When you first met him, you were terrified. Who wouldn’t be? Everything you’d ever heard about his kind sent chills down your spine and made you want to curl up and hide and never leave. You didn’t even know what he really was then. He was just there, tall and intimidating as hell. You really shouldn’t have come to this party. You should be back at your place, studying for your next exam. A boring life was a safe, vampire-free life, yeah?

But after you met Yang Jungwon and learned his secret truth, your perspective on things changed quite drastically. It happened quite fast, actually, this change of heart. Vampires weren’t 100% scary anymore—though, don’t get it confused, Jungwon, as fair as he may be, could turn scary in an instant. They were merely beings who had memories of great history, and an incredible knack for storytelling.

On nights you couldn’t sleep—because of life, or a test, or that stupid boy who cheated on you—you’d call him and ask for a story. And every time, without question, he’d oblige, honeyed voice coming through the receiver. The stories Jungwon told were so fantastical, so imaginative, it was hard for you to believe they could have ever been true. But, then again, you were hearing them from a real life vampire, so who’s to say what’s real and what’s not?

Eventually, though, your restless nights start to concern him. You try brushing it off, say it was just a phase because that’s just how life is, or an important incoming exam, or because your stupid ex who cheated on you really, really hurt you. You stop calling, too, spending long moonless nights alone and in silence with nothing but the darkness to keep you company. You could try to remember the stories he told you, but your memory always dulls in comparison.

But if there’s anything you’ve learned after meeting Yang Jungwon, out of everything he’s told you or shown you, it’s that he’s good at reading people.

And he’s especially good at reading you.

Another restless night, paging through a chem textbook you’re too exhausted to even try to understand. The only light coming from your desk lamp, and whatever moonlight could filter down through the fire escape. Not that it was much escape, though, with the last bit of ladder broken and still not replaced. Maybe you should have splurged a little more for an off-campus apartment, or gone halfsies with someone else.

But you do enjoy your apartment, as small and as dingy as it is. It’s yours, even if you still feel like you have to clean extra hard because of him.

When you hear a tap on your window and see him floating outside, a happy smile on his face with a teasing expression to his eyes, you really aren’t as surprised as you expect yourself to be. As you should have been. You let him in, pushing the window up before Jungwon slips in like a lithe Peter Pan. He’s feet gently land on your floor, and while he’s still tall, there’s nothing intimidating about Jungwon now. You dare say he’s the exact opposite for you.

He surveys your room with a blank expression before another smile overtakes his features.

“No wonder you can’t sleep,” he says, a small tsk-tsk in his voice. “The front of the building from when I dropped you off is much nicer. Your room is boring—no stories at all.”

“That’s not true!” you reply, pointing to your shelf full of knickknacks and memories and photographs you’d taken over the years. Some places decidedly empty, a symbolic representation of your heart, but nonetheless–stuff!

“Not those stories, silly,” Jungwon chides. He reaches to take your hand, and it sends a chill straight to your heart, the spark it causes and the warmth you feel. Another thing you learned from knowing him–those stories about vampires being cold? Just a silly myth. Jungwon squeezes your hand again. “I mean stories like these.”

With a wave of his hand, a glittering scene appears in the empty space in front of you. An ocean slowly eats away at the shiny shore, everything bathed in the warm, vibrant colors of sunset. You can even hear the waves and smell the salty sea air, seagulls cawing in the distance. The golden glow of the image warms even the darkest corners of your room. You reach for the image, but your hand falls through.

“How did you—?” You look up at him, mouth slightly agape.

Jungwon laughs, a small one that lifts your heart, and uses his free hand to tap at his temple. “Magic,” he chimes with a wink, and now you’re both laughing.

By three in the morning, long after he’d shown up, you’re side by side on your bed, staring at the ceiling as Jungwon plants image after image. Each with their own story he whispers just for you. He even teaches you how to bring them back on your own, with your own brand of mundane magic.

“For whenever you need them,” he whispers, holding your hand close to his heart. “For whenever I can’t be near.”

