You Know...?
Imagine being a teenager living on an island where a idiot king like Polydectes forcefully tries to marry your mother Danaë and making impossible the live of your adoptive parents unless you accomplish a series of task that involve your death; with a sheer of luck you get rid of Medusa but then you have to rescue a princess whose mother is a pain in the ass from a sea monster, later, fighting the consort of said princess who doesn't give two shits about the well-being of Andromeda, and then rescuing your mother from Polydectes and thanking your adoptive parents with a powerful gesture of giving to them the crown of the island for the Tumblrinas to imagine you as a raging asshole and wanting you dead because D A D D Y Ovid and your pop mythology authors are always right. What a bummer.

my thoughts before the PJO finale
overall? A good fun show but with some definite stumbling. Faithful in a "remake" sense, but as much as a "port" would be. Still a genuinely good time with a likeable cast, gorgeous visuals, and an engaging (mostly) interesting plot.
Beware spoilers for ep1-7!
My biggest gripes
Pacing. the first episode was horribly paced. Somehow both rushed, not well condensed, and yet also failed to effectively deliver tension in important scenes it was needed in. Scenes like the minotaur felt dragged out and lacked the urgency it deserved, and the fight/victory fell kind of flat. Pacing got better in later episodes thankfully.
Sally Jackson. Yeah I know, not a hot take. She's a more realistic depiction of a mother in that kind of situation but I didn't find her likeable outside of her first scene talking about the name Perseus. She's not necessarily a "Bad Character" per se, but she is not the Sally Jackson from the books. Frankly, I didn't find book Sally all that important, but seeing this version has definitely wised me up to importance of her kindness and patience. Sure she might have seemed like a "doormat" at the beginning, but the more u learnt about her, the more her inner strength and self sacrificial love for Percy was apparent. TV Sally just doesn't have that, it doesn't feel like she has that much affection for Percy, she seems more distant and less loving. TV Sally has far too many scenes of her raising her voice at Percy and being frustrated with him, it makes it seem more like she was randomly stuck with this child and while she loves him, she knows deep down she would have been happier without him. Again, understandable but not book Sally. I feel they've sort of played up Percy's fierce love for his mum (or maybe it just feels more so because its more present in his spoken lines), but it doesn't feel as justified. If anything, id believe a more messy wrought relationship between the two. Its not a bad thing she's not the exact same as her book counterpart, but I do think it was a bad decision when they went so hard on Percy being ride or die for her, when most of her longer scenes are her being just frustrated with Percy being a child.
Gabe. ok more of a hot take I guess but I seriously disagree with his re-characterization. I don't mean to downplay anyone's experiences with toxic or abusive partners, but Gabe is far too bland and inoffensive. At worst, he's kind of annoying and maybe lazy. But he is nothing like the human sht stain that was book Gabe. Book Gabe deserved petrification and a lot worse, TV Gabe does not. The guy deserves a break up, not murder. Me and my friend actually laughed at him, because he didn't give "beats his wife and emotionally abuses her and her child", he gave "dead beat crypto boyfriend". Maybe it was the casting as well, the actor was funny and just seemed more goofy than actively horrid. "what makes u think he hasn't hit sally?" have u met TV Sally?? are u kidding me? she would have that man arrested.
Hades. I don't actually dislike making Hades friendly and more sassy. Sure its not book accurate, but you could argue its a little more mythologically accurate (maybe). My real problem is that he lacks PRESCENCE. Yes he can be nicer ect in this, but he is still the GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD. He should still be able to command a room! His words, even if they're not malicious or intimidating, should hold a certain kind of weight. I don't blame the actor here, I think he does well with what he's given but pretty much everyone else dropped the ball here. If they had supported him, we could have had a friendly Hades that was still a fitting lord of the underworld. Writers, directors, lighting, sound, ect let him down.
Persassy. Percy was great in the beginning but I felt like he started to lose that as the show went on, to give more of his lines/sassy moments to the other members of the trio. Which wasn't a terrible idea, I just think they did it too much, especially with the Ares scenes. Percy is meant to have an epic beef with Ares so much it transcends magic amnesia, but I could not believe that with the current lack of sass. Even the upcoming battle doesn't feel as weighty or deserved as it should. Again, don't hate the idea of sharing the sass around, just don't think it should come at the cost of Percy being toned down so much.
Getting into the underworld / mattress scene WHAT WAS THAT. I can accept that Percy knows more about Greek mythology because of his mom and i feel generally from just current cultural zeitgeist, but WHY THE HELL WOULD HE KNOW WHO CRUSTY IS?? and why was it so quick? there was no quick desperate clever thinking, it was like bro had read the scene from the book and then SPEED RAN IT. Also the Charon scene was far more interesting imo and I don't like that they cut it in favour for Crusty, without even doing that scene well. God that was so poorly executed.
