Casting Spells: The Power of Words and Beliefs

Words are powerful. They have the ability to shape our reality, influence our thoughts, and impact those around us. Just as ancient sorcerers used spells to manifest their desires, we too can harness the same power through the words we speak and the stories we tell. By consciously shifting our narratives from lack to abundance, victimhood to empowerment, and complaint to gratitude, we become alchemists casting beautiful spells that attract positive experiences into our lives.

1. From Lack to Abundance: The first step in casting beautiful spells is transforming our perception of scarcity into one of abundance. Instead of dwelling on what we lack, focusing on abundance opens doors for opportunities and possibilities. By affirming statements like "I always have enough," "The universe provides for me abundantly," or "Opportunities flow effortlessly towards me," we begin to reprogram our subconscious mind and invite prosperity into our lives.

2. From Victim to Empowered: Playing the role of a victim disempowers us and restricts personal growth. However, by embracing a mindset of empowerment, we tap into our inner strength and resilience. Our words hold immense power in this transformational process. Affirmations such as "I am in control of my own destiny," "I possess all the resources I need within me," or "Every challenge is an opportunity for growth" help us shift from victimhood to empowerment. As we believe these statements, they act as spells that empower us with confidence and determination.

3. From Complaint to Gratitude: Complaining breeds negativity while gratitude cultivates positivity and attracts more blessings into our lives. When we complain about circumstances or people, we unknowingly invite more reasons for dissatisfaction. Location - Find a special location to write your spell maybe in nature? At home?

Timing - Choose a day of the week or moon cycle that best suits your intentions.

Trust - Trust the Universe, despite our spell work, sometimes the Universe has something else in store for us.

Why - Ask yourself why you want to write a specific spell. Make sure your intentions are pure.

More "writing a spell" tips:

Draw a sigil

What type of spell is this? (ex; banishing, sweetening, binding, protection, freezing, or luck)

List ingredients and their intentions. Write intentions in the form of affirmations

List candles and color meanings

Does your spell require you to cast a circle

What utensils does your spell require

Is this spell necessary, does it require magic to achieve

Compose an appropriate chant, preferably one that rhymes

Is your chant specific and coincide with your intentions

Include any actions (ex. burning a Bay Leaf or adding a feather)

Are you inviting an entity to aid in this spell? (ex. God or Goddess)

Book 7: The Ruler of the Abyss – Chapter 7 (Part 1)

Following is part 1 of my translation of Chapter 7 of Book 7: The Ruler of the Abyss. This part contains Episode 7-101 to 7-106

Episode 7-101

Silver: Y-You’re…!

Idia: Can’t start a boss raid without a tank, and now we’re all set to go. The opening act’s DONEZO. Time for the main event! Heehee!

Sebek: J-Just what on earth is going on here!? Have we awakened from the dream?

Idia: Nah, we're still in the dream, sorry. Well, it's not really a dream. It's just a magic domain that Malleus-Shi created. I mean, just look at that armor you're wearing, dude. No way you can take that into the real world with you. 'Cause it's not really real, it's just, like, "info".

Silver: W-Wait, how do you know all this? Do you remember what happened before we fell asleep?

Idia: Uhh, it's not that I remembered everything. It's just I got a good handle on what's going on, I guess you could say.

Yuu: What do you mean?

Idia: H-Hold your horses, I'll explain later. But first… uhmm.. Ahh… I haven't really ever talked to you guys, right? Name's Idia Shroud, I'm the dormwarden over at Ignihyde.

Sebek: Ah, that's it! I was wondering why you seemed so familiar. Now I remember, you are indeed Ignihyde's warden! You appeared in that strange, plank-like form at my orientation, and I dare say this is the first time we've ever properly met.

Idia: R-Right. I just remoted into your guys' orientation on my tablet.

Sebek: And I am Sebek Zigvolt of Diasomnia! A first year of Class D, student number 33! This dullard here is my dormmate, Silver! He is a second year!

Idia: G-geez he sounds like a friggin' air horn!! Feels like my eardrums are about to explode. Hard to believe Malleus-shi's ears aren't totally busted from having to listen to that all the time...

Silver: My apologies, Idia Senpai. We'll try to keep it down. Anyways, I don't think you have to worry about your eardrums, since we're inside a dream and all, but… Ah, that's right! Everyone, stay alert!! Idia Senpai, Grim, Yuu, get behind us!

Idia: Wait, wot? Why? AUGH! Ow ow ow! I'm getting squeezed to death in a meathead-and-armor sandwich!!

Grim: Huh? What's goin' on, Silver?

Silver: Now that Idia Senpai's awake, it's only a matter of time before the Darkness appears and tries to lull him into a deeper sleep.

Grim: Crap, yer right! An' ya know what else… I bet Malleus is gonna pop up any second now and go into his stupid "HaVe yOu aWaKeNeD!?" spiel!

Sebek: The Darkness aside, I fear without Sir Lilia's aide our odds against Lord Malleus are… Nay, that matters not! Be it the Darkness or the Young Lord, we shall defeat whatever stands in our path!

Idia: Ohmigod I'm gonna die… I can't… breathe…!

???: So sorry to rain on your guys' parade, but… There's no need to worry about Malleus Draconia-san or that wiggly black stuff right now. It's likely Malleus-san is currently engaged with pouring his "resources" into keeping Lilia Vanrouge-san asleep.

Grim: Hey, that sounds like Ortho! Boy am I glad you're here, I thought we mighta lost ya back in the dream corridor. Where are you, anyway?

Ortho: Teehee, sorry for all the worry. Unfortunately, I'm unable to join you guys in big brother's dream without it causing some major problems, so we'll just have to talk through this monitor feed for now. Sorry. Anyways… My big brother appears to be suffering from oxygen deficiency judging by the pallor of his face, so could you please give him some space?

Silver: Ack, I'm so sorry!

Idia: *gasps for breathe* Uwaaaah!!! A-Another second and I was about to get yeeted into the Underworld… T-Thanks, Ortho.

Sebek: Oi, what was all that gibberish about Lord Malleus pouring "resources" into Sir Lilia?

Idia: Yeah, yeah, we're getting there. Ortho, could ya give 'em a recap?

Ortho: Roger that, big brother! I guess I'll start with how me and big brother know this is all just a dream… So on the day of Lilia-san's going away party, Malleus-san cast a spell that put all of Sage's Island to sleep… Or better said, he froze all of spacetime here. But by transforming into data and utilizing a connection I established with a communication satellite, I was able to escape.

Everyone: Communication satellite!?

Grim: The heck were ya able to do that!?

Ortho: Hehehe, it's because I'm unique! I may not be able to develop a Unique Magic, since I'm not a mage… But I was able to transmit my consciousness and my soul to a communication satellite using radio waves, and I then transferred myself into a different body. And that's something only I can do, ya know?

Sebek: I am loathe to admit it… But the technical advances that humans have brought forth truly are astounding.

Silver: Right. You and me could train and train, but we'll never be able to do what Ortho just did. He truly is unique.

Ortho: Hehheh, I'd love to hear you guys compliment me some more… But I'll get back to the story. Once I made it to Styx, I got my hands on a brand new gear.

