You Don’t Even Know What She Looks Like? (Spencer Reid x Reader)
Summary: Spencer’s girlfriend has always been mentioned. Never has the BAU team been shown a photo or given a small rundown of what she looks like. So, when Spencer announces that she’ll be visiting the office to bring him food on a late night, well, you can guess the chaos that ensues.
Warnings: none, very fluffy
Note: aww my first Spencer Reid fic! I hope you all like it <3
The BAU had only ever heard about Y/n. Never did Spencer show pictures of her or give descriptions on her appearance because he wanted to keep the majority of her to himself for as long as he could. Even though she had told him numerous times that showing them pictures and giving them more than the occasional chaotic story was completely fine by her, he never could bring himself to. That was until he started being away a lot more because of a continuous string of cases, making it harder for him to see her outside of the office. The first time she asked to bring him food when he was up late at the office doing paperwork, he declined, rambling about how he didn’t want to have to deal with all the screaming that would go on from the introduction of his girlfriend.
However, the second time she asked, he had had a hard case, one filled with innocent children and one that hurt him the most. As he sat in the chair of his desk, eyes staring at the wall as everyone around him scribbled down words onto paper, he knew he needed to see her. He would’ve left right then and there, but the stack of folders sitting to his left made him completely reject the efficiency of that idea. So, when her name popped up on his phone with a small plea to bring him food, knowing he hadn’t eaten as much as he should with the case, Spencer couldn’t say no.
”Guys,” He said, standing from his chair and turning so he could face the rest of the team.
Everyone’s eyes averted to him. Morgan leaning back in his chair, “What’s up, pretty boy?”
He twiddled his thumbs, “Don’t freak out over what I’m about to tell you, okay?”
At this, Emily and JJ perked up. Penelope, the woman passing by in the hall and overhearing his suspicious sentence, slid into the bullpen.
With everyone’s slow nodding, Spencer broke the news, “My girlfriend is coming in to bring me food.”
”WHAT?” Penelope shouted, completely disregarding his wish for them to be calm. She dropped the folder in her hands, not concerned that classified information lay beneath, and sprinted over to the tall man she knew as her friend.
She shook him, her hands on his shoulders, “SPENCER, ARE YOU MEANING TO TELL ME I’M ABOUT TO MEET YOUR GIRLFRIEND?!”
He giggled, “Yes,”
Morgan gave a glance to Rossi, who was standing against the railing and smirking, before standing from his own chair and making his way over to Penelope, prying her off Spencer, “Okay, babygirl, Spencer asked us to be calm about this.”
She turned to him, eyes widened, “Calm? No way will I be calm about this.”
”I’m with her on this one. Sorry.” Emily admitted, the woman standing next to JJ as the two joined the group.
Spencer rolled his eyes, “Seriously, guys. Don’t scare her away.”
Rossi cocked his head, “Scare her away? If you haven’t already after six months, I’m sure we won’t.”
Spencer frowned just as Penelope yelped, “Is that her?!”
Spencer turned his head to the door of the bullpen, seeing a blonde woman emerge from behind it. He shook his head with a laugh, “Penelope, no. That’s not her. You don’t even know what she looks like.”
Penelope stuck her tongue out at him just as JJ hollered, “That her?”
A random stranger passing by, Spencer shook his head once more.
Morgan joined in, “What about her?”
A man. Morgan pointed to a man. Spencer gave him a glance as Morgan giggled, never getting bored over a good teasing.
Emily tried to guess as well, “Hey! What about her?”
”No! Guys, I will tell you when she’s here.” Spencer said with a slight annoyance. His girlfriend had just texted him she would go to get his food. There was no way she was here yet.
The group got tired after a moment of pointing out random women and all fell back into their paperwork. After about ten minutes, Spencer stood from his desk.
Everyone in the BAU froze.
When he saw their stares, he laughed, “I’m just going to the bathroom. She’s not here yet, but if you stare at her like that when she comes, I swear to God she will run the other way.”
”Hey!” Emily exclaimed, throwing a crumpled up piece of paper at him as he pushed open the door and turned down the hallway.
There was silence for about three minutes seeing as Spencer wasn’t there, watching his mannerisms and determining if Y/n was close or not out the window with him gone.
A creek sounded throughout the floor as the door was pushed open. Y/n stood, with a white plastic bag in her hand, looking out at the people working at their desks. They completely missed the entrance. With no eyes on her, she moved to Spencer’s desk and placed the bag on top. Her eyes glazed over everyone before she cleared her throat, “Um, does anyone know where Spencer is?”
Morgan’s head snapped up as JJ and Emily stopped writing. Rossi’s door swung open and he stepped out forcefully, not graceful in the slightest. As if she was summoned, Penelope flew through the door of the BAU, almost tripping on her heel as she returned from her hibernation in her office.
With all eyes now on her, Y/n blushed slightly. Spencer had mentioned that everyone would be a bit overbearing, but she didn’t know even the smallest thing like their stares would be intimidating.
Penelope moved toward her first, looking at her as if she was an alien, “Are you Y/n?”
Y/n nodded and the entire group erupted into loud overlaps of coos and compliments. Spencer’s girlfriend stood in the midst of them all, being pulled into Penelope’s arms as the colorful woman hugged her tightly. JJ and Emily told her they loved the way she had styled her hair, asking how she had done it, and Morgan interrogated her on how Spencer had managed to “smooth talk” her. Rossi just nodded his head at her and extended his hand, murmuring his name and how nice it was to meet her.
Spencer was walking back from the bathroom, down the hall, when he heard the excited voices. He knew then and there what the situation was, and his feet began to pick up. He was practically running toward the BAU glass door and when he reached it, he yanked it open.
Everyone turned to him, his girlfriend’s face peeking out from behind them all and he immediately softened. The twinkle in her eye, the blush on her face, he could tell she appreciated finally being given the opportunity to meet his chosen family. Spencer wondered why he even waited to introduce her in the first place.
The man made long strides across the office, muscling through the small number of bodies before getting an arm’s length away from Y/n, pulling her into him by the waist.
He turned to everyone, smiling widely as his hand smoothed over her back lovingly, “This is Y/n, my girlfriend. Now, you can pick her out of a crowd.”

So. Now that she's home and safe and gonna be ok, I can talk about this.
I almost lost Kaiju. Christmas Day. I was woken up by a phone call from Allison, who will be referred to a LOT in this story. Allison runs the pet store where I board Kaiju. She called to tell me that Kaiju had lost a LOT of blood. (As it turns out, half her blood volume. Humans die when we lose 40%, just so you know. She lost 50%.)
There were no visible injuries, and she had passed a bloody stool. Or rather, a blood clot with some poop in it. She continued to pass only blood when they put her in the bathtub to clean her up. If I'd taken her anywhere else, that... would have been it, probably.
But Allison is an actual miracle worker and knew an emergency vet who was open- on Christmas Day- and could see reptiles. As soon as she called me, she took her to the e vet, where they gave her fluids and oxygen and got her stable. They did some x rays and found... nothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, the e vet actually complimented me on her bone density and how nice her toe joints look. Whatever this mysterious haemorrhage was, it was in the soft tissue.
The immediate thoughts were:
Impaction
Cancer invading an artery
Aneurism
Reproductive issues
However, the emergency vet couldn't figure it out, and my vet was out of the country. The e vet consulted with a lot of vets and it was decided she'd go into Chicago Exotics for care the next day- they were willing to see her on immediate notice. Allison drove her over and they did an ultrasound... and couldn't differentiate the mass they found.
So, exploratory surgery it was.
But... she didn't have enough blood for that. She wouldn't have survived... if Allison hadn't found blood for her. Tegu donors were found, the transfusion happened, and was completely successful.
And what the surgery found was completely unexpected. No cancer. No repro issues. No typical impaction.
Instead? Weird white things in her muscles and a partial impaction that seems to be related to a reduction in her ability to properly digest. There are two possible diagnoses at this point. One is visceral gout. This is very strange because in reptiles, articular gout basically always happens first, and her kidneys are fine.
The other option? Weird, potentially cross species parasite she picked up when she was in the Everglades. Something she's likely had all her life, something that was dormant until recently.
I'll know when the pathology report comes back in a week or so.
Anyways! She is doing very well. She is alert and interested in things. She has an incredible appetite, even though she can't have solid food yet. She's on three meds, including one I have to inject. At her three week recheck, we will add a fourth- either the correct anti-parasitic or a medication to improve kidney function, depending on the diagnosis. Currently she's in a hospital cage and she hates it- she can't have any substrate because of the stitches.
Tumblr media
The vet says it should take about three months until she makes her full blood volume. Her pack cell count should be at 35%. It was at 7% on the 26th. But by the 28th, it was at 10%. She's gonna be ok. She's tough. My little girl is a fighter, always has been. You have to be scrappy to survive in the wild.
And throughout this entire experience, everybody has told me how lovely her personality is. Through the injections and cloacal probing and everything, she never bit or even tried to. The vet didn't think she even wanted to bite. Like it wasn't a question of wanting to bite and not being strong enough- it's just not something in her behavioural repertoire. She doesn't bite because she doesn't want to. Because even at her most scared, at her most painful, she's still Kaiju, the best tegu to ever live. Love is stored in the tegu, and it continues to be stored in the tegu. We have a long road ahead of us, but she's out of the woods and is going to be ok. We both are.
Also, consider this a MAJOR plug for Curious Creatures in Chicago. I'm never going to board my animals anywhere else.

Thinking about Mike avoiding you after you saw him beating that man in the fountain ‘cause in his mind you think that he’s a monster and never want to see him again
(Sorry for any mistake, that’s not my first language)
dont apologise hun!
Tumblr media
you worked at the coffee stand in the mall. wasn't the best pay and perhaps the hours were sometimes a little too long but you got to work in the same building as your boyfriend so, it wasn't the end of the world.
you were busy cleaning the counter, "is that mike-? y/n! y/n!" your co-worker called you and you quickly walked over to where she was, following her eyesight and suddenly there was your boyfriend tackling a man into a fountain. "oh my god" you mumbled, practically jumping over the counter and running to where you boyfriend was beating the ever living fuck out of some guy. but you knew mike, he wasn't one just to spring attacks, there had to be a good cause for this, a decent enough reason. you watched as your boyfriend was pulled off the guy by jeremiah, his coworker, and everyone was crowding around, and thats when mike had made eye contact with you. there was a confused look upon your face which he mistook for fear and disappointment. "wha-" you had mouthed, motioning to what had happened but he quickly had looked away.
you'd picked mike up from the police station that evening and he hadn't muttered a single word to you nor made eye contact with you. the car journey was silent, and when you arrived home he just got out the car and into the house. you'd sighed and gotten out the car, and walked into the house, max shared a quizzical look at you. "yeah, i dont know. thanks for watching abby though" you handed her a $30 and she said her goodbyes before leaving.
"what's wrong with mike?" abby had asked, you didn't want to tell her anything. so you told her he'd had a long day and that she should be getting ready for bed. you tucked her up in bed and left her to sleep.
the evening carried on and you wanted to let mike collect himself before you spoke to him, he needed space sometimes and you totally respected that. but by like 10pm, he was still in the room. you had knocked a few times on the door but you were met with silence. he finally emerged from the bedroom around 11pm to find you sat on the couch watching tv. "baby?" you spoke up, but he ignored you and went off into the kitchen to grab water, "mike? hello?" you'd stood up now and made your way over to him, blocking him so he couldn't walk away, he was face forward, leaning against the counter staring out into space "baby, please talk to me" mike hated how your voice sounded sad, he didn't want to make you sad.
"i'm not mad at you or anything mike, i promise, i just want you to talk to me" you said softly, walking behind him and hugging him from behind, "im not sure what happened but i promise you mike, i am not mad at you or anything like that, okay?"
"im sorry" his voice was quiet, "i just, uh, it looked like he was taking the kid y'know, and then you were there and you looked scared of me and i-"
"i could never be scared of you" you mumbled into his shoulder, pressing a kiss there "we can talk about it later, lets just go to bed yeah?"
mike nodded, and the two of you went to bed.
(its a bit shit soz<;3)

Booksmart | Steve Harrington
Tumblr media
Summary: Steve Harrington’s head may be full of air, but his heart is full of love. [4.4k]
Fluff, comfort, slight angst, insecure Steve
Steve Harrington isn’t a genius. He barely passed his classes in high school, couldn’t get into college, and can barely keep his minimum wage job. He’s been belittled by his parents too many times to care about their opinion and he knows compared to his friends he isn’t as clever or witty, but he’s okay with it - at least he thinks he is. It might sting when Robin and Eddie tease him for being too slow or when Dustin sighs in frustration because he can’t keep up, but the ache dissipates when they look at him in adoration.
He blames his failing love life on his lack of intelligence. Although girls find his himbo-ness endearing, his relationships never last long.  Most of the dates he goes on end up as dirty hookups in the backseat of his car and on the off chance a girl stays longer than a month he can slowly see the irritation replace the endearment in her eyes. He was just something to do during the inbetween phase of graduation and moving out of Hawkins, a trophy to conquer - to finally have slept with the previously known King. He used to be okay with that at the beginning, he got his needs met while girls crossed him off their list, but over time he craved more. He saw how Nancy looked at Jonathan, how Joyce laughed with Hopper, and how Robin blushed around Vickie. He was desperate for that feeling of being wanted and loved.
Even though he's surrounded by people who love and accept him as he is, he can't help but wonder if things would’ve been different if he was just a little smarter.
_
“Robin I’m telling you she started speaking a different language halfway through dinner,” Steve grumbles as he’s shelving the horror section.
Robin rolls her eyes at him, “Just because you don’t understand the words she’s using doesn’t mean she was speaking a different language, Steven. I don’t even think she knows anything but English.
Steve sighs under his breath.
He had gone on another date last night, but didn’t even make it past the appetizers before he made up an emergency and left. The night started off great, the Indiana summer evening had a cool breeze, he opened the door for her, and was rewarded with a kiss on his cheek when he presented her with  flowers. Valerie had been nice, beautiful, and smart - maybe a little too smart for Steve. Don’t get him wrong, Steve loves strong, smart, and capable women. He loved hearing Valerie speak about physics and graphing linear equations, he loved learning about what interested her, but as the night went on he could see the light in her eyes fading as he kept asking her questions. The final straw had been when he told her he hasn’t read a book since high school and she laughed lightly before saying “you really are only a pretty face.”
“Maybe, I’m just destined to be alone, or like a back up plan for girls who come back to Hawkins after giving up on their big city dreams.”
Robin sighs and gives him a reassuring pat, “Steve, you’re a good man. You’ll find your one, trust me on this.”
Before he can say more the bell jingles as a gust of hot air is let in. Steve groans as he spots Dustin’s mop of curly hair and hears the chatter of 6 other teens. He holds the door open with his arm as he sees Lucas struggling with Max’s wheelchair.
“You guys can’t keep coming in here, Robin and I actually have work to do you know.”
“We wanted to pick a movie for movie night,” Max says.
He sighs softly as he meets her eyes. Steve’s always had a soft spot for Max ever since they’ve met and it’s only gotten softer since then, everyone knows this, but the kids tend to take advantage of this and use Max to get their way.
“Alright two movies max and no rated r ones.”
As he hears the bell jingle again he starts his greeting in a monotone voice, “Welcome to Family Video, my name is St—” he chokes.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” you ask softly.
He’s still coughing and panting slightly as he tries to give you a reassuring nod. Robin makes her way to the front to hand Steve some water and finish introductions.
“What he means to say is his name is Steve and I’m Robin. You can come get us if you have any questions.”
You nod politely, finally tearing your gaze away from Steve as you start browsing through the racks. Steve, however, can’t seem to stop looking at you. He’s seen a lot of beautiful women in his life, but none of them held a candle to you. Everything about you was just perfect to him and he didn’t even know you yet. His eyes repeatedly traced the slope of your nose, down to your plush lips, and back to your furrowed eyebrows as you read the back of a tape.
You lift your head up and he blushes as you make eye contact.
“Do you have any recommendations for sci-fi, I just moved to town and need something to keep me from getting bored?” you ask shyly.
“Err- We have a sci-fi section over there” Steve points to the rack behind him where the kids are gathered and quietly arguing over which movie to pick.
