I need to know if you’ve got romance plans for your rewrite of the sequel (obviously now that theyre twins) and may I suggest Rose as a possible LI for our Jaina 😳
ooohhh i had not considered romance plans. in all honesty i kind of didn't plan for romance bc i wanted to focus heavily on family and i didn't want to over complicate it by adding more main cast (we've got heavy emphasis on jaina & jacen, jaina & finn, jaina & leia, jaina & han, jaina & luke... she's got here hands full narratively). perhaps we give her some flirty moments in side quest territory. maybe she gets flustered by that one blue pilot (i dont remember her name but she was so pretty) and finds friendship in rose? im on my lesbian female friendships shit rn tho so ill circle back to this.
we're doing stormpilot though. no question.

I'm back! (from outer space)
Tumblr media
I know for the last month, I went against my own rule of saving posts as drafts until the end of the month. Sorry about that!
But I would say this break from writing was pretty successful! I'm still feeling anxious about certain stories, but I'm not panicking/going down a spiral like I was at the beginning of the year.
I'll give a quick TLDR for some stuff I've been thinking about and will expand on those under the cut:
New Face Claim for Tessa Brown + other story changes
Discontinuing Black Sheep?
Rewriting Apprentices of the Abyss
Final edits of Daughter of Mandalore + looking for a beta reader
Pokemon Webcomic / Ask Blog Idea
How to celebrate the competition of Heads Will Roll
New Face Claim for Tessa Brown: I've been on the hunt for a new face for Tessa for a little bit. I thought about picking Heather Langenkamp, but right now, I'm leaning more towards Ella Purnell.
I also need to find a new face claim for Tessa's mother if anyone has suggestions.
Discontinuing Black Sheep: This is something I have been sitting on for a while. I talked about before how Black Sheep is a story I'm dreading cuz I just don't like Gilmore Girls. The main things stopping me from outright discontinuing are guilt and love for Riana as a character.
Black Sheep is one of my more popular fics and I feel like I'm being mean to my audience by discontinuing the story.
Right now, I'm thinking I might just move Riana to a different fandom. If anyone has recommendations for shows/movies that take place around the 2000s that you think Riana might fit into, I am all ears!
Rewriting Apprentices of the Abyss: I'm thinking before I start posting Force of Nature: Attack of the Clones, I should go back to the previous book and rewrite it to be much more detailed.
I wanna expand on Eglantine, the 'daki family, and clear up some of the dialogue/story beats cuz it feels forced in the current version.
Beta Reader for Daughter of Mandalore: DoM is a Star Wars fanfic that takes place during Attack of the Clones. It is a sequel and follows the story of a woman trained in the ways of the Sith named Melinoe Lanami.
It is 8 chapters long and is 22386 words long.
If you're interested in beta reading and have any questions, DM me, and we can hopefully work something out.
Pokemon Web Comic Idea: I just really fell in love with this idea of a mockumentary-style Pokemon documentary about three former league champions.
I've been looking into how to do a webcomic, and a lot of the advice is to jump right in, so I'm gonna try and make it my pet art project for the year.
Completion of Heads Will Roll and how to celebrate: In the past, I used to hold giveaways when completing. I dunno, if there's interest I might do one sometime this month, but I'm not too concerned about tbh
The New Taglist: Let me know if you want to be removed/added: @bisexualterror @thehedgehogat221b @margoshansons @waterloou @aceyanaheim @jedi-valjean @asirensrage @arrthurpendragon @foxesandmagic @bi-ologistofthehills @sterling-writes @bluejay-in-write

Not me writing a post just because I saw @wilwheaton 's Spotify Wrapped on Instagram and thought "I can show him some new dark/gothic bands" (Links to the playlists in the band's names. Some of Soda Stereo's songs are translated in my main blog @illegalbilingual #Soda Stereo and #Gustavo Cerati)
So let us begin with my country (Argentina)
Soda Stereo basically our The Police with some The Cure and Bowie mixed in (among others that either I don't recognize or don't remember now). Featuring in this playlist:
-Cae el Sol (Sun's down)-En la ciudad de la furia (In the City of Fury) - Lo que sangra (La cúpula) (What bleeds (The Dome)) - Hombre al agua (Man overboard - I translated it as "Man on water" because I'm dumb) - En el borde (On the Edge)- El ritmo de tus ojos (The Rythm of your eyes)- (En) el Séptimo Día ((On) the Seventh Day)- Tele-ka - Corazón delator (Telltale heart)- De música ligera (Of light music)- Cuando pase el temblor (Once the tremor passes by) - Zoom - Juegos de Seducción (Games of Seduction) - Ella usó mi cabeza como un révolver (She used my head like a revolver)- Entre caníbales (Among canibals).
