Haikyuu Headcannons: When they’re obsessed with your 🍑 (Oikawa Tooru, Ukai Keishin, Kozume Kenma)

Warnings: Swearing, not super explicit/nsfw, but suggestive content so I’ll put it below the cut just in case

A/N: What’s good everyone? Here’s something that I’ve stayed up way too late working on. It’s 5 in the morning and I’ve forgotten my own name. Let me know if y’all want a continuation with other characters. They all ended up being setters in this one so I just went with it I guess. All characters are aged up and 18+. I hope you enjoy! After a long day of working with crops, managing the store and volleyball practice, this man is tired and grumpy. Hinata somehow managed to almost meet his eternal rest when he was nearly hit by a TRUCK and a CAR and a BIKE and a STATIONARY POLE trying to outdo Kageyama while racing in the neighborhood. He swears those kids have taken at least ten years off his life span.

This man is v stressed

So when he comes home to find you reading in bed on your stomach in nothing but his t-shirt and those sexy panties that show off that beautiful bum… Honestly he could’ve cried he was so geeked.

He teared up a bit ngl (He’d never admit it tho)

This guy swan dived into bed, wrapping his arms around your waist, nuzzling his face into your glorious cakes

10 Anti LO Asks

1. i feel like stuff like LO and other HxP stories LOVE throwing around "feminist" a lot when it's like?? yeah no a hetero story about how persephone is no one without hades and how demeter is actually evil for defending her daughter and sometimes a weird hatred of apollo is not "feminist". you can rewrite hxp to not be violent but lets not claim its "feminist" when it resorts to demonizing demeter and others like minthe and aphrodite to prop up hades and making persephone be obsessed with him.

2. that other anon is right. Demeter SHOULD be the secondary protagonist since it's literally her myth, yet Rachel seems to she's so well researched ad respectful of the mythology when Demeter is not even a character with actual substance (it's called the hymn to DEMETER, like??). Also it's pretty obvious Hera is only as big of character in LO bc Rachel knows P needs a mother figure and can't let that be her actual mom, but also to push Hades is "desirable" on top of bashing Zeus. It's so stupid.

3. like season 1 wasnt exactly good, but at least in the pile of bad there were a few half way decent moments or panels to enjoy, but season 2 is just plain bad. the writing is bad and just seems like rachel venting and stealing fanfic ideas, the art is just a joke at this point, the pacing is awful w/ even fans being upset, the plot makes no sense, and no ending seems to be in sight. i can see it going for another season, and i cant imagine it'll get better if rachel refuses to take a real break.

4. I think big part of the issue with LO is it's so clear RS is NOT a writer. In S1 she had some decent ideas (S2 is just a mess), but in terms of writing realistic characters, keeping track of arcs, keeping a sense of pace, and plotting out the story among other things, is just not in her wheelhouse. We all know she doesn't do the art anymore, which is where her actual talent is in. TBH LO would be so much better if she was just the artist while a writer actually made sense of her ideas.

5. I’m pretty sure OG Apollo cursed Rachel as the God of Art for obvious reasons

6. (Spoilers for other WEBTOONs)

I’m not gonna lie, I do like some gushy stories like True Beaty or First Night with the duke and LO kinda has a similar formula where it’s just drama after drama but the difference is the protangists. Jeoyung(?) is a normal girl but she’s funny, she’s good at make up, afraid of her face, has interactions with plenty of the cast, has a goal that we see her working towards, we also see her struggle with career direction. Her plot is more than the romance even if sometimes it’s very dramatic but still enjoyable.

First night with the duke, Ripley is hilarious, good at making drinks, ends up running a business, standing up against people who hurt her (by herself in a clever cunning way) the built up between her and the male lead was exciting. She has friends she interacts with other characters.

