no but really the focus on pronouns Determining Actual Gender And Having Unique Social Roles in lgbt spaces is absolutely bizarre and beyond any form of basic material analysis of gender it exists in the real world. like speaking from experience you can literally be a stone butch lesbian who goes out of ur way to exclusively dress in traditionally masculine clothes, who uses a masculine name, who intentionally and explicitly plays a complex and deeply nonconforming gender role as both social performance art and for personal fulfilment, and then get lumped in by other lgbt people in the category of "she/her type" (and, more broadly, if you use she/her and are afab, you inevitably get labeled as 'cis' regardless of your actual gender performance as interpreted by the world writ large) just because you dont care enough about pronouns to determine and enforce the use of any others for yourself

You seem like a pretty good dude, Wil. Thanks for taking time to chat with your fans, and thanks for standing up for what is right. I love following you on social media. You've talked about D&D before, and I've been kind of curious about trying it out. I would be nervous though as I have no idea what to do. Any tips for 40-year-old beginners???
Thank you for your kind comments.
D&D! I love it. I love all RPG games (even the ones I don't like to play. I'm just glad they exist).
I've been playing since the early 80s, and I can confidently direct you to the 5e Starter Set. It is the best introduction to the hobby, to the system, to the experience of collaborative storytelling that makes RPGs so much fun and so special. It's a small investment, and a really easy way to find out if D&D is for you.
If you want to make an even smaller investment, this page has TONS of information and resources. You could start here and spend hours without noticing the time pass. Or, at least, I can. YMMV.
I want to share a few warnings with you.
Everyone has their definition of the "right" way to play D&D. You will find yours as you play. Don't let someone else's definition of "right" limit what yours may eventually be. We've worked real hard to kick out the gatekeepers, but they just keep spawning.
The D&D rules system is not the only RPG, or even the only popular one. Pathfinder is beloved by millions of people. FATE Core and GURPS have enormous player bases. Monte Cook's Cypher System is filled with gorgeous lore and character inspirations (but I've never played it, full disclosure). I chose the AGE system for our series Titansgrave, and used a lot of what I learned from running D&D for decades to customize the experience for me and the players. What I'm saying is, RPGs do not begin and end with D&D. It's as good a place as any to start, but it is only one of many systems.
You are going to hear hardcores make impassioned arguments that continue long after you have lost interest about all sort of rules and setting and system crap. Trust me: tune them out. Eventually, you'll know what you care to listen to.
All those non-D&D systems support and encourage playing in different settings, from Science Fiction to Horror to modern warfare combat. The thing that I believe makes D&D VERY special is its singular focus on high fantasy and everything that means in our culture. All those other systems do fantasy very well, but D&D is kind of the canonical "storm the dungeon, kill the monsters, take their stuff" experience.
That's a lot more information than I intended to deliver. I just get excited about this stuff because I love it so much. Whatever you choose, I hope you have fun!
And when it counts, may you roll high.

This is an RP character I used while I was at university; I drew it back in 1998.
We had an active gaming group, and one of the DMs was developing his own D20 system and world. He let us play with any character we wanted, and between us, we worked up a playable character sheet for an ordinary Predator character. I can't remember if we went with a barbarian class or something else - I think we were referencing the Skills and Powers book rather than the standard player handbook.
This Predator didn't get magic. She was strictly sci-tech, and magic didn't make any sense to her limited worldview (neither did the idea of not killing all the interesting fauna we came across - she wanted trophies, dammit!). I played the "what is this magic nonsense?" as a blind spot, kept getting caught flat-footed (I was the first victim of the Fluffy Pink Bunnies), then killed, then resurrected, then laughed at by the Predator gods... The DM hammed it up. We even had some kind of super-intelligent elven cat that kept using Power Word Happy on the Predator. It was awesome.
...But not awesome for the poor, sanity-hanging-by-a-thread Predator. The other (much better-adjusted) characters nicknamed her "Runs With Scissors".
As I recall, we played long enough and hard enough that we achieved something similar to apotheosis. This Predator made a very grumpy demi-god.
I made this with Prismacolor markers and pencils over an ink drawing.

I’ve been playing a lot of small indie games and god I wish the rest of the game industry understood that the whole point of farming and grinding is so that in some point of the journey the player can go HAHAHA I PLANNED FOR THIS and pull off crazy crap earlier than they should be able to. Like Teenage Exocolonist letting me just walk past all the checks when I’m outside the colony and go to the boss immediately because I farmed the fuck out of my perception skill should technically be game ruining but it’s not. I planned for this so I could get the ascension ending easily while simultaneously putting the rest of my effort into figuring out as much about engineering as possible at the same time so I can pull off a full shield run. Having advantages in certain contexts should allow me to interact with it in a way that opens an entirely new path for me to take. Poisoning the campfire survivors at the very beginning of my Inscryption run lets me take a route where I focus on building up the cards I already have instead of hunting down new ones. Advantages are good!! Grinding so you’re high enough level to beat one boss only for the rest of the game to balance itself by making everything else many levels higher than you once again is unrewarding. If your player cannot face your game from multiple angles then maybe it’s not that worth exploring. If your player over relies on an ability they spent a long time working up and they’ve made the game too easy make it so that steers them into a new situation where they have to innovate on their strategy to get things going again. Just hand me a game like Inscryption where I farm the whole game with fecundity decks and then get to Kaycee’s Mod and realize I have to relearn the whole game from a completely new perspective now that I can’t rely on that anymore. If it’s just a matter of “the numbers are too high we have to turn all the other numbers up too” then do the numbers really mean anything anymore or are you just keeping me stuck in a role where I’m saying to myself “once I have the advantage I’ll be able to explore so many new things” but then never letting me have any advantage until near the end when the world has lost its charm because everything is just a damn numbers game.

