if i had a nickel for every time a herondale-blackthorn duo performed necromancy to bring back a blackthorn relative, i’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

I think what makes me sad is how much people seem to dislike Clace. Like here's two people that love each other in a way that Jem said himself he hadn't seen since him, Will, and Tessa. And yet people hate it so much.
All because they think they're annoying or disgusting. But they don't feel that way about other ships that I personally believe are unhealthy and more annoying.
I mean, TMI in general is like so pushed to the side by people lately that it's actually sad. These people are the reason all the other series even exist, if it weren't for TMI, TID and TLH and TDA and TWP wouldn't even be a thing. So it's just funny how much people unappreciate the OGs.

i follow this tsc account on instagram and she would post updates with reactions while reading tlh books. and she is the biggest alastair hater and given that my favorite tlh character is alastair i was, of course, fumming every time she would mention him. because she would never move past him. like how can you hate someone THAT MUCH? like all the way to the end of chain of thorns, the alastair slander would be there. (even a slur at one point, tho the person is not homophobic)
to my shame i still follow the account for tsc updates, but i hid her instastories from my feed.

What was y’all’s favourite book in TMI? My favourite, personally, was City of Lost Souls. I couldn’t tell you why, but it’s just been my favourite for as long as I remember. The travel, the tension, the sudden shift in pace and atmosphere, it just altered my younger self’s brain chemistry the first time I read it.

Malec sorts out Avengers Infinity War
While thinking about Avenger AUs, also had the thought of Dr. Strange summoning an "otherworldly power" to help them with Thanos (when they are stuck on that planet and Strange is doing this "checking over 14 million futures" thing).
And out of the summoning circle pop Magnus and Alec (who were on a date and Alec quickly latched on to Magnus when the warlock was being sucked into the portal.)
And then Thanos appears and Malec take like 20 seconds to kill him, and then Magnus spends about 15 minutes lecturing Strange about the "proper etiquette of summoning people from other universes. We could have been naked, for goodness sake. Next time ask first."
(Also Magnus is taking the stones. They are too powerful for this universe.)

A lot of the “spicy” romansce fantasy authors that kind of pioneered the sub genre (SJM, Jennifer l armentrout, laura thalassa etc) all started in YA, and then in mid series, they shifted and grew with their audience to go more adult in themes.
Do you think Cassandra Clare should have done the same thing and missed this opportunity? Would you have preferred if she reflected this? I personally feel like her fandom would still be as strong as ever if she followed her colleagues suit.
Or do you think that she stayed good sticking to her roots and her writing voice lends itself to not have more adult type of romances and benefits from a fade to black shall we say.
In her latest kickstarter, one of the four novels that are in it, will feature 10 spicy romantic couples from shadow hunters universe. Given this is crowd funded it makes me wonder if, if it were up to her, she would have gone more adult themed but her publishing contract held her back from it. But then from a publishers pov, isn’t that shooting yourself in the foot? All the authors I mentioned above changed their contracts I feel to reflect the direction the audience knew would give the most captain gain.
I would love to know your thoughts on this 🤭.
I don't think Cassie ever wanted to write romantasy or spicy romance-fantasy as her main "vocation".
I think I picked up on this when she deleted a lot of Julian and Emma smut scenes from The Dark Artifices because they didn't serve the progress of the story. Cassie has her indulgences, but she tends to not be overly focused on writing romance or smut in the grander scheme of the fantasy story. Cassie's guilty pleasure in writing seems to be writing semi-unnecessary angst and fluff between close friends more than anything, not spice.
I'm quite glad we're getting some spice from the Kickstarter project, and I think the reason she's making this an additional, optional project and not part of the main series is because she knows it's just for fun; it's not her main "thing", just an additional treat.
So all in all I'm quite happy she didn't follow with the Sarah J. Maas and company trend. And frankly, neither did Cassie's close writer besties either. Neither Holly Black nor Maureen Johnson nor Sarah Rees Brennan have gone into smutty adult fantasy either, so I get why it's not Cassie's preference. Cassie seems more set on establishing herself as a "serious" high fantasy writer now, hence rubbing elbows with George RR Martin.