LO fails at giving Persphone a life outside of hades. She has friends? The purple snake girl she met working at under wold Corp? We see them be nice once and now they’re besties, did that resvolr megs feelings who knows! Because it doesn’t matter since she’s besties with persphone. The more the story went on, the less it seemed like Artemis and P were friends and more of just roommates. Daphne is her friend but they don’t seem close, like kindgarden besties who lost touch but like each other’s photos. P really has her whole life around Hades, like even her act of wrath is still linked to hades (not on purpose but still deaths having to deal with an underworld scandal). Persphone’s goals? School? Which she hasn’t been to in over a year?! I get it at first she was on the run, but it went to just having a good time at Hades place. Literally her character is nothing without hades at this point. I feel like she hasn’t had a chapter in a long time where it was just her, and her own issues without hades in them.

7. I agree that Persephone is needlessly sexualized sometimes. But why hate on this one particular plant-watering scene? Sure, RS could've put her in different clothes, but what's so bad about lingerie and a robe? Like, I walk around watering plants in lingerie sometimes, it's not because whoever controls me in the Sims game that is my life is actively sexualizing me, it's because I like my lingerie. She's not posed weirdly, her expression isn't sultry. It's just clothes. It's not that serious.

8. //book spoilers I guess

First off, literally why does Rachel hate Minthe so much. It’s honestly concerning how much she just has to bully and tear her down even when she’s being a decent person. It’s really off putting.

Anyway, why does she seem to just randomly give people, in this case Hera, prophecy powers? Does she not realize there’s a reason why the gods, other than basic shared powers like immortality, strength, etc, have specific powers to them that others don’t? Prophecy especially is a very rare ability that only a rare few deities have because of how powerful it is, hence why the Fates or Apollo have so much power and others rely on them. Randomly giving this to Hera of all people just doesn’t sit right to me, especially since it’s solely for HxP’s use, not to show her own power. Like that other anon pointed out RS claims Hera is the “secondary protagonist”, yet her only purpose in the story is to show how “desirable” Hades is (this ruining any actual sympathy you could have of her), to be the compassion to P to be better than (which tbh is kinda misogynistic in a roundabout way, but w/e) and push HxP along, not her own story or character. RS can claim whatever she wants, but Hera is not there to be fleshed out or be her own character, she’s only there, like every other character in LO, to push a single relationship along, because RS can’t write them without the entire world stopping to focus on them. That’s not a sign of HxP’s importance, it’s a sign RS can’t depict them without tearing everything else down to prop them up among the rubble.

9. Since when are convicts staying in luxurious hotels? She should be in jail lol. And what genuine connection can a teenager (minor) have with a drunk guy older than her own mother? She may feel connection with Hermes, they actually met and talked often. Also using just friends card at this point is ridiculous LIE cause everyone know the true. And last thing - H speech about her good character was ridiculous after over100chapters of talking about her butt - you won't fix it with one chapter

10. H pressuring her to tell the true even when he saw her trying to avoid the topic and giving hints of trauma she was left with was utterly disgusting. No respect for her boundaries. Again it looked like father pressuring lil daughter to tell the true. Also she told him just because she was afraid she will push him away? That's horrible reason. She can't even feel she may trust him. And what love you know him for a month and still are just "friends".Should tell him when she's ready not out of fear

Hello, my name is Vall! I used to have another blog (that I will quickly delete as soon as I can) but I had a 2020 existential crisis so big I couldn’t even write or draw or even open tumblr for the life of me. Because of this I felt my blog was stale and that I had to renew it and change a few things so here we are, friends.

A few things about me I guess: I’m an archeologist doing my masters, I’m 22 and I’m tired perpetually. I have 4 cats and 1 dog and tbh I live for them. I’m also an artist (not going to say I’m a good one though I’m not that confident) and I dabble on graphic design.

MY WIPS

a curse most foul - dark fantasy in which everyone gets an existential crisis because so do i all the time. it follows five characters through several thousands of years and a lot of emotional dread.

ama and the painted world - aka the most whimsical, self indulgent fantasy with more mental health undertones that follows a girl who wants very badly to be a sucessful painter but her obsession gets her stuck in her own painted world and now she has to figure out how to leave before it swallows her up.