You speak as you make your way over, “Yeah, but do you have any recommendations for me? I feel like I’ve seen all the good ones already.”
Steve's face falls as he tries to come up with an answer.
“Have you seen Star Wars?” Dustin speaks up
Max and El groan loudly as you shake your head.
“I tend to stay away from franchises, but what’s it about?”
Before Dustin can answer, Mike beats him to it, “It’s about galactic adventures of these characters, it’s pretty cool.”
“We were planning on watching it tonight, we always have movie nights at Steve’s on Friday. You should join us!” Dustin exclaims as he tries to shoot Steve a sly wink.
Your eyes grow wide at the sudden invitation as Steve rests his head in his hands too embarrassed to speak.
“Is that alright with you, Steve?” You ask kindly.
Steve’s breath hitches as he hears you say his name, he slowly meets your gaze as he gives you a slight nod trying to avoid choking on air again.
Robin smirks at Steve as she hands you a post-it, “Here’s Steve’s address. Movie starts at 7 and bring as many snacks as you’d like!”
You grab the post-it and shoot everyone a small wave “I’ll see you guys then!”
Steve feels like he can finally breathe after he hears the soft slam of the door behind you.
_
“I can’t believe you would do that, just invite a stranger to my home like that,” Steve groans as he fixes his hair, again, in the hallway mirror. He glances down at his polo debating if he should change his shirt for the fourth time.
“Steve, she agreed to come while seeing you in a Family Video vest, I don’t think your outfit is what you should be worried about,” Jonathan teases him as he passes him a coke.
Steve shoots him a sarcastic smile before checking his watch. It’s 7:02, you should’ve shown up 2 minutes ago and he’s a nervous wreck. He sees your headlights before anyone else does and trips over Will’s backpack as he waits to open the door on the very first knock.
“Sorry I’m late, the petit fours took longer than expected.” You smile at him holding out a large container filled with small cakes.
He gives you a confused look too embarrassed to ask what petit fours are, so instead he takes the container and waves you in.
“What brings you to Hawkins?” Eddie asks.
“I actually came here for work, Hawkins laboratory needed another scientist to look at all the crazy stuff that’s happened here.”
Everyone basks in the uncomfortable silence as you mention the lab before Nancy speaks up, “You work as a scientist? You seem pretty young.”
You hesitate slightly, folding your hands in your lap, “I am young, but I graduated college at 16 and recently got my PhD and my advisor recommended me for this job, so here I am.”
Steve’s heart falls to his stomach, you were a genius, a child prodigy of some sort and you’ve accomplished so much at such a young age. There was no way you would even be slightly interested in him, but part of him was willing to take that risk - be okay with whatever you spared him because it was better than not having you in his life at all.
The movie is ignored as everyone pays more attention to you and your genius-ness. He hears voices all at once but all he can focus on is yours. The way your laugh ends in a higher pitch than it starts in, the way you softly reassure Nancy that college isn’t hard, but his favorite is when you say his name when you ask for his opinion on the theories the kids present to you. It makes him feel important like you care about what he has to say and you value his thoughts just as much as you would anyone else’s.
Steve might’ve only met you today, but he was already enamored. You might’ve knowingly opened the door only to Family Video, but you also unknowingly opened the door to his heart and started to fill every corner of it with you.
_
Steve doesn’t think he’s read this much in his entire existence as he has this month.
The first thing he did the morning after movie night was go to the library and check out as many books as he could about everything that sounded smart. He’s inhaled almost every book on poetry (specifically Shakespeare), astrophysics and European history. You’ve come to every movie night since the first one and you try your best to visit Family Video after work just to chat with Steve and Robin. He was slowly falling in love with you and he wasn’t going to let his dumb brain be the reason he lost you. He forcefully read every book from cover to cover, prying his eyes open with the memory of your impressed smile anytime he fell asleep. He’s made countless flashcards and pesters Robin to quiz them during their shift.
After two months of revising and memorizing he thinks he finally finds the courage to ask you out. You’re the last one to leave tonight, helping Steve clean up after everyone either left or claimed a spare room.
Steve’s hands are clammy as he ties the trash bag into a pretty bow, “I was wondering if… I mean you don’t have to… but umm, like if you wanted to go out. With me, I mean.”
Your eyes trace his face as you clench the empty red vines wrapper, “You mean like a date?”
Steve nods, unsure of your reaction. Part of him hopes you’ll say no and put him out of his misery, so he can finally stop learning, but a bigger part of him hopes you’ll give him a chance.
Your lips upturn in a shy smile as you fiddle your thumbs, “Yeah, I’d like that a lot. What did you have in mind?”
“How about next Friday, we ditch the losers and have our movie night? I’ll pick you up at 7 and we can catch a movie?”
You respond with a quick kiss on his cheek as you grab your purse and head out. Steve rests his head on the back of the door as he pumps his fist in the air and tries his hardest to not  wake Robin and Eddie with his cheering.
_
You’re nervous as you pace in front of your door. Steve makes you nervous, but you don’t hate the feeling. You’ve never felt this way about a boy before, boys always had a competition with you, a majority of your dates ended up with the two of you trying to up each other with accomplishments, but with Steve everything is different. Even though the facts he tells are wrong, it was still endearing to watch him try.
You’re broken out of your thoughts with a knock on your door. You smooth down your dress and look in the mirror once more before swinging the door open. Steve stands there in all his glory, hair perfectly done, snug jeans, and a bouquet of flowers covering his stupidly handsome face.
“These are for you,” he pushes the bouquet towards you with a surprise force that you have to step back to avoid them pressing into your nose.
“Thanks Steve, they’re beautiful.” You set them down gently at the nearby table mentally making a note to find a vase after you come back home.
He opens his car door for you, waiting until you’re settled in before jogging back to his side. “There’s a French movie playing tonight, I think it’s about Marie - Annette, you know the queen who liked cake?”
You giggle quietly but opt to ignore his mistake because he just looked too fucking cute with furrowed eyebrows and a nervous smile.
“And after the movie I was thinking we can stop by somewhere for a late night snack?”
You nod excitedly eager to finally spend time with him far away from the eyes of your prying friends, “I didn’t know you knew French?”
“Uh, yeah.”
The movie was… boring and bland. Steve didn’t understand anything happening so instead spent the entire time admiring you, the furrow of your eyebrows, the tilt of your head, and the gentle bite of your lip. He remembered you mentioning to Robin that you were fluent in French, so thought a foreign film would be a good idea for a first date, but now he regrets his choice especially since you spent the drive to the diner asking him questions about the movie. Questions he didn’t know the answer to. Steve has charmed his way through life, but he wasn’t sure how much longer his charm would last with you, he had an inkling that sooner or later you would be able to see through his facade and you would see him as a disappointment.
_
You had a hunch that Steve was lying about knowing French and your hunch was confirmed when his shoulders tensed as the ticket guy told him the movie didn’t have English subtitles. He played it off with a laugh and a wave of his hand, but you could tell it made him nervous. You thought the movie was alright, but your favorite part was feeling Steve’s eyes on you. You try to be mindful when asking him questions, keeping them vague and more about opinions rather than asking him questions that have a right or wrong answer. He responds as vaguely as possible, gauging your reaction to see if you’re pleased with his answer or if he needs to backtrack and fix his opinion.
Your conversation at the diner starts to get more personal as you ask each other about your likes and dislikes. You learn that Steve broke his arm learning to ride a bike, his favorite color is green, and he’s always wanted a dog. Everything you learn about Steve just makes you like him even more and the potential of falling in love with him makes you giddy with happiness. Your hands brush occasionally as you walk back to his car. He bites his lip hesitating to grab your hand as he peeks at you from the corner of his eye. You make the decision for the both of you and take a hold of his hand swinging both your arms as he blushes.
“You’re really cute Steve Harrington,” you say as you force him to face you before gently pushing your lips to his.
_
You spend every free time you have with Steve now. It’s been a month since your first date and since then you’ve gone out plenty of times and if you’re not physically together then you’re talking for hours on the phone. Steve’s able to open up to you more than he has to anyone else and it’s only been a few months of knowing you but he knows he’s in love, yet he can’t ask you to be his girlfriend. He does everything a boyfriend should do, calling you during breaks, kissing your bad days away, and hugging you just right when you’re on the verge of tears, but he still can’t find the courage to ask you to be his, officially.
You express your concern to Nancy and Robin at an impromptu girls night, thrown together after a rough week for all of you.
“I just don’t know why he won’t ask me, I always want to ask him myself before I see him, but then I lose my nerve. Maybe he doesn’t even like me like that and I’m just reading into things,” you whine as you smear a homemade face mask on Robin's face.
“Trust me, Steve is a goner for you,” Nancy replies as she squints to make sure her brushes on the nail polish perfectly.
“Nance is right, Steve is in love with you, but you just make him nervous.”
“I don’t understand why though, how do I make him nervous when he’s Steve Harrington,” you sigh dreamily.
Nancy and Robin giggle as they see the childish frown on your face. You push your face into a pillow whining into it like a petulant child.
Nancy rubs your back gently, “Look it’s not my place to say, but Steve isn’t the smartest tool academically. And you’re this child prodigy and that makes him nervous.”
Robin nods in agreement, “Yeah, you do know he spent months reading all sorts of books just to impress you right? He isn’t actually as smart as he pretends to be. He just memorizes a bunch of stuff the days leading up to your date.”
You huff in annoyance, “Yeah, I knew that on our first date when he took me to that French film. But I don’t love him because he can tell me facts about the mesozoic era. I love him because he’s him.”
Nancy and Robin share a knowing look.
“You love him?” Robin whispers.
“What?”
“You just said you love him,” Nancy clarifies.
You breathe in deeply before letting it out, the weight of what you said finally sinking in. “Yeah, I do. I really do.”
Both girls squeal as they pull you into a hug, face masks and nail polish quickly forgotten.
You fall asleep that night knowing the next time you see Steve you’ll tell him. Tell him how much you love him and how he means to you.
_
Unfortunately for you and Steve, you aren’t able to spend any time alone lately. Work is crazy for the both of you and any time you have off it’s spent with the group. While you love spending time with your friends, you’re dying for a second alone with Steve. A second that only you both can cherish when you finally tell him how you feel.
You’re hoping you can finally catch a moment alone with Steve at the summer bonfire by Lover’s Lake. Almost every young adult in Hawkins comes out of hiding for this annual bonfire, usually thrown by college kids as a final hurrah before summer break is officially over. You hung out with Nancy and Robin for a while and meet some new people, but you’re aren’t able to find the one person you want to see. You finally spot him parking his car and hurriedly shoving his family video vest in the trunk, but before you call out to him you’re blocked by a freckled boy wearing a smug smile.
“Well if it isn’t the new genius of Hawkins,” the boy teases, voice filled with malice.
You smile politely, “I’m sorry you’re–”
“I’m Hagan. Tommy Hagan, surprised Steve hasn’t mentioned me considering we used to be the best of friends before he became a loser.”
You’ve heard about Tommy, mostly through passing from Nancy and Jonathan and based on Steve’s disgruntled face every time his name was mentioned, you decided Tommy Hagan wasn’t worth your time.
“How can I help you?” You ask in a monotone voice to show how disinterested you are.
Before Tommy can start you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist and lips brush against the side of your head. You turn to see Steve’s grimace at Tommy before his eyes soften landing on you.
“Hi hon,” he whispers gently, his left arm moving from caressing your hip to soothing the ache in your shoulder.
“Hey baby.” For a second it’s just the two of you lost in each other’s eyes, you wonder if everyone else can see how lovesick you are for Steve. Before you can whisk him away for yourself Tommy interrupts again.
“Damn, Harrington. Didn’t think I’d see you go all soft again after what Wheeler did to you.”
You rolled your eyes at the mention of Nancy. It’s been years, both Steve and Nancy were over it, being happy for each other and supporting each other as friends. Yet everyone still brought it up because they had no other dirt on Steve.
“Didn’t know you were home for the summer Tommy,” Steve replies ready to end the conversation with his former friend.
At this point you see Jonathan and Eddie glancing from their spot near the fire. Both of them looking at Steve, silently asking him if he needed them. Steve shakes his head at them and squeezes your shoulder readying to lead you away.
“Yeah, summer is the only time I have off now. Between college and my internship. It’s hard out there man, but you wouldn’t know that, would you?” Tommy smirks knowingly as he pushes Steve’s buttons. He knows college has always been a sore spot for Steve especially since he was still stuck working at Family Video.
Steve grunts in response hoping his disinterest is enough to stray Tommy away from the both of you, but with Steve’s luck Tommy turns his attention to you.
“Surprised he can keep up with a genius like you sweetheart.”
You wrinkled your nose in disgust, the term of endearment turning sour coming from a mouth other than Steve’s.
Tommy continues to go on, swaying from the few too many drinks he’s had. “Did he tell you he barely passed high school? His dad complained to mine about how much of a disappointment he turned out to be. Can’t even get a job at his dad’s firm with the brain he has.”
Steve loosens his grip around your shoulder, cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
“You’re telling me your girl hasn’t caught on to the kind of screw up you are Harrington? You sure she’s a genius, or maybe you found someone that aligns with your IQ.”
At this point everyone is watching the words fly out of Tommy’s mouth, some snickering others shooting Steve looks of pity. Tommy Hagan is ripping him to shreds in front of everyone and yet all he can focus on is you. A look of disappointment mixed with frustration glazing over your otherwise sweet disposition. He sees his friends pushing their way through the crowd but before they could defend him he hears your honey like voice calling out for Tommy.
“What university did you say you go to, Tommy?” you ask sweetly.
“Indiana University of Business,” he smirks behind his beer.
“And I’m assuming your daddy paid for it? Cause you sure as hell didn’t get into school by your merit, considering you spent most of high school with your head so far up people’s asses that you couldn’t get enough oxygen to your brain. Hence, why you and your stupid ass are still playing into high school politics at your grown ass age.”
The smugness on Tommy’s face disappears.
“And what do you want to do with your future Tommy? Join daddy’s business? Turn out exactly like him? Cause last I heard he spends more time with his new family than he does with you. Maybe he finally got a child he actually loves.”
You knew it was a low blow, bringing up Tommy’s family issues, but you couldn’t care less. After everything he said to Steve, he had it coming and you only wish you were around in high school so you could’ve put him in his place earlier.
You heard a low whistle from Eddie, “Well guess the shows over folks. And looks like we have a clear winner.”
People start clearing out going back to mind their own business and you grab Steve’s arm leading him far away from Tommy’s frozen stance.
“Guess the secret’s out,” Steve mumbles.
“Huh?”
“Now you know I’m not really smart, so..” he trails off.
You smile, arms twisting around his waist pulling him close. “You know, I’ve met a lot of smart people in my life, but don't you dare, even for a second take Tommy’s words to heart. Because I know you, and I know that you’re the greatest person I’ve ever met.”
Steve pinches your chin, holding your gaze before whispering out a shy “yeah?”
You hear the insecurity laced in his voice as you nod fervently. “I kinda figured you weren’t as smart as you let on from our first date, but I said yes because even though you aren’t a brainiac you have a heart of gold. I see the way you take care of the kids, how you take care of your friends. And I love how you take care of me. I love you and everything about you, Steve Harrington.”
Steve blushes, his cheeks turn a rosy hue as he grabs your waist pressing his lips to yours in a kiss so sweet you think you’ll get a toothache.
“You really love me?”
“I really do.”
Steve presses another kiss before murmuring out an I love you against your lips.
Yeah, Steve Harrington is stupid. Stupidly in love with you.

ANYTHING with jealous Reid <33333
HI ANON ty for the request! I hope you'll like this one 🥰❤️
Warning(s): gn!reader, profanities, jealous spencer, that's it rlly this is mainly just fluff 💞
This blurb has a part two.
This blurb was written as a part of the "Zara's Birthday Bash and Road to 1K" celebration.
Zara's Birthday Bash and Road to 1K Masterlist / Criminal Minds Masterlist
Supernovae had always been known for their extremely high temperature. Nearing the end of its life, a mature star would go through an explosion so stupendous, it would eject almost the entirety of its mass. During this stage of a star's life cycle, the core temperature of a star could potentially rise to be in the billions of degrees Fahrenheit, making it appropriate for a supernova to be credited as the hottest object ever known in the vast universe.
