A (Few) Day(s) in the Life - Lingerie
A very overdue second chapter of random glimpses into the lives of my favorite girls.
This was meant to be a short, fade to black ficlet while I tried to remember how to do this words thing. Close enough.
Thank you to everyone who has ever left me a comment on AO3 (I owe so many responses over the last 3 years) or sent me a message on Tumblr, encouraging me to continue after all this time. I’m really hoping to finish a few things next year as I still owe everyone a Staubrey origin and cliffhanger reveal.
For @tiny-maus-boots and @kimmania. I honestly don’t know if I’d be here without your unending support and encouragement in life as well as writing.
And for Rylee, who somehow convinced-slash-hoodwinked me into thinking about the Mitchsen chapter, which in turn reminded me I needed to get this one done first.
Words: 3600ish (aka the 2nd shortest thing I've ever written.)
Rating: Mature/Explicit
Chapter 1 (and the whole Nowish Universe) on AO3
Master Post for Tumblr
And just because, the Spotify playlist that helped me write pretty much every Pitch story.

“Is it dumb that I’m nervous?”
Stacie turned to look at Aubrey who very clearly was avoiding looking at her. Which meant she missed the loving smile that Stacie aimed her way.
“Bree.” Aubrey didn’t turn, merely slid another hanger to the side and intently looked at the clothing behind it, which was exactly the same style and color. “There is a list of things you are not, and dumb is definitely on it.” Stacie resumed going through the rack in front of her, deciding this was one of those times that Aubrey needed to pretend they weren’t having a discussion about whatever was bothering her. She knew they’d eventually get to the heart of it. “Were you nervous with Chloe?”
A pause. “No.” Another few seconds filled with the sounds of hangers sliding along metal racks. “Chloe is home.”
“Are you saying Beca’s less?” Stacie grinned even though they still weren’t looking at each other.
“I’m not even going to dignify that with an answer.” Very snooty, very amused but then a longer pause. “But my history with Beca is more…”
“Spicy?” Stacie looked over her shoulder and saw Aubrey’s beautiful smile in profile.
“I suppose that’s one way to put it,” Aubrey agreed wryly. “But that’s not quite what I meant.”
Stacie looked around them and lowered her voice even though there was no one else near them in the shop. “You guys have been alone before.”
“Not like this, no. Not since…” Aubrey’s voice was even quieter and Stacie had to strain a little to hear it. “You and or Chloe have always been in the house or within minutes of getting home.”
“Really?” Stacie turned and rested one elbow on the rack. “I’d have sworn…” She thought for a minute, watching Aubrey’s hands as they ran down lacy fabric. Their movements were graceful but precise. Controlled.
Chloe had a convention she wanted to attend the following week and it was Stacie’s turn to go with her, leaving Aubrey and Beca at home to hold down the fort. It was something they had done many times before, but it was the first time since beginning their new shared life together.
The nerves were making a kind of sense now, Stacie mused, reaching out to run her hand down Aubrey’s back before moving past her to another rack of lingerie. She didn’t know yet what exactly was going on in her beautiful wife’s head, but since Aubrey was at least dancing around the subject, it hopefully wouldn’t be too long before she could help work through it.
Briefly she wondered if Beca was nervous before deciding that of course she was. The two women were far more alike than either of them usually admitted to. In fact, she’d almost be willing to place a large sum of money that whatever was setting off Aubrey’s nerves was at least partially in Beca’s mind as well.
“Bree?” Stacie waited until Aubrey turned and held up a random negligee. “What about this one?”
“Hmm?” She turned, eyed it narrowly from top to bottom and pursed her lips before giving a single dismissive shake of her head “No.”
As she turned away, Stacie sighed and hung it back up before moving to stand next to Aubrey and flip through the same rack, though she wasn’t paying any attention to the clothing in front of them. “Are you turning your nose up at everything in every store we’ve stopped at today because you can’t find anything you think will make a good impression on the woman who already loves you?”
“I don’t know what you mean.” Another precise sliding of hangers from right to left.
“You’re using your high voice, Bree.” Stacie nudged her gently with her elbow. “The denial tone doesn’t work on me anymore.” She’d used to think it was just haughty and dismissive – and okay, sometimes it was – but now she knew that it usually hid uncertainty and a need to look in control when Aubrey felt anything but. “You could wear the Bella uniform and she’d still think you’re one of the three hottest women she’s ever seen. She’d be dying to rip it off you.”
Aubrey snorted. “That last is true – mostly because of the PTSD it would cause.”
“Ooh, yeah. That’s probably true.” She waited a moment, trying to figure out the best way to help. “It’s true though. She loves you and when I asked if you wanted to pick up matching lingerie, I didn’t mean to make you think you needed to dress up.”
“No, I know.” Aubrey glanced at her from the corner of her eye. “And I know I don’t, but…” She bit her lip in a very Chloe manner that made Stacie smile. “I want to make it special.”
“The fact that you exist makes every day special, love.” She leaned over and kissed Aubrey’s cheek. “For all of us. What’s really going on?”
With a sigh, Aubrey finally turned to face her, sheepishly meeting her eyes. “I have a lot to make up for.”
“What do you mean?” Stacie’s brow furrowed.
She wondered if there was something else she was missing, having obviously not realized that the two women had never been fully alone together before. Sure, she and Chloe hadn’t yet either – a circumstance they were happily changing next weekend as well – but that was more random luck than anything. She knew how they all felt, knew them better than herself some days, and it had never occurred to her that any of them would be hesitant. Not with how much they loved and trusted each other.
Then again, she reminded herself, they were only three months into their new phase of life. A fact that she found hard to accept since it felt like they had been together for years this way. Plus, Aubrey and Beca were built a little different. More prone to listen to their darker fears even knowing they shouldn’t. Not anymore. And now that Stacie was thinking about it that way, things started falling into place.
“I wasn’t nervous with Chloe because she’s been my home for years. But with Beca…” Aubrey continued, looking down and then back up through lowered brows. “I worry she… It’s just that, the first year I was so terrible.”
“Aubrey.” Stacie very much wanted to reach out and hold her but didn’t think it was the place even if it was the damn time. “You’re both so far past that –”
“Rationally I know that!” Aubrey raised her hands in frustration but kept her voice low. “Or tell myself I do.” She signed softly, shoulders slumping. “But does she know?”
It was said so plaintively that Stacie pulled her into a hug, potential audiences be damned. “Know what, love?”
“That she’s as necessary to my continued existence as you and Chloe.” Aubrey pressed her face into Stacie’s shoulder, the words muffled but the worry coming through loud and clear.
Stacie thought about the way Beca would sometimes watch Aubrey in their quiet moments – while one or the other was working quietly on a laptop on the couch; when Aubrey was taking pictures of her garden, trying out her artistic angles while sober – her eyes so filled with peace and love… Chloe had confided to Stacie that on at least one occasion she’d had to make up some excuse and leave the room because it had moved her to tears.
“Oh… I’m very certain she knows.” Stacie kissed the side of her head. “But I’m definitely behind Project Woo Her if that’s what you want. I will never say no to looking at all these sexy outfits and picturing you in them.” She leaned down and whispered in Aubrey’s ear. “And to imagine Beca slowly removing them from you.” There was nothing more beautiful in Stacie’s mind than the image of any of them being together.
With a laugh, Aubrey stepped back, her smile genuine and more than a touch wicked. “Don’t think you’re going wind me up and lure me into the dressing room, lover.”
Relieved at the teasing, Stacie lifted her chin at the challenge. “Don’t think I’m ever going to give up trying.” She turned Aubrey around and patted her on the ass. “Now, let’s find you something that’ll make Beca’s legs weak before you even lay one silken fingertip on her skin.” Aubrey flashed a wink over her shoulder and Stacie felt some of the tension drain from her. It was likely only temporary, but she’d just do her best to draw the rest of it out or, at the least, keep Aubrey distracted for the next week.
In part she supposed that’s why she had made the suggestion that they go shopping for the non-boring sleepwear that Beca said they should bring over. Both because she wanted to reaffirm, once again, that this was all okay and she was one million percent behind this amazing new life they were making as a foursome. But also, that she expected Aubrey and Beca to enjoy any and all of their moments alone just as Aubrey was encouraging Stacie to do with Chloe. Sure, it might be a little strange to just be two bodies instead of three or four, but they all knew each other inside and out – puns absolutely intended – and she couldn’t imagine it feeling awkward for any of them.
It certainly hadn’t phased Aubrey just a few weeks earlier when she and Chloe had finally realized what had been growing between them for years.
Then again, the rest of them didn’t have the contentious history that Beca and Aubrey did, and the last thing she wanted to do was dismiss Aubrey’s worries and make her feel worse about them. Maybe she’d just have to have a talk with Chloe to see if there was matching nerves and anxiety at the Beale-Mitchell household and see what they could do to help their partners relax. She smirked to herself as she continued that thought and realized that even if she and Chlo failed, once the other two were past the first few minutes they would help each other relax just fine. Repeatedly.
After a couple more minutes of perusing, holding up various outfits up to each other and dismissing them, Stacie pulled a white bustier and panty set and held them up. It was satin and lace, zipped down the center and it was solid with none of the peek-a-boo cutouts that she normally bought. Simple and yet it called to her to try it on.
“Hey Bree? I’m going to go try this one.”
“Oh?” Aubrey turned and Stacie held it behind her back. “Seriously?” She pouted and Stacie laughed.
“You’ll see soon enough.” The pout deepened and she relented. “I won’t make you wait until we’re home – you’ll get to decide if we buy it or not.”
“Oooh, I’m in charge today?” Aubrey’s eyebrows rose in delight.
“For now.” As Aubrey laughed behind her, Stacie made her way to the fitting rooms and found most of them unoccupied. Taking the one against the left wall, she locked the door behind her and quickly stripped, knowing that Aubrey would be drifting closer as she looked for the perfect outfit.
The straps over the shoulder were adjustable and fit comfortably and when she zipped the top closed, it wasn’t constrictive. The front of the bustier came down to points that would pair perfectly with nylons and garter straps if one were so inclined.
Each room had tri-fold mirror on one wall so shoppers could get a better idea of how everything looked from all angles and after a couple minutes of turning this way and that, Stacie decided she approved. She’d also decided that Aubrey would look utterly fucking delicious in this same outfit in black and definitely with nylons. Satisfied with how it fit her, she opened the door and found Aubrey only a little way away, holding up another bustier and panty set that was all silk, lace and almost matched the color of Chloe’s eyes.
“We’re definitely going to have to get that one for her,” Stacie said softly, leaning against the doorframe.
“Yeah?” Aubrey tilted her head as she eyed the outfit. “I think so too.” She finally turned her head and toward the dressing rooms. “I thi –” She stopped mid word, her eyes widening and her hands going slack, suddenly nerveless fingers losing their grip on the hanger and letting it fall to the ground, utterly forgotten.
It immediately brought to mind the night she’d proposed; Aubrey had reflexively dropped the rib that she’d been eating when Stacie had brought out the ring. It almost shamed her to admit it, but her ego purred under the immediate desire that lit Aubrey’s face, even as she marveled that this beautiful and complex woman was hers to love forever.
Then Aubrey was moving, a not-quite-casual swift power walk that bordered on a charge. Stacie was unprepared as her wife pushed her back into the fitting room, closing the door behind them. Stacie started laughing as Aubrey’s hands began to run over her hips and thighs; the amusement at the best reaction she had ever gotten in public from Aubrey filtering the slow building sizzle as the touches burned with serious intent.
“Bree?” The chuckles still bubbled up but they were followed quickly by the urge to moan as Aubrey’s fingertips dipped just under the edge of the panties and slid back and forth.
“Can you be quiet?” Aubrey’s lips were busy pressing kisses to her exposed upper chest and Stacie took an involuntary deep breath, lifting herself closer and it was Aubrey’s turn to chuckle against her skin.
“Me?” Stacie found herself in the unfamiliar position of having her mind short circuit and having to sprint to catch up with her normally restrained in public spouse. “You’re the loud one.”
Aubrey’s head snapped up, indignant. “I am not!” To her credit, it was whispered and not shouted like it usually was at home. The corner of her mouth twitched. “That’s Beca.” She slowly backed Stacie up until she was against the wall.
“Oh, right.” Stacie licked her lips as Aubrey’s hands resumed their wandering over her body. She flicked a look at the door and was grateful to see that even in her rush to get them in the room, Aubrey had locked it behind them. “You’re going to get us kicked out of here before we can buy these, aren’t you?”
“Not if we’re quiet.” She paused, just the slightest bit, giving Stacie the opportunity to stop things before they got too far.
As if.
“Well, I did say you’re in charge…”
With a familiar wicked glint in her eyes, Aubrey’s fingertips once again dipped under the edge of the panties but this time she pushed, her palms skimming down and taking the fabric with them until they fell to the floor. Her nails ran back up the outside of Stacie’s thighs and up her sides to trace the edge of the bustier, tickling as they barely grazed her skin. “God, you look amazing, Stacie.” She flattened her hands and ran them over Stacie’s breasts to her stomach, curving them around her ribs before retracing her steps. “You feel so good.”
It was unspoken that they would need to be quick as well as quiet. There had only been a handful of times that Stacie had been able to coax Aubrey into anything even half as risky and all of them had been at night and most with alcohol. She knew without being told that if she hadn’t come before Aubrey reached whatever timer she had going on in her head, Stacie would have to wait until they got home.
Aubrey’s fingers were on the zipper of the bustier and Stacie could tell she wanted to do it slow, teasingly, but they just didn’t have that sort of time. She pulled normally, as if this were any normal trying on of outfits, but the second Stacie’s breasts were free, her lips covered one nipple and sucked lightly.
Stacie’s head rebounded lightly off the wall as she jerked in pure reaction and she winced at the small thump, hoping it didn’t carry. She tried to say something, anything, to keep anyone from asking if she was okay, but even a simple “Oops” wouldn’t pass her lips when Aubrey’s hand slid down and cupped her center.
“I think that one looks great, Stace.” Aubrey’s voice was shockingly even for someone who’s lips brushed Stacie’s nipple as she spoke for the benefit of an audience that might not even exist. “Try the other one.” As if her middle finger wasn’t slightly stroking Stacie’s clit in all the right ways to make her whimper even though that was definitely not in today’s rules.
‘Let’s hear it for Posen control,’ she thought giddily, her legs parting to give Aubrey a little more room. But even as she really hoped Aubrey didn’t expect her to answer, she looked down and saw Aubrey’s eyebrow lift in challenge.
Goddamnit.
She licked lips suddenly gone dry and took a deep breath. “Sure, Bree.” She was rewarded by Aubrey’s mouth on her breast once more, tongue swirling to match the motions of her middle finger.
Stacie could already tell it wasn’t going to take long, the sheer fact of Aubrey – her unbelievably sexy but usually-proper-in-public wife – taking her in broad goddamned daylight, even if they were in a locked room, was enough to throw her halfway to orgasm; she could hear people talking in other rooms for fucks sake and Aubrey was still touching her and showing no signs of stopping.
With an ease brought about only by familiarity and deep trust, it didn’t take long for Aubrey to have Stacie wet and writhing against her. She swallowed the gasp as those long, skillful fingers filled her in a way guaranteed to reduce her to a trembling mess in their bed. Except she was plastered to a wall and had to lock her knees to keep herself upright as Aubrey took her in complete silence, their eyes locked together.
She would have thought it was the images of them in the mirrors that surrounded them that would have done it, but it was Aubrey’s gaze softening from wicked determination to sensual devotion – a distinction and emotion Stacie had never known before Aubrey – that pushed Stacie to the peak. She reached down with her hand and gripped Aubrey’s wrist, pulling up until Aubrey understood what she was after and thrust deep within, her palm tight to the curve of Stacie’s body; letting her set the pace and take what she needed. Her eyes closing involuntarily, Stacie rolled her hips, rising and falling, chasing her release until Aubrey leaned forward and raised ever so slightly on her tiptoes to whisper in Stacie’s ear.
“Come for me, mon Soleil.”
Her body surrendered instantaneously. She pulled harder on Aubrey’s wrist, her hips driving downward in rocking spasms as she rode Aubrey’s touch. Eventually her body slowed and she realized she had no idea how much time had gone by, though she was very aware she didn’t have enough time to sink into the blissful lassitude spreading through her muscles in the aftermath. They had to pull themselves together – or apart as the case may be – and clean up. There was also no way they were leaving without buying the garments that had been so gleefully stripped from her.
In several variations.
Leaning against the wall, she kept her eyes closed for another few moments, enjoying the languor before she had to hustle back into her clothes. Except she heard another zipper and looked around to find Aubrey digging into her purse one handed. She couldn’t help it; she started laughing as Aubrey pulled out a pack of wet wipes.
“Always prepared, aren’t you, love?” Just one of the legion of reasons she had fallen in love.
Despite the hint of rose in her cheeks, Aubrey handed over several. “Never know when they might come in handy.” In a lower aside, she half muttered, “Besides, it’s not like I’m going to go walking through the shop with you all over my hand.” A pause. “You’re definitely going to go pay and I’ll meet you in the car.”
Stacie merely smiled. “’Kay.”
It didn’t take long to clean themselves up and for Stacie to get dressed. When Aubrey left the room, power walking like a champ, Stacie took another moment to rearrange the outfit on the hanger and hopefully make it less obvious the room had been very occupied.
When she went back to the rack, she kept an unobtrusive eye on other shoppers but no one seemed to be paying any special attention to her. Deciding to stop worrying about it, she picked up the same outfit in black in Aubrey’s size, as well as a red outfit of similar design that caught her eye. It took only another moment to find the blue lingerie Aubrey had been holding and bring all four outfits up to the counter.
Finishing the transaction without the cashier giving her any sort of knowing look, she pushed her way through the door and out into the bright sun, wishing she’d brought her sunglasses with her. Lengthening her stride, she headed down the block to where they’d parked the car, anticipation singing through her veins like champagne. She couldn’t wait to get Aubrey home and in bed to return the gift she’d just been given…
And maybe later they’d invite Beca and Chloe over and see who was louder once and for all.

Ace Attorney Bonds of Fate: Turnabout Forgiveness part 3 Trial Day 2
Here is the script of the second case of Bonds of Fate, an Ace Attorney game that I came up with. It’s a fan made sequel to Spirit of Justice and takes place 2 years after Spirit of Justice. This isn’t a parody, this is what I would actually write if I was able to make a new Ace Attorney game.
Previous Cases:
Turnabout Express
Turnabout Forgiveness Part 1
Turnabout Forgiveness Part 2
Read the cases on AO3
Turnabout Forgiveness Summary:
During the last few years, Franziska Von Karma has been trying to improve herself. She took a sabbatical from prosecuting and has been going to counseling for her many issues. During this time she has became a more calm and approachable person, but is now riddled with guilt at her past misdeeds. She started her road to redemption by confessing to using falsified evidence in multiple trials so they can all get a fair retrial, resulting in her own disbarment. Her next step in the road to redemption is to host a gathering where she invites many of the people she has wronged in the past in order to apologize and make amends. This includes Phoenix Wright and many of his old friends. At the gathering, Phoenix actually gets along with and befriends the new Franziska. Unfortunately, things take a dark turn. Phoenix and  are both shot. Phoenix miraculously survives. When the lights turn on, Franziska is holding a gun, but she tearfully insists that she didn’t do it. Now Phoenix is defending his former rival/new friend in court against the surprisingly adept rookie Prosecutor Heal Yur Payne. This is despite Phoenix being one of the people Franziska is accused of shooting, and the fact that if Franziska is innocent, then the true killer is likely one of his friends.
Stuff that happens in this part:
The trial goes underway
We meet the Rival Prosecutor Heal Yur Payne
We learn Franziska’s Secret
A bombshell drops
Someone loses their cool
LOBBY MAY 12TH 2030
Court Records Inventory: Attorney Badge, Franziska's Apology List, Collapsable Scooter, Note from Franziska, Note from Phoenix, Picture of Safe, Calling Card, Picture of Tire Mark, Von Karma Vase, RSVP Letters, Rylee's Keys, Footage of Charlotte, Night Vision Goggles.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Well we're finally on the day of the trial. Didn't get much sleep last night, but I'll do my best anyway.)
Maya Fey, Trucy Wright, and Athena Cykes show up.
MAYA FEY:    Hey Nick! How are you doing? Haven't seen you since yesterday!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'm doing alright. How was your dinner?
MAYA FEY:    It was ok. It would've been better if SOMEONE didn't force us to get Italian!
ATHENA CYKES:    Questa donna si lamenta troppo!
MAYA FEY:    Don't speak fancy with me!... Anyway, Nick... Pearl and Trucy told me what was going on yesterday...... Franziska? Really?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I know! I'm shocked too!
MAYA FEY:    It's fine. I get it. She's nicer now and she is pretty hot. I will admit, I've had thoughts.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    You stayed there for a few hours. Did it really take you that long to cheer Franziska up?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... You know it didn't.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    I know. You need to save her Dad.
MAYA FEY:    So are you going to ask her out after your victory?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ... No. I think it will be better to wait. I promise I will do it!
               TRUCY WRIGHT:    Good!
Trucy then looks concerned.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    .... Dad, I noticed you had your lights on all night.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... I tried to turn my lights off, but it freaked me out.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    .... I'm guessing it's because of what happened in Franziska's kitchen.
KITCHEN FLASHBACK
A shadowy figure shoots Phoenix and Rylee Kahnvikt.