thank you for all the hobbit love!!!!!!!!! I was kind of nervous about posting that design because i didnt know whether tolkien fandom would be chill with ...well furries essentially. happy that you guys dont seem to mind at all ^^ here’s more that I could never figure out a post for LOL

thank you! and lol i was kind of joking about leaving the p5 fandom but uhhh I don’t think i’ll be drawing much more p5 because I think I got it out of my system. also tbh I don’t know if I actually like p5?? or if I just had a lot of shit I wanted to express and say about it via fanart. I had like this whole agenda where I wanted to make p5 art based on a more noir...almost graphic american comics style because I felt like that was the most interesting thing about the game’s art direction and not a lot of fanartists cashed in on it. Also I wanted to depict like a very specific shuake vibe that wasnt too romantic but also not ... completely un-romantic. something that really capitalized on the fact that they’re just terrible teens. idk. anyways I like the work I made for the fandom and I think I managed to say everything I wanted to say w it.

I AM signed up for a shuake zine though so expect an encore before I sign out completely LOL.

uhhhguhhg not particularly? The tamers kids just seem SO young.

I thought the scene where takato confesses to juri was incredibly lovely but it’s well done because it’s not particularly romantic or ship-indulgent its like... all about the way kids attach to each other when they feel out of place or scared. and how simply someone can become special to you at that age.

if i mentally age them up a little I could see kazu and kenta being a fun ship. they had that one episode where they were like. kind of a parallel for those married digimon?? which is deeply amusing.

also I think ruki is a baby lesbian. just the way she dismisses every boy but is obsessed with even the most random girl they encounter...! but i think her rivalry with ryo is so so funny because its like a like... little league tcg rivalry. I want to believe that when theyre in middle school ruki and ryo date for like 2 weeks and the plain existence of that relationship wreaks havoc on kazu and kenta who are in weird idol love with ryo and hate ruki but also are friends with ruki. and then they break up because they realize theyre both gay or whatever but kazu and kenta take approx a month to recover from the psychological& emotional damage.

I like ruki/juri too but i have no solid concept of how that would work out...

I actually totally meant to draw all this in like a convoluted fanart post at one point but I never got around to it so thanks for asking about tamers shipping LOL

How it ends up looking painterly.... idk. Because I’m a messy painter and I use big strokes? I don’t really blend but I do use mid-opacity textured brushes when I paint a lot so thats probably part of what makes it look soft/painterly/integrated. I use the lasso for hard edges and then brushes to create soft shapes within them... if that makes sense? SORRY THIS IS HARD TO EXPLAIN, anyways, I have a handful of videos of me drawing on youtube. Theyre really boring because they dont have music and I didn’t bother to edit them in interesting ways but.. theyre there. Maybe itll help?

So like all of the x-books, the occasional teen hero and the occasional indie. I was thinking of dropping Wolverine and Cable but idk... Cable sort of won me over during x of swords and if wolverine brings adam kubert back I think I’ll start digging it again LOL. I jumped onto Guardians on a whim but its suddenly become one of my favorite books along with S.W.O.R.D... so I guess I have to go back and read Immortal Hulk at some point, become a true Al Ewing stan.

Far Sector is my only DC pull atm but also I loved a lot of the GN releases this past year and Wonder Woman Dead Earth is like my favorite 2020 comic actually. So dc imprints are KICKING ALL KINDS OF ASS. main dc tho.... idk. I’m kind of eyeing the new robin book but I think thats where my interest ends.

Personally would have liked it if all of this was spread out throughout the last few episodes; like different hijinks for every episode. I'm just a big fan of properly setting up the overall arc over the season instead of patching it together closer to the climax/end of the show. Cos now it lowkey feels like two different seasons - 2A felt like The Rini/Rina Show esp with YAC storyline and whatever was going on with Rina and now 2B is finally feeling like what this season should have been all this time

So idk I am feeling conflicted bc you know how there’s a sect of the lgbt community who are all like “go listen to real queer artists and stop trying to make Taylor seem one of us through your lyric analysis” like.

I mean I get what they’re saying and it’s not even like Taylor presents as a great ally lmao but like... I feel like that argument just forgets that 1) closeted people exist and 2) straight people can write songs that can be analyzed through a queer lens

Like I mean there is a severe lack of out mainstream artists and I get we should absolutely support the ones that are Bc it makes it easier for closeted people to come out the more mainstream it is... but like... idk. I do think some people take Taylor’s sexuality too far and to consider her a gay icon is just like not it right now... but like her music slaps and you don’t have to be straight to relate to it. There are so many of her songs that I listen to and think of my ex gf when I do so it’s like? Maybe Taylor didn’t write DBATC for a woman but I ascribe it to one when I listen to it and like that’s the point of music you know?