And if you liked Soda, you should listen to Gustavo Cerati's solo career. Sadly he passed away in 2014 after being in coma for 4 years due to a stroke that wasn't properly diagnosed while on tour. In this list:
Te llevo para que me lleves (I'm taking you so you take me (away))- Rapto (Rapture) - Dejà Vu - Tracción a sangre (Blood traction)- Karaoke - Puente (Bridge) - Crimen (Crime) - Adiós (Goodbye)- La Excepción (The Exception) - Corazón delator (sinfónico) (Telltale heart, simphonic version) - Cosas imposibles (Impossible things)- Paseo inmoral (Immoral walk)
Now... let's go to Russia. Yeah, I know not cool overall but I started to learn the language in 2018 so I'm not quitting now and I try to find artists that oppose everything P*tin stands for so...
Агата Кристи (Agatha Christie). The first time I listened to them I associated them with The Cure and Tears for Fears. Vadim is now a P*tin fan but Gleb (the one that wrote about 80% of their catalogue) is not. In this playlist you'll find:
Как на войне (Like in a war)- Сказочная Тайга (Taiga of fables) - Опиум для никого (Opium for nobody -this song just got banned in Russia) - В интересах революции (In interest of the Revolution) - В такси (In a taxi)- Садо-мазо (Sado-maso)- Абордаж (Boarding) - Гномы каннибали (Canibal gnomes)- Трансильвания (Transylvania)- Декаданс (Decadence)- Пуля (Bullet) - Триллер (Thriller) - Грязь (Dirt) - Кто украл мою звезду (Who stole my star?) - Весёлый мир (Happy world) - Последнее желание (Last wish)‐ Ураган (Hurricane)
Gleb started his own band called The Matrixx (at first known as Глеб Самойлоff + The Matrixx) where he got to do and write whatever he wanted. He experiments a lot. The first few albums are dark -kinda like Marilyn Manson- and very political. The rest are more about stories mixed with lots of techno. In this playlist you'll find:
Сердце и Печень (Heart and liver) - Такой день (That day)- Живые но мёртвые (Alive but dead) - Добрая песня (ft. Линда) (The Kind song -ft. Linda-) - Резня (Massacre) - Любить снова (Love again) - В дверь стучат (Knock on the door)- Москва-река (Moscow river) - Никто не выжил (Nobody survived) - Опасность (Danger)- Мы под огнём (We are under fire)- 13 - Романтика (Romance) - Готика (Gothic) - Звезда (Star) - Умереть за любовь (To die of love)- Синие цветы (Blue flowers) - С.Н (S.N)
Now let me introduce you to Король и Шут (The King and the Jester) a punk-rock band that mixed in some russian folckloric sounds and rock. All the lyrics have some magical/horror twist somewhere. Sadly one of the singers Mihail Gorshenov died in 2013. The other singer Andrey Kniazyev has his own band called Княzz (Prince) but I didn't listen much of it since I feel like something's missing also the last formation of the band renamed themselves Северный флот (Siberian flot after one of the songs) and still play some old songs and new ones. In this list you'll find:
Кукла колдуна (The sorcerer's doll) - Лесник (The Forrest ranger)- Прыгну со скалы (I'll jump off a cliff) - Танец злобного гения (The dance of the evil genie) - Камнем по голове (A stone in the head) - Прокляиый старый дом (The old cursed house)- Хозяин леса (The Forrest's Master)- Ром (Rum) - Ели мясо мужики (The men ate meat)- Мёртвый анархист (The dead anarquist)- Марионетки (Puppets) - Мест Гарри (Harry's revenge) - Джокер (Joker) - Тяни! (Pull!)- Сапоги мертвеца (Dead man's boots) - Валет и Дама (Jack and Queen)- Фокусник (Magician) - Король вечного сна (The King of Eternal Sleep. This reminds me A LOT to Sandman. Translation)- Вестник (Herald)- Дагон (Dagon)- В Париж -домой... (In Paris, home).