But as Spencer sat on the chair behind his desk, his fingers tapping impatiently on the surface, he was certain that not even the temperature of a supernova could rival the heat rising steadily inside his chest.
The flame raged unlike anything he had ever known. It flourished with every second Spencer spent staring at you from across the room. You were laughing at something your present company had said, and Spencer instinctively gripped the arm rest of his chair as the fire in his ribcage roared even wilder.
Spencer was on the edge of his seat, ready to prowl at any second, when a presence unexpectedly slid right next to him.
"What are you doing?" Emily Prentiss asked, perching herself on the edge of Spencer's desk without a care in the world.
"Nothing," the young man answered distractedly. "Can I help you?"
"I was wondering if you still had those ginger candies you shared with me last week?" Emily wondered as she began to rummage through his drawers. "Where do you keep it?"
Silently, Spencer opened his bottom drawer, pulling out a tin box where he stored the sweets Emily was looking for.
"You're an angel on earth, Dr. Reid." Emily grinned, popping a candy into her mouth. "Are you okay, by the way?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
"Because you've been throwing daggers at (Y/N) and Anderson for the past three minutes."
"I have not."
"Yes, you have."
"You're mistaken. Maybe you were just seeing things."
"Reid, you're literally glaring at them right now as we speak." At Emily's observation, Spencer begrudgingly tore his gaze away from the two people across the room. "Wanna tell me what's going on?"
"Nothing's going on. I told you," Spencer insisted, his eyes once again returning towards the pair on the other side of the bullpen. "Hey, do you know how (Y/N) and Anderson became close like that?"
"Haven't they always been friendly?"
"Friendly? Yes. But not like... that." Spencer pressed his lips, trying to contain the scowl when he saw you grip Anderson's forearm as you beamed at the other agent. "Since when does (Y/N) laugh like that with him?"
Emily flicked her eyes repeatedly between yours and Spencer's face. A smirk emerged on her lips when understanding finally dawned on her. "Oh my God, you're jealous."
Spencer didn't think he ever whipped his head so fast in his entire life.
"You're jealous of Anderson. Holy shit, that makes so much sense! You're actually jealous."
"What are you talking about? I'm not—I'm not jealous!"
"Of course you are. Why else would you get so hostile at the mere sight of those two talking?"
"I was just... asking a question. I wanted to know why they suddenly seemed so close, that's all."
"Of course you did."
"I'm telling the truth!"
"Right. Of course you are." Emily snickered. She got up from his desk and started walking away, all the while belting out a ridiculously jesty song she obviously just made up, "Spencer is jealous. J-E-A-L-O-U-S! Spencer is jealous. J-E-A-L-O-U-S!"
The young Doctor frowned at Emily's teasing. He glanced towards where you had been standing only to see you sauntering towards his direction. Spencer automatically busied himself with the random papers on his desk, acting as if he had only noticed your presence as you sat down on your desk right across from his.
"Working hard, Doctor?" you quipped jubilantly, rearranging the case files on your desk as you hummed an unfamiliar tune under your breath.
"Something like that," Spencer replied, closing the documents he wasn't even reading as his full attention landed on you. "What did Anderson want?"
"Hm? Oh, nothing. He was just asking if I was free this weekend, that's all."
Spencer unwittingly clenched his jaw at your reply. "What's this weekend?"
"A cricket game. Apparently, Grant has always been a big fan, so he was very excited when I told him I used to play back in college. Too bad I can't come to the game, though. I promised my mom I would visit her this weekend."
Spencer could merely nod at your explanation, pretending like his brain hadn't short-circuited when you referred to Agent Anderson with his first name. The fog in his head only started to dissipate when Derek called for the two of you from the bullpen doors, asking if any of you would like to join him for lunch.
"You coming, Doctor Reid?" you asked as you stood up from the chair, pocketing your phone and wallet in the process.
"Yeah, yeah, of course. I'll be right there. You guys just go ahead."
You flashed him one last bright smile before skipping all the way towards where Derek was waiting. A sense of calm washed over him when he saw you glancing back, offering a small wave in his direction. Spencer could feel the smile blooming on his face before it was soon chased away by the sight of Anderson standing by the door, holding it open as you laughed gratefully at him.
Fuck it.
It looked like Emily was right after all.

Summary: Matt has a chronic illness that the nurses at his local clinic are all too familiar with. The new nurse in town hasn't had a chance to meet him yet, but what happens when she does?
Pairing: Matt x nursefem!reader
Warnings: Mentions of needles and blood, chronic illness, use of medical steroids, flirty nurse!reader (this is all fiction!), Matt is 20/reader is 23, Matt has a service dog!!
Word Count: Just over 2k
A/N: This is lowkey inspired by the experience I had a few days ago with a flirty nurse while I was in the ER (I'm still thinking about him--had me giggling n kicking my feet n shit like I was in a rom com [this is definitely a story time]). ANYWAY, Matt has PFAPA (my chronic illness!) here. It's usually a childhood thing, but some rare cases like myself don't grow out of it. You can read more about it here, if you'd like. Enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Matt Sturniolo is all too familiar with his local pediatric emergency room. In fact, he’s been there so many times that the nurses have started to treat him as less of a patient, and more of a friend. “Hey Matt!”, “How’s YouTube going, Matt?”, “I remember you!”,  “I saw you last time!”, and the list went on. Some might ask why he still went there at almost 21, but when you had a chronic illness, it was best to see the people who had been caring for you for years if you could. These nurses had been caring for him at least once a month, ever since he was 12, and were usually quite skilled in how to manage the brunette’s comfort.
Matt had PFAPA, which left him with high fevers and extremely sore, almost strep like sore throats every month. It was a miserable thing to live, and it really impacted his happiness, especially on days like today when he was having one of the worst flare ups he’d had in a long time and both Nick and Chris were unable to come along with him to the doctor. Luckily for Matt, he had his service dog, Emily, with him, but he still longed for a human companion as well. While some people wondered why he ‘needed’ a service dog, Matt’s disability was invisible. Emily would let him know when his flare ups were starting as well as laying on him to soothe his body aches and chills and helping with his anxiety at doctor visits.
The nurse tech took him into the back rather quickly, running their usual tests of strep, the flu, and COVID. About 98% of the time, they would all come back negative, but the hospital staff liked to do all they could to make Matt more comfortable. Sure enough, the nurse practitioner stepped in about 30 minutes later, a sad look on her face.
“How are you feeling, Matt?”
Matt shrugged, grimacing as his throat ached when he swallowed. “‘M not great.” he murmured, petting his pup’s head softly as the anxiety welled in his chest.
“Well, everything came back negative,” she told, a sad look on her face. “We can test you for mono, though. You have a lot of the symptoms for that. That one is a blood test. We’re also going to give you an IV since you’re dehydrated.”
That sentence alone made him want to cry. Despite the tattoos and piercings he had, Matt hated medical needles. They hurt and they freaked him out. Sensing his anxiety, Emily scooted closer to Matt, whining softly and butting his leg with her head. Matt pet the dog’s head softly, steadying himself to get his breath. “Okay…” he breathed, steadying himself.
The nurse practitioner patted his leg gently, hurrying out of the room to attend to her other patients. Matt began to panic, his breathing rapidly increasing as tears welled in his eyes. He didn’t want any of this. He just wanted them to tell him what was wrong so he could get some meds, go home, and sleep. Patting the bed he was laying on gently, Emily hopped up, curling into Matt’s side. The pooch rested her head on her owner’s chest, subconsciously working to slow the brunette’s heart rate.
A few minutes later, another nurse and a lab tech stepped into the small room he was in, holding a tray full of supplies. Matt squeezed his eyes shut tightly at the sight, already dreading the feeling of getting blood drawn. Both healthcare workers were very kind, of course, whispering soft nothings to him as they patted his leg and prepared to draw his blood. They promised him that the procedure would be quick and easy, but those words never mixed well with a chronic illness.
“Your vein rolled because you’re dehydrated. We’re going to have to draw from your other arm.” the lab tech informed him.
“O…kay.” Matt whispered shakily, trying to get his breath and the feeling in his hand back.
The brunette knew that it was okay to cry, but that didn’t make it any less embarrassing. He was a grown man, laying here in a kid’s hospital room, trying not to cry while they tried to draw his blood again in his right arm. Unfortunately for Matt, the dehydration he was experiencing from his extremely sore throat caused his vein to roll again.
“Oh sweetheart,” the nurse said sympathetically, patting his leg. “We’re going to give you a minute, okay? Let’s get some water and Gatorade in you before we try again.”
Matt just nodded as he was passed a mini water bottle and a cherry Gatorade. He was hearing their words, but honestly, he didn’t care. All he knew was that he was going to be poked and prodded again, and he didn’t like it. Emily snuggled into his side, whining softly and brushing her sandpaper tongue against her owner’s arm, trying desperately to get Matt to feel better.
“Alright, honey,” the sweet, older nurse stepped into Matt’s room again, holding a fresh tub of supplies to draw his blood. “Let’s try it in your left hand, okay?”
Because chronic illness never made things easy, the third time was still a failure, leaving Matt with an already bruising hand and tears pricking his eyes. Before he knew it, he was being shoved a packet of goldfish crackers, a popsicle, and more water, being informed that he had to eat before they could try again. The snacks felt like swallowing shrapnel, making the boy cringe every time he had to swallow.
“Hello, oldest patient of the day!” You cheered, practically walking into Matt’s room on a cloud of glitter.
Matt jumped in shock, petting his dog’s head to calm his racing heart. “...hi…” he mumbled.
“They called me in for backup,” You explained, a smile on your face. You absolutely loved nursing, and every day at your job truly felt like a gift. You’d graduated from nursing school last year at the top of your class and had been working in the pediatric emergency room ever since. It wasn’t every day that you had a patient who was 20, but you didn’t mind. “We’re getting this blood draw this time so you can get the fuck out of here,” You slapped a hand over your mouth. “Shit, I’m sorry. I hope you don’t mind if I curse.”
For the first time all day, a small giggled made its way out of Matt’s mouth. “No, I’m okay.”
“I see you have a buddy,” You commented. “That’s nice.”
“She helps my…anxiety.” Matt seemingly chose his words carefully, but they still made you smile. It was clear that the boy had a bond with his pup.
“I’m gonna look at your tonsils first so we can get you some medicine to help you swallow and then we’ll draw your blood, okay?” You asked, wanting to make sure your patient was comfortable with everything.
At the mention of a blood draw, Matt’s blue eyes widened with anxiety, his body becoming visibly tense. You had become in tune with this, sliding on a pair of pink latex gloves and patting the soft material of the pajama pants on his knee.
“Hey, look at me,” You murmured softly, waiting for his response. Once Matt had looked at you, you chugged on. “We’re just chilling, okay? I’m not going to do anything yet.”
Matt nodded, letting out an anxious breath he’d been holding. “Okay.” he whispered.
You grabbed the flashlight to look in his throat off the wall. “Alright, I’m pretty sure you know the drill,” You chuckled. “Open and say ‘ahhh!’...oh yeah, you’ve got an icky throat. That looks like it hurts. Although…did you have a blue popsicle? You’ve got blue tonsils. It’s rather endearing.”
Matt flushed, his ears going red as he nodded. You smiled softly, throwing away the cap and hanging the flashlight back on the wall. You gave the boy the steroidal liquid the nurse practitioner had drawn up for him to ease the swelling in his throat, a blush creeping onto your face as Matt scrunched his eyes up at the disgusting taste, quite literally making grabby hands for his Gatorade.
“Fuck, that’s gross.” he whined.
“At least you got it over with!” You hummed cheerfully, in a small aim to make him feel better. “Unfortunately, it’s time for the bad part, but we can make it a little less shitty if you want? Maybe you could play me some music? Something you like, okay?”
Matt fiddled with his phone for a moment before landing on Dominic Fike’s latest release. You smiled at the lyrics, releasing this was one of your favorite songs at the moment. You prepped the materials needed to finally get Matt’s blood drawn for the mono test, patting his knee gently in an effort to calm his trembling frame as he rubbed his pup’s head.
“Hey, can I tell you something?” You whispered shyly, setting him up for the procedure. “You’ve got goldfish in your teeth–it’s really cute.” You giggled, your own cheeks becoming red.
The brunette whined, breathing deeply as you began to draw his blood. “That’s embarrassing.” he grunted.
A few deep breaths and small, sad noises later, you had finally gotten the sample needed. “We got it!” You told Matt excitedly, placing a Barney band aid across the site. “All done!”
You bustled around the room, making sure Matt was comfortable, throwing away your supplies, and making notes on your clipboard. You helped the boy drink water and got him (and Emily) a blanket, before taking his samples down to the lab to get checked out. By the time everything was said and done, an hour had passed and Matt was asleep against the small bed when you knocked on his door.
“Hey sleepyhead,” You giggled, stepping into the room. “Nice nap?” Matt fisted his eyes, nodding as you went over his discharge instructions. You always hated releasing patients with no explanations or answers as to why they felt so bad, but in cases like Matt’s, that wasn’t always possible. Your best bet was to make him as comfortable as possible here. “Do you have any questions?”
The brunette shook his head, finally able to speak now that the steroids were beginning to work their magic on his throat. “No, but thank you. You’ve been the best nurse I’ve had all day…maybe even ever.”
You blushed at the compliment, helping the boy stand since you knew he was already exhausted, dehydrated, and lightheaded from having his blood drawn. “Do you need help getting to your car? I actually just got off.” You murmured shyly, glancing at the clock on the wall.
Despite Matt’s steadiness on his feet and his grip on Emily’s leash, the blue-eyed boy nodded all the same, a quietly flustered look crossing his face. You smiled yourself, maneuvering Matt out to his car with a firm, yet gentle hand on his lower back. Thankfully, the waiting room had quieted down quite a bit now that it was nearing the evening, so no one questioned or pulled you away from walking Matt out. It was a slow trek with your patient being a bit unsteady on his feet, but you didn’t mind. Matt’s presence made you happy in an odd sort of way; you hated that he wasn’t well and that this would continue to happen for him, but you couldn’t stop your mind from thinking about seeing him again.
“I um…I hope this isn’t weird, but I would really like to see you again. Maybe another time? When you’re not in pain?” You coughed and chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of your neck.
He smiled as he slid into the driver’s seat, rubbing his aching head that was seemingly getting better just by being around you. “I’d like that,” he offered. “I’d like that a lot, actually.”
Matt didn’t end up leaving his trip to the hospital with many answers beside the usual ‘It’s your chronic illness’, but what he did end up leaving with was your phone number scribbled onto a pink sticky note that he had been given in the parking lot.

Always dancing when you’re around • Ana Maria Crnogorčević
Hidden moments with Ana whilst your relationship is hidden from the public, until it isn’t not more. This fic is requested!
Tumblr media
“You’ve had too much to drink.” Ana giggled as you cling onto her arms, stumbling around with a cheeky grin on your face.
“We just won the best trophy, EVER!” You exaggerate, grabbing Patri’s hand. “MVP MVP MVP.” You began to chant, the rest of the team joining in.
You hiccuped and held onto Ana’s waist to keep you stood up right. She was the sober one, not a fan of drinking, but you had taken this opportunity to drink and oh did you drink…
“Baby, I feel all fizzy.” You held onto her, sliding your arms around her waist to keep you on your feet.
“Fizzy?” She chuckled. “Y/N/N, do you mean dizzy?”
You hummed and giggled, looking up at her. “Kiss me” You bit your lip, you hands rubbing at her sides.
“That I can do.” Your girlfriend smirks, leaning down to break the height barrier and kissing you softly until you pull away for a breath of air.
“You taste like cola” You tell her, dropping your head on her chest.
Later that night you were laying in bed with Ana, you were dead to the world as you were slotted between the taller girls strong thighs, your head on her chest.
She scrolled through her Instagram feed, clicking on Claudia’s story to see a video of Patri and Cata doing shots, what Claudia didn’t realise is that she had also captured yours and Ana’s heated moment in the back of the video which had now been posted for the world to see.
And that’s where the talking started. You and Ana had almost been dating a year when the first idea of you as a couple had popped into the public eye, and the fans went crazy for it.