sometimes, reading D&D lore, i am reminded that one of bioware's first big games was D&D IP, and many of those writers went directly on to work on dragon age

I need to let people know how good Candela Obscura chapter 3 is, the whole thing was immaculate, I especially love how character centered it was. Every case was so personal and challenged each person in a very unique way, and it made for the juiciest interactions. Kudos to @quiddie for the excellent GMing, and kudos to the cast, they were amazing and I was so invested in them from minute one. It was just so good yall. More people should watch it.

Hi Stick here borrowing Z's blog.
Because she's got a history of some horrible anons I'm going to be acting as a filter. If you send asks for any reason that ain't beneficial to her I'm probably blocking you on her behalf. Only Warning.
P.S. If you respond to this in bad faith the same applies.
P.P.S. Actually I'm turning off anon on her blog, she can turn it back on later.

Welcome to Plural Player Characters
This is a sideblog dedicated to building and playing plural characters in table top roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, FATE, Chronicles of Darkness, or really any ttrpg we find interesting!
If you've played a plural character in a ttrpg, we would be happy to share your stories. Tell us how you built your character, how you incorporated plurality into your stories, or just the kinds of shenanigans that your PluralPCs got up to. Feel free to send in asks about what kinds of mechanics and homebrew you use or are looking for, or for advice on how to play one.
Why play a plural character?
There's plenty of reasons someone might want to play a plural character. They might be part of a plural collective and like to see their identity showing up at the table. They might want to play with their headmates but don't want to run multiple PCs. They might be a questioning system looking to explore their identity. They might have a really cool concept for a character who's also plural. Or just simply because plurals exist. The same question can be asked of any identity.
Why does this blog exist?
We are a system who's been playing tabletop rpgs for nearly two decades. We've played a host of different game systems and read even more. We've also played a lot of plural characters (and built a ton more), whether we knew it at the time or not. And whenever plurality and TTRPGs come close, we have a lot of thoughts, ideas, and builds. So this is a place we want to share those things.

Send me niche TTRPGs, sci fi or horror preferably but I will not complain about getting too much of a good thing, I still like fantasy
There's no way in hell I could play them all but I want more systems to babble about on this blog, as well as just get some cool stuff to read
The minimum bar for what I'm looking for is like more than 10 pages (optional)

Last days of battles
Tumblr media
Pixel art for today based on videogame Front Mission for game console Super Nintendo. With Super Nintendo it was a sunrise of genre role playing games. And it was a first time to appear here a game series about a robots. Such a big war robots, something like it was in a Mechwarrior.
But it is isometrical tactics. With something like a storyline. I think it is a very interesting game. So, personally me, I played only in Front Mission 4 for PlayStation 2. And I like game a lot. But with some mission it was a very hard for me to play. Maybe, I do something wrong with progress of my robots.
And this is my drawing about the same theme. Swamp planetoid K-56-A-46. It is a calm place with lots of swamps. So, there are here a lots of swamps plants and flowers. So, lots of different kind of frogs are living here. So, it is mainly, excellent place for a country house. And a free time. For frogs here it is a real paradise. It is excellent climate for them. And for a lot of young naturalists, it will be very interesting to see lots of flowers.
But straight right now, it is going a last days of battles for this solar system. At least, it is for sure a last days of battles at this planetoid. Yes, it is not very valuable. But here, also a big war robots are walking. Two legs robots. Resistance of powers of Alt already weak and their robots are going backward to a big planet of the system – Mans-9. So, it will be there to continue a battles. And here it will be soon a full peace. And lots of pilots already dreaming about to live here and have here a country house. So, it will be here soon a scientists and builders. And there is no plans to built here a cities. It is a planetoid with a country houses.
And time by time, forces of Alt are retreated. And here are the last ones, who are left here to cover the go back for main forces. It should be, that it is a ticket one way for them. They are left here with one purpose – cover a process – main forces are leaving the planet. You simply need to find and destroy last enemy units, that are still here. It should not be a hard task. And with this your contract will end. If you wish you can to continue this, and be a pilot of a robot for a next missions. But, in this case, heavy battles on Mans-9 are waiting for you. Or left all this and built here a country house. It is a decision for you, it is up to you. And right now, finish all these. Set a point in this question.