LOBBY MAY 12TH 2030
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    .... Your guess is correct.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    Dad, do you want me to stay in your room with you? I know that might be a bit weird to offer as an adult but I want you to be ok.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    It's fine. You'll always be my baby girl. I'll deal with this after the trial.
Richard Gumshoe shows up.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Hey pal! How's it going?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    It's going ok. I'm just preparing for this trial.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Good, good. Hey Athena, Ema told me how you stopped Electra Kute from shocking her. That was very brave of you.
ATHENA CYKES:    Thank you. I don't think I deserve that much praise, it was the right thing to do.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Of course it's the right thing to do! You should always stick up for your friends. It reminds me of the time Phoenix stopped Franziska from whipping me!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ............
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    ... Do you remember that? You stopped Franziska from whipping me because we're friends. It was pretty much the same situation as with Ema and Electra. Franziska was my superior so I couldn't fight back without fear of losing my job.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I mean... You're a big guy Gumshoe.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    So I can't feel pain then?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    .... Ok, you're right. I'm sorry I never stopped Franziska from whipping you.
               RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Apology accepted.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    So... Did you just come over here to be passive aggressive?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Yup! Good luck on your trial pal!
Richard leaves.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Well, I didn't really want a large helping of shame before the trial.
ATHENA CYKES:    Don't worry about it. We're going to do great.
Athena hits her fist into her palm.
ATHENA CYKES:    Franziska's got the two best lawyers in the Wright Anything Agency defending her today!
COURTROOM MAY 12TH 2030
Phoenix and Athena are standing behind the defense bench. The Judge is sitting down. The courtroom is talking. The door opens. Heal Yur Payne walks in the room carrying a pile of stuff including a large bag and some files. Heal is wearing a long green coat with boots. The pile of stuff covers her face. She walks towards the prosecution bench though she's clearly struggling with her pile.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Don't worry, I got it. I got it! I got it! Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah!
Heal stumbles and falls over behind the bench.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ..... Sorry. I'll pick this up real quick.
There are sounds of stuff getting picked up. Heal then pops her head from behind the prosecution bench and adjusts her round glasses which were crooked. Her face is finally seen in the light. While some of her facial features seem Asian, she has brown skin and natural hair tied into a bun (I'm leaning towards 4c hair). She is half Black, half Asian.
Note: Heal has a lot of mannerism like her father.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Sorry about that.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Oh, so that's Heal Yur Payne.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    I'm guessing so.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    ...... I think I know she's personally offended over Franziska's use of the whip.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Yup.
The judge slams the gavel.
THE JUDGE:    The court is now in session for the trial of Franziska von Karma for murder of Rylee Kahnvikt and the attempted murder of Phoenix Wright, who is defending her today?.... Hmmmm.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ha. Ha. Yeah. The Defense is ready your honor!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    The prosecution is ready... I think... Yeah I'm ready.
THE JUDGE:    How are you doing Heal?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm doing ok. How are you doing Mr. Klaus?
THE JUDGE:    I'm doing great. You can call me Santos.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No thank you. I'll rather be formal your honor.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wait! Your name actually is Santos Klaus!?
THE JUDGE:    Yes... Wait, did you not know my name?
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ummmm.
THE JUDGE:    We've know each other for years! And you don't now my name!?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Of course I know your name! I was just ummm telling a weird joke! He he.
               THE JUDGE:    ... Ok then.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Hello! You must Phoenix Wright! I'm Heal Yur Payne! You faced my father Winston in court, twice.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes, I did. I totally remember him.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Good. You beat him both times too, so I'm here for just one thing:
The camera gets close up to Heal. A sinister gleam goes over her glasses.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Revenge!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What!?
Heal gets a cheerful smile.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm just kidding. I'm not here for revenge. It seems your defendants in those cases were innocent so it's good my dad lost.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wow, you have a pretty good attitude about this.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm not here for victory, I'm here in the pursuit of justice! My dad's here right now in the gallery!
WINSTON PAYNE (IN GALLERY):    I can't believe it! My baby girl is facing Phoenix Wright!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'll make you proud Dad!
WINSTON PAYNE (IN GALLERY):    You already have!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Honestly Mr. Wright, it's a honor to face you. I've heard about you. You're quirky, but competent. Just look at what you're doing right now. You're defending a woman that is accused of shooting you.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yeah! That's me!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I mean, it's interesting that you're defending her in the first place since she whipped you unconscious.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yeah, well she's changed.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It seems so. Ema did you tell that I was personally offended by Franziska's whip... You can probably guess why.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes... I can.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I mean, I probably would've objected anyway, but me being half African American does play a role in my disgust.
Heal takes off her glasses.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    As a descendant of slaves, it definitely got under my skin when I heard that a white woman was allowed to go around whipping people. I'm mad at Ms. Von Karma, but I'm also mad at the system around here that allowed her to get away with it. If this system was working properly, then Ms. Von Karma would've lost her badge after she whipped you unconscious. Prosecutors violently retaliating against lawyers is something that should not be tolerated. Part of me wants to find whatever spineless judge allowed her to get away with that, and give him a piece of my mind!
The Judge starts sweating nervously.
THE JUDGE:    Ummmmm Yeah! Whatever Judge allowed Franziska to get away with that is a total hack! I wouldn't want to be that guy right now! Ha! Ha!
Heal puts her glasses back on.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Oh, and I'm sorry. I haven't been acknowledging you. I'm guessing you must be Athena Cykes.
               ATHENA CYKES:    I am.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You're the lawyer that can read emotions. Can you read my emotions right now?
               ATHENA CYKES:    .... Actually, no I can't.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Good! It worked!
               ATHENA CYKES:    What worked?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    My meditation technique. You're not the first person in history with empath abilities. Hundreds of years ago, there was a monk with your exact ability. The other monks got tired of him prying into their emotions, so they devolved a medication technique to block his powers. I tried that meditation technique and it seems to have worked!
ATHENA CYKES:    So you intentionally hid your emotions from me!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes!... Does that bother you?
ATHENA CYKES:    It doesn't bother me.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    It bothers me! It bothers me a lot! What is she hiding!?
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Relax Athena. I think she might just be shy. She seems like a nice girl.
THE JUDGE:    It's nice to see the defense and prosecution acting so cordial, but we're having a trial right now.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Of course your honor. I think we should bring out our first witness.
The camera pans up to reveal Ema Skye. She seems happy.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Hello Detective Skye! I hope you're doing fantastic!
EMA SKYE:    I'm always fantastic when I"m working with you Heal!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you so much Ema! Now please do a rundown of case.
               EMA SKYE:    Can do!
           WITNESS TESTIMONY STARTS:
EMA SKYE: On May 10th 2030, Franziska Von Karma was holding a gathering.
The purpose of the party was for her to apologize to some of the people she's harmed.
Shortly past 8, there was a power outage.
During the power outage it appears that Franziska Von Karma took her father's pistol. She went to the kitchen, and shot Rylee Kahnvikt and Phoenix Wright.
Franziska was able to hit both people despite firing blindly in the dark.
Rylee was hit three times in the back and one time in the head. It appears Rylee was killed instantly. Phoenix obviously miraculous survived.
After the lights came back on, the guests stormed into the kitchen to find Franziska holding the pistol.
           TESTIMONY ENDS:
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you Detective Skye.
               EMA SKYE:    You're very welcome.
THE JUDGE:    Hmmm. So Franziska shot both Rylee Kahnvikt and Phoenix Wright? Why would she do that?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    We have three working theories. The first theory is that Ms. Von Karma was killing Ms. Kahnvikt in retaliation. Ms. Kahnvikt yelled at Ms. Von Karma and then the two went into a room so that Ms. Kahnvikt would beat up Ms. Von Karma. Mr. Wright just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!!!    That is a very flimsy motive. Franziska told Miles Edgeworth, Kay Faraday, Adrian Andrews and myself to allow Rylee to yell at her and beat her up! I have witnesses to back me up on this!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    .......
Heal starts sweating nervously like her father.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You're absolutely right. Multiple witnesses told us that Ms. Von Karma expressed a belief that she should be allowed to get yelled at and beaten up. It's not a very good motive for murder. The second theory is that Ms. Von Karma was killing Ms. Kahnvikt because of this note.
Note From Rylee is presented to the court and added to the court records. The note reads, "Franziska, beating you up earlier wasn't enough! You need to die! You should probably be sleeping with one eye open from now on. - Riley Kahnvikt".
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Some believe that Ms. Von Karma saw this note and decided to take matters into her own hands.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!!!    That motive is even flimsier! She was in a house filled with people! If she felt threatened she could have showed Edgeworth or anyone that note. We could've called the police and had Rylee escorted from the premises.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ..... That is also true. These theories aren't very good. However, I do have my own theory. It makes more sense than the others, but it's based on a premise that I was told was impossible.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What's your theory?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    If you don't mind, I think it's best if I hold onto it before I get some proof.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I mean, I guess that's fine.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I do believe in my theory, and my goal is to prove the premise behind it. Before you head to cross examination, I need to present our evidence. First is of course, the autopsy report.
Rylee's Autopsy Report is added to the Court Records. It states her time of death as 8:04 pm. She was shot three times in the back and once in the head.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Secondly, I will present the murder weapon. This handgun. It's a six shooter detective pistol that belonged to Manfred Von Karma. Franziska's fingerprints are all over the gun.
Detective Pistol is added to the Court Records.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Next we will present how Mr. Wright survived being shot. Both bullets that hit Mr. Wright hit this flask that was in his suit jacket pocket.
The Flask is added to the Court Records. There are now two bullets lodged into the flask.
THE JUDGE:    I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank god Wright is an alcoholic.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I am not an alcoholic! The flask was filled with tea!
THE JUDGE:    Phoenix... The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Actually, Mr. Wright is telling the truth. The people at the lab tested the liquid and it is indeed green tea. Admittedly, a waste of resources, but they were too curious. Next piece of evidence is footage from Ms. Von Karma's doorbell camera.
Doorbell Camera added to Court Records. The camera is filled with photos of guests arriving, police arriving, guests leaving and police leaving.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    This camera caught every guest arriving at the party. Next I will present the results of a test I did on Ms. Von Karma. In this test I hooked Ms. Von Karma to a heart rate monitor, showed her multiple photos of people she knows, and asked her to think about how they make her feel.
Heart Rate Chart added to court records. The chart features photos of Miles Edgeworth, Charlotte Von Karma, Kay Faraday, Phoenix Wright, Adrian Andrews, Richard Gumshoe and Maya Fey. Average Hearts rates are as follow. Miles Edgeworth: 74. Charlotte Von Karma: 67. Kay Faraday: 66. Phoenix Wright: 134. Adrian Andrews: 69. Richard Gumshoe: 76. Maya Fey: 70.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    So why did you do this test anyway?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's related to my theory!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Which is?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I told you. I'm not telling you until I get more evidence.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ok.    (This test is actually really bothering me! Why did she do this test!?)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Here's another piece of evidence. A photo I took of Ms. Von Karma's kitchen counter.
Kitchen Counter Photo is added to Court Records. The Photo shows a counter covered in kitchen utensils, with a drawer opened that has a few utensils like a couple of clips, a cork screw and a sheathed knife.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Why did you take this picture?
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    My theory!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ok, ok, your theory.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Finally here's the last piece of evidence I will present! It.... ummmm.
Heal seems to realize she's forgotten something. She starts looking through her stuff.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm sorry. I know I left it somewhere. I'm certain I brought it with me.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (She forgot where she put a piece of evidence. She really does remind me of her father.)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Is it ok if I just present it later when I remember where I put it?
               THE JUDGE:    Of course.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    In that case, you can go ahead and do your cross examination on Detective Skye. Sorry for the trouble Mr. Wright.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    No problem.
           CROSS EXAMINATION STARTS:
Present Night Vision Goggles on "Franziska was able to hit both people despite firing blindly in the dark."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!!!    You claim that the killer was firing blindly in the dark, but I think you're wrong. I think they were wearing night vision goggles!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Were those glasses found at the scene?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ...No. But I believe the killer brought glasses like this to the scene of the crime so they can kill in the dark.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Wait, so you're saying they anticipated the power usage?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes, with the use of this!
Present Photo of Breaker
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    This breaker from Franziska's basement! I believe that the true killer turned off the power and put on these goggles to commit the murder in the dark.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Interesting. Now do you have any proof that the killer was wearing Night Vision goggles?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I do have proof that the killer could see in the dark!
Text: Sometimes you have to present multiple pieces of evidence at once. Don't worry, you'll only receive a penalty per attempt and not per evidence. If you get the evidence wrong, then they'll be a red x next to the wrong evidence and a green check mark next to the correct evidence.
Text: Present 3 pieces of evidence that suggests the killer could see in the dark.
Present The Flask, Rylee's Autopsy Report, and Detective Pistol.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    TAKE THAT!!!    The Flask, Rylee's Autopsy Report and the gun all suggest that the killer was able to see in the dark.
THE JUDGE:    How do they do that?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'll explain. Let's start with the gun. This is a six shooter gun, meaning 6 bullets. Now let's look at the autopsy report. Rylee was hit by 4 bullets. Finally the flask, it was hit by 2 bullets! All these pieces of evidence shows that every shot hit their target. A feat that is nearly impossible to do if you can't see!
The gallery converses on the revelation!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Now since we were able to establish that the killer was wearing night vision goggles, I have something else to show you. Let's see what happens if you put Rylee and Franziska under the night vision goggles filter.
A photo of Rylee and a photo of Franziska are put under the night vision goggle filter.
THE JUDGE:    They look almost the same under that filter!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Exactly! I believe that Franziska was the real target, not Rylee!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!!!
Heal then jumps really high in the air. She lands on top of the prosecuting bench. She is no longer wearing her coat and glasses. It's revealed that under her coat she is wearing a green spandex pants, a green spandex top, and boots. There are details of scales of justice on her spandex. Her arms and midriff are exposed so it's now clear she is very good shape with a 6 pack and biceps (she still does look feminine though). A second after she lands the hairband holding her bun together on her head snaps off and her hair practically explodes into an afro.
Note: That last part only happens this time. Every time she does this transformation from now on, her hair is an afro by the time she lands.
TRUCY WRIGHT (FROM THE GALLERY):    Oh wow!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wh-wh-what is going on!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Are you surprised? The mild mannered Heal Yur Payne was secretly: Justice Woman!!!
Ema Skye is smiling and blushing.
EMA SKYE:    I really like working with you Heal.
ATHENA CYKES:    Justice Woman? Are you some kind of super hero?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    In a way, we're all superheroes!
ATHENA CYKES:    Oh my god. She's a superhero.
EMA SKYE:    Why are surprised? I told you yesterday.
ATHENA CYKES:    I didn't think you meant it literally!
Heal back flips so she is now behind the prosecutor bench.
Note: Her mannerisms as Justice Woman are way more confident than in her mild mannered form.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Continuing on with my objection, Phoenix your theory is interesting but there are some holes in it. According to many witness accounts, including your own, the house was dark but not pitch black. Silhouettes could still be made out. Is that correct?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... Yes, I could still make out people's silhouettes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    See? Now that means someone with marksman training could probably hit both targets, even in the dark. Your client has marksman training. The biggest hole in your theory is that the killer bringing Night Vision Goggles with them means that the murder was premeditated. All the evidence points to this murder being spontaneous.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What evidence?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    The setting. This was a gathering in a house filled with people. The house had a doorbell camera so every guest would be accounted for. This was one of the riskiest places to commit a murder, especially a murder involving a loud firearm. Any halfway competent person wouldn't plan to commit a murder during such an event.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ... Ok... That's a good point.
WINSTON PAYNE (IN GALLERY):    Yeah! That's my girl!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Finally, your assertion that Franziska was the target is based off of speculation. Speculation that relies on the speculative idea that the killer was wearing night vision goggles. You do not have any actual proof backing your theory.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!!!    Actually I do have additional evidence that Franziska and I were the targets. Two pieces of evidence in fact!
Present Note from Franziska and Note from Phoenix
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    TAKE THAT!!!    Here are a couple of notes from the night of the murder.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Notes?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    One was a note that was written in Franziska's handwriting addressed to me. The other is a note addressed to Franziska that was in written in my handwriting. Both notes ask for a meeting in the kitchen at 8, shortly before the murder.
THE JUDGE:    Wait, so you both wrote each other a note to meet in the kitchen at 8? What are the odds of that?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Here's the thing, I didn't write the note that was written in my handwriting. Franziska also denies writing the note that was written in her handwriting. Both of these notes are forgeries created by the killer in order to lure us to our deaths!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!!!
Heal pulls out a piece of paper, writes on it, and then holds it up.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Here's a note written in my handwriting!
               THE JUDGE:    Ok.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I didn't write this.
THE JUDGE:    ??? But I just saw you write it.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Your honor, I think I know what she's saying. The only proof that Franziska and I have that we didn't write those notes is that we said we didn't write those notes.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Precisely!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ( I don't appreciate the sass young lady.)
THE JUDGE:    Are you accusing Wright of falsifying evidence?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No. I'm just saying he has no actual proof that those notes are forgeries. As such, they cannot be used as evidence in the manner he's using them.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Well, all our momentum got smacked down. It seems she's going to be harder to beat than her father and uncle.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    It's ok. She hasn't disproven any of our theories. She just showed that we don't have any definitive proof. I still think we're on to something.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    I agree. Heal definitely seems more confident as the Justice Woman character.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    ..... I don't think Justice Woman is the character.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I will say that these notes are very interesting. I would've loved to know about them earlier. When were you going to present them to the court Phoenix?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Well... I'm presenting them now.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Why didn't you present them earlier when I was presenting all of my evidence?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    They weren't relevant then.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    They weren't relevant to your case.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ...... Yes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok, so that's how it's going to be then.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..................
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Anyway, I think we should have an expert look at these notes and determine how long they would take to make. It sounds like there wasn't that much time to forge evidence.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    How long can it actually take?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It takes a long time. It can take an experienced forger ten minutes to write 2 sentences in someone else's handwriting depending on the circumstances. Though I'm no expert.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (If it takes a long time to forge handwriting, that means the killer might have been working on a time crunch.)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I think it's time to move on to the next witness.
Heal spins really fast and quickly changes into her mild mannered attire including the bun on her head.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    We'll let Ms. Von Karma tell her side of the story first.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Really?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes, I feel generous today. Thank you so much Detective Skye!
EMA SKYE:    It's always a pleasure!
Camera pans up to reveal Franziska von Karma as the next witness. She is wearing her hoodie again. The Gallery boos.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Why is the gallery booing?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    A lot of people who Ms. Von Karma whipped decided to come watch the trial. Speaking of which, Hello Zisky.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Zisky? My name is Franziska.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No.
Heal leaps up and lands in her Justice Woman attire.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I decided your name is Zisky now.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... It seems you exercise.
Heal flips and lands behind the prosecution bench.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky A.K.A Franziska von Karma, the prodigy. You started prosecuting at the age of 13 and went on to have a 5 year undefeated streak.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Yes I did.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    During those five years you won a total of 8 cases.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    8 Cases!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... Did you really have to tell people that?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I wanted to.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Only 8 wins within five years and you're undefeated? How does that work!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    At the beginning of her career most courts rightfully didn't allow a 13 year old to prosecute. After that she was taken off cases regularly. Zisky holds the record of being held in contempt of court 436 times.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska, what are you doing that's causing you to be held in contempt of court so often!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Whipping people. Many judges do not tolerate that.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky is also guilty of what some would call "rage quitting". She would often resign from cases herself when they started not going her way in order to create an artificial undefeated streak.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I couldn't lose.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky has been banned from 7 countries.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    7!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Really? Only 7? I remember it being more.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky had a brief working relationship with Interpol. That relationship ended over an incident where she attempted to toss Borginian Cocoons over the Borginian Border Wall.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I'm not apologizing for that one! The export ban on those cocoons is idiotic! Those cocoons can be used to cure an otherwise incurable disease! Yes, they can also be used to make a poison, but the same can be said of many household cleaning products that can be found in any supermarket! The export ban on those cocoons is purely political!!!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ...... You just do whatever, don't you?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    My actions are typically motivated.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky, your career was a blight on the profession.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It seems you dislike me.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I dislike many things you have done. Zisky, whether or not you're a murderer is what we're deciding here today, however one crime that you are definitely guilty is your frequent and ferocious use of the whip.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I will let you know that I avoided whipping people within your demographic. I'm aware there's historical baggage behind that.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    .... I'm not giving you kudos for that. You shouldn't have been whipping anybody.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That is true.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Your whip has caused so much damage and the people around you just let it happen. Some people just felt some pain for a little bit, but there have been some who have been injured by your whip. For example, Detective Angel Starr.
Angle Starr walks up to the prosecution bench and stands next to Heal.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Angel Starr, I remember you. I thought you were fired from being a detective.
ANGEL STARR:    I was, but I was able to get my job back after Damon Gant was arrested. It was wonderful to get my job back, but there were some drawbacks. I almost immediately had to work with this bitch!
Angel gestures to Franziska. She then flips her hair to her scarred side. Heal points to the scar.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Do you remember giving Angel this scar?
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... Yes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    She had to be rushed to the hospital. The doctors told Angel that she was probably going to lose her eye. Miraculously the doctors were able to save her eye and it was able to make a full recovery. Do you remember what Angel did that caused you to almost take away one of her eyes?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I wasn't trying to take away her eye.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You intentionally attacked her so we can't call it an accident. I repeat my question, why did you whip Angel?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ......... She ate the last donut before I had the chance to have one.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You know what I was like.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes. Franziska whipped with impunity. Her damage didn't stop there. Her casual violence inspired other prosecutors to follow suit. The violence in the court room problem has definitely exploded recently around here. There has definitely been a huge cry to end the violence in the courtroom problem lately especially since the incident involving Simon Blackquill and his invisible samurai sword.