when you dislike the MC of a good series AKA Who Will Die in The Wicked Powers
damn, being petty enough to flip off the MC x canon ship in my (favorite) fandom is really kicking me in the ass--
yeah, basically I can't touch half the TSC stuff on Tumblr bc I'm so anti-Clace...(meanwhile I love literally every other character that's been in every Shadowhunter series)...& they're probably gonna have a wedding + kids in the next books (assuming Jace isn't killed)...
The Wicked Powers is most definitely gonna have the Princes of Hell as the main villains. I feel like Luke, Gwyn, or Izzy will die, since the younger Shadowhunters are supposed to be central & well...look at the couples who will be alive/extant by TWP:
SPOILERS FOR ALL SHADOWHUNTER BOOKS!!
Jace & Clary
Magnus & Alec
Simon & Izzy
Julian & Emma
Kit & Ty
Kieran/Cristina/Mark
Dru & Ash (& maybe Jaime)
Diana & Gwyn
Luke & Jocelyn
Tessa & Jem
(forgive me if I'm missing anyone!)
Jace already died once. Clary had dreams about dying, but those were shown to be visions of Thule. Based on canon events, I think they're Clare's favorite ship. SAFE.
Magnus almost gave himself to Asmodeus in CoHF. Alec almost-ish died saving Magnus in The Eldest Curses. Also, Alec almost died thanks to that poison demon in TMI (the one Magnus saved him from). Malec might end up forced to rule some region of Hell (reason unknown but I think it'll have to do with them beating/destroying Asmodeus). I feel like past events foreshadow Magnus dealing with the unfortunate sides of being a warlock. But he won't die--the "killing your gays" trope might actually save he & Alec.
Simon nearly died when the vampires attacked him (when he was a mundane), then when Valentine bled him pre-Daylighter (then Jace's blood saved him). He "sacrificed" himself to Asmodeus CoHF, in the form of his vampire immortality + memories (which he basically got back later on). Izzy...she's been through a lot psychologically & about as much as I think most Shadowhunters would physically. She lost Max & her dad. But she's a badass (I'm not faulting her for it, either). So I don't think she's safe.
Julian & Emma both lost their parents in horrible ways. Their whole series was about the parabatai curse (which, to me, was conveniently not mentioned in chronologically earlier series...probably because it wasn't invented til TDA was written, lol). They're kinda written to be the leaders of Livvy's Watch. SAFE.
Kit has his whole faerie power reveal shit to explore & he + Ty are some of the major characters in TWP. I'm pretty sure they'll spend the series healing their relationship. SAFE.
Kieran/Cristina/Mark will survive because 1) Kieran as the Unseelie King is an important Shadowhunter ally, 2) they're poly rep in YA, which is rare, and 3) killing one of them off would leave the others to mourn in such a weird way. SAFE.
I love Dru Blackthorn. She's one of the main of TWP, so I think she'll survive, plus tbh I don't think any more Blackthorns will be killed. Ash will probably end up as the Seelie King or as Clace's adopted son, to "redeem" Sebastian in a narrative sense. Jaime's sort of a main for TWP as one of Dru's love interests. SAFE.
Diana & Gwyn aren't main characters (though I like their romance). Diana also is the ONLY transgender person in all the books (unless I missed something). I don't think she'll be killed off. Gwyn might be just because I see the Wild Hunt as an important group in TWP & he might die protecting Diana (narratively, this shows strengthened faerie-Shadowhunter relations, despite the Wild Hunt being unaffiliated with either Court).
Luke & Jocelyn deserve to be endgame, but I could see Luke being killed off as one of those "MC's loved one is killed so the MC goes & avenges them" type of things. I love Luke & Jocelyn as characters, though.
Tessa & Jem deserve to be endgame, arguably, more than any couple. They were the mains in their series, then Jem survived but was sort-of-"lost" when he became a Silent Brother. Then he miraculously became a (mortal) Shadowhunter again when he was burned by heavenly fire, he just left the Clave behind to hang with Tessa (good choice!). Tessa has a baby & she's gonna suffer enough when she outlives Jem. SAFE?

Unpopular TSC Opinion- Rosemary had a goddamn point
Alright, let’s talk about something that slightly irks me about the way Tessa viewed Rosemary. First of all, that line where Tessa is being like, ‘Maybe if they didn’t love each other so much’ regarding Rosemary’s brutal murder and Jack Crook’s death is so fucking hypocritical. This is the same woman who’s almost like a godmother to Clary and is on good terms with her and Jace. The same pair, who literally caused a freaking war because Clary couldn’t let him go. She can play nice auntie to them, but disapproves of Rosemary unable to let her husband and child go?! Tessa, you severely disappoint me with your favoritism. Second of all, she did had a point in considering the Shadowhunters as evil. Let’s look at the facts for the ‘wonderful’ Herondale line. -Tobias and his wife, enough said. -Will had a happy ending but he was traumatized after losing his sister and had a ‘scandalous’ choice of wife. -Lucie and James are literally the grandchildren of a Prince of Hell and suffered greatly due to it. -Marcus died of grief after losing his son horribly. -His wife was hellbent on revenge until she was killed on a boat. -Their son, Stephen, was killed by vampires after being set-up by his evil cult leader. -Jace is a literal human experiment raised by said cult leader who went through a lot of trauma because of it.
And let’s take a look at the Nephilim world of the past few decades, when Rosemary was alive.
-An evil cult called the Circle that dreamt of genocide was tolerated for years. -A bloodbath named the Uprising. -The Mortal War. -The Dark War. -The Cold Peace. -The rise of the Cohort.  Do you honestly blame this woman for thinking the Nephilim were her enemies?! If you just look at the facts, and the overall fact of being trained to kill and fight before they can even legally drink, any mother would say, “Not my baby.”
The Shadow Market, on the other hand, aside from the whole Malcolm Fade thing, has never been known to be at the center of such cruelty and extremely dangerous situations. It seems surprisingly a safer place then idris. I can totally understand Rosemary and Jack preferring that over the Clave, including as an enviroment for their son. Tessa is way too biased and playing favorites when Rosemary enters the debate.  Oh, and do I need to remind people Kit was found by the Riders of Mannan because of the Shadowhunters?