Anyway thanks for reading my rant. Its long so it may seem like I didn't like the series but im being truthful when I say I did. I pretty much liked the rest of it, even some of the changes. I thinks a good show and adaption with some flaws, thats all. Im excited to finish up the season and im so pumped for season 2 and hopefully the rest of the series :D

Look, I didn't want to be "that" person
who criticizes something just because "it was different in the books".
But I love PJO just way too much to not feel frustrated at the tendencies of modern adaptations that I think new series is suffering from. And I feel much more frustrated because in others aspects the new show is great.
First of all, what's with this downplayed brutality of PJO world? The moment Sally started her speech about Perseus I smelled trouble. In her story, in her reasoning she named him after Perseus because of this beautiful story where happy ending is just something that happens. While in the books thats a huge deal that Percy is named after THE ONLY HALF-BLOOD HERO that had that happy ending. That fact is supposed to highlight the mortality rates and that for most of these demigods happy ending is pretty much NOT IN PROSPECT. Like, despite that rambling post I'm usually fine with some differences that are made in adaptations, most of them I usually can understand. But why do you need change the message of "I named you that way because I hope you will live happily ever after despite being in constant danger" to "I named you that way because it's a beautiful story about a mother and a son"? Especially when they absolutely could do both?
Secondly, the Gabe issue. You see, Percy Jackson books were great because they were able to discuss with children some pretty heavy themes without downplaying them - like domestic abuse. And that scene with poker players and Gabe getting from Percy money was brilliant because it showed that Gabe was so awful that he took everything he could even from a 12 y.o. There were also heavy implications that he beat Percy. But now Gabe is just your usual jerk who is lazy and doesn't have a good relationship with his stepson and argues with his wife all the time. Look, I know, that is awful too, I know that. But the point of Gabe that he was absolutely the worst. That he's the worst of the worst that's why he smells on this metaphysical level and is able to hide Percy. That he kinda deserved what happened to him in the end. And now I sure that we won't get that end because apparently that stuff is too brutal for kids. If they're afraid that much younger audience would get shocked by it they could at least do that in hints, you know. Old shows were great with things that you didn't understand as a child and then later while rewatching them you finally could get the message.
And what's with this Grover thing? Okay, I understand they probably didn't have the time for establishing why Percy would feel betrayed by his teacher but wanted to save this "low point" for Percy's character. But why? Why? How Percy as a character and we as viewers are supposed to feel that amazing friendship if it started for us with betrayal? That just sucked.
Also, personal flaw - they really could insert "This is a pen" line when Brunner gave Percy the pen. They really could and that would be so awesome. But they didn't.
And the sad part is that now I understand that there was no way they could include this important stuff in the series. Because Disney is too afraid to show domestic abuse. They afraid to show Sally Jackson that put up with heavy abuse just to keep her son safe. They afraid to show that literal children die in PJO world. That that half-blood stuff is no game - as Percy said in the very first minute of the series. For fuck's sake they didn't even mention him having ADHD! They implied that by saying that he was being weird! That was so so so so important that those things that kids with ADHD are struggling make them so special and strong in their own way. And now that message is gone too.
And all of that is because Disney doesn't have any balls left. It's like they sanitize everything they make into that 0+ versions of stories while sometimes the point of the story is in discussing something from a real, sad and unsanitized world.
The stuff I listed is just from the first episode and I don't know if the show will go that way, if this tendency of sanitizing the story will continue or not. I'm just really afraid that all of that means that they decided to leave out all the brutality that made Percy Jackson so iconic. It is like watching this new version of Harry Potter where he doesn't live under the stairs - that maybe doesn't change much story-wise but it's just not the same Harry Potter that way.
I want to like the show, I really do. Walker is so amazing is this role. Other actors are really great. I see the effort, I see how people tried to make this adaptation as close to books as they could. The show looks truly amazing. The fight with minotaur was absolutely stunning. Ending sequence is a masterpiece. I have so many good things I can say about it. But those little things they changed - they weren't little at all. A huge chunk of what made those books so special at least for me is gone (especially in comparison with Harry Potter books). And I can't help feeling sad.

ways they could've kept the theme of the gods punishing people labeled as monsters and it's actually more complicated then that" without including the bullshit sexist Ovid "myth" of Athena and Poseidon:
Athena is still the one that helps Perseus slay Medusa, so it would still make sense for her to hate Athena and by proxy Annabeth. To Medusa she was just out here living her life, her and her sisters were just existing. And then the gods suddenly decided she deserved to die. And in most versions of the myth Perseus was just after her essentially as a spoil of war, to offer her head to a king. Or, as a tool to kill said king. She could be angry about that, angry at Athena for helping a couple of mortals kill her, angry at demigods and men for using her as a tool or prop for their own selfish reasons. Angry that she's still considered a monster in need of slaying, and not a woman, a person. Gorgons were considered powerful, revered even. Their visage in Ancient Greece was used above doorways, on coins and jewelry, as a symbol of protection. Like there's such good material here, that's actually accurate to Greek myths and doesn't perpetrate the writing of some misogynistic Roman poet.