Sebek: Styx…. 'Tis the organization that administrates the Isle of Lament, as I recall Sir Lilia explaining to us before.

Ortho: Correct. And then I worked together with Styx to infiltrate the island, so we could analyze Malleus-san's Unique Magic… Fae of Maleficence.

Episode 7-102

(A little while after Ortho and the KB-RS units departed for Sage's Island)

Ortho: This is Ortho reporting. I have reached the aerial perimeter of Sage's Island together with KB-RS01 and 02. We are now en route to the penetration point. The island's still pretty far away, but my magical energy and blot concentration sensors are going crazy. This is just like when the gates to the Underworld opened up… No, it'll be okay. I've got this new gear mom made for me, and the KB-RS units are here with me, too.

KB-RS01 / 02: Grrrr…. Woof woof!!

Ortho: This is Ortho reporting. We have reached the penetration point. Now making final preparations for descent.

Chief: Roger that. Good luck!

Ortho: Now deploying magical barrier infiltration mode. Activating counter-spell barrier. KB-RS units, deploy slicer modules and activate your ethereal slicers! Now initiating operation "Infiltrate Sage's Island"!

Ortho: Dammit, looks like this isn't going to be easy… KB-RS units! Keep on the attack!

Chief: We need to cover for Ortho. All battleships, aim your magical cannons at the barrier!

Operator A: All magical cannons are at full output! Firing in five seconds…. 3…2…1!

Chief: Fire!!

Ortho: The vines are all gathering together in that one spot to protect the island!! Looks like we should be able to get in over there, where the vines aren't so concentrated. Let's go, KB-RS units! Ethereal slicers at maximum output! We're gonna cut our way in!!

Operator A: Ortho has successfully infiltrated the barrier.

Head Engineer: …That takes care of the first hurdle. The next problem will be getting him out of there. He's only got twenty minutes before that gear loses power.

Chief: Right. Let's make sure we're prepared for whatever happens. Hurry up and get those cannons reloaded!

Staff Members: Yes, Sir!

Head Engineer: Come back safe and sound, you hear… Or-kun!!!

Episode 7-103

Ortho: ….We did it! We're inside the domain! And thanks to my counter-spell barrier, the spacetime aberrations here aren't affecting me at all.

(Time until loss of power: 20:00)

Ortho: Deploying analysis anchors!! Now running analysis! Woah, this magic is super complex… It'll take a good 17 minutes just to analyze the spell's formulation and save all this data. We'll be cutting it close, but we can make it. Just have to keep the anchors safe until the analysis is done….

(Purple lightning strikes)

???: My, my… And I was wondering just what slipped into my domain.

(Malleus appears in a column of green fire)

Malleus: Let's see here, you're… You look awfully different, but you're Little Shroud, correct?

Ortho: Malleus Draconia-san…!!! You're… So you really did overblot.

KB-RS01: Grrrr!!!

Malleus: Shouldn't you be fast asleep back at Diasomnia?

Ortho: Heh, sorry about that. But that body in the dorm lounge is nothing but a tin can now. I was able to use the wireless network to escape. Thing is, I'm an autonomous AI constructed from data, so I-… Actually, you probably won't understand even if I explain it, huh.

Malleus: In other words, you slipped out of your body, like a ghost, and found yourself a new vessel… Is that right?

Ortho: Oh, wow! That's a very fae-ish way of interpreting data transfer! But yeah, you got it. As long as there's radio waves available, I can go pretty much anywhere. …Even to the furthest reaches of space! I saw you used your magic to block off the submarine cables, but you never even thought about the satellites, didja? Magic is the power of imagination. And you can't bring to life or fight against something you don't understand. And that's exactly what I am - I'm not made out of quantum particles our spiritual energy or anything like that, I'm data. You seriously need to consider upping your security protocols! Personally, I recommend implementing UTM within your barrier.

Malleus: You-tee-em? What in the world is that supposed to stand for, I wonder.

Ortho: What the- You don't even know what that is, either? Geez. See, this is exactly why you got outwitted by your Kouhai like this. Doesn't matter if you're one of the top give mages in the world, or how ancient this spell is… You're no big deal. You'll never be able to put me to sleep with your magic!

Malleus: Heh, I see… In that case… I'll just have to smash you to pieces then, you little automaton.

Ortho: Go ahead and try! You'll see just how strong Styx… Just how strong the most advanced human technology in the world is!

Ortho (thinking): Malleus-san doesn't appear to view the analysis anchors as a threat. There's thirteen minutes left until they'll be ready… I need to buy us some time!

Malleus: My sincerest apologies, but uninvited guests really aren't welcome here. I'll be escorting you out now.

Episode 7-104

Malleus: You have my praise, it's quite astounding you've been able to maintain your sanity within my domain for this long. However… Is this really supposed to be the pinnacle of human invention? How pathetic! You haven't managed to lay even a finger on me this whole time. Fufufu…. Ahahhaha!

Ortho (thinking): Damnit! It's like everything in the domain is bending to Malleus-san's will. I don't think our attacks are even hitting him, let alone having any effect. It's like he's got this whole place in the palm of his hand…!

Malleus: Now then, let us cease with these childish games.

(Malleus explodes one of the KB-RS units)

Ortho: 01!!

Ortho (thinking): There's only 30 seconds left until the analysis is complete… Come on, we're almost there!!

Malleus: My, you look awfully pale. Do even machines feel fear? It's alright, I'll ensure you won't feel a thing when I shatter you.

Ortho (thinking): 20 seconds left… Please, hurry up, anchors! Hurry!!

Malleus: Sweet dreams, Little Shroud.

Ortho (thinking): I failed… I'm so sorry, mom and dad!

(Malleus freezes for a second and then looks confused)

Malleus: !!!

Ortho: !?

Malleus: Tsch, I missed.

Ortho (thinking): What… just happened? It's like he froze for a second there. Kind of like when a CPU overloads and gets a processing failure.

(an alarm beeps)

Analysis Anchor: Analysis complete. Data has been saved to the crypto memory core.

Ortho: 02! Get all the anchors and retreat! NOW!!

KB-RS02: Grrrr!!

Malleus: How bothersome. You're nothing more than a fly buzzing around my face…Away with you!

(Malleus explodes the other unit)

Ortho: 02! Argh… But thanks to 02 distracting him, the anchors are safe. All I have to do now is get them out of here…!

(The ground starts to shake)

Malleus: …What is it now? You fools just don't know when to stop!

Ortho: This is…!

Episode 7-105

Operator B: KB-RS01 and 02 are down! 45 seconds until Ortho loses power!

Head Engineer: …He still has enough time and power to escape the domain. Don't give up!! All autopilot Charon units, activate Termination Mode! Do whatever it takes to get Ortho out of there!

Chief: All battle ships, concentrate power into the magical cannons! Raise the output and don't stop firing!!

Technician: W-We've already reached maximum output! If we go any higher, the generators are going to get fried!

Chief: I don't care! As long as we can give him some time, even ten seconds or three seconds, it doesn't matter. We just need to have Malleus concentrate on defending the barrier! Now take aim and fiiiiiire! Fire, fire fire!

Ortho: It's Styx! They're giving me backup! Now's my chance! Magical slicer, full buuurst!

