Reflection of the day 9/05/22 - 12/05/22: Project Panel Live

This Monday started the Live Panel project, where we have to build a small panel on a wall in an artistic environment called Laje. We began to decide at first what the theme of our collective panel would be. So we wrote a lot of ideas in our sketchbooks, on different topics, and I really wanted to do something scary, because I would love to make bizarre creatures and scary things as a panel theme.

But the idea that everyone ended up agreeing would be the best option was to make a theme relating to dreams, mixed with urban elements. It wasn't exactly my favorite topic, but I had to agree to work on this topic.

So to put our imaginations into action, we got together and started to draw on A2 sheets, several completely imaginative drawings, about this mixture of dream and urbanism. I started to make a very quick drawing of a road that went in all directions and around the road were floating buildings.

It wasn't exactly a perfect drawing, but it did create something interesting that I could use in later drawings.

In the afternoon, we continued to do more drawings, only this time all together, drawing on a large sheet. We were all drawing totally bizarre elements, and I even had a little difficulty letting go at first, but then I got used to it, and having fun doing these collective drawings.

Until the end of the day, we had a panel filled with drawings made with black markers, where he was glued to a wall in the corner of the room. It was very interesting all our drawings together, and tomorrow I will try to create compositions in my projectbook, with all our drawings.

On Tuesday I drew several poster ideas that could be made for Laje. I tried to mix several elements that were very strong in our second-class collective work, and make an interesting composition.

Today was basically a day of experimentation, trying to see how these posters would look.

Each of the drawings that I made seemed to have something interesting, mainly because the whole class created very interesting figures to make a poster and this ideas could be explored in many ways.

Not much else happened, because I was very focused on making an interesting composition. Tomorrow I will draw ideas for dream cities for my laje poster.

On Thursday the group and I stayed in the print room, because the room was being painted and the smell of paint was strong.

Basically today was a continuation of what was on Monday, which means that we continue creating compositions from our dream city.

In this case, we made several drawings, and then we cut them out and put them together on a large A2 sheet. And I really like this mix of styles, because each of the colleagues has a different approach both in style and in theme.

But we are still deciding what the title of the project would be, and what technique we would use,  wheat paste paper or we will paint on the wall.

Unlike my Project 365 this one has had a bit of a setback. I am still reading “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”, I am roughly half way through. The reason I have not finished it? I forgot to factor in my monthly eye treatments which makes reading impossible for 2 or 3 days afterwards depending on how it goes. I am motivated by graphs. If you are motivated by graphs just lean in to it, accept who you are as a person, and use graphs. That's what I say. This is a progress chart for my current visual poetry project. There are 25 poems in the book and I've been working on them simultaneously during the year. Doing NaNoWriMo right now reminded me how much a progress chart makes a big project feel manageable. You can celebrate and tick-off smaller tasks that can be achieved in one day. Siapa yang ingin selalu tergantung kepada perasaan yang belum sempurna habis? Tidak ada. Perempuan itu juga. Ia tengah berjuang keras menghilangkan pekanya, menghabiskan egonya, tapi bukan hal yang mudah, apalagi di kerdilkan

Ia butuh pelampiasan, ia suka menulis tapi aksaranya sedang tidak mood, berlari-larian seenaknya tak peduli sang empunya susah payah untuk mengkoordinir. Aksara hanya ingin bebas, lepas, tak lagi terikat

Ia suka bercerita kepada temannya, tapi temannya sudah bosan dengab topik yang itu-itu saja. Tak pernah berubah. Tak ada perkembangan. Lalu memilih untuk mengacuhkan.

Perempuan itu terdiam, di pojok ruangan.

Melihat sekeliling.

Lalu terdiam. Tidak tau bagaimana melanjutkan.