ATHENA CYKES:    I was there for that incident. The lawyer survived, but there was so much blood.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    The fear of violence in the courtroom is at an all time high! There have been cases of witnesses not reporting crimes out of fear they might get hurt by a prosecutor. My father has been campaigning to put a stop to this! Until he wins, I have been stopping the violence 1 prosecutor at a time. Sometimes I walk in during their trials and force the judge to hold them in contempt of court. Sometimes, my solutions are more... violent. For example, this is Luisa.
Shows a picture of Luisa. She is a young Latina with wavy hair. She wears a white blouse and a floral skirt. She is holding a whip with a determined look on her face.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Luisa is a prosecutor who decided to have you as an influence. She went around whipping people all the time. I wasn't going to tolerate that, so I put a stop to it, with brute force! Now look upon at Luisa!
Luisa appears in court. She is covered in bandages and has casts on both arms. She waves her arms about in an exaggerated fashion.
MAYA FEY (IN THE GALLERY):    LUISA! NOOOOOOOO!!!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    This will be you if you do anything to piss me off!
Franziska gets a confident smile.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    If you wanted me to fall for your bluff, then you shouldn't have used Luisa. Everyone knows Luisa; she is a paralegal not a prosecutor. Also Luisa, your acting is very over the top and unconvincing.
Luisa looks disappointed. She tears off the casts and throws them to the ground.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    That's right, Luisa is a paralegal.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    How could we forget that? It's Luisa!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You really think that bluff would work on me? I was there for your interrogation. You're kind. You wouldn't beat me up.
Angel Starr smirks.
ANGEL STARR:    Well Heal, your bluff didn't work, fortunately. I guess we'll have to go to Plan A.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Plan A? Don't you mean Plan B?
ANGEL STARR:    What you just saw was Plan B. Heal came up with Plan B because she didn't want to feel bad for hurting Franziska, even though she deserves it.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I had my reservations after I found out how abusive her upbringing was; however, you're absolutely right Angel. It might be time to go to Plan A.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What's Plan A?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ..... Zisky, I'm not only Heal Yur Payne, I'm also Justice Woman.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That explains the spandex.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    As Justice Woman, I fight crime; however, I also enforce justice in the blind spots of the law. The law has many blind spots, the biggest example being when people abuse their power. You whipped so many people: lawyers, witnesses, and most disgustingly of all detectives. Whipping the detectives especially gets under my skin because they couldn't fight back without fear of losing their jobs. Sometimes detectives did fight back and kept their jobs, sometimes they didn't; and that just churns my stomach. I commend you for changing, but you still need to pay for your crimes. It's time for justice!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're still insisting on bluffing? I'm not falling for your bluff! I got a good read on
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    DROPKICK OF JUSTICE!!!
Heal jumps and dropkicks Franziska. Franziska goes flying back.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What the hell!?
Heal leaps next to Franziska, picks her up, and throws her back on to the witness stand. Heal then grabs one of Franziska's arms and puts it in a one handed arm lock.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Heal! You don't have to do this! She doesn't whip people anymore!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm aware of that. If she was still whipping people then I would be breaking this arm.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't understand! You were so soft on me during interrogation! You even sent Angel away when she was about to hit me!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I wanted you to be as comfortable as possible so I can read your body language accurately. I will admit that part of the reason that I sent Angel away was selfish. I wanted to get the first hit in. Angel deserves the second one.
Heal lifts Franziska up. Angel runs and punches Franziska in the face. Franziska falls to the ground. Heal picks Franziska up again and stands her up to the witness stand.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now it is time to receive proper punishment in the manner of Hammurabi!
               ANGEL STARR:    Now we're talking!
Luisa gets out three whips. She tosses one to Angel who catches it. Heal jumps and lands behind the prosecution bench. Luisa tosses Heal a whip. Heal catches the whip and strikes it on the prosecution bench. Angel and Luisa put on gloves.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Detective Starr, Luisa and I will give you a taste of your own medicine throughout your testimony.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I thought you and your father were against violence in the courtroom!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    We are; however, Franziska's use of the whip pisses me off so much that I'm willing to partake in a little hypocrisy. This hypocrisy isn't without merit. My father is leading Edgeworth in the polls currently, but that could change. Edgeworth has been ignoring the violence in the courtroom for too long. Maybe seeing his little sister receive violence will inspire him to act.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    So you're going to beat up Franziska to get to Edgeworth!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No, we're beating her up because she deserves it. Getting to Edgeworth is an additional benefit.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    There's a flaw in your plan. Edgeworth doesn't really care about me.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Edgeworth does care about you! He's probably very concerned about you right now....
Phoenix looks in the gallery and is dumbfounded.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ARE YOU ON YOUR PHONE!?
Edgeworth is in the gallery holding his phone. He puts it away.
MILES EDGEWORTH (IN GALLERY):    Sorry about that. I had to respond to a text. Don't worry Phoenix, I'm paying attention.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    THEY'RE GOING TO TORTURE FRANZISKA!
MILES EDGEWORTH (IN GALLERY):    Torture? That's a bit hyperbolic.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No, torture is an apt word for what we're about to do to Franziska.
MILES EDGEWORTH (IN GALLERY):    If whipping people is torture then that means Franziska was torturing people.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ...... She was.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ok, this is clearly not going to convince Edgeworth.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Then Franziska will be used as an example for other prosecutors! Now let's get into positions!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Your honor! Put a stop to this!
THE JUDGE:    I'm sorry, but no. SOME JUDGES have allowed Franziska to go around whipping people, so it's only fair that I allow the same to happen to her.
Luisa stands next to the defense bench. Angel stands about 10 or so feet behind Franziska.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky, during your testimony you will not only be whipped, you will be subjugated to other forms of violence. Don't worry, it will only be acts of violence that other prosecutors have gotten away with in this courthouse.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I'm guessing that isn't comforting.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's not. After we get all the information we need from you, we will cap off our violence with the grand finale!
Heal, Luisa and Angel whip Franziska a few times.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You will be whipped unconscious.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    If you do this, you'll be no better than she was!
Seemingly out of nowhere, Heal lands on the defense bench. Wright is shocked and quickly leans back a bit. Heal is squatting on the bench. She stares a few inches away from Wright's eyes with intensity.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ....... Phoenix, us beating up Zisky because she was an abuser is clearly not the same as her whipping people with minimal provocation. What you just used is called a false equivalence fallacy.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    .......... OK!
Heal leaps back behind the prosecution bench.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Phoenix, I'm glad you care about me now, but you should just let them do it. You can't really argue that I don't deserve it.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now Zisky, tell us about the incident.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ok.
           WITNESS TESTIMONY STARTS:
Note: Franziska gets whipped by Heal, Luisa and Angel after every section of the testimony.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA: Shortly past 8, I was in my childhood bedroom when I heard gunshots. I ran to where it came from.
I knew they had to come from the kitchen. When I entered I saw a figure quickly move out of the way.
I looked to see where the figure went to. I then felt a weight being added to my hoodie pocket.
I pulled the placed item out of my pocket and felt it all over. It was a gun.
The lights turned on and I saw Phoenix and Rylee on the floor. I told Phoenix it wasn't me, before the rest of the guests came in.
           WITNESS TESTIMONY ENDS:
Note: In a previous draft, the gun was placed in her skirt pocket, but I decided that Hoodie pocket makes more sense. I also changed it to where Franziska wears Yoga pants now instead of a skirt.
Franziska gets whipped a few more times. She seems to lose consciousness and drapes on top of the witness bench.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Hmmmm. That's surprising. I thought she could handle more.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    This doesn't make anything right!
Franziska starts lifting her body up from over the bench.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska, are you ok?
Franziska lifts her head up completely. She has a smug look on her face.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    So you three claimed you were going to beat me up? When is that going to start happening?
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ??????
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Wait, you've already been beating me!? I didn't notice!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    .... Ok. We'll make sure you notice.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Why Franziska? Why?
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Franziska pretty much said exactly what she told us yesterday.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    We should probably press her anyway. Maybe we can find out some more info.... What are we going to do about Heal and her goons beating up Franziska!?
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    I don't know. You seem to mind more than Franziska does.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Athena is probably right about that.)
           CROSS EXAMINATION STARTS:
Press "Shortly past 8, I was in my childhood bedroom when I heard gunshots. I ran to where it came from."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    So you ran towards the gunshots? What were you planning on doing?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't know. But I needed to know what was going on.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's impressive that you were able to rush through the dark hallway.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I know that mansion very well. The dark does not deter me.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You seem pretty brave. Either that or you don't value your own life.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ......... I'm pretty brave.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Good.
Heal, Luisa and Angel whip Franziska a few more times.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now time to diversify the violence! Luisa!
Luisa holds up two of her fingers and swings them. This causes a slash that cuts off a bit of Franziska's hair. She is imitating Simon Blackquill and his iaijutsu a.k.a invisible samurai sword.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    What was that!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That was an Iaijutsu or as a I refer to it as: an invisible samurai sword. It's typically just a technique for idle threats, but there have been some injuries. Luisa here knows how to use an invisible samurai sword. She is also adept at various other forms of invisible weaponry.
Luisa seems to be holding an invisible handle. She then pulls an invisible cord. A sound of a chainsaw can now be heard. Luisa has a demented look on her face.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Luisa no! I told you no invisible chainsaw!
Luisa gives puppy dog eyes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That face isn't going to work on me! Put away the chainsaw!
Luisa seemingly turns the chainsaw off and throws it aside.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Hmmmm. I guess we'll starting off small. A little cut hair is nothing.
Taka (Simon Blackquill's hawk) then dive-bombs Franziska and starts attacking her.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    AAAIIIIEEEE! What the!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That's Blackquill's hawk Taka. Blackquill also uses him to harass opponents. Luisa was able to gain his trust during the brief period her and Blackquill dated.
Taka lands on Luisa's shoulder. He nuzzles up to her and she pets him.
Press "I knew they had to come from the kitchen. When I entered I saw a figure quickly move out of the way."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    You told us yesterday you saw a figure move quickly. Is there anything you noticed about the figure that you forgot to tell us?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Hmmmmm. I can't say. However I do remember I detail I forgot to mention earlier.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What is it?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Before I entered the kitchen I heard crying.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Crying?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Yes. I heard crying.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Now that you mention it, I heard crying too!
ATHENA CYKES:    Wait, so the killer was crying!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It might have been the killer or it might have been Rylee before she passed away.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That is an interesting bit of info. Thank you for that.
Heal and her posse then whip Franziska a few more times. Ema Skye then walks in with a stun gun and tases Franziska in the neck.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    AAAAIIIIIEEEEE!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    You too Ema!?
EMA SKYE:    I've been tased too many times.
Press "I looked to see where the figure went to. I then felt a weight being added to my hoodie pocket."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    Do you have any idea where the figure went.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I think they darted to the other side of the kitchen island. I'm imagining they went around the island so they can get behind me to plant the weapon.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    You think that's what happened?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I'm visualizing the scene in my head and that's what makes sense to me.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Did you not hear where they went?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No I really couldn't. I think the killer was able to tread lightly.
Heal and her posse whip Franziska more. Heal then slams an open fist onto her bench. A coffee inexplicably slides into her hand. She takes a drink from it and then throws it at Franziska. Franziska is now drenched in coffee.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... Thank you for that. The court was a little chilly and that warmed me up.
Press "I pulled the placed item out of my pocket and felt it all over. It was a gun."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    Did you suspect it was the gun when you first touched it?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    There was some suspicions in my mind, but I wanted to be sure.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Your fingerprints were all over that gun. It's weird you didn't immediately recognize it as a gun.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    My mind wasn't really working properly at that point. I was stressed out.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    By what?
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    What?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    What was stressing you out?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't know! Just stuff!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok, stuff. Stuff can be very stressful.
Heal and her posse then whip Franziska some more. Ema then walks up with a retractable baton. She hits Franziska in the arm with it.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ow! Seriously!? Someone is hitting people with a stick!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's a retractable baton. According to the prosecutor who uses it: "It's ok as long as you don't hit people in the head."
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Tell him he's wrong!
EMA SKYE:    It's a woman, but can do.
Ema walks away.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    By the way, Angel, I have a crick on my right shoulder blade. Can you get that for me?
Angel whips Franziska.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Thank you for that.
Press "The lights turned on and I saw Phoenix and Rylee on the floor. I told Phoenix it wasn't me, before the rest of the guests came in."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    So... what were you thinking about when that happened?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I guess I just froze up a bit. I was concerned, but when I saw you were alive I knew I had to say something to convince you of my innocent. I couldn't get that many words out. The emotions were running really high.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'm sorry about that.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're the one who deserves sympathy. You were shot.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes, but I'm a-ok!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky won't be!
Heal and her posse whip Franziska some more.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Can't we have a moment!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No. Now Luisa! Beads!
Luisa pulls out some prayer beads.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Luisa has some prayer beads as souvenirs from the brief period she dated Nahyuta Sahdmadhi... Luisa gets around.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    So you're going to throw beads at me? That sounds like it's going to barely-
Luisa throws the beads and it wraps around Franziska's body. Franziska is eventually able to break them off.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Was that uncomfortable for you Zisky?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ha! My old prosecuting outfit was more uncomfortable than that.
           CROSS EXAMINATION ENDS:
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Is there anything else you need Phoenix?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    No, I did not find any contradictions.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I couldn't either, but of course I still think that story is a huge lie.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It's not.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Heal, I know Franziska has done some pretty bad things. Maybe she does deserve to get whipped a lot, but please don't whip her unconscious. She's changed.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    This is surprising behavior from you. From what I heard, you were very passive when it came to Franziska whipping people.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes I was! I admit that! I have changed too!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I won't have Zisky get whipped unconscious on one condition: she beats me in arm wrestling.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're on!
Heal leaps to the front of the witness hand. Franziska and her grab each other's hand and start preparing to arm wrestle.
ATHENA CYKES:    Um, Franziska, how the hell do you think this is going to go!? Heal can dropkick someone across the room and you needed a whip!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I know the chances of me beating her are zero if I don't take up her challenge!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You have spunk! And no chance! 1!..2!...3!
They start arms wrestling. Franziska is clearly trying as hard as she can, but she can't make make Heal's arm budge. Heal is barely even trying, but she's not struggling at all.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ..... You can use both arms.
Franziska uses both arms, but it doesn't help.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Athena brought up something very relevant. Your use of the whip. The true reason you used the whip is that you were useless without it. This was one of the most amusing facts we learned. The use of the whip was honestly a terrible strategy as it relied on your victims complacency. Beautiful things do happen when you victims stood up for themselves. There have been many times the opposing lawyers did the unthinkable and took the whip away from you. Luisa will demonstrate.
Luisa pulls out a remote and presses the button. There are a series of images of Lawyers (and Godot. That will be explained in the next case.) taking the whip away from Franziska. In all the photos Franziska looks distressed, frustrated, and even completely demotivated.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Pretty amusing. One lawyer even brought a cutting board with a guillotine knife so she could slice your whip into tiny pieces. When the whip is taken away, you lose all composure. You have been described as less confident without the whip and have even been known to zone out. It's well know that the key to defeating you is to take away your whip. There have also been many instances where lawyers and witness have hit you back. You have received punches, kicks, thrown objects and more from opposing lawyers. My favorite example of this is from Mrs. Dura!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No! Please don't tell them about Abogada Dura!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    When Zisky was 13, she faced a lawyer named Abogada Dura. Franziska whipped Mrs. Dura during the trial. Dura, who is a mother of 5, wasn't tolerating that behavior. Mrs. Dura proceeded to take away Zisky's whip, laid Zisky over her lap, and spanked her.
An image is shown of Mrs. Dura, who is a middle aged Latina lawyer, spanking a 13 year old Franziska.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky ran away after that happened. You ended up resigning from that trial. Now my family and I don't believe in spanking, but we have to agree that this is really funny. The best part was that this happened again 6 years later.
It shows an image of Mrs. Dura spanking a 19 year old Franziska.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I assumed she wasn't going to spank me that time since I was a grown up.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    From what I heard, you tried to prove you were better than your older brother. This was a laughable goal. Even if you were a competent prosecutor, you were always going to be inferior to him just on the basis that you used a whip and he didn't. The truth is that the whip was a sign of how terrible of a prosecutor you truly were. That's probably why you have a career win rate of 38%.
               MILES EDGEWORTH (IN GALLERY):    38%!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Fine! You got me! I was a terrible prosecutor! I wasn't cut out for the job.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm guessing you must have cheated to pass your bar exam.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... Since my prosecution career is over, I'll admit it. I cheated.
MILES EDGEWORTH (IN GALLERY):    You cheated!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I had my sister secretly help me. I was scared of how my father would react if I failed to pass.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I thought so. You were never a real prodigy. You were simply a fraud.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Yes! You see right through me don't you!? Is that one of your superpowers!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's not. I'm just very observant.
Heal slams Franziska's hands down, winning the arm wrestling contest.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm so observant that I know your secret.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    What secret?
Heal leans forward and whispers something into Franziska's ear. For the first time since she began her testimony, fear comes over Franziska's face.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Wh-wh-wh-what!? D-d-did someone tell you that!? Who told you that!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Nobody. As I said, I'm really observant.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What did you just whisper into her ear!?
Heal leaps behind the prosecution bench.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm not telling you. I want Zisky to tell you. Zisky, how about you tell Phoenix your secret?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ............ You said you were going to whip me unconscious right.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes we did.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    What are you waiting for!? My testimony is over!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska! You don't want to get whipped unconscious! It's a traumatic experience!
Franziska starts looking sad.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ......... Me whipping you unconscious was traumatic for you?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ......... Ummmmmmmm. Maybe traumatic might be a little hyperbolic
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Heal, go ahead and whip me unconscious.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Crap! I made it worse! I-I-I can't let them whip her unconscious!)
Heal is preparing to swing her whip. Phoenix runs from behind the defense bench and grabs Luisa's whip out of her hand. He then runs to the front of the witness stand right when Heal strikes her whip. The sound of a whip is heard as the screen cuts to black. It fades back with Phoenix slowly opens his eyes. He sees that he caught Heal's whip. His face lights up. The gallery boos.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Oh my god! I did it! I caught the whip! I actually caught the whip!
Heal leaps right in front of Phoenix so she's about an inch from Phoenix's face. Phoenix is a bit nervous.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You got in the way of my whip. Did you know you did that?
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Y-y-yes! I did.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You stood aside and let Franziska whip people, why are you interfering on her behalf?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Think Phoenix Think! I don't want Franziska to know I'm smitten with her yet! I need to think of something to say!)    I interfered because... I... agree with you.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Agree with me?
Phoenix looks out to the crowd like he's giving a speech.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'm standing with you against violence in the courtroom! The violence has gone on long enough! I'm stopping this now! I promise I will do whatever it takes to end the violence once and for all!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ......... I can't believe it! An invertebrate just grew a spine.
Heal lets go of her whip and leaps back to her spot.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Phoenix... I think you should let them do it.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    No. I'm not going to!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I need to know what it's like!
Phoenix seems taken aback.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ....... I'm not good at empathy. It's partially due to my upbringing, but I have low empathy autism. It's easier to have empathy if you go through the same pain.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You heard her Phoenix. She wants to know your pain. Give us the whips back.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... No! I'm not giving the whips back! No one is going to get whipped anymore because I have all the whips!
ANGEL STARR:    All the whips? Franziska, that's so embarrassing. You got yourself a lawyer who doesn't know how to count.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Crap! I forgot about her!)
ANGEL STARR:    Time for your nap Franziska.
Phoenix looks like he's about to stop it, but Luisa tackles him.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ANGEL! STOP!!!
Angel whips Franziska unconscious. The gallery cheers. Heal is face palming.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Damn it Angel! I was so close to getting the information I needed from her!
Angel flips her hair to the nice side.
ANGEL STARR:    Relax Heal. It's all good. The crowd loved it! Now can I get a whoop whoop!?
               GALLERY:    Whoop! Whoop!
Phoenix returns to his seat.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Are you ok?
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    ..... I don't know. The worst part is that I can't say with confidence she didn't deserve that.
Heal quickly spins and changes back to her mild mannered form. Luisa stands next to Heal. She'll be acting as her assistant.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now that we got Franziska's story, it's time for everyone else's. All of the guests ran into the kitchen to see what happened right after the murder and saw Zisky holding the gun. Here's one of the guests to tell us what happened.
Camera pans up to reveal Ringmaster Lawrence Curls.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Hello everyone! I'm Lawrence Curls! I'm the Ring Master of Berry's Big Circus, though some of you may know me as my old identity of Moe the Clown.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    No! No! That room was filled with people! Why did you pick him!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Out of all of the witnesses there, he was able to give the most comprehensive account of events.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Many of the other people there were freaking out or leaping into action. I didn't know what to do so I just stood there.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Your eye witness accounts is more than enough help Mr. Curls.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    I can also provide jokes!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Oh boy! I loved your jokes when I was a little girl!
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Thank you! I'll tell you one now! What did the lawyer wear to court? A law suit! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (This is going to be painful. Part of me misses Franziska's whip right now.)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Golly! That's a clever one Mr. Curls!
ATHENA CYKES:    Golly? Oh boy? Heal, you're overdoing it with your meek innocent act.
Heal takes off her glasses and looks coldly towards Athena.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ........... Mr. Curls, will you please start your testimony?
               RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Sure!