Malleus: …What!?

Ortho: Uooooooo!!

Chief: Cease cannon fire! All ships, prepare for Malleus's counterstrike and activate your invisible shields!

Operator A: …Ortho has now exceeded his power limit. System down, we don't have a signal!

Chief: …No!!

Head Engineer: Or-kun…!

(An alarm blares)

Operator A: We're receiving a transmission from the Charon Tetra Unit!

Charon: This is Tetra Unit reporting! We've discovered Ortho's body floating in the water around the domain! His body is very badly damaged, but his core is unharmed. We've also recovered all the analysis anchors from the water. We're now en route back to HQ.

Everyone: We did it!! Hooraaaaay!!

(Mr. and Mrs. Shroud hug and fall to the floor in relief)

Chief / Head Engineer: Haaaahhh….

Head Engineer: Good grief... I've said this before and I'll say it again, but even if I had a hundred hearts those boys would still leave me frazzled at the end of the day….

Chief: You know what? I gotta agree with you there, sweetheart….

Malleus: …Tsch. Damn those cunning little humans… No, it matters not. They can come back as many times as they like, be it a hundred times, a thousand times, and it will always end the same… I will remove any and all uninvited guests.

Episode 7-106

Ortho: Huh? Where am I…?

Head Engineer: You awake, Or-kun?

Ortho: Mom… Dad… I…

Head Engineer: Your Cerberus Gear was heavily damaged. All we managed to recover was your core and some of the surrounding parts around it. We lost both KB-RS units in the domain.

Ortho: I see… I wanted the three of us to make it back home together…

Head Engineer: They were good boys, huh. Listen, once we get rid of that domain, I'm sure we'll be able to recover their parts. And then mama will fix them up good as new.

Ortho: I'm so sorry, I know how hard you worked on them…

Head Engineer: What are you apologizing for!! All that matters is you're safe and sound. Welcome home, Or-kun.

Chief: Welcome home, Ortho. I'm so glad you made it back safely.

Ortho: Yeah, I'm glad to be home, too.

(The Shroud family hugs each other)

Ortho: Wait, I almost forgot! What about the anchors!?

Chief: They've all been recovered safely, you guys did an excellent job. Sytx's data processing department is firing all cylinders trying to analyze everything. There's multiple, complex layers of magic comprising Malleu's domain. The way it's interwoven, it reminds me of Test Subject F… Sorry, of the ancient spell that Grim has on him. Thanks to Briar Valley's assistance, we've at least been able to ascertain how the domain is constructed.

Ortho: Already!? That's great news!

Chief: Unfortunately, it's just the opposite.

Ortho: Wait, what do you mean?

Chief: We've determined that if Malleus Draconia himself does not break his spell voluntary, or if he is not eliminated, then we only have a 0.2% chance of destroying the domain from the outside.

Ortho: No…!

Head Engineer: Everything in that domain, even the laws of reality, is under Malleus's control. We could fire the most powerful magical cannons in the world at that barrier and fight our way inside, but as soon as you're in, you're powerless. We could maybe beat him if we take about 100,000 Cerberus Gear units with us…

Ortho: We probably wouldn't even need to fight him if we had that many units. He'd be too stunned to even move…

Head Engineer: Sounds like a good idea, right? But by the time I finish making that many auto-pilot units, his domain will have likely enveloped the whole world by then.

Chief: We have a couple of other concerns, as well. The minds of all those people asleep on Sage's Island, they're all trapped within Malleus's magical barrier. And according to our analyses, we've discovered they're all currently "dreaming".

Ortho: Dreaming…? You mean the illusionary phenomenon humans experience when in REM sleep?

Head Engineer: Correct. His magic is tricking them into believing that what they're seeing in those dreams is real. It almost works like the Lethe River system, in a way. So if we go in guns a-blazing and try to destroy the barrier, we just might end up destroying everyone's minds along with it.

Ortho: I get it… It's like the domain is one huge server. And that means… Pretty much our only option is to try and convince Malleus-san to bring down the domain himself and let everybody go.

Candle Spells: Unlocking the Power of Intention

Candles have been used for centuries in various spiritual practices and rituals. They hold a special significance in many cultures, symbolizing illumination, purification, and divine connection. But did you know that candles can also be used as potent tools for spellcasting?

Candle spells are a form of sympathetic magic, where the energy generated from burning candles is harnessed to manifest specific intentions or desires. This practice taps into the power of focused intention, visualization, and symbolism to create positive change in our lives.

Choosing the Right Candle

The first step in candle spellwork is selecting the appropriate candle colour based on your intention. Each colour holds its own vibrational frequency and corresponds to different aspects of life. For instance:

- White candles represent purity, clarity, and spiritual enlightenment.

- Red candles embody passion, love, courage, and strength.

- Green candles signify prosperity, abundance, growth, and healing.

- Blue candles bring tranquility, calmness, and communication.

- Yellow candles symbolize happiness, confidence, and intellectual pursuits.

These are just a few examples; there is an array of colours available with their unique properties. Trust your intuition when choosing a candle or refer to correspondences found in books or online resources.

Setting Up Your Sacred Space

Creating a sacred space helps establish an environment conducive to spellcasting. Cleanse the area by smudging with sage or burning some incense to clear any negative energies. Arrange crystals or other meaningful objects that align with your intention around your workspace.

It's essential to set your intention clearly before beginning any ritual work. Spend a few moments meditating on what you wish to manifest through this candle spell. Visualize your desired outcome as vividly as possible.

Preparing Your Candle

Once you've chosen the right candle colour and established your intent, it's time to prepare your candle for spellwork. Carve symbols or words into the wax that represent your intention. For example, if you're seeking love, you might carve a heart or the name of your desired partner.

Anointing the candle with an appropriate oil further enhances its power. Use oils like lavender for peace, rosemary for protection, or cinnamon for prosperity. As you anoint the candle, visualize your intent merging with the oil and infusing the candle with energy.

Candle Spell Ritual

To begin your candle spell ritual:

1. Light some incense or smudge yourself to cleanse your aura.

2. Place your prepared candle in a fire-safe holder and light it.

3. As you light the flame, recite an affirmation or chant that reflects your intention clearly.

4. Sit in front of the lit candle and focus on its flame while visualizing your desired outcome.

5. Feel the energy flowing from within you and connecting with the flame's energy.

6. Repeat affirmations, prayers, or mantras that align with your intention.

Closing Your Ritual

Once you feel ready to conclude your ritual, thank any deities or divine forces you invoked during your practice. Extinguish the candle using a snuffer instead of blowing it out to preserve the magical energy generated during the spellwork.

Aftermath

Allow the candle to burn completely if possible, symbolizing the fulfillment of your intention. If extinguishing is necessary before it burns out naturally, relight it whenever possible until fully consumed.

Technomancy 101

Hi, friends! I'm back with another witchy FAQ from the past couple weeks. This time from the world of tech magic!

