I have a good friend I do this with but sometimes I wonder if it would help to have someone else to bounce ideas off (I get shy and don't reach out tho).

Similar to other October events that you might be familiar with, RarePairTober will take place throughout the whole month of October. Below you'll find 31 double prompts to create your works for.

The challenge is open to everyone, whether you’re a part of our discord server or not (but you’re welcome to join us here :))

General Rules:

Double prompts consist of a rare ship prompt and a word/phrase prompt. Those can be used combined together, or separately—meaning you can create for the ship without including the word prompt or use the word prompt and create for any rare ship you like

We encourage experimenting with different ships, but if you'd rather write 31 fics for the same pairing, that's alright, too!

more spn headcanon shitpost as i go on with the rewatch: jack is now ten and has to make a family tree. this is not the one he actually turns in - gabriel is “uncle uncle” because he’s with sam AND he’s the only archangel who is truly castiel’s brother. also he thinks it’s hilarious

- let’s be honest chuck only cared about the archangels to everyone else he was just the bio father. so he’s jack’s grandpa but he’s not anyone’s dad unless you are an archangel.

- john is dean and sam’s dad but also he was demoted to john in the end so i assume jack does think of him as john not as “grandpa”. no one corrects him.

- charlie and benny honorary aunt and uncles. rufus and missouri are honorary aunts and uncles OR honorary grandpa and grandma if that works in american culture i have no clue

- crowley qualifies for being jack’s grandpa but he does not want to be a grandpa. except when he does. also he got him a hellhound and sneaks him candy.

- if we are bringing everyone back to life i want uriel back to be the distant cold uncle that they will “explain when he’s older”. raphael also tried to kill everyone and start an apocalypse but he had reasons.

- adam is not shown related to dean and sam bc they forgot him in hell for five seasons that says a lot. he and michael are the “they moved to another continent before you were born and only visit sporadically” uncles.

- right now i like the idea of balthazar and benny together mostly because i think balthazar would hit on people in dean’s life because it’s hilarious and then it’s like oh. oh no. (he also hits on mary but i think mary is chasing the malewife of her dreams. or the soft lesbian of her dreams. idk which way mary swings but she wants to settle down) (i do like the idea of mary and linda tho).

- jack’s “emergency contact” list goes on for two pages. it’s not like he needs it when he can just pray to angels but dean actually likes seeing all the people he can count on in his life being written down.

One of a Kind Part 20

[Part 20] The calm before the storm.

“You’re beautiful,” Cas gazed at Dean as he dressed, still lying down himself with an arm under his head to prop it up.

“Bet you say that to all the girls,” the object of his affections smirked before pulling a t-shirt over his head.

“I have said that to no one but you,” Cas sat up to correct the other man.

Dean just looked at him for a moment before sweeping in to take his face in his hands.

“I love when you say shit like that,” he whispered against the former Angel’s lips before pulling away to dress.

“Like what?” Cas stretched his arms with a pleased smile spreading across his face.

“I don’t know, you’re just effortlessly romantic sometimes…” Dean’s voice was intentionally gruff, probably to offset the sweetness of his words.

“Then I guess romance is just honesty,” Cas observed and swung his legs over the side of the bed.

“Not always,” Dean laughed throwing some of his clothes to him as Cas’ eyes darted over the floor in search.

“Oh, thank you,” he stood, a grin tugging at his lips as Dean’s breath caught.

He began to dress, pointedly catching the green eyes that were wandering over him.

“What?” Dean huffed in amusement, “I can’t admire?”

“Always.”

A small gagging sound caught their ears at the same moment and both heads turned.

“Oh, hell no,” Dean’s fists clenched and he rushed to fling the door opened, “How long have you been out here?”

“An impressive amount of time actually,” Balthazar clapped, “Good on you, mate.”

“Oh hello, Castiel,” Meg licked her teeth with a wicked smile, and Dean immediately pulled the door closer around him so that Cas was hidden to finish dressing privately.

“Why are you out here?” Dean ground out through his teeth.

“Well, we missed Rowena and Gabe’s show so you two were our only other form of entertainment!” Balthazar shrugged, “It was this or testing out cursed objects… and I figured we had enough trouble already…”

“Wasn’t expecting you to be such a softy,” Crowley snarked, but turned his head away from the green gaze upon him.

Cas appeared next to him, clothed and glaring in that way that always served to remind Dean of his warrior-of-heaven background.

The former Angel opened his mouth to rant but was cut off by a small voice.

“What’s everyone doing out here?” the boy had appeared unnoticed just a few feet down the hall.

“Jack,” Cas greeted before the others could answer his inquiry, pulling him into a hug, “How are you?”