           WITNESS TESTIMONY STARTS:
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS: Around 8 PM, the power went out. It wasn't too bad, but then 6 gunshots were heard.
After the power went back on, everyone ran into the kitchen. What we saw was Franziska holding a gun.
Wright and that Rylee woman were on the ground in front of Franziska. Phoenix was alive, but Rylee was definitely dead.
Franziska was tearing up, but she looked like she was almost in a trance.
Phoenix's daughter, the magician, attacked Franziska. The rockstar and another woman pulled her off of Franziska.
Gumshoe arrested Franziska with the help of his wife. Some nurse checked on Phoenix, and it seemed like everyone was freaking out.
           WITNESS TESTIMONY ENDS:
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you for the testimony Mr. Curls!
               RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    You're welcome!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's funny how you use to be a clown because Luisa here use to be a mime.
Lawrence suddenly looks serious.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    ...... How is that funny?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I mean, it's a bit of a coincidence since clowns and mimes are alike.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    No they're not! Clowning requires skill and training! Clowns aren't just some idiot who pretend to be trapped in a box! Us clowns refuse to be associated with their kind!
Heal looks shocked and Luisa looks offended.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ...... Ok then. Mr. Wright it's time for your cross examination.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Athena, did you notice anything off about his testimony?
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    No, I more or less would have said the same thing. Though I was a little distracted holding Trucy back.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    I believe there might be something about the scene that doesn't make complete sense.
           CROSS EXAMINATION STARTS:
Press "After the power went back on, everyone ran into the kitchen. What we saw was Franziska holding a gun."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    I have a question for you?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    I got a question for you too! Why can't a nose be 12 inches long?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    It's because a woman is dead and we're at the trial of her murder!
               RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    ...............
THE JUDGE:    ..... Wow, way to be a buzzkill.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Do you want to ask your question now?
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes I do!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Go right ahead!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    .............    (Damn it! I forgot what my question was!)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ......Mr Wright? Your question.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes! Of course! My question! My question is: ummmmmmmmmmmmm
OPTIONS: Where was Franziska pointing the gun?
How was Franziska holding the gun?
You said everyone went in the room, are you sure about that?
Select "How was Franziska holding the gun?"
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    How was Franziska holding the gun?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    What kind of question is that? She was holding the gun like you would hold a gun.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    You mean she was grasping the handle and her finger was through the trigger?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    ..... Yes? Um Yes! She had her hand on the handle and had her finger on the trigger.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Hmmmmm. Should I have Lawrence add that to his testimony?)
               OPTIONS: Add to Testimony
Don't add to Testimony
Select "Add to Testimony"
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Mr. Curls, I would like you to add that to your testimony.
               RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    ..... Ok?
After the power went back on, everyone ran into the kitchen. Franziska was holding a gun with her hand on the handle and her finger on the trigger.
Present Detective Pistol on "After the power went back on, everyone ran into the kitchen. Franziska Von Karma was holding a gun with her hand on the handle and her finger on the trigger."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    Are you absolutely sure Franziska had her finger on the trigger?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    I mean... I can't really be absolutely sure. That's a tiny detail and there was so much going on. I know for sure that she was holding a gun.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    The truth is that she didn't have her finger on the trigger and she never did. The gun itself proves it! There are no fingerprints on the trigger of the gun! Now Mr. Curls, please think back to the incident. How was Franziska holding the gun?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Hmmmmmmmmm......... Hold on! I remember now. Franziska was holding the gun a bit weird. She was holding the top and bottom in her hand on its side.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    See!? What everyone saw wasn't the aftermath of Franziska using the gun, it was the aftermath of Franziska picking up the gun!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!
Heal lands on the prosecution bench as Justice Woman.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Phoenix, you are jumping to conclusions!
Heal backflips behind the prosecution bench.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    The truth is that fingerprints don't always stick well to guns depending on many factors. Some experts say the chance of finding a fingerprint on a gun's trigger is as low as 5 percent! Just because Zisky's prints weren't found on the trigger, doesn't mean that Zisky never pulled it.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    !!!!! But according to Lawrence, Franziska wasn't holding the gun like a gun!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Good point. By the way Mr. Curls, it's really surprising that you didn't wear your hat for your testimony.
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    I forgot my hat!? No! I can't be seen without my hat!
Lawrence freaks out a bit, but then touches his head. His hat is still there.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    As you see, people can be open to suggestion. The reason Lawrence now remembers Zisky holding the gun differently is that you suggested to him that she was. Mr. Curls probably doesn't remember exactly how Zisky held the weapon. Do you Mr. Curls?
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    Hmmmmmmmmmm..... You're right Heal, I don't remember for sure.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Come on Lawrence! Heal just made you doubt your own memories!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Even if Mr. Curls' memories were accurate, that still doesn't prove your point. Just because she was holding the gun weirdly when the guests came in the room, doesn't mean she was holding it that way at the time of the murder. She could've adjusted the way she was holding the gun after the murder!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ........... I suppose you're right.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I definitely am.
Heal spins and changes into her mild mannered attire.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you so much for your testimony Mr. Curls!
RINGMASTER LAWRENCE CURLS:    You're so welcome! You are so much nicer than the last prosecutor I had to deal with!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you! I'm glad I was able to clear that low bar. Now it's time for us to know the events leading up to the shooting. For that information, I'll call up the last person who talked to Franziska before the shooting: Adrian Andrews.
The camera pans up to reveal Adrian Andrews.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you for agreeing to testify Ms. Andrews.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    You're welcome. I'm not testifying against Franziska, I'm just telling the truth. I believe Franziska is innocent and Phoenix will prove it!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Thank you Adrian.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Very good Adrian. Now you and Franziska have been friends since the Matt Engarde trial?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Yes! She was surprisingly supportive of me. She even showed me how to use her whip!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ........ Really? So you bonded over the whip?
               ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Yes!
Heal takes off her glasses. She looks angry.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Did you imagine you were whipping slaves during this little bonding moment!?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    !!! What!? No! No!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ...... Do you go around whipping people Ms. Andrews?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    N-No! I do not!
Heal puts her glasses back on.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Good. Now would you mind telling us what Ms. Von Karma was doing leading up to the shooting?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Of course! Anything you say!
           WITNESS TESTIMONY STARTS:
ADRIAN ANDREWS: Franziska was holding a gathering where she was meant to apologize to some of the people she's harmed.
At 7, Franziska was meant to make a toast. During the toast, Rylee Kahnvikt ran up and started yelling at her.
Franziska then offered to allow Rylee to beat her up. Rylee accepted the offer and the two went into another room.
Phoenix tried to interfere. Him and Franziska got in an argument about it. After the argument, Franziska walked off to do something else.
A short time later, Franziska came back to the dining hall to grab a snack. I started to talk to her about what happened but Franziska noticed a note at her spot addressed to her.
It seemed like it was from Phoenix. It said he wanted to meet in the kitchen. Franziska immediately left to go talk to Phoenix.
           WITNESS TESTIMONY ENDS:
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you for that Ms. Andrews. Now it's time for your cross examination Mr. Wright.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Sacre blue. That seems to be all information we already know.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    There has to be something! We're not gaining any momentum in this trial and we need to change that!
           CROSS EXAMINATION STARTS:
Press "A short time later, Franziska came back to the dining hall to grab a snack. I started to talk to her about what happened but Franziska noticed a note at her spot addressed to her."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    HOLD IT!    A short time later? Do you happen to know the time you two found the note?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I do actually! I remember checking the time when we found the note. It was 7:34!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Should I have Adrian add that to her testimony?)

ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I can do that.    At 7:34, Franziska came back to the dining hall to grab a snack. I started to talk to her about what happened but Franziska noticed a note at her spot addressed to her.
Present Note from Phoenix at "It seemed like it was from Phoenix. It said he wanted to meet in the kitchen. Franziska immediately left to go talk to Phoenix."
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    Adrian, Franziska was late for our meeting at the kitchen.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Yes, she told me she was late.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    That's a bit weird, because according to you: she had an almost 30 minute head start!
Adrian's glasses shatter. She replaces them.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    The note that told Franziska to meet me at the kitchen at 8. If she "immediately" left to meet me, then she definitely would've been there by the time I got there.
               ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Yes... She would.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Do you know what she was doing between the time she got the note and the murder?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I do..... But I'm not telling you!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Adrian, if you tell us everything then we can help.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I know, but what she was doing during that time isn't relevant to the case.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!    Ms. Andrews, with all due respect:
Heal leaps up and lands as Justice Woman.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You have no damn idea what is or isn't relevant to this case.
Adrian is shocked and blushing.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Oh wow! If you were prosecuting the Matt Engarde trial, I definitely would've gotten emotionally co dependent on you!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm aware that I'm hot. There are definitely many men who find my physical appearance desirable, but most of the time it seems that I'm desirable to Queer women.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Oh yeah! You definitely are!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now, would you like to tell us about Franziska's whereabouts?
Heal flexes. Adrian's glasses shatter and she replaces them.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I-I-I can't tell you. It's related to something about Franziska that is very private.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I think I know what you're talking about. Now tell us.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I-I can't. Franziska is my friend!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You can and you will. From what I can tell you're what some would call: a lesbian disaster. You're not going to resist this!
Heal flexes. Adrian's glasses shatter and she replaces them.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Adrian! Don't look directly at her perfectly toned stomach!
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    You're asking a lot out of me!!!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    What was Franziska up to, Adrian?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I-It's private! What she was doing isn't helpful to Phoenix or you!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    On the contrary, I think I know what her secret is and it's very relevant to my case.
               ADRIAN ANDREWS:    ???
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now I heard that you and Franziska briefly dated.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    You did?
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Yes we did. It was only for a few weeks.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I heard you broke up with her.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I did. I felt like it would be better if we just stayed friends.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I don't think that's the only reason. I think you realized Franziska was using you as a surrogate.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Wh-what? I-I don't know what you're talking about.
Heal flexes. Adrian's glasses shatter and she replaces them.
               ADRIAN ANDREWS:    This is torture!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now give us the information we need!
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I-I know I have the right to refuse testimony!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes, but do you have the capacity
Heal flexes
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    To refuse
Heal flexes
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    These abs?
Heal flexes. Adrian's glasses shatter and she replaces them.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    I-I-I won't betray Franziska.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You're stronger than I assumed. I guess we'll have to double our efforts. Pun fully intended! Luisa!
Luisa pulls open her blouse to reveal her cleavage which is covered by a lacy bra. Adrian's glasses shatter. Adrian picks up new glasses to replace them, but her hand is trembling. Adrian then throws her glasses to the side. She now has a determined look on her face.
ADRIAN ANDREWS:    No! Franziska trusts me and I will not betray her! I refuse to testify!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok, that's fine.
Heal flips behind the prosecution bench and the spins reverting back to her mild mannered attire. Luisa buttons up her blouse.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's better if we got the information from a first hand source anyway. Ema texted me telling me that Zisky has regained consciousness. Let's bring her back. You're dismissed Ms. Andrews.
               ADRIAN ANDREWS:    Ok.
Adrian starts walking off, still not wearing her glasses.
THE JUDGE:    Adrian! Watch where you're going! You're about to walking into the
A crashing sound is heard.
               THE JUDGE:    ........ Hmmmmmm.
The camera pans up to reveal Franziska Von Karma. She looks sad.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska, are you ok?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... So that's what I did to you.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... Yes, but it's ok now. I forgave you! Remember?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... I don't know if I can forgive myself. You didn't deserve that. You were just defending your friend. And you!
Franziska angrily points to the Judge. He seems a bit confused.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You let me get away with it! You allowed me to beat a good man unconscious with absolutely no consequences!
THE JUDGE:    Oh no. Ummmm! Ummmmmm!
Heal lands on the Judge's desk as Justice Woman.
               THE JUDGE:    AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Stop screaming.
The Judge obeys her.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So it was you?
               THE JUDGE:    Y-Y-yes!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky asked a legitimate question. Why didn't you punish her for assaulting the opposing attorney in retaliation?
THE JUDGE:    I don't know! I guess I just didn't want to get whipped!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So you're a coward.
               THE JUDGE:    Yes!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You should be ashamed of yourself.
THE JUDGE:    I am! I'm a very shameful person!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Are you actually ashamed or are you just trying to please me? I think you realize that Zisky was the frying pan and I am the fire.
               THE JUDGE:    I'm legitimately ashamed!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ....... I'll deal with you later.
Heal leaps back to the prosecution bench. She lands in the mild mannered attire.
               THE JUDGE:    ....... Ok!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now Zisky, your friend Adrian refused to tell us about what you were doing right before the murder. I wish for you to testify about the event leading up to the shooting.
Luisa is holding a bat with nail in it while Heal is talking. Heal looks over.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Luisa, no. We're done with the violence.
Luisa sheepishly puts away the bat.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ok, I can provide more testimony.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    I wonder what Franziska and Adrian could be hiding? Franziska already confessed to using falsified evidence, I don't know what could be worse than that.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    I don't know. Maybe it's the same secret that Heal whispered in her ear earlier. I have a feeling we should probably know the secret too.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Yes. We'll have to get Franziska comfortable with sharing it first. Want me to do my thing?
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Yes, do your thing.
Athena activates widget and screens pop up.
ATHENA CYKES:    Franziska, I think it's time for you and I to have a therapy session!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Therapy session? Like right here? In front of everyone?
               ATHENA CYKES:    Yes!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That's not a therapy session! Therapy sessions are meant to be private! This is more akin to one of those daytime talk shows!!!
ATHENA CYKES:    ........ I'm just going to use my Mood Matrix on you Franziska! Geez!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I heard about your Mood Matrix! I think knowing Franziska's emotional state will help immensely. I support this "therapy session".
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't know if I'm comfortable with this emotional read.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    It will be fine Franziska. Athena knows what she's doing.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ...... Ok, I'll trust you.
           MOOD MATRIX:
FRANZISKA VON KARMA: At the party, I allowed Rylee Kahnvikt to beat me up in retaliation for convicting her with falsified evidence. (Intense Sadness, Mild Fear)
Phoenix was opposed to the beating. He and I ended up arguing over it. (Intense Sadness, Mild Anger, Mild Happiness)
After our argument, I went for a walk to cool down. (Mild Anger, Intense Sadness)
After my walk, I went to the dining hall where I found Adrian and a note that appeared to be from Phoenix. (Intense Happiness)
The note was apologetic and reassuring. It asked for me to meet privately with Phoenix in the kitchen at 8. (Intense Happiness, Intense Fear)
After that, I went to go cool down until the meeting. (Mild Happiness, Intense Fear)
ATHENA CYKES:    (I'm getting some interesting readings from Franziska. Now I'll just need to find an emotion that doesn't make sense.)
Note: If you select any of the emotions on "Phoenix was opposed to the beating. He and I ended up arguing over it. (Intense Sadness, Mild Fear, Mild Happiness)", Franziska will just explain the emotion and there will be no setback or penalty.
Select "Fear" on "The note was apologetic and reassuring. It asked for me to meet privately with Phoenix in the kitchen at 8. (Intense Happiness, Intense Fear)"
ATHENA CYKES:    Take that!    When you talk about the note about the meeting I detect a lot of happiness, but also a lot of fear. Why are you afraid of the meeting?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I wasn't afraid of the meeting!
               ATHENA CYKES:    I'm detecting fear.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Why would you be afraid of meeting with me? Are you afraid I will hurt you?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ....... Don't take it personally Phoenix, I'm wary of men in general, even ones I know won't hurt me.
THE JUDGE:    You're scared of men!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Not full on afraid, but I am alert around them.
THE JUDGE:    How can that be!? You were whipping men all the time!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I had a whip back then. The whip made me less wary of men.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'm not offended. I understand why you're wary of men.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Would you please add that to your testimony Zisky?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ok.    I'm wary of men in general, even ones with I know won't hurt me like Phoenix. (Mild Fear)
ATHENA CYKES:    (Hmmmm. I'm detecting fear from her still. I don't think I can contradict the new information, but there's another part of her testimony that doesn't make sense now.)
Select "Fear" on "Phoenix was opposed to the beating. He and I ended up arguing over it. (Intense Sadness, Mild Anger, Mild Happiness)"
ATHENA CYKES:    Take that!    On the part where you talk about Phoenix and you arguing, you have a lot of different emotions.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:  It was a very emotional moment.
ATHENA CYKES:    I detect sadness, anger, and even happiness.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I was sad because I didn't want to argue with my friend. I was angry because I didn't want to control me. I was happy because he said he cared about me. It made me happy that he was my friend now.
ATHENA CYKES:    Those all make sense. You seem to have felt every emotion on my Mood Matrix with the exception of one: Fear! You weren't afraid of Phoenix during that argument?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Why would I be afraid of him? I know he isn't going to hurt me.
Athena gives out a smile. Franziska pauses for a second and then freaks out. She starts sweating nervously.
ATHENA CYKES:    You just realized your mistake. It's a bit weird that you would be afraid of Phoenix during a private conversation, but not during an argument.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I thought you were suppose to be on my side!
ATHENA CYKES:    I am. Finding the truth will help you!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You don't need to find all the truth! Why I was afraid is none of your business!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It is our business and you know it.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Athena Cykes! Please stop!
Franziska's mood on the matrix is consumed by fear.
ATHENA CYKES:    (Franziska is terrified of me revealing what she is hiding. It must be really bad. I still need to find the truth regardless. Now what about meeting Phoenix could be terrifying Franziska?)
A picture comes up of Franziska and Phoenix talking in the kitchen. There's a clock in the background, and their words are represented by word balloons. Select the word balloons.
ATHENA CYKES:    The conversation itself is what terrified Franziska.
THE JUDGE:    A conversation scared her? Why would that be?
ATHENA CYKES:    (I need to think. Why would Franziska be terrified yet happy to have a conversation with Phoenix?)
OPTIONS: Phoenix has dirt on her.
Phoenix might be mean to her.
She's in love with Phoenix.
Select "She's in love with Phoenix"
               ATHENA CYKES:    Take that!
Athena has a big smile.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't like that look on your face.
ATHENA CYKES:    I know your secret.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    N-N-No you don't!
ATHENA CYKES:    You're in love with Phoenix!
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    !!!!!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    WHAT!?
               THE JUDGE:    WHAT!?
               GALLERY:    WHAT!?
THE JUDGE:    That is utterly absurd!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I'm so sorry! I didn't know she was going to say that!
THE JUDGE:    You need to get your team under control.
The Judge gives defense a penalty.
ATHENA CYKES:    B-B-But I was onto something.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!!!
Heal lands on The Judge's desk as Justice Woman.
               THE JUDGE:    Jesus Christ!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I don't like your behavior right now.
THE JUDGE:    What did I do!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You didn't even let Athena explain herself. You just dismissed what she was saying and gave her a penalty.
THE JUDGE:    But what she just said is absurd!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I disagree. I've been thinking that Zisky has romantic feeling for Phoenix since yesterday and I've been trying to prove it since!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wh-wh-what!? How did you come to that conclusion!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    During our interrogation, Zisky's body language showed signs of attractions towards you. Whenever you were brought up she would have sweaty palms and dilated pupils. She would look away and sometimes twirl her hair. Her voice would change pitch when talking about you. All of which are signs of attractions.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    That's not signs of attractions, that's just how she is now! She did all that stuff at the party and in the detention center.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You mean when she was spending time with you?
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ........... Yes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I also want to bring attention to earlier in this trial. Remember when I whispered in Franziska's ear about her secret and she freaked out?
               THE JUDGE:    Yes.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I whispered in her ear that she was in love with Phoenix Wright.
THE JUDGE:    You did?.... Hmmmmmm. Interesting.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Now your honor, rescind your penalty and let Athena Cykes talk!
               THE JUDGE:    Ok, I will.
The penalty is rescinded. Heal leaps back behind the Prosecution Bench, but she does it as Justice Woman.
               ATHENA CYKES:    Thank you Heal.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No. I want to thank you. Now please continue.
               ATHENA CYKES:    Okie dokie!
Franziska is freaking out.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    This isn't happening! This can't be happening!
ATHENA CYKES:    Now I believe that the reason that Franziska was really happy, but really scared to meet Phoenix privately was that she has romantic feelings for him. The note that Franziska believed was from Phoenix said: “ There’s been something I’ve been meaning to tell you for years and I feel like tonight is the night I should finally tell you.” Now imagine you got a note from someone you had a crush on, and they mentioned wanting to tell you something they've been meaning to tell you for years. What would you think your honor?
THE JUDGE:    I think that maybe they like me back.
ATHENA CYKES:    Yes, and how would that make you feel?
THE JUDGE:    I would be excited.
ATHENA CYKES:    Of course you would, but would that be the only emotion you feel?
THE JUDGE:    .... No, I would also be nervous. What if I'm jumping to conclusions!? What if I say something that messes things up!? Am I ready to move forward with this!? I'm just so caught off guard! What if I make her hate me!? WHAT IF MARIA DOESN'T LOVE ME BACK!?!?!?
               ATHENA CYKES:    Your honor!!!
THE JUDGE:    Sorry, I was just having a flashback. I guess you can say I would be a bit worried.
ATHENA CYKES:    In other words, you'll be very happy, but also very afraid. The exact emotions Franziska felt when she received the note from Phoenix.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I have additional evidence to support Athena's claim. I present the Heart Rate Chart! As a reminder, during the test I showed Zisky pictures of people and asked to think about them and how they make her feel. I had her heart rate monitored while this test was run. Her heart rate increased significantly when shown pictures of Phoenix. For those unaware, a person's heart rate increases when looking at or thinking about someone they're attracted to.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That's why you did that test!?
