You know it's always funny to me how much people hated the Qrow is Ruby's Dad theory even if Monty debunked it, even if it was better canon than what we have and still makes more sense.
But given how RT and MKEK has been handling RWBY lately, fuck their canon, they shat all over it the second they started pushing for Bumblebullshit lmao. Black Sun was always planned, not the pandered to garbage.

The road unexpectedly stretches further than the two once thought possible, the world continues to be unkind and treacherous, shadows lurking at every corner. The masked stranger and the young man, in the face of stress and adversity, cannot help but to allow suspicion and doubt to linger in their minds. But, for now, their only choice is to continue onwards.

While I personally don't adhere to the theory, "Never Love an Anchor" by The Crane Wives is a big 'Qrow is Ruby's dad' song.

Having seen some discussion and gotten a few direct asks on the topic recently, I thought I’d do a dedicated post on an aspect of the Rosebird Parents Theory that I’ve touched on in other posts but have yet to address directly.
If Raven is secretly Ruby’s birth-‘father’/other mother, why have Qrow and Tai keep that a secret from her and Yang all this time? More specifically, if they apparently told Yang that Raven is HER birth-mother after Summer vanished, why did they not do the same for Ruby?
Now to get the simplest explanation out of the way first, it’s possible that Tai and Qrow simply don’t know themselves that Raven is Ruby’s birth-father. Of course I will freely admit that this is a rather dubious proposition and has to assume Tai and Qrow being rather slow on the uptake, and becomes especially dubious if Summer and Tai were actually in a close but ultimately platonic relationship. Though rather amusingly, this possibility gets a bit more plausible with the Poly-STR or even Poly-STRQ relationship that some have proposed. Specifically, if Summer already had a history of sleeping with Qrow, Tai AND Raven, it could leave her the option of being more vague and ambiguous as to WHO actually got her pregnant. Though again, I kinda doubt go this route.
Now with that out of the way, let’s discuss what I feel is the more likely option: That Qrow and Tai (and probably Raven as well) KNOW that Raven is Ruby’s birth-father and have been keeping that information under wraps this whole time.
First off; if Tai and/or Qrow told Yang that Raven is her birth-mother after Summer disappeared, why would they not also tell Ruby that Raven is her birth-father too?
Well, what if Tai didn’t MEAN to tell Yang about Raven, but rather let that information slip in the midst of his grieving? Note that Yang doesn’t specify that Tai (or Qrow) told her about Raven, only that she ‘found out’. If Yang only found out about Raven being her birth-mother because Tai let that info slip by accident or Yang found it out herself through some other means, then Tai and Qrow would have no reason to let Ruby know about Raven being her birth-father as well.
As to why Qrow and Tai would continue to keep Raven being Ruby’s father a secret? Well, because it’s pretty clear, certainly in the early parts of the show, that Qrow and Tai do NOT trust Raven, and generally consider her to be potentially dangerous to Yang and Ruby. Remember how in Volume 3 we learn that despite Yang having been looking for any information she can on Raven for years at the point, it turns out that Qrow has been in occasional contact with his sister this whole time and even has a pretty good idea where she is. And NEVER told Yang until she pressed him on the issue by revealing that Raven had stepped in to save her during the train breach.
It’s clear that Qrow and Tai have deliberately worked to keep Yang (and by extension, Ruby) away from Raven, at least while the girl were growing up. In that context, I’d say it makes PERFECT sense that they would keep Raven being Ruby’s birth-father under wraps too.
As to why they haven’t revealed this to Ruby in the present of the show? Well probably because it’s not exactly an EASY thing to reveal. I mean, what are you expecting? Tai to just sit down with Ruby sometime during the weeks she was recovering after the Fall and go ‘Oh, by the way, Yang’s mom is also your dad. Me and Qrow have been lying to you and Yang this whole time. Sorry about that.’
As for Qrow post-Volume 6 even when Ruby sits down with him and directly asks if he knows anything about what happened to Summer, I have to imagine Qrow’s decision to keep Ruby’s true parentage a secret would have been something along the lines of ‘this girl has got enough on her plate right now as it is. She doesn’t need THIS hot mess dropped in her lap too.’
And if you’re reading all this and thinking; “Wow, this isn’t very good parenting choices from Tai and Qrow,” well yeah, NO SHIT it isn’t. Need I remind you that one of RWBY’s main recurring themes is that of parents/mentors/leaders not trusting their kids with important/pertinent information being shown to be a BAD THING.
In that context, Qrow and Tai having kept the fact of Raven being Ruby’s birth-father under wraps this whole time fits PERFECTLY into the show’s themes and messages.

Tai snaps!
It occurs to me that we don’t really know what Taiyang can do in combat besides the fact that A, he made it through Beacon with some strong fighters, and B, he’s competent sparring with Yang.
That said, here’s one possibility:
Tyrian: Hello, little ones! I see you brought two adults this time!
Taiyang: Who’s this guy?
Yang: Oh, crap! Dad, stay behind us!
Ruby: That’s Tyrian! He works for Salem! He’s really dangerous!
Qrow: He attacked us a while back and stabbed me!
Tyrian: *giggles* Don’t forget when I killed your boyfriend in Atlas!
Qrow: 😰
Taiyang: Listen buddy, I don’t know you, but NOBODY hurts my family! 😠
Tyrian: Oh, but I know you, Taiyang Xiao-Long! I know that your first wife left you!
Taiyang: 😨
Tyrian: …and your second wife snuck off and got killed on a secret mission she didn’t even tell you about! 😈
Taiyang: 😰
Tyrian: Even better! A lot of people seem to think you were cucked by your friend here! And your first wife!
Taiyang: …
Ruby: Dad…?
Taiyang: …that’s…
Taiyang: …IT…! 😠
Qrow: …oh shit…
Taiyang: *unzips his zip-off pant legs* 😡
Qrow: Oh, shit!
Taiyang: *reaches into his Fanny pack*
Tyrian: 🤨
Taiyang: *pulls out the most fearsome set of brass knuckles ever forged*
Qrow: *taking cover with the kids* OH, SHIT!!!
———————————————————————
I kinda headcanon that Tai wasn’t some kind of weak link on team STRQ, but instead he was a little less skilled than his teammates but hit like a runaway freight train.

