Solo Batstans who insist on rewriting the Batfam to make them into what other characters are in canon instead of stanning the latter confuse the shit out of me because i legit do not get why don't they just do both.Like i love the Batfam too,they're tied with the Superfam as my favorite DC faction but they're not the only one that exists and it's inconsiderate to fans of less popular characters to steal their stories and personalities when you could literally just read for and post about them and just write your own spin on the concepts of the Batfam without copying them???Jason in my verses for him is more of a legit vigilante because i feel canon wastes his potential but i also read Helena's stuff when i found out she's like that canonically and i post her a lot and reblog and make posts saying it's bad to steal her elements to give them to Jason.I see Stephanie as black and darkskinned and impliment that into my potrayals of her but i stan Kory as much as i do her and i also hype up Natasha and other lesser known canon DC bw.Sometimes i hc Dick as a victim of Slade's ped0 shit so i can get better at writing recovery stories for that topic but i'm way more focused on that with Mia because her origin story is being a victim of child traficition(?).I could add more but you guys get my point and before the people i'm talking about jump onto this to say i'm 'policing' them or whatever,consider that i am literally just saying you are fully capable of reading actual comics if you're gonna get so invested in the characters from them without actually knowing them and then thinking you have a right to speak over us

And That One is You: a Bird of Prey spinoff

Howdy! Another little drabble based on @roxie-roo 's Double Life au, Bird of Prey! Pure fluff this time I promise :D

"Come on.. We don't have too much longer left... the evening is young. Let's make the most of it."

"I've got just the idea."

Tango searches their chests. He pulls out pouches of loose redstone, shards of quartz and iron shavings. Jimmy watches, curious, as Tango tinkers over their crafting table. They don't have a lot of materials to work with, so Jimmy is surprised seeing what Tango is managing to do.

Wires are crafted with redstone and iron shavings. Quartz is used to conduct signals to their designated place and it's all encased in a wood box.

A radio. Tango's crafted a radio.

"Let's see if we can get a signal." Tango grins, placing it on top of a chest and immediately messing with the dials.

"And if we don't?" Jimmy asks.

Tango shrugs back. "Then we'll go loot chests for a jukebox and some discs."

Jimmy loves how optimistic he is. Even with so little time left, the hybrid is so positive and doing everything to make sure their last moments are ones they'll remember forever.

Then, the radio crackles to life. It's super static-y, and the speakers are weak. Jimmy thinks that if they turn it up any more than it's already at the thing would combust, but somehow it fits. It's absolutely perfect for the both of them, and just them. In their little ranch.

"There we go, now we just gotta..." Tango twists and bends the antenna, searching for something.

Jimmy waits. And waits. And-

The song is so muffled. It barely pierces the static, but there's a song.

Tango turns the dial for the volume, testing how high it'll go before it implodes... or something.

And with your admission, that you feel the same, I'll have reached the goal I'm dreaming of

Tango stretches out a hand, silently asking Jimmy to take it. To dance with him.

And Jimmy does.

Tango pulls his soulmate close. He hums lowly with the song as the two sway and spin in a small, slow circle. One hand rests comfortably on the small of Jimmy's back, the other laced with his partner's. Jimmy's other arm was looped around Tango's neck and rested comfortably on his shoulders.

Tango licks his lips nervously. "I don't want to set the world on fire, honey," He recites quietly with the song. Jimmy gazes into his eyes fondly, hanging on his every word.

"I love you too much. I just want to start a great big flame down in your heart." Tango smiles. Jimmy giggles, stopping their dance and pulling Tango in to kiss him.

Tango kisses back eagerly, and takes Jimmy by surprise by dipping him as they lose themselves in the kiss. The blond chirps in surprise, but makes no move to stop the blaze hybrid dipping him.

"I like this." Jimmy whispers. He doesn't need to, but it just feels right. "I wish it could always be like this."

Tango rests his forehead against Jimmy's and sighs. "Me too, songbird." His thumb rubs shapes into Jimmy's side where his hand supports the avian. He feels endgame sadness creeping up his throat, and he quickly swallows it in fear of spilling it where he doesn't want to. Now is not the time to mourn, but celebrate.

They'll meet again. Some day, somewhere.

"Come on, another song." He lifts Jimmy up and flicks the antenna around until it picks up something more upbeat. Jimmy's wings fluff up happily.

"Another dance?"

waffle!!!!! ily thank you for asking, i am happy to gush about these two<3 <3 <3

so, love poetry was honestly just scenes of jason reciting poetry to dick and then four scenes later i realized i had a plot idea and the rest is history lol

the basic premise is that dick *thinks* he's hallucinating jason (specifically and often as robin) and is just not mentally well about anything. except! it is actually the ghost of jason! and ghost jason is looking out for dick, or trying to anyways.

“You can feel guilty over that, sure, be an idiot,” Jason huffs and [Dick] can feel the familiar exasperation rolling off of him. “Or, you can do something about it.”  His words make him pause--they always do, make him pause, make him choke the rage and grief out--but he tilts his head and just breathes. He thinks. He’s clever, his little wing is always so clever.  Or maybe, he just knows him too well. “Thanks, Jay,” He murmurs, and lets his fingers curl around him.    “A man takes his sadness and / throws it away / but then he’s still left with his hands.” Jason finishes, a wispy whisper against his skin, hands pushing him towards the ledge.  When he leaps, cold determination and the ever present rage in his gut, Jason laughs.  It carries him forward. It makes him fly.  [boot theory, richard siken]

so for a while, ghost jason is reciting poetry/literature to dick and trying to keep him alive but then, jason's body wakes up, crawls out of his grave and is found by talia. ghost jason realizes shit is about to go down and not in a good way and gives a very vague, somewhat cryptic warning to dick before disappearing (aka talia dips jason in the pit and restores his ghost/soul).

and then a few years later, red hood shows up in gotham.

that's all i have so far, but i think it will have a hopeful ending. it's gonna be messy and dark first. i've been having fun plugging in some of my favorite quotes tho<3

and then girl gang girl gang GIRL GANG!!!

okay so this one, i'm honestly excited to write !!!!! but i have so little so far lmao. anyways. it's an exploration of the fact that jason is often impacted and influenced by women. Aka Jason has a (bad) good habit of being a feminist girlboss-malewife and his team-ups always end up as all girls plus him.

it starts during his training with the league, having a team up with lady shiva and cheshire, plus his whole thing with talia. i've also been thinking of combining this with another idea i've had about, instead of jason meeting and being close with damian during his league days, he was actually closer with mara al ghul (damian's cousin), so there's that.

then jason's besties with essence and ducra at the all-caste and also befriends rose wilson during his league days. then after the whole red hood debacle, he's close with faye gunn, and when he starts to dabble in team ideas (the budding outlaws!) he meets and befriends duela dent, artemis, and later isabel ardila; has a weird reunion with barbara, which then leads to him meeting stephanie (who decides jason is her new best friend). he also causes some chaos with selina and her team while in gotham.

i've also been thinking of adding a super, just not sure if i want it to be kara or not; also bette kane is a big contender (just not sure how to introduce her yet); and then i've been thinking about adding blackfire (komand'r) because she's so fascinating to me and i think she might match the whole outlaws thing a bit better than kori.

there will be cameos from kate kane, huntress, barbara + cass, onyx, donna troy, and harley, but i really want to focus on jason, cheshire, rose, duela, artemis, and steph (and hopefully bette, komand'r, and mara).