Honestly fucking upsets me every time I see art of Perseus killed (by Andromeda or Medusa).
He doesn't deserve that!
AND NEITHER DOES DANAE.
Like fuck all the way off and I won't trust or like anyone who thinks this is a good or interesting take or a better way for the story to go. I hope we're going to acknowledge that Danae will now be stuck in an unwanted marriage and sexually assaulted for as long as Polydectes is interested in doing that AND she's lost her son. :)

this is strange. and exciting. And that's a good thing. Jupiter wants to capture every moment of this in his mind. Hold hands and do not kiss, lie down next to each other, belly to belly, do not touch with your hands, light kisses on the temple, cheek, forehead, crown, soft hugs on the shoulders and lie on each other's lap. It's much more than just friendship, but less than romance, Jupiter is still amazed by this closeness, and that's more than enough for him. Perseus is beautiful, but Jupiter does not want to share a bed with him, instead he hugs him around the waist and rests his head on his shoulder as he prepares cupcakes in the kitchen to give them to a young single mother who recently moved into his apartment building. And they hardly talk. Although they don't need to talk, Jupiter understands too easily when Perseus doesn't want to hug, Perseus understands when Jupiter wants a kiss on the forehead. They drink champagne on Friday nights, watching some silly romantic comedy, Perseus' laughter sounds soft and unobtrusive like the first song of spring birds, their hands sometimes touch it causes pleasant goosebumps, Jupiter reads Percy aloud, Percy sings to him. They fall asleep under a warm blanket, lying incredibly close, it is pleasant to feel Perseus' warm breath on his nose. This is good, incredibly good, but Jupiter understands that he is not enough and that he is not the one who is needed. Perseus is getting better, but he still locks himself in the bathroom and sits there for hours clutching Jason's photo to his chest. His quiet sobs make Jupiter's nonexistent heart bleed. He finds a solution pretty quickly, it's simple, time-tested and correct, Jupiter is sure of it. During the next winter solstice, he asks Pluto, who is surprised, but quickly agrees and gives the order to Mercury. Mercury brings the treasured bottle of shining golden liquid a few weeks later. And Jupiter gets to work - it's difficult, especially difficult because it's not the essence of his divinity, but the essence of the soul and the divine principle of his son, labour lasts all night. The boy, blond, with pale smooth skin, so similar to Beryl and possessing wonderful eyes of Perseus, makes his first cry along with the first rays of the sun. Jupiter does not show any feelings for him, does not hold him to himself and does not calm him down, he does not belong to him, although he wants to - he just wraps the newborn in a soft blanket and puts it in a basket. Perseus first presses the baby to his chest and then raises gentle, somewhat melancholy eyes to him. He had already accepted that he would most likely become the father of a demigod. Jupiter shakes his head, No, he's not ours, he's yours and Jason's. Perseus changes before his eyes, his face brightens with happiness, his eyes become many times brighter, a wide smile oozing with delight dissects his face, he sobs, kissing the baby on the forehead. Jupiter is leaving, there is no place for him anymore, the time they spent with Perseus is over, now there is only a small family of a young father and a newborn son, he has a grandson and needs to come to terms. The storm is raging from his suppressed feelings, Juno is waiting for him in the bedroom, she is full of determination and tenderness at the same time, it is strange and similar to Perseus. "This is our boy," Juno says, taking his face in her palm, "Mine, yours, Jason and Perseus, he our boy."
Hey, hello! could you please rate and voice your opinion about my letter - beginner anon.
Shared parentage is an awesome way to go. I’m slightly concerned for the baby because of al the gods involved in his creation but Percy has always been deserving of fatherhood.
Juno and Jupiter being soft in the boy who’s technically their grandson would be adorable but Percy would probably defend the baby with everything he has.

since growing up, "Lily was the unholy union of horribly abused and spoiled rotten" would you say that her environment and childhood experiences were a deciding factor in how she turned out? Not saying it excuses her actions, but no one is born evil (despite what some ppl claim), everyone is the product of their environment and trauma has a strong effect a child's mental development, theres even evidence (I think) that it can change brain structure.
While Courtney went through similar experiences each person's circumstances is unique-how they react to abuse, the presence of a supportive network and other factors that decide how someone turns out.