Testing water here. 🌊
Let say for the sake of argument. That a certain someone is about to release fanfic & in that fanfic Tai is not really Ruby's father.
But Qrow is...
What would be your opinion on that?

im just gonna go ahead and point it out bc ive not seen anyone else mention it, Summer's weapon in the axe form looks a lot like Maria's weapon and in vol6 Qrow says they based his weapons off of hers- if the finale DOES have a strq backstory scene, hopefully we'll get to see The Grimm Reapers influence on them both

Qrow can't be Ruby's dad without breaking Yang's character.
There's apparently an element of the FNDM that really wants Qrow to be Ruby's dad instead of Taiyang. Even if Monty Oum came back from the grave to say no, Too many people ignored Monty while he was alive the same way that the Republican Party ignores the words of Jesus regarding feeding the poor and healing the sick.
First, to clear up some confusion:
The canon clearly establishes that Taiyang is the father of both Yang (via Raven) and Ruby (via Summer). Qrow's presence in Yang and Ruby's childhood is as an occasional surrogate parent for both of them, and as a role model specifically for Ruby, as he taught her his fighting style and she modeled her weapon after his.
Fatherhood in terms of paternity (who contributed the biological material needed for this person to be born) is a matter of blood and it can't really be changed. Ultimately, the canon is pretty clear that Taiyang is the person who slept with Summer Rose to create Ruby Rose.
Fatherhood in terms of parenting (the specific act of being an active parent with an active relationship with the kid in question) isn't something that's a matter of blood. We have every reason to believe that Taiyang was a father to Ruby, particularly because she refers to him as "Dad" and appears to have a good relationship with him.
That said, there isn't really a scene that spends time broadening that relationship to the same extent that Yang has scenes with Tai during V4.
Meanwhile, Ruby has MANY scenes with Qrow throughout V3 and after that indicate a lot about their relationship as niece and uncle.
All of the canon paints a pretty clear picture Tai and Qrow BOTH played a major role in Ruby's upbringing, especially in the absence of Summer as Ruby's mother and the absence of any OTHER mother-figure for Ruby, since Yang took over that job.
Ultimately, the big problem with any attempt at forcing Qrow to be Ruby's dad is that it clashes with another key relationship that already follows the same pattern of "who your parent is doesn't rely on their blood relationship to you": namely, Yang identifying Summer Rose as her mother even when Raven is the one who gave birth to her.
It's possible for Qrow to be an influential parent figure for Ruby without him being her literal parent, just as Summer was an influential parent for Yang without HER being her literal parent. To demand that Qrow be Ruby's literal father in order to justify his influence on her is to demand that Yang NOT consider Summer her mother, which... completely undoes Yang's character. It doesn't work.
So the TL;DR is that demanding Qrow be Ruby's paternal contributor IN ADDITION to a surrogate parent breaks Yang's entire story, aside from doing nothing to improve Ruby's story.
Simply put: The theory is BAD WRITING; Which is why CRWBY chose NOT to go with it.

The Ravens’ Odin
So one thing I’m particularly happy with that happened during this latest round of ‘theory-crafting about Norse Mythology allusions in RWBY’ is finally realizing a plausible solution to one of bigger conundrums surrounding Ruby being an allusion to Odin.
That being: If Ruby is meant to be an allusion to Odin, then why were Qrow and Raven, who are allusions to Odin’s ravens Huginn and Muninn, effectively ‘created’ (ie; given their powers) by Ozpin? After all, that’s one of the biggest reasons people have considered Oz and allusion to Odin over the years.
But here’s the interesting bit, using RWBY’s trend of twisting or flipping the script on it’s allusions and references: As I discussed in this recent post; I think Ozma/Oz as a whole is actually an allusion to Baldr, with the destruction of old humanity by the gods being Remnant’s equivalent to Ragnarok, and that Ruby and Oz represent a role reversal of Odin and Baldr.
With all that in mind, I think the whole story of Remnant starts feeling like the Norse myth-cycle effectively playing out in reverse. With Ragnarok being the BEGINNING of Remnant’s story instead of the end, and Baldr (Oz) being among the ELDEST of the Aesir while Odin (Ruby) is among the youngest.
So if the lore of RWBY represents a bunch of the beats of Norse mythology playing out backwards, I’d say it only makes sense that in this version of events, it is not Odin who creates/molds Huginn and Muninn, but rather Huginn and Muninn who mold/create ODIN.
Tumblr media
And wouldn’t you know it; Qrow is a longtime mentor and father-figure to Ruby.
Tumblr media
And as for Raven... well, let’s just say I may have a theory or two on how she ‘created’ Ruby XD