You blink, and your throat catches at the idea of Jungwon not being here. You scan his face, the features you’ve made yourself very familiar with. You may not be able to recall Jungwon’s stories in color, but you’ve always been able to recall him in sparkling detail. You start to wonder about things, creating a timeline in your head as you gaze back up at the ceiling. Jungwon had told a story of star crossed lovers who actually ended up together. The glittery image of them sitting side by side, staring out into the ocean, curled into one another stares back at you.

You think about the night you met Jungwon, the night you’d your ex–then your boyfriend–making out and cheating on you with someone else in the corner of the kitchen. You’d gone in for more ice, and ended up shattering your reality as you knew. Then, you met a vampire, so maybe that night was destined to be odd.

You think about what’s happened since, the tentative friendship you find blossoming between you two. Jungwon attends your university–which you find stupid because why would you voluntarily submit yourself to such torture as organic chemistry–but Jungwon tells you it’s to see people, see how they’ve changed and how they’ve stayed the same since he’d turned.

“Besides,” Jungwon had said, tapping his pen against his temple when you’d gone to study together after class, “I already know just about everything. Makes test taking really easy.”

You think about how much you truly enjoy being in Jungwon’s company. How he sets you at ease, makes you laugh. The stories he tells, how he seems to have them only for you. You think about right now, his shoulder and knees pressed against your own. How he holds your hand against his heart. How he’s still watching you when you turn back to him, eyes soft and delicate.

As are his words when he asks, barely above a whisper, “What are you thinking about?”

You decide to be honest. “You.”

Jungwon blinks, eyes quickly going over your face, a small smile teasing the corner of his lips. His hold on your hand tightens just that much. “Why?”

“Because…” Your words fall short. Is this really where this conversation is going? You could overthink it to the moon and back, but you already know it would change your mind. There’s a reason you can feel the tips of your ears burning, a reason being so close to him makes your heart race. You stare into his eyes, so sweet and homey, and tell the truth. “I think I like you, Jungwon. A lot.”

He flashes you that brilliant smile, the one you know is just for you, the one that makes your heart lurch. “You like me?” he echoes through a smile. Then, he tilts his head, teasing. “Or my stories?”

You pull your hand free to whack him in the chest, earning you laughter. “I pour my heart out and this is the thanks I get?”

Jungwon’s hand, now free from holding yours, reaches across to cup your cheek. “Darling,” he says, and you feel your skin beneath his touch burn, “you did not pour your heart out. You told the truth, which is good. But pouring your heart out?” He shakes his head softly, turned towards you against the pillow.

Somehow, you’ve both gone from flat on your back to on your side, facing each other. You pout, even if your heart sings at how Jungwon is looking at you. “Then what does pouring your heart out look like, hm?”

Jungwon smiles, something sly and cunning, as if he’s waited a long time for this. “Well, I think it would sound something like this.” He pauses a moment before going on. “It’s how when I first saw you at the party, I thought you were the most beautiful person I’d ever seen. Then I gathered you were already seeing someone, but then to see you cry? Because of what he did to you?”

Jungwon frowns at the memory. “Then we found each other at school, and we kept talking, and talking. And somewhere you found about me, but you didn’t care. And I told you stories every time you called because I needed an excuse to hear your voice or make you laugh. Because it was the best thing I could hear. Then, you stopped calling. And I didn’t expect it to hurt so much.”

“Why?” you ask without even trying. It slips out in a pause in Jungwon’s speech.

He smiles, using his thumb to softly rub back and forth on your cheek. “I didn’t expect it to hurt because I’ve done this before–shared stories with people,” he says. “To be honest, it took me a while to figure out what was wrong, because I hadn’t felt it. At least not in a long time. When I realized it’s because I like you a lot, I had to figure out something to do.”

You can’t help but stare. “You like me back?”

“I fear I may love you,” he says softly, and you feel a knot in your stomach. He moves closer, using his hand on your cheek to tilt your chin up towards him, his lips a breath away from yours. You try to remind yourself to breathe. Your hand reaches out to cling to his shirt. “I’ve met so, so many people in my years, and then I met you. And you were suddenly everything that was missing, and I can’t help but think that…”

“That we’re meant to be?”