Honorable mentions:
Линда - Вороно (Linda - Crow) the videoclip is the weirdest thing ever. I love it.
Super Collection Orchestra - Сильнее (Stronger) from the movie Major Grom: The Plague Doctor -highly recommended-
Лето - Summer
Anzhela Vopit
Толко мной (Just -with- me)
Девочка Roketa (Rocket girl)
Мало (A little)
Голова муэссы (Head of Muessy)
Neon

OUTLANDER: SEASON 7 (HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK)

Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. What are your favorite non-LM Montgomery stories/fandoms (if you feel like sharing)?
This question sent me wandering down a memory lane! It's actually rare for me to participate in fandoms online, although I'll gobble up funny tumblr posts and fics if a particular story latches onto my brain--star wars is really the only other one I'm active, even if that is primarily just writing fic. I think the only other fandoms I've ever gotten really into are Star Wars and Merlin. Between those two, Merlin definitely is the favorite although Star Wars is probably my favorite story. Sorry to the Star Wars fandom, but there's this weird sense of entitlement I've observed (that's present in any fandom to a degree tbf) about how everyone should interpret the characters op's way or they're basic, and that x opinion is not only bad, it's also immoral. Given how big the fandom is and how there usually isn't one dominant opinion but rather factions, the resulting (and usually hypocritical) squabbling disinterests me. I don't want to feel like I have to have a 'star wars political party' to engage with other blogs haha ("oh i'm dni about this ship but pro jedi" etc etc), especially as I'm the sort of person who will explore different interpretations for fun. That's partly why I have loved my LMM peeps so much, because even where there's disagreement, it's usually civil and more importantly, fun :D
anyhow, now that I've gone completely off track haha and told you about my NONfavorite fandoms, I'll sheepishly actually answer your question. I really loved Merlin when I watched it, because I love me some non-gritty fantasy with a sense of humor and a "chosen one" storyline. I have spent many a glorious hour reading fic where Merlin reveals his magic (ah! the catharsis!) and will probably spend many more. In a similar ilk, I've always had a soft spot for Spider-Man in my heart, specifically the older and crankier teacher Peter Parker version from the comics because he's the Ideal. Both of these are further back on the memory lane (more of high school batrachised than Charlotte lucas period of my life batrachised), but they are still near and dear in my heart.
Now in terms of my favorite stories, for THIS question I had to pull out that bad boy, the bulleted list!! (😱) I generally prefer children's fiction to YA nowadays because I like stories that have something to say, and while there are certainly YA books that fill that gap (I'm about to list several! and btw i'd definitely include THG in that), the expectations for children's novels are such that there is usually a "moral," while a good chunk of YA seems to be more "hot people kissing" and a lot of adult fiction is just dreary to me. I don't really participate in the fandoms for any of these below because first of all, they don't exist lmao, but also I didn't feel the need to change or add anything to the story.
Ella Enchanted. I love Gail Carson Levine's fairytales, and Ella is a refreshing and unique idea. When I say I love fantasy stories, what I really mean is that I love Ella Enchanted. I love how Char and her are friends first, and the scene at the end where she [censored for spoilers] and so gets her happily ever after still influences my writing today.
A Monster Calls. Weeping, on the floor, every time I read it it destroys me. I love its gentleness towards grief, and I love its brutal honesty. I also love its recognition of the power of a story. Sometimes I see (and say myself!) "It's just a story," but stories are powerful and should be treated as such. They aren't worth more than people, but they can teach you much people are worth.
Strange the Dreamer. This novel was gorgeously well-written, and its main character is an absent minded librarian who goes on an adventure--how could anyone resist! I remember recommending it to someone and they stayed up very late to finish it haha, they couldn't put it down. It's too wonderful.
Frog and Toad. Yes, they're picture books, And what about it !!? These picture books are cozy and well-written and have more to say than many a long novel I've read. Plus my blog name and brand require inclusion of a toad related bullet.
The Power and the Glory: I just wrote a post about this one, but anything by Graham Greene always makes me stare at the wall afterwards questioning my life. Funnily enough, this is dreary like the other adult fiction I dismissed, but although it's a hopeless situation with hopeless characters, Graham Greene's writing is strong enough this to have become one of my favorite books. Normally after I read fiction like that, I just feel depressed. This book, while dreary, was thought provoking.