Here are some quick TL;DR technomancy tips for those who may not want to read the long FAQs post beneath the cut:

1. Chest spells (like a jar spell but with a chest filled with in game items that match the intent)

2. Poppet spells using the game characters by giving them items or altering their names/appearances

3. Similar to a chest spell but not necessarily magic per se - using chests or sheds with in-game items as altars and/or offerings

4. Build a shrine / altar / temple with offerings, or leave an item such as a torch in the game world as an offering

5. Burn/bury/destroy ingredients to activate a spell with the desired effect

6. Write an affirmation or a spell on a sign or other in-game item and destroy it to activate as a sigil

7. Build a golem or animal pen or something as a servitor for protection

8. Use some form of sympathetic magic connecting in-game items to IRL items

9. Light sticks, flashlights, plastic lightsabers, and toy sonic screwdrivers make *awesome* wands, especially if they light up and make noise.

10. The possibilities are limited to your imagination!!

What is technomancy?: Technomancy, techno magic, and tech magic are all terms for a form of magic that utilizes common modern technology, such as smartphones and video games. Technically, “technomancy” could refer specifically to divination with technology; however, in my experience, the term usually has a broader meaning in common usage. I personally tend to use these terms interchangeably, with perhaps a slight preference for technomancy, since I learned that name first.

What are some forms of technomancy?: Common forms of technomancy include digital sigils, emoji spells, shufflemancy, video game spells, and video game altars.

How do I create a digital sigil?: The ways are about as unlimited as creating a physical sigil on paper. You can use a drawing app on a smartphone or tablet, find a digital sigil generator online, use a photo editor on a picture, or even add a string of charged letters to an email signature (just make sure they blend in!).

OK, and what's the deal with emoji spells?: Yes, this is an actual thing (though not a thing that I'm particularly experienced with). They're pretty straightforward. They can be done like a sigil - string emojis together and charge them. Or like an actual spell - put them together and send to cast, or like to charge and send/reblog to cast.

What kind of games can you use for technomancy?: Any of them. Minecraft is a very popular one. So is Stardew Valley. Skyrim and other RPGs are other common choices. As with other forms of magic, the only real limit is your imagination.

What kind of spells can you cast in a game?:

Chest spells - like digital jar spells - are very common.

Poppet spells are another common choice. In games that allow you to create a character, or in games where you can give items to an NPC, you can turn the character into a poppet of someone and give them an item to cast the spell. For example, if I wanted emotional strength, I could create a Skyrim character as a poppet for myself, and have the character drink a strength potion to cast a spell of strength for myself in the real world.

Burying or burning items in games like Minecraft can be done to cast spells that are similar to physical spells that require burning a paper, bay leaf, or other ingredient.

Enchanting! Use the enchanting function in a video game like Skyrim or Minecraft to enchant a physical object. For example, you might choose to connect a physical scarf to a shield in Skyrim, and when you enchant the in-game shield with a damage resistance effect, voila! You now have a fancy enchanted scarf to protect yourself from spiritual attacks.

Customize your avatar to your advantage! In games such as Sky: Children Of The Light, where you can accessorize your character, you can equip different items to cast a different spell on yourself. For example, you might use the Saluting Captain's staff as a cosmetic to cast a spell of protection on yourself, or you could use a particular cape as a spiritual veil.

For deity work & spirit work, consider creating a space in your game (e.g. a chest, shed, home, biome, character, etc.) dedicated to the entities you work with. For example, temples and altars in Minecraft are common. Devotional sheds and chests are popular in Stardew Valley. I’ve named some appropriate Pokemon after an entity or dedicated the critter to them. You can even place a torch or candle in the game world as an offering.

There are lots more out there, too! This list is a starting point, not a limitation. Use your imagination and swap ideas with others, too!

How exactly does all of this work?? How is it possible?!: OK, so the principle behind tech magic is that you're harnessing the energy of multiple sources.

First, the device itself (and if you're using something like a Switch, the cartridge or other physical media). Each of these items has its own materials - electricity, glass and metal, etc. And each of those materials has a magical property that you can use... Glass and metal come from the Earth and have their own correspondences, while electricity is pure energy in itself.

Second, you have the energy of symbolism, or as I like to think of it with a butchered sociology term, symbolic interactionism - i.e., the idea that we create our own reality (or our *perception* of reality) via symbols. In other words, the power of correspondences! A candle is still a candle whether it's physical or digital. Lapis lazuli has the same qualities in this world that it does in a pixelated version. And so forth. So when you use the correspondences in digital spell work, provided that you raise the energy, it can and does have real world consequences. Similar to doing magic in the astral as opposed to the physical world... you are making a conscious decision to connect a digital item to an effect either in the astral and/or physical worlds.

Finally, you're also harnessing the power of belief and the energy of attention, which is where the chaos magic concepts start to come in. The digital worlds are real because you believe they are and you pour parts of your energy and personality into them - and so do *millions* of other people, in many cases. All of that energy is sort of like a reservoir in these games and it's just waiting to be harvested for spell work!

So… This is another subset of chaos magic, then.: Pretty much, yes. I haven't seen it categorized as anything else yet, except for in those cases where technomancy is given its own category.

And what did you mean by “energy of symbolism” again?: Correspondences. Both traditional ones and your own. For example, obsidian corresponds with protection IRL. So if you were making a chest spell in Minecraft for protection, you'd want to consider adding an obsidian block to your spell. Some of this is also stuff that you can brainstorm on your own and explore! Like for example, in the Elder Scrolls series, there are several plants and items that don't exist IRL, such as the corkbulb root - but in the game, that item can be used to make a potion of healing, so for me, it has a healing correspondence. Also, if the game you’re playing has spells already, you can consider how to adapt those spells to affect the real world in a logical, realistic way! Many pop culture magicians have done a great job of turning Pokemon moves into real spells, for example. So feel free to play around (pun intended) and see what works best for you!

How come you only mentioned shufflemancy once in this whole entire post??: That, my friend, needs to be a post for a later date. I assure you, I absolutely can (and probably already have, and probably eventually will) write an entire post about shufflemancy.

2006, Tokyo Jujutsu High

You weren't really interested in sorcery and had grown to do things that weren't fully related to it, unlike your older sister who is already experienced. Your parents had only forced you to enroll in her school; after all, you were born into a powerful family filled with sorcerers. You have the potential to become one, but it sounds incredibly boring and doesn't seem to suit your tastes. Korimu, your older sister, is a talented student at Jujutsu High. She has great performance, which means you don't have much time to bond. Lately, there has been a lot of awkward tension between the two of you. "Stop complaining, you'll do fine," your sister Korimu says, continuing to comb your hair regardless of your grumbling and whispering. You fold your arms and avoid eye contact with her in the reflection of the mirror. "I am not," you retort back, trying anything just to compose yourself. "Is that so? Well, by the look on your face, you seem like you're casting a spell under your breath." Your eyes roll in irritation, building up and growing heavy on your nerves. "Whatever, Mom and Dad just forced me to enroll in your school because you're a fourth-year in a school where sorcerers learn." "Perhaps, but you have every opportunity and the potential to become a sorcerer. You know, saving people and fighting curses? Isn't it at least fulfilling to achieve something for the people around you?" "To you, but it's not my destiny or right to become one." Korimu sighs at your comment, knowing how stubborn you are when discussing sorcery. "Y/n, you inherited the power that you rightfully deserve from our clan, where you were blessed as soon as you were born. It's not better or worse than mine, so please, take this opportunity. You can't just wait for someone to tell you this." You were slightly convinced by the sound of desperation in your older sister's tone. "Fine, but that doesn't mean that I'm fully convinced yet." You brush her hands off and begin to stand up from your seat. You swear that when you ever-so-slightly lay a glance on her, there is a genuine and small smile worn across her lips as soon as she hears your response. You have to admit, though, you're not mentally or physically prepared to become a sorcerer. You don't learn martial arts like your sister, your body is stiff, and you punch like a stick. In a way, you sort of wish it was your sister who inherited your power instead of you.