In the time you’ve known him, you’ve almost always associated Jungwon with warmth. First, him dispelling that silly legend about vampires being cold, or even heartless. You’d heard it the first time he enveloped you in a hug, when you broke down crying explaining what your ex had done to you. Then, his stories, his honeyed voice painting fantastical stories over the phone. The magic he has, producing the glittery golden scenes around you. His hand, so tender and gentle as it cups your cheek, fingers pressing delicate against the nape of your neck.

But Jungwon’s kisses? The warmest of them all.

Did you get to do anything fun during the week or is there something this weekend that you're looking forward to? Finally, try to do something nice for yourself! Buy that thing you've had your eye on, treat yourself to takeout, etc etc! Remember that you're always loved and needed and that your presence here brightens up the day of everyone who is on your dash! ♡

Random OOC asks (especially positivity anon!) - Accepting!

Hi, Positivity Anon! Trust me, it's never too late to share some good vibes, in real life and here in the tumblr RPC. Thank you for the well-wishes!

Did you get to do anything fun during the week or is there something this weekend that you're looking forward to?

The week itself has been a bit of a mess due to trying to get ahead in work and wedding planning, but the weekend? Well..that's going to be equally busy! I'm repairing, fixing up, or otherwise finishing an array of cosplay costumes for a convention next weekend: a lot of ironing, pressing, securing fasteners and touching up paint, and wig taming. I'm also building a new wig, but mostly from pre-made wig parts, so to speak, to save on time. It's beginning its life as what I assume to be a Saber (Artoria) wig from Fate, but it'll be something else once I'm done!

And the usual pre-convention stuff: pick up badge in advance, make the grocery store/craft store runs for hotel room snacks and first aid/cosplay repair kits. I have to figure out how I'm going to pack a few prop weapons for this con, too: my heart would break if they did!

A friend is also throwing a Halloween party, but I'm debating if I want to go. I may just not have the energy to attend, much less put on a costume, because so. much. costume. prep. TFW most/all of your offline friends are cosplayers and we still think we're going to show up in some comfy costume for a party when there's a convention coming up.

Finally, try to do something nice for yourself! Buy that thing you've had your eye on, treat yourself to takeout, etc etc!

I miss takeout food so, so much. To be honest, I make my own food at home 90% of the time or so, and even more often when I've got costume or formal events coming up. I have to keep to a certain eating plan (not a 'diet' but more of a lifestyle at this point) and most restaurants simply don't cater to how I need to eat to keep myself healthy. I'm also determined not to make any alterations to my wedding dress at this point.

But buying things? I've needed to, from last minute cosplay supplies to some new, dark wash jeans (I love the Madewell Perfect Vintage line!) and sweaters. Cardigans and jumpers alike, there is some serious bliss involved with soft, warm, high-quality knitwear. I'll say it always: you all deserve nice clothes.

My new knits weren't cheap, even if I bought some of them secondhand. But my goodness, I want to live in them. I'd nap in them too if I wasn't afraid they'd wrinkle horribly. I'm glad I'm not allergic to wool.

And uh, looking at costume possibilities for 2023. I have at least four new things I'm planning to add to my closet, and may tack on a few more.

Remember that you're always loved and needed and that your presence here brightens up the day of everyone who is on your dash! ♡

This so sweet, thank you! I'm not sure my presence brightens up the dash every day, or at least those who follow me. I don't post that much and my characterization and writing style isn't for everyone (or hell, I'd say the majority of muns) in the RPC. But what I'm trying to do is the following:

Have, and show, sincere gratitude for the writing partners I do have. Engage with them, enjoy coming up with new plots and interactions with them. It doesn't matter how many muns or blogs I'm writing with, as long as I'm focusing my energy on those who do the same for me. It can be incredibly discouraging to try and reach out to others only to have asks ignored, threads dropped, and/or memes shared without sending something in return. But instead of stewing over it, I'd rather just focus on those who want to write with me. Followed by...

Curate my dash experience. It's been shared plenty of times on tumblr, but we're all responsible for what we decide to keep on our dashes. And frankly, if something isn't working, it's okay to say goodbye. For me, this comes from the discouraging reasons I listed above: sometimes, it's just easier not to have blogs on dash that provoke unhappy feelings. It's also why I do interest calls every few months: I never want to unfollow muns who do want to interact, but I tend to give up after awhile of sending asks with no response, constantly dropped threads, or using me as a meme/aes/art source.

