Giratina's Temple and the Celestica Ruins

aka Giratina/platinum clan theory is back (also sorry for using mspaint lmao)

So we all know about the Shrouded Ruins, yeah?

(This is the only spoiler warning for Pokemon Legends: Arceus you're gonna get)

Spooky. Ever-cloaked in mists and mystery, surrounded by black-stoned cairns like graves and home to the giant Odd Keystone that once (?) housed 108 souls. Very ghost-centric.

Well what if I told you it was a temple?

Greco-roman temples (and, problematic or otherwise the celestica are absolutely greco-roman coded) are constructed relatively uniformly, with an outer later of columns holding up the roof and an inner layer holding up an internal structure, providing additional support, ect.

We have a perfect in-game model to project from, too, in the Temple of Sinnoh (pre-explosion). You can see that some of the smaller columns are sometimes decorative - likely they held up torches or, in the case of the two nearest the 'altar,' offerings

So knowing that style and having the remaining structures we do see in-game, we can approximate a lay out of what the building may have looked like.

What makes this a temple, however, is more open to interpretation. My evidence to support that it is is actually the blue-tinged pedestals seen within the outline of the building - the place(s) of honor in any temple. Irl, the inner structure - the cella - was often fully-walled in, though sometimes this was constructed via wood and other materials that don't withstand time.

Now, ENORMOUS shout-out to pokemaniacchris and the incredible Crimson Mirelands Archeological Survey Project for a really detailed, in-character breakdown of the ruins structures throughout the mirelands. I can only assume the 'surveyors' hadn't reached Mt. Coronet yet in their explorations.

Pedestals like these (at least superficially similar) are found beneath dozens of statues around Mt. Coronet, including beneath Giratina, Palkia and Dialga in the Sacred Plaza area. Now, I know I'm supposed to be claiming that this is a temple to Giratina, but if we work on the assumption that the four pedestals corollate with Giratina, Palkia, Dialga, and Arceus, a new conclusion can, perhaps, be drawn:

That whoever built this temple saw all four of them on the same 'level' of power or -- and this is my hc taking over -- if the statues were placed in a certain orientation (see below) that they saw Arceus and Giratina on equal footing, with Dialga and Palkia one rank below.

And there is, imo, more evidence to support this disruption of the 'creation trio' into two pairs on equal footing, found in the Celestica Ruins! So, among the structures there are two notable, circular buildings that the Greeks also utilized, called tholoi (plural). Irl, tholoi were a mix of secular-use and small-scale temples, and seeing as these two are small (maybe 10ft across inside?) I would maintain the claim that they're small temples.

And they align/mirror each other just as the statues of Palkia and Dialga do.

This part becomes pure conjecture, but I like to think the smaller structures in the ruins might be other small-scale temples for the various mythicals, honoring each much as the Greeks honored a pantheon.

Lastly, the CMASP describes the "Gapejaw Bog Complex" as being potentially an entire agora all its own and I can't agree more. Such evidence would support the idea of there being two groups of Celestica (Note: Not the Clans.)

I actually found myself wondering if the mirelands weren't always quite so swampy, and instead flooded at some point in the past with the depressions around Gapejaw - left by housing foundations - filled in with swamp water.

At the end of the day, I think there's a lot of evidence that the Celestica revered Giratina as well as Arceus, Dialga and Palkia - at least early on. Something happened to cause this schism, and the Old Verses/Plate inscriptions point to an outburst of rage from Giratina -- though, in "pick a god (and pray)" I actually argue it was mispercieved on the part of the Celestica and this misperception is what caused Arceus to despair and withdraw.

From the day Sae arrived in Spain, it was not going well. He had just met up with his competitors in the Royal Madrid club and he had felt absolutely, utterly defeated. There was no way he was going to become the world's best striker. It was out of reach, for a nobody like him.

Not even in academics can Sae outshine them. Although it was obvious that he clearly wanted to at least try to best them in something, not even trigonometry was on his side. In many ways, Sae had already given up on his dreams.

Merely a month has passed and Sae still has not found any sort of joy since coming to Spain. Everyday, even after merciless professors unleashing questions that required at least 18 scholars and 23 trained council leaders at the Agora from Ancient Athens to decipher (his classmates solved it in approximately 0.394 seconds), he also had to face brutal training sessions from his dog-like coach, barking orders at him day after day, week after week. This torture sessions continued on for weeks on end, until Sae could not take it anymore. He just really wanted a break, and just really wanted to see Rin again. Sae shut the door to his apartment, and really, REALLY wish he did not break down in his paper-thin dorm walls. That all went down the drain when he turned his phone on and saw Rin, 5 year old Rin, smiling back at him. Soon, one tears turned to two, two turned to three, and three turned to many. Itoshi Sae, Japan's child prodigy, the treasure of Japanese Football, was having a mental breakdown in his dorm room in Spain.

Who would be the knight in shining armor to save his day?

...You, of course. This wouldn't be a Sae x reader fanfic if it weren't you.

Kind-hearted you living next door overheard his sobbing and got worried. Who would be crying at 6.50 pm in the night? You were tired from studying about the law from the Roman Empire anyways, and thought you deserved a break from the mind boggling questions posed to you. (Seriously, who asks people to find the cause of the downfall of Rome? As a LAW STUDENT?)

So, you did only what your tired mind could think of. Bake some cookies for your neighbour. Do you have all the ingredients? Yes, since you bought them on a whim, albeit losing the motivation to bake immediately. You got up from your chair and decided to head to your kitchen. (LET HIM COOK 🔥🔥🔥)

Although the cupcakes were baked on a whim, you can't deny that the sweet strawberry scent was in fact, quite convincing that this cupcake was most definitely one of the best things you've baked in a while (being a law student doesn't really allow for leisure activities..), and it did help get your mind off the excruciatingly painful essay questions anyways. Now, all you have to do it just pass it to him. Easy, right?