Idk I get why some lgbt people are annoyed by her but like... I just feel like no one considers that being closeted is a thing and I think some lgbt people fall into the same default that straight people do and just assume everyone is straight unless they have a huge coming out announcement. And like that’s not fair to anyone tbh.

Yeah look I mean I have MANY thoughts on this:

1) shit doesn't need to be canonically gay in order for it to be relatable. Same as how straight people can and SHOULD relate to queer storylines too because WE ARE ALL HUMAN. No one is ever going to write a banger of a breakup song like Adele. Do I think she has a fruity bone in her body? I mean like maybe she's kissed a girl at a party one time but like all her songs are for her about boys. But they're not necessarily about boys for me. And that doesn't make them worse or less relatable. I'm allowed to ugly cry and listen to Turning Tables and I don't have to picture a bloke when I do that.

2) that's true for minority/majority art in general. Minority groups generally find ways to identify to majority groups, but I LOVE it when majority groups identify to my minority identities. Like yaaaaas goy straight bitches please go stan Broad City. The girls are SO Jewish and... so bi... but like I WANT YOU TO LIKE IT and relate. And most people I've spoken to feel that way regardless of identity. Like, obvi the point is not to appropriate but like yes I'm going to bop and sing to Formation and I'll not say the hair line when I'm singing it in my car - y'all should lowkey know by now Lemonade is like one of my favorite albums because I reference it that much - there are lines I skip but the PREMISE of like being with your group of girls is completely relatable to me. Do I get the nuance she's communicating? Cerebrally but obvi not like to my core, but it's a dope song, and I can have fun singing it.

3) those are two important sidebars and bring us back to Taylor. IMO it's okay to like Taylor's music in a gay way in the same way we queer people like Adele's or even in the way goy straight girls like Broad City. Like it's okay if she didn't mean it that way and she didn't mean to speak to us but did via the human experience and that's like beautiful y'know and makes her a phenomenal artist.

4) it's also important to realize that yes Taylor could be closeted but besties she's not like... revolving her life around it. She has made a choice to live a hetty presenting life and - here's where we get to the kicker - she has fostered the bullying of queer fans who pick up on themes in her music and ship while having no issue with hetty weirdos. And that makes me HOPE she's queer in some way and not homophobic because if you are an ally and you're letting people speculate about EVERY boy you're in contact with but lose your shit when it looks like you kissed your female friend, ehhh that's on you. You're a bad ally and a bit homophobic.

5) which brings me to "why I hope she's queer": fundamentally because it'd make her less stupid and more likable, and it'd make her faux pas missteps more understandable because it was like ~personal and she struggled, and it'd make the signaling she's done (and don't start this I never include ship shit I always talk about sus statements and flag usage etc and it's in my nat talks gaylor tag) more understandable.

6) if she's straight eh people have just as much right to queer read her songs as we do with Adele and Lana. It doesn't matter.

Maybe Taylor Swift is straight. If so she has a LONG way to go in terms of allyship, and a long way to go compared to just about every pop star who has come before her. Like she's a problem dudes. She's a homophobe because she's allowed a fandom which allows folklore songs to be assigned to HARRY but freaks at Wonderland being assigned to Dianna Agron.

Maybe she's bi, and I wish society would allow for that but I don't think it does especially not in her case.

Either way I wish hetlors would get off truthering because it doesn't matter.

So someone thinks she's gay. Cool. Make like Elsa and let it go, why can't that be the case? Again, I am CONVINCED Blake, Scarlett, Emma W, and a host of other celebs are straight. I won't truther someone who's saying Emma and Bonnie shared rooms together because I'd be like "lol Bonnie has the range but Emma doesn't but fair enough" and leave it at that.