Mostly though, I hope those who do see my posts and/or write with me enjoy it. More than being loved or needed, I just like to keep RP as a fun hobby (that doesn't require wig caps, bobby pins, shapewear, heels, heavy makeup...wearing costumes can feel like you've participated in a marathon sometimes! I'll be a pajama-wearing gremlin when I write and I'm relieved for it).

@itsdeanwinchester *waves* idk if you remember sending me an inbox msg last week. I had a nice reply going with a few of my fave moments and was ready to add onto it tomorrow, so I saved it as a draft in the app.

Because it’s 1:27AM and I didn’t save to Google docs, Tumblr ate both your question and my reply, sorry!

Anyway, let’s get on with it!

^^ This. They talk. The spousal-coded domesticity and general offscreen routines between Dean and Cas deliberately increased over the seasons since Dabb Not-So-Subtle Destiel Era S12, and now they’ve become more blatant/on-the-nose from S13 to present. A few of my personal faves:

Cas and Dean watching movies together/Dean making Cas watch his favourite cowboy movies

Cas knowing Dean is “an angry sleeper...like a bear” and Cas implied as making his coffee in the mornings (recalling that Cas doesn’t sleep)

Related to the above, Dean’s mancave as D/C-coded by brilliant Jerry Wanek — additionally a plausibly romantic contrast to platonic Joey/Chandler’s living space (consistent romantic vs familial narrative, where Destiel are like brothers but more than brothers, and platonic situations are subverted into/further contrasted with romantic ones on the show) — with Sam, who’s never seen it before and was first introduced to it in 13x16 compared to Cas, who knew its location when he returned to the bunker after his Tree of Life mission. One can suspect that the mancave was built late S12/pre-Cas 12x23 death/post-13x05. The rest of the room’s setup veers into headcanon territory (i.e. Cas helping Dean move the pool tables in, construct a pop cultural environment -- let’s be real, they can’t build a perfect mancave in a single day/night unless they had no hunts or urgent matters to attend to in-between, and it seems likely that making the room took place over time; maybe Dean probably wanted to surprise Cas after he was resurrected, maybe Dean gave Cas the mixtape in the mancave if it was created pre-12x23, alongside the bedroom or the Impala as more feasible locations for an intimate mixtape gifting exchange; anyway, Dean could’ve given Cas the tape anywhere etc), but the solid fact remains that TPTB went out of their way to narratively stress Sam and Cas’ differing reactions/relationships to Dean’s mancave (Dean himself) based off of TFW’s complex personalities and patterns. Is Sam the type of person to spend a lot of time in there? Why are there two chairs instead of one, if the mancave was specifically made for TFW bonding circle-jerks (no pun intended)? The latter logically adds up with Sam first seeing the mancave vs Cas. Don’t forget the visual narrative—

—in that Sam is excluded, conveyed as an independent person apart from D/C the unit (which we’ve repeatedly seen since S12/13). Voila, Dean and Cas are standing behind each ugly plaid chair.

p.s. Dean’s Halloween dress-up suggestions of Thelma/Louise and Bert/Ernie in 14x04, with Bert/Ernie as best friends and highly-likely-or-even-confirmed-gay-couple — and familial bro Sam responding to Dean’s suggestions with “That’s weird” — thus reminds viewers of, again, the varying nature of Sam and Cas’ relations to Dean. Both pop culture pairings subtextually make sense within the romantic Dean and Cas context.

Also, Eldritch bunker, because where the heck is the mancave located? :P

SPN Blatant Mirror City 14x04: Dean mirror Dirk saying that A. Stuart the Cas mirror is his best friend (with the exact nature of their relationship purposely veiled), and B. him and Stuart watch movies and eat pizza together, highlighting 13x06 and 13x16; persistently linked to Cas = Pizza Man/pizza subtext and continuous interpersonal romance-coded bonding via beer and food with Dean’s telling reaction:

“We’d just eat pizza and watch movies. It’s...zen.”

