine to Aslan, there’s a war meeting. Peter and Caspian are butting heads, not much of a surprise there. The presence of a power struggle between the two leaders is evident as day. Caspian believes we should wait for the Telmarines to make the first move. Peter thinks it’s best if we attack first with the element of surprise.
I sit with my knees close to my chest against a pillar with Ed. I rest my head on his shoulder, growing tired of this back and forth tennis match between royals. Plus, I haven’t slept in two days.
“If we dig in, we can hold them off indefinitely,” Susan sides with Caspian.
“But if they’re smart, they could starve us out,” Edmund voices.
Centaurs give their unwavering support if Peter does decide to lead a raid. They guarantee that they will fight to the death. I shake my head, earning the attention of Edmund who feels the motion against his shoulder. He can likely predict what I’m thinking. Brotherly, he places his hand over mine, rubbing his thumb over my skin gently.
“That’s what I’m worried about,” Lucy interjects under her breath.
Peter turns to her, “I’m sorry?”
“Well, you’re all acting like there are only two options, dying here or dying there.”
Again, Lucy is the youngest, but still the wisest. I’m on team Lucy.
“I’m not sure you’ve been listening Lu,” Peter dismisses, much to my frustration.
“No, you’re not listening,” she fires back uncharacteristically. “Or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch?”
Lucy has a point there. I raise my brows, suppressing a smirk. Out of my peripheral vision I see Edmund checking for my reaction. I glance at the youngest boy.
“You should say something,” he advice.
I shake my head, denying the chance. There’s no way am I doing that.
“I believe we’ve waited for Aslan long enough,” Peter states to his sister.
What happened to the Peter who spoke so highly of the Guardian of Narnia? He praised Aslan and now he’s losing faith in him.
“Y/N, what do you think?”
I’m pulled from my train of thought upon hearing Peter saying my name. I scan the room and everyone’s eyes are on me, even the squirrels.
“Me?” I laugh nervously, rising to my feet. “I’m not sure I’m the best person to talk to.”
“But you are the fairest,” Susan compliments.
“Definitely the most patient,” Edmund adds by my feet.
Rubbing my hands together anxiously, I steadily approach Peter. I know what he wants me to say, he wants my support. I do support Peter as an individual, no matter what, but I can’t condone war. He likely knows what I’m going to say, he knew when he asked for my opinion. Yet, he asked for it anyway, perhaps out of hope that I’ve had a change of heart in the circumstance.
The room falls silent as Peter and I study each other’s face, silently pleading with the other to comply.
“You know I don’t believe violence is ever the answer,” I reason with him calmly.
“But we’re at war!” He fusses, pacing away from me in frustration.
I scoff, pausing to processes his words. He can’t be serious right now? After the last three years, he doesn’t think I’m well acquainted with what war means?
I lose my temper. “You don’t think I know that?!”
Peter whips his head around furiously and murmurs erupt amongst the Narnians. I’ve just yelled at their High King.
“We’ve been at war in our world for years now!” I shout at ‘King Peter,’ more like self-righteous Peter. “I know war! I understand war! What I don’t understand is creating more damage than necessary! Miraz is your problem? Target him! Attack him, not the entire palace where innocent lives could be taken!”
Peter pants, his red with anger as he restrains himself from yelling. Peter and I have only argued like this perhaps twice in our lives. Even in those instances, the reasons were never as imperative as this one. We argued about childish things, jealousy, and sharing. Now, we’re arguing about war and the priority of life. I’m only a teenager, these are conversations for adults.
I shake my head and my face falls in disappointment as I continue to look at my best friend. His eyes shift from expressing overpowering aggravation to guilt. Silently, I rush to the hall leading to the rest of the hideout. Peter reaches for me as I pass him, but I slip my wrist from his grip.
“Y/N!” Peter calls pleadingly to which I ignore.
I won’t participate in this discussion further. Peter and everyone else knows where I stand now, no need to stick around.
____________________________________________
The sunsets over Aslan’s How and soon the starry sky hangs overhead. I’ve been hiding on top of the How on the patches of grass since the meeting. At first, I was fuming. Peter isn’t being reasonable! He’s trying to prove himself to the Narnians and Caspian that he’s still this great king from before. I can tell he’s guilt-ridden because of his accidental return to our world, all of the Pevensies are.
“Why are you awake so late?”
A voice pulls me from my train of thought. Caspian strolls over to me and sits down on the grass next to me, resting against the rocks of the fortress.
“I can’t sleep,” I mumble as I play with a blade of grass. “I haven’t been able to.”
“I can assure you you’re safe here,” Caspian smiles faintly.
It’s not that I feel unsafe here per se. It’s my mind, it won’t stop wondering. Whenever I close my eyes, I’m afraid of what I’ll dream of.
“I don’t doubt it. I just...” I release a deep sigh, looking out over the field ahead. “It’s all just overwhelming.”
One minute, I’m on my way to school as I do each day, nothing exciting there. Then the next, I’m in some foreign land surrounded by mythical creatures who I was led to believe only existed in fantasy novels.
I turn my head to Caspian, admiring his side profile. “What keeps you up?” I ask him quietly.
He shifts, relaxing more into his position, and turns his head to meet my gaze. His jet black eyes that match his hair glisten under the stars. Little specks of white glimmer in them like stars.
“I uh... “ he swallows hard, his eyes flickering to the bit of ground between us. “Whenever I close my eyes I see my uncle’s face. When I try to sleep, I...”
I place my hand over him without a second thought. His sight returns to mine with a hint of surprise. Yet, he still appears troubled. I offer him a comforting smile, hoping it will grant him peace of mind.