“so like we were just hitting a blunt this weekend in mark’s car and this cop pulls up next to us.mark rolls down the window and all of the smoke just hits the cops in the face”

“listen bitch, i’m not done”

“so the cop is doing the regular illegal drugs bullshit and asked mark a question. understand at this point that mark is high as fuck so i kid you not the crackhead says quack. nothing else just quack. honestly, i still don’t know how we got out of that but we did and lee haechan is still in school.”

but it so ridiculous and so haechan that you can’t say anything else

and you don’t have too! bc someone taps ur shoulder pulling you out of your convo and boom it’s ella

you pushed passed jaemin and stormed towards haechan pulling him to some vacant hallway to lecture him

leaving jaemin standing there staring at your backs as the two of you left

jaemin’s smile dropping significantly as he nearly glared over at the two of you leaving, specifically at the back of haechan’s head

“dude, why do you look like you’re going to murder someone?” jeno asked as jaemin sat next to him at their lab station

you weren’t in this chemistry class but haechan was,,,and it was his naptime

“how is y/n friends with him?” jaemin stared directly at a sleeping haechan

jeno follows his line of sight, letting out a sigh once he notices it was haehcan

“she never really told me, but i assume it was because she stopped being friends with ella and that group” jeno said honestly. he raised an eyebrow in question at his bffl “why do you need to know”

jaemin didn’t answer him, continuing to glaring at the sleeping male

jeno rolled his eyes at his friend's antics

but in a serious tone, he warns to his friend, “don’t pull your games with y/n.”

except jaemin’s head wasn’t registering this warning,,he was solely focused on how lee fucking haechan the biggest stoner of NCT High managed to take a girl’s attention from him, na jaemin....it was simply ridiculous

maybe he really was an attention seeker bc he made a beeline for your table during lunch instead of his regular one once he saw just how loud you were laughing at haechan’s joke

“what’s so funny?” jaemin asked sliding into the seat next to you

now both of you and our boy hyuk is like wtf

immediately you’re on defense, “what are you doing here?”

“you never gave me a good explanation!” jaemin pouted, giving you fat puppy eyes

“uhhhhhh” you try to find a good excuse but jaemin quickly cuts you off

“it’s okay if you don’t have a good explanation,” jaemin reaches over and steals a fry from haechan’s tray eliciting a hissing sound from the boy “you just have to go on a date with me”

the amount of time that y/n has said wtf is unbelievable

haechan’s sunglasses slip down the bridge of nose and you could see his red eyes giving you a look of disappointment, “and you say i have issues”

the rest of the day wasn’t any easier on you tbh. you learned that jaemin was really really stubborn and very very clingy

the boy deadass scanned the whole hallway to find your face so he could tag along with you to your next class even though you could have sworn that his class was one the other side of the school

he kept on bombarding you with questions on what you wanted to get after school and if you like roller skating

by some means, you were able to hide in the library for the rest of the study hall period which meant that you could probably avoid jaemin until school ended

you spotted a familiar boy huddled in the corner reading a book that made you squint your eyes.

marching over to jeno, your eyes just say “explain”

jeno looked at you with like those wide eyes he does when he’s shookth bc the two of you never interacting in school so puBlicly

“what the hell is na jaemin trying to pull?” you whispered-yelled plopping down in the wooden seat next to the athlete

and you explain your whole situation to him and he just lets out the biggest sigh

“he doesn’t like being left on read”

“what do you mean?”

“i mean, that’s what you basically did to him sophomore year. he was kinda depresso about how you just stopped talking to him out of nowhere. by the way, why did you do that?”

tbh you really didn’t know at first you were mad at him

was it bc his actions caused all your friends to blame you for his inability to commit to a relationship,,, but it’s been two years since that incident

you got over it, so why were you still avoiding jaemin?

“i dunno after him and ella broke up, i didn’t have a reason to talk to him.”

jeno looked at you like “really? is that your answer?”