A Canticle for Leibowitz. A post apocalyptic novel...that's not about fighting zombies or a book version of an action movie, but about monks. I know that's a complete reduction of the plot, but the idea of a post-nuclear world from the perspective of monks was such a unique idea, it grabbed my brain and didn't let go.
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking. I love all of Ursula Vernon's work for her sense of humor. They're always very well written and I nod along to myself at different points thinking "correct," as the narrator discusses how true love is spending time debating your favorite type of cheese, or how baking so wonderful because you put in all that effort and have chocolate chip cookies at the end to show for it.
Holes. This book not only ties every plot thread together satisfactorily, it does it with a bow, it's that well done. This was my favorite book as a child and has stood the test of time because it's still one of my favorite books as an adult.
Up a Road Slowly. Of all the books on this list, this is the most LMM similar. It definitely is sexist, I'll warn, but the characterization can be incredible. The uncle stays with me as a remarkably complex but well written character.
Heart's Blood. The best Beauty and the Beast version, full stop, thank u very much !! In general Juliet Marillier is one of my favorite fantasy authors.
Calvin and Hobbes. there's really nothing to say here other than it's perfect haha.
A Deadly Education. A take on the magical school--that's dark and intriguing. What if Hogwarts was trying to kill you? i never got into harry potter myself because I read the books when I was slightly too old for them, so this was one of the first "magical school" books I read that captivated my imagination.
James Herriot. I love the old tv show (haven't seen the new one), but i love the books more. Siegfried and Tristan are hilarious, and James Herriot is similar to LMM in that he takes a simple and ordinary setting and bestows it with magic through his writing.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. "Puh-lease," you might be thinking, a movie novelization? Listen to me. Listen. I went through a period in my life where I'd casually read movie novelizations for the fun extra scraps of details. Normally, I'd idly flip my way through and be like eh that was okay, it's a novelization so whatever. I picked this up, and was left being like like what the actual fuck did I just read. This novel is incredible. It's so good that it changed my tepid feelings on the movie and prequels to "ROTS is now one of my favorite stories." I finished that book thinking "where was this movie??" I don't know what Matthew Stover was on when he wrote this, but it singlehandedly redeemed the prequels for me.
Other non book ones: i love the LOTR movies (and books but I don't reread them often), the narnia movies, Stand by Me, the secret life of walter mitty, the prince of egypt, greta gerwig's little women (sobbing. on the floor.). and v for vendetta. I also love New Girl because Nick Miller. In general, same with books, my favorite movies tend to demonstrate a distinct moral imagination and grit rather than just focusing on the journey of a character's emotional health. (ergo, I find prince of egypt much more interesting than turning red, although turning red was a good movie!)
There's also Dear Enemy from Jean Webster (aka the author of daddy long legs) bc her work is also similar to LMM, buuuut it literally and explicitly supports eugenics (a character will occasionally and casually say "we need to let those irish die for the good of society") sooo if you choose to read, know that that's in there depending on your comfort level with gross historical period conventions. (the goodreads reviews are kind of funny because people are like well I liked the story but, um,)
thank you for this ask and your patience with my meandering response!! it was a lot of fun to think of "hmm, what have I stayed up to 3AM reading fanfic for in the past," and you're tempting me to revisit some of these stories :D

Hail the Conquering Hero (Preston Sturges, 1944)
Cast: Eddie Bracken, Ella Raines, William Demarest, Raymond Walburn, Franklin Pangborn, Elizabeth Patterson, Georgia Caine, Al Bridge, Freddie Steele, Bill Edwards, Harry Hayden, Jimmy Conlin, Jimmie Dundee. Screenplay: Preston Sturges. Cinematography: John F. Seitz. Art direction: Haldane Douglas, Hans Dreier. Film editing: Stuart Gilmore. Music: Werner R. Heymann.