“Nightmares are perfectly normal, Caspian.”
He nods, coming to terms with it. “Would you mind if I stay here with you for a little while?”
My smile grows and ease of relief across his features. “Not at all.”
______________________________________
Chatter, the sound of pounding metal, and birds chirping increase at a rapid rate. I shift a little, groaning at the sudden surge of disturbing sound. I can see light behind my closed eyes, so I hide my eyes in my hands. Utterly exhausted, I grant myself five more minutes. I moan, stretching out slightly to get comfortable again. I feel a weight on my waist and it tightens around me. Then, I feel something against my back and hear a deep sigh as warm breath brushes against my shoulder. I relax, a faint smile appearing across my lips.
Similar to a blast, I fly up from my laid position. My eyes adjust to the bright light of day slowly and I frantically search the area around me. Caspian awakes beside me in a panic due to my sudden surge of movement. Oh no, this is not good!
“Oh no, by all means, don’t scurry on my account” Trumpkin makes himself known a few feet away. “I was just about to throw up!”
i growl at the dwarf and rise from the ground. “Must you be so crude?”
Brushing down my dress, I march off to the path leading down to the How’s entrance. I hear Caspian chase after me.
“Y/N wait!” He calls.
Ignoring him, I continue my hurried pace down to the ground.  Peter is likely having a fit wondering where I am. Falling asleep with Caspian on top of the How was not on my to-do list.
Right as I reach the stone path leading into the alcove, Caspian grabs my wrist. “Do you think we can train together today?”
I laugh, does he think me to be Joan of Arc? I’ve never fought a day in my life!
“Me? Train with you? I’m no soldier, I would ask Edmund or Peter. They’re far better than me,” I suggest as I start to walk away.
The Prince jogs ahead and blocks my path, placing his hand gently on my arm. “Well maybe so, but then we can learn together.”
Peter wouldn’t like it, that much I know for sure. He hardly let me borrow Edmund’s Katana. Since then, I’ve never actually used it. I drew it in the woods when Caspian and Peter were fighting, but I don’t know the first thing about defending myself.
“Alright,” I comply, much to Caspian’s pleasure. Perhaps it is to my benefit to training. After all, I suppose there will be a battle eventually, though I’ll do everything I can to stop it. “But I don’t think we should do it here,” I add.
He frowns, “why not?”
I raise my brows at the boy. “Have you met Peter?”
He snickers, understanding my point. “Okay, maybe you’re right. We could try by the river!”
“Alright,” I nod. “We should go now.”
I cautiously check around us to make sure no one overheard before heading inside. Other than a few Narnians transporting supplies and weaponry, we’re in the clear. As long as none of the Pevensies find out, especially Peter, Caspian and I should be okay.
__________________________________
Caspian and I have been training all afternoon by the river. I’m actually better than I thought I’d be. Once Caspian taught me some basic motions, I learned I could build off of them. At first, he was going easy on me, changing positions slower than he really would in a fight. As I started to get used to having a weapon in my hand, I could imagine it as an extension of my arm like Caspian instructed. Soon, I was putting up a real fight against Caspian. I spin and swing my sword to meet his blade at an angle.
Face to face, Caspian laughs breathlessly. “And you swear you’ve never used a sword!”
“No, we don’t exactly need them in Finchley,” I snicker.
“What is your world like?” He asks as he changes our position and nearly knocks my katana from my hands.
“It’s not necessarily exciting,” I grunt as I drop to a squat to sweep his legs.
He jumps to dodge the move, landing on his feet perfectly. “Tell me about it. What do you like to do there?”
I snicker, stepping to the side to swing my blade down onto his shoulder. “Are you wanting to know more about my world or more about me?”
Caspian takes advantage of my uneven stance and grabs my arm. Swiftly he spins me around and yanks me into his chest. I accidentally drop my sword and his hand wraps around my neck.
“You,” he whispers in my ear.
I swallow hard, glancing down at my katana laying in the plush grass just a few feet away. Keeping the status quo, I play along. “I like the ocean, but your’s here is far prettier,” I distract him. “When I was younger, my father used to take my family sailing on holiday... but that was years ago.”
His grasp around my neck eases up slightly and I take the chance to slip from his hold. I fall to my knees and reach for my Katana. I grip it’s handled right as Caspian rolls me over onto my back and climbs on top of me. He pins my wrists above my head.
“Why did you stop going?” He pants, referring to my story.
“The war,” I answer softly, my breathing uneven. “He died in a battle in France.”
His face falters sorrowly and his pressure on my wrists subsides. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“It’s alright,” I mutter, not seeking his sympathy. “But now you understand why I don’t believe in war.”
“I lost my father many years ago too,” he confesses.
The despair in his eyes nearly breaks my strong facade. No one should have to lose a parent, especially at a young age. Losing a father leaves a greater hole in one’s heart than most can predict. There are far more long-lasting effects deeply rooted in the experience than meets the eye. I’ve put on a strong face for my family and friends for so long that I’ve grown used to it. None of them understand. Yet here, I’m faced with someone who does.
“Then you truly understand.”
My words release in a whisper, the relief evident in my voice. Caspian nods gently, then his eyes flicker down at my lips. I bite down on the lower, tempted. No, I can’t do it. Peter’s face flashes across my mind. Yet, I can’t deny the alluring feel I have in Caspian's presence. At this moment it’s never been stronger. Caspian leans down, hovering over my face closer than before. My eyes uncontrollably fall to his parted lips. If he kissed me, I wouldn’t deny him. In fact, I find myself wishing he would. My eyes fall shut and his lips brush against mine.
“Y/N!” Peter’s voice booms over the otherwise peaceful wood.