-
When the full time whistle blows, you shake hands with the Switzerland team. Your eyes however only looking for one person. Your person.
"Y/N!" You turn around and see Ana calling you over, stood with Mariona and Lia.
"Hey" You smile softly, just wanting to wrap your arms around the taller girl and tell her how sorry you are.
Spain beat Switzerland 5-1 to advance to the quater finals. You were happy for your team but the feeling was bittersweet as you knocked your girlfriend out of the tournament.
"I'm sorry." You smile sadly with a few tears pricking in your eyes, you didn't like to see Ana sad and knowing you scored 2 against her makes it worse.
"Don't be sorry my love." She puts an arm around you and you hug her gently, being careful with your actions as your relationship is well and truly kept out of the public eye.
You tug on the bottom of her jersey as you pull away from each other. "Can we swap?"
"Of course!" She smiles through her tears, pulling her shirt off and swapping with you.
You keep control of yourself to not look at her with the eyes that are kept away from the rest of the world. Mariona nudged you and giggled when she saw you trying hard to look away from Ana's body.
"I wish we didn't have to do that." You frown, looking at her sad eyes. "I just want to hug you so bad right now." You breathe out.
"Me too, but not here, love." Ana looks at you with her loving eyes, the ones filled with adoration saved especially for you. "I'll find you inside." she promises.
You nod as you continue to chat for a while, until Alexia comes over and tells you that the national team staff have asked for everyone to come into the changing room to get ready to head back to the hotel as you had a flight to catch.
-
Once you'd changed back into your travel wear you put Ana's jersey into your own bag to keep it with you so it wasn't to get lost with the luggage for the kitman.
You waited outside the Swiss changing room with Mariona, turning your head everytime the door opened.
Finally Ana emerged alongside a few of her teammates that you didn't know too well. She told them that they should go off ahead and that she would catch them up, wanted a few minutes with her 'club teammates'.
Mariona turned her back to keep watch for Vilda or any of the other spanish staff that would put an end to the meeting.
"I love you so much." You whispered as Ana held you close, rubbing her hands up your sides as she kissed you softly. "Keep messaging me everyday, even when you go back to Switzerland?" You ask, holding her hands in yours and fiddling with her ring, the ring you have the matching bracelet too.
"I'll message you everyday sweetheart." She kissed your forehead. "Go show the world what a true star you are yeh? I've seen the running for Golden boot. Your in the lead." She smirks. "I want the trophy on the shelf above the bed. Next to the photo of us on the beach."
"I'll try my hardest." You nod, going on tiptoes again to kiss her, melting into each others touch but being broken apart when Mariona coughs, the signal to tell you to split because someone was close by.
Ana presses one more kiss onto your mouth. "I could kiss you forever." She whispers. "I'll see you soon."
-
On the bus to the airport you sit besides Mariona. You could say you were best friends but she was more like your sister.
"What's the address for the base camp hotel?" You lift your head up from her shoulder.
"Um, it's on my phone somewhere. Sent it to Laia the other day. Why?"
"Ana just asked. Said she wants to send something." You shrug your shoulders a little to say you didn't know much more than that. "Can you send her it from yours?"
She nods.
"Thank you."
You rest your head back onto her shoulder and scroll through social media.
Someone had been keen to spying out the events between you and Ana after the game as photos and videos had made it to Twitter already.
Under a photo of you swapping shirts there were loads of comments saying 'Aww' and 'Barca friends!' but a few fans weren't silly and they knew what they were looking at.
One comment said: 'Reason 1482 to why I think they're dating! Watch Mariona giggling at Y/N when Ana takes off her shirt!🤣'
You smirked to yourself and slipped your phone away, trying to get a bit of sleep before the plane ride.
-
Why Ana wanted the team hotel address all came clear a few days later when a parcel turned up for you.
"Y/N, a package!" Vilda calls you over after a training session, handing you the brown box.
"Thank you."
You take the box up to your room and put it on the bed. "What did you order?" Mariona asks, laying on her bed in your shared room.
"Nothing" You tell her, using a pen to stabbed at the tape to open it up. "I think it's from Ana."
You open the box to see one of her hoodies, one she took back from you after you'd 'borrowed' it from her in the first place. You smile as you lift it up and put it onto the bed, seeing her Barca shorts from a few seasons back with '18' on the leg of them. She knew you loved to wear her old Barca stuff around the apartment and for bed sometimes.
You find a beaded bracelet with the letter of your name on, another with an A too. A small note telling you that she has the matching ones.
"You two make me sick, your so soppy." Mariona teases, flopping back the bed.
Rummaging through your bag you pull out your phone and try to call her. It goes to answer phone a few times then you realise she must still be travelling home to Switzerland.
Instead, you decide to leave her a message.
You
I love you Ana. Call me when you land, I miss your voice. ❤️
-
Spain get knocked out by the Netherlands and your on your flight home when you see the message you’ve been waiting for pop up on your phone.
Ana 👅👅
Flying back to Barca tomorrow morning babygirl, I’ll crash at yours and pick you up from airport xx
You giggle at the name of her contact, remembering when she had changed the name one evening on the bus home from an away game. You hadn’t changed it back.
-
The day after you arrive back in Spain, Ana packs your bags and takes you out for the day. All secrets. That’s what she told you.
She drives down the main road and you wonder where you are going to, she only told you it was a trip. The beach? A night further down the coast line of Spain?
“The airport.” You look at her, half excited and half very confused.
“I’m taking you away for a trip to my home. For our anniversary.” She smiles, looking very incredibly pleased with herself.
“Switzerland?!” You gasp a little, having wanted to visit Ana’s home country for so long.
-
The plane ride dragged a little, having only been home for less than 24 hours.
You got through customs and collected your bags, deciding to get a coffee to help keep you awake.
“Here” You pass Ana her coffee, taking a sip of yours before screwing your face up. “Oh my god, that’s fucking rank.” You whisper, keeping your voice down with the language you chose to use.
Ana chuckled, taking your coffee and switching it with hers. “Have this one.”
“Thank you, bebita” You used the spanish pet name she loved so much.
You stared into her eyes a little too long and you were snapped out of it when two teen girls came rushing over.
“Hi! We are big Barcelona fans, could we get a picture?” The tallest girl asks.
“Your my favourite player!” The smaller girl tells you.
You take selfies with them and sign their phone case before they rush off back to wherever they appeared from.
-
Within minutes your phone was blowing up with mentions and tags on your social medias. Photos of you and Ana sharing coffee and looking at each other with loving eyes had been stuck on the internet. Typical.
Comments:
- OMG THEY’RE SO CUTE
- They are defo dating!!!!!
- Y/N is wearing Ana’s jacket!! Look 3 posts ago on her feed - it’s the same one!
- WHERE IS THIS? 😱😱
“Hmmm, they know.” Ana mumbles into your hair, her chin resting on the top of your head.
“We did well keeping it quiet for so long”
-
You trip in Switzerland was almost over, one day left before you had to fly back to Barcelona.
“I want to post something.” Ana breaks you out of your thought as you search through the suitcase to find your pyjamas.
“Post what?” You look at her, finding the shorts you were after and getting changed.
“Us.. for today, our anniversary. One year is a big deal Y/N”
You nod, looking at her. “If your okay with that then I’m cool with it too.” You smile.
Ana took her phone out and made an Instagram post with a caption:
One year with my favourite girl❤️‍🩹
In the post she attached a few photos and videos along with it.
1. A photo of you walking up ahead, climbing a mountain in Switzerland.
2. A video of you both dancing in the changing room after the champions league final. Ana had put her arms around you and forced you to dance in the middle of the locker room.
3. A photo of you both with the UWCL trophy on the pitch after the match.
4. A photo of you asleep in bed, a blanket covering you and a sleep mask with false lashes she had stuck on the top to make it look funny.
5. A video of Ana giving you a piggy back on the beach. Keira had taken this video on a double date with her and Lucy.
6. A photo of you in each others jerseys after the world cup match, Mariona and Lia stood at your sides too after they had switched as well.
7. A photo of you asleep on Ana as she tried to read a book, your head nestled into her neck.
8. A photo of you and Ana on the beach. You had your hands over your breasts, as you had stripped from you bikini top, and sunglasses on your head. Ana sat behind you and peering over your shoulder making a silly face.
9. A video of you dancing in the rain outside the stadium in Germany at your game against Bayern.
10. A picture of you both kissing in the club after the UWCL win.
You smiled as the tag came up on your Instagram feed, reposting the post onto your story with the video of you dancing in the rain.
Giggling as you wrote a cheesy caption with
‘Always dancing your around 😘’

i hate accidents except when we went from friends to this.
kiss me once ‘cause you know i had a long night, kiss me twice ‘cause it’s gonna be all right, three times ‘cause i’ve waited my whole life
Steve’s phone buzzes in his pocket. He’s technically not supposed to have it on the floor, but it’s 9:30 on a Wednesday night and the store’s dead anyway.
Eddie 🎸👎: date’s a dud engage emergency protocol immediately 🚨🚨🚨
Steve rolls his eyes and clicks the little phone icon near Eddie’s name.
“Hello?” Eddie manages to sound both confused and concerned.
“Help, help,” Steve deadpans, leaning his elbows on the counter. “I’m having an emergency that only you can help me with.” Steve’s done this enough times in the three years they’ve lived together to know that Eddie can think up his own lie to tell his date.
“Oh my god, I’ll be right there, Steve.”
Steve’s not sure how Eddie manages to make it sound so convincing every time, but it’s enough that even Steve might start to believe it if he wasn’t the one calling.
Eddie hangs up without saying goodbye, probably to tell his date some exaggerated story about how Steve’s fallen in the shower or fell off a ladder. Somehow, all Eddie’s emergency scenarios involve Steve hurting himself in increasingly embarrassing ways.
By the time Steve’s got the store tidied and closed and walked the four blocks to their apartment, Robin and Eddie are already on the couch in the living room. Steve can hear them bickering over what to watch from the front hallway as he slips off his shoes and shrugs out of his jacket. He follows the sound of their voices to find them practically wrestling over the remote.
“Jesus, can’t leave you two alone for more than five minutes. You’re worse than the kids,” Steve says as he makes his way across the room and into the kitchen for a bag of chips. It wasn’t the healthiest dinner, but he was too exhausted to cook.
“There’s leftovers from the diner in the fridge,” Eddie calls out to him, not even missing a beat as he pries the remote from Robin’s white-knuckled grip.
“You took leftovers on a first date?” Robin asks him, appalled, as if it’s the most unheard of thing Eddie’s ever said.
Steve’s popping the styrofoam container into their tiny microwave as Eddie tells her, “It was a second date for your information.” He puts on an episode of Ghost Adventures without asking anyone’s input.
“Wow, someone made it past your rigorous first date interview? Shocker.” Robin crosses her arms and huffs in annoyance, because she was also going to put on Ghost Adventures but it’s the principle of the thing. You just don’t take a woman’s remote from her, under any circumstance.
“Hey, it’s imperative for me to suss out a potential partner’s commitment to the music gods,” Eddie says.
“‘Potential partners’?” Robin scoffs. “I thought you said you were in your slut era?”
“Well,” Eddie seems to lose his footing here. “I am. But I can’t be fucking anyone who listens to Tame Impala.”
“Steve listens to Tame Impala.”
Steve has made it back into the living room in time to see the blush rise on Eddie’s cheeks.
“Good thing I’m not fucking Steve then, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, good thing.” Even Steve can hear the eye roll in Robin’s voice.
Because the thing was…
Okay, so the thing is…
The long and short of it is that they’re not fucking.
But they’re also, like. Not not fucking.
It’s just that sometimes, after a horrible date or a stressful day or even just when they’re feeling incredibly horny, the apartment can feel kind of lonely, even with two roommates. So. They… do stuff. Together. No penetration, but. Yeah. Enough for it to be called ‘fucking,’ probably. At least Steve thinks so.
But they haven’t told Robin. They’re both pretty sure she suspects. She’s not a fucking idiot and Steve thinks someone living under the same roof as Steve and Eddie would have to be in order to be that oblivious. Steve’s pretty sure she’s been trying to get one or the other of them to confess, but they’ve held strong so far. It’s not that they were hiding it, exactly. It was just that, whenever this thing inevitably came to an end or imploded on them both, they didn’t want to have to explain it to anyone. At least that was what Steve was thinking, because it’s not like they actually talk about it.
Neither of them say anything else, so Steve makes an attempt to change the subject.
“So what did you tell your date this time?” He asks Eddie before shoveling a forkful of reheated pasta into his own mouth.
Eddie smirks. “I told him you cut off the tip of your finger with your crafting scissors while you were scrapbooking and then passed out from the sight of the blood and hit your head on the corner of the coffee table.”
Steve pauses with his fork halfway between the takeout container and his mouth.
“I thought these emergencies were supposed to be believable.”
“I’ve literally walked in on you scrapbooking multiple times, Stevie,” Eddie says it like he’s stating the obvious.
“I could never cut through my fingers with my crafting scissors.”
“Oh, that’s what you take issue with about that lame-ass scenario?” Robin scoffs again.
“There’s nothing wrong with scrapbooking,” Steve says defensively.
“Didn’t say there was,” Robin mutters, turning her attention back to the TV. “Can you guys shut up now? I’m trying to watch my stories.”
Steve rolls his eyes and shares a look with Eddie before doing as Robin says and shutting the fuck up. He drops down into the lone armchair to finish his leftover diner food, attention fixed on the television. He thinks he can feel it every time Eddie’s eyes dart over to look at him.
~*~
Later, after Eddie’s snuck into his bed around one a.m. and they’re laying there next to each other in the afterglow, Steve asks, “So the date really sucked?”
Eddie sighs. “I mean, he was nice and all, but there just wasn’t any, like… chemistry or whatever. You know what I mean?”
“Yeah,” Steve responds, his voice low. Steve hadn’t been on a date in months, hadn’t felt the usual impulse to flirt with strangers incessantly. Robin kept saying he was in a lull or a slump or something, but Steve does start to feel lonely sometimes, especially when Robin is out with her girlfriend and Eddie has a date and he’s left to his own devices in their shared apartment. Even though, more often than not lately, Eddie’s dates almost always end in “emergency protocol” and the two of them wind up tangled in Steve’s sheets. Steve can’t help but think that it’s only a matter of time before all of this comes to an end, before Eddie finds someone who’s perfect for him.
Someone who isn’t Steve.
~*~
Three days later, Steve and Eddie wake up to the blaring honk of Steve’s alarm, wrapped around each other. Steve can’t help but notice the way Eddie looks when he’s just woken up, soft and rumpled, hair a tangled mess on top of his head.
“Ugh, make it stop,” Eddie groans, scrubbing a hand down his face, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
Steve slams his hand down on his alarm clock and flops back onto his pillows, even though he really should be getting up for work. He wraps a hand around the back of Eddie’s neck before dropping a kiss to his forehead and pulling him back to lie against his chest.
“Don’t wanna get up yet,” Steve mutters, eyes falling shut again. The blankets are warm and soft and the weight of Eddie on his chest is enough to have him drifting back into sleep.
Eddie doesn’t let him though. Instead, he plants his palm on Steve’s chest and pushes himself upright, making Steve groan in dissatisfaction.
“Gotta get up, dude,” Eddie tells him, yawning and climbing out from under the covers to pull on his discarded sleep pants. “Got, like, seven engines to fix today. Something about spring, man, everyone’s car starts to break down.” Eddie pulls his t-shirt over his head before opening Steve’s door and sticking his head out, making sure the coast is clear.
Eddie leaves the door slightly open and crosses back to Steve’s bed, planting a kiss on Steve’s cheek, like he just can’t help himself.
“Won’t get off until late and then I have a date, so keep your phone at the ready,” Eddie smiles when he says it and Steve wants to trace his dimples with his tongue.
“Coming home first?”
“Nah, just gonna shower at the gym next door,” Eddie stretches. “See ya later, Stevie.” And then he’s out the door and slipping quickly into his own room down the hall.
Steve doesn’t like the way Eddie’s bedroom door sounds as it clicks shut.
~*~
Steve has the early shift at the store, so when he gets home in the late afternoon with two bags of groceries, he’s got the apartment to himself. Robin’s spending her weekend off with Vickie and Eddie’s still at work before heading off to his date.