“Better now,” the nephilim nodded, “Did I miss anything?”

“Oh did you ever, kid,” Balthazar quipped.

“No, nothing at all,” Cas shot another glare toward his brother before disappearing down the other hallway with the boy under his arm.

“Have I mentioned how fun it is to have you guys?” Dean pulled an intentionally fake smile as he pushed passed the three, “So great.”

“Yeah, getting your holy rocks off all morning sounds like such a torturous life!” Balthazar called back.

“But on a serious note,” Balthazar appeared in the kitchen as they entered, “I have weapons, we have basically a mini god here, and I’m ready to know I’m not going to die again. So, shall we get to it, or is there a reason we’re waiting? I mean, for all we know, dad could be injured and waiting to recoup…”

“He’s not wrong,” Gabriel made himself known from where he stood in the doorway, “When’s the go?”

Dean sighed, eyes meeting with Jack, who straightened under the gaze.

“Get Rowena, I’ll find Sam,” he nodded.

Cas’ face was that of a father in that moment, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by Dean as he rounded the corner into the hall.

“Am I wrong in assuming we’re keeping my dear, sweet baby bro out of this?” Gabe spoke up, shoulder to shoulder with him as they navigated the bunker’s halls.

“Yes,” he affirmed decidedly, “I want him as far out of this as possible.”

“What about you?” he asked without agenda, ready to go it either way.

“I’m here if it comes to that, but he’s done…” Dean answered, “He’s done enough.”

“Understood,” he nodded before passing Dean as he stopped in front of Sam’s door.

He found himself not wanting to reach up and knock, wanting to keep him out of it as well, but knowing he couldn’t if he tried. He never had been able to, really, despite his efforts.

“Hey, Sammy,” he called as his fist collided with the aged wood of the door, “Meeting in the kitchen.”

“Yeah, just a sec,” he heard back and went on his way.

Eileen looked at him in question.

“Dean,” he signed as he spoke, “There’s a meeting in the kitchen…”

“It’s about that time, isn’t it?” she asked as her fingers laced with his.

“Yeah, I think so,” he replied simply and to the point.

“Scared?” her eyes met his.

“…yeah,” he admitted reluctantly.

Eileen nodded but offered nothing more, knowing this was a problem she couldn’t fix for him.

“I’m not,” she finally settled on, pulling a genuine smile from the man next to her.

“You aren’t, huh?” he asked adoringly.

“No, ‘cause see I kinda believe in you, so… puts a damper on the whole stress thing.”

He pulled her in sharply, and she happily met him there.

“I love you,” he let her eyes open to meet with his again before he said it.

“I love you too,” a smile seemed to run wild across her face, “Now go save the world, Winchester.”

He stood, wiping his face but failing to conceal the joy she had given to him in that moment. He found himself with a strength he had desperately needed since his first encounter with Chuck as the trio.

His hand shook at his side when he rounded the corner just at the thought of it.

“Sammy,” Dean greeted by tossing a beer to him.

He caught it with a grateful nod, “Hey, guys.”

Gabriel and Balthazar were leaned against the wall to his left while Rowena and Jack sat with Crowley at the table.

Dean was busy making Jack a sandwich and Cas with worrying over the boy that no one seemed to notice the demon missing from the room.

“Where’s Meg?” Sam voiced before taking the remaining seat at the head of the table.

“Maybe she actually made a run for it,” Crowley smirked.

“No,” Cas’ brow furrowed before he was off and out of the room.

“Oh, isn’t that sweet,” the demon cooed, eyes locking with Dean’s, “He cares.”

“Hello, Meg,” she froze where she stood in the dungeon, hand on one of the powerful items the angels had brought back with them.

“How’d you know I wasn’t already gone?” she smirked as she turned toward the former Angel.

“I knew you wouldn’t leave without some sort of weapon, and you were in the hall only minutes ago so the chances were good that I could still catch you here,” he recounted.

“Didn’t think you noticed,” was her sarcastic response as she turned to pretend to be more interested in the room’s various weapons.

“I admit I’ve kept my distance,” Cas cleared his throat, a habit he’d picked up from Dean since becoming human again.

“Yeah, I noticed,” she shot back.

“I don’t know how this works,” a smile tugged at his lips, “But you are the closest thing I have to an ex, and the movies I’ve seen would suggest there was bound to be a certain… awkwardness.”

“So you did finally watch a few movies,” she grinned.

“And read a few books,” he recalled the prior conversation she was referencing.

“Ever find out who Clarence was?” she quirked an eyebrow at him.

“I did,” he softened, “I watched that one a few times actually.”

A comfortable silence passed between them before he added.

“Please stay.”