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wait, are you two saying that she got a little smitten with me at the party?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    No, I'm going to be bold and claim that Zisky liked you for a long time.
ATHENA CYKES:    I have to agree. These are pretty strong emotions for a recent crush.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Then you're both wrong! Franziska hated me before the party!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    How can you be sure of that?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    How can I be sure of that!? She called me foolish fool all the time! She whipped me even when I wasn't doing anything! She was overall very hostile towards me!
Heal and Athena start laughing.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What are you two laughing about?
ATHENA CYKES:    Phoenix, girls can be weird. Sometimes when we get a crush, we don't know how to handle it, so we bully our crush.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's not just a girl thing, but what Athena says is true. I never done that, but some of my old band mates have.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    You're saying she was mean to me because she liked me!? She was mean to everyone!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    But it sounds like she targeted you.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Of course she targeted me! I sent her father to prison!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Which probably made it really confusing to her when she started developing feelings for you.
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    OBJECTION!
Miles Edgeworth is now at the Witness Stand area.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I'm sorry, but I have to interfere! Franziska does not hold romantic feelings for Phoenix!
THE JUDGE:    Edgeworth, I need you to go back to your seat.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Let him stay. I don't mind. So Edgeworth, are you certain?
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I am. I was around Franziska during the end of their rivalry and she didn't seem romantically interested in Phoenix at all!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok. I have a question for you then: if she was smitten with Phoenix, would she have admitted it?
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    Well.... Ummmm.... No.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes. Given the circumstances and Franziska's purported personality at the time, it makes sense for her to respond to her feelings with increased hostility.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Ok.... Well I still think you're wrong! Franziska had no interest in romance. I can call other people who knew her at the time and they'll tell you.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Go ahead.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Gumshoe! Maya! Come down here!
Gumshoe and Maya come down.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Franziska definitely hated Phoenix, right?
MAYA FEY:    Yeah, it seemed like she hated Nick.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    She definitely hated Phoenix. She was constantly complaining about him.
               ATHENA CYKES:    Like constantly?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Yeah. She would always talk about how much she despised Wright. Even when the conversation was about something else, she would bring him up just to complain about him.
ATHENA CYKES:    So in other words, she was constantly talking and thinking about him.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Well... I guess you can say that.
ATHENA CYKES:    Shot in the dark: did she have a picture of him?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Oh yeah she did!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    What!?
Maya starts smiling.
MAYA FEY:    Really? She had a picture?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Yup! She said she kept it to remind her of her quest to best Wright in court. I would catch her constantly looking at it! She was really determined.
MAYA FEY:    ..... Ok, I'm on team "she definitely had a crush of Nick" now.
ATHENA CYKES:    I don't think you should be using past tense Maya.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That reminds me! I have one more piece of evidence to present that proves Zisky's infatuation! It's the evidence I lost earlier.
ATHENA CYKES:    Oh, the evidence you "lost".
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I did legitimately forgot where I put the evidence, but I remembered during Mr. Curl's testimony. I was going to present it then, but then I remembered that you two felt it was ok to hold on to those notes until they were relevant to your case, so I thought you two would be ok with this. I found this piece of evidence in Zisky's night stand drawer.
               THE JUDGE:    Oooooooh!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It's not what you think.
               THE JUDGE:    Awwwwwwww!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    In Zisky's night stand drawer we found a card.
Heal pulls out a playing card, we see the back of the card which is red.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    This card right here is a very special type of card. It's the calling card of the international assassin known as Shelly De Killer.
THE JUDGE:    Are you saying Franziska hired De Killer!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Seeing as she was shot by him, I consider that unlikely. It's probably a souvenir from the Matt Engarde trial. Funnily enough, the fact that this is the calling card of an international assassin is actually completely irrelevant. What's relevant is what's on the card.
Heal turns the card around. There's a drawing of Phoenix Wright with the name "Nick" underneath it.
Note: Yes, this is the fourth piece of evidence from Farewell my Turnabout.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Zisky drew a picture of her crush. She even gave him a nickname: Nick.
               MAYA FEY:    Wait... Hold on.
Maya walks over to the Prosecution Bench and looks at the card.
MAYA FEY:    Franziska didn't draw that.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    She didn't? How do you know?
MAYA FEY:    I know because I drew that! When I was being held hostage by De Killer I drew a picture of Nick because I missed my best friend!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    I remember that! That was one of the 4 pieces of evidence I was suppose to bring to court; unfortunately, I got in a car accident so Franziska brought the evidence to court for me!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    She only ended up bringing 3 pieces of evidence to court. I guess that must be the fourth piece.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So you are all saying that this card looked like this since the Matt Engarde trial and Zisky kept the card? I thought this was only supporting evidence, but this actually flat out proves Zisky's secret adoration for Wright.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ummmmm, Franziska? Why did you keep that card?
Two pink and light orange psyche locks appear above Franziska.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Well... Ummmm.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (It's those Psyche Locks again! But there's only two of them now!)
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It was a mistake. Richard Gumshoe left the card in his jacket pocket. I was unaware of the evidence. When I found it, I thought to myself that I would return the card to him the next time I saw him.
MAYA FEY:    Why didn't you give it to us at Hakazura Temple?
              FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I forgot.
MAYA FEY:    That's fine. It happens to all of us.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I remember now, Gumshoe left the evidence in his jacket pocket.
               RICHARD GUMSHOE:    ...... No I didn't.
One of Franziska's psyche locks breaks. She starts freaking out.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    YES YOU DID! YOU LEFT IT IN YOUR JACKET POCKET!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    No, I'm pretty sure I didn't. I was making a conscious effort at the time to stop putting evidence in my jacket pockets because I kept forgetting they were in there.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    YOU MUST'VE HAVE FORGOTTEN TO DO THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE SUCH A FOOL!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    No, I'm pretty sure I didn't. I remember the car crash clearly. I had the card in a cup holder. I remember even calling you back and handing the card to you.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    YOU DON'T REMEMBER! YOU FOOLISH FOOL FOOLING AROUND
               ?????:    Objection!
Charlotte shows up. She's wearing a shirt with torn edges, a necklace that is tucked under the shirt, and shorts. She is carrying a backpack and is barefoot (She has flip flops tied to her backpack, so she does wear shoes, she's just not wearing them right now.)
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Charlotte!
Franziska embraces Charlotte and holds her tight. Charlotte hugs her back. Edgeworth seems annoyed.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Oh great. She's back.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I miss you so much! I'm so sorry I took you for granted!
Franziska starts kissing the side of Charlotte's head. Charlotte tears up slightly.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I missed you too Franziska. I don't remember the last time you were this affectionate.
               THE JUDGE:    Who's this?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Well seeing as Franziska yelled "Charlotte" before embracing me, it's probably a good guess that I'm Charlotte.
THE JUDGE:    Ok, but who are you?
MILES EDGEWORTH:    She's Manfred's oldest daughter. She's also a very irritating person.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    How you doing Manfred Jr.?
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I told you not to call me that!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I'm calling you that as long as it's accurate.
Heal has a big smile on her face.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So you are Manfred Von Karma's daughter after all?
Charlotte side eyes Heal.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    ....... Yes I am.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I know who you are.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    ....... Yes you do. I'm Charlotte.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Don't worry. I'm telling anyone.
               CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    ..........
THE JUDGE:    Wait, you're suppose to be Manfred's daughter? Why are you French?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Why are any of us French really?
THE JUDGE:    It seems you didn't get any of the Von Karma money.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    No, she's financially well off. This is her poverty costume. She's too good to dress properly for the courtroom.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Don't be hating on me just because I'm not dressed like the Funky Phantom.
THE JUDGE:    I would at least appreciate it if you put on shoes.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Really? So my bare feet offend you more than Franziska whipping people?
THE JUDGE:    ...... Ok. Decent call out.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Hiya Gumshoe, what's up?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Not much. Just running my store.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Was that a price scanner yesterday?
               RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Yup.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Ha! I realized that after I ran off. I guess I didn't want to get shot because of a prank.
ATHENA CYKES:    Most pranks don't involve knives!
Charlotte pulls out her knife.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    You mean this knife?
               ATHENA CYKES:    Yes!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Oh I feel so bad about scaring you with this knife. I have to punish myself.
Charlotte stabs herself in the neck. Everyone freaks out. Charlotte then pulls the knife back while laughing. It's a retractable prop knife.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
ATHENA CYKES:    Your jokes aren't funny!!!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That knife was fake all along?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I wouldn't brandish a real knife at you sweetie. Now that we've gotten introductions out of the way, let's get down to the important part.
Charlotte puts down her backpack.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I would like to apologize for my baby sister, she can be quite feral.
THE JUDGE:    We're well aware of that.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    It seems my sister has gotten a lot better though. You do seem to be relapsing a bit Franziska.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I'm just upset. This fool doesn't remember which shoe goes on which foot, but he claims to remember something that happened over ten years ago!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Hey! The car crash was traumatizing for me so I remember everything about it!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Franziska, he's not misremembering things. Is he?
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ...........
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Are you still in denial?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No. I've accepted my feelings.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ?????
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Then come on Franziska! This secret is older than you were when you started prosecuting!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Not now! I want to wait til after the trial! Not in front of everyone!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    That will be ideal, but it's pretty clear that's not an option anymore.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    .........
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    You want me to tell them?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ...... Go ahead.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Ok. The truth is Franziska
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    YES! IT'S TRUE! I'M IN LOVE WITH PHOENIX WRIGHT! AAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!
The last psyche lock breaks. Franziska tries to slam her head on the witness stand, but Charlotte grabs her head before she can slam it!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Charlotte! Let go! I'm trying to slam my head down!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I know! I'm not letting you do that.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It will be fine! I have a high tolerance for pain!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    That doesn't mean your body has a high tolerance for damage!
Charlotte practically puts Franziska in a headlock with one arm as she grabs a stress ball out of her backpack.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Here! Squeeze this!
Franziska starts aggressively squeezing the stress ball. Charlotte lets go of her. She gets out a bottle of chocolate milk.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I also brought you Chocolate milk Franziska.
She opens the bottle up and puts a straw in it. She gives it to Franziska who starts drinking from it. Franziska looks defeated.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    You're putting a straw in a bottle?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Franziska spills sometimes.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    This whole experience has been image shattering.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Hey Franziska! Look at your crush!
Phoenix has his mouth agape. He's frozen in shock.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ........... Y-Y-you're in love with me!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ......... I don't know if "in love" is the appropriate term, but yes.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    L-l-like back then!?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Franziska had a crush on you almost immediately. I remember when she was having her first trial against you. I visited her and she called you a genius. You should've seen the look on her face! It was really funny that Franziska got a crush on the man she was wanted to defeat, but it was also exciting. My baby sister got her first crush!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I-I-I-I-I'm going to need an explanation!
THE JUDGE:    We all need an explanation.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I'll give you one. It will just take me a second...... I never felt worthy of the Von Karma name. I always knew I wasn't a genius like my father or Edgeworth or Charlotte, but I always thought if I worked hard enough I could prove myself worthy. My father's arrest and subsequent death felt weird to me. I wasn't really sad, I felt slightly relieved.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Before anyone dares judge Franziska for that, you should know my father was very cruel towards Franziska! He abused her both physically and mentally. Papa also killed a man over something as small as a penalty in court! He got what was coming to him and doesn't deserve a single tear!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Thank you Charlotte. With Phoenix I saw an opportunity. He not only defeated my father, he also defeated Miles. I felt that if I bested Phoenix, then I will finally be proven worthy of the Von Karma name and be proven superior to Edgeworth. I didn't want to rush into battle though. Before I faced him, I attended a couple of his court cases in disguise. What I saw was confounding, but fascinating. He worked like no attorney I ever seen before. His style was erratic and unfocused, but punctual. His genius was unique, and his work was... well exciting. I never felt so excited in a courtroom as I did watching him do his work. I would additionally watch him work with his clients and companions. He showed them a genuine kindness and compassion. I found myself fascinated by his work, but also by him. I started feeling... funny. I had this weird feeling in my stomach, I was shaking, and my heart was racing when thinking about. It took me awhile to find out what was going on, but with Charlotte's help I realized what was going on. I was getting a crush. I finally had a crush like a regular girl, and it's on him!!! Why the hell is it on him!? He's suppose to be my enemy! I took this as a sign that I was not worthy of the Von Karma name.
THE JUDGE:    This was all before you faced him in court!? So you already were getting a crush on him when you whipped him unconscious!?
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Yes.
THE JUDGE:    You really are weird.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I am. I was in denial. I fought against my feelings as much as I could. I kept telling myself that the dreams of us together were actually nightmares, and that I must defeat him. My father chose glory prosecutor over love so I must follow in his foot steps. Despite pursuing Phoenix, I did try to push him away too. Now I wasn't mean to him because I liked him, I was mean to him because I was a mean person; however, my desire for him probably made me more aggressive towards him than I would've been otherwise. I hated him for making those feelings. When I started actually interacting with him, my feelings grew. I started noticing that he displayed himself with bravado, but it's clear it was just a mask to hide his insecurity. Just like me. The difference was that under his mask, he was still a happy caring person. Under my mask is a sad little girl. He could take off his mask outside of court, I never could take off my mask. Normally I felt like I was able to create a good barrier between us. He reacted to my boorish behavior as one would expect, but then occasionally he would show me unexpected kindness. Like when I was in the hospital, he brought tulips, which are symbols of perfect love!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (I didn't know that's what tulips meant! I always knew my ignorance about flowers would someday:.... Really benefit me.)
Phoenix stops being shocked and starts smiling.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (When I get past the shock, this is amazing!)
Phoenix starts leaning over the desk.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (So Franziska, I was your forbidden love? Do go on.)
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I will admit that Richard Gumshoe's memories are accurate. I intentionally kept the card. I just wanted it. I told myself I was going to give it back to him, but I never could. It came to represent my secret infatuations for him. After the Matt Engarde trial, I tried quit prosecuting, but I wasn't allowed to.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ???
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I decided to focus my efforts on getting a rematch with Phoenix. I went back to Germany for a minute, but I immediately returned here. I decided to return to watching his trials in disguise. I was continuing to study him so I can be prepared our rematch. At least that's what I was telling myself. Deep down I wanted to see him and I enjoyed watching him in court. Of course my desire to have him grew. Eventually I came back for a rematch against him in the trial of Iris. Unfortunately, he was indisposed since he ran on a burning bridge to save Maya. What a good man, he ran on a bridge to save a girl he wasn't even romantically involved with.
MAYA FEY:    Yeah, the platonic bond Nick and I have is stronger than many people's romantic bonds.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It definitely seems so. During that trial I actually spent the day investigating with him. I was practically following him. I did enjoy spending time with him, but I imagine it was less enjoyable for him. I kept my walls up and my whip at the ready. I was thinking during that time; "what if I stole a kiss? How would he react?" I wanted to let my guard down around him, but I couldn't bring up the strength to do so.
ATHENA CYKES:    It's probably complicated to have romantic feelings for someone who sent your father to jail.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That wasn't the issue actually. It was more about optics. I was meant to present myself as a ruthless megalomaniac. As someone who is above all others. Phoenix on the other hand was seen as a bit of a joke. Besting my father twice didn't really elevate Phoenix as much as one would think. He ended a legendary 40 year undefeated streak, but many chose to instead focus on the fact that he had strange hair and cross examined a parrot. I couldn't present myself as a superior queen while being openly affectionate towards Lawyer Doolittle. I did not invent that nickname by the way, I heard it around during my rivalry with Phoenix.
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    I think I was the one who spread that nickname. Sorry Pal.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It didn't help that I could never beat Phoenix. I feared that a relationship with him could be seen as me submitting to him, so I hid my feelings even from myself. After that trial, I decided to distance myself from him. The weird complex feelings he gave me were too much! I went on some of my own adventures while working with Interpol. I then heard of Phoenix's disbarment. I felt many emotions. I was angry because my opportunity for my rematch was stolen from me! I felt anguish too, because how dare someone do that to Phoenix. I decided that the prosecutor who got him disbarred must be to blame; thus, I went to find Klavier Gavin, the prosecutor who got Phoenix disbarred. I proceeded to yell at Klavier Gavin, whip him to unconsciousness, and smash all his guitars.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Is it bad that I'm flattered by that?)
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    After that, I tried my best to forget Phoenix. I think for the most part I was able to. Sometimes I would hear about him and I would hear that he's still single. Why the hell was he still single!? Was he waiting for me!? I just never understood how no one else ever desired him like I did. The cruel aspect of my feelings for him was that I never felt that way about anyone else. Not before I met him and not since. I did bury my feelings deep within my brain as I stayed away form him. As we're all aware, Phoenix did eventually get his badge back. By that time I was already retired from prosecuting, but officially I was only on a sabbatical. I decided I should finally have that rematch with Phoenix to clear up that loose end and then officially retire. I didn't want to rush in though, so I went to watch Phoenix's first case back. All those latent feelings resurfaced and I was as infatuated with Phoenix as I was the last time I saw him.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Wait, so watching Phoenix defend an Orca and defeat a rapper made you fall back in love with him!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Oh yes. Yes it did.
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    ..... Ok! Ok!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    After my feelings resurfaced, I decided to discuss my feelings with my therapist. Eventually I was kill my denial and realize my true desire. I didn't actually want a rematch; What I truly wanted was to be the girlfriend of Phoenix Wright!
ATHENA CYKES:    So if you came to accept your feelings after the Orla Shipley trial, then why didn't you come find Phoenix? That happened years ago.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Why would he be with me? I was so mean to him. Even if I got him to forgive me, would ever love me? He makes so many people's lives better and I make so many people's lives worse. Adrian, Kay, my therapists, and those in my therapy group did tell me that I shouldn't count myself out. They told me I should let him know I'm sorry, put my guard down, let him get to know me and then I could confess my feelings. That brings us to the gathering.
MAYA FEY:    Does that mean that whole party was for Nick?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No, it was legitimate. I did want to apologize to the ones I've harmed; however, wanting to spend time with Phoenix and allow him to get to know me was a side objective. It seemed to have work, we're friends now and I'm now more in more in love with him than ever before. When I received the note I thought was from him, it was alarming. I went into my childhood bedroom and turned off the lights so I could calm down. I was spending time there calming myself down until I heard the gunshots.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So now the question of what Zisky was doing for those 30 minutes has been answered.
Franziska starts crying.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Yes! Now everyone knows! The fearsome heartless ruthless Franziska von Karma is just a pathetic little girl that fell for the one man she couldn't have and never truly got over it!
Franziska starts crying over her bench. Charlotte rubs her back in a comforting manner.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Well I got some goods news for you: I like you back.... I just need to say that I like her back and she will be happy... Come on Phoenix! Say that you like her back!... Damn it! I'm frozen again!)
ATHENA CYKES:    I know this might be hard for you, but doesn't it make you feel so much better now that you got it all out?
Franziska lifts up her head. She now has a condescending look on her face.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're Athena Cykes right?
               ATHENA CYKES:    Ummm. Yes.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Athena Cykes, the one who can read emotions. Athena Cykes, the protege of Phoenix Wright.
ATHENA CYKES:    Yeah that's me. We've been interacting the last two days.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I know, I just wanted to be sure.
               ATHENA CYKES:    Ok?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ....... Athena Cykes.
               ATHENA CYKES:    ... Yes?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!
ATHENA CYKES:    Woah there! I know this might be a little embarrassing, but now you finally let it all out. Besides, there might be some good news coming your way.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I was going to tell Phoenix after the trial! When we were alone! Not in front of everyone! What just happened was literally a recurring nightmare for me! The only difference is that it was my father who was prosecuting me and it was Edgeworth who exposed me!
Franziska resumes crying over her bench.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Franziska did say she going to tell me the story of our rivalry from her perspective after the trial. She really was going to confess her feelings after the trial!)
THE JUDGE:    You know this was the second time I've seen one of Wright's clients declare their love for him in the middle of the courtroom. This is definitely the weirder of the two confessions.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thank you for your confession Franziska. I hope you don't mind answering one more question.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't care anymore! Just ask whatever the hell you like!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok. This probably isn't important, but there was something you said during your confession that bugged me. I didn't bring it up at the time because I didn't want to interrupt you. You said that you tried to quit prosecuting, but you weren't "allowed to". At that point, your father was already slain in prison so who wasn't allowing you to leave?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Edgeworth. He told me that he would abandon me if I quit prosecuting.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    WHAT!?
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    Ummmmmmmm!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Yeah, let's talk about this.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I don't think we have to.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    No, I think Heal is curious.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I would really like to know.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    After Matt Engarde was convicted, I saw Phoenix and Edgeworth being happy. I was confused about why Phoenix was happy. Matt Engarde was his client and he suffered his first loss. I aggressively voiced my confusion. Instead of telling me that Phoenix was happy because Maya was kidnapped and we just rescued her, they were instead like "You don't understand", "How could you not understand?".
THE JUDGE:    Wow, what condescending jerks.
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    !!!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    To be fair to Phoenix, I was being very mean to him and whipping him. I understand why he would react that way. At that point I was already considering quitting prosecuting for awhile, and their condescending behavior was the little push I needed to finally muster up the strength to throw my whip down and quit prosecuting. I was going to go fly home to Germany after that, but Miles caught me at the airport. I told him that resented him for years because he always walked ahead, always left me behind. I felt abandoned by him. I even implied to him that he was the whole reason I came after Phoenix, even though that wasn't entirely true. He then told me that I had no choice, but to be a prosecutor. He then kept trying to push his new philosophy on me. He ended his speech by saying that he would abandon me if I quit prosecuting. At that point my mask finally slipped, I bursted out crying. I continued to be a prosecutor because I was afraid of losing him.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ......... That's emotional abuse!