"Ah, wipe that gloomy expression off your face, Y/n. It's only your first day at your sister's school! I'm sure you'll get used to it, sweetheart," you deadpan while your mother smother you with affection. However, despite your mother's reassuring words, you don't actually feel reassured at all. Your mother drops the two of you off at school before heading to work. Your parents don't spend much time bonding, except on weekends. I guess it's not so bad. "See you later, mom." Korimu waves goodbye, giving her one last smile and a kiss on the cheek before she reverses the car. "No kisses for mom?" Korimu tilts her head, but you don't respond.

FIRST POINT OF VIEW

"Korimu, what are you planning to do this time?" I raise an eyebrow, suspecting her movements, as she made her way outside the walls of Jujutsu High, jumping off the tall railing with ease and I couldn't see whether she jumped safely down the ground. My heart almost dropped and I immediately rushed to the railings, to check Korimu "Y/n! jump down here! I'll catch you! Promise!" Korimu called out and my heart was beating like crazy. My eyes open wide and shake my head in response. "Just do it!" I could hear her ordering again but I don't know for whatever reason, I was under the impression that she wouldn't catch me but yet again there's another good reason why she can catch me. She's an experienced sorcerer. "Korimu! You're too damn fast!" "Well, that's a sorcerer thing, you know!" Damn, we've been running for what feels like forever... I'm already exhausted... Where is this woman even taking me? We're not even inside the school building. "Where the hell are you taking me, woman?" This lady has an insane amount of stamina... In other words, Korimu looks around the area while effortlessly standing on another broken railing. "Well, I have an urgent mission to take care of for the second-years as well as my classmates." "And your brilliant idea was to bring me here?" "Yup." Her response is both annoying and tiring, and I have to suffer hearing every word come out of her mouth every time now. "Oh, I can already hear the mansion from very far away." "What- Nevermind, I'm not even going to question where you get these senses from..."

A few long seconds later,

We finally arrive and I can barely keep up with Korimu's pace... She's just like Yuki, both of them are beasts. "Oh, Y/n... Stop being dramatic and toughen up! That was the fastest lap I've ever done. I had to carry your scrawny little ass on the way here!" I can hear her laughing heartily while I was still thrown onto her shoulder, upset. As we get closer, it's quite a scene of destruction, but there is an unexpected encounter, I suppose. "Utahime, you cryin'?" the guy with sunglasses taunts, tilting his head, a devious grin plastered to that face. "NO, I'M NOT! AND BE MORE POLITE!" The girl, presumably Utahime, barking at him like how a wild dog would do to a stray cat. "If I was crying, would you console me? I'd definitely like that." for some reason, I have no idea what to react after that attractive girl intervened. "Nah, you wouldn't cry Mei. You're strong." As for Utahime... She grows more tense and aggresive while quite literally getting hovered by a bricked and concrete wall. While she was about to say something, Korimu makes an entrance and I was still obviously carried onto her shoulder. And some giant curse was about to attack Utahime but quickly got swallowed up by another curse. "Don't swallow it, I'll absorb it later." "Heya, Utahime! How are my fellow second-years doing? Wow, you guys really dropped the ball on taking care of Utahime and Mei Mei! You guys absolutely suck!" Korimu gives the second-years a thumbs up, which actually managed to compose Utahime slightly after her attention shifts to the two of us as soon she noticed her attention. "TSUKUMO! THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE HERE!" Utahime exclaims in relief while she runs her her way here, embracing Korimu tightly. I flinch slightly at her loud voice as I awkwardly shuffle to Korimu's shoulder. "Korimu, put me down, this is riduculous." "Tsukumo-senpaiii." Both the girl with the short haircut and the guy with sunglasses say in unison, and Korimu smiles back at them. "You're always late for an upperclassman, and you're also terrible at taking care of us." their attention then shift to me, analyzing me for a short moment before speaking

"Tsukumo-senpai, you didn't kidnap someone, did you? I know you have a habit of making us second-years as your child but I didn't expect you to take that level, way to go chief." "Do you guys seriously think of me that way as your senior...? After 1 year of teaching you guys with the tricks I have up on my sleeve, this is what I earn?" Korimu wipes an imaginary tear from her cheek, swaying her hair dramatically. "Pfft, well if you're referring to drugs, yeah." "Satoru, It's not nice to speak to your elders like that." "Don't spread your non-sense to my sibling, Gojo, and I'm not that damn old Geto. Anyway...This is my little sister, Y/n. She'll be your new classmate," she finally sets me back down to the ground and introduces me to anyone. "And these three are your classmates. Shoko Ieri, Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo."

"It's nice to meet you." Shoko offered a small nod and a smile as well. Though, I have no clue what to reply back than to just to repeat what she did without the smile stuff. Oh man... This is awkward, I'm technically classmates with Geto. He used to be my former partner after the we got arranged not unil it got cancelled, a year ago. "Why It's nice seeing you again, It's been quite a while since we've seen each other in face to face, is it not, Y/n? I see that you're still the same as always." there he goes, he brought up the fact we know each other but thank goodness it wasn't that we used to have an arranged marriage. Ah darn. "Indeed, I could say the same to you." I silently acknowledged, he smiled sincerely to me but I was unsure If I were the need to smile back at him as well. I recall during our time together, I showed bits and bits of emotions to him. "My, my. You have history with Tsukumo-senpai's sister, Suguru? You sneak." I cleared my throat as soon Gojo began to intervene the conversation, a soft laugh past Korimu's lips, but Utahime was still here, silently shooting daggers to her glare towards to Gojo alone. "Korimu! You better not be off slacking with these imbeciles that lack respect, I'm telling you! You're growing in your ego as their upperclassmen! Basically causing trouble and treating them like your own!" Utahime scolds, while shaking Korimu's arms but she just had a stupid grin on her face and I began to roll my eyes, folding my arms as I witness the chaos unfold. "Bwahaa... Whatever do you mean! I'm a good senior at em, teaching the young ones what I have up in my sleeves!" "THE FOUR OF YOU CASUALLY BLOWN UP THE CHEMISTRY ROOM YESTERDAY! WITH THE SECOND-YEARS!"

"And it was damn flashy when we did it! Now live a litte, Utahime! There's times in short life where you have to entertain your self!" Korimu pats her arm which seems more like a slap in my view, she turns her attention to me, she hooked her arms with mine. "Anyways you three, where's the curtain?" Korimu turns her attention to the second-years within her arms linked with mine and they went absolute pale at the question. "Hm, right. I was about to ask that too." Mei states, her arms folded as well with pretty half lidded eyes.