Steve puts his groceries away, makes himself an early dinner, and then positions himself in front of the TV. He puts his phone face up on the coffee table, so he’ll see it when Eddie texts him to get out of his date.
He gets lost in the Real Housewives of Wherever for hours before he remembers he’s supposed to be keeping an eye on his phone. He taps the screen and sees there are no notifications. That’s weird. It’s already well past nine; Eddie usually texts by now for a rescue.
Steve sits back on the couch, eyes on his phone where it sits on the coffee table in front of him. He watches it for a few long moments, willing it to ring.
It doesn’t.
~*~
Hours later, Steve wakes up to the front door slamming shut. His face feels plastered to the leather of their second-hand couch. He knows it’s Eddie coming through the door because he’s the only one of them that lets it slam when it closes.
Steve reaches for his phone, still on the coffee table where he’s left it. He taps the screen and sees that it’s already after two in the morning. Eddie comes into the living room and seems surprised to see him on the couch.
“You’re still up?” He asks, eyebrows pulling together.
“You didn’t call,” Steve tries to make it sound casual, but even he hears the accusation in his own voice.
“Uh yeah. No. He was, uh. Kinda cool, actually,” Eddie smiles to himself and it looks so soft and sweet in the dim light of TV. Steve feels his chest go hollow seeing it. He swallows.
“Well,” Steve clears his throat. “That’s great.”
“Wanna hang out?” Eddie asks. Steve’s not sure if he means hang out or hang out, but either way, Steve can’t bring himself to say yes.
“Nah.” He yawns. “Early shift tomorrow.” It’s a lie, but who can blame him?
Steve gets up off the couch and crosses the room before Eddie can say anything.
“Oh, sure,” Eddie mutters as Steve brushes past him on his way into the hallway. “Goodnight, Stevie.”
Steve feels his throat constrict, like he might cry if Eddie says anything else. He clears his throat again. “‘Night,” he returns, before he shuts his bedroom door behind him.
~*~
Steve stews in it for a couple of days. He’s annoyed and grumpy and even Robin starts avoiding him after he snaps at her one too many times for no reason. He’s avoiding Eddie, but he suspects that Eddie is also avoiding him.
Which is absurd. It’s not like Steve changed the rules. He’s not the one who changed their routine. Who went on a date with someone else and enjoyed it.
That thought gives Steve pause because that’s not what this is, is it? He’s aware that he’s not very good at keeping his emotions out of his sex life. He knows he gets too attached too soon. But Eddie is his friend. You’re supposed to have emotions for your friends. You’re supposed to hate everyone they date. You’re supposed to want to spend all your time with them. Right?
Fuck. Fuck. Steve is maybe out of his depth here.
By Tuesday night, he has no choice but to go to Robin.
“I fucked up,” he says without preamble, walking into her room without knocking and flopping face first onto her unmade bed. She just watches him from where she sits at her desk in front of her laptop. Eddie has a late night band practice after work, so they’ve got the place to themselves.
“Yeah, how?” She asks.
“I… am not sure. But I feel bad.” Steve is practically whining at this point.
“Can I tell you what I think without you getting mad at me?” Robin’s tone is cautious in a way that it hardly ever is with Steve.
“When do I ever get mad?” Steve scowls at her, the side of his face smooshed into her pillow so he can see her.
“Gee, I wonder.” Robin rolls her eyes. “You’ve been testy since Saturday, babe.”
Steve huffs but it’s not like he can deny it, exactly.
“Whatever, I’m in a bad mood,” he grumbles, picking at a thread on her comforter.
“Yeah, and why do you think that is?” Robin’s question sounds decidedly pointed.
“I dunno. Full moon or something. Something’s in retrograde, probably.”
Robin sighs. “Look, I’m going to say something to you and I want you to just listen and synthesize the information, okay? Just shut up.” Steve grunts and Robin clearly takes that for assent. “I think that you’re in love with Eddie.”
She says it so matter-of-factly that Steve sits straight up on her bed so he can look at her fully. His eyes dart to her open door. “What?” He practically spits out.
Robin rolls her eyes again. “Yeah, whatever. I know I’m not supposed to know about the… whatever you want to call it. But you guys aren’t exactly subtle. Or quiet.” Steve’s jaw falls open. “I know you’ve been fooling around for months. And you haven’t had to figure out your feelings for each other because you haven’t been dating at all and every date Eddie’s been on he’s sabotaged himself. And now he’s had a great date and you’re feeling threatened, obviously. You’re jealous, Steve.”
Steve just looks at her for a moment, before saying, “I actually hate you so much.” He looks back over toward her open door. “Did he say it was a great date?”
“Ugh, you’re pathetic.” Robin balls up a piece of paper and throws it at him, before turning serious. “Just tell him, Stevie. I’m pretty sure he’s into you just as much as you’re into him. You should see the way he stares at your ass when he thinks no one’s looking. It’s truly disgusting.”
Steve throws the ball of paper back at Robin, hitting her squarely in her forehead.
~*~
Steve locks himself in his room for the rest of the night, obsessing over what Robin has told him. He tosses and turns all night thinking about it. He’s vaguely aware of the door slamming as Eddie comes in from band practice around midnight and he thinks that maybe Eddie might linger just a little longer outside Steve’s door, but he doesn’t knock. Just pauses before he moves on to his own room.
Steve wakes up late the next morning. He has to rush through his morning routine and by the time he makes it to the kitchen for breakfast, both Robin and Eddie have left for the day. Luckily, Steve has a midday shift, so he has a bit of time before he has to leave for the store. He leans against the counter, spooning cereal into his mouth. As he places his dirty bowl and spoon in the sink to clean after work, his eyes get caught on the whiteboard they have hanging on the fridge.
Second date tonight, keep phone handy -E
Steve feels his heart start beating fast, almost erratically. His fingertips go numb. He licks his lips and leaves the kitchen, slipping on his shoes and jacket and leaving for work.
~*~
Steve comes home to an empty apartment. Robin has some study group and Eddie has his date. Steve can’t help but feel a little depressed as he walks through the door to nothing but quiet.
He makes himself dinner. He puts something on the television. He places his phone face-up on the coffee table, just in case.
It doesn’t light up with a notification until well after nine. It’s a phone call. From Eddie.
Steve fumbles his phone as he lunges to pick it up.
“Hey,” he says into his phone’s speaker. “Thought you had a date.”
“Yeah,” Steve can tell Eddie’s smiling, even though he can’t see him. “Was wondering if you had some kind of emergency to tell me about?”
“Um.” Steve is confused. This isn’t the normal script. He’s supposed to call Eddie. Not the other way around. “I don’t. Know? I mean. Yeah. I… need you?”
“On my way, Stevie.” And then he hangs up.
~*~
Steve’s paused the TV and is sitting on the living room couch in silence by the time he hears the door slam shut. He looks up as Eddie walks into the room.
“Hey,” Eddie greets him, voice low. “Haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Yeah, been… busy.” Steve inwardly cringes at how he sounds, knows it’s a lame excuse, because Eddie knows him. He knows why he hasn’t seen Steve.
“Right,” Eddie smirks. “So… can we talk?”
“Sure, whatever.” Steve tries to sound casual, thinks he misses it by about a mile.
Eddie sits in the armchair instead of next to Steve on the couch. Steve tries not to take it as an insult.
“I was on a really good date tonight, Stevie,” Eddie tells him, voice soft and slow, like he’s breaking bad news to Steve. Steve’s heart clenches in chest, hard and painful. He nods, eyes on everything but Eddie. “He was cool and funny and actually had good taste in music.” Steve’s not exactly sure he really needs to hear this. “But…”
Steve feels a small flutter of hope in the pit of his stomach. “But?” He prompts, still not looking at Eddie.
“But.” Steve can tell from his tone that Eddie’s smiling again, that same smile he’d heard on the phone. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you. About sitting here watching dumb reality shows with your arm around me. Waiting for your call even though I hadn’t texted you.”
Steve’s eyes snap to Eddie’s. He licks his lips. “What.” He doesn’t say it like a question.
“I wanted to be with you, Stevie. Always wanna be with you.” Eddie looks nervous now. He pulls at a rip in his jeans. “Do you… what do you think about that?”
“I, uh.” Steve’s mouth is suddenly dry, voice just a little hoarse. “I think it’s… good.”
“Good?” Eddie snorts. “You think it’s good? Gonna need a little more here, Steve.” Eddie still looks a little nervous, but his smile is starting to form again.
“Yeah, like. Really good.” Steve licks his lips again. “I always wanna be with you, too,” he adds softly.
“Yeah?” Eddie asks, and he sounds vulnerable in a way that Steve’s never really heard before. He’s fully smiling again, small and soft, like maybe he can’t believe his luck.
Steve smiles back at him. “Yeah.”
And then they don’t say anything at all. Eddie crosses the small space between them and tackles Steve back against the couch. Their lips meet, soft at first. Then Steve let’s out a moan, opens his mouth under Eddie’s and the kisses turn decidedly less soft and more horny.
~*~
The next morning, Steve’s phone dings on his bedside table. He reaches over to read the screen.
Queen Robbie✨💕: love that u guys have figured ur shit out, but can we work out a system or something? i heard u [redacted] and then [redacted] and also [redacted]
Steve smiles before dropping his phone back on his bedside table and turning over in his bed. He pulls a sleeping Eddie into his arms and drops a tiny kiss to the back of Eddie’s neck. Eddie lets out a sleepy little moan. Steve could get used to waking up like this every morning.
———
An anonymous benefactor gifted me with lyrics from “Paper Rings” and here is what I’ve done with them.
Just two things: 1. I have never seen Ghost Adventures, but I imagine it would be one of the only shows both Robin and Eddie could agree on and 2. I have never listened to Tame Impala, I know nothing abt the music (beyond the fact that it’s just one guy??? see, I am hip and cool, gen z), so this is not intentional slander, I promise!!! It’s just the first thing I thought of.
Oh ETA: I also know nothing abt cars or what mechanics do, I assume they sometimes fix engines.

i’ve been very quiet so srry - my week started with my annual performance review (which went well) and ended with an emergency surgery (also went well) so…a lot going on to say the least
this is a deleted scene from the first chapter of plant a seed
When Robin called, Steve and Eddie were in the phase of newborn parenthood where they froze every single time the phone rang (because said newborn was napping more often than not and when she was, there was a 50% chance minimum the phone would wake her up).
So when Robin called and the ringing of the phone broke the otherwise peaceful silence, Steve froze and he waited. When the baby didn't wake up, Steve exhaled a sigh of relief and answered the call.
"This is Steve."
"Hey Steve-o!"
Steve immediately recognized the voice as Robin's – of course he did, even if he hadn't heard it since she and Nancy left for a work trip in Japan a little over a month ago.
“Oh shit,” Steve said, because this means that Robin and Nancy are finally home, finally back in their Boston apartment fifteen minutes away from his and Eddie's in Cambridge instead of the opposite side of the entire world, “You’re home!”
“Yep,” Robin replied, popping the P, “That plane was a million degrees, I’m pretty sure. No more August flights if I have any say in it. Anyways – wanted to let you know we made it back unscathed. What’s new with you guys?”
“Uh…” Steve began, not totally sure where to start, because Robin didn't know about the baby he and Eddie had been placed with two weeks ago and she certainly didn't know that they're going to adopt her (because they'd landed on that decision that very day – about two hours ago, to be specific), “Well–”
“Hey, do you still have those placements?" Robin interrupted, "The kids who like to read the Goosebumps books?”
“Oh,” Steve blinked, “No. They went back with their mom a couple days after you left.”
“Damn. Been a while. Forgot this trip was longer than usual – wait, so are you between placements now, then? Hey, we should finally make that trip to P-Town!”
"Might need a raincheck on that," Steve said with a laugh, because at the moment a trip to the goddamn grocery store required at least a day's worth of planning, "We've got another placement right now – a newborn. We've had her for, uh, for just under two weeks, pretty sure."
“Shit, a newborn?" Robin repeated.
Steve faintly heard Nancy's voice, though he couldn't make out exactly what she was saying. He listened as Robin recounted to her what he'd just said, then started to laugh.
"Nancy just said that if she misses out on a chance to hold a new baby, she'll kill you," Robin told him, "Any idea when she might move on?”
Steve paused for a second. He and Eddie had decided earlier that they wouldn’t be telling anyone about the baby until the adoption was finalized, but…it’s Robin.
He doesn’t think he’s ever kept a secret from Robin before, certainly not something this big and certainly not for very long.
He has to tell her.
“We’re, uh, we’re actually adopting her.”
Robin was silent.
Then –
“Holy shit – Steve.”
And then –
“I’m coming over right now. Immediately. Wait–” Robin stopped, “Damn, I can’t be a dick and come over unannounced anymore, can I? Because you guys have a baby. A baby. And she’s gonna be yours? What the fuck? Wait, let me start over.”
Robin paused long enough to take a deep breath.
“Steve Harrington – my best friend who’s finally fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a dad – when will you allow us to come and be formally introduced to our niece?”
Truth be told, Steve wouldn’t say no to a visit from Robin and Nancy that day (especially after the our niece comment), but their case worker had just started faxing over all the paperwork to get the ball rolling on the adoption process and Steve has a feeling that he might catch Eddie trying to fill that shit out as it came out of the machine so tonight they might be a little occupied.
"Tomorrow?" he suggested.
"Morning?" Robin added.
Steve laughed, "Sure. Tomorrow morning."
"Bright and early, dad. Holy fuck, I can't believe you're a dad."
"You can't?"
"No, I totally can."

Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
"Are you sure you don't want to go see a show at the Ampitheater tonight?" I asked, trying to give Mor a guilt trip with no more than a look as we carried bags towards the river house. She just scoffed at my attempt.
"I already told you, I can't. I wish I could, but our lovely High Lord has me doing work all night tonight."
I huffed. "Fine. Let me know if I can do anything to help with the work, since I'm losing my theater buddy."
Mor shot me a grin. "I'm sure you could find somebody to replace me if you really wanted to."
I narrowed my eyes at her. I knew what she wasn't saying: that I should invite Cassian. To do something, if not to go to the amphitheater. I regretted ever telling her I'd caught feelings for the Illyrian general.
"Whatever, Mor," I scoffed, failing to come up with a better comeback. She grinned, clearly sensing her victory, but luckily for me I'd reached my room. "Enjoy all that work you have to do tonight!"
I didn't wait for her response before ducking through the door and shutting it behind me. I could hear her laughing as she continued down the hallway to her own room, but I did my best to block it out as I dropped my bags.
I hovered a little longer in my room, taking my time putting away the things we'd brought back from the market, until I heard Mor leave to go do whatever work Rhys had her doing. I checked both ways in the hallway when I finally emerged before heading down to the kitchen.
All of my friends had been hounding me about Cassian lately, and as much as I loved them, if I heard another word from anyone trying to nudge me into asking him out or whatever, I was going to lose it.
I made my way towards the kitchen, intending to make myself a snack before figuring out what I wanted to do with the rest of my evening, but I stopped short at the sound of harsh whispers coming from within. It sounded like somebody was having a heated conversation, and I didn't want to interrupt anything. But then my stomach rumbled, and I decided to go in anyway.
I cleared my throat and made as much noise as possible so I wouldn't interrupt any Inner Circle members in the middle of something serious. When I rounded the corner, I found Cassian and Azriel sitting at the table in the middle of the space, leaned back in their chairs and trying way too hard to look casual.
"Hey guys..." I said, eyeing them both suspiciously as I slowly moved further into the room. Az gave me a little nod, and Cassian gave me a smile that looked more than a little forced. "What, uh... what are you both up to?"
"Rhys needs my help with something," Azriel said, standing abruptly. I narrowed my eyes at him, but of course his expression gave away nothing as he headed for the door. "I'll see you both later."
I watched him go, then turned my gaze to Cassian once Az was gone. His back was to me, so I couldn't read his expression, but his shoulders were tensed and he hadn't turned from the doorway Az had disappeared through.
"Okay..." I said, deciding to just move past it as I turned to the counter to start making myself a snack. "What about you, Cass, you got anything going on tonight?"
Cassian cleared his throat. "Me? Nope."