“Sounds like a good friend.”

And I mean, Perez penned both 14x04 and 13x06, intentionally poking at us to fill in the concurrent subtextual blanks. Dean and Cas are best friends, first and foremost. And they’re also more. Storytelling always builds on previous emotional threads to flesh out and establish long-running themes like Love and...Love (corroborate pre-existing romantic subtext), and when you have these explicitly parallel characters Dirk and Stuart maintaining emotional links to the mytharc (e.g. brave and kind Dirk defending his family, Stuart and Sam mirror Samantha, from Toxic Father John Winchester mirror David (literal Hunter) Yeager and standing up to him), it’s the most relevant.

Just recently in 14x16: Dean telling Sam early AM about Cas’ whereabouts before the general household is even awake, implying that either Cas told him in the evening or let him know in the morning (face-to-face) or text/phone call

These are all canon.

Again, exactly...regardless of whether or not Dean and Cas’ subtextual inexplicably romantic narrative is textually confirmed, the UNDENIABLE take-home message -> Dean and Cas are best friends and spend time together — more than we’re explicitly shown onscreen (Misha/Cas haters/brosonlies who continue to insist otherwise are still ignoring canon); D/C will reach full mutual transparency.

Positive Endgame’s arrived and I’m cautiously optimistic!

Word Count: ~630 (THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A DRABBLE, FUCK ME)

Warnings: Adorable, G-rated fluff of the Halloween variety. Set in an imaginary timeline where TFW just hangs out carving pumpkins.

“This is supposed to ward off evil spirits?” Jack asked, brow furrowed, stabbing awkwardly at his pumpkin. You winced.

“Something like that, depending who you ask,” Sam said. His tongue was poking out from between his teeth as he sliced carefully. “Actually -”

“So, get this…” you quipped. Sam gave you a blank look, but Jack and Cas laughed. “Sorry, Sam, continue. What does the lore say?”

He huffed a little, but you could see the fondness in his smile. “Depending who you ask, they were either supposed to scare off evil spirits, or represent the souls of Christians trapped in Purgatory. And the first jack o’lanterns were actually turnips.”

“They were rudimentary at best. Nothing compared to the, ah, incredible artistic talent on display here,” Cas contributed drily. “This bunch gets much more competitive about it than any other humans I’ve encountered. Well, these two at least.” He gestured between you and Sam with his knife.

“How are you doing over there, darlin?” you asked Dean. He’d set himself up in the corner, away from the rest of you, and was glowering at his pumpkin like it had personally offended him.

“Fine,” he insisted.

“C’mon, it’s okay, I’m not going to love you any less if you have to ask for help.”

Cas wandered over and snuck a peek before Dean could get it out of reach, and a slow, disbelieving smile spread over his face.

“I’m fine,” Dean said again, gruff and strained. He and Cas started one of those wordless conversations they were prone to, consisting of eyebrow wiggles and the occasional grunt. You rolled your eyes and turned back to putting the final touches on your masterpiece.

“I think I’m finished,” Jack said, and he turned his pumpkin around so that you could see. He’d slashed a sloppy, crude face into it, with sharp but crooked teeth. You almost laughed until you saw the pride in his expression.

“For your first Halloween, I’d say it’s a great start,” Sam said, obviously holding back a laugh of his own. “How ‘bout you, Cas?”

Triangular eyes, big toothy grin. You smiled. “Isn’t that the same thing you did last year?”

“It’s not like I ever win, anyway,” Cas grumbled. “Besides, it’s a classic for a reason. What did you come up with, then?”

“Sam, your reign is over,” you announced, and held up your (fucking impeccable, if you did say so yourself) rendering of Jack Skellington. Cas and Sam gave it an approving round of applause.

“A worthy contender,” Sam granted, but he gave you a very smug look and dramatically revealed a perfect, intricate, obsessive carving of the Death Star. You gaped.

“What is this, four years in a row now?” you spluttered. “How the fuck did you… you’re cheating. No way you could do all that from memory, that’s gotta be a stencil.”

“Nope, just a fanboy,” he grinned.