I also feel some empathy for the abuse Lily went through that she never should have happened, and I wonder if thats a bad thing.
i'm sorry but i fully disagree. on this context at least. yes, every kid deserves a loving and safe environment and it's truly awful that both LO and Courtney didn't get one. yes, lack of option/resources/help from a broken system that doesn't actually care about children or helping victims is a tragedy. yes, the environment we grow up in has a lot to do with the kind of person we end up becoming. yes, the way trauma can mess up are horrible and every survivor deserves basic human compassion because nobody deserves abuse. but none of that is an excuse for hurting anyone else. it's not even an explanation. we're all fully responsible for the action we decide to take. no one is free of that. LO chose to keep perseuing her sister even after she was so terrified of her that Courtney had to threaten her life. that didn't stop her. LO chose to use her trauma as an excuse for why she's allowed to abuse everyone else, including her audience and her own wife. LO chose to catfish Brittany for years in order to get non consentual nudes out of her and other women. LO chose to manipulate and coerce Lizzy into doing sexual art she never wanted to make. LO chose to manipulate and cheat on with Patch. LO chose to lie and smear all of them when they spoke up, including her sister. she did all of that willingly and freely herself. nobody forced her hand into being like that. she always had the option of stopping or change and she never did. she's not a victim of circumstances anymore when she decided to do all of that. as i have said many times before, LO wants us to believe she can only be a victim and stay with that image alone to forget her abuser side. she wants us to act like a person can only be one thing and one thing alone all through their life, but that's not true. you can be a victim and victimize others. you're not responsible for the first one, but you're for the second, always. i know the impulse of wanting to look into her past to make sense of her actions and i even understand wanting to feel bad for what she went through. but please, let us not lose sight of all the other victims that she herself created and all the potential victim that she could keep creating if she has the chance to. let's not forget that through all these years, despite how many times her victims have spoken up how much LO hurt them and traumatize them, LO has never shown remorse or any willingness to change.

'diana! come on,' you whine, 'we're never gonna leave at this rate!'
diana pauses in the action of pulling on her socks and stares at you blankly, 'i thought we were going to see the stars, dear. give me two more minutes.'
'that's the fourth time you've said two more minutes!'
laughing and bickering, you two set off the garden path towards the woods where you would be able to see the constellations. you were an avid lover of astrology, and diana was more than happy to go along, so you were currently making your way to a favorite spot of stargazing.
the climb through the hills to reach the woods was quite strenuous and you were both properly exhausted by the time you got there. diana sat down next to you and put her arms around her knees; then looking at you expectantly, 'so? what are we waiting for?'
you didn't answer, instead gazing at the stars contentedly. then, you raised your hand and motioned to a constellation of a young girl chained to a rock.
'look, diana. do you see that constellation?'
'obviously.'
'that's the constellation of andromeda. in ancient greece, andromeda was a beautiful princess, the daughter of king cepheus and queen cassiopeia, aetheopia.'
'okay.' diana turned to look at the constellation of the once delightful princess, now forever chained in the sky. 'so what happened? why is she chained?'
you sighed. 'well, andromeda's mother, the queen, boasted that she was more beautiful than the nereids, who were the sea nymphs.'
'so?'
'you did not go boasting about your beauty in ancient greece. that's how you got people killed. or worse.'
silence.
'usually worse.'
diana shakes her head and her long, golden blonde hair seems to glow in the silvery comfort of the stars. 'so what became of cass-something?'
'well, the nereids, who were friendly with poseidon, were offended. so poseidon sent a great sea monster to attack.'
diana glances at you, wide eyed. 'go on.'
'well. andromeda was chained to the rock to be sacrificed to cetus, the sea monster, as a sacrifice to sooth it.'
'but that's not fair! the girl didn't boast.'
'your point?' you take a deep breath. 'so, andromeda was chained on that rock. the great hero perseus saw her.'
'perseus.' diana whispers. 'perseus...it rings a bell.'
you point at the sky. 'that's him.'
the constellation shows the great hero perseus, raising a diamond sword above his head with one hand and holding the severed neck of medusa in the other.
'so perseus saw her, and fell in love with her beauty. he also wanted to help andromeda. so he slew the monster cetus, freed andromeda, and married her.'
diana gazes up at the sky in silence. the stars blink and twinkle and shine, vast beings of mystery. how many more tales are contained in the sky? how many people loved, and died, and were recorded and preserved permanently in majestic bodies? andromeda didn't deserve what happened to her; how many more stories of suppressed life are held in the arms of the world?
she doesn't know what makes her do it, but she turns to you, taking your face in her hands and kissing you. you were most beautiful when you were mesmerized by the sheer beauty of it all, the passion for astrology showing clearly in your content, glad eyes.
'diana?'
'kiss me back.'

he already knows what's coming . he's been expecting it , honestly ; after all , he DID give the mayor's son a nasty black eye . he doesn't see the point in hiding it , as in his mind , he's done nothing wrong even if he knows finnick won't see it that way . but with the way the people in their district talk about his brother , there's no way percy can idly stand by .
Tumblr media
he sits cross - legged on his bed , head dropped and eyes focused on his bruised and bloody knuckles as his hands rest in his lap . he doesn't bother looking up when his brother enters the room , not wanting to see his expression . " before you yell , " he starts , shifting in his seat . " he absolutely deserved it . "

Charms and Bluebells and Summer 1912 (link)
Summary: Leta doesn't want to go home for the summer, but she doesn't want to talk about it either. Newt makes her a flower crown and writes his mum. Some love is so obvious it doesn't need to be spoken.
did I write this in my notes app in a haze this morning? Yes. Do I care? No. I’m doing anything I can to not fall back into shutdown mode at this point so *shoves fic at you and runs away* (I’ve included the whole text under the cut in addition to the link to AO3 because it’s only 1.5k words. I hope you enjoy. <3) PS - LETA DESERVED BETTER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exams were three weeks away.
