Long time, no see. It's been a while since I posted anything here. It's been rough going, art-wise, but for a little bit I got my drive back and managed to create some NATIK related art and story notes. I also applied for an artist grant that could help me fund NATIK. Regardless of whether or not I get the grant in the end, I'm proud of myself for taking a chance.

I plan on resuming chapter one, and this time using digital lettering instead of handwritten. There have been some very slight anatomy changes to the natik species, and some lore changes as well, which I am eager to share.

Not to get too personal, but after a tragic loss in my family I've seemingly lost momentum just as soon as I've gained it back. It's rough and it's been a lot to process. I'm hanging in there, though, and maybe if I can put my energy into my creative work it can help me cope. My stories are deeply personal to me, so I have a feeling it will be a good outlet- especially in processing death.

The next day the dwarfs arose early and prepared for work.  Snow White cooked them breakfast and when it was time to leave they all lined up at the door to bid her farewell for the day. Odaiba, Take #2 was a success!

We started our day with some coffee, using the Cyber Sleuth Alphamon mugs @elecmon designed for us! We ate some more Guilmon bread, too.

We watched Digimon: The Movie and X-Evolution while we did some drawing.

Catte Update from 4/4/19

Morning- Olivia remained in her under-shelf hide. Specifically in the corner of the room, at the exact spot it would be hardest to see her. 

Evening- I got home, did the microwave-potsticker dinner and waffles for dessert. I’m sitting there eating the waffles and suddenly- smacky eating sounds. Thanks to the other day, Olivia seems to have decided that we Eat Together. Or that it’s safe to eat when I’m around, or something. When the sound stopped, I turned my head, only to find the bab standing in front of the fridge already. If I hadn’t turned, she might have actually approached all the way... or perhaps she just wanted to look into the dining room real quick. We’ll never know, because she was gone again when I got up from my chair. I really should call her Eurydice if she’s going to leave simply on account of my turning to see her.

But! I wasn’t going to give up so easily! 

So I got the treats from the dining room, then went to the laundry room and picked up the teaser toy (left there from some hangout session with Donn). And she played! Snatched at it, pulled it right through the shelf to chew on, since these shelves are really individual slats across the framework... (I’m not explaining this right, but I can’t seem to find a picture of the thing. Will fix this later.) 

Anyway, the point is that Olivia was quite actively playing with the toy, even without treats attached to it. She’s nearly chewed the feathers off the end. It’s definitely Her Toy now. 

And then... I unlocked the secret. The secret of purring and pets. 

It’s a trail of treats. 

Once a stray, always partially a stray, I think. First a treat or 2 tossed into her hiding place. Then another, and another, placed gradually closer to me, and finally she ate one right off my hand. And that is when she started purring and rolling on the back (showing her beautiful spotted undercarriage), walking around to this or that angle, making herself all manner of agreeable in the hope of more treats. She condescended to let me stroke her head, and then pushed it up to my hand on her own, and it was lovely.

But I know the truth now, Olivia. Thou art but a hungry girl in a cat’s raiments. A girl who wanteth for feeding before she will accept love. 

Also, side note, I am a little concerned about her sight. She takes a minute to find treats, even when they’re right in front of her. She actually lay down on the first one when I threw it to her through the shelf-slats. And with the ones on my hand (bc I did give another one that way), she sniffed all around the hand before finding it on my fingers. Not to mention that when she was walking around me being consciously adorable, there was an odd kind of wobble to her walk that has not been present at other times. Did she learn to lilt for maximum charm or...? Curious. 

She did still back up when I showed any sign of changing position or getting taller (whether via kneeling or squatting), but I maintain that this is progress.