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    WH-WH-WH-WHAT!?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I don't know if I would go that far, but it's definitely awful controlling behavior!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Woah! Woah! Woah! Franziska is misrepresenting that event! First of all, I never said that she had no choice, but to be a prosecutor. I said "She's a prosecutor, always has been always will be."
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Oh yeah, my father forced her to start prosecuting when she was 13. That's totally healthy. It's so wonderful that you gladly accepted the torch my father passed to you when it came to controlling and hurting Franziska.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Well I never threatened to abandon her! I told her that if she quits then this will be where we part ways.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So in other words, you threatened to abandon her.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    She was going to quit prosecuting and I was there trying to stop her.
EMA SKYE:    Oh thank god you were there. That stupid woman was about to make her own decisions in life.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    This wasn't a gender thing! I would've done the same thing if Franziska was a man!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You are such a hypocrite. In your book you go on and on about how terrible it was that Zisky took advantage of Adrian Andrews' emotional co depedency, but then you do the same thing to her!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    No, what Manfred Jr. did was worse! Franziska had Adrian change her story and plead the fifth, Edgeworth controlled what Franziska did with her entire life!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I-I-I didn't realize what I saying. I did not know that my words could be interpreted that way.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I use to believe that, you are that socially inept; however, then I read your awful book. In most of your book you go into so much detail about everything. Too much detail. You were typically very honest in your book, which is the only faint praise I could give it. Then we get to the section with you forcing Franziska to continue prosecuting. You are as vague as possible and you lie about what happens.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You're absolutely right! I always found that section of the book to be weird and that's why!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I didn't remember what happened.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Really? Because you were able to remember perfectly how it went a second ago.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    !!!!! She needed to learn the true meaning of prosecuting! She never would've learned the true meaning of prosecuting if she left!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    If she's not a prosecutor anymore then the "true meaning of prosecuting" is irrelevant to her.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    But she was going to quit prosecuting just because she wasn't perfect! She had the wrong idea about prosecuting!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I agree, she did, but so do you! It was wrong for her to base her entire self worth on whether or not she won cases. You however came up with a self aggrandizing philosophy making prosecuting seem more noble than it actually is. It's a job where you help send people to prison, it's not that deep!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Oh I know you think my philosophy is "Portentous" because you don't believe in anything!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Miles, your philosophy is basically "don't cheat in court". I agree with that, but you make it sound like you discovered something profound! You didn't! You learned basic prosecution ethics and acted like you found Atlantis!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    There's more to the philosophy than that! Like how prosecutors should work with the defense to find the truth!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Miles, you don't have to work with the defense if you arrest the right person in the first place. You basically rely on Phoenix to make up for your incompetence.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Hey! Some of these killers are very clever!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    You really are such a hypocrite. You were able to take a year off of prosecuting where you had the freedom to decide whether or not to continue with the career without fear of consequences. You didn't let Franziska have that right! Franziska didn't continue prosecuting because she was inspired or hopeful. She continued prosecuting because she was afraid! You made her afraid!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Well what was I suppose to say!?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Literally anything else! But I could think of something better you can say! "Franziska, I'm sorry I made you feel ignored and abandoned! I understand you're going through a lot right now. I have spent so much time focusing on myself that I didn't realize that you were suffering too. Now that I know, I'm going to try to be better! I'll work harder to be a good big brother to you, because I love you. Whatever you decide to do with your life, I promise I'll be by your side."
MILES EDGEWORTH:    ............ But how does that help her with prosecuting?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Oh my god!
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    What?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    It's blatantly clear that you weren't interested in actually helping her, you were just saw her as an opportunity to act like a prophet. Franziska told me how you were just pushing your newfound beliefs on her.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Helping her discover the true meaning of prosecuting is helping her!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    No it's not! It's clear that prosecuting has made her miserable! What was best for her was for her to leave!
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    And do what!?
               CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Anything else!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    She can't do anything else and you know it! Manfred pulled her out of school so that she can study prosecuting full time, so her entire education was streamlined for prosecuting! She doesn't know anything else! I'll prove it! Franziska, name the planets in the Solar System!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Like all of them? That's a difficult question, there has to be hundreds of them!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    ........ Ok, you proven your point.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Um, Franziska. I think you misunderstood the question. He just wants you to name the planets in the Solar System. Like the planets that revolve around the sun.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Ok......... Does the sun count?
Maya looks concerned
MAYA FEY:    Oh honey, no it doesn't.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Oh of course. The sun can't revolve around itself.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Also it's not a planet. It's a star.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    How can that be? Stars are only visible at night!
               EVERYONE:    ..............
Franziska starts tearing up again.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I just said something stupid, didn't I Phoenix?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    So Franziska can't be an astronomer, but there's other options.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Ok, let's try basic math! Franziska, what's the square root of 121?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    My ass Miles! The square root of 121 is my ass!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (You know, if that was the answer: I would be way more interested in math.)
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I don't appreciate you humiliating me! I'm not an idiot! I know 6 languages!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I'm not saying you're an idiot, you're not. The reason you don't know about space or algebra is that they're not relevant to prosecuting. Now Franziska, name 10 poisons!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Arsenic, Cyanide, Tetrodotoxin, Anthrax, Sarin, Botulinum, Ricin, Strychnine, Polonium and VX.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    See! Even I can't do that!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You don't have to! You're so much naturally better at that job than me! I always had to work 50 times harder than you in order to come close to your level! There was so much pressure on me and I could never work hard enough! I was so miserable behind the bench. The job gave me so much anxiety and depression. There are so many bad memories I associate with that job. I had to practically give up my childhood for this job. I was at crime scene when other girls my age were at the mall or sleepovers. I almost got murdered because of the job! Twice! The idea of prosecuting makes me sick to my stomach! I'm done with prosecuting Miles! I'm done!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Come on! Prosecuting is not that bad!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It was! Prosecuting made me feel so worthless and miserable that....... that I tried to take my own life.
               EVERYONE:    !!!
               CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    What!?
Charlotte looks very concerned. Miles looks frozen.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Franziska, please tell me you're making a dark joke!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You know I don't tell jokes.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I do, but there's a first time for everything!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ...... I'm sorry. I was filled with suicidal ideation throughout my prosecuting career. I never told you anyone outside of my therapists because I was afraid of looking weak; however, since my other biggest secret has been revealed, I might as well open my book completely.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    You were safe to tell me stuff like that. I thought I let you know that you can vulnerable around me.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I knew you would freak out.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Of course I would freak out!.... When?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    The first time was
               CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    First time!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ...... yes, first time. It was right after I suffered my first loss against Phoenix.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    After our first trial!?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It wasn't your fault Phoenix! You did nothing wrong! I just had this mentality planted in my head by my father that I was a worthless failure if I lost. I almost slayed myself with the detective pistol that is very murder weapon in this case, but I backed out due to my own stubbornness. The second time was a few years later. I tried to adopt Edgeworth's philosophy at that point, but it didn't help. I still felt worthless especially since I was still losing cases. I had the irrational mentality that I was always going to be a prosecutor, and I was never going to be happy. I went as far to actually ingesting the pills to end my life, but after I swallowed the pills I got a burst of will to live and I called emergency services. They were able to revive me. The last time was after my final case. After I caused that poor witness to suffer PTSD, I felt like a monster. I thought about all the people I hurt over the years. I came close to jumping off a bridge, but I backed out because I enjoyed the view. I decided to kill my prosecution career right there.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Poor Franziska. I had no idea she was suffering that much.)
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Franziska..... I'm sorry! I should've stayed near you!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    This wasn't your fault. I'm sorry. I do have good news, I'm not suicidal anymore. I was able to deal with that in counseling and staying away from job made me feel so much better.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I'm so happy to hear that.
Charlotte then turns to Miles angrily. Miles appears very nervous.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Miles you bastard! Look what you did!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    I-I-I didn't do that!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    You weren't responsible for the first attempt, but I'm holding you responsible for the last two!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    B-B-B-But I didn't know! She didn't tell me!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    She hides her emotions out of fear of being seen as weak! I told you she was suffering, but you never listened!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    It seems Edgeworth drove Franziska to suicide.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    What!? What!? What!? No! No! No! I-I-I was just trying to help!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    No you weren't! You forced Franziska to keep prosecuting out of fear because you were angry! It damaged your ego that she wasn't listening to you!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    She was cheating in court!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    And she wouldn't be cheating in court if she quit prosecuting! She needed to get away from that job! It was making her a miserable person in every sense of the word! You didn't really care about making her better! You even gave her that stupid whip back!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    HOLD IT!    Did you just say that he gave her the whip back!?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Oh yeah, Franziska threw her whip and Edgeworth brought it back to her!
               RICHARD GUMSHOE:    What!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So Edgeworth actively encouraged the violence! How much of the violence have you encouraged!?
The galley boos!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    W-w-well, we already established that she needed it to prosecute.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    If she needs a whip to prosecute, then she shouldn't be a prosecutor!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    She was hurting me! You knew she was hurting me and you encouraged her to keep whipping people!? I was such an idiot for EVER thinking you were my friend!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Phoenix gave it back to me in the first place!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I didn't tell you to give it back to her!
               MILES EDGEWORTH:    It was implied!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Don't you dare shift the blame to Phoenix!
THE JUDGE:    I'm not surprised. My brother told me that he tried to confiscate Franziska's whip and Edgeworth stopped him.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Of course he did! It makes sense that you're ok with whipping, you are dressed like a slave owner!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Hey! Don't insult the outfit!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Someone like you shouldn't be chief prosecutor! Don't you agree crowd!?
GALLERY:    He should resign! What an awful man! Why are some men obsessed with controlling women!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Chant it with me crowd! For the Winston! Resign Edgeworth! For the Winston! Resign Edgeworth!
GALLERY:    For the Winston! Resign Edgeworth! For the Winston! Resign Edgeworth!
The crowd repeats the chant. Edgeworth starts holding his head and shaking. His glasses then shatter. He has black rings around his eyes and is pissed.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
The crowd stops chanting.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    You people are annoying! Especially you Franziska! You are so ungrateful! I displayed such patience and all you had to do was listen to me! I could've made you something, but you chose instead to be nothing!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Edgeworth! This isn't you! You're just getting defensive because everyone is calling you out! I think you just need to step outside so we can calm down.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Shut up Phoenix! Your hair looks stupid!
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Well, I tried.)
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Phoenix is wrong, this is you.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Shut up Charlotte! Franziska is not your daughter! She's your sister!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I know! I treated like a sister often too. I would tease sometimes... Maybe too often. I just act as a mother to Franziska because she needed one! I gave her comfort, you gave her fear!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    So what if I used fear to control her!? She needed to be controlled! She didn't know what was best for her!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Classic abuser logic.
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Can it with the fake outrage sweetheart! You're just acting upset because your incompetent father is gunning for my position and you want nepotism!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Sweetheart?
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Honestly my mistake was overestimating Franziska! I thought she could be something special, but it turns out she's just a whiny little girl! You even went as far as to make up suicide attempts just to make me look bad!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Those attempts did happen! I can prove it!
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    You are a bastard Miles! You encouraged her to whip people!
MILES EDGEWORTH:    Oh shut up! You all need to grow thicker skin! Getting whipped is not that big of a deal!!!
Angel whips Edgeworth until he's knocked unconscious.
ANGEL STARR:    I wonder what's his opinion on that now?
RICHARD GUMSHOE:    Holy crap! I'm happy that you did that, but I'm worried you might have just lost your job again!
ANGEL STARR:    If I did, then at least I went out on an awesome note.
EMA SKYE:    Don't worry Angel, we'll fight for you.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    If Edgeworth has the gall to fire you, I'll make sure my father gets your job back.
ANGEL STARR:    What if he doesn't' win?
Heal gets a smug look on her face.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm certain Edgeworth's campaign is not surviving this.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Damn it Edgeworth! Why couldn't you have just left the room!?)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Franziska, I'm sorry that happened to you. It's not you, it's him.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Don't comfort me. You're prosecuting me. It comes off as disingenuous even if done in sincerity.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ....... Yeah, you got a point.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Besides, I know what's going on! My love confession was what you needed for your case!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ...... You are correct!
ATHENA CYKES:    What!? You needed that for your case! You tricked me!
Heal looks genuinely concerned.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    What!? I tricked you? How did I trick you?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You didn't trick her. It was obvious. Why do you think she spending so much time trying to prove my crush!? Do you think she was running some type of gossip magazine!?
               ATHENA CYKES:    Ummmm. Maybe?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No! It was clearly for her case! How can the protege of such a genius be such an utter fool!?
ATHENA CYKES:    Hey! At least I can name the planets!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Maybe if you didn't fill your brain with useless space knowledge, you would have room for some common sense!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    How does Franziska's confession help your case?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... You think I was trying to kill Phoenix? Don't you Heal?
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    ...... Yes.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Wait, your theory. The one with the absurd premise... Was the absurd premise that Franziska was in love with me?
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    !!!!!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So many detectives and prosecutors laughed at my theory, but I don't think any of them are laughing now. Many people thought that Rylee was the target and Phoenix was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The truth is that it was the other way around. This was a crime of passion! Here's what happened. Franziska was panicking at the party. Maybe it was because of the note or maybe it was just Wright's presence, but she was freaking out because of her long held feelings for him. Franziska wasn't raised in healthy manner, she was raised in a manner that encouraged suppressing her emotions. She did not know how to healthily process them. She could not handle her feelings of infatuations, so it makes sense that she couldn't handle getting rejected.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    I didn't reject her! I didn't know about her feelings until today!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!    That is plainly obvious; however, according to Franziska, she believed you would never be with her. It doesn't matter whether or not you actually rejected her, in her mind you already have.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    !!!!!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Continuing on, Franziska was suffering. She was suffering a pain that seemed would never leave, so there was only one action that made sense at the moment. End the suffering by killing Phoenix and herself.
THE JUDGE:    You're saying this was meant to be a murder-suicide!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yes. What stopped this from being a murder-suicide was the power outage. Franziska was able to navigate the halls since she was so familiar with the house. When she entered the kitchen, she saw two figures. She knew one of them was Wright, but she didn't know which one was which, so she shot both. Then comes the suicide. She pointed the pistol to her own head, and pulled the trigger; however, the gun was already out of bullets. She could not commit suicide.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    She was in a kitchen! A place filled with sharp objects! If she wanted to commit suicide then she doesn't need the gun to do it!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!    That is a good point. That observation actually proves my suicide theory. I will present the Kitchen Counter Photo
The Kitchen Counter is shown on screen.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    As you can see, the kitchen counter is covered with various kitchen utensils. Every single one of those utensils were tested for fingerprints by Detective Ema Skye. They all have Franziska's fingerprints. It seems they all came from this drawer.
An arrow points to the open drawer.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    What happened was that after shooting Franziska pulled all those utensils out of that drawer. Why? She was looking for that knife!
An arrow points to the sheathed knife in the drawer.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (I remember the kitchen counter looking like that before the murder, but I can't prove that!)
Heal spins real quick changing into her mild mannered form.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So there's my theory. This was a botched murder suicide.
THE JUDGE:    Hmmmm. I see many cases where one sided attraction ends in fatality. It's always sad.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (It wasn't one sided. Maybe it use to be, but it isn't anymore!)
THE JUDGE:    Usually these types of situations happen with the opposite genders.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    True. I don't think men predisposed to this type of behavior though. Oftentimes men are raised in a way that discourages healthy emotional expression. Franziska was raised in a similar manner. I want to tell you Mr. Wright that this wasn't your fault. I don't even fully blame Franziska. If she was raised in a manner where she could express healthy emotions than this never would've happened. Manfred Von Karma is the true villain of this story. Unfortunately, it was Franziska who pulled the trigger.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Damn it! Heal's theory is too good. It explains everything. There has to be something I could do.)
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So Mr. Wright, can you present evidence contradicting my theory.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ......... No.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Do you have any witnesses you need to talk to?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ......... I can't think of anyone.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok. In that case, I believe it's time to call judgement your honor.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    WHAT!? You're calling for an end to the trial already!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I don't see any reason to continue. We have our murder weapon, we have our witnesses, and now we have our motive. You on the hand, have nothing.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    B-But the notes! The night vision goggles!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    All of those are unsubstantiated.
THE JUDGE:    Heal is right. It might be time to pass judgement.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (Well, I found out a woman secretly loved me right before she went to prison. I went through this before, I can't go through this again!)
THE JUDGE:    The court declares Franziska Von Karma
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    ..........    (I can't think of anything, but I have to! There has to be a reason that she has only held romantic feelings for me and she's the first person in years I had romantic feelings for! There's something there that I can't lose!)
THE JUDGE:    .... Well, if you have nothing, then I will
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    .....    ( I have to think of something! I'm certain Franziska is not like Dahlia or Iris! She's not the killer and she's not an accomplice. She's 100% innocent and if I don't do something she could die!)
THE JUDGE:    You know Phoenix, you're suppose to say something after objecting. You seem tired so I'm going to let it slide. Now the court declares Franziska Von Karma
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!
THE JUDGE:    Wright! You're getting on my patience!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Mine too.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It's ok Phoenix. You can stop.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    But you're innocent!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Maybe I'm not. I don't remember doing it, but it's possible I could've done it and blocked out the memory. I thought I was getting better, but maybe I deceived myself.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska! I know you just went through a lot, but you need to believe in yourself!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    It's ok. Thank you for being kind to me the last few days. They were nice.
Franziska walks up to Phoenix.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Now I hope you don't mind. I'm going to steal a kiss.
Franziska kisses Phoenix.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Thank you.
Franziska walks back to the witness stand.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (That was a nice kiss. I want more.)
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Now you may continue.
               THE JUDGE:    Ok.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (No! You can't take her! I need to say something! Anything!!!)
THE JUDGE:    The court declares Franziska Von Karma
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    OBJECTION!    I did it! I killed Rylee Kahnvikt!
Everyone is shocked.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (I was not expecting to say that, but you know what: let's roll with it. I can rescind my confession afterwards and defend myself!)
               THE JUDGE:    You're the killer!?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes! It was me! I'm surprised nobody suspected me since I was in the same room as her. I thought I was fine with someone else taking the fall, but no! My guilt cannot handle it!
THE JUDGE:    Hmmmmmmm. That's very disappointing, but at least you confessed.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    OBJECTION!
Heal takes off her glasses.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    So, you're the killer?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yup! I'm the killer!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok........ What was your motive?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I had...... You know...... Reasons.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok, reasons. That makes sense...... You were also shot and according to the ballistic report: the bullets were fired from over 7 feet away. How did you pull that off?
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ...............................
Heal puts her glasses back on
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Yeah, that's what I thought. Funnily enough, we at the Department of Internal Affairs did briefly considered the possibility that Mr. Wright was the killer. As he said, he was in the same room as Ms. Kahnvikt and his survival was incredibly convenient. We were however able to quickly determine that Mr. Wright was innocent. Mr Wright, I heard you are very dedicated to your clients, but you go 5 steps beyond that.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Phoenix! Why did you just confess to the murder!?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I....I just panicked. All I was thinking was that I needed to say something to stop you from going to prison. I went through this twice before and I didn't want to go through this again.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Go through what again?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ..... Having my girlfriend go to prison.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ........ What?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Franziska, I..... I like you too. Now I didn't secretly have feelings for you for years like you did with me, but I did get really smitten with you at the party. Ever since then I've fallen for you even further, especially when I was hearing how you felt about me. You're the first person in years I had these feelings for and I'm the only person you ever liked romantically. There's obviously something there that I really want to pursue.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Phoenix, you don't have to go out with me just because you feel sorry for me.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    No! I'm being completely honest right now! Ask Trucy or Athena or Pearl or Larry or Maya. They'll tell you that I'm telling the truth. Franziska, think about all the stuff I did for you the last few days. Imagine I did that for someone else, what would you think?
Franziska thinks for a little bit. She then partially unzips her hoodie, exposes one of her shoulders, starts twirling her hair, and has a seductive facial expression.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    So you like me?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ha! Ha! Yeah!    (Why did you have to do that? I'm probably as red as a stop sign right now!)    ........ You still want to be my girlfriend?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I very much do.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Well then... Voila! You're my girlfriend!
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Can we just do that? I thought we have to go on a date first before we can attach labels.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    We can do what we want, but how about we retroactively consider the time we spent at the party and me staying at the detention late dates?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    That sounds good to me. You're my boyfriend now.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yup! I'm your boyfriend.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Wow, so it turns out Mr. Wright wasn't going to reject her after all. That just makes this incident more tragic.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Hey! Don't ruin the moment you jerk!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yeah Heal! What the hell!?
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I'm sorry, but this is my job! I'm going to have to ruin the moment by sending Zisky to prison.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    No!
Franziska quickly runs over to Phoenix and grabs him on the side tightly like he's a doll she doesn't want taken away.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're not going to send me to prison just when I got together with him! Heal Yur Payne, your little theory is wrong! In fact, I can explain why the kitchen counter was covered in utensils. Phoenix brought a cake and I went to the kitchen to get a cake cutter. I had to withdraw all the utensils from the drawer to get the cake cutter. I was in a hurry to get back to Phoenix so I didn't bother putting those utensils back in.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    You have my permission to touch me.
Phoenix puts his arm around her.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ok, do you have proof or witnesses to corroborate your story?