“think about that question again because i’m sure that that's, not the whole answer.”

now you’re more confused but also very mad about how both of them weren’t accepting your reason as valid!

so as you were furiously making the stupid centerpieces that ella forced you into volunteering to do

angry y/n really got through a solid 50 of them

you pondered on jeno’s words and you thought back to sophomore year

you remembered still joking around lightheartedly w jaemin until he started dating ella

he actually spent a lot of time and effort even ditching jeno sometimes for her which was okay cause jeno would chill w renjun or even you (mostly bc he could watch barbie movies w no shame)

everything was alright until homecoming came around and jaemin flaked on ella leading them to breakup the next day

and ella to stop talking to you which made everyone mad you or think that you were the one that caused the breakup

WHICH YOU DIDN”T

you were the one that hooked the two of them up too! so it was really unfair!

it's like 2 am and you don’t know what came over to text jeno but you did

y/n: why didn’t jaemin go to hoco sophomore year?

you felt instant regret after sending that text bc like it probably made it seem like you were interested in jaemin,,,, which you were totally not!

so that’s how you spent the entire night finishing all of your centerpieces that you were assigned to make cuz of your frustration

since it was just the two of you in the classroom and you’ve been dying to know the answer since sophomore year

you were about to reject him but then an idea formed in your head

and with that one-word jaemin’s eyes glowed 10x brighter with his smile almost blinding you

“ella told me that you finished your half of the centerpieces in two days. that’s pretty impressive,” he comments

you nodded staring at the ice cream drowned in chocolate syrup

“to be honest, i haven’t gotten much done yet,” he admitted, continuing to ramble on “it’ll get done. i might even pay renjun to do it, but i’m pretty sure he’s too preoccupied with this girl that he’s been pining over for a while”

“speaking of which, are you seeing anyone right now?” jaemin asks out of nowhere.

“lol i could be doing other things with my time.”

jaemin observes your face closely taking in the faint blush on your cheeks from his direct gaze, “so what about that haechan dude?”

“what about him?”

“are the two of you a thing?”

you nearly gagged

“there no way in hell i’d ever get with haechan. besides, he’s having some of his own girl problems right now. he was being a little bitch about it too”

“good” jaemin says really contently.

“why didn’t you go to hoco sophomore year?” you finally asked

taken back slightly, jaemin softly smiles down at the half-eaten sundae

instead of answering you, he asked another question “why did you stop talking to me?”

you gulp, but eventually, you had to tell him the truth even though it was kinda dumb and immature

“because ella was mad at me after the two of you broke up.”

he shifted his gaze up to your own eyes

“do you know why she was mad at you?”

you shook your head

T R A G I C B A C K S T O R Y

𝟏. 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐁𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐃, Loraine doesn’t remember much of her early life. At this point, most of her memories are bare flashes through her mind. It was all good - that she’s certain of - up until her mom died in an accident. Her father wasn’t the same ever since, his eyes were vacant and he barely spoke. He left one day and Lori never saw him, after that. She moved to stay with her aunt and although she took care of Loraine it was pretty clear that it was something she did out of pure obligation.

𝟐. 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 been really easy to provoke but instead of growing out of it, she actually embraced it. If the word and the people who inhabited it were pure shit, why should she try to be anything different? She was mean and she started fights over the smallest of things, though she was terrible at finishing them. No matter, she got up and dusted herself off.

𝟑. 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐔𝐍𝐓 was no exception and the two of them fought pretty often. At the end of the day, Loraine rely on herself and herself only and she simply couldn’t wait until she moved out. She did, eventually, and she quite enjoyed living on her own. But you know, her temper had still not calmed down and eventually, when she was twenty-four, she messed with the wrong kinds of people. Though, they weren’t even people, were they? The vampires drank most of her blood and left her to die like that. That’s when another vampire (see wanted connections) noticed her and took pity on the dying girl, making sure she had some of their blood so she wouldn’t actually die.

𝟒. 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐎𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘 even more messed up than before. The faces of the vampires that did that to her were ingrained in her mind and the desire for revenge was what fueled her for a long time. Loraine was obsessed with finding them, desperately clinging to any and all clue of their whereabouts. It took many years but she did manage to track them down and kill them.

𝟓. 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐀𝐘 she had no idea what to do with herself after that. Her goal was finished. She traveled throghouht Europe for a few years before settling in Greece for a bit over the past decade. She’s worked night shifts as a bartender and treated it all as a creative break. The mundanity of it all was starting to grow too boring and calm for Loraine so the news of the mixed school piqued her interest and now here she is, looking to spice up her days.

