i keep seeing sad posts talking about "may castellan making sandwiches every day waiting in hopes that her son will return" and.
guys.
there is no hope for may castellan. she is not waiting at the door with lunch and a tentative smile, waiting for him to come home even though he didn't yesterday, or yesterday, or yesterday, or yesterday. "in hopes" implies that there will come a day when that hope fades. in hopes implies she knows the odds are bad. in hopes implies reality will eventually catch up to her.
there is no hope for may castellan.
she is not waiting in hopes for her son to return. she is preparing, day after day after day (after day after day after day after day after) for the inevitability that luke will return to her. she does not know he is dead. she does not understand he is gone. she does not realize that time has passed; to her luke is nine, still. to her she is still placidly awaiting to return of a fourth grader. luke is not nineteen and betraying his camp. he is not twenty and housing a titan. he is not twenty one and watching his friends get slaughtered in an arena, twenty-two and forcing his sister to hold up the sky, twenty three and realizing, soul shuddering in his chest, that he has made a mistake he can never take back, that he can never undo what he has done.
luke castellan to his mother is a child who has not yet lost all his baby teeth. the cookies she makes for him are soft, because she remembers that. he still leaves the crust behind on his sandwiches. he has scrapes on his elbows and dirt on his nose. he flinches before he hugs her. he spends a lot of time outside, but he comes home before dark.
may castellan's tragedy is not that she is penelope waiting for odysseus to one day return and we know that he will not. may castellan's tragedy is that she does not understand her hero has left at all. may castellan's tragedy is that she will never understand, and she will continue to age, and continue to deteriorate, and one day she will die and she will spend eternity walking the dying poplar fields, whittled down to the memory of something missing from her.
there is no hope for may castellan.

Nico: 0h yeah, I scared him so bad he screamed at the top of his lungs. I almost pissed myself laughing. He just sat back down told me to fuck off.

One of Nicos love languages is acts of service and goes out of his way constantly to learn how to do things for the ones closest to him.
Example one: he goes to Annabeth and asks her to teach him how to braid and take care of type four hair so that he can help Hazel do her hair whenever she comes to visit. (He ends up being really good at it and learns how to do a bunch of different styles and occasionally he'll have other people in camp asking him to do their hair and he finds he actually quite enjoys it)
Example two: he goes to Kayla and Austin and asks them to teach him ASL so that he can communicate with Will even when Will is not using his hearing aids. (They recommend that he learn more from an actual deaf person so they teach him some basic greeting signs and he learns the rest from Will) (Will absolutely lights up when Nico signs to him for the first time)
Kinda reversed example: he finds out that Jason never learned how to cook (because he lived at Camp Jupiter his whole life) and would like to learn, so him and Leo teach him how to. (It's a long and very VERY messy process in which they are all covered in a variety of ingredients, but Jason only exploded one toaster and set two fires so they're calling it a success).

"but you're just so cool" "run your hands through your hair" "absentmindedly making me want you"
pairings: percy jackson x fem!reader
warnings/tags: none, just percy being oblivious.
summary: you have a crush on a certain sea green eyed demigod.
percy jackson, the son of poseidon and the hero of camp half-blood, was renowned for many things: his bravery, his loyalty, and his apparent inability to notice romantic interest directed towards him.
from afar, you admired percy's courage and wit, but whenever you tried to engage him in conversation, your words tangled like vines, leaving you feeling awkward and tongue-tied.
one sunny afternoon, you found yourself at the camp's training arena, stealing glances at percy as he effortlessly wielded his sword, deflecting imaginary foes with practiced ease while running his fingers through his hair to keep it from falling into his face. lost in admiration, you failed to notice a fellow camper, sauntering up to you.
"hey y/n," they greeted with a grin, their confidence evident in every step. "what brings you here?"
startled by their sudden appearance, you stuttered, "oh, uh, just watching percy train. he's…amazing, isn't he?"
their eyes followed your gaze to percy, "yeah, he's something, all right. but you know, there are other heroes around here too."
percy watched your interaction with the camper unfold, a pang of something unfamiliar tugged at his heartstrings. he frowned, puzzled by the sudden twinge of jealousy that stirred within him. why did he care so much about your interactions with someone else?
percy approached, his expression curious. "hey, y/n, everything okay?"
caught off guard, you blushed furiously, your words faltering once again. but before you could embarrass herself further, the camper interjected smoothly, "just fine, percy. y/n here was just admiring your skills. quite the admirer you've got, eh?"
percy blinked in surprise, then turned to you with a sheepish grin. "is that so? well, thanks, y/n. i appreciate it."
as percy wandered off to resume his training, you felt a mixture of disappointment and frustration swirling within you. how could he be so oblivious?
later that evening, you sat by the campfire, your thoughts still lingering on percy. lost in reverie, you didn't notice him approaching until he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"hey, y/n," percy said, scratching the back of his neck. "i, uh, couldn't help but notice earlier…what the camper said. about you admiring me."
your heart fluttered, your cheeks flushing with warmth. "oh, that? yeah, i guess i do admire you. but it's not just your skills in battle. it's…everything about you."
percy's eyes widened, a hint of realization dawning in his sea-green depths. "wow, i…i had no idea. i guess i've been pretty oblivious, huh?"
you couldn't help but laugh softly. "just a little. but hey, better late than never, right?"
a tentative smile tugged at percy's lips. "yeah, definitely. so, um, y/n… would you maybe want to go for a walk with me tomorrow? just the two of us?"
your heart soared, your smile radiant. "i'd love to, percy."