I heard him shifting in his chair behind me, and a moment later he was standing at my side. I prayed he couldn't hear my heart racing faster at his proximity as I tried to keep my focus on the fresh fruit in front of me.
"So, uh, you..." Cassian's wings rustled behind him, usually a sign of nerves. I frowned. "You come here often?"
I paused, setting the knife down and opting to slowly turn to face Cassian, one eyebrow raised. He fidgeted as he stared back at me, and I caught him forcing a grimace off his face in favor of a small smile. I'd never seen him look so nervous before.
"I... Cass, we both live here."
The grimace returned in full force, and I couldn't help smiling as Cassian brought a hand to his forehead.
"That's not what I meant to ask you," he said, shaking his head and meeting my eyes again. "What I meant was, uh... do you have a bandage?"
"A bandage? Did something happen? Did you get hit-"
"Dammit! No, I'm fine. Never mind, I need to go find Az-"
He started to push off the counter, but on a reflex, I stopped him with a hand on his forearm. He stopped dead in his tracks and stared at me, and my heart almost stopped in my chest at the intensity of his gaze.
I quickly pushed down the butterflies in my stomach to give Cassian a once-over. No matter what he said, he clearly was not fine. I didn't see any obvious physical injury, but a hard hit to the head would definitely explain some things, and when I met his eyes again he had a weird look in them.
"Cassian, are you sure you're okay? What's going on?"
He took a deep breath and then hesitated, his eyes darting over my face and his brow furrowed. Then, he sighed, his face and shoulders relaxing with him.
"I'm sorry, I just... I was trying to ask you out." My eyebrows shot up, but Cassian continued before I could muster a coherent response. "I've been wanting to do it for a while now, but I lost a bet to Az last week and my 'punishment' that I finally had to go through with it. I've been trying to figure out the best way to do it, but... I guess that wasn't it."
Cassian huffed a little laugh at himself, his expression drooping as he stared at the ground. I just blinked at him for a few seconds, trying to process everything he'd just told me.
"Hold on... you're asking me out because you lost a bet to Az?"
"Not just for that," Cassian assured me quickly, looking worried. "Or, I guess, if you're not into it, then maybe yes?"
I just laughed, which didn't seem to make him feel better. I felt guilty, but I also just couldn't help it. My heart leapt as I put a hand on Cassian's shoulder and his eyes snapped to mine again.
"Cass... I barely escaped that exact same bet with Mor last week."
His brows furrowed. "What?"
"Yeah," I said, laughing a little. I couldn't quite help it. Cassian apparently felt the same way about me as I did about him, as evidenced by our friends' ridiculous tactics. My heart soared, and I stepped a little closer to him. "I cheated a little to get out of losing, but she's been pressuring me to ask you out somewhere anyway for the last week and a half."
"Because... you like me?"
"Yeah. A lot."
The frown finally lifted from his face, replaced with a beaming grin that made my heart race. Slowly, he moved one arm to wrap around my waist, pulling me a little closer to him. I let one hand rest against his chest, and Cassian's lopsided smirk almost made me faint.
"Our friends are going to be rubbing this in for a long time, but I can't make myself care," he said, voice low. I bit my lip and smiled up at him.
"Same. Especially since I think they're all out of the house right now on a fake assignment for Rhys."
"That's definitely a perk of all their bullshit."
"So... what now?"
Cassian's eyes flashed as he leaned forward, pulling me flush against his chest. He dropped his mouth towards mine until they were barely inches apart, then met my eyes. Based on his grin, I knew he could hear my heart beating out of my chest.
"I have a few ideas," he breathed.
A heartbeat later, his lips were on mine, and fireworks exploded in my chest. Being with Cassian like this just felt right, and now that we were finally together, I never wanted to let him go.
I wasn't sure who initiated it, but we deepened the kiss as Cassian's grip tightened on my waist. I let my hands wander over his chest, to his shoulders and arms, but stopped dead in my tracks when I heard a disgusted scoff from behind me.
Cassian and I broke apart, arms still around each other, and turned towards the door to find our friends standing there, staring at us with their hands on their hips.
"Well, I guess this is what we wanted," said Mor with a shrug.
"Pretty sure I told him to ask her out, not make out with her in the kitchen," Az chimed in from beside her. Rhys and Feyre just grinned at us, while Amren stared, clearly unimpressed.
"Do you all mind?" Cassian ground out, his hands tightening a little more around my waist. Mor just grinned and skipped into the kitchen completely undisturbed, heading for my unfinished fruit platter.
"Not at all," she said. Cassian sighed, but I couldn't keep myself from laughing. Our friends were absolutely ridiculous, but I loved them dearly. And Cassian and I had just made out in the kitchen, so I really don't think much in this world could've ruined my mood.
"Why don't the two of you go see a show or something?" Feyre suggested, following Mor into the kitchen, the other batboys following behind her. Cassian narrowed his eyes at his brothers, but I just smiled, at last stepping out of his grasp and taking his hand.
"That's a great idea, Feyre. Cass? What do you think?"
His expression softened the minute his gaze shifted to me. My heart melted.
"Sure. How about we go to Rita's after, too? Do some dancing?"
"Sounds like a plan. Just let me go get changed."
"I'll meet you back down here."
We shared a smile, and I leaned up to give Cassian one last quick kiss before turning on my heel to go get ready. Rhys and Az both smiled at me as I left the room, and I shot them a wink as I left. I would've preferred it if they'd all given Cassian and I our space tonight, but at the end of the day, we wouldn't have admitted our feelings for each other without our nosy, pushy friends. So I couldn't exactly stay mad at them, at least not this time.

More Caitlin foord please!!
si si si
Tumblr media
secrets we keep c.f
plot: your sister kyra adopts a dog and you look after it only to find caitlin in your sisters house one day
warnings: none really cooney cross reader!
Tumblr media
You remember when your sister sent you a photo of her new dog Bentley you knew that you would be taking care of it most of the time.
"Kyra you do not have time for a dog!" You scolded her, using your older sister privileges "Why are you acting like you don't love him already" she fired back, pointing at the puppy who was now sleeping in your lap.
"shut up".
Now here you sat in your sister's apartment playing fetch with Bentley too busy cooing over his cuteness to hear the jingle of keys at the door.
"C'mon you little shit!" a voice emerged and you widened your eyes, that wasn't Kyra's voice but it was Australian.
Bentley ran over as your quick plan of hiding and pretending nobody was home was ruined by his small yaps.
"Bentley no!" you discouraged him, following him to the voice.
Caitlin dropped to her knees to pat the dog "fuck" she heard a mutter and she popped her head up to meet eyes with you.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know Kyra had any friends over" she stood up quickly "Uhm no" you chuckled out of nerves
"Sorry," you said quickly after "I'm Y/n Kyra's sister" You introduced yourself and Caitlin stepped back "I didn't know Kyra had a sister" she stated
"She doesn't want people meeting the best Cooney-Cross" you joked and the blue-eyed girl laughed.
"I'm Caitlin" she introduced herself and you smiled "I knew that, you kind of play in my sister's team both league and internationally" you smiled.
Caitlin looked around to hide her blush "So is Kyra here?" she asked and you crossed your head "She's gone to watch Charli play" you told her "So I'm on dog sitting duty"
"I was wondering how she was dealing so well with a puppy" Caitlin smirked as she remembered Kyra taking credit for the good behavior of her dog.
"What brings you about, I can message her" you said and the brunette waved you off "she accidently double booked herself, me her and Steph were supposed to go out for ice-cream but then Steph dropped out" she explained and you rolled your eyes at your sisters lack of organization.
"She does have the worst memory, she got the sports and I got the brains and our younger sister got the looks" you explained and Caitlin smiled
"I think you got some of the looks but Kyra didn't get any of it" she joked and you looked down, hiding the red on your cheeks "uh- uhm thankyou Caitlin" you smiled and laughed.
Bentley started barking at the door with his leash on the floor "I think he's ready for a walk" you explained as you both turned to him.
"during the night?" Caitlin asked and you shamelessly nodded your head "Not ideal I know but nothing ever happened to me yet so I should be fine" you explained but you could tell by the girl's furrowed brows she didn't think it was a good idea.
"Do you-" she started, shuffling on her feet "Do you want to walk him with me to the ice cream place?, not too far and he'll probably have a good sleep after" she explained and you hesitated
"Or not" Caitlin said and you smiled "No I think that's a good idea" you said and Caitlin couldn't help the smile that grew on her face.
"that's good because I had a small lunch so I could binge an ice cream" she admitted "Kyra has barely any food so an Ice cream wouldn't be so bad" you laughed and walked towards the eager puppy who started jumping on your leg in anticipation.
"Hey is okay if you grab his doggy bags from the counter?" you called out to the Australian who was stood still watching you.
"You mean 'poo' bags?"
"Doggy bags are classier" you defended as you two laughed at each other "ready?" you asked and Bentley barked as a 'yes'.
"I wasn't talking to you".
On the walk you caught yourself laughing at all the Australians jokes, even when she was called by Allana, her and your sisters teammate who was equally shocked that Kyra had a sister.
"Well have fun you two," she said before hanging up.
"So how come you live in London?" Caitlin asked and you smiled "I actually moved here about three years ago to run my own business, I always loved the atmosphere" you explained and she smiled
"How much do you miss the Australian weather?"
You groaned "so much, I can't deal with all this rain, and the snow I remember as a kid I hoped it would snow so bad but now" you stopped "that is a whole different story".
Caitlin laughed, your hands brushing together to open the ice cream door causing you both to flush red and you felt butterfly's in your stomach.
'God what am I? A teenager again' you thought to yourself.
"They have a Tim Tam flavour here" Caitlin stated and you gasped "no way" "yes way" she smirked "Well I have to get that it would be illegal if not"
"You're funnier than Kyra" she told you and you smirked "I'll be sure to tell her you said that" and she rolled her head back "she'll probably kick me with her boot"
"I give you permission to tell on her to Kim, I'll be stuck with her whining but it will be fine"
"You would do that for me" Caitlin exaggerated as you both walked out with your ice-creams, Bentley looking up at you both, wanting to sniff what was in your hands.
You laughed, bumping her shoulder lightly with yours "I think I had a better time with you than I would've with Kyra, she would've tried to eat my ice cream before I had a chance to even try it"
You smiled at the compliment "to be fair I did want to try your flavour" you told her "and if I had hung out with you as much as Kyra I possibly would have done the same thing" you smiled, slightly defending your sister.
But Caitlin smiled "Wanna swap? You can try mine and I try yours?" she asked and you nodded "yeah" you nodded and you swapped, almost being near to Kyra's apartment.
You both finished your ice-creams, taking a photo of the view you had, Caitlin even took one of you and Bentley in front of a random street name with your name on it.
After asking for your permission she posted it on her story.
When you arrived back you both stood in front of Kyra's door "that was fun" you started and the girl nodded "yeah I wouldn't mind doing that again" she said and you smiled "me too".
"Can I uhm-" Caitlin started, shuffling her feet same as she did when she asked for you too walk with her "Can I have your number?" she asked and you nodded "yes" you nodded and took her phone from her hand.
"I'm always free Thursday nights" you told her with a slight smirk "me too" she smiled
"Cool, It's a date".

Jason Todd x Reader
"When things get too heavy for you, you tell me, and we carry that shit TOGETHER, so it's not so heavy anymore!"
Warnings: misperception of cheating (Jason doesn't actually cheat, he'd never my baby boy mwah), mentions of alcohol, comparisons to Artemis, self-shaming
Tumblr media
When Jason walked into your shared apartment, a faint smell of alcohol travelled through the air. This raised your suspicions even more.
Jason had told you last night he had gone on a quick emergency mission instead of his usual patrol, so he wasn't able to message or call you.
But last night, quickly popping into a nearby bar that your cousin worked at to drop off her house keys that she forgot she left with you, you saw a familiar black with a white streak hair man at the counter just when you were walking out the door. And for a split second, you could've sworn you saw a long-haired ginger woman beside him.
You shook the idea away, telling yourself that you trust Jason. Ever since Jason told you that he was Red Hood, the two of you pinky swore to never keep secrets from each other. You would've thought by then that Jason would've told you more about it, but he was pretty quiet about it. You figured that it was all the same mishaps for every patrol.
But you could smell his usual Coors Light wafting off of him as he walks towards you to kiss your head.
"Hey pretty," he barely mumbled before going into the kitchen, digging through the fridge.
As much as his little nicknames made your heart beat faster, you couldn't get the faint image of his hair and a certain Amazonian ex's hair together. And every second you thought of it, the more you could feel your heart crack a little further.
"Where were you last night?" Your voice was small, but the small, almost empty apartment made it easy for Jason to hear you.
"What? I told you, I was at a missi-"
"Don't lie to me. I know you weren't on a mission. I saw you." You spat. You wanted to be wrong. You wanted Jason to laugh at you, hug you, and call Dick or Bruce or anyone and tell them to tell you he was on a mission with them.
"Were you with Artemis?" You ask, wanting it all to be untrue.
Jason didn't look at you. He sighed. "Yeah? So what. It's not like anything happened." He said nonchalantly.
"You expect me to believe that after you lied to me about going on a mission and I catch you at a bar with your ex?" You scoff, your arms crossed and leg folded over the other. You sucked in a breath. "You know, you could've at least broken up with me. It would've felt nicer than you blatantly cheating on me without trying to let me know"
"Wait, what?" Jason said in disbelief. He couldn't say anything else. He didn't know how to explain his situation to you. So he stayed silent.
You slowly nodded your head. "Okay," you whispered, getting up to go to your shared bedroom. Well.. maybe not so shared bedroom now. You grabbed a bag, trying to stuff whatever you can into it.
Jason soon rushes in after you. "What- what are you doing??" He asks in a panic. "You're not leaving- you can't, please!" He begs.
You shook your head. "You left first! You left me by the time you let Artemis all over you! You know what- Honestly, I'm so stupid. Why the fuck would you want to be with someone like me anyway."
You didn't see Jason or Artemis all over each other that split second that you saw them. But now knowing that they definitely were together last night - that whole night, all you could imagine Jason realising that you weren't enough for him, that maybe he made a mistake separating with Artemis.
You wiped away the falling tears you didn't even know escaped your eyes as you zipped up the bag.
"No, wait! Don't leave- Dammit!" Jason fumbled over his words. "Nothing happened! She wasn't all over me! Just- Just stay, okay?? Nothing happened. Seeing her last night was just a one-time thing!"
You could hardly process what he was saying. There was ringing in your ears, and your vision was blurred. "Don't do that to me. Don't do that 'one-time' bullshit. If you really wanted me to stay, it should've been a zero time thing."
It was obvious that you thought you were a downgrade to Jason's past lovers. Or at least that's what you thought. But you found yourself so much less as a partner than his other lovers that all you can think about him going back to any of them.
"Listen, I'm sorry! I promise nothing happened! I won't lie to you again! It won'thaopen again!" He raises his voice, desperate for you to stay.
I slumped my shoulders. "How am I supposed to believe it won't happen again, huh? If it happened once, it's bound to happen again! How am i supposed to believe that you won't run off again to some other girl who's stronger, prettier and- and is just as badass as you are- I'm none of those things, Jason! If that's what you really wanted, then why even bother with me?!" You lay out all of your insecurities and weakness to Jason. Your breathing becomes heavy and uneven.
His brows furrowed. You were strong. You were beautiful. And you'd never even given him the chance to think you weren't.
"I'm not 'bothering' with you! What I really want is you! Not some other girl with muscles and-" He paused, trying to gather his words. And failing. He had no idea what the right thing to say was. All he knew for sure was that you were the only one he wanted. "I only want you."
"Then why the hell were you with Artemis in the first place?" You cried, throwing your bag over your shoulder, ready to leave.
"Look. It was just one time. I was at a weak place and- and she was there to help me. That's it. Nothing more." He tried to explain.
"So why not come to me if you're feeling that way, Jason?! That's literally what I'm here for, I'm here for you! Was I just not enough that you had to go to Artemis?!"
He growled, the question hitting a nerve. "You know I would tell you if something was bothering me. The reason I didn't is because- because I don't want to be a burden to you! You have enough shit knowing who I really am and I-"
He paused, swallowing. "You don't need me to be another bother in your life. You're strong, you're confident, you don't need me weighing you down with my bullshit."