A very very few minutes later

"You think they'll be fine?" "Yeaahh... No, 50/50 chance. Yaga-sensei is prettyyy strict, but ya know, they'll live." Korimu smiles, and her posture always seems relaxed and comfortable inside Jujutsu High, her classmates, and my classmates whereas she treats them like her own children and causes trouble around with them. She's a lot livelier in here than at home. We waited outside the room for Yaga to finish to scold them three... Or at least one of them. "Right..." I mumbled while staring down at the ground, silently fidgeting with my hands that were placed on my sides. I wasn't sure whether the question I decided should be at the right time here now, though. I still feel Incredibly hesitant. Korimu eyes me and a chuckle escapes her lips. "What is it, you look like you're about to confess your love to me." she jokingly said so and I barfed, causing her to giggle at my reaction. "You're gonna make me vomit," "Just say it, what's stopping you? We have the time to talk about it before Yaga's scolding stops." I stayed silent for a short moment before finally speaking. could you elucidate on why coffeelocks are bad actually? my friend is a bit obsessed with them right now and i’ve never liked the specific build but i’d love to have concrete reasons that aren’t just opinions!

YES. Somewhere in my archives I think I actually did the math on like, how many short rests you have to take for this to pay any dividends, and it was a LOT, but that was during full lockdown iirc and you do not have to do this much work.

The basic gist of coffeelock for those wondering is that warlocks recharge spell slots on a short rest, and sorcerers can convert sorcery points into spell slots and vice versa. The idea is that if you take Pact of the Tome and then Aspect of the Moon as an eldritch invocation, you never have to long rest again and can just farm sorcery points/spell slots for 8 hours each night.

Now: the most obvious issue is that any reasonable DM who hears about this will look at you and say "I don't care if it's technically legal, I think it's annoying and I'm not going to let you do it." But let's assume your DM does not shut it down.

You have infinite spell slots at level 5. You are warlock 3 sorcerer 2. You know 7 spells total, which is what you'd know had you leveled to level 5 in either of these classes, except you also know 6 level 1 spells and 1 level 2 spell, max. Someone who leveled normally would have fireball, or dispel magic, or counterspell, and if they were divine soul they might even have revivify, but not you! This will eventually get slightly better at higher levels but if you're the party's main arcane caster this sucks and if you're in a party with fewer than like, five people, or perhaps a really caster heavy party, you're putting a lot of burden on other people to do the utility early on so that your dumb ass can cast magic missile 20 times a day or whatever.

I don't actually care for sorlock just generally, in the absence of coffeelock bullshit. Yes, it depends on the same main stat, but a bard or paladin combo will actually significantly broaden your repertoire. Sorcerer and Warlock have a LOT of spell overlap, and metamagic is one of those things that is like, super clutch 0.1% of the time and the rest of the time it's like oh ok (though I guess as a coffeelock you're not even really using metamagic! total waste of being a sorcerer, which is the weakest caster already! great job.). Meanwhile, two of the big strengths of warlock are 1. eldritch blast, a cantrip you can already cast infinite times without spell slots, and 2. eldritch invocations, which you have to level in warlock to get. Dipping into sorcerer means fewer invocations. Basically, all multiclassing is a trade off and I feel like this is at most the sum of its parts, certainly not more. I also think it's very tricky to play this in a way that is narratively interesting and makes sense for your character while also abiding by the specific leveling requirements of coffeelock. This isn't an issue in a one-shot but also in a one-shot you simply might not even take a long rest which renders the entire thing useless.

You have to take Pact of the Tome, which means you are spending all this time and effort and build for infinite spell slots but also you have, without any racial bonuses, literally 9 cantrips (ie, at-will spells) at level 5. And none of them are dispel magic, because that is too high for you for at least another 2 levels and that's only if you choose to continue in warlock. Also, actually, until you reach L9 in specifically divine soul sorcerer, you don't have greater restoration as discussed, so yeah your DM can just be like "oh you don't have to sleep but you do still gain exhaustion."

I lied and I did some math. So: you are a L5 coffeelock. let's say you have exhausted all your resources on day 1. You sit down for your little bullshit 8 short rests. You can never have more than two sorcery points, because the PHB page 101 says that you can't exceed the number of sorcery points shown on the table for your level. So every hour you convert one L2 spell slot (recharging) into a L1 spell slot (non-recharging), and repeat this (you can't convert both at once! because then you exceed two sorcery points!) and you end the night with 14 L1 spells and your two L2 warlock spell slots. If you are lucky, you might get like, one short rest if there is a monk or wizard or fighter in the party and they don't hate you so much that they're willing to go without ki points/second winds/arcane recovery, and they might. I guess you just stockpile low level spells indefinitely until you have to sleep finally? if you have a week of downtime do you just. walk around with hundreds of first level spell slots and not think this is the dumbest shit of all time? ooooh look at me i can cast fucking...detect magic for 24 hours straight. can't dispel any of it though!

Leveling up is a bitch too if I recall. You need to level up in sorcerer to get more points so you can eventually convert to higher level spells, and the exchange rate is not generous (like, if you're not sleeping, it's ok, but it's not in your favor as shown with the L2 to L1 conversion) and imo warlock is the superior class, and you're probably not really taking advantage of metamagic anyway so you're barely reaping the benefits of being a sorcerer except for flexible casting. Do you feel good about this? Is this fun for you? Your entire table is watching you count out your spell slots each night and hoping fervently you get audited by the IRS in real life but man you sure showed them by being able to cast chromatic orb a lot!

Also you can't use items that recharge on a long rest, only ones that recharge at dawn. Sucker.

This is all very long because I think coffeelock is an annoying build for people who think they are smart and really aren't, but the gist is that you trade away a great deal of your utility, ability to help the party, and ability to do anything except cast rather low-level spells in comparison to what everyone who made better decisions is doing. Also it's LAUGHABLY easy for the DM to fuck this over for you within the bounds of the rules even if they allowed it. Your patron gets annoyed that you're only leveling in sorcerer. Levels of exhaustion. Your patron, who communicates through dreams, straight up abandons you because you're not picking up their calls. You keep being put in positions where your 75 first level spells won't do shit and a single third level spell would. They taunt you with items that recharge on a long rest.

It's just...well, quantity over quality. Shein haul ass character build.

This is the first request I ever recieved on the acount and I can’t belive it took this long to write it... I am so sorry to the person who requested this, and I’m sorry for those who have been waiting to read it! I forgot to mention quite a bit of things you mentioned in your ask, which I apoligize for... but I am really happy with this outcome! I hope you enjoy it!

Description: Reader is pregnant during filming for her and Austin’s movie. After the movie wraps up, the reader throws one last party to bid farewell to her costars and to all the lovely people who helped on the film. This is where they tell everyone that they are expecting.

Being an actor/actress has its ups and downs. Sure, you get to become a new character and play a role, but on the other hand... you become a target. Rather it's from fans, casting directors, assistants, etc. They wanted to pull every ounce of information out of you. You knew being a childhood actor would pretty much throw away any sense of privacy you had... well... that was until you became older.

You were able to hold a close grip on your privacy. Keeping away from all types of social media. Staying out of the public eye. To be fair, you spent most of your time at home, and you had no regret. When you were filming for a very popular tv show... Zoey 101 you met Austin Butler. Your current boyfriend. He was much like you where you wanted to keep your life private. He showed you his ways and you appreciated all the help.