Jason : (nomming on carrots)
Thalia: DONT EAT THOSE YOU ARE ALLERGIC I REMEMBER THAT IT WILL HURT
Jason: I’m what?
Thalia: allergic! Like you’re gonna have an allergic reaction! Does your mouth feel itchy?
Jason: yeah… but it’s food. The idea of not eating food because it makes your mouth itchy is stupid
Thalia: what???!?!
Jason: well everyone knows that food is always scarce and hard to find and you have to earn food and it’s a privilege that can be taken away. So if I get carrots I have to eat them because if I don’t I might not find other food.
Thalia: …you know food is like… something that you have a choice with right?
Jason: that’s funny. No it’s not

“After you.”
“Nerd.”
Nico tugs on a curl as he walks by Will’s bowed head, scoffing when Will winks at him. His hand lingers, though, waiting for Will to kick the door shut, trailing past his ear and down his neck and twisting down his arm, sliding down to his palm. His fingers are cold, as they always are, and Will brings them up to his mouth and kisses them, gently, and Nico rolls his eyes then, too, but the smile pushes out onto his face anyway.
“You can’t be doing all this in public,” he scolds.
“You started it,” Will points out, even though he’d be doing this anyway. Cursed be the day Will has Nico next to him and keeps his distance. He can’t imagine it. When he is around him he often feels like the desperately spinning needle in an old compass. Whirling around to find his source, his true North.
“Stop saying mushy shit in your head.”
“Out loud it is, then.” He clears his throat. “Oh, Nico, shimmering stars in my skies —”
They’re loud, far too loud, for this time in the morning, and even Nico’s slapping hands and laughing shushes do nothing to keep the infirmary quiet, but Will can’t bring himself to care. Partially because each one of the fuckers kept him busy for hours yesterday, straight through lunch, but mostly because the freshly risen sun beams almost directly onto Nico’s face, melting his eyes into pools of amber, and he smiles in that quiet, private way of his, close-lipped and crooked. There is breath in Will’s lungs, he knows it, but his body forgets, and all he can see hear think feel is the shape of Nico’s smile, and the slope of his nose, and the feel of his cool roughened hands on Will’s face.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmurs, and the words are muffled by his palms but the sincerity is not. The sincerity is punched out of him like the air hisses out of the gills of a hooked fish.
Nico huffs. “You’re buttering me up.” But he is preening; shoulders shuddering and eyelashes fluttering at the praise. At the wideness of Will’s eyes, the brazen, blatant awe.
He doesn’t let Will look long, because he rarely does, but he pulls away with a smile, softens his distance with three quick squeezes to Will’s fingers, with a brush of his hair. He stalks over to the nurse’s station, humming, plucking the clipboard from the wall and inspecting it, pulling his own crumpled paper from his pocket and smoothing it out side by side. Will trails by after him, plucking his coat from the bench and shrugging it on.
“Where are you today?”
“Arena, mostly. Kiddie classes today. You in here all day?”
Will looks over at the sleeping Hermes kids — all nineteen of them — and sighs. “Yep.”
“Won’t see you much, then.”
“Ugh.”
“However will you survive.”
“Maybe I have a nervous breakdown and get reassigned. You think I’d thrive in California? Maybe Pennhurst —”
“Oh my gods.”
There’s no one quite as effective as shutting Will the fuck up as Nico. Something about him just makes him pensive, makes him reflective. Makes him realise that time is limited and silence holds weight, that moments of quiet tranquility are infinitely more valuable than one realises outside of them.
Also tonsil hockey. That works pretty well, Will has to admit. Lou Ellen has disgustingly described it as ‘Will’s off button being located in the back of his throat’, which, fair, but she shouldn’t have said it.
“Have a good day at work,” Nico murmurs, pecking Will’s pout. “Try not to commit medical malpractice. Or negligence.”
“…I might do negligence.”
“Oh, shut up. You love your job.”
“I love you,” Will grumbles, his own smile twitching behind pressed-closed lips. “My job drains me and violates several labour laws.”
Conveniently ignoring the second half of his complaint, because he loves to watch Will suffer, apparently, Nico murmurs “Love you too, drama queen, I’ll bring you lunch,” kisses him again, and then jogs off, headed for the Arena.
Will sighs, turning to his clipboard, and starts running through a list of every god he knows, thanking them for Nico.
He’s pretty lucky.

Do you think that Percy was written badly in Heros of Olympus
Hi!!
I think he was written fairly well in Son of Neptune and while he was in Tartarus.
Pretty much all of the other parts of HoO? Yeah he was written badly. I mean, so much was out of character:
The weird competition thing Jason and Percy had
Not going feral over protecting Nico like he did in PJO (reminder: Percy literally took on the great prophecy to protect Nico)
The boasting and showing off all his talents- he's literally the opposite in PJO
Wanting to see Hercules - was everything in TTC erased? Did Rick forget that he established that the only reason why Percy liked Hercules in SoM was because his luck was worse than Percy's?
I could go on for hours. None of that was in character for Percy.
Thanks for the ask!