It must have taken real nerve to make a film that pokes fun at patriotism, mother love, small towns, political campaigns, and the Marines in the middle of World War II. Preston Sturges's film begins in a small nightclub, where a singer (Julie Gibson) and her backup group of singing waiters launch into a stickily sentimental song, "Home to the Arms of Mother" (music and lyrics by Sturges), during which we see Woodrow Lafayette Pershing Truesmith (Eddie Bracken) drowning his sorrows. When a group of six Marines on leave after having fought at Guadalcanal enters the bar, Woodrow buys a round for them, and is prodded into telling them his sad story: He joined the Marines, trying to follow in the footsteps of his father, a Marine who died in World War I, but was discharged because of chronic hay fever. Instead of returning home to the arms of mother, he went to work in a shipyard and arranged for a friend to send his letters to her from overseas, disguising the fact that he was no longer a Marine. One of the men, Sgt. Heppelfinger (William Demarest), learns that Woodrow's father was his old buddy who fought with him at Belleau Wood, while another, Bugsy (Freddie Steele), is appalled that Woodrow hasn't been home to see his mother since the start of the war. So the Marines collude to take an extremely reluctant Woodrow back to his hometown and pretend that he's a war hero who has just been discharged. Naturally, the plan backfires spectacularly when the whole town joins in the celebration and even railroads Woodrow into running against the corrupt mayor (Raymond Walburn). Speed is of the essence in a farce like this, because if anyone ever gave Woodrow a moment to talk, the whole thing would collapse like a soufflé. On the other hand, too much fast talk can be wearying, so Sturges introduces a romantic subplot: Feeling that he can never return home, Woodrow has written his girlfriend, Libby (Ella Raines), that he has met someone else, so Libby is now engaged to Forrest Noble (Bill Edwards), the son of the town's corrupt mayor. Sturges gives them a long walk-and-talk tracking scene in which Libby, confused by her revived feelings for Woodrow, tries to sort things out with Forrest, but to no avail. It's a funny, beautifully written scene, but it doesn't quite work because neither Raines nor Edwards is up to the acting demands it puts on them. Bracken, however, is wonderful, as are Demarest, Steele, Walburn, and other members of Sturges's usual crew of brilliant character actors, including Franklin Pangborn as the harried planner of the celebration and Jimmy Conlin as the town judge. This was the last film Sturges made under his Paramount contract, which he ended because the studio interfered: It objected, perhaps rightly, to Ella Raines's lack of star power, and took the film out of Sturges's hands and edited it. After a couple of disastrous previews of the studio version, however, Sturges was called back in for rewrites and some new scenes. The revised Sturges version was a hit, and earned him an Oscar nomination for best screenplay.

if you’ve got stuck trying to navigate my blog or attempting to find something in my tags page don’t worry, here’s a short explanation.
i keep my actors and characters they play separate 99.9% of the time for obvious reasons. if they’re not acting, including behind-the-scenes bits, you can find it in their tag. searching also works but it can get mixed up because well, tumblr.
tiny extra tags page coming sometime maybe (will be linked here!)
thanks for reading!

"WOMEN TRAM OPERATORS AND TAXI DRIVERS NOW "ON THE JOB"," Toronto Star. October 22, 1943. Page 2. ---- WOMEN OPERATORS appeared for the first time today in Toronto street cam. One of them was Mrs. M. Corbin, formerly in the C.W.A.C.
"IT'S SWELL and I like it very much." declared Mrs. M. Muir, one of the three who will undergo a 21-day probation period. All have husbands in the armed forces and are determined to make a go of it.
MRS. I. V. LAMPERT says she prefers the work to an office job. T.T.C. already employs women bus drivers.
FIVE taxi drivers' licenses have also been issued to women in Toronto. Two of the recipients were Mrs. Phyllis Murray (at wheel) and Mrs. Phyllis Webb. All five have had many years of driving experience.
Tumblr media
"MOTOR-MATRONS RUN TRAMS OTHERS BEHIND TAXI WHEELS," Toronto Star. October 22, 1943. Page 2. ---- "This Is the Life," Says One as Toronto Transport Turns to the Ladies ---- HUSBANDS SERVING ---- Transportation in Toronto took on a "feminine twist" today with the Introduction of "motor-matrons" to drive street cars and the issuing of the first taxi drivers' licenses to women.
Each of the three new motor-matrons has a husband in the armed forces, and one has a four-month-old baby at home. The feminine version of street car operators are training on the Bay St. run for their new job. They must serve a probationary period of 21 days.
Three women applicants for taxi-driving authority were given licenses at police headquarters. Two others, Inspector Edward Dunn said, had also passed "a very strict test in handling cars and the rules of the road." All five will start work Monday with a Yonge St. taxi firm.