You scoffed, pulling your hair back, your hand gripping against your hair. "Jesus Christ- I WANT you to weigh me down with your bullshit! That's my job when I decided to be in a relationship with you! When things get too heavy for you, you tell me, and we carry that shit TOGETHER, so it's not so heavy anymore! That's why I always talk to you when I have problems because I know you're there to help me! I know I know nothing about your life as a vigilante, and that Artemis is probably best suited for you, but I'm here, Jason! So don't you dare use that bullshit excuse on me!" You panted, tired and dried tears on your cheeks. You dropped yourself to sit on the bed, holding your face in your hands, your elbows resting on your knees.
You knew Jason had as many insecurities as you did. You knew the struggles he had as a vigilante. But you wanted him to come to you. You didn't want to push him by forcing him to tell you his problems.
Your words struck a chord in him. You wanted him. All of him. Not just the good parts but the bad parts as well. Even all his 'bullshit.' He took a step closer, testing the waters and putting his hands on your cheeks.
"I'm sorry. I never should have kept those things from you. I guess I just- I mean, I thought that you knowing about my life scared you enough. I didn't want to put more on you about my problems about my job too.." He weakly says, his head hanging low as he sits beside you on the bed. "I just thought... If I don't tell you any of this shit... you wouldn't be overwhelmed... and that you wouldn't leave."
You shook your head. "You're so selfish. You're so fucking selfish for thinking about those things about me. For thinking I'd leave you just because you're not perfect- I'm literally dating you because you're not perfect." You said quietly, your voice hoarse and raw.
Jason felt a lump grow in his throat. "I just didn't want to hurt you," he insisted, pressing his forehead against yours. "I just didn't want to lose you. And I messed everything up. But I promise you. Nothing happened between me and Artemis. You mean more to me than she ever has."
He sighed, looking into your eye. "Can you forgive me? Can we go back to the way things were?" He asked softly. "Please..." His quiet pleads were small and desperate. His eyes were soft and glossy, with hopes of you staying.
You slowly pulled away from him. "Get me my bag." You said with no emotion.
"What?" He said, feeling deflated and feeling his soul shatter.
"Just do it." You demanded.
His eyes closed as his shoulders slumped, feeling like he finally lost you, that you had really given up on him. His fingers tightened around his fists. After a moment, Jason went to get your bag across the room and brought it around to you, presenting the bag to you in his hands. He he stood in front of you, waiting for you to take the bag and leave.
"Now take the stuff out of it and put it back where they were," you muttered while sniffling.
His brows furrowed in confusion. "I-What?" His eyes widened slightly as he slowly realized what you were getting at. Your words suddenly caught up in his brain, and he realized exactly what you were asking of him. You weren't going anywhere. Jason rushed to take everything out of the bag and put them back where they belonged. He then stood in front of you, waiting for you to speak.
You shifted from your spot, laying yourself comfortably on the bed, your back facing him.
Like communicating telepathically, he laid next to you, just as you secretly wanted, ready to apologise for the millionth time until you spoke up.
You sighed and paused before speaking. "I'm not forgiving you. Not now, at least. And I doubt I'll forgive you tomorrow. Or the day after. But I will... Eventually.." You took a deep breath. "But I'm not leaving you. Because I love you. But if you pull this shit ever again, I might. And probably kill you. And from now on, you need to tell me shit you're going through. No matter how bullshit it may seem. So that you don't have to lie to me or find comfort someplace else. So that I can understand you.. And so that you wouldn't feel the need to go find some other girl who you think can carry your weight better than I can. Understand?" You said, avoiding eye contact.
"I understand," Jason finally said with a nod. He reached out his hand to touch your face. "I'm sorry. You mean the world to me. I don't want to lose you either. And you're right... I won't keep things from you anymore. You'll be the first to know now..."
You slowly nodded, finally looking in his eyes. You let yourself cuddle closer to him. As you pressed yourself against him, he wrapped his arms around you in a tight squeeze. His fingers traced your spine, and he breathed in the scent of your hair. He was so grateful that you weren't leaving... That you were still willing to give him another chance.
"I love you," he whispered, holding you close.

sd! toto? this man is the biggest sugar daddy material hands down, like a billionaire. maybe the reader is student at Harvard (i know this type of prompt has been used many times but I can’t think of anything else 😭) she’s studying to be a professor and can’t seem to be paying her student loans. And her friend invited her over to the paddock for the weekend to get her mind off of her studies and relax, where she then meets Toto and there’s a attraction which then leads to him being her secret sugar daddy?
-jenson anon ❤️
jenson anon you are so sexy for this idea ily bae <3333
you thought you knew him from somewhere; your friend ran in all the high end, luxury circles because of who her parents were and when she introduced you to the team principal of mercedes; you knew you had seen him before.
he remembered you before you remembered him - the two of you had met when he did a lecture at harvard. you were telling him that you were getting your PhD so become a professor and he said if you ever changed your mind, you could come work for them.
you never bothered with his comment, you figured you'd never see him again; you had been too busy to even think about that. between school and working to be able to pay for school, you barely had time to breathe.
the only reason you were there is cause your friend's parents paid for everything.
the afternoon goes by, everyone gets busy and your friend eventually disappears when she sees someone she knows.
you were sat in merc hospitality, having a coffee when someone asked if they could sit with you. you look over and see toto.
you tell him go ahead and you two make small talk. he asks how the PhD is going, you tell him it's slowly killing you.
"what do you mean?" the man pushes his glasses up a bit, looking at you.
you shrug, "I might die before I pay back the loans I have." you joked, not really tho.
toto shook his head, "so stupid that you need loans to go to school, to work just to pay back the loans."
"tell me about it." you sighed, spinning the cup around on the table. it goes quiet for a bit before he speaks. "let me pay for it."
you look at him like he's insane, "no, absolutely not. you're very kind for offering but I cannot let you do that."
"why not? it's a good use of my money."
"I wouldn't be able to pay you back, it would kill me to just take the money from you."
toto nods, telling you he understood and the conversation drops.
"we can work something out," he starts and you cut him off, "I can't afford that-"
"no, not like that. uh, so I was thinking more along the lines of you just giving me some company."
you get what he meant and you can't help but laugh. "I'm not looking to be a sugar baby."
"no of course not," he shook his head, "just two friends who benefit from each other?"
"well when you put it like that." you nod, smiling.
toto asked you to join him for the races over your summer break, in exchange he paid for your next two semesters.
you got to travel the world and he got the company he wanted, while your school was paid for.
it was nice, you got to explore on the days you didn't join him on track. he left a card with you which you used for emergencies but he left it with you incase you wanted to shop or stop to eat somewhere. you two had dinner together almost every night, unless he was working late.
he spoiled you with lavish clothing and jewellery to match; you told him it was too much and he said you needed to fit in with the crowd so he's just making sure you don't stick out.
you both knew he just liked to spoil you, that was the whole thing.
the break in the race schedule came up, the drivers off to rest for the summer. toto asked if you'd like to join him in England, spend a few weeks with him relaxing.
you said okay; the 2 of you spent 2 of the 4 weeks in England, resting and getting to know each other properly- and by that I mean in bed.
one too many glasses of wine turned into flirting, into touches and stolen glances and eventually you two ended up going at it right on the deck.
the next 2 weeks were on an island, a little villa all to yourselves, rolling around in bed all morning, waking up to the sun and your lover kissing on you.
you returned to the paddock, toto a little more touchy than before but no one seemed to say anything even tho they noticed the change in the two of you.

Straight to the point (or not?)
a/n: let me be bless you with a little something for Katherine Kühl...
Tumblr media
*not my GIF*
Pairing: Kathrine Kühl x GERWNT!reader; Giulia Gwinn x reader (best friend); Alessia Russo x reader (past); Arsenal WFC x reader
Summary: a Danish player has a crush on someone but are they feeling the same thing?
Type: honestly I don't know
Warning: Gio being a helpful bro/sis for her friend,
word count: 4233
(I'll definitely write the second part later so feedback and proposition are welcome)
------
"How do you know that you love someone? Like, when you've fallen in love with them?" Kathrine asked, and the entire table became silent.
Amelie just looked at her, then at all the girls in the dinner room, and pulled up her phone to type something. When the striker finished, the Arsenal midfielder got a notification from the team's group chat.
Amalie: Girls! Emergency! Meeting in my room after dinner
"You could've just told me you don't have to get all the team involved." The young player said, trying not to show her embarrassment.
"Trust me, we definitely need it." Without saying a word, the girls finish their dinner before all heading to the striker's room.
"So what is so important that you need all of us?" Pernille asked the PSG's player.
"It's not for me." The striker started making some teammates grumble. "Kathrine wanted to ask all of you something very important." She finished. All the attention was now on the midfielder, which made her a little nervous, and Amalie didn't help her relax because she gently pushed her in front of the team.
"Well, it's not that important. I just asked the girls a stupid question, and now they're overreacting, sorry." She said now more embarrassed than before.
"Since we're all here, I think we can help you with your little problem, right?" Signe proposed, and everybody agreed.
At this moment, the midfielder couldn't feel more happy to know that her teammates were there for her, but she was also nervous because she didn't want it to involve so many people.
When Amalie noticed that her teammate wasn't planning to speak, she took it in her hands. "Kathrine has a crush on someone!" She announced.
If you could die out of embarrassment, Kathrine would definitely be dead right now. Her face turned so red that she could be confounded by her shirt. A lot of gasps were heard in the room.
"I wasn't expecting something like this." Pernille said, but her comment didn't reach everyone at the moment Sofie opened her mouth.
"Wow, that's crazy! Who are they? Did they play football? Are they good-looking? Since when did you-"
"Sofie, please stop; I can't hear my own thoughts!" Katrine Veje said after putting her hand over the Madrid's player's mouth.
"That's why I didn't want to tell the whole team." The midfielder whispered to the striker.
"Sorry, not sorry, but I think we need as much help as we can have for a case like that." The other Danish replied.
"What do you mean by a case like that?" The Arsenal's player asked a little offended but she didn't get an answer before her captain spoke.
"I don't want to be intrusive, but can we know who they are? We all want to help you with something important like that, but we will need more information."
"She plays for Germany." The young player said.
After a little silence, all players started to complain, "That's the only thing you get?" Sofie asked.
"Yes, because honestly, I don't know if I really love her; maybe it's just a crush." Ke defended herself.
"Okay, now things have become a little more clear. But didn't you ever fall in love in the past?" The older Kat asked.
"I don't think so. I mean, I had friends who had ever fallen in love and had crushes, but for me, it was the same thing." She explained.
"Oh, trust me, it's not the same thing." Amalie interjected, getting the attention of the midfielder. "Look at that." She took her phone and opened Instagram; a few seconds later, she showed her phone to all their teammates. "This is the look of someone who is completely in love with someone else."
"Why did you use me as an example?" The national captain asked.
"Because you're too cute when you look at Magda like that, and I thought that it would be more helpful if I showed someone she knows." During their interaction, they didn't notice the weird expression on Kathrine's face.
The midfielder picked up her phone quickly and immediately texted the only other person who was aware of that situation.
Ke: I think I love her
She was grateful that her friend was quick to reply, but she wasn't ready for the answer.
"I'm tired. I'm going to sleep. Good night." The midfielder said and left before anyone could reply. The girls stayed a little longer before calling it a night.
Gio: I think you know the next step now
Ke: What?
Gio: you need to tell her
Ke: absolutely not!
Ke: are you crazy?
Gio: you don't have to do it tomorrow but you'll need to do it before she find someone
Ke: do you think it's possible?
Gio: I hope not because that would mean I spent too much time hearing you talk about her for nothing
Ke: thanks for the reassurance
Gio: I know, I'm the best
Ke: it was ironic
Gio: 🖕
The next day was game day. Denmark against Germany in the Nations League. What Kathrine didn't know was that the last night all her teammates were trying to guess who could have been this special person.
During the pitch inspection, both teams were totally focused, especially the Germans. The Danish midfielder was looking at the opposite team, searching for someone, when two hands covered her eyes.
"Guess who it is," you instructed her. The midfielder faked thinking for a moment before replying.
"Y/n/n?" She heard you grumble in defeat before you put your hands back in your pockets. "So how are you?" She asked after she turned around to face you.
"I don't know; I'm a little nervous to be back, but I'm also really excited. And you?"
"Same thing. I'm just a little disappointed that one of us has to beat the other."
"Stop being too friendly with enemy Y/n, you will see her back in London." Lina said.
"Okay, grumpy captain, but why don't you say the same thing for Syd?" The older German looked at her Bayern's teammate and looked back at you.
"You know what? Forget what I said, but don't go easy on her because you played for the same club." She warned you.
"Okay, first, I already know that, and second, don't worry, I always give 100% of my capacity." You reassured her.
"Well, don't do too much; you just came back from an injury." Your Arsenal teammate reminded you.
"If you think that will stop me, you're pretty wrong. And I think I need to show everyone that I can follow the rhythm." You said before leaving to see your national teammates.
After the end of the game, you lost 2-0. You played only for the last fifteen minutes, which was incomprehensible for you because you had already played a full half for Arsenal. A little frustrated, you made your way to the opposing team and shook hands before you spotted Ke.
The midfielder didn't wait too long before she gave you a hug and whispered some encouraging words for your next game against Iceland. Unknown to the two of you, some cameras spotted that moment, and it was the start of a lot of tease for the blonde player.
The next morning, Kathrine woke up with a message from Gio and from the team's group chat.
Gio: I hope she tried to steal you a kiss after you looked at her like that.
The Brazilian player sent her a picture taken last night. The Danish player started to blush, but she was definitely not ready for the next part. When she opened the group chat, she was welcomed by the same picture and a picture of Magda and Pernille shooting for Bayern, where P was making heart eyes at the defender.
Amalie: please try to spot the difference. spoiler alert: it's impossible
Now the midfielder was totally red, like last time. Thankfully, all of them seemed motivated to make this couple real, which made Arsenal's player a little more nervous.
~~~~~
After the international break, you were back in London. You were messing up with Katie like usual when Ke finally appeared with Gio. The midfielder spent all her previous nights trying to find a way to not act in front of you, but that definitely didn't work well.
"Hey, look at that. Our little Danish super star is finally here." You commented. You didn't wait much longer before abandoning the Irish girl and making your way to hug the blonde midfielder.
Usually she would reciprocate it, but today she just froze. Her brain had accumulated too much tiredness from her late-night thoughts, and you didn't help when you just came and greeted her with your pretty smile, your marvelous scent, your familiar warmth, and...
"I think she's a little tired; she didn't sleep well last night." Gio said trying to save her friend from her thoughts.
You pulled away from the blonde and examined her to find some bags under her eyes. "Now that I look at it, yeah, you really seem tired." You said, and before the girl said anything, the Brazilian next to her used that moment to hug you. "Oh, yeah, I'm sorry. Hello, G, how are you?"
"Pretty good, and you?" After you started a little conversation with the brunette while Ke was finally coming back from her trance, when her friend noticed that, she excused herself and pulled the Danish away.
"I froze?" She asked, earning a nod of her teammate.
"Totally. Like a deer. It was pretty funny to look at, but it was also a little awkward," Gio said, and the midfielder turned red again. "Hey, it's okay. I mean, who wouldn't freeze if they were hugged by Y/n? She's literally the only person on the team who can be so touchy with everyone, and nobody complains about that." The Brazilian added.
"I'm going to die." The midfielder said dramatically.
"Oh, come on, don't say that. It was just one interaction; you can still ask her to train together today."
"She usually trains with Katie or Leah."
"Yep, but today Katie will train with me." The Brazilian said confidently.
"Why?"
"Because I'm a good friend, and I want to help you with your Y/n problem."
"It's not a problem."
"What is a problem?" You asked, coming out of nowhere.
"Nothing." Gio said quickly, making you raise an eyebrow at her. "But, hey, since you're here, I was thinking that maybe you could let me train with Katie today." She proposed.
You thought about it for a moment before replying, "Okay, but I heard we will train our defense skills today, so be careful." You warned her before leaving.
~~~~~
A few moments later, it was time to be paired for training, and you were talking with Alessia while the two younger players were looking at you.
