Summary:

In the wake of the Battle of New York, Bucky Barnes bade his old life, or what was left of it, farewell. He bought a deserted cabin in the Catskills, exchanged orthopedic surgery for woodworking, and built a new life for himself as a carpenter. Six years on, Bucky still leads a peaceful, if solitary, existence. Maybe it gets a little lonely sometimes, but that’s why he got himself a dog. And a cat. And a goat.

In 2018, Steve Rogers finally hangs up his shield. He trades Avenging and New York City for the peace and quiet of the Catskills, grows a beard, and isolates himself in an attempt to salvage what’s left of his sanity and identity. After living his life in the public eye for so long, Steve believes that calm and solitude are exactly what he needs. Of course, he didn’t count on meeting Bucky Barnes.

Hiya!

I thought maybe I'd post something for any of the handful of people who might be interested what I've been up to and don't share a discord server with me! I know I haven't posted much of anything on ao3 in forever and that's because I've been so busy writing, lol. Honestly, it's true. My crazy ass signed up for three concurrent bangs and I wrote two fics for one of those!!!! So here's what you have to look forward to between July 20th and Aug 14th:

July 25th: my second @capreversebb fill, a collab with the wonderful @nolanfa! This one is a canon adjacent 5k oneshot with a WS!Bucky who has gotten free of HYDRA and is traveling with a giant wolfdog. Rated M for violence and language, tags include recovering Bucky, Bucky's revenge tour 2k16, angst with a happy ending

July 29th: @silver-fox-steve-bang!!! I've been dying to get this one out there, I finished it what feels like forever ago back in March or something, lol. This one is a canon divergent 6k oneshot set after CA:CW and features a Nomad Steve but with gray hair. Art will be from Emmatheslayer who I can't tag bc she's not on tumblr, lol. Phew! summary: It's 1994 and Bucky Barnes is stuck in a dead-end job at Blockbuster trying to figure his life out. That is until a recently unfrozen Steve Rogers walks through the door and asks him for movie recommendations.

"You lookin' for something for your kid or your niece or… the kid you babysit?" The employee's nametag reads 'Bucky', and in a smaller font underneath is the word 'Manager'. "No." Steve frowns, then follows his glance up towards the sign that reads: CHILDREN'S. He picks up Snow White and shows it to the employee. "Found it." "Alright, dude. Whatever floats your boat. Lemme know if you need anything else. Your Cinderellas and your Sleepin' Beauties. That Jasmine chick from Aladdin is a pretty big hit." Bucky crosses his arms over his chest and that polo stretches a little. "Unless it's the dwarves that getcha goin'." Steve opens his mouth and then shuts it. "Um, what?" "Look, if you're gonna perve over cartoon girls, can you wait until you've rented them out? This is a family establishment."