“Don’t count Dean out just yet,” Cas said. There was a funny suppressed smile on his face that made you wonder just how bad Dean’s was this year.

“No, never mind, this is stupid,” Dean muttered. “Jesus, fuck, Cas, don’t - okay, fine!”

He took a deep breath and turned his pumpkin around. In big, blocky letters, he’d carved, “Marry me?”

You blinked stupidly a few times, mouth hanging open, looking between the pumpkin and Dean’s earnest, nervous expression.

As if from a distance, you heard Jack ask, “Is that traditional too?”

“No, but they’ve never really been big on tradition,” Sam said. It sounded like he was choked up.

“Three years ago,” you said softly. “Holy shit.”

Dean nodded. His eyes sparkled when he met your gaze. “Three years ago today.”

“Yeah.”

“So?” he asked, eyes wide, and you realized you hadn’t answered the question.

“Oh! Yes! Duh,” you blurted out. “Yes, fuck yes. I’ve been waiting for you to ask for… well, three years now.”

Hey guys! So October is finally approaching and that would mean that on Halloween would be my one year fic-a-versary, why not celebrate. Also, I am very close to 2K followers which is amazing and I love you all so much!

My last challenge didn’t go so well, I may have put out to many prompts or life just got in the way but eh..

Hello, can you please recommend me fluffy kind of lengthy Destiel fics? It'd be best if it's where they have kids or something like that but I'm fine with anything. I noticed that majority of the Destiel fics are depressing or triggering (damn you, Supernatural 😤) and I don't want to be sad. Thank you in advance! 💓

Aahhh! First off... I don’t read fics where they have kids... I have a weird list of things that nope me out of fic, and daddy destiel is at the top of the list. (everyone’s got their weird squicks, you know?) And I get it. I only read a certain kind of angst myself (the show gives us more than enough, I read fic to actually see them happy. Or if they’re suffering, at least they’re doing so in a comedic way... yes hello I once wrote a six-way body swap crack fest...).

So here, have some recent long-ish fics I have enjoyed! Lammas Night by @pherryt (aka @dragonpressgraphics) (E, 51k, wizard!Dean and wizard!Cas-- who starts off the fic as ghost!Cas but Dean fixes that so don’t worry... :P, but I’ve been reading it over the last week or so, and I’m almost finished with it-- like on the last chapter.)

Well Endowed by @thayerkerbasy and @grey2510 (T, 32k, plus a few additional shorter stories in the ‘verse, all worth reading) Wherein Dean is the sole beneficiary of Crowley’s will, and TFW has to figure out what the heck to do with everything-- including soul contracts and one (1) loyal hellhound named Juliet who has reluctantly accepted that Dean is her new master. (Juliet’s pov sections are a fantastic read all on their own)

Marshmalloween by @almaasi (T, 33k), yes, technically takes place at Halloween). An AU similar to canon, but Sam and Dean aren’t raised in the life and Cas is a human raised by Missouri.

Worth the Fall by Desirae (E, 25k), kindergarten teacher!Dean, angel!Cas AU, where Cas disobeys orders and saves Dean’s life, then is punished by being forced to live as a human for one year, during which he inevitably meets and falls for Dean. :)

Framed in a Stranger's Speech by @pantheonofdiscord (E, 27k), canon-adjacent, where a hunt goes sideways, and Cas is forced from his body, and must find a temporary vessel... Claire agrees to be his vessel until they can figure out how to save Cas. All the E stuff happens AFTER they save him... but there’s some awesome Cas and Claire stuff in here, which is sort of kid related, I guess?

And that’s all the longer fic I’ve read in the last month or so. Just going through my history and seeing how much I have Marked For Later, I’m just weeping... Seriously go check out the dcbb’s from this year. I’ve been in panic-writing mode for my pinefest, but I turned in the draft last night (or I guess technically this morning, it was very late when I pushed the submit button...) so hopefully I’ll have more time to get caught up reading (especially with the winter hellatus upon us! Which will also likely mean the annual barrage of Holiday Fluff Fic, so there’s that to look forward to as well!)

But I assume you asked me for fic recs because you’ve already read all my fic? If not, there you go! That should keep you busy for a while. :)