"You need to ask her now before Alessia makes a move." Gio said, making her teammate blush.
"What? Asking her, like for a date?" Kathrine asked.
"No, you idiot, ask her to train with you," The striker said visibly annoyed. "But if you found courage to ask her out on your way, take it." She added before pushing the midfielder in your direction.
The walk to your position seemed too quick for the blonde, who hadn't found a proper way to ask you this simple question. When she arrived in front of you, she was greeted by an understandable glare from the other blue-eyed girl. She decided to ignore it for now, but she made a mental note to talk about it with Gio later.
When you noticed the Danish player, you stopped whatever conversation you had with the English striker and focused on her. "Hey, I was searching for you." You said, with a relieved smile, what made the midfielder smile. "Gio said she wants to train with Katie, so I wanted to ask you if you want to train with me." You asked her.
Ke couldn't be more thankful that you were the one who asked; she didn't vocalize her answer; she just nodded, and after that, Alessia left you to find her pair.
During the whole session, she couldn't help but admire you. Of course, she tried to have some conversation after she saw how Gio was struggling to contain Katie.
"I was wondering if you want to go somewhere after training today." She asked and was shocked by her own sudden confidence.
You thought about it, making her realize what she just asked you, and she immediately blushed again for the nth time recently.
"Yeah, why not? I just promised to call Giulia later, but I think she can wait." You replied, making her finally breathe correctly and mentally apologizing to your national teammate.
When the training came to an end, you were immediately pulled in by Vicki and Viv. The blonde midfielder was about to join the Brazilian when she heard you call her.
"Hey Ke?" She turned around. "See you later?" She just grinned and nodded before the two Dutch dragged you away.
"What will happen later?" Gio asked, coming out of nowhere.
"Jeez, Gio, you can't scare me like that." The midfielder said after jumping from surprise.
"Sorry, but why did she say  see you later?" The striker asked again.
"I asked her to hang out after. You know, just to spend some time together, like for bonding time." The Danish said, but she couldn't hide her crimson cheeks.
Unaware of them, Alessia heard their conversation, and the English was about to say something until she was stopped by Leah. The blonde skipper just shook her head, and despite her grumbling, the striker just let it go.
Later this day, you were out with Kathrine, enjoying the city and learning more about each other. Even if you were in the club for a few years now, the Danish was still really recent there, and that meant you didn't know her as much as Leah or the others.
~~~~~
When you stopped at a coffee shop, you noticed a missed call from Giulia. You quickly texted your national teammate, but you didn't have time to shut down your phone until she replied back. Your distraction earned a weird look from the blonde girl in front of you.
"Who's this?" She asked, trying not to sound too intrusive.
"Oh, I'm sorry, it's Giulia, but it's okay. I told her that I'll call her later." You replied.
The midfielder nodded, and suddenly a question popped into her mind. "Since when do you know each other?" She asked you.
"Almost all my life, I think." You replied. "Why?" You asked with a confused smile.
"Oh, nothing; it's just that you seem really close, so I was just curious."
"Yeah. I see. I mean, it's totally okay to be curious. But yeah, I've known her since we were five, I think, so she's more like my sister than my best friend."
The information made the midfielder internally smile more than she showed. She was about to ask more questions about you when your phone buzzed again, but this time your expression was not the same as when Giulia texted you.
"Are you okay?" Kathrine asked.
"Yeah, sorry." You apologized.
"Is something bad with Giulia?"
"No, it's not her. It's Alessia." You replied and instantly put your phone back in your pocket.
"Is everything okay with her?" The Danish asked more interested this time.
She wasn't a fool; she knew that something was happening or had been between you and the striker, but she didn't really find the confidence to ask.
"Yeah, just a long story." You tried to brush it off. "But let's not talk about that. There will be a movie night at Viv and Beth's this Friday; do you plan to go?"
The midfielder clearly noted your attitude when you changed subjects but didn't want to push it. "It's a team bonding night, right? So yeah, I think I'll come." She replied and almost melted in her seat when you smiled.
"Cool, it will be cool." The two couldn't have to talk more before Gio and her boyfriend entered the coffee shop. And for the first time, Ke wished her friend was not there.
Of course, when you spotted the young forward, you invited them to sit with you, and she didn't refuse. The four of you talked for a moment until you had to go back home.
"So?" The striker asked immediately when you left the shop.
"What?" The midfielder replied.
"Oh, come on, you know what I mean."
"Okay, she asked me if I planned to go to the team movie night, and we talked a little about Giulia and Alessia."
"What? Alessia? Why?" The Brazilian was now fully focused.
"Alessia texted Y/n and she didn't seem very excited about it. Something definitely happened between them, but she didn't want to talk about it." The Danish explained.
"We will have to dig it during movie night."
~~~~~
Back at home, you quickly got rid of your shoes, instantly crashed on your couch, and called your best friend.
"Okay, now you have time to talk?" Giulia said sarcastically after she picked up.
"Hi to you too." You joked, making the other German snort.
"Sorry, I just thought you would forget to call like you always do."
"Hey, it's happened only a few times." You countered. "And it's not like I ditched you on purpose." You added.
For a moment, neither of you talked. The Bayern player knew that something was off, and when she understood that you didn't want to talk first, she took it in her hands.
"So? How was your date with your Danish girl?" The right-back asked, making you grumble.
"It was not a date." You said it firmly. "She just wanted to spend some time with me; I mean, it's okay, I do that with everyone."
"Everyone except one." Your best friend said making you mute again. "How are things with her, by the way?"
"She texted me. When I was Kathrine, she texted me, but I didn't reply." You explained.
"And you did well. Honestly, I don't know why you didn't accept the Bayern offer when it came to you after you learned she got transferred to Arsenal."
"Because Arsenal is like my second home."
"Okay, but Germany is your first home. I am your first home. And don't get me wrong, she is a good player, but I can't imagine how you can stand with her every day."
"Okay, first, it's not every day. It's only during training days. Second, Leah, Kim, and Lia make every thing possible to not let us alone in the same room for too long." You reassured your best friend.
"That's the same thing; as a professional footballer, we train almost all the week, which means you are almost a week near her. I really don't–"
"She came to talk with me today." You cut her off.
"What?!"
"Yeah, she wanted to be paired up for training, but I was already paired up with Kathrine. And surprisingly, she didn't complain about that."
"I hope she didn't try to talk with you after that."
"Don't worry, Vicki and Viv were there to pull me far away from her."
"Please remind me to get them some gifts before Jill has to go back to the Netherlands." She joked, making you laugh almost immediately. "I need to go, but please be careful and stay away from her. And maybe you can start to hang out more with Kathrine."
"What do you mean?"
"Look at the group chat sometime."
"You always talk too much."
"Just do it. Go back to after our game against Denmark. Now I really need to go. Bye and be careful."
"Always." You hung out and quickly opened the group chat.
~~~~~
In Germany, the defender sighed loudly after the call. This little action gained attention from some teammates.
"What's wrong?" Klara asked.
"Alessia can't let Y/n alone." She explained.
"Do we need to kick some ass?" Linda asked.
"What? Of course we need." Lea said.
"Wait, girls, calm down. We don't have to go that far. At least not now." Giulia said.
"Are you all crazy?" Klara genuinely asked. "You can't just fly to another country to beat someone." While all the girls in the changing room were agreeing with her, she added, "At least wait until we have to face them in the National League, so we will not have to pay for it."
"Okay, girls, I don't know what you're talking about, but I think you need to stop right now." Lina said trying to calm them.
"We're talking about Y/n and Alessia." Giulia explained.
"Okay, now things are different. And Klara is not wrong." The ex-captain said.
"Lina!?" Jovana and Glodis called the midfielder at the same time.
"What? Nobody mess up with Y/n without consequences. Now let's go; we have training to do."
~~~~~
Friday night came more quickly than Kathrine expected. The Danish found herself on the couple's couch, waiting for the rest of the team to show up. After fifteen minutes of attempting to distract herself by talking with Frida and Noelle, you finally knocked on the door. When Beth opened the door, you didn't waste time giving a powerful hug to the striker.
"Our little sunshine is finally here." Sabrina said.
"You're the one who is talking? Look at you, please." You replied, making the whole team laugh.
After greeting everyone, it was finally the Danish's turn. She tried not to act weird and just opened her arms, waiting for you to hug her like always. This time, you were the one who malfunctioned for a moment.
Since your call with your best friend, you have seen what they were talking about in the group chat, and one of the topics was you and your Danish teammate.
Like the Danish team, your national teammates found it cute how the younger players looked at you. A lot of them knew about your recent drama and didn't say too much, but some of them were suggesting that maybe she could be the one who could help you heal from it.
And since then, this idea hasn't stopped running through your mind. You started to analyze every eye contact you made with the midfielder, and you started to notice the little changes. The light blush gradually turn into something more intense. The little talks that she made last longer.
Thankfully for Kathrine, you easily came back to your senses and finally hugged her. This one lasted a little longer than usual, but nobody really noticed that. Well, maybe Alessia did. And the glare she sent you definitely confirmed it. Sensing the little awkward change in the atmosphere, Viv asked you if you could help her with something in the kitchen, which you accepted immediately.
Followed by Vicki, you made your way to the kitchen out of the blonde eyeshot but near the Danish earshot.
"Please, can we not start this now?" You asked the striker.
"I don't want to start anything unless you find it necessary." She replied, gaining a confused look from her national teammate. "She slept with Alessia." Viv explained.
"It's not like that." You interfered.
"What do you mean it's not like that? Did you sleep with her, yes or no?" The tall Dutch asked.
"Yes, but we didn't just sleep together, okay?"
"Okay, my bad, there was also a little relationship." She rolled her eyes.
"Wait, when?" Vicky asked.
"2021." You replied, "Until almost the end of the 21–22 season." You added.
"But why did you slip out?"
"Because our relationship was not really the best, and she broke my heart, so we just ended this." You explained this.
"She spent three days here, crying on the couch." Viv added.
"Okay, you don't have to say that. And I was broken at this moment, okay?" You tried to defend yourself.
"Okay, but right now I need to be sure that you don't end up doing something stupid tonight."
"Like what?" You were a little offended by the lack of trust of your teammates. "And it's not like we can do anything stupid. I have Kim and Jen on my back every day to be sure it never happens again."
"I still need to be sure that nothing can happen. So you'll be assigned to the scandis tonight. I don't want you too far from one of them, and more importantly, I don't want you near her, okay?" At this moment, Viv was using her serious tone, and she would not tolerate any errors from you. You just gulped and nodded before she let you leave the kitchen.
On your way back to the living room, you felt your phone buzz in your pocket.
You wanted to reply when you heard someone speaking.
G7: please don't do something stupid tonight, or I'll have to get the girls involved
You: what do you mean by "getting the girls involved" and how do you know what I'm doing right now? I didn't post anything anywhere.
G7: I have my connections
G7: now have a good night and keep an eye on the little Danish
"Hey, I think the movie is about to start." When you raised your head, you were found with Kathrine, who was visibly waiting for you.
"Uh, yeah, I'm sorry I'm coming."

— hey, wanna come over today?
sure! be there in 10 —
these are the text messages that have lead to me to where i am now. aka, sitting in my car in matt’s driveway, regretting every decision i have ever made.
matt sits in front of me in math class, and ever since about 4 months ago i’ve had a major crush on him. it started off as a small crush, so basically just me discreetly staring at him in class and getting butterflies whenever we made eye contact. but one conversation led to another, phone numbers got exchanged, and now i’m at his house.
most people would be ecstatic to be in my position; sitting in their crush’s driveway, waiting to go in and hang out with them. its not that i don’t like matt, its actually quite the opposite. i like him so much im scared i’ll fuck it up in there. or what if he invited me over to tell me he doesn’t feel the same? i’ve never been over to a boys house, if you can’t tell.
after practically shitting myself i decide i should just go in. i shove my phone in my pocket and get out of my car. i walk up to his door, making sure i don’t step in any puddles. rainy boston weather is hell.
once i reach the door i knock on it 3 times. i hear some faint voices behind the door, then it swings open. but its not matt who answers the door. he told me he had 2 brothers, chris and nick. i had only seen them in pictures, but i think this one is chris. the boy stares at me for a moment.
“MAATTT!! your girlfriends here!” he yells out behind him with a giggle. had matt told them i’m his girlfriend? my cheeks go red and i try to shake the thought. matt suddenly emerges from a separate room and smiles when he sees me.
“ignore chris, hes a dumbass.”
“kid i’m standing right here”
“i know” matt says as we both give each other a look and giggle. he nods his head to indicate i can come inside, so i promptly step in as chris closes the door behind me. suddenly i see a woman come in through the hallway from the kitchen.
“oh you must be y/n! i’m marylou, matt’s mother.” she says as she gives me a hug. i smile and hug her back.
“it’s so nice to finally meet you! matt never shuts up about you, you know.” she says with a sly smile. i don’t know what to say back so i just laugh.
“mom..” matt says as he puts his face in his hands.
“it’s nice to meet you too!” i say cheerfully.
“okay i’ll leave you two alone, but remember matt; keep the door open. i’m not ready for any grandkids yet.” marylou says. my face goes red and so does matt’s.
“oh my god mom we’re not doing that.” matt says, embarrassed.
“alright well just in case.” she says as she turns around and walks away.
“do you wanna go upstairs?” matt says. i nod and he shows me the way to the stairs. as we’re walking through the hallway, i see a room illuminated with pink led lights. i peer inside and see another boy. matt catches up with me and also looks inside.
“that’s nick, my other brother.” matt says to me.
“hey girl!” nick says to me.
“hiii nice to meet you! i’m y/n” i say back.
“oh trust me, i know who you are.” nick says as he gives matt a look.
“i hate this family.” matt says sarcastically, which makes me laugh.
it seems like matt talks about me a lot to his family, which is shocking because he seems like he keeps his love life very private. that could be a good thing or a bad thing. either way, i love the fact he’s close with his family. once we make it to his room i sit down on the side of the bed and he sits down on the other.
“wanna watch a movie?” he says as he picks up the tv remote.
“sure!” i say. matt moves himself so he’s sitting against the headboard of his bed, and i do the same. my heart is beating at a concerning rate. i can practically feel matt’s body heat, i’ve never been this close to him before. he starts scrolling through movies on netflix, but i can’t pay attention to the tv right now.
“is this one good?” he asks. not gonna lie i have no idea what movie he just picked out, but i’m gonna go with it because i won’t be paying attention anyways.
“yeah” i say. i look down and see something poking out from under his pillow. i pull it out and see that it’s a small pug stuffed animal.
“oh my god. is this yours?!” i say with a smile on my face. matt sleeps with stuffed animals?!!! i might pass out from how attracted to him i am right now.
“you weren’t supposed to find that..” he says as he smiles and buries his face into his hands. “his name is mr wrinkleton.”
“that is the cutest thing ever.” i say. he tries to grab the toy back.
“hey!” i say, reaching over him to grab it back. we both start laughing and he holds it over his head, causing me to try and reach up for it. finally, i grab it from him.
“YES! i win!” i say in a teasing voice. we’re both laughing so hard that i don’t even realize the position im in. i’m straddling him. once we both stop laughing and realize what’s happening, we both just stare at each other. my heart starts beating even faster when i realize what’s about to happen. we’re gonna kiss.
i put my hands on his chest, looking down at his lips then up at his eyes again. i can feel his heart racing too, he’s just as nervous as i am.
i put my face down to his and place a soft kiss on his lips. matt puts his hands on the back of my heads and pulls me in for another kiss, this one is deeper. he snakes his hands down to my waist and keeps kissing me. surprisingly, i’m not as nervous as i thought i’d be right now. usually when i kiss a guy i’m scared out of my mind, but this feels… natural. everything about matt feels familiar and comforting to me.
once the kiss breaks i lift my head back up and look down at him. he’s smiling, his lips plump and pink and his hair slightly messy.
“i have something to tell you. i really like you.” i say.
“yeah i caught onto that.” he says with a chuckle, and he pulls me in for another light kiss. after this once i get off his lap and snuggle up beside him, looking at the tv.
“i think we should hang out more often.” i say jokingly.
“me too.” he says. he puts his arm around me and lays his head on mine and i snuggle closer.