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    .........No.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Thought so. Mr. Wright I understand if you want to forgive her, but she took someone's life. She has to go.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    You're just trying to force an end to this trial because you're afraid. The situation has evolved! You're now prosecuting the girlfriend of the best lawyer in world!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yeah! You really think I'm going to let my girlfriend go to prison?
THE JUDGE:    Maybe. You let your last girlfriend go to prison.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Seriously your honor?
THE JUDGE:    Hey! I keep it real!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You say your boyfriend is the greatest lawyer in the world?
Heal takes off her glasses.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    To be completely honest, he hasn't be able to impress me.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You're not suppose to be impressed immediately! In fact you're suppose to be initially unimpressed as he fumbles through the case looking for a direction to go. When he finds that direction, he rushes full force and hits with power of a million warheads. Completely obliterating the prosecution's case, shaking the poor prosecutor's psyche to their core.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ummm, Yeah! What she said!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Hmmmm. I better make sure that doesn't happen.
Heal puts her glasses back on.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Your Honor, will you pretty please pass judgement?
THE JUDGE:    I'm sorry Phoenix, but I must do my job. The court declares Franziska von Karma
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    OBJECTION!    Come on. Give Phoenix another day of investigation. He can't prove Franziska innocent right now, but if he can get another day of investigation he probably could.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Ms. Von Kamra, I'm sorry. There's reason to push this the conclusion of this trial back.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    There's no reason why you have to end the trial here! If your theory is right, then it's still going to be right 2 days from now. If you truly are prosecuting for justice, then you'll allow for another day of investigation.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    With all due respect, I really don't appreciate calling my beliefs into question. There's no room for reasonable doubt, your sister is the killer.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    What if there is room for reasonable doubt? Let's lower the bar a bit. It's clear that Phoenix can't prove your theory wrong right now, but what if he proves there's reasonable doubt?
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes! If I can prove that there is room for reasonable doubt, then I get another day of investigation!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You two are grasping at straws.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    So what if we are!?
THE JUDGE:    I'm actually in support of this.
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    You are?
THE JUDGE:    It's clear Phoenix hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to love. The courts have taken away two of his girlfriends. They were both guilty in their own ways, but it's still heart breaking to see a servant of the court getting subjected to that treatment. As an old romantic myself, I'm going to give Phoenix a chance to finally save a girlfriend.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    So you're giving me a chance out of pity?
               THE JUDGE:    Basically yes.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ........ Ok, I'll take it.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    I guess that's fine! Grasp your straws!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    It's up to you now Phoenix. Present evidence that there's room for reasonable doubt.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ok.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    So I need to prove there's room for reasonable doubt? Do you have any ideas?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    Hmmmmm. Maybe you can present evidence that supports my testimony. I don't think you can prove my testimony right now, but I think you can prove the possibility I was telling the truth.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    That might work.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    (So I need to present evidence that supports Franziska's testimony. Do I have evidence that supports Franziska's testimony?)
Present Detective Pistol
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Here's the evidence. The murder weapon itself! Franziska testified that she felt the gun all over to inspect it, but never fired it. The pistol supports her testimony by having her fingerprints on practically every spot on the gun except for the trigger!
Heal finally gets some damage. She reacts in shock in the same way as her father, but there's a twist. The bun on top of her head basically explodes into an afro, knocking her glasses off. Heal holds up her hands like she's about to do karate chops as she seems cornered.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    W-we already established earlier! The chances of Zisky's fingerprints being on the trigger is as low as five percent!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes, but the fact that Franziska's fingerprints are all over the gun supports the idea that she was feeling all over the gun!
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    There are many explanations for how her fingerprints could've gotten all over the gun!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yes, and one of them was that she was feeling it in the dark!
               HEAL YUR PAYNE:    !!!!!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    It seems Phoenix has leaped over the bar. Don't you agree your honor?
THE JUDGE:    I agree. Phoenix has proven that there is room for reasonable doubt. You can have another day of investigation.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    Fine! You get one more day of investigation, but so do we! We're going to prove that your girlfriend is the only one who could've shot you!
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    I hope you don't need anything else from my sister, because I'm posting bail.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    You are?
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Yes, I'm proud of how much you've grown up since I last saw you. I miss you and I want spend time with you as soon as possible.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    I missed you too Charlotte.
HEAL YUR PAYNE:    That will be fine. We got all the information we needed from her.
CHARLOTTE VON KARMA:    Now I'll let you have a moment with your boyfriend. I'm going to take pictures of Miles in embarrassing poses.
THE JUDGE:    The court is adjourned.
The Judge slams his gavel down.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    ...... Wow, I still can't believe it. All those years you had feelings for me. I was certain you hated me.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    I did, but I was also crazy about you. My head was above my heels.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    Well, I'm so glad I waited for you.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    So I really made you smitten with me at that party.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    Yes you did.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    It seems I have finally gotten my revenge.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    Revenge?
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    You stole my heart! Now I have stolen your heart in retaliation!
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    Ha! It seems you did.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    Yes! I have achieved my victory! Now I will claim my prize!
Franziska kisses Phoenix.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    I'll meet you tomorrow at the detention center at 10 am.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO FRANZISKA):    That works for me.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA (TO PHOENIX):    Good! Now get a good rest!
Franziska walks off.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Good job boss. You got yourself a girlfriend.
PHOENIX WRIGHT (TO ATHENA):    Yeah, I did.
ATHENA CYKES (TO PHOENIX):    Good thing too. It seems Franziska totally hated me for exposing her.
Franziska walks up to Athena.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    Athena Cykes.
Athena turns around joyfully.
               ATHENA CYKES:    Yes!
Franziska punches Athena in the face. Athena holds her face in pain. Phoenix looks at Franziska.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ..... Ok, I know what I just did was bad. I promise that I'm still dedicated to my commitment of non-violence, I just made an exception for her. It's wonderful that you like me back, but it was still really embarrassing what she did to me.
Athena punches Franziska back. Franziska falls backwards. She stares up blankly towards the ceiling.
               FRANZISKA VON KARMA:    ........ Hmmmmmmm.
LOBBY MAY 12TH 2030
Phoenix, Trucy, Athena, Maya and Pearl are standing around the lobby.
MAYA FEY:    That was certainly something. You have a girlfriend now.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Ha. Ha. Yup.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    I'm glad you finally have a romantic partner.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    For years I didn't think I needed one. You, Maya, Pearl and Athena were all I needed. I didn't think I needed a spouse.
MAYA FEY:    You probably didn't "need" one. The bond you'll have with Franziska won't be stronger than the bond you have with any of us. It will just be different.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Yeah. I didn't really "need" a spouse, but I'm really happy I finally have one!
PEARL FEY:    It was so romantic! You two were waiting for each other without even knowing it!
ATHENA CYKES:    Yeah! The most romantic part was when your new girlfriend punched me in the face!
PEARL FEY:    And you deserved it!
               ATHENA CYKES:    What!?
PEARL FEY:    You never expose a girl's crush, especially not in front of her crush! I would've punched you too!
ATHENA CYKES:    But Phoenix likes her back!
PEARL FEY:    It's not just about getting together with your crush, it's also about the moment you finally tell your crush your feelings. You ruined that moment! Good thing Mr. Nick was able to make it romantic.
Laurice Deauxnim walks up.
LAURICE DEAUXNIM:    Holy crap! That was the best work I have ever seen!
ATHENA CYKES:    I actually think we did a lousy job today. Any momentum we got was almost immediately squashed.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    He's not talking about how we did in court.
LAURICE DEAUXNIM:    Of course I'm not! I'm talking about how you did with Franziska! You got a woman who was suppose to hate you to fall head over heels for you! How did you do that!?
TRUCY WRIGHT:    He did it by being himself!
LAURICE DEAUXNIM:    Well crap! That doesn't help me at all.
TRUCY WRIGHT:    I was so happy hearing what Franziska said about you! It's all true! It's a lucky thing you being the killer isn't remotely believable Dad.
MAYA FEY:    I don't know about that. With time and the right evidence: Nick could've made it seem like he's the killer. I can imagine it now.
Maya points her finger out like Phoenix!
MAYA FEY:    "This final piece of evidence proves that the killer is:.... Me!"
Maya then has an over the top reaction that looks like Phoenix having a breakdown.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    Thank you Maya.
MAYA FEY:    A lot did happen today. It's strange, I felt like Edgeworth both deserved what happened to him and didn't deserve what happened to him.
ATHENA CYKES:    What he did was wrong, but he was mostly getting called out by a woman who clearly hated him for a long time and the daughter of a political opponent.
MAYA FEY:    Yeah, that Charlotte is still a jerk, but she does seem like a good sister to Franziska. I was skeptical when Franziska told us she was a loving sister. She's definitely a better sibling to Franziska than Edgeworth.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    I hate that I can't disagree with that at all. Franziska and Edgeworth definitely have a complicated relationship, but I can fix it!
TRUCY WRIGHT:    Dad! You have two priorities right now: getting a good night sleep and saving your girlfriend!
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    ....... Yeah, you're right.
LAURICE DEAUXNIM:    This whole situation is a little funny if you think about it.
               PHOENIX WRIGHT:    How so?
LAURICE DEAUXNIM:    Your first girlfriend tried to kill you and now you have to prove that your newest girlfriend didn't try to kill you.
PHOENIX WRIGHT:    .... Yup, that sounds like the story of my life.
To be Continued.....

Tumblr media
For that one singular fan on ao3, this ones for you. I got no idea if you use Tumblr or not but hey, another story for the size pile.
------
When Rylee and Hex had asked them out to another date out near the Peninsula past Hammerhead Bridge, River was excited. Another date with the inkling she loves? Sign them up. And apparently the two have been busy lately, doing something that they say is a surprise.
Fortunately for their lovers, they also has a surprise for them. Looking at the little clear bottle in their bag, River smiles as the inkling makes their way over to the spot where Rylee and Hex are, with chairs and a blanket nearby with a small box sitting nearby. They were dressed up wonderfully, Rylee with a short sleeved vest, and Hex for once is wearing a sweater. Makes sense since they’re near the ocean.
River looks at the two, “Aww, you didn’t need to dress up for me. I appreciate it though. Rylee blushes a little at this, making the inkling smile. Sitting on the blanket River scoots closer to Rylee and Hex, giving them a small kiss on the cheek each, “How’s the trip to the Splatlands going? Anything interesting come up?”
Hex lets out some air as she think it over, “It’s definitely different compared to Inkopolis that much I can say.” Rylee leans on River’s shoulder, looking out towards the ocean as Hex tells the inkling about how it is in the dessert that is the Splatlands. Before long Hex stops after Rylee tugs on the sweater arm, nudging her head towards the box.
“Oh right.” Hex slides the small box past Rylee and over to River, “I know its not much, and that I’m not much of a baker,” River opens up the box to reveal a small batch of cupcakes decorated in yellow frosting, “but Rylee and I made these for you. For our special little inkling.” Hex leans in close, gently clasping River’s hand.
River, upon seeing these cupcakes, is ecstatic about tasting something that both of her loves made. They pick one up and eyes the cupcake, seeing that there was definitely some work put into these. Taking a bite from it, she is greeted by the sweet icing and the chocolate chips that lay inside it, “Oh these are so good. Thanks you two, really. This was kind of you to do this.”
Hex nods, holding Rylee’s hand as they eat the cupcake, “Glad that you like them. Those four are for you. We’ve...” Rylee glances away, blushing all the while, “Had enough I would say.”
While River was confused at this, it doesn’t stop them from eating the second one, enjoying the flavour of it. That’s when they remember the bottle in her bag. Looking at the two, they wait until they’re not paying attention to them. Once Hex glides her hand on Rylee’s cheek before kissing her River takes the chance to drink it, eating another cupcake as they do so. Once the two were done kissing Rylee looks down at the box.
"Oh!" Rylee giggles at seeing nearly all of the cupcakes gone, "Guess you really liked them huh?"
River nods, absentmindedly taking the last cupcake as they mentally prepare for her upcoming surprise, now that they drank the bottle. “Yeah the cupcakes were really good. Thank you.” They lean forward, gently holding both of their lovers hands, “I do have one surprise for you. But you gotta wait. Think you can do that for me?”
Rylee and Hex look at each other, nod, and look back to River, “Yeah we can wait.  Rylee says first, “We have a surprise of our own to give you. It’ll just take a few minutes, so...”
Hex stands up, looking down at River, “You will like it. Rylee made sure of it. Now then-” She pulls Rylee up from the ground and onto her feet before walking away from the inkling still on the blanket, “Give us a moment.”
River simply nods, smiling a little at the fact that their surprise will be happening soon. When they feel the tingle in their body the inklings knows its about to start. And what starts is them growing, bit by bit. River tried to hold back their excitement at this, mainly because she doesn’t want Rylee and Hex to see it now and more closer to when its done.
The contents of the bottle as far as River knew would only make her grow to about 40, maybe 50 feet. Enough for them to hold Rylee and Hex close to them, and as a treat for the other inkling for actually growing to be a mile high a week ago.
As the inkling grows and grows, River already approaching 10 feet in height, Hex and Rylee return, with knowing smiles on their faces.
“Hex look!” Rylee says, pointing to the growing River, “They’re getting bigger, just like you did with the cupcakes before!”
That... Made River pause as she looks down at the two, Hex now sporting a small blush on her face, “What do you mean by that exactly?”
Rylee giggles as she lifts up the box that once contained the cupcakes, “These have a special batter in them that when mixed, makes people bigger in different ways! I bought the tall batch, not knowing that’s how it worked. So imagine my surprise when I saw Hex bigger later.”
As Rylee laughs at Hex’s expense, not that she didn’t find amusement in it either, River... Wasn’t doing so fine. As they keep growing, now at around 20 feet and growing even faster she eyes her bag containing the empty bottle, “Um... Rylee?”
“Yeah Rivi?” Rylee asks.
“Lets say... Hypothetically, that I also wanted to make myself bigger for you, as a treat after making you grow a mile high before. And it was a clear bottle that when drank, would make me around 45 feet tall.”
The octoling’s eyes widen, piecing all of the parts together, “If the two things were to interact with each other-”
Rylee, now very aware what is about to happen, takes Hex’s hand as she makes them get some distance away from the inkling, who’s growth is accelerating by this point. River watches as the ground gets further and further away from them, surpassing the 40 feet she thought it would’ve been.
It took time, but when they reach around 30 meters River can feel the growth slow down. When they go to crouch down and tell the two that its slowing down, they feel the tingle get stronger. Very strong in fact.
“Umm... Guys?” The couple down below look at at the inkling, both concerned and amazed at the height that River is at, “I think another spurt is coming!”
River was glad that she warned the two, because her feet swelled in size, almost hitting them before their legs lengthen. Their torso feels like its being stretched as her arms catch up to the increasing size of her growing body. The inkling may have taken biology but from what they can see, having your limbs grow out of order is not normal. They let out a grunt as their skin felt tight from the growth, causing River to wobble as the feeling gets worse.
Just when River is about to fall over, they felt an arm wrap around them, keeping them up. When they glance over to their left they see Rylee, now 50 meters tall and level with her, keeping them aloft. “Uuugn... Rylee?”
“Shhh... I got you.” Rylee gently pats River on the back as she sits the now giant River down closer to the ground. Sitting down with them, Rylee brings the comparatively tiny Hex closer to the inkling. “You should be fine soon Rivi.”
Now that they are now laying on the ground, River looks up at the two, “Ugh this sucks. I just wanted to surprise you since you well, allowed yourself to be a mile high last week. So I wanted to repay that by pampering the both of you while I was huge. Seemed that the both of you got the same idea...”
Hex, now brought down onto River’s forehead, rests on her belly as she gently strokes their head, “Seems so. I guess... We should’ve asked first instead of having it as a surprise. Or at least had done it earlier so that this didn’t happen.”
The octoling lets out some air as she makes herself comfortable, “But since you’re like this anyway and we don’t know how long the combined effects will last for, how about we make the most of it?” Carefully crawling onto River’s cheek Hex gives it a small smooch. “We have almost all night after all.”
River chuckles slightly at this, and a little bit more when they see Rylee’s face blush a little. Though there was a mischievous look once the equally sized inkling went in close, kissing the same cheek that Hex was on before pulling away.
“Yeah. We do have all night.” Rylee starts to shrink down and eventually becomes small enough to sit on the other cheek of the giant inkling, “Just the two of us, and a giant that we need to show just how much we care for.”
River feels a smile form at this, letting themself be content with this now unusual, yet almost expected, date turned out. They place a hand on each of their two lovers, gently smooshing them against it.

“I know I shouldn’t ask.”
Content warning: NICU (intensive care for newborn babies)
It was far past the end of Rebekah’s shift at the hospital, and from the weary look of Mr. Fell, his visit was over as well.
But Rebekah pressed on. “I know you make the rounds of all the departments. I know they shouldn’t let you in, but they always do. I know you’ve already been to another part of the hospital today, and that you came to the NICU a couple of months ago. Not everybody seems to remember you visiting, but I do.”
“You’re a little more sensitive to this sort of thing than some,” Mr. Fell said, with a smile.
Rebekah rubbed her arms, feeling cold. “I know it exhausts you,” she whispered. “And I know that if I start asking, then other people might ask, and it will overwhelm you, and I’m so sorry.” Her breath hitched as she tried to hold back a sob.
“It’s all right, Rebekah,” Mr. Fell said, offering his arm. Rebekah took it as they started walking toward the elevators, and she did notice that she was suddenly not cold anymore.
“This baby has been here for three months,” Rebekah told him, “and we can’t lose her now. She’s come so far and her parents had hope and she’s—”
“Like your baby, in a way?” Mr. Fell asked with a smile. “Of course she is.”
“Nurses that fall for their patients make the best and worst nurses,” Rebekah said shakily as the elevator doors closed. “Is it too much?” she asked.
“I don’t know. But I’d like to try.” Mr. Fell looked hopeful and Rebekah could almost feel the hope herself.
The elevator opened and Rebekah led Mr. Fell into the ward. No one gave them a second look. The baby was in the third room down, curtains drawn, monitors beeping, tubes and wires everywhere.
“Can I hold her?” Mr. Fell asked as he washed his hands at the sink.
Rebekah handed him a pair of gloves, and after putting on her own, lifted the baby from her bed. The infant fussed weakly until she was laid in Mr. Fell’s arms.
“An infection?” he asked immediately.
“She was almost ready to go home—”
Mr. Fell smiled down at the baby. “Hello, little one. I know things aren’t very comfortable right now. But even so, let’s see if we might stay here awhile. That’s right, darling. Stay with me.” Around the white-haired man, the darkened room began to glow.
Someone called Rebekah away. It was half an hour before she came back to find Mr. Fell sitting in a chair with the baby snuggled against his chest, tubes and wires carefully arranged. His eyes were closed and the glow she’d seen earlier was very faint. And all over the floor were white feathers which had fallen from the wings that stretched out from his shoulders.
Rebekah pressed her hands to her mouth as she started to cry. A beeping startled her and she stepped forward to pull a phone from Mr. Fell’s jacket pocket. He didn’t stir.
It was a text message from someone named Crowley. Rebekah guessed that this was probably the husband who drove Mr. Fell to the hospital every month in a fancy black car.
Where are you? said the message.
Rebekah typed in an answer: NICU
A few moments later, the husband approached the front desk, and Rebekah brought him back into the ward. Again, no one seemed to notice. They stopped in the doorway of the baby’s room and Mr. Crowley groaned, “Oh, Aziraphale.” In a much sharper tone, he said to Rebekah, “He’s not supposed to be in here today.”
“It’s my fault,” she confessed. “I asked him—”
Mr. Crowley sighed. “Let me see.” He washed his hands, donned gloves, and then picked up the baby from Mr. Fell’s arms. “Hello, Laura.” The baby opened her eyes and blinked up at him. “Well, aren’t you a chipper little thing?” he asked. “Hungry, too.”
Rebekah tried to keep her voice steady. “Is she—”
“Why, was there something wrong with her?” There was a hint of a smile on Mr. Crowley’s face. “Seems perfectly fine to me.”
The tears broke through and Mr. Crowley laid the baby in Rebekah’s arms.
“All right, angel,” Mr. Crowley said, tossing his gloves into the trash. “Time to go home.”
Rebekah watched Mr. Fell stir just a little as his husband brushed a hand over his cheek. “So are you also—” she asked.
Mr. Crowley looked amused. “No. Well, variation on a theme, you could say.” He ran his fingers through Mr. Fell’s white curls, and Mr. Fell opened his eyes. His wings shuddered a couple of times before seeming to fold into nothingness.
“He’s so much better than an angel,” Mr. Fell said softly.
“Oi, that’s enough out of you,” Mr. Crowley snapped. “I’m very cross with you, you know. Once a month, one ward only, we agreed.”
“Oh, my goodness,” said Mr. Fell with a yawn. “My dear, you’re simply terrifying.”
Mr. Crowley growled at him. “Awfully cheeky for someone who can’t walk.”
“Will he be okay?” Rebekah asked anxiously.
Mr. Crowley was still scowling. “I’ll see to him. But he can’t make a habit of it.”
“I know. I promise.”
Mr. Crowley put a shoulder beneath his husband’s arm and stood him up as if the larger man weighed nothing.
“She’s going to be fine,” he told Rebekah. “He does good work.” And then he snapped his fingers and Rebekah was alone in the room with baby Laura. Even the feathers had vanished from the floor.
Rebekah looked down at the baby and whispered to her. “Oh, you little miracle. Let’s go find your mom and dad.”

No. 21 - Hypothermia
Summary:
Read on: Ao3
Read companion piece here.