Newt and Leta had spent all of the day before studying in their cupboard—(though, admittedly, they’d spent an hour of that knocking each other about with shields and jinxes, because Leta was convinced Newt was going to get himself killed in the forest if he didn’t brush up on his defensive magic)—and, after a boring morning quizzing each other on 15th century history, they’d thoroughly given up by lunch, changing out of their uniforms and fleeing to the grounds for a lazy Sunday afternoon instead.
The sun was bright and the air was warm and Newt felt like he could finally breathe.
They sat together on the hill and stared out on the lake and the forest for several long minutes, and Newt was vaguely aware of the globule of water Leta levitated beside them: she didn’t particularly like charms, so she’d of course made it her personal prerogative to practice them as much as she could.
He’d just picked a blade of grass and begun to wonder how deep in the forest he’d have to go before the centaurs would actually turn him around (he’d only ever felt them watching him before), when Leta suddenly spoke up:
“I can’t go home. In June. I don’t want to talk about it, but…”
She let the water fall like a tiny burst of rain before them, and Newt twirled the piece of grass between his fingers and waited for her to go on. When she didn’t, he swallowed hard and leaned slightly forward, elbows on his knees.
“Your dad?”
She sent him a cutting glance— “I said I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Right.” He went back to spinning the grass, watched her trace the hem of her deep blue dress with slender fingers as he thought. And then: “So what about — what about cousins, Leta? Could you stay with someone else for a while? Like a - like a ruse.”
“Honestly, Newt — you think I want to stay with my cousins instead of my father? Have you met Perseus Black? Or our headmaster? That family gives me nightmares.”
“Ah yes, yeah, I suppose they would…”
“And everyone else is in France, and they hate me as much as my father does.”
“I’m sure he doesn’t actually—”
“Newt,” she cut him off, and he looked up immediately at the tone of her voice, the look on her face half-exasperated and half-pitying. “He does. You wouldn’t understand. You’re not — Well - And your family sounds…”
“Different,” Newt finished quietly. He plucked another piece of grass and began to tie it in knots.
“You’re lucky.”
“I know.”
The clouds moved to cover the sun and Leta threw herself back onto the grass with a huff. After a minute, Newt laid beside her, too, extending his wand to practice a shading charm he’d learned the week before. It took just as the sun peeked back out from behind the clouds.
“I wish you were pureblood,” she said suddenly, and Newt heard the rustle of the grass as she turned to look at him, so he turned to look at her, too.
“Sorry ‘bout that, then,” he murmured, and she gave a quiet laugh.
He blinked hard in response, watched the wind pick up one of her curls: watched the shadow of a bird flitter across them both, darker even than his shade charm.
“Your mum is, though, right?”
“Oh, um — no, actually.” He went back to watching the sky. “My grandmother—my mum’s mum—is a Prewett, though. And then her father’s father was — Wait, this is confusing...” He squinted at a heavy spring cloud on the edges of his vision. “Um, my mum’s grandfather was a Longbottom, I think, whose dad had married an - an exiled Rookwood.”
Leta hummed thoughtfully. Newt picked up his wand again to cut and then summon a bunch of bluebells growing closer to the lake. He sat up and began weaving them together (painstakingly slow, careful not to bruise the blooms).
They were quiet for another minute, the only sound about them the twittering of spring birds, the distant hooting and hollering of a group of sixth-years playing a rather daring game of quidditch over the forest’s edge.
“Do you think, Newt,” she said, “that your mum would write my dad?” (Her voice forcibly even.) “To ask if I could go with your family on holiday?”
Newt’s fingers fumbled, and he took a quick breath. When he looked up, she was assessing him coolly, but he knew that look well by now, so he only lobbed rejected bits of flower at her until she smiled.
“We don’t ‘go on holiday’,” he finally murmured, eyes back on his project.
“Well, she can lie then. You’re always so literal.”
He shrugged.
“I just think if your mum wrote, and she used her mum’s address, or Prewett letterhead, he might —”
“Yeah, of course.” He braided a few more flowers into what had unintentionally worked itself into a crown. “We can try. I’ll send her an owl, tonight.”
She sat up abruptly and scooted a half-inch closer to him, eyes cast out purposefully on the rich darkness of the lake, the sunlight beating down on it, silvering it brilliant beyond the confines of their shading charm.
Newt finished the crown of bluebells and held it in his hands. Someone whooped, and the sound of a bludger hitting a bat echoed across the water.
Leta spoke suddenly: “I don’t mind that you’re halfblood, you know.”
“Well - yes, I - I know that, Leta,” he stammered, turning the crown in his hands.
“Or that you don’t go on holiday.”