“I don’t know what good I’m doing when you’ve got Angels and witch queens!” she exclaimed, throwing an arm out in frustration, “What am I doing here?”

“You’re here because we care about you,” he answered earnestly and the fight drained from her body, “Sam didn’t want you alive because you’re useful… It’s something that took me a long time to realize, but it’s not about that for them.”

“I don’t think it’s quite that deep with me and the hardy boys,” she let out a breath of laughter.

“No, maybe not, but I can assure you- Sam wouldn’t have saved you if he didn’t care… but who knows, maybe Jack did it,” he crossed to the door with his back to her, “He’s been in my head before, maybe he knew I needed you…”

And with that, he was gone to leave her to her decision, but halfway back to the kitchen something began to burn on his chest. His hand touched the spot and his face twisted as a cry pierced the quiet hallway, echoing horrifically through to the awaiting group.

Irish Eyes Are Smiling Finale

Pairings: SamxEileen (main), DeanxOFC, GabrielxRowena

Word Count: 762

Dean reached Eileen first, he grabbed her just in time as her hand was about to touch the horses nose. Dean stumbled and luckily he kept Eileen and himself from going into the nearby body of water. The horse let out angry snorts and lowered it’s head “Dean!” Gabriel called out, Dean looked up from Eileen who was smiling up at him and signing ‘Thank you’ to him to Gabriel “Run!”. He called out, Dean turned just in time to see the kelpie charging at them. Dean grabbed Eileen’s hand and took off back the way they had come.

“They’re not going to get away.” Robert said.

“Yes they will. Gabriel use your grace to bring them closer.” Sam said, aiming the gun at the kelpie. Gabriel looked from Sam back to Dean and Eileen, he reached a hand out and both Dean and Eileen let out shouts of surprise as his grace swept them off of their feet. The kelpie made a desperate lunge towards Eileen who's left hand was stretched out in surprise.

“Sam!” Gabriel yelled as he moved Dean and Eileen higher, his yell was followed by the loud bang of a gun and the thud of a body. The kelpie landed to the ground with a thud and started to thrash around while letting out inhuman screams, Sam slowly walked up to the kelpie who began to snap at Sam in anger. He pointed the gun at the creature's head and with a few more well placed bullets the kelpie went still. Later on that night Gabriel, Dean and Robert worked together to dismember the kelpie while Sam sat inside of Robert’s house.

“I’m sorry.” Sam told her.

‘For what?’ Eileen asked him.

“I should have been the one to grab you and save you.” Sam told her looking down. Eileen shook her head.

‘You did. If you hadn’t shot that thing it would have gotten me and it probably would have gotten your brother too.’ she told him before running a hand over one of his cheeks. ‘You’re still my hero don’t worry.’ she told him with a smile.

“Well then. Do you think that maybe this hero could get a kiss?” Sam joked. Without warning Eileen pulled Sam down and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

‘Was that good enough or do you think that you deserved something better?’ she asked.

“No that was good. Not bad. But I think that I’m better at it.” Sam said before pulling her close to give her another kiss. Before either one knew what was going on they were in a full blown make out session. They pulled apart when they heard someone clear their throat, they turned to see that the other three had come back in. Gabriel had an eyebrow raised, Dean was trying so hard to not laugh at them and Robert wasn’t even trying to hide his grin.

“So I take it that you’re going to stay in Ireland for a few more days Sam?” Robert asked. Sam gave an embarrassed laugh before looking at Eileen and then back at them.

“Yeah I guess so.” Sam said, holding Eileen closer.

“Well then. I guess I’ll see you later.” Dean said, waving to Sam.

“Yeah. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do and don’t forget to pray to me or Cass and we’ll come get you when you’re ready to come home lover boy.” Gabriel said before taking Dean’s arm. In the blink of an eye the two of them disappeared and Robert made up some excuse about having to go out and cut up some more logs.

---------------------------------Back at the bunker--------------------------------

“So how did it go?” Renee asked.

“Yes please do tell. Did Samuel finally admit his feelings?” Rowena asked moving so that she was closer to Gabriel, a small smile spread across her face as she felt his arm move so that he was holding her closer.

“Kind of. Caught them making out.” Dean said as he rubbed a hand up and down Renee’s back.

“Really!?!” both Renee and Rowena shouted before bursting out into giggles. Gabriel rolled his eyes before letting out a loud sigh.

“Don’t the two of you think that you're way too old to be acting like this?” he asked them.

“Nope.” Renee said with a grin on her face.

“And who are you calling old? None of us were a twinkle in anyone’s eyes when you were created.” Rowena said, putting her hands on her hips. Gabriel shrugged his shoulders before giving her quick kiss to her temple.
