I've been following you for 4+ years and yup I totally get the misogynistic connotation of bitch. I think unfortunately it's become so mainstream that people are used to it and use the word almost as a default insult. Not everyone uses it with those intentions but the word itself deeply rooted in misogyny

yeah, idk if the normalization of it is bad or good necessarily so much as just a thing that has happened but like. its common usage doesn't erase its history or the way that a lot of men Literally Still Use It. idk bro there is a way that dangerous men say bitch that is distinctly and wildly different from women using it with their friends or me saying it when i stub my toe. i'm sure someone with a greater understanding of both feminism and etymology than me has written about this

i think people also hear 'x is a slur' and immediately their internet poisoned brains go 'well then that means only x people are allowed to reclaim it' which just isn't a useful way to think about the world. and i think some of the pushback here is probably people seeing 'bitch a slur' and then thinking well i say bitch, and i don't think/don't want to think that i'm doing anything wrong by using it. which they probably aren't but that doesn't make it not a slur.

We know V9 is gonna be heavy on the Alice in Wonderland motifs but since RWBY is known for mingling various allusions for characters/arcs I’d love to see references to some Norse or Greek mythology/Odyssey that people originally thought the island was a reference to. Like the tree is possibly a reference to the Nine Realms… how cool would it be to see some other mythical creatures like Sleipnirs, Sirens, etc down in Ever After?

Plus the original Alice in Wonderland novel had a Griffon character which would also cross reference with any possible Greek mythology motifs.

More or less just saying more allusions outside Alice in Wonderland would be awesome to see lol

i would not be surprised if that was the case considering there's a big ass tree in the center of the ever after, surrounded by various biomes—it certainly gives the vibes of a world tree, if nothing else, a concept that appears in quite a few mythologies.

then again, i'm still in the middle of reading alice in wonderland—which is to say i read the first chapter and stopped to think bc there's already bits and pieces there about alice and how familiar it sounds wrt certain rwby characters and haven't continued since—so i can't exactly say if there are any significant trees present...

either way, alice in wonderland is just one allusion which has already gone through rwbyfication and has turned into the girl who fell through the world, and who knows what that story is exactly about—if the narration in the teaser is anything to go by, i figure we're going to find out throughout the volume—so who's to say they won't throw others in, esp with multiple different biomes to play around with?

i mean... personally i'm feeling they've already mixed in some strong norse mythology vibes, though if they're going with a world tree, i could see them taking bits and pieces from here and there instead of locking themselves in with one version.

I've separated these fics into a few distinct eras, because I think the show's long-running status has impacted characterization over time -- not to say that older fics aren't still worth reading, but there might be some things that are different (e.g. pre-V4 there was a lot of speculation that Blake was an orphan, pre-V8 there were a lot of V7 ending fix-its and such). Tossing you in the deep end with ship names sorry you're going to have to figure it out yourself <3

And from here on there will be a lot of Bees Schnees on this list! Kicking this off with a bang. Technically a sequel to another fic, part of a larger Mr. and Mrs. Smith inspired AU.

Ruby is a servant of Salem. Weiss followed in her sister's footsteps. Blake never left the White Fang. Yang was raised by Raven as the Spring Maiden. None of Team RWBY ever made it to Beacon, yet Team RWBY still formed... albeit under different circumstances.

Fascinating that Weiss would, in most circumstances, be the worst leader for team RWBY -- but under these circumstances, she has to be.

Unfortunately, Glynda wasn’t especially plugged-in to social media. She was not prepared.

“For example, this is the most recent tweet from Yang Xiao Long’s Tweeter account.” She cleared her throat and read aloud.

“Yang_Bang_Gang tweets: ‘can not pick this burrito up bc its heavy and im scared it’ll bust a fat burrito nut if i lift it so its positioned like a meat obelisk for me to deepthroat’.”

Ozpin just nodded solemnly before turning to face the screen at his desk. “Humor in the face of obstacles is a good quality for a huntress to have.”

Glynda sighed and checked Yang’s Chapsnat.

hmu if your hot, read the caption. In the photo, the young lady had the camera zoomed in, with barely enough room to show her sunglasses, her grin, and the big finger she was flashing.

Glynda was already feeling tired.