"This Is the Life" Mrs. M. Muir, one of the new T.T.C. drivers, started as a conductor, and before that worked at the Inglis plant. This is the life" she said as she took the controls.
The second driver is Mrs. I. M. Corbin, formerly a motor transport driver in the C.W.A.C.
Mrs. U. V. Lampert, formerly an office worker, was concerned over her car being late on the run.
"We are late," she demurred as she stopped the car at the Wychwood barns. "I have never driven a motor car... my husband is in the R.C.A.F. at Lakeview, training to be a pilot... I have two brothers In the R.C.A.F. Sorry, but we must start this street car moving we mustn't be late and she was off down the tracks.
Taught Others Before "I was a private driving instructress, and put some 400 persons through for their driving permits, "said Mrs. Ella Murray, Castlewood Rd.. the first to pass her taxi-driving test. "I drove trucks and private cars with the R.CA.F. for two years during the last war. This war I was a civilian driver at Malton airport." Mrs. Phyllis Webb, Laird drive, a major with the women's volunteer corps, was a private driving instructress for five years, and has two daughters going to school and a on stationed at Camp Borden in the R.C.C.S. Her husband is a veteran of the last war.
Driving Since 1916 "I've been doing war work since the outbreak of war, and I want to continue to do my it," said Mrs. Esther Burns, Delaware Ave., who sald she has been driving since 1916.
The other licensed drivers are, Mrs. Emma Gorrie, Glenrose Ave., and Mrs. Dorotny Buchanan, King St., Weston, Each will wear the regulation badge and a uniform consistaing of navy blue tunic and skirt, blue shirt, black tie and chauffeur hat.
"The women will clean and polish their cars just like our men drivers," said P. E. Amie, president of the Deer Park Livery, "and if they get a flat tire while they're out on a trip, they'll change the tire. They'Il work ten and a half hours a day, and receive the same pay as the men."

friend, you said "obscure OC" and I FLEW to your inbox lol
For your consideration in the OC x OC game, I present: Dorian Gor, Mandalorian bounty hunter during and after the Clone Wars.
Dorian is a bit of a stoic figure, doesn't get along well with people on the surface because she prefers working alone. Thinks it's easier to not get attached, and to not have "dead weight" to care about while hunting and collecting on bounties. But for the rare person who can break through her tough facade, they'd find a very lonely individual.
When not on hunts, Dorian hustles sabacc and pool in backwater cantinas. These are the few times she's grateful for the stubborn R2 unit that decided to follow her around one day, because he can help slice into networks while she provides cover. Her favorite place is hyperspace.
happy shipping!
Oh this is interesting and I want to suggest one of my OCs in a specific era of their lives as a friend.
Tumblr media
After Order 66 Ella Orunitia spends her time locating oddities and antiquities of value to sell with various merchants through out the galaxy to support the family “back home”. I think that’s when they would meet.
Their paths intersect at some point, Dorian on a hunt, Ella searching for an item to sell off. One gives the other an assist or save.
They run into each other in those cantinas a few time because Ella is doing the same (without her partners knowing about it) to comp some of the fuel and docking charges.
Maybe they team up on a card hustle together, maybe one passes the other needed info. Ella at this stage is also very guarded as she is hiding her former Jedi identity and some of those “at home”
They would find each other a solid touch point in these cantinas and ports. Would find each other dependable for good information.
If at some point they did hit a point where there would be some opening up (I don’t know how she feels about the Jedi or the Empire if she would turn in a former Jedi for bounty etc) Ella would definitely speak to that loneliness and do her best to be there for her in whatever capacity Dorian would allow.
So if all of that is reasonable. There would be definite team ups on hustles with cards and pool. Also whatever the star wars version of darts would be.
Using each other as one of the people they use to call for back up in extreme situations (or when they just physically need two people).
Ella sends text coms with stupid “dad” jokes just for either an an amused huff or an exasperated sigh and whatever text response she would get just as an “I’m alive and well, and you?”