Everly watches August play in front of the fire, his book sprawled out beside him and his magic flickering. August creates small creatures of magic that he plays with like dolls, moving them around and dissipating them when he grows bored.
Something shifts in Everly at the sight of the creation magic, so distinctly unfamiliar yet as familiar as the summer sun. His magic could’ve been meant for creation at one point in his life, but he let that slip from his grasp. He had hoped for a magic that would please Paris, something destructive and powerful. Kaiden answered his call, lending him the cruel history of his spellbook.
It’s only years later that Everly learned that Paris was far from the people he should be pleasing. That what he did to Everly and the children he was raised with as brothers was wrong. It was only after seeing the unadulterated happiness and attention that August gave Everly did he realize that there was no family with Paris.
Sometimes, when the shadows press a little close and Kaiden’s nowhere in sight, Everly thinks of the other boys with him. He escaped only by leaving them behind. It was years since he’s heard from them, even from the gossip and rumors. He wonders if they’re okay.
He wonders if they’re even alive.
They couldn’t help that they were Paris’s children and they didn’t deserve to die because of it. But as much as Everly wants to grant them the same freedoms that he received, he couldn’t even step foot in the castle. The mere thought sent his heart hammering in his chest and his breath shuddering to a stop. He couldn’t do it.
Everly flinches as August slams into his slide. August latches onto Everly’s arm, looking up to him with large, watery eyes. Everly reaches over and tentatively rubs a hand in August’s hair. “Is everything okay?”
August shakes his head, frowning. “I miss Evander. When is he coming back?” His voice trembles and he digs his fingers into the sleeve of Every’s shirt.
Everly swallows, stopping threading his fingers through August’s hair. “I don’t know.”
August detaches himself, looking back up to Everly with a serious expression on his face. “Then we have to go looking for him!” He sits back, wiping his face with his sleeve. “He could be lost!”
Everly glances to the window. The storm is still raging, layering sheet upon sheet of snow. He couldn’t bring August out there. “How about this,” Everly stands, leaning over his knees to point to the toys August’s abandoned. “You go and clean up your toys and I’ll look for Evander. Can you do that for me?”
August nods, although the frown doesn’t leave his face. “Won’t Father get mad if you leave?”
“I’ll be back soon.” Everly gives August a grin that he hopes doesn’t look as shaky as it feels. “And if Father asks, you’ll just have to tell him where I am.”
“Okay.” August his hands in fists, his voice steadier and more sure. “I can do that.”
“Thank you.” Everly straightens up and grabs his cloak from the closet.
August watches him as he steps out into the snow, the cold instantly seeping into the thick material of his cloak. He draws it further over himself and sets off in a random direction. He retraces his steps from a few nights before, hoping to find something that could give him an indication where Evander is.
Magic assaults his sense, dulled and sickly but undeniably familiar. Evander is nearby. Somewhere in the midst of all this snow. “Evander!” He calls out, his voice echoing in the artificial silence of snow.
It’s quiet and for a sickening moment Everly believes he only imagined the magic.
But it jolts against his sense and this time he can detect it’s direction. He takes off in the vague direction he sensed, drawing in large lungfuls of the icy air. It burns but Everly can barely feel it. It couldn’t hurt more than the thought that he might be too late. Because the magic was even weaker than the first time he sensed it.
He stumbles into a small clearing, an abandoned shell of a building standing before him. One of the walls lay collapsed in a pile of bricks and debris but the roof is intact enough to act as a shelter. Everly flares his magic and steps into the building.
It creaks when Everly brushes his fingers against the remaining walls, the chill seeping into his skin. A few feet from the entrance—could Everly even call the collapsed wall an entrance?—in a corner, sits Evander. He’s huddled in a tight ball, oddly still. He raises his head when Everly approaches, his eyes unfocused. “Everly?” His words are slurred and muddled and it takes him far too long to force the words out. “Are you really here?”
Everly crouched beside Evander, pressing a hand against his skin. It’s too cold. “I’m here. What happened?” Evander latches on to Everly wrist, his fingers icy and tinged with a blue color. “I got lost.” He frowns, his voice shakily and wavering. “I’m tired, Ever.”
“Wait Evander!” Everly presses both of his hands to Evander’s face, trying to keep him awake. “You can’t fall asleep!”
Evander mumbles something Everly can’t make out before slumping forward. Everly catches him in his arms, the damp fabric of his clothes soaking his sleeves. Panic floods through him and he can barely breathe. “Kaiden.” Everly croaks out, the name barely heard over the roaring wind. He swallows and tries again. “Kaiden!”
Kaiden appears across from Everly, his hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie and the perpetual smirk still on his face. “Finally realized that…” Kaiden trails off, glancing between Everly and Evander’s form in his arms. “What’s going on?”
“Kaiden.” Everly’s voice cracks, a sob breaking through. He couldn’t lose the fragile pieces of what could become a family. “Help.”
Kaiden crouches down, narrowing his eyes. “You need to get him out of that cloak. It’s all wet. Put yours on him instead.”
Everly nods. “I can do that.” He shakily leans Evander against the wall, unbuttoning his cloak and draping it across his lap. Everly removes his own and fastens it around Evander. The cold tears through his clothes, settling somewhere deep within his chest.
“Put on his cloak and pick him up. I hope you know how to get back.” Kaiden disappears with a crackle of magic, leaving behind the dissipating atheos that only Everly can see.
He pulls on the cloak, the wet material laying heavy against his back. He maneuvers himself beside Evander and drapes one of his arms over his shoulder. Everly snakes his hand around Evander’s waist, pressing Evander against his side.
Everly hauls him up, nearly stumbling over the side. Evander groans and his eyes open to thin slits. “Where are we going?” He mumbles out, beadily turning over to Everly.
“Home.” Everly takes the first step and Evander stumbles with him. But his eyes start to slide shut again. “Hey, I need your help walking.”
Evander grins, although it’s weak and thin. “You’re asking for help? That’s a first.”
“C’mon, I know you’re out of it but you can lay off me.” Everly narrows his eyes against the storm, following the thin trace of his own magic. “It wouldn’t hurt you to be friendly.”
“I think it will.” Evander tightens his grip against Everly's shoulder, his fingers digging into the wet fabric.
Everly hums and pushes them forward. He continues like this, instigating Evander whenever he starts to fall silent or lag behind. His responses become quieter, barely heard over the wind, and it takes him longer to dredge up the words. Everly just tightens his grip around Evander’s waist and keeps going.
The lights from the castle cut through the heavy snowfall, the pale yellow loosening the heavy weight in his chest. He tears open the door and drags Evander inside. He’s limp in Everly’s grasp, barely able to keep himself standing.
August jolts up at the sight of them, rushing over. “Ever! You found him!”
Everly holds out a hand, stopping him. “Go and get the nurse. We need to warm him up.”
August darts out of the room and Everly stumbles, falling to his knees but keeping Evander from collapsing against the floor. His head lolls against Everly’s shoulder and his grip slackens. Everly’s fingers are stiff against Evander’s waist, the chill brought to his attention with the warm of the room. Everly wants to lay there and just sleep until his limbs are no longer numb.
But he can’t do that. Evander’s counting on him. Evander trusted him despite his every attempt to make it clear he couldn’t care less for him.
“Everly!” Kaiden hisses from beside him, crouched over and eyes trained upwards. “Your father’s coming.”
Everly’s head snaps up. His father is walking in, expression flat but his eyes set with the thinnest shards of concern. “Father.” Everly forces out. Kaiden’s eyes are still trained on Lukas, narrowed and his posture oddly tense.
Lukas kneels beside Evander, draping his other arm over his shoulder. He draws him up, Everly following the movement. “Let’s bring him to the infirmary.”
Everly nods, slow and unsure. Lukas wasn’t one to outwardly display any form of care or affection, rather standing back and letting Rylee serve as their source of comfort. If anything, it casted doubt on how much Lukas cared for any of them, no matter the fact that they’re his children.
Evander didn’t like that, lashing out and fighting with Lukas at every opportunity. Everly couldn’t say he feels the same. Whatever this awkward distance Lukas builds is better than the manipulation Paris coated with sickly sweet falsities.
They lay Evander over the closest bed and the nurse sets to work, stripping him of his outer layers of clothes and replacing them with dry ones. Lukas watches for a moment, silent and his expression unreadable. Everly stands, glancing between him and Evander and Kaiden, who decided to hover in the corner with his arms crossed over his chest.
Lukas does leave, providing parting words to the nurse that he should be updated if anything happens. Muscles that Everly didn’t even realize were tensed loosen as the door slams shut. He slumps into a nearby chair and peels off his cloak. He drops in a pile on the floor and settles his gaze on Evander.
Everly dozes while he waits for Evander to wake up, alternating between a limited awareness and a light sleep. When he does come to, the lights are dimmed and the storm raging on the other side of the window has quieted.
Kaiden is still leaning against the wall, his arms folded over his chest and his eyes narrowed. He’s thinking about something although Everly never could extract what it was. A broken nostalgia settles in his gaze, something that Everly doesn’t think he knows is there.
Evander groans and Everly sits up, leaning forward. “Evander?” Everly’s voice is soft and tinged with a thin coat of fear.
Evander opens his eyes, confusion evident in his expression. “Everly? Where am I?”
“The infirmary.” Everly says. He drags his chair closer to the bed. Kaiden only watches, his gaze heavy on Everly’s back. “You gave yourself some pretty bad hypothermia.”
Evander hums, narrowing his eyes. “I guess I did.” He tries to draw himself up from the bed, leaning on shakily arms.
“Hey wait!” Everly reaches out, fingers brushing against Evander’s arm. “You should—”
“Don’t touch me!” Evander shoves Everly’s hand off him, nearly falling over in the process. “I don’t need your help!”
Everly awkwardly hovers with his hand outstretched. He’s not quite sure what to do, not wanting to watch Evander hurt himself but also wanting to respect the tentative and fragile relationship they had.
Evander leans back, resting his head against the walls. He glances over to Everly, his gaze half-lidded. “I’m sorry.” His voice is quiet and strained.
“It’s okay.” Everly leans back but he doesn't move his chair away. “I shouldn’t have touched you.”
Something flickers across Evander’s expression but it’s gone before Everly can attempt to decipher it. Evander looks away, silent. For a moment, neither of them speak and Everly wonders if Evander’s fallen asleep. Just before Everly moves his chair back, Evander’s voice breaks over the silence. “Can I ask you a question?”
Unease breaks over Everly. There is so much that he doesn’t want to explain, so many questions that Evander could ask that he doesn’t want to answer. But he can’t bring himself to say no. “Sure.” His voice is drawn thin and his hesitation is evident.
“Who is Kaiden?” Evander asks. He fiddles with the blankets, but his gaze is set solely on Everly. The ice blue of his eyes are so different yet completely similar to Everly’s. “You called out for him. Back in the snow.”
Everly blood runs cold. He hadn’t realized that Evander was still awake. He slipped up in an act of desperation, driven by fear and irrational thought. It was idiotic of him to call out for Kaiden.
He glances over to where Kaiden stands despite everything telling him not to. Evander could catch him looking at someone who’s not there and put the pieces together. Either he’ll figure out that spirits exist or brand Everly with a type of crazy that can’t be cured.
Kaiden drags his gaze over the Everly, a bored expression on his face. It sends a sinking feeling deep within his stomach that warps into a churning nausea. Kaiden shrugs, a flicker of a grin tugging at his lips. “Sorry kid, you got yourself into this one. There’s nothing I can do.”
“Everly?” Evander’s voice tears Everly out of his thoughts. He looks back to Evander. The confusion has morphed into concern. “Is everything alright?” His voice is hesitant, as if he’s dealing with someone teetering on the edge of sanity.
“I’ll tell you who Kaiden, but you have to trust me.” Everly leans forward, his voice thready and not quite there. Maybe he’s less sane than he thought. “It’s going to sound insane.”
Kaiden moves from his spot at the wall, his enjoyment melting off his face. It leaves a detached panic that looks misplaced. “Everly, what do you think you’re doing?”
Evander frowns but he doesn’t shrink away for protest. “I can do that.”
Kaiden stalks across the room, his magic arcing off him. The lights flicker but Evander doesn’t even flinch. “If you say another word, I’ll personally make sure that you never speak again.”
Everly ignores him. Kaiden can’t even interact with anything in this world. They’ve already been through this. Kaiden shoves a hand through Everly's chest, his magic pulsing and crackling. Instinctively, Everly flares his own magic, protecting himself. “Kaiden is a—”
Something splinters in his chest, cracking and tearing into his lungs. For a moment, everything goes dark, thicker and far more suffocating than anything he’s experienced.
And then everything becomes bright and he burns.

Glass-says: Chapter 13
Chapter 1, Chapter 12
Ao3 link
Summary: Roman's having trouble falling asleep.
Warnings: Phrase about violence and weapons, Feelings of inadequacy and loneliness and Mention of a loss.
Chapter 13
Xi? Are you up?
Roman was curled around his phone on the bed. He ended up not being able to fall asleep and he wasn't sure what to do to ease his mind so he was hoping his friend could help him. Wandering around the house didn't seem like the best idea since this wasn't his home. He was only staying here until he either was forced to leave or was able to find his own place. Virgil may have invited him to stay, but he had no idea how the emo's parents would feel about him being here.
something wrong Ci?
Just can't sleep.
any reasons why?
Roman stared at his phone. What was he supposed to tell his friend? That he hadn't been able to text him much because of needing to make money to provide for himself? That his family had moved away without him and now he was staying with a classmate? He sighed, turning his gaze to the ceiling. Staying with an attractive classmate. Was it wrong that he kind of liked Anxiety and Virgil? He couldn't say anything about what was going on. He wasn't sure how Xi would react and he didn't want to worry him so close to their meet up.
Just thinking about how we have less than a week until the Masquerade.
...are you nervous
Me? Nervous to meet you? Are you?
Of course Virgil was. He had tried his suit on multiple times after getting it to make sure it was perfect. Everything needed to be perfect for meeting Princey. His make up, his mask, his mood. He would have broken down on multiple occasions if Patton hadn't assured him he looked amazing in his whole outfit with and without the mask. He needed to make a good impression on his online crush.
of course not Princey
Not even slightly?
maybe a little...
I may actually be a little as well. But don't worry too much about it, Xi. I am sure it will be almost like seeing an old friend after a long time apart.
you're probably right
thanks Ci
Sweet dreams Xi. <3 Ci
sweet dreams <3 Xi
Roman put his phone down on the bed side table. He wasn't actually planning on falling asleep just yet. He didn't know how differently Virgil and Logan were going to treat him after learning of his situation. He didn't want anything to be different tomorrow. He didn't want them to treat him like a ticking time bomb where he could explode into an emotional wreck at any moment. Roman was okay. He really was. So what if his parents didn't want him anymore? Or that he'd probably never get to see Richard or Raylen or Rodrique or Rylee or Rosalyn. It wasn't like he hadn't lost family before.
Roman closed his eyes, bunching his blanket in his hands. He could see his face. They had been so young. They'd both been told to stop messing around, but why would they have had any reason to listen? Maybe his brother would've grown up to be less of a disappointment than he was. Maybe he wouldn't have been disowned like Roman was. Or gay, gross or freaky. Maybe Paris was right. His Father too. Maybe-
"Kiddo?"
Roman opened his eyes. They widened after taking a second to take in what was in front of him. A boy who looked to be maybe a few years younger than him had his hands up next to Roman's face and he seemed to almost be… floating.
Roman let out a scream as he fell out of bed, finding the first thing he could find and pointing it at Patton. "Stay back you… you… Whatever you are!"
"Shh." Patton held up his hands in an attempt to calm Roman down. "You're sure pointing a lot of shade at me there, Kiddo." He chuckled at his own pun about the lamp Roman had grabbed to defend himself with and then winced when he heard Virgil rushing down the stairs to the attic.
Virgil burst through the door, holding one of his guitars up as a weapon. He glanced between the glasses on Roman's face and Patton, lowering the guitar. He held a hand to his heart. "What the heck are you doing, Patton?!"
"He looked sad and I really wanted to help and give him a hug and-"
"What in the name of Julie Andrews are you?!" Roman interrupted, keeping his distance from Patton and then looking to Virgil. "What is he?"
"The glass-says it all, doesn't it, Kiddo?" Patton giggled, hovering over the floor.
"No, it really does not say anything about-" Roman pulled off the glasses, blinking when Patton had disappeared along with the glasses in his hand. He pushed them back onto his face. "Is this something I have concocted in some strange dream?" He turned to Virgil. "Wait but shouldn't I be saving you from the danger instead of the other way around?"
"Am I usually the damsel in distress in your dreams, Prince?" Virgil shook his head, moving over to Roman and helping him up. "No. This is real. That is Patton. He's a ghost and for some reason he can only be seen with his glasses."
"I've tried taking them off before but another pair stays in its place." Patton joked, pulling Roman into a hug.
Roman flinched at the initial cold that hit him when Patton had pulled him in. He hesitantly put the lamp back down, hugging him back. He let out a chuckle, still in shock and disbelief. "This feels so incredibly real that I'm not even sure I'm going to believe I'm actually awake when I wake up."
Virgil rolled his eyes, pinching Roman's arm.
"Ow..." Roman whined, stepping away from Patton to rub his arm. "That hurt."
"Good." Virgil leaned his guitar against the wall by the door, standing beside it.
"It wasn't supposed to hurt though."
"Usually when someone pinches someone else it is."
Roman slowly turned his attention back to Patton. He lunged for the lamp again, swiftly unplugging it with a rough tug and rushing to block Patton's path to Virgil. "Stay back you demon!"
Patton flinched. "Woah there, Kiddo. That's quite a jump away from a ghost don't you think?" He glanced at Virgil unsurely.
Virgil grabbed the lamp from behind Roman, trying to take it away from him. "He's not here to hurt us. Let go of the lamp, Prince." He grunted.
Roman shook his head. "Then why is he haunting you?! Why is he here? All ghosts have a purpose in being!"
"He's not haunting me!" Virgil looked to Patton with a quiet sincerity before continuing. "He's my friend. Now stop painting him up to be some kind of monster."
Roman stopped, letting go of the lamp after a moment. "Your… friend?"
Virgil let out a sigh of relief, staying as he was in case Roman tried anything again. "My friend." He nodded.
"...Before or af-"
"Before."
Patton took an uncertain step towards the two, watching Roman in case he got spooked again. "I'm sorry for scaring you. Is it okay if I give you another hug now?"
"I wasn't scared. I was just-" Roman dropped the act when he saw Patton could see right through that lie, nodding at the little flick to his arm Virgil gave him. "It's alright I don't think you meant to." He took a minute to get a better look at Patton. "If the whole soft dad get up is in any way an accurate depiction of your personality, the worst you could probably do is bury me alive in dad jokes."
"You betcha, Kiddo." Patton chuckled, he held his arms open to repeat his last question. "I promise no more surprises tonight. I'm all boo-ed out."
Roman gave him a light smile back. He was about to take a step forward when he realized Virgil was still holding the lamp in front of him. "Uh, Virgil?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you want to join in on that hug action?"
Virgil took a confused second and then quickly let go of one of his hands on the lamp, scrambling backwards into the wall with a curse. "I'm going back to sleep. Next time don't scream bloody murder unless you're actually being murdered." He muttered, closing the door behind him and reopening it to switch the lamp for the guitar.
Patton chuckled, wrapping his arms around Roman. "Are you really alright, Kiddo?"
"Well if Virgil of all people isn't afraid of you I don't see how I should be." Roman held Patton back.
"He's had time. You should have seen his reaction to seeing me again." Patton laughed, moving to sit on the bed.
Roman settled onto his bed as well, giving Patton his attention with a smirk. "Did he freak out?"
Patton nodded. "He did."
"You have to tell me all about it now."
"Okay, Kiddo. But after that you're going to bed."
~
Virgil fell forward onto his bed with a groan, turning over when he heard muffled laughing coming from downstairs. It sounded like Roman and Patton were getting along well. He sighed, picking up his phone.
It was strange hearing another voice in the house. He was so used to it just being him and Patton. He'd usually stay up talking with Patton on nights he couldn't sleep. It didn't feel right not to have Patton here with him to make sure he got some rest. This felt kinda… lonely. Like how it felt after the funeral without a friend who could actually be with him in person to comfort him. A friend who would've been Patton if it hadn't been his… Was it wrong for him to be jealous knowing Patton wasn't just his friend anymore? That he was going to spend less time with him to spend time with Roman and Logan now? Patton had seemed to have a renewed excitement when they had decided on making new friends. Was that because he was getting bored of Virgil?
Virgil took off the glasses, laying them on his bedside table, staring at them for a while. Maybe it wasn't jealousy. Maybe it was just fear that he could be left behind. That Patton would end up only wanting to spend time with Roman and Logan and that he'd be left on his own again. Left on his own like he always was.
Chapter 14
Sorry, it's been a minute. This chapter has been almost done for a while now but I just wasn't certain about the ending and I feel better with where it's at now. I promise that things are going to be lightening up quickly and who knows maybe the next chapter might be one we've all been waiting for for a long while now. I'm not sure yet I have to start writing the next chapter to be sure. Thanks for being patient and I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I'll be posting a few different fics over this week so keep an eye out for those if you'd like to see more fics by me.

Finally finished enough to publish sometime for another fic I’m working on. Started working on it before he passed but chapter one turned into basically my tribute to technoblade and wow it was hard to finish. Hopefully if I keep in the swing of things I can actually get the whole fic done. We’ll see, even if I just leave it at this I think I’d be satisfied
