To be a purple clematis

Growing and blooming and climbing high, like a purple clematis

May I put a healthier mindfulness into practice

Even with this broken stem, with determination I’ll move henceforth

No longer merely idle in the soil for warmth

And with the way the colors red and blue mix to purple in balance

Let me meld rationality with emotionally, even with the past as weighful valance

The ties that push me on, they comprise my roots

As gentle rain of the kindness I’ve known will give me more flowers to produce

Oh resilience and mental strength, come to me and expand my wisdom as the clematis is prone to grow

Let all my efforts burst forth floor seeds one may sow

Surely, then, I’ll rise and rise with these scars

And finally reach the stars

Mabel is so incredibly shy that she scarcely ever leaves the house. With all the lovely flowers in bloom and with the sun shining brightly today, I encouraged her to venture outdoors. At first, she kept her leaves covering her face, as she usually does when she’s nervous, but once she saw the beautiful blurple-colored clematis and mini iris flowers, she literally opened right up! I’m going to have to nudge her to go out more often, because she’s much happier when she’s not hiding all the time. =)

Flowering

Slowly like a purple clematis, with a newfound mind I’ll bloom

Rising out to the stars, with clarity, from all this inner gloom

Climb, I will, with the strength of a blue Alium, I’ll heal

This grief, may it be consumed, fueling perseverance to overcome difficulty akin to steel

Oh with the courage of a white gladiolus, may my spirit grow

May it forge endurance that I can sow

Yet still, with the capacity of a cistus, through any sort of circumstance I yearn to rise

Let this imbue determination to avoid any demise

Ah, with the dedication of an green carnations, shall I meet my goal?

Could fortune and virtue bathe my soul?

And at last with elegance, sensibility, respectability, like a Mimosa, letting joy and life radiate from me like the sun

Usually by now, the deep purple clematis is starting to wind down. The flower petals shrivel and become crispy, eventually falling off. But this year, instead of the flowers dying off after the first round, the plant seems to have exploded with even more flowers! It was bright and hot out today, and the sunlight made these gorgeous purple flowers glow... and Neirin too! When I told him that the clematis had blossomed with an impressive round two of flowers, he of course had to go out and have me take some more pictures of him. I think this is Neirin’s best angle... glowing in the bright sunlight. =)