𝐓𝐋𝐃𝐑 ; Loraine is a shit-stirrer with a short-fuse, despite the fact that she couldn’t fight for shit. It eventually got her killed and she spent a good bunch of her life chasing after the people who left her to die to get her revenge. She’s been pretty lost and confused afterwards and is subconsciouslly looking for a new purpose in life.

S O M E T H I N G E X T R A

𝐈. To elaborate on her self-destructive tendencies, Lori runs on self-hate a lot of the time. She likes to push herself to her limits by doing dumb shit i.e. trying to see how much time she can really go without blood.

𝐈𝐈. Loraine can be pretty flirty but she avoids actual relationships like the plague. It’s not hard for her to get attached to people but as soon as someone says they like (or God forbid love) her, she shuts down and pushes them away.

𝐈𝐈𝐈. Despite that she can be pretty caring when she genuinely likes someone. She’d do the occasional check up and remind them to take care of themselves in her own special (read: lowkey agressive) way.

𝐈𝐕. Her favorite color is plum and she hates red ever since she was turned. Surprisingly she really likes cutesy, animated movies and The fox and the hound is her all time favorie. ALSO!! She really loves jazz and she is a huge Frank Sinatra fan.

𝐕. Grumpy cat embodied and she doesn’t quite understand memes. If you tell her a pun she will punch you in the face.

ok so, i don't like devin grayson. i don't like her writing at all, i don't think she gets the characters at all, and hot take: if you dislike a character who's super important part of dick's life, and helped him come into his own and be who he is, you shouldn't be writing that character. (i'm talking about kory here, but tbh if you dislike any of the characters who dick interacts with frequently and are a huge part of his life - especially his love interests, and his family - you shouldn't be writing dick.) so i'm not going into this story with high hopes. however i've seen ppl talk about this story as being really good so i hope i'll like it too

you can tell she mostly cares about the fab five, which wouldn't be a problem if she treated the ntt characters better but alas ://

this is def some of grayson's better work, but it suffers from the same thing all of her stories do. she doesn't fully understand all the characters. if one character is off it affects the whole story. a lot of her stories have good ideas and poor execution, and this one definitely doesn't have awful execution but there's still something missing and as someone who loves the titans it's just sad. i get why people like this story - it made me tear up at the end ngl - but the rest of the titans are just as important as dick and it feels like the writer doesn't understand that. (i get this is a dick comic but it's still a titans story.) (it does however make me want to write a fic expanding upon this moment and the aftermath bc the idea of the titans all coming together to cheer dick up is so goooooood. are they gonna have a party celebrating dick's parent's lives? are they gonna eat junk food and watch a comfort movie? are they gonna just sit and talk?? the possibilities are endless!!)

the art is gorgeous as all of jimenez' art is, i love his style so freaking much!!

the next page is of the bludhaven supporting cast and all it does is remind me how much i do not care abt them. i think the only one i actually like is clancy, the others are expendable and forgettable. (i do love clancy a lot though, i wish she'd been written by more people than just dixon). though, i usually love guice's art, i think i actually prefer mcdaniel's take on clancy??? which is 100% a first for me.

also lmao the difference between the way dick's canon relationship from that time is described in the shittiest way possible (though reluctant at first, dick begins a long and tumultuous romance with teammate starfire.) and how he wrote dick and babs' relationship (robin first teams with ... barbara in her guise as batgirl. the two will pair time and again over the course of their careers and develop a burgeoning affection for one another) this was at a time when they weren't even remotely interested in each other!!! there was no affections there dixon! no matter how much you wish it to be true!! and again the contrast with 'starfire' and 'barbara'! like it's dehumanising and i hate it.

honestly i am........ too lazy to make this a nice bio so plz forgive me for settling on bullet points ,, but at least that’s less reading for you !!!!