“Okay.”
She plowed on insistently, and Newt felt her fingers tug gently at the sleeve of his loose linen shirt until he looked up, let her catch his eyes for half a moment—
“I’d be perfectly satisfied following your mum around all summer at the hippogriff barn, even if it meant having to — I don’t know — learn hippogriff insemination practices or something.”
Newt balked for a moment, blinked, and then snorted with laughter. “We don’t — Our hippogriffs are — Leta , they don’t have that problem.”
She smiled softly just as he glanced up. “Well, then, we could just have the summer to ourselves.”
He hmmed.
“Here.”
And handed her the crown of bluebells. She rolled her eyes before reluctantly putting it on. Newt thought she looked like a Muggle drawing of a fairy. He looked away.
“So there’s this fellow,” he said, “a few villages over from us, who I’ve been writing with since winter break— He deals in - well —” he trailed off. “I’ve had to be careful because I don’t want to do anything that - that supports hurting creatures, and also because of Dad and Theseus’ work but — ”
She was looking at him with interest and he smiled.
“I’m only saying that — I think we’d have plenty of things to do, if your dad lets you come. I’ve already scheduled to pick up an Ashwinder egg, the week I’m back from term. And I’ve, er… negotiated access to a few maps, so we could do some exploring ourselves.”
“I’d like that, Newt.”
“I’d like that, too,” he heard himself reply.
Leta rustled about in her bag and pulled out a stack of cards. She cast a silencing charm on them before dealing them out, and they played Exploding Snap until the bell rang for dinner.
(She didn’t take off her crown as they crossed the threshold into the Entrance Hall, and Newt pretended not to notice.)
On paper, Leta Lestrange spent the summer between her Fourth and Fifth Year at the ‘Prewett family estate in Scarborough,’ while she and Newt, instead, rambled through forests; talked their way into (and out) of trouble; and fell asleep in the evenings—more often than not—waiting for the stars to dot the heavens, sprawled on the roof of Rowan Scamander’s hippogriff barn in the humble countryside.
It was a summer of magic and awakening and brightness that Leta would treasure until the day she died (cold and dark in her family’s tomb, watching Newt wrestle his brother away from her as her world went up in blue), even in those years she and Newt fell apart.
And it was a summer Newt would very briefly try to forget (desperately), but then hold onto—(chase, grasp after, treasure)—for the rest of his life.
Eventually, he’d braid crowns of bluebells for his children, tuck his own unruly curls behind their ears, tell them a story of a girl who was alone and was hurting in a world not built to love her, but how she was, nevertheless, taken from it far too soon.
His wife would look on with tears in her eyes (her own childhood heart haunted by a different kind of loss) — and their children would know their family was different;
but they would know they were lucky and — (by god, by Merlin: above all else) —
they would know that they were loved.

Alex Mason HC's
Photo taken by me
Tumblr media
The youngest of the family, and the black sheep of his family
He always knew he was different, and through out his teenage he accepted that
Over the years as he grew older, the relationship between him and his patents drifted apart; Especially when he joined the military
Although he was glad that his sister Marion had still accepted him, and from time to time he babysat her kids
Mason always struggled with his sexaulity loving both men and women (Non-Binary) He eventually came to terms thst he was bisexual
Only Woods has been aware of his sexuality, and didn't think about telling anyone else
After his escape at Vorkuta, Mason still has the familair nightmares of Reznov and the numbers that tormented his mind
To this day he still feels guilty for all the fucked up things he's done under the influence of the MK-ULTRA
He thanked Jason Hudson, the one who made him relive the memories, and got him the redemption Mason deserved
Even to this day he regularly goes to therapy, and psychological testing to keep his mind at bay
A way he copes is writing his feelings down on a journal, even if it's the same old feelings... Dreams, he gets it off his chest
Music had always been a good option for him too, a way to keep his mind calm and in general it always worker on him
After his father said he should've died in Vorkuta, he too feels the same way sometimes, through out his sessions he realised how sensitive he was deep down
He loves cold weather, growing up in Alsaka he easily succumbed to the cold weather. And doesn't like the hot weather either, summer is the worst time of year for him
He loves going to burger town with Woods and Lazar, one of their main places they hang out together
Woods has been his closest mate since say one, and tells him almost anything that's on his mind even if it's the same old brainwashing
Upon meeting Bell for the first time, there was a familair clarity about them... He knew that Bell got brainwashed by Adler
Which explained why Alex was always so calm around Bell, almost soft spoken and gentle
Despite whatever Bell did in their past, and whatever connections they had to Perseus; He felt sorry that Bell got brainwashed by Adler
With Alex being chosen to break Adler's brainwashing, he knew that it was some sort of karma for him. But that was thing he kept to himself.
After his dissaprance/death , or his last moments of his life ... He realised how much of a bad father he was towards David
(If Mason survived being shot by Woods) He forgives his old friend saying it wasn't his fault, and would never hate him for it

unashamed adoration tag game
I got tagged by @asomeoneperson thank you!