The two of you have been together since, okay maybe... let's add some context to that. You met Austin back in 2008 during the filming of Zoey 101. You two didn't start dating until 2010. You guys have been in a pretty long relationship now, and neither one of you wanted to get married at the moment. Sure, you've been together for more than 10 years, but you two felt no need to get married... just yet. Then, one afternoon... the two of you received the most shocking news of your lives.

You held your eyes closed as you waited for those painful five minutes to pass. It seemed like hours... five long painful hours. Of course, that was just your brain talking. You kept glancing at your phone to watch the timer tick down. It was eating you alive, but... you didn't want the timer to end. You wanted it to continue forever... you didn't want it to happen. Not to mention you had to start filming for a movie soon!

As the time went off you clicked tapped the turn-off button. You looked over at the counter where the test laid and picked it up. One line... come on... just show one line.

Two lines...Of course, it was fucking two lines! Right when you had such a big role coming up! FUCK!

You tossed the test to the side and closed your eyes in hopes to stop any waterworks from happening. Of course, they didn't help and probably made it worse. Tears started to form and find their way out of your lids. You clenched the sink counter and sunk yourself lower to the ground. You let out a sob and whimpered. You couldn't believe this happened. I mean... hell, you two knew how to do safe sex. You took the pill! Austin always wore a condom no matter what- Hell were you two even ready to be parents?

There was a soft knock at the door and you jointed up straight. You sucked in a breath and wiped away your tears. Sure, it's probably easiest to tell Austin now... but you didn't even know what to do... you should tell him, right? Of course, you should tell him but right now? 

"Honey, are you all right in there?" You heard Austin's voice on the other side of the door. You took a deep breath and prayed that your voice didn't let you down. 

"Y-yeah." God fucking dammit! Of course, your voice would do that to you. It always did no matter what. It was how Austin knew something was always bothering you.

"Can I come in?" You nodded slowly, but after realizing he couldn't see you... you gave out a verbal answer. The door soon opened and Austin walked in. His dirty blond hair all messy. He walked over to you, wrapped his arms around your waist, and pulled you back against his chest.

"What's wrong?" You let out a light sigh and motioned towards the test. Austin looked over and picked it up. You heard his breathing hitch as he noticed it also. The two lines... the cross... clearly indicating that you were indeed pregnant.

"Oh- I mean... we got this... we got this." He said softly and held you close. You took a deep breath and let the tears fall. You were scared, Austin was scared... you both were entirely scared. What if you two were going to be bad parents? I mean... come on... You two aren't ready for this. Both of your careers were really popping off. Austin was filming Elvis soon, and you were... well now you had to take a break because you were pregnant.

"Do these look okay?" You asked Austin as you handed him an invitation. Austin took it out of your hands and looked it over.

"What's this for?" He asked in return, turning his gaze towards you.

"For our pregnancy announcement, and gender reveal. With the cast members since we're wrapping up today." You reminded him. You didn't take offense to him not remembering. Everything was all over the place since you found out you were pregnant.

"Right," he nodded and looked over the invite again. He nodded and hand you the invite back. "They're amazing."

"Really?" You asked with a small smile.

"Always," he smiled and kissed your cheek. "Did you want me to hand out some?" 

"Yes please," you nodded and split the invitations in half. 

The list wasn't that long. You were only going to invite the people that you two knew and were friends with. You weren't going to invite some of the people that worked on set that neither of you talked to. Plus, since you and Austin held such private lives, you didn't want the world to know that you two were expecting a baby. So, you invited those whom you trusted. Ones who wouldn't go behind your back to record or take pictures to post all over social media.

Once the final call was set out, the two of you went your separate ways. You finished recording your shots yesterday. Austin had to do a few more, and then it was a wrap. You were extremely thankful that you were still allowed to be apart of this movie. Some things had to be changed obviously... like your character was changed to being pregnant... but it all worked out. No one suspected anything.

With a short kiss goodbye, you guys went your separate ways. You hit the rounds where your closest friends were and handed them the invite. Some commented on your still wearing your pregnancy belly... boy if only they knew... but you were able to make up a cover story. It did take quite longer than imagined when handing out the invites... mostly due to the plot being so huge and everyone just being everywhere. You had to take a couple of breaks... which you aren't happy about but... you still got it done. 

So, once you got back to the trailer you plopped down on the couch and closed your eyes for a much-needed nap. Being pregnant was no joke. You felt bad not being able to do much, but Austin always told you that it didn't matter. You were using a lot of energy. Not to mention, you were doubling everything. It got rough at some moments, but it was all worth it.

You woke to your body being shaken lightly. You let out a hum and opened your eyes spotting Austin. You smiled and rubbed your eyes. 

"Hey, honey, you tired?" He asked and picked up your legs before sitting down next to you.

"Mhm," You nodded and moved so that you were laying on your back. Austin placed your legs back over his lap and rubbed your calves lightly.

"We can leave if you want. We got all our stuff moved out yesterday." He suggested. The two of you spent the past few days taking your personal items out of your shared trailer and it was a job... of course, Austin didn't let you do too much heavy lifting. 

"That sounds nice." You hummed softly. 

"Yeah?" He chuckled lightly, "so you could sleep in our own bed?"

"Yes," you nodded with a smile. He shook his head but held a smile just as you did. 

So, you two made your way off the lot. After turning in a few items of course. You two were surely off on that road back to your shared house. The party was early tomorrow considering so many people had to catch planes to fly back to their own homes. You also knew that... Austin will probably not let you help much. You'll definitely find a way to sneak into helping. 

The next day came way quicker than expected. You were being woken up by Austin and soon were pulled out of bed. Your house was already filled with people setting up the part. Decorations were going out into the backyard, food was being made for guests. Austin was down helping everything and honest... you could go for a big breakfast right now, and that's what you did. 

One of the nice ladies catering offered to make you some breakfast, and lord were you thankful. It was simple food, but it tasted amazing! No offense to your boyfriend's cooking, but it was amazing. It didn't take long until Austin noticed you were awake. He walked over to you and pressed a kiss to your head as you were munching away on your eggs.

"Good morning, Honey. You excited for today?" He asked as he pulled out the chair from beside you. You nodded and swallowed your food before speaking.

"I'm excited to find out the sex." You smiled softly. In all honestly, it didn't bother you. You couldn't care less about the sex, but you were still so excited to find out.

"So am I," Austin smiled in agreement. "Yet, I'm also excited to tell our friends and family."

That's right... you guys didn't even tell your families. You forgot about that part. You knew your sister would be overly upset, but once the guests started to arrive and see the decorations... they could most likely put two and two together. You did feel a bit guilty for not telling your family members, but your mother loved to share everything on Facebook. So, it was best that she didn't know.

"I almost forgot we didn't tell our family," you pointed out as you bit a piece of bacon.

"Yeah, same. I only remembered when I was handing out invitations. I texted our families once I was free." He said. So, he was the one who remembered to invite them? That's good.

"When does the party start again?" You asked, already forgetting the time you both agreed on. Pregnancy brain was really getting to you now.