The doorbell rang once. Twice. Thrice, and you hear heavy footsteps trudging to the door. You took a deep breath as you hear the door handle turn, and tired eyes glanced at the cupcakes in your hand before turning towards you. All you could do was give an awkward smile to the eyes, covered by the bangs and looking absolutely demolished. "Um, You...sounded like you weren't having the best of days. You, um, do you want a cupcake?" A deafening silence fills the room. "Okay. Thanks." Sae gives a small smile. An approval.

You and Sae's "neighbourliness" got closer and closer, until Sae and you actually were considered best friends. Best friends that attended everything together, from Sae's soccer matches to your court proceedings, and even Sae following you to every frat house party (in the breaks given, of course.) to ensure that nobody dares to even come one inch closer to you when you're intoxicated.

It was actuallg at this particular party when you realised your true feelings for Sae. And that's when you're sober, so you REALLY know it's real. The realisation hits you when you come back from the toilet to see Sae pushing someone away approaching your drink with a ... something in hand. They were then engaged in an argument, and then, Sae just...slapped him. It was like everything happened in a flash, but the constant increase in your heartbeats sing a different song. Sae eventually was so done with the guy he went upstairs, dragged your arm and found a quiet place to sit at to calm down.

"...fucker. What a bitch. Can't believe he would even think I would let him touch that." Sae kept grumbling and mumbling about it, but your mind was only focus on how his long lashes fluttered when he batted his eyelids, or how he crumples his cup in rage when bitching about that guy.

For you. For you, for you, for you, for you, for you-

Thoughts were swarming your head right now, and Sae, seeing the distressed look on your face, got worried for you.

"You kay?" Sae's worried voice asked.

"Y-yeah, thanks." You meekly reply.

The music from the party slowly drowns out. The Spotify playlist that Sae made (for you too, by the way) was all you could hear beside the blood rush in your ears.

"Mmn, this song is good." Sae commented.

Have to get this off my chest, I'm telling you today..

"Sae, can I tell you something?" You raised up.

"Hm? What's up?" Sae questioned, his eyebrows raising.

That when I talk to you, oh, Cupid walks right through, and shoots an arrow through my heart..!

"Promise, PROMISE, you won't laugh?" You had to make sure. It's gonna be very extremely embarrassing if he does.

"What's got ya so worked up? I won't, I promise!" Sae ruffed up your hair adoringly.

And I sound like a loon, but don't you feel it too?

"Well, I-" You hesitated. Will he reciprocate your feelings? What if he doesn't and finds you annoying? What if he didn't even like you as a friend? What if-

"Hey, you're off again. What did you want to say?" Sae's voice takes on a sterner tone, concern etched all over his face for you.

"Well, I confess I loved you from the start.."

You have never seen Sae's face so red before.

The Stunning Ancient Greek Mosaics of Zeugma

The ancient Greek mosaics of Zeugma in Turkey are true archaeological treasures that can still be admired at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep, Turkey.

The 30,000-square-meter (320,000 square foot) museum, which opened its doors in September of 2011 is the largest mosaic museum in the world, containing 1,700 square meters (18,000 square feet) of ancient works of art.

The museum focuses on the mosaics found in Zeugma, which was originally founded as Seleucia by Seleucus I Nicator, a general in Alexander the Great’s Army, in 305 BC.

After Alexander’s death, his generals divided his empire among themselves. Although Seleucus moved his main capital to Antioch, Seleucia became an important center of trade, Hellenistic culture, and regional government under the Seleucids.

The city was populated by Greeks, Syrians, and Jews. It was an affluent city with a population of eighty thousand and in the 2nd and 3rd century BC was of sufficient stature to be compared to another great center of Hellenism, Alexandria, in Egypt.

The Roman Empire’s forces conquered the city in 64 BC, renaming it Zeugma (meaning “bridge” or “crossing” in ancient Greek).

The Romans held Zeugma until 253 AD, when the Persian Sassanids conquered the city, putting a violent end to its most significant years.

The ancient Greek mosaics of Zeugma

The treasures of Zeugma, including its vaunted mosaics, remained relatively unknown until the year 2000. Zeugma is now eighty percent underwater after it was flooded with the waters of a nearby artificial lake.

Archaeologists were alarmed at the flooding of the area and immediately began excavations to save the ancient treasures.

Most of the Greek mosaics of Zeugma, which were recovered in excellent condition, belong to the 2nd century BC preceding the Romans.

However, some of the mosaics appear to belong to the Roman era, as they depict Greek and Roman deities together.

In addition, some of the mosaics deviate from purely Hellenistic style and imagery, with archaeologists placing them in the Roman era of the city’s history.

The archaeological site of Zeugma

The archaeological site of Zeugma is a UNESCO World Heritage Center, located ten kilometers (six miles) away from Nizip within the boundaries of Gaziantep.

The preserved parts of the ancient city include the Hellenistic Agora, the Roman Agora, two sanctuaries, the stadium, the theater, two bathhouses, and the Roman legion military base.

Remains of the administrative structures of the Roman legion, the majority of the residential quarters, Hellenistic and Roman city walls, and the East, South and West necropolis can also be found there.

The archaeological site of Zeugma is of immense historical significance in the understanding of the ancient integration of Hellenistic and Semitic cultural spheres and the birth of syncretistic hybrid cultures in the region.