I have zero idea who to tag or who I follow here and I don't know whether any of you would do it (no pressure though), but guess what, I'm tagging: @justonemorechapternicercy @butterfliesandstormclouds @ashilrak @sappho-of-space @stucksolangelo @neptuvia
rules :: pick line(s) from your wip(s) out of context that you love.
Sunflower
"It's the apocalypse" A voice light as a feather responded to his rhetorical question. "The end of our world."
Percy furrowed his brows at that. It didn't make any sense. "But… it doesn't feel like that."
"It will. Later. This is just the beginning." The voice was so soft and calm, yet it pierced him like icy daggers. Coldness spread from his heart to his limbs and head, until he started shivering.
The Days Of Our Love
I should be thankful I could experience it even for a short while, even if we had problems and arguments, I'd always cherish those days, I'd always think high of him, I'd always want the best for him. He deserves it. I don't.
ouroboros
Time danced on him like he was a mere mortal.
His mind blurred like his vision, and he felt all force sucked out of his godly soul. Memories seemed to disappear so quickly he didn’t even realize. He grabbed onto one thought as if his life depended on it, while Aion stepped on him, crashing his bones.
Pose
Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon, highly respected and adored Saviour of Olympus wore the collar. He stood a few steps behind his father. He was practically glowing in the direct sunlight and if his father had everyone turning heads, they were breaking it for him.
All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus
There’s no better sound than a motorcycle’s engine revving up. Yet right now, Ares had to listen to the stupid little birds and the oh-so-peaceful sounds of nature, while they were supposed to be on a road trip.
Sally's Summer
She had enough misery for a whole lifetime, yet she was only 20 years old.
Wannabe huntress
She could only shake her head in response as blood filled her cheeks. She swore it was just because of fury for having to answer this stupid interrogation.
And an honorary mention:
Of Wine And War Re-Continued
oh no, oh no, oh no

This is for the ask game you reblogged! 001 for Call of Duty CW :D
Sorry this took so long, but thanks for the ask! :D Game here for ref if anyone else wants to send!!!: [link]. I'll put most under a read more for user courtesy~ I'll use both campaign and non-campaign for this to make it easier for some questions since there wouldn't be enough characters otherwise. •Favorite character: Helen Park! Zombies/multiplayer being considered is tougher. I think Dr. Grey would be at the top spot, and then (in no particular order) Helen Park, Samantha Maxis and Kaori "Kitsune" Tanaka would follow closely after. Yirina Portnova is here, too, but going just on canon content I'd have to put her last. She has, like, a thimble of canon content ;v; Although Kaori is technically in a similar position as Yirina, Kaori's background file is more expansive, she was featured in some multiplayer related story cutscenes and she was given a *ton* of personality in multiplayer and zombies!
•Least favorite: Hmmm... Adler? If I'm only picking from characters I actually have a particular opinion on, anyway. Otherwise we'd get a whole list going!!! Now, don't get me wrong, he's really well done and I actually appreciate him as a character. But I hate him soooooo much! XD 10/10 would punch in the face.
•Five ships (canon or non-canon): In no particular order... 1) Dr. Grey x Samantha Maxis (c) 2) Helen Park x Yirina Portnova (n-c) 3) Freya "Wraith" Helvig x Kaori "Kitsune" Tanaka (n-c) 4) Helen Park x Bell (n-c) 5) Yirina Portnova x Bell (n-c)???
•Character I find most attractive: Ohmygoooood you can't do this to meee ;O; You can't make me choose!!! I mean, if I was gonna make it easier on myself and it was just the main campaign cast, then for sure Helen Park. Out of everyone? I literally can't choose. But Kaori Tanaka is UP THERE.
•Character I would marry: Dr. Grey, hands down. I meeeean, I love everyone else, too. But uh... thinking realistically? I think I'd jive with her better. She's just so genuinely sweet and kind (etc) and I feel like she would be the best match for me out of everyone else. As much as I love the others.
•Character I would be best friends with: Dr. Grey for sure. I'd love to be besties with Sam, too...
•Random thought: I am *very* sad that Jada Powers, a playable operator for multiplayer and zombies, doesn't have more attention. She has one of the most intriguing background stories out of the "starter" operators for either side. I *desperately* want to know what the truth is. Is she an implant to spy on the USSR for the CIA? Or was she actually a spy at the CIA for the USSR that got discovered and fled???
•Unpopular opinion: I don't understand the thirst of either Adler OR Perseus within the fandom. Or other characters like Volkov.
•My canon OTP: Greysam (Dr. Elizabeth Grey x Samantha Maxis)
•My non-canon OTP: Helen Park x Yirina Portnova
•Most badass character: Samantha Maxis, hands down. She has a major advantage though, being a kickass lesbian with psychic powers. Runner up would maybe be either Helen or Kaori? Freya is pretty cool too though...