"'Bout elven. I don't know how many people will show, but," he shrugged. You nodded and decided it was best to finish your breakfast and get ready. 

After you got dressed into a sundress that clearly showed off your bump, you made your way back downstairs where you could hear soft music playing. You smiled and made your way outside to look at everything, and it was everything you could have imagined and much more. There were pink and blue cupcakes... two little chalkboards where you could write your predictions. You walked over towards them and spotted Austin's name already down. 

He voted for a girl and you couldn't help but smile. You picked up your marker and wrote your name next to Austin's. A little girl would be nice... Especially if she was blond and had blue eyes. You just wanted a mini Austin if you were being honest. 

"Look at this gorgeous girl," you heard Austin's voice behind you. You let out a chuckle and closed the marker before turning to look at him.

"Hi, Austin," you smiled.

"Hi Honey," he replied and looked past you. He smiled once he saw that you wrote your name under girl as well. "I really like this dress. How come you've been hiding it from me?"

"Because I bought it for this party." You giggled and walked away, going to look at the other decorations. You guys didn't ask to bring gifts, mostly because no one would've known... so you had replaced that spot with a goody bag station. Inside were a few baby-themed items and a copy of your ultrasound. 

Before you knew it, friends and family were showing up and were... already excited. Rather it was because they noticed you first, or if it was the decorations that gave it all away. They were all so happy for you and Austin, and felt bad that they didn't notice earlier... and that they didn't bring anything.

"Uh, if we can have your attention." You called everyone over. Austin stood next to you with an arm wrapped around your waist.

"As I'm sure many of you have figured out by now... we are pregnant." You smiled brightly. "And well... it was quite a surprise. We appreciate each and every one of you showing up today. If you haven't already put in your guesses... please do so now. The reveal will be soon, once Ashley gets everything ready."

Ashley was the only one who knew about you being pregnant. She was also the person you went to when you had questions, considering she had a daughter of her own. You were also thankful that she was keeping this whole thing in secret. Of course, she shared with her husband, but she's been keeping it hush-hush per our request.

"Before the gender reveal... I want to do something first." Austin spoke. You looked over at him confused. What did he want to do-

"Y/n, y/l/n," Austin began as he grabbed your hand, and lowered himself down on one knee. You let out a gasp and felt your eyes water up. Goddamn pregnancy hormones, not now!

"We've been together for such a long time... and we've never felt the need to get married before all this... but... I knew from the moment I met you that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I never thought we would have a kid so early on, but... it's better late than never, and... I just knew you're going to make the perfect mom... bride... wife... that is if you'll have me of course." Austin cleared his throat and pulled out a ring box, flipping it open. So this is why he hired photographers...

"Will you marry me?" You nodded unable to speak. Austin smiled wide and stood up and was quick to pull you in for a kiss. Everyone around you clapped, all happy for you both. Elvis slid the ring on your finger and you finally got a close look at it. It was very simple, an oval-cut rainbow moonstone gem in the middle. It was absolutely beautiful and just looking at it... it brought the waterworks back. Not like you stopped crying anyways. 

After taking a few pictures with the photographers you two were back in the front ready for the main event. Ashley handed you both a cannon that hopefully had confetti in it and not power or smoke. A smile was plastered on your face, and you already felt your eyes start to water up once again. You haven't cried so much in one day.

"5! 4! 3! 2! 1!!!!!"

You and Austin both popped the canons and the sky filled with pink specks of confetti. You gasped and felt Austin pull you close. You were having a little baby girl... a sweet little girl. You buried your face against Austin's chest, crying out tears or happiness. Your life was surely fulfilled... and you couldn't be happier. 

You were getting married and having a baby girl.

Gonna keep whining about Frieren's continued slide into mediocrity - if your magic system has a spell to clone other spellcasters who are exactly as powerful as the original, unless the cost of casting that spells kill you, your system essentially has an infinity engine, its generating spell power & mana pools for free. Why would anyone like cast any other spell? Why is this not the foundation of any military force around? And it just breaks that sort of inherent logic these things have, for power to have prices.

Also if you are gonna have these clones, its really not satisfying for them to be beaten by people just pulling new murders spells out of nowhere. That is just 101 stuff, if problems lack stakes they might as well not exist.

Ideas for a Black Phone/Magic School AU

Finney and Gwen are Half-Blooded Mages (Human Father/Witch Mother)

Robin is a Werewolf.

Vance is a Vampire.

Bruce is a Wizard

Griffin is a Changeling.

Billy is a Frankenstein Creature.

Max is a professor of Magic History 101 at N’Evermore.

The Grabber is a Dark Wizard that possesses Blood Magic, the most forbidden form of magic.

For the story, students of N’Evermore are being attacked in the halls of school by a mysterious figure known as The Grabber, who drains his victims of their magical essences. (Either to cast a powerful spell or to undo a curse placed on him for tampering with Blood Magic)

The drainage spell doesn’t kill the kids here, but it does leave them in a comatose-like state barely clinging to life.

With more kids being attacked, magical siblings Finney and Gwen team up with other students to stop The Grabber once and for all.

Headcanons:

Roommates: Finney & Robin. Gwen & Suzie. Billy & Griffin. Vance & Bruce.

Gwens’ magic is considered light while Finneys magic is in a gray area (between light & dark)

Gwen has healing abilities, can link to other people through dreams, and can conjure visions. Finney can cast spells,but above all, he has the ability to connect with spirits of the dead.

Because of her healing abilities, Gwen sometimes volunteers around the Hospital Wing of the school. (That’s how she became connected to the Grabbers victims later on in the story)

Bruce becomes a magical tutor for Finney, who struggles with his powers in the story.

Before attending the school, Bruce inherited his fathers old staff. He wears it around his neck, shrunken size.

Vance became a vampire after his mother survived an attack while pregnant with him. This made him being a vampire… let’s say, a sore subject.

His parents basically left Vance on his own to figure out his powers. Going to N’Evermore was an escape for Vance.

The incident left his mind a jumbling mess, and he can’t remember what happened to him, or his life before. The school is trying to help him with his trauma and to find out who he is.

Harper is his Anxiety Dog, the school let’s Billy take her everywhere.

Hello lovelies~ Today I'm going to be talking about warding: what it is, how to do it, and the differences it has from just regular old protection. Let's get into it

What Is A Ward?

Wards are powerful spells that are used to only allow certain energies into a space. They are typically used for protection and are considered defensive magic, placed in someone's home. While wards can be cast on people, this is less typical due to the nature of wards being more preventative compared to a general protection spell.

They're used to protect areas from negative energies, to warn others to stay away from an area, to inform the caster when someone with evil intent is nearby, to keep a spirit contained, as well as a multitude of other things.

Wards Vs. Protection Spells

This is the most confusing point for many people when the conversation of wards comes up.

Typically, wards are used to prevent something from happening. Protection spells are also able to be used in this way, however they're better used as quick solutions when you're already under attack. Wards are difficult to do when you're already in that hostile situation; the main difference between wards and protection spells is the circumstance you cast them in.

Protection spells are like swords. They're quick, are sometimes able to block attacks, and are able to lash out in defense. Wards are are like shields. They are much more capable of blocking, and they're great for giving you space to build up your sword.