mckenna’s father is from wales and works as a plastic surgeon for the rich and fabulous and her mother is from new york and works a beautician and stylist for celebrities . together they had 5 children in total , the kid in the very middle being kenna . the family spent most of her childhood living in wales before moving to new york just before mckenna started high school

all of her siblings are really talented . it must be in their genes or something to have an affinity for the arts . her older brother is in a popular band . her older sister is a principal dancer . her younger sister is an incredible painter . and her younger brother is like six so he’s still coming into his own but there’s no doubt that he’ll be a prodigy at something

and what about mckenna ??? well she tried following in her brother’s footsteps by learning a bunch of instruments but none of them clicked . after that she tried to take dance classes with her sister but it was clear to see that she had two-left feet . she could barely draw a perfect circle , so painting like her younger sister was out of the question too . eventually she tried to pursue an acting career , auditioning for tv shows and movies but never booking anything more than a handful of commercials

so she spent a majority of her life feeling pretty inadequate compared to her siblings . she just wanted to be good at something , anything really . and she wanted to be praised for it . luckily , she eventually found her thing . though it was sorta unconventional : kenna figured out that she’s good at makeup . it’s basically an art form in itself and since she had the time on her hands to practice , she got pretty good at it

she started posting her looks on social media , gaining a little bit of attention on her instagram and later even starting a youtube channel ( at the time it was called pinkglitter2234 bc she was like 13 and cringey ). doing makeup and making youtube videos was her new favorite pass time and pretty much all she did throughout high school . kids in her school started recognizing her as “the the girl who talks funny and makes youtube videos” ,, so that’s pretty cool ig

it really wasn’t until her senior year that her channel gained a serious following . by the time she graduated she worked her way up to 1m subscribers and just a few hundred thousand away from having 1m on instagram too . CRAZY . and since youtube had become a serious job to her that she wanted to continue doing , she figured that she’d take a gap year off just to focus on that and building her personal brand . so she moved out and got an apartment in the city , paid for all by herself ( though mommy and daddy’s money certainly helped furnish it with all her lavish stuff ) and got to WORK

that ONE gap year turned into a gap... three years ??? she never applied to university and honestly she doesn’t plan to anytime soon ! her social media career has never been more poppin’ tbh . she has like over 8m subscribers on her main channel ( now called makeupmckenna ) and just a little bit under that on her vlog channel . she’s had various partnerships with different makeup brands , colourpopcosmetics , morphe , and lancôme just to name a few . on her channel she also does fashion / styling videos , which has gained her attention from several brands that have sent her pieces to promote and invited her to see their shows at fashion week and whatnot . big money moves basically !!

okay now for her secret : basically ,, kenna is hard-working don’t get me wrong , but she’s also obsessed with increasing her following and is willing to do anything if it means signal boosting herself and becoming more successful . so basically , at one point she made a fake account that posed as one of her “haters” “exposing” her-- and since no publicity is bad publicity , it got more people talking about her and following her . she even made a sob story youtube video in response to the “hate” she was getting and the rumours that were sparking because of it . the account has since been deleted but that doesn’t mean that the screenshots of the rumours aren’t still circulating the internet . it’s been a few years since the “scandal” but that doesn’t mean that it still doesn’t get talked about from time to time

personality-wise : kenna is a sweetheart ! at least on the outside ! like she lowkey has selfish motives sometimes when it comes to gaining online popularity , but outside of social media she is genuine and goofy and a good friend i swear . would give you the designer clothes off her back if you’re close to her . also affectionate because she’s from a big family that actually has a healthy relationship with each other ( minus kenna’s minor jealousy she used to harbor as a kid... she’s kinda grown out of it now as a young-adult who’s successful in her own right ) so she loves to love . super materialistic though . loves shiny things and owning the newest trendy stuff . definitely thinks that money can buy happiness and she’s super stubborn so you cannot convince her otherwise . loves attention , will do just about anything to get it but if it doesn’t fit her “pristine girl next door” image then she’ll have to do it in secret . and since she has made a name for herself as being “innocent” , she doesn’t party too much . just not a big fan of that lifestyle

just bc she never went to college DOES NOT MEAN that my girl is dumb .. she actually likes to keep learning new things by constantly reading and trying out new skills . she’s v much a jack of all trades but a master at none . minus her ability to beat her face and talk to a camera lol