•Most epic villain: The most clear-cut, villain from CW would have to be the Director, from the zombies storyline! So he'll be my answer for this question. However, the narrative for the campaign is so well done– I don't even know where to start. But there's no "one villain".
•Pairing I'm not a fan of: Adler x Bell. I'll spare you the rant, though!
•Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Honestly? I can't think of anyone. However, not that they screwed up, but I'm really sad that Sam got the ending she did in zombies. If anyone deserves a happy ending... Sam is. (Dr. Grey too of course.)
•Favourite friendship: This is a tough one... Does Sam and Notso (her dog) count? XD I have a soft spot for Notso and haven't had a chance to mention her yet.
•Character I most identify with: Hmm.. another tough one... honestly I'm not sure??? I find that I don't often *identify* with characters. So instead, in terms of just relating to a character, I suppose I'd relate the most to Dr. Grey? It's a lot to get into, This is pretty personal, but I often feel like I'm an "outsider", like Dr. Grey, for a variety of reasons. Always have.
Samantha Maxis feels pretty gender though too, ngl. At least in her Dark Aether outfit.
•Character I wish I could be: Oh man, from Cold War? Honestly? NONE OF THEM. Listen I love them so much but ohmygod I do not envy any of them!!! XD

So Trump does it every day my husband gets up and hasn't killed and Trump dies everyday so that's what he's doing that's a reward for what he's doing and he's not getting anywhere and he's lost most of his businesses and he's going to lose all his money today he's lost three quarters of his money but he had like 60% of the world's money doing the same thing that started bringing him down and was saying it because it's so stupid that we don't need to repeat it which is not necessarily true but really by saying things none of you listen and by killing you you're not listening so we know how to handle it
Hera
Zues
Olympus
But here that the roof is going to go ahead finally and we're excited about it a little bit but it's been a long long wait and other things are breaking and he's fixing them and it's costing him money Stan is under extreme duress and they're at war and the guys living in his house we understand it's a disgusting situation and he's trying to fix it with forest and it's just not working nothing else was working and you have to and it's getting a little better but we have to make sure that other things get fixed the sewer is deplorable and it is disgusting and it needs to be repaired we don't want to hear about it anymore we want it fixed the same what he says if it goes up I might as well get on the list and I might as well start looking and that's exactly what he does and we'll help him follow through with it he wants to fix without an increase in rent because he put up with it so long
Thor Freya
They're very mean next door and they're mean here and he has to say it doesn't want to do it but really they are pieces of s*** these people and he'll do that too he says and I believe it and other people want them there in this moron will probably try and get him there he's a pain in the ass real stupid jerk you're like a third wheel third world nation person Trump you're a piece of garbage we're going after you too soon you're going to regret saying what you did after I said I'm going to call for the roof you have no right to sit there in the apartment that you got kicked out of either and I'm going to go to court I'm going to get you arrested again and the Mac goes after you is tearing your clan to shreds to get to you thankfully
Stan
Olympus
You see what this is all about Stan hates me and it's because he's pseudo empire and our friend here says I started this war and it wasn't necessary and started to war with his people and we're not going to make it those things are true but there are enemies and they deserve to see it even if we're helping them immensely now I didn't say that last part but that's what we're doing it's because of me and it says it is true but in the long run it won't be a help and I've been sitting here believing it and he says we won't be here because we're the ones doing it just like the max wanted they sacrifice Percy AKA Perseus I have to be fly too high and it's actually happening and he doesn't care because she's taking over and I've seen it before and all that stuff he says you can't find us you can't capture us you get killed all the time and I understand something they're actually very angry and I keep pissing them off
Trump
He goes from talking to stand to us because Stan does stuff to him he says when we are doing stuff to you your whole group is falling you're a s*** head the max are doing it too
Hera
I told her to shut up and she's not of course she does not have to cuz I don't have the power to stop her or anybody for that matter it's not true so I'm sitting here being a nuisance still and this they're riding up orders on me I can hear it on the radio I don't believe this but he's getting rid of us because of what I'm doing

Perseus really doesn’t deserve all the hyukking “lol lets have Medusa kill him” I see around, just because no one sees further than Ovid’s version of Medusa (you can go with the older myth, or hell, even the one where she commits hubris).
Like, he’s a late teens/early twenties young man who gets manipulated/tricked into a suicide mission by his foster father’s brother, because said man wants to marry Perseus’ mother (and she doesn’t want to marry him) and he can’t do that with a child fathered by a god around. So off the boy goes, HOPE HE DIES so he can’t protect his mom!
So if you have Perseus killed by Medusa, now you’ve gotten a young man who was only trying to protect his mother dead, his mother married to a man she doesn’t want to be married to, and another woman (Andromeda) dead by sea monster because Perseus wasn’t there to rescue her.
He’s just a slightly geographically-challenged young man doing his best, don’t take out your “boo men” on him just because (general) you thinks Medusa deserves better.
Choose another version of Medusa’s myth or come up with something else, maybe.