I hope I got her close to right!!! This was fun😁

What part of the Star Wars sequels was your LEAST favorite and what is the thing you would change first in a rewrite
r3ylo. they so very very very badly dropped the ball with their relationship and their characters, specifically ben. oh my god. and listen listen listen, you had PERFECTLY GOOD LEGENDS CONTENT TO RECYCLE RIGHT THERE. i mean b3n solo is already a hodge podge of ben skywalker (luke's son) and jacen solo, so lets just fucking give him jacen's name and reskin rey as jaina solo, jacen's twin sister.
we give jaina rey's kindness, headstrong leadership, and reservation. we make her a little more jaded bc hello, her twin brother left their family and destroyed their uncle's temple to go become a sith lord. that would make anyone a little pessimistic.
we'd follow jaina, who works as part of the resistance under her mother, leia. standard child of divorce stuff: feels like she'll never live up to the expectations of her mother, longs for freedom outside of the diplomatic role she's been assigned, holds her mother to a higher standard than her dad (is it really an ella nancysglock idea if there aren't themes of strained daughterhood & motherhood?) jacen showed force sensitivity from a young age and got whisked off to train w uncle luke while jaina stayed with her mom and learned the politics. (imagine one of our opening scenes being jaina in full diplomatic getup on one of the republic planets, slipping out of a meeting and pulling off her robes, wiping off her makeup. she's just about to jump a balcony to sneak out when she hears a very familiar older female voice say, "you might as well walk out the front door if you're gonna be so obvious about sneaking out." leia. of course.) the first act of ep 7 finds jaina discovering her force-sensitivity. when she goes to find luke in ep 8 (a la rey), there's the added dynamic of "you never knew me as well as my brother" and luke seeing so much of his sister (and han to an extent) in jaina.
rey + ben's soul-bondy thing would be a twin sense thing for jacen and jaina (like what is vaguely established between luke and leia in the ot). luke + jacen would have even clearer narrative parallels (male twin luke brought to the light, male twin jacen brought to the dark). jacen would be a more sympathetic villain bc jaina's draw toward him and care for him are pre-established, as well as the reason their relationship is strained. we'd spend time throughout the trilogy unpacking their complicated dynamic via those soul bond vision communication things that started between r&b in tlj.
now im sure ur thinking, "but ella, one of the best themes of the sequels (which was terribly mishandled) was that you didn't have to be born into a special family to be a hero, that you can choose your family and make a difference no matter who you are!" to that i say: yes. 100%. which is why we're giving finn & poe actual storylines. the other big theme of the sequels is legacy, right. what does it mean to be a skywalker, a solo? thats why we see rey, a nobody, rise to heroism and take on the skywalker name while ben, who was born into the family, fall from grace and struggle with morality (in theory). i think we can do this better though. lets have jaina and jacen BOTH be born into the skywalker family (bc hey, it is the skywalker saga) and watch them struggle with light and dark. lets take that "dark rey" shit from tlj and push it further. lets see jacen seduced by the dark and pulled toward the light because he still cares about his sister. lets see jaina raised in the light and tempted by the freedom of the dark side.
lets also see jaina and finn choose each other as chosen siblings. lets see finn develop a real dynamic with jacen. (finn is a real protagonist in this as well, im just not talking about his role in the story as much in this post. but trust, he is a huge part of the story.) lets see more of leia & poe's mother/son dynamic. lets push those ben/poe parallels further.
tldr. replacing rey & ben with jaina & jacen solo so they're twins now. obviously no romance. finn & poe get bigger storylines and there are much deeper themes about family, chosen AND blood.

What my characters would wear for halloween and why?
To fit with the season, and for my own person entertainment, lets discuss what my characters Halloween costumes would be.
The isles series:
Catherine: I feel like Catherine would choose to dress up as a witch because it would be ironic but at the same time Sebastian or morri could easily convince her to be a killer bride.
Morri: David bowie, mainly because Morri's real life creator (not me) has claimed that every choice she makes in dnd is influenced by David bowie
Sebastian: a vampire, dunno why, just vibes.
Cole: literally whatever the others tell him to wear.
Charlie: Some musical character, definitely one with golden retriever energy.
Eliana: Morticia addams
The house of hidden miracles:
You see this is interesting because I already have a chapter set at Halloween and we know what they all dress as; Ivy, Amy, and Georgia dress as witches (not cannon but I'm picturing modern versions of the Sanderson sisters) and Noah, Will, Charlie, and Tom dress as vampires. However for the sake of this post I will pretend that they didn't do group costumes.
Ivy: Ivy would have a very classic costume, almost old hollywood-esque, maybe a ghost of singer. Or miss Argentina from beetlejuice
Amy: Katniss from the hunger games
Georgia: Georgia would either have a joint taylor swift costume with ella or be britney spears
Noah: I feel like Noah would still be a vampire, the group costume were definitely tom and will's idea but the vampire idea was his.
Will: Joint star wars costume with Tom
Charlie: He would not dress up, he barely wanted to in the first place but was forced into it by Will and tom (They wrestled him into a cape)
Tom: Joint star wars costume with Will (They argue about which one of them is anakin and which one of them is obi wan)
Happy spooky season y'all :)

Cinderella girlboss is bad and I think they should make her ND instead of "independent"
Maybe it's my own personal bias as an ND person but I liked Cinderella as a kid because I found her to be naive and kind and weird like me and every adaptation tries to destroy this and the movies get worse. Also Hollywood doesn't have a clue how to adapt queerness on screen. Anyway, here are a few reasons why Cinderella should be adapted to be on the spectrum:
- the step family is always portrayed to be assholes in the most cartoonish way, bullying an orphan girl because she is prettier than them. The abuse would make so much more sense if they had a shop and she would make clients run away by stimming or she would show signs of ADHD by not following orders or literal thinking/bluntness. Like she could say stuff like "I like your big nose" to her sister not realizing people don't like big noses on women and the sister could "attack back". It's a much more realistic instance of bullying and abuse and people might actually question their biases. It's also a huge source of fun that autistic people can enjoy too if done well (e.g. think Onion's autistic reporter Michael Fawn)
- she might be cleaning the house because she desperately needs order and the family didn't bother to tell her she doesn't need to do that. They could even kind of regret it but rationalize it with her "being useful in some way"; another hit to the audience that never thought much about the insanity of autistic inspiration stories
- her talking to animals could be adapted to be "hyper-empathy" as many autistic women are like this and have encyclopedic knowledge on animals; she can sing with perfect pitch to them because she can tell the animals enjoy her voice while others don't see it. This would "girlboss" her in a more fun way than making her a streamstress that's somehow judged for trade (highly historically inaccurate). You can have a musical that feels cohesive with reality and it's not just another musical.
- the relationship with the prince would make sense, as ND people form relationships very fast with one another as we communicate differently. Have them talk about hyperfixations instead of falling for looks. This gives us the ability to make the prince interesting in a myriad of ways, you can have him refusing to go to war because it would be a sensory overload and you can have him mask very well to then drop the mask in private. Maybe the prince made all the princesses run away and they make an insider ball because it's the only possible way for them to have their son married. It would be funny and not offensive to have him completely oblivious to all the flirty social cues.
- Ella could refuse to come to the ball because she doesn't like parties or it doesn't fit her routine. Secretly she wants to go but she doesn't want to embarrass her sisters. Because they don't expect her to go they don't notice her being there or assume it's someone else. Even if they notice her, they will pretend they don't know her as in this version the step family is not evil but rather "desperately wants to be normal".
- a nonbinary fairy god-parent could be attracted to help Ella because she understands how it is to be misunderstood, you can have them meet Ella before and have Ella not question the lack of gender. This sounds better than the good old "oh you are good, they are bad, this is why I give you a night out". The costume choice would also be fun cause Ella could complain about the materials and fit, much better than whatever "yass queen" scene they made
- Ella leaves the ball because she experiences sensory overload. Goes home to feel safe. The prince gives a ridiculously clear description of her looks and voice and this is why they find her. When they meet he can test her with unusual questions or echolalia and the step family is okay with not marrying the weird prince
- in the Disney look it seems like Cinderella has "noise cancelling headphones", of course this could be something she made to hear better and the ball dress could be adapted to fit them
Of course, I'm not petitioning for an autistic disney princess, as I'm working with already existent material that's used horribly every year anyway. I really think Cinderella fits the bill for ND representations more than other Disney princesses (maaaybe also Snow White). The 2010's girlboss craze could be turn into it's head (as people are sick of it) to show complex characters on the skeleton of old stories by looking into mental health, aesthetics, neurodivergence, life philosophy and use of humor that's more than "random". Right now they are losing money by the minute making vaguely poc stars sing about their strong persona and are throwing themes of vulnerability, abuse, social inequality and life purpose found in the original stories right in the bin. They are trying so hard to be feminist they become sexist. Maybe explore themes outside of feminism in women and you'll wake up with better feminist representation when you don't stare so much on the "woman" part of the character and you let the rest shine on it's own
